2. Continuity Editing
This is where a group of clips are edited
together to create one flowing sequence
or scene. This type of editing is used to
create a narrative/story.

3. Montage Editing
This is where clips are edited together with
no attempt to create a storyline. The
clips follow on from each other with no
continuity.

4. Match on Action
This is where there is good continuity
between each shot from one to another.
Meanwhile the shot changes but the
action going on remains continuous.
Movement happens at the same pace
whilst interchanging with shots.

5. Cut Away
Pictures of something relevant to what will
happen in a scene or sequence. This
provides additional information.

6. Graphic Match
Transition/Cross fade between two shots
which contain similar objects.

7. Shot Reverse Shot
This is where two cameras film alternating
over the shoulder shots. This usually
shows a conversation.

8. 180 degree rule
This rule states that a camera must stay
on one side of the action. This is in order
to help continuity. This is so that all
movement happens in one direction and
does not change.
