Larry Page and Sergey Brin met at Stanford University in 1995 and developed an improved search method using links between websites to rate usefulness. They started Google in 1998 with an initial $1 million investment, working out of a friend's garage. Google became the most visited website globally in March 2007, with 528 million unique users that month. It generates revenue through advertisements and has acquired companies like YouTube and DoubleClick to expand its offerings.
