3. Clean India is a national campaign by the Government
of India.
This campaign was officially launched on 2 October
2014 at Rajghat, New Delhi, where Prime Minister
Narendra Modi himself cleaned the road. It is India's
biggest ever cleanliness drive and 3 million government
employees and school and college students of India
participated in this event.
WHAT IS CLEAN INDIA CAMPAIGN...??
4. • The mission was started by Prime Minister Modi,
who nominated nine famous personalities for the
campaign, and they took up the challenge and
nominated nine more people. It has been carried
forward since then with people from all walks of
life joining it.

5. WHAT IS GREEN INDIA CAMPAIGN….??
• The National Mission for a Green India has been
approved by the Prime Minister's Council on
Climate Change. The Mission is one of eight
missions under India's National Action Plan on
Climate Change (NAPCC).
• The Mission aims to increase the quantity and
quality of 10 million ha. of forest area, achieving an
annual CO2 sequestration of 50 to 60 million
tonnes by 2020.
6. Mission Objective
• The Mission objective is to increase forest/tree cover on five
million ha. of forested and non forested land, and improved
quality of forest cover on another 5 million ha – a total of 10
million ha.
• The Mission will also focus on improvement of ecosystem
services, including Biodiversity, hydrological services and
carbon sequestration, and aim to increase forest-based
livelihood incomes for 3 million forest dependent families.
7. SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN
Swachh Bharat or Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Campaign
Clean India) is a national level campaign by the
Government of India covering 4041 statutory towns to
clean the streets, roads and infrastructure of the country.

was total sanitation for all.

10. CONCEPT OF SWATCH BHARAT ABHIYAN
The concept of Swatch Bharat is to pave access for every
person to:-
a. Sanitation facilities including Toilets, Solid and Liquid
Waste Disposal Systems, village cleanliness
and
b. Safe and adequate drinking water supply.
We have to achieve this by 2019 as a befitting tribute to
Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his 150th. Birth
anniversary.
11. WHAT IS THE GOAL…??
By 2019, Gandhi’s 150th birth
anniversary, every city, town and village
is to be ‘clean’, that is, they will have
pucca toilets for all, safe drinking water,
waste disposal systems and clean roads &
lanes.

13. CLEAN GANGA
• This campaign is also started by the PM
Narendra Modi.

15. FUND ALLOCATION
• This project is expected to cost over Rs. 2 lakhs
crore.
• To give a boost to the project ,the World Bank is
also giving support .
• All big coorporates and private organisations are
asked to join the movement as a part of their CSR
activities.

• Clean India – Green India fund will be eligible
for Tax Deduction.
• Mr.Arun Jaitley proposed 2000 cr for this
project.
• Construction of 6000 cr Toilets in 2015-16.

25. NIRMAL BHARAT ABHIYAN
Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan (NBA) was started in 2012 and
then Clean India Campaign in 2014 on 2nd of October.
However all the sanitation and cleanliness programmes
run by the Indian government earlier were not as
effective as the current Clean India Campaign of 2014.
26. CENTRAL RURAL SANITATION PROGRAMME
Cleanliness in India such as Central Rural Sanitation
Programme (CRSP) was started in 1986 all over the
country which had focused to construct the individual
sanitary latrines for the personal use of the people living
below the poverty line.
It had focused to convert the dry latrines to the low cost
sanitary latrines, to construct latrines especially for rural
women with other facilities of hand pump, bathing
room, sanitation, washing hands, etc.
It was targeted that all the provided facilities should be
properly maintained by the village Panchayats
27. TOTAL SANITATION FUND
• (TSC) of cleanliness in India was started in 1999 by the
Government of India in order to restructure the Rural
Sanitation Programme.
• Nirmal Gram Puraskar was started in the month of June
in 2003 as a sanitation programme to boost the Total
Sanitation Campaign
• It was a an incentive scheme launched by the
Government of India in 2003 to award people for total
sanitation coverage, maintaining clean environment as
well as making villages open defecation-free villages by
the Panchayats, Blocks and Districts.
