Notes de l'éditeur

  1. Why Am I Here?To tell you what TechBug isTo tell you who our intended audience isTo show you how the Group was formedTo tell you why we think membership will be of valueTo tell you when we will kick things off
  2. Quick Poll before we get started.By show of hands, how many in the audience fall under the category of System Administrator, Developer, DBA or some combination? Now of those that raised their hands, how many of you feel you would benefit from a group of like-minded techies and Blackboard SMEs meeting on a regular basis for training, discussion and collaboration?
  3. TechBUG will work with local groups to help design and implement technical tracks at local conferencesTechBUG will hold regular webinars, some geared towards a particular job set, many geared towards all TechBUG will be part of Blackboard DevCon, although the methodology of this is undefined at this time. DevCon is for the same constituents as TechBUG, so working together only makes senseTechBUG is customer-driven, just like other BUGs, and will include regular Blackboard participation.
  4. Tim Boshart – System Administrator @ Oregon created a System Administrators BUG in 2009.SYSBUG has several members, however the participation level was not where Tim wanted it to beGeorge Kroner and I were looking to start a BUG for developers, to bring Building Block training to local and regional groups as part of the local conferences they were already attending.Sahar Javadi suggested bringing the two together, and from this melding of the minds, TechBUG was born

  6. The name SYSBUG implies System AdministratorThe name DevBUG implies Building Block Developers. We wanted a group that would encourage all technical staff around Blackboard integrations to joinBlackboard recognizes the need to improve the relationships with our technical community, and wanted a name that was all-encompassing to encourage all techies to join.We thought it sounded cool
  7. We will actively participate in meetings, whether it be as presenter, contributor, or just listener We will work to keep the members apprised of technical information around Service Packs, Releases, API Changes and other things that affect the professional lives of TechBUG members
  8. SYSBUG was launched on March 26, 2009SYSBUG changed to TechBUG on February 10, 2011This is the official launchThe first official action of the group will be a Webinar about Blackboard OpenDB on Tuesday, March 15th at 11am EST. Check the Blackboard Connections site for details on how to register.
