DANCES
Traditional Basque dancing has
always been a deeply-rooted social
act. It has many influences and
combinations, and is linked to civic
and religious events, as a sign of
greeting and reverence. The one of
the photo is called "Aurrezku".
Bacalao pil-pil is one of the most
iconic Basque dishes, which you
can order at almost
any restaurant in
Bilbao. Bacalao means cod fish
and is a favourite ingredient
found in many Basque dishes.a
Football is by far the most popular
game played in the Basque region.
Basketball, cycling and surfing also
have quite a large following.
SPORTS
The variations of pelota are
the most common. Pelota is
similar to racquetball and is
played with a ball (call a
pelota) which is hit against a
fronton (wall).

A lot of famous writers all
over the history are from
Bilbao. Gabriel Aresti and
Miguel De Unamuno are
some of them. The basque
literature is growing more
and more, Because they
are writing more books in
Euskera. (Basque)

Famous paintings like the
Gernica are inspìred in
basque places and basque
culture.
MUSIC
In the Basque culture the
music is very important, we
have some local
instruments like the
"alboka" or the
"txalaparta."
