Introduction to cause
effect diagram
Introductiontocauseeffectdiagram:
A Cause-and-Effect Diagram is a tool that helps identify, sort, and display
possible causes of a specific problem or quality characteristic .
It graphically illustrates the relationship between a given outcome and all
the factors that influence the outcome.
This type of diagram is sometimes called an "Ishikawa diagram“ because it
was invented by Kaoru Ishikawa, or a "fishbone diagram" because of the
way it looks.
WhyshouldweuseaCause-and-EffectDiagram?
A Cause-and-Effect Diagram is a tool that is useful for identifying and
organizing the known or possible causes of quality, or the lack of it.
The structure provided by the diagram helps team members think in a very
systematic way. Some of the benefits of constructing a Cause-and-Effect
Diagram are that it :
 Helps determine the root causes of a problem or quality characteristic
using a structured approach.
 Encourages group participation and utilizes group knowledge of the
process.
Uses an orderly, easy-to-read format to diagram cause-and-effect
relationships.
 Indicates possible causes of variation in a process.
Increases knowledge of the process by helping everyone to learn more about the
factors at work and how they relate.
 Identifies areas where data should be collected for further study.

Late arrival
of students
Parents Student
Weather/ other work Transport
• With the help of this diagram we can easily identify that
there are some reasons because of which students arrive
late. The diagram is explained below :
• if parents do not have interest in their child’s work then
they would not be able to predict why their child is late to
school or colleges.
• If the environment of the house would be good then the
more the child would be happy and on schedule.
• parents are also responsible for the late arrival of the
student because they should look at their children timely
and make him responsible.
• Students are not careful about their studies.
• They sleep lately and wake up late.
• There is a lot of weather changes and because of that
students gets ill and do their work more slowly.
• Due to bad weather there is a lot of problems.
• Because of rush and accidents there causes traffic jam.
• Sometimes school buses or school vehicles may also
arrive late which directly affects the students.
Identificationtorootcauses
Threerootcausesare:
• Lack of interest and motivation : Students lack the interest
or motivation. They see little value in the course or its content. According to
them they might not believe that their efforts will improve their performance.
They are demotivated by the structure and allocation of rewards. They do
not perceive the classroom climate as supportive.
• Bad performance in exams : Therefore, they may have bad
performances in exams also. They lack pre-requisite knowledge and skills.
Getting late in class may lead to loss in studies a lot.
one bad performance may lead to loss in examination and causes reduction in
the marks or say the per cent tile. They cannot apply what they have learned.
• Blacklisted among all : Students those who get late to classes
gets black listed in the eyes of the teacher and his classmates also.
Therefore this may lead a huge impact on
him or her.
This may effect on his studies and his behaviour.
They behave rude in the class. They stop
participating in the discussion.
Recommended solution
Solutions:
State your expectations and let the child face the consequences of
their lateness :
You can say, “We leave the house at eight a.m. If you’re not ready, I’m
going, and you can walk to school.” For kids who are older, this is the
perfect thing.
You may think they’re not going to go to school, but believe me, most kids
want to be there; they’re just feeling disorganized and perhaps they don’t
want to face the academics that they have to deal with that day.
If you have a child who’s chronically late for school, leave them home, let
them take the bus. Or let them miss the bus and walk to school.
Use an alarm clock from an early age :
Put an alarm clock in your child’s room from an early age. This will teach
them that they have the responsibility to wake up and follow a schedule.
By the way, I think it’s easier if it’s introduced when someone’s really
young—it’s part of the message to kids that they have to learn how to
organize their lives as they grow.
 Make them pay for their lateness—literally :
Another thing you can do, especially with younger kids, is to charge them
for their lateness. So tell them, “For every minute we have to wait for you,
you’re losing five minutes of video game time.” For older kids, it might be
five minutes of cell phone time. And if you have to, make it ten minutes. This
is effective because now, when your child makes other people late, there’s
some cost to them also. They feel it a little more.
Don’t excuse their lateness:
If your child is tardy or misses school because he or she is not taking the
responsibility to get ready and get there on time, don’t give them an
excused absence.
Don’t write them a note. Tell the school what happened and let your child
pay the consequences for their lateness.
Let him get late :
Let him get late for his classes .once he is late, he might get scolding from
his teachers.
If he misses his classes once or twice, he won’t miss them anymore, and if
his teacher doesn’t like it, he can sit on the back bench for a while until he
becomes better at organizing his schedule.
Lesson learned by the team
Learning:
We should organise our schedule properly.
Instead of being late, we should value the time.
Late arrival may mislead us from our mission.
With the help of cause effect diagram we can easily
identify and sort out things.
Students should be more careful about their time
management.
All precautions must be taken before only so that there is no
late arrival.
If any scolding is been given then learn a lesson from it and
try to conquer and solve it .
THANK YOU

Late arrival of students banasthai vidyapith-sanchi saxena

  • 1. QIMPROCOLLEGELEAGUE Topic : Late arrival of students Made by : Sanchi saxena Sonakshi kansal Shrashti singh B.Com 2nd year Banasthali Vidyapith
  • 2. Outline : Introduction to cause effect diagram. Cause effect diagram. Identification of three root causes. Recommended solutions. Lesson learned by the team.
  • 4. Introductiontocauseeffectdiagram: A Cause-and-Effect Diagram is a tool that helps identify, sort, and display possible causes of a specific problem or quality characteristic . It graphically illustrates the relationship between a given outcome and all the factors that influence the outcome. This type of diagram is sometimes called an "Ishikawa diagram“ because it was invented by Kaoru Ishikawa, or a "fishbone diagram" because of the way it looks.
  • 5. WhyshouldweuseaCause-and-EffectDiagram? A Cause-and-Effect Diagram is a tool that is useful for identifying and organizing the known or possible causes of quality, or the lack of it. The structure provided by the diagram helps team members think in a very systematic way. Some of the benefits of constructing a Cause-and-Effect Diagram are that it :  Helps determine the root causes of a problem or quality characteristic using a structured approach.  Encourages group participation and utilizes group knowledge of the process. Uses an orderly, easy-to-read format to diagram cause-and-effect relationships.
  • 6.  Indicates possible causes of variation in a process. Increases knowledge of the process by helping everyone to learn more about the factors at work and how they relate.  Identifies areas where data should be collected for further study. Example 1 #
  • 7. Cause effect diagram on late arrival of the students
  • 8. lack of guidance careless disorganised busy bad marks lack of interest lack of sleep late interest any disaster no proper bad weather weather changes facility traffic jam sickness school vehicle accidents or rush Late arrival of students Parents Student Weather/ other work Transport
  • 9. • With the help of this diagram we can easily identify that there are some reasons because of which students arrive late. The diagram is explained below : • if parents do not have interest in their child’s work then they would not be able to predict why their child is late to school or colleges. • If the environment of the house would be good then the more the child would be happy and on schedule. • parents are also responsible for the late arrival of the student because they should look at their children timely and make him responsible.
  • 10. • Students are not careful about their studies. • They sleep lately and wake up late. • There is a lot of weather changes and because of that students gets ill and do their work more slowly. • Due to bad weather there is a lot of problems. • Because of rush and accidents there causes traffic jam. • Sometimes school buses or school vehicles may also arrive late which directly affects the students.
  • 12. Threerootcausesare: • Lack of interest and motivation : Students lack the interest or motivation. They see little value in the course or its content. According to them they might not believe that their efforts will improve their performance. They are demotivated by the structure and allocation of rewards. They do not perceive the classroom climate as supportive. • Bad performance in exams : Therefore, they may have bad performances in exams also. They lack pre-requisite knowledge and skills. Getting late in class may lead to loss in studies a lot. one bad performance may lead to loss in examination and causes reduction in the marks or say the per cent tile. They cannot apply what they have learned.
  • 13. • Blacklisted among all : Students those who get late to classes gets black listed in the eyes of the teacher and his classmates also. Therefore this may lead a huge impact on him or her. This may effect on his studies and his behaviour. They behave rude in the class. They stop participating in the discussion.
  • 15. Solutions: State your expectations and let the child face the consequences of their lateness : You can say, “We leave the house at eight a.m. If you’re not ready, I’m going, and you can walk to school.” For kids who are older, this is the perfect thing. You may think they’re not going to go to school, but believe me, most kids want to be there; they’re just feeling disorganized and perhaps they don’t want to face the academics that they have to deal with that day. If you have a child who’s chronically late for school, leave them home, let them take the bus. Or let them miss the bus and walk to school.
  • 16. Use an alarm clock from an early age : Put an alarm clock in your child’s room from an early age. This will teach them that they have the responsibility to wake up and follow a schedule. By the way, I think it’s easier if it’s introduced when someone’s really young—it’s part of the message to kids that they have to learn how to organize their lives as they grow.  Make them pay for their lateness—literally : Another thing you can do, especially with younger kids, is to charge them for their lateness. So tell them, “For every minute we have to wait for you, you’re losing five minutes of video game time.” For older kids, it might be five minutes of cell phone time. And if you have to, make it ten minutes. This is effective because now, when your child makes other people late, there’s some cost to them also. They feel it a little more.
  • 17. Don’t excuse their lateness: If your child is tardy or misses school because he or she is not taking the responsibility to get ready and get there on time, don’t give them an excused absence. Don’t write them a note. Tell the school what happened and let your child pay the consequences for their lateness. Let him get late : Let him get late for his classes .once he is late, he might get scolding from his teachers. If he misses his classes once or twice, he won’t miss them anymore, and if his teacher doesn’t like it, he can sit on the back bench for a while until he becomes better at organizing his schedule.
  • 18. Lesson learned by the team
  • 19. Learning: We should organise our schedule properly. Instead of being late, we should value the time. Late arrival may mislead us from our mission. With the help of cause effect diagram we can easily identify and sort out things.
  • 20. Students should be more careful about their time management. All precautions must be taken before only so that there is no late arrival. If any scolding is been given then learn a lesson from it and try to conquer and solve it . THANK YOU
