Almendralejo is a small town situated in
Badajoz, Extremadura. It belongs to the area
of Tierra de Barros and is one of the most
important cities in Extremadura.
Winters in Almendralejo are a little bit cold
and dry, while summers are very very hot.
There are a lot of vineyards and olive trees.

4. ORIGINS AND HISTORY
Almendralejo dates from Roman times.
After the decline of the Empire, many years later, in 1228 different settlers
came to these lands to work, and in 1235 a wide jurisdiction was given to
the new settlers. It was then when the village known as Almendralejo was
founded.

Considering that in Almendralejo
wine and agriculture are very
important, we have a museum
mainly dedicated to it.

Theatre is very important
too, its the only one that
exists in Almendralejo.

well-known poet in Spain.
"Alange" is a reservoir situated
very near to Almendralejo
where people go fishing,
swimming and just to relax
because it's a very beautiful
place.
9. TRADITIONAL FOOD
"Migas" is a very traditional food in
Almendralejo. Its ingredients are bread
crumbs, garlic, bacon, sausage and olive oil.
"Tostá con caldillo" is toast with pork
and lard. In Almendralejo people take
that for breakfast or dinner.

10. "Perrunillas" are a kind of biscuit,
very typical of Almendralejo.
These are "Los caramelos del
triunfo" these sweets are only made
in Almendralejo. They are very big
and delicious. So you have to taste
them.

Not far from Almendralejo there are three very important cities:
MÉRIDA
A very well-known city for the
Roman sites like the theatre,
amphitheatre and coliseum.
BADAJOZ
Badajoz is the biggest city in
Extremadura. "Guadiana", one of
the most important rivers in Spain,
flows through this city.

Cáceres is one of the best
preserved urban ensembles
around the world. It is mostly
from the Middle Ages and
the Renaissance.

are a little bit boring and we don't know what to do. So in general the
people from Almendralejo go to Mérida or Badajoz to have fun.
