Germany-USA Career Center
introduces gift certificates
Boston / Berlin, 12/02/2013.The GermanyUSA Career Center (GUCC, www.GermanyUSA.com, www.Germany-USA.de, social
media hashtag #jobsGUCC) has introduced
gift certificates for its bi-national / bicultural resume writing and career
consulting services.
In time for the holiday season and effective
immediately, gift certificates are available for
services like job search or interview assistance
from an English or German-speaking GermanyUSA Career Adviser for Germans and
Americans in both countries.
The Germany-USA Career Center provides
specialized recruiting and career development
services for companies and individuals - most of
them in engineering / manufacturing, sales,
accounting / finance, administration or
customer service - in its cross-border niche
market.
Germany-USA Career Center website visitors
2. now can purchase single gift certificates, like for
a complete Resume and Cover Letter
Translation / Writing package, or even multiple
GUCC vouchers, for example for a whole series
of Career Adviser consultations.
The service is designed to support a career
change or job search all the way to and
including the interview and onboarding process
with a company in the U.S. or in Germany,
Austria or Switzerland.
GUCC introduces the vouchers because it
recently noticed a rise in Career Adviser
bookings benefiting a family member or
partner of the person who purchased the
service, according to Gerd Meissner, co-founder
and Managing Partner of the agency.
"An American visitor of the Career Center
website specifically requested a Career Adviser
gift certificate for her daughter, who was
moving to Germany with her husband, and I
finally had my forehead-slapping Jeff Foxworthy
moment," said Meissner, referring to the
signature act of a popular U.S. comedian:
"Here's your sign!"
Said the GUCC founder: "Sometimes, it's about
the little things, like making it easier for your
fiancee, or as a corporate expat, for your
'trailing spouse,' to find work in the U.S. or in
Germany."
"Most of the services the Germany-USA Career
Center offers today were added over time,
following requests and suggestions from
existing and new clients, in both countries,"
added Meissner.
"As a niche-focused small business, we have
learned a lot from the people who use our
services. Sometimes, it's very much about the
little things - like gift certificates."
GUCC got its start in 1998, as a permissionbased ("opt-in") email list that connected
American and German executives and MBA
students.
3. Meissner launched the mailing list as a hobby,
while updating a business book he wrote for
McGraw-Hill, the largest U.S. book publishing
house.
The Germany-USA Career Center has assisted
hundreds of companies in both countries and
more than 20,000 job seekers, through its
Resume Library, the Germany-USA Job Mail list
and its career services, which have won much
praise from its users.
Career Center users book Career Adviser
consultations, which now can be gifted via
voucher, via the Career Adviser page in the For
Applicants section of the Germany-USA Career
Center website.
Job seekers can use the service to have an
existing American or German resume reviewed
by an expert, develop a job search strategy,
find vacancies at American or German
companies in their industry, and also to prepare
for the resulting interviews with hiring
companies in both countries.
