Brita Filters
Brita pour through filters remove impurities from tap water through the science of adsorption.
Different from absorption, adsorption happens when particles or molecules adhere to a surface. The
activated carbon and ion exchange resins in Brita filters attract and adsorb particles in tap water,
making it better tasting and cleaner. As with any pour through system, there is a limited amount of
surface area within the filter for adsorbing particles, which is why your filter needs to be changed
every 40 gallons or approximately every two months.
All Brita filters and containers are BPA free and keep your water tasting great. For over 20 years, the
scientists at Brita® have worked to give you healthier and great tasting water*. The Brita® pitcher
filter uses technology which combines coconut based activated carbon with ion exchange resin in a
BPA free housing. These materials work together to reduce chlorine taste and odor, zinc, and harmful
contaminants copper, mercury and cadmium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But this also provides the chance to accidentally allow water pollutants like chlorine, mercury, lead,
and asbestos into the body on a gradual and daily basis. That s why it s very important to make sure
that your water is as clean as can be, since it is being used to help flush out your system and help your
organs function properly. The major claim made by Brita regarding its water filters is that they remove
enough of the bad stuff in tap water to make it taste better and make it safe and healthy for drinking.
They also claim that it is a far cheaper option than buying bottled water, which infers that their water
is just as clean as the kind you d buy in a bottle, either spring water or water that has been filtered like

Expressionism In Pink Panther
When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding, appreciating, and extracting
both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It also assists in quantifying what art is; the case
has been made that artistic license does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and
meaning. In Terry Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aesthetics and Criticism of Contemporary Art, he
delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism, using contributions
from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist, Jeff Koons, presents something of an
analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories.
His sculpture, Pink Panther, when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many
deeply ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink Panther using
realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis could occur. It will also
subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses that can be found
when applying certain perspectives in art theory to a specific work of art.
Realism Interpretation In Pink Panther, Koons used glazed porcelain to sculpt the image on the Pink
Panther cartoon embracing a topless woman, who is holding her breast. The fluidity of line is realistic,
but the reflective glaze renders the figures shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of

Analysis of Big Brothers Eyes
Big brothers eyes by William D. Eggers and Eve Tushnet
On 2 May 2002, The New York Post published an article about the use of surveillance cameras in
public places written by William D. Eggers and Eve Tushnet of the Manhattan Institute, a high profile
right wing think tank. Entitled Big Brother s Eyes and printed on The Post s opinion page,
William (Bill) Eggers was born in 1967 and is an American writer and government consultant. Eggers
was born in New York City, grew up in the Chicago, Illinois area and attended the University of
California San Diego.

Ban government from using face recognition and other biometric technologies.
Sounds good, but it won t work. For one thing, the spycams are already here and Congress is highly
unlikely to pass a law forcing every city in the country to take down their cameras.
What s more, the ban everything approach ignores the technologies plain benefits. Any woman who s
had to walk through a deserted parking garage to her car knows why many people might welcome
cameras.
With many advances ahead, computer linked surveillance cameras can already identify crimes as they
occur, reduce false arrests and convictions and provide much better evidence than notoriously
unreliable witness testimony. Linked to biometric databases, the cameras can help prevent fraud, find
a lost child, and keep terrorists out of airports and pedophiles out of schools.
The logic here is specious just because the spycams are already here does not mean that they aren t
going away. Police surveillance cameras were installed in Times Square in the late 1960s, but were
taken down because they were judged to be cost ineffective: in 22 months of operation, they led to the
arrest of only 10 people, all for minor infractions.

Lady Gaga And Pop Culture
From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in many ways. After
her 2008 hit single Just Dance the singer quickly gained fame for her unique techno pop music. From
there on she has acquired a huge following and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer
then used the newly popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love
themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born This Way
Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her music and social media
account to influence her fans, she also made a broad fashion statement to motivate her fans to be
weird, different, and unique. Many people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red
carpet in, while others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she s worn over the years. Over the last
nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music, spreading kindness, and
walking the streets wearing memorable outfits. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was born March
28, 1986 in Upper East Side Manhattan, New York. She spent most of her childhood attending an all
girls private school alongside Paris and Nicky Hilton. Upon graduation she ventured off to study
music at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (Levy 1). After failing to continue
school Germanotta took her talent elsewhere and began singing at clubs and bars. She then started

Heinrich Himmler And His Life Essay
Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7th, 1900 in Munich to a middle class Bavarian family. His
father was Joseph Gebhard Himmler, a secondary school teacher and principal. His mother was Anna
Maria Himmler (maiden name Heyder), a devout Catholic and extremely attentive mother. Heinrich
had an older brother, Gebhard Ludwig Himmler, and a younger brother, Ernst Hermann Himmler.
Heinrich was named after his godparent, Prince Heinrich of Wittelsbach of the royal family of
Bavaria, who was tutored by Gebhard Himmler. Educated at secondary school in Landshut, Himmler
served as an officer cadet in the 11th Bavarian Regiment at the end of WW1, although he saw no
active service. After working briefly as a salesman for a fertilizer manufacturing firm, Heinrich
Himmler joined the Nazi party and in the November of 1923 participated in the Beer Hall Putsch as a
standard bearer at the side of Ernst Rohm. All of these roles combined together were a major reason
for Heinrich Himmler being chosen for the jobs he received later in his militaristic life. It is surprising,
that Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and the primary architect of the Holocaust, has not
attracted the attentions of more biographers. For all that he had taken part in for the history of the
Third Reich, he appears to lack the infamous charisma of Heydrich or Hitler, and because of this lack
of infamous charisma he has been presented only rarely as a primary subject for a book about the
holocaust and the

Drug Abuse In School Drug Policy
The school district in these cases have very specific definitions of what drugs and weapons are and the
consequences for violating the rules. The three issues faced by the principal are, did the student violate
the school s drug/ weapon policy, what was the student s intent, and lastly, what should the
consequences be for the student s actions? In the first case an African American female was
discovered taking a pill that she claimed was allergy medication. The school district defines drugs as
marijuana or a controlled substance as defined by 21 U.S.C. Section 801 et seq.; or a dangerous drug
otherwise defined in the State Safety code. The penalty is immediate assignment to the alternative
school for one semester. In order to determine if the student violated the drug policy I would contact
the student s parents to get confirmation that the student is taking the medication with the parent s
knowledge and ask the parent to bring the bottle to confirm the medication. Then, I would show the
medication to the person who witnessed the student taking the pill to confirm that the pills in the bottle
are the same as the pill that they saw the student taking. Furthermore, I would have the student
examined by the nurse and monitor the student to see if any signs of impairment could be observed.
After determining if the student had violated the school s drug policy or not I would assign the in
school suspension for a few days because even over the counter drugs are not permitted

Analytics Software Is Essential For Any Business
In this modern era, analytics software is essential for any business. It helps to understand different
ways to reach target audience and drive traffic to the website. Google analytics is one of the easiest
ways to achieve this. Especially helpful for the small business owner as it is free and easy to use,
hence no need to employ IT personnel. It provides both general statistics and minutiae in detailed,
comprehensive reports. Google analytics does not show how business is doing without some
additional setup. Setup the goals in Google analytics, so that it can to keep track of what s critical to

because sometimes web features are incompatible with certain browsers and operating systems. If a
significant chunk of visitors are using a system that doesn t suit the designed website, it might be time
to redesign the site framework as per the users.
EVENT TRACKING
Events are user interactions with content that can be tracked independently from a web page or a
screen load. Downloads, mobile ad clicks, gadgets, flash elements, AJAX embedded elements, and
video plays are all examples of actions that business owners might want to track as events.
This feature tracks how many visitors clicked on ads and which signup form they use to subscribe to
newsletter. It provides the insights of how well each of them performs like who checks social media
profile, who gets on RSS feed. Based on those percentages business owners can choose what kind of
ads to display on the sidebar, their positions, or what signup form performs best and gives more
subscribers.
CUSTOM ALERTS
Google alerts act as a kind of watchdog for anomalies in data. Google analytics alerts work to let us
know of deviations from regular data trends that occur. The main point of alerts is to notify when
something out of the norm happens. If traffic tanks and business owners are not watching analytics
reports daily, an alert can help quickly notify in the event of traffic loss. When setting threshold limits,

Essay on Frankenstein and Blade Runner
The notion of humanity is a picture intricately painted using the ideals and morals that define us as
human beings in contextual society. The audience is influenced by the morals and values present
through techniques in texts to paint their own image of humanity. Our ideals and morals that differ in
texts through context, scrupulously shape our image of humanity
Despite different contexts, both Shelley s Frankenstein and Scott s Blade Runner enthrall the audience
in a journey to explore the inner psyche through the various perspectives that are drawn.

highlights the lack of humanity in the predicted context of 2019, depicting the replicants more human

notions of humanity in comparison to the characters present in both texts. Thus through texts, it is our

F was written in 1818, when a conversation between Shelley and Byron regarding the English culture
after the French revolution influenced the novel. Shelley drew this inspiration to focus on the lack of
contextual humanity, paralleling four skin jobs walking . It contrasts integral facets of human nature,
through the detailed characterization developed through the narratives. The ideals and morals present
reflect on the concepts of humanity portrayed through the emotive language present in the texts. These
shape our image of humanity depending on our interpretation. Shelley uses Victor s lack of humanity
as a metaphor for mankind s negligence of the dying essence of romanticism in the time the book was

troubled mind. The visual imagery created in Montanvert accentuates the

Analysis Of Stolen Childhood
In the book entitled Stolen Childhood, Second Edition: Slave Youth in Nineteenth Century America,
the thesis of which the author speaks is clearly stated in the concluding sentence of the fourth
paragraph of the introduction which says that slaves were made to work like adults even though some
were still young. They also had to face all the same conditions as adults. Far from being childlike
throughout their lives, slaves were forced to confront adult situations of work, terror, injustice, and
arbitrary power at an early age. Slaves almost had no childhood. Slave owners made youngsters start
working at 4 5 years of age. Also, in the book it mentions that the children played games (whites and
blacks played together) in which the black children were made to feel like they were lesser than the
white children. This made them feel injustice. Furthermore, children witnessed the cruel and hostile
beatings which their parents received from their owners, leaving marks and scars all over their bodies.
This made fear and terror become a frequent concern in their everyday lives. Once reaching the
middle of the book, the author had made her thesis convincing by showing situations in which young
slaves faced injustice, fear, and difficult situations of work in their everyday lives. Many of her
arguments made her thesis stronger and stronger which made it persuading. But more specifically, the
reasons why it was convincing is because one of her points states that when children were

Comparison Of The Three Cabritos And The Three Billy Goats...
The Three Cabritos is the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Tex Mex background unlike
the contrary which have more of an American culture background. The author clearly states at the end
of her book, The Three Cabritos is my own original retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a
Texas twist (Kimmel 29). The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In
The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct,
but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same
story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the
monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a
goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story.
Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the
scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are
cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The
Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and
Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories.
In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. The story goes One day the three
cabritos heard there was going to be a fiesta just across the border in Mexico. Lets Go! The three
cabritos said (Kimmel 3). They want to go the fiesta to dance and play all night. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff takes place on a field of trees and flowers that surround a meadow. In The Three Billy
Goats Gruff exact names are not given, just Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and
Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. The reason for crossing the bridge was, that they were eating all the grass
on their side and they needed more. The story reads, Yes , said his big brother, Great Big Billy Goat
Gruff. All we have to do is cross the wooden bridge, and we can eat to our hearts content (Randall 3).

Legal Implications Of In Nursing Essay
Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing
Noa Schwartz
Hunter College
Abstract
A shortage of nursing staff in a healthcare center is a great burden for all involved. For the nurse, it is
overwhelming and even potentially dangerous to take on the grand responsibility of many patients to
care for. For the patients, the burden lies in getting the care they deserve. For the hospital it is the
burden of staying afloat financially and utilizing resources to the fullest. This tug of war between
nurse, patient, and administration is key to many legal issues in healthcare. Who is responsible if any
part of this relationship goes awry? What are some solutions to help mitigate the burden? Is there a
magic number in staffing ratios? Understaffing nurses in healthcare is a gray area, with definitions that
cannot be defined indefinitely. What laws are involved and the debate if it should be a legal issue at all
is up for discussion. This paper will analyze and discuss the topic, elaborating complications and
implications this issue has in nursing.
Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing
The harsh reality of understaffing in healthcare centers is a real and prevalent issue. Nurses are being
forced to compromise care due to being given responsibility over too many patients at a time. The
New England Journal of Medicine (Needleman et al., 2002) explains how staffing issues are linked to
adverse patient outcomes. This includes length of stay in

people approach the age of 30, most self concepts remain relatively stable without significant

reflects the reality of current circumstances and previous experiences. The tendency, however, is to
resist those changes and instead seek out others than confirm the self concept. The powerful effect that

What Was The Influence Of Ashoka
The world has had many great leaders, but some of those leaders were ruthless and violent. Let s
travel back to 304 BC, when the new prince Ashoka Maurya was born to Rani Shubhadrangi and
Maharaja Bindusara, in the ancient city of Patliputra (Which is now alongside modern day Patna).
Ashoka grew up to be a dauntless, troublesome and savage young man. He admired hunting, and
legend has it, he killed a lion only with a wooden stick. His older half brothers were alarmed by this,
as they feared Ashoka, and persuaded their father to post him as a general to distant borders of the
Mauryan Empire.

Standardized Testing Has Impacted Public Schools
Students are overwhelmed with school, work, extra curricular activities, family, etc. Perhaps
standardized tests are a major contributor to students stress. A standardized test is any test scored in a
consistent manner and requires test takers to answer identical questions. Among the most common
include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Test (ACT). According to the
article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from Opposing Viewpoints in
Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I when the American
Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate inefficient recruits
(Solley 3). Today, standardized tests are necessary for college admission. Just last month, in March of
2016, College Board, the non profit organization responsible for administering the SAT, altered the
format of the test. It is now formatted more similar to the ACT and includes an optional essay
reducing the score from 2400 to 1600. Many advocates argue standardized tests accurately measure
academic intelligence and hold teachers and schools accountable. In today s society, standardized tests
have become the norm, and unfortunately, people overlook their negative effects despite research
substantiating arguments about their disadvantages. Standardized tests are disadvantageous because
they hinder education and contain bias.
First, standardized tests negatively affect education. For example,

How To Write A Reflective Essay On Report Card
For some students a report card is an accurate reflection of their abilities, aspirations, and future work

GPA s well over 4.0 grace their every progress report, and I am certain they will continue this streak of
academic excellence well into the future. For others, C s, D s and fail s are a normal occurrence, and
much like the straight A students, I have no doubt that they will continue down this path. But for some

To this day I still enjoy programming, and what some see as homework, I see as a good way to spend
a Saturday. On the other hand, I struggle to find value in classes such as Literature or History. While
there are aspects of both subjects that I enjoy, I don t believe they have any place in a required
curriculum for a high school student who knows what he wants to do. This admittedly pessimistic
view of many of my classes has led to bad work habits, and subsequently to bad grades, yet my drive
in classes that do interest me, and that I know I will one day find value in, has produced B s or even A

Essay Exploring John Mill s Harm Principle
Freedom is a necessary principle to abide by in order for the human race to function. On the other
hand, freedom can be taken advantage of, thus resulting in harmful consequences to those directly and
indirectly involved. The article, On Liberty by John S. Mills, places emphasis on the functioning of
individual liberty and its co existence with society. Mills stresses the limits of individual liberty
through what is famously known as his Harm Principle: the only purpose for which power may be
rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to
others. His own good, either physical or moral, is not a sufficient warrant (Cahn). With special
consideration placed on drug use and free ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This leads to an increase in criminal activity such as neglect of familial duties, robberies to fund their
dependency, and violence to defend their habits. The drugee becomes a nuisance to society. Some
become homeless and exhibit poor health habits such as malnutrition and tooth decay. Other negative
effects include the transference of diseases because of needle sharing. Though drug use is a personal
choice, the effects on the rest of society are undeniable. The best intentions are formulated on a
personal level, but this is overcastted by its negative effects. This argument, however, is a bit one
sided because the reason for using and dependency varies between users.
In pre modern times, drugs took on a role of medicinal use. As they were distributed in a free market
without any constraints, Opium was recommended for sleepless nights, Cocaine for anesthesia,
Hashish for relaxation (Hart, Ksir Ray). These drugs were not dubbed as harmful, therefore, under the
appropriate circumstances, provided beneficial effects to its users. More recently, individuals are more
inclined to use drugs as an escape . Stimulants provide a sort of alternate existence which tends to
reduce mental tension, increase energy, or induce euphoria (Hart, Ksir Ray). Argumentatively
speaking, drug use only affects the user, so there is no valid reasoning for impairing the freedom of
citizens by prohibiting them. Individuals benefit by having the freedom to use

Potential construction project for The City of Liverpool College LAX
Author: Matthew Ellis
Introduction:
I have been asked to put together a report for the potential construction project for The City Of
Liverpool College. The current site being looked at is on Roscoe Street. I will be discussing the
consequences which could occur to the buildings in proximity to the site location, and the people who
could be affected.
Body:
During this part of the report, I will be discussing what problems could occur during each phase (pre
construction, construction, post construction) and how you can go about preventing this from ... Show

Natural habitats:
A natural habitat is where a living being lives, for example, we live in our homes, birds live in
trees/nests. As this is a city, there isn t many places where animals can live. Birds can build the nests
and bats can live in buildings, but in terms of forestry for example, there isn t much for an animal. So
it isn t necessary to go into depth about this.
Construction:
During the construction phase, there will be a lot happening all over. This may vary from the actual
erecting of the building, to the transport of goods, to the extraction of materials needed, etc. There will
be a lot of damage done to the o zone layer, a lot of habitat and biodiversity destroyed, amongst other
things.
Transport of goods:
The transport of good is when materials that are needed for the building are transported to the site,
generally by vehicles. The problem with this is there would be a lot of materials needed to supply this
project. Nitrogen oxide is formed when the combustion of fuels takes place. Vehicles use fuels (oil) as
a source of power, which then releases nitrogen oxides into the atmosphere, which is what is
destroying our atmosphere. In the UK, this is the biggest pollutant we release. And it is done mostly
by cars.
Nitrogen oxide, when exposed over a long duration of time, can decrease lung function and also
increase the chance of getting bronchitis, cough or phlegm, which is more likely to come into

Make A Wish Foundation
Game Changer 1980 was a year like no other. It was the year Make A Wish Foundation was founded.
Bringing the opportunity for many kids around the world the opportunity to have one of there dreams
come true. Make a wish works by arranging a experiences described as wishes to children with life
threatening medical conditions. Children must be between 3 and 17 to participate. The Make A Wish
Foundation does a really good job with helping a kid s life. On the Make A Wish logo there is a star
that comes of the A. This star would stand for a shooting star that the kids would wish upon. Which
brings out the fun for a kids while they are going through such a difficult process. Make a wish has

Wish ad. Blue is a very bright color so when it come across my eye it will usually catch my attention.
Which is something that make a wish does great at. A big blue back group with big word across it that
says GAME CHANGER . I want to be a game changer is what I thought so I was already focused on
what I can do to be a game changer. Once you look closely enough you see Wishes are a game

Benefit Of Community Service
Benefits of Community Service Community service contributes to a community in the same way that
quarterbacks, wide receivers, and offensive linemen contribute to a football team. Without people
helping out, there wouldn t be a way to score a touchdown or win a game. It is the same way in
helping out a community. The more people there are helping out, more homes would be built, more
mouths would be fed, and more people would have a happy life. Some people take for granted the
clothes they have on their backs and the table they get to eat dinner at with their family. There are
plenty of people in communities that do not have a home to come to every night. There are plenty of
people that do not have the clothes, food, or money they need to survive. People are not the only thing
that needs help in the community. Animal shelters are also one of many that could always use an extra
hand. Recycling and picking up trash is another way to help out. One of the best ways to contribute to
the community is volunteering and contributing time to helping others. Studies show that community
service contributes to the emotional, mental, and physical well being of people at any age. The
Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) says in the year 2013, 138 million
American adults volunteered. To break it down, the CNCS found the following information: adults
between the ages of 35 44 had the highest volunteer rate, adults between the ages 45 54 had the
second highest, and one in

Christians Have All Of God
Christians have certain responsibilities to uphold in order to call themselves Christians . To be a said,
Christian , is not simply believing in God, but having a devoted relationship with him and living every
aspect of life with the all omnipotent creator as the center. Throughout my life I have fallen short of
these expectations again and again in a cycle we call, sin. However, God forgives this sin daily with
such grace and mercy. I believe God will use my sin, my life, in ways that I can not even begin to
fathom, to further his kingdom. This past summer I served as a counselor at a local christian camp.
During my first week of counseling I met a boy named Blake. Blake was the sort of kid who walked
into indoor registration with his shades on, sleeves rolled up and bandanas plastered on his arms and
legs. The kid that everyone warned you about, the kid nobody wanted. I observed at Blake that first
day and felt a sense of empathy and compassion. I remember seeing this kid at previous camps. The
kid that came from a broken home, a rough neighbourhood or simply had a tough teacher. The one
that everyone wanted to avoid, despite being in a Christian camp. During quiet devotion time on the
second day, I took the station Blake had lumped himself into. He had sunk himself down into a bag of
balls so you could barely see his small body as he snickered in rebellion. His other friends play
basketball and giggle at him. I walk in and they instantly soften their laughter and

The Cost Of College Education
Bernie Sanders, senator of the state of Vermont said, The cost of college education today is so high
that many young people are giving up their dream of going to college, while many others are
graduating deeply in debt ( Brainy Quote ). Each year students take out loans to pay for a college
education. Is it really necessary? They are just going to be a statistic. I believe everyone should not go
to college. College is not for everyone.
I believe everyone should not go to college. Not everyone should go to college. Most jobs do not need
a college degree to be hired. The more work experience you have the more you will earn. Many
students are forced to go to college, many just want to stay home and work. When students go to
college, they go to have a career. When students graduate from college they get a job. Robert Reich,
chancellor s professor of public policy at UC Berkeley, wrote an article about why college isn t for
everyone. Reich stated, Last year, according to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, 46 percent of
recent college graduates were in jobs that don t even require a college degree. This means that students
do not choose what to study. They study because they just want to continue school. Getting a bachelor
s degree in anything can help but most jobs or careers are looking for work experience of any kind.
College does not give you work experience.
The student debt is rising higher each year. When students do not have enough money to go pay for

Criticism of the CSDP
There has been relatively little criticism of the CSDP. This is generally due to the secret nature of
many of the deals, the complexity thereof as well as the long term deliverables, my point in case the
current nuclear deal. Consequently, the South African general public are more often than not informed
of the deals at the publicity worthy events such as ribbon cutting ceremonies or grants provided to
local industry. Relatively limited information is, however, available about the long term sustainability
and impact of the CSDP.
Returning to the Demand and Supply Side Dynamics Principle, the CSDP takes for granted that there
is a steady flow of localised small Black owned businesses. However, the latest independent growth
figures of Entrepreneurship in South Africa reveal a decline in Entrepreneurial Activity in South
Africa. Using the analogy between Supplier Development and the manufacturing process, without the

Glacier Ice Research Paper
Glaciers and Desserts Exercise
The difference between an ice sheet and a glacier; an ice sheet or continental glaciers is a chunk of
glacier ice that is the largest and the thickest type of glacier that can be almost unbelievable. They are
massive and can cover large islands and the land surrounding it as it can be greater than 50,000
kilometers wide. If melted, they contain enough water to raise sea level about 66m (216 ft.). Glaciers
are smaller and move on average, a little slower but have remarkable ability to carry a huge volume of
water in a stream. A glacier ice forms, where the depth of the snow increases, as the snow
accumulation exceeds, a deep snowpack forms as it is compressed into ice under great pressure it then
begins to flow down the mountain. When the glacier gets to a point where the melting begins the rate
of accumulation dwindles and stops.

water can be held and that side of the mountain gets rain. The cooler the air that crosses over

precipitation to the point of forming a rain shadow desert.
4). Cold ocean currents is because cold water evaporates at a much slower rate than warm water by
forming fewer clouds with much less precipitation.

The Critique Of Kenneth Branagh s The Hamlet
In 1996, British actor and director, Kenneth Branagh took on the production of the film The Hamlet. It
is notable that Branagh took into consideration the play s intricate detail as he built around the film. In
his directing effort, he made both plausible and not so brilliant decisions too. It is commendable to a
given extent that Branagh maintained Shakespearean language throughout the film. However, he did
away with a significant part of the play s ambiguous quality by making plain, mindful decisions on
aspects such as setting, characterization and others in the film. Branagh put it in the Napoleonic era
rather than the Middle Ages according to Shakespeare s original version. BRANAGH S DIRECTOR
CONCEPT EMPLOYED STRATEGIES AIMED AT CREATING A BLOWN UP DRAMATIC
VISION OF HAMLET. Several cinematic basics, such as the film s melodic make, compliment
Branagh s complex vision of the film and intrigue the audience.
Several of Branagh s directorial implementations in Hamlet sync well to make the film both
enchanting and witty. His choice to slightly modernize the setting creates a more pompous set plus
costume design that becomes an aesthetic quality to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These frequent visualizations create even stronger assertions about Hamlet; which assertions Branagh
risked to include within his version of the film. For example, around the opening of the film, when
Hamlet follows the Ghost into the woods and he spills the details of his demise to Hamlet, a visualized
thought montage appears. The Ghost recounts his death at the hands of Claudius and as the Ghost
narrates, a montage of the events plays. This montage gives the audience a comprehensible illustration
of the Ghost s story as Hamlet draws images of it in his own mind. Instead of showing the
visualization of either Hamlet or the Ghost, Branagh shows the true moments for the audience to critic

The midterm is coming up fast, and I am excited that I have already completed two of the four steps
for memorizing in Experience Psychology. The first two steps, organizing and encoding, I have
completed as we moved through each session. Encoding early on is an important step because I was
able to introduce each concept to my brain one by one as it was learned, rather than cramming it all in
at once. That leaves me with two steps to complete before I can complete my test: Rehearsing and
Retrieving. In order to rehearse, or practice, the information I have learned I first must create the right
environment. Where I am studying makes a large impact on how well I will take in the information
(Silver, 2008). I know that I work best studying off of paper (not a computer screen), being

The Trailer For Kill Bill
The trailer for Kill Bill: Vol. 1 (2003), the fourth film directed by Quentin Tarantino, is a fast paced,
violent, and action packed trailer that pays homage to Japanese sword fighting, martial arts, and
gunplay. The main character known as The Bride (Uma Thurman), is a former assassin whose former
lover, Bill (David Carradine) attempted to kill her on her wedding day. After waking up from a coma,
The Bride begins to tell her story about how she was attacked by the Deadly Viper Assassination
Squad, which she was once a part of, while pregnant. The trailer begins with the click sound of a
revolver s hammer being pulled back, and then firing. The camera is then positioned behind The Bride
s butt, as she begins to narrate her story. Frames of the bullet are shown as she talks, until it hits its
victim The Bride. She hits the floor in her wedding gown, after being shot in the head. A montage of
violent sequences that start in an average suburban neighborhood, where she fights Vernita Green

perpetrators of these violent acts are the female characters, instead of the male characters. The

James E. Porter’s Idea of Originality in Intertextuality...
Since I arrived in the United States one of the first concepts that was introduced to me was the concept
of plagiarism and the severity of its consequences. Since that moment I see myself focusing much
more on paraphrasing and not committing plagiarism than the quality of the ideas that I am writing.
However, I have noted that most of my ideas and opinions are probably based on somebody else s
work I might have read before. Therefore, is it not plagiarism? In the article Intertextuality and the
Discourse Community, James E. Porter challenges the idea of what plagiarism truly is. He states that it
is almost impossible to write without committing some sort of plagiarism. Instead, Porter introduces
the concept of intertextuality, which he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What he describes as originality is to take somebody else s ideas and create new perspectives and
opinions based on those points of view. In other words, Porter suggests that creativity is a matter of
interpretation and that anything we write is the result of what we interpret when we read. That is why
taking other s ideas to draw knew opinions should not be called plagiarism because inevitable all
writing contains some sort of intertextuality. One can say that intertextuality is necessary for a writer
to have a better understanding of what they read. As an international student myself, paraphrasing is
one of the aspects that turns writing into a nightmare for me. Since my vocabulary is somewhat
reduced, I have to focus more on making my sentences look as different as possible to the original
texts. I was so scared of committing plagiarism that I did not even consider the aspect of using the
author s ideas and creating my own opinions. Instead I preferred to follow the norm and paraphrase as
much as possible. Sometimes I felt my professors paid much more attention to what I might have
plagiarized rather than the quality of my own ideas. That is why writing turned into a systematic
process in which I would only have to know how to rephrase sentences and I would be fine. In the
moment I read Porter s essay I thought it was contradictory to all

Fire Escape Code Summary
Fire Escape Codes Summary The paper I am doing an overview on is Fire Escape Codes In Historic
Buildings by Jeff T. Johnson. Johnson focuses on a town in Rhode Island called Pawtucket. In 1793,
America s first textile mill was built, but decades later there were 100 other mills constructed. By the
1940 s, most of these mills were abandoned and out of shape until Rhode Island passed it s Historic
Preservation Tac Credit. The reason for this shift in the 1940 s was because after World War II, textile
mills moved south for cheaper labor. This then turned these old mills into residential homes relying on
adequate fire escapes. Then Johnson brings up Richard Moe who is the President of the National Trust
for Historic Preservation. He brings up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Shirtwaist fire of 1911 which had many deaths at each one, there was a change in codes that became
more rigorous in preventing deaths and injuries in fire emergencies. Then Johnson states that John H.
Lienhard the University of Houston s College of Engineering says that mid nineteenth century
buildings were not originally built for fire safety. It wasn t until after tragic events happened that led to
fire escape, fire escapes and fire safety in general. Then in 1968, New York banned all exterior fire
escapes for new building projects because interior stairwells were considered safer. Then Johnson
brings up Vincent J. Dunn who is a retired deputy chief with New York s fire department. Dunn notes
that there are only 200,000 fire escapes that remain in the city. Because of age and poor maintence,
fire escapes susceptible to rust, corrosion and collapse. Even with fire escapes being banned or no

Group s Decision Making Process

Group projects challenge students to not only accomplish a more difficult task, but accomplish it
while working in groups. For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the
importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s
decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and
hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which
sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group
members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a
problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to
get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to
choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked
best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed
appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I
acted like the spokesperson in my group. Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for
meetings, when future meetings would be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I
mentioned earlier, we made decisions as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to

Lung Cancers And Its Effects
INTRODUCTION
What are lung cancers? Lung cancers are the abnormal cells which grow in uncontrolled manner in
one or both lungs. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung
tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions of the lung
(Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely non small cell
lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be further classified into
three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma
(Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray, computerised tomography
(CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography (PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy
and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often diagnosed at the later stages. This is
due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at the earlier stages. NSCLC are often
diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at
stage IV. Lung cancer usually originates from the cells lining the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli.

Mask You Live In Psychology
The film The Mask You Live In was written, filmed and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. It was
released on January 25, 2015 at the premiere of the Sundance Film Festival. Jennifer also released a
similar film called Miss Representation, a film about what the expectations of a woman were
according to the media. According to the film, using hyper masculinity among boys and young men
through parental teachings and social expectations in the United States negatively affects them
psychologically as it affects their way of decision making and become more isolated throughout their
lives. I firmly agree with Newsom s message she was trying to send out to her intended audience, the
parents and our society at large communicated through statistics shown as title sequences and the
testimonies coming from boys and men who were once at risk.
Jennifer Siebel Newsom was born on June 19, 1974 in San Francisco, CA and is the eldest of four
sisters in her family. As stated by Stanford Women, Newsom graduated from Stanford University with
honors obtaining a Bachelor s degree in 1996 and an MBA in 2001. According to contributor Frank
Miniter s article Is Masculinity Toxic?, Jennifer Siebel Newsom is married to Gavin Newsom, a
former San Francisco mayor and currently a Lieutenant Governor of California and eventually raised
four children. Also, as stated in Michael Mechanic s article Be a Man. What Does That Even Mean?,
she says, her inspiration for creating the film came after the

Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom
Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom
Alan F. Westin, a privacy expert at Columbia University, once wrote: Privacy is the claim of
individuals, groups, or institutions to determine for themselves when, how, and to what extent
information about them is communicated to others (self information control right). In this age of mass
media, individual privacy has become a casualty of journalists feeding frenzy and it has become really
hard for societies to determine the nature and process of information in the public domain. In this
article I reflect on the problem in Nepal s context.
Despite being a social animal, every human being seeks seclusion and solitude within the open mirror
of society. Privacy is inherent in the behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The current interim constitution (article 28) stipulates that except on the circumstance as provided by
the law, the privacy of the person, his or her residence, property, document, statistics, correspondence
and character is inviolable
Similarly, the constitution of the country also guarantees freedom of the press (article 15 interim
constitution, 2063). It ensures the right to freedom of press and publication. This right was included as
a specific fundamental right in previous Constitution of Nepal 2047.
Freedom of the press means the right to print and publish without any interference from the state or
any public authority. The liberty of the press consists freedom from prior restraints upon publication of
content. Freedom of the press also means freedom of dissemination, news and views from diverse and
antagonistic sources for the knowledge and welfare of the people.
The Press and Publication Act (2048), a new version of the earlier Press and Publication Act (2039),
also guaranteed the constitutional freedom of the press. The Gali Beizzati Ain 2016 (such as in article
3 and 8) recognizes freedom of the press. It says that every human being shall enjoy free press,
without any discrimination on the ground of race, color, sex etc.
There are, however, very few International Conventions which guarantee right to privacy, but there are
several conventions regarding press freedom. For example, the right to privacy is enumerated in
article 12 of the Universal

The Trafficking Of Human Trafficking Essay
In this essay, the history of human trafficking will be examined, followed by who is affected by
trafficking. Next the scope and types of exploitation will be discussed. Human trafficking is an issue
that affects countries all over the world. Governments have made an effort to curb trafficking,
however these efforts have been very narrowly focused. American ignorance has led to poor handling
of the issues by policy makers. Finally the essay will discuss a proposed solution and set some goals
for society to work on in the future.
When examining the traditional definition of slavery, it focuses on one human being taking ownership
of another. Traditionally slaves were transported by lengthy sea voyages. However, with
advancements in transportation human trafficking victims can be quickly and easily moved around the
world (Kara 67). According to Robert Uy, Trafficking, prostitution, and slavery have existed since the
beginning of civilization and, while at times have been prohibited, have continued to exist (215).
Slaves can be exploited virtually forever with a form of slavery known as bonded labor, which has
existed for centuries. Individuals involved in this type of slavery are often loaned money with the
agreement to work of the debt; unfortunately, the pay is so low the debt is almost never repaid (Kara
67). Despite legislative efforts to pass effective anti trafficking and anti forced labor laws, the
overwhelming focus has been on preventing sex trafficking. This coupled

Juxtaposition In Devil In The White City
The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is a nonfiction novel that sets during the building of the
1893 Chicago World s Fair, known as The World s Columbian Exposition as well. The novel describes
the process of building the fair and the architect who builds it to the evil murderer who exploits the
fair to lure in his victims. Erik Larson uses rhetorical strategies such as selective connotation and word
choice, imagery, and juxtaposition, to contrast the white city from the black city. Contrary to the white
city which was the exposition, the black city, the rest of Chicago, brought negativity and hatred to the
people.
In it was a blighted, hellish place full of noise and dust and smoke and inhuman towers that blocked
the sun and she hated it hated especially this gloomy building and the ceaseless clamor of construction
(Larson 123), the black city is described through selective connotation and word choice. Larson
creating an unpleasant mood by using such negative and degrading words such as blighted, hellish,
and inhuman to describe Chicago, readers can envision a hateful and dull place. By placing and in
front of the negative words: blighted, hellish, and inhuman and repeating and multiple times, the list of
unappealing attributes of the city is elongated. Essentially, Chicago is envisioned in a worse way than
if the negative adjectives were just listed one after another without the effect that and carries,
emphasizing the hatred the character held towards

Dangers Of Water Purification
Impacts of Water Purification on our society The Dangers of Drinking unpurified water
Did you know that only two and half percent of the earths fresh water is okay to drink and less than
one percent of that is available to humans and fresh water ecosystems and the rest is frozen away in
the ice in artic and ant artic areas. One of the biggest problems today in 2017 is people having purified
water. Having such a big population and our way of life is killing our earth. This way of our life is
destroying our fresh water ecosystems and is making it very difficult for us to have clean drinking
water. Although there are some simple solutions to this problem. Purified water has a huge impact on
our society socially and economically.
Twelve percent of our earth s population uses eighty five percent of its water. 1.2 billion people in our
earth our do not have easy access to clean drinking water. Due to the shortage of pure water it has
caused 250 million deceases, leading to 5 10 million deaths annually just because of pure water. The
problem of purified water has put a lot of stress on developing countries. Developing countries can
often afford a sanitation plant and the facilities to run a sanitation plant and have the water run to
families in urban areas but the problem is that it is often too expensive, or they don t have everything
to reach rural areas leaving a lot of poor families without pure water. In Africa the women are given
the responsibility to collect water for

The Gravitational Pull Of The Sun And Moon
The constant pattern of rising and receding of the sea level is called the tide. But just what causes
this?... Gravity, to be more specific the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon.
The best way to understand how the tides work is first acknowledging the relationship between the
rotation of the earth with the Moon and Sun. As we know the Earth spins on an axis, the water on
earth is kept at equal levels all around the planet by a combination of gravity pulling inward and
centrifugal force pushing outward.
Just the Moon s gravitational forces alone are strong enough to interrupt this balance by speeding
pushing the water towards the Moon. This makes the water to swell. As the Moon circles Earth and as
our planet rotates, the swell also moves. The areas of the Earth where the swells occur have a high tide
and the other areas will have a low tide. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here s an analogy: imagine yourself trying to swing a heavy object like a rock attached to a rope
around your waist as you spin. You have to lean back to compensate, which in turn makes the center
of mass between you and the object. gravity could be explained and an invisible rope that holds
objects together, and centrifugal force is a boundary between to two objects. Because if the centrifugal
force is stronger than the Moon s gravitational pull, ocean water on the other side of the Earth pulls

Figure 1. Prisoner 1 s Dilemma as a 2 x 2 Matrix, Figure 1 shows the Prisoner s Dilemma as a 2 x 2

a) 2 (x1) is greater than x2 + x3 is greater than 2 (x4)
b) x3 is greater than x1
c) x3 is greater than x2
d) x4 is greater than x2.
C and D represent strategies in which players would cooperate or defect .
What this means is that for both players, strategy 2 dominates strategy 1 (A2 dominates A1 for the row
player and B2 dominates 31 for the column player). However, the choice (A2, B2) results in a payoff

South Korea s order of preference among the choices are:
1. unification under a democratic system,
2. peaceful unification
3. the status quo,
4. unification under a communist system.
What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma? First, neither
North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second, each side sees the opponents
most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome. Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to
the status quo. And lastly, neither side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result
of this is, as in the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North
(B2 dominating B1) and South (A2 dominating A1). Specifically, North Korea prefers a communist
settlement of unification to either the status quo or a peaceful unification. South Korea prefers a
democratic settlement to either the status que or a peaceful unification. Thus, the dilemma that faces
both sides is: since neither side can have its own best choice, they settle for the status quo. This is
done in spite of the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful
unification) that might be better for both sides than their own optimal choice. Neither side can choose
collective interest over self interest because they are forced to assume that the other will follow the

Descriptive Essay About Cars
Most people hate car trips with family. I think car rides can be entertaining for a little bit but after
being in the car for a long time people start to get restless and irritated easily. One time my mother and
two sisters and my three friends and their mother drove down to Florida and went on a cruise to the
Bahamas. It took about seventeen hours to get to Florida. There were eight people in a cramped car for
hours on end. My mother and and her friend Becky got tickets for a four day cruise ship that leaves
from Florida to the Bahamas for about two hundreds dollars a person. We had to drive from Indiana to
Florida . We left at midnight on a cold January day so most of the car ride was spent sleeping. We left
so early because we wanted to make it to the cruse on time and have some extra time to site see. I got
to sit in the very back with Mike and Grace. My older sister Brittani, younger sister Lily and Caleb sat
in the middle row of seats. We had packed a bunch of snacks and drinks for the trip because we didn t
want to have to stop every time someone got hungry or thirsty. When everyone started waking up
people started to fight over food and being close to each other, everyone was very peevish when they
woke up. It was getting warmer in the cramped car, everyone was getting uncomfortable. On the way
down to Florida we drove through Atlanta, Georgia, where AMC filmed the first couple episodes of
the show The Walking Dead. We finally got to Florida at four in the

  • 2. Brita Filters Brita pour through filters remove impurities from tap water through the science of adsorption. Different from absorption, adsorption happens when particles or molecules adhere to a surface. The activated carbon and ion exchange resins in Brita filters attract and adsorb particles in tap water, making it better tasting and cleaner. As with any pour through system, there is a limited amount of surface area within the filter for adsorbing particles, which is why your filter needs to be changed every 40 gallons or approximately every two months. All Brita filters and containers are BPA free and keep your water tasting great. For over 20 years, the scientists at Brita® have worked to give you healthier and great tasting water*. The Brita® pitcher filter uses technology which combines coconut based activated carbon with ion exchange resin in a BPA free housing. These materials work together to reduce chlorine taste and odor, zinc, and harmful contaminants copper, mercury and cadmium. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The major claim made by Brita regarding its water filters is that they remove enough of the bad stuff in tap water to make it taste better and make it safe and healthy for drinking. They also claim that it is a far cheaper option than buying bottled water, which infers that their water is just as clean as the kind you d buy in a bottle, either spring water or water that has been filtered like ... • 3. Expressionism In Pink Panther When examining art, art theory can provide useful tools in understanding, appreciating, and extracting both superficial and deeper meanings from the work. It also assists in quantifying what art is; the case has been made that artistic license does not equate art, and boundaries help to create context and meaning. In Terry Barrett s book, Why is That Art?: Aesthetics and Criticism of Contemporary Art, he delves into art theory through the lens of realism, cognitivism, and expressionism, using contributions from theorists both ancient and modern. Renowned pop artist, Jeff Koons, presents something of an analytical conundrum in much of his art, as it can be analyzed through the lens of all three categories. His sculpture, Pink Panther, when analyzed through realism, provides a succinct reflection of many deeply ingrained cultural attitudes and expectations. The following will analyze Pink Panther using realism theory, offering a sample process of how such an analysis could occur. It will also subsequently evaluate the interpretation, highlighting the strengths and weaknesses that can be found when applying certain perspectives in art theory to a specific work of art. Realism Interpretation In Pink Panther, Koons used glazed porcelain to sculpt the image on the Pink Panther cartoon embracing a topless woman, who is holding her breast. The fluidity of line is realistic, but the reflective glaze renders the figures shiny like a plastic toy. This, combined with the array of bold ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Eggers and Eve Tushnet On 2 May 2002, The New York Post published an article about the use of surveillance cameras in public places written by William D. Entitled Big Brother s Eyes and printed on The Post s opinion page, William (Bill) Eggers was born in 1967 and is an American writer and government consultant. Ban government from using face recognition and other biometric technologies. Sounds good, but it won t work. For one thing, the spycams are already here and Congress is highly unlikely to pass a law forcing every city in the country to take down their cameras. What s more, the ban everything approach ignores the technologies plain benefits. Any woman who s had to walk through a deserted parking garage to her car knows why many people might welcome cameras. With many advances ahead, computer linked surveillance cameras can already identify crimes as they occur, reduce false arrests and convictions and provide much better evidence than notoriously unreliable witness testimony. Linked to biometric databases, the cameras can help prevent fraud, find a lost child, and keep terrorists out of airports and pedophiles out of schools. The logic here is specious just because the spycams are already here does not mean that they aren t going away. Police surveillance cameras were installed in Times Square in the late 1960s, but were taken down because they were judged to be cost ineffective: in 22 months of operation, they led to the arrest of only 10 people, all for minor infractions. • 5. Lady Gaga And Pop Culture From pop star sensation to fashion icon, Lady Gaga has influenced pop culture in many ways. After her 2008 hit single Just Dance the singer quickly gained fame for her unique techno pop music. From there on she has acquired a huge following and quickly took over the world of pop music. The singer then used the newly popular twitter website to tweet to her fans. She encouraged them to love themselves, spread positivity to one another, and most importantly funded her Born This Way Foundation in hopes of helping bullied victims. Not only did she use her music and social media account to influence her fans, she also made a broad fashion statement to motivate her fans to be weird, different, and unique. Many people still remember her famous meat dress she walked the red carpet in, while others reminisce on all the outrageous outfits she s worn over the years. Over the last nine years, this pop star diva continues to top the charts with her music, spreading kindness, and walking the streets wearing memorable outfits. Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta was born March 28, 1986 in Upper East Side Manhattan, New York. • 6. Heinrich Himmler And His Life Essay Heinrich Himmler was born on October 7th, 1900 in Munich to a middle class Bavarian family. His father was Joseph Gebhard Himmler, a secondary school teacher and principal. His mother was Anna Maria Himmler (maiden name Heyder), a devout Catholic and extremely attentive mother. Heinrich had an older brother, Gebhard Ludwig Himmler, and a younger brother, Ernst Hermann Himmler. Heinrich was named after his godparent, Prince Heinrich of Wittelsbach of the royal family of Bavaria, who was tutored by Gebhard Himmler. Educated at secondary school in Landshut, Himmler served as an officer cadet in the 11th Bavarian Regiment at the end of WW1, although he saw no active service. After working briefly as a salesman for a fertilizer manufacturing firm, Heinrich Himmler joined the Nazi party and in the November of 1923 participated in the Beer Hall Putsch as a standard bearer at the side of Ernst Rohm. All of these roles combined together were a major reason for Heinrich Himmler being chosen for the jobs he received later in his militaristic life. It is surprising, that Heinrich Himmler, the chief of the SS and the primary architect of the Holocaust, has not attracted the attentions of more biographers. For all that he had taken part in for the history of the Third Reich, he appears to lack the infamous charisma of Heydrich or Hitler, and because of this lack of infamous charisma he has been presented only rarely as a primary subject for a book about the holocaust and the ... The three issues faced by the principal are, did the student violate the school s drug/ weapon policy, what was the student s intent, and lastly, what should the consequences be for the student s actions? In the first case an African American female was discovered taking a pill that she claimed was allergy medication. The school district defines drugs as marijuana or a controlled substance as defined by 21 U.S.C. Section 801 et seq.; or a dangerous drug otherwise defined in the State Safety code. The penalty is immediate assignment to the alternative school for one semester. In order to determine if the student violated the drug policy I would contact the student s parents to get confirmation that the student is taking the medication with the parent s knowledge and ask the parent to bring the bottle to confirm the medication. Then, I would show the medication to the person who witnessed the student taking the pill to confirm that the pills in the bottle are the same as the pill that they saw the student taking. Furthermore, I would have the student examined by the nurse and monitor the student to see if any signs of impairment could be observed. After determining if the student had violated the school s drug policy or not I would assign the in school suspension for a few days because even over the counter drugs are not permitted ... Thus through texts, it is our ideals and morals shape our image of humanity. • 10. Analysis Of Stolen Childhood In the book entitled Stolen Childhood, Second Edition: Slave Youth in Nineteenth Century America, the thesis of which the author speaks is clearly stated in the concluding sentence of the fourth paragraph of the introduction which says that slaves were made to work like adults even though some were still young. They also had to face all the same conditions as adults. Far from being childlike throughout their lives, slaves were forced to confront adult situations of work, terror, injustice, and arbitrary power at an early age. Slaves almost had no childhood. Slave owners made youngsters start working at 4 5 years of age. Also, in the book it mentions that the children played games (whites and blacks played together) in which the black children were made to feel like they were lesser than the white children. This made them feel injustice. Furthermore, children witnessed the cruel and hostile beatings which their parents received from their owners, leaving marks and scars all over their bodies. This made fear and terror become a frequent concern in their everyday lives. Once reaching the middle of the book, the author had made her thesis convincing by showing situations in which young slaves faced injustice, fear, and difficult situations of work in their everyday lives. Many of her arguments made her thesis stronger and stronger which made it persuading. • 11. Comparison Of The Three Cabritos And The Three Billy Goats... The Three Cabritos is the retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Tex Mex background unlike the contrary which have more of an American culture background. The author clearly states at the end of her book, The Three Cabritos is my own original retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff with a Texas twist (Kimmel 29). The background and the writing of the tale but told in different cultures. In The Three Cabritos and The Three Billy Goats Gruff , the main characters appearances are distinct, but the story follows the same plot line. The main characters appearances being distinct but the same story also has a couple dissimilarities. One of the main differences between the two stories is that the monster in The Three Cabritos is a Cupacabra whereas the monster in The Three Billy Goats Gruff is a goblin. By changing the monster the author incorporates the Tex Mex culture into the story. Additionally, the cultural backgrounds are extremely different for example, The Three Cabritos the scene is a ranch located near the Rio Grande filled with cactus. Also in the sketches, the goats are cartoon farm animals and the cabritos are dressed in overalls while holding their instruments. In The Three Cabritos the cabritos are given typical Hispanic culture names: Reynaldo, Orlando, and Augustin. The purpose for the cabritos to cross the bridge is also a difference between the two stories. In The Three Cabritos the reason they crossed was to attend a fiesta. The story goes One day the three cabritos heard there was going to be a fiesta just across the border in Mexico. Lets Go! The three cabritos said (Kimmel 3). They want to go the fiesta to dance and play all night. In The Three Billy Goats Gruff takes place on a field of trees and flowers that surround a meadow. In The Three Billy Goats Gruff exact names are not given, just Little Billy Goat Gruff, Middle Billy Goat Gruff, and Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. The reason for crossing the bridge was, that they were eating all the grass on their side and they needed more. The story reads, Yes , said his big brother, Great Big Billy Goat Gruff. • 13. Legal Implications Of In Nursing Essay Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing Noa Schwartz Hunter College Abstract A shortage of nursing staff in a healthcare center is a great burden for all involved. For the nurse, it is overwhelming and even potentially dangerous to take on the grand responsibility of many patients to care for. For the patients, the burden lies in getting the care they deserve. For the hospital it is the burden of staying afloat financially and utilizing resources to the fullest. This tug of war between nurse, patient, and administration is key to many legal issues in healthcare. Who is responsible if any part of this relationship goes awry? What are some solutions to help mitigate the burden? Is there a magic number in staffing ratios? Understaffing nurses in healthcare is a gray area, with definitions that cannot be defined indefinitely. What laws are involved and the debate if it should be a legal issue at all is up for discussion. This paper will analyze and discuss the topic, elaborating complications and implications this issue has in nursing. Legal Implications of Understaffing in Nursing The harsh reality of understaffing in healthcare centers is a real and prevalent issue. Nurses are being forced to compromise care due to being given responsibility over too many patients at a time. The New England Journal of Medicine (Needleman et al., 2002) explains how staffing issues are linked to adverse patient outcomes. This includes length of stay in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Standardized Testing Has Impacted Public Schools Students are overwhelmed with school, work, extra curricular activities, family, etc. Perhaps standardized tests are a major contributor to students stress. A standardized test is any test scored in a consistent manner and requires test takers to answer identical questions. Among the most common include the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) and the American College Test (ACT). According to the article Standardized Testing Has Negatively Impacted Public Schools from Opposing Viewpoints in Context, the beginnings of standardized tests occurred during World War I when the American Psychological Association developed a ground administered test to eliminate inefficient recruits (Solley 3). Today, standardized tests are necessary for college admission. Just last month, in March of 2016, College Board, the non profit organization responsible for administering the SAT, altered the format of the test. It is now formatted more similar to the ACT and includes an optional essay reducing the score from 2400 to 1600. Many advocates argue standardized tests accurately measure academic intelligence and hold teachers and schools accountable. In today s society, standardized tests have become the norm, and unfortunately, people overlook their negative effects despite research substantiating arguments about their disadvantages. Standardized tests are disadvantageous because they hinder education and contain bias. First, standardized tests negatively affect education. For example, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Many friends of mine have flawless, or near flawless, report cards. Straight A s and weighted GPA s well over 4.0 grace their every progress report, and I am certain they will continue this streak of academic excellence well into the future. For others, C s, D s and fail s are a normal occurrence, and much like the straight A students, I have no doubt that they will continue down this path. To this day I still enjoy programming, and what some see as homework, I see as a good way to spend a Saturday. On the other hand, I struggle to find value in classes such as Literature or History. While there are aspects of both subjects that I enjoy, I don t believe they have any place in a required curriculum for a high school student who knows what he wants to do. This admittedly pessimistic view of many of my classes has led to bad work habits, and subsequently to bad grades, yet my drive in classes that do interest me, and that I know I will one day find value in, has produced B s or even A s for the first time in years. For instance, once I recognized the potential of math in computer programming, even including concepts I never thought I d use(such as imaginary numbers), my grades in my math classes skyrocketed. I brought a C in mathematical analysis up to a B, and this year in AP Calculus I ve started the year well with an A in the first semester. Yet another example of my success in subject areas I care about is my time spent in the Academic Decathlon program. I had heard about this team and their many successes even before entering high school, but when my grades started to slip I figured I had no chance at joining. However, the Academic Decathlon program accepts students with a variety of GPA s who make up three different teams accordingly. I found my niche on the Varsity, or C Team, and right from ... • 20. Essay Exploring John Mill s Harm Principle Freedom is a necessary principle to abide by in order for the human race to function. On the other hand, freedom can be taken advantage of, thus resulting in harmful consequences to those directly and indirectly involved. The article, On Liberty by John S. Mills, places emphasis on the functioning of individual liberty and its co existence with society. Mills stresses the limits of individual liberty through what is famously known as his Harm Principle: the only purpose for which power may be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others. Though drug use is a personal choice, the effects on the rest of society are undeniable. The best intentions are formulated on a personal level, but this is overcastted by its negative effects. This argument, however, is a bit one sided because the reason for using and dependency varies between users. In pre modern times, drugs took on a role of medicinal use. As they were distributed in a free market without any constraints, Opium was recommended for sleepless nights, Cocaine for anesthesia, Hashish for relaxation (Hart, Ksir Ray). These drugs were not dubbed as harmful, therefore, under the appropriate circumstances, provided beneficial effects to its users. More recently, individuals are more inclined to use drugs as an escape . Stimulants provide a sort of alternate existence which tends to reduce mental tension, increase energy, or induce euphoria (Hart, Ksir Ray). Argumentatively speaking, drug use only affects the user, so there is no valid reasoning for impairing the freedom of citizens by prohibiting them. As this is a city, there isn t many places where animals can live. Birds can build the nests and bats can live in buildings, but in terms of forestry for example, there isn t much for an animal. So it isn t necessary to go into depth about this. Construction: During the construction phase, there will be a lot happening all over. This may vary from the actual erecting of the building, to the transport of goods, to the extraction of materials needed, etc. There will be a lot of damage done to the o zone layer, a lot of habitat and biodiversity destroyed, amongst other things. The problem with this is there would be a lot of materials needed to supply this project. Nitrogen oxide is formed when the combustion of fuels takes place. The more people there are helping out, more homes would be built, more mouths would be fed, and more people would have a happy life. Throughout my life I have fallen short of these expectations again and again in a cycle we call, sin. However, God forgives this sin daily with such grace and mercy. I believe God will use my sin, my life, in ways that I can not even begin to fathom, to further his kingdom. This past summer I served as a counselor at a local christian camp. The reason for this shift in the 1940 s was because after World War II, textile mills moved south for cheaper labor. • 39. Group s Decision Making Process Group Reflection Paper Group projects challenge students to not only accomplish a more difficult task, but accomplish it while working in groups. For this particular video project, I learned about my leadership style and the importance of enthusiasm when working in groups. Later in this paper, I will reflect my group s decision making process, dynamics, strengths, and flaws. The decision making process went hand and hand with the dynamic of the group. Decisions were made by receiving input from others, which sometimes worked better than others. I found myself seeking approval from my fellow group members before moving forward. Since my group worked together harmoniously, this was never a problem; however, I suspect some of the harmony came from people simply wanting to go along to get along. If at any point we disagreed, usually the problem was we had too many good ideas to choose from, not because someone chose to be stubborn. Even so, after discussing which idea worked best for our project, we d go with the majority vote. Everyone remained civil, and expressed appreciation toward all ideas shared. Collaboration worked in our favor when making decisions. I acted like the spokesperson in my group. Typically, I would ask the group what our goals were for meetings, when future meetings would be, and how to proceed after accomplishing small tasks. As I mentioned earlier, we made decisions as a group, but I found I addressed the problems or conflicts to the group. Keeping my ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Lung Cancers And Its Effects INTRODUCTION What are lung cancers? Lung cancers are the abnormal cells which grow in uncontrolled manner in one or both lungs. They do not function as normal lung cells and do not develop into healthy lung tissue. The abnormal cells can grow, form tumours and interfere with the normal functions of the lung (Lungcancer.org, 2015). Lung cancers can be divided into two major types, namely non small cell lung cancers (NSCLC) and small cell lung cancers (SCLC). NSCLC can be further classified into three main subtypes, namely adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma and large cell carcinoma (Longo Harrison, 2012). Lung cancers can be diagnosed by chest X ray, computerised tomography (CT) scan, positron emission tomography computerised tomography (PET CT) scan, bronchoscopy and biopsy (Nhs.uk, 2015). Unfortunately, lung cancers are often diagnosed at the later stages. This is due to the unrecognisable symptoms and warning signs at the earlier stages. NSCLC are often diagnosed at stage IV which accounts for 30 40% of cases whereas 60% of SCLC is diagnosed at stage IV. Lung cancer usually originates from the cells lining the bronchi, bronchioles and alveoli. Carcinogens especially tobacco smoke will alter the gene expression of the normal human lung cells, resulting in cell mutation. The proto oncogenes will be converted to mutated form, oncogenes. Mutation leads to the decreased expression of the tumour suppressor genes. This results in uncontrolled cell proliferation, cell ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Mask You Live In Psychology The film The Mask You Live In was written, filmed and directed by Jennifer Siebel Newsom. It was released on January 25, 2015 at the premiere of the Sundance Film Festival. Jennifer also released a similar film called Miss Representation, a film about what the expectations of a woman were according to the media. According to the film, using hyper masculinity among boys and young men through parental teachings and social expectations in the United States negatively affects them psychologically as it affects their way of decision making and become more isolated throughout their lives. I firmly agree with Newsom s message she was trying to send out to her intended audience, the parents and our society at large communicated through statistics shown as title sequences and the testimonies coming from boys and men who were once at risk. Jennifer Siebel Newsom was born on June 19, 1974 in San Francisco, CA and is the eldest of four sisters in her family. As stated by Stanford Women, Newsom graduated from Stanford University with honors obtaining a Bachelor s degree in 1996 and an MBA in 2001. According to contributor Frank Miniter s article Is Masculinity Toxic?, Jennifer Siebel Newsom is married to Gavin Newsom, a former San Francisco mayor and currently a Lieutenant Governor of California and eventually raised four children. Also, as stated in Michael Mechanic s article Be a Man. What Does That Even Mean?, she says, her inspiration for creating the film came after the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom Balancing Individual Privacy with Press Freedom Alan F. Westin, a privacy expert at Columbia University, once wrote: Privacy is the claim of individuals, groups, or institutions to determine for themselves when, how, and to what extent information about them is communicated to others (self information control right). In this age of mass media, individual privacy has become a casualty of journalists feeding frenzy and it has become really hard for societies to determine the nature and process of information in the public domain. In this article I reflect on the problem in Nepal s context. Despite being a social animal, every human being seeks seclusion and solitude within the open mirror of society. Privacy is inherent in the behavior ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The current interim constitution (article 28) stipulates that except on the circumstance as provided by the law, the privacy of the person, his or her residence, property, document, statistics, correspondence and character is inviolable Similarly, the constitution of the country also guarantees freedom of the press (article 15 interim constitution, 2063). It ensures the right to freedom of press and publication. This right was included as a specific fundamental right in previous Constitution of Nepal 2047. Freedom of the press means the right to print and publish without any interference from the state or any public authority. The liberty of the press consists freedom from prior restraints upon publication of content. Freedom of the press also means freedom of dissemination, news and views from diverse and antagonistic sources for the knowledge and welfare of the people. The Press and Publication Act (2048), a new version of the earlier Press and Publication Act (2039), also guaranteed the constitutional freedom of the press. The Gali Beizzati Ain 2016 (such as in article 3 and 8) recognizes freedom of the press. It says that every human being shall enjoy free press, without any discrimination on the ground of race, color, sex etc. There are, however, very few International Conventions which guarantee right to privacy, but there are several conventions regarding press freedom. For example, the right to privacy is enumerated in article 12 of the Universal ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. The Trafficking Of Human Trafficking Essay In this essay, the history of human trafficking will be examined, followed by who is affected by trafficking. Next the scope and types of exploitation will be discussed. Human trafficking is an issue that affects countries all over the world. Governments have made an effort to curb trafficking, however these efforts have been very narrowly focused. American ignorance has led to poor handling of the issues by policy makers. Finally the essay will discuss a proposed solution and set some goals for society to work on in the future. When examining the traditional definition of slavery, it focuses on one human being taking ownership of another. Traditionally slaves were transported by lengthy sea voyages. However, with advancements in transportation human trafficking victims can be quickly and easily moved around the world (Kara 67). According to Robert Uy, Trafficking, prostitution, and slavery have existed since the beginning of civilization and, while at times have been prohibited, have continued to exist (215). Slaves can be exploited virtually forever with a form of slavery known as bonded labor, which has existed for centuries. Individuals involved in this type of slavery are often loaned money with the agreement to work of the debt; unfortunately, the pay is so low the debt is almost never repaid (Kara 67). Despite legislative efforts to pass effective anti trafficking and anti forced labor laws, the overwhelming focus has been on preventing sex trafficking. This coupled ... • 44. Juxtaposition In Devil In The White City The Devil in the White City by Erik Larson is a nonfiction novel that sets during the building of the 1893 Chicago World s Fair, known as The World s Columbian Exposition as well. The novel describes the process of building the fair and the architect who builds it to the evil murderer who exploits the fair to lure in his victims. Erik Larson uses rhetorical strategies such as selective connotation and word choice, imagery, and juxtaposition, to contrast the white city from the black city. Contrary to the white city which was the exposition, the black city, the rest of Chicago, brought negativity and hatred to the people. In it was a blighted, hellish place full of noise and dust and smoke and inhuman towers that blocked the sun and she hated it hated especially this gloomy building and the ceaseless clamor of construction (Larson 123), the black city is described through selective connotation and word choice. Larson creating an unpleasant mood by using such negative and degrading words such as blighted, hellish, and inhuman to describe Chicago, readers can envision a hateful and dull place. By placing and in front of the negative words: blighted, hellish, and inhuman and repeating and multiple times, the list of unappealing attributes of the city is elongated. Essentially, Chicago is envisioned in a worse way than if the negative adjectives were just listed one after another without the effect that and carries, emphasizing the hatred the character held towards ... • 45. Dangers Of Water Purification Impacts of Water Purification on our society The Dangers of Drinking unpurified water Did you know that only two and half percent of the earths fresh water is okay to drink and less than one percent of that is available to humans and fresh water ecosystems and the rest is frozen away in the ice in artic and ant artic areas. One of the biggest problems today in 2017 is people having purified water. Having such a big population and our way of life is killing our earth. This way of our life is destroying our fresh water ecosystems and is making it very difficult for us to have clean drinking water. Although there are some simple solutions to this problem. Purified water has a huge impact on our society socially and economically. Twelve percent of our earth s population uses eighty five percent of its water. 1.2 billion people in our earth our do not have easy access to clean drinking water. Due to the shortage of pure water it has caused 250 million deceases, leading to 5 10 million deaths annually just because of pure water. The problem of purified water has put a lot of stress on developing countries. Developing countries can often afford a sanitation plant and the facilities to run a sanitation plant and have the water run to families in urban areas but the problem is that it is often too expensive, or they don t have everything to reach rural areas leaving a lot of poor families without pure water. In Africa the women are given the responsibility to collect water for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. The Gravitational Pull Of The Sun And Moon The constant pattern of rising and receding of the sea level is called the tide. But just what causes this?... Gravity, to be more specific the gravitational pull of the Sun and Moon. The best way to understand how the tides work is first acknowledging the relationship between the rotation of the earth with the Moon and Sun. As we know the Earth spins on an axis, the water on earth is kept at equal levels all around the planet by a combination of gravity pulling inward and centrifugal force pushing outward. Just the Moon s gravitational forces alone are strong enough to interrupt this balance by speeding pushing the water towards the Moon. This makes the water to swell. As the Moon circles Earth and as our planet rotates, the swell also moves. The areas of the Earth where the swells occur have a high tide and the other areas will have a low tide. ... South Korea s order of preference among the choices are: 1. unification under a democratic system, 2. peaceful unification 3. the status quo, 4. unification under a communist system. What can be said about these four outcomes as they apply to the Prisoner s Dilemma? First, neither North nor South Korea sees the status quo as the worst choice. Second, each side sees the opponents most desired outcome as its worst possible outcome. Third, each side prefers a peaceful unification to the status quo. And lastly, neither side prefers a peaceful unification to its own best choice. The result of this is, as in the matrix in Figure 1 the preferred choice is the dominating strategy for both North (B2 dominating B1) and South (A2 dominating A1). Specifically, North Korea prefers a communist settlement of unification to either the status quo or a peaceful unification. South Korea prefers a democratic settlement to either the status que or a peaceful unification. Thus, the dilemma that faces both sides is: since neither side can have its own best choice, they settle for the status quo. This is done in spite of the fact that the possibility of a peaceful settlement to unification is exists (a peaceful unification) that might be better for both sides than their own optimal choice. • 48. Descriptive Essay About Cars Most people hate car trips with family. I think car rides can be entertaining for a little bit but after being in the car for a long time people start to get restless and irritated easily. One time my mother and two sisters and my three friends and their mother drove down to Florida and went on a cruise to the Bahamas. It took about seventeen hours to get to Florida. There were eight people in a cramped car for hours on end. My mother and and her friend Becky got tickets for a four day cruise ship that leaves from Florida to the Bahamas for about two hundreds dollars a person. We had to drive from Indiana to Florida . We left at midnight on a cold January day so most of the car ride was spent sleeping. We left so early because we wanted to make it to the cruse on time and have some extra time to site see. I got to sit in the very back with Mike and Grace. My older sister Brittani, younger sister Lily and Caleb sat in the middle row of seats. We had packed a bunch of snacks and drinks for the trip because we didn t want to have to stop every time someone got hungry or thirsty. When everyone started waking up people started to fight over food and being close to each other, everyone was very peevish when they woke up. It was getting warmer in the cramped car, everyone was getting uncomfortable. On the way down to Florida we drove through Atlanta, Georgia, where AMC filmed the first couple episodes of the show The Walking Dead. We finally got to Florida at four in the ...
