Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women
Nelson Huang
Professor Wang
FYS
13 November 2017
The Lament of Chinese Women
China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have always
been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and Confucianism.
Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional patrilineal society and
therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social roles of men and women.
Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within the community, however, in
a negative way.
Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in
restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her
husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about
politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care of
the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks are
incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time.
In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women are
illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is the family
teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their future lives as
wives and mothers. In the book, she

The Fashion Of Fashion In The 1920 s
The fashion of the 1900 s was very different to those in following years. The fashion in the early 1900
s was very sophisticated and elegant. The women commonly wore fitted bodied dresses with petticoats
and corsets under them. They usually were ¾ length sleeves and worn with gloves that covered up the
bare arm that would have been showing. Lace and ruffles were very much in style and the details were
very important. Men had a different sort of fashion as well. The men dressed fairly formal and proper
for casual events. They usually wore 3 piece suits with suit jackets with no collar. The fashion in this
time were sophisticated, elegant, and chic. Women dressed in all different ways in the 1920 s. The
women were all about having a new fresh start after the war. They wanted to look sassy and cute as
opposed to the dull and boring styles of those leading up to it. Some new styles made a big impact on
the parents of the 20 s. Girls wanted to cut their hair, which was a very controversial statement at the
time were flappers. Being a flapper related to smoking and drinking.
Changes in skirts and dress fashion have changed and varied dramatically between the 1920s to the
present, as well as within each decade. In 1920, only a few years after World War I, skirt and dress
hemlines rose and waistlines lowered to the hip. These changes accompanied the boyish flapper
fashions that marked the 1920 s as a decade of decadence and fun. During 1926 to 1928, hemlines
were to be at their

The Importance Of Learning A Foreign Language
Out of my six year career as a teacher, I could observe that learning a foreign language by relying only
on the conventional teaching strategies will lead to little or no result. Departing from the repetitive
grammar translation method to other innovative approaches helped me attain a certain level of
motivation and interest from my students in learning ESL. Likewise, as a Fulbright FLTA, I would
adopt the same trajectory in teaching Arabic to non native speakers in order to improve the students
acquisition of the target language. One of the approaches that I currently implement in my classroom
is giving my students an immersive and interactive learning experience. It is undeniable that full
immersion in the target language can be quite problematic seeing that as soon as the learners leave the
school setting, they are once again surrounded by their native language. For this reason, I endeavor to
gain insights into the student learning attitude from off class communications with them in the hope of
bringing something new for each lesson. Should I be given the opportunity to teach Arabic at US
universities, I would persuade my students to step out of the traditional learning setting by visiting
Arabic speaking families and interacting with them, or encouraging them to get involved in events
held by Arabs living in the area. As an FLTA, I will be ready to offer students uncommon access to
target languages by hosting cooking sessions, cultural presentations, and other

White Supremacists
The removal of Confederate monuments in some cities has stirred up intense controversy because of
white supremacist protesting the removal of the statues. These white supremacist are protesting the
removal of the statues because when they think of the Confederacy they think back in history when
the whites are firmly in control. So that s how the thought of believing whites should have more power
over all other races started. Another reason why white supremacists want to keep the statutes is
because they believe that by removing the statues, you re erasing the south s history. They say the
history of the south is being erased. Memorials like the one to Lee honor the bravery of the
southerners who did battle in the Civil War, they say.

Why The British Led The Industrial Revolution
Why the British Led the Industrial Revolution What led Great Britain to become the first country to
star in the Industrial Revolution, comes down to a complex system of factors, each aspect holds a
major role in the contribution in the growth in the Industrial Revolution and of Great Britain. While
much is known about the happenings of the Industrial Revolution itself, less is acknowledged about
the events that were direct causes of the period. Histories and economist have pointed towards several
key factors, each working together like well oiled machine. First, beginning with the agriculture
revolution which would increase the production of crops as well and decreasing prices. More food
meant more trade. Trade then lead to larger desire for goods and with the need of goods arose new
technology. Technology increased the production and efficiency of all factories. With the creation of
factories, workers were required to help produce and run machines. The prospect of new work drive
people to cities and towns. The Industrial Revolution was a cycle that feed itself, with need came
technology and with technology came need and through this process arose advanced society which
Great Britain led the world forward.
For any civilization to develop, it must not only be able to feed its people but also be affordable and
keep up with rising population. Without a stable source of food and or livestock no nation could
support an industrial evolution or even standard growth. For

Evidence-Based Practice Model Analysis
Nurses agree that having a consistent process for screening for depression increases the quality of
care. Routine screening for depression and suicidal ideation is often overlooked or omitted due the
comfort level of individual providers. Early identification of depression in family members of active
duty soldiers is key in referral for additional services. The evidenced based practice (EBP) project by
Yackel, McKennan, Fox Deise (2009) was designed to develop, to implement, and evaluate a
standardized nursing procedure to improve the screening of family members for depression... (p. 139).
The setting for the project was a military family practice clinic on a U.S. Army post in Hawaii. The

First and foremost is recognizing the need for early intervention leads to better outcomes. By
developing a routine and standardized practice change of screening for depression, a larger number of
patients will receive the care needed decreasing the need for hospitalization and decreasing mortality
rates. Incorporating the nurses into the screening process to ensure compliance along with freeing up
the physician or practitioner to focus on other medical issues the patient may have presented with is an
improved efficiency measure. Assigning a team to pilot the project with the objective of identifying
any barriers to implementation allowed the process the biggest chance of success by minimizing the

Pros And Cons Of Alibaba Goes Business

1. Pros and Cons of Stock Pyramid, Dual class equity and cross ownership with empirical evidence
Stock Pyramid: The control of a firm through a chain of ownership relations. Firms with high
investment requirements and/or low profitability are more likely to be set up in pyramids.
Pros:
1. Family/Owners have access the entire stock of retained earnings of the original firm
2. To share the new firm s non diverted payoff with minority shareholders of the original firm
Cons:
1. Benefits are mainly captured by the main owners
2. Poor investor protection, enabling the family to extract benefits from the firms it controls at the

Founders are able to maintain control of the startup. As theyput their blood sweat into their startup; the
thought of losing control is frightening and this structure gives them comfort
2. Other smaller stockholders are not be able to collectively overrule the founder on company
decisions
3. Allows strong leadership to put long term interests first while seeing beyond the near term financial
situation
4. Ownership stakes in managers hands tend to improve corporate performance
Cons:
1. Might scare off potential investors or even future hires
2. Allows a small group of privileged shareholders to maintain control while others (with less voting
power) provide the majority of the capital.
3. Heavy voting control by insiders weakens the corporate structure
4. These stocks tend to under perform
E.g.: If a founder has a 10 to 1 multiple then he or she only needs a smaller percentage to maintain
control, much smaller than 50% anyways. This is why the structure is so appealing.
Cross Ownership:
Cross Ownership is a method in which a company owns stocks of the companies with which it does
business. It is used to reinforce business relationships. Heavy cross ownership is also called as circular
ownership Company A holds stock of Company B and vice versa.

Roadside Memorial Research Paper
Has anyone ever thought about how roadside memorials can cause problems? I never thought about
that until I have read The Side of the Road Is No Place for a Memorial . It is a story that talks about
when accidents happened on the streets or highways, some people will display a memorial of the
victim on the roadside. Those memorials should not be allowed due to a variety of reasons includes:
they are illegal, it will remind people the nightmares that have happened, after a spell the memorials
will became smudgy and it will be disrespectful to the victims, and most importantly, those memorials
can be the cause of the accidents ( The Side 201 203). After I have read it, I agree with the author s
ideas about displaying memorials on the roadside should be illegal, and they are potential traffic
hazards themselves, because public places should not be used as personal, and those memorials can ...

focus and pay our attention on the lane. Even though no speeding and focus on the throughway while
driving are widespread knowledge, we did not always follow them as we drive. If we are driving and
something pop up on our sight line, we will subconsciously looking at that object and get distract by

seconds. Just like what author have said, from unpredictable auto and pedestrian traffic to street

they travel from place to place ( The Side 203). Now we have another distracting thing, which are the
memorials that got displayed on the roadside, and they could became the cause of another traffic

How Is Rain Used In The Game Of Thrones
The Game of Thrones series has always had lots of symbolism and biblical references, but the red
wedding scene in the book and in the television show rank among the highest in terms of symbolism
and allusions. One of the biggest symbols in this chapter is the rain that is described in the beginning
of the chapter. The rain is not just used to describe the bleak mood in the setting, but George R.R.
Martin uses it to force all of the people at the wedding into one place, for the events that are about to
unfold during the wedding. In the television show we see the mud on the ground that the rain creates
that shows the readers how dirty the people at the wedding are. Another example that happens in this
chapter is don t stand next to the hero. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this chapter we have a lot of biblical elements coming into play. We see Harry die, and go to a
purgatory like place where he has to make a choice to keep living and fight or pass away and ride the
train to Heaven. He chooses to live and fight, this choice of him coming back to life signifies him
becoming the Christ like figure in the story. Another example that would allude to him being a Christ
like figure is that Lord Voldemort has a snake with him almost all of the time. The snake is a big
symbol of Satan, and Harry has to overcome the snake in order to become victorious. One more big
point from How to Read Literature Like a Professor in this chapter of Harry Potter is never stand next
to the hero. In the final battle scenes of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows we see almost all of our
favorite characters die. This is all because J.K. Rowling decided they needed to die in order for Harry
to progress as a character. In the final scenes we see Fred Weasley, Remus Lupin, and Tonks all die.
This forces Harry to mature as a character as realize that the magic he once used as a child is
dangerous, and that he needs to stop Lord Voldemort before more of his friends are

Laser Hair Removal Essay
Laser hair removal is a good option for people who need to regularly shave, wax or pluck some areas
of body hair in order to feel clean and look attractive. Laser hair removal is safe and effective, and
because of the latest technological advances, almost everyone can get the benefit.
Hair grows in three stages including the growth stage, the dormant stage and the falling out stage.
Laser hair removal procedure only works during the growing stage. About 20 percent of your hair is in
the actively growing stage. That is why people need to have between three to six treatments to make
sure all the hair in a specific area has been removed. You will have smooth, hair free skin for months,

The pigment in the hair absorbs the heat and causes the follicle to be destroyed. When this happens,
the follicle is no longer able to grow hair. The laser only targets the hair follicle and not the
surrounding skin. After the recommended number of treatments, you will start to see a reduction in
hair growth in the treated area. Since it is the melanin or pigment that the laser heats, it may not be
effective on white, light gray and light blond hair.
Our trained technicians will discuss several plans with you to make sure your laser hair removal is
safe and comfortable. You plan will take into consideration your skin tone, amount of suntan, hair
thickness and hair color. You may feel a slight warming of the treatment area, but the laser has a built

For at least four weeks before treatment, you shouldn t wax, use depilatories, bleach or pluck the hair
in the area you want to have treated. Shaving is all right because it doesn t affect the follicle. After the
treatment, the affected area may feel slightly sunburned. You can put cold compresses on the area and
take an over the counter anti inflammatory if required. You shouldn t expose the area to direct sunlight
for at least two weeks and use sunblock of SPF30 for four weeks. The hair will gradually fall out

Overview Of Methodologies. Effectuation . Effectual Reasoning
Overview of Methodologies
Effectuation
Effectual reasoning was researched and developed by Sara Sarasvathy, Associate Professor in the
Darden Graduate School of Business Administration at the University of Virginia. As stated by
Sarasvathy, effectual is the inverse causal (Sarasvathy, n.d.). Throughout history, business students
have been taught causal reasoning (Sarasvathy, n.d.). Causal reasoning consists of finding the best
means (cheapest, quickest, most efficient, etc.) to reach a predetermined goal (Sarasvathy, n.d.).
However, effectuation takes the opposite approach. Effectual thinking consists of collecting current
means and determining potential outcomes utilizing these means. (Sarasvathy, n.d.). One approach is
not better ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Avoid doing a competitive analysis (Sarasvathy, n.d.). Additionally, target key companies instead of
conducting broad market research. Developing pre commitments reduces uncertainty in the future
(Sarasvathy, n.d.).
3. Leveraging Contingencies Turning the unexpected into something beneficial (Sarasvathy, n.d.). Not
all surprises are always bad. Surprises can be used to help develop and grow a new venture. Rather
than trying to predict the future, focus on activities within your control ( What is effectuation? 2011).
The logic behind effectual thinking is... to the extent that we can control the future, we do not need to
predict it (Sarasvathy, n.d.).
Lean Startup
Lean startup is a scientific approach to developing a new product or business. Eric Ries created the
term, lean startup (Santoro, 2014). Ries was motivated to develop a startup approach that embraced
failure, since most new businesses and startups usually fail (Santoro, 2014). Additionally, lean startups
focus on using resources efficiently and eliminating waste (Santoro, 2014).
Principles of Lean Startup
1. Entrepreneurs are Everywhere Anyone can be an entrepreneur, whether you are working out of a

Schizophreni A Review Of Treatment And Interventions
Schizophrenia: A Review of Treatment and Interventions
Patricia McGuire
John F. Kennedy University Abstract
This paper analyzes different types of treatment and interventions currently utilized to treat
schizophrenia. A review of psychosocial models, antipsychotic interventions and social cognition
approaches are outlined.
Keywords: Schizophrenia, social cognition, antipsychotic medication, psychosis, treatment
Schizophrenia: A Review of Treatment and Interventions
The American Psychiatric Association [APA] (2013) defines schizophrenia as a debilitating psychotic
disorder that involves delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech, grossly disorganized or catatonic
behaviors and negative symptoms. Beidel, Frueh Hersen (2014) explain that schizophrenia impairs
social functioning especially in areas that relate to daily living; this includes maintaining social
relationships and intellectual functioning. Positive symptoms (e.g. hallucinations), negative symptoms
(e.g. social withdrawal), cognitive impairment (e.g. memory problems), and mood related issues (e.g.
anxiety) are most common in individuals who are diagnosed with schizophrenia (Beidel, Frueh
Herson, 2014, p.166).
Different interventions to treat schizophrenia have been explored. There is no specific treatment that
has proven to reduce symptoms definitively. Individualized treatments along with psychosocial
models have yielded positive results in the reduction of psychosis. The use of

Examples Of Personification In The Pardoners Tale
In The Pardoners Tale, the three rioters come together to kill Death, but in doing so they come upon
some things that they can t go back and change. An analysis of The Pardoners Tale, shows how
personification and irony are not so funny when Death is involved. Death is personified throughout
The Pardoners Tale. Personification occurs when an author gives living characteristics to something
that isn t living. The first example occurs when the three rioters are drinking and they hear a funeral.
The tavern boy tells the men about their friend s death. , sir no need i promise you, two hours before
you came here i was told. He was a friend of yours in days of old, and suddenly last night, the man

Little did he know that the other two rioters were planning to kill him. There are three types of irony
told in The Pardoners Tale. Another form of irony is situational irony. Situational irony is when a
reader expects one thing then something else occurs. Situational irony occurs in The Pardoners Tale
when the three rioters are in the bar, Let s each hold up a hand to one another, each of us will become
the others brother. ( Chaucer LL (696 697)) but by the time the three rioters find the gold under the
tree they all plot to kill each other in order to have more money to themselves. The final example of
irony told in The Pardoners Tale, is dramatic irony. Dramatic irony is when an audience knows
something that the characters are not aware of. Dramatic irony is found in The Pardoners Tale, when
the youngest rioter arrives with the poisoned wine planning to kill the other two rioters, but the other
two rioters had plotted against the youngest trampling him and killing him. Once the youngest rioter is

be less likely for it to crash etc. All this doesn t come free of charge; you have to pay a fee which
varies in price depending on what service you are willing to receive.
Domain structure The domain structure is what makes the websites URL. This all depends on where
you are from though. The domain structure makes it easier for us to find the websites that we want
because instead of writing in the websites IP address which is awkward to do because its several
different numbers that is hard to remember, also it takes much longer than just typing in the URL
address. The first part of the domain structure is www. This is at the start of all web addresses that is
on the World Wide Web. The last part .com, .co.uk, .org can either show you what country the website
is from or what type of website it is. For example, .org means that the website belongs to an

Eosinophilic Esophagitis Research Paper
Eosinophilic esophagitis
Eosinophilic esophagitis (EoE) is a chronic, immune mediated condition (T helper cell 2 allergen
mediated process) and an increasingly recognized clinical pathologic entity. Current criteria include:
symptoms of esophageal dysfunction, minimum 15 eosinophils in at least one high power microscopy
field on biopsy and exclusion of other potential causes as the most important differential diagnosis is
GERD [13]. Symptoms can be non specific. In infancy, the major complaints include food intolerance
and failure to thrive. Abdominal pain, food impaction, nausea and emesis can be found in adolescents
[13]. The suggestive signs of EoE on endoscopy (esophageal rings, strictures or narrow caliber; linear

Associated morbidities of SIBO are anemia, malabsorption, and malnutrition [14].
Diagnosis can be made with the hydrogen glucose breath test. However, a methane measurement
improves the sensitivity of the hydrogen breath test and decreases false positive results. Hydrogen
production originates from non digestable lactose. In patients with CF, the colonic flora frequently
does not produce hydrogen, whereas the methane production is higher [19].
Treatment (Table 3) includes antibiotics, especially orally, with improvement of fat digestion and
absorption [15]. Other treatment options are pre and probiotics. Prebiotics are selectively fermented
ingredients that promote specific changes in the composition and activity in the gastrointestinal
microflora that will benefit the flora. They are not metabolized by pathogenic bacterial strains and
induce a proliferation of the beneficial microbionts [20]. Probiotics are live bacteria that provide a
positive effect on the inflammatory response of the gastrointestinal tract by improving the endothelial
intestinal barrier, diminishing the bacterial adhesion, lowering the pH intraluminal and enhancing the
production of nitrogen oxide [19, 20]. De Lisle et al. also showed a positive effect of laxativa and N
acetylcysteine. Mucus accumulation was reduced by 43% and 50% respectively with a

How Did American Race Relations Affect The Civil Rights...
The Civil Rights Movement grew momentum during the 1960s. As America became an Affluent
Society , the nation became more responsible for projecting a positive image of freedom an abstract
idea that failed to be a reality to all. WWII disrupted the social construct and implications that come
with race because blacks felt that they were entitled to the same rights as their fellow whites.
Nonetheless, people of color, particularly African Americans, continued to face the injustices and
inequalities they ve been burdened with since the beginning of time. Segregation was not only
enforced by laws in the South, but also by custom in the North and West (1019). Signs of Jim Crow
proliferated, an example being in the field of education. Blacks did not have access to an equal
education as whites. When Linda Brown was denied admittance to a school for all whites by the
Topeka Board of Education, it was clear that blacks and whites did not ... Show more content on

According to Foner, the State Department filed a brief in the Brown case noting the damage
segregation was doing to the country s image overseas (1027). American race relations ultimately
reflected the validity of the nation s ideology. If America continued to have poor race relations and
segregation, the principles on which the nation was founded upon would be questionable. An
American ambassador in India was asked Was it true that the Haitian ambassador to the United States
had to live in a black ghetto in Washington? Why did no black person hold a high public office?
(1027). This exemplifies the outsider perspective on interrelations in America; the color line and racial
divide in American society formed a parallel to the degradation of non white peoples overseas.

My Internship With The Neurology Department
The 8th floor of the hospital was unlike any other department I had ever worked at. It was not always
busy and loud like the ER, or cheerful like pediatric. The 8th floor always felt gloomy with its dimly
lit hallways and beige colored walls. I met Mr. Peter on the first day of my internship with the
neurology department. As an intern, I was in charge of feeding patients breakfast and lunch among
other responsibilities. Unlike other patients who were not able to chew or swallow their meal properly,
Mr. Peter always finished his food with a good appetite. He used to request two orders of pancakes,
one to eat during breakfast and the other for midafternoon. Despite being blind, Mr. Peter constantly
shared colorful stories of his travels from around the world. My interest in medicine initially began
with a love for science. I was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Biology with a Chemistry minor, and
I knew that I wanted to be a physician; one who not only understood the science behind medicine, but
who also knew how to connect with patients on a deeper level. As the internship at New York
Methodist progressed, I met patients who were once healthy, but were suddenly restricted to their bed,
such as the 35 year old English professor who could no longer control her bladder or bowel
movements, or the 48 year old nurse who lost her ability to chew or swallow food. Mr. Peter was
unlike these patients because he was stronger in the sense that he didn t need his food to be ground

Environment Studies
CHAPTER NO: 01 1. Define the importance of Environmental Studies. Answer: Environment is
derived from the French word Environ which means to encircle or surround. ENVIRONMENT is sum
total of water, air, and land, inter relationships among themselves and also with the human beings,
other living organisms and property. The above definition given in Environment Act, 1986 clearly
indicates that environment includes all the physical and biological surroundings and their interactions.

Hitler s Actions During Ww2
In the final months of World War II Allied Forces, commanded by United States General Dwight D.
Eisenhower, were on the offensive and had pushed deep into German territory. The Germans had
suffered significant losses of troops and equipment after five years of warfare. Any chance of winning
meant the Germans would have to make a stand. Hitler discussed his strategy with his top generals.
While they agreed that capturing the city of Antwerp, a major Allied supply hub, would inflict a
devastating blow to the Allied Forces, they disagreed with Hitler s plan of assaulting through the
heavily wooded area of the Ardennes. Furthermore, the plan was to attack under the protection of poor
weather to mitigate the use of Allied airpower, which was a major Allied advantage. Hitler believed
that a complex assault would catch Allied commanders off guard causing them to be slow to react. The
Allied lines were spread very thin in the Ardennes, even to the point of an average of 73 men per mile.
Moreover, this specific area was used for training new units and for allowing battle tested,

What surprised me most about this documentary was that as a child I had just assumed that the
sporadic and fantastical adventures of Indiana Jones were fiction in their entirety. I never would have
been able to guess that many parts of his adventures mirrored the lives of real life archeologists. What
was most interesting about learning about the way Indiana Jones and modern day archeologists share
some of the same adventures was the way they spoke about it so practically. The endless insects, the
illnesses, the natives and rivalries, it was all like hearing this grand adventure become real life. It was
fascinating having this idea of archeology being a somewhat mild and monotonous career flipped

Film Review Of The Film Slumdog Millionaire
Film review Tittle of the film is Slumdog Millionaire . The director of this heart breaking film is
Danny Boyle. The film was released in 2008 and it lasts for about 2 hours. This movie is based on the
book Q and A by Vikas Swarup. (Wikipedia) The film itself portrays a powerful sense of prejudice. It
shows the vast divide between people with money and power, as opposed to those who are poor and
have nothing. This movie challenges the stereotype that poor people cannot be smart through retelling
the life of an Indian boy. Summary This is a heartbreakingly sad but also a truthful movie. We get to
see what conditions many people must live in. The storyline is about an Indian boy Jamal Malik who
joined the TV show who wants to be a millionaire . The entire film is based on flashbacks that Jamal is
at the local police station. After the first part of the show, he was sent there for interrogation, as the
show host thought he might have cheated. However, no matter how long and brutal the interrogation
was, he remained calm and insisted that he knew all the answers. After the chief of police replayed the
entire episode of the TV show, Jamal was able to document every single answer based on the events
that took place during his life. During the movie we are introduced to two other characters, Salim and
Latika. Since they were kids, they portrayed themselves as the three musketeers. Starting the life in the
slums their paths have been crossed many times under different circumstances. Surprisingly, each
question asked during the show is somehow tied to certain events that has taken place during Jamal s
life. He goes on about telling all the fragments from his life to prove the fact that he knew the answers.
In the end, the police officer shows him mercy and compassion, by believing in him and delivering
him back to the TV show with an escort to make sure justice is upheld. Danny Boyle is an English
director and film producer. Boyle started his career directing television series, including criminal serial
Inspector Morse. Their international breakthrough he received with the film Trainspotting.

Rhetorical Analysis Of Fears In Never Cry Wolf
Fears are the stories we tell ourselves Anonymous. In the book Never Cry Wolf (1963) the author
Farley Mowat uses many rhetorical strategies to illustrate to the reader that wolves are not bloodthirsty
beasts, but rather friendly, logical, and emotional animals that we have no reason to fear. People have
an instinctual adversity to predatory animals such as wolves and even though fear is a natural reaction
we should try to suppress it, and see wolves for what they really are. The people that the author met in
the Canadian north based their fears of wolves solely on stories passed down through generations. Of
all his strategies Mowat s most effective persuasive appeals were logos, personification, and tone.
Throughout the book Mowat uses logos to try and convince us of the wolves innocence in the
supposed vicious, blood thirsty killing of the caribou. Because he did not have the resources to
conduct a study on the nutrition of mice and and wolves ability to survive off of them, he conducted
an experiment on himself. He eats mice for his first period and and canned meat and fish for his
second. At the end of each tests himself and finds that his metabolic functions remained unimpaired
under a mouse regimen (113) which indicated that wolves could too. Mowat also witnessed wolves
picking sick and weak caribou and deer from a heard first hand. He followed a wolf pack across the
arctic tundra and saw them pass up many healthy looking herds and bucks without as much as a

competitiveness (Johnson amp; Johnson, 2003). To foster a positive interdependence relationship, I
will adopt a pleasant manner and present a fair, cooperative and understanding nature.
The tactics that will be employed during the negotiation will be integrative in nature and with a weak
BATNA there is little incentive for Excalibur to act aggressively, only strategically. Logrolling
involves trading off issues to reach a solution. With multiple issues at hand logrolling will be most
effective when both parties are honest, however considering all my interests I will be open as to which
issues are most important to me (eg. price)but will hide specific details (my BATNA). I will also
attempt to create positive interdependence between Knight and Excalibur by expanding the pie and
offering non specific compensation. Currently, the negotiation pie is limited to the pistons and
Excalibur will need to offer more resources to make a business relationship desirable for Knight. To
expand the pie I will be offering free marketing on Excalibur s website, exclusive rights to pistons and

Verification Of Motion Lab
Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion
Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the
acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to
its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to
measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains
constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship:
Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the
weights it holds. Thus the goal is to record data that follows this equation; as more masses are added
to the hook, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A smart pulley is clamped onto the side of the table and connected to a computer to sync with
Capstone. In Capstone, select the device as Photogate with Pulley. Set up a position vs time graph to
record data for. Attach a string to the cart, over the smart pulley, and latch it onto a 5g hook to the side
of the table. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place,
keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart
pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart
before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge.
Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight
and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the
remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move
quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. Make
sure to remove unwanted data, such as the initial motionless state of the cart and the adrupt halt of its
motion. The acceleration of the system is two times the value of the A constant in the curve fit; record
this and do this for all trials.

The Fundamental Principles Of A Republic
In June of 1915, the United States is fighting World War One in Europe, while women, including Anna
Howard Shaw, continue to fight for suffrage rights at home. As the war rages on, women commit to
their suffrage movements by giving speeches and marching in parades. On June 21, Shaw
persuasively speaks to the people of New York at an equal suffrage campaign as they prepare to vote
on a law concerning women s suffrage rights. She intends to give evidence to her listeners and
persuade them to support the women of New York and eventually all of the women in America, to
vote. Shaw uses The Fundamental Principles of a Republic to prove the true purpose of the women s
suffrage movement, expose the illogical arguments of her opposition, and to convince all of her
listeners (the male voters of New York) to vote for women s right to vote through logical and rational
arguments. In Shaw s speech, she questions America s identity as a true republic because of the
inability to escape the past conceptions of woman s place in society, and she uses logic to argue the
necessity of moving forward to create equality for all types of people, regardless of gender or race.
She claims that all people should be equal in a republic. Therefore, America is only partially a republic
because women are not given the same rights as men nor the right to vote. Although she belittles the
character of the founding fathers who succumbed to the same sort of prejudices that had driven them

The European Recovery Program Of The United States Essay
Left as one of the only remaining major powers, not significantly devastated by World War II, the
United States of America lit the beacon of humanitarian aid. At its own discretion, after the Soviet
Union s refusal of America s extent of influence and relief in the European continent, the U.S. was
free to do as it pleased regarding attempts of foreign assistance. Secretary of State in the U.S. at the
time, George Marshall, proposed the Marshall Plan , originally called the European Recovery Program
, in June of 1947, during his speech at Harvard University. Marshall s argument was to provide 13
billion U.S. dollars, about 5% of the American gross domestic product during that period, to European
nations to bail them out of their continental crisis post World War II. The plan was in operation for
four years, rebuilding war terrorized countries with several goals put in place by the United States.
America would take on the responsibility to rebuild their economies, rebuild their currency, and foster
a free and open trade between European and U.S. economies. Aid provided by major powers usually
involves some level of self interest, benefiting the donors as well as the needs of those in less fortunate
situations. The Marshall Plan was set in motion with the idea that, if successful, the U.S. would
become better off in the long term, creating new markets for American goods and flourishing the
economy back home. Funds used within the European continent required agreement and

Eassy On Apartheid
The great Nelson Mandela once said When a man is denied the right to live the life he believes in, he
has no choice but to become an outlaw. (Long Walk to Freedom, 1995) Apartheid means separation.
Apartheid destroy lives and apartheid separate blacks and coloured from the rest of the world. P.W.
Botha stated in the mid 1980 s Simple justice suggests that you must allow a black man with his
family to live a healthy, decent life and you must provide work, where possible, for him, and not allow
him to squat on your doorstep... and then, in the name of Christianity, say now that you ve done your
duty towards him? I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions
were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced
intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid
institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as
inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the
intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority.
Authorised by P.W. Botha, apartheid took control and manipulated the South African political system
in favour of the white minority, illustrating the 40 years of Apartheid where majority of the coloured
population had feared and suffered through the 148 harsh Apartheid policies and legislations. One of

their own field of graves, which is referred to as a burial ground. They were really overjoyed over

brief. In 1771, fourteen year old Denmark Vesey was brought from St. Thomas to Cape Francais by
slave trader Captain Joseph Vesey. Based on a revisited trip to Cape Francais, Captain Vesey was

Although devastated by the destruction of their church, black Charlestonians continued to honor Vesey
s revolutionary Old Testament theology in secret. For abolitionists such as David Walker, Frederick

writings. White Charleston responded by increasing efforts to convert slaves to New Testament
Christianity, and by passing legislation to further restrict the rights of slaves. This increasingly militant
path eventually led to the Civil

Carboniferous Research Paper
The carboniferous period lasted from about 359.2 to 299 million years ago, during the Paleozoic era.
The name carboniferous came from the large amounts of carbon bearing coal that was formed during
the period. Several major biological, geological, and climatic events occurred at this time. The
amniote egg allowed further exploitation for certain tetrapods. It enabled ancestors of birds, mammals,
and reptiles to lay their eggs on land without fear of being dehydrated. The carboniferous period was
divided into two major subdivisions, the Mississippian and the Pennsylvanian. The Mississippian was
the early half and the Pennsylvanian being the last half. Climatically there was a trend towards mild
temperatures The beginning of the carboniferous generall had more tropical and humid climates than
exists today. The plant fossils form the carboniferous period resemble that they lived in tropical and
mildly temperature areas today. This climate may have been a result of the large expanse of ocean that
covered the surface of the globe, except a localized section. The early part of the period was warm but

  • 2. Lessons For Women By Zhao B The Lament Of Chinese Women Nelson Huang Professor Wang FYS 13 November 2017 The Lament of Chinese Women China, as one of the four ancient civilizations, has a long history and thus people there have always been emerging in a full complex set of ethical codes under the influence of Taoism and Confucianism. Like many people from other civilizations, Chinese people share a traditional patrilineal society and therefore creates a whole set of gendered stereotypes to classify the social roles of men and women. Till now, those understandings still somehow affect how people act within the community, however, in a negative way. Many women are trapped in those outdated comprehensions of gender roles and thus living in restrained lives. In the past day, women are always instructed to be a gentle wife who serves her husband intimately and sexually, a conservative family member who don t listen or talking about politics or any kinds of men s activities, and the most important things, a mother who can take care of the children in her husband s family and raised them to their work age. These harsh social tasks are incredibly essential for women to follow in the old time. In the book Lessons for Women by Zhao Ban, a series of intelligible moral identities for women are illustrated as well as a stringent list of pros and cons for daily life are exhibited. The book is the family teaching that Zhao, as a mother, writes to her daughters to have them success in their future lives as wives and mothers. In the book, she ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Fashion Of Fashion In The 1920 s The fashion of the 1900 s was very different to those in following years. The fashion in the early 1900 s was very sophisticated and elegant. The women commonly wore fitted bodied dresses with petticoats and corsets under them. They usually were ¾ length sleeves and worn with gloves that covered up the bare arm that would have been showing. Lace and ruffles were very much in style and the details were very important. Men had a different sort of fashion as well. The men dressed fairly formal and proper for casual events. They usually wore 3 piece suits with suit jackets with no collar. The fashion in this time were sophisticated, elegant, and chic. Women dressed in all different ways in the 1920 s. The women were all about having a new fresh start after the war. They wanted to look sassy and cute as opposed to the dull and boring styles of those leading up to it. Some new styles made a big impact on the parents of the 20 s. Girls wanted to cut their hair, which was a very controversial statement at the time were flappers. Being a flapper related to smoking and drinking. Changes in skirts and dress fashion have changed and varied dramatically between the 1920s to the present, as well as within each decade. In 1920, only a few years after World War I, skirt and dress hemlines rose and waistlines lowered to the hip. These changes accompanied the boyish flapper fashions that marked the 1920 s as a decade of decadence and fun. During 1926 to 1928, hemlines were to be at their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Learning A Foreign Language Out of my six year career as a teacher, I could observe that learning a foreign language by relying only on the conventional teaching strategies will lead to little or no result. Departing from the repetitive grammar translation method to other innovative approaches helped me attain a certain level of motivation and interest from my students in learning ESL. Likewise, as a Fulbright FLTA, I would adopt the same trajectory in teaching Arabic to non native speakers in order to improve the students acquisition of the target language. One of the approaches that I currently implement in my classroom is giving my students an immersive and interactive learning experience. It is undeniable that full immersion in the target language can be quite problematic seeing that as soon as the learners leave the school setting, they are once again surrounded by their native language. For this reason, I endeavor to gain insights into the student learning attitude from off class communications with them in the hope of bringing something new for each lesson. Should I be given the opportunity to teach Arabic at US universities, I would persuade my students to step out of the traditional learning setting by visiting Arabic speaking families and interacting with them, or encouraging them to get involved in events held by Arabs living in the area. As an FLTA, I will be ready to offer students uncommon access to target languages by hosting cooking sessions, cultural presentations, and other ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These white supremacist are protesting the removal of the statues because when they think of the Confederacy they think back in history when the whites are firmly in control. So that s how the thought of believing whites should have more power over all other races started. Another reason why white supremacists want to keep the statutes is because they believe that by removing the statues, you re erasing the south s history. They say the history of the south is being erased. Memorials like the one to Lee honor the bravery of the southerners who did battle in the Civil War, they say. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Why The British Led The Industrial Revolution Why the British Led the Industrial Revolution What led Great Britain to become the first country to star in the Industrial Revolution, comes down to a complex system of factors, each aspect holds a major role in the contribution in the growth in the Industrial Revolution and of Great Britain. While much is known about the happenings of the Industrial Revolution itself, less is acknowledged about the events that were direct causes of the period. Histories and economist have pointed towards several key factors, each working together like well oiled machine. First, beginning with the agriculture revolution which would increase the production of crops as well and decreasing prices. More food meant more trade. Trade then lead to larger desire for goods and with the need of goods arose new technology. Technology increased the production and efficiency of all factories. With the creation of factories, workers were required to help produce and run machines. The prospect of new work drive people to cities and towns. The Industrial Revolution was a cycle that feed itself, with need came technology and with technology came need and through this process arose advanced society which Great Britain led the world forward. For any civilization to develop, it must not only be able to feed its people but also be affordable and keep up with rising population. Without a stable source of food and or livestock no nation could support an industrial evolution or even standard growth. For ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Indiana Jones Summary What surprised me most about this documentary was that as a child I had just assumed that the sporadic and fantastical adventures of Indiana Jones were fiction in their entirety. I never would have been able to guess that many parts of his adventures mirrored the lives of real life archeologists. What was most interesting about learning about the way Indiana Jones and modern day archeologists share some of the same adventures was the way they spoke about it so practically. The endless insects, the illnesses, the natives and rivalries, it was all like hearing this grand adventure become real life. It was fascinating having this idea of archeology being a somewhat mild and monotonous career flipped around to realize that archeology is really ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The film was released in 2008 and it lasts for about 2 hours. This movie is based on the book Q and A by Vikas Swarup. (Wikipedia) The film itself portrays a powerful sense of prejudice. It shows the vast divide between people with money and power, as opposed to those who are poor and have nothing. This movie challenges the stereotype that poor people cannot be smart through retelling the life of an Indian boy. Summary This is a heartbreakingly sad but also a truthful movie. We get to see what conditions many people must live in. The storyline is about an Indian boy Jamal Malik who joined the TV show who wants to be a millionaire . The entire film is based on flashbacks that Jamal is at the local police station. After the first part of the show, he was sent there for interrogation, as the show host thought he might have cheated. However, no matter how long and brutal the interrogation was, he remained calm and insisted that he knew all the answers. After the chief of police replayed the entire episode of the TV show, Jamal was able to document every single answer based on the events that took place during his life. During the movie we are introduced to two other characters, Salim and Latika. Since they were kids, they portrayed themselves as the three musketeers. Starting the life in the slums their paths have been crossed many times under different circumstances. Surprisingly, each question asked during the show is somehow tied to certain events that has taken place during Jamal s life. He goes on about telling all the fragments from his life to prove the fact that he knew the answers. In the end, the police officer shows him mercy and compassion, by believing in him and delivering him back to the TV show with an escort to make sure justice is upheld. • 31. Rhetorical Analysis Of Fears In Never Cry Wolf Fears are the stories we tell ourselves Anonymous. In the book Never Cry Wolf (1963) the author Farley Mowat uses many rhetorical strategies to illustrate to the reader that wolves are not bloodthirsty beasts, but rather friendly, logical, and emotional animals that we have no reason to fear. People have an instinctual adversity to predatory animals such as wolves and even though fear is a natural reaction we should try to suppress it, and see wolves for what they really are. The people that the author met in the Canadian north based their fears of wolves solely on stories passed down through generations. Of all his strategies Mowat s most effective persuasive appeals were logos, personification, and tone. Throughout the book Mowat uses logos to try and convince us of the wolves innocence in the supposed vicious, blood thirsty killing of the caribou. Because he did not have the resources to conduct a study on the nutrition of mice and and wolves ability to survive off of them, he conducted an experiment on himself. He eats mice for his first period and and canned meat and fish for his second. At the end of each tests himself and finds that his metabolic functions remained unimpaired under a mouse regimen (113) which indicated that wolves could too. Mowat also witnessed wolves picking sick and weak caribou and deer from a heard first hand. • 36. Verification Of Motion Lab Verification of Newton s 2nd Law of Motion Introduction The objective of this lab was to test Newton s 2nd law of motion, which states that the acceleration of an object is proportional to the sum of forces acting on it and inversely proportional to its mass. This was done by connecting a cart to a hook with a string and using a smart pulley to measure the acceleration of varying masses on the hook as it falls down. System mass remains constant. A free body diagram and applying Newton s 2nd Law yields the following relationship: Where mass 1 is the mass of the cart and the weights it contains, while mass 2 is the hook and the weights it holds. Obtain four weights: two 20g, one 50g, and one 100g. While keeping the cart in place, keep one 20g weight on the hook and the remainder in the cart. Start recording data from the smart pulley and release the cart so that it will slowly slide towards the edge of the table. Grab the cart before it hits the pulley and stop recording data. Reset the cart s position to 50 cm away from the edge. Repeat this process for the following masses on the hook: 40g (two 20g weights), 70g (one 20g weight and a 50g weight), 100g (just the 100g weight), and 170g (one 20g, 50g, and 100g). Keep the remainder weights on the cart. Be careful with the cart at higher masses on the hook, as it will move quickly. Once the trials are completed, create quadratic fits for the recorded data on Capstone. The Fundamental Principles Of A Republic In June of 1915, the United States is fighting World War One in Europe, while women, including Anna Howard Shaw, continue to fight for suffrage rights at home. As the war rages on, women commit to their suffrage movements by giving speeches and marching in parades. On June 21, Shaw persuasively speaks to the people of New York at an equal suffrage campaign as they prepare to vote on a law concerning women s suffrage rights. She intends to give evidence to her listeners and persuade them to support the women of New York and eventually all of the women in America, to vote. Shaw uses The Fundamental Principles of a Republic to prove the true purpose of the women s suffrage movement, expose the illogical arguments of her opposition, and to convince all of her listeners (the male voters of New York) to vote for women s right to vote through logical and rational arguments. In Shaw s speech, she questions America s identity as a true republic because of the inability to escape the past conceptions of woman s place in society, and she uses logic to argue the necessity of moving forward to create equality for all types of people, regardless of gender or race. She claims that all people should be equal in a republic. Therefore, America is only partially a republic because women are not given the same rights as men nor the right to vote. The European Recovery Program Of The United States Essay Left as one of the only remaining major powers, not significantly devastated by World War II, the United States of America lit the beacon of humanitarian aid. At its own discretion, after the Soviet Union s refusal of America s extent of influence and relief in the European continent, the U.S. was free to do as it pleased regarding attempts of foreign assistance. Secretary of State in the U.S. at the time, George Marshall, proposed the Marshall Plan , originally called the European Recovery Program , in June of 1947, during his speech at Harvard University. Marshall s argument was to provide 13 billion U.S. dollars, about 5% of the American gross domestic product during that period, to European nations to bail them out of their continental crisis post World War II. The plan was in operation for four years, rebuilding war terrorized countries with several goals put in place by the United States. America would take on the responsibility to rebuild their economies, rebuild their currency, and foster a free and open trade between European and U.S. economies. Aid provided by major powers usually involves some level of self interest, benefiting the donors as well as the needs of those in less fortunate situations. I strongly disagree with this foolish statement stated by P.W. Botha as he actions were outrageously misguided towards the coloured South Africans, as his alienating and prejudiced intentions extended segregation under apartheid institution. It can be hypothesised that the Apartheid institutional racism of South Africa between 1948 to 1994 was designed to neglect coloured society as inferior that resulted in political corruption, social discrimination and economic distress as for the intentions of achieving great benefits for the white minority.
