The Balance Of Power Theory
Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and stability
by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some critics
contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it developed out
of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is incorrect. Although a
specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance, an appraisal of the concepts
within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper discusses balance of power theory
by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational variants, and asserts that the concept
remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The balance of power is a historical concept with a
variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries
balancing in response to growing Athenian power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200
years later, Hobbes described balancing in reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to
overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996). Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing
aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this
behavior by states as a doctrine of counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states
and to prevent a state from accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). During the 19th

America On Overcoming Inertia
We ve all done it, probably more than once. Whether it is coast to coast or down the street, Americans
move and move a lot. According to the US Census Bureau, the average American changes houses
once every five years. Given our nomadic tendencies, you d think we d have a system for minimizing
headaches and maximizing efficiencies. Yet anyone who has moved is almost certain to have multiple
horror stories we hear about them all the time. And we ve certainly experienced our fair share of
nightmares between the two of us, we have moved 26 times! While we can t promise that it will ever
be easy, we have learned that with a bit of pre planning and some creative thinking, most of the
biggest pitfalls can be avoided.

The impending day is likely to produce a fair amount of anxiety. You know you should be getting
organized, but it can be a daunting, even overwhelming prospect, so many people procrastinate until
the last possible minute. Knowing where to start is truly half the battle. We ve got two simple tasks
that you can do right away that will help you overcome procrastination and organizational inertia. The
first is: create a master calendar to plot out the major events. Keep it in one central place and use it to
write down everything from cable appointments to house closings. It s much easier to stay on top of
all the details if you also can see the big picture. The second is: have each family member over the age

Science Of Greed
For this TED talk discuss I watched the first video which was called the Science of Greed by Paul K.
Piff. The central argument for this talk was revolved around the behavior of how people of wealth, the
people with power, or the people who thing they are better see themselves in conjunction with the rest
of the world. Although some of the points that were touched upon during the course of the video were
things that I have more or less known of still somehow managed to hit me and completely shock me.
For example, during the talk Paul K. Piff spoke of a research project that researchers and he had done
and the research involved a game of Monopoly however the game was fixed with one player having a
greater advantage over the other. The results of the study were that the players who had the ... Show

The elephant being that in our society we have become accustom to the presence of greed because
there is really no way to combat it. Within our country a top percentage of the population has a
majority of wealth and power and reserve it for themselves while everyone below them have to
squalor for some sort of change towards the pursuit of a better life. However it is just those at the top
who are the greediest people, it is everyone in fact because in our daily lives we in some shape or form
do thing and make decisions that have a greater effect on us rather than someone. A majority of the
time people put themselves and other second, it is almost a second nature to mankind. People have
always been in the presence of greed throughout their lives because it almost gives a purpose, meaning
that it ignites a fire within us that is fueled by the constant want for materialistic items as a way to
show we have power or are successful. Thus overall the greedier we are the more materials we will

The Starrry Night And Musee Des Beaux Arts By Anna Sexton
In my compare and contrast essay, I am going to be comparing two poems. The two poems that I will
be comparing are Musee des Beaux Arts by W.H. Auden and The Starry Night by Anna Sexton. I will
be comparing and contrasting their different plots and the meaning behind each of the poems.
The first poem, Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden is about a fictional being falling from the sky
and the people around not noticing it, but just going about their daily lives. The meaning behind it is
that something really bad can happen, but no one would notice it because they are too busy to see
what is happening or just to blind to notice it. The plot of the poem is that people cannot turn an eye to
someone else who is suffering or dying because they are too caught up in their lives or their own
drama to care about other people s feelings, or what is going on with them. Foreshadowing is to show
or indicate beforehand. This poem was indicating that the person falling into the ocean in the painting
about the poem was a Greek mythical character and the fall was foreshadowing the ending of his faith
or his life. Maybe he committed some kind of offense and he s being punished for it, and his
punishment was to fall from the sky. In Musee des Beaux, Auden states, How, when the aged are
reverently, passionately waiting, For the miraculous birth, there always must be (Auden), meaning that
they were consciously and unconsciously waiting for his doomed faith, which was falling from the sky

Nihilism According To Nietzsche
The nihilism analysis has been prevalent position over the past few years. Its anticipated purpose is to
demand questions about the norms made in a philosophical debate. These contain the notion that one
must actually suggest and preserve an idea in order to contextualize one s idea.
Tacitly, this philosophy, nihilism, seems new to most people and to philosophy as a whole. Especially
from a Western standpoint. But Nietzsche conducts an unapologetic attack on what society has
deemed as conformist morality. And at the end of the 19th Century (when he died) this could have
struck many as more progressive rather than conservative. Many during that time, however, saw it as
pure sacrilege. The entrenched on both sides have made it difficult ... Show more content on

As a communications major, the focus should not be on the words themselves, but rather on the more
in depth meaning of those words. Zarathustra says the coined phrase and follows up with, We have
killed Him. In laymen s terms, the scientific certainty has made God archaic and outdated. But really,
there is an underlayment here. The underlying idea that it is not just God (this supernatural icon in the
sky) that is dead, but rather the idea that many of the absolutes that we discussed previously have died.
One specifically being morality. These outmoded morals cannot direct the humans in a more intricate
world/society. There are many discussions that have been had about this phrase and what it could
mean, but the most significant is that the value itself is prospectively weak. Humans have transformed
into this complicated being, and constrained by this badness of morals. There is one woman who
would argue in a Newsweek article that Nietzsche through objective morality. Karen Armstrong of
Newsweek states in the article History of God that ...Nietzsche was right to say that human beings
killed God. Even fundamentalists (whose faith is essentially modern and innovative) bear to the fact
that men and women can no longer be religious in the same way as their ancestors. In the postmodern
world, it was generally understood that while reason was indispensable for mathematics, science, or
politics. It could, not by itself give human beings access to the divine. But the extraordinary success of
scientific rationalism in the modern world has made reason the only path to truth. We assume that God
is an objective fact, like the atom, whose existence can be proved empirically. When we find the
demonstration unconvincing, we lose faith. Our neglect of the esthetic of prayer, liturgy, and
mythology has indeed killed our sense of the divine. 1 Nietzsche labels this as a bit of

The Character of Iago in Shakespeare s Othello Essay
The Character of Iago
The old cliché One bad apple ruins the bunch is what enters one s mind when discussing the
villainous, deceitful, protagonist Iago in Shakespeare s tragedy Othello. It is amazing how one person
alone can completely destroy, or deteriorate a group of good natured, trusting, loyal peoples lives in a
matter of days three to be exact. What is the motive behind Iago s heinous, selfish acts, one may ask?
A rather obvious theme in the Shakespeare s tragedy, Othello , is that of the many facets of jealousy,
which instigate the evil doings of protagonist, Iago. Jealousy can be best defined, in the thinking of
Renaissance, as a derivative or compounded passion. It is a species of envy, which is in turn ... Show

Iago s motive behind his evil plot against Othello all starts when Othello chooses Cassio as his
Lieutenant, which leaves Iago feeling as if someone stole his glory. Even further, Iago s jealousy is
deepened by Othello s accomplishments and role he holds within his state. We are told that he
[Othello] is of noble birth, that war and adventures have been his nurses, that he may be considered a
[Moorish] barbarian and yet that the Venetian state has found him so valuable in action, that he cannot
be expelled no matter what offense may be found in him (Jorgensen 25). This alone makes Iago
surpass any sort of admiration of Othello, for it only feeds his jealousy and envy. Iago is infuriated and
retaliates by making Othello question the degree of his wife s faithfulness. At last Othello is moved.
Iago sees that is poisonous words are beginning to have an effect and knows better than to enlarge up
the ideas that are already planted in Othello s mind his own imagination will accomplish more...
(Charney 213). The deceit has set in.
Cassio and Iago s relationship, much like all of Iago s relationships, is based on an evil web of even
more lies and jealous acts. Cassio is a true gentleman, and his way of life is a contrast and an irritation
to Iago (Leone 73). Iago proclaims, He hath a daily beauty in his life that makes me ugly. Iago plots to

2A, DHSM LV7 TO KAYLENE TRIBE DUE DATE 12/12/14 I would like to start by defining the
leadership, which I believe is a quality or discipline that a leader should possess in order to guide
people or organisation towards goal setting, maximise their efforts and achieve the proposed goals. A
leader is an ideal mentor or pioneer who leads by examples. Leader encourages, promotes and
strengthens the qualities of the followers, so that they can perform with their maximum potential. .
Successful leaders have the ability to set and accomplish testing objectives, to make quick and
definitive move even in difficult circumstances, to outflank their competitions, to go out on a limb and
to persist despite failures. Clinical leadership (Barr Dowding, 2008) is a whole new concept which can
be implied to an action by a leader which is intended towards the well being of the patient and better
healthcare. This can be achieved by encouraging and educating the staff and designing quality service

John Williams Influence On Music
Could you imagine Jaws or Star Wars without their award winning music scores? These particular
films follow a distinct successful trend having to do with the iconic duo: director Steven Spielberg and
film composer John Williams, who have also worked together on E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic
Park, the Indiana Jones movies, and countless other famous movie titles. Music is the world s most
universal language. By itself, it can invoke emotions and create topics of discussion, but music
influences movies more than people think. Music in movies is extremely effective and can help
establish the tone and mood of any scene or setting with, speed and slow time even with no music,
help the audience characterize and connect with characters, and involve and affect the audience
mentally and emotionally.
When put to film, music can help establish the tone and mood for any setting. Music can especially
help distinguish the type of film. For example, comedic movies typically have more ridiculous, fast
paced, cartoon like music while romantic films may have more orchestral and lyrical music. The tone
of a scene can be emphasized as well. Eerie, dark music played during an intense scene will build
tension, but a celebration s music will be kept light hearted to show the atmosphere of the event.

Film score composers use familiar elements that the general public have grown up with. For example,
many people find children s songs terrifying. This is often taken advantage of and horror film directors
use warped lullabies to feed off fear which in turn, intensifies the scenes. Music can also be used in
symbolizing the importance of certain events or the music itself can be a symbol: a song on the radio

father fall in love again when they hear the song they danced to at their high school

The Theory Of Laughter And Humor
On average, how many times a day does the average person laugh? The internet informs us that the
average adult laughs seventeen times a day. While laughing is quite common, have you ever
considered the factors behind laughter? Three theorists Hobbes, Freud, and Bergson evaluate the
subject of laughter and humor. In the first few paragraphs of Hobbes passage, he discusses how people
degrade those they dislike. He then explains how humans desire to rise above others so they feel
superior, making his theory known as the superiority theory. Hobbes believes that by human nature,
witty jokes does not always produce laughter; laughter can be evoked by misfortunes or obscenities.
The essence of superiority then becomes apparent. Hobbes reveals laughter as hierarchical. Laughter
is aroused when others have different intellectual or social statuses. Due to the fact that men yearn to
feel higher in their rank, men dislike to be laughed at; Hobbes states, [it is no wonder therefore that
men take heinously to be laughed at or derided, that is, triumphed over] (66). An example that
supports Hobbes superiority claim is the popular phrase ain t nobody got time for that. This phrase
originated from a video of a woman, Sweet Brown, whose house burned down. This video evokes
laughter because the lady comes from a lower class home and is now homeless due to the fire; hence,
people feel that she is inferior to them. In addition, Sweet Brown talks in an uneducated way; this

symptoms. They want help, but sometimes help isn t always that easy and often times their mood can

So looks like you are here for the amazing rollercoaster life of Levi Simpson..... All the ups and

2001 in Fairmont Mayo Clinic hospital. Sorry that s the only information I can remember of this
depressing start and just to let you know it only got worse later on. What I mean by that is by the age 2
my parents got divorced and the full struggle started there... going through life wondering why your
own dad doesn t want you takes a toll on you. Of course life might hit you with some struggles but it s
supposed to get better right? Well for me of course not, my mom eventually found her new husband
and I was happy for her but still it added a lot of confusion on a young mind like mine. After a few
years go by and my mom is still seeing her soon to be husband Mike the huge decision was made. We
packed our bags and moved to 203 Queens Court in North Mankato where I started preschool on up.
About first grade is when I finally actually start to get down about the whole situation with my parents
split because I just remember walking into those parent conferences just hoping that maybe he might
show up because we are still his kids, well I thought wrong and the worst part was I would sit there
through the whole time looking at the door just wishing that he would just walk in and just try to be
the father I wanted him to be. Just to let you know he never showed not even once. Oh and to

Pros And Cons Of Privatization
The basic focus of this essay will be to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of Government owned
companies becoming Privatized and whether it is desirable for all the inefficient firms to go private
linking it with the real world situation of an international firm gone private. Nowadays firms that face
losses and are inefficient go private. The question is whether privatizing a company is a good option?
Will it be able to meet public demands?
The methodology whereby works that were in the past embraced by government are delegated rather
to the private segment (Stiglits 1997). After privatization a company is controlled completely in a
private entity. The privatization system is a piece of the administration s destination of expanding
effectiveness (Spurling 1988). When a business goes private from public its aim change because basic
aim of a business owned by the government is to work for the welfare of the society at the minimum
cost that is why usually they are inefficient where as in private sector efficiency is improved because
basic purpose of a private sector owner is to maximize profit.
The benefits of privatizing a firm play the role of reasons of the conversion. Privatization is proposed
to profit buyer, workers and the economy as an issue (Whitehead 1996). When a firm is privatized the

Ethnographic Research On Human Behavior
Introduction
Creswell (2007) describes ethnography as a qualitative design in which the researcher describes and
interprets the shared and learned patterns of values (p. 68). Ethnographic research provides a study on
individuals in their own environment. Throughout the research, researchers attempt to answer
questions in regards to human behavior. According to Schwartzman (1993), Ethnography is used for
research involving cultural sharing, and is linked to the use of anthropology as a way to view modern
organization (p. 3). The researchers examine individuals from the inside in order to gain a better
understanding of their actions. One of the keywords in ethnographic research is culture. Culture is the
focal point of ethnographic research. As stated by Van Maanen (Merriam, 2002), the result of
ethnographic inquiry is cultural description (p, 237). This involves the researcher conducting
extensive time to the research.
According to Merriam (2002), methods of Ethnographic research include interviews, observations,
and archival research. Through these methods, researchers are able to gather information on the shared
activities and patterns of individuals (Creswell, 2007). Several procedures are necessary in order to
conduct ethnographic research. The problem must be stated, a phenomenon of interest to study,
gaining access, collecting data, phenomenological data analysis, gathering themes, and compiling the
research information (Creswell, 2007).

Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner
The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story
follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the
heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying
Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due
to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In
Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and
barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by
creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and
friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner,
there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner
delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not
portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less
plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film
adaptation. Therefore, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

been stung by the grievers and this means he also underwent the Changing. This throws light upon the
question why Gally feels so much hate towards Thomas. Thus, this is clear in the book, in the film this
remains a mystery. Another reason for his changed character is the choice of scenes in the film. In the
film, some scenes that could have caused Gally to create more resentment towards Thomas are
eliminated. For instance, on Thomas s first day, he and Chuck are fooling with him whilst he is in the

A New Robust And Fully Automatic Technique For Calibration...
Abstract. The paper presents a new robust and fully automatic technique for calibration of three
dimensional (3D) freehand ultrasound. 3D Freehand ultrasound involves mounting a position sensor
on a standard probe. The echo graphic B scans can be localized in 3D, and can be compounded into
dimensions. On the other hand, especially for quantitative use, this process requires a calibration
procedure that fixes its accuracy and practicality. Calibration aims at defining the transformation
(translations, rotations, scaling) among the coordinates system of the echo graphic images and the
coordinate system of the localization system. We put forward a robust and fully automatic calibration
method based on the Hough transform and robust estimators.
Index terms: robotic ultrasound, autonomous acquisition, rgb d camera, B scan, robustness.
INTRODUCTION
In this work, we aim at closing the gap in the workflow of existing robotic support systems in order to
allow for completely automatic 3D ultrasound acquisitions using a robotic imaging system. We
present the pathway towards an autonomous robotic ultrasound system to help clinicians during
interventions by performing multiple and especially reproducible examinations based on pre
interventional planning. As it is mostly non invasive and has a real time capability and a
comparatively low cost nature, 2D ultrasound is popular. Its major shortcoming is its weak capability

Slide 3: A Z score informs us if a variable s score or value is equal, below, or above the mean. It also
determines the exact proportion or percentage of scores that fall between any two scores of normally
distributed scores. This sounds similar to the standard deviation; however, standard deviations are set
values that fall on a distribution; whereas, Z scores or values may lie anywhere on the normally
distributed curve. Hold that thought and I will go into greater detail as we progress.
Slide 4. The following is a good guideline to understand Z scores and their relationship to standard
deviations.
Slide 5: Let s look at a normal curve, using Z scores. On the left, we see a distribution title Positive Z.
Look at the highlighted area, B, which represents the percentage of scores or values between the mean
and a particular Z score above the mean. This Z score represents a positive Z score as it is to the right
of the mean. Notice that the area to the left of the mean equals 50% of the scores or values of a
variable. Remember we have symmetry of the curve on both sides or 50% of scores or values on both
sides.
On the right, we see a normal curve with a highlighted area, B, which represents the percentage of
scores or values between the mean and a particular Z score below the mean. This represents a negative
Z score.
Slide 6: Before we move on, it might help you to learn the formula for obtaining a Z score. A Z score

Theme Of Snow Country
The setting is the basis upon which the story of a novel develops, as it has a tremendous effect on what
happens in the story. In the novel Snow Country by Yasunari Kawabata the setting plays a pivotal role
in highlighting prominent themes such as, Loneliness, Wasted Love and Wasted Beauty. Snow country
is the literal translation of the Japanese title Yukiguni . The name comes from where the story takes
place or rather where the story is set ; a village (rural area) on an island in Japan that receives a huge
amount of snow during the season of winter . The title Snow Country it self induces a slight hint of the
setting that the story would be established on. Snow Country explores the mundane relationship
between Shimamura, a wealthy married man and Komako, a geisha who ... Show more content on

The novel carries the recurring theme of loneliness throughout. The loneliness in the, foreshadows the
loneliness in the characters of the novel.
The setting of the story which is cold and isolated; for instance The train came out of the long tunnel
into the snow country. The earth lay white under the night sky helps to portray the isolation in the
atmosphere at the beginning. Even though Kawabata has chosen a Japanese landscape vibrant in
natural beauty as the setting for a fleeting love story the isolation of the entire region adds effect to the
theme of loneliness and aids to the characters development. Shimamura isolates himself from his
family and from the world to visit a resort in an isolated region where he has a rather mundane
relationship which is fleeting like snow, with a geisha (Komako) who suffers from Loneliness; it is
evident that the setting influences the development of the character s characteristic. It is interesting to
note that Shimamura possesses striking characteristics; besides being aloof and self absorbed, he is
capable of making memorable and artistic observations of the world around him Along the coast the

Voting Rights
Young adults in current times have grown up with many rights that have not always been considered a
right but instead a privilege. Voting is one of these rights that was once only considered a privilege,
eligible for a particular gender and ethnicity. For many years this meant that the only group of people
allowed to vote were white males. Today, things are different and everyone has the choice to vote after
they reach the age of eighteen. The right to vote is a powerful right that we must take advantage of
because not every country is lucky enough to have a say in their government. Today, in America we
have the opportunity to decide if we would like to vote or not. Many Americans take pride in this right
as it is considered a civic duty that has not always been eligible to everyone. One of the first changes
in voting rights began with issuing literacy tests to limited individuals in hopes to earn a chance to
vote. Specifically, the 1965 Alabama Literacy Test was given to African Americans before they were
declared eligible to vote. This practice was intended to keep African Americans from having any input
when it came to voting. The idea of this literacy test was to give African Americans the chance to earn
the right to vote but, would not guarantee that right. The 1965 Alabama Literacy Test was part of voter
discrimination by only requiring a certain group of individuals participate in taking it. The 1965
Alabama Literacy Test was intended to be challenging to

There are various types of conflict and guidelines to effectively resolve conflict to which they are
addressed. What is conflict?
Conflict management is the process of preparing to avoid conflict and organizing to resolve conflict
where it does happen, as quickly and efficiently as possible. People often are unsure about how to
approach others when there is a problem or concern. Allowing and following the conflict management
process in the dental clinic can eliminate stresses that tie into the specific circumstances. The conflict
management process is a way of recognizing and resolving conflict amongst people to achieving its
goals. In my workplace there are many different conflicts that can arise between co workers.
Tekleab (2009) found that conflict management has a direct, positive effect on team cohesion and
moderates the relationship between relationship conflict and team cohesion as well as that between
task conflict and team cohesion. Respecting each other s differences while openly and honestly
communicating individual thoughts and feelings is a main factor in effective conflict management.
Defining the problem
The biggest problem facing most managers is conflict in the workplace. There are many examples of
the different types of conflict to avoid. Conflicts can arise in many forms within the workplace and
identifying the specific types of conflicts is important to management. Case in point, there are many
instances when the co worker does

Descriptive research is often used as a pre cursor to more quantitatively research designs, the general
overview giving some valuable pointers as to what variables are worth testing quantitatively.
Quantitative experiments are often expensive and time consuming so it is often good sense to get an
idea of what hypotheses are worth testing.
DISADVANTAGES Because there are no variables manipulated, there is no way to statistically
analyze the results. Many scientists regard this type of study as very unreliable and unscientific . In
addition, the results of observational studies are not repeatable, and so there can be no replication of
the experiment and reviewing of the results.
SURVEY
Survey research is one of the most important areas of measurement in applied social research. The
broad area of survey research encompasses any measurement procedures that involve asking questions
of respondents. A survey can be anything forms a short paper and pencil feedback form to an intensive
one on one in depth interview. Survey may be used to reveal summary statistics by showing responses
to all possible questionnaire items. It often provides leads in identifying needed changes. May be used
to explore relationships between 2 or more variables.
OBSERVATION
In marketing and the social sciences, observational research (or field research) is a social research
technique that involves the direct observation of phenomena

Maple Flag Research Paper
The Creation Of The Maple Leaf Flag Flags have symbolized and represented countries for hundreds
of years. Canada has had multiple flag changes since Confederation from the Union Jack to the Red
Ensign. However, a new flag was announced, and has been Canada s flag ever since. Creator of the
peacekeepers and future Prime Minister Lester Pearson had successfully convinced Canadians that
Canada was in need of a brand new flag. That flag has changed Canada s identity as an independent
nation by removing British influences and uniting all Canadians.
First of all, numerous people in Canada have been wanting a flag change for a long time. The main
event that caused Canada s flag change is the Suez Crisis. For instance, Britain has been using the ...

After Pearson announced that Canada is in need of a new flag, he is willing to take in flag design
submissions. Pearson said I believe that today a flag designed around the maple leaf will symbolize ...
will be a true reflection of the new Canada. (Levine). To illustrate, he wanted a flag that contains a
symbol that will be remembered as a true symbol of Canada. Pearson imaged the flag to be ideally
Canadian with symbols of objects found in Canada. Furthermore, countless suggestions contained the
symbol of the maple leaf as it has been Canada s symbol for many years. This can be seen in a few
select choices such as the Pearson Pennant designed by Alan Beddoe. There had been thousands of
unique ideas generated by Canadians of all ages, but the choice for Canada s new flag had come down
to the final top two. Likewise, the Maple Leaf and the Pearson Pennant became Canada s ultimate
choice for its national flag. After a prolonged period of time, the decision was settled over a debate in
the House of Commons on December 15, 1964 at 2:00 a.m. The results were 163 to 78 in favour of the
Maple Leaf flag. Additionally, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth the II signed the royal proclamation on
January 28, 1965. Furthermore, the Maple Leaf flag was raised on Parliament Hill for the first time on
February 15, 1965. This was seen as a long lasting change as the flag still flies today and may be

The prices of the deferral option and option to switch are zero and £0.11 million respectively. The total
NPV of the upgrade is £8.32 million. The incremental earnings per share of the upgrade is £ 0.0172,
the payback period is 4.23 years, and the internal rate of return is 24.3%.
The upgrade of the Rotterdam plant involves implementing the Japanese technology and requires a
capital expenditure of £8.0 million with £3.5 million spent today, £2.0 million on year one, £1.0
million on year two and £1.0 million on year three. This will also increase polypropylene output by
7% from current levels at a rate of 2.0% per year. In addition, gross margin will improve by 0.8% per
year from 11.5% to 16.0%. After auditing the financial models, it is concluded that the static net
present value of the upgrade is £6.35 million using a discount rate of 10% and an expected inflation
rate of 3% annually. The Rotterdam upgrade contains an option to switch to the speculated German
technology being available in five years. The current value of the option is zero as it is deeply out of
the money. The total net present value of the upgrade is £6.35 million. The incremental earnings per
share of the upgrade is £ 0.0013, the payback period is 14.13 years, and the internal rate of return is

Analysis Of The Movie The Halls Of The Montezumas By...
The Mexican War was a test to the belief that the United States had about itself and its destiny of
gaining land. The book To the Halls of the Montezumas by Robert W. Johannsen demonstrates the
way in which race interweaves with the war, with Americans not just viewing Mexicans as inferior,
but as superior to others themselves, functioning independent of any other race. The victories against
Mexico simply support the argument; the demeaning of Mexicans was another way to justify the
military actions. The overblown ego and sense of the entitlement that the United States has is what
makes the territorial expansion, and the means through which it acquires land, seemingly in the
American spirit. This attitude is fitting with its actions.
It was the early victories that the United States experienced that at first was shocking, but then gave
credence to the belief of the inferiority of Mexicans. As the contact and fighting between the United
States and Mexico grew, so did the justifications in the racial superiority of the Americans . It is with
this confidence that people began to feel that they could accurately point to the problem of Mexicans,
mainly that they seemed a combination of all different races, the worse qualities of each being the
ones that remained . This belief that the white population of the United States, as a whole, was
comprised of a better people was confirmed by the Army as it encountered them militarily and
culturally as it marched deeper into the country.

Should Chewing Gum Be Allowed In Schools
Should Chewing Gum Be Allowed In Schools? There is a debate over chewing gum in almost every
school across the world. Should chewing gum be allowed in schools? People argue whether or not
gum helps students focus and relax, or is a distraction. Students should be able to chew gum in school
because it helps them focus and relax, although others may argue it can be a distraction. Have you
ever felt like you can t retain any information or focus while studying? If so, you should try chewing
gum. Many people have tested if chewing gum while taking a test improves your scores, and it has
been proven true many times. However, chewing gum is not allowed in school. This should become a

A complaint by most teachers is that gum is messy and a huge distraction. That is the reason why most
schools are against gum chewing. Students may stick their gum under their desk or chairs or not
dispose of it properly. This causes the janitors to clean up the sticky, gooey mess. Some people believe
that chewing gum is the nastiest habit in the world. It can impede the learning process, and gum
chewing can be noisy and distracting to other students (Chewing Gum In School). Not only will the
whole classroom sound like cows, but it will turn into a garbage can for students. When students
dispose of their wad s around the school, it looks very unprofessional to upcoming students.
According to Jake Miller, Compared to the high school that I taught at, at which is less than 10 years
old i still remember going to get a drink from the water fountain that was splattered in gum, someone
even wrapping their gum around the faucet (The Educator s Room). Gum chewing is not allowed in
many schools, but most students do not follow the rules and chew their gum anyways. However,
teachers should still allow chewing gum in classrooms. If the students would to agree to dispose of
their gum properly, and chew it without anyone hearing them, gum should be allowed. Their grades
are more important to the students and parents, and if gum will help with the progression of that, it
should be

Photo 51 Controversy
Over time there has been a debate on whether it was ethical for showing Photo 51 without Rosalind s
permission was ethical. The showing without her permission was not ethical for multiple reasons. One
reason it wasn t ethical was because it took away many honors and awards for Rosalind Franklin. With
the showing of Photo 51, Francis Crick and James Watson used the information they gained from
Photo 51 to provide the famous model of DNA and win the Nobel Prize in 1953 (Franklin, 2015). If
they weren t shown the photo and Rosalind used that photo to create the DNA model, she would have
been honored with credibility and given the Nobel Prize instead of Wilkins and Watson. Another
reason it is unethical is because it made her stop researching DNA and research RNA. I think this
makes it unethical because being credited with the finding of DNA structure, it would have made her
more intrigued to study more about DNA and come up with more findings of DNA and be ... Show

The role of women has certainly changed over the last 65 years in a couple of ways. One way is that
women are more commonly known than they were in the past. An example of this was when
elementary school children were asked to draw a picture of a scientist in a recent study, 820 girls and
699 boys drew male scientists. Only 129 girls and just 6 boys drew female scientists (Giese, 2015). As
the years went on, more and more students started to draw female scientists which shows that they
have become more well known. Another reason their role has changed was because they have started
to be recognized for their work. An example was the number of female Nobel Prize winners. 65 years
ago, only three females had won the prize, but in the last 65 years, ten women have received the Nobel
Prize for science (Education, 2011). As you can see, women have started to be more recognized and
honored for their contributions to

What Is The View That In Domestic Policy Wolsey Was...
Do you agree with the view that in domestic policy, Wolsey was successful as the king s chief
minister?
When answering this essay I am going to measure Wolsey s success on his ability to please Henry. The
different categories which I am judging Wolsey s success are; finance, religion, law and order,
parliament and government and admin.
The first domestic policy category I am going to look at is government and admin. One of the
successful acts that Wolsey achieved in this category was centralising the local government. Doing
this brought things into the central control of the king and restored his power. Wolsey also began to
break up local magnate s power, this then transferred the more power over to Henry rather than the
magnates. Both these ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

sure Henry took care of people religiously also. Wolsey allowed Henry to gain some control of the

However, the church was in need of reform and although Wolsey talked about doing it he never did,
Wolsey was a failure in the aspect of Church and Religion as he did nothing, which to the people made
it look like Henry did nothing also. Although it may look like Henry did nothing, most of the blame
was on Wolsey. Wolsey allowed Henry to gain some control and helped with his title of defender of

My Leadership Reflection Paper
Glimpses of Me
The following is a self reflection of my leadership style and the experiences in my careers that have
led me to a Captain with the Henderson Police Department. The intent is to provide the reader with
some insight into why I am the person that I am and what I need to do to improve myself and in turn
the department as a whole.
I was born in May of 1968 in San Diego, California. I was the first of what would eventually become
3 children. My parents divorced when I was five and I spent my early years with my mother and sister,
visiting my father on the weekends.
In 1980, my mother remarried and we moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where my younger brother was
born, 13 years my junior. My step father was not a father figure by any ... Show more content on

There was not much in the way of mentoring or assistance in guiding my career, but being new and
wanting to please, I worked hard and did what I was asked, even if I did not like the way it was asked.
In 1995 the department decided that it needed a Crime Prevention Unit and I was selected to design
and implement this unit. They failed to mention that I was the unit and would be doing it by myself.
Based on the success I had in the Crime Prevention Unit, I was asked to create a Crime Analysis Unit
and then asked to implement Computer Forensics into our Investigations Bureau. During all of these
assignments, I worked as an individual and answered to a supervisor, who was uninvolved as long as I
did not cause them issues up the chain and obtained results.
The problem with this was that I learned to depend on no one and developed patterns that prevented
me from learning how to deal with and in turn lead others. If a project missed a deadline it was my
fault. I had the timelines, the due dates, and where the project was in my head at all times. There was
no need to determine how vacations, sick leave or any other scheduling issue would interfere with the
completion of a project. I never had to learn how to ask another person to pick up the pace, provide a
status check, handle additional workload, etc. Basically, I was a one man show, which as I moved up
the ranks of my department, turned into a weakness as I had not developed those interpersonal

  • 3. The Balance Of Power Theory Balance of power theory represents a body of interrelated concepts for achieving security and stability by maintaining an equal distribution of power throughout the international system. Some critics contend that the theory cannot provide guidance to states in a unipolar system since it developed out of centuries of multipolarity and decades of bipolarity. This assessment is incorrect. Although a specific conception of balance of power theory may not provide guidance, an appraisal of the concepts within its various forms suggests continuing relevance. This paper discusses balance of power theory by examining the evolution of its structural and ideational variants, and asserts that the concept remains relevant in a unipolar international system. The balance of power is a historical concept with a variety of meanings. In Thucydides account of the Melian dialogue, he indirectly refers to countries balancing in response to growing Athenian power and aggression (Thucydides, 1972). Over 1200 years later, Hobbes described balancing in reference to the ability of a confederacy of the weak to overwhelm the strong (Hobbes, 1996). Both Thucydides and Hobbes reference a type of balancing aimed at reestablishing an equilibrium of power within the international system. Gulick refers to this behavior by states as a doctrine of counterpoise, designed to ensure the survival of individual states and to prevent a state from accruing predominant power (Gulick, 1955). • 6. Science Of Greed For this TED talk discuss I watched the first video which was called the Science of Greed by Paul K. Piff. The central argument for this talk was revolved around the behavior of how people of wealth, the people with power, or the people who thing they are better see themselves in conjunction with the rest of the world. Although some of the points that were touched upon during the course of the video were things that I have more or less known of still somehow managed to hit me and completely shock me. For example, during the talk Paul K. Piff spoke of a research project that researchers and he had done and the research involved a game of Monopoly however the game was fixed with one player having a greater advantage over the other. The results of the study were that the players who had the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The elephant being that in our society we have become accustom to the presence of greed because there is really no way to combat it. Within our country a top percentage of the population has a majority of wealth and power and reserve it for themselves while everyone below them have to squalor for some sort of change towards the pursuit of a better life. However it is just those at the top who are the greediest people, it is everyone in fact because in our daily lives we in some shape or form do thing and make decisions that have a greater effect on us rather than someone. A majority of the time people put themselves and other second, it is almost a second nature to mankind. People have always been in the presence of greed throughout their lives because it almost gives a purpose, meaning that it ignites a fire within us that is fueled by the constant want for materialistic items as a way to show we have power or are successful. • 7. The Starrry Night And Musee Des Beaux Arts By Anna Sexton In my compare and contrast essay, I am going to be comparing two poems. The two poems that I will be comparing are Musee des Beaux Arts by W.H. Auden and The Starry Night by Anna Sexton. I will be comparing and contrasting their different plots and the meaning behind each of the poems. The first poem, Musee des Beaux Arts by W. H. Auden is about a fictional being falling from the sky and the people around not noticing it, but just going about their daily lives. The meaning behind it is that something really bad can happen, but no one would notice it because they are too busy to see what is happening or just to blind to notice it. The plot of the poem is that people cannot turn an eye to someone else who is suffering or dying because they are too caught up in their lives or their own drama to care about other people s feelings, or what is going on with them. Foreshadowing is to show or indicate beforehand. This poem was indicating that the person falling into the ocean in the painting about the poem was a Greek mythical character and the fall was foreshadowing the ending of his faith or his life. Maybe he committed some kind of offense and he s being punished for it, and his punishment was to fall from the sky. In Musee des Beaux, Auden states, How, when the aged are reverently, passionately waiting, For the miraculous birth, there always must be (Auden), meaning that they were consciously and unconsciously waiting for his doomed faith, which was falling from the sky and ... • 8. Nihilism According To Nietzsche The nihilism analysis has been prevalent position over the past few years. Its anticipated purpose is to demand questions about the norms made in a philosophical debate. These contain the notion that one must actually suggest and preserve an idea in order to contextualize one s idea. Tacitly, this philosophy, nihilism, seems new to most people and to philosophy as a whole. Especially from a Western standpoint. But Nietzsche conducts an unapologetic attack on what society has deemed as conformist morality. And at the end of the 19th Century (when he died) this could have struck many as more progressive rather than conservative. Many during that time, however, saw it as pure sacrilege. The entrenched on both sides have made it difficult ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As a communications major, the focus should not be on the words themselves, but rather on the more in depth meaning of those words. Zarathustra says the coined phrase and follows up with, We have killed Him. In laymen s terms, the scientific certainty has made God archaic and outdated. But really, there is an underlayment here. The underlying idea that it is not just God (this supernatural icon in the sky) that is dead, but rather the idea that many of the absolutes that we discussed previously have died. One specifically being morality. These outmoded morals cannot direct the humans in a more intricate world/society. There are many discussions that have been had about this phrase and what it could mean, but the most significant is that the value itself is prospectively weak. Humans have transformed into this complicated being, and constrained by this badness of morals. There is one woman who would argue in a Newsweek article that Nietzsche through objective morality. Karen Armstrong of Newsweek states in the article History of God that ...Nietzsche was right to say that human beings killed God. Even fundamentalists (whose faith is essentially modern and innovative) bear to the fact that men and women can no longer be religious in the same way as their ancestors. In the postmodern world, it was generally understood that while reason was indispensable for mathematics, science, or politics. It could, not by itself give human beings access to the divine. But the extraordinary success of scientific rationalism in the modern world has made reason the only path to truth. We assume that God is an objective fact, like the atom, whose existence can be proved empirically. When we find the demonstration unconvincing, we lose faith. Our neglect of the esthetic of prayer, liturgy, and mythology has indeed killed our sense of the divine. 1 Nietzsche labels this as a bit of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Character of Iago in Shakespeare s Othello Essay The Character of Iago The old cliché One bad apple ruins the bunch is what enters one s mind when discussing the villainous, deceitful, protagonist Iago in Shakespeare s tragedy Othello. It is amazing how one person alone can completely destroy, or deteriorate a group of good natured, trusting, loyal peoples lives in a matter of days three to be exact. What is the motive behind Iago s heinous, selfish acts, one may ask? A rather obvious theme in the Shakespeare s tragedy, Othello , is that of the many facets of jealousy, which instigate the evil doings of protagonist, Iago. Jealousy can be best defined, in the thinking of Renaissance, as a derivative or compounded passion. It is a species of envy, which is in turn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Iago s motive behind his evil plot against Othello all starts when Othello chooses Cassio as his Lieutenant, which leaves Iago feeling as if someone stole his glory. Even further, Iago s jealousy is deepened by Othello s accomplishments and role he holds within his state. We are told that he [Othello] is of noble birth, that war and adventures have been his nurses, that he may be considered a [Moorish] barbarian and yet that the Venetian state has found him so valuable in action, that he cannot be expelled no matter what offense may be found in him (Jorgensen 25). This alone makes Iago surpass any sort of admiration of Othello, for it only feeds his jealousy and envy. Iago is infuriated and retaliates by making Othello question the degree of his wife s faithfulness. At last Othello is moved. Iago sees that is poisonous words are beginning to have an effect and knows better than to enlarge up the ideas that are already planted in Othello s mind his own imagination will accomplish more... (Charney 213). The deceit has set in. Cassio and Iago s relationship, much like all of Iago s relationships, is based on an evil web of even more lies and jealous acts. Leading A Team Into Change Essay ESSAY LEADING A TEAM INTO CHANGE SUBMITTED BY BHARATH KUMAR CIB0000243 2A, DHSM LV7 TO KAYLENE TRIBE DUE DATE 12/12/14 I would like to start by defining the leadership, which I believe is a quality or discipline that a leader should possess in order to guide people or organisation towards goal setting, maximise their efforts and achieve the proposed goals. A leader is an ideal mentor or pioneer who leads by examples. Leader encourages, promotes and strengthens the qualities of the followers, so that they can perform with their maximum potential. . Successful leaders have the ability to set and accomplish testing objectives, to make quick and definitive move even in difficult circumstances, to outflank their competitions, to go out on a limb and to persist despite failures. Clinical leadership (Barr Dowding, 2008) is a whole new concept which can be implied to an action by a leader which is intended towards the well being of the patient and better healthcare. This can be achieved by encouraging and educating the staff and designing quality service plan for the clients. I am the leader of a team which is the part of the Aged care health provider ... Functionality of the SIM card: Identification of a User: The International Mobile Subscriber Identity programmed on the SIM card, is the identity of a user, which is linked to a mobile number. Boxing at a distance was fine. Exchanging punches on the inside was even better. Garcia (37 0, 30 KOs) showed a depth of talent that was too much for Broner (33 3, 24 KOs) winning their showdown by a 12 round unanimous decision. The scores were 117 111, and 116 112 (twice) Maxboxing had Garcia the winner by 117 111 tally. The fight started slowly. Broner worked his jab and used lateral movement. • 13. John Williams Influence On Music Could you imagine Jaws or Star Wars without their award winning music scores? These particular films follow a distinct successful trend having to do with the iconic duo: director Steven Spielberg and film composer John Williams, who have also worked together on E.T. the Extra Terrestrial, Jurassic Park, the Indiana Jones movies, and countless other famous movie titles. Music is the world s most universal language. By itself, it can invoke emotions and create topics of discussion, but music influences movies more than people think. Music in movies is extremely effective and can help establish the tone and mood of any scene or setting with, speed and slow time even with no music, help the audience characterize and connect with characters, and involve and affect the audience mentally and emotionally. When put to film, music can help establish the tone and mood for any setting. Music can especially help distinguish the type of film. For example, comedic movies typically have more ridiculous, fast paced, cartoon like music while romantic films may have more orchestral and lyrical music. • 14. The Theory Of Laughter And Humor On average, how many times a day does the average person laugh? The internet informs us that the average adult laughs seventeen times a day. While laughing is quite common, have you ever considered the factors behind laughter? Three theorists Hobbes, Freud, and Bergson evaluate the subject of laughter and humor. In the first few paragraphs of Hobbes passage, he discusses how people degrade those they dislike. He then explains how humans desire to rise above others so they feel superior, making his theory known as the superiority theory. Hobbes believes that by human nature, witty jokes does not always produce laughter; laughter can be evoked by misfortunes or obscenities. The essence of superiority then becomes apparent. Hobbes reveals laughter as hierarchical. Laughter is aroused when others have different intellectual or social statuses. Due to the fact that men yearn to feel higher in their rank, men dislike to be laughed at; Hobbes states, [it is no wonder therefore that men take heinously to be laughed at or derided, that is, triumphed over] (66). An example that supports Hobbes superiority claim is the popular phrase ain t nobody got time for that. This phrase originated from a video of a woman, Sweet Brown, whose house burned down. This video evokes laughter because the lady comes from a lower class home and is now homeless due to the fire; hence, people feel that she is inferior to them. In addition, Sweet Brown talks in an uneducated way; this leads ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Pros And Cons Of Privatization The basic focus of this essay will be to discuss the benefits and drawbacks of Government owned companies becoming Privatized and whether it is desirable for all the inefficient firms to go private linking it with the real world situation of an international firm gone private. Nowadays firms that face losses and are inefficient go private. The question is whether privatizing a company is a good option? Will it be able to meet public demands? The methodology whereby works that were in the past embraced by government are delegated rather to the private segment (Stiglits 1997). After privatization a company is controlled completely in a private entity. The privatization system is a piece of the administration s destination of expanding effectiveness (Spurling 1988). When a business goes private from public its aim change because basic aim of a business owned by the government is to work for the welfare of the society at the minimum cost that is why usually they are inefficient where as in private sector efficiency is improved because basic purpose of a private sector owner is to maximize profit. • 19. Ethnographic Research On Human Behavior Introduction Creswell (2007) describes ethnography as a qualitative design in which the researcher describes and interprets the shared and learned patterns of values (p. 68). Ethnographic research provides a study on individuals in their own environment. Throughout the research, researchers attempt to answer questions in regards to human behavior. According to Schwartzman (1993), Ethnography is used for research involving cultural sharing, and is linked to the use of anthropology as a way to view modern organization (p. 3). The researchers examine individuals from the inside in order to gain a better understanding of their actions. One of the keywords in ethnographic research is culture. Culture is the focal point of ethnographic research. As stated by Van Maanen (Merriam, 2002), the result of ethnographic inquiry is cultural description (p, 237). This involves the researcher conducting extensive time to the research. According to Merriam (2002), methods of Ethnographic research include interviews, observations, and archival research. Through these methods, researchers are able to gather information on the shared activities and patterns of individuals (Creswell, 2007). Several procedures are necessary in order to conduct ethnographic research. The problem must be stated, a phenomenon of interest to study, gaining access, collecting data, phenomenological data analysis, gathering themes, and compiling the research information (Creswell, 2007). • 20. Differences Between The Movie And The Maze Runner The Maze Runner, written by James Dashner is the first book in the Maze Runner pentalogy. The story follows the adventures of a sixteen year old boy named Thomas, who finds himself waking up in the heart of a labyrinth, titled The Glade . As it turns out there are many teenage boys accompanying Thomas. The aim is to escape from the labyrinth, but this does not go as effortlessly as it sounds, due to the fact that the labyrinth is constructed by the inexplicable and threatening WICKED (World In Catastrophe Killzone Experiment Department). At nightfall, the walls of the labyrinth move and barricade the four entrances of the labyrinth. The walls prevent the boys from being attacked by creatures called grievers, who walk around the labyrinth every night. Survival intuition, faith and friendship are some of the themes portrayed in the book. In the film adaptation of The Maze Runner, there are three highly visible differences in comparison to the book. In the first place, Dashner delightfully depicts the thought processes of the protagonist in the book, whilst in the film this is not portrayed at all. Secondly, the time frame of the film is diminished, which makes the story less plausible. Lastly, the strong characters Dashner developed for the books are nullified in the film adaptation. • 21. A New Robust And Fully Automatic Technique For Calibration... Abstract. The paper presents a new robust and fully automatic technique for calibration of three dimensional (3D) freehand ultrasound. 3D Freehand ultrasound involves mounting a position sensor on a standard probe. The echo graphic B scans can be localized in 3D, and can be compounded into dimensions. On the other hand, especially for quantitative use, this process requires a calibration procedure that fixes its accuracy and practicality. Calibration aims at defining the transformation (translations, rotations, scaling) among the coordinates system of the echo graphic images and the coordinate system of the localization system. We put forward a robust and fully automatic calibration method based on the Hough transform and robust estimators. Index terms: robotic ultrasound, autonomous acquisition, rgb d camera, B scan, robustness. INTRODUCTION In this work, we aim at closing the gap in the workflow of existing robotic support systems in order to allow for completely automatic 3D ultrasound acquisitions using a robotic imaging system. We present the pathway towards an autonomous robotic ultrasound system to help clinicians during interventions by performing multiple and especially reproducible examinations based on pre interventional planning. As it is mostly non invasive and has a real time capability and a comparatively low cost nature, 2D ultrasound is popular. Its major shortcoming is its weak capability of issuing quantitative accurate ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Voting is one of these rights that was once only considered a privilege, eligible for a particular gender and ethnicity. For many years this meant that the only group of people allowed to vote were white males. Today, things are different and everyone has the choice to vote after they reach the age of eighteen. The right to vote is a powerful right that we must take advantage of because not every country is lucky enough to have a say in their government. Today, in America we have the opportunity to decide if we would like to vote or not. Many Americans take pride in this right as it is considered a civic duty that has not always been eligible to everyone. One of the first changes in voting rights began with issuing literacy tests to limited individuals in hopes to earn a chance to vote. Specifically, the 1965 Alabama Literacy Test was given to African Americans before they were declared eligible to vote. This practice was intended to keep African Americans from having any input when it came to voting. The idea of this literacy test was to give African Americans the chance to earn the right to vote but, would not guarantee that right. The book To the Halls of the Montezumas by Robert W. Johannsen demonstrates the way in which race interweaves with the war, with Americans not just viewing Mexicans as inferior, but as superior to others themselves, functioning independent of any other race. The victories against Mexico simply support the argument; the demeaning of Mexicans was another way to justify the military actions. The overblown ego and sense of the entitlement that the United States has is what makes the territorial expansion, and the means through which it acquires land, seemingly in the American spirit. This attitude is fitting with its actions. It was the early victories that the United States experienced that at first was shocking, but then gave credence to the belief of the inferiority of Mexicans. As the contact and fighting between the United States and Mexico grew, so did the justifications in the racial superiority of the Americans . It is with this confidence that people began to feel that they could accurately point to the problem of Mexicans, mainly that they seemed a combination of all different races, the worse qualities of each being the ones that remained .
