A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

Creation myths are the most common form of mythology throughout most of the ancient cultures of
the world and evolved from first an oral history passed on to the next generation ending with
multiple versions. Mythologists have categorized these mythologies from the various and numerous
ancient cultures into five types, which include Ex Nihilo, Creation from Chaos, World Parent,
Emergence and Earth Diver. The creation myth Ex Nihilo, which means out of nothing explains
how the world along with mankind were created by a creators speech, during a dream, wheb they

The Avesta tells how their supreme god named Ahura Mazda, also know as Ormazd, creates the
Earth, trees, plants, animals and mankind in the course of six periods with each period lasting
3,000 years. In the beginning, nothing else existed except for Ahura Mazda who lives in Endless
Light.
Most of the modern biblical scholars believe that there are clearly two versions of the creation
story that exist in the chapters of Genesis 1 through 3 in the Old Testament. These versions
appear to come from three different authors or groups of authors called the Jahwist source, the
Priestly sources and the Redactor source. Written by the Priestly source, around 450BC, the first
version begins in Genesis 1:1 31 and ends in Genesis 2:1 3. Next, the Jahwist source writes the
second version in Genesis 2:4 25, around 950BC, with additional verses written, around 750 to
400BC, by the Redactor source. With all of these dates in mind, it would then appear that the first
version in Genesis 1 was written at a later date than Genesis 2 resulting with the version from
Genesis 2 being the first version. Also, notice the differences between the 2 versions such as in
Genesis 1 where the focus is on the entire universe, whereas, in Genesis 2 the focus is on the
creation of man and his environment.

3. Our Safeguards Against Cyberterrorism And What We Can Do...
Nathaniel Howard
COMS 3053
Paper #1
Our Safeguards against Cyberterrorism In reality, attacks in cyber space happen all the time.
Over 20 million cyber attacks happened within Utah in 2013 each day, and this was from Utah s
government websites, not including businesses. ( Fortis Blog ) Just imagine the various ways one
could hack a website. Someone can even look up how to do it nowadays, and with at least half of
the population in the U.S. using a computer, there are an untold number of people who use hack
from inside the country. There are also those who hack from outside the country, and that is at least
enough to accumulate up to 20 million attacks a day. Unfortunately, there are fewer ways to secure
ourselves from these attacks, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Just as a hacker can get information from any citizen in the world, a cyber terrorist can get
information from any government. The methods used to block these attacks could also be similar,
even though there might be a few select methods tailored to each.
Why do we need safeguards?
As it was stated earlier, attacks happen every day, probably too many to count, and the need to
secure our systems grows exponentially every day. New systems, devices, programs, etc., are
being developed, and the current growth of technology is quite staggering. We also give our
information online in order to use several services, such as Facebook and Amazon. This
information can be used against us, and used to find other pieces of personal information, such as a
social security number. The concern to guard our technology was present before some of us were
even born. For example, in 1982, the CIA created the logic bomb to disrupt a pipeline in Siberia,
which opened up a new tool for hackers ( 25 Biggest Cyber Attacks, 2013). In 2007, the email
address belonging to the Secretary of Defense was hacked as part of a spree to exploit
weaknesses at the Pentagon ( history of cyber attacks ). Even a high ranking official s email
address wasn t safe from cyberterrorists. This information alone should scare some people into
making cyber security the top of their worry list. Everyone s information is always at risk.
How can we be attacked?

6. The Gender Pay For The Workforce Ever Since The Fair Labor...
According to Kim (2015), there has been a great deal of change to the workforce ever since the
Fair Labor Standards Act of 1938 was enacted. Since this time, there has been a huge influx of
women entering into the job market, where there had not been prior to the law. This meant that
during the time of the laws creation there had not been near the women receiving pay for their
services like there were in the years to follow. To help modernize this change amendments needed
to be added and this included the Equal Pay Act of 1963. This Act made it mandatory for
employers to offer equal pay to both menand women who perform equal work (Kim, 2015, p.
648). However, since this law has been created there has been an ongoing problem with making
sure it is being followed and still today there is a genderpay gap. The American Association of
University Women (2014), describe the gender pay gap to be the difference in men s and
women s average earnings. These differences are typically stated as either an actual pay gap or
an earnings ratio among men and women. To calculate an earnings ratio, one needs to obtain the
average wage earned by women and divide that number by the average wage earned by men. To
see whether there is an actual pay gap, one needs to take the average wage earned by men subtract
the average wage earned by women and then divide that number by the average wage earned by
men. The Department of Laborin 2012 reported the pay gap in average weekly earnings to be that

Being asked to compare my mother with my father is like being asked to compare Pluto with the
Sun. Both completely separate entities consisting of elements antagonistic to each other. Each
containing their own distinct atmosphere and climate: each having their own characteristic
qualities that affect the life surrounding them or subsequent lack thereof. To be quite honest, I don t
understand how two people that are so fundamentally different could have ever fallen in love, fallen

importantly, their role in my universe has always been entirely different. Their characteristic

them. My mother s all encompassing love, compassion and support has always been present. She is
essential to the life surrounding her, she sustains the needs of those within her gravity. She, as the

11. Concept And It s Implication On Accounting Practises
CURRENT ISSUES ASSIGNMENT: ESSAY Prepared by: Prashnit singh ID: 1242222 Lecturer:
Helen Tregidga Abstract The objective of this essay is to research about integrated reporting and
write about the concept and it s implication on accounting practises. For the research I used journal
articles to help me understand and explain the concept of integrated reporting. The results which I
obtained from the research are that integrated reporting is very useful for organisations because it
helps to develop new understanding of corporate report. However, due to lack of framework and
standards, gathering all the nonfinancial and financial information for an integrated report can be a
difficult task for organizations. Introduction The essay contains an introduction of integrated
reporting followed by the main body which consists of three questions. The first question is talking
about what is integrated reporting and its concepts. The second question is describing benefits and
challenges of integrated reporting. Finally, the third question is explaining what effects does
integrated reporting has on accounting practices. The essay concludes with a conclusion. Main
body What is integrated reporting and the concepts of it? Integrated reporting seeks to provide
insights about the relationship and resources used and affected by an organization. According to

Ms. Lemry was struck with notice of the pain Sarah was going through and it improved Sarah s

16. An Abortion in the Poem, The Mother by by Gwendolyn Brooks
The poem The Mother by Gwendolyn Brooks is about the aftereffects and feelings that come
from an abortion. The woman in the poem shows remorse over the children she aborted earlier
in her life and regrets that she gave up the chance to be a mother to them. This poem, while about
a woman who chose to have abortions, still carries with it a clear pro life message. The woman in
the poem is clearly someone who feels guilt over the abortions she has had. She shows her regrets
through describing what someone will never be able to do after having an abortion. In this she
includes the bad things that mothers can do like, You will never neglect or beat/Them, or
silence or buy with a sweet, as well as those acts that people commonly associated as maternal
such as protecting the children from imaginary ghosts, You will never wind up the sucking
thumb/Or scuttle off ghosts that come. Then she switches the style she uses and instead of
talking about what happens if a person in general has an abortion, she starts to talk about herself
and her own experiences. She feels haunted by these unborn children of hers, shown from the
line, I have heard in the voices of the wind the voices of my dim killed children. These voices that
she hears aren t real and nobody but her can hear them. This is her guilt over having the abortions
manifesting itself in her mind. The wind is a metaphor for the guilt because on some days, guilt can

18. Analysis Of Flying By Alice Miller
Flying, by Alice Miller is a complex story about a woman named Allie, who reminisces about a
time spent when her cousin Mack taught her to fly when she was just a young girl. On different
occasions when Mack visited, he would show her how to do new things. As Allie grew up she
found herself thinking of the secret that Mack shared with her and how he told her not to tell
anyone or she may get hurt. Allie longed for the feeling of flying, if she could just reach out and
talk to Mack but too much time had passed. She dreams of flying in her sleep, not for long
periods of time, but just enough to embrace that feeling she had years ago. She wonders if many
people have experienced flying the way that she has and if she could fly by herself without
Mack. One day, Allie tries to fly on her own and succeeds, soaring higher than she did with
Mack. Before Allie knew it, she was flying through the clouds and around town. Now that Allie
has experienced the feeling of flying again, more than ever she wanted to share with her kids.
One night after the children were asleep she wanted to share her secret with her boys but instead
chose her daughter. Miller suggests that when a person is afraid of doing something on their
own, sometimes it just takes a little bit of courage to step out and let go of the things that could
be holding a person back. Allie appears to be a lonely person, although married and with three
children of her own. She has no one that she can share her secret of

In the Corporate Roles, Personal Virtues: An Aristotelean Approach to Business Ethics, Robert
Solomon argues that toughness is a virtue, but callousness and indifference is not. Solomon views
the Aristotle approach the proper way, because it considers both personal and business values.
However, Albert Carr argues that business and personal ethicsdon t mix; and game strategy in
business leads to success. In this paper, I will argue that Carr prevails Solomon s business ethics
and his claim.
Aristotle is a philosopher that is known for his interest in virtue ethics, but is more recognized for
his business ethics (Solomon 67). Before explaining the latter, Aristotle explains the role of the
virtues in ethics and the good life through: community, excellence, role identity, integrity, judgement
(phronesis), holism. The Aristotelean approach to community comes first, because we as an
individual find our identity through institutions. Darwinism s survival of the fittest and neo
Hobbesian s every man for themselves contradicts the Aristotelian view. Business and personal
agenda needs each other to be more productive; yet, the corporation one choose will determine the
level of happiness or eudaimonia. Solomon claims that business students now seek jobs that have
higher salaries, so he tells them, to live a decent life by choosing the right company (Solomon 70).

20. Comparing Emerson And Thoreau
During the nineteenth century, the new philosophical trend of transcendentalism occurred. Ralph
Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau, two contemporary authors, expressed
transcendentalist ideas through their writing. Their perspectives of nature and society were
both very similar. They believe people need to simplify their lives, and spend time in nature. To
them, nature is the key to peace and tranquillity that people knowingly and unknowingly seek.
Herman Melville, another contemporary author of that time, has a very different view of
nature. Through Moby Dick, he expresses his ideas that nature is essentially evil. He thinks that
it is dangerous, and in order to protect yourself you need to go on the offense against it. Thoreau
and Emerson urge people to live a peaceful, simplistic life and they think that spending time in
nature, which is essentially good, is the key to doing so, while Melville thinks that nature is a
destructive force that people should either avoid or fight. Emerson is one of the first people to
introduce the idea of nature being the key to peace. He insists that the natural world is beautiful,
and people should spend their time in it. In his essay Nature, Emerson says Nature never wears a

In Dante Alighieri The Divine Comedy, Dante uses imagery to scare the readers into not sinning

Dante and Virgil travel further into the ninth circle and eventually see Satan, a three headed
beast, eating the worst sinners, Brutus, Judas, and Cassius. Dante describes Satan and how
powerless he is. Satan is as big as a mountain and is trapped in an icy lake , and crying. Satan tries
to get out by beating his wings, but that makes things worse. Satan actually has no power. The
complete opposite of what most people think of Satan. Satan is trapped with his sinners in a
frozen ice and the sinners have to last him. This is the worst imagery ever because Dante is
showing that if you sin and betray then you could be eaten on by Satan and not be able to move.
Then, Dante and Virgil attempt to enter the Purgatory, but is stopped by Cato. Cato says that they

of which nearly 10% comes from homes. Up until the 1980s, much of this waste was never
recycled. However, in the early 90s, the green revolution in Europe and North America led to the
concept of recycling. By the late 90s, there was more awareness of climate changes caused by
humans and the earth s valuable resources were being rapidly destroyed. Experts began to state that
life would not be sustainable for long and recyclingwas necessary. At the same time, the UK had
joined the European Union who encouraged a recycling program in the UK.
In just one decade, British citizens increased recycling of waste from 7.5% to 44%. Today, British
citizens recycle more household waste than what is sent to the landfill sites. Today most UK
citizens are being encouraged to participate in recycling at home. The good thing about recycling is
that any homeowner can participate because it is not an expensive undertaking. Some of the ways
you can start recycling at your home include the following:
1. Gift wraps: This is the season where people give each other presents. Avoid wrapping presents
with too much paper and limit the number of box fillers/bubble wrap. Make your own gift cards.
You can even reuse the gift paper to send gifts to others.

gradually narrow them down using different stages to a field of desirables, and those who we
would consider as potential partners. The first filter is the social and demographic variables where

However, Gruber Baldini et al (1995) found that couples who were similar were more likely to be

validity of the experiment. Furthermore, Kerchkoff used a student population in his study
therefore this research may not be generalised to older or different members of society and adult
relationship formation. In addition, the Filter theory fails to take into account individual
differences. In real life, people give importance to different factors. The filter model is a 3 stage
theory ,which makes it quite artificial and fails to capture the dynamics and fluency of
relationships. In real life, relationships change and develop, some flow faster/slower and these
factors cannot fit neatly into stages. Therefore the filter theory can t be applied to all relationships
and is an incomplete explanation for relationship formation. Moreover, the filter model is
reductionist as it simplifies complex relationships down to three stages. There is more to
relationships than the theory states as the filter theory fails to explain love and other factors that
may lead to the formation of relationships. Also the social demographic filter may be less important
today as we have greater mobility and the ability to make contact and stay in touch electronically

The most well accepted definition of stem cells however is that they are cells that can

Individual opinions on this issue are characterized by, religious, legal and medical values and
belief. These form the basis of the debate as to whether or not it is humane and ethical to destroy
even one embryo for the advance of the sciences and the benefit of millions. However there is an
alternative method of stem cell research which makes use of adult stem cells that are found
throughout the body, including in bone marrow and hair follicles. Robert Hoffman, of the

possible to take a person s own stem cells from hair follicles and grow a tissue transplant. However,

grow more quickly and easily in labs.

Though not always are the reactions better for us, there are better responses than ones that can
harm a person s body even more. For example, in the article A Path Out of Pain it tells others
some reactions people go through, some reactions for people is they tense up and that person
then holds that person s breath, freeze and/or ar frantic, or even make noises. It just all depends
on the person. ( n.p.). This can tell people what kind of reactions that a person does and then
learn, as well as try not to do it for it harms the body more than helps it. This is important for it
then shows people that even a person s reaction will not always help the situation at hand. More
evidence says, in A Path Out of Pain this Instead of reacting you could choose to respond. For
example: instead of tensing up you could relax; instead of holding your breath you could breath
gently; instead of changing your position constantly you could let yourself be still; and instead
of making faces, holding, yourself or sighing, you could let the experience in and let pain be. (
n.p.). This demonstrates that people should do the things listed above so that anybody who is
hurt does not harm the body part even more. This is significant because it can help people
respond different than be angry. A person can feel calmer and at least a little relaxed for that
person knows what to do. This tells people that how you react can hurt more, but some of the

the researchers hypothesized that retinal ganglion cells (RGC) may be the light sensitive cells
utilized in the non image forming visual response pathway. The researchers also hypothesized that
if the RGCs are light sensitive, then the protein melanopsin, which is found on the surface of
RGCs, is likely the photopigment that causes RGCs to respond to light. 2. What is the rationale and
relevance of the question? (1 point) This study is important because it allows us to better
understand the mechanisms that regulate essential biological functions such as pupil control and
circadian rhythm. This research is especially relevant to those who suffer from certain disorders
that disrupt normal biological responses and functions, such as hypernychthemeral syndrome.
Hypernychthemeral syndrome, or Non24, is characterized by delays in tiredness as well as
continuous shifts in awareness. Non24 is just one of many circadian

During my time at USC, I have strived to connect with both prospective and current students. While
working with the Honors College to develop and help lead the Honors Ambassadors program, I
have been able to impact prospective students through lending them advice and sharing my own
experiences. As a part of this program, I present information sessions to visiting students in addition
to attending Admitted Students Day, alumni receptions, and other events to foster connections with
prospective students. Several of these students remained in contact after they decided to attend
USC and have reached out to say that the opportunity to form a personal connection with a current
Honors studentplayed an important role in their decision making process.

36. Wireless Devices and Applications
I.INTRODUCTION
In these modern times when communication has become a fundamental tool for progress and
advancement on many terms, it is already considered an imperative for many companies and
businesses to improve their communication and information technology. The advent of new
technologies and the introduction of newer softwares and tools necessary for survival in the tough
and competitive market make it possible for many businesses and companies to reach their
employees, other partner markets or businesses and even their customers while on the move. This
is the gift of wireless devices and applications technology.
Wireless devices and applications (WDA) are used by many organizations in their various
operations because it has many ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It s like being trapped in a black hole and you ll get mad repeating it over and over again.
Seriously, a customer wouldn t be impressed by this system. It may be true that WDA gives us a lot
of conveniences than ever but it s like investing on your business graveyard if you leave your
communication unit unmanaged and unpolished. As Krotz (2008) suggested, technology, indeed,
can never replace human help for customers. Excellent customer service still depends on how
personnel treats and interacts with the customers, not with how efficient the WDA works.
WIRELESS USAGE EXPENSE. Constant calls by the employees not only to unwilling
customers but even to the offices just to check their mails or any agenda also contributes to
towering wireless bills from service providers. The problem with some employees is that they
have fooled themselves that wireless technology is also charge free. Actually, it is otherwise.
Companies spend a lot on these services and by lot it may mean hundreds of thousands to even
millions for communication alone. Aside from these business calls, there are still other calls which
are out of the business or under the table calls which these employees may make. The high cost
that the company pays may not lead to anything useful at all. In the case where an employee s call
credit has exceeded the amount of money his customer/s has brought

37. Stand Up Or Stay Down Analysis
Stand Up or Stay Down Marjory Stoneman Douglas said it best with the simple but powerful
statement, You have to stand up for some things in this world . Even though Douglas was fighting
for preservation of the Everglades, Hazel Johnson applied this to her own struggle when she began
to fight back about the environmental racism bestowed on herself as well as her community. She
had been outright tricked, lured to a black neighborhood intended for WWII veterans with an
abundance of arbor and flowers just to conceal the nasty truth that laid beneath. It took a page out of
the concentration camps of the same war, tricking the vulnerable into accepting the situation only to
reveal the horrible truth once it was too late. When her husband died of... Show more content on

This is also where Pope Francis believes ethics should lie. He believes in justice for the poor and
that it is everyone s right to a healthy environment. Johnson shares this view and her fight
revolves around why this isn t occurring. No person should have to live in an area so toxic that it
harms them. Cancer is one of the most hated diseases that exist. We hold rallies and walks trying
to find a cure for it. Yet at the same time, we are just standing by and letting people live in toxic
places that spur it due to our inability to look past where health trumps cost. Legislators are
looking at these humans as a number, not seeing the people affected as humans with dreams and
families. They are ignoring the cries of the poor for the sake of economics. With this, it is easy
to see that the government s ethics lie in the realm of consequentialism. They see as helping the
people as an expenditure. This is where society has taken its wrong turn. We need to view
everyone has having importance. Jesus did not allow boundaries to be set, he believed everyone
was equal before God. Where did we go wrong, there are too many causes that I could not dream
of fitting into this assignment. Here s what I do know, there s hope of trying to fix this problem.
But, we cannot solely blame governments and businesses for inaction, if people are not standing up
for these causes, they are just as at fault as

Background
Who is the king of the movie rental industry? Is it Blockbuster, Redbox or Netflix? Blockbuster
was the king of VHS rental with their brick and mortar stores for more than 20 years. Netflix was
the first to market with the idea of shipping DVDs directly to consumer s homes but are now
focusing their resources and attention to online streaming. Netflix is slowly getting out of the DVD
and Blu ray rental game by raising the prices of their DVDs and Blu rays. Netflix is spending
more money to increase the size of their online library for streaming. The two companies that are
battling it out to be the king of the rental industry are Redbox, a company owned by Coinstar Inc.,

Other companies have used Disruptive Innovation to come in at the bottom of a market and focus
on a lower cost and change the way consumers purchase goods and services, changing the market
forever. One of the best examples of this type of Disruptive Innovation was Toyota. Toyota came
into the American market and offered inexpensive cars that offered very view features and small 4
cylinder engines. At first many consumers turned their nose up to the Toyota products. But some
consumers bought the Toyota because they were a cheaper option for automobile transportation.
When more customers started to purchase Toyotas and the company was able to establish a solid
footing in the American Business market and they started to change the model of their business.
Toyota started to offer higher end cars and eventually moved into the luxury automobile industry
with the Lexus line of cars. Disruptive innovation is a continual process and happens in business all
the time. You can also see it in the car market right now with Hyundai and Kia.
Redbox entered the market place at the bottom by offering DVDs that were not brand new
releases for $1 a day. The consumer can keep the movie longer if they want to by paying an
additional $1 per day. Redbox would offer unmatched distribution by

39. Problems In What s Eating Gilbert Grape
After watching What s Eating Gilbert Grape it s clear that Gilbert has a lot of problems and
things on his mind at all times. Most of Gilbert s problems come from his family. So this begs the
question, who or what exactly is eating Gilbert Grape?
To start, the least significant of Gilbert s problems was his sister Amy. At the start of the movie
Gilbert says Amy was their mother, since she made all of the meals and took care of the family.
Amy doesn t interfere with Gilbert during the movie.
Ellen was slightly more of problem than her sister. Towards the start of the movie we see Arnie

process. Also Gilbert tried to run her over after she gave him ... Show more content on

There are several reasons for this. One is that Gilbert is the only person who takes care of Arnie.
Another reason is Arnie s obsession of trying to climb the town s water tower. At the beginning
of the movie we see Arnie trying to climb the tower only getting half way up the ladder when
Gilbert gets him down. Also during Gilbert and Becky s talks Arnie runs off and successful
climbs the tower, which gets him arrested and taken to jail. Another example for Arine is the day
before his birthday, we see Amy making a cake which after running around the house Arnie
bumps into Amy thus making her drop the cake and making Gilbert go get a new cake from
FoodLand. When he leaves the store he is greeted by his boss from Lamson s Grocery who
doesn t like FoodLand. At home, Gilbert puts the new cake in the fridge and tells Arine not to eat
it. While blowing up balloons, Gilbert looks towards the kitchen where he sees Arine eating the
new cake. When his sisters see what Arine is doing, they start to give up on Arnie s birthday party.
Gilbert, who is now outraged, forces Arine upstairs to take a bath. After not cooperating Gilbert hits
him several times. Noticing he broke his policy, nobody touched Arine , Gilbert runs off into the

40. Compare And Contrast Romeo And Juliet Movie
There were many different aspects of each Romeo and Juliet movie that made all three versions
equally different, exciting, and heartbreaking. First off, in the Zeffirelli version, the producers did
a wonderful job of setting the movie to really reflects how Shakespeare wrote his play. For
example, the movie was set in Verona during the Elizabethan Era, and the clothing and way of
speaking to one another fully represented the old times. Also the casting for this movie was
excellent, Olivia Hussey(Juliet) was very cute and fit the role perfectly, as well as Leonard
Whiting (Romeo) who played his part very well. Lastly, the balcony scene was very sweet and
showed how much Romeo and Juliet loved each other after knowing the other for less than a day.
This movie was made so well that there is really no negative aspects to it. It is simply made and
beautiful, but the Elizabethan language is quite hard to understand, as it should be. Next, in the
movie starring Leonardo Dicaprio, the producers did an excellent job of making Claire Danes
(Juliet) look very young. She wore little makeup and had a flat chest, which represents what a
thirteen year old would probably look like back then. Also, the way they filmed the scene on
Romeo s death was incredible. The producers really showed how someone would react to
watching their loved one die. The only aspect that was a little confusing, was how the characters
used guns called swords instead of actually swords. But in keeping their

41. Balance Error Scoring System
Dizziness and/or imbalance are common symptoms for athletes sustaining a concussion [1 5]. It is
speculated that the acute symptoms of dizziness and/or imbalance experienced in these athletes is
not actually a peripheral vestibular dysfunction (i.e., inner ear), but rather a central disruption
between the vestibular system and the pathways for vision, known as a visual vestibular interaction
mismatch [6 8]. This mismatch can lead to decreased gaze stability with head movements and may
result in common symptom complaints of blurred vision or diplopia [9 10]. Athlete reported
symptoms are a large portion of the concussionassessment battery; however, it is well known that
athletes under report symptoms [11 12].
Thus, determining objective and accurate measures to help determine safe return to play on the
sideline and during the return to play progression protocol appears to be a necessary task for
health care professionals. Currently, balance function is most commonly assessed with a postural
control measure known as the Balance Error Scoring System (BESS), which indirectly assesses
vestibular sensory input. One limitation of this measure is the lack of information regarding the
functional use of the visual vestibular system, specifically the vestibulo ocular reflex (VOR). The
VOR allows for stable gaze during head movements [13 14] and is imperative to the athletes optimal

Okonkwo s characterization in the opening of the novel reveals that men gained their fame by
personal achievement which then leads them to be considered as a successful man. Okonkwo is
portrayed as a honorable and well respected man. He did not let his father s characterization affect
him. Fortunately, among these people a man was judged according to his worth and not according
to the worth of his father (achebe8). Evidently, this shows that his value of manliness is very
important to him, being a successful man is an important role to him. Weakness and femininity
were the two characteristics that are vile to him, he tends to call out men with no tiles or
accomplishment, women. Okonkwo does not value manliness just because he desires to, but
because it also plays an important role in his culture. The men in the Igbo culture are the head of

43. Geothermal Energy Is A Kind Of Energy
1. Introduction
Geothermal energy is a kind of energy that provided by the heat of our planet, the Earth. The cost
of geothermal energy is low, and it is reliable and friendly to the environment, but is limited to
some specific areas. Recent technology development has greatly expanded the range and size of
geothermal energy resources. Now the geothermal energy can be also used for applications such as
home heating, which add use potential for the resource. Although, tapping geothermal energy will
release some gas pollution which are originally trapped deep inside the earth, these emissions are
much lower than those of fossil fuels. Therefore, geothermal energy is a kind of potential energy
and may help to reduce emissions of greenhouse of the earth and of the pollution to the
environment.
California, with its location on the Pacific Ring of Fire, has great potential of geothermal energy,
which can easily meet the consumption of electricity for 100,000 residents. According to EIA [1],
the monthly average consumption per person is 557kWh, we can get,
Total Capacity = (557 Г—12 kWh/yearГ—100,000)/(365 Г—24 Г—0.92h/year) = 83 MW
Therefore, our geothermal power plant capacity is 83MW.

44. Review Of Dover Beach

Gorra
Arnold s Dover Beach
English 201
3/9/15
Doubt on Dover Beach:
An Exploration of the Loss of Faith in the Victorian Era The Victorian age is marked by the sudden
and startling changes it brought on the western world. As industrialization, intense colonization, and
expanding practices of sciences abounded, the traditional ideas and ideals that had once seemed
constant and true, were suddenly precarious. Matthew Arnold s Dover Beach has become
quintessential to the Victorian literary canon as it is exactly this struggle with a loss of constancy
and the confrontation with the unknown and uncertainty that Arnold evokes within its lines. Dover
Beach explores the potential effects of these sudden shifts in culture; particularly the shift towards
scientific exploration and the threat this shift had on notions of Christianity and faith. The poem
acts as a grand sweeping metaphor for the ideas of constancy and doubt as it lures the reader into a
sense of permanence and complacency before undermining that sense by contradicting itself and
implementing mistrust; ultimately it leaves the reader with a sense that since faith is not eternal,
nothing is. This metaphor is enhanced and nuanced through Arnold s interesting use of structure
and sudden shifts in tone. The first stanza of Dover Beach consists of fourteen lines in iambic meter
(though not iambic pentameter) with varying lengths and features a seemingly random rhyme
structure of:

Silence. That was all that could be heard as the crowd gazed at the podium in front of them,

Rolling Stones have arrived. Landing their first gig in 1963, the Rolling Stones have traveled far
in their career. They never realized that their first gig would be one of the many yet to come,
making them one of the most revered rock n roll bands in the musichistory decades to come. (
Charlie Watts Biography 1) They have been said to change the evolution of music, especially rock

Rolling Stoneshave a great impact in the 20th and 21st century.
A man once said that music is the heart and soul of a person. He was correct, because the Rolling
Stones put their heart and soul into their music. It was said that in the University of California
students taking musical courses learned about how the Stones changed music and its evolution
(Weiner 136). The Rolling Stones put much effort in making their music, revealing the darker
yet bolder side of rock and roll ( The Rolling Stones Biography 2). In a way, the music created by
the Stones had a topic of new realism, or a harsh reality. But they also wrote catchy tunes to party

46. The Totalitarian State Of Oceania, By George Orwell
Thomas Sowell argues, As long as human beings are imperfect there will always be arguments for
extending the power of government to deal with these imperfections. The only logical stopping

George Orwell s agreement to Sowell s statement, he produced a visionary novel, 1984, established
by a haunting setting of the near future; the story implies a politician fiction novel surrounding the
elements of a dystopian society. In the totalitarian state of Oceania, Winston Smith is a member of
the Outer Party, whom is determined to remain human under circumstances that Big Brother

meets Julia, whom begins their allegiance against the Party and fall in love in the process. Big
Brother exploits its citizens to the manipulation of children s minds, disconnection of
communication through telescreens, and terrorizing fear by room 101. Each tendency affects the

which demonstrates Orwell s concern for humankind s liberation against the cruelties and

Philip II and Elizabeth I are two of the most important figures during the 16th century. Philip had
an easier path to his reign because of his father and this gave him the power to enforce his will

difficult than Philips and it led her to develop stronger ambitions and values with her subjects.
Both figures were similar as they had passive aggressive attitudes towards their military strategies

This was because Elizabeth tried to shift the responsibility onto the signatories of the Bond of
Association, presumably on the grounds that they had declared their own right to carry out the
death sentence against any person found guilty. Elizabeth wanted to push aside her
responsibility for the death of Mary to someone else, so Spain would understand and maybe not
invade England. This showed that Elizabeth s strategies during her reign were passive, although,
she still proved to be a leader who would protect her country from the Spanish by assembling a
powerful naval fleet. Elizabeth showed leadership qualities to her people and they looked up to
her and that is why she was a wiser leader to her subjects than Philip. Philip showed passive
aggressiveness during the Spanish Armada preparation because he was indecisive with his
strategies. He would do his business at the San Lorenzo de Escorial in a secret office. Philip did
not want to pursue the war, but he felt that it was inevitable. He was not sure what strategies
would work. He would follow advice from fellow leaders, but he was indecisive on what land or
naval strategies to use. He knew that the English had a powerful naval base, so this made his

against the investment and early death risks. A single premium or recurrent premiums from
policyholders are invested into the different risk return portfolio decided by the policyholders.

Guaranteed Minimum Living Benefit (GMLB). There are three types of benefits in GMLB:
