The student conducted an experiment to determine if changing viscosity affects the time it takes for a marble to flow through different liquids. They hypothesized that the marble would flow faster through dish soap than corn syrup due to corn syrup having a thicker, more viscous consistency. They measured the time it took for marbles to pass through equal amounts of dish soap and corn syrup in graduated cylinders. As predicted, the marble flowed faster through dish soap, supporting the hypothesis that less viscous liquids allow for faster particle movement. The results demonstrated how viscosity is affected by particle size and attraction between particles.

In Odoo, making a field required can be done through both Python code and XML views. When you set the required attribute to True in Python code, it makes the field required across all views where it's used. Conversely, when you set the required attribute in XML views, it makes the field required only in the context of that particular view.

2. The Effects Of Exercise On Body s Physical Condition
Exercise has been proven to have a positive effect on our body s physical condition, but what
about our minds? Mental exercise, too, is influential on our bodies to decrease our stress levels.
Though, we know how important it is to do physical exercise and manage stress, yet still 42% of
adults say they are not doing enough to manage their stress mentally (http://www.apa.org/news
/press/releases/stress/2014/highlights.aspx ). Research has shown stress puts detrimental effects to
our bodies and well being. The simple motivation to exercise, especially under stress, can be
difficult, but the ignorance to not exercise, can ultimately cost you your life.
How does stress affect us?
Stress negatively affects our bodies in a variety ways. Stress is a response our bodies have to a
stimulant. When you watch a scary movie, the reaction to the startling moment is an act of stress.
Though, stress is a normal bodily response, and Americans expect to have a little stress in their
lives, according to APA (define). Though, too much stress is not good for the human body.
When stress is experienced, a hormone called cortisol is released in the body. Cortisol is a stress
hormone that has a great impact on physical and mental health. Researchers have studied cortisol
and found that cortisol is responsible for making our body s cells stay young . If stressed, cortisol
is used, therefore stressing the immune system, weakening/aging our cells

3. Birdsong and Journey s End
Compare the ways Sherriff presents the main character of Stanhope in Journey s End with Faulks
presentation of Stephen in Birdsong
Both Journey s End by R.C. Sherriff and Birdsong by Sebastian Faulks portray their main
characters of Stanhope and Stephen in several different ways. These include their ability as a
leader, the way that they are introduced, how they are affected by the war and their troubled
relationships with women. The contrast between the different forms of literature and the time
periods that they were both written in could also affect the overall presentation of the characters,
as Sherriff is relying on his own memories and Faulks is relying on accounts. This could alter how
the characters are perceived by the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faulks could have written him like this to show the transformation in the character between the
years, due to the loss of Isabelle and what he has seen during the war. These events may have left
Stephen unable to socialise with the men and prove himself as a key figure of authority.
Stanhope is visibly affected by the war, because he drinks, becomes angry with the men and
shows a detachment towards everyday life. This could show his cowardice towards war. He tells
Osborne that Whenever I look at anything nowadays I see right through it. This could be
showing Stanhope s general attitude towards war, as his years of experience could have shown
him exactly what the war was really like. By drinking to disguise his cowardice, Stanhope could
also be drowning out his true feelings. Sherriff could have written him like this to portray how a
soldier coped with the pressures of the war. This could show the audience the true reality of the
war, because he seems to show the deterioration of Stanhope throughout the short time period of
the play. In contrast to this, Stephen feels disgusted by the war, but he seems curious as to what
will happen. He tells Weir that I am deeply curious to see how much further it can be taken. This
could show Stephen s general interest in the war, even though he also seems to hate it. An
inquisitive nature is implied here, as Faulks could have written him to

4. Reflection Paper On Group Work
COMS2103 was a great experience for me. In the past, I have had very negative group experience.
This was from a lack of attendance by other group members, lack of communication, and simply a
lack of work ethic. I was hesitant before joining COMS2103 because of my past experiences, but I
am so glad I stuck with it. My groupwas very pleasant to work with and I felt less stressed than
before in other group settings. As this course comes to an end, I am pleased with how our group
worked together and I cannot wait to work with them again in COMS2105. With this being a
Community Studies course, it was assumed that there was going to be a lot of group work. Of
course, this turned out to be true. Like I have said above, I was really nervous to be thrown into
group work again. This time was different, though. On the first day of class, we spent some time
getting to know each other. It turned out that many of us were from the same area and focusing
on the same aspects in school. I even knew Patti and Sam from COMS1100, but there was still
some catching up to do. A few of our group members are from other parts of the province, and
even as far as Ontario. This fact was interesting during discussions as we had a few cultural
differences . Beginning any project with this group was never an issue. Somebody was always
ready to start the conversation and the rest of the group was always just as willing and comfortable
to contribute to the conversation. In our group contract, we had an

The (0 3) Los Angeles Lakers are back in downtown Los Angeles, at the Staples Center, to battle the
(1 2) Denver Nuggets. The Lakers are facing the unenviable task of changing the narrative and after
three straight losses, attempting to remove the stench that is emanating from their defense.
The Lakers are 21 8 against the Nuggets all time at the Staples Center, in the regular season, 4 6
in their last 10 games. The purple and gold lost the four game season series (1 3) to the Nuggets
last season. In 62 career games, Kobe Bryant is averaging 25.2 points versus the Nuggets.

Oh by the way, the 15 boards were defensive rebounds. In the process, Randle joined Vlade Divac
(2 24 95) and Lamar Odom (3 25 07) as the only Lakers to post such a stat line since the 1985 86
season and the second youngest player in the NBA to do so in the last 30 years as well.
The 20+ point/15 rebound game came in Randle s fourth career game, allowing him to join a short
list (Shaquille O Neal, Sharone Wright and Marc Gasol) of players to post that stat line, in their
fourth career game, in the last 20 years.
The Nuggets had an impressive 105 85 win in their season opener over the Houston Rockets and
then proceeded to drop their next two games. Denver went into Houston, shot 50.6 percent from the
field and an amazing 48.1 percent (13 of 27) from three point range.
Emmanuel Mudiay averaged 5.9 turnovers per game in the pre season and that trend has continued
in the regular season as the rookie point guard is averaging 6.3 turnovers. Mudiay had 11 of his 19
turnovers on opening night, but Mudiay also posted 17 points and nine assists while playing
aggressively and continuously attacking the

6. Airplane Monologue
I opened myself to the gentle indifference of the world. Finding it so much like myself so like a
brother, really. Camus words came to me as I stepped out the airplane and into the sky. It was on
an unplanned July day that my two best friends, Fiona and Matthew had decided to take me
skydiving for the first time. As I stepped onto the plane, Fiona gave me a smile. I was then left to
myself. I felt droplets of sweat drip down the side of my face, but I disregarded it, in hopes that it
was due to the density of the suit, unsuited for a hot summer day such as this. When I walked to
my seat and tried to settle myself, however, I realized the main problem wasn t the suit. Soon, the
engine roared, giving life to the airplane, and the ground started fleeing. From the side windows I
could see the outside landscape moving faster and faster, and finally, disappearing. Butterflies
started fluttering in my stomach, giving me a sense of nervousness different from anything I ve
ever experienced before. I realized then that this experience was more than a daring step into the

The others sitting around were making small talks. Each of them appeared calm, yet I could feel
they were tense. The slightly exaggerated titters, and uncertainty in their eyes gave them away. I
suppose it was the same with me, only that I hid my agitation with reticence. Shortly, my
consciousness faded and I delved deep into my mind, looking back at the back days, months,
and years, looking for any hints or events that may have led me here. I realized soon there was
not a single coherent or convincing explanation for this. Everything was as if I was guided by a
greater force than life itself, a force more primal and more ancient than reason or human aptitude.
All of a sudden, it seemed so awry. So

7. Workout Analysis
Practice the next few days were rough. I wanted to work extra hard so I wouldn t be
disappointed in my next performance. As a team, we worked out Monday and Tuesday and the
rest of the week all we did was stretch and warm up in preparation for the meet over the weekend. I
did a lot of extra lifting after practice and a lot of work to get more flexible in hopes that will
make me faster. My coach once told me before that being flexible increases your speed and
makes you more mobile. I would do these drills that you would hop over a hurdle and then go
under them stretching your hip flexor muscle. After these drills, I would use resistive bands to
stretch the muscles in my legs and in my hip. I would hope after all this extra work I would see a
big difference.
On Monday, we did a workout to increase our endurance. It was 3 by 400 meters at 60 pace with a
4 minute rest in between each one. This workout was hard because I didn t realize how difficult

I have to start eating good cause maybe that will help. Plus, there is nothing wrong with eating
healthy to begin with. It will only be good for me. I made my mom make me grilled chicken
every night. Depending on the night and what I was feeling like, I would have a plate of grilled
chicken with either salad, broccoli, sweet potatoes, or brussel sprouts. None of this stuff tasted
bad either so I didn t mind eating it a majority of the nights for dinner. I drank so much water
during the stage of my life too. I would have to use the bathroom so many times a day. Even in
class, every few minutes I would have to leave to use the bathroom. Some of my teachers would
yell at me for leaving the class room too much and even my dean yelled at me for carrying a gallon
of water with me throughout the halls. I would usually drink a gallon of water a day. I heard it was

8. Essay on Shakespeare Authorship Controversy
Shakespeare, the man who wrote 37 plays and more than a hundred sonnets, is known throughout
the world. Many people consider him one of the best English playwrights of our time, others say
that he was a genius. William Shakspere was born in Stratford upon Avon in 1564 and died in
1616 at the age of 52. In the mid 19th century, questions had arisen about the Shakespeare
authorship controversy, and many scholars wondered whether Shakspere, the man from Stratford,
wrote the plays. Ralph W. Emerson once said, ?I can not ?marry? Shakspere?s life to
Shakespeare?s work? (qtd. in Bethell 48). In many ways, he was right, some things just did not
link up. Many people started noticing this thus two opposing sides were formed. Those who

Others also say that there was little evidence left behind about his childhood and later his career
as a playwright and poet in London (Goode 9 10). Many scholars that studied Shakespeare?s
plays found evidence that whoever wrote the plays must have been the best educated man of his
time with knowledge on horsemanship, biology, falconry, astronomy, law, botany, several
languages like Italian, French, and Latin, and many other subjects that a common man without
much formal education would not poses (Lardner 7). Furthermore, experts say that whoever
wrote Shakespeare?s sonnets seemed to be high class. In addition, many of the plays included a
political element. How did Shakspere get extremely detailed information about Queen
Elizabeth?s court when the queen?s inner circle was guarded carefully (Valeo 2). Another
reason against Shakspere is that he would have to have been to Italy since many of his plays are

Introduction (100 words)
Write a brief paragraph introducing your 4 heroes.
(The text box will expand as you type more text into it.)
I chose the Greek heroes Atlanta and Daedalus to compare with two Modern day Superheroes
called Wonder Woman and Robin. Atlanta was seen as a hero because she was the only girl hunter
to stand equal to the best male hunters. Daedalus was a hero because he was the craftsman who
created the Labyrinth to keep the Minotaur captive. Wonder Woman was seen as a hero because
she was seen as having great leadership skills, Intelligence and Battle strategies. Robin was seen as
a hero because he was the sidekick for the DC Superhero called Batman and together they fought
crime.

Ancient Greeks needed Super Heroes because they represent hope, they are seen as higher models

things could influence any age group s.

accessible only by boat, home to Ashecliffe, a secure psychiatric facility with his newly assigned
partner Chuck, to search for a missing patient. As Teddy looks more into the disappearance of
the patient, strange things begin to happen all around him. After his partner s disappearance, he
then comes across a former doctor living in a cave on the side of the island, who tells Teddy that
the doctors are performing experimental surgery in the island s lighthouse. This causes Teddy
to take precarious measures to investigate the lighthouse. Upon reaching the lighthouse, Teddy is
met by the lead psychiatrist and his missing partner, and is told that this was an elaborate role
play, and that he suffered from mental illness following the death of his children and him
murdering his own wife. Teddy comes back to reality as Andrew Laeddis and decides he cannot

man, who had a wife and three children before they were murdered. Laeddis was formerly part of
the liberation of the Dachau concentration camp as a soldier in the United States military, then
became a U.S. Marshal after the war had ended. Edward Daniels is an anagram for Andrew

Also a lot of students get caught up in the partying which poses as a huge distraction to students.
There are constantly parties on big universities which draws the attention of the student off

17. Analysis Of The Poem Battle Royal
The primary method for judging the worth of a piece of literature is its organic unity or the
complex way all the elements of a test contribute to a story s meaning. The images, symbols, and
metaphors in Ellison s Battle Royal give this story a whole new meaning. In 1947, when this
short story was published, the black community was at an all time low. The main aspects of this
piece have ambiguous meanings behind them. The grandfather s death scene, the naked dancer,
the battle royal, the narrator s speech, and the narrator s dream all have significant symbolism.
The grandfather s death had a major impact on the narrator s life. As the grandfather passed away
he stated, Son, after I m gone I want you to keep up the good fight... Live with your head in the
lion s mouth... Let em swoller you till they vomit or bust wide open (Ellison, 1495). These
words seem to act as spiritual guidance for the narrator. Throughout the story the readers see the
narrator refer back to these words. The grandfather dies with a legacy that haunts blacks
regardless of social, political, and economic progress. The social, political, and economic system
is seen when the naked blonde s erotic dance is described. Overall, this scene represents America s
distorted value system. The symbolism made by flag tattoo on the dancer is actually a depiction of
the relentless pursuit of money, sex, and power. The men, in the room where the dancing took
place, were not considerate of the dancer s

18. Stargirl Character Analysis
There s a lot of people who are conforming and few people who are individual. Stargirl written by
Jerry Spinelli is the book that is about an individual girl and other conforming students. The main
character of this book is a girl who names Stargirl. She is a new student at the Mika high school
and she is known as a strange girl because she always wears weird outfits and she does not behave
as other students. Spinelli uses characterization and conflict of Stargirlto demonstrate that stay in an
individual is good for people who don t want to disturb by others and to force someone to conform
would disturb their life.
In Stargirl, Spinelli uses characterization of Stargirl to show people should stay individual if they
want to do whatever they want. In the beginning of this book, Spinelli describes Stargirl s
appearance such as clothes that she wears. Spinelli describes her clothes as: Several times in those
early weeks of September, she [showed] up in something outrageous. A 1920s flapperdress. An
Indian buckskin. A kimono (20). This description of her clothes shows that they are not
appropriate for school. Spinelli uses the word outrageous and the specific types of her clothes
such as kimono to describe how her clothes are weird. Here, Spinelli shows her individuality
because no one would wear traditional clothes for another country or dress to school unless there is
some kind of event. On the other hand, in the middle of this story, Spinelli starts to show her

25. Faulkner s Light in August
Light in August Hightower s Epiphany
Most criticism concerning Faulkner s novel, Light in August, usually considers the character of Joe
Christmas. Christmas certainly deserves the attention paid to him, but too often this attention
obscures other noteworthy elements of the complex novel. Often lost in the shuffle is another
character, the Reverend Gail Hightower, who deserves greater scrutiny. A closer examination of
Hightower reveals Faulkner s deep concern for the South and the collective suffering of its people.
Hightower, through his own personal epiphany, transcends the curse under which the South has

Which to me is the worst possible condition a man could find himself in not knowing what he is
and to know that he will never know. (FIU 72)
According to Faulkner, then, even Christmas does not know his heritage for sure, and that lack of
knowledge apparently condemns him to a racial limbo from which there is no escape.
Actually, Christmas is free to define himself as he sees fit. Even if he does possess Negro blood, it
is not enough to prevent him from passing as a white man, and most characters who know him
believe only that perhaps his father was a Mexican. Christmas passes as a white man by posing as a
black one. James Snead remarks, Joe Christmas hides his blackness behind the screen of a negro s
job : He pretends to slave like a negro so no one will think he is one (84). By accepting a menial
labor job at a planing mill and living in a shack, he plays the role of a white man playing the role of
a black man. Only when he confesses his suspicions do people see him as black: I think I got
some nigger blood in me. . . . I don t know. I believe I have (LIA 216). But this confession hardly
amounts to a definitive statement.
By failing to provide an ultimate answer to the question of Christmas blood, Faulkner achieves
what John L. Longley, Jr. considers to be one of [his] clearest strokes of genius (166). We all must

28. Modernism Versus Postmodernism
Modernism vs. Postmodernism
Post modernism follows and shares many of the same ideas as modernism. Though, at the same
time, they differ in many ways. These distinctions can be seen in the two works of literature, Death
of a Salesman by Arthur Miller and Glengarry Glen Ross by David Mamet. Death of a Salesman
represents the modernist literature. Modernism is a style of literature that came about after World
War I in Europe. It emerged in the United States in the late 1920s. Modernism was the response to
the commotion, which occurred during World War I. The narrator in the play is limited and

In the play, it is seen that money drives people to do crazy things and only leads to their downfall.
Postmodernism proves to embrace the low culture, where the idea of elite, power, and money is
not as important. Trying to make meaning becomes impossible and repressive and millions die
in desire to create a great collective. Postmodernism is more accepting in regards to chaos. The
idea of being okay in a world where there are no universal truths had become accepted. This can
be seen in the play, because no characters are represented as true. They are living in a false world.
This false world is made up of a false business with false leads and false people trying to sell
them. When Shelly steals the leads, he is not doing anything different, because the leads are non
existent, imaginary properties that he stole to steal the money of other people, so in reality he is
not stealing something of value and can relate to the rest of the characters. With this example, it is
also seen that sympathy flows around. Mamet allows reader s to like and relate to Shelley in some

Moral Philosophy is the rational study of the meaning and justification of moral claims. A moral
claim evaluates the rightness or wrongness of an action or a person s character . For example,

On a conscious level, a greater appreciation for philosophical subjects become the result of
exposure to such theories. During my research, I came across the article The Nature of Morality
and Moral Theories in which I discovered excerpts of philosophical theories and based on this
article, I will briefly mention significant points of four theories. First and foremost, is the theory
of Moral Subjectivism, which implies that an individual s thoughts and feelings determine moral
actions; as oppose to a set of moral principles. Following, is the theory Ethical Egoism, which
states that determining right and wrong is in accordance with one s self interest. Also, that it is
immoral to act contrary to one s own self interest. Thirdly, some individuals agree that culture
determines what actions are morally right or wrong; and are advocates of Cultural Relativism.
Their actions are not guided by a list of moral rules or universal norms. Next, Virtue Ethics claim
that right and wrong are characterized in terms of acting in accordance with the traditional virtues;
making a good person . ( The Nature Morality and Moral Theories ). These theories along with
numerous others, suggests various means for defining human behavior from an ethical

Sex and Dementia. Should People with Dementia Be Able To Consent To Having Sex With Their
Loved Ones?
A big controversy that people around the world argue is whether a person with a mental disability
such as, dementia, should continue to have sexual relationships with their lover. Dementia is ...a
chronic or persistent disorder of the mental processes caused by brain disease or injury and
marked by memory disorders, personality disorders, and impaired reasoning (Google search,
dementia definition). In my opinion, I don t think people with dementia should be having sex
because of the many consequences this can cause to a relationship or a person such as, the loss of
memory, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
That would be taking advantage of that person and will also be rape (Ina Jaffe, Can a person with
dementia consent to sex). On top of all that, the person just, gets away with it with no problems at
all and nothing to stop that freak since the person with dementia had no signs of resistance or
anything... Another thing, I don t think institutions where it is allowed/encouraged to have sex
should be allowed. What if that person has a loved one(s) at home that STILL HAVE A
RELATIONSHIP GOING!?!? I understand that intimacy with a person when someone has
Dementia can help with the mental disorder, but I just don t think that it seems fair to his/her son
/daughter(s) or husband/wife at home who wait all day and night to hear or worries from that
person(Dr. Pepper Schwartz, What are our rights when we re not ourselves any more?). I
understand how some people may think that humans with Dementia should be able to consent to
having sex, but think of it as if, a person is using another person because of their disability. An
example of this: So Tom (Husband)and Jackie(Wife who has dementia) live in the same house,
right next to them lives Jerry who just moved in and looks like Tom. Tom went out of town for
the week and trusted Jerry to take care of her, so Jerry goes check up on her and Jackie forgets
that her husband is gone for the week. Knowing that she had that mental disorder, Jerry took
advantage of her and got away with it without a trace... (A more simple metaphor/A more
simpler example) A boy who starves for sweets sees this girl and she has candy that the boy likes.
They hang out together for a bit until she runs out of candy to give to the boy, then he sees a girl
with chocolate chip cookies, so

The United States Senate should ratify the United Nation s human rights treaty, The Convention on
the Rights of the Child (CRC). The CRC is the most widely ratified human rights treaty with over
193 states parties ratifying it (unicef.org). The CRC was adopted by the UN General Assembly on
November 20th, 1989 and promotes the rights of children worldwide (childrightscampaign.org).
The treaty recognizes that children have certain unalienable rights. These rights are to develop

Protecting State Sovereignty The concern of the US government being undermined by a UN
committee should be nonexistent. The United States Supreme Court s decision in 1957 ruled that no
international law could override the country s Constitution (oyez.org). After the case, Reid v Court,
Supreme Court Justice Hugo Black stated The United States is entirely a creature of the
Constitution. Its power and authority have no other source...When the Government reaches out to
punish a citizen who is abroad, the shield which the Bill of Rights and other parts of the
Constitution provide to protect his life and liberty should not be stripped away just because he
happens to be in another land.
This decision results in the CRC not having any overriding power to the rights given and protected
by the Constitution. The United States executive branch also gave its signature of approval and
support of the CRC in 1995 (Bova 174). In sum, the United States government would still be in
complete control of its laws and citizens. Although, states that have ratified the treaty are required

been doing so since 2003 when it ratified the two aforementioned explicit protocols of the CRC.

32. Birth Defects Discrimination
The stigma and discrimination of living with severe birth defects
Birth defects are health problems that occurs when a baby is developing in uterus (in the womb)
of an individual (Healthline Editorial Team, 2017). This defect may be caused by genetic
disorders, problems with chromosomes, or environmental factors; disorders such as mandibulo
facial dysostosis, cleft palate and spina bifida. The lives of people with severe birth defects
conditions are often contributed by stigma as well as discrimination. Stigma is a major cause of
discrimination which leads to rejections, being scorned and gossip at; isolated socially, bullied;
and even labelled. The book, Palacio, R.J Wonder, 2012 demonstrated the story of a boy named
August or Auggie Pullman, a ten year old boy living in Manhattan who was born with severe
birth defects (mandibulo facial dysostosis and a cleft palate) which left him severely disfigured.
It was difficult for him to make friends. He lives with his parents, his older sister Via; and his dog
Daisy. August was homeschooled up until the fifth grade but his parents decided it was time for
him attend a real school. They enrolled him in Beecher Prep, a neighborhood private school. There
August (Auggie) was faced with many obstacles during the school year because of his appearance.
He dealt with many stigma and discrimination from both students and parents.

interface design is aimed to develop products that can be used by all people in different

Flexibility in use Universal interface design should accommodate preferences and abilities of wide
range of individuals. Tolerance for error The design should have measures and controls that can
help minimize hazards and the adverse consequences that can be caused by accidental actions.
Additionally, the design should have a mechanism for communicating the status, as well as the next
steps where applicable, in order to reduce frustration for the users (Stephanidis, 2013). How Section

present their information in a manner that makes it possible for the disabled users to have access

The Artist, Hans Rudi Giger and The Birth Machine
HR GIGER
The Swiss surrealist, Hans Rudi Giger is one of the few artists worldwide who does not and doesn t
to sign his works of art. He is considered the modern day master of the macabre and his works are
recognisable at first glance.
The motifs of birth, death and sex are the predominant subjects of Giger s art. From the beginning
of his career, powerful elements, seemingly inspired by repressed memories of a traumatic birth,
appeared from his talented hand. He willingly acknowledges that themes of birth trauma appear in
his works.
By 1966 he had begun producing a series of shaft pictures which had their primary origins in
dreams. Bottomless shafts, undoubtedly representative of the birth canal, surrounded by a series of
steep banister less stairways the embodying fear and danger predominated these pictures. Other
works produced at that time had birth allusions, and included underground cities as well as buried
bio mechanoids. These humanoid beings combined features of humans with mechanical equipment.
38. Continuing the birth trauma passage theme in his art, Giger later became engrossed with
passages. These pictures were the result of a series of dreams. He writes, in these I usually found

Just what is it...? (1956), was created by Richard Hamilton, who was one of the founders of the

produced; young (aimed at youth); witty; sexy; gimmicky; glamorous; and last but not least, Big
Business. (History of Collage by Eddie Wolfram, p. 159) Pop art embraced everyday art from

To meet the first element favorable termination a plaintiffcannot rely on a settlement of the case that

The judgment entered by the trial court on the motion to dismiss was reversed because a

To have an action for malicious prosecution, our client must prove that a favorable termination has

contest is a favorable termination. In the Frey case it is stated that when a termination or dismissal
indicates in some fashion that the accused is innocent of wrongdoing it is a favorable termination.
Also a termination without a trial on the merits may be a favorable termination of litigation if the
circumstances indicate the innocence or freedom from liability of the defendant. In a case where
there is no adjunction on the merits the existence of favorable termination of the prior proceeding,
you must look at the facts to determine what actually occurred and whom the termination

43. Pros And Cons Of Fordism
Fordism a good idea or a bad one?
The purpose of this paper is to state that Fordism was not a stable production system, even though it
achieved great success when it was first applied by Henry Ford. The Fordism production method
will be critically assessed on the segregation it built between workforce and management and how it
established a dominant American industry. The study will also define the concept of Fordism and
how it influenced the motor vehicle industry, in which this production model was first implemented.
By the beginning of the 20th century technology had become advanced enough to introduce the
motor vehicle. Despite this, for many years the automobile remained an expensive luxury item
created by craftsmen. It was something only the wealthy could afford. That was until Henry Ford, a
son of the Scientific Movement of Management, developed a new line of thought. He wanted to
make cars available to the masses by changing the production process in a way that would reduce
costs, so more people could afford the product. Ford introduced a new approach to production,
which included standardization, specialization and the usage of the assembly line and the conveyor
belt system (Smith, 2011). His business model was so successful that it sparked a revolution in the
entire industry. Even today, a century later, the world is still greatly influenced by Fordism.
Authors variously interpret the term Fordism . According to Knights and Willmott (2007: 385)

44. Representation Of Helen In Euripides Women Of Troy
The representation of Helen in Homer s work and with how she is depicted in Euripides Women of
Troy enables the reader to understand different perspectives of Helen s personality seen throughout
both texts. Furthermore, these comparative methods in both texts will raise questions and
awareness to the depiction of Helen. In this essay, I will explore the perspective of how Euripides
displays a harsher judgement of Helen than in Homer s text.
Firstly, Helen was one of the most inspired characters in The Iliad. Helen was depicted as
powerless, beautiful and an object. After Paris taking Helen home, she realizes that Paris is not
able to realize the consequences of her disobedience. Homer allows the reader to understand that
Helen s decisions are made for her. For instance, Aphrodite s involvement in the duel on Helen s
behalf triggered Helen s thoughts on blaming the g ds for the war. By blaming Aphrodite, Helen
shows her disrespect for the g ds. However, Helen does not have a choice when she faces her
decisions. For example, Aphrodite s ordered her to return to the bedroom and make love with
Paris. Helen rebelled and later on, Aphrodite enraged told her to not provoke [her]... or in [her]
immortal rage [she] may just toss [her] over, hate [her] as [she] adores [her] with a vengeance
(Iliad, 3. 480 482). Secondly, Homer enables the reader to understand that Helen s guilt and terrible
beauty is cursed and he is not depicting her harshly. In addition, the g ds did not allow

All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque is a wonderful tale that
expresses the theme of comradeship, dehumanizing effects of war, and the futility of war. All 296
pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the brutality of war. This anti war book
opens your eyes to situations you ve never thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has
never been documented before. All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches
you many valuable things.
Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the greatest ones was
the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and his buddies formed a bond with
each other that could not be broken. This is clear when Paul states that they are the strongest, most
comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this
line, Paul expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought process
encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That during his hardest times,
his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was going through an internal battle, his
comrades talked to him and helped him work it out. For example, when Paul finally lets his
frustrations out to his friends he listens to them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence.
(Remarque, 228) The theme of comradeship is being able to forge connections with other soldiers.

In the first lines of her poem she describes how a pilgrim reaches his goal. She references the
pilgrim as a symbol of determination and perseverance to be followed, especially when hoping
to attain a dream. Being a pilgrim herself, and living in a Puritan society, her audience was able
to relate to her plight and feelings about the journeys that are taken throughout one s life. In this
poem, Bradstreet uses her skills to compare the voyage to America from England to the journey
a religious person is to take to Heaven from Earth. Now that the journey of the pilgrim has
ended, he no longer has to endure the hardships of the trip to his destination, his dangers past,
and travails done. However, in order to reach his destination the pilgrim has made sacrifices, like
leaving things behind. Otherwise he wouldn t have been able to accomplish his feat, and
therefore, to All cares and fears he bids farewell . Later one Bradstreet contemplates how the
pilgrim has been successful in his achievement, and how she herself wanted to be part of such
journey. Bradstreet sees herself in the image of the pilgrim, renouncing to the world in her way to
Heaven. She feels tempted, but obeys the will of God. Bradstreet reminds others that while it is
not easy to live a sinless life, the reward at the end is worth all the effort. She understands the
difficulties of her plan, and longs to be at rest and soar on high among the blest. Although the
journey is lengthy and arduous, Bradstreet realizes that there are still many years before she
achieves her goal, years in which she will have to continue following the Commandments and
struggling against the society she has been born in. Still, she continues her journey, weary, but
hoping for rest, until the day she completes her voyage to eternal life in

always left my grandparents home with two things: my grandmother s rosy lipstick mark on my
forehead and a bag of sweets in my hands.
Around the holidays, my family s visits to my grandparent s home became more frequent as did
my grandmother s baking. On December afternoons, I would skip up the driveway in my bright
red ballet flats as my curly pigtails bounced, run up the front porch stairs, and burst through the
door. Around this time of the year, I knew to go straight to the kitchen, where I could almost
always find my grandmother standing over a glass mixing bowl full of ingredients for her next
creation.
I can remember running up to her and eagerly tugging on her apron to get her attention. No matter
how into her baking she was, my grandmother would always turn around straight away and hug me.

52. The Temple Of Artemis At Ephesus
The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus: World Wonder The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, also known
as the Artemision, was once a remarkable sight that was considered to be one of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World. The temple itself was a rather mysterious as not much is known
about the rituals that may have taken place there. It is known that the Ephesian held Artemis is the
highest honor. It was believed by some that Artemis herself was born at the location of the temple
(Iosa, pg. 3). The temple had many motifs dedicated to this believe, it can be considered the
Nativity Temple of Artemis( The Earlier Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, pg. 16). The people of
Ephesus also worshiped Artemis over all other gods and goddesses (Iosa, pg. 7).... Show more

8). Wood applied for a grant from the British Museumto excavate the site after discovering it
while helping to build a railroad between Izmir and Denilzi (Jenkins, pg. 51). While excavating
the great theatre in May of 1966, Wood found an inscription describing silver figures that were
dedicated to the goddess Artemis. The inscription also mentioned a procession that would carry
these objects to the temple on the goddess s birthday. Using this Wood realized that if he found
the gates, the Magnesian Gate and the Coressian Gate, described in the passage he could find the
location of the Temple of Artemis. He found the Magnesian Gate by the end of 1967 followed
later by the Coressian (Jenkins, pg. 52). The temple itself was finally found by the end of 1869.
Wood later published an account of the excavation, including what he thought what the temple may
have looked like. In 1904, the site was revisited D. G. Hogarth and A. E. Henderson. They
researched the temple s earlier history and determined that the site had three incarnations (Jenkins,
pg. 53). The Artemision was built in the early Ionic style of Greek architecture, as can be seen from
the columns. The columns were unusual as they had capitals that had large rosettes on them instead
of the normal volutes. The modern restorations of the capitals give them petals, but it is debated on
the accuracy of this

There s four kinds of folks in the world there s the ordinary kind like us and the neighbors there s
kind like the Cunninghams out in the woods the kind like the Ewells down at the dump and the
negroes ( Lee 23) This is how Jem sees socioeconomic in Maycon from rich to poor the Ewells
are second to last since they live near the dump which is very different from the people like the
Finch who are on the top and the Cunninghams are in the middle. In a small town like Maycomb
Alabama where socioeconomic inequality was highly present, since this story takes place in the
1930 s the years of the Great Depressionwhere people were unemployed, lost there homes and had
lack of food, People form Maycomb would treat the people who were affected by this... Show more

From adults to children people from Maycomb judge them because of this here are some
example from the book that shows that. Firstly when Scout asked aunt Alexandra if she could
invite her friend Walter Cunningham jr to play she said no and when Scout asked why she
replied by saying Because he is trash that s why you can t play with him. I ll not have you
around him picking up his habits and learning lord knows what (Lee 23) Alexandra judges
Walter because she looks down on people who are not as rich as her, she and many other people
from Maycomb believe that they shouldn t be involved with people who are below them on the
economic ladder. Secondly it was not just adults who were judging the Cunninghams children
would do it also one example of this would be Scout she said this to Calpurnia when she says that
he s company. He ain t company Cal he s just a Cunningham ( Lee 3 ) Scout says this because
Walter Jr was eating strange, Scout does not think Walther is consider company since he is low
class, Scout and other children from Maycomb are raised to look down on people who are not as
rich as them therefore she doesn t know any better. Finally here is another quote from aunt
Alexandra that demonstrates inequality of socioeconomic The thing is you can scrub Walter
Cunningham till his shoes shines you can put him in shoes and a new suit but he ll never be like Jen
