Transformational Leaders And Its Impact On School Schools
Public school districts in Illinois are facing ever rising challenges from a lack of funding, a shortage of
teachers, an ever increasing danger of traumatic events occurring on school grounds, a decline teacher
moral, an increase in at risk students, and others. During this difficult time it is imperative that the
leaders of districts are providing their stakeholders the leadership necessary to move the district
forward in educating all of its students. Transformational leaders are best suited to deal with the
multiple and diverse challenges that face districts.
Transformational leadership was first introduced into our lexicon by James MacGregor Burns, a
presidential biographer. Burns believed transformational leaders were leaders who ... Show more

3. Inspirational Motivation represents the leader s ability to inspire their follower through articulating
their vision. Followers are challenged with accountability through high standards while motiving the
followers through providing meaning to the difficult tasks they are charged with. This provides
meaning and creates a sense of urgency which leads follower to commit deeply to the task at hand.
4. Idealized Influence represents the leader s ability to be a role model for ethical behavior. Through
the leaders ethical decision they build trust and respect with their followers.
These comments applied to transformational superintendents can be express in many ways. Below you
will find a general application of the components for the school leaders.
Transformational leaders begin with the development of a vision for their district that provides a view
of the future that will excite and convert potential followers.
Transformational leader must find a system that allows the district and stakeholders to move forward.
This often involves embracing change and challenging the status qou. It is important to note that

Modern Day American Political Warfare Examples
Political Warfare Blame, it s a commonly used word used to explain why many of our expectations go
wrong in communities, but the most common group of people oftenly blamed for causing troubles is
politicians. Blaming politicians for a majority of problems often leads to a divided opinion, some may
believe their problems were solved thanks to the politician while others blame politicians for making
their problems worse. Eventually the conflict between opinions leads to violence among a community.
Although both political parties attempt to make their opinion appear as the superior opinion by using
violence and discrimination, it solves absolutely nothing for their cause. The modern day United
States society is an example of political warfare

Connecticut Case Study
Located in New England, Connecticut is a small state with a July 1, 2016 estimated population of
3,576,452 (United States Census Bureau, 2017a). Home to companies, such as Pratt Whitney,
Sikorski, and Electric Boat, Connecticut is a leader in both the aerospace and submarine engineering
fields. The capital of Connecticut, Hartford, has offices for many insurance companies, such as
Travelers, Aetna, and the Hartford. The National Center for Education Statistics (2017), describes the
adjusted cohort graduation rate for public high school students in 2014 15 was 83% nationwide.
Connecticut outperforms the national average at 87% (National Center for Education Statistics, 2017).

For 2015 16, 41.8% of 7th graders and 40.3% of 8th graders met or exceeded the benchmark (edsight
citation, 2017). An additional factor of academic success is the chronic absenteeism rate in school.
According to edsight.ct.gov, Connecticut s online data retrieval website, the statewide chronic
absenteeism percentage was 9.6% for 2015 16. Chronic absenteeism, defined in Connecticut Public
Act No. 15 225 , is when a student misses ten percent or greater of the total number of days enrolled in
the school year for any reason. Additionally, in the 2015 16 reporting, students identified as requiring
special education services had a chronic absenteeism sate of 18.1% compared to 8.3% of non special
education students. Grade level breakdown indicates that the percentage of students chronically absent
increased from 8.4% in 7th grade to 12.9% in 9th grade and a staggering 17.8% in 12th grade

Police Officers And Law Enforcement
Despite some police officers might use authority to frighten and approach others in any way they like,
there is still a great amount of officers that do live up to the standard to serve and protect others.
Police officers are often needed to reinstate order and regain the compliance from very hostile
situations. Police officers are sometimes required to use force that is not considered excessive or the
possibility of being accused or seen as brutality.
We can see that the media focuses greatly on these issues of appropriate extents of force and deadly
force that is used by law enforcement. Society has always been observing law enforcement through
the lens of a microscope and focusing on the negative light that has been shedding over ... Show more

The relationship with the community, groups with special interests, and also politics may play a great
portion in the configuration of these changes. Several centuries ago, common law was divided into
three special classifications: felony, treason, and misdemeanor. In those times felonies were
punishable by death. During the seventeenth century, when a police officer was conducting an arrest,
they were regulated to exercising deadly force as a last resort (Littlejohn, 1984). During the nineteenth
century, the same rule was still being enforced. The last resort rule began to diminish towards the end
of the nineteenth century. Currently police officers have other tools available that allows them to resort
to under different circumstances. Even though there are many different police departments and
different agencies, they are all pretty much guided under the same rules regarding deadly force and it s
use.
Annually, data concerning law enforcement is collected in a Uniform Crime Report, but it does not
gather information on recent acts a police officer can do (Burghart, 2014). Limited intelligence is
exposed about police violence. There are many real life situations that we have observed on the news
and in the media. The law demands that the federal government must accumulate data on police
shootings, but there is no obligation that a police department has to do so (Fisher, 2014). The

Wayne Williams Case Study
In a 22 month span, starting in July 1979, 30 African American children and young men were
murdered or disappeared in Atlanta, Georgia (Nickell 1 of 2). Due to the various motives that each
murder presented, it was believed that multiple individuals were responsible for these crimes.
However only 1 person was ultimately charged with these homicides. The person that was found
responsible for 2 of the many murders is Wayne Williams. He was suspected and subsequently
arrested after police heard a splash in the water under a bridge on May 22, 1981, and Williams was the
only one on the bridge during the time frame of the body drop (Plummer 1 of 3). This case was

The largest piece of evidence against Williams was numerous similar fibers connected to the victims
and Williams s environment (Deadman 2 of 14). The various fiber evidence in this case was deemed
essential and the strongest scientific link in this case (Nickell 2 of 2). There were over 28 fiber types
involved in this case that linked to Williams, and of these 28, 14 were from a rug or carpet (Deadman
13 of 14). These fibers were associated with a bedroom carpet in Wayne Williams home, his
bedspread, a yellow blanket found under that bed, a leather jacket hanging in Wayne s closet, a gray
glove in his station wagon... (Plummer 2 of 3). Dog hairs, which were traced to Williams s German
Shepard Sheba, were also found; as well as scalp hairs that linked Williams to one of the victims,
Patrick Baltazar. The scalp hairs were 98% similar to Wayne Williams, and the DNA sequence of the
dog hairs could only be found in 1 out of 100 dogs. The combination of the hair, and fibers at the same
location strengthened the case against Williams. A multitude of yellow green nylon fibers and some
violet acetate fibers were located on the bodies and clothing of the victims (Deadman 2 of 14). Fibers

Flint Water Crisis
No Water for Flint In 2014, Flint, Michigan chose to switch their water supply from Lake Huron to the
Flint River. During this change, the city did not add any products to the water to stop it from getting
polluted. Because there were no products added to the water, the water became extremely
contaminated. There was literally no water in Flint that was in drinking condition. Towards the end of
the Fall of 2015, Flint s water crisis went global. After Flint s water crisis became worldwide, there
were many donations coming from various people all around the world. Celebrities and
actors/actresses were even donating thousands of bottles of water. Rapper Meek Mill donated 50,000
bottles of water to Flint, Michigan in January of 2016. Following that, a radio station called Z107.9
donated 10,000 pallets of water. It didn t stop there. President Obama made sure that the
Administration provided $80 million to help support Flint also.
When the contamination in Flint s water system was noticed, it was because of the smell, taste, and
color. (The Humanist 23) The water pipes were deteriorating because of the polluted water, which was
causing lead to flow into the water. People immediately started complaining to their city s mayor
about the changes in the water. Soon after that, scientists from Virginia Tech discovered it was severe
lead in the water. Lead poison is known to destroy or affect almost every organ or system in someone
s body. (The Humanist 23)

Spanish In Texas
Spanish is a huge part of the Texan culture, so when I found out I had to take a foreign language class
in high school I figured Spanish would be the best. I have never even vacationed outside the state of
Texas, which leaves me with a lot of Texas culture. However, I still was missing Spanish in both ways;
knowing the language and the influence in Texas.
I now have that part of Texan culture in my life. It s been helpful in history, communicating with other
people that don t speak very fluent English, and understanding what a Texan is. In school there are
even other students who ask for my help. When I teach them it reminds me of the struggle I went
through to be able to understand the Spanish language.
My teacher was a good teacher at heart, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He was also the teacher s best student because he had the highest grade and wasn t scared to answer a
question. I can t remember ever getting one wrong.
I eventually let him know that I had a serious problem with learning Spanish from our teacher and if I
didn t get I was going to fail. My biggest problems were the eighteen different conjugations we had to
use and how to structure a sentence. There are four present tense, four past tense, three futures, four
conditionals, one simple, and three preterite tenses. He first taught me how to use all of the
conjugations because without those I could never learn how to structure a sentence appropriately.
Once he taught me how to structure a sentence I never felt so confident in my ability to speak Spanish.
The final eventually came along and I was nervous but not as nervous as I was before. I walked out of
Spanish 1 with an 80 which was far better than my 55 that I started my year with. Though I was there
to learn Spanish; I walked out realizing that it isn t always the student that s at fault for not
understanding a subject. The teacher plays a huge part in making sure the student will understand.
With my teacher; I had a communication barrier that prevented me from understanding what she was
talking about. So whenever a kid looks up to me for help I either do my best to explain it to them or
refer them to someone

at least email or call them back and let them know you ve received their message and you ll contact
them about it as soon as possible. Even if you re not able to solve a problem right away, let the
customer know you re working on it. 3. Be Friendly and Approachable A fellow Site Pointer once told
me that you can hear a smile through the phone. This is very true. It s very important to be friendly,
courteous and to make your clients feel like you re their friend and you re there to help them out.
There will be times when you want to beat your clients over the head repeatedly with a blunt object it
happens to all of us. It s vital that you keep a clear head, respond to your clients wishes as best you
can, and at all times remain polite and courteous. 4. Have a Clearly Defined Customer Service Policy
This may not be too important when you re just starting out, but a clearly defined customer service
policy is going to save you a lot of time and effort in the long run. If a customer has a problem, what
should they do? If the first option doesn t work, then what? Should they contact different people for
billing and technical enquiries? If they re not satisfied with any aspect of your customer service, who
should they tell? There s nothing more annoying for a client than being passed from person to person,

Viability Of The Business Concept
Viability of The Business Concept
The business concept Kayi Davie and Abdallah Bawazir proposed after conducting research was to
create a campsite using the plot of land Bawazir had inherited from his family and start a hospitality
business that would be cheap to operate. They would target the international budget tourists
commonly referred to as backpackers since it is a low cost form of international travel. Backpackers
would rely on public transportation and inexpensive accommodations to reduce costs. The two
entrepreneurs had seen how successful this type of tourism had become in neighboring countries and
desired to replicate this business in Rwanda.
First of all to start their business, they already have a good starting point. ... Show more content on

Some decisions that Kayi and Abdallah had made is to invest $15,000 to build the necessary utilities
and building for the campsite and $4,000 to cover working capital requirements during the first 18
months.
Breaking Even
If the partners were to charge $12 per night per bed as well as have a profit margin of 30% for food,
50% on beverages and 50% on hygiene products, and 100% on Internet, they would make a profit of
$20.91 on each customer per night (see Exhibit 1) after getting taxed 18%. With a profit of $20.91, to
break even from their initial investment of $15,000 for the tents, generator, construction,
furniture/bedding, modems, wiring, landscaping, fridge/BBQ/TV, and their working capital of $4,000
for the first 18 months, they would need at least 909 campers (Exhibit 1) to break even, assuming
every camper stayed for 1 night.
Marketing Options Davie and Bawazir are faced with many options to choose from to attract a steady
flow of customers. The first set of marketing possibilities the entrepreneurs can choose from is local
partnerships around Rwanda. They can collaborate together with businesses that actively promote
Rwanda s backpacking culture and distribute brochures and posters at these locations in exchange for
advertising space at the campsite for $50 per month. With this

Critical Analysis of Alex de Tocqueville s Democracy in...
Irena Cosby
Analysis of Alexis de Tocqueville s Democracy in America Alexis de Tocqueville s visit to the United
States in 1831 prompted his work Democracy in America. This was supposed to be a chance for him
to take a look at the American prison system. However, it was obvious from his writing that he looked
at every aspect of American culture. In Democracy in America, he takes a look at how democracy
works and the pitfalls that could bring about the downfall of democracy. Throughout his travels he
noticed that private interest and personal gain motivated the actions of most Americans. He believed
this cultivated a new concept, the concept of individualism. He believed this individualism was one of
the greatest threats to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He also looked at the industrialization of America and how it fit into this new concept. He noticed that
employees of factories learned how to do one thing. While they may perfect that one skill, they began
to lose creativity and imagination. They also lost the desire to move up in society. They became
comfortable and content with their task, and every day became just like the one before it. Owners of
factories, on the other hand, held all the power. They could get richer or even lose their wealth.
However, it didn t matter how many different people were in management positions, they all had two
things in common...power and wealth. De Tocqueville believed this would create a large population of
people who relied on the few creative thinkers left to take care of them. While there was an equality of
the masses, there was still a much smaller group of people that held all the power. Given that despots
have every interest in keeping people isolated, the individualism resulting from equality makes
despotism a great threat to equality. Exercising freedom through participation in public affairs is
therefore extremely vital because it gives people a personal interest in thinking about others in society.
Local self governments are important because they draw people together, and it is, therefore, more
likely that they will exercise their liberty. De Tocqueville believed that when

Cyberbullying Affects The Welfare Of Victims
Cyber Bullying There over thousands of cases where a child ended up taking their life because that
child fell victim to cyberbullying. As a nation we see cyberbullying everywhere it is publicized on the

welfare of the victim, cyber bullying is a constant, and we are better than this. The welfare of the
victim is clearly affected. Cyberbullying has raised suicide ratings to an unnatural high. It gives the

Why Is Catcher In The Rye Banned
The reasons to challenge these books are varied. The most common reason to challenge or ban a book
is because of its sexual content. The Catcher in the Rye is one such book that has been challenged
constantly because of its sexual content. It was challenged in Goffstown, New Hampshire school in
1994 because of its sexual exploits. It was removed and then later reinstated at Windsor Forest High
School in Savannah, Georgia (2000) when in 1999, a parent complained about the sex and violence in
the book. It was also removed in Summerville, South Carolina because a school board member said it
was a filthy, filthy book.
Another reason books are challenged are because of their racial themes. To Kill a Mockingbird has
been a controversial book due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a democracy, one is promised the freedom of speech, and any censorship of speech or literature
goes against that. Even as school boards and parents take to the court to ban books from school
libraries, in most cases, books and materials are not allowed to be censored. However, it has been
noted that there are books that might be too dangerous to be in print. One such example of this that has
been highly controversial through the years is the book, The Anarchist Cookbook that was published
in 1971 by William Powell in response to the Vietnam war. In the book, Powell details instructions to
manufacture explosives, illegal drugs and more sinister objects. The purpose of the book is obviously
to harm people and disrupt society. The book was published freely until 1991, and then most recently
again published in 2012, and it has been documented to be the source for many different attacks. In
1976, the book was supposed to have inspired Croatian Nationalists to hijack a plane and plant
explosive devices at Grand Central Station. It was also linked to the Oklahoma bombing and the
Columbine high school shooting. Even as recently as 2013, Karl Pierson, a high shooter in Colorado is
said to have been reading the book. Many users have posted updated versions of the book on the
internet as well. In light of such evidence, one must reexamine the idea of censorship more closely.

¨UNI has knocked off the #1 North Carolina Tar Heels!¨ Gary Rima

I have been a UNI men s basketball fan for a long time, and I had been waiting forever for this
basketball game to happen. It was the UNI Panthers vs North Carolina Tar Heels game. The reason
Northern Iowa scheduled this matchup was because North Carolina point guard Marcus Paige was
supposed to play, but he suffered from a broken bone injury in his hand so he couldn t play. Marcus
Paige played for Linn Mar High School with his teammate, Matt Bohannon, who is UNI Panther
player. ¨So anything could happen, right? I asked my dad, ¨Dad, do you think UNI is going to knock

¨This win would get sports coverage on Sportscenter and all over the sports world!¨
¨I know and this is a great recognition for the great town of Cedar Falls, Iowa,¨ said Dad.

We wanted to see if any North Carolina players came out after the game and they did. Marcus Paige

I think Romeo and Juliet and the tomb are based on truth. The story of Romeo and Juliet is much older
than when Shakespeare wrote the story we know today as Romeo and Juliet, it was not a coincidence
that Romeo and Juliet and the tomb go together, and the tomb was made for the Capulets. Since
Shakespeare did not write the story of Romeo and Juliet, the story could be much older. Since the
story could be much older the tomb could be much older. No one knows the date of the tomb that was

Cufee Industry Analysis
Chemistry Assessment Task 2
Identify the metal ore from which copper is extracted.
Copper is extracted from chalcopyrite ore, its chemical formula is CuFeS2. Chalcopyrite is a brass
yellow mineral with a chemical composition of CuFeS2. Most sulfide mineral deposits in Australia
contain chalcopyrite ore and has been the most valued ore of copper for thousands of years.
Describe the mining and extraction process of commercial copper ore deposits
Copper can be extracted from the chalcopyrite ore by:
1. Traditional mining
2. Leaching.
Traditional mining involves the sinking of a vertical shaft into the Earth to an appropriate depth. Then
the shafts are driven into horizontal tunnels into the chalcopyrite ore. There is an open pit, as seen in

To meet the growing demand for copper in Australia, mining is necessary but there is still a huge
supply of recycled copper, as it plays a vital part in the conservation of the supply of chalcopyrite ore,
which reduces energy consumption, decreases waste disposal, and conserves the environment. It is
estimated that such recycling supplies 50% of copper used in the Australian copper industry. In 2010,
it was reported that 770,000 metric tons of copper were recycled, at an estimated value of nearly six
billion Australian dollars. First, the copper has to be reduced to a reusable form through baling. This
form differs depending on the use of the copper. When the copper has gone through a process reducing
it to a reusable form for industry, the final process is to transport the recycled copper to a smelter
where it goes through melting, and is eventually smoothed into flat sheets for new industry

Dynamic Duo V. Dynamic Partners Case
Primarily, I would recommend that Dynamic Duo seek legal advice and contact an attorney to advise
them of the situation at hand. All the more, I would highly recommend that Dynamic Duo consult with
an attorney who regularly practices OSHA law regarding their rights and defenses when an OSHA
citation has been received. Therefore, by implementing a lawyer that regularly practices OSHA law
would help counsel and contest or challenge proposed citations and penalties. Furthermore,
experienced OSHA lawyers understand the detailed regulations and OSHA s practices and can often
negotiate lower penalties and much better abatement terms for the employer. I would also immediately

Identity and Belonging
Being perceived as different may make it difficult to belong. Not being able to belong is a confusing
and unfortunate case, where one can find themselves lost and frustrated, as they do not have a safe

from feeling a sense of belonging. Whether it be a persons inability to adapt or their lack of
confidence. As we progress through life we discover that our differences make it harder for us to

Charles Mingus Influence
Charles Mingus arrived in the jazz scene during a state of flux and his impact changed the way the
jazz was performed and composed from ever since. Mingus s strict sense of jazz traditionalism and his
willingness to experiment with his music led to the creation of many subgenres in jazz music. His
outspoken political views were also very influential subsequent generations of musicians and
composers . The music Mingus made is very tightly connected to the story of his life. After examining
both his music and life in greater detail, it becomes apparent how and why Charles has gone on to
become one of the most important jazz composers since the birth of jazz in the twentieth century.

In 1941, Mingus played in several bands including the Alvino Rey Orchestra and Barney Bigard s
band (Santoro, pg.57). This would lead to Mingus taking the oppurunity to play with Louis Armstrong
in 1942 when Armstrong s broke up during the filming of Cabin in the Sky (Santoro, 2001, pg. 57).
This would lead to Mingus recording with Armstrong in 1943, which would lead to him recording
with Russell Jacquet and Howard McGhee in 1945 (Santoro, pg. 57, 2001). Later that year, he would
record his first record as a bandleader for the Excelsior label as a sextet (Santoro, pg. 57, 2001). Along
with the eleven songs he recorded with Russell Jacquet that year, he started to accumulate a reputation
in the jazz scene which would lead to him joining the Lionel Hampton band in 1947 (Santoro, 2001,
pg. 75). During his time with the Lionel Hampton band, they recorded Mingus Fingers which was one
of the first Mingus solos that brought him some recognition (Santoro, pg. 75, 2001). The solo featured
the use of melodic lines in his bass playing and deft double stops that helped the song become a hit in
the Los Angeles area (Santoro, pg. 76, 2001). He would join the Red Norvo Trio, where his star would
continue to rise (Martin and Waters, pg. 249, 2012). He left the band after he was excluded from a

Contemporary Psychodynamic Authors
Contemporary psychodynamic authors define defenses as unconscious mental processes that function
to defend against extreme anxiety (e.g. Valliant, 1994). Moreover, defenses are observed as being both
protectors against unconscious feelings and relational and cognitive behaviours that protect the self
(Cooper, 1998). Currently there is no consensus as to the number of defenses that exist however, in
The Ego and the mechanisms of Defense Ana Freud (1936/1986) discusses ten. However,
subsequently there has expansion of recognised defences (Kramer 2013). Although, authors vary on
the number of defenses that are present, there is a largely an agreement on the role of defenses. The
function of these defense mechanisms is to modify internal psychological conditions such as emotions
and thoughts by changing the meaning or implication of perceived threats (Kramer 2013). Defenses
are utilised differently in borderline personality and comparable disorders and therefore necessitate
accurate identification for therapeutic appropriate intervention (Cooper, 1998).
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a severe and dominant psychiatric condition featuring
affective instability, marked impulsivity, and substantial deficits in the ability to work and sustain
meaningful relationships (Hadjipavlou and Ogrodniczuk 2010). In addition, BPD individuals suffer
with deep fear of abandonment, identity conflicts and paranoid ideations (Hadjipavlou and
Ogrodniczuk 2010). Further, BPD individuals

Skin Microbial Exposure
4 3. Environmental factors
Significant variations in the prevalence between world regions suggest that environmental factors,
such as climate, diet, obesity, smoking rates, and microbial exposure could influence the development
of AD.
4 3 1. Microbial exposure
Recent studies highlighted the impact of skin microbiota on AD because microbiota has been revealed
to be involved both in the homeostasis and pathogenic conditions of the skin (Naik et al., 2012). In AD
patients, temporal dybiosis dominated by Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) during disease flares was
reported (Kong et al., 2012; LEYDEN, MARPLES, KLIGMAN, 1974). The skin commensal S.

are soap and other detergents. Washing the skin with a soap causes elevation of skin pH,

Topic 4: Why?
This leads me to my last question, why is America so consumed in this concept of reality TV?
One reason is because it s an escape from reality. Over the summer, my family had busy schedules and
everyone was running 20 different directions at a time. However, come 8pm Monday, my mom, sister

One of the most appalling environmental catastrophes in Canada is right within the Greater Toronto
Area, The Randle Reef, located in the Hamilton Harbour.
Randle Reef, is considered the direst of identified water pollution issues within Canada, but has
recently begun remediation of the site. The Randle Reef contains a massive amount of toxic coal tar,
which has been building up for decades, but is scheduled to be contained shortly.
In the early 1800 s, then known as Burlington Bay, Hamilton Harbour was an important access point

which has begun and will hopefully undo the previous generations of damage. Phase one is building a

walled barricade surrounding contaminated sediment. Phase two involves of dredging the polluted
deposits from the adjacent areas and placing them within the enclosure. The final phase of the project
encompasses removing the water from the suppression area and placing a waterproof cap on the
facility, which is anticipated to have a 200 year life span, to seal in the chemicals.
Upon completion, the container will be paved and then turned over to the Hamilton Port Authority,
who will then own the facility and be accountable for monitoring, preserving and evolving the site as
port facilities.
This project is expected to be completed by 2022, with an estimated cost of approximately $139

Egoism In Ayn Rand s Anthem
In Ayn Rand s book Anthem, The character Equality 7 2521 also known as Prometheus ran into the
uncharted forest after being told that his box of light was a sin to create because he now knew more
than his brother s in the uncharted forest he found out that the golden one had followed him. Then the

as a whole they were not allowed to think of themselves. So was Prometheus really a egoist? Or was it
just his little bit of selfish coming out after not ever being allowed to think about himself?
The sacred word is Ego. no one is allowed to speak this word in this dystopian society that Ayn Rand
creates in the book Anthem. When Equality was young he saw a man being burned at the steak for
discovering the unspeakable word from the unmentionable times. He said that the man being burned
was not screaming out in pain or asking for it to stop but rather he was smiling at Equality. Equality
said that it was like the man was trying to mouth the unspeakable word to Equality. The way that Ayn
Rand had Equality describe the man it seemed that he was different then the rest of the people that

Why Is Nuclear Power Bad
Nuclear power: good or bad? Nuclear energy to create power has been used for hundreds of years.
Today nuclear energy powers almost 11% of the world. It produces nearly no greenhouse gases or co2
emissions. But it does leave behind nuclear waste that stays radioactive for decades. Nuclear energy
has been used for many years, but there are goods and bads to Nuclear power from nuclear energy.
Nuclear Energy has a long history of Grief. Since 1942, Nuclear Energy has grown and spread
worldwide. The history of Nuclear Energy begins in 1942 when enrico Fermi created the first nuclear
reactor, the Chicago Pile 1. Enrico left Italy to escape new Italian racial laws. He created this reactor
by fission. Which is also used as the fuel to the atomic bomb, which came 3 years after at the trinity

Fission can be controlled easier, that is why it is used the most. fission occurs by splitting an atom,
instead of putting two molecules by force at high speeds, and changing the atomic number of the
molecule. Fusion needs some requirements to occur, it needs high pressure and high temperature, and
at extreme levels to combine the Molecule. If this is tried, and is done wrong, the damage could be
devastating and even nuclear. This is a good source of power and has been used for many years.
Usually when they malfunction they are treated and nothing bad happens, but if not treated, it could
cause a nuclear meltdown, like what happened at 3 mile island on March 28th, 1979, and that s not
good.
Nuclear Energy has many supporters around the world. The benefit of Nuclear Energy are clear to
many. People who are for Nuclear Energy, support it for many reasons. The outcome of produced
power can be changed, all you do is change the fuel entering the chain reactor (Page 11). One main
factor that puts nuclear energy on top is it lets out little air pollutants, greenhouse gases, smog, slows
global warming, and helps limit acid rain (Sally

Analysis Of The Prince By Niccolo Machiavelli
Mankind has never answered this age old question: Is man inherently good? There are different
arguments for both sides, however most would agree that humans should strive to be good.
Interestingly, Niccolo Machiavelli in his work The Prince would disagree. Written for the Medici
lords, The Prince offers advice on how to obtain and rule a principality. To do this, he must first
explain the nature of man and adjust the method of ruling them accordingly. Machiavelli believes
humans by nature are corrupt, so the Prince must also be corrupt to succeed. In order to prove
Machiavelli s opinion, it is first necessary to understand what he defines as success. Machiavelli

Therefore, success for Machiavelli is sustaining power over a principality. Next it must be proved that
Machiavelli believes men by nature are cruel and corrupt. When talking about the necessity of cruelty
in leaders, he says, a man who wants to make a profession of good in all regards must come to ruin
among so many who are not good (p.61). Here he seems to believe that the general populace is not
good. He does not allude to any choices that would cause this cruelty, so we can infer that he believes
humans by nature are corrupt. He discourses on qualities that are praised in a prince such as faith,
humanity, and honesty but laments that he cannot have them, nor wholly observe them, since human
conditions do not permit it (p.62). These human conditions that Machiavelli refers to must be the
corruption of man, as there is no other reason for a prince to not observe these qualities. If men were
good, it would be obvious for a prince to rule with good virtues, but since they are not he must adjust
his morals to fit his people s. In addition to this, he teaches the prince to use one of two kinds of
combat when it comes to ruling the people: one with beasts and one with man. Having never
mentioned ruling animals before, the reader can conclude that he is referring to men who are wicked
by nature. He explains that one must use laws with man and force with

A Neutral America in the War in the Film Casablanca
In the film, Casablanca , it showed us that America was neutral in the war as Rick said, I stick my
neck out for nobody. Rick is portrayed as America, although he seemed as if he was neutral he started
to show that he was caving in for the underdog, just as America did when we started to get involved in
the War. During the film when the Germans come into Rick s café, Rick shows that he is aware of
what is going on in the War, just as we Americans knew about all the concentration camps. Also, when
someone offered to buy Sam s contract from Rick, Rick said I don t buy or sell human beings.
Casablanca shows that America is aware of what is going on and that we are above all of it.
Casablanca would be considered propaganda because when people wanted to flee the country they
were in they wanted to go to America. The people who wanted to flee to America thought of America
as the safe country. Casablanca portrayed America to be as the to go to country, the safest place to be
during the War. Everyone tried getting their passports to go to America, they bought all of their
passports from the black market just to try and get to America. The people wanted a better life and to
be accepted, also they would be safe from the Germans.

happening during the war people wanted to go to America. Out of the countries they could have fled to

the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional
dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good

Peter Pan Reflection
Altering Tink Sam Taylor (CEO), once said, If we aren t willing to change and keep up with
innovation someone else will. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas, there
will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their lives
would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic differences in
their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in different experiences
to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future. In J.M. Barrie s Peter
Pan, the character Tinker Bell is dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To
start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from
the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not
very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy (Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is
shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she
creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn
t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern
for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words,
her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker
Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance,
when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time
for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and
drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison
knowing it could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Tinker Bell shows a caring and
selfless side through an action that could kill her, but her love for Peter was so strong, she had no
choice. This makes her a protagonist. All in all, she was Peter s hero that night, and this explains how

The Effect Of Breastfeeding On Ovarian And Breast Cancer...
Introduction
Since some years, there has been fundamental shift in infant nutrition research due to increasing
evidence that the role of early nutrition during this vital period of life has deep biological effects and
has an important consequence both in long and short term health (Fewtrell 2007).
The research that has been done in this area offers strong evidence that human milk feeding decreases
the severity and incidence of a vast range of infectious diseases (Garner 1997). There are many
benefits of breastfeeding reduces the ovarian and breast cancer risks and a reduction in other types of
systemic health such as obesity, overweight, asthma and morbidity. In this way breastfeeding also
becomes one of the main causes of benefits for the mothers (Horta 2013).
In their report, WHO also recommends the exclusive breastfeeding until the infant is six months old.
They further, recommend that the children should consume breastfeeding complemented with food
intake until they are two years old (Horta 2013).
Formula fed vs. Breastfed
The evidence that is present regarding the infant feeding as a risk factor for dental caries in
inconsistent in many ways. The risk regarding dental caries is closely related to carbohydrate content
in breast milk besides the factors that decide the length of contact between the erupted dentition and
the breast milk (Danielsson 2009).

Identity Loss In Forgetfulness, AndOnce More To The Lake
Authors often create texts that share common themes to teach readers importance of certain aspects
and hardships of life. Theme may be expressed through an author s use of rhetorical devices and many
other contributing factors such as figurative language and repetition. The essay, Once More to the
Lake written by E.B. White and the poem Forgetfulness written by Billy Collins, both contain a theme
of identity loss. In Once More to the Lake E.B White connects to a lake at young age and when
returning with his son years later is unable to identify himself. In similar theme Forgetfulness
describes different factors of human life and everyday things being forgotten and lost. Both White and
Collins use repetition and metaphors to further push the theme of identity loss throughout the texts.
First and foremost, authors E.B. White and Billy Collins both use exceptional repetition to portray the
themes of their writings Once More to the Lake and Forgetfulness . In the essay Once More to the
Lake, the main character expressed his connection to the lake from a young age. Later in life he brings
his son and begins to be at a loss for his identity while being at the lake. Similar in theme, the poem
Forgetfulness is a tale describing the loss of parts of one s life that used to be known, much like
identity loss. Repetition is a major key in both texts for pushing the theme of identity loss. During
Once More to the Lake, E.B White experienced many moments that

Benefits of Medical Abbreviations There are many benefits of medical abbreviations. One benefit of
medical abbreviations is how much easier it makes it to read a chart. This speeds up the process by

Jane is allergic? Why was a blood culture not collected? If Jane was not able to sleep in her room

Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home
We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention to
another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home.
A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, That in 1988, the last
year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children under
the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death a figure that doesn t even begin to include those families
where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental impairment and
imprisonment (NY Times).
No matter the many reasons a child can be motherless, the effects can be life changing. Beth Azar with
the American Psychological Association says that, Children without mothers in the household can
have damaging effect including but not limited to insecurities, angst, doubt and hesitance about the
world around them. Insecure attachments can negatively impact children psychologically and socially
throughout all stages of development and into adulthood (www.refrence.com social science and
psychology).
What exactly are some of the repercussions of child in a motherless home? A motherless child can be
less likely to develop bonds with other people than the fatherless child. The child can have increased
anxiety. Children who come from a motherless home can feel deserted and mourn the loss of their
mom or the unknown, and are at a higher risk of isolation with kids who

Advantages And Disadvantages Of 4g Communication
INTRODUCTION :
Wireless communication is the transfer of information over a distance without the use of enhanced
electrical conductors or wires . The distances involved may be short (a few meters as in television
remote control) or long (thousands or millions of kilometers for radio communications). When the
context is clear, the term is often shortened to wireless . It encompasses various types of fixed, mobile,
and portable two way radios, cellular telephones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs), and wireless
networking. 1895, Guglielmo Marconi opened the way for modern wireless communications by
transmitting the three dot Morse code for the letter S over a distance of three kilometers using
electromagnetic waves.

Examples Of Integrative Awareness
The stage that most accurately describes me will be integrative awareness. Integrative awareness has
developed a secure, confident sense of racial/cultural identity (Sue , 2001). The reason why this
cultural identity describes me is because I do commit to supporting and appreciating all oppressed and
diverse groups which also wraps around integrative awareness too. The reason why is because I like to
treat people equal and I like being fair to everyone because that s how I was raised. I m very open to
all types of different t cultures diverse groups because we are all people at the end of the day.
Integrative awareness also wraps around being multicultural and for me it doesn t matter what race,
cultural, and religion you are because I don t

Bob Marley and Reggae Essay
Bob Marley and Reggae
Bob Marley was a Jamaican singer, guitarist and songwriter who achieved international stardom.
What are the origins of Reggae?
The origins of Reggae start with African music as the people of Jamaica are descendants of the
African slaves who were brought to the island. African music is based around rhythm patterns, and
rhythm and beat are the most important features of Reggae. Also there is the influence of other
Caribbean music such as Calypso and the associated instruments such as steel drums which can be
heard on Bob Marley songs such as One Love.
When did Reggae begin?
Reggae developed in the 1960s, and later in 1968 Bob Marley took the Ska music of ... Show more

Mento was the first of the reggae styles. By the late 1960s, influences from United States rhythm and
blues, Jamaican folk rhythm, and dub were synthesized into the rock steady and poppa top styles, and
Marley emerged as a rising talent in this new genre of Jamaican music.
How was Bob Marley Associated with religion and black politics?
In 1967 he converted from Christianity to Rastafarianism, a religion that has had a profound influence
on reggae music. The Rastafarian movement of this period, among other beliefs, recognized Haile
Selassie I, king of Ethiopia, as the living God; praised the spiritual effects of marijuana; and endorsed
black racial superiority. Influenced by the Rastafarian movement, Marley s music contains elements of
spiritualism and mysticism. Some songs call for personal freedom through revolution, while others
embrace carefree attitudes toward life or convey stories of love. Marley and the Wailers recorded
Catch a Fire (1972), Burnin (1973), Natty Dread (1975), and Live (1975), among other albums.
During the 1970s, amid great political and economic turmoil in Jamaica, Marley cultivated a rebel
image. An increasingly political figure, he survived a 1976 assassination attempt at his home in
Jamaica. He subsequently went to Europe and experienced a new

How Does Substrate Concentration Affect The Rate Of Enzymes
Enzymes are globular proteins that act as catalysts which affect the rate of chemical reaction without
being destroyed or altered during the process. They are very effective in the body systems of
organisms, an enzyme that catalyzes more than one thousand chemical reactions per second. But there
are certain conditions that enzymes can work normally or efficiently, such as the temperature of the
environment must be correct for each enzyme because different enzymes will have different optimum
temperature ranges in which they can live; pH levels in the environment must also be correct because
if the environment around the enzyme is too basic or acidic, the enzyme will quickly denature;
substrate concentration also affects the rate of reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enzymes are organic catalysts and can speed up chemical reactions. Two molecules of hydrogen
peroxide are broken down into two molecules of water and a molecule of oxygen gas. Both water and
oxygen are harmless to cells and therefore, the presence of catalase allows cells to break down the
toxic substance hydrogen peroxide before cells become poisoned.
The mechanism is that the enzyme bind to the substrate at the active site. The combination is called
the enzyme/substrate complex. Enzymes only work with specific molecules. The active site is a
specially shaped area of the enzyme that fits around the substrate. Catalysis is when the substrate is
changed. It can be broken down or combined with another molecule to make a new one by breaking or
building bonds. Then the enzyme/product complex is produced. When the enzyme is released, it goes
back to its original shape and repeats the process.
The enzyme in plants or human body is the most active at room temperature, because it has to achieve
the highest efficiency. Therefore, when conditions change, such as increasing or decreasing the
temperature of the reaction, the enzyme activity will be inhibited and less efficient. This can lead to
the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, which is not efficient, and can be toxic in organs.

Juvenile Incarceration System
Many young children are now being influenced by individuals that can physically and mentally harm
their well being. There are too many young children being seen through the incarceration systems
solely because of the environment that they are raised in. In a study done by Elizbeth Barnert, With 2
million youth arrested annually in the United States and 60,000 detained, justice involved youth
represent a large, high risk, vulnerable population largely hidden from public view (Barnet). This goes
to show that the youth is not being taken care of responsibly or are not being placed into the right
environment. Juvenile incarceration is detrimental to their physical and mental health, these children
have been influenced in the past as well as incarceration ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Many of these individuals that are being seen in the systems are coming from broken homes or have
seen family members go through the system. In the case study that is written by Marian Wright
Edelman titled The Cradle to Prison Pipeline , states hardened by long terms of incarceration, released
criminalization youngsters return to communities that are ill equipped to reintegrate them positively
(Edelman). Within this case study Edelman creates the vision that one may picture which is that once
a child is released they are immediately vulnerable to return to the environment that they are more
comfortable to them. This proves why the rates for incarcerated youth are so high and that there needs
to be alternatives set for these

A History of New York City Skyscrapers (with Bibliography)...
A History of New York City Skyscrapers Whenever anyone thinks of New York City one of the first
things that come to mind is the tall extravagant skyscrapers located in this city. Since the late
nineteenth century New York has been home to some of the tallest skyscrapers in the world. For many
tourists that come to New York City, the first thing they want to see is the skyscrapers of Manhattan.
One of the first skyscrapers built in New York City was the World Building, which many people know
as the Pulitzer Building. Joseph Pulitzer was the original owner of this building; he was publisher of
the famous magazine the New York World. Pulitzer is a great example of how diverse this city is,
because he was the owner of the World Building ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The S. Paul Building stood at 315 feet tall. The architect and engineer for this building was George B.
Post, the same man who put up the World Building. This building was located on Broadway, and Ann
Street. This building was eventually demolished in 1958. Many critics called the St. Paul Building the
least attractive design of all the New York skyscrapers. Just one year after the St. Paul Building was
opened; the Park Row building was opened on Ann Street and Park Row. The construction of this
building started in 1896, and this building took only three years to complete. In the 1890 s advances in
steel frame construction opened up new opportunities for developers. Before steel frame construction,
buildings with more than eight stories had to have very thick lower floors for support. We have to
accredit the steel construction of this building to R.H. Robertson. Mr. Robertson said that when he was
drawing up the plans for this building he wanted to make it look smaller what it actually was. This
building is 391 feet tall and it was the tallest building in New York City in 1899, before the Park Row
Building was put up the Manhattan Life Insurance Building held the title for the tallest building. This
building has 26 floors, and a semi circle bay of 10 elevators. In 1899 about four thousand people
worked in the Park Row Building. The Park Row Building is still standing today. The Park Row
Building is located at 15 Park Row, across the street from City Hall.

Corruption In Canterbury Tales Essay
Bryson Miller
Ms. Morris
English 12 3rd
5 December 2016
Upper Class of Canterbury Tales
Some ill hearted people use corruption to achieve the highest place in society. Even in the 1600 s
Shakespeare writes about how corruption can shape a society. Corruption can cause an unbalance of
power in the wrong places. Geoffrey Chaucer writes about certain classes in the fourteenth century.
Chaucer uses the upper class in Canterbury Tales to show the importance of corruption through the
following characters: The Friar, the Pardoner, and the Summoner.
The Friar is a sneaky and evil beggar that associates with the upper class, which makes him part of the
corruption. He also enjoyed befriending comely young women and wealthy men, (Morgan) as he
made an art out of stealing people s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Summoner was known for knowing everything about everyone which really played to his
advantage. He could bring duress on any young fellow in the diocese. (114) The Summoner s job was
to summon people to the church for committing sins. Since he knew everything about everyone he
would accept bribes from people to revoke their summons. The Summoner has no hint of a personality
beyond [his] life of predatory malfeasance. (Salter) He devotes his life to corruptly earning money and
becoming as wealthy as he can. Making his way to the upper class, the Summoner destroys the church
system by using his power to help his finances. The Friar s, Pardoner s, and Summoner s power and
position in Canterbury Tales helps them corrupt their way to the top of the class. Each of these
characters have a common motive: wealth. Money seems to drive people to do things most people
would not do. The upper class of any society is usually the people with the most money. In order for
these characters to be in the upper class they had to use their power and position to their advantage.
This is how corrupt societies

This film highlights the importance of distinguishing among the various dementias that can occur with
aging. Mild cognitive impairment (MCI) is an intermediate stage between the expected cognitive
decline of normal aging and the more serious decline of dementia. It can involve problems with
memory, language, thinking and judgment that are greater than normal age related changes. If you
have mild cognitive impairment, you may be aware that your memory or mental function has slipped.
Your family and close friends also may notice a change. But generally these changes aren t severe
enough to interfere with your day to day life and usual activities. some people with mild cognitive
impairment never get worse, and a few eventually get better. According to a mayo clinic studies show
that approximately 15% of individuals aged 70 90 have mild cognitive impairment. They really try to
remember something but they really can t. You lose your train of thought when in a conversation it
happens over the time of aging. Most of these patients have sleeping problems, memory loss. This
mild cognitive impairment goes into Alzheimer s. They came to the conclusion that they can treat
these people with medication which would help a little but the medication doesn t kill the disease it
doesn t stop the production. But scientist is testing new ways of treating Alzheimer s which they

Modern Day American Political Warfare Examples Political Warfare Blame, it s a commonly used word used to explain why many of our expectations go wrong in communities, but the most common group of people oftenly blamed for causing troubles is politicians. Blaming politicians for a majority of problems often leads to a divided opinion, some may believe their problems were solved thanks to the politician while others blame politicians for making their problems worse. Eventually the conflict between opinions leads to violence among a community. Although both political parties attempt to make their opinion appear as the superior opinion by using violence and discrimination, it solves absolutely nothing for their cause. Police Officers And Law Enforcement Despite some police officers might use authority to frighten and approach others in any way they like, there is still a great amount of officers that do live up to the standard to serve and protect others. Police officers are often needed to reinstate order and regain the compliance from very hostile situations. Police officers are sometimes required to use force that is not considered excessive or the possibility of being accused or seen as brutality. The relationship with the community, groups with special interests, and also politics may play a great portion in the configuration of these changes. Several centuries ago, common law was divided into three special classifications: felony, treason, and misdemeanor. In those times felonies were punishable by death. During the seventeenth century, when a police officer was conducting an arrest, they were regulated to exercising deadly force as a last resort (Littlejohn, 1984). During the nineteenth century, the same rule was still being enforced. The last resort rule began to diminish towards the end of the nineteenth century. Currently police officers have other tools available that allows them to resort to under different circumstances. Even though there are many different police departments and different agencies, they are all pretty much guided under the same rules regarding deadly force and it s use. Annually, data concerning law enforcement is collected in a Uniform Crime Report, but it does not gather information on recent acts a police officer can do (Burghart, 2014). Limited intelligence is exposed about police violence. There are many real life situations that we have observed on the news and in the media. The law demands that the federal government must accumulate data on police shootings, but there is no obligation that a police department has to do so (Fisher, 2014). The ... Due to the various motives that each murder presented, it was believed that multiple individuals were responsible for these crimes. However only 1 person was ultimately charged with these homicides. The person that was found responsible for 2 of the many murders is Wayne Williams. He was suspected and subsequently arrested after police heard a splash in the water under a bridge on May 22, 1981, and Williams was the only one on the bridge during the time frame of the body drop (Plummer 1 of 3). There were over 28 fiber types involved in this case that linked to Williams, and of these 28, 14 were from a rug or carpet (Deadman 13 of 14). These fibers were associated with a bedroom carpet in Wayne Williams home, his bedspread, a yellow blanket found under that bed, a leather jacket hanging in Wayne s closet, a gray glove in his station wagon... There was literally no water in Flint that was in drinking condition. Towards the end of the Fall of 2015, Flint s water crisis went global. After Flint s water crisis became worldwide, there were many donations coming from various people all around the world. Celebrities and actors/actresses were even donating thousands of bottles of water. Rapper Meek Mill donated 50,000 bottles of water to Flint, Michigan in January of 2016. Following that, a radio station called Z107.9 donated 10,000 pallets of water. It didn t stop there. President Obama made sure that the Administration provided $80 million to help support Flint also. When the contamination in Flint s water system was noticed, it was because of the smell, taste, and color. Marketing Options Davie and Bawazir are faced with many options to choose from to attract a steady flow of customers. The first set of marketing possibilities the entrepreneurs can choose from is local partnerships around Rwanda. They can collaborate together with businesses that actively promote Rwanda s backpacking culture and distribute brochures and posters at these locations in exchange for advertising space at the campsite for $50 per month. Irena Cosby Analysis of Alexis de Tocqueville s Democracy in America Alexis de Tocqueville s visit to the United States in 1831 prompted his work Democracy in America. This was supposed to be a chance for him to take a look at the American prison system. However, it was obvious from his writing that he looked at every aspect of American culture. In Democracy in America, he takes a look at how democracy works and the pitfalls that could bring about the downfall of democracy. Throughout his travels he noticed that private interest and personal gain motivated the actions of most Americans. He believed this cultivated a new concept, the concept of individualism. He believed this individualism was one of the greatest threats to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also looked at the industrialization of America and how it fit into this new concept. He noticed that employees of factories learned how to do one thing. While they may perfect that one skill, they began to lose creativity and imagination. They also lost the desire to move up in society. They became comfortable and content with their task, and every day became just like the one before it. Owners of factories, on the other hand, held all the power. They could get richer or even lose their wealth. However, it didn t matter how many different people were in management positions, they all had two things in common...power and wealth. De Tocqueville believed this would create a large population of people who relied on the few creative thinkers left to take care of them. While there was an equality of the masses, there was still a much smaller group of people that held all the power. Given that despots have every interest in keeping people isolated, the individualism resulting from equality makes despotism a great threat to equality. Exercising freedom through participation in public affairs is therefore extremely vital because it gives people a personal interest in thinking about others in society. Local self governments are important because they draw people together, and it is, therefore, more likely that they will exercise their liberty. De Tocqueville believed that when ... The Catcher in the Rye is one such book that has been challenged constantly because of its sexual content. It was challenged in Goffstown, New Hampshire school in 1994 because of its sexual exploits. It was removed and then later reinstated at Windsor Forest High School in Savannah, Georgia (2000) when in 1999, a parent complained about the sex and violence in the book. In a democracy, one is promised the freedom of speech, and any censorship of speech or literature goes against that. Even as school boards and parents take to the court to ban books from school libraries, in most cases, books and materials are not allowed to be censored. However, it has been noted that there are books that might be too dangerous to be in print. One such example of this that has been highly controversial through the years is the book, The Anarchist Cookbook that was published in 1971 by William Powell in response to the Vietnam war. In the book, Powell details instructions to manufacture explosives, illegal drugs and more sinister objects. The purpose of the book is obviously to harm people and disrupt society. The book was published freely until 1991, and then most recently again published in 2012, and it has been documented to be the source for many different attacks. In 1976, the book was supposed to have inspired Croatian Nationalists to hijack a plane and plant explosive devices at Grand Central Station. It was also linked to the Oklahoma bombing and the Columbine high school shooting. Even as recently as 2013, Karl Pierson, a high shooter in Colorado is said to have been reading the book. • 22. Contemporary Psychodynamic Authors Contemporary psychodynamic authors define defenses as unconscious mental processes that function to defend against extreme anxiety (e.g. Valliant, 1994). Moreover, defenses are observed as being both protectors against unconscious feelings and relational and cognitive behaviours that protect the self (Cooper, 1998). Currently there is no consensus as to the number of defenses that exist however, in The Ego and the mechanisms of Defense Ana Freud (1936/1986) discusses ten. However, subsequently there has expansion of recognised defences (Kramer 2013). Although, authors vary on the number of defenses that are present, there is a largely an agreement on the role of defenses. The function of these defense mechanisms is to modify internal psychological conditions such as emotions and thoughts by changing the meaning or implication of perceived threats (Kramer 2013). Defenses are utilised differently in borderline personality and comparable disorders and therefore necessitate accurate identification for therapeutic appropriate intervention (Cooper, 1998). Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a severe and dominant psychiatric condition featuring affective instability, marked impulsivity, and substantial deficits in the ability to work and sustain meaningful relationships (Hadjipavlou and Ogrodniczuk 2010). It is definitely not easy for us to maintain a successful marriage being an ocean apart. Our relationship, as any other, has its strengths and its weaknesses. What I find the most important is the constant feeling of strong commitment, warmth and mutual emotional dependability. These feelings compensate for the lack of one extremely important ingredient: good communication. Intimacy requires that partners are able to talk about anything and to feel understood by the loved one. It became apparent during our marriage that neither of us have solid communication skills. ... • 37. Peter Pan Reflection Altering Tink Sam Taylor (CEO), once said, If we aren t willing to change and keep up with innovation someone else will. If someone isn t motivated to move forward and create new ideas, there will be someone else that will succeed in their place. People need change sometime, or their lives would be dull, static, and boring. Change is crucial to a person s life to show dynamic differences in their characteristics. It is important for people to be flexible and open minded in different experiences to handle future circumstances. Change is the key to determine one s future. In J.M. Barrie s Peter Pan, the character Tinker Bell is dynamic as illustrated by her words, actions, and motivations. To start, Tinker Bell is shown to be dynamic depicted through her unkind words. An example of this from the book is when Tink treats Wendy offensively by calling her ugly: He had to translate. She is not very polite. She says you are a great ugly girl, and that she is my fairy (Barrie 27). Tinker Bell is shown to be uncivil and boorish towards Wendy by calling her ugly. As a perfect antagonist, she creates tension and suspense in the story with her threats towards Wendy. Without remorse, Tink doesn t even apologize to Wendy. With this type of behavior, she shows her nasty side, her lack of concern for her feelings, and how she may have hurt them. However, while Tinker Bell expressed in words, her more cruel side, being churlish towards Wendy, that doesn t represent her whole self. Next, Tinker Bell illustrates her dynamic self through her actions towards other characters, like Peter. For instance, when Tink plays the role of protagonist towards Peter by saving his life: No time for words now; time for deeds;and with one of her lightning movements Tink got between his lips and the draught, and drained it to the dregs (121). Tink flew in front of Peter s lips before he could drink the poison knowing it could kill either Peter or herself depending on who drank it. Tinker Bell shows a caring and selfless side through an action that could kill her, but her love for Peter was so strong, she had no choice. This makes her a protagonist. All in all, she was Peter s hero that night, and this explains how Tink is not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. The Effect Of Breastfeeding On Ovarian And Breast Cancer... Introduction Since some years, there has been fundamental shift in infant nutrition research due to increasing evidence that the role of early nutrition during this vital period of life has deep biological effects and has an important consequence both in long and short term health (Fewtrell 2007). The research that has been done in this area offers strong evidence that human milk feeding decreases the severity and incidence of a vast range of infectious diseases (Garner 1997). There are many benefits of breastfeeding reduces the ovarian and breast cancer risks and a reduction in other types of systemic health such as obesity, overweight, asthma and morbidity. In this way breastfeeding also becomes one of the main causes of benefits for the mothers (Horta 2013). In their report, WHO also recommends the exclusive breastfeeding until the infant is six months old. They further, recommend that the children should consume breastfeeding complemented with food intake until they are two years old (Horta 2013). Formula fed vs. Breastfed The evidence that is present regarding the infant feeding as a risk factor for dental caries in inconsistent in many ways. The risk regarding dental caries is closely related to carbohydrate content in breast milk besides the factors that decide the length of contact between the erupted dentition and the breast milk (Danielsson 2009). In contrast to formula, breast milk contains breast specific Lactobacilli and other substances that include secretory ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Identity Loss In Forgetfulness, AndOnce More To The Lake Authors often create texts that share common themes to teach readers importance of certain aspects and hardships of life. Theme may be expressed through an author s use of rhetorical devices and many other contributing factors such as figurative language and repetition. The essay, Once More to the Lake written by E.B. White and the poem Forgetfulness written by Billy Collins, both contain a theme of identity loss. In Once More to the Lake E.B White connects to a lake at young age and when returning with his son years later is unable to identify himself. In similar theme Forgetfulness describes different factors of human life and everyday things being forgotten and lost. Both White and Collins use repetition and metaphors to further push the theme of identity loss throughout the texts. First and foremost, authors E.B. White and Billy Collins both use exceptional repetition to portray the themes of their writings Once More to the Lake and Forgetfulness . In the essay Once More to the Lake, the main character expressed his connection to the lake from a young age. Later in life he brings his son and begins to be at a loss for his identity while being at the lake. Similar in theme, the poem Forgetfulness is a tale describing the loss of parts of one s life that used to be known, much like identity loss. Repetition is a major key in both texts for pushing the theme of identity loss. During Once More to the Lake, E.B White experienced many moments that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Repercussions Of Children In A Motherless Home We have heard of children who are raised without a father in the home, but I want to bring attention to another, more rare issue, children being raised without a mother in the home. A letter to the editor, published in The New York Times, on May 1, 1994, states, That in 1988, the last year for which the Social Security Administration collected data showing that 588,000 children under the age of 18 had lost their mothers to death a figure that doesn t even begin to include those families where mothers are absent due to divorce, abandonment, alcoholism, mental impairment and imprisonment (NY Times). No matter the many reasons a child can be motherless, the effects can be life changing. Beth Azar with the American Psychological Association says that, Children without mothers in the household can have damaging effect including but not limited to insecurities, angst, doubt and hesitance about the world around them. Insecure attachments can negatively impact children psychologically and socially throughout all stages of development and into adulthood (www.refrence.com social science and psychology). What exactly are some of the repercussions of child in a motherless home? A motherless child can be less likely to develop bonds with other people than the fatherless child. • 45. How Does Substrate Concentration Affect The Rate Of Enzymes Enzymes are globular proteins that act as catalysts which affect the rate of chemical reaction without being destroyed or altered during the process. They are very effective in the body systems of organisms, an enzyme that catalyzes more than one thousand chemical reactions per second. But there are certain conditions that enzymes can work normally or efficiently, such as the temperature of the environment must be correct for each enzyme because different enzymes will have different optimum temperature ranges in which they can live; pH levels in the environment must also be correct because if the environment around the enzyme is too basic or acidic, the enzyme will quickly denature; substrate concentration also affects the rate of reaction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Enzymes are organic catalysts and can speed up chemical reactions. Two molecules of hydrogen peroxide are broken down into two molecules of water and a molecule of oxygen gas. Both water and oxygen are harmless to cells and therefore, the presence of catalase allows cells to break down the toxic substance hydrogen peroxide before cells become poisoned. The mechanism is that the enzyme bind to the substrate at the active site. The combination is called the enzyme/substrate complex. Enzymes only work with specific molecules. The active site is a specially shaped area of the enzyme that fits around the substrate. Catalysis is when the substrate is changed. It can be broken down or combined with another molecule to make a new one by breaking or building bonds. Then the enzyme/product complex is produced. When the enzyme is released, it goes back to its original shape and repeats the process. The enzyme in plants or human body is the most active at room temperature, because it has to achieve the highest efficiency. Therefore, when conditions change, such as increasing or decreasing the temperature of the reaction, the enzyme activity will be inhibited and less efficient. This can lead to the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide, which is not efficient, and can be toxic in organs. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
