Presidential Campaign Communication Analysis
Craig Allen Smith s 2015 update of Presidential Campaign Communication details every aspect of a
Presidential campaign from start to finish. Taking into account the trialogue between campaigners,
reporters, and citizens, the roles each of them play differ, but come down to the citizen. The citizen is
exposed to campaign ads, candidate appearances while they try and weed through the information in
order to make a decision on their political beliefs. Campaigners have a different agenda because they
most surface, gain their parties nomination, bring the party together of the primary season, and then go
on to win the electoral college with 270 votes or more. The third and final part of this trialogue are the
reporters, which can be on any platform that his an audience. ... Show more content on

It is also important to understand that only three in four Americans that are registered to vote and, out
of them, only two thirds go out and vote. It is all about how the citizen decides how to participate in
the election after being presented with all the information of Campaigners. With the advent of new
technology, our new social media overtakes other, older forms of technology. Citizens surround
themselves with like minded people on these different platforms and are exposed to the views of their
families and friends, who usually hold the same ideals in high esteem. When there is discourse, which
most citizens try to avoid, they remove themselves from the contentious situation. System 1 thinking
affects more Citizens as it is quick and targets people who already have a specific belief system that
allows them to subconsciously take in stimuli. This is in contrast to System 2 thinking, which requires
more thinking and effort in order to analyze the

Argumentative Essay Smoking
The numbers of people who smoke have increased over the years. Although they are equipped with
the knowledge of how unhealthy smoking can be, people still choose to smoke. It is a personal choice
and a highly addictive habit. Smokers choose to subject themselves to the health risks of smoking. It is
not for the government or any third party to dictate whether or not a person should be allowed to
smoke. However, smoking does not only affect the smoker negatively. It also affects all the people
around those who smoke because when people smoke in public the smoke travels everywhere through
the air, and the negative effects of the smoke affects all living, breathing creatures. Therefore smoking
should be banned in all public places.
People who smoke in public portray a bad example. Children are easily influenced in their growing
stages. They imitate the people around them because they cannot differentiate between right and
wrong. Therefore they perceive the actions they see around them as the way thing should be. Besides
that, teenagers who see people smoke in public take it as precedent to start smoking as well. There is a
saying that goes monkey see monkey do , which tells us that people imitate the actions of others as
they see it in their daily lives. Teenagers happen to think that smoking makes a person cool . When
they see adults doing it on the streets, it strengthens their belief in the coolness of smoking. Some
teenagers think that smoking marks their transition

Essay On Yellowstone National Park Fire
Yellowstone National Park had experienced its driest season during the summer of 1988. The lack of
fires the previous years had led to a flammable buildup of old trees in the forests. These trees were
ready to burn, and they did. Towns close to the park were clouded with smoke and people were told to
evacuate as the fire burned out of control. Although this scenario is viewed as a tragedy for wildlife
and tourists, there were benefits that came out of it.
The event had burned more than 8,500 acres of land and destroyed the forests found in Yellowstone,
but there were outcomes of it that made up for the damage. For example, animals like fish, deer, and
bears had died during the tragic accident, but it turns out that it was convenient for the animals who
had survived. This was seen as an advantage for the other animals because the plants that they had
eaten before were burned, so they were able to feast on the remains of the already dead animals. Also,
in spite of the plants and trees being burnt due to the fire, they became useful as they were made into
new nests for birds like woodpeckers and bluebirds. Furthermore, it has also been proven that there
was no long term negative effect on the animal population in the park. ... Show more content on

After the tall trees in the forests had burned to the ground, more sunlight was able to reach places of
the soil that it wasn t able to before. Together with the burned materials on the ground, the soil
absorbed even more nutrients. Besides plant growth, scientists have found evidence about how
allowing periodic fires were better for the ecosystem than preventing them. The prevented buildup of
woody debris is known to make fires larger, which would spread it across the area faster and make it
harder for firefighters to put an end to

Modern Art Vs. Contemporary Art
Art overall is created and adored by numerous amount of people for many reasons, such as amplifying
shared common visual language. The word art often branches into many different movements and
components. Modern art or Contemporary art is one those components; this specific genre began
mainly in the 1860 s to the 1970 s. During, this time period artists began throwing aside their own
beliefs in a spirit of experimentation and the bringing of new ideas. The purpose of Modern art is to
beautify one s surroundings with intrigue, its often very diverse and cannot be easily defined through a
list of visual characteristics, artistic themes or cultural concern. Moreover, Modern art is often hard to
understand by people because, unlike Egyptian tomb paintings or Greek sculptures, it speaks to the
dramatic social, political and technological changes of the last 50 60 years, and questions many of
society s values and assumptions. Also, Modern artists known for incorporating a great deal of
abstraction into their works and representational forms to convey their ideas more elaborately; Rene
Magritte is one of those artists. In the False Mirror by Rene Magritte the artist presents his viewers
with an enormous lashless eye illuminated with luminous cloud swept blue sky filling the iris and
opaque, and a dead black disc for the pupil. The painting is filled with a great deal of allusion, because
the artist gives the viewer both a look through the eye as if it s a window and a stare back

Role Of The State And Of The Real Estate Companies
International development studies tries to explain the dynamics between countries in terms of the
population s well being by comparing economic, political, social, historical, and cultural factors
(Haslam, Schafer and Beaudet 2012, 5). Indeed, even UNESCO world heritage sites can be examined
under the international development scope. Chile is a country containing five world heritage sites
including the city of Valparaíso. It was declared as an UNESCO heritage site1 in 2003. A particular
case study was analyzed on the impacts that this declaration has on the local population. This case
study is an important topic to international development since it focuses on poverty, culture,
neoliberalism, and urban development which are issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The weak presence of the state makes it more difficult for states to implement policies and adequate
urban planning that take into account local realities (Hidalgo, Borsdorf and San Martín 2014, 237).
The city s municipal government is in charge of managing the site. However, since it is economically
dependent on the federal government, no specific funds are allocated to the management of Valparaíso
(Hidalgo, Borsdorf and San Martín 2014, 229).
1
The classification of the town as a world heritage site has important implications detrimental to the
socially and economically disadvantaged inhabitants of Valparaíso on a microeconomic level. Firstly,
natural and human induced hazards have important repercussions on the local destitute population4.
Gentrification acts in a way that increases their vulnerability to hazards5. Often, buildings and
artefacts are more vulnerable to hazards in heritage sites. Thus, when a natural or human made disaster
occurs, the urban poor are more prone to lose their home due to the unsafe and unstable structure of
the buildings. In addition, with the advent of early phases of gentrification, it is very difficult for the
affected population to find new living space in the city centre because of a chronic shortage [or even
absence] of low cost housing (Takamura 2015). As a result, this can lead to another issue: out
migration patterns of the lower class to adjacent cities. This not only causes immaterial cultural

Hindutva Essay
Hinduism Hindutva is a popular concept in India that represents Hindu ideology and promotes the
hegemony of Hinduism in government, even at the expense of others. Directly translated as Hinduness
, Hindutva was established as an official term made up by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in 1923 (Falak).
Opponents of Hindutva suggest that it is greatly similar to fascism in the sense that it oppresses the
beliefs and liberties of minority groups. On the other hand, the Sanatan Sanstha was founded by
Jayant Balaji Athavale in 1990 and arranged the Hindu Awakening conferences about unification for
the sake of improving India (Falak). However, Sanatan Sanstha activists have been caught in the
process of trying to bomb Indian cities. Many Hindu political groups contradict their own peaceful
words with violent actions, which is simply deceptive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The caste system, often highly regarded by the elite of Hinduism, consists of four main divisions
(Lee). There are Brahmins, the highest caste of priests and scholars; Kshatriyas, warriors and kings;
Vaishyas, merchants and landowners; and Shudras, servants and peasants. Technically, there is a fifth
category of social status, formerly known as the Untouchables, called Dalits. According to academic
scholars like Dr. Ram Puniyani, Hindutva mainly represents the response of higher caste Hindus to the
uprising of the lower castes; additionally, it is the primary cause of Saffron terrorism in India and
Nepal (Falak). Divisive politics are progressively isolating classes from empathy which is
counterproductive when attempting to create peace for all people since it condones violence against
the lower castes. These inequalities are also apparent beyond the realm of socioeconomic struggles
and cause discriminatory violence in the name of

American Airlines Flight 77 Research Paper
September 11, 2001 American airlines flight 77 was in the process of boarding passengers. This flight
was scheduled to leave Washington Dulles airport, in the process of boarding two of the five men were
considered suspicious by a CAPPS (Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System) agent. The
reasons that Nawaf al Hazmi and Salem al Hazmi were subjected to extra attention by the CAPPS
agent is because one of the brothers did not have any identification and he could also not speak any
english. The kicker here is that the agent on duty for CAPPS found the two men to be very suspicious.
Unfortunately the only consequences of the actions taken were minute because there checked bags
were held off the plane until it was confirmed that the two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On Saturday September 21 the terror began and continued for eighty hours. Al Shabaab militants
brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the lunacy
that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious behavior is
someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for both cases as this
group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing. Frank Musungu, who
worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military personnel not to go to high profile
malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu, knowing this danger carried a hand gun
with him to the little café near the entrance of the mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing.
The events that took place the day those crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic
and need to be assessed. Men who were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway.
The problem is not necessary to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take
action was before the events took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the
safety of the west gate mall. Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my
knowledge and understanding as to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it
happened.

Geriatric Population
The United States will soon come face to face with a major problem that will need serious attention
and consideration, how to support its growing geriatric population. Hospitals specifically will need to
focus on caring for the aging group. They will also want to acknowledge how losing their matured
workforce could potentially affect their efficiency and services performed. The rise in geriatric
patients can be attributed to the generation born between the years 1946 and 1964, generally known as
the baby boomers . (Carrington College) After World War II, the US economy took off, giving
Americans the confidence in their ability to support a large family (Kimberly N. Kutz). During this

illness and diseases, they will require more medical attention than a typically young person. Baby
boomers have proven to have higher rates of hypertension, cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes. All these
medical procedures and services will continue to add up and with limited funds in the Medicare
program this could lead to a large problem. While this age group may go to the doctor they are not
going to do whatever the doctor said McGee states. This generation is known for being stubborn and if
they do not agree with the doctor they will more than likely not listen to the doctor. This could

Discuss the View That the Impact of Earthquake Hazards...
Discuss the view that the impact of earthquake hazards depends primarily on human factors (40) .
I agree to some extent about the statement above and that human factors can affect the impact of an
earthquake hazard. A hazard is an object or process that has the potential to cause harm. Ground
shaking, ground displacement and flooding are some of the hazards that are produced during an
earthquake. In relation to the question above the type and severity of the impact can be affected by
physical factors (such as the magnitude and frequency of the quake) as well as human factors
(population density and education). I will be discussing the question using the following case studies,
Sichuan, Indonesia and L Aquila.

This lack of management lead to the collapsing of 5m buildings along with a further 21m damaged.
This included 8 schools which were toppled in Dujjangyan, killing and trapping school students.
China did not create an adequate seismic design code until after the 1976 quake and even then it was
difficult to enforce building regulations, producing a total estimated economic loss of $86b. Making
this the second mostly costly earthquake from 1900 2013. The impacts of this earthquake were caused
primarily on human factors, with adequate predicting systems and improved infrastructure the total
loss and damage could have been reduced.
From the case study above we can see that human influences were the main cause in the severity of
the impact, but that s not always the case, physical factors are just as important. This can be seen in
the great Sumatra Andaman earthquake which took place on the 26th of December 2004 and
registered a 9.1 magnitude, one of the third biggest recorded quakes. The subduction of the Indo
Australian plate under the Burma plate triggered the tsunami responsible for the greatest loss of life in
a tectonic event. A 15 20m slip occurred along 1600km of fault line in two phases over a period of
around 3 4 minutes, the longest rupture ever recorded in an earthquake. The focus was located just
30km below sea level, which resulted in serval billion tonnes of water being displaced across

The Is An Innate Characteristic Of Humans
Curiosity is an innate characteristic of humans. Why are we here? How did life start? What happened
at the beginning of time? How does everything fit together? These are seminal questions that plagued
our ancestors and currently plague us. Answering these seemingly impossible questions is the role of
science, specifically physics, in humanity. At the beginning of the quest to understand the universe in
its entirety was Aristotle and his Aristotelian physics. While in the future Aristotelian physics would
turn out to be completely incorrect, his original ideas and theories were paramount in the development
of modern science, and are evident in a wide array of fields. However, it was not until humanity
accepted the flaws in Aristotelian physics that humanity made any progress toward more fully
understanding the laws of the universe. While Aristotelian physics was entirely wrong in a multitude
of ways, it was still needed to form a basis for the modern method of discovery, as well as a shift from
logic based theories to observation based theories. Furthermore, the majority of theories in the history
of science are, at first, incorrect. Historically, the process of error discovery has been the main method
of progression in the sciences. This process is observed from theory of universal gravitation to the
theory of general relativity, and from statistical mechanics and thermodynamics to the theory of
quantum mechanics. The cycle of theorizing and rejecting is a necessity to the

The Negative Effects Of Racial Profiling
Racial Profiling The Amin brothers, Ahmad and Hassan, were normal young adults like you and I.
They lived in Pakistan for only a short period of their lives and moved to the US at a young age. Their
mother, Tahira Manzur had high hopes that they will become permanent, working, residents of the US.
Unfortunately, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS for short, had suspicions that the
young men had correlations to a 9/11 terrorist attack. Hassan was arrested and stayed at Yuba county
jail overnight until a 4,000$ bail freed him and his younger brother ,Ahamad, missed school every
wednesday and had to check in with the INS Offices. In the process, they were in the fight against
being deported for 5 tiring years along with rigorous court dates all because of assumptions to
terrorism. (Racial Profiling since 9/11). Part of their young lives was striped from them. Racial
profiling can and has had a detrimental effect on many lives like the Amin brothers. What does the
INS do? Their main job is to regulate immigrants who come into the country and if their transmission
is legal. Racial profiling is used, mainly in law enforcement, to target people based off of stereotypes
of their race, ethnicity, religion, or origin if they are suspected to be part of a criminal action. It has
been around since the 1800 s but a recent event also revealed it was used as well when Japanese
immigrants wanted to move to the US but were denied access because of distrust from the result

Omnipotence Of God
God is the almighty, the all powerful, and the creator. The concept of God has intrigued humans since
the dawn of time. As a result, the ability to understand Him is necessary. The question, What is God?,
has baffled intellectuals throughout history. According to the Oxford Dictionary, God is the creator
and ruler of the universe and source of moral authority. However, this definition loosely describes the
fundamentals of God himself. In order to accurately define Him, one must go beyond sources like the
Bible because it contains refutable miracles to outline the acts of God. To truly define God, one must
identify the traits that make God unparalleled. God must be an omniscient and omnipotent, an
omnibenevolent, and an omnitemporal being. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By being all knowing, or omniscient, He is able to observe all parts of the universe. This ability is the
reason why people believe He is cognizant of whether they have sinned or shown virtue. In order to be
all knowing, God must also be all powerful, or omnipotent. Omnipotence allows God to create the
universe and control everything within it. Without omniscience and omnipotence, God would be
demoted to just a higher order being instead of the perfect being, which would defy the basis for
monotheistic beliefs. Likely the most challenging trait for people to understand is God s
omnibenevolence: the ability to be completely good. Omnibenevolence suggests His capacity to end
all suffering. However, He intentionally allows the path of life to veer away from perfection. This fact
stems from the gift of free will. Without free will, life would lose its meaning and thus would be
fundamentally imperfect. God s omnibenevolence is to provide a life with meaning. His creation of an
imperfect existence is the epitome of perfection, for what is life but

Childhood Memory And Attention As Predictors Of Academic...
Early Childhood Memory and Attention as Predictors of Academic Growth Trajectories
Memory plays a very important role in our academic growth and improving our skills. The purpose of
this paper is to review a study by Stipek Valentino (2015), which examines associations between
attention and memory and academic skill development. Stipek Valentino (2015) used longitudinal data
from the children of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth to measure how well attention and
short term and working memory in early childhood predict growth trajectories in both math and
reading comprehension through adolescence and education attainment in young adulthood (Stipek
Valentino, 2015). The study indicated that the relationship between working memory and attention in
academic outcomes was observed to be strong and positive in early childhood but not significant
during the later years (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The results of the study suggest that core cognitive
capacities predict learning in the early elementary grades, but the relationship weakens by late
elementary school. These findings suggest that while efforts to develop attention and memory may
improve academic achievement in the early grades, during the later grades interventions that focus
directly on learning the subject matter are more likely to improve academic achievement (Stipek
Valentino, 2015).

The Easter Vigil
For the Easter vigil I attended at the Ross Hall Chapel at 7:30 pm at the University of St. Mary on
Saturday, April 15th. Although this was my third time going to this chapel I still felt a little lost how
the Chapel did their services. From how the service was structured, to certain prayers I felt
overwhelmed with the many sacraments that were done that night. This time I prepared myself to
leave on time and reached the church ten minutes early. As I was heading to the chapel area I saw
many of the attendees walking out of the chapel. At first, I thought I was late, so I asked if I the
service had ended. They told me, no and they were heading to the front of the building for the blessing
of the fire. They said I could head into the chapel pick a seat, and then meet with them at the front. So

Women In Homer s Iliad And The Woman In Genesis
The women in Homer s Iliad and the women in Genesis both exhibit the accepted societal values in a
woman through their duties as wives, which typically consists of obedience and the ability to sustain

in ways outside of what was considered normal in their society. Though both Rebekah and
Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a
woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Through revolutionary
behaviors demonstrated by both women, they grant themselves more authority and power in decision
making, which in turn affects the fate of each woman s family. Both ... Show more content on

6.455 456). Andromache pleads with Hector to stay with her and her son while the war progresses,
using her suggestions of military action to prevent Hector from facing his foreseen destiny of being
killed by Achilles. This type of request followed by her ability to share her insight and advice with her
husband demonstrates not only the type of relationship the two have between one another, but how
Andromache steps out of the classic idea of being one with very limited power in her ability to
influence her husband s views. She states her views to take initiative for her own self interest, not just
her husband s. Hector takes this advice, but ultimately his own self interest controls his actions, just
like Andromache s does to her, and decides to leave for the war so that he maintains his honor (timē),
but before leaving he asks her to go back to the house now and take care of [her] work (Il. 6.515).
Hector now orders Andromache to do her wifely duties and Andromache obeys as she went back
home (Il. 6.520). Here she exhibits a sort of contradiction to her previous actions, from being
outspoken and making decisions to reversing back to her boundaries as a wife by obeying her husband
s demands. Paradoxically, Andromache s previous behaviors would show that she is defying social
norms, however she recognizes her limitations once Hector rejects her ideas

The Cross Pollination Religious Customs And Material Culture
The cross pollination religious customs and material culture in the Cuban Diaspora has provided a
wealth of indigenous and assimilative sources (Gordon, 2014: 53), and this has afforded Mendive a
rich abundance of inherited iconography of fauna, flora and otherworldly phenomena to consume and
use in the process of creating his artworks. Mendive is able to animate the pantheon of Orishas,
depicted as either interacting with or sometimes assimilating human postures and gestures. Such
representations of the Santería cosmic beings investigate concepts of hybridity, New Word practices of
syncretism, and notions of a perceived combining of different and seemingly contradictory beliefs
through the blending of customs and traditions of different schools of thought and discourse (Turner,
2014).
The earliest mention of syncretism appeared in the philosophy of Plutarch as the act or system of
blending, combining or reconciling inharmonious elements... to forget dissensions and to unite in the
face of common danger (Showerman, 1910 11: 292 93). In The Creation of Afro Caribbean Religions
and their Incorporation of Catholic Elements Bettina Schmidt maintains that syncretism is too simple
a term to use in attempting to encapsulate the full meaning behind the creation process of Santería.
According to her, it upholds the belief that the Cuban religion was formed by the sheer mixing of the
dominant Catholicism doctrine with the suppressed religious practices of the Yoruba people

Sam Houston Annexation Of Texas
The independence of Texas from Mexico and its admission into the United States of America was
made possible because of the will of a single man. He was a military leader and politician whose
actions made a lasting mark. Sam Houston took a stand for Texas through his leadership in the Texan
army, securing self rule, and by setting the foundation for the annexation of Texas. Before the arrival
of Sam Houston, Stephen Austin, an American, set out to colonize land owned by the Spanish Empire.
Continuing the plans of his father Moses, Austin arranged the movement of hundreds of families to his
newly acquired space as a result of a Spanish grant (Encyclopedia of American History Expansion and
Reform 1813 1855 Volume IV). However, this arrangement ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

A small detachment of Texan soldiers managed to take control of San Antonio and the fortified

On February 23, 1836, after a grueling winter march, General Antonio López de Santa Anna and his
army arrived at San Antonio to put down the frontier rebellion. The Texian rebels withdrew across the
San Antonio River into the safety of the old fortified mission known as the Alamo. As Mexican forces

Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s...
Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Eliot s The Mill on the Floss
George Eliot is quoted as stating: A woman s hopes are woven of sunbeams; a shadow annihilates
them (Miner 473). To extend this notion, Jean Giraudoux in Tiger at the Gates, states I have been a
woman for fifty years, and I ve never been able to discover precisely what it is I am (474). These two
statements are related to each other because they express, in large part, the dilemma facing Mary
Shelley, Charlotte Brontë, and George Eliot as they set out to write fictional manuscripts. Giraudoux
may not be able to define female even though she herself is a woman, because a shadow has
annihilated the hopes she might have had in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He is created by Shelley to bear the weight of her personal feelings of loss in a male world and of
being defined by men; thus the monster is defined as a male. His despondency is the result of Shelley
realizing the molding of a male culture on her female uniqueness, and in result sees herself not as a
unique female individual, but a formed, boxed in creature; she realizes the monster that I am.
Jane, speaking for Charlotte, looks at herself in a mirror, rather than through a screen of definitions
men have created in regard to her. She ignores the limiting stories, and sees how cold and dark it is to
be true to the female qualities within her body. Being true to the qualities means coldness and
darkness ; words reminiscent of aloneness, and these are harsher than dealing with viewing herself
within the portrait of reality: in a male dominated society, containing males who create the role she
must live.
Lastly, Maggie looks at an inverted mirror, described as a square looking glass [emphasis my own].
The shape of the mirror is important because boxes are also square, and Maggie, like George, feels
that she is in a box created for her, with only the dark back of the mirror to view. In the scene, Maggie
considers turning the mirror around, but then quickly reconsiders. Perhaps she feels the act will do no
good, for light must be present for a mirror

The Novel The Handmaid s Tale
The effect of words, powerless and innocent as they are, depending on the one who combines them
can have good and evil outcomes. In the hands of Margaret Atwood, she used her knowledge and
different interpretation of words in her dystopian novel The Handmaid s Tale in a very indirect and
devious way making her novel a treasure hunt in search of these key words for the understanding of
the novel. The novel takes place in Gilead, a very dark future of the United States, governed by a
theocratic government which oppresses women by making them handmaids in the name of religion to
cure the infertility of the population. The double entendre diction which exists throughout the whole
novel adds subliminal hints on the charactarisation of the characters, such as Offred, and to the story
itself, such as the religious political system that governs Gilead, which is a double entendre in itself.
These different plays on diction proves the oppression of our main character and proves how powerful
language can be. The main character of this novel, Offred, proves to be very analytical in her thoughts
in various instances in the novel but the reader can t understand the complete meaning of this. For
example, when Offred was talking about her daily routine after getting up from bed and sitting in the
chair and think about the word char. It can also mean the leader of a meeting. It can also mean a mode
of execution. It is the first syllable in chanty. It is the French world for flesh. None of

Vapor Pressure Lab
Volatile liquids are prevalently used in the perfume industry. Because of their evaporative nature,
feasibility is a top concern from both a shipping and manufacturing standpoint. Therefore, it is
necessary to ship the most viable chemicals under specific conditions . This experiment tested the
relationship between vapor pressure and molar mass and the relationship between vapor pressure and
temperature using four alcohols (amyl alcohol, ethanol, methanol, and 2 propanol) to assess whether n
hexanol or an alternative alcohol should be used and how the alcohol should be transported. From the
graph trend lines, a negative slope showed that molar mass was inversely proportional to vapor
pressure, and a positive slope showed that temperature was directly proportional to vapor pressure. It
was concluded that n hexanol transported at colder temperatures would most effectively minimize the
alcohol s volatility.

Boiling point is the temperature at which the vapor pressure equals the ambient atmospheric
pressure.2 Therefore, a substance with a lower boiling point is also one with a higher vapor pressure
because it requires less energy to increase for vapor pressure to equal ambient atmospheric pressure.
Another example is that vapor pressure can serve as an effective indicator of a substance s degree of
volatility, a substance s tendency to vaporize.3 Because a substance with higher vapor pressure has
greater tendencies of both evaporation and condensation in equilibrium, it will also vaporize more
readily.4 This, in particular, will be a central

The Dumbest Generation Essay
As the years tack on and we embark on new technological advances, the effects of such technological
advances brings on new concerns about what this technology is doing to and for us. Is it connecting or
disconnecting us, pushing the boundaries or crossing the line, helping or hurting us? Now what s come
into question is our intellectual habits; Is new technology making us dumber ? With research making
unfair comparisons between the new generations and older generations, those under the age of thirty
cannot be proven to be the dumbest generation , but an improving generation. The information posed
as proof that those under the age of thirty are dumb , isn t equal. Mark Bauerlein, in his bestselling
book The Dumbest Generation, defines those under thirty as being the dumbest generation based on
their lack of general knowledge and slipping reading habits, or our intellectual habits. Bauerlein bases
some of this information off of a Pew survey on What Americans Know: 1989 2007 , where 56
percent of 18 to 29 year olds possessed low knowledge levels, while only 22 percent of 50 to 64 year
olds did (Source 1). This research shows that the younger generation lacks knowledge of their media,
money, e gadgets, and career plans (Source 1). When looking at the information, how is this a fair
comparison? The research studies the two groups along the same time period, from 1989 2007 it does
not show results of the knowledge when both groups were from ages 18 to

Symphony Orchestra Review Essay
On October 10, I attended the performances of the University Symphony Orchestra, with guest

with having the pleasure of an intermissionary lecture about the possible survival of Beethoven and
Schubert with the help of modern medicine led by Professor Blankenship from the School of
Pharmacy. Before the first piece, Principal Violin Vogel led the tuning of the orchestra in the
traditional B flat. Trio 180 then emerged onstage and were recognized as the soloists as Professor
Leong led the tuning of the trio. The first piece of the evening was Beethoven s Triple Concerto Op.

mirroring, leading to a unanimous motif which was replicated in distinct moments as the bass and
treble strings branched off into their own movements. Throughout the piece, the strings in the
orchestra were featured more than the wind instruments, as they were typically the support for the
soloists. Trio 180 worked incredibly well off of each other, watching one another as they played
together in order to experience the flow of the music in a more unified way. When the wind
instruments were featured, the balance, blend, and pitch were nearly seamless; for example, it ... Show

Theranos Case Analysis
Commentary
Introduction:
This commentary is for the purpose of discussing the back story of Ms. Holmes s personal stake and
the related accounting implications.
Theranos Inc. (Theranos or the Company) is a privately held health technology company based in Palo
Alto, California. The Company is well known for the marketing effort on the blood tests technology.
Ms. Holmes, founder and CEO of Theranos, became a youngest self made female billionaire in the
world due to a $9 billion valuation of Theranos in 2015. However, in 2016, the blood tests technology
has been criticized for not being scientifically peer reviewed. In exchange for a promise (from its
investors) not to sue the Company or its executives, Theranos seeks to trade Ms. Holmes s ... Show

Section 83 (b) is only permissible for AMT purposes but not ordinary income tax purposes. 1 (IRS
gave the final ISO regulations in 2004. 2) With the early exercise option, Ms. Holmes would receive
back restricted stocks with the same vesting schedule as the original option. If Ms. Holmes meets both
ISO holding periods, she will pay tax on the entire spread between the sale price and the exercise as
long term capital gain. If a disqualifying disposition occurs, by making the election of Section 83 (b)
within 30 days following exercise, Ms. Holmes would benefit from reducing AMT income.
However, Ms. Holmes still has a risk of losing money if she exercised the ISO early and the stock
price decreases. Smart as Ms. Holmes is, she set up an agreement with the Company to exercise the
options without having to pay upfront. When the stock price goes down, Ms. Holmes can simply
return the shares. By doing so, Ms. Holmes successfully avoids the risk from the declining of the stock
price.
In conclusion, Ms. Holmes was trying to reduce the tax obligation when the stock price goes up and to
avoid loss when the stock price goes down.
Issue:
What are the accounting implications of this transaction?
Analysis and Conclusion:
The Company issued Ms. Holmes ISOs. ISOs ordinarily do not result in a tax deduction for employer
therefore the tax effects from these awards will not be recorded unless a disqualifying

Hollow Men Essay
White agent s purpose of journey is to enlighten the dark place. The agents thus represent western
civilization whose ideal purpose is an altruistic humanitarianism. However, Marlow points out that
those agents were actually the hollow men. Hollow men are people who are inhumane and soulless,
who are empty of humanity and reason. The fact that majority of agents are hollow inside and blind
pilgrims to material desire is explaining the contradiction of colonialism between its reality and
causes. In outer station, Marlow meets the chief accountant, whom Marlow though as a hair dresser s
dummy. This character is wearing perfect attire and maintaining book keeping in the middle of
surrounding chaos. He does not sympathize with the dying agent, but he rather gets irritated by him.

man he encounters is the general manager of the station. He can do nothing but can only create an
uneasiness. Marlow thinks that there is nothing within him and only way to survive in this land is not
to have any entrails like a stuffed man. General manager s incompetence shows how the western
civilization is inefficient and futile in Africa. Brickmaker, a man who follows the general manger, is
also depicted as a hollow man. Even though his mission is to make bricks, Marlow can never find
bricks at the station nor even in his house. Brickmaker is only interested in promotion while doing
nothing. Marlow calls him as papier mache Mephistopheles , which means a paper made devil. He is
another representative of the hollow, soulless and hypocritical nature of European

Positive Optimism Outlook On Life
Life can be full of surprises and is not always an easy journey. However, having an optimism outlook
on life can make one s life journey more enjoyable. Positive emotion is very important to enhance a

challenges in life but to instead have a positive attitude towards all trials. Recently, the author s
husband was sentenced to six and half years to federal prison and it was a devastating event for their

  • 2. Presidential Campaign Communication Analysis Craig Allen Smith s 2015 update of Presidential Campaign Communication details every aspect of a Presidential campaign from start to finish. Taking into account the trialogue between campaigners, reporters, and citizens, the roles each of them play differ, but come down to the citizen. The citizen is exposed to campaign ads, candidate appearances while they try and weed through the information in order to make a decision on their political beliefs. Campaigners have a different agenda because they most surface, gain their parties nomination, bring the party together of the primary season, and then go on to win the electoral college with 270 votes or more. The third and final part of this trialogue are the reporters, which can be on any platform that his an audience. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is also important to understand that only three in four Americans that are registered to vote and, out of them, only two thirds go out and vote. It is all about how the citizen decides how to participate in the election after being presented with all the information of Campaigners. With the advent of new technology, our new social media overtakes other, older forms of technology. Citizens surround themselves with like minded people on these different platforms and are exposed to the views of their families and friends, who usually hold the same ideals in high esteem. When there is discourse, which most citizens try to avoid, they remove themselves from the contentious situation. System 1 thinking affects more Citizens as it is quick and targets people who already have a specific belief system that allows them to subconsciously take in stimuli. This is in contrast to System 2 thinking, which requires more thinking and effort in order to analyze the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Argumentative Essay Smoking The numbers of people who smoke have increased over the years. Although they are equipped with the knowledge of how unhealthy smoking can be, people still choose to smoke. It is a personal choice and a highly addictive habit. Smokers choose to subject themselves to the health risks of smoking. It is not for the government or any third party to dictate whether or not a person should be allowed to smoke. However, smoking does not only affect the smoker negatively. It also affects all the people around those who smoke because when people smoke in public the smoke travels everywhere through the air, and the negative effects of the smoke affects all living, breathing creatures. Therefore smoking should be banned in all public places. People who smoke in public portray a bad example. Children are easily influenced in their growing stages. They imitate the people around them because they cannot differentiate between right and wrong. Therefore they perceive the actions they see around them as the way thing should be. Besides that, teenagers who see people smoke in public take it as precedent to start smoking as well. There is a saying that goes monkey see monkey do , which tells us that people imitate the actions of others as they see it in their daily lives. Teenagers happen to think that smoking makes a person cool . When they see adults doing it on the streets, it strengthens their belief in the coolness of smoking. Some teenagers think that smoking marks their transition ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Yellowstone National Park Fire Yellowstone National Park had experienced its driest season during the summer of 1988. The lack of fires the previous years had led to a flammable buildup of old trees in the forests. These trees were ready to burn, and they did. Towns close to the park were clouded with smoke and people were told to evacuate as the fire burned out of control. Although this scenario is viewed as a tragedy for wildlife and tourists, there were benefits that came out of it. The event had burned more than 8,500 acres of land and destroyed the forests found in Yellowstone, but there were outcomes of it that made up for the damage. For example, animals like fish, deer, and bears had died during the tragic accident, but it turns out that it was convenient for the animals who had survived. This was seen as an advantage for the other animals because the plants that they had eaten before were burned, so they were able to feast on the remains of the already dead animals. Also, in spite of the plants and trees being burnt due to the fire, they became useful as they were made into new nests for birds like woodpeckers and bluebirds. Furthermore, it has also been proven that there was no long term negative effect on the animal population in the park. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the tall trees in the forests had burned to the ground, more sunlight was able to reach places of the soil that it wasn t able to before. Together with the burned materials on the ground, the soil absorbed even more nutrients. Besides plant growth, scientists have found evidence about how allowing periodic fires were better for the ecosystem than preventing them. The prevented buildup of woody debris is known to make fires larger, which would spread it across the area faster and make it harder for firefighters to put an end to ... • 5. Modern Art Vs. Contemporary Art Art overall is created and adored by numerous amount of people for many reasons, such as amplifying shared common visual language. The word art often branches into many different movements and components. Modern art or Contemporary art is one those components; this specific genre began mainly in the 1860 s to the 1970 s. During, this time period artists began throwing aside their own beliefs in a spirit of experimentation and the bringing of new ideas. The purpose of Modern art is to beautify one s surroundings with intrigue, its often very diverse and cannot be easily defined through a list of visual characteristics, artistic themes or cultural concern. Moreover, Modern art is often hard to understand by people because, unlike Egyptian tomb paintings or Greek sculptures, it speaks to the dramatic social, political and technological changes of the last 50 60 years, and questions many of society s values and assumptions. Also, Modern artists known for incorporating a great deal of abstraction into their works and representational forms to convey their ideas more elaborately; Rene Magritte is one of those artists. In the False Mirror by Rene Magritte the artist presents his viewers with an enormous lashless eye illuminated with luminous cloud swept blue sky filling the iris and opaque, and a dead black disc for the pupil. The painting is filled with a great deal of allusion, because the artist gives the viewer both a look through the eye as if it s a window and a stare back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Role Of The State And Of The Real Estate Companies International development studies tries to explain the dynamics between countries in terms of the population s well being by comparing economic, political, social, historical, and cultural factors (Haslam, Schafer and Beaudet 2012, 5). Indeed, even UNESCO world heritage sites can be examined under the international development scope. Chile is a country containing five world heritage sites including the city of Valparaíso. It was declared as an UNESCO heritage site1 in 2003. A particular case study was analyzed on the impacts that this declaration has on the local population. This case study is an important topic to international development since it focuses on poverty, culture, neoliberalism, and urban development which are issues ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The weak presence of the state makes it more difficult for states to implement policies and adequate urban planning that take into account local realities (Hidalgo, Borsdorf and San Martín 2014, 237). The city s municipal government is in charge of managing the site. However, since it is economically dependent on the federal government, no specific funds are allocated to the management of Valparaíso (Hidalgo, Borsdorf and San Martín 2014, 229). 1 The classification of the town as a world heritage site has important implications detrimental to the socially and economically disadvantaged inhabitants of Valparaíso on a microeconomic level. Firstly, natural and human induced hazards have important repercussions on the local destitute population4. Gentrification acts in a way that increases their vulnerability to hazards5. Often, buildings and artefacts are more vulnerable to hazards in heritage sites. Thus, when a natural or human made disaster occurs, the urban poor are more prone to lose their home due to the unsafe and unstable structure of the buildings. In addition, with the advent of early phases of gentrification, it is very difficult for the affected population to find new living space in the city centre because of a chronic shortage [or even absence] of low cost housing (Takamura 2015). As a result, this can lead to another issue: out migration patterns of the lower class to adjacent cities. This not only causes immaterial cultural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Hindutva Essay Hinduism Hindutva is a popular concept in India that represents Hindu ideology and promotes the hegemony of Hinduism in government, even at the expense of others. Directly translated as Hinduness , Hindutva was established as an official term made up by Vinayak Damodar Savarkar in 1923 (Falak). Opponents of Hindutva suggest that it is greatly similar to fascism in the sense that it oppresses the beliefs and liberties of minority groups. On the other hand, the Sanatan Sanstha was founded by Jayant Balaji Athavale in 1990 and arranged the Hindu Awakening conferences about unification for the sake of improving India (Falak). However, Sanatan Sanstha activists have been caught in the process of trying to bomb Indian cities. Many Hindu political groups contradict their own peaceful words with violent actions, which is simply deceptive. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The caste system, often highly regarded by the elite of Hinduism, consists of four main divisions (Lee). There are Brahmins, the highest caste of priests and scholars; Kshatriyas, warriors and kings; Vaishyas, merchants and landowners; and Shudras, servants and peasants. Technically, there is a fifth category of social status, formerly known as the Untouchables, called Dalits. According to academic scholars like Dr. Ram Puniyani, Hindutva mainly represents the response of higher caste Hindus to the uprising of the lower castes; additionally, it is the primary cause of Saffron terrorism in India and Nepal (Falak). Divisive politics are progressively isolating classes from empathy which is counterproductive when attempting to create peace for all people since it condones violence against the lower castes. This flight was scheduled to leave Washington Dulles airport, in the process of boarding two of the five men were considered suspicious by a CAPPS (Computer Assisted Passenger Prescreening System) agent. The reasons that Nawaf al Hazmi and Salem al Hazmi were subjected to extra attention by the CAPPS agent is because one of the brothers did not have any identification and he could also not speak any english. The kicker here is that the agent on duty for CAPPS found the two men to be very suspicious. Al Shabaab militants brought chaos and confusion to the people of Nairobi and 67 people were counted as loss to the lunacy that is thought to be heroic actions for Allah. Most people would say that suspicious behavior is someone acting strangely trying to hide there appearance but the truth is certain for both cases as this group of about seven cowards moved towards the mall with guns blazing. Frank Musungu, who worked for the Kenyan navy was advised along with other military personnel not to go to high profile malls like this one in case of a terrorist attack. Munsungu, knowing this danger carried a hand gun with him to the little café near the entrance of the mall where the terrorist arrived with guns blazing. The events that took place the day those crazy people walking into the west gate mall were truly tragic and need to be assessed. Men who were told not to go to this mall for security reasons did so anyway. The problem is not necessary to the solution in this case because it is obvious that the reason to take action was before the events took place. Suspicious behavior was already a factor concerning the safety of the west gate mall. Why actions were not taken to detour this atrocity is beyond my knowledge and understanding as to why precautions were not taken to neutralize the enemy before it happened. ... Hospitals specifically will need to focus on caring for the aging group. They will also want to acknowledge how losing their matured workforce could potentially affect their efficiency and services performed. The rise in geriatric patients can be attributed to the generation born between the years 1946 and 1964, generally known as the baby boomers . Baby boomers have proven to have higher rates of hypertension, cholesterol, obesity, and diabetes. All these medical procedures and services will continue to add up and with limited funds in the Medicare program this could lead to a large problem. While this age group may go to the doctor they are not going to do whatever the doctor said McGee states. • 10. Discuss the View That the Impact of Earthquake Hazards... Discuss the view that the impact of earthquake hazards depends primarily on human factors (40) . I agree to some extent about the statement above and that human factors can affect the impact of an earthquake hazard. A hazard is an object or process that has the potential to cause harm. Ground shaking, ground displacement and flooding are some of the hazards that are produced during an earthquake. In relation to the question above the type and severity of the impact can be affected by physical factors (such as the magnitude and frequency of the quake) as well as human factors (population density and education). I will be discussing the question using the following case studies, Sichuan, Indonesia and L Aquila. On the 12th May 2008 an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This lack of management lead to the collapsing of 5m buildings along with a further 21m damaged. This included 8 schools which were toppled in Dujjangyan, killing and trapping school students. China did not create an adequate seismic design code until after the 1976 quake and even then it was difficult to enforce building regulations, producing a total estimated economic loss of $86b. Making this the second mostly costly earthquake from 1900 2013. The impacts of this earthquake were caused primarily on human factors, with adequate predicting systems and improved infrastructure the total loss and damage could have been reduced. From the case study above we can see that human influences were the main cause in the severity of the impact, but that s not always the case, physical factors are just as important. This can be seen in the great Sumatra Andaman earthquake which took place on the 26th of December 2004 and registered a 9.1 magnitude, one of the third biggest recorded quakes. The subduction of the Indo Australian plate under the Burma plate triggered the tsunami responsible for the greatest loss of life in a tectonic event. • 14. The Is An Innate Characteristic Of Humans Curiosity is an innate characteristic of humans. Why are we here? How did life start? What happened at the beginning of time? How does everything fit together? These are seminal questions that plagued our ancestors and currently plague us. Answering these seemingly impossible questions is the role of science, specifically physics, in humanity. At the beginning of the quest to understand the universe in its entirety was Aristotle and his Aristotelian physics. While in the future Aristotelian physics would turn out to be completely incorrect, his original ideas and theories were paramount in the development of modern science, and are evident in a wide array of fields. However, it was not until humanity accepted the flaws in Aristotelian physics that humanity made any progress toward more fully understanding the laws of the universe. While Aristotelian physics was entirely wrong in a multitude of ways, it was still needed to form a basis for the modern method of discovery, as well as a shift from logic based theories to observation based theories. Furthermore, the majority of theories in the history of science are, at first, incorrect. Historically, the process of error discovery has been the main method of progression in the sciences. This process is observed from theory of universal gravitation to the theory of general relativity, and from statistical mechanics and thermodynamics to the theory of quantum mechanics. They lived in Pakistan for only a short period of their lives and moved to the US at a young age. Their mother, Tahira Manzur had high hopes that they will become permanent, working, residents of the US. Unfortunately, the Immigration and Naturalization Service, or INS for short, had suspicions that the young men had correlations to a 9/11 terrorist attack. Hassan was arrested and stayed at Yuba county jail overnight until a 4,000$ bail freed him and his younger brother ,Ahamad, missed school every wednesday and had to check in with the INS Offices. In the process, they were in the fight against being deported for 5 tiring years along with rigorous court dates all because of assumptions to terrorism. (Racial Profiling since 9/11). Part of their young lives was striped from them. Racial profiling can and has had a detrimental effect on many lives like the Amin brothers. What does the INS do? Their main job is to regulate immigrants who come into the country and if their transmission is legal. Racial profiling is used, mainly in law enforcement, to target people based off of stereotypes of their race, ethnicity, religion, or origin if they are suspected to be part of a criminal action. It has been around since the 1800 s but a recent event also revealed it was used as well when Japanese immigrants wanted to move to the US but were denied access because of distrust from the result ... • 16. Omnipotence Of God God is the almighty, the all powerful, and the creator. The concept of God has intrigued humans since the dawn of time. As a result, the ability to understand Him is necessary. The question, What is God?, has baffled intellectuals throughout history. According to the Oxford Dictionary, God is the creator and ruler of the universe and source of moral authority. However, this definition loosely describes the fundamentals of God himself. In order to accurately define Him, one must go beyond sources like the Bible because it contains refutable miracles to outline the acts of God. To truly define God, one must identify the traits that make God unparalleled. God must be an omniscient and omnipotent, an omnibenevolent, and an omnitemporal being. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By being all knowing, or omniscient, He is able to observe all parts of the universe. This ability is the reason why people believe He is cognizant of whether they have sinned or shown virtue. In order to be all knowing, God must also be all powerful, or omnipotent. Omnipotence allows God to create the universe and control everything within it. Without omniscience and omnipotence, God would be demoted to just a higher order being instead of the perfect being, which would defy the basis for monotheistic beliefs. Likely the most challenging trait for people to understand is God s omnibenevolence: the ability to be completely good. Omnibenevolence suggests His capacity to end all suffering. However, He intentionally allows the path of life to veer away from perfection. This fact stems from the gift of free will. Without free will, life would lose its meaning and thus would be fundamentally imperfect. God s omnibenevolence is to provide a life with meaning. His creation of an imperfect existence is the epitome of perfection, for what is life but ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Early Childhood Memory and Attention as Predictors of Academic Growth Trajectories Memory plays a very important role in our academic growth and improving our skills. The purpose of this paper is to review a study by Stipek Valentino (2015), which examines associations between attention and memory and academic skill development. Stipek Valentino (2015) used longitudinal data from the children of the National Longitudinal Survey of Youth to measure how well attention and short term and working memory in early childhood predict growth trajectories in both math and reading comprehension through adolescence and education attainment in young adulthood (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The study indicated that the relationship between working memory and attention in academic outcomes was observed to be strong and positive in early childhood but not significant during the later years (Stipek Valentino, 2015). The results of the study suggest that core cognitive capacities predict learning in the early elementary grades, but the relationship weakens by late elementary school. These findings suggest that while efforts to develop attention and memory may improve academic achievement in the early grades, during the later grades interventions that focus directly on learning the subject matter are more likely to improve academic achievement (Stipek Valentino, 2015). Implications of the Article The implications of this study are very important as achievement in school requires a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although this was my third time going to this chapel I still felt a little lost how the Chapel did their services. From how the service was structured, to certain prayers I felt overwhelmed with the many sacraments that were done that night. Though both Rebekah and Andromache maintain the classic role of a wife, they occasionally contradict the expectations of how a woman should behave by making decisions traditionally made by men. Identity of Women in Shelley s Frankenstein, Bronte s Jane Eyre, and Eliot s The Mill on the Floss George Eliot is quoted as stating: A woman s hopes are woven of sunbeams; a shadow annihilates them (Miner 473). The novel takes place in Gilead, a very dark future of the United States, governed by a theocratic government which oppresses women by making them handmaids in the name of religion to cure the infertility of the population. The double entendre diction which exists throughout the whole novel adds subliminal hints on the charactarisation of the characters, such as Offred, and to the story itself, such as the religious political system that governs Gilead, which is a double entendre in itself. These different plays on diction proves the oppression of our main character and proves how powerful language can be. Because of their evaporative nature, feasibility is a top concern from both a shipping and manufacturing standpoint. From the graph trend lines, a negative slope showed that molar mass was inversely proportional to vapor pressure, and a positive slope showed that temperature was directly proportional to vapor pressure.
