I, By The Audience Experienced The Journey Of Chris Ladd
In the short film i , the audience experienced the journey of Chris Ladd as he worked to
determine his true identity. His journey reflected the change in ideas and measurement of
personality over time. He ultimately concluded that there isn t a way to label one s own identity,
but rather all measurements are simply descriptors. To arrive at this conclusion he partook in the
three major methods of personality study: Subjective, Objective and BLIS Data Inventories.
Through these tests, it was present that though major themes were continued throughout the
process for Ladd, each measurement gave a different and incomplete answer. This led me to
believe that if I were to also study my own identity, I would use similar but look at the results
through a different lens, specifically one of introspection. Ladd began his journey with projective
/subjective methods, which was completed through the use of a psychic. He was critical of this
methodology from the beginning, mainly due to its founding in Freud and the lack of reliability in
the studies. This is alluded to in the film with the variability of answers to Rorschach Tests, which
can be interpreted differently by a patient each time, and the administrator can also interpret the
answers differently each time. When the psychic made a computing error, it acted as a self
fulfilling prophecy for Chris, and he even pointed out that her predictions for his future fall in line
with general hopes, such as living in a nice apartment in

Covert Vs Overt Attention
Every day we are faced with numerous visual inputs and our brain needs to filter and select the
information of interest. This selection can be achieved either endogenously (top down, guided by
behavioural goal) or exogenously (bottom up, guided by salient visual event) (Posner Cohen, 1980).
Endogenous and exogenous shift of attention can be directed to the visual stimuli either
accompanied with eye and/or head movement referred as overt attention or independently of any
gaze movement referred as covert attention (Findlay Gilchrist, 2003).
The relationship between covert and overt attention has been the subject of numerous studies in the
past decades, and behavioural as well as neurophysiological data suggest that both are tightly
coupled. One influential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Spatial attention is assumed to arise from an activation of the brain map that transforms spatial
information into movement representations (Rizzolatti Craighero, 1998). Thus, the shift of visual
attention would rely on the programming of a saccadic eye movement, whether this movement is
actually executed (overt attention) or not (covert attention). In the lab, one classical paradigm used
to study the covert shift of spatial attention is the cueing paradigm, where participants are asked to
fixate a central point while a predictive cue is briefly flashed to direct their attention towards a
peripheral target (Posner, Snyder, Davidson, 1980). Classical results obtained with this paradigm
reveal that the location of the cue modulates the visual perception of the spatial location even
without making any eye movement. Indeed when the cue is valid, that is when it provides correct
information on the location of the upcoming target participants perform better compared to
conditions where the cue in invalid.

King Arthur Conflict
In the story King Arthur 2 types of conflict were how Lancelot beheaded Tarquin and when
Merlin disguised Pendragon to look like the Duke so he could get with Lady Igraine . When

Lancelot then and everyone wanted to get him. When Merlin disguised Pendragon to look like the
duke cause a lot of conflict also because Lady Igraine did not know that it was not her husband
and she gave herself to him and got pregnant. There is also a lot more conflict, but i thought that
those were the two most important pieces of conflict. In the story there was a lot of conflict, but i

Effects Of Rooibos Tea
Rooibos tea is a highly consumed hot beverage by many worldwide for its sweet flavor and great
aroma. The tea is prepared from a South African endemic plant Aspalathin linearis. The escalation
of Rooibos consumption over the years paralleled the rise of consumer concerns of the
importance of food and beverages in prevention of health threats and diseases (Joubert et al.,
2013). The study by Steenkamp and co workers (2004) demonstrated high radical scavenging
ability of superoxide and hydroxyl of Rooibosextract that superseded that of other commercially
available South African herbal teas which are honey bush tea and roselle scientifically called
(cyclopia intermedia)and (Hibiscus Sabdariffa L.) that are commercially available.

Water Code Of 1934 Essay
Like the United States early effort with the Rivers and Harbor Act of 1899, Brazil s initial
struggle to control pollution started with the legislative enactment of the water Code of 1934.
(Alter, 2012) The Water Code of 1934 was designed to regulate usage, property rights over water,
and setting limitations over water use. Before this landmark legislation, the demands for water
use was overseen by the Ministry of Energy s National Department of Water and Energy. Due to
the fact water was a key resource in power generation and electricity via hydroelectricity, prior to
the Water Code of 1934 power companies had a high degree of control over all aspects that could

During the early 1960 s and late 1970 s, the management of water and sanitation services underwent
several reorganizations to help gap the shortages in public health needs between the economically
sound municipalities and the growing communities without economic solvency. Two key systems
were developed to bridge these gaps; In 1968 The Sanitary Financing System, was created and in
1971 National Water Supply and Sanitation Plan (PLANASA) was established. Under PLANASA,
investment in infrastructure increased significantly as water coverage doubled between 1970 to
1990. Furthermore, the access to sanitary sewerage systems doubled nationally. During this period,
the PLANASA and other peripherally related governmental organizations were investing over $11
billion in water and sanitary sewer systems, with the bulk of the funding going towards water
quality and distribution systems. However, turbulent financial times troubled Brazil during the 1980
s and led to a governmental reorganization which established the Sanitation Secretariat (SNS) under
the Ministry of Social Welfare (MAS) which manages water resources and infrastructure. (Heller,

Pickering Balancing Testing Case Study
As the district court decided correctly when Mr. Molson had proven he spoke as a citizen on a
matter of public concern, his speech would be protected under the First Amendment because the
memorandum did not adversely affect the Center s workplace which would have outweighed his
free speech interests. When an employee speaks as a citizen addressing a matter of public
concern, the First Amendment requires a delicate balancing of the competing interests surrounding
the speech and its consequences. Garcetti, 547 U.S. at 423; Waters, 511 U.S. at 668; Pickering,

Disadvantages in theatre arts are unlikely to occur because there will be less possibility that an
actor or a play write will commit mistake in or during a play. Some of the possible disadvantages
is the lack of time, this is a possible disadvantage a theatre can have because sometimes during
practice they spend a lot of time in their other stuffs to do, so they have limited time to practice
the play. Sometimes the play is given within a few numbers of weeks before the play so they
will rush the rehearsals and often miss the polishing part, so they are prone to make mistakes
during the play. Lot of theatre arts actors, play write don t actually get money from these theatre
arts. They just do this thing for their hobby and because it is their passion to do. That is one
disadvantage of theatre arts. Actually you don t make a lot of money in theatre because it is only
just a thing that you do passionately when you are a part of theatre arts. (Rogelio Braga,

Freudian Slip Theory Essay
Introduction
Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and
was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as
a set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone
possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that
peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people
will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. (Cherry, What is
Psychoanalysis?, 2016)

In 1981, Erdelyi found a Freudian slip in an article criticizing Freudian ideas. Erdelyi had
previously written an article titled: Let us not sweep repression under the rug, a title which was
itself a play on words. But when Loftus and Loftus (1980) cited the paper, while arguing against
repressed memories, they rendered the title as, Let us now sweep repression under the rug. To
Erdelyi, that was exactly what they were trying to do, so he saw this error as an amusing Freudian
slip.
In contrast, there are evidence that proves Freudian slips is unavoidable and peoples will correct
it if they say it or wrote it wrongly. It is clear that slips and mistake are two different things as if
ones who make a mistake and instantly he/she will correct it, that will be the slips of tongue or
pen but if ones kept on making the same mistakes over and over again and he/she does not know
how to correct it, obviously that is a mistake made by the person. However, since Sigmund Freud s
theory been introduced there were many philosopher and researcher who disagree with his idea.

Conflict And Art Analysis
Conflict and art: Renaissance to Modern day Conflicts have caused a considerable amount of
damage to the country s people and economy. However, conflict have also had a tremendous
impact on art; including the famous art pieces we know today. Conflict has especially impacted
these three art pieces: Gassed, The Third Of May 1808 and Awaken From The Unknowing. The
Third of May 1808 was completed by Francisco Goya in 1814, greatly inspired by the Peninsular
war. Gassed was completed by John Singer Sargent in 1919, influenced by the first world war.
Finally, the Civil Rights movement guided Charles White to complete Awaken From the
Unknowing in 1961. Conflicts have influenced art throughout history; each particular art piece
showed the emotion and feelings the author had towards that specific conflict at the time. As I
said before Gassed was completed by John Singer Sargent in 1919. Gassed is an oil type painting

Damn Dams In The United States
Damn Dams The United States has led the world in dam building for the past 100 years. The
dams are used for a variety of purposes, including hydropower, irrigation, flood control, and
water storage. Even though dams can be a benefit to society, they can also cause a lot for harm to
the rivers. Dams degraded river ecosystems, depleted fisheries, and diminished the recreational use
of nearly all of the nation s rivers. Many of the dams are unsafe, old or no longer serve their
intended purposes.

and human beings is explained in the chapter How Soccer Explains the World The Pornography of
Sect. One of the biggest rivals in European soccer history is the Glasgow Ranger versus Glasgow
Celtics. For example when the Glasgow Rangers wear their orange jerseys which were showing
the color of Protestantism walking into their stadium during game day, they sing vulgar and

however, Rangers don t try too hard to discourage religious bigotry. They continue to hawk orange

The Plan For An Integrative Negotiation
Introduction Negotiation is the process whereby people attempt to settle what each shall give and
take or perform and receive in a transaction between them as defined by Rubin and Brown (as
quoted in Stoshikj, 2014, p. 32). This action is usually held between two parties or more in order to
discover a common ground or reach a mutual agreement. It has come under the company s attention
that there are some unresolved issues regarding several different concerns such as air pollution,
water contamination and council land rates on company land in Mortlake, Queensland. Strategy
Implemented Overall, the integrative strategy will be implemented in most of the negotiating

Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water
Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11
Topic:Lowering the Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The
scientists topic sentence is the freezing point point of water will decrease depending on the
amount of solute used in the solvent. In this case it is water. The problem statement is How
much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the freezing point of water. The independent variable
is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is the temperature at the point when the water
will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled variable is no solute (water only). The
scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the water, then the water s freezing point
will decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the hypothesis the scientists will
constantly add more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing point decreases per gram.
In order to lower the temperature at which water freezes you would need salt. When you add salt
to ice the ice would melt and surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt lowers the freezing point
of water. From scientist we learned that salt will lower the freezing point of water. Adding salt to
an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice cube melts, energy is being used to separate
bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes

Trent Bridge
The Veteran s Skyway Gateway to the Trent Bridge
In the early 1990s, the aging swing bridge crossing the Trent River in Trenton, Ontario was
replaced with a continuous span steel box girder bridge. The unique part of this process was that
the new bridge was built adjacent to the existing swing bridge and slid laterally into place; this was
the first time in North America that this technique had been done. The process consisted of five
mains steps; first, the planning of such an undertaking, second, deciding on how to proceed, third,
constructing the new bridge on site, fourth, removing the old swing bridge, and finally, sliding the
new bridge into place, all the while ensuring minimal impact to the vehicular traffic through town

However, the city determined that one bridge would not sufficiently handle the volume of traffic
during the 18 months it would take to complete a new bridge. Thus, City councillors, working with
the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and engineers from Declan Corporation of Toronto,
conceived the plan of building a new bridge adjacent to the swing bridge, and later sliding it into
place (Anderson Trenkler, 1991). But, before the construction of the new bridge could commence,
engineers had to reverse the direction of the swing rotation of the existing bridge, as it swung
directly towards the site the new bridge would be built and would impede on the construction
process (Anderson Trenkler, 1991). Once the planning was finalized and the site prepped,
construction could begin.
In the spring of 1989, the construction of the new bridge began. The base of the Trent River was
a flotilla of barges carrying the workers, cranes and equipment needed to prepare the temporary
pillars that would support the new bridge, as well as maneuver the huge steel girders into place
for the new bridge. It was an awesome sight for the entire town, as we watched barges float the
steel girders into the harbour, one section being 74 meters in length and two more that were 54
metres each. The new steel box girder bridge had a total length of 182 metres and weighed 2,950
metric tonnes (Anderson Trenkler, 1991). Temporary cement pillars were poured to support

Persuasive Essay On Avalanches
I love to snowmobile, and every day I go snowmobiling, I am at risk of becoming a victim of an
avalanche. I ask myself how can I be prepared and confident in the event of an avalanche? My
paper goes into depth on the physical properties and causes of an avalanche as well as the
knowledge you need to stay safe. My paper starts off with the question addressed and then some
research that I have done on the topic. Following that research, I move into the formal research
section of the paper. The research found includes different causes of avalanches, action steps to
take, rescuing victims, trauma, other winter sports safety, and where to find the best information
about avalanches for beginning learners. My paper finishes with my conclusion to about avalanches
and my project. It then goes into my future plans about avalancheresearch. There is more research
to be done on avalanches and I plan on using the information that I have found throughout the rest
of my life.

Albert Bandura Theory
As the pioneering social learning theorist in the 1960s, Albert Bandura refuted the common belief
that studying thoughts and emotions was unscientific. He was adamant that although one could not
see these internal processes, they were still important to study. He has proven that to understand
children, we must first understand their cognitive processes and the ways in which they think and
reason. In my opinion, one of Bandura s most underrated theories is his study of the effects that
exposure to violencehas on children. I believe that it has shaped the way many of us think about
what children are witnessing, and is vital in this time where most children have constant access to
technology.
Bandura extensively studied modeling; he believed that children learn by watching. This applies
to a variety of circumstances. For example, children learn how to behave in a social setting by
watching the interactions of their peers. Children also learn through symbolic models, like stories
and television. He also proposed the idea of no model learning; a child can watch someone else do
something and replicate it perfectly on their first try, without ever having been formally taught. In
what seems to me like a natural progression of thought, Bandura next wondered that if children
absorb what they are seeing effortlessly, how are they be affected by seeing negative things, such
as violence or rough behavior?
In Theories of Development, William Crain (2005) describes a study Bandura conducted in
1965. Four year olds were individually shown a movie with one of three endings. In all three,
the model beat up a Bobo doll. In the first, the model was praised and rewarded for doing this. In
the second, the model was reprimanded and punished for his actions. And in the third, the model
was neither rewarded nor punished. The children were put in a room with a Bobo doll. Those
who had seen the first and third versions of the movie imitated the model many more instances
that those who had seen the second version. This indicates that while seeing a model punished
will make an activity less desirable, and seeing a model rewarded will made it more desirable,
seeing the model neither punished nor rewarded will make the activity just as

The Classical Realism And Constructivist Theory
Terrorism has many forms. Though society knows many of its vicious faces, little does the world
acknowledge that these terror spurred events are often encouraged and sponsored through the
politics of well known nations. I will be applying both the classical realism and constructivist theory
to highlight ways in which the constructivist perspective better addresses state sponsored terrorisms
effect on global relations.
Classical realism focuses on the interactions of state players. There are three main components to
the classical realist perspective; state centrism, rationality, and power.
State sponsored terrorism is controlled by state actors to achieve the goal of political gain. In such
instances, countries which perceive themselves as the victims (Demir 47) of some global injustice
support acts of violence to motivate change by fear. Terrorism itself poses an issue for the realist
paradigm as its main actors are non state. Though it is the response and decisions of state players
that dictate the outcome on interactions between nations, non state actors participate in the actual
acts of terror. Non state actors (NSA) are organizations, or individuals, that hold political influence,
but have no standing as a country. Terrorist groups are a subset of NSA s who use violence and
scare tactics against non combatant targets to bring about political manipulation. Even though the
non state actor carries out the attack, the state centric approach emphasizes the dominant

Music and Painting
During the study of 20th century Western music history in this class, I found out there are may
same movements of art and music. I took 20th century Art history as well so there is always the
comparison of them in my mind. Music and art appear to be two different art forms. Music is both
auditory art, but also an art of time and movement. Music express musicians feelings through
sound, it will create images in the mind of the viewer for them to have a variety of feelings, and to
elicit in the viewer emotional resonance. Painting is a visual art, space art. It is static. Painters use
lines, shades and other forms to sketched out some figurative or abstract pattern. It provide visually
to the viewer a strong impression and cause them reflect a variety of emotions, resulting in aesthetic
stimulation. Music and painting each is done through a different medium with different means of
artistic expression. They both convey people the author s expression of the content and emotion.
Many artists themselves are both musicians and painters, such as Kandinsky, Schoenberg,
Leonardo da Vinci and extra. One of the great examples is Wassily Kandinsky. He is one of the
representatives of Russian expressionism painter. He also was a man versed in music. He is a
friend of expressionist music composer, Schoenberg. By listening to Schoenberg s works, he felt
like a recklessly in front of the same lines in countless dance. Since Kandinsky

Marilyn Monroe Conspiracy Theory
Marilyn Monroe was born on June 1, 1926, in Los Angeles, California. Her first name was
Norma Jeane Mortensen, but she has gone by Marilyn Monroe since 1946. She ended up legally
changing it to Marilyn Monroe in 1956. Monroe s childhood was definitely a challenging and
difficult one as she was in foster care for most of it. She was sexually assaulted many times, and
even said that she was raped when she was only eleven years old. She later dropped out of school
and married her boyfriend, Jimmy Dougherty in 1942 at the age of only 16. Later on, Monroe
became a model and due to her career divorced Jimmy in 1946. Monroe later signed her first movie
contract, but didn t gain much attention until staring in the 1950s film, The Asphalt Jungle. Monroe

There was no residue left inside her to think it was from the pills so it must have been from a lethal
injection. There are many theories to how Marilyn Monroe may have been murdered. Some people
think that Monroe s death was murder from John F. Kennedy and Bobby Kennedy, (with whom
Marilyn supposedly have had affairs with), saying that she knew too much about the Kennedy
family and that she was going to announce the secrets publicly to the world, and Bobby Kennedy
was in Los Angeles that weekend. Fred Otash claimed that he had bugged Marilyn Monroe s
room and had heard her screams as Bobby Kennedy suffocated her to death. The other theory is
that the Kenney s sent the mafia to go murder her. The last one was that Dr. Greenson, her
doctor, overdosed her not knowing that she was already on other medication. I later found out
that the writer of the article had no background information which led me to believe that he or
she was a fraud. If it was from lethal injection then why wasn t any needle marks found? I started
to believe another theory that Marilyn Monroe died by a dose of enema. Supposedly she was a
fan of enema, but to perform the enema dose there must have been another person to give the
lethal dose to her. So people believed it was her doctor, Dr. Greenson. I believed this, until I found
out that the article was written by an intern for the website history news network. Clearly, there is
just not enough real evidence and professional researchers/organizations to prove that Marilyn

The Poaching Of Animals And The Subsequent Trading Of...
The poaching of animals and the subsequent trading of illegal animal products are issues that have
been prevalent in the media and environmental groups for quite some time. Although one may
assume that poaching has declined in recent years due to an increase in overall global awareness,
it nevertheless continues to be a pressing concern. A study performed by the Minister of
Environmental Affairs for South Africa found that 2015 was the deadliest year for rhinos in
decades, with 1,305 killed (Minister Edna Molewa, 2016). One environmental group that works to
prevent poaching is the World Wildlife Fund, or WWF. The WWF is particularly known for their

It is also essential to define and differentiate the terms animal poaching and illegal animal trade.
Animal poaching can best be understood as the unlawful taking or killing of animals, and illegal
animal trade is a business that is dependent on animal poaching, which consists of using poached
animals to make various profitable products such as food, leather goods, medicine, and
miscellaneous souvenirs (U.S. Fish Wildlife Service). The history of animal poaching goes back to
the beginnings of what could be considered modern society. Up until the twentieth century,
poaching was a way for impoverished lower classes to make up for the inadequate amounts of food
that they could afford, and was eventually made illegal in order to reserve hunting as an activity
exclusive to the upper class (Encyclopedia Brittanica). Once the field of wildlife conservation began
to gain influence in the 1900s, nations across the globe began implementing acts to prevent harmful
practices from continuing (Shadow). Despite government involvement, poaching has continued into
the present day due to the high value of items such as ivory and rhino horns (Lawson Vines, 5). It is
with the knowledge of these definitions and the long history of animal poaching that the World
Wildlife Foundation developed this advertising campaign. There are multiple components that make
up the advertisement under analysis here stand out, one being the setting

Battle Of Iwo Jima Essay
The battle of Iwo Jima is one of the great and epic battles entrenched in minds of many American
historians. It is an eminent battle that took place in February and March 1945 as part of the
pacific campaign during the famous World War II. It was an epic battle in which the Unites
States armed forces fought tirelessly and seized the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese empire.
It was expected to be a small battle to secure a strategy piece of the island, but it turned out to be
one of the lethal and devastating battles of all times. There were many hidden reasons for the battle
of Iwo Jima, but both countries were tangled to the idea of capturing the Iwo Jima Island and
surrounding territories. Japanese saw the island as a great way to stop the Americans bombing
campaign. Evidently, Iwo Jima was located under the flight path for several B 29 bombers used
by Americans in air attack; hence taking control of the island will make it easy to see the imminent
attacks. Destroying the B 29 bombers presented a great chance to control the island and overwhelm
the U.S troops. On the other side, the island was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

strengths came from the ground troops as it was challenging to use air assault. The underground
tunnels were as success for the Japanese as they acted as a great holding out location. The
bombing by the Americans also made it easy to dig deeper and erect anti aircraft artillery. The
Battle of Iwo Jima was indeed overwhelming as the Americans had a team of 70,000 well trained
soldiers, vast air and naval power and immeasurable communication technology. Surprisingly,
21,000 Japanese troops were able to hold a much huge American force. Most of the Japanese

In addition to taking the Cape Breton championship that year, the Post Bombers captured the

Stockholm Syndrome Typology
Stockholm Syndrome typically happens under a situation in which a victim is put under extreme
duress; situations such as kidnapping and hostage taking, among other situations. When put under
such duress, a victim will [typically] adjust themselves into survival mode ; in other words, they
change their behavior to help them survive.
One of these adjustments may end up to what they call Stockholm Syndrome. Stockholm Syndrome
is when the victim acclimates to the situation and develops a positive relationship with their captor.
Temporarily, in a hostage situation, this is great because a positive relationship between the two (or
more) can help increase the time of the incident, which mean that the hostage may escaped
unscathed.

There are several different typologies of hostage takers. However, there are three main types of
hostage takers that are dominant throughout the typologies. These three typologies would be the

Firstly, there are the mentally ill hostage takers. Out of all of the three hostage takers, the mentally

Seven Years War Analysis
Canada is a well known country for it s diverse residents, powerful economy, civilized citizens
but more significantly its peaceful population and although Canada s reputation has been highly
respected, the 1700s was an era which is only remembered for it s greed for power and it s

Firstly, one of the most horrific practises of the world of assimilation, where one is forced to

their true beliefs to be erased is completely barbaric, but was one of the events that occurred in

strong believe in technological effectiveness is associated with engaging in proactive scanning).
Through those linkages Nag and Gioia were able to draw tree knowledge pathways. The knowledge
adaption pathways describe the track how managerial distinctions emerge to knowledge adaption.
The knowledge augmentation pathways describe the way to the augmentation of knowledge and
the third track describes how it happens that uncommon knowledge is not used.
In the knowledge adaption pathways executives consider knowledge as most important for
operational efficiency. They believe it s hard to obtain from external sources and they have
confidence in their own knowledge but limited trust in workers knowledge. They are scan ning
intensively for knowledge and personally they had a greater share in knowledge work. Firms on
that pathway are adapting knowledge and come more likely to an incremental development.
In contrast described before in the knowledge augmentation pathways leaders have a strong
confidence on own knowledge, on workers capabilities and they believe their know ledge is
distinctive and hard to imitate for competitors. Therefore they are scanning pro actively and
engaging others to knowledge work. These companies use uncommon know ledge through
augmentation. Radical innovations are more likely in those companies.
On the path for no uncommon knowledge use the executives contribute knowledge mostly to raise

John Stewart Daily Show Analysis
Not a Laughing Matter: The Negative Effects of Satirical News When Jon Stewart announced his
retirement from The Daily Show in 2015, headlines lamented the end of reason in the news. A New
Yorker article declared that The last hope for bringing some rationality to the 2016 Presidential
field died (Sorkin). In other instances, Jon Stewarthas been compared to Walter Cronkite and
Edward Murrow, who are famed for not only their voices that reached out to the nation but also
their journalism that changed the tide of the politics of their time. One may ask how a
professional comedian ended up in the ranks of such well respected names in reporting, or how he
came to be the most trusted man in America in the first place. Jon Stewart began on The Daily Show

Following the 2016 presidential election, this political action took the form of protest and
marching. The Women s March could be seen as an example of people motivated by fear and
anger to go out on the streets in millions to voice their disapproval of the other side . Reporting
by satirical news shows not only may have played a role in prompting the negative feelings but
also explicitly encouraged the protest. In The Daily Show episode following Trump s inauguration
and the Women s March, Trevor Noah celebrated the protest, saying, the one silver lining of a
Donald Trump presidency; unity. Everyone is teaming up against him . Words like these can have a
strong influence on the millions of viewers. They imply that not only should one be strongly
against Donald Trump, but the best way to voice this disapproval is not through productive
discourse with the opposing side, but by teaming up against

Decolonization Of India Dbq Analysis
In the years leading to full decolonization, both Asian and African nations achieved independence
during the mid 20th century. With the help of peace and violence, these nations became
decolonized. In Asian areas, India was prominent to serve economic balance and independence.
Mahatma Gandhi believed that with economic independence, Indiawould be have an uplift within
every individual. Mahatma Ghandi spoke that their decolonization must not imitate the wrong, for
example, the Nazi rule in Germany or the ones in Britian. Basically, the cause of wanting
independence in India was due to the British. The consequence of leaving the British s ways is that
some help/aid would now be gone and India must now find their own way of developing the

Within Africa, nations were trying to achieve independence with some achieving it easially.
Most of Africa s nations share a consequence: weakness. This weakness, before decolonization,
Patrice Lumumba, who is the Prime Minster of Congo, believes that Congo was prematurealy
mocked, weakened, and partially dominated. Patrice believes that just because of their skin
color, that was not an reason to be treated like the way they are treated now (Doc 4). Nkrumah
Kwame, who was the president of the first nation to be decolonized in Africa, assumes the fact
that many other African nations were struggling, weak, and helpless. With the fragmentation
continuing, the outcome of the nations would be disastrous. He sites that South Africa is very
wealth, but South Africa is also weak. This shows that hope is currently not on thier side, as a
whole (Doc 5). Nelson Mandela was one of the largest known people that made a difference in
Africa. Nelson, who was later tried due to revolts, believes that what he did for his people was
not wrong. Infact, he believes that the whites are causing the problems againsts the blacks.
Nelson tries to stop using peaceful revolts, but was later accused of planning to sabotage. In the
situation he is in, it was hard to gain decolonization, but it was later gained (Doc 6). Assia Djebar,
who grew up in Algeria which was still trying to decolonize, figured that new pictures form while

The company is considered to be one of German s big 3 manufactures of luxury automobiles
along with BMW and Audi. The three manufacturers currently dominate the world market for
luxury cars. Over the past years, Mercedes Benz has been seen to engage in activities aimed at
increasing its global presence. The company has been seen to open franchises in Asia, Europe,
and the Middle East in order to take advantage of the rapid economic growth in the regions. The
company has also been seen to keenly monitor its African market. It has opened a franchise in
Egypt to help it conduct business with Africa more efficiently and effectively. In 2014 alone,
Mercedes Benz sold 2.5 million cars.
Besides the manufacture of automobiles, the company also offers financial services. It performs
this role through the help of Daimler Financial Services AG. The arm of the organization has aided
the company to further penetrate the Middle East market. In 2009, Mercedes Benz announced the
official opening of Mercedes Benz Leasing Middle East and Mercedes Benz Finance Middle East.

Boeing Based On My Real World Job With The Federal...
For this assignment, my decision to write about Boeing is based on my real world job with the
Federal Aviation Administration and the fact that I process pounds of mail from them on a weekly
basis.
Company History
The story of Boeing started in a Seattle, WA shipyard in March 1910, but the company didn t get its
official start until July 1916. Throughout Boeing s history, it has been closely associated with
military aviation, through its early foray into air mail delivery eventually gave birth to United
Airlines in 1934 (A Century in the Sky, 2015). Boeing aircraft and support of allied forces during
World War II was a key asset in bringing the war to a close and kept the skies in the Korean War

Finally in 2009, the 787, designed to be the most efficient aircraft ever, made its maiden flight
(Commercial Airplanes, 2015).
Competitors
Speaking strictly about the commercial airliner market, Boeing s only competitor is Airbus. Setting
the stage for the duopoly that was created, Rockwell International sold North American Aviation
and Rocketdyne to Boeing in 1996 and McDonnell Douglas was wholly absorbed in 1997 (The
Boeing Company History, 2000). Across the Atlantic, three of the four founding companies that
comprised the Airbus consortium (created in 1969) merged together to form the European
Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EADS). In 2014, EADS was renamed as the Airbus
Group, with Airbus (its airline production arm) as a division of the group (Weiss).
Innovation and Performance Boeing maintains its competitive advantage and market share through
trademarks, copyrights, patents, and trade secrets obtained through steady research and
development. Even though the protection of intellectual property is important to Boeing, it
routinely contacts and licenses out the rights to various properties within its catalog (Jewell, 2014).
Its newest aircraft project, the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, has more than 1,000 new patents that have
the potential to have major impacts on how Boeing builds and designs new aircraft in the years to
come. In 2010, Boeing was ranked

The Importance Of Culture And Organizational Culture
The importance of culture in the organization
The organization culture as a leadership concept has been identified as one of the many components
that leaders can use to grow a dynamic organization. Leadership in organizations starts the culture
formation process by imposing their assumptions and expectations on their followers. Once culture
is established and accepted, they become a strong leadership tool to communicate the leader s
beliefs and values to organizational members, and especially new comers. When leaders promote
ethical culture, they become successful in maintaining organizational growth, the good services
demanded by the society, the ability to address problems before they become disasters and
consequently are competitive against rivals. The leader s success will depend to a large extent, on
his knowledge and understanding of the organizational culture. The leader who understands his
organizational culture and takes it seriously is capable of predicting the outcome of his decisions in
preventing any anticipated consequences. What then is organizational culture? The concept of
organizational culture has been defined from many perspectives in the literature. There is no one
single definition for organizational culture. The topic of organizational culture has been studied
from many perspectives and disciplines, such as anthropology, sociology, organizational behavior,
and organizational leadership to name a few. Deal defines organizational culture as values,

Cyber Crimes And The Crime
Abstract Law Enforcement have always been tasked with having to evolve with the trends in
crime throughout history. Unfortunately for Law Enforcement, they are always on the back end
of that and are often behind for months before being able to counteract. Cyber crimes are no
different. Cyber Crimes are a new and always developing form of crimethat bases its entire agenda
from taking advantage of its victims over the internet. Law Enforcement s job is to assess and
work to stop these crimes but it s not that easy. These cyber crimes are heavily in the favor of the
criminals and the lack of assistance to Law Enforcement makes it harder for them. The scams are
always changing and the costs are adding up as Law Enforcement takes on Cyber crimes.
Introduction Cyber crimes, as defined by dictionary.com, are criminal activity or a crime that
involves the internet, a computer system, or computer technology. Cyber Crimes may occur all
over the globe, but the scene of the crime shares one common location, the internet. Law
Enforcement has been tasked with bringing an end to this digital dilemma and they have started
by going to war. The war on Cyber crimes is a term used to designate the efforts of Law
Enforcement to go against these sly criminals. There are many different forms of these crimes, such
as some come in forms of scams and others are ushered in by hackers. The shocking part is the
statistics that come along with these crimes and the amount of money that

Modified Red Blood Cells Essay
As a potential tool to optimize the delivery of therapeutics via the cardiovascular system,
researchers are looking to erythrocytes as an abundant and versatile drug delivery platform. There
seems to be a consensus in the biomedical community that modified red blood cells (RBCs) have
great potential to add to the safety, effectiveness, and specificity of therapeutics and other
interventions. RBCs have already been shown to interact with more than fifty known drugs that
have been approved by the FDA, and may be unintentionally serving as a natural compartment that
affects; biodistribution, metabolism, and the pharmacokinetics of many commonly prescribed
medications. As seen in figure 1, RBCs are enucleated, biconcave discs that are... Show more

A major downside to this method is a lack of therapeutic isolation from the body which makes this
approach a poor choice for targeted delivery. Another complication with this method is that the
coupled therapeutic might cause an unintended immune response. The major benefit associated
with coupling therapeutics to the surface of RBCs is that it is possible to perform the procedure in
the patient s cardiovascular system. Once injected, the therapeutics with conjugated RBC targeting
ligands will form covalent chemical cross linkers with a receptor on the extracellular surface of the
RBC. In doing so, the trouble of having to extract RBCs, treat them, and ultimately reintroduce
them back into the patient s cardiovascular system is avoided. Also, by coupling the therapeutics to
the RBCs membrane, this approach avoids the damage that can occur during the encapsulation
method which will be discussed next. (Muzykantov)
The alternative method of loading RBCs, involves encapsulating the therapeutics inside the cell.
While there are multiple methods for coaxing the cell to uptake a therapeutic, there appears to be a
consensus that osmosis driven entrapment is the method that does the least amount of damage to
the cell membrane. This method takes advantage of an interesting biochemical feature of red blood
cells and can be viewed in figure 2. When RBCs are put in a hypotonic solution

Persuasive Essay On The Cold War
Who remembers the horrors of World War II with Hitler and the Holocaust? Hitler was ruthless and
destructive and his actions inexcusable. Our good friend Stalin notably came to our aid near the
end of the War to which we are immensely grateful. However, we must not let this fact blind us of
the current situation. The Soviet Unioncontinues to claim Eastern Europeas protection from German
aggression; however, they are spreading an alarming amount of communist control and we need
to get involved. I m sure I can speak on behalf of all of us that we do not want a repeat of the
mentioned event. In order to maintain peace in Europe and the world, the best course of action to
prevent a nuclear war would be for the U.N. to end the spread of Communism by isolating Russia
and bringing the communist nations to our side by giving them foreign aid. Right now we face a
political war that has evolved militarily. We are a free, democratic organization fighting against a
communist party that is rapidly spreading their influence in Europe and creating dissension all over.
The Iron Curtainrepresents not only this ideological barrier, but has come to be a physical matter.
The military standoff on the Iron Curtain threatens the safety and security of Europe as well as
creates a division in the continent and between the nations. With the Iron Curtain in effect, Stalin
has broken our agreements made in the Yalta conference and maintains complete control over the
nations in Eastern Europe. These

The Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis
Developing Horror
Horror is fiction that scares the audience or gives an eerie mood. Each short story develops horror
is its own way. The Tell Tale Heart is about how an old man is murdered because of his evil vulture
eye. A Rose for Emily is about how an old woman poisoned her lover to keep him from leaving.
The Lottery is about how this town has a drawing to see who will be the sacrifice to the crops.
Horror is developed in The Tell Tale Heart, A Rose for Emily, and The Lottery with many elements
of horror.
First, horror is developed in The Tell Tale Heart by the insanity of the narrator. The narrator
believes he is a sane person, but contradicted himself when he kills the old man. This creates a
complex in the character s mind. When the police shows because the neighbors heard a yell, he
begins to hear the old man s heartbeat, but his guilt consumes him and he confesses to murdering
the old man and putting his body underneath the floorboards. Also, in the beginning of the story,
the narrator describes why he wants to kill the old man. It was impossible to say how first the
idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and night (Para. 2). His insane idea
of killing the old man because of his vulture eye pops into his thoughts without a preconceived
notion of doing so. The murder is premeditated and thought out as each night he cracks the door
open and glares the lantern directly at the vulture eye. The insanity of the narrator develops The Tell
Tale Heart into horror.
Next, horror is developed in A Rose for Emily by the southern gothic elements. Emily s
psychological issues depict a twisted turn in the story. When Emily keeps her father s body in
her house for three days after he died, it sets up for a future turn of events. After she dies, the
town women go to her house, but when they get to her house and go inside; they discover her
lover petrified in the upstairs room. The man himself lay in the bed. For a long while we just
stood there, looking down at the profound and fleshless grin (Para. 58). Homer, her lover and
husband to be, was dead in the bed. Emily poisoned him because she did not want him to leave
again, so she could keep him forever. She is

  • 4. I, By The Audience Experienced The Journey Of Chris Ladd In the short film i , the audience experienced the journey of Chris Ladd as he worked to determine his true identity. His journey reflected the change in ideas and measurement of personality over time. He ultimately concluded that there isn t a way to label one s own identity, but rather all measurements are simply descriptors. To arrive at this conclusion he partook in the three major methods of personality study: Subjective, Objective and BLIS Data Inventories. Through these tests, it was present that though major themes were continued throughout the process for Ladd, each measurement gave a different and incomplete answer. This led me to believe that if I were to also study my own identity, I would use similar but look at the results through a different lens, specifically one of introspection. Ladd began his journey with projective /subjective methods, which was completed through the use of a psychic. He was critical of this methodology from the beginning, mainly due to its founding in Freud and the lack of reliability in the studies. This is alluded to in the film with the variability of answers to Rorschach Tests, which can be interpreted differently by a patient each time, and the administrator can also interpret the answers differently each time. When the psychic made a computing error, it acted as a self fulfilling prophecy for Chris, and he even pointed out that her predictions for his future fall in line with general hopes, such as living in a nice apartment in ... • 5. Covert Vs Overt Attention Every day we are faced with numerous visual inputs and our brain needs to filter and select the information of interest. This selection can be achieved either endogenously (top down, guided by behavioural goal) or exogenously (bottom up, guided by salient visual event) (Posner Cohen, 1980). Endogenous and exogenous shift of attention can be directed to the visual stimuli either accompanied with eye and/or head movement referred as overt attention or independently of any gaze movement referred as covert attention (Findlay Gilchrist, 2003). The relationship between covert and overt attention has been the subject of numerous studies in the past decades, and behavioural as well as neurophysiological data suggest that both are tightly coupled. One influential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Spatial attention is assumed to arise from an activation of the brain map that transforms spatial information into movement representations (Rizzolatti Craighero, 1998). Thus, the shift of visual attention would rely on the programming of a saccadic eye movement, whether this movement is actually executed (overt attention) or not (covert attention). In the lab, one classical paradigm used to study the covert shift of spatial attention is the cueing paradigm, where participants are asked to fixate a central point while a predictive cue is briefly flashed to direct their attention towards a peripheral target (Posner, Snyder, Davidson, 1980). Classical results obtained with this paradigm reveal that the location of the cue modulates the visual perception of the spatial location even without making any eye movement. Indeed when the cue is valid, that is when it provides correct information on the location of the upcoming target participants perform better compared to conditions where the cue in invalid. ... Sometimes the play is given within a few numbers of weeks before the play so they will rush the rehearsals and often miss the polishing part, so they are prone to make mistakes during the play. Lot of theatre arts actors, play write don t actually get money from these theatre arts. They just do this thing for their hobby and because it is their passion to do. That is one disadvantage of theatre arts. Actually you don t make a lot of money in theatre because it is only just a thing that you do passionately when you are a part of theatre arts. • 12. Freudian Slip Theory Essay Introduction Freudian slip theory was originally created by Sigmund Freud. He was an Austrian neurologist and was better known as the founder of psychoanalysis (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis can be defined as a set of psychological theories which includes the Freudian slip theory. He believed that everyone possess an unconscious mind, feelings, desires and memories in their lifetime. It is to be said that peoples will bring their unconscious content on their mind to their conscious awareness and people will be able to experience catharsis and gain insight into their current state of mind. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1981, Erdelyi found a Freudian slip in an article criticizing Freudian ideas. Erdelyi had previously written an article titled: Let us not sweep repression under the rug, a title which was itself a play on words. But when Loftus and Loftus (1980) cited the paper, while arguing against repressed memories, they rendered the title as, Let us now sweep repression under the rug. To Erdelyi, that was exactly what they were trying to do, so he saw this error as an amusing Freudian slip. In contrast, there are evidence that proves Freudian slips is unavoidable and peoples will correct it if they say it or wrote it wrongly. It is clear that slips and mistake are two different things as if ones who make a mistake and instantly he/she will correct it, that will be the slips of tongue or pen but if ones kept on making the same mistakes over and over again and he/she does not know how to correct it, obviously that is a mistake made by the person. The Third of May 1808 was completed by Francisco Goya in 1814, greatly inspired by the Peninsular war. Gassed was completed by John Singer Sargent in 1919, influenced by the first world war. The Plan For An Integrative Negotiation Introduction Negotiation is the process whereby people attempt to settle what each shall give and take or perform and receive in a transaction between them as defined by Rubin and Brown (as quoted in Stoshikj, 2014, p. 32). This action is usually held between two parties or more in order to discover a common ground or reach a mutual agreement. It has come under the company s attention that there are some unresolved issues regarding several different concerns such as air pollution, water contamination and council land rates on company land in Mortlake, Queensland. Strategy Implemented Overall, the integrative strategy will be implemented in most of the negotiating process. Van Boven and Thompson (as cited in Dong Won, 2010) indicated that when both parties are involved in an integrative negotiation, they get a more exact idea of what the other party desires and increasing the possibility of mutual gain (p. 2). Furthermore, Pruitt; Thompson (as cited in Han, Kwon, Bae Park, 2012) mentioned that the negotiators are able to benefit from the win win situation, meanwhile preserving the relationship (p. 1). While both parties are trying to resolve the current issues, maintaining a strong relationship is more important as both parties are reliant on each other. Effect Of Lowering The Freezing Point Of Water Nayla Epps, Mirsha Pierre and Malia Shields Honors Chemistry Period 2 Group:11 Topic:Lowering the Freezing Point of Water Due Date: 10/6/17 Background Research The scientists topic sentence is the freezing point point of water will decrease depending on the amount of solute used in the solvent. In this case it is water. The problem statement is How much solute is needed in cvde to decrease the freezing point of water. The independent variable is the amount of solute and the dependent variable is the temperature at the point when the water will freeze. There is no constant variable, the controlled variable is no solute (water only). The scientist s hypothesis is if there is more solute added to the water, then the water s freezing point will decrease based on the number of grams of solute. To test the hypothesis the scientists will constantly add more salt/sugar to the water to see how much freezing point decreases per gram. In order to lower the temperature at which water freezes you would need salt. When you add salt to ice the ice would melt and surprisingly get colder. Scientist prove salt lowers the freezing point of water. From scientist we learned that salt will lower the freezing point of water. Adding salt to an ice cube will make the ice cube melt. As the ice cube melts, energy is being used to separate bonds in the solid state. Breaking down salt in water causes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Trent Bridge The Veteran s Skyway Gateway to the Trent Bridge In the early 1990s, the aging swing bridge crossing the Trent River in Trenton, Ontario was replaced with a continuous span steel box girder bridge. The unique part of this process was that the new bridge was built adjacent to the existing swing bridge and slid laterally into place; this was the first time in North America that this technique had been done. The process consisted of five mains steps; first, the planning of such an undertaking, second, deciding on how to proceed, third, constructing the new bridge on site, fourth, removing the old swing bridge, and finally, sliding the new bridge into place, all the while ensuring minimal impact to the vehicular traffic through town and ... Thus, City councillors, working with the Ontario Ministry of Transportation and engineers from Declan Corporation of Toronto, conceived the plan of building a new bridge adjacent to the swing bridge, and later sliding it into place (Anderson Trenkler, 1991). But, before the construction of the new bridge could commence, engineers had to reverse the direction of the swing rotation of the existing bridge, as it swung directly towards the site the new bridge would be built and would impede on the construction process (Anderson Trenkler, 1991). Once the planning was finalized and the site prepped, construction could begin. In the spring of 1989, the construction of the new bridge began. The base of the Trent River was a flotilla of barges carrying the workers, cranes and equipment needed to prepare the temporary pillars that would support the new bridge, as well as maneuver the huge steel girders into place for the new bridge. It was an awesome sight for the entire town, as we watched barges float the steel girders into the harbour, one section being 74 meters in length and two more that were 54 metres each. • 26. Albert Bandura Theory As the pioneering social learning theorist in the 1960s, Albert Bandura refuted the common belief that studying thoughts and emotions was unscientific. He was adamant that although one could not see these internal processes, they were still important to study. He has proven that to understand children, we must first understand their cognitive processes and the ways in which they think and reason. In my opinion, one of Bandura s most underrated theories is his study of the effects that exposure to violencehas on children. I believe that it has shaped the way many of us think about what children are witnessing, and is vital in this time where most children have constant access to technology. Bandura extensively studied modeling; he believed that children learn by watching. This applies to a variety of circumstances. For example, children learn how to behave in a social setting by watching the interactions of their peers. Children also learn through symbolic models, like stories and television. He also proposed the idea of no model learning; a child can watch someone else do something and replicate it perfectly on their first try, without ever having been formally taught. In what seems to me like a natural progression of thought, Bandura next wondered that if children absorb what they are seeing effortlessly, how are they be affected by seeing negative things, such as violence or rough behavior? In Theories of Development, William Crain (2005) describes a study Bandura conducted in 1965. Four year olds were individually shown a movie with one of three endings. In all three, the model beat up a Bobo doll. In the first, the model was praised and rewarded for doing this. In the second, the model was reprimanded and punished for his actions. And in the third, the model was neither rewarded nor punished. The children were put in a room with a Bobo doll. Those who had seen the first and third versions of the movie imitated the model many more instances that those who had seen the second version. This indicates that while seeing a model punished will make an activity less desirable, and seeing a model rewarded will made it more desirable, seeing the model neither punished nor rewarded will make the activity just as ... • 27. The Classical Realism And Constructivist Theory Terrorism has many forms. Though society knows many of its vicious faces, little does the world acknowledge that these terror spurred events are often encouraged and sponsored through the politics of well known nations. I will be applying both the classical realism and constructivist theory to highlight ways in which the constructivist perspective better addresses state sponsored terrorisms effect on global relations. Classical realism focuses on the interactions of state players. There are three main components to the classical realist perspective; state centrism, rationality, and power. State sponsored terrorism is controlled by state actors to achieve the goal of political gain. In such instances, countries which perceive themselves as the victims (Demir 47) of some global injustice support acts of violence to motivate change by fear. Terrorism itself poses an issue for the realist paradigm as its main actors are non state. Though it is the response and decisions of state players that dictate the outcome on interactions between nations, non state actors participate in the actual acts of terror. Non state actors (NSA) are organizations, or individuals, that hold political influence, but have no standing as a country. Terrorist groups are a subset of NSA s who use violence and scare tactics against non combatant targets to bring about political manipulation. Animal poaching can best be understood as the unlawful taking or killing of animals, and illegal animal trade is a business that is dependent on animal poaching, which consists of using poached animals to make various profitable products such as food, leather goods, medicine, and miscellaneous souvenirs (U.S. Fish Wildlife Service). The history of animal poaching goes back to the beginnings of what could be considered modern society. Up until the twentieth century, poaching was a way for impoverished lower classes to make up for the inadequate amounts of food that they could afford, and was eventually made illegal in order to reserve hunting as an activity exclusive to the upper class (Encyclopedia Brittanica). Once the field of wildlife conservation began to gain influence in the 1900s, nations across the globe began implementing acts to prevent harmful practices from continuing (Shadow). Despite government involvement, poaching has continued into the present day due to the high value of items such as ivory and rhino horns (Lawson Vines, 5). It is an eminent battle that took place in February and March 1945 as part of the pacific campaign during the famous World War II. It was an epic battle in which the Unites States armed forces fought tirelessly and seized the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese empire. It was expected to be a small battle to secure a strategy piece of the island, but it turned out to be one of the lethal and devastating battles of all times. There were many hidden reasons for the battle of Iwo Jima, but both countries were tangled to the idea of capturing the Iwo Jima Island and surrounding territories. Japanese saw the island as a great way to stop the Americans bombing campaign. Evidently, Iwo Jima was located under the flight path for several B 29 bombers used by Americans in air attack; hence taking control of the island will make it easy to see the imminent attacks. Law Enforcement s job is to assess and work to stop these crimes but it s not that easy. These cyber crimes are heavily in the favor of the criminals and the lack of assistance to Law Enforcement makes it harder for them. The scams are always changing and the costs are adding up as Law Enforcement takes on Cyber crimes. Introduction Cyber crimes, as defined by dictionary.com, are criminal activity or a crime that involves the internet, a computer system, or computer technology. Cyber Crimes may occur all over the globe, but the scene of the crime shares one common location, the internet. Law Enforcement has been tasked with bringing an end to this digital dilemma and they have started by going to war. The war on Cyber crimes is a term used to designate the efforts of Law Enforcement to go against these sly criminals. There are many different forms of these crimes, such as some come in forms of scams and others are ushered in by hackers. The shocking part is the statistics that come along with these crimes and the amount of money that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Modified Red Blood Cells Essay As a potential tool to optimize the delivery of therapeutics via the cardiovascular system, researchers are looking to erythrocytes as an abundant and versatile drug delivery platform. There seems to be a consensus in the biomedical community that modified red blood cells (RBCs) have great potential to add to the safety, effectiveness, and specificity of therapeutics and other interventions. RBCs have already been shown to interact with more than fifty known drugs that have been approved by the FDA, and may be unintentionally serving as a natural compartment that affects; biodistribution, metabolism, and the pharmacokinetics of many commonly prescribed medications. As seen in figure 1, RBCs are enucleated, biconcave discs that are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A major downside to this method is a lack of therapeutic isolation from the body which makes this approach a poor choice for targeted delivery. Another complication with this method is that the coupled therapeutic might cause an unintended immune response. The major benefit associated with coupling therapeutics to the surface of RBCs is that it is possible to perform the procedure in the patient s cardiovascular system. Once injected, the therapeutics with conjugated RBC targeting ligands will form covalent chemical cross linkers with a receptor on the extracellular surface of the RBC. In doing so, the trouble of having to extract RBCs, treat them, and ultimately reintroduce them back into the patient s cardiovascular system is avoided. Also, by coupling the therapeutics to the RBCs membrane, this approach avoids the damage that can occur during the encapsulation method which will be discussed next. (Muzykantov) The alternative method of loading RBCs, involves encapsulating the therapeutics inside the cell. While there are multiple methods for coaxing the cell to uptake a therapeutic, there appears to be a consensus that osmosis driven entrapment is the method that does the least amount of damage to the cell membrane. This method takes advantage of an interesting biochemical feature of red blood cells and can be viewed in figure 2. When RBCs are put in a hypotonic solution ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. Persuasive Essay On The Cold War Who remembers the horrors of World War II with Hitler and the Holocaust? Hitler was ruthless and destructive and his actions inexcusable. Our good friend Stalin notably came to our aid near the end of the War to which we are immensely grateful. However, we must not let this fact blind us of the current situation. The Soviet Unioncontinues to claim Eastern Europeas protection from German aggression; however, they are spreading an alarming amount of communist control and we need to get involved. I m sure I can speak on behalf of all of us that we do not want a repeat of the mentioned event. In order to maintain peace in Europe and the world, the best course of action to prevent a nuclear war would be for the U.N. to end the spread of Communism by isolating Russia and bringing the communist nations to our side by giving them foreign aid. Right now we face a political war that has evolved militarily. We are a free, democratic organization fighting against a communist party that is rapidly spreading their influence in Europe and creating dissension all over. The Iron Curtainrepresents not only this ideological barrier, but has come to be a physical matter. The military standoff on the Iron Curtain threatens the safety and security of Europe as well as creates a division in the continent and between the nations. With the Iron Curtain in effect, Stalin has broken our agreements made in the Yalta conference and maintains complete control over the nations in Eastern Europe. These ... • 56. The Tell Tale Heart Literary Analysis Developing Horror Horror is fiction that scares the audience or gives an eerie mood. Each short story develops horror is its own way. The Tell Tale Heart is about how an old man is murdered because of his evil vulture eye. A Rose for Emily is about how an old woman poisoned her lover to keep him from leaving. The Lottery is about how this town has a drawing to see who will be the sacrifice to the crops. Horror is developed in The Tell Tale Heart, A Rose for Emily, and The Lottery with many elements of horror. First, horror is developed in The Tell Tale Heart by the insanity of the narrator. The narrator believes he is a sane person, but contradicted himself when he kills the old man. This creates a complex in the character s mind. When the police shows because the neighbors heard a yell, he begins to hear the old man s heartbeat, but his guilt consumes him and he confesses to murdering the old man and putting his body underneath the floorboards. Also, in the beginning of the story, the narrator describes why he wants to kill the old man. It was impossible to say how first the idea entered my brain; but once conceived, it haunted me day and night (Para. 2). His insane idea of killing the old man because of his vulture eye pops into his thoughts without a preconceived notion of doing so. The murder is premeditated and thought out as each night he cracks the door open and glares the lantern directly at the vulture eye. The insanity of the narrator develops The Tell Tale Heart into horror. Next, horror is developed in A Rose for Emily by the southern gothic elements. Emily s psychological issues depict a twisted turn in the story. When Emily keeps her father s body in her house for three days after he died, it sets up for a future turn of events. After she dies, the town women go to her house, but when they get to her house and go inside; they discover her lover petrified in the upstairs room. The man himself lay in the bed. For a long while we just stood there, looking down at the profound and fleshless grin (Para. 58). Homer, her lover and husband to be, was dead in the bed. Emily poisoned him because she did not want him to leave again, so she could keep him forever. She is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
