Essay about Maximus and Odysseus
Maximus and Odysseus
While watching the film Gladiator with my girlfriend I realized the striking similarities that heroes
share. However, I always wonder who is more of a hero. The definition or hero is a person noted
for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life.
So let us compare the two heroes as the dictionary defines them. In the end I hope to be able to
define who is a greater hero.
Maximus was a great warrior in the Roman legion under Emperor Marcus Aurelius. His first
courageous feat occurs when he defeats the last of the Barbarians of Germaina. Leading his army
along a 12 year campaign he brought it to an end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although they are opposite ends of the spectrum, they both must go from one extreme to the other
to get to the end of their story.
Starting with Odysseus courageous efforts he first defeats the Trojans at the battle of Troy with
the wooden horse. Much like Maximus his story begins with him winning a great war that has
gone on for years. Odysseus must use his intellect more so than his brute strength, such as when
he escapes the Cyclops. Unlike Maximus Odysseus makes the mistake right off the bat of
revealing his name to the Cyclops when he is leaving, thus he cannot return home yet because
he hasn t become a nobody yet. The reoccurring theme between the two that I see is that the must
reach a certain state before the end of their story can take place. Odysseus has to become a plain
man not a war hero, and Maximus must win the crowd over and they need to know who is so he
cannot be slain in the dungeons. In his last great show of strength Odysseus strings a bow and kills
the suitors that were trying to steal his wife from him while he was gone.
Odysseus finally reaches his home in the end and yes becomes that nobody that we so often
mention. His journey home was filled with trials much like Maximus was. Odysseus suffered the
wrath of the gods, cannibals, giants and even had to wrestle Poseidon. Maximus had to fight in the
coliseum against outrageous odds, battling with live tigers nipping at his heels, and ultimately in
the end he

Churches Should Not Be Divided
Why Churches Should Not Be So Divided
One of the core values in Christianity is to love one another like Christ loved us, but us as
Christians can t even seem to love each other in our own churches. Let alone other churches.
In a world already divided so greatly, we as Christians should strive to establish more unity and do
away with so much division within our own churches.
Let s face it, Christians don t necessarily have the best rep. There are major news stories of
Christian bakers refusing to bake a cake for a same sex couple. You can watch videos such as this
one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIqJYqBrbI4 , where random people are asked their
opinion on Christianity and there are certainly people with unfavorable views on ... Show more

But most doctrine. People are certainly concerned about how the stigma of not being tied to one
certain set of beliefs affects the church as a whole. I believe that this is a problem within churches
with denominations as well. I currently attend a Baptist Church. I attend Trinity Baptist Church to
be precise. I grew up in the Baptist church and am a born again Christian familiar with the beliefs
and ideology of the Baptist branch of Protestant Christianity. So you may be wondering, why I
would be criticizing the very branch of religion I associate myself with. Or why I criticize any
denomination of Christianity in general. It is not as much that I am against the idea of people
having different perspectives of the same religion, or different ways to tell the same story, if you
will. It is more or less my wish to ease or even put an end to the compartmentalization of ourselves
within our own denominations and churches. A post from Starting Point puts in
Walker 3 into great words, During Jesus ministry, he prayed that his future followers would exhibit
a special kind of unity that would be a testimony to the world. So what happened? Rather than unity,
harmony, and cooperation, Christians are often known for their squabbles and divisions. Even
when they appear to get along, they divide up into hundreds of different groups, churches, and
denominations. For those who are not Christians, it seems

The Treatment Of The Surgical Setting
The surgical setting is very different from the generalized floors that I have become accustomed
to. The exposure I had today included observing the operating room setting, the PACU, and the
exchange of patient care to a generalized or outpatient floor. In preparation for my clinical day I
had finished the module readings relating to peri operative care which I found useful because I had
a base knowledge of information to build upon. I selected one patient to gather information from
which included his surgery, patient information, and care he received in the different stages of the
surgical process.
Patient Data
Patient JC is a 63 year old male, he is Caucasian and is not Hispanic. He presented to the
emergency room on Monday April 4th after noticing pain, swelling, and a blue tint to his left fifth
digit. He has a history of hyperlipidemia, GERD, cardiac disorder, osteoarthritis, hematuria,
prostate cancer (resolved), and hammer syndrome. He has dentures and partial vision loss in both
eyes. JC is a construction worker. The patient s current problem with his left fifth digit is believed
to come from his history of hypothenar hammer syndrome. Hypothenar hammer syndrome is
caused by repeated use of the palm of the hand, such as when you use a hammer to push or grind
objects. This can result in damage of certain blood vessels in hand, especially the ulnar artery. This
artery goes through the hypothenar area of the palm and supplies blood to the fingers, damage to

The Is A Successful Sports Team Loses Its Place
Sometimes, a historically successful sports team loses its place. This may happen suddenly
without apparent cause, or gradually as stars age and are unable to be replaced. One such
professional team that appears to be going through this process, at least to me, is the 2015
Seattle Seahawks. They ve been to the Super Bowl two years in a row and seemed poised for yet
another superlative season at the beginning of the year. Yet, through seven games they ve been
nothing if not mediocre. What has caused this drop in production? The Seahawks didn t lose
many key players during the offseason and even added some players who appeared to be destined
to become superstars with the team. The answer, I believe, lies in the loss of their identity.... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I believe that there is value in becoming lost. Many of the team s young players have
experienced nothing but success in the NFL. They must learn how to overcome adversity and
hold the lead late in games. If they do happen to save the season, it would be great opportunity
for the players to grow as professional athletes and prepare for future triumph. This principle is
applicable to more than just football. We can learn valuable lessons from a loss in almost any
context. Losing forces us to think hard about our identities and be humble, whether we re part of
an NFL team or just small, innocent children. Once, long ago, much like the 2015 Seattle
Seahawks, I became lost. I was merely a wee lad, not much older than three or four years, on a
family vacation with my sister, parents, and grandparents. We were staying in Port Townsend,
Washington in an old military style duplex. The pale blue double door house had the feeling of a
1950 s movie, rather quaint and homey. An ancient apple tree towered over my head just outside
the window, too tall for me to climb, yet tempting enough for me to try. My family and I were
leaving the duplex to attend some long forgotten tourist activity, when I, the little boy with a vibrant
tie dyed t shirt, had to return to the house to retrieve my blue fleece jacket. The beginning of fall
weather was just cold enough to

Disney s The Lion King Essay
The Lion King
Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that
balance, and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope, said Mufasa, a
supporting character in the film depiction of Walt Disney s: The Lion King (1994). The Lion King
is a timeless archetypal work that time after time has given youth hope and has shown them that
courage is not always innate, but can be learned from just living life with a little hakuna matata .
The Lion King, through the use of classic archetype, vivid surrealism, and iconic symbolism,
shows a coming to age story that shows children that life is an adventure worth the trouble. The

Simba takes his rightful place on pride rock on his road back home. Simba is resurrected he is
accepted back into the Pride and he returns with the Elixir and the pride lands are returned to
normal. Simba went through the journey from start to finish in what that viewer saw as continual
growth and development of courage.
The film s use of surrealism is masterfully placed in a way that is interesting to the average
viewer. The most notable area in the film is when Simba is thinking about should he leave to go
to the pride lands and his father s image appears in the stars. He receives guidance from beyond.
The reason why it was such a compelling scene was because Mufasa s reappearance validated to
the audience that Simba was never alone. He was being watched over by his father in a type of
mystical protection. Rafiki, a type of witch doctor, is the most surreal character in the entire
film. He knows things before they are said and he give Simba and support that he needs as king.
If Rafiki would have never made Mufasa s image reappear in the sky, Simba would have never
returned to go back to the Pride Lands with out him seeing his father again. Rafiki tells Simba that
there was a very peculiar weather and that he too saw the spirit of Mufasa and that he was not only
seeing him in his mind.
Iconic symbolism is used through out the movie. As the movie begins, The Circle of Life plays
with the setting sun. The setting sun is an interpretation that life a never ending

Abstract Until modern times, most women possessed relatively few formal rights. The women of
ancient Sparta were a striking exception. Although they could not vote, Spartan women reportedly
owned 40 percent of Sparta s agricultural land, and enjoyed other rights that were equally
extraordinary. We offer a simple economic explanation for the Spartan anomaly. The deп¬

In brief, we conclude that the unusual rights possessed by Spartan women resulted from the fact
that these women were expected to perform tasks that were very valuable to men, and also very
costly for men to monitor. By contrast, in most societies prior to the industrial revolution
(including the rest of ancient Greece), the highest value use of women s time (from a man s
perspective) was in tasks that either were easily monitored or had few incentive compatibility
problems (i.e., raising children and other traditional women s work ). Therefore, most

its п¬Ѓerce devotion to warfare. The historian Thucydides wrote, If Sparta were deserted and only
its temples and its ground plan left, future generations would never believe that its power had
matched its reputation (quoted in Forrest 1969, p. 28).

Graphene s Extraordinary Properties
Graphene is a form of carbon which has recently been receiving a great deal of attention. Some
have come to call it the wonder material due to its many extraordinary properties. Although
isolated in 2004, graphene s properties had been calculated decades earlier. It consists of a single
layer of carbonatoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. A single sheet of graphene is stronger than
steel and yet remains very flexible, retaining all of its properties despite being bent and unbent
multiple times. It is able to sustain extremely high electric current densities, is impermeable to all
gasses, has a thermal conductivity double that of diamond and a very high electron mobility at
room temperature. It is also easily chemically functionalized,... Show more content on

As the name implies, it is graphite which has been oxidized, the most common method being
Hummers method. Graphene oxide is exfoliated graphite oxide. From there, graphene oxide can
be reduced, making reduced graphene oxide, or r GO. r GO is most commonly referred to as
graphene, and it is the subject of most studies done on graphene. It is the most similar to pristine
graphene, and its only difference from pristine graphene is that it sill has some oxygens and
hydrogens left over from the graphite oxide. Despite these defects, pristine graphene s and r GO
s properties are still very similar. (Dreyer et al. 2010) Epitaxial graphene is another common
type. Epitaxial materials consist of a crystalline substance on top of another crystalline substrate.
The most common form of epitaxial graphene is a single layer of graphene over a substrate of
single crystal silicon carbide. Silicon carbide itself has a high electrical properties and is
currently used in many electronics. Combining it with graphene increases its electrical properties.

represents silicon carbide. (adapted from Dreyer 2010) Chemically modified graphene, or CMG,
is graphene with other elements attached to its lattice. Such elements are often metals or a form of
silicon, and serve to affect some property of the graphene and make it

Advantages And Objectives Of Indian Drug Industry
Chapter 2
Pricing Strategies of Indian Drug Industry
2.1 Introduction:
Price is the value which is paid by the buyer to the manufacturer against the products and services.
It is the value of the product mentioned by the seller to the consumers Pricing decisions are one of
the crucial factors that shapes by cost factors, profit margin, and possibility of sales at different
price levels and the competitor s pricing policy as well as with the number of existing competitors in
the market. Pricing is the most critical element of the marketing mix and firms must make strategic
preferences about how to price their product to achieve their business goals in the best possible
manner by considering the demand and supply relationship. Unlike the three ... Show more content

In present times, loss leaders pricing technique has become the popular method of sales promotion
of product. The purpose of making a product loss leader is to encourage customers to make further
purchases of profitable goods while they are in the shop. Departmental Store or Retailers used to
adopt this strategy for increasing the foot fall in store.
Pricing is a key competitive weapon and a significant part of the marketing mix. If a business
reduced its prices than competitors, new customers may be attracted and existing customers may
become more loyal. Hence using a loss leader pricing can help to divert loyal customers. Using a
loss leader is a short term pricing tactic for any product.
One risk of using a loss leader pricing is that customers can take the opportunity to bulk buy . If the
price discount is sufficiently enough, then it makes sense for customers to buy as much as they can
(assuming the product is not perishable) which leads loss for the manufacturer.

The Difference Between Volunteer And Large Telemarkote Calls
There been numerous studies conducted to see if telephone calls actually produce the desired
effect. There is a significant difference in the mobilization of voters using telephone calls between
the volunteer and the large telemarketing call centers. Studies have shown an increase in voter
turnout of nearly 3 to 5% for volunteer callers, while most commercial call centers do not have
much of a significant impact on getting voters to the polls. Yet, most of the common forms of
political campaign calls do come from the telemarketing call centers. To try and understand why this
is a look at how both the volunteer and telemarketing call centers interact with the potential voter
during the phone conversation was conducted. The telemarketing... Show more content on

In general the findings indicate that in the American Society positive social norms that come with
voting and those who are contacted and give the response to the affirmative that they will vote
seemed to be more effective than a onetime contact. It has long been understood that when one gets
a written or verbal commitment generally that has been followed through in the commitment kept.
Simply put that asking someone to commit to vote can increase the possibility they will. Also a
while person thinks with the intent of commitment this influences person to vote. Phone calls
either from volunteers or the large telemarketing firms may not bring a large amount of voters to
the polls yet; they do play an essential part in the overall outcome of getting voters to the polls. It
s not that phone calls are ineffective it seems to be more in how the phones scripts are delivered is
what is showing to be lacking.
DOOR KNOCKERS Another important part of the political campaigning is the door knocker
these door to door canvassers play a very important role in the campaign. This part of the campaign
offers a more personal interaction with a potential voter. The door knocker offers the in person
interaction and conversation by delivering the campaign message and at the same time giving the
voter the opportunity to ask questions or give comments. There s still much debate over

Similarities Between Anthem And Fahrenheit 451
Can you fathom a world where everything is peaceful and predetermined? The novella Anthem by
Ayn Rand and the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury depict futures where everything is
predetermined and violence, betrayal, and deception are virtually non existent. In Anthem this
dystopia puts humanity into a dark age, which halts evolution and progression. This digression of
humanity is the result of Collectivist ideals as proposed throughout the novella, one instance is
where Rand writes, There is nothing to take a man s freedom away from him, save other men. To
be free, a man must be free of his brothers. That is freedom. That and nothing else. (Rand, 70)

Access Of Health Care And The Hot Spotters Program
Access to Health Care and the Hot Spotters Program The United States of America has been
known to be one of the most advanced countries in terms of our quality of medicine, medical
programs, and medical advances. A person can walk into nearly any emergency room without
the fear of being turned away or not getting care. With so many resources and cutting edge
technology, it s hard to believe that this health care system does not function to suit the needs of
the populations that are most in need of care. Gaining access to long term, continuous health care
has become an arduous task, especially over the past two years. Finding a primary care provider
seems impossible nowadays, whether a person is insured or uninsured. Recognizing this growing
problem, some physicians around the country have decided to tackle this issue. This paper will
explore the problem of people being unable to access continuous healthcare as well as some
reasons why this occurs. It will also reveal a new initiative called the Student Ho Spotters Program
that has been created and tested out at hospitals around the country that aims to get people the
established care that they need. In 2014, the Affordable Care Act expanded to make Medicaid
available to more adults that live under the poverty line. A survey completed in 2010 showed that
an estimated eighty one million adults were underinsured or completely uninsured during that year

Hello Day Worldwide By Juliah Acquah Summary
In Hello Day Worldwide, the poet is responding to a radio announcement that today is World
Hello Day with disapproval. Kobina Eyi Acquah uses diction, structure, figurative language, and
symbolism to question the intentions of a Day while advocating for a Lifetime commitment (27)
to knowing and being known (22). In the first two stanzas, a clear distinction is made between
their town (1) and our village (11). This creates a binary opposition in which the two paradigms
are isolated from each other. It can be seen that our village consists of a smaller population than
their town, and therefore our village is in a way powerless to change their town. The poet states
that in their town saying good morning is offensive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the first stanza, the author portrays a very negative atmosphere where people are unhappy
and are very deep within themselves and not others. This then changes To the unbarring / Of
windows and gates, / The demolition of fences and walls (28,30) these phrases all denote
positive connotations of freedom. Freedom from people s lives trapped within their phones and
tablets. The demolition of fences and walls shows the removal of all the barriers people in
societies have set up in order to avoid conversation and general interaction, to help them build
healthy relationships with others and to see the amazing world that revolves around us. The
author structures the abolition / Of border ports / And entry permits (31,33) so that each phrase
had its own line. This makes it difficult to read which symbolizes how hard it can be to break
these barriers down from people. Once their walls go up, it is near impossible to break down and
change for a better and more communicative world. But with time and effort, it can be done and
will turn the world into a much more open place for everyone. There exists another shift in tone as
the author suggests that there is something deeper and darker lying within people in society. The
quick open lock / Of the shutters / Of the soul (43,44) suggests to the reader that people may be

The long range infantry weapon of the 1700 s was the musket. The musket is stronger than the bow
and arrow. The kinetic energy and momentum of an 18mm musket ball shooting from a Brown
Bess musket are 1460 joules and 9.36 kg*m/s. The kinetic energy and momentum of an arrow
being shot from a bow are 16.5 joules and 1.15 kg*m/s. The musket ball clearly has a much
stronger momentum and kinetic energy than the arrow, which means it has more stopping power.
Firearms of the 1700 s also have much greater maximum range than bows and arrows. If a Brown
Bess was fired at a forty five degree angle in a frictionless environment, the musket ball would
travel 9783 meters. If a bow fired it s arrow at forty five degrees in a frictionless environment, it
would travel only one hundred and nineteen meters. The musket has more than eighty two times the
maximum range of the bow and arrow. Some might say that bows and arrows are stronger than
muskets, but that is not entirely true. Most people refer to muskets and rifles of the eighteen and
nineteenth century only as smooth bore barrel muskets. Muskets barrels later became rifled in the
nineteenth century and are much more accurate than their smooth bore relatives. Not only are
muskets more lethal than bows and arrows, but cannons and artillery are more lethal than medieval
catapults.

grandmother just let us keep piling them on. My grandmother is the kind, gentle, loving, caring

commodity is popular, Colombia takes advantage of the global commodity and its demand for

top profomers in. As of 2014, Columbia is the third highest producer of coffee only matched by
Vietnam and Brazil at #1.
Columbia is on their way to being a fully developed country despite the social ills of their society

as exports This climate, however is starting to have negative effects on the cultivation of the crop
as temperatures have risen and precipitation is threatening the delicate soil needed to harvest the
bean. Some other commodities produced in Columbia are petroleum, coal, emeralds, coffee,
nickel, cut flowers, bananas, and apparel. I hope to tie my entire research back into the concept of
fair trade. This provides livable wages to workers/ farmers of the crop at a fair price per lb.

Vegetarian Experiment Summary
In this lab, we conducted multiple experiments on planarians and examined their reactions toward
variety of stimuli. First and foremost, we have to be able to identify the fundamental structure of
the planarians; especially the nervous system. Planarians are grouped into Class Turbellaria. They
have a central nervous systemthat consists of 2 to 6 ventral nerve cords and subepideral nerve net
also known as cephalization. Cephalization is more advanced because the system now has more
neurons, sense cells, larger ganglia compared to the simple nerve net system. The ventral nerve
cords are connected to ganglia that lay interiorly to the ventral epidermis that close to the midline
and run the length of the body (Scott, 2014, p. 54). The information... Show more content on

However, we still have not understood how planarians respond to food. One experiment was
conducted to observe the reactions of planarians toward food or chemical stimuli. When four
planarians were exposed to four different food source, 43% of the planarians moved to the first
location (squash baby food). 25% moved to the second location (chicken baby food), 2% moved
to the third location (control group), and 29% moved to the fourth location (mixture of squash and
chicken baby food). According to Inoue, planarians will release chemotaxis as a response when
they are exposed to chemical. In this case, planarians will operate the chemoreceptors to identify
the location of the food. When four planarians were placed in the middle, they quickly marked their
destinations. They would continue to move until they reach the place with high solute
concentration. In this experiment, we do not know if the all the planarians were hungry or full. For
some of the planarians that quickly moved away, we can determine that they were hungry. And
when they sensory cells detect the chemical, they quickly reacted. However, planarians references
of food are not important in this case. Despite the fact that all the foods are different, planarians
might tend to move toward to places that closest to them or sense the strongest chemical signal
from. As we know that planarians are carnivores, they prefer to feed on organic compounds and

Architecture Manifesto Example
Course: ARC 103 Title: Architecture and Sensitivity: A Manifesto for Sustainable Design This
manifesto proposes an approach to sustainable design that I am interested in exploring during my
time studying architecture. The idea of sustainability is a complex one, not without apparent
contradictions. This makes it difficult to define in a wholly satisfactory manner. For the purposes of
this manifesto I will advert to the definition proposed by Jason McLennan who asserts that
sustainable design: seeks to maximize the quality of the built environment, while minimizing or
eliminating negative impact to the natural environment. I find this definition particularly useful in
the emphasis which it places on quality. By quality, in this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Arising out of his respect for the site, the scale of Aalto s office building derives both its
horizontal and vertical character from the nearby historical buildings, hence its symmetrical, formal
façade. A more recent example of contextually sensitive design is afforded by Grafton Architect s
proposal for the new Faculty of Economics for the University of Toulouse, still under construction.
While envisaging their project, the architects walked from one side of the city to the other, gauging
the character of the brick facades, the polygonal towers, the transitions from streets to courts and
the underlying spatial patterns. The resulting design offers a sensitive response to the layered
history and unique geography of the site. As founding partner Shelley McNamara has put it, the
building weaves into the mesh of the city. 4. Connected to Nature Study nature, love nature, stay

Should The NFL Be Held Liable for Injuries Suffered by...
The topic I will be discussing in this draft is the debate on whether the National Football League
should be held liable for injuries that their employee s sustained while playing professional
football. The injuries that I will discuss are concussion and traumatic brain injuries related to
multiple concussions. In years past this injury wasn t know n to be as prevalent because that
game was played at a much slower speed. Players in todays game are bigger, faster and stronger
than ever. It has been documented that the players themselves willingly know the risk they are
taking yet still take the chance at playing the game. Players and player group representatives are
now seeking compensation for their player and player s families.... Show more content on

The HMO would be more likely cover such an injury like a concussion or concussion related
symptoms, but the NFL is less likely to do so. The NFL can debate that players make a
conscious decision to participate in a sport where this risk is involved.. The players that are
granted coverage will have top cover form outside parties involved and they can take a look at the
historical legislative involvement in overseeing or regulating professional football.
After the NFL commissioner came under scrutiny from Washington lawmakers on whether or
not the injuries in his sport were the cause of traumatic brain disease. The commissioner enacted
a policy that players had to pass a series of test by a neurologist prior to them being allowed to
return to play( Grove, J) This policy change is similar to a normal employee passing a physical
from their primary Doctor before they could return to work. The Commissioner enacted this policy
to prevent players from returning to the game to soon. The current NFL commissioner Roger
Goodell wasn t the first recognize that his sport had a problem taking care of its players. In 1962
the rule of no Face masking was enacted. This rule prohibited a player from grabbing another

Knowledge In Plato s Republic
Knowledge is a central theme in Plato s Republic, particularly prevalent in Book V. In it,
Socrates is telling of the importance of a good ruler, he comes to the conclusion that the absolute
best ruler is what he dubs the Philosopher King . There is an important difference which Plato
points out between true lovers of wisdom, and those who merely appreciate it, a difference which
he says is as stark as dreaming and waking. True Philosophers love the truth and seeking the truth,
they will not be satisfied with a portion of it, nor will they be satisfied with deceiving themselves
into believing they know the full truth; this is like the difference between being fully awake and
being in a dream. Those who know the truth, Socratessays, have knowledge.

The excepted social theory of civilization s social process was made by the scientists Adam
Smith, John Millar, Adam Ferguson, and lastly Lord Kames. This social theory was that there
were many levels of civility in a society. These levels were hunting, pasturage, agriculture, and
commerce. One example of the first level which is hunting is the the Native Americans. The
excepted social process is that a country was to go through all of these levels by starting out on
hunting and eventually the society would mature and work its way up to the point of being a
commercially based society. Now this process helped shaped the colonies culture of civility because

One in particular that sticks out of this list is candid. Especially in todays politics there are very
few leaders and politicians that are honest and candid. Today we find many leaders lying and

guess one could say that the original principals that this country was technically founded on are
not being fallowed by todays leaders in americas. The founding father s also played a gigantic
role in the social culture in America. The social culture in America was very unique at the time.
When you are born in America you are not already put into a social class. There is an equal
opportunity for each and every person. And the role that the founding father s had played in this
was being the people who wrote the constitution which says what we can or can not do also

socially speaking there are not any nobles there are not any serfs or lords there are just citizens.
But what happens to slaves? Well in Thomas Paine s common sense he says that the government

property. But if all men are created equal then how can a man be another man s property. The

John Cheever s Inner Conflictions
Throughout their lives, each and every person will endure struggles. While these can vary greatly,
each must be handled in the proper way. When it is time to face the music, some people opt to
face it head on, while others choose to take them step by step. Over the course of his battles with
marital and financial issues, John Cheever, author of many short stories and longtime partner of the
The New Yorkerdecided instead to push these issues out of his mind. By utilizing self delusion he,
like many of his characters, were able to cope with the ever changing world around them, but

the midst of his struggles with marriage and finances are mirrored in the actions and words of his

Like many of his literary characters, John Cheever began his life in the suburbs, in Quincy,
Massachusetts along with his parents and brother Frederick. The child of well to do parents,
Cheever s father was the owner of a prosperous shoe sale business. They lived comfortably for

Augustine Of Hippo And St. Augustine s Views Of A Single God
Introduction
Many parallels have been drawn between the ancient philosophy known as stoicism and early
Christian thought. They both believe that what ultimately matters in a person is internal, and that
man should not preoccupy himself with earthly belongings. They are both highly individual, and
believe that there is one divine force that is ruling the universe.
And yet, in spite of some essential similarities, there are aspects where the two philosophies
greatly diverge. A peculiar fact is that, although they both seem to have a similar perception of
divinity, their views on the appropriate way to die could hardly be more different. Because death
is a concept indisputably related to faith and conceptions of life after death, and taking into account
the fact that both philosophies can be said to believe in a single God, examining how their beliefs
about afterlife differ may help in understanding why their views on ... Show more content on

That is why the relation of the two has been such an intriguing topic of analysis in both
philosophical and literary contexts.
In the later part of this essay, the work of Augustine of Hippo(or Saint Augustine) will be
discussed. Augustine is considered as one of the most influential Church Fathers, who developed
classical Christian philosophy with his works, in which he drew from Stoic principles, as well as
from Plato and other Hellenistic thinkers.
In De Civitate Dei (The City of God), he addressed issues such as the existence of evil, free will
and the original sin. This and several more of his writings are said to be fundamental for the
formation of Western philosophy, which further adds to the necessity of analyzing the impacts on
his work.

Persuasive Essay On Racial Profiling
In the United States racial profiling affects thousands of Americans every single day. Not many
people think about what racial profiling is, some people think it don t even think it exists or how
it affects everyday lives, but you or anyone could have possibly done it. Racial profiling is the use
of raceor ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone to committing an offense. According to
American Civil Liberties Union, Racial profilingis a nation wide problem. Stories have been
reported across the country not only by everyday citizens, but doctors, lawyers, judges, legislators,
police/military officers, and celebrities . Even though racial profiling is widespread, it should be
stopped because of its negative effects on people and America.
So why does racial profiling affect most races or ethnicity?
In an article by Evan Horowitz from The Boston Globe, was a great point about racial profiling
Horowitz says, When police start targeting people based on their race, it effectively puts a whole
community under suspicion. What is more, it virtually guarantees that the innocent will regularly
find themselves stopped by police, for little reason beyond the color of their skin . A good example
which proves the statement he made is true is police brutality. A lot of police brutality cases have
happened in the recent past of this year in addition to starting the Black Lives Matter protesting.

United Kingdom s Employment Law and Relationships
Wedderburn has a significant point in his statement that United Kingdom employment relationships
are highly regulated by law. It would be more accurate, however, to state that there are certain areas
of employment law that are well regulated from a variety of different sources. Prior to denoting just
what these sources are and what effects they have on various employers, employees, and organized
labor unions, however, it is necessary to delineate the development of employment law throughout
the United Kingdomwhich, given this region s lengthy history, is fairly recent.
Prior to the midway point of the 20th century, there was no employment law in the UK or
throughout various other parts of Europe as well. For the most part, all employment relationships
took the form of master/servant roles, with the latter having fairly little say in the terms and
conditions of their employment. In the 1960 s, however, this decidedly laissez faire approach was
replaced by a few minimum standards protocols that dealt with safety and economic dismissal. One
of the regulations that emerged regarding the latter topic was the 1965 Redundancy Payment Act,
which issued stipulations and standards for termination (Gunter, 1965).
Trade unions truly emerged as a powerhouse and one of the key drivers for employment
relationship in the 1970 s. Collective bargaining was rampant and even advocated by governmental
entities to prevent strikes from occurring. Perhaps the most important aspect of this epoch

more basic question is whether they will attend a same sex or co ed school. The different types of
high schools do not only effect the 9 12th grade experience but effects the behavior of students
transitioning into collegeclassrooms. This is a common debate in my house: whether it is helpful

Symptoms And Treatment Of Skin
When asked about their major illnesses, the client stated to have hypertension, severe dyspnea, and
edema. The client also stated that she suffered from a heart attack in the past, which was due to
high blood pressure. Many of the client s problems branched off from the heart attack and
hypertension. For example, a heartattack and high bloodpressure can cause heart failure, heart
failure can cause pulmonary edema, and pulmonary edema can lead to swelling of the lower
extremities and dyspnea (Grossman Porth, 2014). However, the most recent hospitalization for
the client was due to severe edema, and trouble breathing. Severe edema is one of the major
causes for impaired skin integrity. Skin integrity is defined as the state in which an individual s
skin is at risk of being adversely altered (kloop, Storey, Bronstein, 2012). There are three major
factors that can relate to client s skin alteration: decreased tissue perfusion, prolonged bed rest, and
pulmonary edema.
One factor that can cause impaired skin integrity is decreased tissue perfusion. Decreased tissue
perfusion refers to decrease in oxygen resulting in failure to nourish tissues at the capillary level
(Wilson, 2012). Reduced tissue perfusion causes the body to become distressed because it is not
receiving enough oxygen. This causes the blood to shunt to the core of the body where the vital
organs are located, such as the heart and the brain (Grossman Porth, 2014). Since the client suffered

The Best Things About Earning A Passive Income
One of the best things about earning a passive income is that there is no skill or knowledge glass
ceiling when it comes to doing so. It does not matter if you are a PHD student, a doctor with 20
years of experience, or a person who did not finish high school, anybody can earn a passive
income. A good demonstration of this is EBook writing; it may sound daunting at first, but
anyone can do it. Experts (job recruiters, psychologists, marriage counselors, dietitians, personal
trainers, hypnotists, etc.) Instructors (yoga, piano, etc.) Coaches (sports coach, vocal coach,
life coach, business coach, etc.) Teachers (language, cooking, etc.) These are all very diverse
professions, each requiring a different skill set, yet anyone in these professions could write a
bestselling EBook just based off their experiences. So, as you can see, it does not matter who
you are, as long as you are willing to work at it, you can build a very impressive passive income.
You do not have to be a professional either. All the above professions went through some form of
professional training, but even if you did not, you can still write a great EBook. Some people
may get intimidated because their writing is not good, or they do not think anyone will read it;
but look, the EBook you write does not have to be the next War and Peace; they simply have to
help your potential readership. The key is to focus on a problem or question that your potential
readers could have, and to solve that problem

that while we need to learn from countries such as Korea, Finland, Japan, the Netherlands, and

we can make our educational system more successful and proficient in comparison with these
countries.

Artificial Intelligence Is The Dominant Theory
Artificial intelligence is intelligence exhibited by machines or software. Artificial intelligence also
studies how people create computers that are capable or preforming an intelligent behavior, like a
human (Business Dictionary). To back up artificial intelligence, there is functionalism. Hilary
Putman developed functionalismin the 1970 s, which is still the dominant theory in todays society.
Functionalism states that having a mind does not require a brain and mental states can be realized
by other kinds of substances. Mental states are also defined by their functions. In other words,
functionalism is where ones causes and effects define the views of their mental states. An example

Dualism is just a substance and it stated that the mind is made up of other things rather than just
atoms. Where materialism states the opposite. It showed that there were no such things as
immaterial substances, which meant there were no souls. Materialism was the simpler theory
because there was no mystery and it assumed the least. For that, Ockham s razor denied the
objection to the mind body dualism because it assumed too much. Along with that, materialism was
able to prove that without having a soul, computers can still be intelligent like a human.
Functionalism was an influence that made people believe in the possibility that machines can be
intelligent. It also identifies mental states by what they do rather than what they are made of and
there in that statement, the mind body dualism is denied by functionalism. Perhaps mental states
are more a matter of software, like running a program on your computer (Rosen et al., 355). It is
denied not only because there is not enough information to back it up, but because functionalism
says that beliefs, desires and emotions fit into the larger system since those types of mental states
must be realized by something else other than by what it already is.

Bruce Dawe Poem Weapons Training
Bruce Dawe s poem Weapons Training is a dramatic monologue about the harsh conditions of the
training sessions for troops of the Vietnam War. The poem expresses the harsh conditions as well
as the dehumanisation of the soldiers. The poem was written in 1970 while Dawe was part of the
RAAF. Bruce Dawe uses a variation of language and poetic features to express his opinion and
point of view of the VietnamWar. All of the features which Dawe uses contribute to his
representation of Australia during the war.
Weapons Training is a monologue about the harsh and dehumanising conditions of the training
session for the soldiers. During the poem, Dawe uses a variety of crude words, insults and
Australian slang to show the dehumanisation and attitude the soldiers had to endure. Dawe uses
both crude words and insult to humiliate both Australian and Vietnamese soldiers. He uses
phrases such as unsightly fat and are you queer to insult Australian soldiers and little yellows and
rotten fish sauce breath to insult the Vietnamese. The slang that Dawe uses is able to show a
representation of Australian culture, the slang is old crown jewels, tripe s and copped the bloody
lot. Using these words, the poet is able to show that the culture is strong even during war. All the
words that Dawe uses is a way of degrading the soldiers.
Bruce Dawe uses expressive language features to show the harshness of his poem. Dawe uses a

Internal recruiting can promote growth from within the organization. Many large companies
encourage internal promotion as a source of friendly corporate culture. External sources can
also be beneficial if the company is looking for a fresh start or someone with some new ideas.
External recruiting can help to diversify an organization while bringing in needed competencies.
Hiring externally can be done through various ways such as Internet job boards, and staffing
agencies. External hiring might be more costly but may provide more outstanding candidates.
Whichever the organization decide internal or external, the position needed to be filled will
determine the order of the search. Once you have started recruiting it is time to view your
potential qualified candidates. The key in the selection process is to choose a strategy for
screening your candidates so that you are able to view the people that or most qualified for the
position. Organizations also make use of many outside agencies when completing the selection
process. Drug screening and reference checks are often done by a third party. Many companies are
beginning to incorporate assessment tests and activities into the selection process to insure
additional training is not necessary for potential candidates. These screenings can be very important
in weeding out the wrong candidates and keeping potential good fits for the position in place for the

Pioneers changed the world in many different ways. They put their mind to it and got the job
done. Not all of its physical some is just speech/ talking and mental you have to be smart. Gandhi
and church were exactly like that. Gandhi changed the way war went on just giving speeches and
protesting he walked over 200 miles for his protest, church changes everything through his drawing
abilities he drew The Hudson River School. Gandhi had to deal with a lot of things in his lifetime.
He was born in October 2, 1869. He studied law in London but in 1893 moved to South Africa,

$EH = HG = GF = FE$hfill since $EFGH$ is a rhombus.
$AB = BC = DC = DA$hfill since $ABCD$ is a square.
$BF = DH$hfill since $AD = BG$ and $EF = GH$ and $EH = GF$.
Similarly, $AE = GC$ and $AH = BE = FC = DG$.
The four triangles $(AEH; EBF; FCG; DHG)$ are congruent by $SSS$.
Each angle in the corner of $ABCD$ is $90^{circ}$hfill since $ABCD$ is a square.
$Ahat{E}H + Ehat{H}A = 90^{circ}$hfill since $Ehat{A}H = 90^{circ}$.

I only prove that $Ehat{H}G = 90^{circ}$, for the reason that the prove of the other angles will
be similar. When I was asked to prove if the inscribed rhombus is a square, I simply say to
myself, ``it means I have to prove that the corners of the rhombus are right angled
($90^{circ}$) since the properties of a rhombus are such that opposite angles are equal, all
sides are equal, and opposite sides are parallel, the diagonals bisect the angles, and the diagonals
are perpendicular bisectors of each other. Therefore, the inscribed rhombus can only be a square
if the angles are right angles. I observe that all four triangles are congruent by SSS, therefore
from $Ahat{E}H + Ehat{H}A = 90^{circ}$ and $Ehat{H}G + Ahat{H}E + Dhat{H}G =
180^{circ}$ and $Ghat{H}D = Ahat{E}H$, it follows that $Ahat{H}E + Dhat{H}G =
90^{circ}$, hence $Ehat{H}G = 90^{circ}$. There is a need to draw the picture since it gives
more logical reasoning and the understanding of how the angles and sides are defined, without
drawing the picture we may not understand what is happening, therefore it is very crucial that as
teachers we make use of pictures when we dealing with this kind of

Brain Science Beliefs
Many people may or may not know the stories and lives of Phineas Gage, Henrietta Lacks, and
Douglas Mawson. What you should know is that they all impacted the scientific community in
major ways. Whether they changed brain science, changed how we study and search for cures for
diseases or changed how people study and explore the Antarctic. Although their experiences may
have been very different, they all greatly impacted the scientific community. Whether it s about how
Phineas Gagesuffered major brain injury and underwent possible changes within himself; This
changed how we look at brain science forever. Or whether it was how Henrietta Lacks suffered
through cancer and died unknowingly that her cells were going to be used in laboratories around
the world. Lastly, while leading the biggest exploration of the Antarctic of his time; Douglas
Mawson who had to push for his life and suffer many losses in the most unforgiving environment
on this planet. What makes their situations similar is that these people contributed a lot to science
through their unusual cases to the scientific community whether they wanted to or not. Douglas
Mawson had it worst; This is because he had to push for his life and it was his choice to continue
his research and exploration, knowing he may or may not come back alive
Arguably Douglas Mawson could be seen as one of the worst of the situations. As Douglas
Mawson suffered the loss of fellow explorers, equipment, food, dogs and dog sleds. Mawson

Valentine Target Audience
There has never been a time where product or service marketing is geared to target a specific
segment or niche than today. This is a period in history where the most successful companies are
those that have identified a specific group of people in the marketplace and designed their products
and services to satisfy their particular needs and tastes.
When you don t have the right knowledge about your specific market, you could end up targeting
the wrong market with the wrong product or service in the wrong way! And this equals low
product sales.
So what s a target market?
Basically, it is a specific group of people you have decided to sell your product or service to. A
target market can either be a niche (small group) or a large market.

And this can be an excellent way of marketing to people from diverse demographics.
For example, a strict organic food restaurant can attract customers from diverse age groups and not
only the elderly. This is because even the younger generation are now keener on their health.
Therefore psychographic segmentation focuses on the following: Lifestyle, social class, personality,
interests and values of the consumers.
Behavioral
As its name suggests, behavioral segmentation targets how people behave. This however, emanates
from a customers response to, use or knowledge of to a certain product.
For example, you will target your Valentines day customers from as early as the first day of
February. So as a company, you have to target the behavior surrounding this occasion and cash out
of it. The following criteria are inclusive of behavioral segmentation:
Occasional buying
Rate of product usage
Product benefits
Loyalty to a product brand.
Well, you may still be contented of how your product or service appeals to a larger market.
However you can t underestimate the results that comes with learning target marketing which can

Nothing is so fundamental yet so important to the freedoms we enjoy as Americans as the United

government in their statements the emphasis is placed on perfect peace for the welfare of the
people. Their focus was fighting for, the liberty of the people.
Among the Indian nations whose ancient seats were within the limits of our republic, the Iroquois

Every citizen and non citizens right are guaranteed by the constitution. The constitution can be
changed and these changes are called Amendments. The first ten are called the Bill of Rights. There
are twenty six changes to the constitution. By comparing the Iroquois federation to the federalist
and anti federalist positions one will see that there are many similarities as well as the difference
among the three. The similarities between the Iroquois an the federalist allows me to believe that
the Iroquois were the ones responsible for the shaping this great nation, America.
The Adoption of the Constitution
Washington was unanimously chosen president and a secretary was appointed. A few days later
rules of procedure were adopted. It was determined that each state should have one vote in the
convention. As was the case in the Virginians, who had arrived in advance of most of the
delegations met frequently in informal caucus and drafted series of resolutions, largely the work of
Madison, which was presented to the convention on by Governor Randolph.
The Virginian plan, resolutions are called, provided for a division of the central government into
three departments, legislative, executive and judicial. The Virginian plan may be called the large
state plan. it proposed exchanges in the structure and character of the federal government so
sweeping that they could scarcely be regarded merely

Communication Within the Nhs
1. The National Health Service (NHS) is a publicly funded service, providing free health care for
all British citizens. Since its launch in 1948, the NHS has grown to become the world s largest
publicly funded health service together with one of the largest employers in the world . However
throughout the past decade the demand for health care has been rising radically and with the
continuous need to be accountable for public spending the NHS has been put under immense
pressure to be cost effective at the same time as achieving their prime objective of improving the
standard of care (NHS Choices, 2010).
1.1 Human resource management is crucial to the success of this goal since it identifies the

Ignorance of these differences may lead to offending an employee, leading to unintentional
discrimination and poor relationships. It would therefore be beneficial for human resource
management to understand culture disparities that may affect the way in which a message is
perceived (Culturaldiversisty.org, 2008). Cultural diversity not only causes interferences within
verbal communication but also in the way non verbal communication is perceived. In relation to the
cultural variations within non verbal communication, body language is often misconstrued. For
example when the British are talking face to face they tend to look away spasmodically , in
contrast to this the Norwegians typically look people steadily in their eyes without altering their
gaze, thus a British individual communicating with a Norwegian could portray this eye contact as
threatening and a wrong perception of that person may be perceived (Mullins, 2005, p231).
3.1 As the prime objective of the NHS care system is to provide optimal care for all UK citizens,
and with a multicultural country as our own, cultural competence ought to be manifested at every
level within the NHS organization to ensure there are no damaging effects. Missunderstandings
may lead to missdiagonosis, thus practitioners and nurses along with managers should all be
culturaly aware. (Cultural diversisty.org, 2007) Portsmouth hospital s NHS trust s ethnic health
coordinator highlights this

Similarities Between The Solider And Dulce Et Decorum Est
The Solider by Rupert Brooke and Dulce et decorum Est by Wilfred Owen, are two poems
written during the time of World War One (WW1). Both poems are an example of each authors
perception on war, Owens being about the spiteful reality and Brookes about the glory of dying
one s country. Although they are two very different perspectives both are based around the horrors
of war and the unimaginable amount of deaths that WW1 had caused. There are numerous amounts
of similarities between the two poems Dulce et Decorum Est and The Soldier . Throughout The
Soldier Brooke revels the fact that fighting in war for the sole purpose of defending ones country is
courageous, he supports this act by writing And think, this heart, all evil shed... Show more content

In the first stanza of Dulce et Decorum Est , the reader is instantly drawn in with Bent double .
This gives the poem a feeling of immediacy which is then followed up by a detailed description
of what is to come. Till on the haunting flares we turned our backs/ Men marched asleep/ Many
had lost their boots but limped on. The reader is yet again, drawn into the graphic scene of war.
The alliteration Knock kneed emphasises the battle weariness of the soldiers and intensifies the
way they depicted war. Owen creates rhythm throughout the stanza by littering the poem with
pauses. He uses this technique in the line All went blind; Drunk with fatigue; death even to the
hoots Of tired . Owen makes the scene more vivid by bringing in his own involvement to war
with we cursed through the sludge , he uses the term sludge to help capture the agony which was
being experienced by the soldiers. The Soldier is one of numerous poems written at the
beginning of war (before Dulce et Decorum Est ) to attract naive young men who believed
enrolling in war would be an exciting adventure allowing them to travel the world. Brooke
welcomes death in his sonnet and expresses that he feels privileged to have been raised in
England, believing it was a blessing. In the first stanza, Brooke gives the impression of England
being a tranquil country, in which he feels honoured to be English. If I should die, think

Why We Should Celebrate D-Day
We all celebrate many holidays but one holiday that we are missing and should have is D Day.
The Allied forces that fought along side America to try to take back France from Germany. The
fight during D Day was no easy task for the soldiers the location and the weather made it difficult
for them to get to land. Germany had many advantages that took out many soldiers even after
they finally got to the beach. D Day one of the bloodiest days with a battle that was not easy for
the Allies should become a holiday. The date when the battle of Normandy took place was during
world war 2 and the other countries who fought alongside should also celebrate. During World War
II, it was the day (June 6, 1944) on which the Allied forces of Britain, Canada, and the United States
invaded Normandy coast of German occupied France ( D Day ). The date for holiday should be
June 6 and kids should have a day off. And we should recommend that Britain and Canada also
celebrate this holiday. Britain and France announced that an invasion there would lead them to
declare war with Germany ( Drez 11). The holiday will be on June 6 and we should recommend

How Does One Sacrifice Something That Can t Be Held But...
Here is a riddle I learned during this school year. How does one sacrifice something that can t be
held but measured? If it can t be held, how can you give someone yours? Last clue: If it can be
measured why can t you save it up for different purposes? What are we talking about here? After
three clues you should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured,
not held, and not given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time,
but unlike other gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by
mostly trial and error. My trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing
my 60 inch (measured diagonally) watching a TV show. My MacBook computer would be on
my lap being ignored even though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was
sitting next to me, the Greek god would smell of times lost and be fuming from his mouths, all
three of them. I was in every sense sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing
god like voice Chrono honors me with the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my
time wisely or before you know it, your time will be up mortal.
The Greek gods statement rang true to the same pitch of my ears as I turned off the TV and
started my paper. I turned my head to face face face Chronos and responded in my mortal weak
words responding, Use it or loose it?
The gods six eyes all squint in unison at

Relationship Between Buyer And Buyer
There are two main types of buyer and seller relationships. The buyer is the person or organisation
that purchases products from suppliers. A buyer could be a manufacturer purchasing raw materials
or a customer buying a finished product from a retailer. The relationship between the buyer and
seller can be either short term (once off or low commitment purchases) or long term, involving
regular purchases based on established agreements. The success of a good buyer seller relationship
is that they understand each other and have a good fit . But who are the partners in the supply
chain relationship?? Raw material source The process starts with a supplier of raw materials that

That value can be based on services, quality, on time deliveries, returns management, or some
combination of these. It s what makes buyers increase their percentage of purchases from
individual suppliers for the long run. This provides a double edged benefit for suppliers: when a
buyer increases its purchase of a needed material or product or goods, this not only enhances the
chosen supplier s bottom line, but also negatively impacts the competition. Further, this increased
collaboration between supply chain buyer and seller leads to another valuable outcome: increased
efficiencies. The Longer the Collaboration, the Lower the Costs One of the greatest benefits from
long term supply chain collaboration (and one that consistently delights operationally oriented
managers) are the cost savings that result from routine procedures over the life of the relationship.
When buyers and suppliers begin a relationship, there interactions often are fraught with
inefficiencies and expensive company legacy s , adding to the cost of doing business in year one.
In year two, however, procedures typically become more streamlined, issues in IT are worked
through, and interpersonal relationships between organizations become more

  • 2. Essay about Maximus and Odysseus Maximus and Odysseus While watching the film Gladiator with my girlfriend I realized the striking similarities that heroes share. However, I always wonder who is more of a hero. The definition or hero is a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life. So let us compare the two heroes as the dictionary defines them. In the end I hope to be able to define who is a greater hero. Maximus was a great warrior in the Roman legion under Emperor Marcus Aurelius. His first courageous feat occurs when he defeats the last of the Barbarians of Germaina. Leading his army along a 12 year campaign he brought it to an end. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although they are opposite ends of the spectrum, they both must go from one extreme to the other to get to the end of their story. Starting with Odysseus courageous efforts he first defeats the Trojans at the battle of Troy with the wooden horse. Much like Maximus his story begins with him winning a great war that has gone on for years. Odysseus must use his intellect more so than his brute strength, such as when he escapes the Cyclops. Unlike Maximus Odysseus makes the mistake right off the bat of revealing his name to the Cyclops when he is leaving, thus he cannot return home yet because he hasn t become a nobody yet. The reoccurring theme between the two that I see is that the must reach a certain state before the end of their story can take place. Odysseus has to become a plain man not a war hero, and Maximus must win the crowd over and they need to know who is so he cannot be slain in the dungeons. In his last great show of strength Odysseus strings a bow and kills the suitors that were trying to steal his wife from him while he was gone. Odysseus finally reaches his home in the end and yes becomes that nobody that we so often mention. His journey home was filled with trials much like Maximus was. Odysseus suffered the wrath of the gods, cannibals, giants and even had to wrestle Poseidon. Maximus had to fight in the coliseum against outrageous odds, battling with live tigers nipping at his heels, and ultimately in the end he ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Churches Should Not Be Divided Why Churches Should Not Be So Divided One of the core values in Christianity is to love one another like Christ loved us, but us as Christians can t even seem to love each other in our own churches. Let alone other churches. In a world already divided so greatly, we as Christians should strive to establish more unity and do away with so much division within our own churches. Let s face it, Christians don t necessarily have the best rep. There are major news stories of Christian bakers refusing to bake a cake for a same sex couple. You can watch videos such as this one, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iIqJYqBrbI4 , where random people are asked their opinion on Christianity and there are certainly people with unfavorable views on ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But most doctrine. People are certainly concerned about how the stigma of not being tied to one certain set of beliefs affects the church as a whole. I believe that this is a problem within churches with denominations as well. I currently attend a Baptist Church. I attend Trinity Baptist Church to be precise. I grew up in the Baptist church and am a born again Christian familiar with the beliefs and ideology of the Baptist branch of Protestant Christianity. So you may be wondering, why I would be criticizing the very branch of religion I associate myself with. Or why I criticize any denomination of Christianity in general. It is not as much that I am against the idea of people having different perspectives of the same religion, or different ways to tell the same story, if you will. It is more or less my wish to ease or even put an end to the compartmentalization of ourselves within our own denominations and churches. A post from Starting Point puts in Walker 3 into great words, During Jesus ministry, he prayed that his future followers would exhibit a special kind of unity that would be a testimony to the world. So what happened? Rather than unity, harmony, and cooperation, Christians are often known for their squabbles and divisions. Even when they appear to get along, they divide up into hundreds of different groups, churches, and denominations. For those who are not Christians, it seems ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Treatment Of The Surgical Setting The surgical setting is very different from the generalized floors that I have become accustomed to. The exposure I had today included observing the operating room setting, the PACU, and the exchange of patient care to a generalized or outpatient floor. In preparation for my clinical day I had finished the module readings relating to peri operative care which I found useful because I had a base knowledge of information to build upon. I selected one patient to gather information from which included his surgery, patient information, and care he received in the different stages of the surgical process. Patient Data Patient JC is a 63 year old male, he is Caucasian and is not Hispanic. He presented to the emergency room on Monday April 4th after noticing pain, swelling, and a blue tint to his left fifth digit. He has a history of hyperlipidemia, GERD, cardiac disorder, osteoarthritis, hematuria, prostate cancer (resolved), and hammer syndrome. He has dentures and partial vision loss in both eyes. JC is a construction worker. The patient s current problem with his left fifth digit is believed to come from his history of hypothenar hammer syndrome. Hypothenar hammer syndrome is caused by repeated use of the palm of the hand, such as when you use a hammer to push or grind objects. This can result in damage of certain blood vessels in hand, especially the ulnar artery. This artery goes through the hypothenar area of the palm and supplies blood to the fingers, damage to the ulnar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Is A Successful Sports Team Loses Its Place Sometimes, a historically successful sports team loses its place. This may happen suddenly without apparent cause, or gradually as stars age and are unable to be replaced. One such professional team that appears to be going through this process, at least to me, is the 2015 Seattle Seahawks. They ve been to the Super Bowl two years in a row and seemed poised for yet another superlative season at the beginning of the year. Yet, through seven games they ve been nothing if not mediocre. What has caused this drop in production? The Seahawks didn t lose many key players during the offseason and even added some players who appeared to be destined to become superstars with the team. The answer, I believe, lies in the loss of their identity.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I believe that there is value in becoming lost. Many of the team s young players have experienced nothing but success in the NFL. They must learn how to overcome adversity and hold the lead late in games. If they do happen to save the season, it would be great opportunity for the players to grow as professional athletes and prepare for future triumph. This principle is applicable to more than just football. We can learn valuable lessons from a loss in almost any context. Losing forces us to think hard about our identities and be humble, whether we re part of an NFL team or just small, innocent children. Once, long ago, much like the 2015 Seattle Seahawks, I became lost. I was merely a wee lad, not much older than three or four years, on a family vacation with my sister, parents, and grandparents. We were staying in Port Townsend, Washington in an old military style duplex. The pale blue double door house had the feeling of a 1950 s movie, rather quaint and homey. An ancient apple tree towered over my head just outside the window, too tall for me to climb, yet tempting enough for me to try. My family and I were leaving the duplex to attend some long forgotten tourist activity, when I, the little boy with a vibrant tie dyed t shirt, had to return to the house to retrieve my blue fleece jacket. The beginning of fall weather was just cold enough to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Disney s The Lion King Essay The Lion King Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance, and respect all the creatures from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope, said Mufasa, a supporting character in the film depiction of Walt Disney s: The Lion King (1994). The Lion King is a timeless archetypal work that time after time has given youth hope and has shown them that courage is not always innate, but can be learned from just living life with a little hakuna matata . The Lion King, through the use of classic archetype, vivid surrealism, and iconic symbolism, shows a coming to age story that shows children that life is an adventure worth the trouble. Simba is resurrected he is accepted back into the Pride and he returns with the Elixir and the pride lands are returned to normal. Simba went through the journey from start to finish in what that viewer saw as continual growth and development of courage. The film s use of surrealism is masterfully placed in a way that is interesting to the average viewer. The most notable area in the film is when Simba is thinking about should he leave to go to the pride lands and his father s image appears in the stars. He receives guidance from beyond. The reason why it was such a compelling scene was because Mufasa s reappearance validated to the audience that Simba was never alone. He was being watched over by his father in a type of mystical protection. Rafiki, a type of witch doctor, is the most surreal character in the entire film. He knows things before they are said and he give Simba and support that he needs as king. If Rafiki would have never made Mufasa s image reappear in the sky, Simba would have never returned to go back to the Pride Lands with out him seeing his father again. Rafiki tells Simba that there was a very peculiar weather and that he too saw the spirit of Mufasa and that he was not only seeing him in his mind. Iconic symbolism is used through out the movie. • 7. Essay on the Role of Women in Ancient Greece Econ Gov (2009) 10:221 245 DOI 10.1007/s10101 009 0059 x ORIGINAL PAPER Rulers ruled by women : an economic analysis of the rise and fall of women s rights in ancient Sparta Robert K. Fleck В· F. Andrew Hanssen Received: 10 January 2008 / Accepted: 27 May 2008 / Published online: 20 March 2009 Springer Verlag 2009 Abstract Until modern times, most women possessed relatively few formal rights. The women of ancient Sparta were a striking exception. Although they could not vote, Spartan women reportedly owned 40 percent of Sparta s agricultural land, and enjoyed other rights that were equally extraordinary. We offer a simple economic explanation for the Spartan anomaly. The deп¬ Ѓning moment for Sparta was its conquest of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In brief, we conclude that the unusual rights possessed by Spartan women resulted from the fact that these women were expected to perform tasks that were very valuable to men, and also very costly for men to monitor. By contrast, in most societies prior to the industrial revolution (including the rest of ancient Greece), the highest value use of women s time (from a man s perspective) was in tasks that either were easily monitored or had few incentive compatibility problems (i.e., raising children and other traditional women s work ). Therefore, most 1 Quoted in Pomeroy (2002, p. 81). 2 Sparta produced little in the way of great art, architecture, or philosophy, and was famous primarily for its п¬Ѓerce devotion to warfare. The historian Thucydides wrote, If Sparta were deserted and only its temples and its ground plan left, future generations would never believe that its power had matched its reputation (quoted in Forrest 1969, p. 28). 3 For an economic analysis of the political institutions of Athens and Sparta, see Fleck and Hanssen (2006). 4 Of course, there have always been individual women who had great power and enjoyed great wealth (e.g., Cleopatra, Queen Elizabeth, Catherine the Great). • 9. Graphene s Extraordinary Properties Graphene is a form of carbon which has recently been receiving a great deal of attention. Some have come to call it the wonder material due to its many extraordinary properties. Although isolated in 2004, graphene s properties had been calculated decades earlier. It consists of a single layer of carbonatoms arranged in a hexagonal lattice. A single sheet of graphene is stronger than steel and yet remains very flexible, retaining all of its properties despite being bent and unbent multiple times. It is able to sustain extremely high electric current densities, is impermeable to all gasses, has a thermal conductivity double that of diamond and a very high electron mobility at room temperature. It is also easily chemically functionalized,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As the name implies, it is graphite which has been oxidized, the most common method being Hummers method. Graphene oxide is exfoliated graphite oxide. From there, graphene oxide can be reduced, making reduced graphene oxide, or r GO. r GO is most commonly referred to as graphene, and it is the subject of most studies done on graphene. It is the most similar to pristine graphene, and its only difference from pristine graphene is that it sill has some oxygens and hydrogens left over from the graphite oxide. Despite these defects, pristine graphene s and r GO s properties are still very similar. (Dreyer et al. 2010) Epitaxial graphene is another common type. Epitaxial materials consist of a crystalline substance on top of another crystalline substrate. The most common form of epitaxial graphene is a single layer of graphene over a substrate of single crystal silicon carbide. Silicon carbide itself has a high electrical properties and is currently used in many electronics. Combining it with graphene increases its electrical properties. The purpose of making a product loss leader is to encourage customers to make further purchases of profitable goods while they are in the shop. Departmental Store or Retailers used to adopt this strategy for increasing the foot fall in store. Pricing is a key competitive weapon and a significant part of the marketing mix. If a business reduced its prices than competitors, new customers may be attracted and existing customers may become more loyal. Hence using a loss leader pricing can help to divert loyal customers. Using a loss leader is a short term pricing tactic for any product. One risk of using a loss leader pricing is that customers can take the opportunity to bulk buy . There is a significant difference in the mobilization of voters using telephone calls between the volunteer and the large telemarketing call centers. Studies have shown an increase in voter turnout of nearly 3 to 5% for volunteer callers, while most commercial call centers do not have much of a significant impact on getting voters to the polls. The novella Anthem by Ayn Rand and the novel Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury depict futures where everything is predetermined and violence, betrayal, and deception are virtually non existent. In Anthem this dystopia puts humanity into a dark age, which halts evolution and progression. This digression of humanity is the result of Collectivist ideals as proposed throughout the novella, one instance is where Rand writes, There is nothing to take a man s freedom away from him, save other men. To be free, a man must be free of his brothers. That is freedom. That and nothing else. Access Of Health Care And The Hot Spotters Program Access to Health Care and the Hot Spotters Program The United States of America has been known to be one of the most advanced countries in terms of our quality of medicine, medical programs, and medical advances. A person can walk into nearly any emergency room without the fear of being turned away or not getting care. With so many resources and cutting edge technology, it s hard to believe that this health care system does not function to suit the needs of the populations that are most in need of care. Gaining access to long term, continuous health care has become an arduous task, especially over the past two years. Finding a primary care provider seems impossible nowadays, whether a person is insured or uninsured. Recognizing this growing problem, some physicians around the country have decided to tackle this issue. This paper will explore the problem of people being unable to access continuous healthcare as well as some reasons why this occurs. It will also reveal a new initiative called the Student Ho Spotters Program that has been created and tested out at hospitals around the country that aims to get people the established care that they need. In 2014, the Affordable Care Act expanded to make Medicaid available to more adults that live under the poverty line. In the first two stanzas, a clear distinction is made between their town (1) and our village (11). This creates a binary opposition in which the two paradigms are isolated from each other. It can be seen that our village consists of a smaller population than their town, and therefore our village is in a way powerless to change their town. Freedom from people s lives trapped within their phones and tablets. The kinetic energy and momentum of an arrow being shot from a bow are 16.5 joules and 1.15 kg*m/s. They have a central nervous systemthat consists of 2 to 6 ventral nerve cords and subepideral nerve net also known as cephalization. Cephalization is more advanced because the system now has more neurons, sense cells, larger ganglia compared to the simple nerve net system. According to Inoue, planarians will release chemotaxis as a response when they are exposed to chemical. In this case, planarians will operate the chemoreceptors to identify the location of the food. • 30. Persuasive Essay On Racial Profiling In the United States racial profiling affects thousands of Americans every single day. Not many people think about what racial profiling is, some people think it don t even think it exists or how it affects everyday lives, but you or anyone could have possibly done it. Racial profiling is the use of raceor ethnicity as grounds for suspecting someone to committing an offense. According to American Civil Liberties Union, Racial profilingis a nation wide problem. Stories have been reported across the country not only by everyday citizens, but doctors, lawyers, judges, legislators, police/military officers, and celebrities . • 31. United Kingdom s Employment Law and Relationships Wedderburn has a significant point in his statement that United Kingdom employment relationships are highly regulated by law. It would be more accurate, however, to state that there are certain areas of employment law that are well regulated from a variety of different sources. Prior to denoting just what these sources are and what effects they have on various employers, employees, and organized labor unions, however, it is necessary to delineate the development of employment law throughout the United Kingdomwhich, given this region s lengthy history, is fairly recent. Prior to the midway point of the 20th century, there was no employment law in the UK or throughout various other parts of Europe as well. For the most part, all employment relationships took the form of master/servant roles, with the latter having fairly little say in the terms and conditions of their employment. In the 1960 s, however, this decidedly laissez faire approach was replaced by a few minimum standards protocols that dealt with safety and economic dismissal. One of the regulations that emerged regarding the latter topic was the 1965 Redundancy Payment Act, which issued stipulations and standards for termination (Gunter, 1965). Trade unions truly emerged as a powerhouse and one of the key drivers for employment relationship in the 1970 s. Collective bargaining was rampant and even advocated by governmental entities to prevent strikes from occurring. Perhaps the most important aspect of this epoch ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The different types of high schools do not only effect the 9 12th grade experience but effects the behavior of students transitioning into collegeclassrooms. Although the college atmosphere is a new feel for all incoming freshmen, the habits and behavior students learn from high school tend to stick with them when they enter classes at universities. The client also stated that she suffered from a heart attack in the past, which was due to high blood pressure. Many of the client s problems branched off from the heart attack and hypertension. For example, a heartattack and high bloodpressure can cause heart failure, heart failure can cause pulmonary edema, and pulmonary edema can lead to swelling of the lower extremities and dyspnea (Grossman Porth, 2014). However, the most recent hospitalization for the client was due to severe edema, and trouble breathing. Severe edema is one of the major causes for impaired skin integrity. Skin integrity is defined as the state in which an individual s skin is at risk of being adversely altered (kloop, Storey, Bronstein, 2012). There are three major factors that can relate to client s skin alteration: decreased tissue perfusion, prolonged bed rest, and pulmonary edema. One factor that can cause impaired skin integrity is decreased tissue perfusion. Decreased tissue perfusion refers to decrease in oxygen resulting in failure to nourish tissues at the capillary level (Wilson, 2012). Reduced tissue perfusion causes the body to become distressed because it is not receiving enough oxygen. This causes the blood to shunt to the core of the body where the vital organs are located, such as the heart and the brain (Grossman Porth, 2014). Since the client suffered from ... • 35. The Best Things About Earning A Passive Income One of the best things about earning a passive income is that there is no skill or knowledge glass ceiling when it comes to doing so. It does not matter if you are a PHD student, a doctor with 20 years of experience, or a person who did not finish high school, anybody can earn a passive income. A good demonstration of this is EBook writing; it may sound daunting at first, but anyone can do it. Experts (job recruiters, psychologists, marriage counselors, dietitians, personal trainers, hypnotists, etc.) Instructors (yoga, piano, etc.) Coaches (sports coach, vocal coach, life coach, business coach, etc.) Teachers (language, cooking, etc.) These are all very diverse professions, each requiring a different skill set, yet anyone in these professions could write a bestselling EBook just based off their experiences. So, as you can see, it does not matter who you are, as long as you are willing to work at it, you can build a very impressive passive income. You do not have to be a professional either. All the above professions went through some form of professional training, but even if you did not, you can still write a great EBook. Some people may get intimidated because their writing is not good, or they do not think anyone will read it; but look, the EBook you write does not have to be the next War and Peace; they simply have to help your potential readership. The key is to focus on a problem or question that your potential readers could have, and to solve that problem ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

For that, Ockham s razor denied the objection to the mind body dualism because it assumed too much. Along with that, materialism was able to prove that without having a soul, computers can still be intelligent like a human. Functionalism was an influence that made people believe in the possibility that machines can be intelligent. The date when the battle of Normandy took place was during world war 2 and the other countries who fought alongside should also celebrate. • 51. How Does One Sacrifice Something That Can t Be Held But... Here is a riddle I learned during this school year. How does one sacrifice something that can t be held but measured? If it can t be held, how can you give someone yours? Last clue: If it can be measured why can t you save it up for different purposes? What are we talking about here? After three clues you should have answered time. So how do people sacrifice time that can be measured, not held, and not given? For that answer we need to talk to a god. Chronos is a Greek god of time, but unlike other gods, sacrificing time wouldn t t please him. I have learned this firsthand by mostly trial and error. My trial and error tests had me sitting on my comfy couch, legs up, facing my 60 inch (measured diagonally) watching a TV show. My MacBook computer would be on my lap being ignored even though I had every intention to start my schoolwork. If Chronos was sitting next to me, the Greek god would smell of times lost and be fuming from his mouths, all three of them. I was in every sense sacrificing time rather then using it wisely. In a deep echoing god like voice Chrono honors me with the best advice the Greek god of time could give, Use my time wisely or before you know it, your time will be up mortal. The Greek gods statement rang true to the same pitch of my ears as I turned off the TV and started my paper. I turned my head to face face face Chronos and responded in my mortal weak words responding, Use it or loose it? The gods six eyes all squint in unison at ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Relationship Between Buyer And Buyer There are two main types of buyer and seller relationships. The buyer is the person or organisation that purchases products from suppliers. A buyer could be a manufacturer purchasing raw materials or a customer buying a finished product from a retailer. The relationship between the buyer and seller can be either short term (once off or low commitment purchases) or long term, involving regular purchases based on established agreements. The success of a good buyer seller relationship is that they understand each other and have a good fit . But who are the partners in the supply chain relationship?? That value can be based on services, quality, on time deliveries, returns management, or some combination of these. It s what makes buyers increase their percentage of purchases from individual suppliers for the long run. This provides a double edged benefit for suppliers: when a buyer increases its purchase of a needed material or product or goods, this not only enhances the chosen supplier s bottom line, but also negatively impacts the competition. Further, this increased collaboration between supply chain buyer and seller leads to another valuable outcome: increased efficiencies. The Longer the Collaboration, the Lower the Costs One of the greatest benefits from long term supply chain collaboration (and one that consistently delights operationally oriented managers) are the cost savings that result from routine procedures over the life of the relationship. When buyers and suppliers begin a relationship, there interactions often are fraught with inefficiencies and expensive company legacy s , adding to the cost of doing business in year one. In year two, however, procedures typically become more streamlined, issues in IT are worked through, and interpersonal relationships between organizations become more ...
