Community Emergency Response Team ( Cert )
Introduction
When a disaster has taken place, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be
equipped to meet the demands for many services. Several issues such as the number of victims,
communication failures and road blockages will stop people from accessing emergency services they
have come to expect at a moment s notice through 911 emergency services. Individuals will have to
rely on others for help in order to meet their immediate lifesaving and life sustaining needs. If access
is blocked or the agency s capacity is exceeded, it may be hours or days before trained help arrives.
There is a four phase model that organizes the events of emergency managers. This model is known as
the life cycle which includes dour ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the text, disasters are more than common emergencies such as those of traffic accidents,
personal injuries, or house fires general in communities (Disaster Recovery; 19). Other events can
result in a disaster requiring this Disaster Recovery Plan to be activated:
Fire
Flash flood
Pandemic
Power Outage
Theft
Terrorist Attack
Purpose
The purpose for this Disaster Recovery Plan is to primarily maintain all of the information and
material appropriate to the initiative s ability to survive a disaster, and to document all the phases that
the initiative will take if a disaster does occur. The first priority of the TC MACT if a disaster does
occur is to prevent the loss of lives. In order to move to the second step, we must guarantee all
personnel and other members on the premises are safe and secure. Once we can guarantee the safety
of individuals, the next objective of the TC MACT will be to ratify the steps outlined in this DRP to
bring all of the agencies, groups and departments back to business as usual as quickly as possible.
Although CERT programs vary in some ways, they all share the potential to offer significant benefits
to their sponsoring organizations, their communities and their citizens. As with any activity, there is
risk.
History
The Community Emergency Response Team notion was established and implemented by the Los
Angeles City Fire Department in 1985. The Whittier Narrows earthquake

Media And Crime Analysis
Media plays a crucial role in bringing the depiction to the public about the knowledge about crimes.
The public s opinion is greatly influenced by the way the media presents the crimes committed as well
as the awareness of the police. This means, therefore, if the media is accountable for the reports
presented on televisions, and social media platforms, the conclusions were drawn by the public about
crime incidences depends on the information presented by the media (Barak, 2013). Print media
industry extensively produces copies that cover crime stories to boost their industry by selling large.
Stories are crafted, sensationalized with the prospects to grab the attention of the public with stories
that are not always true. For instance, watching ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Legend Of Zelda
One of Nintendo s most distinguished franchises is the Legend of Zelda, and this year marks the 30th
anniversary of the acclaimed series. Over the past three decades, not only has the series grown, but it
has also assisted in helping to advance the video game industry. Many modern day action adventure
games owe a lot to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, and the franchise continues to innovate by
introducing new gameplay concepts. Coinciding with the 30th anniversary, 2016 celebrates the 10th

Evolution Of Evolution And Genetics
Biologists have been studying evolution and genetics to further advance human knowledge, discover
the human origins, and to eliminate human illnesses. Biologists like Lamark and Darwin have
contributed much knowledge to the biology community and have helped many grasp the idea of
evolution. But there are still many questions left unanswered; regressive evolution is one of these
puzzling questions left unanswered. Cavefishes may help solve the mystery of why regressive
evolution occurs and biologists have developed to hypothesis to explain this mystery. Additionally,
solving this mystery may further the health of the human race to solve eye related diseases.
Lamark s theory of use and disuse proposes that an organism s structure will steadily evolve and adapt
to its environment, but only if it is being used frequently. Using giraffes, Lamark explains that the
constant stretching of their necks to reach for higher leafs on trees caused giraffes to develop their
long necks. Similarly, according to Lamark if a structure is no longer being used, it will slowly vanish
over time. But people are quick to dismiss the use and disuse theory because he mentions that any
characteristics that a parent acquires throughout their lifetime will be passed on to their offspring. This
is known to not be true because a parent who loses a limb would not mean that their offspring would
also be missing that same limb. Additionally, the discovery of DNA disproves Lamark s theory
because it shows DNA

Olanzapine
The adverse effects of drug drug interactions in patients with schizophrenia and bipolar disorder can
be severe and depends mainly on the pharmacokinetic properties of the drug. Both the distances
between drug targets and the comparison of target neighbors are important when when administering
olanzapine in combination with other drugs due to its effects on the CNS. To avoid severe adverse
effects such as sedation, orthostatic hypotension, tachycardia or transaminase the prescribing drugs in
combination such as olanzapine with fluvoxamine or diazepam should be therapeutically monitored
while drugs such as sertraline will not cause adverse effects. (Spina, E., de Leon, J., (2007)). To

Olanzapine is associated with adverse effects when taken above the safe therapeutic range between 20
to 40 ng/ml, symptoms of toxicity include depression, tachycardia and hyperpryexia,, the effects of
these symptoms are normally more severe in children.. Olanzapine is considered to have a low
mortality rate although serious cases of olanzapine toxicity can lead to possible death. In postmortem
examinations olanzapine is not normally the main cause of death, but is a contributing factor therefore
the involvement of other drugs need to be considered. Early detection of toxicity is vital although
activated charcoal has previously been beneficial in the treatment for an overdose of olanzapine
(Chue, P., Singer, P., (2003)). The use of Olanzapine is contraindicated in patients with diseases such
as dementia or diabetes mellitus. Caution should also be taken when administering olanzapine to
patients with cardiac defects, liver problems and patients with a history of seizures. If allergic to any
of the ingredients within the drug or if the individual is pregnant it should also not be administered.
The dosage of the drug may need to be altered if the individual smokes and the consumption of
alcohol is not also not advised when taking the drug (Keefe, R. S., et al (2014), (Heres, S., et al

Persuasive Essay On Childhood Obesity
A Deeper Look into Childhood Obesity The percentage of children with obesity in the United States
has more than tripled since the 1970s ( Healthy Schools. ). Childhood obesity is a medical condition
that affects children and teenagers who contain excess body fat. This condition is very common today,
having about 3 million cases per year ( Healthy Schools. ). A sign that a child is suffering from obesity
is when their weight is well above the average for a child s height and age. Today about one in five
school children, ages 6 19, are obese ( Healthy Schools. ). I will be addressing the causes, health
complications, treatments, controversy, and supporting obese students. First and foremost, the most
common causes of childhood obesity are genetic factors, overeating, and not exercising enough.
Although obesity may run in a family, it does not determine whether a child will be obese or not (
Obesity in Children ). If a child who comes from a family of obesity, happens to become overweight
like them, the likely cause is due to bad eating and activity habits. Many children today spend more
time inside the house eating and watching television, rather than being active outdoors ( Obesity in
Children ). This is due to the recent popularity of having electronics such as television, games, and
phones serve as entertainment. Another reason for the excessive eating is because parents are often too
busy to cook healthy foods on a regular basis, leaving children to rely on fast food or

Abstract
Steve Cowan is the owner of a distribution company of salon hair products. The company,
Professional Salon Concepts, (PSC) was growing and decided to upgrade their AIS to support the
demands of the company. Steve hired Mike, his brother in law to assist him and the two of them began
to research the different products available believing they could better determine the needs of the
company than a consultant could. After a short time they bought first one and then changing their
minds and bought a second system. After a short training period the new system was installed with
some very problematic first few days. Eventually the system was up ... Show more content on

Missing Features
How could PSC have avoided the problem of the missing features? If PSC had gotten RFPs the
problem of missing features in the system they chose would have been eliminated during the vendor
selection process. However, in the route they did take those features that were important to Steve but
were not included in the AIS could have been included by having a systems requirements list and a
written contract with the specifications explicitly written out.
Conversion and Reporting
How could PSC have avoided some of the conversion and reporting problems it faced? As I stated
before, more time was needed in the testing and training portion of the conversion before the new AIS
went online. One trick I learned from our own system change at the city I work in is to train a few
operators on the new systems during the testing phase and then have them train a few more in their
own departments. By using your own employees to train each other they are gaining a better
understanding of how the system works. This way on the day of the change you have more people
who understand the system and how to fix or correct the things that can go wrong. The more people
you can have trained this way before the system change the better off you will be at the critical
moment.

Essay On The Nullification Crisis
The nullification crisis The nullification crisis was a crisis that began ,1828 when a new tariff was
introduced by Congress that raised the cost of imported manufactured goods. South Carolina was very
disappointed by this, and they campaigned heavily against this tariff. There was defiantly a conflict of
interest in South Carolina because there was a group of people who actually supported the
nullification. These people where known as the nullies. They attempted to pass nullification through
the South Carolina state legislature. However, unionist stood up against the nullies because they felt
that the states didn t hold nullification rights. Nullies felt that the tariff acts of 1828 and 1832 favored
Northern manufacturing at the expense of Southern Farmers. ... Show more content on

Each state retained the right to prevent the enforcement within its borders and John C Calhoun lost
favor with Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson stated Can anyone of common sense believe the
absurdity, that a faction of any state or state has a right to secede and destroy the union and , the
liberty of the country with it? Jackson felt that the union must be preserved and he made sure that he
let that be known. It is believed that Jackson s strong objection to Calhoun stemmed from a scandal
surrounding Jackson s wife Rachel. Jackson s wife was frowned upon because she was viewed as a
bigamist. However, Jackson tried to set the record straight and married his wife legally once her
divorce to her previous husband was finalized. However, that didn t stop the fact that Calhoun s wife
looked down on Jackson s wife Rachel and instructed her friends to do so as well. Jackson s wife was

developed a bad taste in his mouth towards Calhoun and blamed him and his wife for Rachel s demise.

Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground Essay
Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground
In Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground, the Underground Man proposes a radically different
conception of free action from that of Kant. While Kant thinks that an agent is not acting freely unless
he acts for some reason, the Underground Man seems to take the opposite stance: the only way to be
truly autonomous is to reject this notion of freedom, and to affirm one s right to act for no reason. I
will argue that the Underground Man s notion of freedom builds on Kant s, in that it requires self
consciousness in decision making. But he breaks from Kant when he makes the claim that acting for a
reason is not enough, and only provides an illusion of freedom. When faced with the two options of ...

So far, the Underground Man and Kant are in agreement. However, Kant believes that the
endorsement of desires consists of having a reason to act on that desire, a reason based on what we
perceive as some good. The type of good is unspecified it could anything from the satisfaction of
egoistic aims to the betterment of the human race. What is important is that we establish for ourselves
what type of good on which to base our reasons. Free action is impossible unless we formulate our
reasons independently; more specifically, we must decide for ourselves what is a good reason for
acting. Although the Underground Man agrees that we must formulate our own reasons, he rejects the
notion that reasons based on any concept of a perceived good can ever really be our own.
This rejection of reasons as a basis for autonomy stems from his belief that freedom is virtually
impossible in a largely deterministic and evolutionary universe, where everything is determined by the
laws of nature to which he constantly refers. The Underground Man believes that the feeling of
freedom engendered by acting for a reason as opposed to acting blindly is an illusion. He says of men
with limited consciousness that ìthey take immediate and secondary causes for primary ones, and in
this way they are more quickly and easily convinced than others that they have discovered an
indisputable basis for their activityî (19). In other

Do you think that business would do way better if it could reach out further through a website? Fact is
there are 27 million small businesses on this earth, which means there are several products and
services offered, what if these small business had the potential to upscale but the local market wasn t
great enough? Some of the best ran small businesses have websites that has given the business a great
deal of benefits. Some of the benefits that help small businesses are that they help gain credibility,
save money, accessibility, wider range for target market, customer service and, convenience. I would
like to start with one of the most influential effects a website has on a business which is convenience.
Convenience is a very influential factor, usually if a customer can easily find your site you would see
an increase in traffic on your site. Also, If your website is more convenient than your competitors that
will give you a huge advantage over them, while spreading the name of your brand across the country
rapidly. Another beneficial aspect of having a website is it helps your business save more money. A
website can help a business with money from different angles. People automatically think that having
a website could be costly, well not necessarily it depends on how you utilize the tools given. Websites

Assess the Sociological Explanations of the Relationship...
Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks
Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of
science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on
are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but
most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s
globalising world. This can be seen in India. Globalisation has brought rapid economic growth and has
seen India become a more important player in the world political stage. It has brought prosperity to
some, notably the Indian middle class. Nanda shows ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nanda notes that the Indians success in the global market have attributed to Hindu values. These are
constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India
itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and
Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power.
Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees
their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger
argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic.
He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its
members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are
not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For
example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains
backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from
Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. Lehmann says
that it has done this by accompanying globalisations, imposed my indigenous population and in the
past 100 years it has spread because of its popular following. The symbols and

Peter Pan Quotes
J.M. Barrie s novel Peter Pan tells the story of Peter Pan, the boy who would not grow up, and his
adventures in Neverland with Wendy, Michael and John Darling. Barrie s portrayal of Peter Pan
suggests several ideas about childhood. According to Barrie, children have flaws and their creative
imaginations recompense for their imperfection, another idea that is mostly highlighted in the
beginning and end of the book, is that no matter how much you don t want to, growing up is
inevitable. Throughout the book you get the sense that children are lighthearted and nonsensical. For
example, is when Wendy wakes up to Peter s sobs because he couldn t stick his shadow back on, How

too far and without thinking of the consequences. Children can be imprudent, rash, and carefree, as in
trying to stick a shadow on with soap. J.M. Barrie highlights the fact that children have strong,
fantastic imaginations. As the narrator is describing the house under the ground, where Peter, the Lost

Economic Justice Vs Distributive Justice Essay
An average American employee must work for an entire year before he or she earns what the average
American CEO earns in one day (Rezvani, Pirouz 6). The United States GINI coefficient, a measure
of income inequality, sits at 0.590 one of the highest marks in the entire developed world (4). A
majority of wealth sits in the hands of less than one percent of the country and those lucky enough to
fall under this percentage are catered to by politicians in search of reelection. That said, it is easy for
one to wonder whether the We the People mantra has been replaced with a mantra of We the
Corporations (10). Clearly, economic injustices transcend economic issues and affect more than a
citizen s bank account.

In the most general sense, distributive justice refers to justice in the allocation of resources while
commutative justice refers to justice in acts of exchange. Distributive economic justice requires that
every individual should have the moderate income needed for the basic necessities while commutative
economic justice requires that the price of commodities be set at an agreed upon standard of equity
(Macpherson 7). Minimum wage serves as a tool for distributive economic justice as it ensures that
citizens have the means for basic sustenance while the free market system serves as a tool for
commutative economic justice as its grants largely unrestricted access for both consumers and
producers. To date, most of the research regarding economic justice has supported distributive theories
because the main requirement for commutative economic justice, equality of access, is limited by
uncontrollable forces like geography, race, and gender, which can all prevent access to economic

The Maternal Mortality Of South Africa Essay
2.1.1 Background on the maternal and infant/child health in South Africa There are numerous issues
surrounding maternal and infant health in South Africa. The maternal mortality ratio in South Africa is
estimated at 156.5 per 100000 live births (Pattinson et al 2012). It is suggested that 60% of maternal
deaths in South Africa are preventable (Amnesty International 2014). The three leading underlying
causes of maternal mortality in South Africa include: HIV/AIDS, hypertension and obstetric
haemorrhage (Pattison et al 2012). Approximately 30% of South African pregnant women and girls
are HIV positive (Amnesty International 2014; DOH 2013a). KwaZulu Natal is the province with the
highest prevalence of HIV at 37.4% for pregnant women (DOH 2013b). Hypertension and obstetric
haemorrhage can be avoided through appropriate nutrition and dietary related practices (Bradshaw et
al 2008).
In South Africa, one in three women have a mental problem during or shortly after the pregnancy
period [Field Honikman 2015; Mental Health and Poverty Project (MHaPP) 2010]. This statistic is
three times higher the rate in developed countries (MHaPP 2010). Mental illness is common in South
Africa since many women develop psychological stress during and after pregnancy (Field Honikman
2015). Women vulnerable to mental illness include those: living in poverty, experiencing violence or
abuse, with HIV/AIDS and those with unplanned pregnancy (Field Honikman 2015).

One reason the costs increase is related to the fact that a patient who develops VAP increases their
length of stay in the ICU an additional 4 to 9 days. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
has listed VAP as a preventable disease; this could lead to hospitals not being reimbursed for care of
patients who develop VAP (Sedwick, Lance Smith, Reeder, Nardi, 2012). Promoting strategies to
improve this quality measure is imperative because critically ill patients are more vulnerable and
susceptible to infections. The focus of ICU s and the nurses who work there is providing care that
patients need and ensuring quality and safety. The purpose of this health care quality indicator is to
help nurses and physicians reduce the occurrences of VAP, resulting in reduced mortality and
morbidity among ICU patients who are mechanically ventilated, and to reduce costs for hospitals.
Quality Improvement Process The Centers for Disease Control s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety
Network (NHSN) is used nationwide to track healthcare associated infections. NHSN provides data
needed to identify problem areas, measure the progress of prevention, and help to eliminate healthcare
associated infections (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2015a). The NHSN provides a
surveillance tool that hospitals can use to track VAP events. The CDC

highly educated immigrants who have come to pursue careers in science and medicine, many of which

Examples Of Calvinism In The Devil And Tom Walker
The Devil and Tom Walker (1824) by Washington Irving is a faustian tale about a man named Tom
Walker who develops a relationship and strikes a life altering deal with the devil. The short story takes
place in the time period of 1727 near Boston, Massachusetts when Puritans were very prevalent and
the ideas of Calvinism were contemplated by many. A main aspect of Calvinism Washington Irving
disagrees with is called predestination. This belief is when one does not have control of their afterlife
because it is already chosen by God. I ll be exploring Calvinist and Puritan beliefs along with the
concept of the faustian deal to show why Irving had Tom Walker agree to such a lopsided pact with
the devil. To further understand Tom Walker s personality and how it contradicted Calvinism, I will
also be exploring what was the perception of death for Bostonian Puritans around 1727?
Understanding the Puritan perception of death is central to understanding why Tom easily sold his
soul to the devil. Through the encounter with the devil at the Native American stronghold, Tom s wife
dying and the faustian deal, Washington Irving shows he is against the Calvinist belief of
predestination brought to the Massachusetts Bay colonies. The nature of the Native American
stronghold and remarks said here by the devil are interesting examples of how Washington Irving
shows he is against the concept of predestination. Predestination is both introduced for the first time in
the short story and is

Essay On Macromolecules
Introduction
The main objective of the laboratory experiment was to test for the presence of protein, starch,
glycogen, and reducing sugars in 12 different samples using various assessments in order to ultimately
identify the unknown sample #26 as one of the four macromolecule groups.
Macromolecules consist of polymers formed by the linkage of small subunits called monomers
(Alberts et al., 2014). The four major groups are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids
(Alberts et al., 2014). The 12 samples that were tested on in this laboratory experiment included
protein, beer, distilled water, honey, 0.3% glucose 1 phosphate, and 1% glucose, maltose, sucrose,
lactose, glycogen, and starch solutions, as well as the unknown sample #26. In order to identify
whether or not a macromolecule is present in a sample solution, each test has positive and negative
controls. In this case, a positive control reveals that the specific macromolecule being tested for is
present, whereas a negative control indicates that a reaction did not occur and the macromolecule
being tested for is not present (Johnson Besselsen, 2002).
The first test that was conducted was the biuret test to identify the presence of proteins, which are
polymers of amino acid subunits held together ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Great Epics And Tales
Mythology is one of the most interesting parts of a culture. It reveals customs, history and traditions
like no other. Above all it defines the way of living and reflects the mentality of an entire civilization.
Almost every society in this world has faced sexism in one form or the other. Some societies chose to
fight it and bring a change. On the other hand there are a few societies where sexism became a way of
life. It is instilled in the minds of the people and passed from one generation to another. It is not
questioned. Instead, It is accepted. Can mythology have a role in this acceptance of sexism in a
society? Like everything, blind faith in the great mythological epics also comes with a price. We fail

Louisville And Nashville R. V. Mottley Summary
Case Citation: Louisville and Nashville R. Co. v. Mottley, 211 U.S. 149 (1908)
Parties: Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, Petitioner E.L Mottley and Annie E. Mottley,
Defendants
Facts: E.L. Mottley and his wife, Annie E. Mottley, (plaintiffs) were passengers on board a train
operated by the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company (defendants). Both the plaintiffs and the
defendant are citizens of the state of Kentucky. The plaintiffs, while passengers on board a train, were
injured in a train wreck on September 7, 1871. The defendants offered the injured plaintiffs a free pass
from the defendant s railroad company in exchange for the agreement that they would not bring suit
upon the defendant. The plaintiffs accepted the free passes which would be renewed yearly. Several
decades later, in 1906, a law was passed by the U.S. Congress banning free railroad passes. This was
passed in order to prevent bribery on government workers and officials. This caused the defendant to
refuse the plaintiffs renewal of their free passes in which they then filed suit for specific performance
in the Circuit Court for the Western District of Kentucky. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

They also argued that if the law passed by congress did apply to them then the law should be

Circuit court overruled and awarded relief to the plaintiffs. The defendants then appealed straight to

Trudeau fought for Canada to be a country of many languages and cultures, he did this by introducing
The Official Languages Act. In 1969 Trudeau established The Official Languages Act, this made
English and French the official languages of Canada. It required all federal institutions to provide
services in English and French. The Act was passed on the recommendation of the Royal Commission
on Bilingualism and Biculturalism on 7 September 1969. The act was to ensure respect and equality of
all rights and privileges as to their use in all federal institutions. The act supported the development of
English and French linguistic minority communities and advanced the equality of English and French
languages within Canada s society. Trudeau truly lead Canada to success and wanted the nation to
become more diverse. Trudeau noted, Bilingualism means you can speak to the other; duality means
you live in one language and the rest of Canada will live in another language. Trudeau strongly pushed
for Canada to be Bilingual and thought it would make Canada stronger as a country. Trudeau felt that
Quebec had to be less isolated and that it would allow French Canadians to maintain their culture
while playing part in a key role in Canada. It was because of Pierre Elliott Trudeau that Canada kept

Swimming Is Not A Natural Act
Most people believe that the most efficient and effective way to lose weight is either by jogging or
running. They think this because running is done on land, involves very hard movements of the arms
and legs, and their heartrates are going at 5 beats per second. People always seem to forget that a
better, easier and less vigorous way to get fit is through swimming. Swimming is moving your body
through a body of water, either a pool or ocean, using your arms and legs, while running is moving
quickly on land with your feet. Swimming is not a natural act but a learned talent. According to Dr.
Howard Wainer, a swimmer and statistician at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J., the
human body was not meant to move quickly through water.
Most people believe that its harder to run than to swim but the fact is that it s harder to swim. In
swimming water acts as the resistance while in running, air is the resistance. Water is a lot thicker than
air which makes it harder to move through. When running, performance peters out as the distances get
longer but in swimming the pace is consistent regardless of the distance.
Swimming has a lot of benefits which most people don t know about. Swimming keeps your heartrate
up without overstressing the body. It builds endurance, muscle strength and cardiovascular fitness.
Swimming also keeps the heart and the lungs healthy. All the muscles are used while swimming so it s
a good all over body workout. Also, according to research done

individual is an opponent of the truth; their virtues and ethics are deficient. In the United States,
people in all positions of private district, public assistance, and government bureaus have been

This corruption affects the trust of the public and threatens the safety of the nation. Each act of
corruption from a public servant can have extenuating results reaching far beyond those initially
involved in the offense. Most officials who serve the public strive to enhance the lives of Americans,
but several make choices to go against the law because of unethical motives. These reasons usually
include assembling a larger bank account for themselves or their families. Public officials involved in
corruption offenses have come from employees who work at city hall, police departments, schools,
courts, transportation, zoning or health departments, and governmental offices. Politicians in all
sectors of politics are not immune to public corruption either. The FBI, in 2005 made public
corruption number four on their top ten orders of investigative priorities. The FBI began a national

They use skills in surveillance in both the cyber world and undercover operations. The FBI officials

The Depletion Of The Bee Population
While often only appreciated for their honey, honeybees are responsible for pollinating about one third
of the food that the human population consumes. Bees provide us with fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables,
coffee, and so much more. This is why the depletion of the bee population beginning in 2006 was, and
as it continues, so concerning. The term Colony Collapse Disorder refers to a phenomenon in which
worker bees vanish from the hive, leaving the queen and larvae unattended, and thus the bee colony
ceases to function and collapses. This is happening throughout the United States at an alarming rate,
and while one distinct cause for CCD has yet to be found, scientists have narrowed it down to a few
possible reasons.
Honeybees are social insects that live in eusocial communities in which the bees partake in complex
activities and live in well organized groups. There are three types of bees that exist within the hive: the
queen, the drone, and the worker. Each colony has one queen bee, whose primary function is
reproduction. She also produces pheremones which represses the ovarian development in the worker
bees which unifies the colony and maintains her position as queen, until a new one takes over. Drones
are the male bees of the colony, and their sole purpose within the hive is for reproduction. Worker bees
perform all of the duties to maintain the hive, including building cells, care for and feed the young,
care for the queen, handle nectar to produce honey, and guard the

Film Differences And Cultural Differences
Some people delude themselves that having freedom means to disregard the human rights of other
people. Everyone has the rights to express one s idea, belief, and thoughts, but there is an invisible
limit to the expressions. When the expressions hurt other people emotionally or physically, one needs
to recognize that the action has to be fixed. This process usually happens as people grow up learning
how to socially behave in the communities. However, the human rights of some people are still being
violated in the public. One of the biggest stages of it is in the mainstream media including the
Hollywood. Hollywood is one of the most impactful media sources that produces global film works.
People live together and no one can live on their own in this society, and for this reason, everyone
should know that individuals have the responsibility of keeping the rights of others. With heavier
respect to be in such positions, Hollywood writers and directors have a social responsibility to avoid
stereotyping ethnic characters for three reasons: to respect the individual cultural differences, due to
the large impact of the media, and for the opportunity to obtain further creativity. At first, Hollywood
writers and directors should have a social responsibility to avoid ethnic characters to respect the
individual cultural differences simply as a human being. People fight for the rights of genders, races,

Effects Of The Treaty Of Versailles
November 11, 1918, Europe would be left in utter devastation from the effects of World War I. These
effects which would have unprecedented effect on the development on European nations into modern
nations. However, the immediate impact of the policies and treaties created by the Big Four (Great
Britain, Italy, France and The United States) would leave devastating irreversible consequences on the
Great War s losers. The most important treaty that the allies would make would be The Treaty of
Versailles, signed on June 28th, 1919. This treaty would have the most destructive consequences on
Germany, whom would become bitter, nationalistic, and isolated from its effects. As Holborn puts it,
the treaty did not solve the problem of reparations, which was not settled for years to come in a
fashion that would have stabilized the social and economic conditions of Europe. The struggle about
the economic settlement of World War I kept alive and magnified the national hostilities which the
political provinces of the peace produced. 1 The Treaty of Versailles would require Germany to
surrender vast amounts of territory in Europe and oversea, diminish its military might significantly,
impose insurmountable financial and economic demands, as well as making her accept the War Guilt
Clause; this in turn would make the Germans feel a national humiliation and cause tremendous resent,
this in turn would lead to the rise of authoritarianism, expansionism and the public demand for
redemption.

George Eastman Biography
George Eastman Kodak Camera
George Eastman was many things. He left a great legacy for himself and established an amazing
foundation for the Kodak Camera. Before starting any type of work in any field, he went to public
school for seven years. Public education is where he got the foundational education for his later
camera invention. He didn t begin his camera work until much later in life.
In his early working years, he was well established in an insurance office, a book office, and studied
scientific books for his own knowledge. These early jobs didn t pay well, however, they allowed him
to earn a living to support his family before becoming extremely wealthy. Eastman sacrificed many
things in his early life including family opportunities, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although many didn t believe there was one person in his life that did and that came from his business
work. The business man that he worked for at a young age saw his full potential and believed that
whatever he put his mind too he could accomplish. While he was still working for the bank in
Rochester, New York, Eastman became seriously interested in photography (source 3). He was only
able to be interested in new things because someone else believed in him. Starting small Eastman
decided to open his own business, so that he could learn how to run a company and to create a good
reputation for himself without people making opinions without knowing anything about him.
After creating a steady business and allowing for people to learn his true potential he was able to
begin early research work. The clerical work at the insurance office did not absorb all of young
Eastman s energies, as his trips to Niagara Falls, Boston, Maine, and Chicago indicate
(source 1). The early work that he began didn t turn out as well as it could have, however because he
now had the support of the surrounding people he was able to get through

Becoming A Drummer Instrument Analysis
Learning to become a percussionist/drummer wasn t an easy task. Learning an instrument takes quite a
lot of interest in music, as well as many hours of practice to perfect it. Learning an instrument was
always the goal in mind. I started trying to play the guitar and that did not work out for me because i
could not keep interested, I tried piano which kept me sitting down with minimal movement for long
periods of time, and finally i tried drumming which gave me what i wasn t getting out of the other
instruments. Being able to move all 4 limbs to play in time with a song, and to enjoy playing the
instrument for extended periods of time without getting bored. It s really how you want to find the
right instrument for you, and in my case it was the drums. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows you to get a feel for the instrument before you actually have to listen t someone else
telling you how to play. This helped greatly while trying to pick up an instrument because it allows
you to see what level of play you have before you start to take a lesson. When you actually go into
your lessons for the first time you ll begin to learn things like how to create a basic beat or hold a
tempo. Learning this within the lesson gives confidence to the student by being able to play there first
beat with just one lesson. Learning this allows the student to go home and explore more ways to go at
the same beat and actually keep engaged without getting bored. After about a year I started to lack on
practicing and what really kept me from dropping the instrument was joining a band of 3 other kids
with the same musical talent, to practice and actually compose songs. Keeping your practice fun is
what makes you come back and want to keep playing, and for me, having the other 3 kids push me to
better myself is what really led to me pursuing my

The Founder Of The Popular Fast Food Franchise
The founder of the popular fast food franchise, Wendy s, is Dave Thomas. He was born in Atlantic
City, New Jersey in 1932. Dave s adoptive mother died when he was still a child. He spent his
childhood moving from city to city while his adoptive father tried to find work. Dave spent a lot of
summers in Michigan with his Grandmother and she became a huge influence on Dave. She taught
Dave the importance of product quality, good service, and respect. Dave did not get a lot of alone time
with his father, but when they did they would go eat at neighborhood cafes that sold good burgers.
Dave loved watching families sit together and enjoy sharing a meal. These trips to cafes are what led
Dave to decide to own a restaurant one day. At age nine, Dave had become an expert on the type of
quality and service a business should provide. He began to work in the restaurant business at age 12,
but he was fired a lot because he was underage. Dave then began working at the restaurant Hobby
House at age 15. He started as a bus boy and eventually moved to the front of the kitchen. Dave knew
that if he was going to own a restaurant one day, he would need to know how to do every job. His
family moved again and he stayed behind. Dave lived alone at the YMCA at age 15. After he went
into the army at age 18, Dave returned to the Hobby House and eventually married one of the
waitresses. He also met Colonel Harland Sanders who founded the Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise.

Ultra Vires Essay

7. Ultra Vires Torts.
INJUNCTIONS
In the first place, that the members are entitled to hold a registered company to its registered objects
has been recognized long since. Hence whenever an ultra vires act has been or is about to be
undertaken, any member of the company can get an injunction to restrain it from proceeding with it. In
this case the House of Lords observed that the doctrine of ultra vires, as it was explained in the
Ashbury s case, should be maintained. But it ought to be reasonably and not unreasonably understood
and applied and that whatever may fairly be regarded as incidental to the objects authorized ought not
to be held ultra vires, unless it is expressly prohibited.
Accordingly in London County Council V Attorney General , the council having statutory power to
work tramways was restrained from running omnibus in connection with tramways. The court found
that the omnibus business was in no way incidental to the business of working tramways, and
therefore, could not be undertaken although it might have materially contributed to the ... Show more

To put it in other words, that ultra vires contract is void and without any legal effect, which may cause
hardship to innocent persons who are unaware with the capacity of the company to enter in to such

Carriage Iron Co. V Riche , concluded that an ultra vires contract being void abinitio which cannot
become intra vires by reason of estoppels, lapse of time, delay or acquiescence.
The incapacity of the company to make contract sometimes caused great injustice and hardships to the
person who had no knowledge of such incapacity of the company. For example, in Beauforte (Jon)

Forgiveness And The Future
Forgiving is often a conscious decision to let go of the pain, anger and bitterness arising from hurtful
situations, then move on and live our lives the best we can despite the past. Forgiveness can take time
and it can be difficult, but it s essential for boosting happiness, mental and physical health.
Forgiveness is a funny thing; it warms the heart and cools the sting. William Arthur Ward Forgiveness
does not change the past, but it does enlarge the future. Paul Boese.
The more I know, the less I understand. All the things I thought I knew, I m learning again. The more i
introspect the more ia become inexcusable, unforgivable. But i strive hard to forgive myself and to

The nature gives seasons. From morning to night, as from cradle to the grave, is but a succession of
changes so gentle and easy that we can scarcely mark their progress. The process of change and
challenge is always at work. For some change brings cheer, whereas for others it may mean moments
of chagrin. Both painful and pleasant, a shift from the established order to a new one is inevitable.
There is no monotony.
The breakup of joint family system in India is a case for study and a standing example of change that
has overtaken us so fast. The emergence of nuclear family is a telling tribute to the process of change
over which we have no control whatsoever. That the Indian society is at the crossroads is not a matter
of fiction, but a vigorous reality.
The glamour and glitter that we see around is the result of consistent and conscious efforts that have
gone into the making of changing patterns of society everywhere under the sun. Change is not made
without inconvenience, even from worse to better. Richard Hooker.
As social beings we get so attuned to old customs and conventions that it takes a lot of persuasion and
even pressure to adjust to the new realities that time throws

Oceanology Memo
Hello, it s Steven, it been awhile since we last spoke or well in this case wrote. How have you been? I
am great currently I am taking an oceanology course at San Francisco State University. I am writing
this letter is to inform you what I have learned and to let you know on how to protect our ocean from
future harm because of pollution. I thought of you, because I remembered that you love to swim and
go to the beach, so I want to let you know on how to control pollution and, inform you how
contamination is spreading into our planet and home, the Earth. The Earth is an amazing place it has
oceans, forests, and lands; the Earth is primarily dominated by water. And as of such there is pollution
within the ocean. Pollution in the ocean is unsafe, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Based on the article by National Geographic, there is a giant island made of trash. The name of this
trash island is the great pacific garbage patch. This patch is about 20 million square kilometers. Based
on the amount of garbage collected there is about 70% of all the garbage there sinking to the bottom of
the ocean(National Geographic). The garbage in the ocean are not able to decompose so they just sit
there within the ocean. Trash in the ocean is also a safety hazard for marine life. The garbage their kill
animals like turtles or albatross, birds (National Geographic). The problem with the gyre is that it is
still growing, pollution is still entering our ocean and are not decomposing. The trash also hold
chemicals that is harmful to the environment. Examples can be that decomposing bottles leak out
bisphenol A or BPA for short; BPA can lead to many environmental and health problems (National
Geographic). Data from NOAA tells us that these gyres of garbage are formed by the circulation of
wind and wave actions (NOAA). The ocean holds many wonderful life and creatures, but we humans
are not always considerate of other lives, so as a result we end up hurting our home and our

The Legacy Of The Capitol
For eight years, it has been my honor to serve as your President. The first decade of this new century
has been a period of consequence a time set apart. Tonight, with a thankful heart, I have asked for a
final opportunity to share some thoughts on the journey that we have traveled together, and the future
of our nation.
Five days from now, the world will witness the vitality of American democracy. In a tradition dating
back to our founding, the presidency will pass to a successor chosen by you, the American people.
Standing on the steps of the Capitol will be a man whose history reflects the enduring promise of our
land. This is a moment of hope and pride for our whole nation. And I join all Americans in offering

Every morning, I received a briefing on the threats to our nation. I vowed to do everything in my
power to keep us safe.
Over the past seven years, a new Department of Homeland Security has been created. The military, the
intelligence community, and the FBI have been transformed. Our nation is equipped with new tools to
monitor the terrorists movements, freeze their finances, and break up their plots. And with strong
allies at our side, we have taken the fight to the terrorists and those who support them. Afghanistan has
gone from a nation where the Taliban harbored al Qaeda and stoned women in the streets to a young
democracy that is fighting terror and encouraging girls to go to school. Iraq has gone from a brutal
dictatorship and a sworn enemy of America to an Arab democracy at the heart of the Middle East and
a friend of the United States.
There is legitimate debate about many of these decisions. But there can be little debate about the
results. America has gone more than seven years without another terrorist attack on our soil. This is a
tribute to those who toil night and day to keep us safe law enforcement officers, intelligence analysts,
homeland security and diplomatic personnel, and the men and women of the United States Armed
Forces.
Our nation is blessed to have citizens who volunteer to defend us in this time of danger. I have
cherished meeting these selfless patriots and their families. And America owes you a debt of gratitude.
And to all our men and

  • 2. Community Emergency Response Team ( Cert ) Introduction When a disaster has taken place, first responders who provide fire and medical services will not be equipped to meet the demands for many services. Several issues such as the number of victims, communication failures and road blockages will stop people from accessing emergency services they have come to expect at a moment s notice through 911 emergency services. Individuals will have to rely on others for help in order to meet their immediate lifesaving and life sustaining needs. The first priority of the TC MACT if a disaster does occur is to prevent the loss of lives. In order to move to the second step, we must guarantee all personnel and other members on the premises are safe and secure. Once we can guarantee the safety of individuals, the next objective of the TC MACT will be to ratify the steps outlined in this DRP to bring all of the agencies, groups and departments back to business as usual as quickly as possible. The public s opinion is greatly influenced by the way the media presents the crimes committed as well as the awareness of the police. Biologists like Lamark and Darwin have contributed much knowledge to the biology community and have helped many grasp the idea of evolution. But there are still many questions left unanswered; regressive evolution is one of these puzzling questions left unanswered. Cavefishes may help solve the mystery of why regressive evolution occurs and biologists have developed to hypothesis to explain this mystery. Additionally, solving this mystery may further the health of the human race to solve eye related diseases. Lamark s theory of use and disuse proposes that an organism s structure will steadily evolve and adapt to its environment, but only if it is being used frequently. Using giraffes, Lamark explains that the constant stretching of their necks to reach for higher leafs on trees caused giraffes to develop their long necks. Similarly, according to Lamark if a structure is no longer being used, it will slowly vanish over time. But people are quick to dismiss the use and disuse theory because he mentions that any characteristics that a parent acquires throughout their lifetime will be passed on to their offspring. This is known to not be true because a parent who loses a limb would not mean that their offspring would also be missing that same limb. Additionally, the discovery of DNA disproves Lamark s theory because it shows DNA ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Persuasive Essay On Childhood Obesity A Deeper Look into Childhood Obesity The percentage of children with obesity in the United States has more than tripled since the 1970s ( Healthy Schools. ). Childhood obesity is a medical condition that affects children and teenagers who contain excess body fat. This condition is very common today, having about 3 million cases per year ( Healthy Schools. ). A sign that a child is suffering from obesity is when their weight is well above the average for a child s height and age. Today about one in five school children, ages 6 19, are obese ( Healthy Schools. ). I will be addressing the causes, health complications, treatments, controversy, and supporting obese students. First and foremost, the most common causes of childhood obesity are genetic factors, overeating, and not exercising enough. Although obesity may run in a family, it does not determine whether a child will be obese or not ( Obesity in Children ). If a child who comes from a family of obesity, happens to become overweight like them, the likely cause is due to bad eating and activity habits. Many children today spend more time inside the house eating and watching television, rather than being active outdoors ( Obesity in Children ). This is due to the recent popularity of having electronics such as television, games, and phones serve as entertainment. Another reason for the excessive eating is because parents are often too busy to cook healthy foods on a regular basis, leaving children to rely on fast food or ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Missing Features How could PSC have avoided the problem of the missing features? If PSC had gotten RFPs the problem of missing features in the system they chose would have been eliminated during the vendor selection process. Conversion and Reporting How could PSC have avoided some of the conversion and reporting problems it faced? As I stated before, more time was needed in the testing and training portion of the conversion before the new AIS went online. One trick I learned from our own system change at the city I work in is to train a few operators on the new systems during the testing phase and then have them train a few more in their own departments. By using your own employees to train each other they are gaining a better understanding of how the system works. This way on the day of the change you have more people who understand the system and how to fix or correct the things that can go wrong. The more people you can have trained this way before the system change the better off you will be at the critical moment. Steve s Analysis Steve s analysis of the numbers is incomplete in my opinion. There was defiantly a conflict of interest in South Carolina because there was a group of people who actually supported the nullification. These people where known as the nullies. Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground Essay Freedom in Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground In Dostoevsky s Notes from Underground, the Underground Man proposes a radically different conception of free action from that of Kant. While Kant thinks that an agent is not acting freely unless he acts for some reason, the Underground Man seems to take the opposite stance: the only way to be truly autonomous is to reject this notion of freedom, and to affirm one s right to act for no reason. I will argue that the Underground Man s notion of freedom builds on Kant s, in that it requires self consciousness in decision making. But he breaks from Kant when he makes the claim that acting for a reason is not enough, and only provides an illusion of freedom. When faced with the two options of ... However, Kant believes that the endorsement of desires consists of having a reason to act on that desire, a reason based on what we perceive as some good. The type of good is unspecified it could anything from the satisfaction of egoistic aims to the betterment of the human race. What is important is that we establish for ourselves what type of good on which to base our reasons. Free action is impossible unless we formulate our reasons independently; more specifically, we must decide for ourselves what is a good reason for acting. Although the Underground Man agrees that we must formulate our own reasons, he rejects the notion that reasons based on any concept of a perceived good can ever really be our own. This rejection of reasons as a basis for autonomy stems from his belief that freedom is virtually impossible in a largely deterministic and evolutionary universe, where everything is determined by the laws of nature to which he constantly refers. The Underground Man believes that the feeling of freedom engendered by acting for a reason as opposed to acting blindly is an illusion. He says of men with limited consciousness that ìthey take immediate and secondary causes for primary ones, and in this way they are more quickly and easily convinced than others that they have discovered an indisputable basis for their activityî (19). Assess the sociological explanations of the relationship between globalisation and religion. 33 marks Secularisation theory has argued that modernisation has undermined religion. The importance of science and technology on economic development and rational worldview on which they depend on are seen as destroying the belief in supernatural. However religion can contribute to development, but most recently sociologists have examined what role religion may play in development in today s globalising world. This can be seen in India. Globalisation has brought rapid economic growth and has seen India become a more important player in the world political stage. It has brought prosperity to some, notably the Indian middle class. These are constantly promoted by media and politicians. Ultra nationalism, worshiping Hindu gods and India itself has become a civil religion. In recent years the East Asia tiger economies such as Korea and Singapore are now becoming industrialised. Also China has become a major global power. Sociologists argue that this success is because of religion acting similar to Calvinism. Redding sees their post Confucian values as encouraging, similar to the protestant work ethic. Similarly Berger argues that Pentecostalism in Latin America acts as a functional equivalent to Weber s protestant ethic. He says that they embrace the work ethic and lifestyle of Calvinists aspect of life which in result its members continue to prosper. However Berger underlines Weber s point that religious ideas alone are not enough to produce economic development. He says that natural resources are also needed. For example while Protestantism has grown in northern Brazil, the religion lacks resources and remains backwards. By contrast, the south, which is developing rapidly, has both a work ethic derived from Pentecostalism and the necessary resources. Christianity has also become globalised. • 19. The Maternal Mortality Of South Africa Essay 2.1.1 Background on the maternal and infant/child health in South Africa There are numerous issues surrounding maternal and infant health in South Africa. The maternal mortality ratio in South Africa is estimated at 156.5 per 100000 live births (Pattinson et al 2012). It is suggested that 60% of maternal deaths in South Africa are preventable (Amnesty International 2014). The three leading underlying causes of maternal mortality in South Africa include: HIV/AIDS, hypertension and obstetric haemorrhage (Pattison et al 2012). Approximately 30% of South African pregnant women and girls are HIV positive (Amnesty International 2014; DOH 2013a). KwaZulu Natal is the province with the highest prevalence of HIV at 37.4% for pregnant women (DOH 2013b). Hypertension and obstetric haemorrhage can be avoided through appropriate nutrition and dietary related practices (Bradshaw et al 2008). In South Africa, one in three women have a mental problem during or shortly after the pregnancy period [Field Honikman 2015; Mental Health and Poverty Project (MHaPP) 2010]. Ventilator Associated Pneumoni Pneumonia Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Karissa Ellison George Washington University Ventilator Associated Pneumonia Introduction Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is defined as pneumonia in a patient who is intubated and ventilated at the time of the onset of the event or 48 hours before, and VAP rate as the number of ventilator associated pneumonias per 1,000 ventilator days (Institute for Healthcare Improvement, 2014a). The Institute for Healthcare Improvement (IHI) gives the following example of how to calculate the number of VAP s in a month: if 25 patients were ventilated during the month and, for purposes of example, each was on mechanical ventilation for 3 days, the number of ventilator days would be 25 x 3 = 75 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One reason the costs increase is related to the fact that a patient who develops VAP increases their length of stay in the ICU an additional 4 to 9 days. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services has listed VAP as a preventable disease; this could lead to hospitals not being reimbursed for care of patients who develop VAP (Sedwick, Lance Smith, Reeder, Nardi, 2012). Promoting strategies to improve this quality measure is imperative because critically ill patients are more vulnerable and susceptible to infections. The focus of ICU s and the nurses who work there is providing care that patients need and ensuring quality and safety. The purpose of this health care quality indicator is to help nurses and physicians reduce the occurrences of VAP, resulting in reduced mortality and morbidity among ICU patients who are mechanically ventilated, and to reduce costs for hospitals. Quality Improvement Process The Centers for Disease Control s (CDC) National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) is used nationwide to track healthcare associated infections. • 25. Examples Of Calvinism In The Devil And Tom Walker The Devil and Tom Walker (1824) by Washington Irving is a faustian tale about a man named Tom Walker who develops a relationship and strikes a life altering deal with the devil. The short story takes place in the time period of 1727 near Boston, Massachusetts when Puritans were very prevalent and the ideas of Calvinism were contemplated by many. A main aspect of Calvinism Washington Irving disagrees with is called predestination. This belief is when one does not have control of their afterlife because it is already chosen by God. I ll be exploring Calvinist and Puritan beliefs along with the concept of the faustian deal to show why Irving had Tom Walker agree to such a lopsided pact with the devil. To further understand Tom Walker s personality and how it contradicted Calvinism, I will also be exploring what was the perception of death for Bostonian Puritans around 1727? Understanding the Puritan perception of death is central to understanding why Tom easily sold his soul to the devil. Through the encounter with the devil at the Native American stronghold, Tom s wife dying and the faustian deal, Washington Irving shows he is against the Calvinist belief of predestination brought to the Massachusetts Bay colonies. The nature of the Native American stronghold and remarks said here by the devil are interesting examples of how Washington Irving shows he is against the concept of predestination. Essay On Macromolecules Introduction The main objective of the laboratory experiment was to test for the presence of protein, starch, glycogen, and reducing sugars in 12 different samples using various assessments in order to ultimately identify the unknown sample #26 as one of the four macromolecule groups. Macromolecules consist of polymers formed by the linkage of small subunits called monomers (Alberts et al., 2014). The four major groups are carbohydrates, lipids, proteins, and nucleic acids (Alberts et al., 2014). The 12 samples that were tested on in this laboratory experiment included protein, beer, distilled water, honey, 0.3% glucose 1 phosphate, and 1% glucose, maltose, sucrose, lactose, glycogen, and starch solutions, as well as the unknown sample #26. In order to identify whether or not a macromolecule is present in a sample solution, each test has positive and negative controls. In this case, a positive control reveals that the specific macromolecule being tested for is present, whereas a negative control indicates that a reaction did not occur and the macromolecule being tested for is not present (Johnson Besselsen, 2002). Swimming is moving your body through a body of water, either a pool or ocean, using your arms and legs, while running is moving quickly on land with your feet. Swimming is not a natural act but a learned talent. According to Dr. Howard Wainer, a swimmer and statistician at the Educational Testing Service in Princeton, N.J., the human body was not meant to move quickly through water. Most people believe that its harder to run than to swim but the fact is that it s harder to swim. In swimming water acts as the resistance while in running, air is the resistance. Bees provide us with fruits, berries, nuts, vegetables, coffee, and so much more. This is why the depletion of the bee population beginning in 2006 was, and as it continues, so concerning. The term Colony Collapse Disorder refers to a phenomenon in which worker bees vanish from the hive, leaving the queen and larvae unattended, and thus the bee colony ceases to function and collapses. This is happening throughout the United States at an alarming rate, and while one distinct cause for CCD has yet to be found, scientists have narrowed it down to a few possible reasons. Honeybees are social insects that live in eusocial communities in which the bees partake in complex activities and live in well organized groups. There are three types of bees that exist within the hive: the queen, the drone, and the worker. Each colony has one queen bee, whose primary function is reproduction. A part on the side, with one little curl on my forehead. It looked just like her. Well, almost just like (Morrison 123). Pauline recognizes herself in the glamorous women onscreen. Mulvey discusses this type of recognition in her article. She refers to it as a type of mirror stage when the viewer s curiosity and the wish to look intermingle with a fascination with likeness and recognition (Mulvey 17). She goes on to explain how this type of recognition then leads to misrecognition. Pauline experiences such misrecognition. She learns that she can never be like the beautiful women in the movies. While watching the show, her tooth falls out. She then realizes, There I was five months pregnant, trying to look like Jean Harlow, and a front tooth gone. Everything went then. Look like I just didn t care no more after that (Morrison 123). The tooth falling out reminds Pauline of her ugliness and helps her to understand her mistake in identifying with Jean Harlow. She understands she will never be beautiful or glamorous, which are the traits the movies have taught her to value. Because of her film education, Pauline learns to hate herself. The movies reinforce her inferior social status. She now believes in her ugliness and the ugliness of her family. She sees nothing to contradict the statement; saw, in fact, support for it leaning at them from every billboard, every movie, every glance (Morrison 39). Film instructs Pauline of her proper place ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Film Differences And Cultural Differences Some people delude themselves that having freedom means to disregard the human rights of other people. Everyone has the rights to express one s idea, belief, and thoughts, but there is an invisible limit to the expressions. When the expressions hurt other people emotionally or physically, one needs to recognize that the action has to be fixed. This process usually happens as people grow up learning how to socially behave in the communities. However, the human rights of some people are still being violated in the public. One of the biggest stages of it is in the mainstream media including the Hollywood. Hollywood is one of the most impactful media sources that produces global film works. People live together and no one can live on their own in this society, and for this reason, everyone should know that individuals have the responsibility of keeping the rights of others. With heavier respect to be in such positions, Hollywood writers and directors have a social responsibility to avoid stereotyping ethnic characters for three reasons: to respect the individual cultural differences, due to the large impact of the media, and for the opportunity to obtain further creativity. At first, Hollywood writers and directors should have a social responsibility to avoid ethnic characters to respect the individual cultural differences simply as a human being. People fight for the rights of genders, races, and positions still to this day, but they do not recognize that certain groups of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These effects which would have unprecedented effect on the development on European nations into modern nations. However, the immediate impact of the policies and treaties created by the Big Four (Great Britain, Italy, France and The United States) would leave devastating irreversible consequences on the Great War s losers. The most important treaty that the allies would make would be The Treaty of Versailles, signed on June 28th, 1919. This treaty would have the most destructive consequences on Germany, whom would become bitter, nationalistic, and isolated from its effects. As Holborn puts it, the treaty did not solve the problem of reparations, which was not settled for years to come in a fashion that would have stabilized the social and economic conditions of Europe. The struggle about the economic settlement of World War I kept alive and magnified the national hostilities which the political provinces of the peace produced. 1 The Treaty of Versailles would require Germany to surrender vast amounts of territory in Europe and oversea, diminish its military might significantly, impose insurmountable financial and economic demands, as well as making her accept the War Guilt Clause; this in turn would make the Germans feel a national humiliation and cause tremendous resent, this in turn would lead to the rise of authoritarianism, expansionism and the public demand for redemption. ... Learning an instrument takes quite a lot of interest in music, as well as many hours of practice to perfect it. Learning an instrument was always the goal in mind. I started trying to play the guitar and that did not work out for me because i could not keep interested, I tried piano which kept me sitting down with minimal movement for long periods of time, and finally i tried drumming which gave me what i wasn t getting out of the other instruments. INJUNCTIONS In the first place, that the members are entitled to hold a registered company to its registered objects has been recognized long since. Hence whenever an ultra vires act has been or is about to be undertaken, any member of the company can get an injunction to restrain it from proceeding with it. In this case the House of Lords observed that the doctrine of ultra vires, as it was explained in the Ashbury s case, should be maintained. But it ought to be reasonably and not unreasonably understood and applied and that whatever may fairly be regarded as incidental to the objects authorized ought not to be held ultra vires, unless it is expressly prohibited. Accordingly in London County Council V Attorney General , the council having statutory power to work tramways was restrained from running omnibus in connection with tramways. Our nation is equipped with new tools to monitor the terrorists movements, freeze their finances, and break up their plots.
