Nursing As A Career Essay
There are many external factors that have influenced my choice in the career I wish to go into,
these are the area of nursing so adult or children, my qualification are they the best I can get and
what else can I do but also the university I wish to go to, the money side so do I have the money to
do the course do I have to get a loan or can I get a bursary and also my family as their opinion
matters and do I wish to be close to them. This will discuss why I have picked nursing as a career
and what I think is right for me.
Firstly, the type of career I have always wanted was to be able to help and care for others in a
busy environment, where something is always happening. I felt adult nursing was best as I
could work in hospitals and nursing homes, schools and colleges, HM Forces, and the prison
services (national careers service, 2012). I have also wanted to work within the army and I
would like to become medic within the T.A as it is very hands on. I mainly would like to work in
the aeroplanes that go to front line to bring the injured back to safety and get them back to full
health. I have also considered working in rehabilitation in Headley court, to help servicemen and
women get back to their unit as quickly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When doing my BTEC I had to save up for tuition fees: ВЈ1100 (Carshalton College, 2015) which I
worked hard to save so I could pay it in full, as I did not want to get a loan at such an early stage
specially as I wish to go university. For university I have calculated bursary and looked into the
different loans I may able to receive, so I am able to pay all my bills, get to and from placements
and to afford the equipment I may need, I worked it all out on the Student Bursary Calculator
(NHS business services authority, 2012) it is not 100% accurate but it is a way of planning out

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Globalization
Introduction
Globalisation is a new trend in the development of the world economy. This means the world
economy is being integrated, like the economic policies and systems in various countries are
gradually becoming the same. With the development of the globalisation that brings many changes
in the world economy, also changed our lifestyle. Meanwhile, the globalisation has also brought the
weaknesses and benefit according to the globalisation debate. Due to the wide range of issues
covered by globalization related issues, this article will discuss the shifts of the globalisation,
weaknesses and benefits of the globalisation.
The shifts in the world economy due to globalisation
The economic condition between first world and third world has been changed
A process whereby national borders cease to be an obstacle to the movements of products and

Narrative Writing Assignments Of Pretentious Middle School...
Hyperextended crabs. Pinwheel of death. Broken winged pterodactyl. Such terminology seems
befitting of comparisons found in the interpretive writing assignments of pretentious middle school
students in an introductory art class. At the very least, they certainly do not invoke the feelings
associated with rational conceptions of what they describe in reality: districts across ordinary towns
in the United States. More sensibly, one could delegate responsibility for these frighteningly
amorphous and visually unappealing figures to the contrived workings of legislatures, yet a certain
degree of accountability ought to be attributed to the currently flawed legal precedent for handling
the intricacies of one of America s most virulent issues. Furthermore, the issue runs much deeper
than the superficial concerns from, they are physically discernable warning signs of a startling
trend that regrettably stifles political discourse and obscures the legitimate appeals of constituents:
the prevalence of district gerrymandering.
Every decade, as per the Supreme Court s ruling in Reynolds v. Sims, U.S. Congressional districts
reevaluate the status quo situation of political district in regards to population, and redraw their
individual localities accordingly. In its intended form, this process bolsters the election process
through taking into consideration different migratory patterns that would perhaps misrepresent the
geographical reality, ensuring that one man s vote in a congressional

Stereotypes About Gender Differences
I ve never been one to believe that the entirety of one s personality relies solely on certain traits or
associations. However, stereotypes exist for a reason. While generalisations are often destructive,
they must be rooted in some sort of truth. After all, a particular observation must have been made
many times for most sweeping statements to become embedded in one s thought processes.
Stereotypesregarding genderfollow this pattern as well. Men and women differ in not only their
inclinations, but even tend to pursue different aspirations. They also tend to communicate in
different manners, often using different approaches to support others and solve problems. And, of
course, the most blaring differences are those in the ways that men and

Sixth Mass Extinction
The sixth mass extinction is the only one caused by another species. There are 200+ species a day
dying off. Human s waste of trash and littering is destroying ecosystems all over the globe. The
sixth mass extinction is creeping up on humanity, and we can prevent it but we are turning a blind
eye to this catastrophe.
The sixth mass extinction is was caused by humans in various ways such as poaching. Poaching is
huge in Europe and Africa, they hunt for tigers, then they use various parts of the tiger for many
things such as old western medicine, food, and there pelts are very rare on the market thus making
the skins expensive (Stopping Poaching). Rhinos are another one that s close to becoming extinct
because of poaching, they kill Rhinos because of there horns, the horns are a symbol of wealth

We have been at war with each other since the beginning because we can t learn that everyone is
the same and not different. If we learned from the beginning that everyone was created equal then
we wouldn t have half the problems we would have. There has been a few cultures out there that
cared about the earth, like the indians, they only killed and took what they needed, until the
british came over and slaughtered the Indians and turned them against each other, for petty land,

Professional Military Medical Development
Professional military medical development is neither the outcome of a series of courses nor the
product of a sequence of military assignments. It is a continual process of self assessment and
development of common goals to achieve progressive outcomes. Reflecting on my experiences, I
recall many influential instances in my medical career. In some cases, I did not realize the impact
on my development as a leader until months, or even years later.
I have had the opportunity in the military to develop a diverse range of career skills and work
experience. Upon entering the military, I knew I had one goal, and that was to help Soldiers,
Sailors, Marines, and Airmen. After graduation from residency in 2010, I had many incredible

Keeping The Psycholinguistic And Sociolinguistic...
Keeping the psycholinguistic and sociolinguistic characteristics in mind for my future classroom
as well as some classrooms I have been in working with and observing students. This paper will
talk about the best way I feel is to reach the linguistic needs of my students.
There were about twenty five ELL students in my classroom this past semester, however, I only
worked with six. All the ELL students in my class were Spanish speakers as their first language.
Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense
of my six students I will be keeping them in mind as I write this paper. There were five boys and
one girls. I addressed their language learning needs in a few ways. I typically worked with my
student during their English time during the day to help the develop their English. One way I
addressed the needs of my students by making flash cards for the vocabulary words that I would
be teaching my students each week. I also adjusted my speech when talking to the students for
when the students were not understanding me, using simpler words. Also at times when my
students were not understanding English, or felt like they were not able to write in English I let
them speak in Spanish between each other to help clarify what was happening and I would let the
students write in Spanish, then tell me what they were saying in English. All lesson I did with

Summary Of Hypocrite Of Women By Denise Levertov
Hypocrite of Women, by Denise Levertov seems to contain a deep message within its playful
wording. The basic meaning that I was able to pull from within this was that as women we are
hypocrites, because we will shun others within society for what we consider to be inappropriate
behavior, or below the standards of society, however when it comes down to our own personal
faults within our characters, we tend to overlook them or ignore them. This is a fascinating
poem because I feel like it does reflect how society was as well as is today. In The Ache of
Marriage, I was able to discern that Denise Levertov s goal was to explore the pain of an
unwanted marriage. The pain that she reflects within her writing seems to be of both an emotional
and a physical basis. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She seems to be saying that without the pain and the tribulations, a marriage wouldn t be worth
as much. It s almost like she says that the sacrifices are what makes the marriage worth it. The
pain of this marriage results in the ultimate achievement of the objective of marriage. The poem
states that all the aches and pains of marriage are worth going through because the love of
another is epic. I found that the two of these poems together were a fascinating combination,
because one speaks of the hypocrisy of not doing anything about the flaws in a person s own
characteristics, and the other seems to say to live with the pain that you have to live with the
faults; through doing so one will find bliss; it is worth the sacrifice. I like the fact that they seem
to contradict one another because as people in general we tend to contradict ourselves. As a
reader I was able to connect to both of these particular poems by Denise Levertov, because I was
able to see how in my own life where I might have judged another for some preconceived idea that
society laid before me, yet not think twice about what I

The Bosla Familia Program is a policy that tries to eliminate child labor through poverty
elevation by giving families with a certain low per capita income transfers as long as their children
between the ages 6 to 17 years old are enrolled in school (Pais et al., 2013, p. 664). Pais (2013)
conducted research on the program and found that it raised schoolattendance, but it did not stop
children from being involved in work activities (p. 666). Even though Pais did not find successful
results the United States Department of Labor praises the Bosla Familia program and that it has
made notable efforts (para. 2). This praise from the United States Department of Labor has created
an inconsistency between which policies are effective and which policies

The Cuban Revolutionary Movement Of Cuba
The Cuban revolutionary movement is still remembered today as a significant cause of what has
come of Cuba today but more importantly by the people who were involved. One who played a
significant role for his effort to overthrow the Cuban and Bolivian government was Che Guevara.
Che Guevara became involved in political change when he was on a trip in Cubawhere he met Fidel
Castro. At the time, Fidel Castro wanted to overthrow the government which was under control of
Fulgencio Batista. Guevara s admiration to Castro and commitment made him his second in
command. Batista fled and Fidel Castro took over, while Che Guevaraworked on sparking other
revolutions throughout Latin America, one in specific which would be his last, was in Bolivia.
Throughout Latin America, several women were also getting involved in social movements,
however, one in particular sought to make a change in Cuba and set foot into Che Guevara s
revolution movement. Haydee Tamara Bunke Bider also known as Tania worked close with Che
Guevara during the revolutionary war in Cuba. Tania was an agent for the East German Ministry of
State Security. Worked as a translator in the Cuban delegation, then after joined the militia. Che
Guevara hired Tania to work with him on an undercover mission. She received special training to
participate in the guerilla movement. While on her mission in Bolivia she took on another name
hiding her identity, she was known as Laura Gutierrez Baur. Che Guevara wrote in his

Life Way Research
LifeWay Research conducted a survey to find out how often unchurched Americans think about
faith, the meaning of life, and what are their general attitudes concerning religion.
The study was carried out on 2,000 unchurched Americans, and was sponsored by Billy Graham
Center for Evangelism at Wheaton College. Those people were considered unchurched who had
not attended any religious service in the last six months except weddings or funerals, and holidays.
Of those interviewed, many said that they would listen when their friend talked about religion and
often think about the meaning of life, but do not care much regarding what happens after death.
As many as 79 percent said that they would not mind listening to a friend who values their faith to

About 57 percent said it was crucial for them to know their deeper purpose of life, and 31 percent
said it was not important to them, and 12 percent said they were not sure.
As many as 43 percent of the Americans never think about the question If I were to die today, do I
know for sure that I would go to heaven? Some 20 percent said they were not sure the last time they
thought about this, and about 29 percent said that they think about this question at least once in a
month.
Scott McConnell, executive director of LifeWay Research said that asking these kind of questions
for evangelism, such as If you died tonight, would you go to heaven might not be an effective tool
to make people introspect, because this is not what they usually ponder about.
If the only benefit of being a Christian is that you get to go to heaven, most unchurched people don
t care, McConnell said. It can t be the only way of talking about faith.
He instead suggested Christians to talk about their relationship with Jesus and how it truly molds
their day to day

Hate Crimes Against African Americans
Hate crimes have affected African Americans in more ways than just violence; therefore, our
government needs to approach hate crimes differently. Aside of the fact that the United States has
elected the first African Americanpresident, hate crimes has still occurred before and during his
presidency. Of the 7,624 hate crimes committed in 2007 alone, 2,659 of those hate crimes were
done on African Americans ( Hate Crimes Against African Americans , 2012). From the history of

Stereotyping is a worldwide illness that has placed judgment on black men and women to the point
that they are limited to opportunity and advancement in the working world and the political

Although we are no longer in the 19th century, hate crimes are still much alive in the 21st century.
In late August, early September 2006, an African American student of Jena High School located in
Jena, Louisiana asked if he could sit under a tree on campus that was commonly known for only
white students to sit under (Christie, 2008). The very next day after the African American student
sat under that specific tree, three nooses were hanging from the tree. The school principal of Jena
High School found out that three white students were responsible for this incident. Even though
expulsion was recommended for the three white students, the superintendent of the school only
suspended them for three days.
Because of the ongoing racial tension, in December 2006, a fight broke from a White student
taunting some Black students supporting the incident of the nooses being hung from the tree in the
school courtyard (Christie, 2008). The White student was badly beaten and had to be hospitalized.
The African American students were later charged with attempted murder and conspiracy. The
African American students were between the ages of 15 and 17, facing up to 100 years in prison
without parole. African American residents of Jena, Louisiana stated

Similarities Between Sumerian And Mesopotamia
The ancient civilizations of Sumer and Egypt were each shaped by their environments. In the
Sumer civilization they lived on a flat plain with few mountains to buffer them from invasion and
relied on an unpredictable twin river system. Sumer lacked vital natural resources such as wood and
precious metals. In Egyptthey had the advantage of a consistent flooding season as well as
protection of natural barriers surrounding them. These natural boundaries included desert,
mountain, as well as water. Where Sumerlacked natural resources, Egypt was blessed with a
plentiful supply of them. From the river flooding of their plains to the natural barriers or lack
thereof surrounding their area helped influence how these civilizations handled their government,
writing, and agriculture. The nature of their life giving rivers affected both Sumer and Egypt.
Whether it was the consistent flooding of the Nile or the erratic nature of the Tigris Euphrates
delta each river had an impact on the way of life in these civilizations. Sumer blossomed in the
Tigers Euphrates valley in an area referred to as Mesopotamiawhich The Earth and its Peoples
defines as land between rivers For the Sumerians the Tigris and Euphrates flooding was
unpredictable and would destroy farms and crops. The flooding in Mesopotamia would occur in the
summer from the melting snow in the mountains, too late for the ideal planting season. However,
the twin rivers provided vital trade routes as well as rich silt that

form her into the person that she was when the doctors found her. Also, in this film I believe that

goal to demonstrate abilities to others. ( Mastery vs. Performance Goals ) Whereas mastery goals

How Did Winslow Homer Influence Art
One of the most highly regarded painters of the nineteenth century is Winslow Homer. From his
birth in Boston, Massachusetts, he began learning about art. Homer s mother was a water color
artist and taught him a lot of the techniques he used in his works. The Snap the Whip painting is
probably Homer s most famous paintingand exemplifies the ideals he tried to get across. All in all,
Homer was one of the most influential painters in American history. Winslow Homer was born in
Boston, Massachusetts on February 24, 1836. From an early age Homer showed interest in art.
His mother was a watercolor painter and taught him many of her techniques. Growing up in
Cambridge, Massachusetts Homer learned the aspects of being a printmaker. After living in New

A common theme for Homer was to make paintings that were reminiscent of the simpler times
before the Civil War and industrialization period. This is evident in one of Homer s most famous
paintings, Snap the Whip . This painting shows schoolboys, just released from the small local
schoolhouse, enjoying nature and playing outside. His paintings also had a common theme of
representing how the nation had become unified once again with the conclusion of the Civil
War. In his painting Snap the Whip , you can clearly tell this from the locking of arms between
boys representing teamwork. Oceans and bodies of water were also a common theme in his art
works. You can see this quite clearly in his 1876 painting Breezing Up . Homer s most common
art media was Oil Paint. Almost every single one of Homer s famous paintings is painted in oil
paint. Overall, Homer had many influences in his work, but the importance he placed on
simplicity before the complex post Civil War industrial period is ever present in all of his works.

Alexander The Great And Its Influence On The...
Alexander the Great is one of history s most revered figures. Not only because at such a young
age he conquered the known world, but he also exhibited a dynamite personality that rose him up
the legendary status he has today. One major mystery still remains to this day about Alexander and
this is in regard to how he exactly died. Today historian s using sources from Alexander s time
have come up with three ways Alexander may have died. The causes are: a myriad of diseases
(pneumonia, leukemia, pleurisy, etc.), a poisoning, or perhaps the long term effects of the
consumption of alcohol. The consumption of alcohol is the most intriguing factor as it would paint
Alexander the Great in a much darker picture. Fortunately for his posthumous self... Show more

About three to four times a month people would take place in a symposium which mainly
consisted of getting drunk and talking about the happenings of society. Greeks made sure to use
diluted wine during their symposia, but the Macedonian s would make sure to use proper
undiluted wine. One reason being the overall better wine that Macedonia had compared to the
Greeks down south. Alexander would employ the use of symposia according to the researchers
among others, a political purpose the image of a new sovereign as heir to the behavior of that of
the previous ruler . From this it is clear that wine was hugely vital to the Hellenic culture which
allowed anyone to drink consume it. Mostly all citizens would take part in these symposia so it
s clear that what Alexander did was very normal. Heck it was an insult if one did not drink at all
in these gatherings so it would make no sense for Alexander to keep sober during these times.
Obviously having stronger Macedonian wine did make it so soldiers and citizens would just fall
asleep faster. It also would make Alexander get drunk faster, but never to the point of an obsession

The Dangers Of Social Pressure
The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure
From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes
everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts
decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the
work force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In
Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the
two psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure
leads to conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects
of social pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to
authority results in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure
is a force that can cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience.
In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a
psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take
for a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). The group is told match the length of a line in
comparison to three other lines of differing lengths. Unbeknownst to the subject, the other members
of the group were instructed by the experimenter to beforehand

Christian Meditation On God And Spending Time Essay
Every now I then I receive a letter from a subscriber on the best way to incorporate Christian
meditation into their daily devotion time with God. Including Christian meditation, into your daily
schedule can make your life so much more rewarding and fulfilling. There are numerous benefits to
meditating on Godand spending time in His presence. These include developing a more intimate
relationship with Christ, eliminating worry and stress, creating a space for God to speak to our
hearts, and becoming more sensitive to the Holy Spiritto name a few.
I have tried many, many different schedules for my Morning Devotion over the years, but the
one I am about to share with you has been the best one for me. By Morning Devotion I mean the
time I take each morning before I leave for the job or work on my business. The days that I skip
these activities are usually marked with anxiety and frustration. I have reasoned that if I m too busy
for God and myself, then I m just too busy and that busyness and chaos usually ends up being a
theme throughout my entire day.
God created us spirit, soul, and body and He doesn t want us to neglect any of these areas. We
neglect our bodies when we eat poorly and don t exercise. We neglect our mind or soul when we
feed it with mental junk food instead of uplifting literature or spiritual delights, and we neglect our
spirit when we don t spend time with God being restored, renewed, and renovated. So instead of
thinking just, Christian

In today s society social media has become an essential part of our lives. We check our accounts

social media into the giant it is today are viral videos. New viral videos often come up on a daily

In today s society this media becomes viral at its full effect on social media platforms, most
specifically twitter and facebook as with one post or retweet can cause a chain reaction to even
further distribute the content to expand the audience. Virality is often achieved due to its power
to evoke emotions in a visceral way as well as tell us whole stories in a fraction of the time
reading text would take. ( The Social Media Wildfire. ) The concept of viral media is not
subjected to only a certain group of people but is rather extended to others even if they are not
on social media as in many cases videos that have made it onto international news channels.
What makes viral videos viral does not exclude anyone but is rather meant for a large audience
due to it being known for breaking down cultural barriers by allowing people all over the world
to witness significant or interesting events for themselves. ( The Social Media Wildfire,. 2015)
With this viral media revolution, many people see it as a chance to change their lives, socially,
but viral fame is most notably connected to a new financials status as well. By seeing other
people go viral it would start this belief that by going viral, you have made it, which creates this
sense of achievement in regards to their social life. There have been plenty of good and bad
examples of this but one that stands

Swot Analysis Of Cadbury

however wouldn t be possible without the company being highly visible in the mass media channels

Cadbury has unfortunately seen lack of penetration in the rural market where people tend to
dismiss it as a high end product, as the prices do range between standard and premium, never any
less. The reason for high prices is due some of the cocoa, a major ingredient, having to be imported,
resulting in several charges and a higher inventory. The company must also find solutions to natural
conditions, for example, heat. The majority of the markets in India are not air conditioned, hence
cannot store chocolates, at least during hot summers, which limits market access.
Industrial Production
Cadbury, beside many other companies, supply the local market through its local production units.
Cadbury India manages to practice this through five factories, located in Thane, Pune, Induri and
Malanpur in West India, and Baddi in North India. Cocoa, being a major raw material as discussed,
is not only imported but also procured mainly from local plantations in South India, in the states of
Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh. The company, after manufacturing many of its
mouthwatering products exports them in bulk to Sri Lanka, Dubai, the US and the Maldives. The
positive outcome of this is that Cadbury India does not have to be involved in third party
manufacturing.

in the world. Due to its large size, China borders thirteen other countries including North Korea,
Russia, Vietnam, and India; and since the country is so large there are diverse climates depending

endangered animals like the red crowned crane, giant panda, golden monkey, and the Yangtze

Since China is the third largest nation in the world, the country has a huge population. China is

Humankind in The Three Forster Short Stories Essay
Humankind in The Three Forster Short Stories
Forster is writing in a time when society was changing dramatically. When rural life in the
countryside was leaving while urban life was starting. While this is happening mechanically it
was also happening in a mental aspect and the way people live and look at life is changing.
What Forster sees is dangerous results. He was probably writing in a time like the Industrial
revolution when a lot of lives were taken for the good of experimentation and knowledge. There
was also a view of slave trade and sweatshops for cheap labour as well as hiring children to risk
their lives and go inside the machines to fix them because only they could fit. Not to mention ...

Not only that in each of the stories humans don t even get close to nature so In The Story of
Panic( Past) The woods are empty. In The Curates friend (Present) The countryside is empty and
everyone is living in the cities and lastly in The Machine Stops( Future) The surface of The earth is
empty and the population are living underground relying on a machine which I will speak more
about later.
Evaluating this we can see how our connection with nature is leaving slowly from the past to The
future, from the woods to the Surface of the earth.
As we know from the three short stories E. M. Forster is particularly keen on Greece and Italy.
This a major effect on Forsters view. He thinks of them as the creators of nature and the Gods.
And as the Gods created humans we can see where that leads. Researching Forster s life I found
that that during his life he had the freedom to travel a lot. He liked to travel to Greece and Italy
in particular and this is probably how he got his knowledge and passion for the two countries. As
well as Italy and Greece he travelled and lived in India for a little while. We can see how this
reflects on Nature. As we know India is a relatively poor country and they would not have the same
urban life as England as well as the technology, which England had.

Johann left the Josef s group in 1825. Josef Lanner quickly became highly regarded and very
popular for his waltzes. He began giving concerts in the Vienna Volsgarten in 1831 and he
conducted the chamber ball in the Hofburg beginning in the year 1840. His music spread all over
Europe and even to the USA where it was very popular. His popularity eventually waned in the
shadow of Johann Strauss. Lanner composed the piece Die Mozartisten for the 15th anniversary
of Mozart s death as a tribute. The second piece I listened to was the Concierto Madrigal by
Joaquin Rodrigo. The piece was very, very long. As a listener, it was easy to tell there were
many separate works or sections within this piece. The overall feel was a Spanish theme with a
lot of great guitar playing. As expressed by Oxford Music Online, Joaquin Rodrigo became blind
at the age of three and remained so until his death. He lived almost exactly a century later than
Josef Lanner. Joaquin was born in Sagunto on the 22nd of November in the year 1901. He
studied music in France and married a Turkish pianist. Soon after his first composition entitled
the Concierto de Aranjuez, he became widely recognized as a leading composer in Spain. He is
accredited with an estimated 170 compositions, 11 of which are concertos. Towards the end of the

The Rime Of The Ancyent Marinere Analysis
In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere, the Marinere attains a change of mindset in
regards to the sea snakes he encounters. This moment in the poem is larger than just the liking or
disliking of an animal; it shows a larger change within the Marinere. Through exploring the concept
of seeing in Carlos Castanedas novel A Separate Reality, and applying it to the beloved Marinere,
it is discovered that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Being able to see allows the
Marinere this shift in perspective and the gain of respect his has for all beings by the end of the
piece.
The Marinere s negative view of the sea snakes are an extension of his perception in regards to
his unfavorable situation. The Mariner s first view of the sea snakes is one filled with contempt,
which is carried by his overall feelings of despair and separation. The beginning of section four
of The Rime of The Ancyent Marinere proceeds the death of the crew. The Mariner relates how
he is alone and his soul is in agony (IV, 224 227). He furthers his separation from the beings
around describing the dead men that lay on the deck as beautiful (IV, 228 229). The living sea
snakes as a million million slimy things, and then himself as simply living with them without a
secondary descriptor (IV, 229 231). His lack of description for himself is another separation
between the Marinere and his surrounds; the cause of his worsening outlook and perception of his
situation.
The Marinere s situation is not changed, however his perception changes and because of a new
and brighter outlook he gains in cognizance with the sea snakes. The Marinere s change in
perception begins when moonlight bathes the ocean and in return everything encaptured in it.
Again the Mariner takes a special interest in the sea snakes for they live on as he does (IV, 230
231). At this point in the poem the sea snakes are now happy living things (IV, 274). The
Marinere feels a sense of love towards them and blesses them without his conscious awareness (IV,
276 277). The Marinere simultaneously releases the guilt of the albatross that has been hung
around his neck, to quote: The self same moment I could pray/ And from my neck so free/ The
Albatross fell off, and

Tourette s syndrome is a disorder that makes its host produce unwanted movement and/or sound.
The condition may contain one or both symptoms. Tourette s disorder is an issue with the
sensory system that causes individuals to make sudden developments or sounds, called tics, that
is beyond the hosts control. The disorder is named for the pioneer in French neurosurgery, Dr.
Georges Gilles de la Tourette, when he discovered it in a French citizen in 1885. The symptoms
for Tourette s syndrome are first seen in early childhood between the ages of 3 and 9 years of age.

follows: MOTOR TICS Simple; Blinking of eyes, jerking of heard, shrugging of shoulders, darting
of eyes, flexing of fingers, protruding of tongue. Complex; Touching of nose, touching of others,

In the first Presidential debate of 2016, the issue of cybersecurity was a pressing topic. While both

development is that cybersecurity is now a forefront issue in our nation, and a whole host of
research and new projects are emerging in the field. Unfortunately, this great interest in
cybersecurity has not done much to help the standard computer user, who must deal with
notoriously poor protection systems called antiviruses. With the new interest in cyber security, it is

It is very easy to take the visualization of information too far however. For example, modern
dashboard designed programs and applications which present information in a variety of ways
appears very gimmicky, and according to Stephen Few, they can actually limit the amount of
information presented to the user that pertains to a problem they are trying to get information on
(12). Therefore there exist an important balance in the presentation of information in design. It
should allow the user capture important information from the product, but the way the
information is visualized should not be so flashy or over saturated to where it stuns the user and
inhibits their comprehension of the data presented. Some of the more subtle forms of
visualization that need consideration, according to William Lidwell, et al, is how colors and
angles can affect the pleasure of viewing a design through innate associations people have with
them, such as red signaling danger. (61 63) Secondly, the usability of a design needs careful
consideration. After all, if the user cannot actually get any information out of the design, it will be
of no use. This is why

The Arctic Of The Antarctic Circle
Any point north of the Arctic Circle or south of the Antarctic Circle will have one period in the
summer when the sun does not set, and one period in the winter when the sun does not rise. At
progressively higher latitudes, the maximum periods of midnight sun and polar night are
progressively longer. For example, at the military and weather station Alert located at
82°30′05″N and 62°20′20″W, on the northern tip of Ellesmere Island, Canada (about
450 nautical miles or 830 km from the North Pole), the sun begins to peek above the horizon for
minutes per day at the end of February and each day it climbs higher and stays up longer; by 21
March, the sun is up for over 12 hours. On 6 April the sun rises at 0522 UTC and remains above
the horizon until it sets below the horizon again on 6 September at 0335 UTC. By October 13
the sun is above the horizon for only 1 hour 30 minutes and on October 14 it does not rise above
the horizon at all and remains below the horizon until it rises again on 27 February.[17] First light
comes in late January because the sky has twilight, being a glow on the horizon, for increasing
hours each day, for more than a month before the sun first appears with its disc above the horizon.
From mid November to mid January, there is no twilight. In the weeks surrounding 21 June, in the

to throw them. Yet there was a space round Henry, perhaps six yards in diameter, into which he
dare not throw ... Roger s arm was conditioned by civilization that knew nothing of him and was
in ruins. (Golding 62). Even if Roger is already mean and annoying, he still at this point in the
story can not throw rocks to hurt someone because he is still civilized. Roger starts to turn into
savagery fast. At this point in the story all of the older boys except Piggy and Ralph are at the top
of Castle Rock. They took Piggy s glasses to start a fire, so Piggy goes up to Castle Rock to ask for
them back: High overhead, Roger, with a sense of delirious abandonment, leaned all of his
weight on the lever ... The rock struck Piggy a glancing blow from chin to knee (Golding 180 181).
Roger has lost all of civilized that he killed someone. Therefore Roger could not throw a rock to
hurt someone when all civilization was lost he could puck a boulder off to kill

Why Veterinary Medicine Is A Doctor But For Animals
Research: Notes/Citations
Research Question: What is Vet Medicine and how does it relate to my career goals?
Topic #1: What is veterinary medicine?
Question 1: What type of classes should I take in high school? o Notes/Citation Veterinary
Medicine is a doctor but for animals. Veterinary medicineinvolves medical, diagnostic, surgical,
dental, and therapeutic principles to all types of animals. If a client got bit by an infected animal, a
human doctor might just send them to the vet for a better understanding and this might just be
another way veterinarians help humans as well. Most people who go into this field starts learning
about what type of animals they want to handle by learning all about them in high school... even if
the person might already know it is still a requirement to do so. Take me, for instance, I want to
take care of companion animals (which are dogs, cats, and etc.) when I start my career, but I still
have to learn about other animals because of the four years program of study that they have at my

Similarities Between The Chronicles Of Narnia
In the film , The Chronicles of Narnia, depicts a parallel story of Christ s crucifixion and
resurrection. The film displays characters who portrays similar characteristics of those in the
Bible. For instance , The Witch has an analogous distinction to herself that corresponds to the
Devil. The Lion who is forgiving and sacrifices his life to save Edmund represents a similar
characteristic to Jesus dying for our sins. Aslan, the lion, act similar to Christ which distinguishes
him as a Christ like figure. On the other hand, The Wardrobe portrays a sacredness underworld that
is similar to the sacred reality interpreted from the Bible. The Chronicle of Narnia illustrates the

As Aslan is risen from the dead it shows that if you have not committed any wrongs , you will be
saved , while the ones who have committed wrongs ( like the White Witch) will torture in their
sufferings. The Chronicle of Narnia also portrays sociological ideology. Like we explored in class,
sociological is the means to which we are given social values from a given group/person, that
influences how we view the world.
Lucy first introduced by Mr.Tumnus is influenced by his perception on Narnia and the evil White
Witch. Edmund, however, is encountered by the White Witch who deceives him to believe she is
the good one. The Witch lures him into her powers as she exploits his weakness. Furthermore, the
film presents the life stages in which Peter becomes the Knight of Narnia and Edmund s rite of
passage after committing evil acts with the White Witch. Therefore, both of their encounters

Essay on Dell Analysis
Dell Analysis
In spite of Dell s Direct Model strategy, the company had lost any price advantage it had over its
competitors. Dell also had an issue with channel inventory availability driven by the fact that
their competitors were attempting to replicate their strategy. This was a large threat to the
organization because they so heavily relied on just in time delivery of parts. Dell s competitors
faced many challenges to the direct distribution method, however. According to Exhibit 8 in the
case ( Ratings of PC Vendors by Corporate Mangers with PC buying Responsibility ), channel based
support was rated the lowest on all scales, showing that this was Dell s riskiest area as well.

Also, Dell did not have a price advantage over competitors despite their lower costs due to the
Direct Model. Finally, the firm did not have a large share of the foreign market, which has the
highest growth potential.
Value Chain Dell was more capable of maintaining the Direct Model strategy than most, if not all, of
its competitors. The resources that supported this advantage were the close relationship Dell had
with its suppliers, a solid just in time inventory management system, and proximity of warehouses
and production facilities to assembly operations. In addition, Dell s computers developed a
reputation of reliability and the company excelled at customer service. While the Direct Model
seemed to challenge competitors, many other companies were able to imitate Dell s reliability
and customer service. Dell attempted a cost leadership strategy although it s PC s and laptops
were comparable in price to competitors. Gateway was the cost leader in the industry and once
trailed only Dell as the leader of direct sales of computers to customers. Dell does offer computers
that are customized to buyer specifications so their computers are more custom than competitors.
Very large customers who purchased over $1 million in PC s made up 70% of the firms revenues.
The firm would take a big revenue hit if it lost these customers.

year, but still it s very rare to obtain in the US. The Guinea Worm Disease is a parasitic infection
occurs and thrives off of dirty water. This disease has been terminated from most parts of the world
but the most cases occur in parts of Africa. The reason being, in Africa it is not easy to come

from tiny water fleas that carry the Guinea worm larvae. The larvae are eaten by the water fleas

good to dress the wound meaning, clean it with antibiotics and wrap it up with gauze or pre med

Immigration Issue Over Immigration Policy
Immigrants Rights
Immigration is a kind of movement of people into destination land, which can be traced back to a
million years ago. Also, the debate over whether immigrants should be given more rights has been
an intractable problem for a long period. According to statistics from Wikipedia, as for 2005, the
United Nations reported that there were nearly 191 million international immigrants worldwide,
about three percent of the world s population (Immigration). Although it does not seem to take up a
large proportion, actually the amount of the immigrant population is particularly huge. In this way,
policies on immigration are considered remarkably significant. Moreover, recently the attacks in
European countries have also poured fuel on the already heated debate over immigration policy. In
most cases, local citizens and governments do not welcome immigrants into their own country,
which is partly due to the discrimination. Obviously, it is unfair to them. Immigrants should be
treated equally and given more rights than the rights they possess now because they contribute to
boosting economy, creating a harmonious society and they are legal immigrants.
Many people assume that if immigrants are given more rights, there will be more immigrants into
the country, which will result in an economic burden to society. However, by focusing on the
negative effects they bring, people overlook the value and the social wealth created by immigrants.
Recently, researchers collected a large

Impact Of The Revolt Of 1857
Colonialism:
Sometimes most of the people think that colonialism and imperialism are same political cocepet.
But they were wrong as both Colonialism and Imperialism means political and economic
domination of the other yet the tow word have two different meaning. Colonialism is where one
nation assumes control over the other and Imperialism refers to political or economic control, either
formally or informally. In simple words, colonialism can be thought to be a practice and
imperialism as the idea driving the practice.
In full simple language we can describe, when a nation takes controls of other nation full power to
control the same nation that s mean colonialism. In the way ofcolonialism a nation goes totally in

Impact of the Revolt of 1857:
A major impact on our national movement occured after the Revolt of 1857.
Against the British rule all classes of people combined and brought together for the first time. The
revolt end to East India Company s rule, along with changes in the British policy towards Indian
States and it gave rise to nationalism. Indian people became more aware of their heroes, who
sacrificed their lives to save the country. So that others might live in free India in times to come.
The revolt scarred the relationship between Hindus and Muslims with the Divide and Rule Policy
which was adopted by the British. They thought if they wanted to continue their rule in India, it was
important to divide the Hindus and Muslims.
All can say that British give changes in every sector of India. The latest faster weapons of that
time were come in hand with the help of them. They also contribute a lot in combination,
education sector and also in many other ways. But they made all lives miserable. They give us all
those kinds of things just because they also use the Indian as a toy of own will. As they give more

Tamitha Boltz
Unit 6
Prison Inmates Should be Allowed to Take College Courses
Prison inmates should be allowed to take college courses because an education offers a positive
change for their release back into society. The education they receive will offer life skills and
provide them with positive reinforcement to change their lives for the better; while restructuring
the way some think and continue through life and society through making proper choices and
better role models.
While in prison, education would provide a crucial key for inmate rehabilitation. Part of that
rehabilitation can be in the form of education. Education in the prison system generally geared ...

Many of the petty crimes and minor violations are therefore, reduced because the need to commit
those crimes on a financial basis is no longer there if the inmate can find a job. If the prisoner has
also been educated, they will more than likely have a broader moral compass than if they were just
doing their time . Some inmates, upon their release, make similar mistakes and commit crimes;
with an educated prison populous, this potentially becomes eliminated for most inmates. With a
decrease in crimes, the prison population decreases, as does the cost to house them in prisons. The
increased revenue is then used in educating first time offenders, thus reducing the risk of them
becoming repeat offenders.
Creating positive influences on our prisoners can reap many more benefits than just educating and
releasing back into society. Just as we invest money to educate our children, we can reinvest
money to target populations that our prisoners come from to prevent crimes. When we teach them
new skills that can better their lives, they can then teach others by example. Once an inmate enters
back into society and gets a job in his or her field, stays away from crime, and makes better
choices, they can make a positive impact on their communities. Younger generations can see the
encouraging example set forth and know that they too can make wiser decisions and hope for the

Panama. It connects both the atlantic, and Pacific Oceans making transportation faster, so goods,
services, and people wouldn t have to go over North America, or under South America. The canal is
man made and was made by the United States. The canal was successfully built in 1914 by the
United States after 10 years of building it. However, the French tried to build it before the U.S.A.
It started in 1881 and ended in failure in 1894 because of the death of 22,000 workers because of
mosquitoes carrying illness, constant rain, and mud slopes. These things made the project bankrupt,
so they eventually sold it to the United States for 40... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is a very good source of jobs for people in Latin America. This boosts economic activity in the
area, making the area better. Since a lot of ships come in on a daily basis, money comes in fast.
Panama has also brought in countless numbers of tourist to come see the Canal, making the
economy grow and grow. Before the canal the boats would have to go under South America where
there were strong winds and cold waters, taking a long time. After the canal was built, it cut 8,000
miles from travel time to go around South America, and made the cost less for ships wanting to get
to the Pacific or Atlantic Ocean. Now, countries are able to trade with other countries far away
because of the canal. The overall importance of the Canal is very high. Without it, Panama
wouldn t have the booming city like it does today, would have a low amount of jobs, and other
countries wouldn t be able to trade easily by boat. The canal has made shipment of goods by boats
much easier, since they don t have to cut under South America. If it was never created, boat travel
would not be like it is today.

Speech On Perseverance
There I was, dead tired on the final play of my football game. As they snapped the ball from the
two yard line, they ran it to the left. Now, I could have let the situation take over and not make
my tired body make the tackle and let them score the winning touchdown, but instead I persevered
in the face of a tired and stiff body and made the game saving touchdown. If one always keeps on
keeping on, no matter the situation, is perseverance. A person needs to be motivated, have
optimism, and realizing and using the advantages of perseverance to one s advantage if they wantto
have grit and perseverance, which is to never quit even with difficulties.
To begin with, to have perseverance, one must always keep going forward, regardless of the
situation. There are many factors in keeping this grit, one of them being to always be motivated. A
quote that explains this is ... we conquer by continuing. (Smith 2017.) This quote helps prove the
idea of motivation by basically saying one cannot fail if they don t stop trying, which is
motivation. If one always keeps trying, they can never fail. More evidence to support this comes
from The Iceberg Illusion, where it says that you need failure, sacrifice, and disappointment in
order to reach the level of success they want. It takes much motivation to overcome failure,
sacrifice, and disappointment in one s life. This idea of motivation can be related back to me,
because I have needed to stay motivated to keep in shape the

The Interventions Of A Offender Manager s Risk By...
This essay will critically reflect on the interventions used in the community to manage offender s
risk by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of communication, between Offender Managers
and external agencies. An evaluation will be made of how Offender Managers are able to use
feedback from community interventions, to effectively manage an individuals riskthroughout
supervision sessions and explore different strategies used in order build a relationship and
manage compliance throughout an order. This essay will highlight diversity issues raised and
how future practice can be improved from reflecting on current work. I will be referring to two
case studies drawn from my own practice as a Probation Service Officer (PSO), Mr N and Mr C,
and demonstrate how theoretical literature and research has informed decision making in managing
risk and planned interventions.
An Offender Manager s (OM) role identified by Goldhill Skinner, 2013, is to build a rapport,
understand an offender s pathway to offending, undertake a risk assessment that addresses the risk
of reoffending, the risk of harm that they pose, and to devise a plan for supporting them out of
offending. In order to manage the risk in both cases, I have used the risk assessment tools
Offender Assessment System (OASys) and the Offender Group Reconviction Scale (OGRS) to
determine that both the offenders which I will be referring to pose a medium risk of reoffending.
OASys was introduced in the Probation Service in

Greek Mythology played a large role in Greek culture, religion and even everyday life. Greeks used
these myths to describe historical events and to explain features of the universe. Greek
mythology formed the staple of most Greek poetry and epic, and it also influenced philosophers
and historians to a marked degree ( Greek Mythology ). In early times and even today, Greek
mythology contains much of what ancient Greeks accepted about the world and early human life.
A small amount of Greeks did believe some parts of mythology were fantasy, but the majority
found the myths and legends true (Hansen). Pandora s Box introduces several Greek gods and
their impact, including Zeus, Athena, Aphrodite, and Hermes. The Greeks believed at the time in
Hellenism, a religion based off of the Greek gods, or the thirteen Olympians (Hansen). In the

Old man and the sea Essay
The epic journey of The Old Man and the Sea describes struggle, discipline and manhood. The
main characters relationships exemplify how faith and skill overcome man s adversity during life
on the sea. Santiago s growing relationship with the boy idealizes his statute as a father figure and
develops his integrity and values towards the boy. Hemmingway shows us how an old fisherman s
will to overcome the sea s obstacles proves his manhoodto himself and the young boy. His skills

He did not truly feel good because the pain from the cord across his back had almost passed pain
and into dullness that he mistrusted. (74) Once both the fish and Santiago had reached the
breaking point of conflict the story seemed to slow down in time to exemplify the adverse
conditions that both characters were suffering from. The old man proves himself worthy of
personal suffering with the cuts and scars on his hands and back along with all of the pulling and
slipping the cords had upon his fragile body. Hemmingway shows in a big way how an out of
proportioned conflict with an old fisherman and an 18 foot long marlin helps to magnify the
significance of Santiago searching for his rebirth to manhood. With constant abstraction describing
the fish and the sea in relation to brotherhood create interesting questions for Santiago to ponder.
His rationalization for his fishing is that he was born to do it. A man can be destroyed but not
defeated. (103) Hemmingway proves that this fish represents all of Santiago s built up tension to
total the size of a gigantic marlin that is perceived as devastating but not unconquerable. The old
man s hopes and aspirations can overcome the adversity of the marlin s size, along with the
conditions of the old, hungry, and exhausted fisherman. Through outright suffering Santiago
achieves a goal above his previous manhood by combating pain and

Essay On The US Constitution Afloat
The history of America has been the ballast for our future. We fought many battles to gain the
independence that we take for granted today. There have been countless great men who have built
the stern of this great nation. Some of those men were the founding fathers. The founding fathers
incorporated the Constitution so we would have a future of freedom and stability. When I was
little, my father, who was in the U.S. Navy, told me about the time he escorted the U.S.S.
Constitution, which was the first time the ship had sailed in 116 years. Afterwards, he proceeded to
tell me the history of the ship and what it meant for the founding of our nation. The ship was named

Afterwards, the American people joined as one to show their passion for their country by fighting
to keep the U.S.S. Constitution afloat. Therefore, the U.S.S. Constitution is a visual aid for the
written Constitution that has guided our nation over the years. The Constitution forged by our
founding fathers has a similarity to the U.S.S. Constitution with the purpose of leading and
protecting America and its future. When the Constitution was written, the purpose of the document
was to separate the powers of the government and grant citizens of the U.S. rights. The founding
fathers wanted to ensure there would be a preservation of rights such as the freedom of religion or
the right to bear arms. As previously stated in history by Thomas Jefferson: What country can
preserve its liberties if their rulers are not warned from time to time that their people preserve the
spirit of resistance. Let them take arms. The Constitution has been a rudder to keep the United States
freedom since 1787, and to continue that, Americans will need to follow the guidelines set forth by
the Constitution. Granting all this, there is corruption going on currently in the government,
especially within the NSA. In July of 2012,

  • 2. Nursing As A Career Essay There are many external factors that have influenced my choice in the career I wish to go into, these are the area of nursing so adult or children, my qualification are they the best I can get and what else can I do but also the university I wish to go to, the money side so do I have the money to do the course do I have to get a loan or can I get a bursary and also my family as their opinion matters and do I wish to be close to them. This will discuss why I have picked nursing as a career and what I think is right for me. Firstly, the type of career I have always wanted was to be able to help and care for others in a busy environment, where something is always happening. I felt adult nursing was best as I could work in hospitals and nursing homes, schools and colleges, HM Forces, and the prison services (national careers service, 2012). I have also wanted to work within the army and I would like to become medic within the T.A as it is very hands on. I mainly would like to work in the aeroplanes that go to front line to bring the injured back to safety and get them back to full health. For university I have calculated bursary and looked into the different loans I may able to receive, so I am able to pay all my bills, get to and from placements and to afford the equipment I may need, I worked it all out on the Student Bursary Calculator (NHS business services authority, 2012) it is not 100% accurate but it is a way of planning out ... This means the world economy is being integrated, like the economic policies and systems in various countries are gradually becoming the same. With the development of the globalisation that brings many changes in the world economy, also changed our lifestyle. • 4. Narrative Writing Assignments Of Pretentious Middle School... Hyperextended crabs. Pinwheel of death. Broken winged pterodactyl. Such terminology seems befitting of comparisons found in the interpretive writing assignments of pretentious middle school students in an introductory art class. At the very least, they certainly do not invoke the feelings associated with rational conceptions of what they describe in reality: districts across ordinary towns in the United States. More sensibly, one could delegate responsibility for these frighteningly amorphous and visually unappealing figures to the contrived workings of legislatures, yet a certain degree of accountability ought to be attributed to the currently flawed legal precedent for handling the intricacies of one of America s most virulent issues. Furthermore, the issue runs much deeper than the superficial concerns from, they are physically discernable warning signs of a startling trend that regrettably stifles political discourse and obscures the legitimate appeals of constituents: the prevalence of district gerrymandering. Every decade, as per the Supreme Court s ruling in Reynolds v. Sims, U.S. Congressional districts reevaluate the status quo situation of political district in regards to population, and redraw their individual localities accordingly. In its intended form, this process bolsters the election process through taking into consideration different migratory patterns that would perhaps misrepresent the geographical reality, ensuring that one man s vote in a congressional ... • 5. Stereotypes About Gender Differences I ve never been one to believe that the entirety of one s personality relies solely on certain traits or associations. However, stereotypes exist for a reason. While generalisations are often destructive, they must be rooted in some sort of truth. After all, a particular observation must have been made many times for most sweeping statements to become embedded in one s thought processes. Stereotypesregarding genderfollow this pattern as well. Men and women differ in not only their inclinations, but even tend to pursue different aspirations. They also tend to communicate in different manners, often using different approaches to support others and solve problems. This paper will talk about the best way I feel is to reach the linguistic needs of my students. There were about twenty five ELL students in my classroom this past semester, however, I only worked with six. All the ELL students in my class were Spanish speakers as their first language. Although I didn t work with these students more than once a week, I gained a good enough sense of my six students I will be keeping them in mind as I write this paper. There were five boys and one girls. I addressed their language learning needs in a few ways. I typically worked with my student during their English time during the day to help the develop their English. One way I addressed the needs of my students by making flash cards for the vocabulary words that I would be teaching my students each week. I also adjusted my speech when talking to the students for when the students were not understanding me, using simpler words. Also at times when my students were not understanding English, or felt like they were not able to write in English I let them speak in Spanish between each other to help clarify what was happening and I would let the students write in Spanish, then tell me what they were saying in English. • 10. Summary Of Hypocrite Of Women By Denise Levertov Hypocrite of Women, by Denise Levertov seems to contain a deep message within its playful wording. The basic meaning that I was able to pull from within this was that as women we are hypocrites, because we will shun others within society for what we consider to be inappropriate behavior, or below the standards of society, however when it comes down to our own personal faults within our characters, we tend to overlook them or ignore them. This is a fascinating poem because I feel like it does reflect how society was as well as is today. In The Ache of Marriage, I was able to discern that Denise Levertov s goal was to explore the pain of an unwanted marriage. The pain that she reflects within her writing seems to be of both an emotional and a physical basis. This... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She seems to be saying that without the pain and the tribulations, a marriage wouldn t be worth as much. It s almost like she says that the sacrifices are what makes the marriage worth it. The pain of this marriage results in the ultimate achievement of the objective of marriage. The poem states that all the aches and pains of marriage are worth going through because the love of another is epic. I found that the two of these poems together were a fascinating combination, because one speaks of the hypocrisy of not doing anything about the flaws in a person s own characteristics, and the other seems to say to live with the pain that you have to live with the faults; through doing so one will find bliss; it is worth the sacrifice. I like the fact that they seem to contradict one another because as people in general we tend to contradict ourselves. Stereotyping is a worldwide illness that has placed judgment on black men and women to the point that they are limited to opportunity and advancement in the working world and the political environment. In late August, early September 2006, an African American student of Jena High School located in Jena, Louisiana asked if he could sit under a tree on campus that was commonly known for only white students to sit under (Christie, 2008). The very next day after the African American student sat under that specific tree, three nooses were hanging from the tree. The school principal of Jena High School found out that three white students were responsible for this incident. Even though expulsion was recommended for the three white students, the superintendent of the school only suspended them for three days. • 16. Similarities Between Sumerian And Mesopotamia The ancient civilizations of Sumer and Egypt were each shaped by their environments. In the Sumer civilization they lived on a flat plain with few mountains to buffer them from invasion and relied on an unpredictable twin river system. Sumer lacked vital natural resources such as wood and precious metals. In Egyptthey had the advantage of a consistent flooding season as well as protection of natural barriers surrounding them. These natural boundaries included desert, mountain, as well as water. Where Sumerlacked natural resources, Egypt was blessed with a plentiful supply of them. From the river flooding of their plains to the natural barriers or lack thereof surrounding their area helped influence how these civilizations handled their government, writing, and agriculture. The nature of their life giving rivers affected both Sumer and Egypt. Whether it was the consistent flooding of the Nile or the erratic nature of the Tigris Euphrates delta each river had an impact on the way of life in these civilizations. Sumer blossomed in the Tigers Euphrates valley in an area referred to as Mesopotamiawhich The Earth and its Peoples defines as land between rivers For the Sumerians the Tigris and Euphrates flooding was unpredictable and would destroy farms and crops. His paintings also had a common theme of representing how the nation had become unified once again with the conclusion of the Civil War. In his painting Snap the Whip , you can clearly tell this from the locking of arms between boys representing teamwork. Oceans and bodies of water were also a common theme in his art works. You can see this quite clearly in his 1876 painting Breezing Up . Homer s most common art media was Oil Paint. Almost every single one of Homer s famous paintings is painted in oil paint. From this it is clear that wine was hugely vital to the Hellenic culture which allowed anyone to drink consume it. Mostly all citizens would take part in these symposia so it s clear that what Alexander did was very normal. • 25. The Dangers Of Social Pressure The Dangers of Relenting to Social Pressure From early childhood to adulthood, the urge to submit to social pressure is a reality that shapes everyone on a daily basis. The desire to meet societal expectations is a factor that greatly impacts decision making from fashion sense, to choosing friends, and to making the right choices in the work force. Many times, this desire for acceptance repudiates one s beliefs and innate senses. In Opinions and Social Pressure by Solomon Asch, and Perils of Obedience by Stanley Milgram, the two psychologists conduct a series of experiments to observe how the influence of social pressure leads to conformity and obedience to authority. Both experiments demonstrate the adverse effects of social pressure, for conformity involves a sacrifice of self interests, while blind obedience to authority results in the harm of others. According to the results of the experiments, social pressure is a force that can cause people to act outside of their personal convictions and moral conscience. In Asch s experiment, he gathers a group of seven to nine male college students, to participate in a psychological experiment in visual judgment experiment in order to observe the time it would take for a subject to yield to social pressure (Asch 9). The company must also find solutions to natural conditions, for example, heat. • 36. The Rime Of The Ancyent Marinere Analysis In the poem The Rime of the Ancyent Marinere, the Marinere attains a change of mindset in regards to the sea snakes he encounters. This moment in the poem is larger than just the liking or disliking of an animal; it shows a larger change within the Marinere. Through exploring the concept of seeing in Carlos Castanedas novel A Separate Reality, and applying it to the beloved Marinere, it is discovered that the Marinere completes the act of seeing. Being able to see allows the Marinere this shift in perspective and the gain of respect his has for all beings by the end of the piece. The Marinere s negative view of the sea snakes are an extension of his perception in regards to his unfavorable situation. The Mariner s first view of the sea snakes is one filled with contempt, which is carried by his overall feelings of despair and separation. The beginning of section four of The Rime of The Ancyent Marinere proceeds the death of the crew. The Mariner relates how he is alone and his soul is in agony (IV, 224 227). He furthers his separation from the beings around describing the dead men that lay on the deck as beautiful (IV, 228 229). The living sea snakes as a million million slimy things, and then himself as simply living with them without a secondary descriptor (IV, 229 231). His lack of description for himself is another separation between the Marinere and his surrounds; the cause of his worsening outlook and perception of his situation. The Marinere s situation is not changed, however his perception changes and because of a new and brighter outlook he gains in cognizance with the sea snakes. The Marinere s change in perception begins when moonlight bathes the ocean and in return everything encaptured in it. Again the Mariner takes a special interest in the sea snakes for they live on as he does (IV, 230 231). At this point in the poem the sea snakes are now happy living things (IV, 274). The Marinere feels a sense of love towards them and blesses them without his conscious awareness (IV, 276 277). Also, the debate over whether immigrants should be given more rights has been an intractable problem for a long period. According to statistics from Wikipedia, as for 2005, the United Nations reported that there were nearly 191 million international immigrants worldwide, about three percent of the world s population (Immigration). Although it does not seem to take up a large proportion, actually the amount of the immigrant population is particularly huge. In this way, policies on immigration are considered remarkably significant. Moreover, recently the attacks in European countries have also poured fuel on the already heated debate over immigration policy. In most cases, local citizens and governments do not welcome immigrants into their own country, which is partly due to the discrimination. Obviously, it is unfair to them. Immigrants should be treated equally and given more rights than the rights they possess now because they contribute to boosting economy, creating a harmonious society and they are legal immigrants. Many people assume that if immigrants are given more rights, there will be more immigrants into the country, which will result in an economic burden to society. Some inmates, upon their release, make similar mistakes and commit crimes; with an educated prison populous, this potentially becomes eliminated for most inmates. With a decrease in crimes, the prison population decreases, as does the cost to house them in prisons. The increased revenue is then used in educating first time offenders, thus reducing the risk of them becoming repeat offenders. Creating positive influences on our prisoners can reap many more benefits than just educating and releasing back into society. Just as we invest money to educate our children, we can reinvest money to target populations that our prisoners come from to prevent crimes.
