Effective Advocates For Small Business Utilization Essay
To be effective advocates for small business utilization in DoD acquisitions, Small Business
Professionals (SBPs) need to participate early in the acquisition process and throughout it, and
become trusted members of the team. To accomplish this, SBPs must be knowledgeable of pre and
post award support they can provide to the acquisition team, as well as how small businesses can
help DoD meet its procurement requirements. SBPs have the greatest influence during the pre
solicitation phase of the process. The social initiative is to be recognized as trusted advisors where
they understand the customer s requirements and are knowledgeable of small businessprograms. As
an acquisition sustainability strategy determines, SBPs should provide information on small
businesses and how they might meet the requirements. Reciprocity relates to the idea that
people like to return favors and pay back debts, which can lead to feeling obliged to repay an
offer in some way to address discomfort with feeling indebted to someone else. Commitment is
associated with the desire to follow through on something we ve expressed interest in previously.
Social proof is linked to the idea that if others are doing something we re more likely to do it as
well, particularly when feeling uncertain. Liking suggests that people are more likely to be
influenced by people they like, which can come from similarity, trust, and familiarity. Authority is
associated with credibility; people are more likely to

Becoming A Nurse Application Essay
My aspiration to become a nurse developed through the care I received from many nurses as a very
ill child. My goal in life is to make those in need feel as cared for and well supported as I did
through a difficult time. From the age of 13 I have been gathering experience in different medical
areas to discover what suits me best. In year 9 I was enrolled on a 3 year introduction to medicine
course which is a coalition between Sheffield University, South Yorkshire Education Department
and Sheffield Outreach and Access Medical Scheme. I was 1 of 60 to be successfully chosen to
attend this course out of over 800 applicants. During this time I learnt the basic healthcare skills
such as the ABCDE approach, handling and moving patients, dealing with penetrating trauma and
how to deal with urgent real life situations. In addition to this, I attended Sixth Form work
experience at Rotherham General Hospital. I was taught about caring for a patient, such as
examination and assessment of patients, checking the vital signs, taking blood, how to give IM/SC
injections and insert IVs. I also witnessed 2 theatre operations where I shadowed... Show more

Since starting my apprenticeship, I feel I have further improved these qualities through motivational
interviewing, having daily one on one experiences with different clients and working as a part of a
healthcare team. I have learnt from the many health checks I have carried out how to communicate
both good and bad news and advice to many kinds of personalities as well as helped me to realise
the many ways that people can resist or accept change. Meeting many new people and hearing
their stories has sparked my interest into the many types of illness and disease; evolving a
curiosity as to why and how these types of chronic or acute illness occur and how people deal with
them on a daily

Narrative Is The Representation Of An Event Or Series Of...
Plainly, a narrative is the representation of an event or series of events. However, questionably, a
first person narrative holds far more significance as it acts as a personal mechanism that is used
to define oneself. This may be referred to as a self narrative, Ibarra, H. and Barbulescu, R. 2010
refer to this to describe a story that is informative of the speaker. It is humannature to create
narratives that represent ourselves and where we stand in society. These constructions allow us
to connect and identify with society as well as bind ourselves to an institution. They are a mode
of making sense of the world. As explained by Kerby, (1991) our sense of self is a product of the
stories we tell ourselves and others. In this essay I will explore different functions of narratives
including the constant need for humans to forge narratives to identify themselves. With particular
reference to how we relate to other people in order to feel part of a group, including how this
changes through different strata s of society, such as of varying age. I will draw on theories such
as: Greima s (1996) actantial model, Labov s (1992) structure of oral narratives, narrativetheory and
Person environment fit theory.
Successful narrative have three features. Firstly, temporality, a chronological sequence of events.
This is the aspect that represents a flow of events. Linguistics consider that narratives make
evolutionary sense if they re observed as the notion by which human kind

Nitrate And Its Effects On Exercise Abuse In The Human Body
Nitrate (NO3 ) supplementation has been widely researched for its effects on exercise
performance since Larsen et al 2007 found that it decreased the oxygen cost of submaximal
aerobic exercise. The effect of NO3 in the body is tied to the production of nitric oxide (NO),
which is an endogenous gas that plays a regulatory role in many processes in the human body,
including; bloodpressure, calcium handling, mitochondrial biogenesis, excitation coupling
contraction, oxidative stress, regulation of blood flow to muscletissues, and skeletal muscle repair
(Stamler Meismer 2001). NO is produced in the body via the L Arginine pathway, where NO is
synthesized by NO synthase enzymes (Stamler Meismer 2001).
However, studies have discovered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This increase in exercise tolerance may be able to increase the performance of both moderate and
high intensity exercise, but the research is conflicting regarding nitrate s effectiveness on high
intensity exercise. Nitrate supplementation seems to be a useful ergogenic aid that could help
increase the performance in diverse types of exercise.
The most widely researched and documented effects of nitrate intake been its ability to decrease
the oxygen cost of submaximal aerobic exercise, at least in moderately trained or sedentary
individuals. The first study to discover these findings was conducted by Larsen et al in 2007.
They found that the oxygen uptake of moderately fit males while cycling at a moderate intensity
(45% 85% VO2max) was reduced by an average of 0.16 L/min 1. The most shocking result of
these findings were that it happened without an increase in the formation of blood lactate levels
or any changes to heart rate, meaning that the nitrate supplementation did in fact increase muscle
efficiency (Larsen et al, 2007). These effects have been most commonly noted in cycling (Larsen
et al, 2007; Baily et al 2015, 2010 and 2009) and running (Porcelli et al, 2015). Reducing the
oxygen cost of exercise during aerobic activities would benefit greatly in competition, as it would
allow an individual to maintain a faster pace at a lower percentage of their VO2max than they
previously could, thus theoretically delaying fatigue.
This effect of oxygen cost on

A Visit At The Georgia Dome
Everyone expects their sixteenth birthday to be this grand wonderful event with friends, family, and
maybe some cake, but what most don t expect is to make their eighteenth just as important. Yes,
turning eighteen is just as significant as turning sixteen because it symbolizes your transformation
from a teenager to an adult, but that is why we celebrate turning sixteen as heavily as we do. My
eighteenth birthdaytruly was a grand event, one where even in my wildest imaginations I never
pictured doing the things I did, it felt like something out of a Hollywood movie script. The
celebration started with a concert at the Georgia Dome, on October 1st, leading all the way to its
grand finale, a trip to New York City, on October 10th. It was two solid weeks of surprise after
surprise with each surprise being bigger and better than the last, or at least in my opinion anyway.
October 1st was seeing One Direction, my favorite band, live, the 2nd was surprise tickets to
Cirque Du Soleil, the 3rd was a surprise party with friends and family, the 10th through the 12th
was a trip to New York City, and lastly and later on in the day of the 12th was seeing Disney s
Frozen on ice. I don t think I have ever been happier than when attending all five of these events.
Seven o clock pm, Wednesday October 1st, 2014, was the exact time my skipped a beat; it was the
exact time the concert of my dreams started. One Direction, consisting of Niall Horan, Liam Payne,
Louis Tomlinson, Harry Styles,

Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And...
The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed
relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis
Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their
personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both
moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or
alcohol, but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavans mother was detached
and negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her
twenties as a way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards
the end of her life. Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after
Bacon expressed his homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell
in love with the older man that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting
after seeing an exhibit of Pablo Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this
trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a
sort of income. He entered an extremely mentally and physically abusive relationship. These
adversities from personal lives influenced the work of both individuals to a tremendous degree.
Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her
character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s
work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes of homosexuality, and scenes of pain.
Understanding the individuals personal circumstances adds a new layer of meaning and
interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the two individuals is that
they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the typical Lovecraftian
horror associated with the genre. Bacon s paintings as visual experiences are quite unlike other
works considered to be cosmic horror; however, their unconventionality does not exclude them.
Rather than focusing on the fear of the

Historically, the banana trade symbolized economic imperialism, injustices in the global trade
market, and the exploitation of agriculture dependent third world countries (2). However, they
remain to be one of the most profitable items in grocery stores. Making bananas crucial to
economic and global food stability for countries all over the world. They are the third largest staple
crop, coming only after wheat and coffee. Since bananas are such a sought after fruit, many
companies have gone to extensive lengths in the to fight for a share of the market. Chiquita

It seems that in going through Chiquita s company background, that they have been somewhat of
a shady brand since its origin. Eli Black, CEO in 1970, paid a US$1.25 million bribe to Honduran
official in return for them reducing taxes on the company s banana exports. He then proceeded to
kill himself. The next CEO, Carl Linder, was know for bottom fishing and led the company into
bankrupty in 2002. Next in line to assume the title was Agguire.
It seemed that he was faced with an overwhelming load of problems from Chiquita s past, but he
quickly decided on the best way to fix it. He told CEO Magazine in 2007, [Chiquita s] key
challenge is to control costs while supporting innovation efforts. Cost saving programs have not
been nearly enough to offset higher industry and other costs. He said also that the second challenge
is to remain agile in a competitive, fast paced marketplace that is characterized by growing
consumer expectations [...] and that in order to strengthen the [...] power of the brand, [they] are
developing strategies based on consumer brands for healthy, fresh foods and focusing on
diversification and innovation (5). He made it clear from the beginning that Chiquita would be
transitioning from the low margin operations to a company that produced more value added
products. Also, that they would begin to maintain an excellent record of food safety, quality,
management, customer service, and in store

Coping with Blindness
Coping With Blindness
Blindness: The state of lacking sight or not being able to see.
People in their everyday lives use their eye sight to help them function with everything they do.
We never usually stop and think about the consequences and changes we would have to make if
we were to one day lose our vision. Some people question about how we could lose our sight.
There are many different ways this might happen. It could be by accident, with something injuring
the eye. It could also be Cataracts, this could effect vision since the lens in the eye becomes foggy
and eventually over time vision could be totally impaired. Glaucoma could be another cause, this is
when fluids in the eye build up and cause too much pressure in the eye; damaging important nerves.
There are many other diseases and illnesses that could cause blindness. Once you go blind there is a
very slim chance that you will get your vision back. You will have to deal with the fact that your
life will never be the same and you will need to get the help to cope with your life changing loss.
Over the years experts have developed ways to make coping with blindness easier for people.
Giving tips and providing devices to help them complete tasks and activities in their life just a bit
easier. Whether its transportation, communicating or things we do in our everyday lives; specialists
will keep finding ways to help the visually impaired and the blind.
Obviously transportation is a key thing in our lives. Being

Corporate Personality
Corporate Personality
[pic][pic][pic]Corporate Personality is the creation of law. Legal personality of corporation is
recognized both in English and Indian law. A corporation is an artificial person enjoying in law
capacity to have rights and duties and holding property.
A corporation is distinguished by reference to different kinds of things which the law selects for
personification. The individuals forming the corpus of corporation are called its members. The
juristic personality of corporations pre supposes the existence of three conditions :
(1) There must be a group or body of human beings associated for a certain purpose.

In case of a company, by incorporation it gains a corporate personality which is separate or
distinct from the members who compose it. The property of the company belongs to it and not its
members; it may sue or be sued in its own name ; it may enter into contracts with third parties
independently and even the members themselves can enter into contract with the company
According to Section 34(2) of the Companies Act , upon issue of the certificate of incorporation ,
the subscribers to the memorandum and other persons , who may from time , be the members of
the company, shall be a body corporate, which is capable of exercising all the functions of an
incorporated company and having perpetual succession and a common seal. Thus the company
becomes a body corporate which is capable immediately of functioning as an incorporated
individual. With the incorporation, the entity of the company becomes institutionalized. This
principle of the independent corporate existence and the principle of corporate personality of a
company were recognized in the case of Saloman v. Saloman Co . In this case Salomon was a boot
and shoe manufacturer. He incorporated a company named Salomon Co Ltd, for the purpose of
taking over and carrying on his business. The seven subscribers to the memorandum were Salomon,
his wife, his daughter and four sons and they remained the only members of the company. The
company went into liquidation within a year. The unsecured

The Bible And The Wiersbe Bible Commentary Essay
In this paper, I will write a scriptural response to the assigned reading of the NIV Study Bible
and the Wiersbe Bible Commentary. I will write my response to the reading from Deuteronomy
in the NIV Study Bible and Wiersbe Bible Commentary. Obedience God stresses the importance
of obedience all through Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy starts with Moses retelling of how Israel
delivered from oppression by God. How if they had only been obedient in the first place they
would not have had to wander in the wilderness for all these years. Now, Israel, hear the decrees
and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take
possession of the land the Lord the God of your ancestors, is giving you (NIV Deuteronomy
4:1). Moses later says, Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may
go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD you
God give you for all time (NIV Deuteronomy 4:40). Moses reminds them that they should fear the
LORD. And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your
God, to walk in obedience to him to love him, to serve the LORD you God with all your heart and
with all your soul, and to observe the LORD S commands and decrees that I am giving you today
for your own good (NIV 10:12 13). Moses also reminds Israel that by staying obedient to God and
by following God s commands, He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame

Does the government the government seem to take control of to many aspects of our daily lives or

way we do today. Although the setting of the book The Hunger Games, is set somewhere in the
near future there are still many things that the governmentis doing that relates a lot to what we are
doing today. The Capitol, where the central government is located, regulates the whole country by

Jabberjays were homing birds, exclusively male, that were released into regions where the
Capitol s enemies were known to be hiding. After the birds gathered words, they d fly back to
centers to be recorded (Collins 40). These seem similar to recording devices that can be planted
into houses or cars to translate what is being said and later given to people who feel the
information is important. With the jabberjays being so similar to equipment we have now days,
nothing can go unsaid that isn t going to be heard later. That being said, not only does the
Capitol survey all 12 districts through the use of recorders but they also have the means to do it
by the sky. It didn t make a sound, but they saw it. A net dropped down on the girl and carried her

How St Clare Of Assisi Changed Society And The Catholic...
Good morning Mr Campbell and class today I will be talking about how St Clare of a Assisi is a
radical reformer and how she changed society and the Catholic Church
Biography
Chiara Offreduccio born on July 16, 1194 Assisi, Italy. St Clare of Assisi being her name now due
to her being canonized in 1255, was born into a wealthy family that own a house on the top of the
hill in Assisi. Clare being the eldest sister she followed by example by the teaching of Jesus. We
believe that when Clare was little she would have be able to hear and see the mass from her room
as she not able to go to mass therefore she is called the patron saint of television. On palm Sunday
1212 St Clare of Assisi ran to Rome with St Francis Xavier to preach the word of the Lord and the
Order of Poor Ladies, a group of poor women that dedicated their life to God and wanted to be
recognised to the Catholic Church. St Clare of Assisi died August 11 1253, feast day on August 11

St Clare of Assisi is called a radical reformer, therefore her actions and the challenges that she has
faced in her life has had a impact to society and the Catholic Church. Back then society was very
sexist. For example women were not allowed to enter events or do anything without permission
from the husband, St Clare of Assisi believed that all people should be allowed in the Catholic
Church therefore she went off to Rome and created the Order of Poor Ladies. Many people
believed that women were supposed to stay and home and do household jobs and this made a
drastic turn for society and the Catholic Church. One of the hardest hurdles that she had to
overcome was changing the public perception on the role of women in society. Fortunately she
had St Francis Xavier on her side and soon enough people agreed and this lead to one of the
biggest changes in the Catholic

Drinking And Driving Research Paper
This problem is far too common, especially among the young. Despite numerous attempts to
enforce the slogan don t drink and drive into the minds of people everywhere, it can often fall on
deaf ears. A person needs to understand this message early and needs to be exposed to it often.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case. Today, only one in every three parents have discussed
a clear no use message about alcohol behind the wheel with their children. The problem is not
just going to vanish into thin air. There needs to be some sort of action. If not, the problem of
alcohol use while driving will remain a problem for people of any age. What people don t seem to

In 2008, the United States of America (US) experienced a financial crisis which affected the rest of
the world. Investment banks and Wall Street crashed. It left a good portion of US citizens in debt,
unemployed, homeless, etc. As a result, Occupy Wall Street became a movement to demonstrate
that the people have had enough and started protesting and voicing their opinions. In terms of
globalization, the development of Occupy movements have altered the notion of social movements
to which it is not just about highlighting and fighting for causes, rather it desires to place the power
back into the hands of the people. The term movements has become a catchall definition about the

The American economy was plummeting and taking the world with it. After a few years, the
citizens realize what caused the crisis and how it happened which created the OWS movement
and the population frustration with the capitalist system. In addition, one must note that those
who caused the financial crisis avoided punishment. They were the ones who lead the economy
into failure and, now, promising that they are the only ones who can fix it. In Inside Job, it
demonstrated the consequences of the crisis and financial innovation, through the educational
system. It means that those who consulted with financial firms and companies were professors
or on the board of directors of ivy league schools, who teach their economic ideologies onto the
future generation.7 Ergo, this is creating a vicious economic cycle that needs to change. Occupy
Wall Street: Origin, Purpose, Values and Goals As a result of the 2008 US financial crisis, the
OWS was formed within the period of the US recovery process to fight the oppression of the
current economic powers. From various sources, OWS seemed to have gained inspiration from
Arab Spring. The Arab Spring is a wave of protests for political change. The Americans realized
that they desired a change of economic system because the capitalist system was creating social
inequality.8 Still, the movement of OWS is an occupy movement that needs to be defined and

A Discussion On Expressing Yourself
Expressing yourself When anyone mentions the deep web, the public usually thinks of the dark
place in the internet where crimes and conspiracy theories take place. To begin, the internet is
split into two sections called the Clearnet and deep web. Clearnet are websites that are indexed
like, Amazon, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter. Clearnet websites are easily accessible due to
the high ranking in popularity. The Deep web is still part of the internet, to be more specific the
deep web holds 95% of the internet content and the Clearnet contains only 5%, which is roughly
x500 the content. The Deep web is any website that cannot be indexed by a search engine. Deep
Web or the hidden web are websites that the general public access every day. For example,
Facebook and YouTube are Clearnet sites ( http://www.facebook.com ) but when you login, then
the content would be considered deep web ( https://www.facebook.com/muhaimin.khandaker.5).
This is because web crawlers ( a software that indexes websites) cannot index websites that
requires a form authentication ( Email and password). Another way websites are not indexed is
with the robot.txt file. The robot.txt file is a line that web developers can incorporate when
developing a website that does not want to be indexed. The deep web is not the dark web but,
the dark web is a small part of the deep web. Dark web uses software like Freenet, Jondo, Ip2,
Alienet, Tails OS, and the most famous software, Tor to access websites anonymously

Bosnian Genocide And Holocaust Similarities
Genocide is one of the worst inventions man has made. More formally known as massacres
before the early 1900s(Cooke welling 69), they have always been very harmful to an ethnicity or
religions growth. The word itself originates from latin roots. The words whole and burned in latin
morph to make the word holocaust A few of the worst ones in history have happened in just the
past century. One that is very familiar is The Holocaust. It was the genocideof the Jewish faith
during World War II by Adolf Hitler and the Nazi Party( The Holocaust ). Hitler believed that the

Many examples in history show multiple times where people have banded together to fight for
the common good, but they might always notice how bad it actually in. This is what happened
in the Bosnian genocide with the world. Nobody actually reacted until the news was spread
worldwide that Serbs killed 8,000 males in Srebrenica( Genocide and 34). This is when the rest
of the world, especially developed countries, saw the need to help these innocent people in
Bosnia. The United Nations tried to help the Bosniaks and Croats who were in severe need of a
rescue but only sent 400 soldiers. The city of Srebrenica had so much violence in it that it was
too spread out for the UN soldiers to make an impact. This resulted in these soldiers getting
criticized around the world for their lack of contribution(36). This was not the case for the
genocide of the Jews. The Jews were at the height of media during the second World War. Hitler
and his Nazi party made headlines week after week with the Holocaust. Many of the countries in
the Allied Powers were shocked to see that something so disastrous could actually happen.Mass
killings were constantly made at every camp. There is an estimated 250,000 Jewish people who

Zoos Persuasive Essay
Imagine being captive for life. In a cage locked up when your so innocent. Zoos have become a
controversial issue in our society, and from what I am thinking, I feel that it s not right to keep
the animals in zoos. So do we have the rights to do that? Generally every body has been to a zoo
at least once in their life, I m sure you can remember when you were a kid adoring animals behind
glass. But you were missing the point the big picture.
Animals need freedom it s like being locked in a jail cell. Animals can t do there wild life features
because they do not have the space that they would have in the outdoor word. It causes so much
stress on the animals the exhibits animals are put in are often much smaller than their original

We shouldn t put animals lower than us because we are all a part of nature. too harsh to take
these animals from their own family and habitat just so we can have an hour of entertainment
on the weekends. From my point of view, it s just not fair. Plus another reason to add to this is the
harambe incident. May 28 2016 Peter singer and Karen Dawn professor of bioethics stated a child
was curious and a gorilla got shot . A four year old child climbed past a barricade and fell into a
moat the gorilla grabbed the little boy and dragged him around and easily could of cracked his head
or drowned. The zoo officials shot harambe as the only way to guarantee the child s safety. This
incident caused a lot of rage for the parents and people to the zoo. This would not happen If
harambe was caged up, he simply didn t even know, he sees something new in his cage and of
course he s gonna play with it. Think of it this way what if you were in a jail cell and a new

Another aspect of diction that Stuff You Should Know utilizes effectively is simplicity, it is
important to keep diction simple and clear in order to create a sense of cohesiveness when
speaking which also allows the listeners to understand the points being made. For instance The
laws governing the regulation of cosmetics have not changed in any way, shape or form (23:45,
episode 1). When one of the hosts were talking the law in terms of cosmetic safety and how it has
been unmodified since a century ago, he uses very simplistic terms in order to keep his points
clear, cohesive and easy to follow from the perspective of the listener. This is important as many
podcasts do not give enough recognition into the importance of keeping your diction simple at
certain points in order to allow the listener to fully understand the point being made.
There were some negative applications of diction throughout some of the episodes, where the
diction was far too simple which lead to vagueness and confusion. For instance I wish I was into
the old mario whatever that one was the big world one (4:43, Episode 2) This is simply confusing
and incohesive in painting a picture in the reader s mind or persuading them to ascertain to a point
being made. The host of the podcast having used overly simplistic terms was a negative utilization
of diction as it distracts the listener from the actual point being made and causes sorts of disruption.
From the listener s perspective, it would

Art And Symbolism In Ancient Egyptian Art
In ancient Egypt the art was both uniquely stylized and symbolic. As the way that hieroglyphs
were a visual language, the art of human figure ancient Egypt followed specific rules in order to
be read, understood, and symbolic. Artists were not concerned with creating realistic images but
rather to represent an ideal and harmonious version of reality. Artists developed conventions a
harmonious canon of proportions, controlling the angle of view, and the size of each part in
relation to the whole. The human figure was presented in composite perspective. For royal and
other depictions of beings of a higher power, heads were shown in profile, capturing the shape of
the nose, forehead, and chin. The eyes were formed to face frontwards,... Show more content on

During 17 years of reigning, 1353 1336 BCE, he broke the conventions of Egyptian art by
showing himself in warm family scenes with his wife and children, and portraying himself and the
rest of the royal family in a much more human and naturalistic manner, such as eyes being slightly
more profiled than any of his predecessors had. There was also a push of physical distortion. It
was all distinctively stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself
was the most peculiar result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten,
he is shown as having a long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes,
full lips, long arms and fingers, rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd
androgynous appearance, depicted in the colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet,
carved out of sandstone, was particularly prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His
appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art style and the test of his relationship to the gods.
Also another important piece to come out of this time was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen,
made of painted limestone. The beautiful Nefertari was discovered in 1912 in the studio of the
sculptor Thutmose. The facial features of her are too idealistic to be human, with a thin slender
neck, but strangely come so close to what moderns day society ideal of beauty

The Accuracy Of Banduray In Sports
The accuracy of a person can be improved by playing video games that involves shooting and
aiming at other objects. Shooting in a game is similar to shooting or throwing objects in real
life. It takes predictions and precision. Not only in video games, but accuracy is a very important
key factor in many sports as well. For example, soccer requires aiming the ball at a certain angle
or direction to pass it to another player. (Frankl, 2000) This compares to the weapon shooting a
bullet at a certain angle or direction in order to snipe another playing running or jumping. A group
of participants helped with a study at the Ohio State University to test whether shooting games
helped improve a player s accuracy in real life shooting. In this experiment,... Show more content on

For example, sports are one way these skills can be applied to action. In soccer, you aim the ball
and kick it to whatever spot you want it to go, but that requires the ability of aiming. (Frankl,
2000) In darts, you aim the throwing dart using the mechanics vertical or horizontal aim to land it
closer to the center of the dartboard. (Burger, J) Why accuracy is an important skill to society,
especially for policemen, soldiers, firefighters, etc, is because it helps with their responsibilities.
The new training with First Person Shooter game can be a new method to improving their
accuracy for their jobs. However, there are negative uses with this skill such as shooting to kill
others. (Bushman Whitaker, 2012) But in general, if First Person Shooters do help enhance people

Cause Of Biodiversity
The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the
world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified
the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the
biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet.
The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of
the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable
species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species
and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new
natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o
Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect,
effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and
abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects
biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the
Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the
activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural
resource in a

The Disguise And Trickery Dionysus In Euripides
This play written by Euripides has several little main ideas throughout but one of the main ones
that I am going to focus on is the disguise and trickery Dionysus is able to perform to get what he
wants. Throughout the play Dionysus never got the respect that he felt that he deserved from the
other gods. The reason that Dionysusreceived no respect is because he is mortal; his mother who
was a mortal gave birth to him by a god, so in the world they are living in this makes him equal to
the humans not the gods. Because Dionysus was both Greek and Asiatic, along with being part
god and part human this made him a very diverse being. Dionysus soon realized though that he
could use this to his own advantage, he could easily be disguised as a

he was charged for the weapon and drugs. The first action the officer had to take was determine if

Personality And Gender Essay
Personality, Gender and their Relationship in a Kinesiology Program A person can be defined in
many ways: sex, age, hair colour, weight, and most importantly personality. The personality of a
person can be a determining factor of many areas of a person s life. Personality can be a predictor
of whether a personlikes or dislikes sports, how much schooling there will go through and what
occupation a person may chose. There are many aspects to a person s personality and there are an
numerous ways to determine a person s personality. One of the ways to determine an individual s

There have been many studies that have supported the hypothesis of the connection between the

Furthermore, another study that was preformed was one in which researchers attempted ...to

every decision an individual makes and there have been many studies that support theories similar
to this. For example, personality and gender can be used to predict grades, among other things,
for first year post secondary students. There is a relationship between a few personality traits and
the quality of effort put forth by a first year post secondary student. A personality trait like

which players are eligible to be inducted into the Hall of Fame? Located in Cooperstown, New
York, the National Baseball Hall of Fame is in anticipation for new members. An election is held

These candidates should not get the benefit of the doubt for playing during a time where
steroids were commonly used. Taking steroids is a choice; any player willing to take steroids is
giving up the honor of being inducted into the Hall of Fame (Shipigel B17). A prime example of
steroid controversy on the Hall of Fame ballot is Mark McGwire. McGwire (pictured left) hit 583
home runs, including what was once a record of 70 in the 1998 season for the St. Louis Cardinals.
McGwire s career was tainted when he was caught with Androstenedione in his locker during the
1998 season. Androstenedione better known as Andro, is a steroid precursor which is banned
from baseball. When McGwire was questioned about steroid use at a Congressional hearing on
March 17, 2005, he repeatedly said, I m not here to discuss the past (qtd. in McGwire Unlikely).
This damaged McGwire s candidacy for the Hall of Fame ballot by raising the suspicion of drug
use, influencing BBWAA writers not to vote for him. McGwire has received close to a 25
percent vote on the ballot the three years running up to 2012. Not nearly the 75 percent needed
for induction. Several BBWAA writers discussed their stance on McGwire s silence at the
Congressional hearing; that it was a tacit admission that he used steroids while playing. McGwire
needs to clarify his past and explain whether or not he used steroids, in order to maintain his
integrity and character. When evaluating McGwire s 16 year

Female Empowerment In Buffy The Vampire Slayer
Until 24 hours ago, I had never seen Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Growing up, I heard much about
this show from friends, family, and the internet. The general consensus surrounding Buffy was
that she was, and still is, a symbol of female empowerment. However, I have always been
skeptical. Is the only way to empower a female character is to make her fight vampires? Both
Gwyn Symonds s article and my first episode of Buffy have addressed these concerns. Symonds
discusses the sharing of genderroles as opposed to gender role reversal through the characters of
Buffy and Spike. Rather than Spike adopting purely feminine traits and Buffy adapting traditionally
masculine traits as a means of empowerment, the two share characteristics and tropes that can be
found in both genders. Symonds indicates that these are tentative... Show more content on

Although most women in media no longer wield a stake and kill vampires, these women are still
usually depicted practicing violence, such as Scarlett Johansson s character in the Marvel
Cinematic Universe. These women are given typically masculine traits and tropes such as
aggressiveness and a lack of emotion. Although this is an improvement from tropes such as the
damsel in distress, women are once again being fit into the confines of a box. Writers continue
to create women that can be defined in a trope, rather than an original character with a unique set
of characteristics. This will also cause female characters to lack depth. Scarlett Johansson s
character of the Black Widow, despite being a central character with multiple reappearances in the
series, lacked a back story and any character development until Avengers: Age of Ultron where her
origin was finally explored. Instead of writing women in the confines of tropes, we should be

Securing Mobile Ad Hoc Networks
SECURING MOBILE AD HOC NETWORKS Abstract: Wireless sensor networks is growing
rapidly from the past few decades. Due to its scalability, wireless sensor networks is used in many
applications. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc networks has been one of the
unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central architecture; every
node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can communicate freely
with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on neighboring
nodes to relay messages. Due to this nature, MANETs are used in many missionary applications
like military use and emergency recovery. However the wide distribution of MANETs makes it...

This can be any medium such as cellular or satellite transmission. MANETs can work both as a
host and a router. Since, there is no central infrastructure and nodes are free to move, the
neighboring nodes help in data transmission that are not in the communication range. This can be
achieved by dividing the MANETs into two types of networks i.e. single hop network and
multihop network. In a single hop wireless network all the nodes communicate directly with every
other node. In multi hop network, the neighboring nodes help in transmitting the data that are not
its communication range, which is an added advantage to MANETs. Due to this wide distribution
of MANETs makes it vulnerable o malicious attacks. For example, due to lack of protection,
attackers can easily induce malicious nodes in the network. In particular, nodes in MANETs
assumes every other node to be ignorant and behaves cooperatively with other nodes. This makes
attackers to easily compromise other nodes to achieve attacks. Furthermore, because of
decentralized architecture of MANETs, a centralized detecting technique is no longer appropriate.
Hence it is necessary to implement a detection system especially for MANETs. Existing System As
discussed, the nodes in MANETs assume every other node to cooperatively transmit the messages;
the attackers can easily induce malicious nodes into the network. Hence a secure system has to be
implemented to detect the attackers,

The Origin Of Inequality In Society
Inequality is the result of the formation of a society. In the treatise, Discourse on the Origin of
Inequality, Rousseau analyzes the important factors that develop inequality through human s
natural instincts in a society. A society is a group of individuals who leave the state of nature to
achieve a common goal under the rule of a higher power. In this case, society s common goal is to
advance from their primitive state of nature to preserve their property. Throughout society s
creation, self preservation, natural talents, and jealousybecome important influences on the
development of inequality. Self preservation is one of the many elements that kindle inequality.
According to Rousseau, mans first concern was that of his preservation (Rousseau 44), therefore
self preservation exists in the state of nature before the establishment of society. Over time, the
exercise of self preservation eventually leads to the creation of society, which results in the
creation of inequality. For instance, Rousseau claims, The first person who, having enclosed a
plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe
him, was the true founder of civil society. (44) This act of self preservation fabricates society and
consequently, steers men to the evolving of inequality. Property determines wealth which
establishes a social hierarchy, therefore creating a system of inequality. The level of equalitybegins
to shift when men preserve what belongs to him, [(the man who claims the land)], without
explaining what they mean by belonging. (17) Men start to transfer authority over to whom they
believe is stronger , while the weaker men are under the rule of the magistrate. This new idea of
regulation and superiority is what constructs the beginning of inequality. Men are naturally selfish
and care largely about their own private interests. For instance, Rousseau says, ... if a hare
happened to pass within reach of [a man], no doubt he would have pursued his prey, he cared very
little about causing his companions to miss theirs. (47). This act of greed gives up the opportunity
for another man to obtain the hare, and it is therefore a cause for inequality. Furthermore, The

capitalism versus socialism, and even the horrors of the meatpackingindustry. First, Sinclair
included the theme of The American Dream . The American Dream is the idea that the idea that

Teaching Self And Core Values Of Teaching Personal And...
Teaching personal and social responsibility (TPSR) is a lifelong journey. One can never fully
achieve the ultimate goal of becoming personally and socially responsible as it s always
expanding. TPSR is built upon the foundation of putting kids first, human decency, holistic self
development, and as Nick Forsberg said a way of being (19). It is important for a teacher to put
aside personal goals and achievements to focus on the students. The students well being and
personal growth must be the focal point. Along with these important core values TPSR is
structured around a five level system. The first two level are considered a beginner level of TPSR
and touch on respect and effort. Within the begining levels a student will begin to understand the
role expectations placed upon him or her in the classroom. This includes peaceful and respectful
participation in every activity with a maximum effort and a positive attitude. The third and fourth
level to TPSR involve self direction and helping. This involves going above and beyond the set
lessonand setting goals for yourself while showing positive leadership within the community. It
is important to identify at these level direct supervision is not necessary and varies with age.
The final level involves taking your knowledge outside the gym. This is a culmination of all levels
and a direct transfer to your everyday life. This is the stage in which one goes from being a
follower to a leader and setting an example for everyone

Apple Computer vs Microsoft
Introduction:
It seems that the competition that has been brewing between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and
Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has never really died down from the late 1970s, even as both
companies have had ups and downs in the stock market and in the consumer products market as
well.
Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple Computer
sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual graphical user interface (GUI)
elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and Macintosh operating systems. Some critics
claimed that Apple was really attempting to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop
metaphor for computer interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on

The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance and for the
first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as an audio visual work
instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this case there is also the unusual,
added complexity of a license that arguably covers some or most of the allegedly infringing
works. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of
looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of
,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the
user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way,
follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be
substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either
authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions.
Therefore they hold:
(1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make certain derivative
works, the district court properly started with the license to determine what Microsoft was
permitted to copy. Infringement cannot be founded on a licensed similarity. We read Microsoft s
license as the, district court did, to cover visual displays not the Windows 1.0

Marie Sklodowska was born Warsaw, Poland in 1867. She was raised by two teachers who
supported the idea of a good education. She was a great student and was always willing to learn
but the education she desired was not available in Poland so when her sister, Bronya, went to
Paris, Marie followed. Marie went to school in Paris to get a teaching diploma in mathematics
and physics and then to return to Poland. She didn t live with her sister and new brother in law
because she liked the freedom she had in an apartment of her own. After 3 years of living in Paris,
she received a diploma in physics and mathematics.

community. His only dream was to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her results were immediate. She noticed that the element thorium gave off the same rays as
uranium. After a lot of research she came to the conclusion that radiation did not depend on the
compound being studied. She said that it depended on the amount of uranium or thorium. She
concluded that radiation did not depend on the arrangement of atoms in a compound in a molecule
but rather the interior of the atom itself. The discovery was considered to be revolutionary at the
time. She continued to test all elements on the Periodic Table of Elements. Only uranium and
thorium gave off any sort of radiation.
Her next experiment was quite simple. She wanted to test natural ores that contain uranium or
thorium. She gathered samples from geological museums and found that pitchblende was four to
five times active with small amounts of uranium. Pitchblende is a form of the mineral uraninite
occurring in brown or black pitch like masses. Her brand new hypothesis was that a new element
that was considerably more active than uranium was preset in small amounts of ore.
Pierre gave up his research of crystals which he was heavily dedicated to join Marie in her scientific
studies. They both found that strong reactions came from test samples containing bismuth or
barium. Following up on bismuth, Marie discovered that every time she took away an amount of
bismuth, a residue with greater activity was left behind. By 1898, the substance was 300 times the
strength of

Born Sinner Biography
I was 14 years old, days before the school year ended, when I found myself stumbling upon a
surprise announcement by J. Cole, my Lord and Savior himself; My new album. 2014 Forest Hills
Drive. 12/9 .
Then there was me. A teenaged schoolgirl scavenging various german sites for any leaked sample
of this album I could find. I found myself feeling (weirdly) good about myself, like hey, look at
me, I m so unique and would you look at my music taste.
North Carolina rapper J. Cole s follow up to 2013 s Born Sinner rejects featuring collaborations,
producing his most intimate and elaborate album yet, that made me reminisce about the classic
Cole sound, though parts of this album suggest he has developed his sense of versatility by adapting
his signature sound into a more complex and diverse mixture of upright front tones and technically
produced backbeats, while incorporating his signature hard hitting lyrics, proving his ingenuity in
the production of his tracks. In his quest to canonize his sound, he ignored the release of singles

and physically. This is depicted over a choir esque sound which is layered in between few other
sub basses and upright tones which evoke a cool, airy feel, somewhat adding to the sensuality of
this song. The tones of a lush synthesizer and rattling high hats are compiled to produce this
masterpiece of a both rhythmic and chill style. The harmonious tones in the background are
formatted perfectly to comply with technical languid tones, to ensure his audience focuses on the
lyrical message, by not unnecessarily amplifying it with the backbeats and support sounds itself.
This technique of eschewing the idea of upfront rhythms and kick basses is applied to songs such
as Hello , Apparently and St Tropez , where the lyrics are the focal point of the

Counter Reform Of The Roman Catholic Church
Counter Reform of the Roman Catholic Church
The reading this week covered a pretty expansive timeline, starting in 1534 with the founding of the
Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, through the issuance of both The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility,
established in 1870, and The Doctrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1950. Not
to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The
Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily
two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the
incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time,
especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching
of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the
Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin
Luther and the growing Protestant movement.
From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning
what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. (Panzer) It was apparent that the chattel
slavery being witnessed at this time was different from the slavery mentioned biblically and
practiced historically. Pope Paul III stated that this practice of enslaving an entire ethnic group of
people for no morally justifiable

Example Of Harkness Discussion
Harkness Thoughts? Overall, I felt that we could have done much better in our Harkness
discussion. One main problem I felt with this type of discussion is that there are so many people.
In the socratic, having small groups allows everyone to be able to contribute and be involved in
the discussion. Having 10 15 people and just one really broad question doesn t cut it. I feel like
there could have been either smaller groups or multiple questions within one group. Like 10
minutes with 1 question and another ten minutes with the corresponding question.I saw that a lot of
people felt frustration because their points were being said by multiple other people, leaving them
with nothing to contribute. Therefore, a few people could be assigned one text

Care at the end of life
Care at the end of life Leah Brown HCS/545 October 31, 2013 Valerie Platt Care at the end of
life It is a fact that humans are born to die. What was once considered a natural part of life has
changed to an experience that may be more painful for the patient, family, and caregivers due to
the advances in medical care. New procedures have allowed life to be extended longer than ever
before. The question is: has the dying experience improved? This paper will include a review of
death and dying from the perspectives of the patient and caregivers. An unfortunate case will be
discussed, and the organizational structure, culture, and governance that led... Show more content on

Singer, Martin, and Kelner studied 126 patients on dialysis, diagnosed with AIDS, or residents
of long term care facilities, to determine their views on end of life issues. Their results identified
five domains of quality care at the end of life. These were adequate pain and symptom
management, avoiding inappropriate prolongation of dying, achieving a sense of control,
relieving burden, and strengthening relationships with loved ones (p. 163, 1999). The
participants expressed fear of lingering or kept alive when they could no longer enjoy their
lives. Many stated that they would not wish to go on life support if they were not going to
improve or have a chance to live a normal life again. Several mentioned that being placed on life
support was the same as being a guinea pig. There were conflicting reports on the choice of dying
at home or in a hospital. Some wanted to be at home, but others felt that was a burden on the
family (Singer, Martin, Kelner, 1999). Another study by Gourdji, McVey, Purden in 2009
interviewed palliative care patients about the meaning of quality of life at this stage of their illness,
and the factors that would improve their quality of life. They found that several factors, including
their approach to life, their approach to their illness, and their ideal of quality of life shaped their
end of life experiences. These patients stressed that they most wanted to continue

Brownsville Essay
Before the 1880s, the are of eastern Brooklyn that was to become Brownsville was known as
New Lots. This territory was primarily farmland, but it was also the location of the city s largest
waste dump, as well as the site of several facilities that supplied stone and other building
materials. In its early history, New Lots had a diverse population. English and Irish settlers,
Jewish immigrants, and a small number of African Americans farmed the land. Others were
attracted to the area by the open space and relatively fresh fresh air it provided. Brownsville at
one time was a place for waste disposal, a tenement slum, a haven for Jews before they were
accepted, the cradle of a major crime origination, a testing ground for public housing and... Show

With more than 100,000 in population, there was one significant hospital, one park, no high
school, and only two notable community centers. Local associations were available and often set
goals that they achieved. The residents of Brownsville used these associations to fight for better
services and counter the negative perception of their neighbors. During 1900s and 1910s religion
(Judaism) permeated the community. The area was once called the Jerusalem of America. This
goes to show how much religion impacted this area. Ohev Sholom was the oldest synagogue in
the community, founded in 1882 by Elias Kaplan s and again in 1883 by Eitz Chaim Machzikei.
Among rising synagogues, there were also a few that was still functioning during the 1950s. Two
of the oldest were Beth Hamedrash Hagodol founded in 1889 and Thilim Kesher Israel founded in
1891.Many synagogues fought for attention and members due to social interactions and
entertainment going on in Brooklyn and New York City. Residents had the options to attend movies
or theater in the borough, travel to Coney Island or to Central Park, and they were able to take a
ferry to Staten Island or the Bronx. Residents didn t have substantial amounts of money but they
had enough to enjoy some form of entertainment, which was usually the same time that synagogue
was in session. Over time, many of the

Social Process Theory
The Social Process Theory states that criminal behavior is a function of a socialization process.
Including of course the socio psychological interaction by the offender with institutions and social
organizations. This theory suggests that offenders turn to crime as a result of peer pressure, family
problems, poor school performance, legal entanglements and other situations that eventually steers
them towards criminal behaviors. Social Process theory also says that anyone can become a
criminal, regardless of their background. The main support and research of this theory comes from
the effect of the family on adolescents who engaged in delinquency or violent behaviors.
Researchers think there is a link between childhood experiences of violence ... Show more content

The reason I decided to write about the Social Process Theory was because of the Columbine
shooters. On the outside they had everyone fooled, they acted like great kids, were social and
had even gone to the Prom a few short weeks before they committed their acts. I think it is a
great representation that anyone can commit crime, regardless of where you ve been or what you
ve seen. The Social Process Theory is something that can affect our day to day lives, it shows us
that the choices we make are either keeping us on the right path or we are continuing to fall into
the cycle like the ones around us or the ones before

  • 2. Effective Advocates For Small Business Utilization Essay To be effective advocates for small business utilization in DoD acquisitions, Small Business Professionals (SBPs) need to participate early in the acquisition process and throughout it, and become trusted members of the team. To accomplish this, SBPs must be knowledgeable of pre and post award support they can provide to the acquisition team, as well as how small businesses can help DoD meet its procurement requirements. SBPs have the greatest influence during the pre solicitation phase of the process. The social initiative is to be recognized as trusted advisors where they understand the customer s requirements and are knowledgeable of small businessprograms. As an acquisition sustainability strategy determines, SBPs should provide information on small businesses and how they might meet the requirements. Reciprocity relates to the idea that people like to return favors and pay back debts, which can lead to feeling obliged to repay an offer in some way to address discomfort with feeling indebted to someone else. Commitment is associated with the desire to follow through on something we ve expressed interest in previously. Social proof is linked to the idea that if others are doing something we re more likely to do it as well, particularly when feeling uncertain. Liking suggests that people are more likely to be influenced by people they like, which can come from similarity, trust, and familiarity. • 3. Becoming A Nurse Application Essay My aspiration to become a nurse developed through the care I received from many nurses as a very ill child. My goal in life is to make those in need feel as cared for and well supported as I did through a difficult time. From the age of 13 I have been gathering experience in different medical areas to discover what suits me best. In year 9 I was enrolled on a 3 year introduction to medicine course which is a coalition between Sheffield University, South Yorkshire Education Department and Sheffield Outreach and Access Medical Scheme. I was 1 of 60 to be successfully chosen to attend this course out of over 800 applicants. During this time I learnt the basic healthcare skills such as the ABCDE approach, handling and moving patients, dealing with penetrating trauma and how to deal with urgent real life situations. In addition to this, I attended Sixth Form work experience at Rotherham General Hospital. I was taught about caring for a patient, such as examination and assessment of patients, checking the vital signs, taking blood, how to give IM/SC injections and insert IVs. I also witnessed 2 theatre operations where I shadowed... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 4. Narrative Is The Representation Of An Event Or Series Of... Plainly, a narrative is the representation of an event or series of events. However, questionably, a first person narrative holds far more significance as it acts as a personal mechanism that is used to define oneself. This may be referred to as a self narrative, Ibarra, H. and Barbulescu, R. 2010 refer to this to describe a story that is informative of the speaker. It is humannature to create narratives that represent ourselves and where we stand in society. These constructions allow us to connect and identify with society as well as bind ourselves to an institution. They are a mode of making sense of the world. As explained by Kerby, (1991) our sense of self is a product of the stories we tell ourselves and others. In this essay I will explore different functions of narratives including the constant need for humans to forge narratives to identify themselves. With particular reference to how we relate to other people in order to feel part of a group, including how this changes through different strata s of society, such as of varying age. I will draw on theories such as: Greima s (1996) actantial model, Labov s (1992) structure of oral narratives, narrativetheory and Person environment fit theory. Successful narrative have three features. Firstly, temporality, a chronological sequence of events. This is the aspect that represents a flow of events. Linguistics consider that narratives make evolutionary sense if they re observed as the notion by which human kind ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Nitrate And Its Effects On Exercise Abuse In The Human Body Nitrate (NO3 ) supplementation has been widely researched for its effects on exercise performance since Larsen et al 2007 found that it decreased the oxygen cost of submaximal aerobic exercise. The effect of NO3 in the body is tied to the production of nitric oxide (NO), which is an endogenous gas that plays a regulatory role in many processes in the human body, including; bloodpressure, calcium handling, mitochondrial biogenesis, excitation coupling contraction, oxidative stress, regulation of blood flow to muscletissues, and skeletal muscle repair (Stamler Meismer 2001). NO is produced in the body via the L Arginine pathway, where NO is synthesized by NO synthase enzymes (Stamler Meismer 2001). However, studies have discovered ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This increase in exercise tolerance may be able to increase the performance of both moderate and high intensity exercise, but the research is conflicting regarding nitrate s effectiveness on high intensity exercise. Nitrate supplementation seems to be a useful ergogenic aid that could help increase the performance in diverse types of exercise. The most widely researched and documented effects of nitrate intake been its ability to decrease the oxygen cost of submaximal aerobic exercise, at least in moderately trained or sedentary individuals. The first study to discover these findings was conducted by Larsen et al in 2007. They found that the oxygen uptake of moderately fit males while cycling at a moderate intensity (45% 85% VO2max) was reduced by an average of 0.16 L/min 1. The most shocking result of these findings were that it happened without an increase in the formation of blood lactate levels or any changes to heart rate, meaning that the nitrate supplementation did in fact increase muscle efficiency (Larsen et al, 2007). These effects have been most commonly noted in cycling (Larsen et al, 2007; Baily et al 2015, 2010 and 2009) and running (Porcelli et al, 2015). Reducing the oxygen cost of exercise during aerobic activities would benefit greatly in competition, as it would allow an individual to maintain a faster pace at a lower percentage of their VO2max than they previously could, thus theoretically delaying fatigue. • 6. A Visit At The Georgia Dome Everyone expects their sixteenth birthday to be this grand wonderful event with friends, family, and maybe some cake, but what most don t expect is to make their eighteenth just as important. Yes, turning eighteen is just as significant as turning sixteen because it symbolizes your transformation from a teenager to an adult, but that is why we celebrate turning sixteen as heavily as we do. My eighteenth birthdaytruly was a grand event, one where even in my wildest imaginations I never pictured doing the things I did, it felt like something out of a Hollywood movie script. The celebration started with a concert at the Georgia Dome, on October 1st, leading all the way to its grand finale, a trip to New York City, on October 10th. It was two solid weeks of surprise after surprise with each surprise being bigger and better than the last, or at least in my opinion anyway. October 1st was seeing One Direction, my favorite band, live, the 2nd was surprise tickets to Cirque Du Soleil, the 3rd was a surprise party with friends and family, the 10th through the 12th was a trip to New York City, and lastly and later on in the day of the 12th was seeing Disney s Frozen on ice. I don t think I have ever been happier than when attending all five of these events. • 7. Similarities And Similarities Between Francis Bacon And... The personal lives of great artists are often the most tragic; neglectful parents, drug addictions, failed relationships, and mental instability seem to the most common tropes. The British painter Francis Bacon and Anna Kavan, born as Helen Woods, are no exception. The similarities between their personal lives and artistic creations are striking. Both had the misfortune of neglectful parents, both moved from country to country throughout their lives, both were addicted to either heroin or alcohol, but both created gruesome and masterful works of art. Anna Kavans mother was detached and negligent. Both of Kavan s two marriages failed. She became addicted to heroin in her twenties as a way to self medicate for her depression. She spent time in insane asylums towards the end of her life. Francis Bacon s parents were far from caring; his father exiled him after Bacon expressed his homosexuality. After being entrusted to the care of a family friend, he fell in love with the older man that whisked him around the European continent. He began painting after seeing an exhibit of Pablo Picasso s work and took many years to find success with this trade. Often he resorted to alcohol and held private, and very illegal, gambling clubs to make a sort of income. He entered an extremely mentally and physically abusive relationship. These adversities from personal lives influenced the work of both individuals to a tremendous degree. Characters in Kavan s stories are frequently a kind of autobiography Anna Kavan was one of her character s names that Helen Woods eventually adopted after a mental breakdown. Francis Bacon s work pictured many of his acquaintance and lovers, scenes of homosexuality, and scenes of pain. Understanding the individuals personal circumstances adds a new layer of meaning and interpretation to their creations. A most encompassing comparison of the two individuals is that they both produced works of cosmic horror; however, it is not entirely the typical Lovecraftian horror associated with the genre. Bacon s paintings as visual experiences are quite unlike other works considered to be cosmic horror; however, their unconventionality does not exclude them. • 13. The Bible And The Wiersbe Bible Commentary Essay In this paper, I will write a scriptural response to the assigned reading of the NIV Study Bible and the Wiersbe Bible Commentary. I will write my response to the reading from Deuteronomy in the NIV Study Bible and Wiersbe Bible Commentary. Obedience God stresses the importance of obedience all through Deuteronomy. Deuteronomy starts with Moses retelling of how Israel delivered from oppression by God. How if they had only been obedient in the first place they would not have had to wander in the wilderness for all these years. Now, Israel, hear the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land the Lord the God of your ancestors, is giving you (NIV Deuteronomy 4:1). Moses later says, Keep his decrees and commands, which I am giving you today, so that it may go well with you and your children after you and that you may live long in the land the LORD you God give you for all time (NIV Deuteronomy 4:40). Moses reminds them that they should fear the LORD. And now, Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in obedience to him to love him, to serve the LORD you God with all your heart and with all your soul, and to observe the LORD S commands and decrees that I am giving you today for your own good (NIV 10:12 13). The Deep web is still part of the internet, to be more specific the deep web holds 95% of the internet content and the Clearnet contains only 5%, which is roughly x500 the content. The Deep web is any website that cannot be indexed by a search engine. Deep Web or the hidden web are websites that the general public access every day. For example, Facebook and YouTube are Clearnet sites ( http://www.facebook.com ) but when you login, then the content would be considered deep web ( https://www.facebook.com/muhaimin.khandaker.5). This is because web crawlers ( a software that indexes websites) cannot index websites that requires a form authentication ( Email and password). Another way websites are not indexed is with the robot.txt file. The robot.txt file is a line that web developers can incorporate when developing a website that does not want to be indexed. The deep web is not the dark web but, the dark web is a small part of the deep web. Dark web uses software like Freenet, Jondo, Ip2, Alienet, Tails OS, and the most famous software, Tor to access websites anonymously ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There was also a push of physical distortion. It was all distinctively stylized. The portrayal of the physical characteristics of the pharaoh himself was the most peculiar result of Akhenaten art reform. In sculptures and paintings of Akhenaten, he is shown as having a long, slender neck, a long face with a sharp chin, almond shaped eyes, full lips, long arms and fingers, rounded thighs, a soft belly, and enlarged breasts. His odd androgynous appearance, depicted in the colossal statue of Akhenaten raising to about 16 feet, carved out of sandstone, was particularly prominent in art from the early part of the reign. His appearance was the challenge of Egyptian art style and the test of his relationship to the gods. Also another important piece to come out of this time was the head of Nefertiti, the favorite queen, made of painted limestone. Cause Of Biodiversity The main cause of the loss of biodiversity can be attributed to the influence of human beings on the world s ecosystem, In fact human beings have deeply altered the environment, and have modified the territory, exploiting the species directly, for example by fishing and hunting, changing the biogeochemical cycles and transferring speciesfrom one area to another of the Planet. The threats to biodiversity can be summarized in the following main points: o Alteration and loss of the habitats: the transformation of the natural areas determines not only the loss of the vegetable species, but also a decrease in the animal species associated to them. o Introduction of exotic species and genetically modified organisms: species originating from a particular area, introduced into new natural environments can lead to different forms of imbalance in the ecological equilibrium. o Pollution: human activity influences the natural environment producing negative, direct or indirect, effects that alter the flow of energy, the chemical and physical constitution of the environment and abundance of the species; o Climate change: for example, heating of the Earth s surface affects biodiversity because it endangers all the species that adapted to the cold due to the latitude (the Polar species) or the altitude (mountain species). o Overexploitation of resources: when the activities connected with capturing and harvesting (hunting, fishing, farming) a renewable natural resource in a ... McGwire (pictured left) hit 583 home runs, including what was once a record of 70 in the 1998 season for the St. Louis Cardinals. McGwire s career was tainted when he was caught with Androstenedione in his locker during the 1998 season. Androstenedione better known as Andro, is a steroid precursor which is banned from baseball. Due to its scalability, wireless sensor networks is used in many applications. Among various wireless networks, Mobile Ad hoc networks has been one of the unique network. Unlike other network architectures, MANETs have no central architecture; every node is free to work both as a transmitter and receiver. Every single node can communicate freely with every other node which is in their communication range. Otherwise, it depends on neighboring nodes to relay messages. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be any medium such as cellular or satellite transmission. MANETs can work both as a host and a router. Since, there is no central infrastructure and nodes are free to move, the neighboring nodes help in data transmission that are not in the communication range. This can be achieved by dividing the MANETs into two types of networks i.e. single hop network and multihop network. In a single hop wireless network all the nodes communicate directly with every other node. In multi hop network, the neighboring nodes help in transmitting the data that are not its communication range, which is an added advantage to MANETs. Due to this wide distribution of MANETs makes it vulnerable o malicious attacks. For example, due to lack of protection, attackers can easily induce malicious nodes in the network. In particular, nodes in MANETs assumes every other node to be ignorant and behaves cooperatively with other nodes. This makes attackers to easily compromise other nodes to achieve attacks. Furthermore, because of decentralized architecture of MANETs, a centralized detecting technique is no longer appropriate. Hence it is necessary to implement a detection system especially for MANETs. • 32. The Origin Of Inequality In Society Inequality is the result of the formation of a society. In the treatise, Discourse on the Origin of Inequality, Rousseau analyzes the important factors that develop inequality through human s natural instincts in a society. A society is a group of individuals who leave the state of nature to achieve a common goal under the rule of a higher power. In this case, society s common goal is to advance from their primitive state of nature to preserve their property. Throughout society s creation, self preservation, natural talents, and jealousybecome important influences on the development of inequality. Self preservation is one of the many elements that kindle inequality. According to Rousseau, mans first concern was that of his preservation (Rousseau 44), therefore self preservation exists in the state of nature before the establishment of society. Over time, the exercise of self preservation eventually leads to the creation of society, which results in the creation of inequality. For instance, Rousseau claims, The first person who, having enclosed a plot of land, took it into his head to say this is mine and found people simple enough to believe him, was the true founder of civil society. (44) This act of self preservation fabricates society and consequently, steers men to the evolving of inequality. Property determines wealth which establishes a social hierarchy, therefore creating a system of inequality. The level of equalitybegins to shift when men preserve what belongs to him, [(the man who claims the land)], without explaining what they mean by belonging. (17) Men start to transfer authority over to whom they believe is stronger , while the weaker men are under the rule of the magistrate. This new idea of regulation and superiority is what constructs the beginning of inequality. Men are naturally selfish and care largely about their own private interests. For instance, Rousseau says, ... if a hare happened to pass within reach of [a man], no doubt he would have pursued his prey, he cared very little about causing his companions to miss theirs. (47). This act of greed gives up the opportunity for another man to obtain the hare, and it is therefore a cause for inequality. Furthermore, The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One can never fully achieve the ultimate goal of becoming personally and socially responsible as it s always expanding. It is important for a teacher to put aside personal goals and achievements to focus on the students. The students well being and personal growth must be the focal point. Along with these important core values TPSR is structured around a five level system. The first two level are considered a beginner level of TPSR and touch on respect and effort. Within the begining levels a student will begin to understand the role expectations placed upon him or her in the classroom. This includes peaceful and respectful participation in every activity with a maximum effort and a positive attitude. The third and fourth level to TPSR involve self direction and helping. This involves going above and beyond the set lessonand setting goals for yourself while showing positive leadership within the community. The birth of the camera phone happened on June 11th, 1997 when Phillippe Kahn used to a cell phone to send a picture of his newborn daughter to more than 2,000 people around the world. There was no proper device known as a camera phone before this, so Kahn hacked together a digital camera and a cell phone in order to send the photos in real time. Kahn later began LightSurf, a company that was hugely influential in picture messaging. LightSurf technology is still being used by Sprint, Verizon, and many other major carriers around the world. Nott reached for his phone and began filming the aftermath of what he had just witnessed and then uploaded his perspective on what had just happened through the CNN iReport App, along with hundreds of other CNN iReporters. • 40. Apple Computer vs Microsoft Introduction: It seems that the competition that has been brewing between Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL) and Microsoft Corp. (NASDAQ: MSFT) has never really died down from the late 1970s, even as both companies have had ups and downs in the stock market and in the consumer products market as well. Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple Computer sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual graphical user interface (GUI) elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and Macintosh operating systems. Some critics claimed that Apple was really attempting to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop metaphor for computer interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance and for the first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as an audio visual work instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this case there is also the unusual, added complexity of a license that arguably covers some or most of the allegedly infringing works. The district court therefore had to cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of looking at the case at the end of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of ,Apple s GUIs, whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically pleasing way, follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which recognizes that works cannot be substantially similar where analytic dissection demonstrates that similarities in expression are either authorized, or arise from the use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions. Therefore they hold: (1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make certain derivative works, the district court properly started with the license to determine what Microsoft was permitted to copy. She was a great student and was always willing to learn but the education she desired was not available in Poland so when her sister, Bronya, went to Paris, Marie followed. Marie went to school in Paris to get a teaching diploma in mathematics and physics and then to return to Poland. She didn t live with her sister and new brother in law because she liked the freedom she had in an apartment of her own. After a lot of research she came to the conclusion that radiation did not depend on the compound being studied. She said that it depended on the amount of uranium or thorium. She concluded that radiation did not depend on the arrangement of atoms in a compound in a molecule but rather the interior of the atom itself. The discovery was considered to be revolutionary at the time. She continued to test all elements on the Periodic Table of Elements. Only uranium and thorium gave off any sort of radiation. Her next experiment was quite simple. She wanted to test natural ores that contain uranium or thorium. She gathered samples from geological museums and found that pitchblende was four to five times active with small amounts of uranium. Pitchblende is a form of the mineral uraninite occurring in brown or black pitch like masses. Her brand new hypothesis was that a new element that was considerably more active than uranium was preset in small amounts of ore. Pierre gave up his research of crystals which he was heavily dedicated to join Marie in her scientific studies. They both found that strong reactions came from test samples containing bismuth or barium. Following up on bismuth, Marie discovered that every time she took away an amount of bismuth, a residue with greater activity was left behind. By 1898, the substance was 300 times the strength of ... The harmonious tones in the background are formatted perfectly to comply with technical languid tones, to ensure his audience focuses on the lyrical message, by not unnecessarily amplifying it with the backbeats and support sounds itself. Counter Reform Of The Roman Catholic Church Counter Reform of the Roman Catholic Church The reading this week covered a pretty expansive timeline, starting in 1534 with the founding of the Society of Jesus, the Jesuits, through the issuance of both The Doctrine of Papal Infallibility, established in 1870, and The Doctrine of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, in 1950. Not to leave out one of the most significant happenings in Christian History, the eighteen years of The Council of Trent, we covered a span of more than 400 years of Church History. There were primarily two things that stood out for me. One being the absence of any presentation or even mention of the incredibly voice of the Church Magisterium condemning racial slavery throughout this time, especially in perspective to the challenged authority of the Roman Pontiff and the doctrinal teaching of papal infallibility and the second being the incredible amount of time that passed before the Roman Catholic Church responded to the disputes and claims of the now excommunicated Martin Luther and the growing Protestant movement. From 1435 to 1890, there were numerous bulls and encyclicals from several popes, condemning what they saw as a different slavery and the slave trade. (Panzer) It was apparent that the chattel slavery being witnessed at this time was different from the slavery mentioned biblically and practiced historically. Singer, Martin, and Kelner studied 126 patients on dialysis, diagnosed with AIDS, or residents of long term care facilities, to determine their views on end of life issues. Their results identified five domains of quality care at the end of life. These were adequate pain and symptom management, avoiding inappropriate prolongation of dying, achieving a sense of control, relieving burden, and strengthening relationships with loved ones (p. 163, 1999). The participants expressed fear of lingering or kept alive when they could no longer enjoy their lives. Many stated that they would not wish to go on life support if they were not going to improve or have a chance to live a normal life again. Several mentioned that being placed on life support was the same as being a guinea pig. There were conflicting reports on the choice of dying at home or in a hospital. Some wanted to be at home, but others felt that was a burden on the family (Singer, Martin, Kelner, 1999).
