What Were the Causes and Concequences of the Spanish Civil...
What were the causes and consequences of the Spanish civil war?
The Spanish Civil War had been majorly caused by a series of long term events and short term events
which had contributed to its outbreak in July 17th, 1936. The consequences of the Spanish Civil War
may be divided in terms of its effect on Spain and its effect upon the rest of the world. Paul Preston
argues that the war had been influenced by a series of events, which had built up until the final
eruption of the war in 1936. Preston argues that the social tension in Spain during the 19th and early
20th century had contributed to the outbreak of the war. The differences between the Socialists,
Nationalists, Anarchists and the Republicans had created a very tense atmosphere ... Show more

On the 17th and 18th of July the plotting generals seized garrisons in Morocco and Las Palmas. The
civil war had now begun.
The Spanish Civil War had led to terrible consequences for the Spanish people. Historians are in
agreement that foreign contemporaries often misunderstood the civil war as a battle between
democracy ad fascism, when in reality; it had been a complex chapter in Spain’s history. The
social consequences for Spain had been atrocious. The civil war had led to 325,000 deaths overall. At
the end of the war almost half a million Spaniards were forced into exile. Spain also lost come of its
greatest political leaders as Azana and Largo and some of its most symbolic and beautiful voices â€
Lorca. Furthermore, the war had brought terror to the Spanish people. For example, in Malaga, the
terror had been inflicted on the Spanish people by their own people. Although arguable, the Condor
Legion of Germany had committed the greatest acts of terror in 1939. The Condor Legion bombed the
Basque town of Guernica on the 26th of April 1937. The bombing raid took place for three and a half
hours, without any pauses, and left the town completely destroyed. For Spain the effects of the terror
was to strengthen the position of the nationalists. Franco had leant from his days in Africa that loyalty
can be installed without fear.
Politically, Spanish society was polarized by the war. The war resulted in a nationalist

Essay On Social Construction Of Race
Society plays a major role in classifying people race, ethnicity, and social treatment. The definition of
race can be put into two categories biological and sociological factors. Race is an ideology that people
use to describe the physical and genetic makeup of an individual. A person racial construction greatly
impacts an individual s identity. This is look as the person skin color, facial bone structure, eyes, and
hair color. Although, there is no basis confirm these ideas, race has been used to determine a person s
health and character. In terms of the sociological factors that defines race is ethnicity. It is the cultural
aspect of a group of people this include their values, traditions, and position in society. The public
laws and policies is what determines an individual s standing in society. The biological and social
factors both work equally to define race.
According to the Power of Illusion documentary the highest ranking in the hierarchy were Nordic and
Mediterranean white people. Whiteness meant being an American and the common man could see it.
The lower ranking and inferior races were immigrants eastern and southern Europe, Jews, ... Show

Essay On Resistance To Change
Resistance to Change: Overcoming Individual and Structural Barriers to Change Trident University
International Module 5: SLP BUS503: Organizational Change and Transformation Dr. Drummond
McNaughton March 7, 2013 Overcoming Resistance to Change in the U.S. Army Introduction One of
the harsh realities of all organizations is the need for change. Although change is inevitable, many
organizations fail to make the transition successfully because of strong employee resistance to change.
Indeed, many people fear and resist change and some will even actively sabotage change initiatives
unless the change is managed effectively. Moreover, these issues become especially significant when
the organization in question is the U.S. Army, which is tasked with protecting the nation s security and
interests at home and abroad. Because the U.S. Army must remain mission ready at all times, there is
no room for resistance to change when it occurs and leaders at all levels must ensure that the change
process goes smoothly and efficiently. This paper presents a plan to address anticipated and/or actual
individual and structural barriers to the U.S. Army s change process, followed by a summary of the
research and important findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion Just as many people go
through several stages of grieving and acceptance in response to a loss in their lives, many people also
to change in a stage fashion, moving from initial outright denial that change will happen to

The period form 1774 to mid 1777 was spent in Salzburg where he worked as a Konzertmeister at the
Prince Archbishop s court. He wrote many of his works during this time. Seeing limited opportunity in
Salzburg, he left with his mother to Munich and Mannheim. No post was offered here either. His
father then sent him to Paris with minor success only with his Paris Symphony no.31, deftly designed
for the local taste. So, Wolfgang returned home alone. His mother had died in Paris. The years 1779
80 were spent in Salzburg playing in a cathedral and at court. He finally landed his big break when he
wrote the Opera Idomeneo as a commission for Munich ( Mozart Grove ) Though there was conflict
between him, his employer, and the Archbishop. So in May 1781 he resigned or was kicked out of his
job. Wolfgang continued made a living as part time teacher, composer, and performer for various
events. He married Constanze Weber in 1782. Also in 1782 and the following few years, Wolfgang
wrote six string quartets all dedicated to the master of the form, Hayden. Hayden once told Mozart s

what is more, the greatest knowledge of composition ( Mozart Grove ). He wrote 15 piano concertos

Antoine Henri Jomini
The eighteenth and nineteenth centuries were turbulent eras generating several changes in the way
how commanders led the war. The world owes a debt to one man for interpreting and recording his
contributions to strategy and the art of war: Antoine Henri Jomini. The purpose of this paper to
explain why the Jomini s theories are a school of thoughts that remain adequate for explaining warfare
in the modern era. The importance of logistics, the acceptance of principles of war, and the concept of
the geometry of battlespace proposed by Jomini s theories are three broad concepts that are still
adequate for explaining in the modern era. Incorporating the logistics in the planning process is a key
task to achieve important military outcomes. Clausewitz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mallick argues that The Principles of War are the principles expressing the rules of military thought
and actions that serve as the permanent basis for combat doctrine. Ettrich mentioned that to have a
better understanding of how Jomini developed his principles of war creating a set of thoughts that
have remained relatively unaltered for approximately two centuries, it is necessary to study his life, his
intense studies of war, military career, and the circumstances that shaped his tactical and strategic
thinking. Jomini as the same way of other military philosophers, tried to articulate his insights about
of the art of war presenting his ideas through a list of maxims or as a list of general truths whose
application contributes to success in war, they may be legitimately viewed, as the prototype of the
modern principles of war . Jomini s maxims are the closest thought to the modern principles of war.
Without considering the fact that Jomini never defined his concepts like general principles of war, nor
did he provided precise details of the fundamental principles he wrote, these have been adopted for
many armies in the world. In chapter six of Peter Paret s Makers of Modern Strategy: From
Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age, John Shy mentioned that many of the nineteenth centuries military
leaders accepted Jomini s maxims as valid principles. Ettrich recalls that historically, the Jomini s
concepts of principles of war were introduced to the United States in 1817 and were used initially at
the US Military Academy; these principles are still valid in the US Army doctrine. Weigley argues that
during the United States Civil War, military leaders from both sides embraced concepts and principles
learned while studying as contemporaries at the Military Academy prior to the rise and secession of
the Confederacy ; as a result, Union and Confederates leaders achieved

Narrative Essay About Being Jewish
Insert Title Sometimes I wonder what it s like not to know. Not to know that you have something in
common with only 15 million other people around the globe. Not to know that no matter what you do,
you re different. Not to know that people want to kill you for what you believe. Well, now I know
what it s like. What it s like to be Jewish. My story begins a day before it happened. In hindsight, I
remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with rolling mountains of white. Birds
chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. However, off in the distance, the white turned to grayish
black and the sky, rather than the serene feeling around Temple B nai Jehudah, was eerie. In hindsight,
this was an omen of things to come. But at the moment, I wasn t worried about any of that. I was just
worried about getting to my youth group on time. Ben! Hurry up! My agitated mother called to me as
I hurried to unfasten my seatbelt and gather my crumpled, haphazard Hebrew folder. I stumbled out of
the car and hurried into the temple s open glass doors. My class was about to begin, and the other fifth
graders looked at me quizzically as I hurried in. After that, everything was normal. That ... Show more

continue as normal and not act scared; it wasn t just for our sake, but the kids as well. I didn t feel an
ounce of fear, not then, not after when I learned there was a shooter targeting our synagogue and when
he was apprehended, he wasn t fifteen minutes away from us. They say hindsight is twenty twenty. I

Support Group Reflection
Translating What I learned In the grief support group I co lead with a Licensed Professional Clinical
Counselor (LPCC) and supervised by a Master of Social Work I learned how to facilitate a meeting.
The LPCC taught me the person centered approach and the social worker taught me to monitor client s
progression of goals. She allowed me to take lead, to link members together by similarities they share,
and to give members homework. The LPCC believed in self disclosure, she demonstrated this for me
in a fantastic manner the social worker I was with did as well. Teaching me that it is great to self
disclose when appropriate and when it will benefit the progression of the group or for them to feel
comfortable trusting the leader. In my group sessions I did not deem self disclosure appropriate to use.
How I will translate this is to be aware of my clients, to ask them what goals they hope to achieve, and
for them to keep journals of progress. I will create a safe atmosphere for clients to speak, provide
affirmation, and help clients set and maintain goals.
Evolution of Grief Support Group The grief support group I co led was an open group. This led to
introductions and a small orientation at the beginning of each session to create a positive tone for the
group. The other leader led this introduction for the first few sessions and asked me to observe, study,
and determine how I would like to convey an introductory message and the ground rules for the next
sessions. This

Teenage Pregnancy Is A Large Concern Throughout The World
Teen pregnancy is a large concern throughout the world. This is especially true in the United States
(US). In the U.S. teenage pregnancy affects 750,000 girls annually. (Silvers, 2014) According to Kate
Blackman, 1 in 4 teens get pregnant before the age of twenty and 1 in 5 teen moms will have a second
child by the age of twenty. (2015) Social media shows many aspects about teenage pregnancy and
parenthood. Because of this many young adults get to see the reality behind this subject. Even though
on the surface of a magazine cover or on the internet it may seem like teenage pregnancy is
glamorized in social media, this is not the case. There are many ways that the media truly shows the
struggles of being a teen mother. Since magazines are meant to entertain they will not show this but
almost all other social media areas will. This helps make a statement about it. Social media helps to
deglamorize and prevent teenage pregnancy.
Research has shown that social media is a large factor in the reduction of teenage pregnancy. Social
media reduces the amount of face to face interaction between young adults which results in less
opportunities for sexual activity. Between 2013 and 2014 teenage pregnancy rates dropped by
approximately 6.8% (Bennett, 2016). This evolution of social media caused this. It has changed how
young people interact and communicate with each other. Clare Murphy states that the media is often
portrayed as paving the way for risky behaviour. She continues by

The Arguments Against School Uniforms By Michelle Kouzmine
I hate my uniform! is what every child who is required to wear a uniform would say. What students
don t realize is that there are more pros than cons when it comes to uniforms. Uniforms discipline
students to be more respectful as well as obedient. I believe that uniforms provide students with a
sense of pride, security and focus. In The Arguments Against School Uniforms by Michelle Kouzmine
it states that some people believe school uniforms lower distraction, improve focus, and make the
environment more serious. This is especially true when uniforms are strict and require every student to
follow a school s uniform policy otherwise punishments are issued. Uniforms also prevent social
arguments and statuses. Some schools that don t issue ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though self expression may seem good, it can lead to bullying and other social arguments. In the
article What s the point of school uniform by Chloe Spencer, it states that students argue that they lose
their self identity and right to express themselves due to uniforms. Many schools have different
cliques and the root cause of them is self expression. When students express themselves through
clothing, they can be picked on by other students. However, if everyone was dressed in the same type
of clothing, stereotyping would be a difficult task. Non uniform clothing can make students aware of
ones social and economic status. This leads to bullying which can include mental and physical harm.
In the article What s the point of school uniform by Chloe Spencer, it states that nearly 160,000
students miss school every day due to the fear that they will be attacked or be intimidated by other
students. This can be prevented solely by enforcing uniforms in all schools. Not only will uniforms
prevent bullying but will stop the stress of social statuses for

Born Free Themes
In the movie Born Free, Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers play conservationists Joy and George
Adamson, who become the surrogate parents of three lion cubs, later giving two to a zoo and keeping
Elsa, the smallest of the bunch. As their time with the lioness continues, they are given orders to return
her to the wild, where they realize they must return her to her roots among the African Savannah,
touching on the theme of nature and the true meaning of freedom. Elsa s legacy within this film is her
role as an ambassador like role in being a bridge between mankind and nature in helping understand
the limit in humanity s ability to survive alongside the wild.
Like humans, animals are capable of emotion. Many people fear creatures like Elsa because they are
mainly known for their instinctual and predatorial nature. In the film, John Kendall, George s boss and
presumably experienced in wildlife like lions, is fearful of Elsa despite her easygoing and merry
attitude with the Adamsons. His position somewhat makes this ironic, as one would not normally fear
what they are trying to protect and take care of. Elsa portrays a wide range of emotions that people
would usually think she would be unable to comprehend. Elsa expresses sorrow when Joy leaves for
town and as she waits for her to come back home, and then elation in Joy s return. Lions and most
animals have different ways of communicating their needs and emotions. Humans tend to attribute
human interactions to animals actions,

The Labeling Of Genetically Engineered Crops
Introduction: In an immense variation of ways, farmers grow their crops and keep them healthy and
ready for distribution. The need for a greater variety of healthy and resistant crop is consistently rising
as populations continue to increase around the world. Yet, agricultural food scientists have
manipulated the DNA structure of countless foods. One main concern for consumers is the use of
GMOs, genetically engineered crops. However, GMOs are very hard to find when manufacturers
claim to not have them in their products and also not completely healthy. To provide information to
customers, labeling requirements have been set up in many countries to aid international trade. In this
experiment we will test different foods to find traces of GMO including one that claims to not contain
GMOs. We hypothesize that the lettuce sample would not contain any GMO genes.
Material and Methods:
DNA extraction of samples for PCR.
Three samples were prepared: Soy bean with GMO, Soy bean without GMO, Lettuce, and Chex®
cereal. The food samples were crushed into a powder and separated. Next, 100 µl of Edwards buffer
was added to samples. For another minute, the food was then grounded. Then, 900 µl of Edwards s
buffer was then added to each sample and vortex. The samples were then boiled for 5 minutes and
centrifuged for 2 minutes. Next 350 µ of each supernatant was transferred to fresh tubes. 400 µl of
isopropanol was then added to the supernatant samples. The solutions were then inversed

In the photomontage Der Kunstkritiker or The Art Critic (1919 20) Raoul Hausmann distorts and

Hausmann was an Austrian artist who adhered to strict expressionistic styles until introduced to
Dadaism, an unrealistic artistic and literary movement of many different mediums occurring from
1916 to 1924. Hausmann became one of the founding members of Dada in Berlin; a style which

Discuss family culture and its effect on patient education.
The role and definition of family can vary from one culture to another. Generally speaking, the culture
in the United States places a lot of emphasis on individuality and personal freedom. In many cultures,
the family unit has a very strict and defined hierarchy. Often the Father is seen as the head of the
household and is responsible for much of the decision making. This can include decisions concerning
the health care of a family member. It could also result in reluctance for the head of the family to place
himself in a position of relying on others for care, a perceived position of weakness. In many cultures,
the family goes beyond the nuclear family, and extends to the community, friends and neighbors.
These are strongly held beliefs, and we must refrain from judging them as right or wrong based on our

Hemispheric Dominance And Handedness Essay
The link between handedness and hemispheric dominance is based on the simple logic that one s
preferred hand must mean that the hemisphere controlling this hand is also preferred. This means that
right side of the brain is dominant in left handers while the left side of the brain is dominant in right
handers, since the brain works contra laterally (meaning that the left side of the brain is responsible for
the right side of the body and reversed). In most people the verbal processing (assumed to be more
linear and sequential) is located on the left side of the brain, and the non verbal processing (thought to
be more holistic and random) on the right side of the brain. As we saw before the definition of
handedness is not that simple, there are varying degrees of handedness, and the same is true for the
lateralization of the brain. Furthermore, not everyone has this traditional organization of the brain, a
small percentage of people have a reversed organization of the structures in their respective
hemispheres (from this small percentage the majority is left handed). ... Show more content on

There are many factors and varying degrees of lateralization involved in determining hemispheric
dominance as well as handedness. Handedness for example, is influenced by genetics, learning and
chance (hormone levels and conditions during pregnancy are also thought to have an influence) . The
factors determining hemispheric dominance could be similar to those determining handedness but this
does not always have to be the case. Similarly, it is hard to isolate one single factor and see if it is truly
important in determining dominance or not. We can therefore say that it is better to use The Wada test
or brain scans over handedness as an indicator of hemispheric

The Graphic Memoir Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
It did not take me very long to get through the graphic memoir, Persepolis not only because it is a sort
of comic book, but because I could not put it down. I chose to read the interview between Robert Root
and Marjane Satrapi instead of the TED talk because I love the raw dialogue between the two.
Through this interview, Satrapi s strong independence and blunt words ring through loud and clear just
as her character in Persepolis. I find her honesty very refreshing, I have always said, even verbally,
orally, that I was nasty. I am very much a fan of imperfection, actually. This idea of perfection I think
really, it s the beginning of the fascism, this idea of perfection . The woman being interview is very
much the young girl that hit her principal then said, oopsy, I didn t mean it!
I can honestly say, that this graphic memoir opened my eyes to the female perspective in Iran during
the time of the Shah to the revolution and beyond. Before reading Persepolis, I had a single worldview
of the Middle East. I thought that women would be treated the same way in most countries as unequal
to a man as it can get. I pictured women unable to have respectable jobs and never being able to show
much more skin than their hands and face. When Satrapi says, The basic culture is not that the woman
is nothing Iran is not Saudi Arabia the women, they are educated, they are cultivated, they work. You
have women that are judges, they are doctors, they are journalists, they work.

The Power Of Rhetoric In Shakespeare s The Clouds
Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of
speech and other compositional techniques. (Webster s) The art of oratory reached the height of its
popularity in fifth century Athens, largely due to men like Socrates, Demosthenes and Plato that
perfected this style of speaking and transformed it into an artform. Aristophanes, an Ancient Athenian
playwright s, The Clouds is one of the best examples of how this artform changed the culture of
Ancient Athens, which, in turn, helped to shape thinking in the Western world. From that point until
present day, the art of speaking in a convincing manner (also known as rhetoric), has been a highly
prized and sought after ability. In William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure and Aristophanes The
Clouds, the characters place great importance on the skill of rhetoric. Perfecting this art insures the
characters that they will be convincing in their argument, thereby, also gaining or diminishing their
honor as well as the honor of the other characters.
One of the most prominent examples of the power of rhetoric within Greek society comes from
Aristophanes The Clouds. This play features a hardworking, traditional, but simple father, named,
Strepsiades, who tries to convince his lazy, modern, but quick witted son, Pheidippides to be more like
his hardworking, conservative father. Unfortunately for Strepsiades, Pheidippides used his father s
money for his gambling habit, so the

The American Revolution Research Paper
The American Revolution
The American Revolution was a political separation between Britain and the original Thirteen
Colonies. It occurred between the years 1765 and 1783, resulting in a lot of bloodshed and casualties.
With tension building between the two powers, the revolution was a battle that formed what America
is today. The Boston Tea Party, the Boston Massacre, and the many taxes imposed are factors to what
lead the colonists to form together and fight Britain. The reason why America won against its former
owner is because of the alliance with France, the knowledge of the terrain, and the determination that
the soldiers had. The colonies were furious and tense, boycotts and riots filled the streets in the year of
1765. The new act, which put ridiculous amounts of taxes on common household necessities such as
tea, left the colonists broke and turning the cold shoulder to Great Britain. The years progressively got
worse, seen on a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the colonists rebelled against Parliament s decisions of passing new laws, they were angered
by the creation of the Tea Act, and rebelled by dumping 18,000 pounds of tea into the Boston Harbor,
which was known as the Boston Tea Party. The colonists were determined to get their independance
from Great Britain, so after the battles of Lexington and Concord, the Second Continental Congress
met to decide what was to be done next. For example, Americans had a grand cause: fighting for their
rights, their independence and their liberty (American and British Strengths and Weaknesses). This
shows that the colonists were not just fighting to win, they were fighting for their freedom, their
rights, and their independance from Great Britain. Most of the American military were civilians that

Walmart Smart Inventory System Essay

Wal Mart S.M.A.R.T System
I live close to a walmart in Burtonsville MD, so I decided to write this Paper on their Inventory
System. Wal mart, the wholesale retail monopoly, focused on developing an RFID based electronic
product code, or EPC. The electronic code would allow businesses to track shipments and inventory
automatically through a system of tags and sensors. It was a potential replacement for the manual
scanning of bar codes, a technology that itself revolutionized retail two decades earlier. Given the
nearly non existent cost of bar codes relative to RFID, several in the industry said, the EPC was a
solution in search of a problem. Wal Mart view RFID technology in their SMART system as a ...

With the Telxon, price changes for each item can be implemented only three times a day with the
current system and processes. Wal Mart is testing LCD shelf tags from NCR that are powered and
controlled by infrared light units on the ceiling and can be changed in real time, concurrent with
changes at the point of sale registers.
The Strengths of The SMART Inventory System are, the actual database has to be enormous. There
are so many products that the Wal Mart keeps track of. All of which must be in the same database
because products they don t carry will still scan and give all the detailed information of those
Products. This is helpful because it allows people to return products from a Mega Wal Mart that
carries a much larger stock than a regular Wal Mart. Other Strengths are that the SMART system is
linked to the cash registers. When a product is sold, inventory is updated automatically. On hand
counts are updated and on some products they are reordered automatically, depending on how many
are left. With in addition to the RFID technology.
Wal mart uses smart tag sensors on garments to track better inventory controls, Wal Mart workers will
be able to quickly learn, which size of a particular brand product is missing, with the aim of ensuring
shelves are optimally stocked and inventory

Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken
The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature with
each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational poem, line
by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal path in the journey
of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect setting for the theme of self
discovery laid out and described by the speaker.
Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for
almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with
whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if he
had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost sent
the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with me??
(http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the poem was
having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no path and leave
a trail.
The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads
diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that the
speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and consequences he
must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how difficult it is to make a
choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the other road and what he
could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows how the speaker would like to
be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a long time to decide on what he should
do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option, looking as far into the future as he possibly
could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.?
The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the
opening line of this

Fate In The Crucible
A Twisted Fate
Prompt: A work of literature cannot be regarded as successful unless at its end the main character
meets a fate that seems to be the natural result of what he has done or shown himself to be. Show how
this statement is true in The Crucible.
Every dramatic play has a tragic hero with a twisted fate. John Proctor is the hero of a play called The
Crucible by Arthur Miller. John is a decent man who lives with his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, in Salem,
Massachusetts during the 17th century. Miller writes based on the popular interests of the people
during the 17th century and characterizes John as a persistent man who has pride in who he is. He also

and Abigail is successful in making herself seem as though she is the victim of her own deeds. After

confessed it! (Miller 113). The importance of John s words is that they reveal one a cause of his
downfall having faith in Elizabeth not lying about his sin in front of the judges. This line is also
prominent because it helps the reader predict John s fate. Since the immorality of adultery is evident
when John is asked to list the Ten Commandments, one can infer that he will most likely be sentenced
to a harsh punishment after proving himself to be sinful in court. The scene in its entirety is intriguing
because it encompasses the climax of the

that was set aside to compensate victims did not go to people who were forcibly sterilized by county

Nile River Cycle Analysis
In Egypt, the Nile River creates a rich green valley across the desert. It was by the banks of the river
that one of the oldest civilizations in the world began. The ancient Egyptians lived and farmed along
the Nile, using the soil to produce food for themselves and their animals. Document A, a map of Egypt
around 1500 BCE, was founded by multiple sources and was created in order to illustrate how the
placement of the river was beneficial to the success of cities across Egypt. The creators of this map
had no bias because the structure of the document is strictly factual. The map demonstrates the areas
that are gray represent the fertile Nile Valley. The Nile Valley is spread across lower and upper Egypt,
from cities such as Buto to Abu Simbel. It is an important document because it clarifies how the river
was able to have a strong influence on the citizens of Egypt. This indicates that there was a vast
number of people that had to depend on the Nile as a freshwater source, even for tasks included in
their daily life.
Document B, a chart of The Nile River Flood Cycle, written by Katherine Hinds was written to
explain how the different seasons of Egypt were affected by the river s flood cycle. Hinds view on the
river s flood cycle may be influenced by the fact that she will unintentionally compare ancient Egypt s
different seasons to modern times, however, this bias is not evident in the text. The seasons mentioned
were Akhet, the flood season, Peret, the planting and growing season, and Shemu, the harvest season.
Akhet took place in mid June to mid October, and in these months the fields were subjected to
flooding, due to the surrounding river, which meant farmers were provided with more labor such as
canal repair. Peret came to pass in mid October to mid February where enough time has passed for the
water to subside and supply irrigation canals, in which crops were planted and sustained until Shemu,
which took place until the cycle resumed its place in Akhet, where they were then harvested and sold
in the market. The document s intent was to express how the different seasons were useful to everyday
life long ago. It is significant because it shows how people were employed and citizens were provided

The Business Model Conceived By Ceo Michael O Leary

emerging budget air carrier market, fluctuating fuel prices, and controversial customer relations.

Many air carriers were denied use of the air space in another country simply due to nations holding a
strong opposition to commercial air competition. In 1986, Ryanair obtained permission to service the
airline s second route running from Dublin, Ireland to London Luton and compete directly with British
Airways. This permission was given by each host nation that had begun a progressive movement
towards the liberalization of air travel between European Union (EU) nation states.
From 1987 to 1990 Ryanair opened an additional 17 Routes and begins to emulate jet travel into the
route structure. However, during this period Ryan air continued to emulate the standard business
model due to continued fare regulation as well as a lack of innovation. Deregulation of air travel with
European Union members had not yet taken full effect, and thus led to continued high operating costs
and losses for Ryanair. Ryanair eliminated the frequent flyers program as well as no longer offering
business class which caused a continued increase in passenger traffic but still had the airline operating
at a loss. In 1987, Michael O Leary was hired by Tony Ryan as a tax and personal finance director. O
Leary was soon tasked with aiding in the restructuring of Ryanair in an effort to return the airline s
profitability. O Leary is a believer of a low fare

Babysitter At Rest Psychology
The term male gaze coined by Laura Mulvey in her essay Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema,
draws attention to the role of females in films where women are objectified for the male spectator.
Objectification Theory by Barbara Fredrickson and Tomi Ann Roberts agree that sexual gazing is what
enables sexual objectification. Jean George The Babysitter at Rest, explores the consequences one

Simone De Beauvoir And Frantz Fanon And The Oppression Of...
The majority dictates history, policy, science and general education. With the view of the minority so
firmly permeating society s mind, the voice of the minority falls to the wayside. Simone de Beauvoir,
Frantz Fanon, and Michel Foucault all seek to establish a voice for the minority, and a path to freedom
and liberation from the dominance of the normalized majority. In her work The Second Sex. De
Beauvoir tackles the oppression of women. While not a minority, women are written out of society by
a more dominant male society, and experience oppression like that felt by the minority. Like minority

Simone de Beauvoir defines the lived experience of women as one of otherness, and from this stems
the oppression of women. De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she states that
he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the subject and
the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are
only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of
the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to himself; she is
not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no basis for
understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men, there is no
way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely peripheral
beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man. De Beauvoir s
notion of liberation and freedom called on women to reclaim the category of womanhood to create an
autonomous and working woman who can break out of the master slave dynamic created by the

Improvements in Sports Medicine
A majority of all Americans have participated in at least one sport during their childhood and

Dermal Fillers Research Paper
What is a Dermal Filler
There are a number of factors which can impact your skin s appearance: sun exposure, hormonal
changes and aging all can play a part in your skin losing Hyaluronic acid and collagen. Once this starts
to happen your skin is more prone to fine lines, wrinkles and a loss of fullness and elasticity.
The good news is that Serene Radiance has a range of dermal fillers that can reverse these signs of
aging by filling in lines and restoring lost volume while enhancing your facial contours and lips for
natural looking results.
All our dermal fillers are Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based. Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring sugar
found in your body. When it combines with the water that exists in your skin it instantly smoothes
lines and wrinkles, restores lost volume in the cheeks and jaw line and can also enhance your lips.
Dermal fillers have also been shown to naturally stimulate collagen production in your skin. ... Show

Analysis of the Uncertainty Reduction theory on interpersonal communication
Through this paper I will conduct an analysis of the uncertainty reduction theory and will then apply it
to my own experience here in Colorado university.
This theory has been subject to many articles and studies in the communication and social
departments. Indeed, studying this theory can help us understanding human relations in interpersonal
communication. Each of us has been one day confronted to uncertainty, whereas in initial encounters,
or moving to a new a new place, or beginning a new work.
This theory is particularly important for me as I experienced high uncertainty when I first arrived here
in Colorado. When everything and everybody is unknown for ... Show more content on

Curiosity can be a real good motivator and if we can not predict the behavior of this person, we will
seek information in order to predict future behavior.
ü Anticipation: Basically, if you don´t think that you will be somebody again in the future , your
motivation to reduce uncertainty will decrease. You will have the impression to habe done all these
efforts for nothing.
As we can see, the theory of uncertainty reduction exlain us why we behave like we do in our relation
with others. But the theory of Berger has been subject to many studies. For example
, for Sunnafrank developed in his predicted outcome value theory that what motivates you to seek for
further information is the expected positive benefices you think to obtain. According to this theory
when, output value are seem to be positive for oneself, our motivation to seek information increases.
But in the contrary, if we expect negative outcome, we will decrease our motivation and in the worst
cass stop looking for information.in others words if somebody feels that a person can be rewarding to
him , he will look forward to get more information about him. His theory is similar to the high
incentive value condition of Berger.
Some scholars have noticed some problems with this theory . Sometimes information can actually
increase uncertainty rather than reduce it when the information is unexpected. Sometimes you learn
some information about a person that deceive you and make you seem them different. After that

The Spanish Civil War had led to terrible consequences for the Spanish people. Historians are in agreement that foreign contemporaries often misunderstood the civil war as a battle between democracy ad fascism, when in reality; it had been a complex chapter in Spain’s history. Spain also lost come of its greatest political leaders as Azana and Largo and some of its most symbolic and beautiful voices †Lorca. Furthermore, the war had brought terror to the Spanish people. For example, in Malaga, the terror had been inflicted on the Spanish people by their own people. Although arguable, the Condor Legion of Germany had committed the greatest acts of terror in 1939. The Condor Legion bombed the Basque town of Guernica on the 26th of April 1937. The bombing raid took place for three and a half hours, without any pauses, and left the town completely destroyed. Essay On Resistance To Change Resistance to Change: Overcoming Individual and Structural Barriers to Change Trident University International Module 5: SLP BUS503: Organizational Change and Transformation Dr. Drummond McNaughton March 7, 2013 Overcoming Resistance to Change in the U.S. Army Introduction One of the harsh realities of all organizations is the need for change. Although change is inevitable, many organizations fail to make the transition successfully because of strong employee resistance to change. Indeed, many people fear and resist change and some will even actively sabotage change initiatives unless the change is managed effectively. Moreover, these issues become especially significant when the organization in question is the U.S. Army, which is tasked with protecting the nation s security and interests at home and abroad. Because the U.S. Army must remain mission ready at all times, there is no room for resistance to change when it occurs and leaders at all levels must ensure that the change process goes smoothly and efficiently. This paper presents a plan to address anticipated and/or actual individual and structural barriers to the U.S. Army s change process, followed by a summary of the research and important findings in the conclusion. Review and Discussion Just as many people go through several stages of grieving and acceptance in response to a loss in their lives, many people also to change in a stage fashion, moving from initial outright denial that change will happen to ... The world owes a debt to one man for interpreting and recording his contributions to strategy and the art of war: Antoine Henri Jomini. The purpose of this paper to explain why the Jomini s theories are a school of thoughts that remain adequate for explaining warfare in the modern era. The importance of logistics, the acceptance of principles of war, and the concept of the geometry of battlespace proposed by Jomini s theories are three broad concepts that are still adequate for explaining in the modern era. Mallick argues that The Principles of War are the principles expressing the rules of military thought and actions that serve as the permanent basis for combat doctrine. Ettrich mentioned that to have a better understanding of how Jomini developed his principles of war creating a set of thoughts that have remained relatively unaltered for approximately two centuries, it is necessary to study his life, his intense studies of war, military career, and the circumstances that shaped his tactical and strategic thinking. Jomini as the same way of other military philosophers, tried to articulate his insights about of the art of war presenting his ideas through a list of maxims or as a list of general truths whose application contributes to success in war, they may be legitimately viewed, as the prototype of the modern principles of war . Jomini s maxims are the closest thought to the modern principles of war. Without considering the fact that Jomini never defined his concepts like general principles of war, nor did he provided precise details of the fundamental principles he wrote, these have been adopted for many armies in the world. In chapter six of Peter Paret s Makers of Modern Strategy: From Machiavelli to the Nuclear Age, John Shy mentioned that many of the nineteenth centuries military leaders accepted Jomini s maxims as valid principles. Ettrich recalls that historically, the Jomini s concepts of principles of war were introduced to the United States in 1817 and were used initially at the US Military Academy; these principles are still valid in the US Army doctrine. Not to know that people want to kill you for what you believe. Well, now I know what it s like. What it s like to be Jewish. My story begins a day before it happened. In hindsight, I remember that day vividly. The baby blue sky was filled with rolling mountains of white. Birds chirped and butterflies flapped their wings. However, off in the distance, the white turned to grayish black and the sky, rather than the serene feeling around Temple B nai Jehudah, was eerie. In hindsight, this was an omen of things to come. But at the moment, I wasn t worried about any of that. I was just worried about getting to my youth group on time. Ben! Hurry up! My agitated mother called to me as I hurried to unfasten my seatbelt and gather my crumpled, haphazard Hebrew folder. I stumbled out of the car and hurried into the temple s open glass doors. In the U.S. teenage pregnancy affects 750,000 girls annually. (Silvers, 2014) According to Kate Blackman, 1 in 4 teens get pregnant before the age of twenty and 1 in 5 teen moms will have a second child by the age of twenty. (2015) Social media shows many aspects about teenage pregnancy and parenthood. Because of this many young adults get to see the reality behind this subject. Even though on the surface of a magazine cover or on the internet it may seem like teenage pregnancy is glamorized in social media, this is not the case. There are many ways that the media truly shows the struggles of being a teen mother. Since magazines are meant to entertain they will not show this but almost all other social media areas will. This helps make a statement about it. Social media helps to deglamorize and prevent teenage pregnancy. Research has shown that social media is a large factor in the reduction of teenage pregnancy. Social media reduces the amount of face to face interaction between young adults which results in less opportunities for sexual activity. Between 2013 and 2014 teenage pregnancy rates dropped by approximately 6.8% (Bennett, 2016). This evolution of social media caused this. Born Free Themes In the movie Born Free, Virginia McKenna and Bill Travers play conservationists Joy and George Adamson, who become the surrogate parents of three lion cubs, later giving two to a zoo and keeping Elsa, the smallest of the bunch. As their time with the lioness continues, they are given orders to return her to the wild, where they realize they must return her to her roots among the African Savannah, touching on the theme of nature and the true meaning of freedom. Elsa s legacy within this film is her role as an ambassador like role in being a bridge between mankind and nature in helping understand the limit in humanity s ability to survive alongside the wild. Like humans, animals are capable of emotion. Many people fear creatures like Elsa because they are mainly known for their instinctual and predatorial nature. In the film, John Kendall, George s boss and presumably experienced in wildlife like lions, is fearful of Elsa despite her easygoing and merry attitude with the Adamsons. His position somewhat makes this ironic, as one would not normally fear what they are trying to protect and take care of. However, GMOs are very hard to find when manufacturers claim to not have them in their products and also not completely healthy. To provide information to customers, labeling requirements have been set up in many countries to aid international trade. In this experiment we will test different foods to find traces of GMO including one that claims to not contain GMOs. We hypothesize that the lettuce sample would not contain any GMO genes. Material and Methods: DNA extraction of samples for PCR. Three samples were prepared: Soy bean with GMO, Soy bean without GMO, Lettuce, and Chex® cereal. • 20. Hemispheric Dominance And Handedness Essay The link between handedness and hemispheric dominance is based on the simple logic that one s preferred hand must mean that the hemisphere controlling this hand is also preferred. This means that right side of the brain is dominant in left handers while the left side of the brain is dominant in right handers, since the brain works contra laterally (meaning that the left side of the brain is responsible for the right side of the body and reversed). In most people the verbal processing (assumed to be more linear and sequential) is located on the left side of the brain, and the non verbal processing (thought to be more holistic and random) on the right side of the brain. As we saw before the definition of handedness is not that simple, there are varying degrees of handedness, and the same is true for the lateralization of the brain. Furthermore, not everyone has this traditional organization of the brain, a small percentage of people have a reversed organization of the structures in their respective hemispheres (from this small percentage the majority is left handed). ... The Power Of Rhetoric In Shakespeare s The Clouds Rhetoric is the art of effective or persuasive speaking or writing, especially the use of figures of speech and other compositional techniques. (Webster s) The art of oratory reached the height of its popularity in fifth century Athens, largely due to men like Socrates, Demosthenes and Plato that perfected this style of speaking and transformed it into an artform. Aristophanes, an Ancient Athenian playwright s, The Clouds is one of the best examples of how this artform changed the culture of Ancient Athens, which, in turn, helped to shape thinking in the Western world. From that point until present day, the art of speaking in a convincing manner (also known as rhetoric), has been a highly prized and sought after ability. In William Shakespeare s Measure for Measure and Aristophanes The Clouds, the characters place great importance on the skill of rhetoric. Perfecting this art insures the characters that they will be convincing in their argument, thereby, also gaining or diminishing their honor as well as the honor of the other characters. One of the most prominent examples of the power of rhetoric within Greek society comes from Aristophanes The Clouds. Wal mart, the wholesale retail monopoly, focused on developing an RFID based electronic product code, or EPC. The electronic code would allow businesses to track shipments and inventory automatically through a system of tags and sensors. It was a potential replacement for the manual scanning of bar codes, a technology that itself revolutionized retail two decades earlier. Given the nearly non existent cost of bar codes relative to RFID, several in the industry said, the EPC was a solution in search of a problem. Wal Mart view RFID technology in their SMART system as a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the Telxon, price changes for each item can be implemented only three times a day with the current system and processes. Wal Mart is testing LCD shelf tags from NCR that are powered and controlled by infrared light units on the ceiling and can be changed in real time, concurrent with changes at the point of sale registers. The Strengths of The SMART Inventory System are, the actual database has to be enormous. There are so many products that the Wal Mart keeps track of. All of which must be in the same database because products they don t carry will still scan and give all the detailed information of those Products. This is helpful because it allows people to return products from a Mega Wal Mart that carries a much larger stock than a regular Wal Mart. Other Strengths are that the SMART system is linked to the cash registers. When a product is sold, inventory is updated automatically. On hand counts are updated and on some products they are reordered automatically, depending on how many are left. With in addition to the RFID technology. Wal mart uses smart tag sensors on garments to track better inventory controls, Wal Mart workers will be able to quickly learn, which size of a particular brand product is missing, with the aim of ensuring shelves are optimally stocked and inventory ... • 27. Critical Analysis Of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken Critical Analysis of Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken The speaker in Robert Frost s The Road Not Taken gives the reader insight into human nature with each line of poetry. While, Frost had not originally intended for this to be an inspirational poem, line by line, the speaker is encouraging each reader to seek out his or her own personal path in the journey of life. Romanticizing the rural woods of New England creates the perfect setting for the theme of self discovery laid out and described by the speaker. Robert Frost s original intent in writing the poem was not to convey the inspiration that it has for almost a hundred years. He had written the poem to poke fun at his friend, Edward Thomas, with whom he had taken many walks. Thomas was hesitant and always wondering what would happen if he had chosen a different path (http://www.yoga.com/raw/readings/frost_road.html). In fact, Frost sent the poem to his friend, then in France, and got the response, ?What are you trying to do with me?? (http://www.libarts.sfasu.edu/Frost/PopPoems.html). However, Frost did see the impact the poem was having and stated, Do not follow where the path may lead?Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail. The speaker communicates many things in the first stanza of the poem. The first line, ?Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,? uses imagery with the color yellow, the color of gold, to show that the speaker sees an opportunity ahead of him. The two roads symbolizes the choices and consequences he must choose. The next line, ?And sorry I could not travel both,? illustrates how difficult it is to make a choice. It is impossible not to wonder what could happen by choosing the other road and what he could be missing out on. ?And being one traveler long I stood,? shows how the speaker would like to be in two places at once. Unable to accomplish this, he takes a long time to decide on what he should do. Finally, the speaker describes studying the first option, looking as far into the future as he possibly could with the lines, ?And looked down one as far as I could to where it bent in the undergrowth.? The speaker continues to convey his message in the second stanza of ?The Road Not Taken.? In the opening line of this ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fate In The Crucible A Twisted Fate Prompt: A work of literature cannot be regarded as successful unless at its end the main character meets a fate that seems to be the natural result of what he has done or shown himself to be. Show how this statement is true in The Crucible. Every dramatic play has a tragic hero with a twisted fate. John Proctor is the hero of a play called The Crucible by Arthur Miller. John is a decent man who lives with his wife, Elizabeth Proctor, in Salem, Massachusetts during the 17th century. The importance of John s words is that they reveal one a cause of his downfall having faith in Elizabeth not lying about his sin in front of the judges. This line is also prominent because it helps the reader predict John s fate. • 30. Nile River Cycle Analysis In Egypt, the Nile River creates a rich green valley across the desert. It was by the banks of the river that one of the oldest civilizations in the world began. The ancient Egyptians lived and farmed along the Nile, using the soil to produce food for themselves and their animals. Document A, a map of Egypt around 1500 BCE, was founded by multiple sources and was created in order to illustrate how the placement of the river was beneficial to the success of cities across Egypt. The creators of this map had no bias because the structure of the document is strictly factual. The map demonstrates the areas that are gray represent the fertile Nile Valley. The Nile Valley is spread across lower and upper Egypt, from cities such as Buto to Abu Simbel. It is an important document because it clarifies how the river was able to have a strong influence on the citizens of Egypt. This indicates that there was a vast number of people that had to depend on the Nile as a freshwater source, even for tasks included in their daily life. Document B, a chart of The Nile River Flood Cycle, written by Katherine Hinds was written to explain how the different seasons of Egypt were affected by the river s flood cycle. Hinds view on the river s flood cycle may be influenced by the fact that she will unintentionally compare ancient Egypt s different seasons to modern times, however, this bias is not evident in the text. The seasons mentioned were Akhet, the flood season, Peret, the planting and growing season, and Shemu, the harvest season. Akhet took place in mid June to mid October, and in these months the fields were subjected to flooding, due to the surrounding river, which meant farmers were provided with more labor such as canal repair. Peret came to pass in mid October to mid February where enough time has passed for the water to subside and supply irrigation canals, in which crops were planted and sustained until Shemu, which took place until the cycle resumed its place in Akhet, where they were then harvested and sold in the market. The document s intent was to express how the different seasons were useful to everyday life long ago. It is significant because it shows how people were employed and citizens were provided with ... De Beauvoir explains the lived experiences of women when she states that he is the Subject; he is the Absolute. She is the other. The man constitutes himself at the subject and the absolute, both descriptors place complete emphasis and importance on the man, the women are only relevant in their existence as the other. Since women are presently regulated to the category of the other, humanity is male, and man defines women, not in herself, but in relation to himself; she is not considered an autonomous being. Without a form of autonomy women have no basis for understanding themselves as women. If women must identify themselves through men, there is no way to escape a society in which men are the center of society and women are merely peripheral beings that conflate themselves to the wills and wishes of the more relevant man.
