LAND USE LAND COVER AND NDVI OF MIRZAPUR DISTRICT, UPRAHUL
This Dissertation explores the particular circumstances of Mirzapur, a region located in the
core of India. Mirzapur, with its varied terrains and abundant biodiversity, offers an optimal
environment for investigating the changes in vegetation cover dynamics. Our study utilizes
advanced technologies such as GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and Remote sensing to
analyze the transformations that have taken place over the course of a decade.
The complex relationship between human activities and the environment has been the focus
of extensive research and worry. As the global community grapples with swift urbanization,
population expansion, and economic progress, the effects on natural ecosystems are becoming
more evident. A crucial element of this impact is the alteration of vegetation cover, which plays a
significant role in maintaining the ecological equilibrium of our planet.Land serves as the foundation for all human activities and provides the necessary materials for
these activities. As the most crucial natural resource, its utilization by humans results in different
'Land uses,' which are determined by both human activities and the physical characteristics of the
land.
The utilization of land is impacted by human needs and environmental factors. In countries
like India, rapid population growth and the emphasis on extensive resource exploitation can lead
to significant land degradation, adversely affecting the region's land cover.
Therefore, human intervention has significantly influenced land use patterns over many
centuries, evolving its structure over time and space. In the present era, these changes have
accelerated due to factors such as agriculture and urbanization. Information regarding land use and
cover is essential for various planning and management tasks related to the Earth's surface,
providing crucial environmental data for scientific, resource management, policy purposes, and
diverse human activities.
Accurate understanding of land use and cover is imperative for the development planning
of any area. Consequently, a wide range of professionals, including earth system scientists, land
and water managers, and urban planners, are interested in obtaining data on land use and cover
changes, conversion trends, and other related patterns. The spatial dimensions of land use and
cover support policymakers and scientists in making well-informed decisions, as alterations in
these patterns indicate shifts in economic and social conditions. Monitoring such changes with the
help of Advanced technologies like Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems is
crucial for coordinated efforts across different administrative levels. Advanced technologies like
Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems

Changes in vegetation cover refer to variations in the distribution, composition, and overall
structure of plant communities across different temporal and spatial scales. These changes can

2. Technological Change Class
When people hear the word technology, all they think about is computers, tablets, televisions,
phones, or the internet. That is what I thought before taking society and technological change
class, and my views changed after learning some information about technology. At first, I only
took the course because it was the only class left in order for me to be a full time student. The
first day of class was so boring I just wanted to drop out, but as time went on, I started to like the
class. According to The Society and Technological Change book, it gives the definition of
technologywhich is a system created by humans that use knowledge and organization to produce
objects and techniques for the attainment of specific goals (Volti). Technology

apps. Spending time with my family is so special to me and sometimes I do not enjoy it because
I will be on my phone doing pointless things instead of making memorizes with my family. I love
my phone and my other electric devices, I just use them so much. But overall I enjoyed taking
this class and I will miss it. It was my favorite class because the teacher taught it different and I
like the way he explained the information in order for us to understand. I have been telling my
friends to take this class because it is really helpful to know the history about technology. I
started the first day hating the class and finished the semester loving the class. This class made
me realize how important technology is for our economy. As years go on, more new

My practicum was a good learning experience of practical public health work and exposure to
how zoonotic disease is handled by multiple public health departments. I appreciated my
experience giving me the knowledge of day to day public health work and what it means to be
epidemiologist. My classes in epidemiologyprepared me well for understanding terminology and the
process of outbreak response. Particularly, my Applied Epidemiology course provided me with the
critical thinking skills to evaluate published literature. In reviewing my work I used multiple public
healthcompetencies including biostatistics, epidemiology, communication and informatics,
leadership, professionalism, and program planning.
Discipline Specific Competencies:
Biostatistics. I applied basic informatics techniques with vital statistics and public health records in
the description of public health characteristics and in public health research and evaluation. [A.8] I
used my knowledge of basic biostatistics to compare positive cases, test submissions, and human
population to see if there was any correlation. Understanding biostatistics allowed me to make a
valid and meaningful comparison of this data. The information gathered from the biostatistics gives
a limited estimate of risk, and should be further evaluated to quantify this risk. The main goal of
my project was to interpret the results of statistical analyses in terms of epidemiological human risk
factors. [A.9]

4. Technology And Usage During Dinner Time
Technology and millennials are like peanut butter and jelly. They are synonymous with each other.
Millennials have grown up with so much technology that this generation is also known as the
information generation. This generation has had technology at every toss and turn in their lives.
Technology comes in many forms that range from smart phones to tablets to televisions. Many
households throughout the last decade have changed. Homes now have more technology than ever.
Technology is no longer just in the familyrooms, or bedrooms. It is also in the kitchens and is often
times within easy reach or viewing of a dinnertable. This does not change when it is time to enjoy a

Meier and Musick suggest that the blame does not fall on millennials, but the parents. Parents are
held accountable for several reasons, the first is that parents are the ones who purchase the gadgets
and give permission for them to be used. Parents have the power in this relationship that is why
families must be educated on the pitfalls of technology.
I agree with Annie Murphy Paul, a writer for the magazine, Good House Keeping point that
parents are responsible for children s usage of technology. In Paul s article she cited a study that
was reported by the American Journal of Epidemiology which reported that while half of parents
surveyed in a 2010 study said they always or often set limits on screen time, 18 percent of their
kids really disagreed (Paul). This highlights a key discrepancy between parents and children. In
the eyes of children parents do not restrict children enough. This is exactly what Alessondra
Villegas, a researcher at Fordham University, states in her journal. She claims that parents must be
able to develop clear rules and that parents must also be firm with the boundaries that are set forth
(Villegas 2 3). In Villegas s research she found that parents use technology to watch their children.
Villegas concluded that, on average, mothers claim to use the television as a babysitter for at least
one hour a day, (6). Her work , which was published in the New York State Communication
Association later goes on to say that television

5. Celebrate The Ever-Evolving America Summary
How would it feel to not have off for christmas? For many Muslims who celebrate Eid al Fitr, and
Eid al Adha, this horror has been a reality for a very long time. In the article Celebrate the Ever
Evolving America , Lane Filler persuades us to see how important these holidays are for kids
who celebrate them, and that our culture of America embraces other cultures, and there is no
reason why we should not embrace these holidays. An important part of the article is when the
author shows how not having these days off can be bad for some students. The author quotes an
individual who believes that we need these days off. To take a day off... puts a child so far
behind now... a struggle to choose between their studies and taking off for Eid (lines 26 28).
Even though Eid is an important holiday, some kids may have to miss it for school. The words
a struggle to choose truly shows how hard not having off for this holiday is for kids, as they
struggle to choose between school and religion. This quote not only clearly shows the author s
opinion, but it also allows us to get into the shoes of these kids and parents, and see how they feel.
Because of this, we can see how it would feel to miss an important holiday for whatever... Show

already is. And it ought to be , he shows that he supports having off for this holiday for kids who
need off for it. Not only is the author s purpose of persuading us to agree with these changes
shown, but it also shows that we should support having off for Eid because of how America was
built on culturally different people, and we should welcome

8. The Causes And Effects Of Climate Change
Climate Change
Climate change is caused by human activity. This climate change in turn, causes hurricanes. The
hurricanes will destroy the human population main resources. This will lower people into having
less important resources such as: food, shelter, and water. Having less resources could lead to
poverty, which is known in developing countries such as: India, Philippines, and Haiti (Weeks 56).
There are also changes in the oceans that are being affected. This change occurring could lead to the
ocean over flooding due to contaminating the ocean caused by humans because humans have an
impact on the environment. Humanity needs to cut down the production in the coal industry because
people are burning the coal; this is causing the coal to pollute the air people breath. The effects of
climate change is caused by deforestation, overpopulation, burning coal, and contaminated food
production.
The cutting of the trees is causing deforestation, the trees are a helpful resource in the environment.
According to an article by Struck states, Experts say deforestation threatens a delicate balance in
which forests act as Earth s lungs: absorbing carbon dioxide the biggest contributor to climate
change and expelling oxygen (29). This effect causes more of the air to become contaminated by
carbon dioxide. Carbon dioxide is a harmful gas that is released into the air. The trees help keep
down the carbon dioxide in the air; this releases oxygen, so people can breathe clean air. As

The first transcontinental Railroad is being called one of the best civil engineering marvels of 19th
century.
We all know that Necessity is the mother of Invention. All was started in 1849, when gold was
discovered in California. After that many people moved to California searching for new
opportunities. The overland journey through plains, mountains, rivers and deserts was extremely
hard and dangerous. Many people choose to travel by sea and go around Cape Horn at the tip of
South America for six month journey rather than go through Isthmus of Panama and risk their life
with yellow fever and other diseases. At that time, Congress also wanted to protect gold and goods
which was flowing between east and west. During that era, America had a local rail network which
connected many cities on east coast. These all necessities had played main part in producing the
idea of the first transcontinental railroad.

Classical Social Theorists
When trying to compare three social theorists to each other, you must first try to understand the
intricacies that are entangled within each theory itself. Theorists, by nature, create theories that can
be debated from all angles but must be a tight fit in order to be considered applicable to society.
Theology as a single entity is constructed from deep intellectual thought. When social theorist
begin to develop there theoretical perspectives, they seem to have an overwhelming grasp on the

He said that competition forces people to establish ties with one another in a web of affiliation,
and in groups, conflict increases the degree of social solidarity within each group and at the same

Aside from seeing conflict as a social form, Simmel also saw money as a social form. Simmel s
Philosophy of Money is a stab at exposing how the forms of interaction affect the basic nature of
social relations independently of their specific content.
Simmel s major contribution to sociology resides in his concern with the basic forms of interaction.
Unlike Mead and Pareto, Simmel is hard to follow because he jumps from topic to topic, from the
micro to the macro and from the historical past to contemporary situations in his time. But in the
end, his goal is similar to all other theorists: to explain many empirical events with a few highly
abstract models and principles. (Turner P. 287)
Although he rejected many of the points of positivist doctrines, Vilfredo Pareto was somewhat of a
positivist whose major contribution to sociology was his Circulation of Elites conspiracy theory
documented in The Rise and Fall of the Elites. Also known as the Father of Mathematics, Pareto
thought that economics limited itself to a single aspect of human action and therefore, devoted his
studies to social theory. Pareto also thought that human affairs were largely guided by non logical,

14. Peter Sage Research Paper
I am a patient, strong, and confident communicator.
How to be an excellent entrepreneur and inspirational speaker. Do you think it takes only little
efforts to do that? I will be the happiest if it were so. However, Peter Sage is an exemplary
entrepreneur that managed to launch a successful multi billion dollar project, is always open
minded, tries to convey his messages in a different way, and simply is a person other can learn
much from. To perceive every challenge as a journey is a key to his success.
To begin with, it is very important to recognize a need for a change at the right time. According

15. The Duality of Man in Literary Works and Critical Essays
Unseen Ties: Codependency and Fallout in the Dual Brain interpreted from Literary Works and
Critical Essays The lifelong struggle for control and recognition of the human mind has been a
popular and evolving science since the late nineteenth century. Many notable authors, scientists, and
laymen have been fascinated with the study since then. Robert Louis Stevensonis one of the more
notable authors to write about dual personalities with his short story, Markheim, and the novella,
The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. The latter of these two stories has inspired the study
of multiple personalities more than any other work of fiction, and perhaps any work of nonfiction.
According to Anne Stiles, [Stevenson s wife] traces her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, the title provides irony in respect to murder
being an aggressive act, and hiding being something less. Stevenson s use of Utterson, who is a
dry, skeptical, and narrow minded character to narrate the story suffers irony itself, considering
the story is quite fantastic and irrational. Also, with Dr. Lanyon being the closest person
historically to Henry Jekyll, Lanyon is in the dark the longest, being the last to meet Ed Hyde.
Ironically, being the last to meet Mr. Hyde, he becomes the first to learn Jekyll s dark secret, as
Hyde comes out of the closet. The title that the author gives to the doctor, Henry Jekyll, M.D,
D.C.L, LL.D, F.R.S, gives the reader the impression that this is a very well educated, stable,
busy, and important person (Stevenson 470). Clearly, a man with those responsibilities would
have a full life, and no need to create an evil twin. This proves to be untrue, and the basis for the
story. This exemplifies the old adage; you can never have too much, especially if what you have
isn t making you happy. Henry Jekyll s desire to live unchecked is responsible for the creation of
Hyde. This in turn leads to the decision to commit suicide as the only way to prevent Hyde from
continuing his destructive ways. This demonstrates the ironic nature of the ego and the id.
Depending on the perspective, control of the Jekyll/Hyde beast becomes subjective.

16. Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, And Hypocrite
Spoiled, Brat, Snitch, and Hypocrite are four words that described my twenty year old sister
Jessica Bunn. Today, four years later I think of her in a completely different way. She has taught
me so many things and helped shape me into the woman I am today. Even though we are
thousands of miles apart we still share an inseparable bond. My sister has not always been a
positive influence but she has matured into one of the best women I know. Over the next few
minutes I will be talking about how mine and my sister s relationship hasn t always been great,
but over the years she has become my best friend and for this reason my sister has and will
forever influence my life in a positive way. Mine and my sister s relationship is far from perfect.
When I was younger up until high schoolour relationship was at its worst. We were constantly
bickering about anything and everything. My sister treated me badly, but I craved her
attention. She left me at home and went out with her friends, but for some reason I was drawn
to her. I always tried to impress her and wanted her to like me. No matter what she said or did to
me, I still wanted to be her best friend. I recall one day after school when I was 7 my sister was
babysitting me as she always did. We had been watching TV and I got up to make some popcorn.
While I was doing my usual dancing routine waiting for the microwave to stop I heard a giant
thud. I ran back to see my sister lying there in the living room floor gasping for air.

17. Reflection About Relationships
In the two years we have been together, my boyfriend, Andy, and I never talked about what we
considered cheating to be. This past July, I found out that he had spent the night in his car with
one of my closests friends, and his ex girlfriend. I had told him in the past that I was not
comfortable with him being out with a girl late at night, but never fully elaborated on it. Realizing
that he had done something I wasn t comfortable with, he told me he was up late playing Halo, and
kept his outing from me for almost a month. Since we had never laid our boundaries, there were no
boundaries to break. Personally, I view cheating as doing something you would not tell your
significant other about, but he sees it as having intimate relations with someone other than your
significant other. He saw it as him doing something wrong and apologized for it, but felt that it was
nowhere near cheating. Our disagreement stems from the differences between our beliefs and
expectations for each other.
In our relationship, my boyfriend had never done anything for me to lack a sense of trust. He let
me know where he was, even when I did not want to know, and always tried his best to keep in
contact with me. When it came to me spending time with the opposite sex, he was always
comfortable with the idea which is why he thought I felt the same. He had complete trust in me and
never minded the time or the place. Growing up, his father had an intimate relationship with another
woman, so to him, that was

Analysis Essay The general argument made by Deborah Gilboa, MD in her work Hey, Jimmy
Kimmel, Find a Different Funny is that although it may be harmless fun tricking your kids, it can
also change their behavior. More specifically, Dr. Gilboa argues that tricking your kid for a laugh
can have a negative impact on the relationship of the family. She writes, parents shock and betray
their kids for a laugh . In this passage, Dr. Gilboa is implying that telling your kids that you ate
their candy or give them a bad Christmas present is a very bad idea and it will degrade the trust
between the parentand the kid. In conclusion, Dr. Gilboa believes that parents should not lie to their
kids for a cheap laugh. In the end the doctor tried to persuade Jimmy Kimmel by explaining that
children are not mentally developed, there are negative consequences from the parent s action, and

claims, They re just kids, they don t get it. . Dr Gilboa convinces readers because of her close

19. Human Geography Chapter Summaries
Chapter one in the book, Human Geography, gives a timeline of the changes that have occurred
since the creation of planet Earth. The author, John Rennie Short, explained how truly powerful the
earth itself is. It has the ability to wipe out humanity. We often blame nature when natural disasters
happen, but perhaps the humanrace may have something to do with the cause of environmental
hazards like volcanic eruptions, hurricanes, and earthquakes.
Short went into depth when talking about the nine main plates of the Earth. The movement of these
plates have caused land to separate and changed the location of continents. A great example of the
power that these plates hold is when the Indo Australian plate and the Eurasian plate came together.

20. Asian Gold Miners And Its Effects On The Chinese People...
The Chinese began to immigrate overseas after many years of harsh living conditions in China.
Some of these contributions were; the Opium wars (1839 42, 1856 60), the Taiping rebellion
(1856 64), famine, and a sinking economy. These grave circumstances led to them flocking to
faraway lands to seek work. One of the main draws of California for the Chinese was the
opportunity for a better life through gold digging and fertile soil. The struggles for these
travelers began early with the voyage, journeying on coolie ships in inhumane conditions caused
the loss of many lives. Passengers were packed into steerage at the bottom of the boat, with poor
ventilation and over crowding sickness ran ramped. When these celestials as Americans called
them, arrived in San Francisco or Dabu the first city many found work as miners, farmhands,
railroad builders, fishermen, or laundrymen. Asian gold miners had many obstacles to contend
with, for one the new foreign miners tax was extremely difficult for the Chinese to supply. Also
the attacks of racist fellow miners had no penalty. Due to the case of People v. hall (1854) the
Chinese were not allowed to witness in legal proceedings against whites. While most miners had
more rights as citizens, this was impossible for the Chinese because the California constitution
allowed only whites to become be state citizens. Some Asians tried to naturalize, such as Sang Yuen

As opposed to this a small business owner is the one whose objective is to manage stable growth,

Every business that comes into existence goes through these phases. Pre inception phase where in
the business model is developed, the assets are allocated and the process is defined. It is then
followed by the inception phase, which incorporates the analysis of the estimated risks and costs.
Then beings the construction phase, where the project plan is prepared and the stakeholders are
ready for the system to function. Then comes the production phase, where the production begins
commercially. It initiates growth of the firm. In the growth phase of any enterprise, there are lots of
challenges with the revenues or profits increasing. The peaking of profits, additional repairs and

22. Definition Essay On Failure
Failure is among those things everyone has in common such as putting our pants on one leg at a
time. It is a human experience. A few individuals handle the experience well, others not so well.
What is the secret? How do some individuals bounce back so successfully following failure? #1
They do not go ahead and take failure personally. Failure is not a personal attack or even a
indication of any type of character flaw. There is a clich that says something along the lines of
failure means you tried. People that are actively pursuing goals and dreams are unsuccessful often
and they perceive it as part of the progression. Instead of feeling not worthy or like a failure, they
reevaluate their technique and try again. When you encounter failure rather than feeling badly

Gratitude is a strong emotion. Feeling gratitude for the failure and the experience will help you
proceed with resolve and enthusiasm. Occasionally writing or journaling your ideas in a
positive manner can help you accept failure as a positive experience instead of a negative one.
#5 Realize it happens to everybody and don t hesitate to ask for support or advice. Among the
great things about failure is it s an equalizer. Realize that the strongest people in the world, the
most famous people have all failed many, many times. Whenever you fail rather than
internalizing it and having difficulties again and again, ask for assistance and advice. #6
Embrace your inner child. Remember as a kid and running together with your friend?
Occasionally you would fall right? What would you do? You would leap back up, not really
think about the fall and go back to running, right? Children have a knack for focusing on the fun
and not letting the failures or falls stop them. Do as the song says, pick yourself up, dust yourself
off, and start all over again. When you love what you are working on, you won t even offer a

Good nutrition and its role in positively affecting athletic performance has become more and more
evident almost daily. Specific macro and micronutrients are better understood as to their specific
functions within the body and from that how they can influence the body s ability to perform while
under duress. An example of such would be the stress of athletic performance. Vitamin D, which is
also referred to as cholecalciferol, is one of the fat soluble vitamins that have been attributed to
influencing athletic performance. However, vitamin D is not as much a performance enhancing
nutrient in the sense that when taken in higher amounts it will aid athletic performance, but rather

Many factors influence how much sunlight exposure individuals receive and thus impact the
amount of Vitamin D that the body can synthesize. Latitude, season of the year, time of day,
sunblock, melanin content of the skin, age, and clothing are a few of these factors. Cannell and
associates describes that individuals who train and/or compete above the 35 degree latitude
marker, which is half of the United States and all of Canada and Europe, do not receive enough
sun exposure to synthesize enough Vitamin D, especially during the fall and winter seasons 2.
Others who are at risk are those who engage in indoor sports or train primarily indoors, such as
gymnasts, indoor track and field athletes, basketball players, and wrestlers to name a few. There is
also a surprisingly high amount of Vitamin D deficiency described in Miami, Florida because of
the extensive use of sunblock 3.
Vitamin D Deficiency The definition of Vitamin D deficiency is changed almost yearly, as the
laboratory levels which determine what is an adequate or inadequate level of vitamin D in the
blood serum are changing as well 2, 4. Recent research studies have determined that ideal levels
of vitamin D are at or above 50 ng·mL 1 from 30 ng·mL 1, which was previously thought to
be adequate levels within the blood. This is problematic for several reasons, but one of the most
critical reasons is that the number of diseases caused at least in part by vitamin D are on the rise and

There are many ways Indian Gaming effects local and regional economies. It can be argued that
it has been very beneficial. It can also be argued that it has been a detriment. Since 1988, when
the Indian Gaming Regulatory Act was passed, it has been providing a means of income for the
tribes that participate. Indian gaming is beneficial to tribes and surrounding communities because
it creates economic stability for the tribes, provides well paying jobs, and economic benefits for
surrounding communities and the state. Indian gaming has created wealth for some tribes, but for
most tribes it has made them economically stable. Part of the reason for success in Indian gaming
was the route most tribes took. By starting conservatively and using temporary buildings, in some
cases, tribes were able to smartly and carefully begin in the gaming industry (Akee, Spilde, and
Taylor 196). Not all tribes use gaming as their primary source of income, but it is another revenue
source that makes things stable. Some tribes have become very wealthy due to having an advantage

URL (Uniform Resource Locator, previously Universal Resource Locator) is the unique address
for a file that accessible on the Internet, is a reference to a web resource that specifies its location
on a computer network and a mechanism for retrieving it. (Rouse)
Most web browsers display the URL of a web page above the page in an address bar. A typical URL
could have the formhttp://www.example.com/index.html, which indicates a protocol (http), use to
access the file resource; a hostname/domain name (www.example.com), that identifies a specific
computer on the internet; and a file name (index.html), specifies the location of a file in that
computer.
Like a key to the door, by entering the URL of a website in the web browser s address line, you can

any (HTML) web page.
A good URL is important to web analytics. Having the keywords inside the long URL to be user

For example, (www.example.com/fruits/apple.html ). In this URL, we can clearly see that

On February 17, 2016, our Life Span Development class observed the physical, cognitive, and
social development of Asher, a 5.5 month old male. The observation was conducted at Dordt
College in room CL2260 and the infant s parent consented to participate in the live observation.
Asher was quite sick and later saw a doctor, so the findings of this report may not entirely represent
Asher s development.
Asher was 5 weeks along when his mother, Abby, found out she was pregnant. Asher is the third
child and has a 4 year old sister and a 3 year old brother. Abby tried to eat as healthy as she could
during her pregnancy to ensure that Asher would be as healthy as possible. Thus, she avoided
lunchmeats, seafood, and soft cheeses. At 20 weeks, Abby had an ultrasound, in which no
structural abnormalities were found. Since this was her third child, Abby chose not to take part in
prenatal counseling. Labor lasted only about an hour, and Asher was born by Cesarean Delivery

21 inches. These are both above average for both height and weight of newborns in North America
but within two standard deviations of the average (Santrock, 2014). At 5.5 months, Asher weighs
17 pounds. This is about the normal weight, for Asher is on pace to triple his birth weight by age

Chapter one is entitled Failing to Forget the Drunken Pirate. This chapter starts off giving

she posted on her private Myspace account. The picture was captioned drunken pirate and she
was holding a red cup, the university officials claimed her behavior was unbecoming. Although
her page was private, it was still easy for the officials to find this one image that ruined Stacey s
career. In this chapter it is stressed how easy it is to find information on anyone. Google actually
keeps individual records of people s search history, web pages browsed, and keywords that they
often search. Google used to keep these records forever, but as of recently that changed and they
are only kept for a short period of time. Also in this chapter it is stated that there is no more privacy.

32. Corporate Social Responsibility of Levi Strauss
It is the nature of business to expand its business and increase sales. What is ethical? In my
opinion ethics are defined by what is right. Some ethics are defined by law but many must come
from within the person or business. One must realize that sometimes what might be considered
unethical by law or ethical by law might need to be revisited and thought about if the law or lack of
it produces unethical outcomes.
In doing business so many times an organization must think globally. This might be done to
increase sales and/or profits or to lower labor costs. In either case problems can occur due to ethical
and cultural barriers in global expansion. In this paper I will attempt to show some of what a global
organization and a cultural issue that affects their interactions outside the United States by

One company that faces these cultural issues daily is Levi Strauss and Company. Levi Strauss and
Company is a large American company founder in 1853 and is well known for its denim line.

those with inflammatory bowel disease and other gastrointestinal problems are more likely to
develop the disease themselves (CDC, Wolf, Mayo clinic). Though anyone can develop the
disease, inflammatory bowel disease is most common in those with a European and Jewish
descent, who are Caucasian, and those who are White (CDC, Wolf, Mayo clinic). Females are more
likely to develop Crohn s, while males are more likely to develop Crohn s (CDC).
Inflammatory bowel disease is more common in developed countries, with a greater frequency in
urban areas than in rural areas, indicating globalization to be a contributing factor for

35. Reflection Of A Reflection On Teaching
Reflection for Co Teaching This semester was my first time working with 3rd graders at an IB
school. This type of school is structured much differently than all the other elementary schools in
Jefferson County. The curriculum at this school is a concept driven curriculum that helps students
construct meaning through improved critical thinking skills. This means that the lessons taught are
inquiry based. Inquiry based instruction is centered on posing questions and establishing facts
through exploration rather than simply presenting the facts to the students. With that being said,
my cooperating teacher (CT) planned a very interactive Science lesson to get his students engaged
in learningand doing Science. My CT told me that he did not have a specific book to teach with,
yet he had essential questions and standards that needed to be met in Science. The lesson was
centered on the 3rd grade Colorado academic standard 2, concept 2, which pertained to the
concept of the duration and timing of life cycle events in different organisms. The essential
question of how humans can have a negative or positive impact on the life cycle of animals and
insects was also a guiding factor in the lesson. My CT and one of his co workers that taught 3rd
grade came up with this lesson with the help of the ButterflyPavilion, who provided specimens,
exploration, and butterfly holder nets for the classroom.
This lesson was a great activity that captivated an idea learned in my college class that

Turning Today s Bloody Healthcare Market Blue
When discussing healthcare, blue and red are adjectives typically associated with the color of a
patient s veins and blood. However, from the executive s point of view, these two adjectives mean
something completely different. In the healthcare field, there are two market strategies: red ocean
strategy and blue ocean strategy. Red Oceans represent the pre identified market place which is
comprised of all the types of businesses which are actively participating in the industry day. In
contrast, Blue Oceans represent the unknown market place, i.e. all the types of businesses not
actively participating and/or existing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Value Innovation is accomplished by creating exceptional value for the customer while,
simultaneously, creating high profits for the company (Pritchett, 2014). At its core, the true goal of
The Affordable Care Act is value innovation; lowering the cost of healthcare and improving patient
outcomes. It is through compliance with these measures that health care providers will realize high
profits. The ACA creates significant barriers for small practices and those who are not willing to
comply with meaningful use measures. Although the healthcare industry is considerably a red
ocean, a blue ocean is attainable. Overcoming the red ocean of healthcare requires one to become
more than just a health care provider. Through the efforts of physician collaboration, electronic
health record system interconnectivity, and establishment of health protocols that witness proven
high outcomes, Ochsner Physician Partners has successfully achieved the blue ocean strategy for
the healthcare industry.

38. Critical Analysis Of Lapis Lazuli
Lapis Lazuli is a kind of a precious blue stone. (Marc 1998) Lapis Lazuli referred to in this poem
was given to Yeats on his seventieth birthday (as a present) by Mr. Harry Clifton. In this essay I
am going to critically analyse this poem in relation to its context. This means that in relation to time
and place. I will then conclude by commenting on the language aspects and give an account as to
why he chose to use certain conventions and words.
In discussing the relationship between art and politics For everybody knows or else should
know that if nothing drastic is done, aeroplane and zeppelin will come out. Pitch like king billy
bomb balls in until the town lie beaten flat Marc (1998) articulates that this poem opens up with
a description of the fear of war, and panic that caught Europe during the period 1935 1939. He
further observed that this was the time of deep despair. This means that one grew up for the
foreknowledge that war more dangerous than the first one was possible. Lines of extreme fear
and violence were growing and people were shaking with fear of air raids, and raining incendiary
bombs in cities and citizens.
The main purpose of this poem is to critically reflect on human ... Show more content on

39. Laissez Faire Vs. State Intervention
1800s: Laissez faire vs. State Intervention
What does, exactly, laissez faire mean? According to the Oxford dictionary, this French term
means literally allow to do , however, in nineteenth century Britain, this word was used to define a
new policy of non intervention in free market affairs by governments, in order to allow things to
follow their own course without any external help, as suggested from some of the most famous
economists of the era, as Adam Smith, his followers Thomas Robert Malthus and David Ricardo, or
Samuel Smiles.
These economists believed in a hands off approach of self help, as it can be seen from their
written works. For example, Samuel Smiles (1859) wrote: Even the best institutions can give a
man no active help. Perhaps, most they can do is, to leave him free to develop himself and
improve his individual condition. Basically, they strongly believed in the idea of the self made man
, capable of becoming successful by his own efforts. Anyhow, this belief that the interest of an
individual would have led, in the end, to benefits for both the economy and the society, as
highlighted by Smith (1776), strongly disagreed with the living conditions of the nineteenth century
British society s situation. In fact, even though this century brought various improvements to the
world, with a period of huge innovation known as Industrialisation , there was a huge gap between
social classes, given that any change was made available for poor people, that

40. Mrs Mallard Oppression
The Story of an Hour , is a short story written by Kate Chopin in 1894. Throughout this time frame,
the Women s Suffrage Movement was going on as well as the constrained traditions of feminine
roles. Men were known to be dominant and this short story connects very well with this time frame.
In The Story of an Hour , Kate Chopinaddresses many of the concerns that are central to
feminism, by using verbal, situational and dramatic irony, as well as imagery and flashback,
unveiling the issues of oppression and suppression in women. The main character of the story
Mrs. Mallard, is firstly introduced to the reader. She is a women afflicted with a heart trouble and

To the readers surprise, Louise dies of a heart attack at that very moment. When the doctor came

was functional and not horribly cruel, Louise still appreciated the new found freedom that she
had when she thought her husband was gone. She died not only from a heart attack but at the
realization that she would have to go back to a sub surd role, a repressed situation, she would not
live for just herself but she would have to bend her will to someone else, and this robbing of the
freedom is what really killed her. Josephine, Brentley and the doctor believed that Louise was
overwhelmed with joy at seeing her husband alive that the shock kills her, given her fragile heart
condition. However the reader is privy to the thoughts in Louise s head and may interpret the
ending differently. Seeing Louise s heart breaking sense that her freedom and autonomy was now
dashed to the ground is what really killed

41. The Dream Of A Dream
Slipping back into her dream, she was no longer in the church. Dream Fianna had just reached the
market in the village square with her sisters and the cart. Scouring the marketplace for the shawl
maker, the girls were approached by a middle aged woman leading a bedraggled nag attached to a
cart stacked with knitted goods. Laboriously, the lady plodded along, dragging her left leg. Dream
Fianna smiled shyly at the woman. This wasn t part of the lesson, Fianna told them. I never met this
woman in the VRC. Dream Fianna turned. You should have. You missed the witch thing. This is
part of what you need to understand. See what exquisite wares fill my cart, she crooned in a
grandmotherly voice, enticing the girls to step closer. From... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Margaret s told us the maker of these shawls was a young woman named Erin. The old woman
shifted her weight. Her terse smile drew down the corners of her mouth again, creating lines of
wrinkles that edged around her neck and drooped into her blouse. No, lassie, there is only one
maker of knotted shawls such as these. Her gnarled hands, too worn and creased for a person
with a middle aged face and chestnut hair sparsely streaked with silver, smoothed the stack of
shawls lovingly. She moved in front of Fianna, her back to the other girls, blocking Fianna s
view of the market square. For a few seconds, Mistress Tooley s face morphed into that of a
scraggy ancient hag with long gray hair. She looked nothing like a pudgy faced woman.
Apologetically Dream Fianna tried to ease the tension. Maybe there are others who knit the
same pattern. It is a sad day when a child takes not the word of an elder. You should be asking
forgiveness of the good Father in confession for your rudeness. As you are strangers here, I see
that I must tell you the truth. I am the shawl maker s mam. Unfortunately, she took ill this very
morn so I find myself at the market today. After all, the rents must be paid and we need food for
the table. Ashamed that she had the bad manners to challenge an adult, Dream Fianna found the
perfect spot to focus her downcast eyes, the toes of her shoes. I m sorry if I was rude, Mistress
Tooley, it s just that I m in such a hurry to find

Studies associate smallholders with negative attitudes towards index based insurance within prisms
of limited prodding the existing manifold risks. This article analyses perception of smallholders
towards weather index insurance amid common risks and coping strategies. The study was carried
out in Embu County, Eastern Kenya using a sample of 401 smallholders obtained following a
multistage sampling technique. The study established that the most important risks to the
smallholder farmers were drought, input costs and crop pests and diseases respectively while the
least ranked risks in the same order of importance were excess rains, floods and frost. Similarly, the
results reveal that the smallholder farmers ranked engagement in off farm work, use of household
savings and crop diversification as the most important strategies of coping with drought. Borrowing
from banks, food aid and stopping children from attending school were also ranked as the least
important strategies. In addition, the findings do not strongly suggest a negative attitude towards
weatherindex insuranceamong smallholders thus controverting hitherto studies that do not overly
explain why? Furthermore the study rather postulates that other risks facing smallholders and their
riskresponses disposition may distort and override farmers attitude towards weather index
insurance. The Ordered probit model output reveals that sex of the house hold head, size of the
household, if a farmer experienced crop loss in

43. Christian Anchor
The anchor in the Christian faith was previously symbolic of safety because of the importance in
navigation. More recently, the anchor has become a symbol of hope. Hope is extremely
important in the Christian faith since Christ is the infallible hope for all who believe in Him.
Some of the early fathers spoke of this in the same way, but the first time hope was associated
with the anchor, was the Epistle to the Hebrews. It was written that hope is an anchor for the soul,
firm and secure (Hebrews 6:19).
An anchor can be defined as a heavy object attached to a rope and used to secure a boat to the sea
bottom. It symbolically reflects stability and confidence. Christianity teaches that these traits are
discovered in Christ. Those who follow

46. Occupational Safety And Health Administration Essay
INTRODUCTION
Accidents are unfortunately inevitable in an industry as dangerous as the construction industry. It
is not unknown that all around construction is the occupational field that produces the most
accidents and fatalities per year, which can definitely be intimidating for anyone desiring a career in
this environment. Furthermore, the sad truth is that accidents will never cease to occur regardless
of all of the strict rules and safety procedures implemented by supervisors and safety organizations
such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), for there are situations where
there are unwilling workers who choose not to cooperate with set safety rules. Construction
individuals are solely responsible for their own health and safety; as a result, workers put
themselves at risk by not following safety implanted rules, which undoubtedly adds to the ever
growing list of injuries/fatalities per year in construction.
However, even though accidents and fatalities will never stop in this industry, the reduction of
incidents is definitely a mutual aim for everyone involved in this profession. For example, OSHA
requires companies to commands their respective workers to utilize Personal Protective Equipment,
also referred to as PPE. PPE aims to lower the physical risk of workers when dealing directly with
the likes of toxic substances, tools, and machinery in addition to be around unstable objects and
structures. There are countless forms of gadgets, tools, and

47. What Was The Role Of Paul In Ww2
During Paul s time as a traditional Jew in the early days of his life 5 10AD, he was a very
violent but strong believer of his own faith and religious ways. Because of this, it was acceptable
to attack and arrest gentiles Paul s persecution of Christians was entailed by his Jewish
understanding of the Messiah: he was waiting for the Anointed One the Messiah and he could not
tolerate the fragmented loyalties that were taking place within the nation with the rise of a new sect
that looked to Jesusas the awaited Messiah. Paul had a firm commitment to the Jewish religionand
his wholehearted acceptance of the Pharisaic interpretation of that religion. It was the moment of

It is known that his main priority was to arrest and be violent toward Gentiles. But Saul was
ravaging the church by entering house after house; dragging off both men and women, he
committed them to prison. Although he was seen as a calm and caring person, Saul s life
revolved around arresting and decreasing the number of the young Christian church all over
Jerusalem. nothing however is more certain about Paul (or Saul) the zealous Pharisee than his
intense disdain for and persecution of the earliest church, or assembly of believers in Jesus as
Israel s messiah. both acts and Pauls own attest to this grim reality. His reputation was such as to
make his supposed change of heart suspect. It was on his way to Damascus to arrest and prosecute
these gentiles that the conversion of God occurred. This is the primary part of Saul s life in which
the change that god worked in his life occurred. There are many factors which attributed to god in
