The And New England Colonies
Everyone has an external force that motivates them in some way that allows them to be able to
go about their everyday lives and fulfill their ambitions. Within the years of 1580 and 1763 this
force took the form of God. Around this same time was when the Chesapeake and New England
colonies were in the process of being founded. As a result, these two settlements did nothing
without referencing their actions to God. Due to this heavy focus on God as the reason behind
every aspect of their lives, chaos began to sprout soon after the settlers began settling and started
living their new lives in the colonies. Since the colonist believed that God dictated their entire
lives; they never felt that they were in the wrong. Not once did the colonists stop to think that they
had no right to steal the natives land. If God had not smitten them, then they thought that God
approved of what they were doing. In this case, the colonists were in the process of acquiring land
that the earth bringeth foorth all things in aboundance, as in the first creation, without toile or
labour... the most plentifull, sweete, fruitfull, and wholesome [soil] of all the world . The new
land that the colonists wanted to take appeared similar to the Garden of Eden. Since they
successfully made their voyage to the new land, it looked as if God allowed them to enter a land
similar to one of his own. If God gave the colonists access to the land, then wouldn t that mean that
the colonists were entitled to the land

Prohibition and the Mafia Essay
The prohibition caused much controversy in the 1920 s. The 18th amendment was passed on Jan
16, 1920, it said in Title II, Section 3 the National Prohibition Act states that No person shall on or
after the date when the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States goes into effect,
manufacture, sell, barter, transport, import, export, deliver, furnish or possess any intoxicating
liquor except as authorized in this act. (United States constitution). The Prohibition opened up many
big business opportunities in the illegal marketing of alcohol. The people who took advantage of
this opportunity were known as Bootleggers . With the enactment of this law organized crime was

With everyone wanting and buying alcohol it increased the demand for it, which is when
organized crime started. Once the organized crime families were established they were the main
contributors to the illegal Bootlegging of alcohol. During the 20 s there was a great deal of
violent crimes. Most of them could be connected back to the organized crime families. Alphonse
Gabriel Al Capone was a gangster who led illegal activities such as the smuggling and the
bootlegging of alcohol during the prohibition. Even though he had a tough exterior he was a
caring man he was the first to open up a soup kitchen in Chicago (hammer). Capone s estimated
annual revenue was around 100 million dollars. He had many men working for him such as
Frank Nitti, August Pisano and Louis Morganno. He supplied Chicago with most of its alcohol.
(Capone: the man and his era). Capone was said to be involved with many violent crimes, as the
same with many of the men who could be classified as organized crime gangsters. With t the lack
of evidence and the numerous amount of people that Capone had paid off the police were never
able to charge him with any of numerous amounts of crimes. One of the most well known
killings that Capone was said to be involved with was the ST. Valentines Day massacre. Capone s

occasions where he was arrested but was released due to lack of evidence. The 1927

The Congress Should Undergo A Reform
For many years, there has been an ongoing debate as to whether or not the Senate should undergo a
reform. Many Canadian citizens are unsatisfied with the fact that the Senate is not elected. How are
citizens to be sure that they are being properly represented when they are not able to choose who
represents them? Although the Senate is an integral part of the governmental system, many
Canadians are leaning towards the idea to completely abolish the Senate. The credible, David C.
Docherty, outlines the previous attempts for the Senate reform while describing the mindset of
Canadians and where the reformation of the Senate currently stands in his article The Canadian
Senate: Chamber of Sober Reflection or Loony Cousin Best Not Talked About. The previous
attempts for the Senate reform while describing the mindset of Canadians and where the
reformation of the State currently stands.
The Canadian Senate s initial purpose is to review legislative proposals that are sent from the
House of Commons, in other words to serve as a chamber of sober second thought
(Malcolmson,Richard,Gerald,Thomas .138) The Senate is known to have statutory power to defeat,
stall or pass bills that are sent from the lower house. The intention behind this function was a
response to the democratically elected House of Commons that may possibly fail to respect
property rights regarding people of lower and higher classes. The Senate body is designed to
protect property rights and to pay attention to

Essay on Benedict Arnold
Benedict Arnold
The name Benedict Arnold has become a synonym for a traitor to one s country. In the first years
of the American Revolution, however, Arnold was a brilliant and dashing general, highly respected
for his service to the patriot cause (see Revolution, American).
Benedict Arnold was born on Jan. 14, 1741, in Norwich, Conn. His father,
Benedict, was a well to do landowner. His mother was Hannah King Waterman Arnold.
While a boy, young Arnold twice ran away to join the colonial troops fighting in the French and
Indian War. When he was 21 he settled in New Haven. In time he became a prosperous merchant
and a captain in the Connecticut militia. He married Margaret Mansfield in 1767. They had three

In the first years of the American Revolution, Arnold was a brilliant and courageous general, highly

Benedict Arnold was born on Jan. 14, 1741, in Norwich, Conn. He was a very daring boy. He
once ran on a millwheel with another kid. He was also known to love fireworks and once was
caught lighting a jug of gunpowder that would have resulted in a big explosion. When he was a
little older (about 17), Arnold twice ran away to join the colonial troops fighting in the French and
Indian War.
When he was 21 he moved to New Haven. In time he became a prosperous merchant and a captain
in the Connecticut militia. He married Margaret Mansfield in 1767.
They had three sons.
Arnold played a gallant part in the American Revolution and became a major general in 1777. His
wife had died in 1775 and early in 1779 he married Margaret
Shippen, by whom he had four sons and one daughter. Arnold was not careful with his money and
soon found himself hard up for cash. It was because of this that he began his treasonable activities.

Nor Easters Case Study
What do you consider to be the key findings of the research survey? Comment on what
Buckingham learned about a prospective customer profile, pricing and single ticket versus season
ticket packages.
Several of the key findings from the research survey can be summarized into the following points;
In regards to a customer profile those aged between 26 35 years old with children, an income
between $22,500 to $75,000 would attend under 5 or 2 games per year. They would not
necessarily be a baseball fan but are looking for family entertainment. This gives an understanding
to motives behind why this market is attending and how to create a market strategy to their ideals.
Another key finding from the research survey is that of the customer ... Show more content on

Furthermore the relationship between concession spending and the amount of people willing to
spend money on concession goods is the amount that concession prices rise less people willing to
purchase them. As 45% of people are willing to spend between $6 $10 on concessions, estimating
that to $8 being spent, concessions should be priced range between $6 $10.Concession and ticket
prices provide variables to calculate optimal pricing mix for a single ticket, the same can be used on
all the packages.
The results are;
Single Ticket $10 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
5 Game Ticket Package $8 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Half Season Ticket Package $6 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Full Season Ticket Package $4 and individuals buying $8 worth of concession
Using the pricing plan you have designed, will the team reach break even in the first year? If not,
what options does Buckingham have to reach his target?
Due to the high costs the goal of breaking even is a large task. At current product prices a profit
of $53,676 can be expected. This is total by 21,582 who will at least attend one game. Next we
can assume that amongst that population of 21582 54% would be interested in going to one
game, 28% interested in at least 5, 13% would be interested in half season and 5% in full. Of the
54% who will attend one game 80% would pay $10.

King Henry Symbolism
A Contradictory King: The King is but a Man as I Am
Among all the characters of the play, I am most interested in the personalities and the changes of
King Henry. The bishop Ely declares, We are blessed in the change, so are all the English people
(1.1.39). His changes are from a youth to an adult and from a man without power to a king. The
changes of his status accompany the changes in his characteristics. Finally, As Rabkin questions:
Can the manipulative qualities that guarantee political success be combined in one man with the
spiritual qualities that make one fully open and responsive to life and therefore fully human?
(Rabkin 37)

Actually, I like the king much better after he disguises himself with the cloak of Erpingham.
There his superficially contradictory character is finally thrown off like a discarded cloak, and
the youth in him comes out again: Then, he starts to joke around with his former friend Pistol,
telling him, Do not were your dagger in your cap on Saint Davy s day lest Fluellen knocks that
about yours (4.1.57 8). This is the first joke that he tells in the play, showing that he is not
serious throughout time. He also shows much fear when he meets the three soldiers, saying to
Williams, Though I speak it to you,/ I think the King is but a man as I am (4.1.98 9) With the
word though, the king is in fact implying that I should not say so. This is not only because it is
contradictory to condemn himself, but also because he believes that a king should not show
any cowardice. He should not possess this fragile human side in his heart, as Adam or other
human beings do. Nevertheless, he still feels that for a king, when he sees reason of fears as we
do, his fears, out of doubt, be of the same relish as ours are (4.1.105 6). We prefer this speech of
the king because he tells us that every man is the same. We prefer this moment of the king
because by seeing his weakness, we see also ourselves. We prefer this form of the king because
with a cloak and disguise, he is truest to himself and to us, without

Creationism in Public Schools Essay
Creationism in Public Schools Teaching Creationism in Schools The question as to whether or not
creationism should be taught in public schools is a very emotional and complex question. It can be
looked at from several different angles, its validity being one of them. Despite the lack of evidence
to support the fundamentalist idea of creationism, that in itself is not enough to warrant its exclusion
from the curriculum of public schools in the United States. The question is far more involved and
complex.
One way to address the question is whether or not creationism, in itself, is a valid idea to be taught
in public schools. The answer to this can be yes. Not only should a student in American public
schools learn ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the
science classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole
theory that it rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in
Genesis, custom made to fit in with Darwin s theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say
that scientific creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into
the Г’blikГ“ of the religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre set worldview
held by all people, in which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular
subject. In the case of religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of
Genesis is an essential part of their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal
view of the Book of Genesis into a form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation
science still does not have a place in the science classroom of public schools.
Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random
beginning. No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific
creationism. Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find
creation, if it is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as

Harriet Martineau s Travel
Travel is different for everyone. There are no two people who experience the exact same thing
when they leave the comforts of their homes. For some people during Victorian times to the mid
1900 s travelling was a way of life. Explorers such as Captain James Cook and Percy Fawcett
cleared the way for many young explorers. Women such as Harriet Martineau set an example for
women everywhere; that one does not have to get married and settle down, but can instead
discover the mysteries of the world. The travellers in discussion all came from a Western
perspective. When approaching the natives, however, each person, man or woman, had a varying
reaction. Western explorers felt superior to the Native people of the lands, but each person reflected

From a religious perspective, the people of the Hawaiian islands were deplorable. Marshall
Sahlins calls Hawaiian culture Aphrodisian, and cites as evidence a nineteenth century missionary
who complained that islanders practiced twenty forms of intercourse and had as many words for
coitus (Horwitz 392). In the West, the topic of sex is extremely taboo. Public displays of affection
or lustful words are considered sinful. When Captain James Cook sailed to this area, many of his
men participated in debauchery with the exotic women. In this situation, the men had absolutely
no respect for the Islander dwellers. The culture was to their liking, therefore they borrowed it
for a little while. If there was any real respect for these people, the Western men would have tried
to to accept more pieces of it, instead of the parts that gave them pleasure. In Blue Latitudes, when
the Natives took the belongings of the crew, Cook planned to do what he had done many times
before in the Pacific: seize a chief and hold him until stolen goods were returned (Horwitz 405).
Instead of trying to understand why the men would act like this, Cook acted upon his most primal
instincts to get the possessions back. The Western travellers in many situations simply took
advantage of the people they happened upon. One prime example of this comes from Heart Of
Darkness. When

In Australia, some Aboriginal art objects are celebrated as fine art of great cultural, aesthetic and
economic value... (Fisher 1). The original art from this culture is rock art which is estimated to be
about 40,000 years old. This type of art was essential to the survival of the culture mainly
because there was no such thing as a written language in those times. The Aboriginals used this
rock art by incorporating symbols in order to tell stories and pass information down from
generation to generation. The art taught survival and how to efficiently use the land. Before
canvas painting they showcased their art with body painting, once they did start painting on
canvases the use of ochre was very important. Ochre is a natural Earth pigment that is usually a
brown color and the use of Ochre directly represents how the Aboriginal culture uses the land to
their advantage. They live traditionally and can survive without anything but what the land gives
them. If you look at contemporary art by the culture the use of symbols and icons are still present
just like the original rock art. The same style is incorporated on the canvas where the artist

Effectiveness Of A Competitive Advantage
Increasingly, firms find themselves, either by design or circumstances, operating in business
environments fraught with unprecedented, unparalleled, unrelenting, and largely unpredictable
change. Retaining competitive advantage is a constant preoccupation for all companies.
Millions of words have been written purporting to identify the principles and practices most
likely to enable firms to gain competitive advantage and, thereby, enjoy superior profit margins.
Despite all this study, management remains a testing ground where theory, experience,
judgment and, sometimes, luck play a role. According to Glenn (2009), approximately 90 per
cent of senior executives who took a survey by The Economist s Magazine Intelligence Unit
understand that their organizations have to be agile to thrive in the marketplace. According to
Merriam Webster s Collegiate Dictionary, to be agile is to have a quick, resourceful and
adaptable character (Agile, 2016). Agility has classically been defined as simply the ability to
change direction rapidly (Bloomfield, Ackland, Elliot, 1994; Clarke, 1959; Mathews, 1973), but
also the ability to change direction rapidly and accurately (Barrow McGee, 1971; Johnson
Nelson, 1969). In more recent publications, some authors have defined agility to include whole
body change of direction as well as rapid movement and direction change of limbs (Baechle, 1994;
Draper Lancaster, 1985). Based on many researches done we can define organizational agility as a

Susan Whitfield Life Along The Silk Road Summary
In Susan Whitfield s Life Along the Silk Road, there is no central argument pushing the book in
one specific direction. There is, however, a slice into the daily lives of ten different characters.
By dividing the story into characters rather than chapters in a book, the author gains the ability
to tell what daily life would have actually looked like, from multiple perspectives. A story that
would transcend different social classes, ranks, genders, and ethnic groups. The book covers
lifestyles from the life of luxuries led by Taihe, the Chinese princess and the years of hardship of
Seg Lahton, a Tibetan soldier. The story flows through all of this, weaving it all together through
the Silk Road. There is a drawback to this tactic. To write a book like this there are a significant
amount of assumptions made, causing the reader to wonder what was fact and what was fiction.
Still, Whitefield writes her story through looking at some of the many aspects of an individual
character s life, their interactions with family, government, royalty, and trade and how these all join

the poor. Whitfield said, [The monastery] offered the poor employment, the rich redemption, and a
tax haven to both. (161) However, the people in charge of the religion, no matter the denomination,
were all susceptible to corruption. With Kumtugh the Horseman, his tribal leaders adapted the
beliefs of Sogdian Merchants, who they offered protection to while traveling through their lands.

Analysis Of The Poem The Chimney Sweeper
Blake s poem The Chimney Sweeper is considered to be one of his finest, yet contradictory
works of his life, as he provides a negative social perspective on the topic of child labour. Assisted
through the use of various poetic techniques such as anecdotes, biblical illusion, symbolism,
euphemism, metaphors, and rhyme, Blake was able to assertively convey his protest towards
the laws against the use of young children in the British workforce. The theme of child innocence
is also the other main explored topic throughout this poem, as it is also in a majority of Blake s
writing, as well as a common subject touched on by a majority of The Romantics. The first
stanza of the poem highlights how the children that were apprenticed by their parents to
sweepers were of such a young age, historically documented to be as young as 5 years old. This
is demonstrated by the line my father sold me while yet my tongue, Could scarcely cry weep!
weep! weep! weep! this stanza protesting social issues such as child labour as well as involuntary
servitude. Blake is able to express this point more effectively through anecdotes, as Blake
describes the life of a boy, the narrator, whose mother dies at an early age and is then sold into
chimneysweeping by his father. Imagery is another technique used, as the narrator not
metaphorically, but literally, sleeps in/on the black soot he works in, as chimney sweepers were
known to sleep on the bags of soot they swept during the day. In

The Dogmas Of Mary-Vanessa Perez
The Dogmas of Mary Vanessa Perez
The first dogma is the Divine Motherhood. This dogma is that Mary is the Mother of God. We
believe this because she gave birth to Jesus, who is both 100% human and 100% divine. We got
this belief from the Council of Ephesus and the Council of Chalcedon. They explained that since
Mary gave birth to Christ, the son of God, then Mary gave birth to God.
The second dogma is the Perpetual Virginity. This dogma is that Mary was a virgin when she was
conceived and gave birth. We believe this because we know that Mary was conceived by the power
of the Holy Spirit only. We got this belief from the Church. They explained that Mary was a virgin

It is logical to assume that a firm wishing to sell more goods or service will drop its price. At a
lower price, the quantity demanded by consumers will increase (James Keith, 2008, p. 139). On the
other hand, non price competition is the strategy in which company uses to increase its market
share by offering such quality of goods or service, customer focus, or other sustainable competitive
benefit other than price. This strategy is such brand management, advertising, or sales promotion
(Brue McConnell, 2002).
With the price competition, when one firm lower its price to sell more goods or service, other
firms will match the fall in price in order to remain their market share. If the firms decide to
lower prices further, a price war will be happened and it results in firms bankruptcy (James
Keith, 2008). Firms will engage in non price competition, in spite of the additional costs
involved, because it is usually more profitable than selling for a lower price, and avoids the risk
of a price war (Brue McConnell, 2002). This is the reason why some firms prefer to use non price
competition rather than price competition.
Three different ways in which Airlines compete for their market share: вќ– Price leadership: This is
a type of collusion which Airline industry uses to avoid the uncertainties of competition. This is
when one firm has the greatest market share and the firms with lower market shares follow the

Strategic Change
Introduction
There is indications that in the coming years the business environment will change more frequently,
with higher speed and with greater intensity than before. To remain competitive in the long run the
enterprises needs to meet these environmental changes. However, the changes in the environment
will become increasingly difficult to foresee. A multitude of managementconcepts has been
developed to provide managers with better receipts to meet this changing business environment and
the problems that arise (Pfeifer, Schmitt, Voigt, 2005). This challenges the enterprises to meet and
conquer upcoming situations with the, for their explicit situation, suitable strategy. What goals an

Therefore, the authors consider the design step as the most important. Design is the third step in the
model called, and here you should motivate, enable, brief and authorise people to pursue the change
and you should identify constraints for implementation. The fifth, and last, step will take you back
to the beginning of the process to complete the loop, this is the reinforcement step. Here it is
important to understand that this can continue several years after implementation of the strategy.
Environmental factors will decide if further strategy development is needed. The control loop will
hereby be closed and the process would have to be repeated, starting with the further development of
the vision (Pfeifer, Schmitt Voigt, 2005). We argue that this step makes the model applicable to the
earlier mentioned turbulent business environment. The change of strategy and their effect on the
structure and the routines in the company might not always go as planned. Kraatz and Zajac (2001)
present a study how organizational resources affect strategic change. They came up with different
perspectives on how and why human resources could affect organizations propensity to adapt
strategic change. When organizations make a strategic change due to an environmental shift, there
can be some dangers and traps. The authors refer to Leonard Barton (1992) who argues that core
competences can be core rigidities.

Essay On Advocacy Strategies
The advocacy strategy must be evaluated because advocacy often only provides results partially, an
advocacy team needs to measure and monitor regularly and objectively what has been
accomplished and what more important to be done. Primarily, evaluation is important in terms of
accountability means to examine whether a case can be made that an advocacy effort produced its
intended results and also to ensure the advocacy efforts are doing what they said they would do and
that the well managed resources. Another reason is informing decision making in terms of

WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR GMOs?
It has been no secret that one of the biggest contributors to GMO crops is Monsanto. This is the
same company responsible for Saccharin, Aspartame, DDT, Agent Orange, Bovine Growth
Hormone and Glyphosate. In addition, they are also responsible for PCBs (polychlorinated
biphenyls that were used for coolant fluids for electrical transformers, capacitors, and electric

Anniston, Alabama, who experienced severe health problems, including liver disease, neurological

Heroic Slave Rebel in Delaney s Blake or the Huts of America and Douglass Heroic Slave
The fundamental element of a successful slave rebellion is a heroic slave rebel. Madison
Washington of Frederick Douglass The Heroic Slave and Henry Blake of Martin Delany s Blake
or the Huts of America serve as models of that rebel. First, he must possess a will to stay and fight
he must not be content to just run away and gain individual freedom, abandoning his family and
friends. Second, he needs intelligence, and preferably education as well, to be able to organize
large, complex plans of rebellion. Finally, he must be a natural leader, drawing fellow slaves and
free abolitionists to follow him and fight for his cause. Throughout the novels, ... Show more

But, as Madison explained to Mr. Listwell, freedom is not complete for some while their loved
ones are still held by the bondage of slavery. Sir, I could not be free with the galling thought that
my poor wife was still a slave. With her in slavery, my body, not my spirit, was free (Douglass57).
The duty he felt towards his wife compelled Madison to travel back into the heart of the South to
rescue his wife and her fellow slaves, rather than remaining a runaway. Unfortunately for
Madison, his plan to aid his wife s escape failed and she was killed in the attempt. But, he knew
that he could not have continued life without at least attempting to gain her freedom. As he said
to Mr. Listwell, I could neither work, eat, nor sleep, till I resolved to hazard my own liberty, to
gain that of my wife! (56). The force of familial ties drove Madison back into slavery and to
rebellion. After his wife s death, Madison found himself once again a slave. He would lead a
rebellion in which he eventually gained his freedom, but he had no way of knowing that would
happen at the time he abandoned his freedom for the sake of her. Without this bond with his
family, Madison Washington would have just stayed a runaway and never would have become a
heroic slave rebel.
Similarly, Henry Blake, throughout the first half of Blake, successfully ran away to Canada. Instead
of traveling alone, Blake took with him Mammy Judy,

Apollandsian Vs Dionyysian
Friedrich Nietzsche believed that art fit into two categories: the Apollonian and the Dionysian, or
sometimes a combination of the two. The Apollonian consists of visual art and poetry, while the
Dionysian is music and dancing. But lyrical music, or poetry in music form, is a combination of
the two. Revenge of the Dadaists by The Agonist is this kind of song, as there is emphasis on
both the lyrics and the music. Within the lyrics is an indirect description of the wisdom of Silenus
and its reversal: where life is horrible and death is the end goal, but then art justifies life s problems
and eternal life is desired. The singer also sings in the first person, thus surrendering subjectivity
through the music. And the words imitate the sound... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But since lyrical music is a combination of both the Apollonian and the Dionysian, it is hard to
say which it supports. Even with the constant use of I throughout many songs, including
Revenge of the Dadaists, it s hard to say if this is the songwriter s voice, the singer s voice, or the
universal voice of humanity in general. Nietzsche says that In the first place, as Dionysian artist
he has identified himself with the Primal Unity, its pain and contradiction... Now, however, under
the Apollonian dream inspiration, this music reveals itself to him again as a symbolic dream
picture... The artist has already surrendered his subjectivity in the Dionysian process. The picture
which now shows him his identity with the heart of the world, is a dream scene, which embodies
the primordial contradiction and primordial pain, together with the primordial joy, of appearance
(511 512). In other words, despite the I used throughout the song, the fact that it is set to music
makes the I become part of the Dionysian, thus representing the whole world. So even while the
singer sings about personal issues, these problems become dreamlike and universal so anyone can
connect to them. Thus everyone knows and feels the singer s pain through contradiction. So in

When giving a film and evaluation it is obvious that acting, setting and plot would fit in every

Writing that is able to keep the audience concentrated through long dialogs and it also has its

The writing is really fluent in the sense that in each individual scene there s so much to like, and
the best part of it, is the fact that none of the direction or the writing ever seems forced, but quite
natural. The movie won t feel rushed out, it takes times for discussions to go through, the dialog

Achilles Shield In The Iliad
The Iliad tells many great mystical tales while also containing pieces of history. One of the greatest

Downtime refers to a period of time that a system fails to provide or perform its primary function.
The term is commonly applied to networks and servers. Server downtime, a period of time when the

The problem that arises most is memory errors, which happens 10 times out of the total 22. The
second utmost problem that arises is lockups, which occurred 6 times. Since the month of April has
4 weeks, Weekly virus scans occurred 4 times. Slow startup and manual restart occurred only once
per cause. The frequency distribution table can be used to construct a simple bar graph that
represents the data. The horizontal axis of the bar chart corresponds to the 5 problem experienced in
the frequency distribution table while the vertical axis corresponds to the frequency.
Following the frequency distribution and bar graph, further analysis must be done by using the last
set of data which is the downtime data. Downtime data is collected in minutes that vary from 10 to
60 minutes. Each occurrence out of the 22 has a certain number of downtime minutes. To make the
representations, explanations, calculations and analysis straightforward, the data is taken from the
April Server Downtime table then separated into the 5 cause categories and calculate each

The Murder Of Scottsboro Boys
In the United States in 1931, during America s Great Depression, nine African American boys
faced what is now known as one of America s most tragic trails in history. These young boys were
accused of raping two white girls while riding a train through Alabama. This accusation brought
forth a mob of white peoplein the town of Scottsboro. The boys spent years on trial for this. The
first trial was thought to have been the final convention, little did they know it was only the
beginning. A second trial was held for the nine boys that shook the entire nation. After the second
trial a third one was held after the judge suspected that the evidence was not properly examined.
The nine young boys, known as The Scottsboro Boys, spent their lives in and out of a courtroom
and in a cell for a crime that today is known to have never taken place. On March 31, 1931 nine
boys by the names of; Charles Weems, Clarence Norris, Ozie Powell, Olen Montgomery, Eugene
Williams, Willie Roberson, Haywood Patterson, Andy Wright and youngest of them all, Roy

Music Plays A Influence On My Life
Music plays a tremendous role in my life and always has. From the age of five, my parents
introduced to me to one particular type of music, which was gospel and it has been a part of who
I am ever since. I can remember waking up early on Sunday morning hearing gospel music from
artist such as Kim Burrell, Shirley Caesar, and Mary Mary. I began learning these particular gospel
songs and then I gained the courage to sing these songs in church. At that moment, I knew singing
was a passion of mine and musicbecame food to my soul. I would have to say the moment in my
life where I strongly became influenced by music was as a child between the ages of five and
twelve.
Then when I entered middle school, I joined the school band. I played two instruments, the
trombone and trumpet. Although I truly enjoyed playing those two instruments, I ve always
dreamed of playing the piano or violin but I never gained the opportunity to receive lessons. During
the seventh grade, I joined the Needwood Middle School Choir. We sung gospel music and
Christmas music during the holiday season. With gaining so much musical experience during my
time in Middle School, my church appointed me to Youth Choir Director for Salem St. John Baptist
Church.
Overall, I prefer Gospel music for so many different reasons. One of the reasons I prefer to listen
to Gospel music is because of the messages behind this type of music. God comes first and he
truly is the head of my life. As a Christian, by me listening to

followed the same pattern The Hero s Journey. In the 1940s, mythologist and writer Joseph
Campbell decided to analyze the mythic and archetypal principles embedded in the structure of
stories. Campbell s Book, The Hero with a Thousand Faces, identified similar patterns that most

Individualism And Transcendentalism Similarities
A city and a forest can be completely different, yet they can be of the closest of similarities.
However, transcendentalists believed that the forest is our home and the city is a shamed copy.
Transcendentalism started with Ralph Waldo Emerson. It mainly focused primarily upon being
different from everyone else and also about how nature is the primary source of life. Being out of
the ordinary and looking to nature almost as a godmother are some of the main points of
transcendentalism. The transcendentalists believed that we should not judge ourselves based upon

transcendentalists believed that nature supports us. Transcendentalists would agree with this belief
because they believed that nature provides life for all. Much like how the singer sang about how

the humans themselves have to go into advancements sometimes without the help of nature. But,

The Second Restatement Of Conflicts Of Law
A forum applies its own choice of law approach. So here North Montana will apply the Second
Restatement of Conflicts of Laws as the state follows that approach. Under the Second
Restatement, three main steps need to be considered: 1) whether the conflict is procedural or
substantive, 2) whether a choice of law provision in a contract should be applied, and 3) the
application of a choice of law rule. Here, it appears that the choice of law provision selecting Old
York should be applied because none of the exceptions to the general rule apply.
I.Procedural vs. Substantive Law
The first step under the Second Restatement approach is to determine whether a rule is rule is
procedural or substantive. If a rule is procedural than a forum will apply its own law. Courts
determine whether a law is substantive based on whether a section of the restatement classifies it as
substantive. Section 193 of the Second Restatement governs the validity of insurance contracts.
Here, the question is about the validity of a provision in an insurance contract, thus the Second
Restatement classifies this dispute as substantive, not procedural.
II.Choice of Law Provision
The second step under the Second Restatement is to consider any choice of law provisions within
the contract at issue. Here, the insurance contract has a choice of law provision that states [t]his
agreement is governed by the law of Old York. Under Section 187 of the Second Restatement,

The modern day controversies that have challenged the integrity of God s Word have necessitated
the question of whether fundamentalism was ever sanctioned and orchestrated by God. The Holy
Bible and historical reflection, and even, present day scientific data reveal that the origin of
fundamentalism and its ongoing transformation is in fact God s healthy apparatus to preserve the
integrity of the factual claims of Scripture. Thus, the rise of fundamentalism is God s manifestation
to combat such spiritual apparitions as higher criticism and the contamination of the world s social
gospel.
The Rise of Fundamentalism Church history reveals that a number of serious biblical doctrinal
controversies occurred during the late 1800s and early 1900s that gave occasion for the formulation
of certain fundamentalist principals to be implemented as a clarification and remedy against
unbiblical manifestations. The authority of the Bible was brought into serious question. During the
years of 1910 1915 a Protestant layman, Lyman Stewart brought the word fundamentalism into
focus in his effort to champion the integrity of Scripture. Mr. Stewart produced a series of
pamphlets that were called The Fundamentals. 3 Lyman Stewart advocated for a literal

mentally development. Of course here an opponent might validly argue that men must take the
dominant role and provide authority due to the idea: women report more intense and persistent
anger than do men (88:1546). However, even though it is true that women are more susceptible to
revealing their emotions; women are just as capable as men to run their lives in a constructive,
healthy way. Polygynist men have hidden behind the blanket of religion to justify their male
supremacy and dismantle the strength and equality of women in a whole.
Many women in polygynist relationships tend to hide their feelings, but why? Daphne Braham
writes [women are] taught to suppress [these] emotions and to put all their energy into obeying the
word of their prophet. (17) Therefore, any thoughts of resentment, jealousy or so forth are not
acceptable. When a man has so many wives they have no choice but to be submissive if they want
to avoid being left out; because the husband can turn to another one of his wives to get what he

A Summary Of Peyton s Murder Case
I have researched a case that had happened here in my own town not long ago a good man we
called (Pops) was shot and killed. I am very familiar with this whole case and the news does not
tell the whole story. Kegerran Peyton and Darion Watts was caught on camera walking into the
store a number of times, then the third time Peyton walked into the store and put a hundred
dollar bill on the counter and asked to buy a pack of cigarettes, when Nilkanth Patil turned to get
the pack of Newport s Peyton pulled a gun from his waist line and shot Patil in cold blood in the
back of the neck, then turned and shot another person that was in the store he was taking to
Hattiesburg hospital and later released. I was not working at the Sheriff s office at

Nordstrom: Dissension in the Ranks?
(1) What problems does Nordstrom s evaluation/compensation system have? Think about this
question while considering the objectives of the company s evaluation/compensation system, what
measures it took, and what happened as a result. A. Nordstrom was renowned for its superior
customer service that was the result of the exceptional customer service efforts (or heroics ) put by
their salespeople. So in order to retain their competitive advantage of superior customer service in
the highly competitive retailing market, they designed a evaluation/compensation system that had
the following objectives: (1) To support its high service strategy, and (2) To motivate its sales
employees. They tried to evaluate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They would also avoid helping their associates to keep them from getting the good SPH ratios.
This created a culture of cutthroat competition. (2) Poor differentiation of Selling and Non
Selling time There was a lack of clear differentiation of Selling and Non Selling time. Employees
were not clear about recording time spent in activities such as hand deliveries, merchandise
preparation, sales promotion and customer correspondence, etc. as Selling or Non Selling time. If
they recorded it as Non Selling work time, they were entitled to the guaranteed base wage with no
effect in their SPH. However, if they recorded it as Selling work time, their SPH would be low.
The evidence of this ambiguity in defining the Selling and Non Selling time is presented by the fact
that the Nordstrom family had to issue the Internal Memo Differentiating Selling vs. Non Selling
Time amidst the labor disputes crisis in mid 1989. (3) No evaluation/compensation service
/satisfaction of work time related to customer
There was no evaluation/compensation of work time related to activities for improving customer
service/satisfaction such as home deliveries, calling up valued customers

informing them of newly arriving merchandises, helping customers with their sales, writing thank
you notes, etc. So the system lacked in providing motivation for employees to perform such
activities and also did not compensate the employees

  • 2. The And New England Colonies Everyone has an external force that motivates them in some way that allows them to be able to go about their everyday lives and fulfill their ambitions. Within the years of 1580 and 1763 this force took the form of God. Around this same time was when the Chesapeake and New England colonies were in the process of being founded. As a result, these two settlements did nothing without referencing their actions to God. Due to this heavy focus on God as the reason behind every aspect of their lives, chaos began to sprout soon after the settlers began settling and started living their new lives in the colonies. Since the colonist believed that God dictated their entire lives; they never felt that they were in the wrong. Not once did the colonists stop to think that they had no right to steal the natives land. If God had not smitten them, then they thought that God approved of what they were doing. In this case, the colonists were in the process of acquiring land that the earth bringeth foorth all things in aboundance, as in the first creation, without toile or labour... the most plentifull, sweete, fruitfull, and wholesome [soil] of all the world . The new land that the colonists wanted to take appeared similar to the Garden of Eden. Since they successfully made their voyage to the new land, it looked as if God allowed them to enter a land similar to one of his own. If God gave the colonists access to the land, then wouldn t that mean that the colonists were entitled to the land ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Prohibition and the Mafia Essay The prohibition caused much controversy in the 1920 s. The 18th amendment was passed on Jan 16, 1920, it said in Title II, Section 3 the National Prohibition Act states that No person shall on or after the date when the 18th Amendment to the Constitution of the United States goes into effect, manufacture, sell, barter, transport, import, export, deliver, furnish or possess any intoxicating liquor except as authorized in this act. (United States constitution). The Prohibition opened up many big business opportunities in the illegal marketing of alcohol. The people who took advantage of this opportunity were known as Bootleggers . With the enactment of this law organized crime was established, allowing men such as Al Capone to capitalize... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With everyone wanting and buying alcohol it increased the demand for it, which is when organized crime started. Once the organized crime families were established they were the main contributors to the illegal Bootlegging of alcohol. During the 20 s there was a great deal of violent crimes. Most of them could be connected back to the organized crime families. Alphonse Gabriel Al Capone was a gangster who led illegal activities such as the smuggling and the bootlegging of alcohol during the prohibition. Even though he had a tough exterior he was a caring man he was the first to open up a soup kitchen in Chicago (hammer). Capone s estimated annual revenue was around 100 million dollars. This is the first joke that he tells in the play, showing that he is not serious throughout time. He also shows much fear when he meets the three soldiers, saying to Williams, Though I speak it to you,/ I think the King is but a man as I am (4.1.98 9) With the word though, the king is in fact implying that I should not say so. This is not only because it is contradictory to condemn himself, but also because he believes that a king should not show any cowardice. The problem in scientific creationism, and what I see as a reason for its exclusion from the science classroom in public schools, is the fact that it looks as if, from the outside, the whole theory that it rest on is simply a contortion of the traditional version of creation described in Genesis, custom made to fit in with Darwin s theory of evolution. R. M. Hare would probably say that scientific creationism is simply a modification of the story of creation in Genesis, to fit into the Г’blikГ“ of the religious fundamentalist. A blik, as Hare describes it, is a pre set worldview held by all people, in which they draw from when forming certain opinions on any particular subject. In the case of religious fundamentalist, whose faith in the validity of the Book of Genesis is an essential part of their blik, it becomes necessary for them to contort their literal view of the Book of Genesis into a form that is scientifically acceptable. For this reason, creation science still does not have a place in the science classroom of public schools. Another problem with scientific creationism is that it would exclude the idea of a random beginning. No theory could ever be tested to find origins because it would conflict with scientific creationism. Scientific creationism would be, in essence, a lesson on science halting efforts to find creation, if it is possible at all. It may, however, be acceptable as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the West, the topic of sex is extremely taboo. Public displays of affection or lustful words are considered sinful. When Captain James Cook sailed to this area, many of his men participated in debauchery with the exotic women. In this situation, the men had absolutely no respect for the Islander dwellers. The culture was to their liking, therefore they borrowed it for a little while. If there was any real respect for these people, the Western men would have tried to to accept more pieces of it, instead of the parts that gave them pleasure. In Blue Latitudes, when the Natives took the belongings of the crew, Cook planned to do what he had done many times before in the Pacific: seize a chief and hold him until stolen goods were returned (Horwitz 405). Retaining competitive advantage is a constant preoccupation for all companies. Millions of words have been written purporting to identify the principles and practices most likely to enable firms to gain competitive advantage and, thereby, enjoy superior profit margins. Despite all this study, management remains a testing ground where theory, experience, judgment and, sometimes, luck play a role. According to Glenn (2009), approximately 90 per cent of senior executives who took a survey by The Economist s Magazine Intelligence Unit understand that their organizations have to be agile to thrive in the marketplace. A story that would transcend different social classes, ranks, genders, and ethnic groups. The book covers lifestyles from the life of luxuries led by Taihe, the Chinese princess and the years of hardship of Seg Lahton, a Tibetan soldier. • 15. Analysis Of The Poem The Chimney Sweeper Blake s poem The Chimney Sweeper is considered to be one of his finest, yet contradictory works of his life, as he provides a negative social perspective on the topic of child labour. Assisted through the use of various poetic techniques such as anecdotes, biblical illusion, symbolism, euphemism, metaphors, and rhyme, Blake was able to assertively convey his protest towards the laws against the use of young children in the British workforce. The theme of child innocence is also the other main explored topic throughout this poem, as it is also in a majority of Blake s writing, as well as a common subject touched on by a majority of The Romantics. The first stanza of the poem highlights how the children that were apprenticed by their parents to sweepers were of such a young age, historically documented to be as young as 5 years old. This is demonstrated by the line my father sold me while yet my tongue, Could scarcely cry weep! weep! weep! weep! this stanza protesting social issues such as child labour as well as involuntary servitude. Blake is able to express this point more effectively through anecdotes, as Blake describes the life of a boy, the narrator, whose mother dies at an early age and is then sold into chimneysweeping by his father. Imagery is another technique used, as the narrator not metaphorically, but literally, sleeps in/on the black soot he works in, as chimney sweepers were known to sleep on the bags of soot they swept during the day. It is logical to assume that a firm wishing to sell more goods or service will drop its price. At a lower price, the quantity demanded by consumers will increase (James Keith, 2008, p. 139). On the other hand, non price competition is the strategy in which company uses to increase its market share by offering such quality of goods or service, customer focus, or other sustainable competitive benefit other than price. This strategy is such brand management, advertising, or sales promotion (Brue McConnell, 2002). With the price competition, when one firm lower its price to sell more goods or service, other firms will match the fall in price in order to remain their market share. If the firms decide to lower prices further, a price war will be happened and it results in firms bankruptcy (James Keith, 2008). Firms will engage in non price competition, in spite of the additional costs involved, because it is usually more profitable than selling for a lower price, and avoids the risk of a price war (Brue McConnell, 2002). Nietzsche says that In the first place, as Dionysian artist he has identified himself with the Primal Unity, its pain and contradiction... Now, however, under the Apollonian dream inspiration, this music reveals itself to him again as a symbolic dream picture... The artist has already surrendered his subjectivity in the Dionysian process. The picture which now shows him his identity with the heart of the world, is a dream scene, which embodies the primordial contradiction and primordial pain, together with the primordial joy, of appearance (511 512). In other words, despite the I used throughout the song, the fact that it is set to music makes the I become part of the Dionysian, thus representing the whole world. So even while the singer sings about personal issues, these problems become dreamlike and universal so anyone can connect to them. Thus everyone knows and feels the singer s pain through contradiction. So in Revenge of the Dadaists, the lyrics You leave footsteps of fire / So no one can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Crime movies often move slowly, they build up suspense and situations and they give you a bone here and there so you don t get bored and stay until the climax of the story. Pulp Fiction is unique, it s wonderfully written so each line fits on the designated actor. The story continues on and on with always interesting dialogs. The story takes its wild turns, one more unexpected than the last one. Moments that will take you by surprise are bound to happen. The writing is really fluent in the sense that in each individual scene there s so much to like, and the best part of it, is the fact that none of the direction or the writing ever seems forced, but quite natural. The movie won t feel rushed out, it takes times for discussions to go through, the dialog aren t always attached to what the whole idea of the movie. Under the Second Restatement, three main steps need to be considered: 1) whether the conflict is procedural or substantive, 2) whether a choice of law provision in a contract should be applied, and 3) the application of a choice of law rule. Here, it appears that the choice of law provision selecting Old York should be applied because none of the exceptions to the general rule apply. I.Procedural vs. Substantive Law The first step under the Second Restatement approach is to determine whether a rule is rule is procedural or substantive. If a rule is procedural than a forum will apply its own law. Courts determine whether a law is substantive based on whether a section of the restatement classifies it as substantive. Section 193 of the Second Restatement governs the validity of insurance contracts.
