It analyzes how Faulkner uses symbols like the rose, Homer, and Emily herself to represent abstract ideas and hide messages about a woman whose life is surrounded by mysteries after her father's death. Symbols are used to represent the authors' hidden messages and hints within the stories.

2. Introduction. Historically Black Colleges And Universities
Introduction
Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) are experiencing low retention rates with first
generation college students. The students are not graduating within a four to six year enrollment
period, and or are not returning after their freshmen year. As the American workforce looks to colleges
and universities to fulfill the workforce pipeline with educated diverse workers, HBCUs are in the
spotlight to produce qualified minority graduates. Moreover, HBCU s are looking to refine their
methods of inclusion and buy in, this will in turn manifest a higher level of retention amongst first
generation college students.

HBCUs were originally created to educate and uplift African Americans to the same levels of success
and their other racial counterparts. The institutions were created to afford all African American
students, the same chance and opportunities to reach academic and social success. They were created
in times within history, when African Americans could not enroll in traditionally white post secondary
institutions. Currently, there are 105 diverse HBCUs (insert source for information). Each institution
has distinct missions and rich legacies. They vary in size, enrollment, financial creditability and
stability, curriculum and degree programming as well as, operational effectiveness (Hibel, n.d.).
HBCUs serve some students who would not normally be accepted into other institutions because of

Higher education in America is facing many challenges, i.e., low retention, low graduation rates and

In order to do so, students must remain in school (Talbert, 2012). The Office of the White House states

3. The Concept and History of Cryptography
Jpz777 05/15/2013 Order # A2096310 From the codes messages passed furtively throughout the
courts of medieval Europe, to the infamous Enigma cipher machine which protected Nazi secrets in
World War II, the concept of cryptography is nearly as old as the written word itself. Today, the field
of information technology has developed to the point that even the most sophisticated encryption
methods are vulnerable, and for those working as information security officers, shielding a company s
invaluable data through the use of encryption has become an essential skill. Modern encryption
methods rely on much of the same techniques used throughout history, with human readable plaintext
being transformed into an unreadable format known as ciphertext upon transmission between two
parties, in effort to prevent nefarious third party intrusions. Within the sub field of cryptanalysis a
growing focus on mathematical theory has spawned the development of intricately constructed
algorithms, or governing systems used to precisely define a sequence of operations (Layton, 2007).
Modern cryptographic algorithms are capable of creating computationally secured systems that, while
they can be theoretically deciphered, are ostensibly secure from any feasible attack strategy. The most
widely applied cryptographic algorithms employed by information security officers today typically
fall under one of two categories: Symmetric key cryptography and Public key cryptography (Peltier,

4. What Is Grounded Theory ( Glaser And Strauss )
1. Method
We use a single case study methodology to focus on a failed IS project implementation. The study
uses grounded theory (Glaser and Strauss 1967; c.f., Charmaz 2013; c.f., Corbin and Strauss 2015) in
its focus on principles of emergence by which systematic generation and conceptualization of data
provides meaning and relevance to concepts (Glaser and Strauss 1967). In accordance with the
recommendations of engaged scholarship by Van de Ven (2007), the project began with the
identification of a research problem identified to be relevant to experienced practitioners in leading
organizations of IT project management. To develop a base understanding of the challenges
experienced in the execution of IT projects, we engaged informally with key industry informants.
Observations made in this stage were used to inform the specific research objectives and question put
forth in the Introduction. Specifically, observations were used as data that was conceptualized based
on theoretical sensitivity in line with grounded theory (Glaser 1978; Strauss and Corbin 1990). Data
complexity was used in the early stages of the research to allow the relevant themes and findings to
emerge from the data and to avoid forcing the data to fit existing theories (Urquhart 2013). The
conceptual development aspect of grounded theory allows us to discover theory from the data and
identify the theories and tenets within that are applicable to IT contexts of interest (Jabareen 2009;

5. Case Study On Refactoring
Survey of Software Refactoring Summary: The paper published by Tom Mens and Tom Tourwe
provides us an overview of existing research in software refactoring. The refactoring activities,
techniques, formalisms and the types of artifacts are taken into criteria. Since the software has been
evolving with time, the code has become more complex, hence the software development cost s major
part is given to software maintenance. Refactoring or restructuring is the problem which implies the
need of techniques that reduce software complexity by improving software quality. Refactoring is the
process of changing a software system in such a way that it does not alter the external behavior of the
code, yet improves its internal structure . The classes, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Here, automation, reliability, configurability, coverage and scalability or refactoring tools are
considered. Process Support: Software reengineering is important to restructure the old software,
which is essentially done by refactoring method. Evolution conflicts arise when parallel refactoring is
done. Same is the case with object oriented application frameworks, software families/ product line.
Critique: Firstly, refactoring cannot be applied for the codes written in non object oriented languages.
Secondly, refactoring cannot be done for the processes with less delivery time, this is because
refactoring requires considerable amount of time for testing. Thirdly, the refactoring process fails even
though it does not alter the behavior of the program. Next, the refactoring process depends on the
complexity of code and the errors and the design of the code. Refactoring won t be a good idea for
very complex codes. When the refactoring process is applied to a complex and high error code, the
rate of success is too low. The entire system is affected due to the loss of so much time and the cost
invested on the refactoring

to not fight each other in war and share Poland and other European countries. Three million Axis

8. My Writing Techniques
During this semester in Writing Workshop, I learned many writing techniques that helped improve my
writing. I learned how to research topics effectively and use scholarly sources instead of popular
sources. I learned how to conduct an interview and developed problem solving skills. All of these
techniques helped me develop my final solution to the issue I chose to research. In high school, when
my teacher told me to research a topic and write an essay on it, I would go to Google and type in the
topic. Once Google provided me with millions of hits, I usually chose the first one and used it. Also, I
would use Wikipedia. Wikipedia contains information about topics, but people can edit those pages
and put false information. At the beginning of my second semester, I started to learn about scholarly
sources. Scholarly sources usually come from an expert or doctor. These experts and doctors take the
time to research the topic and provide it to the public. Using scholarly sources helps improve your

9. Military Ethics And The Military
Military ethics encompass a wide range of things. In the contemporary world, military ethics include
all facets of military behavior, from issuing regular reviews on juniors to relations of those in the
military with civilians to matters related to war. Currently, the world has witnessed technological
advancements in various sectors including the military. Indeed, battles between different nations have
become dominated by highly advanced weaponry especially when developed nations are involved. It
is these developments that have raised concerns over the use of highly sophisticated and deadly
weapons. Military ethics dictate how certain weapons should be used and circumstances under which
the military can use lethal force. Different nations ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Military ethics, therefore, serve to ensure that only weapons that are universally accepted are used in
war (Gale, 2016). One fundamental principle of just war customs refers to efforts to make war as
compassionate as probable even for the military personnel. The Geneva resolution principles require
that soldiers who lay down their arms during battles be eligible for benevolent confinement by their
imprisoners. The captors are needed to provide them with food, medical care, and housing. Underlying
these ethics is the commonly shared belief that fighter is an impermanent status overriding an essential
common humanity of rivals. Humanitarian concerns over soldiers in the traditional military morals is
demonstrated by attempts to do away with weapons considered to be inhumane. Such efforts began
when the medieval church banned the crossbow since it was perceived to be too accurate and lethal
over long distances. Current world leaders and military leaders have categorized blinding lasers,
hollow point bullets, and the asphyxiating gas as unethical classes of technology that should not be
employed in war. Besides dictating how the military as a whole should conduct itself, military ethics
govern how military personnel should behave. Rules of conduct provide guidelines to those in the
military on standards of behavioral ethics. Those found culpable of violating the ethics are liable for
prosecution under the uniform code of military justice.

Since the birth of literature, academics and authors alike have been relentlessly trying to leave their
written mark on history. Now whether they did so with intellect or with style was dependent on their
work but nevertheless, few have been able to master both as passionately as Stephen Jay Gould.
Dedicated to the intelligent layperson, Dr.Gould uses his art to stimulate the minds of average people
by simplifying complex concepts through an approachable and easily essional. In doing so, Gould

Gould s armory of devices, and arguably one of his most famed, is his calculated use of out of text
connections. As mentioned before, the pinnacle focus of Gould s writings is to incorporate the
everyday person, however educated, into the world of science. In doings so, Gould uses
understandable language and simple diction to convey elaborate ideas to his audience, but his most
effective tactic is his connecting of the topic to commonly known events or concepts relevant to the
essay. For example, in Flaws in a Victorian Veil, Gould parallels the belief that races need to be
separated due to their inferiority, with the famed court case Plessy vs. Ferguson ruling of separate but
equal . By including this connection, Gould demonstrates to the audience that even though this idea is
now widely unaccepted, there was a legitimate legal ruling which ratified this idea regardless of its
ridiculousness. However, following this statement Gould brings the reader into a deeper understanding
of the situation as he includes the subsequent court ruling of Brown vs. the Topeka Board of
Education, which stated that a group in power always conflates separation with superiority . By giving
this additional connection, Gould connects the audience with the true underlying reasoning behind the
ideology of genetic inferiority,

Rape Fantasies: Female Victimization
Margaret Atwood¡¦s ¡§Rape Fantasies¡¨, a monologue of a woman discus her concern about the topic
of rape, demonstrates the power struggle between men and women and how female are victimized by
the society. Furthermore, Atwood talks about the importance of having ¡§voice¡¨ as a power or
solution to victimization.
In the story, there is an exploration of female vulnerability, and victimization in the rape fantasies.

Therefore, the imagined rapists fail to rape Estelle as there is sharing and emotional communication
between both sexes. Although the society is changing, female are still burdened by the social
inequalities and rules. They have the right to reject all the inequalities by speaking out, saying ¡§no¡¨,
but most of the female fail to do that. Likewise, the issue of power is also concerned in ¡§Where are
you going? Where have you been?¡¨. In the final scene of it, Arnold gains domination in his talking
while Connie only makes short sentences. He uses psychological manipulation to threat Connie who
fails to find any ways to resist that she surrenders and satisfies the desires of the man. Connie fails to
find her ¡§voice¡¨ to fight the threat. Voice is very important to female. So Atwood emphasizes the
idea of communication in her story to demonstrate that there is an equal share of power between men
and women if both sides talk and listen to each other. Through talking and listening, men and women
can come to understand one another. Thus, crime and pain can be avoided due to the mutual sympathy.
Women can never fight their humiliating figure under the domination of men with their physical
strength because it is not comparable to man. Voice is the solution to victimization. If a woman cannot
find her voice, she can only end up to be a stereotyping woman who is being treated

12. How Technology Is Becoming More Widespread
These days technology is becoming more widespread. The question is are we still reading as
attentively and thoroughly as we used to due to these new portable ways of reading. The main issue
here is that our attention is divided between pixels and link as our brains respond differently to
onscreen text than to words on paper. There have been many published studies since 1980 s where
researchers from different fields like psychology, computer engineering and information science have
brought up such issues in more than one hundred published studies. Many of these studies done before
1992, always concluded that people read slowly, less accurately and less comprehensively on screens
than on paper. In recent studies, it shows that people still like to read from paper especially when they
want to read intensively. Although the e reading technology is gaining more popularity and becoming
more common, people s attitudes are changing. They read these books for facts and fun. In the US,
there is about 15 to 20 percent of all trade book sales (Jabr, 2013). People are known to be less
conducive to learning from computers and tablets as compared to paper. Reading has a physicality.
When we already have an e book we start to miss it. There was a study done in January 2013 by Anne

students with similar reading ability to study one narrative and one expository text. Each essay was

tarantulas in USPS regulations. In short (and upon request I can provide citations, references and

Although a small percentage of pet sales overall, the tarantula hobby as we know it depends on the
ability of the pet trade and our favorite exotic animal dealers to ship animals to us safely and
inexpensively on demand. Those of us participating in arthropod breeding projects, educational
endeavors, and private research rely upon the postal system to ship male and female specimens of rare
species. If there were no means to transport our animals safely and cheaply around the country the
entire infrastructure of the hobby would collapse, bringing down small business owners as well. So, a
part of this proposal to change existing regulations in favor of shipping tarantulas is meant to ensure
that small businesses can continue to operate, educational/research projects can proceed, and captive
breeding of livestock may continue unobstructed as

Thomas wakes up in a metal box that rises him up from the underground to the land above known as
the Glade. He has no memory of anything, anyone, or even where he is. The only thing he remembers
is his name. Thomas, once discovering where he is and who these boys are around him he comes to
the realization of who is in charge of the place. It is led by two of the elder boys; Alby, the leader, and
Newt, the second in charge. Every week the box in the middle of the glade surfaces from beneath the
ground to supply the boys with new food, tools and weapons. But every month a new boy with no

each other before their arrival from the maze. Ever since she showed up she pulled the switch that
made everything in the Maze begin to change. Soon the sun disappears, the deliveries from the metal
box stop arriving, and the doors of the Maze stay open all night, which allows the Grievers to enter

cliff and come up each night then so can the gladers. Most of the Gladers decide to make a run for it

that staying in the Glade would lead to their death for

They did not heed Major Urquhart. The Medical Officer visited him shortly after his warning and sent
him on medical leave for stress. In addition, the 15th Army was not in full retreat and instead escaped
the Allied pursuit and arrived to engage along the route. The terrain and weather played an enormous
role in the failure of the operation. The plan for the armored advance required the XXXth Armored
Division to move the sixty five miles up a narrow two lane road bordered by farmland that had been
swampland in the past. The importance of this is that any incident that required the armor to leave the
road was especially time consuming due to the marshy conditions. This armored movement also

From the beginning, things went wrong for the division. During the transit to the landing zone two of
the gliders were lost, these gliders contained anti armor guns. Missing the landing zone, the British
soldiers landed too far from the bridges. The additional distance needed to reach the bridge allowed
the German defenders time to prepare. Despite this, the 1st Airborne Division was able to take the
northern end of the Arnhem Bridge. A combination of German preparation time and the lack of
sufficient British numbers prevented the capture of the Southern end of the bridge. This left the British
troops in between two forces. The second wave of airborne set to arrive the next day and reinforce the
assault were delayed. The predictions from the Allied Meteorologists proved optimistic and on
Monday 18th September, the weather effectively disrupted much of the air operations and the take off
of the second wave in England was delayed. The reinforcements did not arrive until much later in the
day and met a much larger German defense supported by Panzers. The 1st Airborne Division held the
north end of the bridge for six days before withdrawing. Weather delayed the third wave of support
until 23 September. The troops had only gone into the operation with 48 hours worth of ammunition
and food. Driven from Arnhem, the British troops received the order to withdraw across the Rhine

18. Timpani Research Paper
The timpani is a percussion instrument with the longest tradition. It s been used in a variety of music:
ranging from music to symbolize the power of monarchs to church music. The tuning of the
instrument has changed throughout it s lifespan. First from not being able to tune them at all, to having
large, awkward screws, to having an operating pedal on the bottom to change the tension of the head
(Tucmandl). The way performers tune this drum has always been improved, making it easier on the
performer when on stage. The next step to improve the efficiency of tuning was made with a new way
to tune, with electronics. Recently, inventor David Byrd Ribner has created a tuning and pitch control
system for the timpani. This makes it almost automatic, and also makes it extremely easier for a
timpanist to perform on the spot.
The control system uses a position sensor that specifies a reference value corresponding to a desired
timpani pitch. Then it uses a control unit applies a force on the timpani head, determining a deviation
between a measured pitch value ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Imagine the noodle and string as the pedal of the timpani head, where as it goes to the right the tension
of the head increases, which also creates a higher pitch, and the zone indicates the desired pitch. One
can see the difficulty of the pitch changes by trying to quickly flick the noodle in the zone with their
eyes closed, just like trying to tune a timpani to a desired range without knowing what the current
pitch is, with only one chance for perfection. After a few times, it becomes easier as one knows the
zone more. With the device, one can see the comparison by flicking with their eyes open, and also
having two chances to flick it, since the device tells the timpanist what the pitch is and also how they
need to change the pedal. This creates the obvious simplicity the device makes to the timpanist,
especially when

19th Century Industrialization Nineteenth Century Industrialization During the second half of the
nineteenth century, the United States experienced an urban revolution unparalleled in world history up
to that point in time. As factories, mines, and mills sprouted out across the map, cities grew up around
them. The late nineteenth century, declared an economist in 1889, was not only the age of cities, but
the age of great cities. Between 1860 and 1910, the urban population grew from 6 million to 44

lived in urban areas. The rise of big cities during the nineteenth century created a distinctive urban

immigration down to a negligible level. (Tindall, 938) Immigrants thought of America as a land of

The history of film began in the 1890s, when motion picture cameras were invented and film
production companies started to be established. Because of the limits of technology, films of the 1890s
were under a minute long and until 1927 motion pictures were produced without sound. The first
decade of motion picture saw film moving from a novelty to an established large scale entertainment
industry. The films became several minutes long consisting of several shots. The first rotating camera
for taking panning shots was built in 1897. The first film studios were built in 1897. Special effects
were introduced and film continuity, involving action moving from one sequence into another, began
to be used. In the 1900s, continuity of action across successive shots was achieved and the first close
up shot was introduced . Most films of this period were what came to be called chase films . The first
use of animation in movies was in 1899. The first feature length multi reel film was a 1906 Australian
production. The first successful permanent theatre showing only films was The Nickelodeon in
Pittsburgh in 1905. By 1910, actors began to receive screen credit for their roles, and the way to the
creation of film stars was opened. Regular newsreels were exhibited from 1910 and soon became a
popular way for finding out the news. Overall, from about 1910, American films had the largest share
of the market in Australia and in all European countries except France.

In this report we are going to discuss about the Rolls Royce Limited which exports aero engines to
US. In 1978 and 1979 to maintain the export sales and won huge engine contracts Rolls Royce entered
in contracts that were fixed in the dollars. While entering into the contracts exchange rate was about
$1.80 for one pound and expected to fall over $1.65 so they did not cover their dollar cover exposure.
By the end of 1979 £ 1 = $2.12. So Rolls Royce suffered loss of £58 million in 1979 in spite of
increased sales because Rolls Royce s operating costs (wages, components and debt servicing) are
incurred in sterling. Appreciation of home country resulted in foreign exchange risk and economic
exposure. So here in this report we are providing the factors that led to the economic exposure and
inflation affect on the company. We are providing various financial and non financial alternatives that
Rolls Royce should consider while entering in the contract to eliminate or reduce the Exchange risk.

24. What Is The Importance Of African Music
Spencer Rubinoff
History of Africa
12/4/17
African Music
African Music Traditionally, music has played a very important role in Africa s culture and history. If
you observe any part of the culture you can see that music is essential in representing their heritage.
Unlike most cultures today, ancient African cultures brought music into their lives every day. Music
also helps with African story telling, dance, and even religious practices. Music is especially important
for African dance because in some cultures there is not even a spoken language, they tell their stories
through songs and dance. When discussing the impact of music in Africa it is important to also
mention the power of dance as well.
In the African culture, music and dance mean so much more than just something done for a good time,
it has a much greater purpose. In the African culture, a dance is usually done by a group and usually
for a specific purpose. That being said, having a group of people means that these tribes run with
utilitarianism. The idea of Utilitarianism suggests that the value of a thing depends on its use, and not
its beauty. In many ways, African music is a utilitarian function used in vital aspects of life such as, a
child s naming ceremony (The Importance of Music in the African Culture: More Than Just a song).

religious ceremonies and ceremonies for the dead. Indigenous tribe s

1. INTRODUCTION
As an old adage goes, When the US gets a Cold, the rest of the World gets Pneumonia , in the globally
open economy.
One reason for this might be that Stock Market depends on the overall health of the Economy, and real
Economic variables which tend to display persistence. Therefore, an interesting question in finance is:
what derives stock market volatility? Understanding the nature of stock market volatility gives some
important implications for policy makers, economic forecasters and investors.
Studying the impact of MacroEconomic factors such as Inflation, Interest Rate, Dollar Value and FII

Inflation is bound to impact all sectors, either directly or indirectly. Inflation and stock market have a
very close association. If there is inflation, stock markets are the worst affected.
Relationship Between Inflation and the Stock Market
There is no one to one correlation between the Stock Market and Inflation. Typically, most investors
stay away from the stock market when inflation goes up. This is because prices of shares along with
the prices of everything else go up without any corresponding increase in intrinsic value. Such a bull
phase soon leads to a market correction due to many investors deciding to realise profits.
Inflation and stock market the logistics:
Prices of stocks are determined by the net earnings of a company. It depends on how much profit, the
company is likely to make in the long run or the near future. If it is reckoned that a company is likely
to do well in the years to come, the stock prices of the company will escalate. On the other hand, if it
is observed from trends that the company may not do well in the long run, the stock prices will not be
high. In other words, the price of stocks is directly proportional to the performance of the company. In
the event when inflation increases, the company earnings (worth) will also subside. This will
adversely affect the stock prices and eventually the returns.
Effect of inflation on stock market is also evident from the fact

The first flushing toilet in recorded history was owned by King Menos of Crete over 2,800 years ago.

the rich homeowners and higher class hoteliers had indoor plumbing.
In 1910, toilet designs started evolving into something more like the modern day toilet. Gone were the
days of the elevated water tank, to make way for the close tank and bowl.
Packaged toilet paper is an American invention. In 1857, American Joseph Gayetty inventer, what he

My one of my two issue s with The Curse of Sleeping Beauty is that it s a bit to slow to get going.
Though once it got going it was great. My other being the predictability of what s going to happen.
Maybe I m just jaded from seeing to many horror films over the years, but I saw the twist from about

was entertaining and I don t consider watching a complete waste of time. The visuals are nice, the
pacing is solid and it has a great dread location that is dripping with atmosphere. Would I recommend
it? Yes, I just recommend going into with an open mind and a six pack.

sensitization tests. According to the official Corrositex website, Corrositex is used to determine the
dermal corrosive potential of chemicals and chemical mixtures. This skin like subject is a substitute

live animal testing is the Bovine Corneal Opacity/Permeability assay, which substitutes for eye Draize

testing on animals can be very expensive. However, when you compare the prices of animal testing to

33. A Brief Biography of William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare, the man of many artistic talents, is still quite a mysterious figure in today s
world, mainly because of the lack of records on this man; but also because of his writings. According
to what little the Holy Trinity Church had documented on William Shakespeare, the legal and business
transactions including some theatrical and Court documents as well as his life s work, can be used to

that he lived in was like.
Elizabethan England Era, or the Golden Age in England, started in 1558 when Queen Elizabeth
succeeded her Catholic sister Mary I and re established the Protestant Anglican Church. During this
Era William Shakespeare was born in Stratford upon Avon on April 23, 1564 to a John Shakespeare, a

34. Heidegger s Relationship Between Poetry And Poetry
In the words of Heidegger, the poem is a vortex that snatches us away not gradually, but suddenly, and
thus we are drawn into a conversation. Understanding of poetry is essential to Heidegger s philosophy.
There are two notions, which seem to stand at opposite poles, which are poetry and technology. They
seem to be opposed forms of truth. In modern civilization, we see the world through our technology,
but there was a time when the truth was seen through poetry.
Holderlin (1770 1843) a symbol of the German Romantic Movement had a great impact on Heidegger
s poetic thinking. In his various treatises, Heidegger clarifies his intent in studying thought through
poetry and to enter into the truth of the poems studied. Heidegger believed that language ... Show

We have to use the same language for everyday life and to describe the essence of beings. Poetry can
answer this difficulty, a standing as a golden mean between familiar language and deep language.
There is a difference in the mental effort we exert when we read a common novel and a sophisticated
poem. Poetic language uses uncommon terms and this makes us think deeply about the words, as
compared to common speech. Philosophy is a fruitful field, but Heidegger wanted to recognize some
of its weaknesses that are related to the language we use that often conceals as much as it reveals. Our
task is to let things be and to uncover them. Poetry is a powerful vehicle for

35. So Mexicans Are Taking Jobs From Americans By Jimmy...
In So Mexicans are Taking Jobs from Americans, Jimmy Santiago Baca defends Mexicans against the
opinion many Americans have about them filling in jobs they do not want such as hard working labor
in the fields. However, many Americans don t realize that these Mexican workers are usually paid less
than an American would be paid. In the beginning of the poem Baca addresses the American
stereotype of Mexicans taking jobs from Americans in a very sarcastic manner. He continues by
saying that Mexicans are not taking their jobs, and explains how Mexicans come to America to try to
make a living for their family, which they are not able to get in Mexico. The poem is full of
symbolism to illustrate the misinterpretation Americans have towards ... Show more content on

He uses different types of figurative language to portray the way that Americans talk about Mexicans.
Baca then continues the poem using personification by saying Even on TV, an asthmatic leader (12).
He is describing the leader then later says crawls turtle heavy, leaning on an assistant (13), talking
about possibly an older man, the leader s assistant , a nest of wrinkles on his face (14), this reassures
that it is in fact an older man speaking. The personification continues in his next lines, a tongue
paddles through flashing waves of lightbulbs, of cameraman, rasping (15 16). He says rasping... They
re taking our jobs away (16 17) implying that in fact Americans are talking and saying Mexicans are
taking jobs from them. Then in line 18 he describes how he has not been able to find those Mexicans
that are trying to take jobs from Americans. He says, I ve gone about trying to find them .
He continues to say, where the hell are these fighters (19), the ones he has not been able to find, and
then points the insincerity and irony of Americans that he finds instead. Baca describes American s as
hypocrites by saying, the rifles I hear sound in the night are white farmers shooting blacks and browns
(20 21). He states that it is not Mexicans who threaten Americans, it is them who are shooting and
killing their own people. It is whites killing blacks

People with college degrees are paid 80% more than people with only a high school education. When
the college degree is from a more prestigious school, that percentage increases even further
(McArdle). Even President Barack Obama acknowledged this in a 2012 speech, saying that The
incomes of folks with a college degree are twice as high as those who don t have a high school

college is not a positive. The price of goods has risen due to inflation over the past decade, but during

Not only is college becoming more common, but it would make sense that with more students coming
into college that the rates would be lower. However, colleges are not decreasing costs, but instead
increasing them, making tuition costs harder on students. The job market is evolving, causing college
to be essential to anyone that wants to pursue a job. In a 2012 speech, President Barack Obama said
that right now, the unemployment rate for Americans with a college degree or more is about half the

causing many students to be unemployed.Yet at the same time, people that have a college education

Despite the fact that Nixon continued to diminish American troop strength in South Vietnam, the

42. Forest Fires In North America
All around the world, environments are constantly changing. Forest fires take part in the way our
environment change and although an increase in forest fires in North America can negatively affect
some species, it provides opportunities for many others. Certain species have found ways to adapt and
thrive in forest fires while others need fire for reproductive success. Forest fires also promote diversity
and a healthy ecosystem. The longer term one looks, the more opportunities can be seen for species to
evolve through forest fires. Although many people believe forest fires negatively affect species, forest
fires help to keep a healthy ecosystem and promote diversity. When a forest fire occurs, it kills many
plants and animals. When older plants and animals are killed in a forest fire, it allows the forest to be
reborn again. It gives opportunities for new plants, fungi and other organisms to recolonize the land.
Also, ashes that remain after a fire contain lots of nutrients for incoming trees and other vegetation.

throughout the tree. Forest fires kill these pests and some other infected trees which will give other
healthy trees the opportunity to be nourished by the burned vegetation that contains nutrients. It also
eliminates the number of pests that can infest these trees. Forest fires also allow for new habitats to be
formed. Forest animals take shelter in wildlands, and often can get covered in heavy brush. A fire will
clear all that away and leave room for new shrubs and grasses. When heavy shrubs are removed from
a fire, water supply is increased. This increased water supply can benefit different types of plants and

parents presented of the father when he was the same age. Prior to this observation research was done

44. The Cauchy Stress Principle
The Cauchy stress principle is one of the main hypotheses in mechanics of solids. The study of linear
and nonlinear wave processes is very important. Elastic waves are high performance instrument to
research strained and deformed state of solids an also to study their structure and properties. Elastic
waves can propagate deeply inside the material without disturbing the material state. The elasto
dynamic problem is a challenging predicament to the modern material scientists. In the last twenty
years the concept of structural deformation levels obtained the recognition in physics of solids and
especially in the science of materials [Panin (1995)]. According to which the concept, each point of a
solid body is a complex system of interacting structures of lower level. In the present work
elastodynamic problem of in elastic solids and the finite deformation in such materials are studied
analytically and investigated the process of wave propagation in the solid.
The elastic solid is assumed as a heterogeneous medium which is homogenized and then applied the
principle of anisotropic expansion to suppress the effects of anisotropy. Due to homogenization the
nonlinear effects are resulted, these non linear effects should be suppressed in the material to clearly
understand the wave propagation in an elastic solid. To investigate the wave propagation in such a
material a thorough study of the internal force and its distribution is to be expected, the action of all

Beauty pageants are events that little girls dream of. This dream however, was not an overnight well
planned event, the history of The Miss America pageant started as a beauty contest a long time before
now. The beauty pageant was held on September the seventh and the eighth of 1921. Beauty pageants
have evolved over the years, after World War 2, shows were made to represent the ideal woman a
feminine, wife like the keeper of the household. But now, pageants have different selection criteria. It
all depends on how women are perceived in society. Traits can range from high and independent to
soft and feminine. The winner of pageants will be recognized as successful and beautiful and will
embody well being traits. An example of a show that operates in this manner would be the Miss
America Pageant. It is a pageant in which winners represent the ideal woman. People are continually
instigating on the rumor of shows are for the most beautiful people in the country. Though beauty
plays an important part, the year and definition of an ideal woman in this age play a more significant
role. In 1921, Margeret Gorman won the very first beauty pageant. She looked like Mary Pickford

to perform normal everyday activities, and struggles with the loss of her independence. Alice s

puts a strain on their relationship. John s job offer to move to Boston does not help matters either, and
it quickly becomes the last straw for the two of them. He soon moves to New York to take the job after
Alice s memory starts to decay at a faster rate. John and Alice have 3 children, Lydia, Anna, and Tom
as well as a son in law, Charlie. They are introduced at the beginning of the screenplay, as they all
gather to celebrate Alice s 50th birthday at a restaurant. This is also the time in which the audience
notices her decline in normal conversation as she is unable to follow smoothly. Alice could be

Introduction In this paper I will discuss efficacy of fast track system in emergency department across
Ontario, that will influence patient satisfaction, and also identifies practices that can be used in the
Emergency Department. It also provides ways of promising strategies to help Emergency Departments
address patient satisfaction issues more effectively. Each hospital can identify critical issues and
processes and choose strategies to support local needs. By introducing the fast track process in a

The fast track system can be employed at various stages to check for potential outcomes and other
implementations in the healthcare industry. On the operation stage, the system can be used to analyze
the various outcomes of patient flow study. At the strategic stage, fast track system can be used to
monitor the financial gains of an organization and evaluate its commercial health. On the national
stage, it can be used to observe the government programs that address the reduction of wait time for
the patients in the ED s. At the operational stage, it aims to present a concrete analysis of an ED that
exists within a fast track system. Introducing the fast track system was meant to reduce the wait times
in the ED (Yoon, 2003). Reducing the time would allow the increase of the numbers of patients who
come in, get treated, and discharged. It ends up increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of the ED.
Increasing the effectiveness and its capacity makes it possible for more patients to be examined and
treated because there is more time in the system. For example, at the Grand River Hospital, there are
several initiatives that are already in place that are targeting to reduce the staying duration of the
patient in the ED. These initiatives include having nurse practitioners in the emergency department,
having a specific fast track area, emergency medical rules that permit nurses to start on
