European Textiles Network, devoted most of their June issue to hemp and derived much of their
information from the IHA. If you haven t seen it, you can order a copy from the IHA bookstore. It s a
beautifully done issue, with nice color plates. The IHA has been invited to join the FAO hemp/flax

Informative Essay On Bulldogs
Bull dog breeds, known for their stocky, and muscular build are great dogs to have and fun to be
around. But if you re like most people, you probably picture an aggressive dog that has been linked
unfortunately to a lot of negative press. However, these are amazing dogs with an amazing heart and
amazing history. Here are some great facts you may have not known about the beauty of the bull
breeds.
Where did bulldogs come from?
The bulldog s origin is closely related to its name due to the fact that the dogs were used to fight and
take down wild bulls in early English history. The fights were viewed as a sporting spectacle and also
to control cattle for English meat cutters and butchers. But why would the early English use these

Pedagogy From The Greek Paidagogia Is The Art And...
Pedagogy from the greek Paidagogia is the art and science of education and the way we teach. Interest
in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent years and
there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that question. (M.
K. Smith 2012a). Education is about giving time to discover new concepts whilst being encouraged to
do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a very practical activity
and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new perceptions. Many people have
the misconception that pedagogy is only about teaching, it has other forms, a process of living and not
a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process of education and teaching is carried
out by several people during our lives, parents and carers, work colleagues, acquaintances and friends
and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c).
A pedagogue in Ancient Greek society was a very important person. There was a noticeable difference
between a pedagogue and a teacher. A pedagogue was very much part of the household of the young
learner, often slaves who were trusted by their master to guide their children through everyday life.
The role of a pedagogue was to act as a companion, ensuring safety and to act as a guardian during
schooling. The pedagogue was responsible for most aspects of the young child s life in the early years
from aged seven to aged sixteen and they

The Pros And Cons Of Uncloss
United Nation Convention on the Law of The Sea (UNCLOS) is one of the efforts of United Nation to
create a regime that may unify all nations regarding the sea matters. The creation of UNCLOS started
in 1956 when the General Assembly adopted the resolution 1105 (XI). During that time only 82 states
that join the UNCLOS. UNCLOS I had produce the other four separated conventions concluded in

By becoming the member of UNCLOS, state can enjoy many advantages. The first advantage of the
UNCLOS is it can advance the state members economic interests. All state members may enjoy their
rights to all the resources in a 200 nautical mile Exclusive Economic Zone off the coastline. It means
by remaining outside the treaty, any coastal states cannot make any legal claims to the resources in the
Continental Shelf.
Other than that, coastal state can secure its territory wider than before. If the coastal state does not
ratify the UNCLOS, they may face problems when there is dispute occurred. For example, it is
difficult for the United States to preserve its rights over the Arctic resources. It is because Russia,
Canada, Norway and Denmark are making claims to the oil and mineral resources under the icecap.

Soccer Influence On American Culture
Stated by Foer, Soccer isn t the same as Bach or Buddhism. But it is often more deeply felt than
religion, and just as much a part of the community s fabric, a repository of tradition. (How 1). Soccer
is an influential sport which is more often than not taken more serious throughout the world than in
the United States. Within the region of Europe soccer has influenced the people in varying ways, such
as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. This change of perspective is due to the
different characteristics portrayed from soccer that can move a whole nation or one as an individual.
The migration tolerance of different nations can be influenced immensely by soccer specifically,
through World Cup play of France s international team, propaganda images and personal encounters.

As for my mentor Iain Langstone he was given the opportunity to come the United States from
England to play soccer at the collegiate level. Comparably to the opinions heard by the French players
as foreigners, Iain also heard stuff said about him however it was not negative. The effects of the
opinions were rather positive giving him confidence in himself and his play as a soccer player. Due to
his acceptance from others. Although the opinions of France and Iain s soccer team were not remotely
close this shows how one can personally be affected by others opinion in soccer. The game of soccer
can open the door for endless opportunities. As for Iain, without the chance of coming to United States
on a soccer scholarship his life would be drastically different than it is today. After his time spent in
the United States he was open to the job of becoming a coach at youth premier levels, an assistant

Examples Of Reflection Essay
Reflection Essay
At the end of August as I started my first semester in English 99 I was a different person who had a
fixed mindset and thought I would never be able to correctly structure or organize an essay. Looking
back, at my progress, I definitely know I am more than ready for English 100.
I have incorporated many of the strategies I recently learned throughout the course of the semester to
improve both my in class and out of class essay. To start off with I enhanced my introduction on both
essays expanding the main idea in my thesis and thoroughly answering the prompt question. I also,
changed a few of my word choices, because most of them did not specify or convey my thoughts
clearly. Now, for my evidence as I referred back to previous reading selections I correctly formated
my quotes placing quotation marks and commas in the right place as well as paraphrasing key
concepts into 25 words or less in only one sentence to explain a chosen quote. Many rearrangements
were made in my body paragraphs where I would start my ideas but not finish my analysis. Adding
examples either from experience or any related ideas, made both my essays so much better and more
coherent. Lastly, I appended much more information to wrap up my conclusions, since they were not
straightforward or neither restate my thesis statement.
For my reading and writing processes I have learned ample techniques to become better and more
successful in each and every unit, especially the very last one, The Dark Side of Happiness, by June
Gruber, because of its intricate and complex key points it was a challenging reading. Coming from
High School where teachers do not exemplify any techniques caused me to be uncomfortable with
rigorous and demanding readings like this (The Dark Side of Happiness.) I can now say my
understanding of how important it is to read and write grew profoundly. I have never really considered
myself a great reader, since I do not enjoy reading, but knowing how to dissect, go under the surface,
and more in depth in each reading influenced my perception. I was then introduced to brainstorming
as well, a method used most often to express your thoughts and ideas without them being right. In
addition, knowing how to

Nelson Mandela Speech
Standing Up for What is Right
Can you imagine standing up for something that is very important to you and being sent to prison
because of it? Nelson Mandela went against the apartheid and fought for equality in South Africa. He
was sentenced to life in prison because of his association with the African National Congress and got
charged with treason. Mandela got punished for something he stood strongly for and suffered the
consequences. He was strong throughout his years in prison and demonstrated his strength numerous
times throughout his life. Nelson Mandela demonstrated courage by not giving up in prison and
pushing forward to have equality, acting with integrity by going against the apartheid, and made a
difference by improving South African rights and many opinions and ways of improving equality.
Nelson Mandela s childhood influenced the leadership roles Mandela took on. Mandela s father was
the chief of a South African Tribe. Leadership ran in his family. In 1930, when Mandela was only 12
years old his father passed away, Mandela had to fulfill his father s leadership roles. Mandela s eyes
were opened to what was occurring with human rights and segregation.. He continued to be a leader
and fight for what he thought was right. He attended Fort Hare college was later suspended due to
leading a student protest for discrimination. This did not stop him from fighting for his rights. In 1994,

Fallacies in a commercial Essay
Romney Killed My Wife
In political races in the United States logical fallacies are a staple in political ads. The 2012 election
was no exception to this convention, especially being true in an advertisement with ex steel plant
worker Joe Soptic, speaking in Obama affiliated Political Action Committee Priorities. The
advertisement included many logical fallacies to argue against the Romney campaign. Those include
post hoc reasoning, ad hominem, and slippery slope.
The advertisement consisted of just one man, Joe Soptic, an ex steel plant worker, of GST Steel,
speaking against Mitt Romney. He personally points blame on Romney for the death of his wife. He
says that when Mitt Romney and Bain closed the plant, I lost my health care, ... Show more content on

In addition there was a caption in the video short after the previous statement by Soptic, claiming that
Mitt Romney and Bain Capital made millions for themselves and then closed the plant. This is
implying that Romney and Bain Capital are greedy. This has no relation to the topic of Romney s
political views and is merely an attack on character. Furthermore the advertisement ends with Soptic
stating that he does not think that Mitt Romney is concerned about the well being of workers of the
plant.
The last piece of logical fallacy that is present in the advertisement of 2012 is slippery slope. This is
when it is asserted that one event will inevitably be followed another with question or argument.
Slippery slope is implied in this advertisement in the way that if Romney is in charge, he will shut
down businesses, which will disable people to receive health insurance, which will cause many deaths.
This is improbable in the way that one event does not necessarily cause the other and predominantly,
is highly unlikely.
Logical fallacies are common in the political races in the United States, whether they re in
advertisements or in a speech given by a candidate. During the presidential election of 2012, logical
fallacies seemed to be more

The Incidence Of Thyroid Cancer
The incidence of thyroid cancer is rapidly rising in the US accounting for 62,980 cases with 1890
deaths every year[1]. It is the seventh most common cancer diagnosed in women and peaks earlier
than in men. Despite its high prevalence, death rate from thyroid cancer is fairly stable from past many
years. In general, thyroid cancer offers a good prognosis with an overall survival rate of approximately
90%[2]. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) termed as
differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) contribute to majority of thyroid cancers sharing a superior
prognosis. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), mostly acquired as a part of familial syndromes,
display only modest cure rates. While surgical resection followed by radioiodine therapy remains the
treatment of choice for localized thyroid cancer, it fails to eradicate tumors with aggressive behavior.
In marked contrast to DTC, anaplastic carcinoma (ATC), an undifferentiated sub type of thyroid
cancer, has a higher propensity to locally invade nearby structures and metastasize rapidly. It
approaches to almost 50% of all thyroid cancer related deaths, the median survival being only six
months[3]. The grim prognosis of ATC is due to the fact that it is diagnosed at an advanced stage
which offers palliative treatment as the only option for patients suffering from the disease. Because of
the chemo and radio resistant nature observed in aggressive thyroid cancers, many researchers have

The Political Structure Of Singapore
DESCRIBE THE POLITICAL STRUCTURE A. Type The Sovereign Republic of Singapore, an
island country located in the southern tip of the Malay Peninsula in Southeast Asia has a parliamentary
government with a legal system based on the English common law. The President Tony Tan Keng Yam
is the chief of state and the Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong is the head of the government. Singapore
adopted its constitution in 1965, which exercises the concept of original jurisdiction. This means cases
can be presented for the first time for a hearing at a High Court. The constitution represents the
supreme law of the land. Also, in 1965, Singapore joined the United Nations. The three organs of
state, the Executive, the Legislative, and the Judiciary follow the Constitution s fundamental
principles. The Cabinet, comprised of the Executive takes care of the administration of the
government and is accountable to the Parliament. Elected by a plurality vote, the President serves for
six years. The authority responsible for enacting the legislation is the Parliament. Also, by plurality
vote and single member constituencies, citizens elect 12 members; a group representation constituency
system elects 75 members; the President nominates 9 members; and from a national compensatory list,
3 members are also appointed. The President appoints for life the Judiciary branch, which administers
justice without any influence from the other branches. Under the article 25 of the constitution, the

Scouts Journey to Womanhood Essay
As girls grow in life, they mature and change into women. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by
Harper Lee, Scout, the main character, begins to mature into a woman. In the beginning of the book,
she is a tomboy who cannot wait to pick a fistfight with anyone, but at the end, she lowers her fists
because her father, Atticus, tells her not to fight. Scout s views of womanhood, influenced by how
Aunt Alexandra, Miss Maudie, and Calpurnia act, make her think more about becoming a woman and
less of a tomboy.
In the beginning of the book, Scout is a tomboy. She acts, dresses, and walks like a boy because when
she was little her mom died, leaving her in a house with two men, Jem and Atticus. Scout has a lot of

wants to talk to you about the family and what it s meant to Maycomb County though the years, so
you ll have some idea of who you are, so you might be moved to behave accordingly. (133)
Aunt Alexandra is mad at Atticus for defending Tom in the trial because it does not look good for the
family name. At the tea party Scout s views on Aunt Alexandra change, When she had them on the
road, Aunt Alexandra stepped back. She gave Miss Maudie a look of pure gratitude, and I wondered at
the world of women. Miss Maudie and Aunt Alexandra had never been especially clock and here was
Aunty silently thanking her for something (233). Scout respects Aunt Alexandra a lot more after this
scene happens; she sees that womanhood is not exactly how she imagines it and that it might not be
that bad after all.
Aunt Alexandra is a total opposite of Miss Maudie, the kind woman who lives across the street, and is
always there for Scout to talk to. She does not judge people based on what she hears from the other
women in town, but rather simply lives her life maintaining a broad minded view about the trial and
many other things. She calls

Dna Profiling And The National Dna Database System
Part B: Report
DNA Profiling: Is it ethical to have national DNA database system?
Introduction: Today, the advancing gene technology provides humanity with numerous benefits such
as Genetically Modified Food, CRISPER, and one of them is the use of DNA profiling for storing bio
information. DNA fingerprint technology allows mapping of individual s genetic patterns that can be
stored into the database system (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). The ability to profile gene
effectively, DNA fingerprinting is used as a problem solving tool in the justice system and medical
science researches. At the same time, ethical and social issues such as privacy violations, human rights
and the possibility of discrimination cannot be ignored.
Biological Background: It is scientifically proven that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) contains genetic
material and highly specific to individual. DNA fingerprint can be tested by restriction fragment
length polymorphism (RFLP) methods and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. Although
RFLP is considered more accurate, due to the cost and requirement of longer period to complete, it is
not commonly used. While only 1% of genetic materials are unique to individual, the short tandem
repeats (STR) sequences called minisatellites can be used to distinguish all humans as it shows great
variation between each person (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016).
DNA fingerprinting technique involves a number of steps. The DNA sample from fluid, hair or any

The Debate Regarding Same Sex Marriage
The definition of marriage varies according to different cultures, but when defined broadly, marriage
is considered to be an institution common to all human cultures. In terms of legal recognition, most
sovereign states limit marriage to male and female couples (two persons of opposite gender).
Nowadays a growing number of countries (about 15) have established a legal recognition for same sex
marriage. While few societies have recognized same sex unions as marriages there is a long history of
same sex unions around the world. Various types of same sex unions have existed, ranging from
informal, unsanctioned, and temporary relationships to highly ritualized unions. The attitude of people

People marry for many reasons, including: legal, social, sexual, emotional, financial, spiritual and
religious, but marriages is primarily a social stabilizer because it creates the only association able to
move forward our social heritage. Families (association of individual: the entity) are one of the
fundamental keys to understand life. Why, would you say? Well, because without living a family life,
without children, spouse, companions, neighbours and associates, it is impossible to experience the
renunciation of self for the good of others (love: not sex). A family (cultural legacy) starts with the
association of man and women and not merely with the association of individual having the same sex,
because family have a cultural heritage not coming only from past generations but a legacy that can be
extended to following generations for the betterment of the whole. Two individuals of the same sex in
a relationship cannot transmit anything further from their union because they cannot naturally
procreate. The preservation of self, means the preservation of the individual, but when this
preservation of self exists in a community (group of individuals: the community: the state) the social
group must also assume it and is therefore obliged to create rules for the good and the sustaining of
itself: the whole. As a single individual you are temporary within a family, but the family and its

The Impact Of Volunteerism On American Society
It is evident that the tradition of volunteerism may have a profound impact on American Society. To
some extent, we tend to agree that recruiting methods can be critical for both the decision to volunteer
and the settings in which adult people volunteer. Accordingly, Florida Hospital staff believe that
volunteers and interns are an important part of their commitment to world class healthcare and their
goal of extending healing through the ministry of Christ (Volunteers n.d.). On a significant level, we
might need to find out the best recruiting strategies and implementing ideas on how to increase such a
vital volunteer population.
For instance, the best recruiting strategies will be depending on the way the hospital services feed the
immediate need of the community. We can begin with a powerful message that volunteering and
interning will save life. Accordingly, volunteering can help to provide people with ways out of
poverty, by giving them new skills and confidence, and aid social integration (James, 2018).

Road Not Taken
A reader must consider the words of Robert Frost in The Road Not Taken as carefully as the individual
must consider every choice that finds them as the paths of life intersect (Kirszner Mandell, 2012,
p.624). An individual can get analysis paralysis when they think about each and every choice too
much. People can analyze something to death (Lewis, 2014, p. 517).The individual applies Newton s
third law of motion, to every action there is always opposed and equal reaction and this consideration
can render them into a state of confusion and indecisiveness as they consider the next step (Sharma,
2016, p. 23). Everything we do is a choice and every action has a reaction, therefore as individuals
with free will, we are aware that we are the navigator on our individual path, and not making a choice
has consequences just as surely as making an active choice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

and consider how their life would be different, save that one small choice (Kirszner Mandell, 2012,

opportunities the alternate path would open up for them. The individual considers a choice, takes

Essay on Biography of Samuel Adams
Biography of Samuel Adams Samuel Adams: From the National Statuary Hall Collection at the U.S.
Capitol
Among those who signed the Declaration of Independence, and were conspicuous in the revolution,
there existed, of course, a great diversity of intellectual endowments; nor did all render to their
country, in those perilous days, the same important services. Like the luminaries of heavens each
contributed his portion of influence; but, like them, they differed, as star differeth from star in glory.
But in the constellation of great men, which adorned that era, few shone with more brilliancy, or
exercised a more powerful influence than Samuel Adams.

In 1763 it was announced, that the British ministry had it in view to tax the colonies, for the purpose
of raising a revenue, which was to be placed at the disposal of the crown. This news filled the colonies
with alarm. In Massachusetts, a committee was appointed by the people of Boston to express the
public sentiment in relation to this contemplated measure, for the guidance of the representatives to
the general court. The instructions of this committee were drawn by Mr. Adams. They formed, in
truth, a powerful remonstrance against the injustice of the contemplated system of taxation; and they
merit the more particular notice, as they were the first recorded public document, which denied the
right of taxation to the British parliament. They also contained the first suggestion of the propriety of
that mutual understanding and correspondence among the colonies, which laid the foundation of their
future confederacy. Ill these instructions, after alluding to the evils which had resulted from the acts of
the British parliament, relating to trade, Mr. Adams observes: If our trade may be taxed, why not our
lands? Why not the produce of our lands, and every thing we possess, or use? This we conceive
annihilates our charter rights to govern and tax ourselves. It strikes at our British privileges, which, as

Television And The Digital Age
For the past century, modern technologies have made the distribution of news and entertainment more
efficient. In the digital age, the media is an imperative element of everyday culture (Silverstone,
2004). There is no denying the indispensability of television as the central hub as represented in the
quotation: In my heart I will take my television set with me. I love you. Suicide note of New York
school boy after his father banned him from watching television (Sunday Times as cited in
Silverstone, 2004). Although the television was once an essential part of the social sphere,
advancements in the internet has developed flexible Streaming Videos On Demand services such as
Netflix and Stan which displace some of the demand for cable and free television. The different
temporalities of both mediums changes the way consumers use these services and thus transforms its
relationship to public life.
HISTORY OF TELEVISION
Television has been an crucial part of the household since the 20th century, as a medium for traditional
households to come together and enjoy a program. The significance of television is encapsulated
through the central placement of the television set in the common household. Traditionally, television
was the main source of news and regarded as the social centre . Everyone had to keep up to date to
engage in water cooler conversations in order to be connected . In the Dailiness in Radio, Television

The most common sign and symptom of NHL is a painless swelling in one or more of the lymph
nodes in the neck (Figure 2), collarbone region, armpits, or groin. These are easily seen or felt as
lumps under the skin. When the lymphoid tissue inside the abdomen is involved, the abdomen can
become tender, painful, and or swollen. This may be due to either a tumor or to large collections of
fluid, the pressure or blockage of this tumor can cause nausea, vomiting, or blockage of feces. When
lymphomas start in the thymus or lymph nodes in the chest, it may irritate or compress the nearby
trachea, which can lead to coughing and trouble breathing. Superior Vena Cava syndrome also is a

Monster Persuasive Speech
When I say monsters , I don t mean the ones that only come out at night and hide in the darkness, I m
talking about the monsters that reside in our minds. The monsters that we deal with on a daily basis,
and overwhelm us if we don t control them. We all have these monsters, no matter if they are huge or
minuscule, and how much they affect our lives. The monsters that I deal with are constantly driving
me towards procrastination and anxiety, and I must learn to overcome, or I will be consumed.
Procrastination, possibly the worst and most destructive monster I have. Procrastination is the reason
for most of my problems, and I can never overcome it. I live with it, and it is a part of me, so
overcoming it is out of the question. The best I can do is deal with it. Procrastination was best

Anxiety is my second biggest monster, partly because it is a huge side effect of procrastination. It is a
constant stress in the back of the mind that only says negative things about the future. A voice that
tells the victim, You won t get that paper done, you re going to fail. A voice that never stops and tells
the victim that they did a good job, because according to anxiety, I can only do wrong. It is anxiety
that limits the victim from doing great things because of the failures along the way, and the inability to
forget the bad, and focus only on the good. The glass is always half empty for anxiety, which means it
is almost impossible for the victim to think positively about the future. I compare anxiety to
Voldemort in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s Stone, attached to Professor Quirrell s head, constantly
whispering evil commands. Anxiety is a silent killer, and a hard one to deal with, but it is easier to
overcome than procrastination. It is my second worst monster because I can overcome anxiety in short

Essay on Oil Export for a Unified Caspian Oil Conglomerate
Oil Export for a Unified Caspian Oil Conglomerate
Introduction
Oil resources are the focal point of almost all international disputes in the present century as every
country needs oil to power its electrical grids, run its automobiles, and operate its machinery. The vast
majority of accessible oil lies in the extremely unstable Middle East, whose countries form most of
OPEC and have a viable monopoly on oil production and pricing. The troubles caused by this situation
thus come to no surprise as high demand and monopolistic supply give omnipotent control to the
supplier.

The Rights Of Women In The Iranian Women s Rights
Iranian women are considered second class citizens and are legally bound to obey their husbands.
They are forced to wear the Hijab and follow the Islamic dress code. The Islamic dress code is
enforced by the Morality Police, men who are volunteer members of the Baiji militia. If they are found
to be violating the dress code they are chastised, stoned, and beaten. Women in Iran also have no
choice in who they marry and the legal age of marriage for women is thirteen while a man s is fifteen.
Iranian men may have more than one wife and may divorce her at any time, giving them full custody
of their children. Iranian women also may not have a passport and they may not travel without written
permission from their husbands. Only seventeen percent of Iranian women are in the workforce, and
they hold jobs in what is considered traditional women s jobs such a nursing, teaching, and
beauticians. The government of Iran has created laws and regulations that allow businesses to
discriminate against Iranian women. These laws make it impossible for women to hold any senior
management jobs in the workforce. In 1936, Iranian Women were given the right to vote. The Iranian
revolution in 1979 turned the clock back for women s rights. In 1979 before the overthrow, twenty two
women were on the parliament and over three hundred women were members of elected councils.

Comparing Cronus And The Lightning Thief
The Story of Cronus and The Lightning Thief
The Story of Cronus is an interesting myth where Cronus eats his children in fear that they would one
day take his throne and overpower him. Rhea, his wife, hid their last child, a god named Zeus in a
cave in the heart of Mount Ida. He throve rapidly and soon developed great physical powers along
with wisdom and intelligence. With the help of Metis, Zeus succeeded in forcing his father to disgorge
his siblings. This caused a war in which Zeus had won with the help of the giants. This myth has the
theme the struggle for power since Cronus is afraid of his children overpowering him. The novel The
Lightning Thief, has the same theme as well since Zeus, Hades, and Poseidon fight with each other.
The Story of Cronus communicates with the theme the struggle for power since Cronus ate his
children so that they wouldn t take his throne. The myth states, Cronus having an uneasy conscience,
was afraid that his children might one day rise up against his authority, and thus verify the prediction
of his father, Uranus. This quote shows how Cronus was afraid ... Show more content on

Funeral processions always proceed quot;slowly quot; and often majestically. The speaker in the
poem, who is dead, has certainly put away her labor and leisure to confront Death s quot;courtly
civility. quot; We might take quot;Immortality quot; at face value, but immortality is not a person; it is
each individual s concept of quot;unending existence quot; or quot;lasting fame, quot; according to
Webster s. The word then has no quot;face value. quot;
Ruth Miller reads quot;paused quot; literally, and sees quot;no burial quot; (193 94). But can we take
words literally? I think not. Because quot;Centuries [. . .] Feel shorter than the Day quot; in this poem,
a quot;pause quot; can constitute a complete if brief stop for burial in what Dickinson describes
precisely: an above ground, or partlyabove and partly below ground, burial vault; a key to the deeper
meaning of the poem. We may also note that any burial in the time frame of eternity is but a pause.
Burial vaults were once formed by two parallel dry stone walls, six to eight feet apart, six to eight feet
high. The vaults had a stone slab or corbeled roof, a back wall, and a dry stone facade with a portal
closed by a door (or slab of marble or slate) inscribed, when used for burial, with the names of the
interred. The entire structure was banked with earth and sod and

A Reflection On Capstone Nursing Practicum
As N412L: Capstone Nursing Practicum comes to a close, I can reflect on my clinical experiences in
this course and my progress towards meeting my defined behavioral objectives. At the beginning of
this course, I set goals for myself, of which I planned to accomplish by the time this term came to a
close. These objectives included: effective communication of the patient s care summary in SBAR
format, safe and efficient administration of intravenous medications, successful performance of
tracheostomy care, and accurate physical assessment and patient monitoring. While I still have much
to learn as I step into the role of a graduate nurse, I have accomplished my behavioral objectives for
this semester.
Description
Throughout the second half of the semester, I have not made any significant changes to my pre clinical
routine. I still prepare and gather my supplies the evening beforehand, and I try to avoid during
schoolwork in order to facilitate restful sleep. However, upon arriving to the unit, I have developed a
familiarity with the staff and environment that has reduced my stress and anxiety levels, allowing me
to focus more attention on my patient assignment for the day. Although we do not have assigned
preceptors, I have developed a mentoring relationship with two of the nurses on the unit and will work
with those staff members if available. As we have gotten to know and trust one another, we do not

Smallpox is a viral disease that causes pus filled boils on the dermis. It looks similar to chickenpox,
but has certain characteristic differences. Unlike chickenpox, smallpox is lethal in 30% of the cases
and leaves the victim with disfiguring scars and/or blindness. Smallpox has now been eradicated

Disease transmission
Smallpox is transmitted via face to face contact and /or exchange of infected bodily fluids with the
affected individual. The disease is transmitted to a lesser extent via infected clothing and bedding.
Humans are the only natural host for the virus. Therefore, there is no reservoir and the virus is not
transmittable through animals or insects. The incubation period of the virus is nearly 2 weeks (7 to 17
days) during which the person is asymptomatic and non contagious (Fenner et al., 129).
Symptoms and diagnosis
After the incubation period, the person experiences symptoms such as fever (101 to 104°F), body
ache, headache, malaise, vomiting and stomachache. At this point, the person becomes too sick to
walk around and do their daily chores. This phase is called as prodrome that may last 2 to 4 days. The
patient starts to feel normal after this prodrome phase only to experience the appearance of rashes in
the form of red spots on the mucous lining of the mouth and on the tongue, 24 hours later. These spots
rupture and release the virus into the throat. It is during this time that the rash starts appearing on the
dermis of the face, arms and legs. Usually, the midsection of the body has less concentration of these
spots when compared to the face and the extremities. This is the first

Gender And Communication Essay
In response to what we have discussed thus far in Interpersonal Communication, I would like to
further explore the idea of gender in the interpersonal communication arena. As was said in class,
gender influences cultural perspectives. Gender also influences how we view ourselves in society. On
the flip side, I ve seen how society can mold the way we label ourselves in terms of gender.
The well known concepts of masculinity and femininity run rampant in our society. We live in a world
where men are told to be masculine, women are told to be feminine and those who do not do as they
are told, will suffer the societal consequences.
The philosophy of masculinity supports the idea ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Well, at least for a day or two.
Society would like all women to be feminine. That is to say, society would like all women to render
themselves as weak, non assertive, helpless, male needing beings. Women are told to act lady like at
all times. This means not arguing, not standing up for themselves and obeying men at all times. The
feminine guidelines are seemingly endless and to live a feminine lifestyle is exhausting for most
women. It is not accepted for women to spit or belch, whereas for a male these acts are second nature.
A fabulous example of manifested pure femininity is the Barbie Doll. Barbie is a homemaker, with a
thin body dressed in pink. Barbie is seen as the perfect women and manifests in physical form in every
issue of Playboy magazine. Most women are chasing an illusory goal of total femininity, while at the
same time searching for complete societal acceptance.
Very few people emit all masculine or all feminine behavior. Most people of our society integrate both
feminine and masculine characteristics within their beings. The integration of both masculinity and
femininity is known as androgyny. Is has become more and more accepted to be androgynous, yet few
people obtain a perfect balance between masculinity and femininity. The unspoken societal rule about
gender is, if one is male, one must show more masculine traits than feminine traits, or else risk the

awards. Ma was selected in 2011 as a Kennedy Center Honoree and was also awarded the Presidential
Medal of Freedom. He also served in 2006 as the United Nations Messenger of Peace. Even with all
the national awards and recognitions, Yo Yo Ma feels that the greatest honor he ever received was the
Fred Rogers Legacy Award. Ma was the inaugural recipient. The award is given by the Fred Rogers
Center for Early Learning and Children s media at Saint Vincent College. Ma and Fred Rogers became

The Music Of Electronic Dance Music
Tracing as far back as the 1940s when sound pioneers began their own movement known as musique
concrete, sampling, evolved from simple sound collage. Now it has evolved to the act of taking a
portion of one sound recording and reusing it as an instrument or sound recording in a different song
or piece. Today it has become an integral part of many music genres today. Samples often consist of
one part of another song, such as a lyric or rhythm break, and used to create a beat for another song.
The experimental musicians did not get permission from the artists whose work they were using or
from the copyright owner while they were using them to create their own music. It began getting
popular in hip hop when it was just played in local dance parties so they were not obligated to receive
copyright clearance in order to play this music at events. As the 1970s approached, DJs were
experimenting with vinyl by having two turntables and an audio mixer going at the same time and
manipulating them. Leading on into 1980s, electronic dance music was in the making and picking up
on sampling after being influenced by hip hop. It went on to spread to indie rock, contemporary R B,
and industrial music.
The digital sampler was invented after that to enable musicians to record any sound at the touch of a
button, making sampling simpler. Typical sample instruments consist of grand pianos, pipe organs,
violins, cellos, wind and percussion instruments. This can include voices and non traditional

Bounce Temperature Investigation
3.0 Analysis and Discussion
3.1 Discussion/Analysis
This report aimed to investigate the relationship between the air pressure in a ball and the bounce
height of the ball as well as the material of a ball and the bounce height of the ball. The data collected
supports the two aims and hypotheses mentioned previously in Stage 1.
The strong trend (all R^2 values above 0.9) shown in Graph 2 (see 2.3 Results) of how air pressure
affects the bounce height of the ball is: as the air pressure of a ball increases, the coefficient of
restitution increases at a decreasing rate thus forming a logarithm relationship. Unfortunately, the
logarithm relationship cannot be confirmed and proved as the data has not been linearised due to the
lack of mathematical knowledge and an insufficient number of tests to fully determine the trend.
Although, it is also likely that a more complex relationship may be involved between the air pressure
and bounce height. A possible asymptotic relationship can be considered rather than a logarithmic ...

The wind speed of the location chosen for this investigation was not suitable enough for a fair test as
speed of the air molecules constantly changed. Instead of an outdoor location, a science lab or
classroom with fans turned off and windows closed would be a more suitable location as the air
movement around the ball would be less of a problem. Furthermore, instead of holding the iPad
camera, a desk or book/s can be used to support and position the camera so that the angle and height
of where the camera is filming is kept constant. A higher quality camera can also be used so that
clearer and more frames can be captured during the process. A final major recommendation would be
to keep the size of the ball constant so that a more consistent amount of air resistance is acting on the
balls being

Allegany History Week And Wellsville Civil War Reenactment
Seeing Allegany County History
Report on the events I had visited during the last days of the Allegany History Week and Wellsville
Civil War Reenactment
During the weekend of September 24th 25, 2016, I had attended some of the events involved with
Allegany History Week and the Civil War Reenactment in Wellsville. On Saturday, I visited the
historical display room in Howe Library, in Wellsville, and visited the Civil War Reenactment in
Wellsville s Island Park. On Sunday, I went to see the Voices of the Past event at the Palmer Opera
House in Cuba. This will be a report of what I had seen in these events.
On Saturday morning, I went to Howe Library in Wellsville, to see its historical display. The display
room featured various tables holding displays of the history of various towns, displays of history
projects by young residents, and various historical antiques. The layout consisted of various isles
formed by the placement of objects and stands. Four lanes ran perpendicular to the four room walls,
forming a walking square, which was met on the other side with a rough square of displays. This
internal square of displays had points on which to enter an internal space lined with more displays on
the inside.
Not far from the entrance, there was the display of the replicas of Hamilton Burr Dueling Pistols. The
original pistols had belonged to John Barker Church, and had been kept by the Church family in their
Belvidere mansion for generations, until economic hardships forced

Interest in studying pedagogy and how effective pedagogy is transmitted has increased in recent years and there are a multitude of sources that we can explore and analyse in order to answer that question. (M. K. Smith 2012a). Education is about giving time to discover new concepts whilst being encouraged to do so in a social environment (M, K, Smith 2012b). Education in general is a very practical activity and is concerned with changing old principles as well as teaching new perceptions. Many people have the misconception that pedagogy is only about teaching, it has other forms, a process of living and not a preparation of future living. (John Dewey 1963). The process of education and teaching is carried out by several people during our lives, parents and carers, work colleagues, acquaintances and friends and specialist educators (M. K. Smith 2012c). A pedagogue in Ancient Greek society was a very important person. There was a noticeable difference between a pedagogue and a teacher. A pedagogue was very much part of the household of the young learner, often slaves who were trusted by their master to guide their children through everyday life. The role of a pedagogue was to act as a companion, ensuring safety and to act as a guardian during schooling. Soccer is an influential sport which is more often than not taken more serious throughout the world than in the United States. Within the region of Europe soccer has influenced the people in varying ways, such as changing their perspective on immigration of foreigners. • 8. Examples Of Reflection Essay Reflection Essay At the end of August as I started my first semester in English 99 I was a different person who had a fixed mindset and thought I would never be able to correctly structure or organize an essay. Looking back, at my progress, I definitely know I am more than ready for English 100. I have incorporated many of the strategies I recently learned throughout the course of the semester to improve both my in class and out of class essay. To start off with I enhanced my introduction on both essays expanding the main idea in my thesis and thoroughly answering the prompt question. I also, changed a few of my word choices, because most of them did not specify or convey my thoughts clearly. Now, for my evidence as I referred back to previous reading selections I correctly formated my quotes placing quotation marks and commas in the right place as well as paraphrasing key concepts into 25 words or less in only one sentence to explain a chosen quote. Many rearrangements were made in my body paragraphs where I would start my ideas but not finish my analysis. Adding examples either from experience or any related ideas, made both my essays so much better and more coherent. Lastly, I appended much more information to wrap up my conclusions, since they were not straightforward or neither restate my thesis statement. For my reading and writing processes I have learned ample techniques to become better and more successful in each and every unit, especially the very last one, The Dark Side of Happiness, by June Gruber, because of its intricate and complex key points it was a challenging reading. Coming from High School where teachers do not exemplify any techniques caused me to be uncomfortable with rigorous and demanding readings like this (The Dark Side of Happiness.) I can now say my understanding of how important it is to read and write grew profoundly. I have never really considered myself a great reader, since I do not enjoy reading, but knowing how to dissect, go under the surface, and more in depth in each reading influenced my perception. I was then introduced to brainstorming as well, a method used most often to express your thoughts and ideas without them being right. In addition, knowing how to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is the seventh most common cancer diagnosed in women and peaks earlier than in men. Despite its high prevalence, death rate from thyroid cancer is fairly stable from past many years. In general, thyroid cancer offers a good prognosis with an overall survival rate of approximately 90%[2]. Papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) and follicular thyroid carcinoma (FTC) termed as differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) contribute to majority of thyroid cancers sharing a superior prognosis. Medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC), mostly acquired as a part of familial syndromes, display only modest cure rates. While surgical resection followed by radioiodine therapy remains the treatment of choice for localized thyroid cancer, it fails to eradicate tumors with aggressive behavior. In marked contrast to DTC, anaplastic carcinoma (ATC), an undifferentiated sub type of thyroid cancer, has a higher propensity to locally invade nearby structures and metastasize rapidly. It approaches to almost 50% of all thyroid cancer related deaths, the median survival being only six months[3]. Introduction: Today, the advancing gene technology provides humanity with numerous benefits such as Genetically Modified Food, CRISPER, and one of them is the use of DNA profiling for storing bio information. DNA fingerprint technology allows mapping of individual s genetic patterns that can be stored into the database system (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). The ability to profile gene effectively, DNA fingerprinting is used as a problem solving tool in the justice system and medical science researches. At the same time, ethical and social issues such as privacy violations, human rights and the possibility of discrimination cannot be ignored. Biological Background: It is scientifically proven that DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) contains genetic material and highly specific to individual. DNA fingerprint can be tested by restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) methods and Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) methods. Although RFLP is considered more accurate, due to the cost and requirement of longer period to complete, it is not commonly used. While only 1% of genetic materials are unique to individual, the short tandem repeats (STR) sequences called minisatellites can be used to distinguish all humans as it shows great variation between each person (What is DNA fingerprint? 2016). Families (association of individual: the entity) are one of the fundamental keys to understand life. Why, would you say? Well, because without living a family life, without children, spouse, companions, neighbours and associates, it is impossible to experience the renunciation of self for the good of others (love: not sex). A family (cultural legacy) starts with the association of man and women and not merely with the association of individual having the same sex, because family have a cultural heritage not coming only from past generations but a legacy that can be extended to following generations for the betterment of the whole. Two individuals of the same sex in a relationship cannot transmit anything further from their union because they cannot naturally procreate. Like the luminaries of heavens each contributed his portion of influence; but, like them, they differed, as star differeth from star in glory. In 1763 it was announced, that the British ministry had it in view to tax the colonies, for the purpose of raising a revenue, which was to be placed at the disposal of the crown. This news filled the colonies with alarm. In Massachusetts, a committee was appointed by the people of Boston to express the public sentiment in relation to this contemplated measure, for the guidance of the representatives to the general court. The instructions of this committee were drawn by Mr. Adams. They formed, in truth, a powerful remonstrance against the injustice of the contemplated system of taxation; and they merit the more particular notice, as they were the first recorded public document, which denied the right of taxation to the British parliament. They also contained the first suggestion of the propriety of that mutual understanding and correspondence among the colonies, which laid the foundation of their future confederacy. Ill these instructions, after alluding to the evils which had resulted from the acts of the British parliament, relating to trade, Mr. Adams observes: If our trade may be taxed, why not our lands? Why not the produce of our lands, and every thing we possess, or use? This we conceive annihilates our charter rights to govern and tax ourselves. It strikes at our British privileges, which, as we have never ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Today it has become an integral part of many music genres today. Samples often consist of one part of another song, such as a lyric or rhythm break, and used to create a beat for another song. The experimental musicians did not get permission from the artists whose work they were using or from the copyright owner while they were using them to create their own music. It began getting popular in hip hop when it was just played in local dance parties so they were not obligated to receive copyright clearance in order to play this music at events. As the 1970s approached, DJs were experimenting with vinyl by having two turntables and an audio mixer going at the same time and manipulating them. Leading on into 1980s, electronic dance music was in the making and picking up on sampling after being influenced by hip hop. It went on to spread to indie rock, contemporary R B, and industrial music. The digital sampler was invented after that to enable musicians to record any sound at the touch of a button, making sampling simpler. Typical sample instruments consist of grand pianos, pipe organs, violins, cellos, wind and percussion instruments. This can include voices and non traditional ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Bounce Temperature Investigation 3.0 Analysis and Discussion 3.1 Discussion/Analysis This report aimed to investigate the relationship between the air pressure in a ball and the bounce height of the ball as well as the material of a ball and the bounce height of the ball. The data collected supports the two aims and hypotheses mentioned previously in Stage 1. The strong trend (all R^2 values above 0.9) shown in Graph 2 (see 2.3 Results) of how air pressure affects the bounce height of the ball is: as the air pressure of a ball increases, the coefficient of restitution increases at a decreasing rate thus forming a logarithm relationship. Unfortunately, the logarithm relationship cannot be confirmed and proved as the data has not been linearised due to the lack of mathematical knowledge and an insufficient number of tests to fully determine the trend. Although, it is also likely that a more complex relationship may be involved between the air pressure and bounce height. A possible asymptotic relationship can be considered rather than a logarithmic ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The wind speed of the location chosen for this investigation was not suitable enough for a fair test as speed of the air molecules constantly changed. Instead of an outdoor location, a science lab or classroom with fans turned off and windows closed would be a more suitable location as the air movement around the ball would be less of a problem. Furthermore, instead of holding the iPad camera, a desk or book/s can be used to support and position the camera so that the angle and height of where the camera is filming is kept constant. A higher quality camera can also be used so that clearer and more frames can be captured during the process. A final major recommendation would be to keep the size of the ball constant so that a more consistent amount of air resistance is acting on the balls being ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Allegany History Week And Wellsville Civil War Reenactment Seeing Allegany County History Report on the events I had visited during the last days of the Allegany History Week and Wellsville Civil War Reenactment During the weekend of September 24th 25, 2016, I had attended some of the events involved with Allegany History Week and the Civil War Reenactment in Wellsville. On Saturday, I visited the historical display room in Howe Library, in Wellsville, and visited the Civil War Reenactment in Wellsville s Island Park. On Sunday, I went to see the Voices of the Past event at the Palmer Opera House in Cuba. This will be a report of what I had seen in these events. On Saturday morning, I went to Howe Library in Wellsville, to see its historical display. The display room featured various tables holding displays of the history of various towns, displays of history projects by young residents, and various historical antiques. The layout consisted of various isles formed by the placement of objects and stands. Four lanes ran perpendicular to the four room walls, forming a walking square, which was met on the other side with a rough square of displays. This internal square of displays had points on which to enter an internal space lined with more displays on the inside. Not far from the entrance, there was the display of the replicas of Hamilton Burr Dueling Pistols. The original pistols had belonged to John Barker Church, and had been kept by the Church family in their Belvidere mansion for generations, until economic hardships forced ...
