The Effects Of Renewable Energy On The Earth s Climate
Over the years, the unequivocal increase in the Earth s climate has been an issue concerning
environmentalists and other scientists. With overwhelming evidence pointing to environmentally
damaging human behavior as the culprit for the Earth s rising temperature, a search for cleaner and
renewable energy sources creates a vastly growing alternative energy industry. One of the most
widely used forms of renewable energyis hydroelectricity. Like the name implies, hydroelectricity
refers to the generation of electricity through use of hydropower. In particular, the gravitational
energy of falling, flowing, or spinning water can be transferred to electric energy through Newton
s Law of Conservation of Energy (i.e. energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can be
transferred from one form to another).9 This renewable energy source has grown in popularity
vastly over time since the industrial revolution, and now accounts for nearly 15 percent of the
Earth s total electricity generation.9 The benefits hydroelectricity speak for themselves;
hydroelectricity yields no direct waste, has a relatively low costs and expenses, and releases
considerably less carbon dioxide emissions than the burning of fossil fuels. However, some recent
studies have suggested that the vast benefits of hydroelectricity do not outweigh the damaging
effects on the surrounding ecosystem. Hydroelectric power has been used in its most basic form in
ancient times to perform agricultural and other labor

Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham
Gurinder Chadha, the director of Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, invisions similar
ideas in both films. This can be seen throughout both movies by the way the protagonists gets told
what to do by their mothers due to their gender. Another concept that has been used in both films is
the difference in cultures between Indians and Americans. Gurinder Chadha shows this by putting
the two cultures next to each other so we can see the differences and similarities between them.
Culture clash is when different cultures have a difference in their beliefs and their values. Most of
Gurinder Chadha s movies contain characters from different cultures that have different beliefs and
ideas. She also puts the characters in a different country so we can see their experiences of another

Without not knowing too much about Indian culture, Darcy wore white to the wedding, as in his
culture(American) white is worn at weddings. However, white in Indian culture is worn in
funerals as it shows peace and purity. It is very rude to wear white for a wedding in India. This
scene is a great example of culture clash as the film technique of costume is shown through the
different clothes they wear in events which causes the two cultures to clash with each other. In
Bend It like Beckham, after winning the final soccer game. The protagonist (Jesminder) is getting
dressed into her clothes that she will wear at the wedding. Her teammates that were helping her are
fascinated by the colourful clothing and the difference in styles compared to their own english
culture. There is also a scene in which the mother of Jesminder is angry at Jesminder for wearing
shorts while playing football. She says I don t want you running around half naked in front of men,
huh? This shows that Indians normally wear long clothing that covers most of their skin, while the
English people wear casual clothing, either short or long. Although the characters in both films don

Cyrus Cylinder Compare And Contrast
The Cyrus Cylinder and Isaiah 44:24 45:7 show very similar plots but when looking at the details
of the story the differences are easily spotted. The main characters for instance show very different
traits about them, one is very powerful and compassionate while the other is
Omnipotent and Omniscient. The way they conquer their rightful cities are pretty different as
well, in one story for instance they are backed up by an army and in the other they just don t need
one. Also, who the glory goes to, to me at least, seems like the biggest difference of these two
stories. One more difference is the relationship between the two main characters in each of these
stories. They both although, similarly use Cyrus as an important character in their ... Show more

The Cyrus Cylinder shows the main character Marduk as compassionate and having good intentions
but also able to make mistakes, some human characteristics show in him in that sense. Marduk is
noticeably not the most powerful of the gods either. The other star of the story shows characteristics
like pride, confidence, and selfishness. On the other hand in Isaiah,
44:24 45:7, God is perfect and is all powerful, he says There is no God but Me (Isaiah 45:5).
God says Who says to the depths of the sea, Be dry, and I will dry up your rivers; who says to
Cyrus My shepherd, he will fulfill all My pleasure and says to Jerusalem, She will be rebuilt,
(Isaiah 44:27 28). Cyrus although is barely mentioned at all, a single time in Isaiah
44:28.
Cyrus and Marduk take over Babylon seemingly different than God and Cyrus does.
Cyrus and Marduk come into Babylon with a whole army of Guti people behind them. The Cyrus
Cylinder also says that they got into Babylon without any fighting or battle. God does not even
mention any army, He uses Isaiah 44:24 45:7 to show His great power, to point out that God is

Analysis Of Elizabeth Browning s Sonnets
Elizabeth Browning s Sonnets from the Portuguese was published during the Victorian Era, which
was an intense time where poetry was governed by male poets and writers. Women were to remain
silent in poetry, pursue their education, and be controlled by the desires of their father or other male
authoritative figure. The sonnets, at this time, were a form often used for poetrywhere the men
would address a maiden as an object and subject of love. Elizabeth s sonnets was a representation of
her response to the society s tradition, which brought about a challenge to modern concepts of
gender equality. They not only relate a courtship between a man and a woman, but also a
transformation of a woman to a poet. This shows the proto feminist side of the speaker, but she
does not solely focus on this matter throughout the sonnet, instead she focuses solely on the
equality that men and women achieve through love. In Sonnets from the Portuguese, the speaker
frees herself from being both the object and subject of love and poetic thought by addressing a
man as an object and controlling her own voice and desires to obtain equality. During the
Victorian Era, women were controlled by their father or other authoritative figure and what he
desired. Addressing the Sonnets from the Portuguese, the speaker reflects on her past life, stating,
The sweet, sad years, the melancholy years, / Those of my own life (7 8). This is a reference to the
speaker s difficult early life, which was caused from

Task Analysis Behavior/Skill to be Trained The skill I will be focusing on with the employees of
Alam Realty is how to better communicate using non verbal communication. Non verbal
communication such as active listening, watching for customer s body language cues and being
aware of their own body positions, are important skills for sales professionals because the sales
transaction depends on good communication. From the Needs Assessment, it has been determined
there are several areas of non communication that need to be covered in training. Listening skills

story and see if they notice the difference in the non verbal techniques. The icebreaker will be
another lesson in non verbal body language which should give the trainees a good understanding
of what the training session will be focused on. I will then show a PowerPoint presentation and
lecture on what non verbal communication is and how to look for body language cues in other
people. There will be time for questions and answers at this point. There will be a 15 minute
break at this point. After the break, I will ask the class to give me all the non verbal gestures
they can think of and I will write these down on the white board. We will then put them into lists
of good and bad gestures. This will give the trainees a good idea of what the good non verbal
cues are and how to start focusing on them. I will present the class with sales scenarios and since
we will have approximately 8 people in the class I will have each one take turns in being the real

Should We Love Spartacus
Some people would argue that this new World referred to above looks suspiciously a lot like the
old one, if you look closely enough. As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss
Spartacus without bringing politics into it. Those who criticize it seem to be objecting not just
to the choreography but to its subject matter and its putative political outlook. Any implications
about the views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if
accurate and therefore depressing) are highly problematic though. It would be interesting to
know, but should it really matter to us whether Putin loves Spartacus? Do all people who like a
work of art , a person, a nation, or anything else like it (or him/her) for the same reasons? Would
Spartacus love Putin or Hitler or Spartacus? Should we loathe Wagner s music because the Nazis
loved it? Should we burn all the copies of Leni Riefenstahl s movies because they glorify a
hideous, dangerous political movement and philosophy? And while we are at it all copies of The
Birth of a Nation because of its blatant racism? On and on. Classical ballet represents an
eminently worthy and civilized attempt to escape from all the ugly, brutal realities of the world or

Remittance In Haiti
Remittance occurs when an expatriate sends funds to their country of origin. It provides an
outside source of income for the country while forcing citizens to look for jobs outside of these
underdeveloped nations. Investopedia mentions the importance of this to the economic
development of countries by stating that in 2014 $583 billion in USD was transferred between
countries, $436 Billion in USD was transferred was received by developing countries
(Investopedia, 2005). This fact demonstrates how the emergence of remittance with globalization
has opened up developing countries to new economic opportunities. Haiti has become a key
example of how a country has become reliable on this form of economic contribution. According to

The St. James The Apostle Catholic Church
The St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia was my second church visit. I
visited the Catholic Church on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the eleven o clock service. The
church is located on 1000 Decatur Rd. McDonough, GA 30253. I assumed that the Presbyterian
Church was very different from my community church but the St. James the Apostle Catholic
Churchexperience was no comparison to the Covenant Presbyterian Church whatsoever.
The first thing that I have noticed about the church is that there was unique artwork all over the
building. There were many men displayed on the front of the church building with different
figure types and wearing different clothes. The church artwork was very detailed and creative. It
was a type of artwork that I have never seen before. I also noticed a huge cross in the center of
the church building that had several figures of men surrounding the church. I had stared at the
front of the building for about five minutes before I finally walked into the church. As people were
walking inside the church, they were in formal attire. Both the men and women were well dressed
for the sermon. Once I walked inside the church, I happened to notice a huge fountain in the center
of the isle. The fountain contained holy water and several people were randomly dipping their
finger in the water and then do a sign of the cross on the chests. I assumed it was a tradition that
Catholics did before attending their seats. Rather than the church having

Introduction:
Tragedy stuck America on November 4th of 1979, when 52 hostages were seized at the American
Embassy in Iran during the midst of the Iranian Revolution. Different policy approaches prompted
a vast range of potential actions, and ultimately Operation Eagle Claw was carried out between
April 21st and 25th of 1980. The two primary executive divisions in dispute during decision
process were the National Security Council (NCS) and its advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and
Secretary of the Department of State (DOS), Cyrus Vance. The decision for the use of military
force, rather than continuing economic sanctions and diplomacy, was due to Carter s attempt at re
election and a lack of resistance from Congress. This paper will begin by providing background
information on the Iranian Hostage Crises, then shifts to the different viewpoints taken by the
divisions of the executive branch. This will provide the different policy options and supporting
actors. The final part of the paper will focus on the foreign policy outcome.

How Self Regulation Impacts Resilience
General
These papers were chosen as they provide insight into how self regulation impacts resilience. As
resilience is a broad topic, these papers provide insight into self regulation can benefit a variety of
areas including neurological, epidemiological and how they can be implemented in therapeutic real

This article is a cross sectional study that examines the extent to which self regulatory skills
occur in resilient versus non resilient youth. Along with the cross sectional method, the study
also has a person focused approach allowing for a more holistic approach, though a variable
focused approach is used when examining resilience to produce empirical results. It employs a
variety of tests to measure the wide range of factors from prevalence of clinical disorders, such as
anxiety, to the impact of chronic stressors, and competence in tasks required in daily life, within
the developmental status of the individual. The study recognizes its limitations in determining
causality due to the cross sectional nature of the study, as well as possible under reporting on
topics such as history of abuse. The study takes into consideration a wide variety of factors
appropriate to a topic as broad as resilience, including socioeconomic

The Effect Of Sodium Chloride On The Germination Rate Of...
Introduction
The purpose of this experiment is to observe the effects of Sodium Chloride (NaCl) on the
germination rate of Wisconsin Fast Plants.
Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed
through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life
cycle of around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In
addition, WFPs are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive
(Williams). Their simple needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in
experiments.
Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the
seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water.
Then, the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and
leaves develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The
Learning Garden 2001).
NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and
germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species
ability to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called
glycophytes, meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study
specific to WFP germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs

What Is Listening And Why Is It Important
What is Listening and why is it important? This paper will address the viewpoint of listening skills
and its outcome. Listening is an essential tool, which is one of the constructive aspects in the
communication process, for communicating with other people. To listen well is a knack that is
learned. However, for people to listen effectively, they would need to practice to obtain the skill. As
with any new skill, learningto listen takes effort, attention, and practice (Stewart, 2006, p.
202).Listening skills allow people to make sense of and understand what another person is saying.
In other words, listening skills allow you to identify with the meaning of what people are talking
about.
Listening skills is a beneficially sensible ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
How to Listen
The first aspect of listening is to learn how to listen effectively. In today s society, communicating
appropriately has everything to do with listening. Learning to be a good listener will help improve
all relationships both professionally and personally. If people do not know how to listen well, they
can easily be distracted and their mind will start to wander. Since listening plays an essential role in
the communication process, developing listening skills are important because they will help
interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. In other words, the listener should be able to
respond to what the speaker talked about for clarification purposes. Accordingly, to become a better
listener, and depending on the situation, there are three types of listening strategies that would be
beneficial to ensure effective communication with other people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states
that active listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are three different tactics that can be
used in diverse situations (p. 92).
For instance, critical listeners focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They
need to recognize and expect to learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their
viewpoints. A second instance is that of empathic listeners. Their center of attention involves
listening with emotion they actually

Pros And Cons Of Plant Reproduction System
1.0 Plant Reproduction System
Plant reproduction is the process of reproducing a certain species of plant continuing its existence.
A plant is made up of organs and cells that help it reproduce sexually or asexually. Both
reproduction methods having its advantages and disadvantages. 1.1 Plant Reproductive System
Organs
The reproduction system for plants consists of the anther, stigma and ovule. The image by Hans
Lambers (2016) shows that pollen is created through the stamen (anther (which is held up by a
filament). The pollen is then moved through wind, water or animal to the stigma of the plant part
of the pistil where the pollen germinates (The Parts of a Flower, n.d.). Which is then moved down
the pollen tube (inside the style) where it reaches the ovary and fertilizes the ovule and reproduce.
1.2 Plant Reproductive System Cells
Plant reproduction consists of two cells. The pollen grains contains male gametophytes (the male
sex cell) which is created through the process of meiosis (sex cell multiplying). On the other hand,
the ovule, which is held within the ovary, contains female gametophytes (the female sex cell) which
is also created through the process of meiosis.
2.0 Animal Reproductive System
Animal reproduction, like plant reproduction, is the process of creating a being with similar genes
to the parent animal to continue its race. An animal reproductive system is made up of cells and
organs depending on the sex of the animal, both meeting up to create a

High School fails to provide their students with wholesome meals. As you may know, the Lodi
Unified School District has food services that promotes and brings attention to our freshly prepared
schoolmeals made from California grown products (School NutritionAnd Fitness). To promote even
healthier eating, McNair actively participates in the USDA case study, inviting mobile carts to
bring lunch closer to the students (School Nutrition And Fitness). Even with additional efforts put
forth, students still find the lunches unappetizing (due to low grade food quality) and prefer to eat
other alternatives.
According to Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, authors of No lunch left behind an article published
in The New York Times on February 19, 2009, the National School Lunch Program is a poor
investment. The authors informed the public that of $9 billion, very little actually goes into the
food. They demand fresh alternatives provided by local farmers and refine school equipment, to
instead prepare fresh nutritious meals for the school. Although we may produce some meals at the
school, there are still ways to improve the equipment to better serve the students. Education about
sensible eating is also recommended, as it will teach students a nourishing lifestyle outside of
school. With a well constructed plan that upgrades the quality of the food and food education, it
will surely make our school healthier!
Waters and Heron do have a point. Creating our own fresh lunches at the school have perks, but
what about food options? A better idea would be to advance on vegetarian options that cater more
vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy foods, and more dairy products. Creating new and exciting
options will attract more students to lunch and they may even start to find the lunch appetizing. On
September 14, 2017, an ERWC class taught by Edward Cruz conducted an eleven question survey
about eating habits and preferences at McNair. The survey questioned the appeal of school lunches
and found that only 31% of students found the

Erzebet Bathony Essay
In 1560 Erzebet Bathory was born into one of the oldest and wealthiest families in Transylvania.
Her ancestors had assisted Vlad Dracule during his rise to power; other relatives went on to
become cardinals, princes, Prime Ministers, and King of Poland. She was a healthy, energetic
child, a quality found to be unique for someone of her social status. She was also vain, often
boasting of her fresh complexion that she believed was her best feature. Well educated, Erzebet
was able to both read and write in four languages.
At the age of 11, she was arranged in marriage to 16 year old Ferencz Nadasdy. To Erzebet, an
arrangement was not the same as a commitment and at 14 found herself pregnant after a fling with a

When pricey clothing and cosmetics stopped hiding the wrinkles, she obsessed on finding a cure.
One day, she believed, she found the answer she had been searching for.
A servant girl was brushing Erzebet s hair when she did something to upset the Countess. Erzebet
struck the girl causing her face to bleed, a few drops falling on Erzebet s hand. As she furiously
wiped away the blood, Erzebet noticed the skin looked younger. She was instantly convinced the
blood of young girls was the key to eternal beauty.
Erzebet s helpers began combing the countryside by the dark of night in search of worthy girls.
Once they were brought to the castle, they were stripped naked and hung upside down by chains.
Then their throats would be slit, the blood draining into a bath below. Erzebet would then bathe in
the fresh warm blood.
She followed this routine for 5 years before she decided the results were much less than she
desired. Undeterred, Erzebet rationalized that better blood was needed. In 1609, she founded an
academy in the Castle taking in 25 noble girls at a time after promising their families she would
properly finish the girls education. Little did the parents know their daughters would meet the same
fate as the peasant girls.
The ease with which she could now obtain her victims caused Erzebet to act recklessly. Victims
were tortured for weeks, even months, before they were murdered. They endured such tortures

The Truth And Reconciliation Commission ( Trc )
Introduction
Between the years of 1870 and 1996, more than 150,000 indigenous children were forcibly removed
from their communities, and sent to Indian residential schools. Generation after generation of
indigenous children were denied the right to speak their own language, explore spirituality and to
learn about their rich cultural history. These schools were designed to assimilate indigenous
children into the society of the European settlers. It was under that system that Aboriginal children
were required to attend schools that would take the Indian out of the child, in hopes to solve the
Indian problem .
On June 2nd, 2008, nearly 20 years after the last residential school closed, The Truth and
Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was formed in response to the legacy left behind by the Indian
residential school system. The TRC is not a government appointed commission that was created to
negotiate legal counsel for surviving students, involved churches, the Assembly of First Nations, as
well as the Canadian government. However, the main objective was to allow victims of the
schools to be acknowledge, have their stories shared, and be accepted.
Residential School History
Assimilation was the goal of European settlers, even before confederation in 1867. In 1857, the
Gradual Civilization Act was passed by the Legislature of the Province of Canada with the aim of
assimilating First Nations people. Through out Canadian history, non aboriginals have gained
control over aboriginal

Essay Stephen Jay Gould Nonmoral Nature
Evil in Nature and a Benevolent God
The idea of the existence of evil in nature many times creates arguments between creationists and
scientists concerning not only the design of nature by a creator God, but the actual benevolence
of God. In Stephen Jay Gould s essay Nonmoral Nature (1984), he explores this highly
controversial issue by posing the question: If God is good and if creation reveals his goodness,
why are we surrounded with pain, suffering, and apparently senseless cruelty in the animal world?
He uses the life span of the parasitic ichneumon wasp to illustrate a scientific view that the concept
of evil is limited to human beings and that the world of nature is unconcerned with it. To some ...

Environmental conditions deteriorated as a reflection of man s declining moral character and
religious commitments. Chaos began to creep into their physical world. William Kirby (1835)
wrote in one of the famous Bridgewater Treatises on natural theology that God created fleas, lice,
and intestinal parasites after the fall of Adam and Eve. It was also after the fall of man that he
became aware that nature as beneficial and beautiful as God had created it, also had a cruel and
dangerous side. The once perfect world had no pathogenic organisms. Bacteria for example,
played a purely beneficial role in the ecology of paradise. Even in the Garden of Eden, there had
to be some type of garbage or refuse. Flower petals and fallen fruit would litter the ground unless
some microbial force broke them down into useful organic matter. However, after man s fall,
strains of bacteria became toxic and man realized that accidentally eating toxic plants could kill
him, there were disease epidemics, and major struggles to protect his food crop from disease, plant
and animal pests (Wheeler, Gerald). Not long after that did the violence of man evolve and spread
throughout the land.
Another crisis stressed the earth s ecology as a result of man s corruption,

Examples Of Light And Darkness In Fahrenheit 451
In Fahrenheit 45, Ray Bradbury uses the motifs of light and darkness to develop characters and
demonstrate that knowledge and ignorance impact the wellbeing of society . The motifs of light
and darkness show the crucial effects of knowledge and ignorance on society; knowledge brings
happiness and meaning that ignorance hinders. Demonstrating the effects of knowledge, Clarisse
and her family, as nonconformist of their society, are intellectual as a result of their exposure to
books. Unlike the overwhelming majority of the society, Clarisse and her family are able to
withhold a conversation that goes beyond most people s field of interest. Montag witnesses this
early in the morning after Millie overdoses on pills, and he hears... Show more content on

Montag witnesses the amiable effects of knowledge on Clarisse when he first meets her and
becomes exposed to her powerful curiosity and intellect. During this encounter, Montag observes
that her face was [a] fragile milk crystal with a soft constant light in [...] the strangely comfortable
and rare and gently flattering light of the candle, (Bradbury 5). The light used to describe Clarisse
symbolizes her wisdom that she uses to entice Montag. As a result, she is described in pleasurable
way, connoted through Bradbury s use of the words soft, comfortable, and gently flattering. This
shows that Clarisse s intellect develops her character as delightful throughout the novel. Unlike
Clarisse, other figures in the novel are portrayed through the motif of darkness. The firemen, as
conformist, burn books in their society to maintain equality. After his final encounter with Clarisse,
Montag observes the firemen in the firehouse as they lit their eternally burning black pipes. They
and their charcoal hair and soot colored brows and bluish ash smeared cheeks, (Bradbury 30). The
firemen burn books, the essence of knowledge, thus they are responsible for the widespread
establishment of ignorance in their society. As a result, the firemen are described with dark features
through the words charcoal, ash, and soot. The connotation of these dark adjectives contributes to
the characterization of the firemen as destructive, representing their ruination of society. Therefore,
the motifs of light and dark contribute to the characterization of Clarisse and the

PLANNED CHANGE
1. Unfreeze This was so interesting to read about. The unfreeze phase took a lot of courage
especially since this was not a company in crisis. Although concerns were mentioned, nothing really
stood out as a motivating factor to induce fundamental change. So the consultant Bob Janson,
helped to coagulate the feeling of guilt through finding the Positive Dissatisfaction within the
organization at AAL. I was engrossed reading about the snapshot in time they created by
performing structured interview through a diagonal cross section of the company. Through the
interviews, the gap between where the company wanted to be and where it really was became clear.
They used this as a tool to work on the employees and get them on board with the planned
organizational transformation. Through the process of change at the corporate level, the inclination
for restructuring at IPS grew. It was fully supported by the new management team. IPS had several
concerns around which to formulate the reason for change. They set some broad parameters, which
they then designed into a detailed plan. Communication became the most important thing at this
point, which they struggled with for a while, due to the sheer size of the department in terms of
head count. During this communication effort, the rationale for change, minor

The United States General Election Essay
While the 2016 United States general election has been in itself special with regards to the deep
division among the electorate and lack of favorability of the two frontrunners for the presidency,
it still has the unique American system of being dominated by two major political parties;
Republicans and Democrats. Over time these political parties have experienced massive changes
but in modern America they have crafted very unique identities. With regards to social issues such
as abortion rights and treatment of minority groups and economic issues such as fiscal spending,
income taxes and welfare, Republicans in general have been characterized as mainly conservative,
tax averse and against government entitlements while Democrats have been generally
characterized as mainly liberal on these same issues. Altogether political affiliations to either the
right or the left can be categorized based on their preference for stability. Liberals are generally
seen as being more adaptable to a changing environment for example in the case for LGBTQ rights
where the changing environment has generally led them to be more acceptable while conservatives
are more likely to be less open, sticking to what they consider traditional values. These attributes
have for a long time been seen to be largely determined by the political atmosphere in an individuals
environment but growing research has shown that these characteristics have a significant
association with human genetics. In this paper I

Hillside Strangler Case Solution
The Hillside Strangler was the name given to two killers who strangled and killed their victims,
dumping their bodies in the hills of Los Angeles. These killings took place during October 1977
and February 1978, involving ten young women ranging from ages 12 to 28. With over one
hundred law enforcement task force members working to solve this case, the fear within the
community was undeniably present. It wasn t long before the clues would come in one by one,
helping detectives solve this heinous crime. Once two sets of DNA was revealed on the crime
scenes, policerealized they had not just one, but two killers. The killers were later discovered to
be cousins Kenneth Alessio Bianchi and Angelo Anthony Buono. Kenneth Bianchi was born in
Rochester, New York to a prostitute mother and was given up for adoption when he was born.
His upbringing was normal, but he was known to be a pathological liar. He had a fantasy about
joining the police force, but when he applied both in New York and Los Angeles, he was rejected.
In 1975 Bianchi decided to move to Los Angeles to stay with his role model and older cousin
Angelo Buono. He ends up living with Buono, becoming a part of his sexual urges, and
ultimately killing innocent women. Angelo Buono was also born in Rochester, New York to
Italian immigrant parents, and moved to Glendale California when he was five years old. His
interest about sex started at a young age, and as a teenager had claimed to have raped several girls.

memories of birthday parties and sleepovers. However, her goal of writing this piece was not to
educate the reader about her love for pizza, but to draw the reader into the piece of writing so she
can give support for why organic food is better than conventional. The reader is able to connect

Further, she starts to say that the biggest difference in the money spent on conventional than
organic is milk. She is able to use facts that say that organic makes about nine dollars more than
convectional per a hundred pounds. However, she continues by saying there have been studies
that explain that conventional way of farming causes miscarriages, low sperm counts, premature
birth, and birth defects. While conventional is cheaper than organic, however it saves peoples
lives in the long run. She is able to use sources time and time again to support her argument. Mrs.
Steingraber would make claims of the differences between wheat flour, olive oil, tomatoes and
garlic; the ingredients of pizza. Indeed most of the conventional being cheaper time and time
again, but she explains the differences and the way the ingredients are being treated. In
conclusion for her argument with why organic is better, she continues to say how she wants to
make not only the farming community better, but help save the ozone layer, prevent cancer, and
protect drinking water. Her final thought is that the total cost of pizza organic is six dollars and
eighty five cents. While conventional is four dollars and fifty cents, she wants to leave with the
thought of would you want to sacrifice your health for a pizza that is two dollars cheaper? Her
strategy of making the point for organic food was very consistent

The Effects Of Manic Depression On My Undergraduate Majors...
Mom is in the hospital again, my father said to me over the phone one evening this past April.
Having spent the majority of that day at work counseling and planning for a client with suicidal
ideation, my father s phone call instantly put me on alert. Unfortunately, this was not the first time I
received this call regarding my mother. Manic depression has been a lifelong battle and this was
her third suicide attempt. However this time was different; this time, I knew how to react and how
to help her.
My undergraduate majors at Syracuse University were psychology and forensic science. As part of
the curriculum, I took a variety of classes such as abnormal psychology and forensic mental health,
all of which taught me a great deal about mental illness. Book knowledge in hand, I then applied
myself to hands on training through multiple internships during college and a full time job as a
psychiatric counselor after graduating in 2014.
In 2011 and 2013, I had two summer internships with Cornerstone Montgomery: the first working in
the Life Skills Program, and the second working in their 24 hour crisis residential facility. While
working in the Life Skills Program, I fostered my interest in working with those who suffer from
severe and persistent mental illness. I taught my clients skills needed for rehabilitation including
eating healthy on a budget, basic computer skills, and medication management. When I returned to
Cornerstone Montgomery in 2013, they asked me to intern in

Classical Conditioning In Relation to Distrust in...
Classical conditioning is the theory that involves a subject learning a new behavior by the process
of association. A naturally occuring stimulus (the unconditioned stimulus) is paired with a response
(the unconditioned response). Then, a neutral stimulus (the conditioned stimulus) is paired with the
unconditioned stimulus and eventually the conditioned stimulus produces the initial response of
the unconditioned stimulus without the unconditioned stimulus being present. The response,
therefore, becomes the conditioned response. This study had a major influence on the
psychological study of behaviorism. Behaviorism is based on the assumption that learning occurs
through interactions with the environment (Cherry 1). Classical conditioning... Show more content

For the second stage, a white rat was used as Watson s CS, the CS must be a neutral stimulus that
initially has no effect on the UR. Little Albert showed no phobia towards the rat before conditioning
occurred. By pairing the US with the CS, the infant learned to associate the loud noise of the
hammer and metal bar with the white rat. After strengthening the association between the US and
the CS by repetition, Little Albert eventually became fearful and upset when only presented with
the once neutral stimulus, the white rat. This response was the CR which marked the completion
of step three. Little Albert was now afraid of the white rat because it triggered his fear of the loud
noise. Classical conditioning can be used to prove many forms of behavior between subjects when
looking at the the right unconditioned/ conditioned stimuli and unconditioned/ conditioned
responses. The theory of classical conditioning can be used to explain the development of distrust
and trust issues in the relationships between people. Trust: belief that someone or something is
reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). Distrust in a relationship
occurs when the trust between two people is diminished. Distrust can have many negative affects
on a person including: trust issues, anxiety, suspicion, fear of opening up, etc. Symptoms of distrust
can depend on the severity of the distrust in the

Patriarchal Theory Of Domestic Violence
Social Learning Theory In many ways, the differences between men and women in elements of
domestic violence reflect Social Learning Theory. Family violence during childhood years is a
contributing factor to being an adult in a domestic violence situation as either the perpetrator or the
victim (Swan, 2008). Social expectations of men can lead to less men reporting abuse or accessing
treatment programs for victims. It is possible for malevictim to have shame or embarrassment due to
stereotypical judgments on masculinity.
The traditional expectation that women are compliant and submissive may play a role in domestic
violence differences. Societies view on women being weak, vulnerable, and easily exploited
contributes to the physical differences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Interpersonal Violence is amongst one of the violations these behaviors can contribute to.
Verbal and physical abuse is harmful behaviors that can be experienced. The conceptualized
past, future, and self, gain power over behavior which contributes to inflexibility. Emotions and
thoughts are commonly used as reasons for actions, giving person psychological inflexibility.
This could play a part on why perpetrators use excuses such as, it s your fault, jealousy, and
assumptions etc. as reasons for abuse. Victims also use the inflexibility as excuses for not
seeking help such as it s my fault, I shouldn t have done or said something, or any excuse to
protect their partner. People lose contact with what they want in life, beyond relief from
psychological pain. Patterns of action emerge and gradually dominate in the person s repertoire
that is detached from long term desired qualities of living. Behavioral repertoires narrow and
become less sensitive to the current context as it affords valued actions. Persistence and change in
the service of effectiveness is less likely.

Relationship Between Parents And Parents Spend More Time...
Simple causal relationship tells of the varied effects to society when parents spend more time with
their children. Again, the report by Gerard Clark from New Zealand puts into words some of these
effects. He pointed out how secure attachment formed in the early months, between parent and
child, is a predictor of resilience in later life . He also pointed to how many adolescent issues like
crime, drug abuse, and mental health have their roots in early childhood.
In an article for The Washington Post, author Jane Waldfogel pointed us to a study in Norway
linking the reduction in high school dropout rate to the country s generous parental leave statute.
This lower dropout rate, they claimed, is because of parental involvement in the early months of the
child s life, a very crucial stage when fathers connect with their children and form the foundations of
future relationship; when mothers get to provide the nourishment that their baby needs through
breastfeeding and the emotional connection this practice forms. Again, a properly designed parental
leave can encourage mothers to nurse their babies, a practice that apparently not only helps make
healthy babies now but also well rounded adults later (n. pag.).
Perhaps another reason more involved parents discourage children from dropping out of school is
the amount of support and guidance they are able to relay to their children. This perceived interest
from parents encourages children to achieve more to make their parents proud.

Community Engagement In The Community
Engaging ourselves as well as engaging in the community with issues of our society makes us open
to different things. Community engagement is the process of working with individuals and groups
to achieve specific goals. It involves community members with making decisions and taking action.
This process of creating a relationship with communitymembers in society that can maintain a
mission with an ultimate goal of making something better. It s an ongoing process with
collaborative work, cooperative dialogue, collective decisions and shared ownership. There are
many different activities that community engagementis involved with, which are community
service, internships, voter s registration, service learning and etc. The primary focus of community
engagement is the practice of moving communities towards change.
The transformation from high school to college was very big for me. Only because I was a
loner and I didn t really get involved with groups nor did I have a social life outside of playing
basketball. When I came to college I made up in my mind that I was going to change. Once I was
introduced to the four pathways that Methodist offered I decide to choose community
engagement. Community engagement fits me best because it gives me a chance to interact with
people and also voices my opinion. I wanted to work on enhancing this aspect because I m a very
shy person with a lot to say. The program would also give me some good information to learn from
and gain knowledge.

The Rot The Heart Of The Brazilian Economy Summary
Since the great depression, our understanding of what makes an economy grow or contract
changed a bit. New macroeconomics concepts became popular, sometimes even taking place of
classic ones. Using those concepts, Christopher Sabatini wrote the article The Rot the Heart of
the Brazilian Economy , published by the Foreign Policy (FP) website on last February. In the
article, Sabatini tries to explain what went wrong with the once very prosperous Brazilian
economy, which in the past years has been diving into a recession that is so deep that many
economists already call it a depression. The purpose of this paper is to explain Keynesian model

First, let us remember that when the government sells bonds with bigger yields, everyone will
be interested in taking advantage of that opportunity, not only Americans. In fact, foreigners can

This paper will attempt to argue why the act of preserving and restoring historic structures is a
much better option than demolishing them. The essay will use the powerful tool of reliable and
relevant sources to support the essay s claim about historic restoration. In addition, this argument
will present the opposition s claims and why they may or may not be correct in the process of
improving a historic structure. The essay will separate the ideological differences between
demolishing structures and restoring them. Initially, this paper will introduce the main underlying
problem with the opposing argument. Then, the paper will establish two main points as to why the

Building demolition is never the answer, and restoration will always be the better option. This will
ensure we can save and remember how societies of those who lived before us built their buildings.
Although there are many ways building restoration will always be the better option, one crucial
way is that restoration preserves the cultural identity of a structure, while demolition destroys it. At
this moment, there might be a question raised: What exactly is the cultural identity of a structure or
building? Well, that is actually quite simple. When we speak of historic structures, we typically are
referring to those that are very, very aged structures that have a magnitude of uniqueness to them.

structure is demolished, how would that reflected culture ever be remembered? That s just it, it
wouldn t be able to be remembered, and that s where the underlying problem is. Like what I ve just
mentioned, Washington Trust For Historic Preservation stated in their Benefits for Historic
Preservation article, By preserving historic structures, we are able to share the very spaces and

tangible conservation of cultural identity (para. 3). Essentially, demolition results in destruction of

The Fixer Essay
The Fixer
In the novel, The Fixer, the author, Bernard Malamud, presents to us a poor Jewish handyman
living in Russia during the early 1900 s, before the Russian revolution had begun. Destroyed by
his wife s disavowal, Yakov Shepsovitch Bok leaves his shtetl in search of opportunities for a
better life. After a few months of desperate searching, Yakov sneaks out of the ghetto to look for
work among the goyim. As he searches the streets, he stumbles upon a man who lay drunk on the
floor. Yakov immediately recognizes a pin on the man s coatas belonging to the anti Semite
organization called the Black Hundreds. Putting his doubts behind him, Yakov decides to help the
fat Russian. Not aware of Yakov s origins, the Russian offers him a... Show more content on

He states he is a Jew only by birth and nationality, though nobody understands what is meant by
that. To the Russians he is legally a mere Jew. At one point Yakov says to himself I m Yakov

One thing I must learn is to say less much less, or I ll ruin myself. As it is I m already ruined.
During his first few months in prison, Yakov does not seem to get accustomed to the hardships.
As time passes him by, however, he grows used to life in a prison cell, but it only gets worst. As
the novel unfolds, Yakov becomes extremely weak and thin and he looses the trifling faith that was
still left in him.
Throughout the novel, the main idea is very obvious.
It is Yakov falsely accused of the murder of a young boy in order to drain his blood for the
baking of the Passover matzos. The theme of anti Semitism in Russia during the time of
pogroms and of Tsar Nicholas the second is a universal theme presented to us as the book
unravels. It is evident that if Yakov had not been born of the Jewish faith, he would not have been
charged with the murder of Zhenia Golov. He was being used only as an example to the three
million Jewish residents of Russia. He was being used as a warning. The meaning of the title The

  • 2. The Effects Of Renewable Energy On The Earth s Climate Over the years, the unequivocal increase in the Earth s climate has been an issue concerning environmentalists and other scientists. With overwhelming evidence pointing to environmentally damaging human behavior as the culprit for the Earth s rising temperature, a search for cleaner and renewable energy sources creates a vastly growing alternative energy industry. One of the most widely used forms of renewable energyis hydroelectricity. Like the name implies, hydroelectricity refers to the generation of electricity through use of hydropower. In particular, the gravitational energy of falling, flowing, or spinning water can be transferred to electric energy through Newton s Law of Conservation of Energy (i.e. energy cannot be created or destroyed, but can be transferred from one form to another).9 This renewable energy source has grown in popularity vastly over time since the industrial revolution, and now accounts for nearly 15 percent of the Earth s total electricity generation.9 The benefits hydroelectricity speak for themselves; hydroelectricity yields no direct waste, has a relatively low costs and expenses, and releases considerably less carbon dioxide emissions than the burning of fossil fuels. However, some recent studies have suggested that the vast benefits of hydroelectricity do not outweigh the damaging effects on the surrounding ecosystem. Hydroelectric power has been used in its most basic form in ancient times to perform agricultural and other labor ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Similarities Between Bend It Like Beckham Gurinder Chadha, the director of Bend It Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice, invisions similar ideas in both films. This can be seen throughout both movies by the way the protagonists gets told what to do by their mothers due to their gender. Another concept that has been used in both films is the difference in cultures between Indians and Americans. Gurinder Chadha shows this by putting the two cultures next to each other so we can see the differences and similarities between them. Culture clash is when different cultures have a difference in their beliefs and their values. Most of Gurinder Chadha s movies contain characters from different cultures that have different beliefs and ideas. She also puts the characters in a different country so we can see their experiences of another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Without not knowing too much about Indian culture, Darcy wore white to the wedding, as in his culture(American) white is worn at weddings. However, white in Indian culture is worn in funerals as it shows peace and purity. It is very rude to wear white for a wedding in India. This scene is a great example of culture clash as the film technique of costume is shown through the different clothes they wear in events which causes the two cultures to clash with each other. In Bend It like Beckham, after winning the final soccer game. The protagonist (Jesminder) is getting dressed into her clothes that she will wear at the wedding. Her teammates that were helping her are fascinated by the colourful clothing and the difference in styles compared to their own english culture. There is also a scene in which the mother of Jesminder is angry at Jesminder for wearing shorts while playing football. She says I don t want you running around half naked in front of men, huh? This shows that Indians normally wear long clothing that covers most of their skin, while the English people wear casual clothing, either short or long. • 4. Cyrus Cylinder Compare And Contrast The Cyrus Cylinder and Isaiah 44:24 45:7 show very similar plots but when looking at the details of the story the differences are easily spotted. The main characters for instance show very different traits about them, one is very powerful and compassionate while the other is Omnipotent and Omniscient. The way they conquer their rightful cities are pretty different as well, in one story for instance they are backed up by an army and in the other they just don t need one. Also, who the glory goes to, to me at least, seems like the biggest difference of these two stories. One more difference is the relationship between the two main characters in each of these stories. They both although, similarly use Cyrus as an important character in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Cyrus Cylinder shows the main character Marduk as compassionate and having good intentions but also able to make mistakes, some human characteristics show in him in that sense. Marduk is noticeably not the most powerful of the gods either. The other star of the story shows characteristics like pride, confidence, and selfishness. On the other hand in Isaiah, 44:24 45:7, God is perfect and is all powerful, he says There is no God but Me (Isaiah 45:5). God says Who says to the depths of the sea, Be dry, and I will dry up your rivers; who says to Cyrus My shepherd, he will fulfill all My pleasure and says to Jerusalem, She will be rebuilt, (Isaiah 44:27 28). Cyrus although is barely mentioned at all, a single time in Isaiah 44:28. Cyrus and Marduk take over Babylon seemingly different than God and Cyrus does. Cyrus and Marduk come into Babylon with a whole army of Guti people behind them. The Cyrus Cylinder also says that they got into Babylon without any fighting or battle. God does not even mention any army, He uses Isaiah 44:24 45:7 to show His great power, to point out that God is greater than all ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of Elizabeth Browning s Sonnets Elizabeth Browning s Sonnets from the Portuguese was published during the Victorian Era, which was an intense time where poetry was governed by male poets and writers. Women were to remain silent in poetry, pursue their education, and be controlled by the desires of their father or other male authoritative figure. The sonnets, at this time, were a form often used for poetrywhere the men would address a maiden as an object and subject of love. Elizabeth s sonnets was a representation of her response to the society s tradition, which brought about a challenge to modern concepts of gender equality. They not only relate a courtship between a man and a woman, but also a transformation of a woman to a poet. This shows the proto feminist side of the speaker, but she does not solely focus on this matter throughout the sonnet, instead she focuses solely on the equality that men and women achieve through love. In Sonnets from the Portuguese, the speaker frees herself from being both the object and subject of love and poetic thought by addressing a man as an object and controlling her own voice and desires to obtain equality. During the Victorian Era, women were controlled by their father or other authoritative figure and what he desired. Addressing the Sonnets from the Portuguese, the speaker reflects on her past life, stating, The sweet, sad years, the melancholy years, / Those of my own life (7 8). This is a reference to the speaker s difficult early life, which was caused from ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Task Analysis Task Task Analysis Behavior/Skill to be Trained The skill I will be focusing on with the employees of Alam Realty is how to better communicate using non verbal communication. Non verbal communication such as active listening, watching for customer s body language cues and being aware of their own body positions, are important skills for sales professionals because the sales transaction depends on good communication. From the Needs Assessment, it has been determined there are several areas of non communication that need to be covered in training. I will start the session by standing in a slouched position, looking at the ground and speaking to the trainees and tell them a little history of myself, I will than straighten my posture and look directly at the trainees and ask them if they can repeat any of what I said. I will then repeat the story and see if they notice the difference in the non verbal techniques. The icebreaker will be another lesson in non verbal body language which should give the trainees a good understanding of what the training session will be focused on. I will then show a PowerPoint presentation and lecture on what non verbal communication is and how to look for body language cues in other people. There will be time for questions and answers at this point. There will be a 15 minute break at this point. After the break, I will ask the class to give me all the non verbal gestures they can think of and I will write these down on the white board. We will then put them into lists of good and bad gestures. This will give the trainees a good idea of what the good non verbal cues are and how to start focusing on them. I will present the class with sales scenarios and since we will have approximately 8 people in the class I will have each one take turns in being the real estate agent. I will record them during their role play and after lunch we will resume with the other half of trainers. At this point we will break for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Should We Love Spartacus Some people would argue that this new World referred to above looks suspiciously a lot like the old one, if you look closely enough. As California s post makes clear it is impossible to discuss Spartacus without bringing politics into it. Those who criticize it seem to be objecting not just to the choreography but to its subject matter and its putative political outlook. Any implications about the views or tastes of someone just because they happen to enjoy a work of art (even if accurate and therefore depressing) are highly problematic though. It would be interesting to know, but should it really matter to us whether Putin loves Spartacus? Do all people who like a work of art , a person, a nation, or anything else like it (or him/her) for the same reasons? Would Spartacus love Putin or Hitler or Spartacus? Should we loathe Wagner s music because the Nazis loved it? Should we burn all the copies of Leni Riefenstahl s movies because they glorify a hideous, dangerous political movement and philosophy? And while we are at it all copies of The Birth of a Nation because of its blatant racism? On and on. It provides an outside source of income for the country while forcing citizens to look for jobs outside of these underdeveloped nations. Investopedia mentions the importance of this to the economic development of countries by stating that in 2014 $583 billion in USD was transferred between countries, $436 Billion in USD was transferred was received by developing countries (Investopedia, 2005). Time Warner and Comcast are both prominent cable and communications providers. In detail the report research will compare and contrast the company financial records, code of ethics, and search out key competitors within their industry. • 10. The St. James The Apostle Catholic Church The St. James the Apostle Catholic Church in McDonough, Georgia was my second church visit. I visited the Catholic Church on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at the eleven o clock service. The church is located on 1000 Decatur Rd. McDonough, GA 30253. I assumed that the Presbyterian Church was very different from my community church but the St. James the Apostle Catholic Churchexperience was no comparison to the Covenant Presbyterian Church whatsoever. The first thing that I have noticed about the church is that there was unique artwork all over the building. There were many men displayed on the front of the church building with different figure types and wearing different clothes. The church artwork was very detailed and creative. It was a type of artwork that I have never seen before. I also noticed a huge cross in the center of the church building that had several figures of men surrounding the church. I had stared at the front of the building for about five minutes before I finally walked into the church. As people were walking inside the church, they were in formal attire. Both the men and women were well dressed for the sermon. Once I walked inside the church, I happened to notice a huge fountain in the center of the isle. The fountain contained holy water and several people were randomly dipping their finger in the water and then do a sign of the cross on the chests. I assumed it was a tradition that Catholics did before attending their seats. Rather than the church having ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Secretary of State Cyrus Vance CIA Director Stansfield Turner Introduction: Tragedy stuck America on November 4th of 1979, when 52 hostages were seized at the American Embassy in Iran during the midst of the Iranian Revolution. Different policy approaches prompted a vast range of potential actions, and ultimately Operation Eagle Claw was carried out between April 21st and 25th of 1980. The two primary executive divisions in dispute during decision process were the National Security Council (NCS) and its advisor Zbigniew Brzezinski and Secretary of the Department of State (DOS), Cyrus Vance. The decision for the use of military force, rather than continuing economic sanctions and diplomacy, was due to Carter s attempt at re election and a lack of resistance from Congress. Development and psychopathology, 15(01), 139 162. This article is a cross sectional study that examines the extent to which self regulatory skills occur in resilient versus non resilient youth. Along with the cross sectional method, the study also has a person focused approach allowing for a more holistic approach, though a variable focused approach is used when examining resilience to produce empirical results. It employs a variety of tests to measure the wide range of factors from prevalence of clinical disorders, such as anxiety, to the impact of chronic stressors, and competence in tasks required in daily life, within the developmental status of the individual. Wisconsin Fast Plants (WFPs), or Brassica rapa, are plants in the Cruciferous family, developed through selective breeding from a strain of Himalayan weeds (Williams). WFPs have a life cycle of around forty days. This short life cycle makes WFPs valuable for laboratory study. In addition, WFPs are simple to grow, as they only need water and a light source to survive (Williams). Their simple needs, allowing ease in controlling variables, make WFPs ideal for use in experiments. Germination is the stage of plant growth through which a seed becomes a seedling plant. First, the seed begins to absorb water and the radicle root emerges from the seed coat and into the water. Then, the primary roots grow, the cotyledons move above ground, the stem begins to grow, and leaves develop. The process is complete when the first leaves open and the cotyledons fall off (The Learning Garden 2001). NaCl has been shown to have a negative effect on plant growth (Lee and Van Iersal 2016) and germination (Houle et al. 2001). The severity of these effects depends on the individual species ability to grow in saline soil (Atkins et al. 2009). WFPs are part of a group of plants called glycophytes, meaning that they have a limited ability to tolerate NaCl (Atkins et al. 2009). A study specific to WFP germination found a decrease in germination in WFPs ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

How to Listen The first aspect of listening is to learn how to listen effectively. In today s society, communicating appropriately has everything to do with listening. Learning to be a good listener will help improve all relationships both professionally and personally. If people do not know how to listen well, they can easily be distracted and their mind will start to wander. Since listening plays an essential role in the communication process, developing listening skills are important because they will help interpret what the speaker is saying during feedback. In other words, the listener should be able to respond to what the speaker talked about for clarification purposes. Accordingly, to become a better listener, and depending on the situation, there are three types of listening strategies that would be beneficial to ensure effective communication with other people. Hybels and Weaver (2007) states that active listening, critical listening, and empathic listening are three different tactics that can be used in diverse situations (p. 92). For instance, critical listeners focal point is to listen with determination and an open mind. They need to recognize and expect to learn something new from the speaker and ask questions about their viewpoints. A second instance is that of empathic listeners. A plant is made up of organs and cells that help it reproduce sexually or asexually. Both reproduction methods having its advantages and disadvantages. 1.1 Plant Reproductive System Organs The reproduction system for plants consists of the anther, stigma and ovule. The image by Hans Lambers (2016) shows that pollen is created through the stamen (anther (which is held up by a filament). The pollen is then moved through wind, water or animal to the stigma of the plant part of the pistil where the pollen germinates (The Parts of a Flower, n.d.). Which is then moved down the pollen tube (inside the style) where it reaches the ovary and fertilizes the ovule and reproduce. 1.2 Plant Reproductive System Cells Plant reproduction consists of two cells. The pollen grains contains male gametophytes (the male sex cell) which is created through the process of meiosis (sex cell multiplying). On the other hand, the ovule, which is held within the ovary, contains female gametophytes (the female sex cell) which is also created through the process of meiosis. 2.0 Animal Reproductive System Animal reproduction, like plant reproduction, is the process of creating a being with similar genes to the parent animal to continue its race. As you may know, the Lodi Unified School District has food services that promotes and brings attention to our freshly prepared schoolmeals made from California grown products (School NutritionAnd Fitness). To promote even healthier eating, McNair actively participates in the USDA case study, inviting mobile carts to bring lunch closer to the students (School Nutrition And Fitness). Even with additional efforts put forth, students still find the lunches unappetizing (due to low grade food quality) and prefer to eat other alternatives. According to Alice Waters and Katrina Heron, authors of No lunch left behind an article published in The New York Times on February 19, 2009, the National School Lunch Program is a poor investment. The authors informed the public that of $9 billion, very little actually goes into the food. They demand fresh alternatives provided by local farmers and refine school equipment, to instead prepare fresh nutritious meals for the school. Although we may produce some meals at the school, there are still ways to improve the equipment to better serve the students. Education about sensible eating is also recommended, as it will teach students a nourishing lifestyle outside of school. With a well constructed plan that upgrades the quality of the food and food education, it will surely make our school healthier! Waters and Heron do have a point. Creating our own fresh lunches at the school have perks, but what about food options? A better idea would be to advance on vegetarian options that cater more vegetables, fruits, whole grains, soy foods, and more dairy products. Creating new and exciting options will attract more students to lunch and they may even start to find the lunch appetizing. On September 14, 2017, an ERWC class taught by Edward Cruz conducted an eleven question survey about eating habits and preferences at McNair. The Truth And Reconciliation Commission ( Trc ) Introduction Between the years of 1870 and 1996, more than 150,000 indigenous children were forcibly removed from their communities, and sent to Indian residential schools. Generation after generation of indigenous children were denied the right to speak their own language, explore spirituality and to learn about their rich cultural history. These schools were designed to assimilate indigenous children into the society of the European settlers. It was under that system that Aboriginal children were required to attend schools that would take the Indian out of the child, in hopes to solve the Indian problem . On June 2nd, 2008, nearly 20 years after the last residential school closed, The Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was formed in response to the legacy left behind by the Indian residential school system. Then, a neutral stimulus (the conditioned stimulus) is paired with the unconditioned stimulus and eventually the conditioned stimulus produces the initial response of the unconditioned stimulus without the unconditioned stimulus being present. The response, therefore, becomes the conditioned response. This study had a major influence on the psychological study of behaviorism. Behaviorism is based on the assumption that learning occurs through interactions with the environment (Cherry 1). Classical conditioning... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the second stage, a white rat was used as Watson s CS, the CS must be a neutral stimulus that initially has no effect on the UR. Little Albert showed no phobia towards the rat before conditioning occurred. By pairing the US with the CS, the infant learned to associate the loud noise of the hammer and metal bar with the white rat. After strengthening the association between the US and the CS by repetition, Little Albert eventually became fearful and upset when only presented with the once neutral stimulus, the white rat. This response was the CR which marked the completion of step three. Little Albert was now afraid of the white rat because it triggered his fear of the loud noise. Classical conditioning can be used to prove many forms of behavior between subjects when looking at the the right unconditioned/ conditioned stimuli and unconditioned/ conditioned responses. The theory of classical conditioning can be used to explain the development of distrust and trust issues in the relationships between people. Trust: belief that someone or something is reliable, good, honest, effective, etc. (Merriam Webster Dictionary). Distrust in a relationship occurs when the trust between two people is diminished. Distrust can have many negative affects on a person including: trust issues, anxiety, suspicion, fear of opening up, etc. Symptoms of distrust can depend on the severity of the distrust in the ... • 34. Patriarchal Theory Of Domestic Violence Social Learning Theory In many ways, the differences between men and women in elements of domestic violence reflect Social Learning Theory. Family violence during childhood years is a contributing factor to being an adult in a domestic violence situation as either the perpetrator or the victim (Swan, 2008). Social expectations of men can lead to less men reporting abuse or accessing treatment programs for victims. It is possible for malevictim to have shame or embarrassment due to stereotypical judgments on masculinity. The traditional expectation that women are compliant and submissive may play a role in domestic violence differences. Societies view on women being weak, vulnerable, and easily exploited contributes to the physical differences. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Interpersonal Violence is amongst one of the violations these behaviors can contribute to. Verbal and physical abuse is harmful behaviors that can be experienced. The conceptualized past, future, and self, gain power over behavior which contributes to inflexibility. Emotions and thoughts are commonly used as reasons for actions, giving person psychological inflexibility. This could play a part on why perpetrators use excuses such as, it s your fault, jealousy, and assumptions etc. as reasons for abuse. Victims also use the inflexibility as excuses for not seeking help such as it s my fault, I shouldn t have done or said something, or any excuse to protect their partner. People lose contact with what they want in life, beyond relief from psychological pain. Patterns of action emerge and gradually dominate in the person s repertoire that is detached from long term desired qualities of living. Behavioral repertoires narrow and become less sensitive to the current context as it affords valued actions. Persistence and change in the service of effectiveness is less likely. ... • 35. Relationship Between Parents And Parents Spend More Time... Simple causal relationship tells of the varied effects to society when parents spend more time with their children. Again, the report by Gerard Clark from New Zealand puts into words some of these effects. He pointed out how secure attachment formed in the early months, between parent and child, is a predictor of resilience in later life . He also pointed to how many adolescent issues like crime, drug abuse, and mental health have their roots in early childhood. In an article for The Washington Post, author Jane Waldfogel pointed us to a study in Norway linking the reduction in high school dropout rate to the country s generous parental leave statute. This lower dropout rate, they claimed, is because of parental involvement in the early months of the child s life, a very crucial stage when fathers connect with their children and form the foundations of future relationship; when mothers get to provide the nourishment that their baby needs through breastfeeding and the emotional connection this practice forms. Again, a properly designed parental leave can encourage mothers to nurse their babies, a practice that apparently not only helps make healthy babies now but also well rounded adults later (n. pag.). Perhaps another reason more involved parents discourage children from dropping out of school is the amount of support and guidance they are able to relay to their children. This perceived interest from parents encourages children to achieve more to make their parents proud. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There are many different activities that community engagementis involved with, which are community service, internships, voter s registration, service learning and etc. The primary focus of community engagement is the practice of moving communities towards change. The transformation from high school to college was very big for me. Only because I was a loner and I didn t really get involved with groups nor did I have a social life outside of playing basketball. When I came to college I made up in my mind that I was going to change. Once I was introduced to the four pathways that Methodist offered I decide to choose community engagement. Community engagement fits me best because it gives me a chance to interact with people and also voices my opinion. New macroeconomics concepts became popular, sometimes even taking place of classic ones. Using those concepts, Christopher Sabatini wrote the article The Rot the Heart of the Brazilian Economy , published by the Foreign Policy (FP) website on last February. In the article, Sabatini tries to explain what went wrong with the once very prosperous Brazilian economy, which in the past years has been diving into a recession that is so deep that many economists already call it a depression. Building demolition is never the answer, and restoration will always be the better option. This will ensure we can save and remember how societies of those who lived before us built their buildings. Although there are many ways building restoration will always be the better option, one crucial way is that restoration preserves the cultural identity of a structure, while demolition destroys it. At this moment, there might be a question raised: What exactly is the cultural identity of a structure or building? Well, that is actually quite simple. When we speak of historic structures, we typically are referring to those that are very, very aged structures that have a magnitude of uniqueness to them. Therefore, reflecting the culture of the time period which they were created in. But, if that historic structure is demolished, how would that reflected culture ever be remembered?
