Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study
A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered that the region of the brain
responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that
brain development didn t involve tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain
development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of destruction of the synapses (connections
between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses.
A growing fusiform gyrus
This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called fusiform gyrus, increases in size
from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and
involved either synaptic pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical
development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults. They were subjected to visual
recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests.
Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, the observations suggest that cortical tissue proliferation is taking placing. Subsequent examination of postmortem brains
validated Gomez team s observations. The findings are coherent with the previous observations that adults tend to recognize faces
better than children. Neuroscientist Kalanit Grill Spector suggests that as adults carve deeper and more complex social interactions
through life, additional neurological facilities for facial processing become a

Immigrant Assimilation
Many researchers have studied the immigrant assimilation in the recent years. America s ethnic groups have been expected to come
together as one and into the mainstream of american society for decades. Immigrant assimilation is a complex process in which
immigrants should not only fully integrate themselves to a new country but also lose aspects perhaps all their heritage too if necessary.
Social scientists rely on a primary benchmark to assess immigrant assimilation which is socioeconomic status. A melting pot can be
described as a metaphor which indicates a society where many different types of people blend in as one. Being an immigrant and
assimilating to the American society is hard but immigrants should get use to the American society and if it s possible immigrants
should accept to lose their heritage. The article posted may 1998 Immigrants shunning idea of assimilation William branigin argues
that like many others her neighborhood, where most of the residents are Mexican immigrants, the jacinto household mixes the old
country with the new immigrants shouldn t try to keep their heritage still while in america it can cause them to assimilate less to
america or it can cause them to have a harder time to assimilate into the american country. Jacinto became a u.s citizen last April, but
she does not feel like an American in fact she seems resistant to the idea of assimilating into U.S. Society. this is can be a problem for
Jacinto because she doesn t want to

How Can Eveline Be Considered A Work Of A Third Person
Every person, at some point, has been afraid of something. For some, it is the dark. Others spiders and snakes. Fear can cause people
to do things, or not do things, they never would have imagined. In James Joyce s short story Eveline, readers see how the fear of the
unknown may prevent someone from changing their routine. By using 3rd person limited point of view, James Joyce shows readers
what Eveline is thinking as she debates what path to take. Finally, through characterization, James Joyce creates not only a character,
but a real person whom readers can connect with. James Joyce s short story, Eveline, should be considered a work of high literary
merit because of its successful use of theme, point of view, and characterization. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joyce develops the theme of Eveline from the first paragraph. It shows the readers that fearing the unknown can prevent someone
from changing their routine and getting the freedom they desire. Point of view is a very important part of this short story. If James
Joyce had chosen to use a different point of view other than third person limited, the story would not have had the same impacts.
Because readers know Eveline s thoughts, they can see what motivates her and what the fears were that eventually got in the way of
her choosing freedom. Finally, through excellent characterization, Joyce takes readers through the thoughts of Eveline to find out who
she was. James Joyce s Eveline is an excellent work of literary fiction that should be read for generations to

The Ethical Dilemma Of Hepatitis Sachs Disease
Often times in a complex situation individuals are involved in conflicting decisions to progress to a solution. The ethical dilemma may
conflict with acceptable morals or behaviors but to resolve the paradox a decision has to be made. D.B. s parents are faced with an
ethical dilemma when they discover their son has an incurable disease. They could allow the illness to take its course or seek a form of
treatment to slow its progression.
Ethical Dilemma
D.B. was born May 30, 1999, with a condition most commonly known throughout the Eastern European Jewish community. Tay

ANA Code of Ethics
Provision two, four, and six are a few ethical principles relevant and applicable to the situation. The healthcare team respected the
clients wishes, committed to the client s health, took accountability for care and practice, and contributed to the healthcare
environment. Provision Two: Primary commitment is to the patient, whether an individual, family, group, community, or population.
Provision Four: Authority, accountability, and responsibility for nursing practice; makes decisions; and takes action consistent with the
obligation to promote health and to provide optimal care. Provision Six: Through individual and collective effort, establishes,
maintains, and improves the ethical environment of the work setting and condition of the employment that are conductive to safe,
quality healthcare. (Hegge, 2015).
Relation of the ANA Code to the Dilemma
American Nurse Association Code of Ethics principles relates to the care provided for the client while under supervision of the
healthcare team during their dilemma. The healthcare team establishes principles to abide by in order to provide optimal, safe,
efficient care for their clients. The team successfully met the goals of the fourth provision by making decisions and taking action
consistent with the obligation to promote health

The Extract By Junot Diaz Essay
The extract How to Date a Brown Girl by Junot Diaz basically explains a detailed instruction on how to deal with females of different
races. It is filled with gender stereotypes throughout the extract where most of these stereotypes are not justified. The protagonist
would like others to believe that he is a girls man or girls dem sugar according to Beenie Man. Is he such a girls man if he is worried
that a girl would not turn up to a date? Is he a true girls man if he sees all the possible things that could go wrong during the date?
One would argue that his views and stereotypes are all wrong and race does not determine promiscuity. It is not fair to say that all
white girls are open to explore their sexuality. It is not fair to say that you are guaranteed to get a hand job from any white girl once
you get her alone. One can argue that all his views about women are due to what he heard and not based on his experience of being a
male.
Noting that most main stream pornographic movies are those of white women, maybe the notion that white women are opened to their
sexuality is not too far off. Maybe there is some truth behind this stereotype, and maybe there is not any truth to it at all.
Within this extract, there are strong elements that suggest various degrees of respectability and reputation, along with a very small
aspect of sexual objectification of women. Today we see the objectification of women in media ever so often that it becomes normal

Positive And Negative Impacts Of Globalization Essay
In this article, I review the literature on the positive and negative outcomes of economic globalization, and the impact on developed
and developing nations. The findings indicate a strong trend in the belief that developed countries dominate in the world of
international trade, as there resources ensure a competitive advantage over poorer undeveloped nations. In addition, it can be
concluded that the great benefits of free trade, defined broadly as free movement of goods, services, and capital across national
boundaries (what I will call economic interdependence or globalization ) is made possible by lower costs of transportation and
telecommunications and the gradual liberalization of markets as countries negotiate reductions in tariffs, quotas, subsidies, and other
barriers to trade (Paul, 2015, pg 3), are mostly but not solely enjoyed by developed nations. However, there is a basic expectation in
economic theory, that international trade will allow for increased competition worldwide, thus will lead to greater productivity, higher
wages and reduction in extreme poverty (Haase, 2012). Which arguably will benefit all nations, with developing nations being no
exception. In stating this, there are many drawbacks of economic liberalisation that cannot be ignored: poverty, inequality,
manipulation and closing of local industry. The studies highlight the positive and negative impacts globalisation and free trade have on
both developed and developing nations.

The Process Of Strategic Management
Nonprofits are growing to be very important in the United States, this is why the process of strategic management is so essential to
know and follow. This will lead to great success, to any program or project. Most of the top management needs to think strategically to
begin with, and then implement their thought into the management process. According to Tim Mazzarol, who wrote an article called
Entreprenuership as the way of the future pp. 2 3, mentions that this intention is called strategic thinking. Strategic thinking is mostly
known to resolve and diffuse coexisting matters. He also mentions that this type of thinking is where an organization can access, view
and create a future, not only for themselves, but their employees as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Goal setting is very important, this tells what your company wants to achieve, and whether your company s vision is clear.
Organizations are always more successful when they have a clearly determined the organizational goals, values, mission, vision , and
mandates (Cullom, 2011, pp. 15 17). Now while thinking about your goals, short term and long term objectives should be kept in
mind. Then the organization needs to see how they are going to reach these objectives. Once you have this down then, you need to
find out how its going to be informed and implemented on the staff. The company needs to process the goals detailed and clear
enough. They need to be obtainable and match the values of your vision. Like this you give each of your staff their specific tasks and
not only they succeed, but also they organization (Kress, 2005, pp.29). Finally, you can come up with your mission statement and
write it in the best form where you can clearly communicate it with your shareholders and your employees. One of the articles
mentioned that Grand Strategy can indicate to be a broad move for a goal that scouts an organization s key action. In one of the
articles it says, Grand strategies indicate the time period over which long range objectives are to be achieved. Thus, a grand strategy
can be defined as a comprehensive general approach that guides a firm s major action (Pearce, J. A., Robinson, R. B. Jr., 2004, p. 200).
This can only mean that an organization can use

What Was The Mashiach s Impact On Judaism
Judaism, one of history s oldest monotheistic beliefs, is a semitic religion based upon the covenant made by the Jewish God, Yahweh,
to Abraham. Abraham s descendant was Jacob called Israel. From Abraham came the beginning of the Jewish religion and from Israel
came the nation through which the covenant was to continue. However the people did not always stay faithful to God and it is due to a
number of significant people that the religion was able to continue to today. Isaiah s impact on Judaism can still be seen in modern
Judaistic society and religion.
Isaiah was born at a time of historical importance during an era of political turmoil. Around the year 740 BCE Isaiah was born. During
his life he experienced the destruction of Israel circa 722 BCE, when Assyrians defeated the Northern Kingdom of Israel and absorbed

restoration and redemption of Jerusalem under the Messianic King. These prophesies, reinforced elsewhere in the Tanakh (sacred

the commandments, bring about the political and spiritual redemption of the Jewish people through the restoration of Jerusalem and
the exiled and establish a world authority in Israel for Jews and gentiles. The return of the exiled has been a long awaited prophecy for

The attack had devastating outcome that traversed across many sectors of the economy. In fact it took a nearly a month to figure out
the next course of action (Hiles, 2007). Meanwhile, rescue mission intensified as a result of disaster declarations, businesses were
closed down, the building was considerably destroyed and many companies rerouted their telecommunication and information

impact was in the business community. This is because this twin tower hosted nearly 350 businesses and handled over 80,000 on a
daily basis who came to do business with them. The basement of the building had a car parking capacity of 2,000 spaces and this gives
tip of how busy this complex was at the time of the explosion (Hiles, 2007). The work force that reported for duty daily in this

Since its inception more than 20 years ago, IBM has been a leader in its field. Despite this success, over the course of the last several
years, IBM has found that in order to keep itself competitive, corporate restructuring has been necessary. As such, practices such as
downsizing and outsourcing have become quite popular for the company. In 2002 IBM signed a deal with Fidelity s Employer
Services Company to outsource its HRM department. Of the IBM s 1,200 human resource employees, Fidelity retained 450.
The growth of HR outsourcing will continue to gain momentum as organizations reap the benefits, including significant cost savings,
new capabilities and services for employees, and enabling HR to focus on more strategic work that is integral to the business, Bryan
Doyle, president of Hewitt s HR outsourcing group, said in a press release (Gurchiek). Why are companies looking to outsourcing
more of their jobs? One of the most appealing aspects is the reduction in labor. This reduction fits in with the new idea of streamlining.
More can be done with less therefore more can be earned. The market place today is extremely competitive, and every advantage
counts. Millions of dollars are saved by turning to outside contractors. Not only do companies save on wages, they save from not
having to provide benefit packages. Revenue saved can be put to better product development, and new research. A major reason

A. Attention Getter: Have you ever wanted to learn how to make a balloon animal?

You will first pinch the balloon, then wrap the end around your first two fingers. Next, thread the slack behind the beginning of the
balloon and through your fingers. Now pull your fingers out of the loop while holding on the lip of the balloon.
Transition: You will notice that I did not blow the balloon all the way up. I left about four finger widths at the end.
B. Main Point Two: The measurement of inflated to the uninflated balloon is important throughout the balloon animal process.
1. Measuring with your fingers helps to make your balloon animal come out in the correct proportions.
2. You will leave about four finger widths uninflated because as you twist, it will push air into the end of the balloon and fill it up.
3. I have practiced the balloon dog quite a bit, and have learned if you don t have proper measurements then your dog can come out

The Fight Against Drug Trafficking Essay
There continues to be a struggle in the fight against drug trafficking from Mexico into the United States. Although measures have been
put into place at the border, the profits made from the illicit drug trade in addition to the other illegal activities has made it difficult
determining who has not been corrupted. Mexican presidents both past and present have taken to the military to try and eradicate the
problem, but have been met with force. As a result of the cartel violence, the rising death toll has hit a staggering number. While the
number itself is substantial, the manner used by these organizations to commit these acts of violence range from kidnappings, to
decapitations and mass killings. Drug cartels have not stopped short of any means necessary to meet their goals and have even joined
forces with once rival gangs to do so. This has led to further instability within the country. Programs in place are continuing to fund
the joint efforts between the United States and Mexico in hopes of deterring the influence and destructive power of Mexican drug
cartels. Mexico s Drug Cartels With its weak judicial and police foundations as well as having close proximity to the world s largest
consumer economy, has made Mexico the hub of one of the world s most sophisticated drug networks. (Lee, 2014) There are
numerous drug trafficking organizations (DTOs) within Mexico that have continued to dominate the drug flow into the United States.

Post New Deal, the Tennessee Park system continued to thrive as more parks were transferred to the State from federal agencies.
Tennessee was slowly becoming a recreational destination to those seeking water related activities. Tennessee had another park
resurgence from 1971 to 1980 when it added sixteen State Parks and has continued to grow over the last two decades (TDEC 2017).
The New Deal ideology of preserving Tennessee s natural landscape while providing public recreation is still a main goal of the park
system.
New Deal Era State Park Examples
Below are descriptions of three New Deal Era state parks that represent a variety of state parks TVA and the CCC were involved with.
While some of them were designated as a state park during the great depression, others were deeded or leased to the state in the late
1940s and 1950s. Each of the parks provide an insight to the importance TVA and/or CCC had on State Park development. See
Attachment A for more details on all 25 New Deal influenced parks.
Norris Dam State Park
TVA s first hydroelectric dam project was completed by 1936 in Norris, Tennessee. Once the dam was completed, the facilities and
associated lands were available for recreational development. This park was one of the five recreation demonstration parks created by
TVA in cooperation with the NPS and CCC. TVA provided the land, some materials,

The Effect of Over Hunting on Blue Whales
The Effect of Over Hunting on Blue Whales
The blue whale is a magnificent creature being the biggest in the world. The blue whale can eat up to 4 tons of krill in one day, and
live up to 90 years old. Blue whales can make sounds and tones that travel up to 1000 miles away. Blue whales are so big and take up
so many resources that have to live in small groups of one or two called pods. The Blue whales habitat ranges between Madagascar
and Antarctica. In 1904 there used to be close to 400,000 blue whales living on earth, but now due to over hunting people have put the
human race in danger along with the blue whale species.
The history of whaling originates all the way back 3000B.C. Whaling is killing whales for meat and oil. Huge fleets of whalers did not
come around until the 1700 s. By the 1930 s 50,000 whales were being killed annually. From 1904 to 1967 360,000 blue whales were
killed, that adds up to about 70% of their population. Whales produce up to 3 off spring at most in one year so the bounce back from a
huge killing would take many years. The International Whaling Commission was established in 1946, to help fight commercial
whaling.
The IWC came around to help fight whaling, but they had little effect. In 1970 the Convention of International Trade of Endangered
species put a ban on all whaling. Even though there is a ban on whaling Norway, Iceland, Japan and the USSR still have whaling fleets
but under the name of scientific research . The only people who are

Becoming A Registered Nurse Take Time And Dedication
Taking the steps in becoming registered nurse take time and dedication. This profession is not for everyone; however once you get
though the many barriers, you will feel a great sense of accomplishments. To be a great nurse you need to be able to communicate to
your patients. Be empathic for individuals who are suffering; this trait can be hard to achieve, because you are not always able to
understand what a person is going through. In other cases nurses find themselves becoming exhausted because of the constant
emotional stress. Sometimes you have to take time away, to be able to get back to your equilibrium. Lastly, the most important trait

Schrand explained that it was cheaper, and an easier route, especially since she was working a full time job at the time. The next step
was to transfer to a university that had a bachelor program. Once she graduated with her bachelor, she made the decision to pursue
graduate level education. She now has a Master in Family Nurse Practitioner. Overall she has been practicing nursing for 26 years; as
a nurse practitioner she has spent 16 years. One value that Mrs. Shrand strongly stress about is to keep her practice patient centered.
She believes that you have to have a relationship with your patient. It does not matter that age, gender, ethnicity. When a patient comes

The skill to be flexible is also important as well. The unit the nurse works in is the department of primary care. Her role is to work

Security Sector Reform
SECURITY SECTOR REFORM Before I proceed, please allow me to give a sincere opinion on Lt Gen Gaudencio S. Pangilinan AFP
(Ret) regarding his lecture on Security Sector Reform. These are what I think that makes Gen Pangilinan a good lecturer/speaker. He
is a subject matter expert, knows the subject well, and can expand beyond basic concepts readily found in books. He communicates
well and is very dedicated in what he is doing.
Nothing new about Security Sector Reform (SSR) as we all know that SSR is a concept that was first developed in the 1990s in
Eastern Europe. Since it has no fixed definition and no single model of a security sector exists, SSR generally refers to a process to
reform or rebuild a state s security sector. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In those settings, making people feel safe and secure and (re) building confidence between the State and its people is vital for
sustainable peace and development. In different contexts, from Gen Pangilinan s lecture, I was informed that SSR can even prevent
conflicts or crises from emerging or resurging and it is also a process that many States undertake on a regular basis to respond to
emerging threats or potential internal or external pressures.
To conclude, the Philippines has yet to show its true colors but the time will come for the Philippines to rise as a key player regionally
and internationally, provided these challenges have been addressed and resolved. For example, the lack of transparency in the security
sector. Until today, the Philippines does not have a published national security white paper to inform the public of the government
security policy and predicaments.
Thus, with regards to the above matter, I have a few recommendations to overcome these challenges, because the Philippines is facing
internal armed challenges affecting the good governance of the security sector, the government has to address the structural causes of
internal armed conflicts, insurgency, terrorism and political unrests. Therefore, comprehensive structural reforms are imperative for
SSR. Structural reforms

Public Attitudes Toward African Americans With Mental...
This paper examines the inequalities that African Americans with mental disabilities face in their daily lives. It argues that this
constituency receives inadequate medical access and services, different treatment of their disability, and is highly stigmatized as
compared to Whites. In order to support my argument I examine public attitudes towards blacks with mental illnesses, their depiction
in the media, and contemporary issues related to the topic. I draw on specific course concepts such as ableism and use an
intersectional approach to show that African Americans are not given the proper attention they deserve. In the first section of this
paper, I examine public attitudes toward African Americans who have mental disabilities and how this affects their treatment options.
In the second section, I explore the limited portrayal of blacks with mental disabilities in television and film. In the third and final
section, I discuss recent issues regarding the lack of Black disability studies. By researching this topic, I hope to bring more awareness
and acceptance of African Americans with mental disabilities. I also want to add more scholarship to the field, which is much needed.
I. Views Towards Blacks with Mental Disorders
Although several years have passed since the civil rights movement, there continues to be discrimination against people of color. This
discrimination is even more prominent towards people of color who have mental or physical disabilities. More

There has been much care and time put into making this project as safe for the environment as possible, and surprisingly the impacts
on the environment are quite minimal. The only major environmental impact of the NorthConnex Tunnel is where there has been the
clearance of land for the infrastructure needed, and this is likely to have an impact on the flora and fauna in those areas as their
habitats are removed. The maps on the following page shows the endangered...vegetation and animal species..... affected by the
developments.
Apart from during the construction of the tunnel, the local air quality is expected to improve, as the ventilation stacks are to have an
insignificant effect on the air quality as they are being built high enough so that any pollutants are pumped high into the atmosphere.
Also, the air quality modelling that has been carried out (figure 4.1) has shown that the human made particulate matter (PM 2.5) is to
have a 38% reduction with the NorthConnex Tunnel, in 24 hour average concentrations, by 2029 as shown in the graph below. When
the NorthConnex tunnel is in use, there will be a reduction in the exhaust emissions and the fuel usage in the area, as there will be
higher average travel speeds than on Pennant Hills Road, a more flat and level road road, and there will be no need to stop and start at

Andrew Jackson Speech
Andrew Jackson s Speech to Congress: Indian Removal The chosen document was written by former president Andrew Jackson on
December 6, 1830. Andrew Jackson was a less educated political figure, he was fairly illiterate but he did make major changes to the
united states. The purpose of this speech was to justify, to the American people and to congress; the removal policy already established
by the Indian Removal Act of May 28, 1830. During this speech, Andrew Jackson gives his reasoning for why the Indians should be
relocated. He states that the Removal Act will, separate the Indians from immediate contact with settlements of whites; free them from
the power of the States; enable them to pursue happiness in their own way and under their own rude institutions.. (Jackson) This is an
absurd statement, because even though relocating the Indian tribes and communities did help expand the land of the United States, this
act left many of Indians without any ties to the land they were forced to move to. Just because the Indians wanted to keep their land
and would do anything to defend it, didn t mean that they were a threat to the white civilizations. Though, of course, these arguments
are the exact reason why Jackson gave this speech. Throughout this document, Jackson keeps giving explanations as to why the
Removal act improves both the Indian and white societies, in his point of view anyway. Jackson does assume that most people
understand the meaning of words like abode and discontented. Of course, this speech was given over almost 188 years ago, when the
intended audience was made up of mainly highly educated men of political standpoints. So, naturally, this document is easy to believe
if the reader can adopt the mental state of this time period: where mostly men occupied the educated population; most rights that our
societies abuse and take for granted today did not exist; and even be able to ignore the immoral way that Americans during this time
period thought. These early Americans thought that they could just roll onto a new land, and say claim to have any right to conquer it,
without caring too much for the societies that they destroyed along the way. This speech was supposed to be defending the

The Immense Character Development in Antigone by Sophocles...
Brad Moore, a famous athlete once said, Pride would be a lot easier to swallow if it didn t taste so bad. In Sophocles well known
Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character undergoes immense character development. Antigone transforms from being stubborn
and underestimated to courageous and open minded. In reality, it is Antigone s insular persistence that leads to her ultimate decline in
the play as well as others around her. After the death of her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, Creon becomes the new ruler of
Thebes. With this, he grants Eteocles an honorable funeral service for his brave fighting. Claiming that Polynices was a traitor, he
shows complete refusal to grant Polynices a respectable and worthy service. Clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an extremely poor sense of pride. She will
stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes over her thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is
exaggerated to a point where her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to anything wrong she has
done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid though perverse valor which creates the drama (Rose 220). Her
excessive pride to save her brother results in chaos for herself as well as those around her.
Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper burial. She shows immense loyalty
and will power as she fights for her family name. Her endurance is extraordinary as she declares Naturally! Since Zeus never
promulgated such a law, nor will you find that Justice, Mistress of the world below, publishes such laws on humankind. I never
thought your mortal edicts had such force they nullified the laws of heaven... (Sophocles 38). Antigone responds to Creon s speech
and disagrees with his proclamation denying Polynices a funeral. Polynices, hated by the entire country, is being deprived of an
appropriate burial service and Antigone is determined to honor her brother correctly (Rose 219). The courage she displays is crucial
factor in her character development. The devotion towards helping her brother is

Comparing Bradstreet s Sinners In To My Dear And Loving...
Jonathan Edwards hellfire and brimstone in his Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God has several comparisons and contrasts with
Anne Bradstreet s poems, Upon the Burning of Our House and To My Dear and Loving Husband. One of the comparisons would be
with the concept of Eternal Life. Both writers were Puritans, and accepted the concept of life after death. Bradstreet says in To my
Dear and Loving Husband that she hopes the heavens reward thee manifold, I pray...Then when we live no more, we may live ever.
Saying we may live ever gives the reader the thought of life after death, and she is saying that she wants to live eternally with her
husband. Edwards had the same idea, but in a darker sense. He insisted upon the fact that

Patients are struggling with their discharge plans, unable to manage their care as evidenced by complications reported after discharge

team are responsible for effectively preparing patients for the transition to self care in the home setting. Opportunities for practice

Andrew Marvell s `` Conflictual World View `` Essay
By 1642, England had descended into chaos as civil war ravaged the country. King Charles I had dissolved Parliament in 1629 thus
making the King vastly unpopular throughout his dominion. After reestablishing the Parliament in 1640, Oliver Cromwell was elected
amidst ensuing popularity as a religious, talented military man, who supported an agenda for radical reforms (Britannica). The wars
ended with the following outcomes: Charles I beheaded, Cromwell soon in command as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth, the
eventual return to power of the Royalists and the coronation of King Charles II in 1660. However, the tumultuous political atmosphere
of the recent decades left its mark on every citizen of the kingdoms. One of these citizens, Andrew Marvell s, conflictual world view
seems unmistakably the product of the unsettled civil war decades (1366 early 17th century intro). Andrew Marvell was a noted
scholar, a tutor to General Fairfax s daughter (a foe of Cromwell during the English Civil wars) and eventually became a member of
Parliament. He is known for his ambiguous writings and elusive rhetoric; perhaps a defensive gesture to hide his true opinions from
the public (Norton Anthology of English Literature, 1366). The chaotic atmosphere caused much fear in the citizens as any criticism of
the government would be an affront and the punishment was often arrest and execution. Marvell, having a secure position as tutor to
Cromwell s General s daughter and then to Cromwell s own

The Concept Of Sexuality In Maya Angelou s Phenomenal Woman
Phenomenal Woman is a poem written by an American poet, activist and a storyteller, Maya Angelou. Phenomenal Woman boasts the
powerful and captivating beauty and sexuality of the speaker that attracts men to her. This sexuality includes her independence as well
as confidence through all types of cultural norms. Including moral, familial, religious and economic. The concept of sexuality tends to
be influenced by these aspects.
Interestingly, Maya Angelou s biography contradicts with her poem. As during her youth, she had been sexually assaulted by her
mother s lover. Ironically in her poem, it talks about a powerful woman who is filled with confidence and ambitions in life. Which also
does give an impression of a tremendously strong woman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These visual imageries give an impression of the speaker s appearance. The imagery portrays confident and proud women when she
describes the women. She also exploits visual imagery so that people can picture her image as somebody who can embrace herself
well in spite of her race and color.
The poem further appears to have some sort of musical lyrics, which is linked to Angelou s background as a dancer. This musical tone
is evident the refrain and rhyme of the poem. The musical lyric is further seen in the use of words with the same number of syllables at
the start of every line of a stanza for instance The sun of my smile/The flash of my teeth and others all have five syllables. The poet
also assumes an ironic tone as illustrated by her judgment of the world s perception of a perfect woman and her own understanding of
an ideal woman.
The poem s overall structure is also similar to natural curves of a woman, which further stresses its theme. The use of alliteration
devices is also evident in the line, Pretty women wonder , which explains the contrast between world s view of a pretty woman and
her own view (Angelou 1). Furthermore, the last line in all stanzas is used to express the fact that the speaker is truly a phenomenal
woman. There s no doubt about that

Every growing practice needs a steady stream of leads and new patients that not only generate revenue, but help advance your practice
through word of mouth. It is essential to clearly define your practice on all advertising materials and during consultations to help build
your brand and lend credibility to your practice.
Many chiropractors make the mistake of trying to be everything to everyone. Doing so can lead to confusion between you and your
clients and less effective treatment programs. You will find that focusing your practice on a few specific treatments will lead to higher

By trying to appeal to everyone all at once, you lose the ability to grab someone s attention and conquer their anxiety and concerns
about chiropractic. Maximize the potential of each advertisement by eliminating the unnecessary information and appealing as
strongly as possible to your target audience.
Over time, you can create a newspaper insert campaign for each type of symptom and slowly build your client list the right way. In
doing so your response rates will increase and you will soon know exactly which treatments are the most lucrative in your area. This is
key for future success and can quickly put you in at an advantage over your competitors.
Do some research on chiropractic advertising to gather ideas and topics for your own marketing materials. You can even use a
competitor s flyers or promotions to help you learn about your area. What are they marketing? What is their target audience?
A great way to start your chiropractic advertising is to design, print, and deliver full color flyers through the newspaper. For as little as
$0.10 per home you can create and distribute full color glossy flyers. There are even companies that offer free chiropractic flyer

  • 2. Face Uniform Gyrus Face Recognition Study A group of scientists at the Stanford University School of Medicine in the United States discovered that the region of the brain responsible for face recognition grows in children and adults. The discovery surprised scientists because it was widely believed that brain development didn t involve tissue growth in adulthood, but rather neuroplasticity. Until now, it was thought that brain development occurred exclusively through a process called synaptic pruning a mechanism of destruction of the synapses (connections between the neurons) that are rarely used, opening the way for the development of stronger and more effective synapses. A growing fusiform gyrus This is the first time that research has found evidence that tissue in this region of the brain, called fusiform gyrus, increases in size from childhood to adulthood. Previous research suggested that most changes in brain tissue occurred during childhood (0 2 years) and involved either synaptic pruning or tissue shrinkage. To make the discovery, which will force science to rethink the anatomical development of the brain over the years, researchers recruited 22 children (aged 5 12) and 25 adults. They were subjected to visual recognition tests of faces and places and functional magnetic resonance and quantitative magnetic resonance imaging tests. Functional magnetic resonance imaging was used ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, the observations suggest that cortical tissue proliferation is taking placing. Subsequent examination of postmortem brains validated Gomez team s observations. The findings are coherent with the previous observations that adults tend to recognize faces better than children. • 3. Immigrant Assimilation Many researchers have studied the immigrant assimilation in the recent years. America s ethnic groups have been expected to come together as one and into the mainstream of american society for decades. Immigrant assimilation is a complex process in which immigrants should not only fully integrate themselves to a new country but also lose aspects perhaps all their heritage too if necessary. Social scientists rely on a primary benchmark to assess immigrant assimilation which is socioeconomic status. A melting pot can be described as a metaphor which indicates a society where many different types of people blend in as one. Being an immigrant and assimilating to the American society is hard but immigrants should get use to the American society and if it s possible immigrants should accept to lose their heritage. The article posted may 1998 Immigrants shunning idea of assimilation William branigin argues that like many others her neighborhood, where most of the residents are Mexican immigrants, the jacinto household mixes the old country with the new immigrants shouldn t try to keep their heritage still while in america it can cause them to assimilate less to america or it can cause them to have a harder time to assimilate into the american country. Jacinto became a u.s citizen last April, but she does not feel like an American in fact she seems resistant to the idea of assimilating into U.S. Society. this is can be a problem for Jacinto because she doesn t want to ... • 4. How Can Eveline Be Considered A Work Of A Third Person Every person, at some point, has been afraid of something. For some, it is the dark. Others spiders and snakes. Fear can cause people to do things, or not do things, they never would have imagined. In James Joyce s short story Eveline, readers see how the fear of the unknown may prevent someone from changing their routine. By using 3rd person limited point of view, James Joyce shows readers what Eveline is thinking as she debates what path to take. Finally, through characterization, James Joyce creates not only a character, but a real person whom readers can connect with. James Joyce s short story, Eveline, should be considered a work of high literary merit because of its successful use of theme, point of view, and characterization. In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Joyce develops the theme of Eveline from the first paragraph. It shows the readers that fearing the unknown can prevent someone from changing their routine and getting the freedom they desire. Point of view is a very important part of this short story. If James Joyce had chosen to use a different point of view other than third person limited, the story would not have had the same impacts. Because readers know Eveline s thoughts, they can see what motivates her and what the fears were that eventually got in the way of her choosing freedom. Finally, through excellent characterization, Joyce takes readers through the thoughts of Eveline to find out who she was. • 5. • 7. The Extract By Junot Diaz Essay The extract How to Date a Brown Girl by Junot Diaz basically explains a detailed instruction on how to deal with females of different races. It is filled with gender stereotypes throughout the extract where most of these stereotypes are not justified. The protagonist would like others to believe that he is a girls man or girls dem sugar according to Beenie Man. Is he such a girls man if he is worried that a girl would not turn up to a date? Is he a true girls man if he sees all the possible things that could go wrong during the date? One would argue that his views and stereotypes are all wrong and race does not determine promiscuity. It is not fair to say that all white girls are open to explore their sexuality. It is not fair to say that you are guaranteed to get a hand job from any white girl once you get her alone. One can argue that all his views about women are due to what he heard and not based on his experience of being a male. Noting that most main stream pornographic movies are those of white women, maybe the notion that white women are opened to their sexuality is not too far off. Maybe there is some truth behind this stereotype, and maybe there is not any truth to it at all. Within this extract, there are strong elements that suggest various degrees of respectability and reputation, along with a very small aspect of sexual objectification of women. Today we see the objectification of women in media ever so often that it becomes normal and almost ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. Positive And Negative Impacts Of Globalization Essay In this article, I review the literature on the positive and negative outcomes of economic globalization, and the impact on developed and developing nations. The findings indicate a strong trend in the belief that developed countries dominate in the world of international trade, as there resources ensure a competitive advantage over poorer undeveloped nations. In addition, it can be concluded that the great benefits of free trade, defined broadly as free movement of goods, services, and capital across national boundaries (what I will call economic interdependence or globalization ) is made possible by lower costs of transportation and telecommunications and the gradual liberalization of markets as countries negotiate reductions in tariffs, quotas, subsidies, and other barriers to trade (Paul, 2015, pg 3), are mostly but not solely enjoyed by developed nations. However, there is a basic expectation in economic theory, that international trade will allow for increased competition worldwide, thus will lead to greater productivity, higher wages and reduction in extreme poverty (Haase, 2012). Which arguably will benefit all nations, with developing nations being no exception. In stating this, there are many drawbacks of economic liberalisation that cannot be ignored: poverty, inequality, manipulation and closing of local industry. The studies highlight the positive and negative impacts globalisation and free trade have on both developed and developing nations. International ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. The Process Of Strategic Management Nonprofits are growing to be very important in the United States, this is why the process of strategic management is so essential to know and follow. This will lead to great success, to any program or project. Most of the top management needs to think strategically to begin with, and then implement their thought into the management process. According to Tim Mazzarol, who wrote an article called Entreprenuership as the way of the future pp. 2 3, mentions that this intention is called strategic thinking. Strategic thinking is mostly known to resolve and diffuse coexisting matters. He also mentions that this type of thinking is where an organization can access, view and create a future, not only for themselves, but their employees as well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Goal setting is very important, this tells what your company wants to achieve, and whether your company s vision is clear. Organizations are always more successful when they have a clearly determined the organizational goals, values, mission, vision , and mandates (Cullom, 2011, pp. 15 17). Now while thinking about your goals, short term and long term objectives should be kept in mind. Then the organization needs to see how they are going to reach these objectives. Once you have this down then, you need to find out how its going to be informed and implemented on the staff. The company needs to process the goals detailed and clear enough. They need to be obtainable and match the values of your vision. Like this you give each of your staff their specific tasks and not only they succeed, but also they organization (Kress, 2005, pp.29). Finally, you can come up with your mission statement and write it in the best form where you can clearly communicate it with your shareholders and your employees. One of the articles mentioned that Grand Strategy can indicate to be a broad move for a goal that scouts an organization s key action. In one of the articles it says, Grand strategies indicate the time period over which long range objectives are to be achieved. Thus, a grand strategy can be defined as a comprehensive general approach that guides a firm s major action (Pearce, J. A., Robinson, R. B. Jr., 2004, p. 200). Abraham s descendant was Jacob called Israel. From Abraham came the beginning of the Jewish religion and from Israel came the nation through which the covenant was to continue. However the people did not always stay faithful to God and it is due to a number of significant people that the religion was able to continue to today. Isaiah s impact on Judaism can still be seen in modern Judaistic society and religion. Isaiah was born at a time of historical importance during an era of political turmoil. Bombing incidences are often a result of terror attacks and the lessons or the action plans that ensue from any successful terror attack are not something intelligent minds can underscore (Knowles, 2003). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since its inception more than 20 years ago, IBM has been a leader in its field. Despite this success, over the course of the last several years, IBM has found that in order to keep itself competitive, corporate restructuring has been necessary. As such, practices such as downsizing and outsourcing have become quite popular for the company. In 2002 IBM signed a deal with Fidelity s Employer Services Company to outsource its HRM department. Of the IBM s 1,200 human resource employees, Fidelity retained 450. The growth of HR outsourcing will continue to gain momentum as organizations reap the benefits, including significant cost savings, new capabilities and services for employees, and enabling HR to focus on more strategic work that is integral to the business, Bryan Doyle, president of Hewitt s HR outsourcing group, said in a press release (Gurchiek). Why are companies looking to outsourcing more of their jobs? One of the most appealing aspects is the reduction in labor. This reduction fits in with the new idea of streamlining. More can be done with less therefore more can be earned. The market place today is extremely competitive, and every advantage counts. Millions of dollars are saved by turning to outside contractors. Not only do companies save on wages, they save from not having to provide benefit packages. Revenue saved can be put to better product development, and new research. A major reason ... • 20. The Fight Against Drug Trafficking Essay There continues to be a struggle in the fight against drug trafficking from Mexico into the United States. Although measures have been put into place at the border, the profits made from the illicit drug trade in addition to the other illegal activities has made it difficult determining who has not been corrupted. Mexican presidents both past and present have taken to the military to try and eradicate the problem, but have been met with force. As a result of the cartel violence, the rising death toll has hit a staggering number. While the number itself is substantial, the manner used by these organizations to commit these acts of violence range from kidnappings, to decapitations and mass killings. Drug cartels have not stopped short of any means necessary to meet their goals and have even joined forces with once rival gangs to do so. This has led to further instability within the country. Programs in place are continuing to fund the joint efforts between the United States and Mexico in hopes of deterring the influence and destructive power of Mexican drug cartels. Mexico s Drug Cartels With its weak judicial and police foundations as well as having close proximity to the world s largest consumer economy, has made Mexico the hub of one of the world s most sophisticated drug networks. The blue whale can eat up to 4 tons of krill in one day, and live up to 90 years old. Blue whales can make sounds and tones that travel up to 1000 miles away. Blue whales are so big and take up so many resources that have to live in small groups of one or two called pods. The Blue whales habitat ranges between Madagascar and Antarctica. In 1904 there used to be close to 400,000 blue whales living on earth, but now due to over hunting people have put the human race in danger along with the blue whale species. The history of whaling originates all the way back 3000B.C. Whaling is killing whales for meat and oil. Huge fleets of whalers did not come around until the 1700 s. By the 1930 s 50,000 whales were being killed annually. From 1904 to 1967 360,000 blue whales were killed, that adds up to about 70% of their population. Whales produce up to 3 off spring at most in one year so the bounce back from a huge killing would take many years. The International Whaling Commission was established in 1946, to help fight commercial whaling. The IWC came around to help fight whaling, but they had little effect. • 28. Andrew Jackson Speech Andrew Jackson s Speech to Congress: Indian Removal The chosen document was written by former president Andrew Jackson on December 6, 1830. Andrew Jackson was a less educated political figure, he was fairly illiterate but he did make major changes to the united states. The purpose of this speech was to justify, to the American people and to congress; the removal policy already established by the Indian Removal Act of May 28, 1830. During this speech, Andrew Jackson gives his reasoning for why the Indians should be relocated. He states that the Removal Act will, separate the Indians from immediate contact with settlements of whites; free them from the power of the States; enable them to pursue happiness in their own way and under their own rude institutions.. (Jackson) This is an absurd statement, because even though relocating the Indian tribes and communities did help expand the land of the United States, this act left many of Indians without any ties to the land they were forced to move to. Just because the Indians wanted to keep their land and would do anything to defend it, didn t mean that they were a threat to the white civilizations. Though, of course, these arguments are the exact reason why Jackson gave this speech. Throughout this document, Jackson keeps giving explanations as to why the Removal act improves both the Indian and white societies, in his point of view anyway. Jackson does assume that most people understand the meaning of words like abode and discontented. Of course, this speech was given over almost 188 years ago, when the intended audience was made up of mainly highly educated men of political standpoints. So, naturally, this document is easy to believe if the reader can adopt the mental state of this time period: where mostly men occupied the educated population; most rights that our societies abuse and take for granted today did not exist; and even be able to ignore the immoral way that Americans during this time period thought. These early Americans thought that they could just roll onto a new land, and say claim to have any right to conquer it, without caring too much for the societies that they destroyed along the way. • 29. The Immense Character Development in Antigone by Sophocles... Brad Moore, a famous athlete once said, Pride would be a lot easier to swallow if it didn t taste so bad. In Sophocles well known Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character undergoes immense character development. Antigone transforms from being stubborn and underestimated to courageous and open minded. In reality, it is Antigone s insular persistence that leads to her ultimate decline in the play as well as others around her. After the death of her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, Creon becomes the new ruler of Thebes. With this, he grants Eteocles an honorable funeral service for his brave fighting. Claiming that Polynices was a traitor, he shows complete refusal to grant Polynices a respectable and worthy service. Clearly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an extremely poor sense of pride. She will stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes over her thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is exaggerated to a point where her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to anything wrong she has done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid though perverse valor which creates the drama (Rose 220). Her excessive pride to save her brother results in chaos for herself as well as those around her. Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper burial. She shows immense loyalty and will power as she fights for her family name. Her endurance is extraordinary as she declares Naturally! Since Zeus never promulgated such a law, nor will you find that Justice, Mistress of the world below, publishes such laws on humankind. I never thought your mortal edicts had such force they nullified the laws of heaven... (Sophocles 38). Antigone responds to Creon s speech and disagrees with his proclamation denying Polynices a funeral. Polynices, hated by the entire country, is being deprived of an appropriate burial service and Antigone is determined to honor her brother correctly (Rose 219). The courage she displays is crucial factor in her character development. The devotion towards helping her brother is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Comparing Bradstreet s Sinners In To My Dear And Loving... Jonathan Edwards hellfire and brimstone in his Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God has several comparisons and contrasts with Anne Bradstreet s poems, Upon the Burning of Our House and To My Dear and Loving Husband. One of the comparisons would be with the concept of Eternal Life. Both writers were Puritans, and accepted the concept of life after death. Bradstreet says in To my Dear and Loving Husband that she hopes the heavens reward thee manifold, I pray...Then when we live no more, we may live ever. Saying we may live ever gives the reader the thought of life after death, and she is saying that she wants to live eternally with her husband. Edwards had the same idea, but in a darker sense. He insisted upon the fact that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. Andrew Marvell s `` Conflictual World View `` Essay By 1642, England had descended into chaos as civil war ravaged the country. King Charles I had dissolved Parliament in 1629 thus making the King vastly unpopular throughout his dominion. After reestablishing the Parliament in 1640, Oliver Cromwell was elected amidst ensuing popularity as a religious, talented military man, who supported an agenda for radical reforms (Britannica). The wars ended with the following outcomes: Charles I beheaded, Cromwell soon in command as Lord Protector of the Commonwealth, the eventual return to power of the Royalists and the coronation of King Charles II in 1660. However, the tumultuous political atmosphere of the recent decades left its mark on every citizen of the kingdoms. One of these citizens, Andrew Marvell s, conflictual world view seems unmistakably the product of the unsettled civil war decades (1366 early 17th century intro). Andrew Marvell was a noted scholar, a tutor to General Fairfax s daughter (a foe of Cromwell during the English Civil wars) and eventually became a member of Parliament. He is known for his ambiguous writings and elusive rhetoric; perhaps a defensive gesture to hide his true opinions from the public (Norton Anthology of English Literature, 1366). The chaotic atmosphere caused much fear in the citizens as any criticism of the government would be an affront and the punishment was often arrest and execution. The imagery portrays confident and proud women when she describes the women. She also exploits visual imagery so that people can picture her image as somebody who can embrace herself well in spite of her race and color. The poem further appears to have some sort of musical lyrics, which is linked to Angelou s background as a dancer. This musical tone is evident the refrain and rhyme of the poem. The musical lyric is further seen in the use of words with the same number of syllables at the start of every line of a stanza for instance The sun of my smile/The flash of my teeth and others all have five syllables. The poet also assumes an ironic tone as illustrated by her judgment of the world s perception of a perfect woman and her own understanding of an ideal woman. The poem s overall structure is also similar to natural curves of a woman, which further stresses its theme. The use of alliteration devices is also evident in the line, Pretty women wonder , which explains the contrast between world s view of a pretty woman and her own view (Angelou 1). Furthermore, the last line in all stanzas is used to express the fact that the speaker is truly a phenomenal woman. There s no doubt about that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
