Why should we create prototypes?
• learn what works and what
doesn’t
• communicate an idea
• collaborate better
• start conversations
• help teams to build empathy
• explore options and barriers
• test hypotheses
• manage the building process
• be inspired
• make us think better
• fail early, less risky
This all comes down to…

Decide what you need to validate first
Prototypes that
test desirability
Prototypes that
test viability
Prototypes that
test feasibility

Start silent solo, write down “what if’s” or “we assume’s”
After 5 minuten, discuss the options
Examples:
We assume that people will take an effort to bring their brushes to a
chemical waste collection point if they know about it.
We assume the nurses want to wear a google glass during their work if that
means they can spend more time with a patient.

Don’t waste time
Build just enough to learn
So…
What do you need to learn
in the test?

What are your assumptions? Define hypotheses
What is the best way to validate these assumptions?
How will you measure it?
What kind of prototype are you going to build to test?
Who will be the target audience?
How are you going to recruit them?
When is the test succesfull? And when does it fail?
