Maluda was a Portuguese painter born in 1934 in Goa who focused on synthesizing urban landscapes, particularly of Lisbon. She lived and began painting in Maputo from 1948. Between 1964-1967 she studied in Paris with a Gulbenkian Foundation scholarship. Maluda developed a unique style characterized by vibrant color palettes and brilliant use of light. She continued experimenting with different genres and mediums until her death in 1999.
