To begin with, I have set my eyes on becoming a social worker. Further, through my involvement in the realm of social work, I hope to help as many individuals as I can. For a long a time, I have exhibited immense passion and the need to come to the assistance of individuals who are grappling with a vast array of unsavory circumstances. My passion is as a result of my experiences of the suffering of many people whom I have interacted with throughout my life. Notably, the majority of these people had to contend with abuse and neglect for a long time. Moreover, my need is as a result of my comprehension of the fact that transforming the globe commences with the assistance of a just a single individual and having the ability to empathize with individuals. Having witnessed so much suffering throughout my life, I feel that it is right for me to do whatever I can to bring smiles to faces of individuals who have faced diverse challenging situations in their life. In this way, I believe that I will be able to bring much-needed positive contributions to my preferred profession.
Further, I bring various positive and unique qualities to social work, the most prominent of which include empathy, active listening, and persuasion. Firstly, empathy relates to the capability of an individual to identify with the situation in which another individual is. Undoubtedly, empathy is immensely critical in the realm of social work owing to the fact that it aids those partaking in the field to not only comprehend but also assist others in ascertaining solutions to their problems. Apart from this, active listening is equally critical in social work because it helps in establishing trust, opening doors, and coming to the discovery of important details regarding the people seeking the assistance of social workers. In this way, their unique circumstances can be understood. Additionally, the value of persuasion cannot be stressed enough, as it aids in influencing, coaxing, or inviting individuals to take action, for instance, when it comes to the transformation of client behavior.
With respect to how I see my role in the profession evolving through time, I hope that I will start working as a child welfare social worker in a hospital. I intend to offer services to children who are grappling with abuse and neglect owing to the actions of their parents. On top of this, I intend to assist children coming from families that do not earn enough income. In addition, I hope that I will become a hospital manager of child welfare five years after starting my practice of social work. Following the attainment of two to three years’ experience as child welfare social worker, on top of undergoing additional management training, I hope that I will be able to land the position. In addition, I intend to start a non-profit communit.

Her research interests include the relationship between physical activity and depression/suicide in adolescents. She aims to lower recidivism rates and help those suffering from mental illness, substance abuse, and family issues through counseling and research with non-profit organizations after completing her master's degree.
Psychological research has fundamentally impacted mental health in the UK by sparking new treatments and making organizations like the NHS more efficient. However, some critique the actual impact of research on change. Assessing the impact of research is important, as one aim of research is to positively benefit patients' lives by informing health organizations' practices and improving efficiency. It also discusses how research has aimed to reduce stigma, which the WHO called a "hidden human rights emergency." Dandelion Hashtable: beyond billion requests per second on a commodity serverAntonios Katsarakis
This slide deck presents DLHT, a concurrent in-memory hashtable. Despite efforts to optimize hashtables, that go as far as sacrificing core functionality, state-of-the-art designs still incur multiple memory accesses per request and block request processing in three cases. First, most hashtables block while waiting for data to be retrieved from memory. Second, open-addressing designs, which represent the current state-of-the-art, either cannot free index slots on deletes or must block all requests to do so. Third, index resizes block every request until all objects are copied to the new index. Defying folklore wisdom, DLHT forgoes open-addressing and adopts a fully-featured and memory-aware closed-addressing design based on bounded cache-line-chaining. This design offers lock-free index operations and deletes that free slots instantly, (2) completes most requests with a single memory access, (3) utilizes software prefetching to hide memory latencies, and (4) employs a novel non-blocking and parallel resizing. In a commodity server and a memory-resident workload, DLHT surpasses 1.6B requests per second and provides 3.5x (12x) the throughput of the state-of-the-art closed-addressing (open-addressing) resizable hashtable on Gets (Deletes).

Impact on People's Lives
Dr. Laura M. Giurge is an award-winning behavioral and organizational
scholar. Currently, she serves as an assistant professor of Behavioral
Science at the London School of Economics and Political Science. She
has a Ph.D. in Management from Erasmus University Rotterdam and
two cum laude Master's degrees from the University of Groningen in
Economics and Business and Human Resources Management (NL).
Before joining the London School of Economics, she worked as a post-
doctoral research fellow at Cornell University (USA) and London
Business School (U.K). She was also a visiting scholar at Harvard
Business School (USA).
Laura's research has been published in several top academic journals,
including the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, Nature
Human Behaviour, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision
Processes, and The Leadership Quarterly, and it is often featured in the
media. She is highly passionate about communicating her research to
organizational leaders and the general public and has written about her
work in the Harvard Business Review, The Wall Street Journal, and
Forbes
Recently, we got a chance to sit down with Dr. Giurge to learn more
about her work to address ongoing challenges in the workplace.

Please tell me your story. Or how did you get your start?
Dr. Giurge: I'm currently an assistant professor at the London School of
Economics and Political Science (LSE). I am also a behavioral scientist
and academic advisor for different organizations, including
MoreThanNow, and a Research Affiliate at the Wellbeing Research
2. Centre at the University of Oxford. On the side, I'm a photographer and
artist and have already had my own photography exhibit in 2016. I've
started my multiple careers by pursuing my interests and exploring my
curiosity. It hasn't been easy, and it is still challenging to wear so many
hats simultaneously, but each hat brings something unique to my life.
What would you say has been your greatest accomplishment?
Dr. Giurge: Thus far, my greatest accomplishment has been the
scholarships I've won to study abroad.
Being a key person in this environment is challenging and all-
consuming—are you prepared for the challenge? (How would you
Control the Situation)
Dr. Giurge: Various experiences taught me some difficult and painful
lessons. So, I seek to control the situation by being extremely careful
who I work with. To me, people are everything
What does success look like for you?
Dr. Giurge: One of my key measures of success is the number of people
I've helped achieve their goals, professionally or personally.
What is your "vision" in life, e.g., what drives you to a Successful
Journey?
Dr. Giurge: One piece of my vision is to leave Earth a better place by
helping those without voice or agency.
What's the best advice you've recently received?
Dr. Giurge: We create our meaning in life, and that is scary and
liberating at the same time. Once you know what motivates you, it
becomes clearer what you should say 'yes' or 'no' to.
3. Give us advice that you would share with entrepreneurs just
starting.
Dr. Giurge: One of my guiding principles is action because. I know from
research that some of the most painful regrets in life are those of inaction
rather than action. So, even when the outcome is painful, I'm grateful to
have tried something than to have wondered what if.
