The Importance Of The United States Patriot Act
Two months after the September eleventh attacks on the Twin Towers, President Bush signed a
document called the United States Patriot Act. The Patriot Act was signed to help prevent another
terrorist attack on the United States through many types of surveillance. Growing concerns have come
out about the Patriot Act and how much power it gives to the federal government. But, the government
does need to monitor the citizens to try and stop another September eleventh attack by collecting
information on suspected terrorists and stopping money laundering. The September eleventh attacks
killed many people in the Twin Towers. President Bush passed the United States Patriot Act to help
defend the nation from another horrific attack. The Patriot Act gives the National Security Agency
(NSA) and other organizations freedom to spy on suspected terrorists to stop terrorism. Many people
do not agree with giving the government the power to spy on anybody. The opposers believe that the,
... checks and balances of the U.S. law... abuses... power by the government (Library of Congress).
They also believe that it goes against the fourth amendment that states, the right of the people to be
secure... against unreasonable searches and seizures... upon probable cause (Fourth Amendment). With
the fourth amendment stating that people have the right to privacy, the opposers believe that it is
unconstitutional for the President to sign the Patriot Act. The government can foil terrorist plans by

Long-Distance Races throughout Time
Long distances races have been part of cultures and traditions since centuries and have also been used
for economic and travelling purposes. It was also used as a message service, when messengers ran to
cover long distances in order to convey messages from one place to another. Since the end of 19th
century it has been used and recognized also as a sport, when it was first incorporated in the 1896
Olympics. Long distance races start from 5 to 10 kilometers and are usually longer than 40 kilometers
in length, projected to test and increase the physical endurance of the people. It is also physically
healthy and increases the stamina of the people that can be useful in other fields and activities of life
like participation in armed forces and activities like exercising, aerobics and yoga (Kim, et al.). There
is an art behind the ability to run long distance races. Some characteristics that are essential are natural
and God gifted such as length of the legs and stamina to some extent (Roecker, et al.). Other abilities
can be trained and developed to enhance the skill of running long distances and competing in
marathons competitions worldwide. People who master the tactics and techniques to run long
distances enjoy throughout the course of running and can have a wonderful refreshing experience
(Schrauwen, et al.). The first step to convert the experience from hectic to pleasant is to run at a slower
speed, which is comfortable and can be endured by the runner for longer period

The Danger Of Cyber Attacks On Power Plants
The danger of cyber attacks on power plants are something that needs to be looked at closely to avoid
costly deadly incidents. Cybersecurity has become a vital component of our world today and it needs
to evolve fast to keep up in its protection from the outside. Cybersecurity protects us from
unauthorized shutdowns, break ins, financial and social ruin. We live in a world that has become
completely reliant on computers for everything. They are able to cause chaos and even shutdown
nuclear centrifuges, air defense systems, and electrical grids. (Hathaway, Crootof, Levitiz, Nix,
Nowlan, Perdue Spiegel, 2012) Cyber attacks are more common today due to the increase capability
of technology. Important information along with every aspect of people s lives are kept on computers
or cell phones which are vulnerable at all times. An example of this would be the leaked snapchat
photos of celebrities, stolen identities and unauthorized access from an outside computer into a power
plant. In New York State we have four nuclear power plants. These nuclear power plants contribute to
the economy, society and the environment. The Nuclear power plants are Entergy s Fitzpatrick in
Scriba and Indian Point in Buchanan, and Exelon s Ginna in Ontario and Nine mile point in Scriba
provide New York households and employers with over 5,000 megawatts (MW)of emissions free
electricity and nearly 42 million megawatt hours (MWh) of annual electricity generation. (Investment

The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War
Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during
this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and
their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back
further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However,
renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory.
The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going
to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war.
In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the
right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and
resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power.
Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to
aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any
appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the
Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war.
Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta)
made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the
Peloponnesian war.
After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was
formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Each city contributed funds to help

The Country Of South Africa
South Africa, a nation that is located at the tip of the African Continent. The economy of South Africa
is based almost completely on mining and the production of minerals. With a rich history of
colonization and independence, along with a fight for freedom. Widely diverse with many ethnicities
and languages, the people come from many different places into one.
The capital of South Africa is Pretoria, the city has a population of 1,209,000 as of 2005. Two other
major cities in South Africa are Cape Town and Johannesburg with populations of 3,103,000 and
3,228,000 as of 2005. South Africa is located south of Botswana and Zimbabwe, to the Southwest of
Namibia and to the Southeast of Mozambique. To the East is the Indian Ocean, to the West is the
Atlantic Ocean, and to the South is the confluence of the two oceans. It is about twice the size of
Texas. The physical makeup of the nation is that there are the Eastern and Western Plateau Slopes
along with the Kalahari Basin starting in the South and ending in the North Central region. Located in
the East lies a mountain range by the name of the Drakensberg Mountains, tallest of which is Mt.
Injastu. The Western Cape province is very fertile, producing citrus fruits and grapes. The two most
important rivers in the country are the Orange and the Limpopo Rivers. In the central region of South
Africa are the Little and Great Karoo Highlands. South Africa is located completely in the Southern

Transient Global Amnesia
Transient Global Amnesia and Sleep
This paper will discuss whether Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is or is not induced by our sleep
patterns and quality of sleep. Per the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM), Transient Global
Amnesia (TGA) is defined as a temporary memory loss characterized by an abrupt onset of
anterograde (AGA) and retrograde amnesia (RA). In other words, TGA occurs when there is a sudden
occurrence of both Anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia at the same time. As defined by the
JCSM, anterograde amnesia is the acute inability to retain new information and retrograde amnesia is
the significant reduction in the ability to recall past events. TGA has been known to last up to twenty
four hours. During the acute ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But can consolidation of memories be affected in the same way? In studies that concentrated on how
Benzodiazepines (a substance used as a sleep aid and an anti anxiety medicine) affected the quality of
sleep and memory of events that happen during interrupted sleep periods. Subjects fell back asleep
rather quickly, but come morning, had much trouble recalling the tasks they were given to complete
earlier in the night. In studies that looked at memory between wake and sleep, researchers presented
undergraduate students a verbal word as they drifted off into sleep. But of course, to ensure sleepiness
the students were limited to two hours of sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an
electroencephalograph (EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle.
Using the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either allowed them short
periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once their subjects were woken up, they tested
their memory through recognition. Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of
sleep did, in fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period, in this
case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to them in the five minutes
prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted as an interruption of the transfer of the
memory from short term to long term storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was
unavailable to be recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an example
of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if subjects were aroused in any
way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their words, then it could be that AGA has been induced.
What this fails to conclude however is if both

Wolves Ulrich Wiesel s Night

moving that tree, Georg, help me, help me!!! The wolves, hungry for Georg s blood, begin running
towards them. Both Ulrich and Georg begin screaming together for their men to help them: Help!
Someone help us! Quick! Vicious wolves are about to attack! Help! Please! However, with an ironic
twist of Nature, when Ulrich von Gradwitz meets face to face, when the two enemies are immobilized,
they speak in hateful tones of how their men will arrive and the other will be destroyed. Ironically,

Each one of them had one so that the wolves could defend themselves, but nevertheless it is not
known if they are going to live, it could be that they die The idiot chatter of the man indicates the
horrible end that they will suffer. Both Gradwitz and Znaeym are waiting for their men to come and
rescue them. There are figures coming toward them. Znaeym cannot see who is coming. He questions
Gradwitz about whose men are arriving first. Gradwitz becomes quiet. He realizes the figures who are
approaching are wolves. Gradwitz is afraid of the wolves and they are very dangerous. The trapping of
the two enemies beneath a mass of tangled, heavy branches on the disputed land advances the plot
because the shared life threatening dilemma with which they are confronted prevents any physical
reaction and gives them cause to evaluate the significance of their feud. Georg was the one who had
blood dripping in his eyes when a part of the tree scratched his face. Georg in this part of the story
demonstrates the fatal error that he and Georg committed. When they believed that any of them can
truly own this little piece of land. That is why this caused some errors. Georg says that if they choose
to reconcile, there will be no outside intruders that will interfere with the end of their dispute. Georg

Pay It Forward Examples
It is possible for an idea to change the world. Both examples from the movie, Pay it Forward and from
actual history prove that the world could change due to a single idea.
An example of an idea changing the world could be found in the movie, Pay it Forward. In the movie,
a 12 year old boy, Trevor, came up with the idea of helping three people with something they couldn t
have done by themselves and in return each of them had to help three people with something they
couldn t do by themselves (paying the favor forward). Trevor first attempts this idea by taking in a
homeless man. The homeless man in return, repaired the car Trevor s mom was trying to sell. Later in
the story the man comes across a woman about to commit suicide and persuade her

Godfrey Gauntlet The Wife Of Mr. Pickle
The author explores the complex interplay between emotions and social propriety in the beginning of
the passage by stating that pickle is the lover and your other brother Godfrey Gauntlet is confronting
him about his and his sister s relationship. Here you can understand the tension between the two about
what s best for the sister. You can interpret that Godfrey Gauntlet is an overprotective brother at this
time because in the 1700s women weren t allowed to leave the house or go about without a men
escorting them. In the beginning Godfrey questions the lover, Mr. Pickle, Mr. Pickle, you have carried

social class; considering the fact that Mr. Gauntlet being a soldier in the army. Now this infuriates Mr.
Gauntlet to express The soldier s wrath was inflamed by this ironical repetition... his conscious
poverty made him feel... He then refers Mr. Pickle as his antagonist presumptuous boy, insolent

furthermore express the agitation between the two characters. They then walk into the field to duel in a
proper manner. They decide their quarrel by the sword. Seems that in the past a quarrel had to be a fair
decision agreed by both parties to be fair. Having helped to pull off each other s boots, and laid aside
their coats and waist coats , was the polite way of the social norm. Mr. Gauntlet begins to be full of
himself about his abilities as an expert swordsmen , and that Mr. Pickle should be upon a more equal
footing in using pistols. But the moment was too heated that now the tone rose with rage as Mr. Pickle
rejected the proposal. Going back to social norms of the time, other than coming of as aragant, Mr.
Gauntlet showed that he was trying to be even and give Mr. Pickle a chance to beat him.. Mr. Pickle
made no reply but attacked his adversary with equal ferocity and address. Then after mr. Pickle s third
thrust he was wounded but was superficial. The site of his own blood made him express ...such fury
and precipitation, that Gauntlet loath to take advantage of his unguarded heat... Because Mr. Gauntlet

4.1. Overview of the tradable green certificates system
The support system for renewable energy in Romania, i.e. quota system with tradable green
certificates, was launched in 2004 in order to achieve two goals: to reduce the prices for consumers
and to protect the generators of renewable electricity. Wind energy, solar energy, biomass, micro hydro
and geothermal energy are all sources of energy that can be supported by this system [68].
The trading of green certificates is ensured by OPCOM (green certificates market operator) who
establishes the prices on the centralized market of green certificates. The green certificates are sold on
the green certificates market, independently from electricity sold on the electricity market. The green

Renewable electricity producers operate both on the electricity market (as producers of electricity),
and on the green certificates market (as owners of green certificates). If they do not fulfill the annual
mandatory quota, then they have to pay a penalty equal to the value of the green certificates not
purchased. The payment is made to Transelectrica S.A., who is the power grid company.
The evolutions of the Romanian economy and energy sector, as well as the international trends have
induced the necessity of updating the strategies, policies, plans and programs previously developed.
The Romanian Energy Strategy for the period 2007 2020 updated for the period 2011 2020 states as
the overall objective of the energy sector to meet the energy needs both now and in the medium and
long term, at the lowest possible price, suitable for a modern economy, and a decent standard of living,
in terms of quality and energy security, respecting the principles of sustainable development [61].
Having in mind the role of energy in society and in all economic sectors, the development of this
sector is made under the supervision of the state, through the development and the implementation of
the sector strategy.
For the promotion of renewable energy sources the strategy envisages the following measures [61]:
Development of the use of renewable energy sources for electricity and heat production through

Hydraulic Fracking In The Oil And Gas Industry
Introduction and Background In the oil and gas industry, fracking is a major current issue that
engineers are dealing with for the current state of the United states. Hydraulic fracking, or fracking is
the process of drilling a well to the depth in the earth where shale rock is located. Once the drill bit
reaches this specific depth, the drilling alters its path to a horizontal track into the shale rock in order
to span the entire reservoir. Next, fracking fluid, consisting of sand, liquid chemicals, and water, is
injected into the shale rock at a high pressure, which cause small cracks, known as fissures, in the
rock. This action allows oil and natural gas to freely escape into the pipeline. The oil and gas mixture
then flows to the surface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also the disposal of the fracking fluid should be regulated in a non harmful way to the environment.
Along with many other engineering activities, there are ignorant people that rally against fracking due
to the little information they know and their refusal to research the topic before making
accusations. Conclusion In conclusion, Fracking is an innovative way to extract oil and gas from shale
rock. It differs from conventional drilling from the fact that deeper wells and horizontal drilling are
utilized in order to produce more. There are many benefits that accompany fracking, such as increased
employment and decreased cost of importation for the US because of their large reserves of shale
rock. Fracking does come with some drawbacks, such as environmental issues and fresh water
reserves. With future regulations of fracking, the negative environmental effects can be mitigated.
Also, additional water purification systems should be implemented at fracking sites in order for excess
water to be reused and not disposed. Currently, OPEC has lowered the price to $54 per barrel, which
limits fracking because the breakeven price per barrel is $64 ( A key investor s guide to the crude oil
market ). When the price per barrel exceeds $64, US will become an exporter rather than importing
form outside countries. This will ultimately increase the US

An Integrated Signal Conditioning Block For Electrocardiogram
The AD8232 is an integrated signal conditioning block for Electrocardiogram, which is designed for
extraction, amplification and filtering of small biopotential signals in the presence of noisy conditions,
created by motion or remote electrode placement. The AD8232 has essential pins like shutdown pin,
leadoff+, leadoff , analog output, 3.3v, gnd to operate with the Arduino Mega 2560. There also exist
RA(Right Arm),LA(Left Arm), RL(right leg) pins to attach to the custom sensor of human body . It
has an led indicator which pulsates with the rhythm of a heartbeat
.2.2.6 Heartbeat Sensor
The Heartbeat sensor works on the principle of photoplethysmography which is a method of not
invading the body for measuring heartbeat. It provides a simple way to obtain the function of the
heart. The heartbeats can be measured based on the principle of psycho physiological signal which is
used as a stimulus for the virtual reality system. The blood flow in the finger changes every instant.
The sensor shines a small very bright LED through the clip and measures the light that gets
transmitted to the Light Dependent Resistor. The signal firstly gets amplified after which it is inverted
and filtered. In order to calculate the heart rate based on the blood that flows to the fingertip, the
sensor is connected to a LM358 OP AMP for observing the heartbeat pulses. The module gives a
direct output digital signal when connected to a microcontroller. It is compact in size and works at a

What Is Ecotourism
What is ecotourism? Normally, natural travel can be called as ecotourism. Eco came from the Greek
words called OIKOS , it means the habitat and it is an abbreviation of the words ecology . This word
actually came from the scientific study of the relationship of living organisms to each other and their
surroundings. Therefore, in this point of view, ecotourism means ecological tourism; whereby
ecological has both of the social content and environmental. According to Page Dowling (2002), since
most of the definition of ecotourism have been explained, it is not so much as a word but a philosophy
and a commitment which evolved from environmental awareness of 1960s, there have been various

Theme Of Bully In Stephen King s Carrie
An outcast at Penn Manor High School walks into the school, this kid was that same kid nearly
everyone made fun of because he was overweight, the one who almost everyone called a retarded

he drops his bag, pulls out a gun with a blank, emotionless expression on his face and shoots each
person in his range of fire. A few of the people shot did not even bully this poor teenager, but
collateral damage is done due to the actions of the ones who started torturing this kid. Unfortunately,
these situations happen more often than they ever should. Stephen King addresses this type of
situation with a supernatural twist in his novel Carrie. King s fear ... Show more content on

This is also shown as the main character is described in the novel, Carrie stood among them stolidly, a
frog among swans. She was a chunky girl with pimples on her neck and back and buttocks, her wet

that became the inspiration for the novel as well. In Lynching Stephen King , Stephen King delineates
his encounter with Sondra s sanctimonious mother. She converses with him about the statue of Jesus
in the living room. The mother asked King if he was saved and he quickly assured her that he was, but
he was also distracted by his thoughts of feeling that the statue was a little too over the top to have in a

Margaret White is also shown to be overly religious when it comes to the subject of Carrie s period in
the novel. This description of Carrie s mother shows the relationship between the two people, Lord,

Prejudice And Discrimination Essay
A lot of people understand and have gone through stereotyping, prejudice, and discrimination. Social
Psychologists make a distinction between these by concentrating on either they include emotions,
understanding, or attitudes. Racism is the influence, or reaction, visible feature of this triad. Racism
includes a contradicting approach into individuals situated on their association in a specific
organization. The psychological visible feature is stereotyping. Stereotypes are feelings concerning the
characteristics of specific crowds or associates of those organizations. Prejudice includes attitudes.
Discrimination is bad attitude toward people or organizations established on assumptions and feelings

Societal beginnings of racism associate the averages in our surroundings, the rivalry that lives
amongst organizations, and the societal unevenness that survive in our planet. For the reason that
classifying occurs commonly and is a beneficial utensil in a lot of forms, every person s civilization is
expected to acquire stereotypes. Ingroup partiality directs to mismatched treatment of the ones that we
have classified just as the outgroup. As well as outgroup uniformity partiality blocks our view on the
dissimilarities inside the outgroup.
Yet our understanding about the traits of these outgroups and how solid our racism is counts on the
specific civilization in which we live in. Racism and stereotypes bear beginnings in the pattern of our
societal organizations. Humans are taught bad behaviors against organizations by acquiring the
standards of their societal background. We are taught from our associates on which stereotypes are
suitable. When participants in one study were led to believe that their stereotypes were different from
those of their peers, those stereotypes were transformed to be more in connection with associate
stereotypes.
Assuming that our societal standards inform us that something on how racist we have to be against
specific organizations. Social norms dictate that we dislike child abusers, terrorists, and members of
the Ku Klux Klan. And these groups are groups we have strong prejudices toward. On

that are in the Northwest Texas Annual Conference area. By excluding state level data in favor of
county level data, Figure 12 creates a closer relationship to the actual conference totals. However, the
area population does not reflect the demographics of its conference membership.
Figure 13 Conference s Actual Ethnic Breakdown
As you can see by comparing the two figures, the Northwest Texas AC s demographics do not
correlate to the geographic area. Northwest Texas contains a large concentration of African American.
Please note that the conference members may self identity on UMC data forms differently than US

Descriptive Essay About Music
It is the last weekend of October in New Orleans, Voodoo Festival is here and the locals are dressed to
impress in the most bizarre costumes and makeup for the fun of the greatest weekend of their lives.
Tourist along with new comers take selfies with groups of friends around the large white Voodoo
lettering past the front entrance that has a line wrapped around City Park. Past the shopping stands and
mini bars on the way to the stage there are more sculptures from local artist leading the passageway
for festival goers. Thousands of unfamiliar faces walk toward the five stages all conversing, making a
loud buzz of chatter. Beyond the gates of Voodoo, society is divisive and cruel, but one common
interest that brings people from all backgrounds together. Music. Music festivals unite people into a
community where there are different genres of music, opportunity to meet new people, and to discover
new music. The artist performing varies from the five stages, their scheduled time are spread out
during the three day weekend of music. A girl with neon socks covered in glitter from head to toe
wearing fairy wings on her back, is speaking obnoxiously to her friend wearing almost the exact

Negative Effects of Divorce on Children Essay
Negative Effects of Divorce on Children
Divorce has a strong negative effect on children. The children are brought into the family and then
ripped out of what they know is right or of their norms. James M. Henslin defines the family as being
two or more people who consider themselves related by blood, marriage, or adoption (445). When
married you are instantaneously put into a family. When two people decide to get a divorce, their
children do not wholly understand what is going on. Regardless of their age, children usually blame
themselves when their parents divorce (Bankston 382). They don t understand their parents anger at
each other, so they believe this is happening because of something they have done. This is why ...

Some other downfalls, to the children of divorced parents, would be they start engaging in sexual
activity sooner, are more likely to have children out of wedlock, are less likely to marry, and if they
marry, are more likely to get divorced. They are likelier to abuse drugs, turn to crime, and commit
suicide (Leo 2000). These are all unfortunate incidences that could have been lessened or even
prevented. When Henslin stated that the family consists of two or more people, this is still true for
after the divorce. Henslin gives great points when helping children adjust to divorce. The adjustment
is better if (1) both parents show understanding and affection; (2) the child lives with a parent who is
making a good adjustment; (3) family routines are consistent; (4) the family has adequate money for
its needs; and (5) that the child lives with a parent of the same sex (466).
When the parents show love and affection toward the children, their welfare is better in the long run.
These examples are only of the physical and emotional changes. Let s take a look at more emotional
changes that occur. These children are torn between their parent. They were never told to make a
choice between one or the other before and they are having a hard time doing that now. Studies show
that these children have more hostility, anxiety, and nightmares, and they don t do as well in school
(Henslin 466). Parents tend to forget

Mr Palmer Ischaemic Stroke Case Study Nursing
Mrs Alice Palmer is 54 years old, female and has had hypertension for years but does not take

the bloodstream resulting in tissue in the brain dying. (Stroke Foundation Australia, 2016). Compared
to another 54 year old woman who doesn t have hypertension, Mrs Palmer s risk of a stroke is higher
due to the hypertension. Age is another factor that contributes to the risk of having a stroke especially

The Struggle Over Kashmir, By Mohandas Gandhi
Introduction
The name Kashmir has become synonymous with slaying, destruction and religious massacre in South
Asia. Ever since the partition of India in 1947, when Britain dismantled its Indian empire, India and
Pakistan have been archrivals. What makes this conflict interesting, conversely, is how much they hate
one another. The hostility between these two has been rooted not only in religion and history, but is
exemplified by the long running battle over the control of Jammu and Kashmir. Which has recently
intensified into a treacherous nuclear arms race.
How the conflict arose?
In order to completely understand the struggle over Kashmir, it is important to understand the history
of this longtime conflict. During the early 1900 s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In just a period of four days over 5,000 people were killed during religious riots in the Indian city of
Calcutta. After the partition of India and Pakistan, to stop Kashmir from being a part of India, Pakistan
invaded them and tried to gain control. The Maharaja of Kashmir at the time fled to India and offered
a deal to let Kashmir be under Indian control if India would defend Kashmir from further invasion.
India agreed and immediately sent out troops to fight off the Pakistani invaders. Per the agreement, the
Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir makes up about 45% of Kashmir. Pakistan controls three areas
known as Azad Kashmir, Gilgit and Baltistan, which make up about 35% of Kashmir. Finally, China
controls one area called Aksai Chin equaling to 20% of Kashmir. The people of Kashmir have the
same rights and privileges as any Indian citizen. The government of India has built schools, hospitals
and police stations for the Kashmiri people. But, the people of Kashmir preferred to be a part of
Pakistan due to their Islamic beliefs. Pakistan does not acknowledge the control of Kashmir by India
and still considers it their land.
Conflict
The most significant issue that divides these longtime rivals is not just nuclear arms or religious
beliefs. But also with the two most essential human needs: water and protection. The water that

and the second part will state the influence which he gave on. He has affected the jazz in his short life,
and even his influence continues today. John Coltrane is the most influential African American jazz
saxophonist and composer in the development of modern jazz of the 20th century. He was born at

close cousin all died within a few months of one another, like his father, aunt and grandparents, so
John was raised by his mother.
In September 1943, John got his first saxophone from his kind mother, an alto. And at the same year,
he entered the Ornstein School of Music, studied saxophone and the music theory course. In 1945, he

Annie Get Your Gun By Ethel Merman And Ray Middleton
Anything you do, I can do better; I can do anything, better than you , in Annie Get Your Gun
performed by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton, is one of many examples that are still battled today
on the topic of gender roles playing essentially to modern society. Historically, the relationship
between female and male has almost always been unequal and oppressive; but, a feminist critic would
aim to critique the nature of gender roles. In a feminist theory, it mainly focuses women s role as well
as their social standing in a society. In today s society, women empower society to promote matriarchy
whereas a female becomes the head of the family. Since the nineteenth century up until today in the
twenty first century, society has made assumptions about female based on their gender. For instance,
people often assume that men are strong and women are weak and that women cannot control their
emotions, and that men are better at hunting, and that women belong in the kitchen. Oftentimes, books
and movies can confirm such stereotypes of males as action heroes and women as housewives;
however, through the characters of Katniss and Peeta in The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins tries to
show her readers that these assumptions are false.
Moreover, Katniss is an individual who breaks away from the typical gender stereotypes that one
would assume while reading. In fact, showing her feminine side to readers, Katniss is simply a
nurturer because of how she takes care of others like Rue and Peeta

Coral Reef Bahamas
The coral reef of the Bahamas is home to a large variety of different organisms including sponges,
fish, anemones, sea stars, and crustaceans. They all use the reef as a form of resource for food,
protection from predators, or a place to live (Harborne et al. 2006). However, coral reefs all around the
world are in danger of depletion and destruction more now than ever (Richardson 1998). Damage to
the coral reef is caused by a number of factors such as increasing temperatures or reduction of sea pH
(van Hooidonk et al. 2013). These factors lead to an increase in diseases (Kuta and Richardson 2002;

can be successfully treated (NMFS 2001). Blotch, circular ring shaped lesions bordered by a faint

tissue being lost (Cervino et al. 2005). This disease is directly affecting important reef builders and
therefore affecting the growth of the coral reef itself (NMFS 2001). Dark Spots Disease is associated
with the appearance of dark spots that may expand over time. The affected tissue will occasionally
form depressions of the surface of the coral and may differ depending on the season however the
underlying skeleton will retain dark pigmentation even when tissue is gone (Gil Agudelo

For a company to achieve maximum impact on their strategies whether marketing, financial or

activities ensures smooth operation for maximum profit (Brinkman, 2). The business model strategy
enhances the management of the enterprise and operational design to conform to profit making goals
by implementing the segmentation of business activities. The research report will employ the business
model canvas to study and perform data analysis on the quickly growing taxi company Uber
Company. Data analysis is the deliberate activity of collecting and presenting data in a form that
highlights useful information that is helpful in decision making (Boyd, 18). Data analysis can be
described as the implied process of taking the whole of the collected data and identifying trends to
determine direction, meaning and implications, in addition to asking questions about the received data
and making comparisons within it to expand concepts from it (Warner, 13). Travis Kalanick and
Garrett Camp founded Uber Company back in 2009. The company s objective was to come up with a
mobile app that was to dominate in the transportation sector (Reilly Williams 32). The Uber app is

fake news to spark controversy in sports. The world of sports is largely affected by the media as they
are a big topic to talk about throughout all kinds of media. Although the media can provide

Sometimes a rivalry can become intensely heated and it may become violent. In the sport of soccer
one of the most anticipated matches of the year is none other than Real Madrid vs Barcelona. These
two teams are great teams and are the sport s biggest rivals. Before the match is played the media
heats up the rivalry by reporting that the one team is trash talking or undervaluing the other team. At
first it is taken lightly as just a publicity stunt but when the players overhear the news, they get over
competitive. When the match is being played there is always physical fights between players and it
gets out of hand. Not one of these rival matches has passed that a player doesn t get ejected from the
game. In conclusion, this proves how the media plays a large role on the player s mentality when
going into the game and can also cause them to behave in certain ways. It is well known that the
media is capable of spreading false rumors in order to spark controversy or to get more views. The
world of sports can also be affected by the spreading of false rumors. The relationships between
athletes may be torn by the media when they spread fake news regarding players. Sometimes athletes
overhear stories about what other athletes say and they might not agree with what they said so any
kind of respect that they had for each other before is now gone. Take, for example, when news began

Relationship Between Cellular Respiration And Photosynthesis
Cellular respiration and photosynthesis are the primary actions that organisms go through in order to
retrieve efficiency through nature. Photosynthesis is primarily done by plants and cellular respiration
is done by animals in order to gain the energy they require. Photosynthesis is the process through
which plant cells convert energy from the sun into chemical vitality. The chemical process of
photosynthesis involves carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight which are then turned to glucose and
oxygen. Cellular respiration consists of the separation of food molecules that results in energy which
is then reserved as adenosine triphosphate molecules. After sugar molecules are formed by
photosynthesis, the plants go through cellular respiration in order to form ATP molecules. Animals

The first stage is glycolysis, the second stage is the linking reaction, the third stage is the Krebs cycle,
and the final stage is electron transport. During the glycolysis stage glucose is disintegrated, this
happens in the cytoplasm of the cell. Once the glucose is broken down two identical compounds are
created. Two electrons and a hydrogen ion are removed then attached to adenine forming NADH.
Water is then formed using an oxygen and two hydrogen atoms. In this stage two ATP molecules are
added. The linking reaction occurs in the mitochondria of the cell. NAD+ and pyruvate come together
to form NADH and an acetyl enzyme. The Krebs cycle involves removing hydrogen atoms from the
acetyl coenzyme in order to form four molecules of ATP. Carbon then combines with oxygen, creating
carbon dioxide. Electrons are unconstrained and move towards the electron transport chain because of
NADH. These electrons go through the electron chain until it finds an oxygen atom, where water is
formed then released. ATP molecules are created because of the energy released by the electron. In
this stage 32 molecules of ATP are

The Sun Is The Only Star

close by into its body. Moreover, this almost spherical star, along with its strong gravity, consists of
the fire and lava that are made from the elements, burns and melts down all of the small meteorites

I tried look straight to the sun just for a few seconds. The outcome turned out that I was color blind for
a while. If I have starred at the sun for a minute, I would be blind for life. Another bad example, that
the atmosphere does not protect us from the sun, is our skins. The sun made every uncovered parts of
my body turn darker. When this happened, it took me months to recover my uncovered skin to have
the same color with the covered skin. I do not try to be offensive about the protection of the
atmosphere from the sun, but this is the true. The sun is dangerous, yet it also can be very helpful and
effective to our lives.
The sun allows species, such as human being, on earth to live until they are old enough to leave and
say goodbye to the material world. There is nothing that can replace the sun that is always helping our
lives and planet out of death and extinction. Other stars, indeed, have the same function as our sun
does, but they are too far away from our planet. They are just little dots that appear during night time
to make sky look pretty and fancy. Although our sun is better than other stars at bringing light and
warmness to us, it does not help us at all in the evening because it is in the opposite side of the earth.

A Rubik s Cube Is A Logic Game And Mathematical Puzzle
A Rubik s cube is a logic game and mathematical puzzle that develops critical thinking and spatial
reasoning skills. It is a three dimensional puzzle originally invented and developed by Erno Rubik to
serve the purpose of a mathematical aid in the 1970 s but unexpectedly evolved into what is now
considered to be the world s top selling toy. Erno Rubik was a young professor teaching interior
design and architecture in Hungary when he first created the object. He created an object that was not
supposed to be possible. His solid cube twisted and turned and still did not break or fall apart. Rubik
first invented the cube, formerly known as the Magic Cube to help explain three dimensional
geometry to his students. The puzzle is in the form of a cube made up of smaller, coloured
interlocking cubes that can be manipulated by twisting the horizontal and vertical planes. Initially
before the cube has been manipulated each face of the cube is covered in a different colour. Meaning
when you twist and turn the cube away from its original orientation the colours on each face will be
jumbled. Although it has now been made apparent that every legal permutation of the Rubik s cube
can be solved in 20 moves or fewer, it has been reported, the first time Rubik jumbled the cube it took
him a month to solve it. Throughout the introduction I have used information from sites reference [1]

John Milton Satan Quotes
Paradise Lost is a re telling of the well known story of Adam and Eve. John Milton begins Paradise
Lost by formally stating his poem s subject: humankind s first act of disobedience toward God and the
fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s consumption of the forbidden fruit
from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. However, their
actions were in response to a serpent s trickery. According to many Christian traditions, this serpent is
Satan, the angel who rebelled against God and fell from heaven to hell where he became pitted against
God and all humanity. However, in Paradise Lost, Milton complicates this set role of Satan. Milton s
Satan is an extraordinary and majestic figure that we find difficult to avoid feeling sympathy towards,
and impressed by his pride and leadership skills. (unafraid of being damned eternally, prideful, a
strong leader, comparable to the size of a Titan, and ingeniously develops his own heaven out of hell.)

bit sorry for him (put sad quote of him chained to the lake). All Satan wanted to achieve was to
overthrow God, which is impossible anyways because God has universal power. But he doesn t give

that Satan has because he wont give up once he starts something, he goes and finishes it. A lot of

(f) Assess the view that schools and what takes place within them are the main causes of social class
difference in educational achievement.
The above question is telling us that school and the education system are what cause social class.
Social class is where people have similar positions usually measures by education, occupation and
income. In my essay will include sociological evidence and theories exploring if social class is due to
schools and what goes on in them.
The first piece of evidence we can use to support the above statement is a Marxist point of view about
education. Bowles and Gintis (71) argue that meritocracy (your social position is based on your effort
and ability) is a myth. He believes that the educational system works against the interests of the
working class. Their correspondence theory they argued that there were a correspondence between the
social relationships at school to the social relationships at work. An example of this is schools and
work reward on external principals. In school you get rewarded with certificates, while in work you
are paid a wage. This relates to the question because it shows that

Vaccines And Its Effects On The Disease
Before vaccines were invented, whenever an individual contracted a disease, it would easily spread to
the people who were in contact with the individual. Many became carriers of the disease, resulting in
an outbreak. No one was immune from the disease, thus making the vast majority a suitable host for
the pathogen. In 1796, British physician Edward Jenner created the first vaccination for smallpox by
applying matters of fresh cowpox lesions on an infected eight years old s hand (Riedel 2005). The
fundamental principle behind vaccine is by injecting an antigen (usually a killed or weakened bacteria
cell) into a host body; the antigen will imitate an infection and attack the host body. However, since
the antigen is weakened or dead before being administered, it will not make the body sick. The antigen
triggers the immune system to produce T lymphocytes1, B lymphocytes2 and antibodies to attack the
affected cells, as though the body was infected with a disease. In the future, when the vaccinated
individual encounters the disease, his or her immune system will recognize the pathogen and
immediately produce the needed antibodies to fight it, preventing the individual from infected (
Understanding How Vaccines Work 2013).
Immunization is one of the most effective ways to prevent the widespread of infectious disease. When
the vast majority of the population is vaccinated, it results in herd immunity, a form of indirect
protection against infectious disease. Vaccination decreases

Volkswagen Cause And Effects
CAUSES AND EFFECTS OF VOLKSWAGEN COURT SETTLEMENT
Although many individuals are unaware of the TDI diesel emissions court settlement between
Volkswagen and their customers; there are two causes and several effects. John German discovered
the Volkswagen emissions scandal. It turns out that, the lawsuit came about due to cheating software
that Volkswagen installed in their 2.0 and 3.0 liter diesel vehicles. In turn, a few effects of the cheating
software resulted in a 14.7 billion dollar lawsuit between Volkswagen and their buyers, disappointed
customers, and huge inconveniences (Bartlett,2017). Due to the software installed in TDI diesel
vehicles, there are up to 11 million vehicles affected.
In May of 2014, John German discovered, and went public about the Volkswagen emissions scandal
(Kretchmer, 2015). John German is a senior co lead for the International Council on Clean
Transportation. Mr. German has worked for the Washington based Environmental Protection Agency
for 13 years, which indicates that he knows what the requirements and enforcement are. German
partnered with West Virginia University and conducted the ICCT study. During the ICCT study,
German noticed detrimental nitrogen oxide emission levels; which leads him to think Volkswagen
diesel cars were malfunctioning. German felt vehicles were malfunctioning because they were passing
emissions testing, yet the vehicles had up to 35 times permitted levels of nitrogen oxide.

Essay on Cerebral Palsy
Cerebral Palsy
According to the website www.cpal/geocities.org, I found some valuable information to help me with
my report about exceptionalities in students. This website was almost like a tutorial that walked step
by step through the disability, causes, and treatments.
I found that in definition the words Cerebral Palsy are used to describe a medical condition that affects
control of the muscles. Cerebral means anything in the head and palsy refers to anything wrong with
control of the muscles or joints in the body. If someone has cerebral palsy it means that because of an
injury to their brain (that s the cerebral part) they are not able to use some of the muscles in their body
in the normal way (that s the palsy part). Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Changes in muscle tone let us move.
In this website I also learned that there are several types of CP. I wrote the different types below to
help understand each one individually.
1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy
If muscle tone is too high or too tight, the term spastic is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy.
Children with spastic CP have stiff and jerky movements because their muscles are too tight. They
often have a hard time moving from one position to another or letting go of something in their hand.
This is the most common type of CP. About half of all people with CP have spastic CP.
2. Ataxic Cerebral Palsy
Low muscle tone and poor coordination of movements is described as ataxic CP. Kids with ataxic CP
look very unsteady and shaky. They have a lot of shakiness, like a tremor you might have seen in a
very old person, especially when they are trying to do something like write or turn a page or cut with
scissors. They also often have very poor balance and may be very unsteady when they walk. Because
of the shaky movements and problems coordinating their muscles, kids with ataxic CP may take
longer to finish writing or art projects.
3. Athetoid Cerebral Palsy
The term athetoid is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy when muscle tone is mixed sometimes
too high and sometimes too low. Children with athetoid CP have trouble holding

Hedonistic Treadmill Research
Thousands of kilograms of plastic enter the oceans every minute. However, consumers do not see the
severity of their consumptive lifestyles. Instead, they go to their favorite coffee shop, order a drink and
then throw away the cup once they are done. Many do not look for recycling bins, and almost all
consumers do not think about where their garbage goes after they throw it away. A majority of
consumers simply think their old coffee cups fill in a landfill, but what many do not know is that some
people consume up to 11,000 pieces of plastic a year along with their seafood (Walsh, Formanek, Loo
and Phillips). But, if this consumption has such a large impact on lives and the environment, why are
consumer not more aware? The Hedonistic Treadmill, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to a CNN report, halting the amount of plastic flowing into oceans would, require and
incredible change in the daily behavior of 7 billion people (Walsh et al.). The need for this extreme
measure did not happen overnight. This problem has grown over the course of many years, and only
continues to worsen as the Hedonistic Treadmill speeds up. This problem is so large, that it constitutes
as a market failure. Due to the impact of excessive plastic in the oceans, animals are dying, and
individuals are consuming large amounts of plastic each year. Thus, the speed of the Hedonistic
Treadmill is causing the market to fail due to its negative externalities on wildlife, the environment
and humans. However, the degree of the problem indicates that this failure, and its solutions, have not
been thoroughly

The Patriot Act was signed to help prevent another terrorist attack on the United States through many types of surveillance. Growing concerns have come out about the Patriot Act and how much power it gives to the federal government. But, the government does need to monitor the citizens to try and stop another September eleventh attack by collecting information on suspected terrorists and stopping money laundering. The September eleventh attacks killed many people in the Twin Towers. President Bush passed the United States Patriot Act to help defend the nation from another horrific attack. • 5. The Danger Of Cyber Attacks On Power Plants The danger of cyber attacks on power plants are something that needs to be looked at closely to avoid costly deadly incidents. Cybersecurity has become a vital component of our world today and it needs to evolve fast to keep up in its protection from the outside. Cybersecurity protects us from unauthorized shutdowns, break ins, financial and social ruin. We live in a world that has become completely reliant on computers for everything. They are able to cause chaos and even shutdown nuclear centrifuges, air defense systems, and electrical grids. (Hathaway, Crootof, Levitiz, Nix, Nowlan, Perdue Spiegel, 2012) Cyber attacks are more common today due to the increase capability of technology. Important information along with every aspect of people s lives are kept on computers or cell phones which are vulnerable at all times. An example of this would be the leaked snapchat photos of celebrities, stolen identities and unauthorized access from an outside computer into a power plant. In New York State we have four nuclear power plants. These nuclear power plants contribute to the economy, society and the environment. The Nuclear power plants are Entergy s Fitzpatrick in Scriba and Indian Point in Buchanan, and Exelon s Ginna in Ontario and Nine mile point in Scriba provide New York households and employers with over 5,000 megawatts (MW)of emissions free electricity and nearly 42 million megawatt hours (MWh) of annual electricity generation. • 6. The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian... The Cause that Led to the Beginning of the Peloponnesian War Ancient Greece during 4th Century BC was home to the city states of Sparta and Athens, who during this time were the superpowers of the region. The Peloponnesian war between these city states and their respective allies lasted from 431 404 BC, although conflicts between the two had dated back further. Major fighting in the war occurred from 431 421 and ended in Athenian victory. However, renewed conflict raged between 413 and 404 which resulted in Spartan victory. The Peloponnesian war between Athens and Sparta evolved from a string of events which I am going to look at to see if there was a single cause for this war. In 435 BC ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although Potidaea was a member of the Delian League, Athens and her allies, it had maintained the right to receive magistrates from its mother city every year. Tired of paying tribute to Athens and resentful of Athenian rule the citizens of Potidaea supported a revolt to expel Athenian power. Both sides sent forces to Potidaea and once again Athenians were battling with Corinthians. Due to aiding the people of Potidaea, Corinth faced an embargo by Athens which enraged Sparta. Any appeals to Athens to stop the embargo were ignored, forcing the Spartans to coviene the Peloponnesian council and lead the two cities one more step closer to war. Thucydides wrote the growth of the power of Athens and the alarm which this inspired (in Sparta) made war inevitable. This comment shows another element that contributed to the cause of the Peloponnesian war. After the Persian wars, there was a development of Athenian control when the Delian league was formed which was an alliance of cities based around Athens. Per the Journal of Clinical Sleep Medicine (JCSM), Transient Global Amnesia (TGA) is defined as a temporary memory loss characterized by an abrupt onset of anterograde (AGA) and retrograde amnesia (RA). In other words, TGA occurs when there is a sudden occurrence of both Anterograde amnesia and retrograde amnesia at the same time. As defined by the JCSM, anterograde amnesia is the acute inability to retain new information and retrograde amnesia is the significant reduction in the ability to recall past events. In studies that concentrated on how Benzodiazepines (a substance used as a sleep aid and an anti anxiety medicine) affected the quality of sleep and memory of events that happen during interrupted sleep periods. Subjects fell back asleep rather quickly, but come morning, had much trouble recalling the tasks they were given to complete earlier in the night. In studies that looked at memory between wake and sleep, researchers presented undergraduate students a verbal word as they drifted off into sleep. But of course, to ensure sleepiness the students were limited to two hours of sleep the night prior to the experiment. Researchers used an electroencephalograph (EEG), which is a tool to determine one s position in the wake to sleep cycle. Using the EEG researchers determined when their subjects were asleep then either allowed them short periods of sleep or long periods before waking them. Once their subjects were woken up, they tested their memory through recognition. Results showed that the subjects who experienced short periods of sleep did, in fact, the memory test. In contrast, the subjects that could sleep for a longer period, in this case, ten minutes, had a greater difficulty remembering the word relayed to them in the five minutes prior to them falling asleep. These results were interpreted as an interruption of the transfer of the memory from short term to long term storage. Thus, the memory was in a sense erased and was unavailable to be recalled. This difficulty is an example of RA, as has been defined, and as an example of RA being induced by interruptions in the quality of sleep. However, if subjects were aroused in any way as they drifted off to sleep and were read their words, then it could be that AGA has been induced. What this fails to conclude however is if both ... • 13. Hydraulic Fracking In The Oil And Gas Industry Introduction and Background In the oil and gas industry, fracking is a major current issue that engineers are dealing with for the current state of the United states. Hydraulic fracking, or fracking is the process of drilling a well to the depth in the earth where shale rock is located. Once the drill bit reaches this specific depth, the drilling alters its path to a horizontal track into the shale rock in order to span the entire reservoir. Next, fracking fluid, consisting of sand, liquid chemicals, and water, is injected into the shale rock at a high pressure, which cause small cracks, known as fissures, in the rock. This action allows oil and natural gas to freely escape into the pipeline. The oil and gas mixture then flows to the surface ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Also the disposal of the fracking fluid should be regulated in a non harmful way to the environment. Along with many other engineering activities, there are ignorant people that rally against fracking due to the little information they know and their refusal to research the topic before making accusations. Conclusion In conclusion, Fracking is an innovative way to extract oil and gas from shale rock. It differs from conventional drilling from the fact that deeper wells and horizontal drilling are utilized in order to produce more. There are many benefits that accompany fracking, such as increased employment and decreased cost of importation for the US because of their large reserves of shale rock. Fracking does come with some drawbacks, such as environmental issues and fresh water reserves. With future regulations of fracking, the negative environmental effects can be mitigated. Also, additional water purification systems should be implemented at fracking sites in order for excess water to be reused and not disposed. Currently, OPEC has lowered the price to $54 per barrel, which limits fracking because the breakeven price per barrel is $64 ( A key investor s guide to the crude oil market ). When Henslin stated that the family consists of two or more people, this is still true for after the divorce. Henslin gives great points when helping children adjust to divorce. The adjustment is better if (1) both parents show understanding and affection; (2) the child lives with a parent who is making a good adjustment; (3) family routines are consistent; (4) the family has adequate money for its needs; and (5) that the child lives with a parent of the same sex (466). When the parents show love and affection toward the children, their welfare is better in the long run. These examples are only of the physical and emotional changes. Let s take a look at more emotional changes that occur. These children are torn between their parent. Ever since the partition of India in 1947, when Britain dismantled its Indian empire, India and Pakistan have been archrivals. The hostility between these two has been rooted not only in religion and history, but is exemplified by the long running battle over the control of Jammu and Kashmir. The Maharaja of Kashmir at the time fled to India and offered a deal to let Kashmir be under Indian control if India would defend Kashmir from further invasion. India agreed and immediately sent out troops to fight off the Pakistani invaders. Per the agreement, the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir makes up about 45% of Kashmir. Annie Get Your Gun By Ethel Merman And Ray Middleton Anything you do, I can do better; I can do anything, better than you , in Annie Get Your Gun performed by Ethel Merman and Ray Middleton, is one of many examples that are still battled today on the topic of gender roles playing essentially to modern society. Historically, the relationship between female and male has almost always been unequal and oppressive; but, a feminist critic would aim to critique the nature of gender roles. In a feminist theory, it mainly focuses women s role as well as their social standing in a society. In today s society, women empower society to promote matriarchy whereas a female becomes the head of the family. Since the nineteenth century up until today in the twenty first century, society has made assumptions about female based on their gender. For instance, people often assume that men are strong and women are weak and that women cannot control their emotions, and that men are better at hunting, and that women belong in the kitchen. Oftentimes, books and movies can confirm such stereotypes of males as action heroes and women as housewives; however, through the characters of Katniss and Peeta in The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins tries to show her readers that these assumptions are false. Moreover, Katniss is an individual who breaks away from the typical gender stereotypes that one would assume while reading. Photosynthesis is primarily done by plants and cellular respiration is done by animals in order to gain the energy they require. The chemical process of photosynthesis involves carbon dioxide, water, and sunlight which are then turned to glucose and oxygen. Two electrons and a hydrogen ion are removed then attached to adenine forming NADH. Water is then formed using an oxygen and two hydrogen atoms. In this stage two ATP molecules are added. The linking reaction occurs in the mitochondria of the cell. NAD+ and pyruvate come together to form NADH and an acetyl enzyme. The Krebs cycle involves removing hydrogen atoms from the acetyl coenzyme in order to form four molecules of ATP. Carbon then combines with oxygen, creating carbon dioxide. It is a three dimensional puzzle originally invented and developed by Erno Rubik to serve the purpose of a mathematical aid in the 1970 s but unexpectedly evolved into what is now considered to be the world s top selling toy. Erno Rubik was a young professor teaching interior design and architecture in Hungary when he first created the object. He created an object that was not supposed to be possible. His solid cube twisted and turned and still did not break or fall apart. Rubik first invented the cube, formerly known as the Magic Cube to help explain three dimensional geometry to his students. The puzzle is in the form of a cube made up of smaller, coloured interlocking cubes that can be manipulated by twisting the horizontal and vertical planes. Initially before the cube has been manipulated each face of the cube is covered in a different colour. Meaning when you twist and turn the cube away from its original orientation the colours on each face will be jumbled. Although it has now been made apparent that every legal permutation of the Rubik s cube can be solved in 20 moves or fewer, it has been reported, the first time Rubik jumbled the cube it took him a month to solve it. John Milton begins Paradise Lost by formally stating his poem s subject: humankind s first act of disobedience toward God and the fall of humanity which followed after. The act is Adam and Eve s consumption of the forbidden fruit from the Tree of Knowledge, which is told in Genesis, the first book of the Bible. However, their actions were in response to a serpent s trickery. Vaccines And Its Effects On The Disease Before vaccines were invented, whenever an individual contracted a disease, it would easily spread to the people who were in contact with the individual. Many became carriers of the disease, resulting in an outbreak. No one was immune from the disease, thus making the vast majority a suitable host for the pathogen. In 1796, British physician Edward Jenner created the first vaccination for smallpox by applying matters of fresh cowpox lesions on an infected eight years old s hand (Riedel 2005). The fundamental principle behind vaccine is by injecting an antigen (usually a killed or weakened bacteria cell) into a host body; the antigen will imitate an infection and attack the host body. However, since the antigen is weakened or dead before being administered, it will not make the body sick. The antigen triggers the immune system to produce T lymphocytes1, B lymphocytes2 and antibodies to attack the affected cells, as though the body was infected with a disease. In the future, when the vaccinated individual encounters the disease, his or her immune system will recognize the pathogen and immediately produce the needed antibodies to fight it, preventing the individual from infected ( Understanding How Vaccines Work 2013). Immunization is one of the most effective ways to prevent the widespread of infectious disease. When the vast majority of the population is vaccinated, it results in herd immunity, a form of indirect protection against infectious disease. Vaccination decreases ... Cerebral means anything in the head and palsy refers to anything wrong with control of the muscles or joints in the body. If someone has cerebral palsy it means that because of an injury to their brain (that s the cerebral part) they are not able to use some of the muscles in their body in the normal way (that s the palsy part). Children ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Changes in muscle tone let us move. In this website I also learned that there are several types of CP. I wrote the different types below to help understand each one individually. 1. Spastic Cerebral Palsy If muscle tone is too high or too tight, the term spastic is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy. Children with spastic CP have stiff and jerky movements because their muscles are too tight. They often have a hard time moving from one position to another or letting go of something in their hand. This is the most common type of CP. About half of all people with CP have spastic CP. 2. Ataxic Cerebral Palsy Low muscle tone and poor coordination of movements is described as ataxic CP. Kids with ataxic CP look very unsteady and shaky. They have a lot of shakiness, like a tremor you might have seen in a very old person, especially when they are trying to do something like write or turn a page or cut with scissors. They also often have very poor balance and may be very unsteady when they walk. Because of the shaky movements and problems coordinating their muscles, kids with ataxic CP may take longer to finish writing or art projects. 3. Athetoid Cerebral Palsy The term athetoid is used to describe the type of cerebral palsy when muscle tone is mixed sometimes too high and sometimes too low. Children with athetoid CP have trouble holding ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Hedonistic Treadmill Research Thousands of kilograms of plastic enter the oceans every minute. However, consumers do not see the severity of their consumptive lifestyles. Instead, they go to their favorite coffee shop, order a drink and then throw away the cup once they are done. Many do not look for recycling bins, and almost all consumers do not think about where their garbage goes after they throw it away. A majority of consumers simply think their old coffee cups fill in a landfill, but what many do not know is that some people consume up to 11,000 pieces of plastic a year along with their seafood (Walsh, Formanek, Loo and Phillips). But, if this consumption has such a large impact on lives and the environment, why are consumer not more aware? The Hedonistic Treadmill, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... According to a CNN report, halting the amount of plastic flowing into oceans would, require and incredible change in the daily behavior of 7 billion people (Walsh et al.). The need for this extreme measure did not happen overnight. This problem has grown over the course of many years, and only continues to worsen as the Hedonistic Treadmill speeds up. This problem is so large, that it constitutes as a market failure. Due to the impact of excessive plastic in the oceans, animals are dying, and individuals are consuming large amounts of plastic each year. Thus, the speed of the Hedonistic Treadmill is causing the market to fail due to its negative externalities on wildlife, the environment and humans. However, the degree of the problem indicates that this failure, and its solutions, have not been thoroughly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
