The Mexica Empire against Hernan Cortes Essay
The Totonacs joined forces with Cortes against the emperor and his allies. Other neighboring towns
that resented the deplorable Aztec hegemony stopped paying tribute as a gesture of support for the
Spanish. As a response, those in power at TenochtitlГЎn sent forces to Cempoala to punish the
defiance but the Spanish with newly acquired allies defeated the advancing army (Castillo). It was
here at Cempoala that the Spanish would meet the Tlaxcalans for the very first time, prompting a
standoff between the two. Openly opposing the Mexica empire, the Tlaxcalans were a force to be
reckoned with since they had twice prevented Aztecdomination (Portilla) and were suspicious of
the Spanish at first especially when the conquistadors accepted... Show more content on

The conquistadors defeated the warriors of the Mexica empire due to a number of reasons that
not only pertain to the weapons they possessed. Interestingly enough, all the steel and horses
contributed to the physical aspect of war but on a psycho social level, it was the Aztecs varying
conception of warfare that led to Spanish victory. Conquistadors were taught to fight to the death
and move on to the next one while the Aztecs would focus a large amount of energy to capturing
and taking prisoners (Brandt). Whether it was for personal reasons or the desire for human
sacrifice, this concept impeded their chances of winning battles. Isolation can be noted as a small
factor as well since the Aztecs kept their empire confined to the continent and never branched out to
discover new technology.
The Spanish on the other hand had a very strong background in exploration with ties to naval and
advanced military tactics. These men were cogs in a powerful war machine that was the reason
Charles V had so much land and power. With exploration comes new discovery such as new
weapons and advancements in warfare. In every way possible, Spanish military dominance
consisting of steel, cavalry, and gunpowder was underlying reason the natives never stood a chance.
Toledo steel fashioned into swords, spears, and pikes were the bread and butter of the

Reflection Paper About Sex
1)Loving your body and yourself
Someone can only love you if you love yourself. This class made me retake drawing. One exercise
presented in class was to do someone you are good at to help build confidence. I loved drawing
portrait but for some reason I stopped once I started dating my boyfriend of 3 years. I now starting
to bring that hobbies back up and its making me love myself stronger again. In one of our NPR,
students also reviews media and its harmful effects on female body image. I am a healthy BMI
but I constantly think I am not skinny enough, which is disappointing. I decided to unfollow the
girls that made me insecure online on apps such as Instagram and twitter. I follow more body
positive accounts. I found a love for fitness and health and I decided I want to feel better rather
than look skinner. It made a world of difference being in the class and learning that loving yourself
was not as hard as I expected.
2)Understanding sexual activity through the years
This topic took me by surprise. I don t live with older adults, only my parents. I have never had a
grandmother to talk to so I just never thought of the idea of growing old with someone. Research
from NSSHB 2010, shows that people between the ages of 18 29 have sex on average of 112
times per year, while adults 40 49 have sex around 69 times a year. This study shows that 3 percent
of married women reported that they had never had sex in the past year. I find this information
important because lowering of

The Impact Of Mmp On New Zealand
Since MMP has been implemented into New Zealand, it has allowed for a wider diversity of
parties to be in parliament. On account of that, while it is still possible for a party to win the
majority seats in parliament, it is very difficult to do so; Church (2015) states that this has not
happened in the last four elections. As a result, MMP has impacted on the relationship between the
executive and parliament by making the executive to make arrangements between themselves and
minor parties, in order to stay in power. This is also for the executive to be able to pass votes of
confidence and supply, as well as get potential Bills that they want implemented, to be passed
through parliament. Since 2008, John Key, Prime Ministerand leader of the National party has had
enhanced confidence and supply arrangements with minor parties, consisting of United Future,
ACT and Maori party, in order to stay in the executive. An enhanced confidence and supply
arrangement, is when the minor parties are appointed ministerial posts outside of cabinet, and only
be bound by cabinet responsibility when it involves their portfolio or have been involved in an
development of policy that ended with an agreed position. As Boston and Bullock (2009) note,
these enhanced arrangement is very unusual, as New Zealandis the only country to have these in
politics. Sweden has experimented with similar arrangements, termed contract parliamentarians,
however it did not include members of non government

Knee Joint Research Paper
The Knee Joint (tibiofemoral joint) is a bicondylar synovial joint named a hinge joint, which
permits flexion and extension with a slight degree of medial and lateral rotation. The joint is
formed by the two articulations between the femur, tibia and patella. The joint consists of two
articulations. The Tibiofemoral, which is, the medial and lateral condyles of the femur that
articulate with the tibial condyles. The second being the Patellofemoral, which is, the anterior and
distal section of the femur which articulates with the patella. The tibiofemoral jointis referred to as
the weight bearing joint of the knee. Whereas the patellofemoral joint allows for the tendon of the

The knee has two collateral ligaments, which are strap like ligaments, that stabilises the hinge
motion of the knee to prevent excess medial and lateral movement. The Tibial (medial) collateral
ligament originates on the medial side of the joint. It attaches to the medial side of the tibia to
prevent forces applied to the lateral side of the knee from moving the knee medially. The Fibular
(lateral) ligament is a thin and rounder ligament that attaches laterally to the epicondyle of the
femur to the fibular head. The knee joint has two internal ligaments, the anterior and posterior
cruciate ligaments which contribute to maintain the proper alignment of the knee. The anterior
cruciate ligament attaches to the anterior intercondylar region of the tibia where it mergers with the
medial meniscus. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), located behind the ACL, which extends
obliquely from the surface of the medial condyle of the femur to the posterior intercondylar space of
the tibia. The PCL prevents the posterior dislocation of the tibia onto the femur. The medial and
lateral menisci are fibrocartilage structures in the knee that, protect and cushion the joint surface
and bone ends and increases stability of the joint. They are C shaped in appearance and attach at
both ends of the intercondylar

Designing A Well Secure Solution
Comprehensive and Secure Solution In order to design and construct a well secured network, many
features must be taken into consideration, such as the topology and placement of hosts within the
network, the selection of hardware and software technologies, and the successful arrangement of
each component. I will discuss securing a LAN from the viewpoint of the network architect
considering two main areas: the network topologywhich comprises the physical and logical design
of the network; and securing the routers and switches which connect segments and hosts to form
the network.
Initial Assumptions and Challenges
Finding some of the best practices and examining some of the security issues found in small to
medium sized networks is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Topology and Architecture
Topology is the arrangement of the various elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a computer network.
Essentially, it is the structure of a network and may be depicted physically or logically. On the
physical side, a network needs provide distribution to the offices or buildings where the users are
located.
In laying out the logical topology we need to consider the arrangement of devices on the network.
The way data is moved across the network may include which groups of users and devices should
be grouped alongside which parts of the network are trusted. The diagram below lays out the
proposed network design. The design includes one router connected to the internet, a core router, a
firewall, an intranet switch, three workgroup switches, multiple workstations, and servers. If the
business wanted to consider more advanced management of the network from an IT perspective
we propose adding a few management workstations and servers as well as setting up a
management VLAN (virtual LAN). The management VLAN will operate on a separate VLAN
from the regular user traffic.
Security
A hacker looks for poorly configured network devices. Common vulnerabilities include information
gathering, sniffing, spoofing, and denial of service. As you see in our diagram, we propose to
implement several points of protection,

Nike
SHORT CASE SUMMARY Nike, Inc. (503 671 6453, www.nike.com) is the worlds #1 athletic
shoe and apparel seller. Nike currently employs 20,700 employees, with total sales of $8.78
billion. Nike and the athletic shoe industry have evolved into one of the most competitive market
in recent years. But, analysts believe that athletic shoe sales will slow down over the next few
years. The slowdown will come with the change in consumer trends. For instance, the younger
market is beginning to buy more casual shoes and work boots. Another reason for the slowdown is
that people are buying more medium priced athletic shoes and not going for the high pricebrand
name shoes. As a result, this is bringing Nikea lot more competition to surpass. In order... Show

Carburetor Essay
FUEL INJECTION
A fuel injector is a device or technology that introduces the fuel into the combustion unit of an
internal combustion engine. It is an alternative method to carburetor. Fuel is injected into the
cylinder where combustion happen. In order to burn , fuel must be vaporized to be and make sure
the air at correct ratio . This job can be performed by either a carburetor or a fuel injection system.
If there is not enough fuel mixed with the air, the engine runs lean and either will not run or
damages the engine.
How fuel injector is better than carburetor
In new cars, fuel injection is becoming universal because it provides a better fuel efficiency and
much lower emissions
Carburetor is used in older cars , but it is still used in machines like lawnmovers and chainsaw
First take a look at carburetor
The carburetor has been the device that supplied fuel to the engine . It uses in older cars and simple
machines likelawnmover and chainsaw . But carburetor got complicated to handle different tasks .
The carburetor has 5 different circuit
пѓ Main circuit Provides just enough fuel for fuel efficient cruising
пѓ Idle circuit Pr0vides just enough fuel t0 keep the engine idling
пѓ Accelerator pump Provides an extra burst of fuel when the accelerator pedal is first depressed,
reducing hesitation before the engine speeds up
пѓ Power enrichment circuit Provides extra fuel when

Industrialization During The Late Abraham Lincoln
America is the great exception where people can be born of humble origins and rise to the top to
become the next Abraham Lincoln (Pettengill). However, in the Early Republic things began to
change and industrialization created a huge gap between the rich and the poor and made it hard to
rise to the top. Industrialization changed America from an agricultural country to one based on
manufacturing goods and services. This change created advancement and expansion for the nation
as a whole. Industrialization was very helpful to the economy but was an impediment for the
working class, like Sam Patch. In the book, Sam Patch by Paul E. Johnson, it is evident how
industrialization restricted the freedom of the working class and increased the great divide between
the rich and the poor.
The industrial revolution limited the amount of jobs available and created many unskilled labor
jobs. Free labor economy made it possible for skilled workers to make money by independently
selling their products. Industrial engineers found a way to build machines that were faster, more
powerful, more efficient and more reliable than the human muscle. As seen in The American
System of Manufacturers, Joseph Whitworth stated, the laboring class are comparatively few in
number, but this is counter balanced by, and indeed may be regarded as one of the chief causes of,
the eagerness with which they call in the aid of machinery in almost every department of industry
(Whitworth 226) This machinery slowly

Gender wage gap is the one type of discrimination that has received the most outcry. Wage gap
affects women of all races, especially African Americans and Hispanics. Your mother, your

wage gap affects everyone because it tell you that we all live in a society that judges someone s
worth based on thier sex and not their ability and qualifications. Hispanics and Latinos are paid
55 cents to an average man s dollar, an African American woman is paid 60 cents, a white
woman 77 cents to every man s dollar. Gender wage gap does not only focus on paying women
less but paying women that are minorities way less. This is a social problem that began years

Analysis Of Diving Into The Wreck By Adrienne Rich
Is it possible for words on a page to become a painting in the mind? After plunging into Adrienne
Rich s Diving into the Wreck, it is apparent that words on a page can come to life in the mind of
the readers. Rich uses a vast amount of describing words, and a setting of a scuba diver to allow
readers the ability to acknowledge and understand the difficulties life may imply upon humankind.
Throughout the next few paragraphs, it is evident that certain elements of poems can become a
large factor in allowing the reader to get more out of a poem, rather than just words on a page. In
summary, Adrienne Rich gives the reader a depiction of a person dealing with one or even many
difficult intricacies in life through the symbolization of scuba divingin a large body of water (Mays,
2014, p.581). Whether that be national issues, personal relationships, the death of those close by,
or even more personal issues, the reader is able to relate with Rich s symbolization of a scuba
diver getting ready for an intense journey through a large, dark body of water. Scuba diving into a
shipwreckis an abstract way to relate the thoughts people bottle up inside their bodies into a larger,
more meaningful picture, which allows the reader to understand how issues weigh on the mind. In
addition, Rich doesn t just use simple words to create a symbolization, she precedes or follows
those words with meaningful adjectives which help to create a clearer appearance for the reader to
imagine. In the

Importance Of High School Football
Being a high school football player is difficult at times, but student athletes can make this very
easy if they want it to be. I played high school football all four years, and it was easy to me
because I played with my teammates in middle school too. Because of that, my team trusted each
other and depended on each other during the game of football. My football team was on its way to
a state championship because we came together, did our assignments in the game and worked hard
everyday in practice. Coming together was very easy for us since we played on the middle school
team. We had spring and summer workouts and practices every year. During the spring, we got
together and tuned in our plays that we ran from the previous year. During the summer the team
had to spend the night in the gym and wake up at five o clock in the morning to get ready for
practice. The team got to spend even more time together, and spending the night in the gym
made us come together more. I was quarterback, so I was the leader of the team, so the had to
look up to me. I was already friends with everyone on the team, so I knew I had their trust. I still
had to do my job though. I had to make every hand off and throw count. As quarterback, I spent
my time with the receivers a lot. Throwing down the field to the receiver for the first time that
year was spot on. When he caught the ball; I ran down the field and celebrated with him after he
scored. Have you ever wondered how much pressure you would

Growing up and being the youngest of three girls means a great deal of dress up, makeovers, tea

manners, to modesty and responsibility, they have enforced it all. However, when I wasn t running
around with my family having a blast, I would have one of my parents throw in a Disney movie so
all of us could sit around and watch it together. Surprisingly, through all the Disney movies we ever

Marlin s Determination In The Movie Grit
There are many characters that display different levels of Grit throughout the course of the movie.
However between the father son relationship, Marlin wins the Grit prize because he proves that it
is possible to overcome a traumatic experience and although it was extremely difficult he got to
the point where he was able to become vulnerable again. He was real and expressed understandable
apprehension in situations that he had no control over. He truly deserves the credit because unlike
most of the other characters, he has been through a horrific ordeal. Although it is gradual and with

Because of his naiveness he is much more inclined to charge into things that might other wise seem
dangerous.
One gritty characteristic that Nemo and his dad share by the end, is their determination. As I
mentioned in my Grit definition essay, this is the Grit that propels us forward to take risks and
helps us bounce back after rejection, failure, and in Marlin s case, loss. Marlin s determination
undergoes major development throughout the movie. But by the time Marlin wiggles his way out
of a pelicans throat, it is clear that Marlin is determined to find his son at any cost.
Nemo always displays quite a bit of determination although at first it is misconstrued as being
headstrong or willful. Upon hearing the encouraging news of his father s search for him, he
executes an especially daring feat with a sudden rejuvenated burst of determination. He displays
even more determination to be reunited with his father by pulling of a clever act that lands him in
the sewer and on his way to the ocean to find his father. Here Nemo showed another gritty trait
known as resilience. In the Perlis article, 5 Characteristics Of Grit: How Many Do You Have?, she
states Andrew Zolli s opinion on resilience which to him is, a dynamic combination of optimism,
creativity, and confidence, which together empower one to reappraise situations and regulate
emotion. (...

Examine the main characteristics of both visions and conversion experiences [30 marks]
Visions and conversions are both a type of religious experience it s a subjective experience where
an individual reports contact with a supernatural reality, an encounter or union with the divine,
Religious experiences are preoccupied by extraordinary psychological state and no one can give
real evidence about it.
According to William James, a 20th century philosopher; every religious experience has four
characteristics. Ineffability, meaning that these experiences can t be expressed or it is challenging
to express them; people often gain an insight or they learn something from the experience of how to
carry on with their life. Transiency,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An intellectual vision causes the person to become aware of an abstract concept such as the grace
of God a numinous experience. These are often followed by a sense of inner peace or a call toward
religious life.
A conversion experience is one in which the goal is to change one set of beliefs. This process is
called a double action; this is because one must turn away from a previous lifestyle and turn to a
new state of being. The development of conversion can be a sudden experience or a gradual one
and the end result is usually a greater understanding of faith. People may convert for several
reasons; It may be about years of searching for a spiritual home, or about a moment of inspiration
that has caught them by surprise; sometimes it involves the pain of breaking away from a
previous path, a sense of loneliness and wrestling with doubt. Some may say that a conversion
takes place when one s identity is perceived to be inadequate and so they move to being in a state
when adequacy is met, and the knew life they start is a holy one. There are four main stages
identified which can lead to a conversion experience; a prior interest in religious questions and
other related issues, the influence of other cases of conversion, a situation which may involve
physical and emotional upset, and the moment of conversion which brings about a radical change
in feeling and outlook of the persons life. There

CRITICAL THINKING; CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWOK

Theme Of The Last Death
THE LAST LEAF THEMES SACRIFICE: Sacrifice is one of the most important themes in this
story. This theme is depicted by Behrman as he risks his life for Johnsy. When he finds out
about Johnsy s illness and her pessimism that she will die once the last leaf falls, he decided to
help her. So, he gets out in that terrible cold weather in the middle of the night to paint an ivy
leaf on the wall. As a result he himself catches the Pneumonia and dies. So in this way the self
sacrificing nature of Mr. Behrman is shown in the story. FRIENDSHIP: Friendship is also one
of the important themes in this story. The love and affection between two friends i.e. Johnsy and
Sue is shown in the story. Sue takes good care of Johnsy when she falls ill. At that time Johnsy
was pessimistic and was convinced that she will die once the last leaf falls but Sue supports her

Dr Caligari Close Up
The silent film The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920), is a German expressionist film. The film
illustrates subjectivity, an askew world and expression through its sets, costumes, shots, editing, and
acting. Film theorist Mungsterberg s main idea is that the film overcomes reality through
manipulation and transformation of space, time, and causality. In addition, Mungsterberg
emphasizes that the form of the filmshould match the content to create unity. Similarly, theorist
Balazs main point is how close up s help transform reality in relation to quality and expression. He
highlights the importance of how close ups reveal the most visual details of life, which portray
emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts. Mungsterberg s assessment of The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari

Caligari would be that the film transforms reality due to the amount of close up s used to evoke
emotion, mood, intentions, and thoughts. Balazs states that The close ups of the film are the
creative instruments of this might visual anthropomorphism (Balazs 119). Balazs basically
explains how the close up gives the viewer a new perspective of reality through the close up.
Plus, the close up shows us things we cannot see like: human characteristics, behaviors and objects
in detail to demonstrate power and emotion. For example, in The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari when
Cesare tells Alan that he is only going to live until dawn there is a close up of Alan s face showing
extreme terror. This creates an emphasis on human emotions and behaviors which helps the viewer
relate and possibly identify with the character. Also the close up in this example helps the audience
understand the dramatic scene that is unfolding through the expression of the character. To sum up,
Balazs would agree that The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari transforms reality through the use of close ups
by illustrating emotions and behaviors that the viewer cannot see through a medium or wide

United Airlines Stakeholders Essay
Another stakeholder involved was the customers using United Airlines because they deserved to
know what was occurring between the ex CEO and Samson. Also, the workers were a stakeholder
as well in this situation. There are plenty of cities around the United States that do not offer
airfare. As a result, when customers hear that there was a customized flight for Samson this can
make them distraught and angry at United. Also, they can possibly lose business as well because
customers feel they are not the main priority in United s business plan. According to Bergen
Record, the flight from Newark to Columbia ranked in the bottom 3 percent of all commercial

For instance, United created a new flight for Samson. However, no one ever knew that was the
exact reason why until all the allegations came out. The ex CEO effortlessly could have said he
wanted to experiment with a new flight with no justification besides saying that he was testing
the flight out for business reasons. Thus, that is how airlines test if certain cities will create
enough revenue to keep that flight going. In United Airlines case they exercised their ability to
create new flights in their own favor. Companies that can exercise that same ability can be
creating deals with businessmen in exchange for an accessible flight that is convenient for them.
Today, traveling is essesstial to get from one meeting to the next. Therefore, businessmen are
always looking for an edge to get to meetings quicker than usual. Overall, it is alarming because it
is illegal and could be dangerous for business. For instance, if someone in power asks an airline to
cut business with a certain town in return for something the airline could find useful than it will be
unethical for this to be done. Obviously, most airlines do not go to this extreme to bend the law.
However, there are always outliers in a group who will try to create a competitive advantage
anyway possible. Therefore, businessmen need to act ethical so they do not get caught in a
situation like one the

Comparing An Irish Airman Foresees His Death by WB Yeats...
Comparing An Irish Airman Foresees His Death by WB Yeats and Anthem for Doomed Youth by
Wilfred Owen
WB Yeats was an extremely successful Irish poet who was extraordinarily patriotic and proud to be
Irish. He played his part in the Irish Renaissance at the beginning of the 1900s. Although he was a
proud Irishman he chose to show his patriotism through his poetry instead of political or military
action. Through his poems he spoke of national heroes bravery and well doings instead of their
political status or where they stood in society. He praised people who did things for a cause or
beliefs; for example he described the Easter Rising as a terrible beauty . WB Yeats scarcely wrote

He became more of a passivist after this meeting. This was evident in many of his poems and his
abhorrence of war became stronger. Owen used his first hand trench experiences to portray war
as pointless and a waste of life and his newly adopted passivist attitude helped this along. Many
times these statements showed bitterness and hatred towards the authorities and people sending
this Youth off to war to die. In one of his poems he tries to show the reader that if they had seen
what he had, they would not speak of the glory of dying for your country, as he believed there was
none. He was killed by machine gun fire just a month after being awarded the Military Cross.
Whereas Anthem for Doomed Youth outlines his opinion that deaths in war are for a meaningless
cause and the soldiers may as well be cattle dying, as he describes in the first line. He continually
compares death in war with a normal death, which is accompanied by a funeral and other rituals.
He lists all the things that soldiers lack when they die bells, prayers, mourning, candles etc and all
they hear or receive is the continual stuttering rifle s rapid rattle , monstrous anger of the guns and
demented choirs of wailing shells . The message of this poem is that war causes immeasurable loss

understandings in the family system of cybernetics and the influence of feedback that loops
both positive and negative which occur during therapy. Such influence allows for members of a
family to function in a set pattern and maintaining said pattern as a priority. In this class, we
have learned how leaders in our field cultivated this information and produced systemic, process

These two theories offer prescribed ways for us as therapist to help a family or client move from

regions busiest for the foreseeable future without the need for relocation or the building of another
airport when passenger figures increased. The area was chosen near to Dubai, to attract passengers
from the city of Dubai rather than travel to the busier Sharjah International Airport. The planned
location originally was Jebel Ali. The original masterplan for the existing airport initially involved a
dual terminal and one runway configuration over two phases with provisions for another two
passenger terminals in the near future. Phase 1 included the construction for the first passenger
terminal, the first runway, 70 aircraft parking bays, support facilities and structures, including a
large maintenance hangar, the first fire station, workshops and administrative offices, an airfreight
complex, two cargo agents buildings, in flight catering kitchen and a 285ft control tower.
Construction for the second phase would commence immediately after the completion of Phase 1
and include the second runway, 50 new aircraft parking bays in addition to the existing 70 bays, a
second fire station and a third cargo agent building.
The third phase included construction of a new terminal (now the parts of Terminal 1 s main

Chinese Politics And Comparative Communist Systems Essay
A Party State exists when the party and the state are interconnected within the state s leadership,
organizations, and society from the top down. Sujian Guo states in his book Chinese Politics in
Comparative Communist Systems, The existence of the party state and the blending of the political
and administrative functions is one of the distinctive characteristics of the communist system world
wide (Guo 9). These Party State Relations occur in all communist countries. There are many key
features of Party State Relations. Firstly, the members of the controlling party (China Communist
Party) have a key role in political decisions. The party holds major influence in major political
appointments, promotions, and dismissals of the members of the legislature, the state
administration, and the judiciary. This influence allows the party to maintain control over the goals
and actions of the government and to ensure that they aligned with that of the controlling party.
Another key feature of the Party State relations is that the parties infiltration of the government
allows them to make decisions in all of the state affairs and institutions because they are led by the
party leaders. The Party State has officials covering all areas of the government, such as; ministers,
state presidents, presidents of parliament and judiciary, officers in the military, the police, etc. The

Character Analysis Of Ready Player One By Ernest Cline
In the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, the main character, Wade, changes throughout the
book. This is due to the experiences with trying to get the answer to the puzzles with some of these
being his living quarters and then getting thrown into jail.
In the beginning of the book, Wade is a more selfish type of person and he has to fend for
himself due to his background and home life. At the start, he came from a poor family so he had
to be resourceful. He showed us that he ...was curled up in an old sleeping bag in the corner of
the trailer s tiny laundry room, wedged into the gap between the wall and the dryer (Cline 13).
The main character, Wade, was forced to sleep in the laundry room due to how overcrowdedness
of the stack he was in. Even though he had a large amount of his family living in the same small
apartment with him, he was still able to make room for himself. He made a small spot for
himself to be comfortable in. This sets up how many people are in that small area and adds to
the loss that will come later in the story and that will play a part in changing him. He also was a
very determined person. He was sometimes obsessive with the ways he studied the life of
Halliday. He states that For the past five years, I d devoted all my free time to learning as much
as I possibly could about James Halliday (Cline 52). Wade was obsessed with the hunt and spent a
large part of a long while studying everything that the creator of the OASIS had loved in his life.

Toyota Production System Overview
The concept of Lean Manufacturing gets is roots from car manufacturing in the early 1930s and

Ford, modern day Lean Manufacturing was developed by Taiichi Ohno of Toyota Motor Company
after World War II as a result of the diverse market conditions the company faced.

Just as with Lean Manufacturing, Lean Construction focuses on establishing value, as defined by
the customer, it with the goal of constructing a product that delivers on that value. Thus, value must
come before planning and design. (Mohammed).
Principle 2: Identify and Map Value Stream
In Lean Manufacturing the value stream identifies the necessary steps for developing and creating a
product that is valuable from the customer s perspective. In other words, the value stream
determines how and when decisions are made in the production process.
Lean Construction uses a similar technique called value stream mapping, as known as process
mapping, to understand how a construction project will be designed, supplied, and built. Hence, this
is where the planning and design aspects mentioned in the above section, come into play. Typical
Lean Construction value stream maps consist of the following:
Problem solving tasks: ranging from concept through detailed design and engineering to production
launch.
Information management tasks: ranging from order taking through detailed scheduling to delivery.
Physical transformation tasks: ranging from raw materials to producing finished products that get
delivered into the hands of the customer.
As demonstrated above, these mapping techniques highlight how the construction plan, design,

Relational Cultural Theory Of Mother Daughter Relationships
Jordan (2011) writes about the application of relational cultural theory to mother daughter
relationships. Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child relationship continually
changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help children rework empathic failures and
acute disconnections to question the absolute certainty of poor mothering. There were several
statements that Jordan (2011) argued that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book
chapter mentions that immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this
can affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of a
connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship.
The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose support of an
extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can verify this my parents left
their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The only extended family I have in the United
States are one aunt, one uncle, and two cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The
impact of moving to a different country far from other family has great consequences. As far as I
know, my parents have few connections to other adults who understand their cultural background,
and as a result have no way of knowing if they are integrating their parenting beliefs appropriately
with the surrounding American culture. In addition, I have not

and movies. Unlike most historians of the day, when he conducts research he emerges himself as
if he were the subject himself. Subsequently, his methods have created a very successful writing
career since the late 1960s. In short, nearly all of his works have been praised by the public and
two of his major works, biographies of John Adamsand Harry Truman earned a Pulitzer, two

about the honor it is to be presenting at the Jefferson Lecture, McCullough first shifts his attention

The Importance Of The Protestant Reformation
When I think of the Protestant Reformation, the first thing that comes to mind is the
Augsburg Confession. The protestant reformation can be defined as the 16th century religious,
political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the
structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. The augsburg confession is
the foremost confession of faith for the Lutheran Church. It was written by Phillip Melanchton and
presented to Charles V on June 25, 1530. The main goal of this confession was to restore religious
and political unity. There are also many reasons why the augsburg confession ties into this and
reveals its importance throughout history.
There are 28 articles included in the confession but we are going to focus on the first four: God, the
original sin, Christ and justification. The first article that the augsburg confession reveals is God.
The church was a major component to the way of life in this era, so they had copious amounts of
control over people and the consequences based on betrayal. The churches were based on catholic
views and the aspects of their beliefs could be supplemented by leaders that wanted to extend their
power and control the church. The goal of the protestant reformation was to change those views that
the churches were claiming to be the right way to do things. In the augsburg confession it outlines

Aker s Social Learning Theory In Weather Underground
There are various different theories that have been applied to what has caused crime, including:
biological, psychological, control and plenty of more. However, similar to all other behaviors,
crime could be learned. Every feature of person, criminal or noncriminal, could be learned from
the type of environment a person grew up in or their interests. For instance, a person s interests
could be learned by the type of music they listen to and the artist s message or the types movies
they watch, including violent ones. Out of the several diverse theories given, Aker s social learning
theory fits best with the film, Weather Underground. The social learning theoryconsists of four
different concepts, which are differential association, definitions, differential reinforcement, and
imitation. From the four concepts, only two will be discussed. The first idea would be differential
association and this is the process by which a person is exposed to normative definitions favorable
or unfavorable to illegal behavior(Bernard, Snipes, Gerould, 2016, p.199). Within differential
association, there are two different groups that this concept applies to. One group focuses on the
primary groups, who are family and friends, and the other group is secondary groups, which is
based on church, school and the media. The second idea would be imitation and this is the
engagement of behavior after the observation of similar behavior in others. Imitation could be
through prosocial or deviant

Child Custody Analysis
In child custody cases, the legal field approves the methods used by psychologists, yet argues that
psychologists must understand that lawyers are trained to work in an adversarial system in which
their role is to advocate the client s best interests (Lee, Beauregard, Hunsley, 1998, p.118). With
that being said, lawyers in child custody cases are supportive and even encourage psychological
involvement in the determination of the child s best interests, yet also argue that it is essential for
them to have some knowledge of familylaw. The main purpose of a lawyer is to defend his client
regarding of what psychologists have to say. However, they still have a word about the methods
used in custody evaluation (Lee et al., 1998,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to determine if an expert testimony is accepted in court, the judge refers to the Daubert
criteria, which is constituted of four criteria that determine if an evidence is reliable (Pozzulo,

even if they do not follow any ethical guidance. He states that psychologist should conduct a
neutral child evaluation and that they have to do it right or don t do it at all (Ackerman, 2010, p.

Median Voter Theorem Essay
Question 1: The most central prediction in the median voter theorem is that the voters opinion is
on a linear spectrum, while this is quite applicable in the US it is often not case in many other
countries as the two party system is not as prevalent. The theorem also predicts that voters see their
utility as single peak spectrum, with only their most preferred utility at the top (The Median Voter
Theorem and its Applications, Joshua Poulette, p. 2). These two are very central in determining the
efficacy of the median voter theorem and must always be true for it to be accurate. It is basically
based around the assumption that all voters have a one highest priority, and that they are given two
options when votingon a single issue at a time. Also, that there are no ideological or financial
pressure or incentive in play, while... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, while consensual polyamorous relationships are not illegal in the US, there is no
recourse for people who which marry two or more of their significant others. Essentially
polygamous matrimony is currently illegal in the US. Putting this to the test of Dworkin s
conditions for justifiable paternalism requires checking it with a lot of parameters. Firstly, I
would say this is very much a moral question that is mostly reliant on how the people voting and
legislating the issue regard their ideology and religion. This also makes it an example of impure
paternalism, since the people deciding this can have a skewed opinion given their personal bias.
Seeing as this does not affect anyone but the people involved it has truly no effect on society at
large, apart from the need to draw up some new laws regarding legal issues and taxation for
polygamous unions, I cannot see any reason for this being up to the individuals

Becoming A Law Enforcement Officer Essay
The decision to become a law enforcement officer came to me around age eighteen. Since then,
my behavior has been appropriate, and of high standard. However, I did a few things during my
teenage years that I am not proud of. When I was fifteen I stole an MP3 player from another
student at my high school and then shoplifted a pair of earphones from a local Walmart. A year
later I shoplifted a pack of condoms from the same Walmart. These events have been haunting me
ever since, and have changed the way I look at things compared to when I was a teenage kid. I
was attending Kofa High Schoolthe first time I stole something of value. It was during class, we
had just gone out of the classroom as a group and for some reason I went back into the class to
grab something out of my backpack. When I was leaving the room I saw the MP3 player on a
mesh pocket on one of the backpacks. I thought to myself for a... Show more content on

At age sixteen my girlfriend and I were beginning to want to have sex. I knew I needed to wear
protection, for I thought that she would get pregnant if we did anything more than kiss. At that
age I thought I was ready for sex; however, I was not ready to go up to the cash register to pay for
condoms. The thought of paying for condoms filled me with dread, especially because I wasn t
sure on their policies of selling condoms to minors. It sounds ignorant to me now, but the teenage
me was not sure about the legality of buying condoms at age sixteen and the thought of being the
center of attention at the cash register was just dreadful. I knew I definitely needed protection
but I was too scared to buy it, so I took three condoms out of a pack and walked out of the store
with the condoms in my pocket. Just like with the earphones, I went back to Walmart years later,
bought a pack of condoms, and then left them behind. I know it doesn t make up for what I did,

The author talks about today s world events, from the political and economic standpoints. He
states that soccer is the globalized medium that seems to lend itself to the effect that is has on
the society as a whole. In the first point Foer tries to explain How soccer explains the gangster
paradise . In this chapter, on example Red Star Belgrade, he s explains how work the soccer gangs.

is nothing going on and try not to attract attention to them. The fans of Barcelona on the other
hand, think they are better than everyone else and try to bring up the past and resentment that is
not there. It has to do with the position there are in and what they have been taught and how they
have been seen. But this is all better said in the words by Foer, You could love your country even

Capuchin Monkeys
1) Introduction: Capuchin Monkeys are found in the neotropical forests of Central America.
Animal Diversity Web states that the Capuchins have, one of the widest ranges of all New World
Monkeys. Capuchin Monkeys are easily adaptable to many different habitats. They can live in a
variety of forest types, both wet and dry. The University of Wisconsin PrimateResearch Center
notes that, All Capuchins live in dense habitats. They are arboreal and usually sleep on a branch.
This being said they can survive in an abundance of areas because of their some special features.
These features include strong gripping hands and a grasping tail, giving these monkeys have a

Then they proceed to slam the rock (as a tool) on the nut to crack it open. Onekind.org mentions
that the Capuchins will collect their palm nuts and then transfer them to the anvils for the
purpose of cracking them open easier. The use of the anvil is another example of the Capuchin
tool use. The Capuchins ability to think ahead and bring the nuts to the anvil show a very
skilled way of thinking in regards to these tools. A third example of tool use in Capuchins is
their use of sticks. Onekind.org says, capuchins readily insert a stick into a tube containing
viscous food that clings to the stick, which they then extract and lick. The Capuchins will then
use the stick for other things; once they have a tool they seem to use it for as much as possible,
finding multiple different uses for it. They will use these sticks to get their prey out from tiny
spaces and also as, a rake to sweep objects or food toward themselves.
3) Captive Capuchins The Journal of Comparative Psychology has one of Fragaszy s studies where
the Capuchins were studied in labs to try and find food hidden under cups. The first example of this
is called matching to sample. There was a small stair set with two tiers; the bottom containing two
different sized cups and the top tier having one cup matching one of the bottom two. The
experimenter would (out of the monkeys view) put the food under the cup on the bottom tier that
matched that of the top tier. The Capuchins then had

The Influences Of C. G. Jung
The Influences of C. G. Jung Carl Gustav Jung II was a psychiatrist whose theories of the mind
challenged the existing dogma. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche,
and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert
and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many
basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were
not conceived without external insight. Social, economic, and cultural influences upon Carl Jung
greatly affected his lifetime achievements and provided inspiration for many of his theories. Born
Carl Gustav Jung II on July 26, 1875, to Emilie Preiswerk and the pastor Paul Jung in Kesswil,
Switzerland, he was not without a notable ancestral background. Jung s paternal grandfather, Dr.
Med. Karl Gustav Jung I, an expatriate from Germany who engaged in liberal political agitation,
drew fame to himself upon moving to Switzerland when he reformed the University of Basel,
established moderate wealth, and participated in local government. (Bair 7 8). Carl Jung s
maternity was no less distinguished in its own right; both of Emilie Preiswerk s parents were
favorably regarded in their own community, though both were intensely superstitious, ascribing
mystical causes to their frequent visions, which were peculiar to the Preiswerk family. The
hereditary nature of these visions accounts for a set of Jung s

`` The Birthmark `` By Nathanial Hawthorne
Nathanial Hawthorne writes a compelling story about a recently married scientist whose wife has a
blemish on her cheek. The Birthmark written in 1843 is a critique of domesticity, feminine
sexuality, and perfectionism. Cindy Weinstein takes the stance that The Birthmark is a critique of
feminine sexuality. Weinstein suggests, A key reason, then, that Aylmer wants to erase the
birthmark is that it signifies a sexuality with which he is deeply uncomfortable (123). This
argument is seen throughout Hawthorne s story, but Weinstein s argument can be taken a step
further to deal with the root cause, control. Aylmer is disturbed with Georgiana s birthmark due to
the fact that it signifies her sexual desires that he is unable to control.
Aylmer realizes that Georgiana s birthmark is troubling soon after their marriageand intercourse
together. Not a single man in Georgiana s previous relationships has had a problem with her
birthmark, but now that she has had sexual intercourse, Aylmer cannot stop having thoughts about
her birthmark. Hawthorne writes, After his marriage, for he thought little or nothing of the matter
before, Aylmer discovered that this was the case with himself (1). After their intercourse together,
Aylmer unlocks her suppressed feminine sexuality. When he begins to realize she also has the
desires, he is uncomfortable because it defies the culture belief that women do not have these
perverse thoughts. As soon as Georgiana lost her purity, Aylmer

Global Warming Is The Environmental And Social Changes...
Overview
Global warming are the environmental and social changes caused by human emissions of
greenhouse gases. Human activities have been the primary cause of this significant change,
resulting with extreme weather conditions, increasing sea level, and climate changes. In this paper I
will compare and contrast natural versus anthropogenic climate changes of global warming,
mitigation strategies, mitigation effectiveness, policy implications, costs, and address some policy
changes to help stabilize global climate and strict standards for business sectors or nations.
Natural Climate change
The Earth has been experiencing a considerable amount of climate change for the last several
decades. Natural factors that contribute to the climate system consist of: volcano activity, solar, and
earth s orbit around the sun. The two factors relevant on timescales of contemporary climate change
are changes in volcanic activity and changes in solar radiation. The Earth s energy balance primarily
influences the amount of incoming energy. Volcanic eruptions have relatively short term effect on
climate. Changes in solar output have contributed greatly to climate trends over the past century.
The effect of additions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere has been about ten times that of
changes in the Sun s output. The ocean covers more than 70 percent of the Earth s surface and
receives twice the amount of earth s radiation. Although the sun is the engine that drives all the

Were The Patriots And Loyalists Justified
In the past, while learning about the American Revolution I had always thought of America as a
united front. The war between the Patriots and Loyalists could even be compared to the war
between America and Britain. The Patriots were not justified in abusing and expelling the
Loyalists. In the actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable
rights, these actions also allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. The
Patriots fought for an admirable cause, as stated in the Declaration of Independence they believed
in fighting for the unalienable rights: that among these are life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness
(Ford.153). However, they took these unalienable rights away from the... Show more content on

In 1861, America entered a war within itself, the American Civil War. Both conflicts began in a
similar fashion. In both situations, a party felt like they were being muffled by the government. In
response to their feelings, both groups of rebels decided that they could survive on their own. This
caused friction within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who
thoroughly believed in its practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more
that could be done. While some believed that it was best to see the government through, it is
understandable to see where some might find it more appealing to demand change. It is interesting
to ponder an alternate end to the American Revolution, while an accent might be nice, we would
live in world where even the simplest necessities would be heavily taxed and America would no
longer be a safe haven for those seeking life, love and the pursuit of happiness, like Thomas Paine
stated in Common Sense This new world hath been the asylum for the persecuted lovers of civil
and religious liberty from every part of Europe (Paine.150). Both groups of people during both
periods of war wanted the best possible outcome for America, unfortunately that was taken too far
when Patriots started abusing Loyalists and expelling them from the

Social Effects Of Advertising In Advertising
When going shopping, watching the television or looking in magazines, young girls are among the
most targeted, being affected and vulnerable to the social influences of marketing and
advertisements. Many advertisements of clothing have depicted the female form in a sexually
provocative manner. Sexualisation is when a person s value comes only from his or her sexual
appeal or behaviour, to the exclusion of other characteristics. Furthermore, sexual objectificationis
when the female body is seen as an object of male desire, which leads to a woman s worth being
her body s appearance and sexual function. Evidence from social and psychological studies is
suggesting that girls are exposed from an early age to sexualising content. On average, one third of
clothingitems available to young girls in stores have sexualised characteristics containing either
tight fitting and skin tight, low cut, or see through parts. Such clothing emphasises sexual body
parts such as the chest, bum, or legs. All of which are products that are designed and marketed
for young girls below the age of fourteen. Many garments also feature sex related pictures or
writing such as Future WAG, or short skirts and dresses, along with high heeled shoes which are
not age appropriate for young children. Some [high heeled] shoes I have seen on sale look more
suited to a lap dancing club than the feet of a young girl. Even lingerie, which is typically for
adults, is being designed for girls onwards of the age of

  • 2. The Mexica Empire against Hernan Cortes Essay The Totonacs joined forces with Cortes against the emperor and his allies. Other neighboring towns that resented the deplorable Aztec hegemony stopped paying tribute as a gesture of support for the Spanish. As a response, those in power at TenochtitlГЎn sent forces to Cempoala to punish the defiance but the Spanish with newly acquired allies defeated the advancing army (Castillo). It was here at Cempoala that the Spanish would meet the Tlaxcalans for the very first time, prompting a standoff between the two. Openly opposing the Mexica empire, the Tlaxcalans were a force to be reckoned with since they had twice prevented Aztecdomination (Portilla) and were suspicious of the Spanish at first especially when the conquistadors accepted... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The conquistadors defeated the warriors of the Mexica empire due to a number of reasons that not only pertain to the weapons they possessed. Interestingly enough, all the steel and horses contributed to the physical aspect of war but on a psycho social level, it was the Aztecs varying conception of warfare that led to Spanish victory. Conquistadors were taught to fight to the death and move on to the next one while the Aztecs would focus a large amount of energy to capturing and taking prisoners (Brandt). Whether it was for personal reasons or the desire for human sacrifice, this concept impeded their chances of winning battles. Isolation can be noted as a small factor as well since the Aztecs kept their empire confined to the continent and never branched out to discover new technology. The Spanish on the other hand had a very strong background in exploration with ties to naval and advanced military tactics. These men were cogs in a powerful war machine that was the reason Charles V had so much land and power. With exploration comes new discovery such as new weapons and advancements in warfare. In every way possible, Spanish military dominance consisting of steel, cavalry, and gunpowder was underlying reason the natives never stood a chance. Toledo steel fashioned into swords, spears, and pikes were the bread and butter of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Reflection Paper About Sex 1)Loving your body and yourself Someone can only love you if you love yourself. This class made me retake drawing. One exercise presented in class was to do someone you are good at to help build confidence. I loved drawing portrait but for some reason I stopped once I started dating my boyfriend of 3 years. I now starting to bring that hobbies back up and its making me love myself stronger again. In one of our NPR, students also reviews media and its harmful effects on female body image. I am a healthy BMI but I constantly think I am not skinny enough, which is disappointing. I decided to unfollow the girls that made me insecure online on apps such as Instagram and twitter. I follow more body positive accounts. I found a love for fitness and health and I decided I want to feel better rather than look skinner. It made a world of difference being in the class and learning that loving yourself was not as hard as I expected. 2)Understanding sexual activity through the years This topic took me by surprise. I don t live with older adults, only my parents. I have never had a grandmother to talk to so I just never thought of the idea of growing old with someone. Research from NSSHB 2010, shows that people between the ages of 18 29 have sex on average of 112 times per year, while adults 40 49 have sex around 69 times a year. This study shows that 3 percent of married women reported that they had never had sex in the past year. I find this information important because lowering of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Impact Of Mmp On New Zealand Since MMP has been implemented into New Zealand, it has allowed for a wider diversity of parties to be in parliament. On account of that, while it is still possible for a party to win the majority seats in parliament, it is very difficult to do so; Church (2015) states that this has not happened in the last four elections. As a result, MMP has impacted on the relationship between the executive and parliament by making the executive to make arrangements between themselves and minor parties, in order to stay in power. This is also for the executive to be able to pass votes of confidence and supply, as well as get potential Bills that they want implemented, to be passed through parliament. Since 2008, John Key, Prime Ministerand leader of the National party has had enhanced confidence and supply arrangements with minor parties, consisting of United Future, ACT and Maori party, in order to stay in the executive. An enhanced confidence and supply arrangement, is when the minor parties are appointed ministerial posts outside of cabinet, and only be bound by cabinet responsibility when it involves their portfolio or have been involved in an development of policy that ended with an agreed position. As Boston and Bullock (2009) note, these enhanced arrangement is very unusual, as New Zealandis the only country to have these in politics. Sweden has experimented with similar arrangements, termed contract parliamentarians, however it did not include members of non government ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Knee Joint Research Paper The Knee Joint (tibiofemoral joint) is a bicondylar synovial joint named a hinge joint, which permits flexion and extension with a slight degree of medial and lateral rotation. The joint is formed by the two articulations between the femur, tibia and patella. The joint consists of two articulations. The Tibiofemoral, which is, the medial and lateral condyles of the femur that articulate with the tibial condyles. The second being the Patellofemoral, which is, the anterior and distal section of the femur which articulates with the patella. The tibiofemoral jointis referred to as the weight bearing joint of the knee. The knee has two collateral ligaments, which are strap like ligaments, that stabilises the hinge motion of the knee to prevent excess medial and lateral movement. The Tibial (medial) collateral ligament originates on the medial side of the joint. It attaches to the medial side of the tibia to prevent forces applied to the lateral side of the knee from moving the knee medially. The Fibular (lateral) ligament is a thin and rounder ligament that attaches laterally to the epicondyle of the femur to the fibular head. The knee joint has two internal ligaments, the anterior and posterior cruciate ligaments which contribute to maintain the proper alignment of the knee. The anterior cruciate ligament attaches to the anterior intercondylar region of the tibia where it mergers with the medial meniscus. Posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), located behind the ACL, which extends obliquely from the surface of the medial condyle of the femur to the posterior intercondylar space of the tibia. The PCL prevents the posterior dislocation of the tibia onto the femur. The medial and lateral menisci are fibrocartilage structures in the knee that, protect and cushion the joint surface and bone ends and increases stability of the joint. They are C shaped in appearance and attach at both ends of the intercondylar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Designing A Well Secure Solution Comprehensive and Secure Solution In order to design and construct a well secured network, many features must be taken into consideration, such as the topology and placement of hosts within the network, the selection of hardware and software technologies, and the successful arrangement of each component. I will discuss securing a LAN from the viewpoint of the network architect considering two main areas: the network topologywhich comprises the physical and logical design of the network; and securing the routers and switches which connect segments and hosts to form the network. Initial Assumptions and Challenges Finding some of the best practices and examining some of the security issues found in small to medium sized networks is a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Topology and Architecture Topology is the arrangement of the various elements (links, nodes, etc.) of a computer network. Essentially, it is the structure of a network and may be depicted physically or logically. On the physical side, a network needs provide distribution to the offices or buildings where the users are located. In laying out the logical topology we need to consider the arrangement of devices on the network. The way data is moved across the network may include which groups of users and devices should be grouped alongside which parts of the network are trusted. The diagram below lays out the proposed network design. The design includes one router connected to the internet, a core router, a firewall, an intranet switch, three workgroup switches, multiple workstations, and servers. If the business wanted to consider more advanced management of the network from an IT perspective we propose adding a few management workstations and servers as well as setting up a management VLAN (virtual LAN). The management VLAN will operate on a separate VLAN from the regular user traffic. Security A hacker looks for poorly configured network devices. Common vulnerabilities include information gathering, sniffing, spoofing, and denial of service. As you see in our diagram, we propose to implement several points of protection, ... Nike and the athletic shoe industry have evolved into one of the most competitive market in recent years. But, analysts believe that athletic shoe sales will slow down over the next few years. The slowdown will come with the change in consumer trends. For instance, the younger market is beginning to buy more casual shoes and work boots. • 11. Industrialization During The Late Abraham Lincoln America is the great exception where people can be born of humble origins and rise to the top to become the next Abraham Lincoln (Pettengill). However, in the Early Republic things began to change and industrialization created a huge gap between the rich and the poor and made it hard to rise to the top. Industrialization changed America from an agricultural country to one based on manufacturing goods and services. This change created advancement and expansion for the nation as a whole. Industrialization was very helpful to the economy but was an impediment for the working class, like Sam Patch. In the book, Sam Patch by Paul E. Johnson, it is evident how industrialization restricted the freedom of the working class and increased the great divide between the rich and the poor. The industrial revolution limited the amount of jobs available and created many unskilled labor jobs. Free labor economy made it possible for skilled workers to make money by independently selling their products. Industrial engineers found a way to build machines that were faster, more powerful, more efficient and more reliable than the human muscle. As seen in The American System of Manufacturers, Joseph Whitworth stated, the laboring class are comparatively few in number, but this is counter balanced by, and indeed may be regarded as one of the chief causes of, the eagerness with which they call in the aid of machinery in almost every department of industry (Whitworth 226) This machinery slowly ... • 14. Analysis Of Diving Into The Wreck By Adrienne Rich Is it possible for words on a page to become a painting in the mind? After plunging into Adrienne Rich s Diving into the Wreck, it is apparent that words on a page can come to life in the mind of the readers. Rich uses a vast amount of describing words, and a setting of a scuba diver to allow readers the ability to acknowledge and understand the difficulties life may imply upon humankind. Throughout the next few paragraphs, it is evident that certain elements of poems can become a large factor in allowing the reader to get more out of a poem, rather than just words on a page. In summary, Adrienne Rich gives the reader a depiction of a person dealing with one or even many difficult intricacies in life through the symbolization of scuba divingin a large body of water (Mays, 2014, p.581). Whether that be national issues, personal relationships, the death of those close by, or even more personal issues, the reader is able to relate with Rich s symbolization of a scuba diver getting ready for an intense journey through a large, dark body of water. Scuba diving into a shipwreckis an abstract way to relate the thoughts people bottle up inside their bodies into a larger, more meaningful picture, which allows the reader to understand how issues weigh on the mind. In addition, Rich doesn t just use simple words to create a symbolization, she precedes or follows those words with meaningful adjectives which help to create a clearer appearance for the reader to imagine. I played high school football all four years, and it was easy to me because I played with my teammates in middle school too. Because of that, my team trusted each other and depended on each other during the game of football. My football team was on its way to a state championship because we came together, did our assignments in the game and worked hard everyday in practice. Coming together was very easy for us since we played on the middle school team. We had spring and summer workouts and practices every year. During the spring, we got together and tuned in our plays that we ran from the previous year. During the summer the team had to spend the night in the gym and wake up at five o clock in the morning to get ready for practice. The team got to spend even more time together, and spending the night in the gym made us come together more. I was quarterback, so I was the leader of the team, so the had to look up to me. I was already friends with everyone on the team, so I knew I had their trust. I still had to do my job though. I had to make every hand off and throw count. As quarterback, I spent my time with the receivers a lot. Throwing down the field to the receiver for the first time that year was spot on. Marlin s determination undergoes major development throughout the movie. But by the time Marlin wiggles his way out of a pelicans throat, it is clear that Marlin is determined to find his son at any cost. Nemo always displays quite a bit of determination although at first it is misconstrued as being headstrong or willful. Upon hearing the encouraging news of his father s search for him, he executes an especially daring feat with a sudden rejuvenated burst of determination. He displays even more determination to be reunited with his father by pulling of a clever act that lands him in the sewer and on his way to the ocean to find his father. Here Nemo showed another gritty trait known as resilience. This process is called a double action; this is because one must turn away from a previous lifestyle and turn to a new state of being. The development of conversion can be a sudden experience or a gradual one and the end result is usually a greater understanding of faith. People may convert for several reasons; It may be about years of searching for a spiritual home, or about a moment of inspiration that has caught them by surprise; sometimes it involves the pain of breaking away from a previous path, a sense of loneliness and wrestling with doubt. These Party State Relations occur in all communist countries. There are many key features of Party State Relations. Firstly, the members of the controlling party (China Communist Party) have a key role in political decisions. The party holds major influence in major political appointments, promotions, and dismissals of the members of the legislature, the state administration, and the judiciary. This influence allows the party to maintain control over the goals and actions of the government and to ensure that they aligned with that of the controlling party. Another key feature of the Party State relations is that the parties infiltration of the government allows them to make decisions in all of the state affairs and institutions because they are led by the party leaders. • 34. Character Analysis Of Ready Player One By Ernest Cline In the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline, the main character, Wade, changes throughout the book. This is due to the experiences with trying to get the answer to the puzzles with some of these being his living quarters and then getting thrown into jail. In the beginning of the book, Wade is a more selfish type of person and he has to fend for himself due to his background and home life. At the start, he came from a poor family so he had to be resourceful. He showed us that he ...was curled up in an old sleeping bag in the corner of the trailer s tiny laundry room, wedged into the gap between the wall and the dryer (Cline 13). The main character, Wade, was forced to sleep in the laundry room due to how overcrowdedness of the stack he was in. Even though he had a large amount of his family living in the same small apartment with him, he was still able to make room for himself. He made a small spot for himself to be comfortable in. This sets up how many people are in that small area and adds to the loss that will come later in the story and that will play a part in changing him. He also was a very determined person. He was sometimes obsessive with the ways he studied the life of Halliday. He states that For the past five years, I d devoted all my free time to learning as much as I possibly could about James Halliday (Cline 52). Wade was obsessed with the hunt and spent a large part of a long while studying everything that the creator of the OASIS had loved in his life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Principle 2: Identify and Map Value Stream In Lean Manufacturing the value stream identifies the necessary steps for developing and creating a product that is valuable from the customer s perspective. In other words, the value stream determines how and when decisions are made in the production process. Lean Construction uses a similar technique called value stream mapping, as known as process mapping, to understand how a construction project will be designed, supplied, and built. Hence, this is where the planning and design aspects mentioned in the above section, come into play. Typical Lean Construction value stream maps consist of the following: Problem solving tasks: ranging from concept through detailed design and engineering to production launch. Information management tasks: ranging from order taking through detailed scheduling to delivery. Physical transformation tasks: ranging from raw materials to producing finished products that get delivered into the hands of the customer. Relational cultural theory argues that the mother child relationship continually changes due to social context and time, and therapy can help children rework empathic failures and acute disconnections to question the absolute certainty of poor mothering. There were several statements that Jordan (2011) argued that I found particularly applicable to my life. The book chapter mentions that immigrant mothers tend to lose the support of a larger familynetwork, and this can affect mothering. There is also the mention of a desire for connection, and the lack of a connection can lead to an inability to be authentic in a relationship. The first point that I would like to mention is the idea that immigrant mothers lose support of an extended family network (Jordan, 2011). My personal experience can verify this my parents left their parents behind in Russia and rarely see them. The only extended family I have in the United States are one aunt, one uncle, and two cousins. I have not seen them since I was 14 years old. The impact of moving to a different country far from other family has great consequences. • 41. The Importance Of The Protestant Reformation When I think of the Protestant Reformation, the first thing that comes to mind is the Augsburg Confession. The protestant reformation can be defined as the 16th century religious, political, intellectual and cultural upheaval that splintered Catholic Europe, setting in place the structures and beliefs that would define the continent in the modern era. The augsburg confession is the foremost confession of faith for the Lutheran Church. It was written by Phillip Melanchton and presented to Charles V on June 25, 1530. The main goal of this confession was to restore religious and political unity. There are also many reasons why the augsburg confession ties into this and reveals its importance throughout history. There are 28 articles included in the confession but we are going to focus on the first four: God, the original sin, Christ and justification. The first article that the augsburg confession reveals is God. The church was a major component to the way of life in this era, so they had copious amounts of control over people and the consequences based on betrayal. The churches were based on catholic views and the aspects of their beliefs could be supplemented by leaders that wanted to extend their power and control the church. Aker s Social Learning Theory In Weather Underground There are various different theories that have been applied to what has caused crime, including: biological, psychological, control and plenty of more. However, similar to all other behaviors, crime could be learned. Every feature of person, criminal or noncriminal, could be learned from the type of environment a person grew up in or their interests. For instance, a person s interests could be learned by the type of music they listen to and the artist s message or the types movies they watch, including violent ones. Out of the several diverse theories given, Aker s social learning theory fits best with the film, Weather Underground. The social learning theoryconsists of four different concepts, which are differential association, definitions, differential reinforcement, and imitation. From the four concepts, only two will be discussed. The first idea would be differential association and this is the process by which a person is exposed to normative definitions favorable or unfavorable to illegal behavior(Bernard, Snipes, Gerould, 2016, p.199). Within differential association, there are two different groups that this concept applies to. One group focuses on the primary groups, who are family and friends, and the other group is secondary groups, which is based on church, school and the media. The second idea would be imitation and this is the engagement of behavior after the observation of similar behavior in others. Imitation could be through prosocial or deviant ... Median Voter Theorem Essay Question 1: The most central prediction in the median voter theorem is that the voters opinion is on a linear spectrum, while this is quite applicable in the US it is often not case in many other countries as the two party system is not as prevalent. The theorem also predicts that voters see their utility as single peak spectrum, with only their most preferred utility at the top (The Median Voter Theorem and its Applications, Joshua Poulette, p. 2). These two are very central in determining the efficacy of the median voter theorem and must always be true for it to be accurate. His works with human cognition, the basic structure of the psyche, and association experiments are widely known today in the form of the concepts of the introvert and the extrovert, psychological archetypes, and basic tests of word association. Although many basic principles of psychology today are based upon his original discoveries and theories, they were not conceived without external insight. Weinstein suggests, A key reason, then, that Aylmer wants to erase the birthmark is that it signifies a sexuality with which he is deeply uncomfortable (123). This argument is seen throughout Hawthorne s story, but Weinstein s argument can be taken a step further to deal with the root cause, control. Natural Climate change The Earth has been experiencing a considerable amount of climate change for the last several decades. Natural factors that contribute to the climate system consist of: volcano activity, solar, and earth s orbit around the sun. The two factors relevant on timescales of contemporary climate change are changes in volcanic activity and changes in solar radiation. The Earth s energy balance primarily influences the amount of incoming energy. Volcanic eruptions have relatively short term effect on climate. Changes in solar output have contributed greatly to climate trends over the past century. The effect of additions of greenhouse gases to the atmosphere has been about ten times that of changes in the Sun s output. In the actions the Patriots took against the Loyalists, they violated their unalienable rights, these actions also allowed for history to repeat itself through the civil war in 1861. This caused friction within both parties and a disconnect between the government and those who thoroughly believed in its practice and the governed and those who believed that there was more that could be done. Furthermore, sexual objectificationis when the female body is seen as an object of male desire, which leads to a woman s worth being her body s appearance and sexual function.
