How Is Chris Brander Presented In Just Friends
The characters in the 2005 film, Just Friends are a very interesting bunch. They are all different
in many ways but, somehow share some of the same qualities. The movies stars Ryan Reynolds,
who portrays Chris Brander. Chris Brander is a well rounded character who somehow evolves as
the movie goes on. Chris was in love with Jamie Palamino portrayed by Amy Smart; Jamie was a
somewhat a flat characterwho did not change much at all. A character whose transformation was
similar to Chris s was Dusty Dinkleman who was portrayed by Chris Klein. While it seems that
Jamie and Samantha James have a one similarity by the name of Chris Brander. The main
character Chris Brander was an evolving character he went through some pretty big changes both
mentally and physically. As the movie starts, Chris is seen as this overweight, unpopular nerd in
high school. He is in love with his best friend Jamie Palamino, a popular girl, who has officially
Friend Zoned him. Being Friend Zoned is the one thing every guy on the face of the earth dreads.

Chris leaves his hometown with the intent of never returning. He mistakenly returns a decade
later as a different person. This is surprisingly normal in real life; people leave home after high
school and go through some life altering change while away. They return and sometimes the
people they return to are happy with the change, and then they may not like the change they see.
Chris returns as a fit and slim womanizer who is arrogant and rude. Guys are not born jerks and
womanizers they turn into them, because of their experience with girls. They start off as nice
little boys who likes the girl who only likes the Jerk who pulls her hair. Chris turns into the jerk
who pulls the girls hair because he thinks that is guy that Jamie wants. This notion is based on the
guys she dated in high school not the guys she dates ten years

Sephia Officinalis Research Paper
The class of the Sepia officinalis is Cephalopoda which can be thought of in three groups: the
Nautiloidea, Ammonoidea and Coleoidea each of which have adapted and evolved independently
of each other (A Broad Brush History of the Cephalopoda). Cuttlefish, along with octopuses and
squid, are cephalopods animals from an ancient branch of the tree of life that have been trolling the
oceans for more than 500 million years. Cuttlefish were around long before the first shark or fish
ever evolved. Their cephalopod ancestors were encased in a shell that acted as protection from
predators, but the modern cuttlefish has developed an even better defense: camouflage (http:/

All cephalopods have arms, but not all cephalopods have tentacles. Octopuses, cuttlefish, and squid
have eight arms, but only cuttlefish and squid have two tentacles. Squid and cuttlefish have one
pair of tentacles which they use to strike their prey (http://www.ucmp.berkeley.edu/taxa/inverts
/mollusca/cephalopoda.php). These prove that squids and cuttlefish evolved away from octopuses
by having tentacles to strike prey. The main difference between the cuttlefish and the squid are the
internal shells. The squid has remains of an internal shell while the cuttlefish have a cuttlebone.

New team members are also given training mentors to help them adapt to the initial environment,
making their first smoothie, ringing up at their first purchase, and ect. These training mentors help
ease the process of learning new material and provide them with a sense of instant support and a
teamwork feel. Upon training, new team members also receive a bingo card (see attached) that
must be signed off every time a new objective is learned. Throughout the bingo card there are
practices and evaluations, and at the end there is a whirl pinning ceremony. At this ceremony the
new team member receives their whirl to wear on their apron signifying that they made it and are an
officially informed Jamba employee. This bingo card and reward at the end is motivating and
provides a visual and tangible appeal to finishing the training process. During training is when
Jamba focuses on their key strategies of great customer service, wowing the customer and always
leaving the customer with a smile. Training does not stop after the first month but continues
throughout the course of employment. Roughly every month a new project or initiative comes out
and each team member and manager must take a product knowledge test to see how well they
understand the product and to ensure that they will be able to communicate the benefits to the
customer. Being tested on material reinforces

Lust By Simon Blackburn Quotes
Lust: the seven deadly sins by Simon Blackburn is part of a seven book series covering the seven
deadly sins. In the book Blackburn takes a wide ranging, historical approach, discussing lust as
viewed by Aristophanes and Plato, lust in the light of the Stoic mistrust of emotion, and the
Christian fear of the flesh that catapulted lustto the level of deadly sin. He describes how
philosophical pessimists like Schopenhauer and Sartre contributed to our thinking about lust and
explores the false starts in understanding lust represented by Freud, Kinsey, and modern
evolutionary psychology. ( Lust. Google Books. Oxford University Press, n.d. Web. 1 May 2017. .)
The Author, Simon Blackburn relays all of the information and gives his opinion on what he is
writing about. Therefore Blackburn is technically the only... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

An assumption could be made based off of how he views other philosophers and people he has
decided to write about but without any actual interaction it is hard to tell his personality toward
others. In the chapter introduction of the book he says It is not a task to undertake lightly, and I
have to ask questions of myself. Do I really want to draw aside the curtains and let light disperse the
decent night that thankfully veils our embarrassments? Am I to stand alongside the philosopher
Crates, the Cynic, who believing that nothing is shameful, openly copulated with his wife
Hipparchia? Certainly not, but part of the task is to know why not. (Blackburn, Simon.
Introduction. Lust: The Seven Deadly Sins. Oxford: Oxford UP, 2004. 4. Print.) This makes it
explicitly clear in the beginning of the book that Blackburn is going to take factual, historical
information, analyze it and give his opinions based on what he believes is

What Are The Decline Of Disney Channel Tv Pros And Cons
It is 4 in the afternoon, around the time when most students get out of school. They jump off the
bus, eager to get home. Taking a pit stop in the kitchen pantry, they grab for a snack and head on
into their room. As they drop their backpacks to the floor, do they reach for: a) the remote or b)
their tablet? If it were 10 years ago, then yes, the kids would be all over the remote, fighting over
who got to choose the channel. However, now in this golden age of technology practically every
kid has their own electronic device whether it is a smartphone, tablet, or laptop. This familiar image
of sibling conflict and rivalry has dissipated. Instead, they grab for their tablets. This rise in Internet

Nursing Informatics Telenursing
Telenursing : Today and Tomorrow Abstract Tele nursing has been around for a long time, but
now a days it requires more demanding and more practicing diversely in nursing. The reason is
that it is saving a cost of care, helping the shortage of nurses, reducing distances and travel time,
keeping patients out of hospital and expending in coverage of healthcare to distance. The growth
of aged population and the increase of chronic disease have aggravated the problem and the
challenges have demanded a review of the way care services are traditionally provided. The

Appropriate and supportive service for clients should be made to ensure the quality and
effectiveness of this service for users of mental health services. In the UK, nurses and medical staffs
have been used mobile phone technology to monitor patients with chronic disease. A significant
proportion of the UK population owns a mobile phone, and it has been used by improving
communication with hospital or community services. A Norwegian study reported the findings of
a mobile and wireless system that it improved communication between patients and healthcare
professionals. Mobile phone has the benefits of assisting nurses with the distance monitoring of
patients, more research is needed to evaluate the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness. In
telenursing, it is the nurse s responsibility to speak directly to a patient when giving instructions or
responding to a patient s phone message. Many risks may be encountered with telenursing, and
these risks include misunderstanding, incomplete documentation, and muti state practice issues. It
is necessary for the patient to repeat your instructions, by doing this, it ensures understanding.
Seeking clarification and avoiding assumptions are important skills to develop with telephone
communications. Nurses should practice telenursing with standardized, written protocols that
provide guidance in how to advice patients, documenting communication, and

Effects Of European Exploration On The World
Effects Of European Exploration
By the late 1400 s into the 1500 s, European countries began to expand into the rest of the world.
This resurgence of trade interest resulted in a demand for foreign goods and exploration of water
routes. This Age of Exploration united the Americas with Europe, Asia, and Africa. The exchanges
were plentiful and stabilizing for many communities. However, along with the positive influences,
came the negative aspects, which impacted cultures and civilizations around the world. European
exploration changed travel, trade, health, religion, language, architecture, the economy, and
humanity. It is this author s position that the positive influences and contributions have had a
greater impact on growth and development globally than the challenges presented. Historically, the
Age of Exploration shaped the world as we know it today.
Many positive effects for the Age of Exploration can be identified. Historical discoveries and
persuasive revelations shaped every continent. Referring to the Island of Espanola, Columbus
wrote, It will serve as a place to which (colonists) can return and from which they can carry on trade
with the neighboring islands (Document 1). This quote shows that Columbus foresaw the potential
advantages of this exploration. He understood the longevity of the colonization and trade to come.
This historical time of transition is often referred to as the Columbian Exchange because it started
with Christopher Columbus.

Essay on Custom Painting Cars
The first thing you see when you get into the car, and the last thing you see when you get out.
Painting cars is an art, from stock to custom paint there is a lot of possibilities and techniques.
Something some people don t pay attention to and some people its the first thing they look at,
and some people make their living by painting cars. In this research paper i will talk about
painting and certain various types of custom painting techniques. Painting a car is a good way to
make it unique and special to you. When you go to buy a car, whether at a car lot or from
someone else you will notice the cars paintjob. It may be a solid colour or something a little special

Polishing helps the paint shine and helps it better protect the paint. Never wash a car after painting
make sure to buff it and polish before you wash it.
When it comes to custom painting Two Tone is one of the most used. Two tone paint jobs are
used on a lot of factory cars but usually separated with moldings. Two tone is where the bottom of
the car is one color and the top is another. When doing custom painting you can do more than just
two tones you can do three tones or even four tones. Alot of times people separate the colors by a
pin strip so that the colors don t look like to walls of color, the pin strip helps carry your eye
without realizing the strip is there.
When you are going to do two tone you must mask off the part you are not painting and spray the
color on the first part, this is usually the bottom first. Once what you have sprayed dryer you
will mask over it leaving the unsprayed area to view. Then you spray the next color of choice. Once
the last layer has dried take the paper off the panel and clear over the whole thing. If you plan to
spray a Strip in between you can must do this before clear coating the hole panel. Wood Grain is
something that was started a long time ago with wood grain cars. Painting wood grain is a good
way to bring back that vintage wood grain look. There are many ways to do wood grain and here
are some. One of the most used ways is to spray a brown then your base color over it, take your

The Cost Of The Cadillac Tax
Intentions of the Tax One of the primary goals of the Cadillac tax is to reduce the growing costs
of national health care (Lowry 2015). The government is hopeful that implementation of the
Cadillac tax will reduce overall health care expenditures and impede the growth of health care
costs by encouraging a change in consumer behavior through discouraging the provision and
obtainment of overly generous health coverage plans (Herring, 2011). Generally, individuals who
are insured spend greater amounts on health care than those who are not as they can consume
greater amounts of healthcare with a lesser personal burden. In the case that the insurance provided
to an individual is overly generous, it encourages over spending on health care due to the fact that
they incur a only a portion of costs of consumption. In this manner, the consumption of an
inefficient amount of health care is perpetuated by the provision of overly generous health care
coverage. This inefficiency and associated increase in demand for healthcare causes the price of
healthcare to rise, which exacerbates the undesirable growth in national health care costs (Gravelle,
2015). The Cadillac taxaims to discourage the provision and obtainment of overly generous health
care coverage by employers in an effort to decrease inefficient over consumption of health care and
stagnate the growth in healthcare costs. The intent of the Cadillac tax is to alter consumer behavior
to decrease the provision of unnecessarily

Airport Perimeter Security
Airport operations, with the assistance and oversight of the Transportation Safety Administration
(TSA) are responsible for securing approximately 450 commercial airports in the United States.
Security breaches frequently occur when aviation employees misuse access privileges to smuggle
drugs and weapons onto planes and into restricted locations. While the majority of securityefforts
are focused on TSA screening checkpoints, recent incidents in unsecure areas have heighted threat
awareness and concerns. Consequently, many questions were raised following an active shooter
incident that occurred in a baggage claim area of the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International
Airport on January 6, 2017. The intense scrutiny placed at checkpoints in airports, but not on the
perimeter, is the equivalent of locking your home s doors while leaving your windows wide... Show

To further complicate matters, TSA has no clear structure for responsibility, accountability, and
authority at most airports, and the potential lack of local government resources makes it difficult to
issue and enforce higher standards to counter new threats . (Department of Homeland Security,
2015) Although not predominantly responsible for airport Perimeter security, TSA functions to
make certain that airport operations is following applicable Federal security guidelines and
procedures. In furtherance of these duties, TSA assesses Perimeter security with respect to alarm
systems, closed circuit television, barriers, and fencing. Moreover, the inspections are ranked with
the largest airports receiving the highest priority. Upon review, an evaluation of airport operations
security functions is necessary to fully appreciate and understand underlying issues that result from

Why You Should Buy An Apple Macintosh Computer Essay
Do you own a computer? What kind of computer is it? Is it a Microsoft PC, running Windows
Vista? Or is it an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS X? Using a PC can be such a hassle.
Macintosh computers are so much better and easier to use than a PC. Macs also are better for the
planet, have a longer lifespan, have more reliable hardware, are less likely to crash or get viruses,
have better security features, it s very easy to transfer all your files from a PC to a Mac, and a Mac
can be a PC if you really wanted it too. But I will explain that last one later. First, I will tell you
about how the build of the Macintoshcomputer is a big reason of the rapid growth of Macs. In 2007,
2008, and 2009, Apple s Macbook, Macbook Pro, and I Mac (their... Show more content on

A recent study by the magazine PC Advisor, stated that a Mac owner who uses no security
software at all runs less risk of getting spyware or a virus than a person who owns a PC and
obsessively protects it. In the year 2008 there were 114,000 known viruses for PC s. But there
has never been a virus that could harm a Mac. Apple does admit they have come across some
security flaws, but within a day of the flaws discovery Apple creates a security update, and every
single Mac user gets a notification from Apple saying that there is a flaw and an update
available that can correct it. And personally, I think one of the reasons Mac is so successful is
because of their hardware. For example, lets pretend I bought a new PC. Dell made the monitor
and tower. Mircosoft made the hardware and operating system. Intel made the processor. Nvidia
made the graphics drive. And the consumer is the one putting everything together. The average
desktop PC takes 2.5 hours to put together, and you re the one who has to do it! If you do one
thing wrong you could cut your computer s life in half. The worst part is, the more pieces and
components that are in the computer, there are more places that something could go wrong. When
you buy a desktop Mac,

Snow Lake Snow Lake is a town in eastern Arkansas near the Mississippi River. Calling this area

other town characteristics. The closest gas station is sixteen miles away from Snow Lake and
the restaurant is twenty six miles away at the town of Elaine. To get any supplies other than
what is carried at a gas station Snow Lakers must travel fifty miles to Helena West Helena which
is also the closest doctor s office. The children of Snow Lake attend grade school at Elaine and

Another situation that shows the isolation of this area is described in the article when Judge
McElroy came into office and decided to venture all the way out to Snow Lake. As he drove into
the town he was immediately flagged down by a citizen and questioned, he was then instructed
to leave immediately. This type of action would not be anywhere close to normal in a city or any
sort of large town. It really could only happen at Snow Lake. Snow Lake is obviously very isolated
because of its distance from a larger town but it is also very isolated due to its geographic location.
Snow Lake is located in Desha County; however, Elaine, Marvell, and Helena West Helena are all a
part of Phillips County. This is because Snow Lake is in the North Eastern part of Desha County
that is cut off from the main portion by rivers. No bridges have been built to connect Snow Lake
to the main part of Desha County due to the few people that would benefit from the large cost and
effort. Instead, when Snow Lakers wish to visit central Desha County they must endure a two and a
half hour drive that covers over one hundred and thirty five miles and four different Arkansas
counties. The article says that while Judge McElroy does drive this distance he prefers to fly there
as it only takes twenty minutes and is one hundred miles shorter by air. Snow Lakers seldom must
drive this distance; however, some situations might require a visit to a courthouse or a revenue
office and driving the distance may

The Technology of Computer Networks
Introduction
Computer network a system used to link PCs or computer equipment (servers, routers, and other
equipment). For data transmission can be used various kinds of electric signals, light signals or
electromagnetic radiation. Computer networks can be classified according to various criteria
territorial prevalence, type of network topology, etc. One of the criteria the type of transmission,
the network is divided into wired and wireless.
Wi Fi a trademark of Wi Fi Alliance for wireless networks based on the standard IEEE 802.11.
The acronym Wi Fi (from the Wireless Fidelity, which can be literally translated as the quality of
the wireless ) is currently developing as a family of standards for the transmission of digital data
radio streams. It is still often hears that the wireless network is not secure compared to wired
solutions. At the present stage of Wi Fi technology s development that is not true. Simply security
needs to be addressed (to design and maintain), as in the case of a wired network.
It has long been known that the defense of any infrastructure is only one method of creating a
protected perimeter is ineffective, as often the most dangerous attacks are caused by factors
within the network. Building a security system Wi Fi network should take into account all of
these factors in order to come as close to a similar level of security of wired and wireless network
segments.
And what, in fact, an attacker can get on the wireless network , set up which

Descriptive Essay On The Slaughter House
This is absolutely despicable, these are living breathing creatures.
I stared out from the dirty car window and I sat in my parked car across the road from the
slaughter house. Hundreds of cows milled aimlessly with glazed eyes, through dust clouds of
the overturned earth. I watched as several other cars pulled up behind mine, checking in my rear
view mirror to see a familiar face. Bianca in her little yellow bug looked so out of place on this
filthy dirt road. Today was going to be the day we put a stop to the slaughter. Bianca stepped out of
her car and I watched as she slowly walked towards the fence of the slaughter house. A man parked
further behind us called out something illegible but she took no heed.
Ok... this is it.
I jumped out of my little old truck, and sprinted across the road to the gate. Bianca had cut the
lock and stood back as I slammed the gate wide open. The cows stared with starved for attention
but overfed ,eyes in my direction. I ran through the tightly packed animals and shoved over the
nearest feeding trough , motioning to Bianca to come with me. She shook her head and backed
away, but held the gate open. I began to push the nearest bull and he bucked , starting a panic. The
animals raced towards the gate as Bianca pressed herself against it to avoid being trampled. My
laugh could be heard even over the frantic mooing of panicked animals.

How the Philippine Gov. Measure Its Gdp and Gnp
GDP and GNP as economic indicators
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Product (GNP) are key figures in accessing the
status of a country s economy. These numbers are also used to gauge the competency of the
administration in steering the economic wheels of the country.
By definition:
Gross Domestic Product (GDP) is the total market value of a country s output. It is the market
value of all final goods and services produced within a given period of time by factors of
production within a country.
Gross National Product (GNP) is the total market value of all final goods and services produced

In 1948, the Zionist movement realized its goal of creating a national home for the Jewish people
by founding the State of Israel. Zionists had been working toward this goal for decades, but only
won decisive international support in the aftermath of the Holocaust, a catastrophe that supported
the Zionist argument that the Jewish people would only be safe in their own state, where they
could live as they chose and defend their culture. Indeed, the Holocaust was the single most
important factor in the creation of Israel, in large part because the international community was
shocked by the scale of the Holocaust and felt responsible for aiding the Zionist project.

In the early stages of the Zionist movement, Theodore Herzl, the founder and Father of Zionism ,
negotiated with Britain, a major world power at the time, to give up five thousand square miles of
Uganda. In 1903, this idea was brought to the Zionists, which offered geographical protection and
isolation from Russia. These negotiations, however, came to a halt when Herzl died in 1904.
Months later, however, the cause did find potential in the area of Palestine. Palestine was remote
enough that Jews had geographical protection and had suitable weather for agricultural purposes.
Similarly, Palestine was religiously significant because it contained the holy land of Jerusalem.
As a result, in a span of twelve years (1902 1914), the Zionists move around 70,000 Jews within
two migration periods known as the First and Second Aliyahs. These major movements gave the
Jews the manpower they needed to make a serious threat to the Palestinian forces. Nevertheless,
WWI put a halt in the Zionist efforts until the end of the war in 1917. The Zionist movement is the
movement that supported the belief that the Jewish people deserved a homeland of their own that
was isolated from outside countries. Zionism acted as a government of the Jewish people during
the period of time they were making Israel a State. Within the Zionist movement, there were
several sub parties that acted in opposition to each other. The biggest parties were the Mapai,
which was a Zionist labor

Nerves-Personal Narrative
I nervously laced up my ballet shoes. Along with all the other girls, we quickly walked over to
the director. We all surrounded and tried to see him. He seemed incredibly mean, the old director
had a stern look on his face, I felt like he was staring right at me. After what seemed like forever,
he finally said something. He started calling numbers. 12, 47, 34 and 88 he shouted in a deep
booming voice. I knew what this meant, he was calling tag numbers so girls would come up and
do the number we should have learned. It definitely was incredibly hard. I probably didn t have
what it takes. The first group of girls had four of them. They all looked very similar, tall, thin with
dark brown hair. I watched them, and realized they were competition.... Show more content on

Wood Thrush
The data from the harvested stand and unharvested stand shows that wood thrush would likely be
able to find a suitable breeding, nesting, and foraging habitat in this section of the Vermont National
Forest (Table 1), particularly in the unharvested stand, though improved management practices
could make the harvested stand more suitable. Wood thrushcommonly hide their nests under leaves
in a shady area in the midstory level, so it is important to have vertically and horizontally diverse
stands (Hagenbauch et al. 2011 a). The unharvested stand provides higher quality nesting and
breeding areas due to the higher density of stems in the midstory and canopy and greater canopy

Results are expected to vary due to site characteristics and management histories (Hoover et al.
2012), and in this case, invasive species and harvesting in the past century could have contributed
to our estimate being lower than the regional estimate of 116 Mg C/ha. Invasive species can affect
forest health, regeneration, and forest structure, so invasive species could have crowded out live
trees, decreasing the above ground live tree carbon pool. The unharvested stand has not been cut
in the past three decades so this factor should not affect the above ground carbon pool
significantly, though it has likely been harvested more than the old growth forest stands sampled
in Hoover et al. (2012) because there was no evidence of harvesting in those stands. Species
composition of the unharvested stand could have contributed to our estimate for the above ground
live tree carbon pool being slightly higher than the estimate from Smith et al. (2004). Our
unharvested stand was mainly made up of sugar maple and beech trees (Figure 2.), and these two
species contain more carbon than birch (Jenkins et al. 2003). For the harvested stand with 61.18

Summary Of John Steinbeck s East Of Eden
In John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, one sees how past events such as the hostile interactions
between brothers, Adam and Charles, effects the attributes of future characters such as Cal. These
proceedings mold and form Cal s character, influencing not only his actions, but also his resonating
self condemnation at the end of the novel. Without these former occurrences, the reader would be
otherwise blind to the curse of the brothers as seen through the parable of Cain and Abeland to the
overriding theme of good versus evil presented not only in the brother s relationship but also in the
scenery of the Salinas Valley.
Furthermore, from the very beginning of the novel, it is obvious, that there was always a
favorite brother. In Adam s childhood, he persisted to be the favorite child of Cyrus Trask.
Good hearted and trusting of others, unlike his stolid and unemotional brother, Charles, Adam
got a seemingly innocent gift for his father s birthday, a pup, a gift that would service his father
until the day he died. This personalistic gift unlike Charles materialistic gift of a knife, for which
Cyrus Trask never used or admired, serves to be the wedge between the two and the ultimate
reasoning behind the various beatings Adam received as a child. This past occurrence
unfortunately continues to the present and forms Cal s character, a jealous son looking to gain
his father s love, a heart already stolen by Aron, a similar personality to that of his youthful father.
However, although apparent as Adam s favorite might be, it is Cal s decision on how to cope with
this obvious choice. Likewise, to envious Charles, who acted only out of violence, Cal acts out of
anger, bringing his only brother to the place that would hurt him the most, his mother s
whorehouse. This reoccurring theme of good versus evil guides Cal future decisions in terms of
being the person he wants to be and refuting the overwhelming curse of brothers.
Moreover, just as Cal and Aron relate to their father and his brother, Charles, they also fall under
a biblical or brotherhood curse . The story of Cain and Abel depicts two brothers, one who s
fueled by jealousy (Cain), kills his brother over the favoritism God had on the two gifts presented

Effects Of Social Media On Mental Health
Effects of social media on mental health Overview Social media is described, by the Merriam
Webster dictionary (2015), as forms of electronic communication (as Web sites for social
networking and microblogging) through which users create online communities to share
information, ideas, personal messages, and other content (as videos) . As few as 10 years ago
the term social media was yet to be coined, but within that decade the use of these blogs,
websites and sharing platforms has increased exponentially with no plateau in sight. From
creating Instagram accounts for household pets, to sharing Halloween themed baking ideas over
Pinterest, people today have access to social media outlets for almost everything. Today about
74% of people ages 18 65 use some form of a social networking site (Pew, 2014). Facebook takes
the lead in social media usage with about 71% of those adults. LinkedIn and Pinterest are tied for
second at 28% of users, 26% use Instagram, and Twitter falls last in the top 5 most used social
medias with 23% of users (Pew, 2014). In September of 2013 the Pew Research Center measured
that 90% of adults ages 18 29 used these social media outlets on a daily basis, which is an
astonishing increase from the 9% that was measured in February 2005 (Pew, 2014). Due to the fact
that young adults are increasingly involving themselves in these online platforms, it is very
important to understand the long term and psychological effects (such as depression, social anxiety,

International Trade Theory Of Comparative Advantage And...
Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade,
theory of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of
absolute advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has
simply an absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and
two countries. In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of
doxography in the history of economicshe says, each nation can produce one good with less
expenditure of human labor than the other and thus more cheaply. (Schuhmachers, 2012) In this
case, both countries will specialize in only producing the commodity, which they have... Show more

This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B
can produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and
then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for
a lower price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of
comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32
bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative
advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than
Country A (Economics Online, 2017.)
Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price
range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and
the importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing.
However, because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower
demand. This is one of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help
maintain local businesses.
Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. According to this
theory, one condition for trade is that countries differ with respect to the availability of the factors
of production. They

Markets And International Monetary Fund
Markets Want Greece in the Eurozone The fickleness of financial markets is a constant source of
both frustration and amazement, particularly in the Eurozone. Having started last week concerned
about the ramifications of a resounding No vote in Greece s referendum about bailout terms
imposed by the Troika, there was a strong rally in anticipation of deal eventually being signed
between Greece and her creditors. Markets have, therefore, seemingly taken the view that the best
known outcome is for Greece to remain in the single currency, regardless of the imperfections of
any agreement. In the absence of substantial debt write downs, however, the situation facing Greece
remains dire. Both the US and International Monetary Fund (IMF) have... Show more content on

Thus, this highlights the utter hypocrisy of the current negotiations surrounding Greece: both
France and Germany, in fact, conveniently ignored the rules for the fiscal convergence criteria

itself in the firing line if it fails to prevent a Greek exit from the single currency. The
sustainability of the current membership of euro has, therefore, not been laid to rest.
Understanding Events in China Events in China took on a new level of intensity last week as
the authorities attempted to stabilise the equity market. The weakness appears to be event drive
as opposed to being the result of economic malaise. In fact, recent economic data out of China
suggests that recent stimulus measures appear to have had some traction. The event in question
appears to be a large margin call being made by one of the main regulatory authorities. Recently,
I mentioned that margin debt as a percentage of GDP was a relatively high 8%. The problem
facing the authorities was sourcing where the trouble was emanating from. Margin debt can be
originated from two sources: 1) licensed brokers, and 2) the so called grey market within the
shadow banking system. The origination split is roughly 50/50 between the two sectors. This is
where the similarities end. At licensed brokers, margin credit can only be extended for up

Addressing a huge gathering of Serbs assembled on the site of the battle of Kosovo Polje, where
an Ottoman army inflicted a crushing defeat on Serbian forces 600 years earlier, he launched a
campaign to restore Serbian greatness that resulted in the break up of Yugoslavia, amid the worst
atrocities and violations of human rights since the end of the Second World War. While the
formidable Serb led Yugoslav army was used against Croats too, the worst excesses and

What effects the Balkan region is its blood soaked history, an ethnic jigsaw puzzle and, currently

Essay on Comparing Love after Love and This Room
Comparing Love after Love and This Room
The two poems with which I compare each other are both poems of celebration. Celebration of life,
love and your identity. The first is
Love after Love by Derek Walcott. This poem is about self discovery.
Walcott suggests that we spend years assuming an identity, but eventually discover who we really
are and this is like two different people meeting and making friends and sharing a meal together.
Walcott presents this in terms of the love feast or Eucharist of the Christian church Eat...Give wine.

this is also an imperative which would suggest that they are divine and so have a

The first line in Love.. is,
The time will come
When, with elation,
You will greet yourself arriving,

a line foretelling that eventually you will recognise who you are.
Whether this will take a mirror or whether a person will realise who they really are through their
own head and deep inside their own souls. It also suggests that you shouldn t care about others
opinions with the line in your own mirror.. which makes you wonder How do I see myself?
which I thought could be trying to question basic human ideas, why do people look at who they
are in the first person, why is the person whose eyes they see through them?! What makes them
that individual? The answers here are clear, a love for life, for one s self and what they feel within
their soul. Both poems, I felt used techniques to suggest being unique. For example, In This Room
the author uses extensive use of caesura, using punctuation in the middle of a line, and enjambment,
a technique by which you don t use normal punctuation at the end of each sentence, thus creating a
flowing and textured piece of poetry. With these techniques, Dharker has created flowing text, I
think that this might be a suggestion that life flows quickly and that you should take advantage of it
because of this.

The Road Of The Trail Of Tears
The Trail of Tears has been one of the most controversial government sponsored events in
American History. Was America justified in destroying a culture in its pursuit of Manifest Destiny,
or did they feel it was their only option in this matter at the time? Based on research, I feel that the
American policy of Indian removal and relocation was extremely unethical and unjustified in its
motives and execution. Before Europeans arrived in present day America, the Native Americans
were living on millions of acres of land their ancestors had occupied and cultivated. Many Native
Americans were initially somewhat willing to share land with original settlers. However, when

Despite the Native s attempts to conform to society, they were still discriminated against, losing

One person who lived a life that greatly resembled Gregor is Joseph Merrick, the Elephant Man.

him to the point that his skin resembled an elephant. There were bony growths on his face and
body. From difficulty moving around to challenges with communications, there are many

Gregor s family found his attempts to talk annoying and irritating. An inability to communicate
easily is a huge blow for someone trying to retain some humanity.
One great difference between the two men is that Merrick was able to communicate if he had
something to write on, whereas Gregor was not able to communicate well at all. Merrick wrote
letters to people who he had met and notes to the doctors and staff at the hospital where he spent
most of his adult life (Treves 1). Gregor tried to communicate by pushing things around, like his
food, and separating the stuff he wanted from what he didn t, so his sister would know what to
bring him. His sister seemed to understand this system of communications as she adjusted his
food accordingly, this made it more difficult for him when she stopped picking up on his hints
and did the minimum possible to keep him alive. He also pushed things around his room and hid
when people were coming in; this showed that he understood that they didn t want to see him.
Another major difference between the two men was that Gregor always had a place to live.
Merrick s father and step mother kicked him out of the house when he was 15. After that, he
lived with an uncle for a while, but when the uncle s family got too large to support another
person he went to a workhouse (Howell Ford 51). Gregor always had a place to live, it was the

I wasn t able to look at the positive aspects of a relationship with someone who passed until I was
able to start to really grieve their death and the loss of the future with them before I was able to

Child And Teen Beauty Pageants
It is not easy to be in the public s eye and constantly being watched can take a toll on a person.
Hundreds of child stars have grown up to be consumed with depression, eating disorders, drug
and alcohol addiction, and severe self esteem issues. So why would children that perform in
child and teen beauty pageants be any different? They are constantly being judged by their
looks, their actions, their poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on.
That could severely affect the way these children see themselves as they get older. When a child
is constantly being watched and criticized in every aspect, they develop a complex and a need to
be perfect, when in fact perfection does not exist. This is when their depression or drug addictions
might seep in, when they realize they can never live up to the standards that others have set on
them. This is a very dangerous place to be, and no child or teenager should have to suffer through
such a time as this. Childhood should be full of playing outside with friends, going to the pool or
amusement park, visiting the beach or the mountains with family. It shouldn t consist of
maintaining perfection with all the fakeness day in and day out, or there could be some very real
consequences that might follow. Although there are massive amounts of negatives that go along
with child beauty pageants, there are also some positive aspects to them. Some women have gained

The Reality Of British Television Programs
When thinking of British television programs, it is impossible for one not to think of the
international hit, Doctor Who. Originally debuting in 1963 under the British Broadcasting

another white male and two white females. Doctor Whoaired during the 1960 s when Great Britain
was still recovering from the destruction of World War II and was also facing the reality that they
were not the world power they once were. Also, large influx of immigrations were entering Great
Britain during this period. Class, gender, and racial prejudices were extremely prevalent within
society and Doctor Who was no exception. Yet eventually attitudes change and the producers of
the show understood that to remain relevant within popular culture, they would also need to
change. Even though, Doctor Who has made strives over the past five decades to create a more
inclusive television program, they still lack in accurate representation of society. During the 1960
s, Great Britain was coming to terms with the decline of their once massive empire as well as
overall lose of world power. The United States of America and the Soviet Union were now the
dominating powers, leaving Great Britain frustrated. That is where media stepped in the help
counteract this fact. British television and films were made to demonstrate the power and

How The Design Of Respiratory System Facilitates Gas...
ВВDESCRIBE HOW THE DESIGN OF RESPIRATORY SYSTEM FACILITATES GAS
EXCHANGE?
The most vital phenomenon of life is respiration. Without respiration life is impossible. Respiratory
System, consisting of a number of organs in human body which is taking the function of
respiration. These organs include mouth, nasal passage, glottis, trachea, larynx, pharynx, bronchi,
bronchioles, alveoli and last but not the least the LUNGS. Other supporting orangs are ribs,
intercostal muscles, diagram and cilia.
In the following lines, we ll discuss in detail about these organs and their functions and how the
design of whole RESPIRATORY SYSTEMfacilitates gaseous exchange.
The respiratory system is a group of organs that work together to bring the exchange of oxygen
and carbon dioxide into and from the blood. Its main function is to transport oxygen into the body
and the excrete carbon dioxide out of the body. Respiration can occur at two separate levels, the
level of the cell (internal respiration) and the level of the organism (external respiration). Internal
respiration is the exchange of gases between the blood and body cells. External respiration, more
commonly known as breathing, is the exchange of gases between the air and the blood in the lungs.
The respiratory system can be divided into two parts, the upper and the lower respiratory tracts. The
upper respiratory tract consists of the organs which lie outside the chest cavity and these include:
the nasal cavity, the pharynx, the larynx

The Genius of M.C. Escher Essays
The Genius of M.C. Escher
Mathematics is the central ingredient in many artworks. While notions of infinity and parallel lines
brought perspective to the artistic realm in creating realistic representations of depth and
dimension, mathematics has influenced art in a more definite way by actually becoming art. The
introduction of fractal geometry and tessellations as creative works spawned the creation of new
and innovative genres of art, which can be exemplified through the works of M.C Escher. Escher s
pieces are among the most recognized works of art today. While visually stimulating and deeply
meaningful, his art reflects many ideas of mathematics through geometry, symmetry, and patterns.

He once said, Although I am absolute innocent of training or knowledge in the exact sciences, I

Finally, in 1930, Escher received widespread acclaim for his lithograph entitled Castrovolva. He
continued to incorporate geometry and patterns in his pieces, and found that his work began to be
displayed in science museums rather than art galleries. From 1951 1954 Escher completed some
400 works, by this time a prominent figure in the world of art, the majority of which included such
mathematical principles as polyhedra, infinity, knots, and tessellations.
A polygon is a closed figure bounded by three or more straight line segments. A polyhedron is a
geometric entity composed of polygons connected at their edges to enclose space. Among the most
popular piece that exemplifies the use of polyhedra is entitled Gravity (Figure 1: http:/
/library.advanced.org/16661/escher/trends/1/html) In this Escher work, dinosaur like creatures
emerge from a series of pyramids fit together like a star.
Along with polyhedrons, Escher also incorporated the idea of infinity into numerous pieces.
Fascinated by the concept of bounding infinity, that is representing infinity in an enclosed plane,
Escher attempted to demonstrate this in his work. He once

The wife is not happy about the way Morton handled the situation when they walked away. It is
shown that she is very disappointed with her husbands behavior, because he is just a coward who
is running from his problems. Furthermore she is disappointed because her husband is not able to
fight his own battles, she want him to be strong and fight his own fights, instead of just running
away. (Page 99 Line 27 32).
The theme in the story is that you have to be aware of problems in relationships. Things you never
have thought about can turn into problems. So that means that when you enter a relationship you
have to be ready to deal with some little problems, which can turn into bigger problems. It can be
seen in the story, where the wife is in love with Morton and nothing is wrong between them. But
when Morton lost the conflict, the wife got angry on

How Doyle Create Suspense In The Hound Of The Baskervilles
Fabricated from the essence of his thoughts, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle revolutionized the mystery
genre, as we know it, in his stunning novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles. When read, Doyle s
readers embark on a journey to the filthy, crime filled streets of Victorian London and the
mysterious moor of the Baskervilles where unknown entities lurk. But most of all, readers come
face to face with the man himself, the greatest detective of all time, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Since it
first came out, Sir Arthur Conan Doyles world renown mystery, The Hound of the Baskervilles, has
not failed to delight mystery readers. In fact, readers have enjoyed the novel so much that it has
become multiple movies. However, David Attwood s film stands out from the others... Show more

As an author, it is typically harder to create suspense, but Doyle does an excellent job. With the
use of red herrings, superstition, cliffhangers, and more, Doyle creates an atmosphere of tension
and suspense. An example of one of these techniques is seen through the red herring: Selden. As
soon as the word got out that Selden had broken out of jail, he was easily taken as a suspect to
readers. However, In the movie, Selden causes more suspense by breaking into Baskerville Hall
to get some food. Another example of Doyle creating suspense in the novel was through the
cliffhanger: the man on the tor. Doyle creates suspense through this by leaving the readers
wondering who was it that Watson saw on the tor. Although Doyle creates suspense pretty well,
Attwood creates even more. One major asset that Attwood has is sound effects and noise. This is
extremely efficient because Attwood can make the things that Doyle does even better. For
example, when the scene about Selden escaping happens, sound effects such as sirens and yelling,
make his escape more suspenseful. In the same way, Attwood uses sound effects for things such as
the howling of the hound on the moor, or the screaming of victims. Although Attwood creates a lot
of suspense through sound effects, I m sure that both Doyle and Attwood would agree that maybe
the most effective way of creating suspense is through character actions and nature. In both the
movie and the novel, in the resolution, a wave of fog appears before the hound arrives. In the
novel, Holmes even says, the one thing upon earth which could have disarranged my plans.... Our
success and even his life may depend upon his coming out before the fog is over the path. (218) In
this moment, the readers wait for the beast to strike as Doyle takes away their breath. This clearly
creates suspension and tension in both

Marcuses Account of the Features and Significance of True...
Modern capitalist society is the target of severe criticism in Herbert Marcuse s book, One
Dimensional Man. As one would hope, Marcuse s intent is not merely to point out the shortcomings
of the present system. He further hopes to encourage change in the most basic features of society,
and with the intent to effect change arises the question of what goals the proposed change is
directed towards. Primary among his goals is the quot;development and satisfaction of human needs
and faculties quot; (xliii). Which of the wide rangeof human faculties are worthy of development?
This question obviously requires value judgmentsto be made; any answer will be highly subjective
or very complex, and probably both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because they are imposed on human mentality rather then inherent in the human condition, the
needs which arise within an individual in this way are not truly necessary. Marcuse s term for these
unnecessary needs is quot;false needs. quot; It seems a feature of his definition that quot;false
needs quot; are distinguished by their being imposed on the individual by social interests beyond
her own control. To this definition Marcuse adds the contention that such needs are invariably
harmful, a point which requires empirical support. He writes that these conditioned needs are
quot;the needs which perpetuate toil, aggressiveness, misery, and injustice quot; (5). How does this
happen?
One can view Marcuse s account of the harm arising from the creation of false needs as a direct
reponse to an anticipated objection by an adherent of liberal political theory. The liberal theorist
might argue that providing certain basic freedoms, perhaps a right to self determination, must be
the primary goal of society. This goal must take precedence over other aspects of human life, and
the liberal theorist might even argue that bodily sustenance is worthless without basic freedoms.
Marcuse s argument in opposition to this possible view is the idea that quot;freedom from want
quot; is quot;the concrete substance of all freedom quot; (1). This

How Did Women s Clothing Change Throughout The Civil War
Throughout the Civil War, there were many creative advancements, but one that goes unnoticed a
lot was the growth of fashion. During the war, fashion, though still quite extravagant, was
somewhat more muted. Because there was a war going on, many people had to make sacrifices
and save formal wear for going out to somewhere fancy. But even during war, there was still a
clear difference between those who had money to wear nice clothes and those who did not, and
those who lived in the city versus those who lived in the country. There were many new pieces of
fashiondeveloping at the time, especially with women s clothing. There may have been a war going
on, but fashion was still a form of art that was thriving during that time. In the war, women s
clothes were the clothes that differed a lot from the previous decade or two. These clothes were
still formal and extravagant, but they were less colorful this could be because everyone was
mourning / praying for their loved ones.
Nonetheless, women still had ludicrous clothing. First, they would put on 7 layers of underclothes,

The first type of coat was the civilian frock coat. This was used as a formal wear coat for a
common man, but for a rich man, this was simply an everyday coat. It is believed to have been
of military origin. The second type of coat was the Civilian Morning Coat. It was used for
formal occasions in the morning and early afternoon, but other than that, it was common,
everyday wear. Then, there was the Tailcoat. This is long and sleek, and it for formal wear only.
And the last coat was the Sack Coat and Sack Suit. This was worn by common businessmen
during everyday, working hours. The main purpose of this coat was to cover a man s shirt sleeves,
because if a man showed his sleeves in front of any lady other than his wife, he would be

Courts Essay
The jurisdiction of the federal courts is defined in Article III, Section 2, of the Constitution, as
extending in law and equity to all cases arising under the Constitution and federal legislation; to
controversies to which the U.S. shall be a party, including those arising from treaties with other
governments; to admiralty and maritime cases; to controversiesbetween states; to controversies
between a state, or its citizens, and foreign governments or their subjects; and to controversies
between the citizens of one state and citizens of another state. The federal courtswere also originally

Other federal courts, established by Congress under powers held to be implied in other articles of
the Constitution, are called legislative courts. These are the Claims Court, the Court of
International Trade, the Tax Court, and the territorial courts established in the federally
administered territories of the U.S. The special jurisdictions of these courts are defined by the U.S.
Congress. Except in the case of the territorial courts, which are courts of general jurisdiction, the
special jurisdictions of these courts are suggested by their titles.
State Courts
Each state has an independent system of courts operating under the constitution and laws of the
state. Broadly speaking, the state courts are based on the English judicial system as it existed in
colonial times, but as modified by statutory enactment s; the character and names of the courts
differ from state to state. The state courts as a whole have general jurisdiction, except in cases in
which exclusive jurisdiction has been vested in the federal courts. In cases involving the federal
Constitution or federal laws or treaties, the state courts are governed by the decisions of the
Supreme Court and their decisions are subject to review

Should Innocent People Be Convicted With Only...
I think people should not be convicted with only circumstantial evidence. Most of the time people
that are convicted are convicted with circumstantial evidence are innocent. My three supporting
ideas are that circumstantial evidence is not enough it should be direct evidence, using
circumstantial evidence will most likely convict an innocent person, and it does not point to one
person or party.
If the evidence is not accurate an innocent person will be convicted of a crime they did not commit.
For example, in the Brain Banks article Brain was convicted of a crime that never happened, he
was convicted with only circumstantial evidence. After Brain Banks served his six years in prison
Wanetta Gibson confessed that Brain Banks never rapped her.... Show more content on

Another example would be The Crucible. In The Crucible Abigail was doing witchcraft and was
caught. Abigail and her friends were being accused of witchcraft and in order to save their own
lives Abigail and her friends lied and named many innocent people. The innocent people Abigail
named were hanged with only circumstantial evidence, because it was all they had. Innocent people
can be executed by using circumstantial instead of direct evidence. (Source: The Crucible, Pg,19 21)
In the TedTalk Francisco Carrillo was convicted of murder, but all they had was photo of
Francisco Carrillo. Many eyewitnesses identified Francisco as the shooter this took place late at
night. The judge decided to go where the murder took place to only find out that it was not
possible to see the shooter because of how dark it was no matter how close the car was the judge
still could not see the shooter. Francisco Carrillo was not convicted because the evidence they had
was not enough to be able to convict Francisco. (source: TedTalk Pg,

Essay about Life Changing Trip
In the summer of 2006 I was inspired to do something that inherently would never have even
crossed my mind. I was born and bred to be risk averse. My parents, the resolute material
providers that they are, taught me not to fend for myself, but rather to avoid confrontation
altogether. Their eastern culture centric and old fashioned way of child rearing has had a profound
effect on the way I lived my life. However, their penchant for negative reinforcement and their
inability to show physical affection never impeded me on having a fulfilling and moderately
successful life. One great void, or what I perceived as such, was my lack of worldly experience. I
was eligible to apply for a US passport for at least five years before I finally decided... Show more

I often wonder what type of person I would have been had I stayed in Taiwan and grew up
without the rigors and challenges that come with blending into a new culture. Only in hindsight
do I realize that having spent most of my formative years trying to be like everyone else around
me, I never allowed my inner self to grow. I was never encouraged by my parents to be
inquisitive, to explore the unknown, and to dare to be different. I have no doubt they were all
of those things themselves, because they are both extraordinary persons, having achieved
measurable success by capturing the American Dream. When I sat down with them over
Thanksgiving break, I interviewed them and confirmed that what they wanted was the best for
me The path of least resistance (1) and they felt obliged to provide that path by shielding and
guiding me away from the unknown, even though they endured and prospered from their
worldly experiences. In 2006 I finally decided to take a chance and dared to be different. This
led me to a chain of decisions that literally brings me here today. First, my employer
propositioned me to move to New York City to work for our New York office. Had they asked a
year prior, I probably would have declined the offer due to my fear of the unknown and risk
aversive nature, but not in 2006. With little consultation and input from my parents I took that leap
of faith. Coinciding with this major decision was a dear friend s wedding in London in the

Henry Morton Stanley s Impact Upon Imperialist Congo
For Europeans, the African Congo was a land full of unsolved mysteries and intriguing economic
prospects in the second half of the 19th century. It was the last region of Africa to be explored by
Europeans; for over 400 years, Europeans had attempted time and time again to explore the region,
and yet all had succumbed to unbearable hardships and impassible terrain. It is likely that this
region would have remained unexplored until very recently if it were not for a man named Henry
Morton Stanley. Stanley was the first European explorer to lead a successful journey into Congo,
overcoming the unbelievable probability of failure to open up the heart of tropical Africa to
European imperialism. However, his journey was neither smooth nor... Show more content on

However, before he began his association with the Belgian Congo, he first made a second
journey to Africa to explore today s D.R. Congo and Uganda after briefly traveling to London to
reinforce his supplies. He began this expedition with several hundred men, modern equipment,
and a state of the art ship. This time, Stanley opted for guns rather than whips to force his men
forward at a faster pace, as he was still in competition with other explorers and felt the pressure to
travel at a rapid pace. Using this tactic, Stanley was able to navigate Lake Victoria and follow the
Congo River all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. He became the first European to map these areas.
Satisfied with his work, he returned to Europe in 1878 (Bierman 176). Upon his return, Stanley
was hailed as the man who had resolved one of the greatest exploration mysteries, found Dr.
Livingstone, and eventually became the catalyst to what would become a significant example of
imperialism s influence upon Europe s subject peoples. Factories could now utilize material goods
from Congo, exploit the peoples of Africa, and increase income from trade an immeasurable
amount. Stanley received a hero s welcome everywhere he went; his works were widely published
and distributed to people in Europe and the United States. Encouraged by positive

Each generation presents us with the different varieties of artistic expression. The prevalence of
art impacting society has always been constant. With the many forms of artistic expression that
exist, it is also easy to see how an individual can test out the different options available to them
until finding a specific form that suits their tastes. When this happens, the artist and viewer create
a special mutually beneficial relationship. This is evident in the article, Memory, Money and
Persistence: Theater Of Social Change in Context written by Arlene Goldbard. . Goldbard used her

  • 2. How Is Chris Brander Presented In Just Friends The characters in the 2005 film, Just Friends are a very interesting bunch. They are all different in many ways but, somehow share some of the same qualities. The movies stars Ryan Reynolds, who portrays Chris Brander. Chris Brander is a well rounded character who somehow evolves as the movie goes on. Chris was in love with Jamie Palamino portrayed by Amy Smart; Jamie was a somewhat a flat characterwho did not change much at all. A character whose transformation was similar to Chris s was Dusty Dinkleman who was portrayed by Chris Klein. While it seems that Jamie and Samantha James have a one similarity by the name of Chris Brander. The main character Chris Brander was an evolving character he went through some pretty big changes both mentally and physically. As the movie starts, Chris is seen as this overweight, unpopular nerd in high school. He is in love with his best friend Jamie Palamino, a popular girl, who has officially Friend Zoned him. Guys are not born jerks and womanizers they turn into them, because of their experience with girls. They start off as nice little boys who likes the girl who only likes the Jerk who pulls her hair. Cuttlefish, along with octopuses and squid, are cephalopods animals from an ancient branch of the tree of life that have been trolling the oceans for more than 500 million years. Cuttlefish were around long before the first shark or fish ever evolved. In the book Blackburn takes a wide ranging, historical approach, discussing lust as viewed by Aristophanes and Plato, lust in the light of the Stoic mistrust of emotion, and the Christian fear of the flesh that catapulted lustto the level of deadly sin. He describes how philosophical pessimists like Schopenhauer and Sartre contributed to our thinking about lust and explores the false starts in understanding lust represented by Freud, Kinsey, and modern evolutionary psychology. This resurgence of trade interest resulted in a demand for foreign goods and exploration of water routes. This Age of Exploration united the Americas with Europe, Asia, and Africa. The exchanges were plentiful and stabilizing for many communities. However, along with the positive influences, came the negative aspects, which impacted cultures and civilizations around the world. European exploration changed travel, trade, health, religion, language, architecture, the economy, and humanity. It is this author s position that the positive influences and contributions have had a greater impact on growth and development globally than the challenges presented. Historically, the Age of Exploration shaped the world as we know it today. Many positive effects for the Age of Exploration can be identified. Historical discoveries and persuasive revelations shaped every continent. Referring to the Island of Espanola, Columbus wrote, It will serve as a place to which (colonists) can return and from which they can carry on trade with the neighboring islands (Document 1). • 10. The Cost Of The Cadillac Tax Intentions of the Tax One of the primary goals of the Cadillac tax is to reduce the growing costs of national health care (Lowry 2015). The government is hopeful that implementation of the Cadillac tax will reduce overall health care expenditures and impede the growth of health care costs by encouraging a change in consumer behavior through discouraging the provision and obtainment of overly generous health coverage plans (Herring, 2011). Generally, individuals who are insured spend greater amounts on health care than those who are not as they can consume greater amounts of healthcare with a lesser personal burden. In the case that the insurance provided to an individual is overly generous, it encourages over spending on health care due to the fact that they incur a only a portion of costs of consumption. In this manner, the consumption of an inefficient amount of health care is perpetuated by the provision of overly generous health care coverage. This inefficiency and associated increase in demand for healthcare causes the price of healthcare to rise, which exacerbates the undesirable growth in national health care costs (Gravelle, 2015). The Cadillac taxaims to discourage the provision and obtainment of overly generous health care coverage by employers in an effort to decrease inefficient over consumption of health care and stagnate the growth in healthcare costs. The intent of the Cadillac tax is to alter consumer behavior to decrease the provision of unnecessarily ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Airport Perimeter Security Airport operations, with the assistance and oversight of the Transportation Safety Administration (TSA) are responsible for securing approximately 450 commercial airports in the United States. Security breaches frequently occur when aviation employees misuse access privileges to smuggle drugs and weapons onto planes and into restricted locations. While the majority of securityefforts are focused on TSA screening checkpoints, recent incidents in unsecure areas have heighted threat awareness and concerns. Consequently, many questions were raised following an active shooter incident that occurred in a baggage claim area of the Fort Lauderdale Hollywood International Airport on January 6, 2017. • 12. Why You Should Buy An Apple Macintosh Computer Essay Do you own a computer? What kind of computer is it? Is it a Microsoft PC, running Windows Vista? Or is it an Apple Macintosh running Mac OS X? Using a PC can be such a hassle. Macintosh computers are so much better and easier to use than a PC. Macs also are better for the planet, have a longer lifespan, have more reliable hardware, are less likely to crash or get viruses, have better security features, it s very easy to transfer all your files from a PC to a Mac, and a Mac can be a PC if you really wanted it too. But I will explain that last one later. First, I will tell you about how the build of the Macintoshcomputer is a big reason of the rapid growth of Macs. In 2007, 2008, and 2009, Apple s Macbook, Macbook Pro, and I Mac (their... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Apple does admit they have come across some security flaws, but within a day of the flaws discovery Apple creates a security update, and every single Mac user gets a notification from Apple saying that there is a flaw and an update available that can correct it. And personally, I think one of the reasons Mac is so successful is because of their hardware. For example, lets pretend I bought a new PC. Dell made the monitor and tower. Mircosoft made the hardware and operating system. Intel made the processor. Nvidia made the graphics drive. And the consumer is the one putting everything together. The average desktop PC takes 2.5 hours to put together, and you re the one who has to do it! If you do one thing wrong you could cut your computer s life in half. This type of action would not be anywhere close to normal in a city or any sort of large town. It really could only happen at Snow Lake. Snow Lake is obviously very isolated because of its distance from a larger town but it is also very isolated due to its geographic location. Snow Lake is located in Desha County; however, Elaine, Marvell, and Helena West Helena are all a part of Phillips County. Zionists had been working toward this goal for decades, but only won decisive international support in the aftermath of the Holocaust, a catastrophe that supported the Zionist argument that the Jewish people would only be safe in their own state, where they could live as they chose and defend their culture. Indeed, the Holocaust was the single most important factor in the creation of Israel, in large part because the international community was shocked by the scale of the Holocaust and felt responsible for aiding the Zionist project. Centuries before the Zionist movement claimed its name, the Jewish people ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the early stages of the Zionist movement, Theodore Herzl, the founder and Father of Zionism , negotiated with Britain, a major world power at the time, to give up five thousand square miles of Uganda. In 1903, this idea was brought to the Zionists, which offered geographical protection and isolation from Russia. These negotiations, however, came to a halt when Herzl died in 1904. Months later, however, the cause did find potential in the area of Palestine. Palestine was remote enough that Jews had geographical protection and had suitable weather for agricultural purposes. Similarly, Palestine was religiously significant because it contained the holy land of Jerusalem. As a result, in a span of twelve years (1902 1914), the Zionists move around 70,000 Jews within two migration periods known as the First and Second Aliyahs. These major movements gave the Jews the manpower they needed to make a serious threat to the Palestinian forces. Nevertheless, WWI put a halt in the Zionist efforts until the end of the war in 1917. The Zionist movement is the movement that supported the belief that the Jewish people deserved a homeland of their own that was isolated from outside countries. The unharvested stand has not been cut in the past three decades so this factor should not affect the above ground carbon pool significantly, though it has likely been harvested more than the old growth forest stands sampled in Hoover et al. • 23. Summary Of John Steinbeck s East Of Eden In John Steinbeck s novel, East of Eden, one sees how past events such as the hostile interactions between brothers, Adam and Charles, effects the attributes of future characters such as Cal. These proceedings mold and form Cal s character, influencing not only his actions, but also his resonating self condemnation at the end of the novel. Without these former occurrences, the reader would be otherwise blind to the curse of the brothers as seen through the parable of Cain and Abeland to the overriding theme of good versus evil presented not only in the brother s relationship but also in the scenery of the Salinas Valley. Furthermore, from the very beginning of the novel, it is obvious, that there was always a favorite brother. In Adam s childhood, he persisted to be the favorite child of Cyrus Trask. Good hearted and trusting of others, unlike his stolid and unemotional brother, Charles, Adam got a seemingly innocent gift for his father s birthday, a pup, a gift that would service his father until the day he died. This personalistic gift unlike Charles materialistic gift of a knife, for which Cyrus Trask never used or admired, serves to be the wedge between the two and the ultimate reasoning behind the various beatings Adam received as a child. This past occurrence unfortunately continues to the present and forms Cal s character, a jealous son looking to gain his father s love, a heart already stolen by Aron, a similar personality to that of his youthful father. However, although apparent as Adam s favorite might be, it is Cal s decision on how to cope with this obvious choice. Likewise, to envious Charles, who acted only out of violence, Cal acts out of anger, bringing his only brother to the place that would hurt him the most, his mother s whorehouse. This reoccurring theme of good versus evil guides Cal future decisions in terms of being the person he wants to be and refuting the overwhelming curse of brothers. Moreover, just as Cal and Aron relate to their father and his brother, Charles, they also fall under a biblical or brotherhood curse . The story of Cain and Abel depicts two brothers, one who s fueled by jealousy (Cain), kills his brother over the favoritism God had on the two gifts presented ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As few as 10 years ago the term social media was yet to be coined, but within that decade the use of these blogs, websites and sharing platforms has increased exponentially with no plateau in sight. From creating Instagram accounts for household pets, to sharing Halloween themed baking ideas over Pinterest, people today have access to social media outlets for almost everything. Today about 74% of people ages 18 65 use some form of a social networking site (Pew, 2014). Facebook takes the lead in social media usage with about 71% of those adults. LinkedIn and Pinterest are tied for second at 28% of users, 26% use Instagram, and Twitter falls last in the top 5 most used social medias with 23% of users (Pew, 2014). In September of 2013 the Pew Research Center measured that 90% of adults ages 18 29 used these social media outlets on a daily basis, which is an astonishing increase from the 9% that was measured in February 2005 (Pew, 2014). Several theories about international trade explain why countries have the opportunity to trade, theory of comparative advantage and absolute advantage. Adam Smith came up with the theory of absolute advantage where the country that produces more of one good that another country has simply an absolute advantage over it. This theory normally constructed with two commodities and two countries. In Schuhmachers article Adam Smith s theory of absolute advantage and the use of doxography in the history of economicshe says, each nation can produce one good with less expenditure of human labor than the other and thus more cheaply. This means it does not matter if country A can produce more overall than country B, as long as B can produce it more efficiently than country A. Country B will choose to produce that product and then trade it with country A. When a country focuses on a good that it is efficient in producing for a lower price then they increase national income and company s increase profits. An example of comparative advantage: Country A can produce 28 bikes and 4 radios, Country B can produce 32 bikes and 12 radios. Country B has an absolute advantage in both products but it has a comparative advantage specifically in radios because it can efficiently produce 3 times more for less than Country A (Economics Online, 2017.) Both theories have the positive effect of making economies that trade grow. Trade makes a price range below the local price possible. Furthermore, the exporting country can produce more and the importing country can use its resources on other products in which it is better at producing. However, because trade prices of foreign goods are lower local goods will experience lower demand. This is one of the reasons for a trade restriction the government of a country will help maintain local businesses. Factor Proportion theory was originally created by two Swedish economists. They are constantly being judged by their looks, their actions, their poise and posture, their attitude and behaviors, the list goes on and on. The respiratory system is a group of organs that work together to bring the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide into and from the blood. Its main function is to transport oxygen into the body and the excrete carbon dioxide out of the body. Respiration can occur at two separate levels, the level of the cell (internal respiration) and the level of the organism (external respiration). Internal respiration is the exchange of gases between the blood and body cells. External respiration, more commonly known as breathing, is the exchange of gases between the air and the blood in the lungs. • 38. Sunday In The Park Theme Sunday in the park is a story written by Bel Kaufmann, which was published in 1985. The story presents two conflicts, the first conflict is between two different families, and the other conflict is how to distinguish between right and wrong. The wife is a very caring woman. She believes that you must behave properly, even if it is in a public sandbox. It can be seen by this quote: We mustn t throw sand. It may get in someones eyes and hurt, we must play nicely in the nice sandbox (Page 97, line 19 20). Therefore is she a very caring woman, she would like to teach Larry how to fix his own problems with his bullies. When she told the bully to stop throwing sand at her child, the boy s father came and told his son that it was alright to throw sand. After it happened, she got nervous and ... Slowly and with head high she walked with her husband and child out of the playground. (Page 99, line 6 10). The wife is not happy about the way Morton handled the situation when they walked away. It is shown that she is very disappointed with her husbands behavior, because he is just a coward who is running from his problems. Furthermore she is disappointed because her husband is not able to fight his own battles, she want him to be strong and fight his own fights, instead of just running away. (Page 99 Line 27 32). The theme in the story is that you have to be aware of problems in relationships. Things you never have thought about can turn into problems. So that means that when you enter a relationship you have to be ready to deal with some little problems, which can turn into bigger problems. It can be seen in the story, where the wife is in love with Morton and nothing is wrong between them. But when Morton lost the conflict, the wife got angry on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. How Doyle Create Suspense In The Hound Of The Baskervilles Fabricated from the essence of his thoughts, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle revolutionized the mystery genre, as we know it, in his stunning novel, The Hound of the Baskervilles. When read, Doyle s readers embark on a journey to the filthy, crime filled streets of Victorian London and the mysterious moor of the Baskervilles where unknown entities lurk. But most of all, readers come face to face with the man himself, the greatest detective of all time, Mr. Sherlock Holmes. Since it first came out, Sir Arthur Conan Doyles world renown mystery, The Hound of the Baskervilles, has not failed to delight mystery readers. In fact, readers have enjoyed the novel so much that it has become multiple movies. However, David Attwood s film stands out from the others... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As an author, it is typically harder to create suspense, but Doyle does an excellent job. With the use of red herrings, superstition, cliffhangers, and more, Doyle creates an atmosphere of tension and suspense. An example of one of these techniques is seen through the red herring: Selden. As soon as the word got out that Selden had broken out of jail, he was easily taken as a suspect to readers. However, In the movie, Selden causes more suspense by breaking into Baskerville Hall to get some food. Another example of Doyle creating suspense in the novel was through the cliffhanger: the man on the tor. Doyle creates suspense through this by leaving the readers wondering who was it that Watson saw on the tor. Although Doyle creates suspense pretty well, Attwood creates even more. One major asset that Attwood has is sound effects and noise. This is extremely efficient because Attwood can make the things that Doyle does even better. For example, when the scene about Selden escaping happens, sound effects such as sirens and yelling, make his escape more suspenseful. In the same way, Attwood uses sound effects for things such as the howling of the hound on the moor, or the screaming of victims. Although Attwood creates a lot of suspense through sound effects, I m sure that both Doyle and Attwood would agree that maybe the most effective way of creating suspense is through character actions and nature. In both the movie and the novel, in the resolution, a wave of fog appears before the hound arrives. In the novel, Holmes even says, the one thing upon earth which could have disarranged my plans.... Our success and even his life may depend upon his coming out before the fog is over the path. (218) In this moment, the readers wait for the beast to strike as Doyle takes away their breath. This clearly creates suspension and tension in both ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Marcuses Account of the Features and Significance of True... Modern capitalist society is the target of severe criticism in Herbert Marcuse s book, One Dimensional Man. As one would hope, Marcuse s intent is not merely to point out the shortcomings of the present system. He further hopes to encourage change in the most basic features of society, and with the intent to effect change arises the question of what goals the proposed change is directed towards. Primary among his goals is the quot;development and satisfaction of human needs and faculties quot; (xliii). Which of the wide rangeof human faculties are worthy of development? This question obviously requires value judgmentsto be made; any answer will be highly subjective or very complex, and probably both... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Because they are imposed on human mentality rather then inherent in the human condition, the needs which arise within an individual in this way are not truly necessary. Marcuse s term for these unnecessary needs is quot;false needs. quot; It seems a feature of his definition that quot;false needs quot; are distinguished by their being imposed on the individual by social interests beyond her own control. To this definition Marcuse adds the contention that such needs are invariably harmful, a point which requires empirical support. He writes that these conditioned needs are quot;the needs which perpetuate toil, aggressiveness, misery, and injustice quot; (5). How does this happen? One can view Marcuse s account of the harm arising from the creation of false needs as a direct reponse to an anticipated objection by an adherent of liberal political theory. The liberal theorist might argue that providing certain basic freedoms, perhaps a right to self determination, must be the primary goal of society. This goal must take precedence over other aspects of human life, and the liberal theorist might even argue that bodily sustenance is worthless without basic freedoms. Marcuse s argument in opposition to this possible view is the idea that quot;freedom from want quot; is quot;the concrete substance of all freedom quot; (1). This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During the war, fashion, though still quite extravagant, was somewhat more muted. Because there was a war going on, many people had to make sacrifices and save formal wear for going out to somewhere fancy. But even during war, there was still a clear difference between those who had money to wear nice clothes and those who did not, and those who lived in the city versus those who lived in the country. Most of the time people that are convicted are convicted with circumstantial evidence are innocent. My three supporting ideas are that circumstantial evidence is not enough it should be direct evidence, using circumstantial evidence will most likely convict an innocent person, and it does not point to one person or party. If the evidence is not accurate an innocent person will be convicted of a crime they did not commit. For example, in the Brain Banks article Brain was convicted of a crime that never happened, he was convicted with only circumstantial evidence. My parents, the resolute material providers that they are, taught me not to fend for myself, but rather to avoid confrontation altogether. Their eastern culture centric and old fashioned way of child rearing has had a profound effect on the way I lived my life. However, their penchant for negative reinforcement and their inability to show physical affection never impeded me on having a fulfilling and moderately successful life. I was never encouraged by my parents to be inquisitive, to explore the unknown, and to dare to be different. I have no doubt they were all of those things themselves, because they are both extraordinary persons, having achieved measurable success by capturing the American Dream. When I sat down with them over Thanksgiving break, I interviewed them and confirmed that what they wanted was the best for me The path of least resistance (1) and they felt obliged to provide that path by shielding and guiding me away from the unknown, even though they endured and prospered from their worldly experiences. Henry Morton Stanley s Impact Upon Imperialist Congo For Europeans, the African Congo was a land full of unsolved mysteries and intriguing economic prospects in the second half of the 19th century. It was the last region of Africa to be explored by Europeans; for over 400 years, Europeans had attempted time and time again to explore the region, and yet all had succumbed to unbearable hardships and impassible terrain. It is likely that this region would have remained unexplored until very recently if it were not for a man named Henry Morton Stanley. However, before he began his association with the Belgian Congo, he first made a second journey to Africa to explore today s D.R. Congo and Uganda after briefly traveling to London to reinforce his supplies. He began this expedition with several hundred men, modern equipment, and a state of the art ship. This time, Stanley opted for guns rather than whips to force his men forward at a faster pace, as he was still in competition with other explorers and felt the pressure to travel at a rapid pace. Using this tactic, Stanley was able to navigate Lake Victoria and follow the Congo River all the way to the Atlantic Ocean. He became the first European to map these areas. Satisfied with his work, he returned to Europe in 1878 (Bierman 176). Upon his return, Stanley was hailed as the man who had resolved one of the greatest exploration mysteries, found Dr. Livingstone, and eventually became the catalyst to what would become a significant example of imperialism s influence upon Europe s subject peoples.
