Genesis 6-13 Research Paper
As a descendant of Adam and Eve, Noah was both a blameless and righteous man who faithfully
walked alongside the Lord. Unlike the others in his generation, Noah did not allow the wickedness
to enter into his own life, and God sought favor in this. Genesis 6: 13 reveals the discussion
between God to Noah, revealing his plan to destroy every living thing under the heavens due to
the violence that seeps in the lives of all creations. The Lord instructed Noah to build an ark out
of cypress wood, accommodating the dimensions of forty five feet long, seventy five feet wide,
and forty five feet high. One the construction was completed the Lord revealed the occupants of
the ark. The individuals chosen to accompany Noah during the flood were his wife, Noah s three
sons and their wives, along with a single pair of all unclean animals, and seven pairs of all clean
animals. The Lord then instructs Noah and his occupants to enter into the ark, affirming, Seven

Every living creation perished, leaving Noah and the other occupants of the ark as the only
remaining creatures on the earth. The waters cleansed the earth from all sin, giving the Lord a
fresh start to a more awe inspiring and passionate coexistence between future generations. After a
year and seventeen days on the ark, the Lord instructed Noah and his family to bring the animals
out onto the newly cleansed land so that they can be fruitful and increase in numbers. Once the
task was complete, Noah set out on a task of building an altar and made a sacrificial burnt
offering from some of the clean animals and presented it to the Lord. The Lord then proclaimed
that never again would he curse the ground or destroy all living creatures due to the wickedness
and evil that could once again fill the hearts of his living

Morality After World War 2 Essay
this as morally wrong, because she viewed this action as her duty, which she could not refuse
(Lower, 153). Moreover, party leaders seemed to rely on individual s sense of emulous nature, in
addition to their sense of duty. Once again, Lower recounts another individual s recollection of her
experience during the war:
I seldom came into contact with other women, so that in the course of this time I became more
hardened, desensitized. I did not want to stand behind the SS men. I wanted to show them that I, as
a woman, could conduct myself like a man. So I shot four Jews and six Jewish children. I wanted
to prove myself to the men (Lower, 155).
While it may seem incomprehensible to us now, as it certainly is to me, the extent to which
individuals are capable and willing to commit unspeakable acts against their fellow human beings
can be understood by the enormous influence of authority and their misuse of human traits.
Healing After the War
After the conclusion of World War II, it took many years for countries to rebuild their economies

A Lady of Letters and Cream Cracker under the Settee by Alan Bennett The two monologues I
am going to be writing about are two elderly women who are lonely and trapped in their own
homes. I will be talking about how Doris, one lady from Cream cracker under the settee and
Irene, the other lady in Lady of letters are suffering from loneliness. Doris and Irene both live
alone. They don t seem to have any special friends. For example, Irene doesn t like being people
calling her Irene. People who come across Irene must call her Miss.Ruddock; nobody has called her
Irene since her mother died. Only real friends may call Miss Ruddock Irene. But both Doris and
Irene have people who do you look out for them like the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like when she complained to the council about a curb being cracked, little things like this are
quite amusing to see such an intelligent women making a fuss. Irene and Doris also have some
things in common. They both have lost loved ones in their lives. This is an important story line
in both monologues, as I will explain later on. The music in these monologues feels the emotions
of what the characters are feeling. When there is a scene where Doris or Irene is happy, the
music will go along with the expressions. I could tell when the topic came up on the loved lost
ones it was a very dramatic time for Irene and Doris. The music drained out the room with a slow
deep beat of a bellow. This makes the monologues more realistic with the different types and
style of music, and with the pauses where no music is played at all. Cream cracker under the
settee and lady of letters are both set in houses. Which are very stereotypical houses for the
elderly, with the dull colours, except in these houses they have horrible bars on their windows that
couldn t make Doris and Irene feel very comfortable. There are a number of things I could write
for Doris and Irene, imprisonment, lack and loss and the endings of the monologues. But I have
chosen to go in deeply about the loneliness and how it has affected them. I feel that this topic is one
of the main structures of the monologues. IRENE Starting with

Legend Of Gallipoli
Hypothesis: In contrast to common societal belief, the Gallipoli Campaign had both a positive and
negative impact on Australian Society. By building the Anzac spirit, it distinguished Australia as its
own nation, built on a foundation of qualities embedded in this Anzac Legend. The nation advanced
socially and gained respect on a Global stage, but, Australiadid significantly decline economically
and the morals of praising a failed war are question by some.
Intro: As the battle died, the legend was born, and so was the nation. On the 28th of June, 1914,
Archduke of Austro Hungary, Franz Ferdinand was Assassinated by Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo
Princip in Sarajevo. The camel s back was finally broken after years of alliances and tensions, and

However, the costs of war were very damaging on the economy. In simple terms, the Anzac legend
is the commemoration of the Anzac spirit, born and developed throughout the eight months on the
battlefield of Gallipoli. The horrible situations, made the Anzacs strong and resilient, they had to
rely upon mateship and each other to get through. Their larrikinism also helped to keep many in as
good a mood as possible. Australia was very proud of their soldiers and aspired to be like them, this
meant that soon the whole country adopted the qualities of the Anzac spirit and the building of a
nation began. This nation was not the newly federated country that still was much divided into the
different qualities, Gallipoli fixed that two. Because man from all different backgrounds and states
fought together they were properly united and brought that attitude back home. The Anzac legend
has had a positive impact, defining what it means to be Australian, however how did Gallipoli an
WW1 impact on Australia socially and economically. The failed Gallipoli campaignmean that
bonds with Britain deteriorated, due to poor British leaderships, and the superiority that that
showed to Australians. By leaving the influence of Britain the nation was shaped more as an
individual country which allowed them to impress on an international stage. Other than the Anzac
legend, positive societal effects include; new industries with more jobs were developed, new
political groups and trade unions were created, a strong military tradition was established,
chemical and electrical industries were formed and women gained a higher role in society this

Using P element Induced Male Recombination to Generate a Deletion in the DMAP1 Gene on
Chromosome Two in Drosophila melanogaster
Abstract: The goal of this study was to induce a deletion in the DMAP1 gene on chromosome
two in Drosophila melanogaster through P element mobilization. The DMAP1 gene may be an
essential gene, however not much is known about it. We attempted to uncover the function of
DMAP1 by creating a series of genetic crosses and selecting for brown eyed non stubble male
flies that may have the deletion. To test whether these flies had the deletion, we produced PCR
products and ran them on an agarose gel, which resulted as inconclusive. We created a balanced
stock of flies homozygous for the deletion to see if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, wings clipped P elements that lack the inverted repeats (not able to be mobilized
themselves), which are not internally deleted and can produce a transposase source, can be
introduced to the internally deleted P element to provide transposase and therefore allow
transposition to occur. The provided transposase recognizes and binds to inverted repeats on the
internally deleted P element, which introduces nicks in the DNA beside the inverted repeats. This
allows the element to excise and insert into a new location. If it excises neatly out of the DNA, a
deletion will not occur. However, if it excises to a homologue towards the right or the left, due to
an error in the excision process, a deletion will occur through this pre meiotic recombination
event. This process of P element mobilization is the basis of how we directed recombination in
male flies, and therefore the basis of generating deletions in the DMAP1 gene. We made several
crosses that allowed P element mobilization to occur in male flies by crossing P element strains
(non autonomous) to a transposase source, producing heterozygous flies containing a P element
and a transposase source, and therefore allowing us to induce and detect male recombination events
in progeny. The specific recombination event of interest is when the P element is mobilized
towards the right onto a homologue, which may have induced a deletion in

The Futile Goal of Nicholas Branch in Don DeLillo s Libra...
The vast amount of evidence associated with the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, an
event that occurred more than fifty years ago, is still being collected and examined by an array of
scientists, professional historians, and conspiracy theorists. Periodically, with continuous
developments and improvements in technology, new information is being discovered that either
relates to an existing theory about the assassination or inspires additional assumptions about the
identity and location of another supposed shooter. According to author Don DeLillo, the immense
quantity of the information pertaining to the heinous crime committed in Dallas on November

He feels as if he must make meaning out of all the material in his possession and so, because he
does not know how to accomplish this, he remains perpetually immobile in his attempt to uncover
and write the true history of the assassination. Branch s objective to investigate all the facts about
the assassination places him in a chaotic situation. It is impossible for him to account for every
detail, fact, and occurrence linked to Kennedy s assassination because there is already too much
information for him to examine and much that has yet to be discovered. Christopher M. Mott, in
his essay Libra and the Subject of History , comments on Branch s need for absolute closure and
the chaotic results that arise: The novel implies that the version of the world that informs our
government s practices and dominates our episteme intends to account for every detail of existence.
It employs a totalizing discourse, a discourse of rational examination and explanation. Libra clearly
indicates that this penchant for total explanation leads, in fact, to total chaos. We simply cannot
account for every detail, every nuance. (143)
Branch s desire to piece together the factual events of the assassination has led to his abandonment
of life. He will forever be confined to his, as DeLillo describes, room of theories (57) since he must
study everything about the event. However, the CIA is constantly supplying him

Economic Impact Of American Fast Food Upon Developing...
Economic Impacts of American Fast Food upon Developing Countries
Amanda Lee
Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts
Introduction
Developments leading up to the 21st century are best characterized by the economic advancements
found in countries all over the world. Regardless of the level of these advancements in a country,
achieving higher living standards, financial stability, and overall growth of the economy are the
perpetual goals for a country. Because every country is unique in terms of their economic,
political, and social standings, different methods in order to obtain these goals are to be
considered. However, the basic principles for achieving these goals seem to follow the trends of
globalization: investment, technological improvements, secure institutions, and a market economy.
Countries that benefit the most from globalization are found to be of high growth. The integration
of a global economy in a country has prompted entrepreneurs to regard the world as one market in
the form of franchising. With that being said, economic success can measure the effects of Western
commercial globalization from the results of American fast food franchise. Innovations in
technology and society have eradicated the difficulties with communication between different
populations. This transition from communal living standards to the interdependence of economies
throughout the world will later be known as economic globalization

As we know nurses prepared with BSN degree possess the skill of good communication. They
are prepared to work in all settings (hospitals, schools, nursing homes, other long time care
facilities, and home sittings) contrary to ASN who are prepared to work at the bedside. BSN
nurses are trained to communicate with the patient, family, and society. They are prepared to
work with a group of people and in a group of people. To be able to work with the elderly patient
with dementia, the communication and writing skills as well are highly required. The nurse has to
communicate with the patient s doctor, patient s pharmacist, patient s insurance company, and with
a person who takes every day care of the patient giving clear and precise instructions, planning and
directing all activities. In many situations the nurse has to act as the patient s advocate and has to
work with a group of people at different intellectual levels. Another skill required for a nurse
working with the above patient is assessment. The patient is elderly and suffers from dementia. The
patient s body changes with aging and with dementia this person losses mental capacity. What the
nurse needs to work with this patient is excellent assessment skill. In this case the assessment,
planning, interventions, and evaluation of plan need to be totally changed. Only a nurse who
possesses very good critical and analytical thinking ability is able to take care of this patient.

Family Reunions
When I was younger me and my mom would attend family reunions. I disliked going to see my
them. Don t get me wrong, I love my family to death, but they are insane. They are loud and
crazy, I would have to repeat my same story about what I want to be when I grow up to every old
person there, and I would have to tell them no every time they would ask can I have your hair or
can I make weave out of it , and lastly, they drink. When my familyis drunk they are different
people. At that age, I didn t get why they were acting that way. Did they take something to make
them this crazy? Are they on drugs? why is she crying did she hurt herself? I was thinking to
myself they weren t this nice or energetic when I saw them five minutes ago . I wasn t with the
crazy adults all the time reason being I was forced to hang out with the kids my age. I didn t like
talking or playing with them because it was so much better watching drunk people. My mom
would always tell me not to do something and I wouldn t do it. She would give me a long
lecture and tell me how bad it was and try to scare me. I would listen, but I always zoned out and
was thinking about something else other than what she was talking about. But, when you re a
young stubborn child, like me, there s always a curious side of you. One day, she told me stop
running around in the house before you hurt yourself , but I wouldn t listen, and I fell and sprained

Collectivism Is More Rational Than Belief
I will be using rationality as the main criterion for evaluating which philosophy is preferable, so
the resolution can basically be re stated as belief in collectivism is more rational than belief in
individualism . My case revolves around 3 independently functioning reasons for why an
affirmation of the resolution is more plausible than a negation of it. I. Collectivism increases the
chances of individual success The logic underlying this is simple. A society, by definition, is a
group of individuals. So when we value the interests of society , we are really just valuing the
interests of the largest possible number of individuals within that society we are valuing the
interests of the majority. And since an individual is statistically more likely to part of the majority
than the minority (duh), collectivism ensures that any given individual is more likely to have
their interests protected than not. Thus, theoretically, collectivism increases the probability of
individual prosperity. However, this is not only demonstrable in theory; we can see empirical
examples of this holding true in practice as well. Just take a look at nature we can easily observe
a large variety of species that instinctively live in large, interactive groups in which collective
welfare is valued over individual welfare wolves, elephants, lions, chimpanzees, meerkats, bison,
sheep, antelopes, ants, bees, ducks, small fish, and many more fall into this category. There is a
reason why such a

Value Of Shame In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter
Carissa Larriuz
Mrs. Gordon
English 11
29 April 2018
The Value of Shame In modern culture, it is often used as a great threat and punishment to be
publicly shamed, multiple judges of the court even sentence this as a punishment. When the term is
used loosely, it appears an inappropriate alternative to jail time, yet when speculated closely, public
shame is in some ways worse than being put away in a cell. This can be argued due to the behavior
spectators display with involvement in the situation firsthand. I believe that although in some cases
public shame could be excessive and not fit the crime correctly, that public shaming is an effective
and influential form of punishment for certain crimes.
Primitively, According to the 8th... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This concept has existed almost as long as humans themselves, right from the beginning of
creation in the story of The Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were tempted into committing the
first crime known to man and once committed they were punished publicly by being unclothed.
This nakedness and sense of vulnerability was a form of public shame because their entity was
exposed and they were provided this punishment as a reflection of self assessment. This similar
idea is conveyed in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter. In the most basic sense,
Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne represent the primary characters in the
biblical story of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve. The first scaffold scene, where Hester
stands alone with her baby in her arms, in terms of similarities between the story and the biblical
one of Adam and Eve, plays on the biblical fact that Eve is said to have eaten the fruit first and
then convinced Adam to eat it afterward. The community s belief that women are, by nature,
sinful, is backed up by the interpretation of the biblical story and therefore shown in their acts of
ridicule to Hester alone. Overall, the use of public humiliation as a way of instilling social
discipline in in many ways highly effective when used suitably. It may lack effectiveness if the
offender in question

Colonialism Essay
During the period of Colonialism, the English settlers arrived in America from Europe looking for
religious freedom, land and the opportunity for wealth. While the Spanish Settlers arrived at
Hispaniola unexpectedly, like the English; however, the Spanish did not leave Europe because of
religion persecution; rather, they wanted to expand their religious belief to the New Word. While in
both the English and the Spanish colonization, the Indigenous people were oppressed and enslaved
but the English took a different approach. Thereby, although both the English and the European
colonized in order to obtain gold and silver to help their countries wealth, the Spanish explorers
took a more forceful method of gaining land.
Colonialism is the reason the world is how it s today geographically, culturally, socially and in
many other aspects. The economic systems such as capitalism was derived from the earliest period
of colonialism, with the Spanish imposing taxes on the Indians and the cheap labor the Indians
provided. However, the beginning of colonization in the Americasconfine with a deadly period of
slavery and the termination of Indian populations. For example, the introduction of diseases such as
smallpox which cause the death of millions of Native Americans. It was the largest smallpox
epidemic, it spread across most of the continent of North America. Thus, with colonization,
regardless from which nation or empires was coming from, diseases were introduced to populations

Essay On Railways In Canada
A major part of Canadian history is about railways, they seemed to transform Canadian societies
into something bigger and better. Before railways Canada had been faced with a problem in the
winter which was the lack of transportation, railways seemed to transform Canada by providing
jobs, illuminating violence, and creating international connections.
The creation of the railways in Canada was naturally a big job because of this fact many jobs were
created for various Canadians. People were always needed to create the path and do the hard
labour that was involved, however, this did not pay well for the very physical work that was
involved. Much more people were now being employed to construct the railways and drive the
newly built trains around that had carried many goods.
The railroad system had also decreased the amount of domestic violence that was being taken
place in Canadian society. Before the railroad construction in Canada, many people who grew
crops as farmers especially in bulk forms had a very difficult time getting their products to market
especially in the winter. For an example, grain, if a farmer was not able to get their goods to the
market to sell they would usually turn the grain into whiskey. This naturally led to an over the
assumption of the drink making the farmer overly ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Doctrine Of The Trinity
The word Trinity cannot be found in the bible, but neither can omnipresent or omniscient; yet they
all describe the Biblical expression of who God is and how he is revealed to humanity. Furthermore,
the doctrine of the Trinity is so crucial to Christianity, that if it was removed Christianity would
crumble and fall into cult status. Even through the doctrine of the Trinitytook almost a three
hundred to be formally stated at the Council of Nicea (325) and the Council of Constantople
(381);1 Roger Olsen points out that all one has to do is read second and third century church fathers
such as Athenagoras, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Origen or Cyprian to see immediately that Christians
believed in the Trinity long before Constantine called all the Christian bishops to the first
ecumenical council at Nicea in 325. 2
Thereby, this makes the doctrine of the Trinity part of the Great Tradition of Christian Belief for
almost 2000 years.3 Specifically; the Trinity is God who is three distinct entities Father, Son and
Holy Spirit. Neither is elevated above the other, rather they exist in perfect unity. The evidence
supporting the Trinity can been seen clearly in Scripture, has been affirmed by all branches of
Christianity and deeply contrasts all other concepts, such as modalism, Arianism and tritheism.
First of all, the clearest display of the Trinity, in the Bible is in the baptism of Christ. The three
synoptic Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark and Luke, all point to Jesus being in the

Market penetration
Market penetration is the name given to a growth strategy where the business focuses on selling
existing products into existing markets.
Market penetration seeks to achieve four main objectives:
Maintain or increase the market share of current products this can be achieved by a combination of
competitive pricing strategies, advertising, sales promotion and perhaps more resources dedicated
to personal selling
Secure dominance of growth markets
Restructure a mature market by driving out competitors; this would require a much more
aggressive promotional campaign, supported by a pricing strategy designed to make the market
unattractive for competitors
Increase usage by existing customers for example by introducing loyalty schemes
A market penetration marketing strategy is very much about business as usual . The business is
focusing on markets and products it knows well. It is likely to have good information on
competitors and on customer needs. It is unlikely, therefore, that this strategy will require much
investment in new market research.
Market development

Advantages Of Reflexive Standardization Of The Information...
According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting
efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive
results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a
result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the
Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a
fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they
were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a
development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to
centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records.
This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both
advantages and disadvantages as discussed.
Necessity and Advantages

understand the use of the system. By being complex, the system fails in its quest to become a better
solution as opposed to traditional record keeping

should get involved with big data has not always been an easy one to answer. On the other hand,
since most health care researchers are subject specialists and have limited data science skills, most
librarians in the healthsciences realize they do need to become involved in it. That they have to
provide health care researchers with as much help and information as they can. Consequently, the
real question for them should be exactly how they need to be involved. Health sciences librarians
realize they can fill many roles in health care s use of big data, but since some roles librarians
could performed are already being filled in large institutions... Show more content on

Therefore, librarians need to provide information on how to write such a plan, information about
where researchers can deposit data affordably that works well with new data and old data, and
what are the best practices for sharing their data, including how to get the data ready for ingest
into a repository. Health sciences librarians can also help researchers with labeling and applying
metadata standards to their data sets. For health sciences libraries with limited resources, much of
this information could be provided online using libguides or even web links.
When working with big data researchers are also finding themselves needing information how
to work with visualization tools. Many have never used these tools before and if health sciences
libraries can offer space and training on equipment and software to their researchers then they
will have both access to them and a chance to learn to use them. However, not every health
sciences library will be able to provide equipment and software for them, but most could provide
information on where to find training and possibly a list of local locations with access. In
addition, health sciences libraries could also provide training courses on R and Python directly to
their researchers or information on local or web based courses.
Finally, one of the other major ways that health sciences

Jealousy, By William Shakespeare
One of the most powerful and prominent themes that is explored in all three of my chosen texts
is jealousy, It is presented in many different ways ranging from sexual and romantic jealousy to
professional jealousy of someone of a higher rank or social standing. In every example jealousy is
portrayed as being the main cause of self destruction of the characters it afflicts. Othellois driven to
madness by his jealousyand this culminates in the murder of his wife, Ferdinand loses his sanity
and murders his sister because of his intense jealousy over her lover and his desire to possess her
body. Finally, hopeless stalker Jed Parry turns suicidal when his desires and lovetoward Joe are not
reciprocated and he becomes increasingly jealous of Joe s girlfriend Clarissa. All three writers
explore the effects of jealousy and its potentially fatal consequences which I destroy the characters
afflicted by this emotion. Webster, Shakespeare and McEwan suggests that jealousy always leads
to self destruction and I will be analysing the causes of jealousy as well as the adverse effects it
has on the characters experiencing it.
Throughout my chosen texts, there are many different causes of jealousy which affect characters in
different ways. Sexual jealousy is the most prevalent type as it affects numerous characters across
the texts. The way in which it is presented is by the gradual progression with the breakdown of the
character. In Othello the eponymous character is convinced that his

The San Fault Earthquake Of San Francisco Essay
The San Andreas fault line has caused constant development nightmares for large urban areas such
as San Francisco as well as the other cities built on top of it. Fault lines are one of the side effects
of the earth s tectonic plates shifting that can result in devastating earthquakes. Some of the most
devastating earthquakes in our modern era have occurred along the San Andreas faultline due to a
dense population. The most notable and destructive earthquakeon the San Andreas fault line
occurred in San Francisco in 1906. The reason this earthquake was so deadly was because of its
magnitude and the city s poor planning. This earthquake was a wakeup call for San Francisco
and force the city to revolutionize its knowledge on earthquakes and how to protect their city.
Today San Francisco is one of the most well prepared cities for an earthquake and has made great
discoveries in earthquake safety measures. The 1906 earthquake in San Francisco has drastically
changed how the city has developed its zoning and building code policies, and its earthquake
research.
Yerba Buena (San Francisco) was founded June 29, 1776 by the Spanish after they discovered its
fantastic natural harbor. Yerba Buena became a miniature hotspot in the west for international
traders and explorers. The British even said that it would be a perfect location for their navy in the
Pacific Ocean. It wasn t until July 7, 1846 that the United States was able to acquire Yerba Buena

Persuasive Essay About A Grocery Shop
This seems like a weird question, but have you ever thought about how you grocery shop? Yeah,
of course, you might say. You go to the store, get a cart, put food in, pay for it, and bring it
home. OK, but do you ever find that you spend more time at the store than you d like? Do you
hate standing around trying to pair this protein with that starch, or find yourself buying yet another
packet of dried thyme because you couldn t remember if you had any? Planning healthy meals
takes some work, and shopping for the ingredients is one of the most important tasks. Whether you
are trying to save money on your groceries and get as much healthy, wholesome foods on the table
as possible, the way you shop can be your best first step on that journey.... Show more content on

Make a list and stick to it. This step is pretty self explanatory, but its importance cannot be
overstated. Making a good list of what you need from the store will cut down on the length of
time you have to shop. It also allows you to fight the wandering belly syndrome , which happens
when you push your cart around, looking at everything on the shelves, and then having the
sudden urge to drop some Nutella or ice cream in your cart, when it wasn t on your list. Just
seemed like a good idea at the time, right? Don t feel too ashamed we ve all been there. Keeping
your focus on the stuff on your list, while not much fun, will help save you from yourself! 4. Use
the butcher counter or measure your meat. If you are fortunate enough to have access to a
butcher shop or a good butcher counter at your local grocery store, you can buy your meat in
exact quantities. The problem I always found in grocery stores is the way meat is sold. Families
come in many different sizes and needs, yet the ground beef only comes in two general sizes. If
you buy the smaller package, you might come up short for your recipe. If you buy one of those
big 5 pound packages, you either have to divide it into more appropriate sizes yourself, or you
might end up cooking it

Excalibur Plan
Negotiation Plan Excalibur Engine Parts
As the VP of Sales for Excalibur I am required to negotiate with Knight Engines Inc to come to an
agreement for a rush order of 8000 pistons within two weeks. It is in my personal interests to
deliver a substantial profit to Excalibur for the benefit of shareholders. However, negotiating a deal
with Knight may be the only chance for Excalibur to avoid a major loss in this quarter.
Consequently, I aim to secure a profitable contract but am willing to trade current profit for future
gain.
For this negotiation I have three types of goals in place. My substantive goals are to negotiate a
contract that will bring in $5.8m (target point 3) and to also secure future contracts with Knight.
With ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to achieve my goals it is necessary to get Knight to also see Excalibur as being crucial to
the success of their business. With positive interdependence, parties are more willing to make
concessions and promote the interests of the other party as opposed to negative interdependence
which fosters competitiveness (Johnson amp; Johnson, 2003). To foster a positive interdependence
relationship, I will adopt a pleasant manner and present a fair, cooperative and understanding nature.
The tactics that will be employed during the negotiation will be integrative in nature and with a
weak BATNA there is little incentive for Excalibur to act aggressively, only strategically.
Logrolling involves trading off issues to reach a solution. With multiple issues at hand
logrolling will be most effective when both parties are honest, however considering all my
interests I will be open as to which issues are most important to me (eg. price)but will hide
specific details (my BATNA). I will also attempt to create positive interdependence between
Knight and Excalibur by expanding the pie and offering non specific compensation. Currently, the
negotiation pie is limited to the pistons and Excalibur will need to offer more resources to make a
business relationship desirable for Knight. To expand the pie I will be offering free marketing on
Excalibur s website, exclusive rights to pistons and long term contracts offering

Absolutism Under The Influence Of Samgha
Although it may not seem evident initially, even the Chinese Buddhist Association and therefore
the Chinese sangha ultimately remain under the control of the communist government. These goals
ultimately help the government have a say in Buddhist affairs because the Chinese Buddhist
Association cannot exist without the government in the first place. For example, the Chinese
Buddhist Association and the samgha completed the socialization of monasteries under the name of
promoting Buddhism(Welch 1961, 7). Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns
received the same amount of land as farmers. After land distribution, the number of monks in the
monasteries continues to decrease as many of them return to the laity (Welch 1961, 1). One

The process, known as political indoctrination, helps the samgha understand that although the
government possesses ultimate authority, their voices can influence interpretation of doctrines,
scriptures, and beliefs (Yu 1971, 54). Even where the samgha receives their education remains
centralized. Most samgha studies through the Chinese Buddhist College that is affiliated with the
Chinese Buddhist Association as well. The samgha are made aware of the relationships in politics
and religion. Since only one college controls the samgha teaching primarily, the process remains
very standardized and differences get eliminated. This helps maintain legitimacy and power because
one organization and its clergy makes the decisions rather than multiple organizations fighting over
control (Yu 1971, 55). Thus, the hierarchy gets further simplified because the Chinese government
simply answers to one organization, the Chinese Buddhist Association, rather than multiple
organizations. Ultimately, this strengthens the government s control over the

Speech On The Bag Of The Road By Cormac Mccarthy
Good morning/afternoon everyone, today I will be presenting my show bag of Cormac McCarthy
s dystopian novel The Road .
The Road is a post apocalyptic tale of a tough, miserable journey of a father and his son heading
south through North America over a period of several months, across a landscape ruined by and
unknown cataclysm. This event has destroyed almost all of known civilisation to humans, save
various survivors and structures once known as cities.
The items I have brought in that are symbolic to the text is the following (pulling them out one by
one): A horseshoe (to represent luck and hope), a multi tool (to represent survival), a Jar of ash (to
represent the lifelessness and landscape), a can of Coca Cola (to represent the past and the boy in
the novel) and finally a simple backpack (to represent a journey). The multi tool is related to
physical aspects of a human because it gets the job done, for example the mini saw is used to cut
branches off trees, similar to how the human has hands to prepare food or put up a tent.
Firstly, the rusty Horseshoe, it used to go on a horse, obviously, but it can also be classified as a
lucky charm. Luck was one of the main characteristics that kept the man and the child alive, so
they thought. But relying on luck in a time like that wouldn t be the best of ideas, this is because
most of your survival comes with your skills and wits. However with luck comes hope, like how
eating food brings you enjoyment. Somehow surviving on

An Analysis Of Conor Grennan s The Little Princes
Before and after In Conor Grennan s the little princes a young man by the name of Conor
Grennan is bored with his typical day to day life and decides to spend his life savings on a
yearlong trip around the world. Before he begins his worldwide trip, he volunteers at an
orphanage in Nepal named the little princes mainly out of a sense of guilt rather than an actual
desire to help. Expecting it to be a short and meaningless time he soon finds himself on a long
and difficult journey that will change him in ways that he never expected. Through his time
with the children of the orphanage Conor finds himself changing in ways he did not expect as
he experiences the world outside of his own country, develops a genuine desire to help others
before himself, and eventually gaining a new sense of purpose. This change brought on by his
time spent with the children is apparent throughout his journey as he is tested again and again
to see how far he will go and just what kind of man he will be in the end. In the beginning of his
long Journey Conor is a simple man about to turn 30 and sets off on a yearlong trip to
experience the world which he has never known. His first look upon the outside world is when
he comes to Nepal and see s the damage the war has inflicted upon the country and its people in.
Though the country is in a such a war torn state, Conor is impressed by the children who despite
their situation still retain their childhood spirits, creating their own games and playing together
as normal children do, as Farid said They are very resourceful, these children. You will find they
do very much with very little. (part 1 chapter 1). Conor is not just impressed by the children s
retaining of their playfulness and love of fun, but also the way they take care of themselves and
each other as their own form of family, as Conor states himself That s Nepal. Children take care
of one another. (part3 chapter4). Conor see s even more of the destruction the war has wrought as
he searches for the parents of the children, seeing villages of people no better off than the children
of the little princes . Though Conor see s the dark and desolate parts of the world, he also
witnesses people who despite the state of their

Ideological Extremity And Qualification
Shown above are my results. Both qualification and ideological extremity help predict the
number of no votes a candidate receives. The correlation coefficient for qualification is 25.87823,
meaning that the more qualified a candidate is, the fewer no votes he or she receives. On the
other hand, the correlation coefficient for ideological extremity is +21.90444, meaning that that
more ideologically extreme a candidate is, the more no votes he or she receives. Both of these
correlations are statistically significant since the p values are 0.000 and 0.023 both less than 0.05.

There are many Types of Security
Back to the question at hand, when is too much security too much? The turning point is different
for each situation. A home computer can have too much security when the user installs two
separate security programs. These programs then end up fighting each other and not protecting
the computer at all. For a business it can be when the company begins to lose money by having
less time to be productive. A simple example would be when a company installs an auto log off
feature that terminates a user s session after they do not do any actions for ten minutes. After a
month of testing the new feature the employees report that they feel as though they are spending as
much time logging in as they are doing any work. To help decide when a system has too much
securitycan easily be solved when dealing with obvious issues, but if the task becomes harder the
issue can be solved in a formulaic fashion. In the study An Analytical Security Model for Existing
Software Systems by Ayaz Isazadeh and a few other researchers, over the course of four years,
developed a formula for how much security would be needed per architectural system. This type of
study helps more than simple businesses, governments everywhere take the information into
consideration when creating or changing their system. For example, the U.S. government is wrote
about in the article Defending America in Cyberspace where it is said that the government
continues to improve its ability to understand vulnerabilities of

Richard Plantagenet Essay
For this project I would like to research the public opinion and reception of the political reforms
made by Richard Plantagenet as both Duke of Gloucester and King of England. Upon his
brother Edward IV s regaining of the throne in 1471, Richard gained properties and offices in the
far north of England previously enjoyed only by lords of long standing families such as the
Percys. As Duke of Gloucester, Richard served as an extension of royal power and was charged
with constructing some semblance of order. Repeatedly, Richard used his close relationship with
the king to settle disputes between nobility and local governments in favor of the latter. This
suggests an affinity for the lesser classes that continued during his brief reign. In a previous
research project I discussed Richard s 1484 Parliament and how it sought to benefit the general
public over the nobility. While this argument was backed by fairly substantial evidence as to the
intent of the laws and amendments, the public reaction to them was not addressed. Unfortunately, it
is virtually impossible to follow up on the effects of these parliamentary statutes as, after his death
in 1485, many of Richard s reforms were eradicated or... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Use Of Lichen And Its Effect On The Environment
Lichens are widely distributed in many different areas and can be found inhabited within harsh
habitats such as dry arid hot deserts and freezing mountain tops. Environmental factors such as
temperature, sun exposure levels, and the pH levels of soil influence the growth of Lichens. Their
natural structure and symbiotic relationship with fungus and a photosynthetic partner has given
these organisms the ability to survive such harsh and exposed environments. Their ability to absorb
substances and minerals dissolved in rain and dew has also enabled Lichento live and survive in
such extreme areas, but this ability has had the effect of making them very sensitive to pollutants
in the air; and therefore cannot survive in polluted areas such as the city because of automobile
traffic such as cars, and industrial activity. Lichen can be found growing within soil, on the
surface layer of rocks, and most commonly, they are found growing on the bark of trees (Raven et
al. 2010, p. 626 627).
The graph above shows that the south aspect of most of the trees in Campbelltown Campus had the

Women have demonstrated that they possess the academic capability to go through law school. For
example Clara Brett Martin, the first woman to become a lawyer , had essentially paved the way
for the following generations to be accepted into the law profession, however, many of the barriers
that she had to face are still in existence, starting with the male attitudes towards women lawyers to
hiring discriminatory practices in firms and general cultural attitudes towards the role of women
lawyer.
Historically women have had to fight to get equal access to the profession and to the practice of law
however, as late as the 1970 women were refused partnerships within firm even after they have
demonstrated that they are capable of doing the job. For example, Judge Carolyn king who had
practiced corporate law for 10 years at one of the highly established firm, and according to her
account had a great experience and her career path proceeded exactly like the career paths of men,
was refused partnership simply because she was a woman. She was told later that the possibility of
her getting pregnant and taking parental leave was the main reason for being refused partnership
(Jackson, 2006). While legislations have been put now to ensure that discrimination on the basis of
sex is illegal, researchers agree that systemic discrimination, which is largely unintentional still exist
at all levels and its impact touches on women s inability to reach high ranking positions

What Is The Idiographic Approach To Study Personality
1)In the idiographic approach to studying personality, the goal is to understand all the specific
details, factors and characteristics that make up the personality of a specific individual. There are
three different kinds of traits in this approach, central traits, secondary traits, and cardinal traits.
These three types allow psychologists to identify traits that are the most important to understanding
an individual, traits that are vary in when/how they are revealed, and single traits that completely
dominate a personality. To study personality using this approach, psychologists read case studies or
have participants complete surveys. In the nomothetic approach, rather than focusing on the traits
that can be applied to a specific individual, the focus is on finding traits that can be applied to all
people. There are three approaches that are used, often in combination. The theoretical approach
begins with a theory, which is then used to determine which variables or traits are important. The

important trait terms and important individual differences. Lastly, the measurement approach starts

The Book of Exodus is not a narrative of slavery. The Book...
The Book of Exodus is not a narrative of slavery. The Book of Exodus is not a condemnation of
slavery. The Book of Exodus is not an escapee s manual. The Book of Exodus does not even
incorporate one journal entry, one trial transcript, or one eye witness account of the slavery
endured by the Israelites in Egypt. Despite its lack of address, the Book of Exodus solidifies man s
need for Godand God s need for worship. Before returning to Egypt with his purpose at hand, Moses
discovers God on Mt. Sinai during a solitary journey with his father in law s flock. By bringing
Moses to a mountain, God shows Moses that holiness is not a quality known to man; holiness is
known only to God. God may reveal holiness to man, as he does to Moses;... Show more content on

Immediately thereafter, God introduces Himself, I am the God of your father, the God of
Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. (Exodus 3:6) God s relationship to Moses
renews generation after generation, from host to host and blessed father to blessed son.
Without this continuity, God would be a stranger, or at best a long lost relative, someone whom
Moses would not need and probably would not recognize. Recognition of God s sovereignty is
at the heart of worship, the driving theme of the Book of Exodus, and the reason God so
severely punishes the Egyptians. God does not punish the Egyptians for keeping the Israelites as
slaves. God punishes the Egyptians for Pharaoh s attempt to better God by sacrificing His
firstborn: Israel. Although many arguments can be made against human sacrifice, none mitigates
God s anger with Pharaoh. In general, God s anger is rarely pacified: not even Moses protects the
Israelite idol worshipers at Mt. Sinai. At Moses command, the Levites slay three thousand of their
brothers, friends, and neighbors the innocent along with the guilty. Believing God s wrath has
branded them with righteousness, Moses praises the survivors as blessed. God has other plans:
another plague. With the deaths of those who break Faith, God is satisfied. As Supreme Ruler,
God defends those who worship Him and destroys those who worship idols. After leading the
defeat of the Amalekites at Rephidim, Moses

Classroom Behavior Management Pl Guidelines
EEA305 CLASSROOM BEHAVIOUR MANAGEMENT PLAN: 1. Assertive discipline
Characteristics and Key points: This type of teacher believed that he or she has the right to enforce
order in their classrooms, so that teaching and learning can occur The teacher takes on an
authoritarian role where most of the instructional activities are teacher lead and directed A series of
classroom rules will be developed so that the students can follow for guidance of what is acceptable
and what is not Although the teacher believes in a strict classroom environment, positive student
relationships and encouraging students in classroom achievements are implemented Strict

I believe that my students should feel comfortable to have their say and be in charge, to an extent
of their learning. Students should be flourishing and growing in their classrooms, not being
hounded and manipulated to conforming to the teachers beliefs. How this applies to my classroom
management approach: For students to become ethical people, as opposed to people who do
merely what they are told, we cannot just tell them what to do. We have to guide and support these
students to figure this out for themselves so they can learn from each other. Whenever possible,
simply ignore the covert hostility of a student. By ignoring the behaviour, you will diffuse the
situation. Remember, what you really want is for the student to comply with your request. Whether
or not the student does it in an angry manner is not the issue. (Assertive discipline approach, 2008)
I believe that this strategy of classroom behaviour management does not suit, or compliment my
beliefs as a teacher. I believe the students should feel comfortable and supported in their learning
environment and I feel as though assertive discipline does not allow for this. I can see the positives
that could arise from a management plan such as this, but to punish children for making natural
childhood mistakes is to punish them for being children. 2. Applied Behaviour Analysis

How Do Red Blood Cells Affect The Cardiovascular System
Every second, about two million red blood cells die in the human body. Fortunately, the bone
marrow can keep up with the body by creating red blood cells at the same rate of which they die.
If red blood cells malfunction, there are serious diseases and consequences that will affect the
Cardiovascular system. Red bloodcells are built to complete specific functions in this system. The
red blood cellaffects the body s blood flow, and the amount of oxygen in all parts of the body.
Red blood cells play a big role in the cardiovascular system. The cardiovascular system s main
function is to get blood from the heart, and distribute it to the whole body. The cardiovascular
system is a highway network that links to all parts of the human body (Pearson 78). This system
is made up of the heart, blood vessels, and blood. The blood in this system consists of plasma, red
blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. These substances provide the body with oxygen, and
protection from other viruses and bacteria. Without the cardiovascular system, the human body
would not be able to function. The red blood cell is a biconcave disk, which means ... Show more

Some symptoms of a high or low red blood cell count can include: fatigue, joint pain, and
shortness of breath (WebMD). A normal red blood cell count is anywhere from 4.7 to 6.1

for women. Some causes for a high red blood cell count are: smoking, heart disease, dehydration,
or a bone marrow disease. Another form of malfunction in the red blood cell is anemia. There are
multiple types of anemia, such as: sickle cell anemia, iron deficiency anemia, and hemolytic
anemia. Hemolytic anemia is when red blood cells are destroyed by an abnormal process in your
body (WebMD). These malfunctions affect how well the red blood cell and cardiovascular system

Morality In Ignatius A Confederacy Of Dunces
Whereas Ignatius rather nonsensical pessimistic worldview comes from his sense of being
morally greater than his society (and, therefore, from looking at it in disgust), and from a position
of general opulence, Elie s stems from a macabre realization that all people, including himself, are
bestial and selfish, and from a position of total destitution. Ignatius believed himself to be a beacon
of moralityin an otherwise dismal society. For instance, throughout A Confederacy of Dunces, he
would write about the evils of the hedonistic, bourgeois society in which he lived, and about how
the world would be in a much better position if based on the medieval principles (such as divine
right and cruel forms of torture) in which he subscribed were

Polonius Murder In William Shakespeare s Hamlet
Hamlet will not produce Polonius s body when asked because he wants to get under the King s skin
and irritate him. Later, this also confirms to Hamlet that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern were still
working for the King, and to provoke Claudius, so he can confide in Horatio. Hamlet gains an
additional reaction of paranoia and indignance from Claudius through disobeying him.
Ophelia s madness helps Claudius to further convince Laertes to kill Hamlet, blaming Ophelia s
madness and suicide on Hamlet s cruel manipulations. In addition, to Polonius murder via Hamlet.
This helps Claudius because he is toying with Laertes emotions and motives to achieve his own
goal of removing Hamlet out of the picture by having someone else kill the prince.
Laertes originally confronts Claudius because he suspects the King was involved in both his father
and sister s death. When he does this, Claudius shifts the blame on Hamlet, which leads the two of
them to plot Hamlet s death in order to avenge Laertes deceased family members.
Claudius encourages Laertes to exact revenge on Hamlet because he is suspicious of Hamlet. He

Total Words in this Document:
Title: Can I Use a Garbage Disposal if I Have a Septic System?
Millions of homeowners around the country are using septic, rather than sewer systems. Whether
their septic system was a choice, or was a necessity due to lack of a shared sewer system, septic
systems provide significant advantages for many who appreciate the environmentally friendly
design, durability, and lower costs.
Septic systems that have been properly installed maintained should last between 20 and 40 years;
many, though, last significantly longer. Regular cleanings, pumpings, and care are necessities for
keeping your septic system running properly. It s also important to make sure that you monitor
what is being sent into the septic system; leaky faucets, items ... Show more content on

Unfortunately, though they are not the best choice for septic systems.
A garbage disposal is used to grind food scraps into tiny pieces, making is easier to dispose of and
process the waste. When you have a septic system, the pieces of food are flushed down the drain,
into your system.
Just as you should avoid sending other solids down the septic system, the garbage disposal poses a
problem when homeowners try to process and dispose of non biodegradable food items, like food
packaging items, or even hard to break down foods, like bones, fruit pits, coffee grounds, or oil and
grease.
These items add up in septic tank, and as the sludge accumulates, it takes away from the full
capacity of the tank. Ideally, the bacteria and treatments will help to break down the components
that are causing the sludge, but as the larger, heavier pieces sink to the bottom more quickly, the
bacteria doesn t have the time to do its

The Apartheid Of South Africa Essay
South Africa, after experiencing the apartheid, is trying their best to overcome the apartheid.
Now, the country even has its own leader. He is Jacob Zuma. It is already his second term as a
president.( News, B. (2016, August 5)) The country went over a lot of things, and the history of
democratic political system is not very long for them.
English and Dutch colonized South Africa in the seventeenth century. After South Africa got its
independence from England, Afrikaner National Party became a majority. This was the result of
two groups trying to gain the most power, and the Afrikaner National Party won. After the
independence and apartheid they experienced, there was the first non racial elections in 1994. After
that, parliamentary republic was elected after replacing constitution of Interim Constitution in 1197,
February 4th. After the independence, South Africa tried its best to be non racist and get out of the
apartheid they struggled. South Africa elected its own president, and aimed to be democratic. Even
though South Africa now is not fully settled democratic system, they are still struggling and trying
hard to be fully democratic. (The History of Apartheid in South Africa.)
South Africa once again, tried its best and still trying to be a democratic country. However, the
second largest party, DA, was under the control of apartheid even though the party opposed
apartheid laws. That is why DA changed its route to be more conventional liberal, which opposed
ANC.(

The Effects Of Weather On The United States Tornadoes
The Roots of Frequent United States Tornadoes
Tornadoes happen all throughout the United States, as well as other parts of the world. Tornadoes
are created when colder air meets with the warmer air, creating an unstable weather environment.
The United States, according to Friedman (2013), leads the world in sheer volume of tornadoes.
The geographic features of the United States affect the frequent appearance of tornadoes across the
nation. Tornadoes often appear in the United States, which may come in various extents. Depending
on the instability of air inducing the tornado, they may appear in devastating sizes, or less
overwhelming breadth, with passive winds. Even though tornadoes can form on any land mass,
given the right conditions, the United States is more frequently hit with tornadoes than any other
country, but what effects lead to the frequent appearance of meager or extensive tornadoes
across the nation? Of course we all know a tornado is hazardous situation to be placed in, and
they come during bad storms. stormaware.mo.gov, defines a tornado as a Rotating, funnel shaped
cloud that extends from a thunderstorm to the ground with whirling winds that can reach 300
miles per hour (2 para. 1). Tornadoes come in a wide variety of sizes and strengths, each of which
are variables to the total amount of damage assessed. The total damage brought by a single tornado
is how tornadoes are classified. The original scale of tornado classification was the Fujita

Benefits Of Selling Organs
Selling your organs should be legal. Selling your organs could help with debt that many families
suffer with. Selling an organ could also help someone else get one while you are still getting
something out of it. Could make the amount of deaths go down from getting abducted and killed.
First selling organs could help a family with debt problems. Many families suffer with debt so
they could just sell their organs to help. Instead of taking out a loan and being in debt you could
sell an organ and help pay for the thing you wanted to buy. Cars and things like that cost around
30k for each one but selling an organ such as a kidney gets you around 20k dollars which could
definitely help put forward some money towards what your trying to buy.

The Un Sanctions Committee s Guidelines Prescribe Too...
Some would say that the UN Sanctions Committee s guidelines prescribe very loose standards of
evidence for their Monitoring Groups. This is often followed with the claim that inconsistent
standards of investigations and evidentiary standards can lead to poor harmonization and unfair
sanctioning, which can even go so far as discrediting of the Sanctions Committees of the Security
Council. While these claims may be true to some extent, the argument can be made that by
comparing reports, Experts have already formed a degree of consensus in their evidentiary
standards and due processes of investigations. The purpose of exemplifying the high burden of
proof across the Panels of Experts without a common guidelines is to demonstrate that due... Show

Looking at this policy, it is clear that it would be impossible under the current framework to
provide this type of due process for all individuals and entities sanctioned by the UN. Furthermore,
the Security Council would most likely not provide the resources necessary to pursue this process.
Therefore, to the standard of due process used for charging misconduct on a UN employee would
not be satisfied with the due process used for investigations and impositions of UN sanctions.
While this example may not be a realistic comparison, the value in its mention is intended to shed
light on the double standards inherent in the due process of imposing UN sanctions (having
detrimental effects), and the due process for imposing a charge of misconduct on a UN staff
member (having much less of an effect than targeted sanctions). This double standard perhaps
signifies a need for reform.
After viewing the evidentiary standards and investigative methods of the different Experts Panels
of the Security Council Monitoring Teams/Groups as will be done in the remainder of this essay it
will be demonstrated that almost all Panels of Expert more or less conform to the recommendations
made in The Report of the Informal Working Group of the Security Council on General Issues of
Sanctions (2006) already, without a mandate or common standard outlined by the Security Council.

  • 2. Genesis 6-13 Research Paper As a descendant of Adam and Eve, Noah was both a blameless and righteous man who faithfully walked alongside the Lord. Unlike the others in his generation, Noah did not allow the wickedness to enter into his own life, and God sought favor in this. Genesis 6: 13 reveals the discussion between God to Noah, revealing his plan to destroy every living thing under the heavens due to the violence that seeps in the lives of all creations. The Lord instructed Noah to build an ark out of cypress wood, accommodating the dimensions of forty five feet long, seventy five feet wide, and forty five feet high. One the construction was completed the Lord revealed the occupants of the ark. The individuals chosen to accompany Noah during the flood were his wife, Noah s three sons and their wives, along with a single pair of all unclean animals, and seven pairs of all clean animals. The Lord then instructs Noah and his occupants to enter into the ark, affirming, Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Every living creation perished, leaving Noah and the other occupants of the ark as the only remaining creatures on the earth. The waters cleansed the earth from all sin, giving the Lord a fresh start to a more awe inspiring and passionate coexistence between future generations. After a year and seventeen days on the ark, the Lord instructed Noah and his family to bring the animals out onto the newly cleansed land so that they can be fruitful and increase in numbers. Once the task was complete, Noah set out on a task of building an altar and made a sacrificial burnt offering from some of the clean animals and presented it to the Lord. The Lord then proclaimed that never again would he curse the ground or destroy all living creatures due to the wickedness and evil that could once again fill the hearts of his living ... Moreover, party leaders seemed to rely on individual s sense of emulous nature, in addition to their sense of duty. Once again, Lower recounts another individual s recollection of her experience during the war: I seldom came into contact with other women, so that in the course of this time I became more hardened, desensitized. I did not want to stand behind the SS men. I wanted to show them that I, as a woman, could conduct myself like a man. So I shot four Jews and six Jewish children. I wanted to prove myself to the men (Lower, 155). While it may seem incomprehensible to us now, as it certainly is to me, the extent to which individuals are capable and willing to commit unspeakable acts against their fellow human beings can be understood by the enormous influence of authority and their misuse of human traits. Healing After the War After the conclusion of World War II, it took many years for countries to rebuild their economies and morality. The mentality of the survivors differed greatly, regardless of location. Some individuals grappled with the fact that atrocities such as the holocaust occurred ... A Lady of Letters and Cream Cracker under the Settee by Alan Bennett The two monologues I am going to be writing about are two elderly women who are lonely and trapped in their own homes. I will be talking about how Doris, one lady from Cream cracker under the settee and Irene, the other lady in Lady of letters are suffering from loneliness. Doris and Irene both live alone. They don t seem to have any special friends. For example, Irene doesn t like being people calling her Irene. People who come across Irene must call her Miss.Ruddock; nobody has called her Irene since her mother died. Only real friends may call Miss Ruddock Irene. But both Doris and Irene have people who do you look out for them like the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like when she complained to the council about a curb being cracked, little things like this are quite amusing to see such an intelligent women making a fuss. Irene and Doris also have some things in common. They both have lost loved ones in their lives. This is an important story line in both monologues, as I will explain later on. The music in these monologues feels the emotions of what the characters are feeling. When there is a scene where Doris or Irene is happy, the music will go along with the expressions. I could tell when the topic came up on the loved lost ones it was a very dramatic time for Irene and Doris. The music drained out the room with a slow deep beat of a bellow. This makes the monologues more realistic with the different types and style of music, and with the pauses where no music is played at all. Cream cracker under the settee and lady of letters are both set in houses. Which are very stereotypical houses for the elderly, with the dull colours, except in these houses they have horrible bars on their windows that couldn t make Doris and Irene feel very comfortable. There are a number of things I could write for Doris and Irene, imprisonment, lack and loss and the endings of the monologues. But I have chosen to go in deeply about the loneliness and how it has affected them. I feel that this topic is one of the main structures of the monologues. IRENE Starting with ... • 5. Legend Of Gallipoli Hypothesis: In contrast to common societal belief, the Gallipoli Campaign had both a positive and negative impact on Australian Society. By building the Anzac spirit, it distinguished Australia as its own nation, built on a foundation of qualities embedded in this Anzac Legend. The nation advanced socially and gained respect on a Global stage, but, Australiadid significantly decline economically and the morals of praising a failed war are question by some. Intro: As the battle died, the legend was born, and so was the nation. On the 28th of June, 1914, Archduke of Austro Hungary, Franz Ferdinand was Assassinated by Serbian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip in Sarajevo. In simple terms, the Anzac legend is the commemoration of the Anzac spirit, born and developed throughout the eight months on the battlefield of Gallipoli. The horrible situations, made the Anzacs strong and resilient, they had to rely upon mateship and each other to get through. Their larrikinism also helped to keep many in as good a mood as possible. Australia was very proud of their soldiers and aspired to be like them, this meant that soon the whole country adopted the qualities of the Anzac spirit and the building of a nation began. This nation was not the newly federated country that still was much divided into the different qualities, Gallipoli fixed that two. Because man from all different backgrounds and states fought together they were properly united and brought that attitude back home. The Anzac legend has had a positive impact, defining what it means to be Australian, however how did Gallipoli an WW1 impact on Australia socially and economically. The failed Gallipoli campaignmean that bonds with Britain deteriorated, due to poor British leaderships, and the superiority that that showed to Australians. By leaving the influence of Britain the nation was shaped more as an individual country which allowed them to impress on an international stage. Other than the Anzac legend, positive societal effects include; new industries with more jobs were developed, new political groups and trade unions were created, a strong military tradition was established, chemical and electrical industries were formed and women gained a higher role in society this was the first war they could help out by encouraging men to enlist, being nurses or taking over as factory workers. Using P element Induced Male Recombination to Generate a Deletion in the DMAP1 Gene on Chromosome Two in Drosophila melanogaster Abstract: The goal of this study was to induce a deletion in the DMAP1 gene on chromosome two in Drosophila melanogaster through P element mobilization. The DMAP1 gene may be an essential gene, however not much is known about it. We attempted to uncover the function of DMAP1 by creating a series of genetic crosses and selecting for brown eyed non stubble male flies that may have the deletion. To test whether these flies had the deletion, we produced PCR products and ran them on an agarose gel, which resulted as inconclusive. We created a balanced stock of flies homozygous for the deletion to see if the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, wings clipped P elements that lack the inverted repeats (not able to be mobilized themselves), which are not internally deleted and can produce a transposase source, can be introduced to the internally deleted P element to provide transposase and therefore allow transposition to occur. The provided transposase recognizes and binds to inverted repeats on the internally deleted P element, which introduces nicks in the DNA beside the inverted repeats. This allows the element to excise and insert into a new location. If it excises neatly out of the DNA, a deletion will not occur. However, if it excises to a homologue towards the right or the left, due to an error in the excision process, a deletion will occur through this pre meiotic recombination event. This process of P element mobilization is the basis of how we directed recombination in male flies, and therefore the basis of generating deletions in the DMAP1 gene. We made several crosses that allowed P element mobilization to occur in male flies by crossing P element strains (non autonomous) to a transposase source, producing heterozygous flies containing a P element and a transposase source, and therefore allowing us to induce and detect male recombination events in progeny. The specific recombination event of interest is when the P element is mobilized towards the right onto a homologue, which may have induced a deletion in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kennedy, an event that occurred more than fifty years ago, is still being collected and examined by an array of scientists, professional historians, and conspiracy theorists. Periodically, with continuous developments and improvements in technology, new information is being discovered that either relates to an existing theory about the assassination or inspires additional assumptions about the identity and location of another supposed shooter. According to author Don DeLillo, the immense quantity of the information pertaining to the heinous crime committed in Dallas on November 22nd of 1963 will never lead to or reveal a comprehensive and conclusive... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He feels as if he must make meaning out of all the material in his possession and so, because he does not know how to accomplish this, he remains perpetually immobile in his attempt to uncover and write the true history of the assassination. Branch s objective to investigate all the facts about the assassination places him in a chaotic situation. It is impossible for him to account for every detail, fact, and occurrence linked to Kennedy s assassination because there is already too much information for him to examine and much that has yet to be discovered. Christopher M. Mott, in his essay Libra and the Subject of History , comments on Branch s need for absolute closure and the chaotic results that arise: The novel implies that the version of the world that informs our government s practices and dominates our episteme intends to account for every detail of existence. It employs a totalizing discourse, a discourse of rational examination and explanation. Libra clearly indicates that this penchant for total explanation leads, in fact, to total chaos. We simply cannot account for every detail, every nuance. (143) Branch s desire to piece together the factual events of the assassination has led to his abandonment of life. He will forever be confined to his, as DeLillo describes, room of theories (57) since he must study everything about the event. However, the CIA is constantly supplying him ... Economic Impacts of American Fast Food upon Developing Countries Amanda Lee Arkansas School for Mathematics, Sciences, and the Arts Introduction Developments leading up to the 21st century are best characterized by the economic advancements found in countries all over the world. Regardless of the level of these advancements in a country, achieving higher living standards, financial stability, and overall growth of the economy are the perpetual goals for a country. Because every country is unique in terms of their economic, political, and social standings, different methods in order to obtain these goals are to be considered. However, the basic principles for achieving these goals seem to follow the trends of globalization: investment, technological improvements, secure institutions, and a market economy. Countries that benefit the most from globalization are found to be of high growth. The integration of a global economy in a country has prompted entrepreneurs to regard the world as one market in the form of franchising. With that being said, economic success can measure the effects of Western commercial globalization from the results of American fast food franchise. Innovations in technology and society have eradicated the difficulties with communication between different populations. This transition from communal living standards to the interdependence of economies throughout the world will later be known as economic globalization ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Collectivism Is More Rational Than Belief I will be using rationality as the main criterion for evaluating which philosophy is preferable, so the resolution can basically be re stated as belief in collectivism is more rational than belief in individualism . My case revolves around 3 independently functioning reasons for why an affirmation of the resolution is more plausible than a negation of it. I. Collectivism increases the chances of individual success The logic underlying this is simple. A society, by definition, is a group of individuals. So when we value the interests of society , we are really just valuing the interests of the largest possible number of individuals within that society we are valuing the interests of the majority. And since an individual is statistically more likely to part of the majority than the minority (duh), collectivism ensures that any given individual is more likely to have their interests protected than not. Thus, theoretically, collectivism increases the probability of individual prosperity. However, this is not only demonstrable in theory; we can see empirical examples of this holding true in practice as well. Just take a look at nature we can easily observe a large variety of species that instinctively live in large, interactive groups in which collective welfare is valued over individual welfare wolves, elephants, lions, chimpanzees, meerkats, bison, sheep, antelopes, ants, bees, ducks, small fish, and many more fall into this category. There is a reason why such a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Value Of Shame In Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Scarlet Letter Carissa Larriuz Mrs. Gordon English 11 29 April 2018 The Value of Shame In modern culture, it is often used as a great threat and punishment to be publicly shamed, multiple judges of the court even sentence this as a punishment. When the term is used loosely, it appears an inappropriate alternative to jail time, yet when speculated closely, public shame is in some ways worse than being put away in a cell. This can be argued due to the behavior spectators display with involvement in the situation firsthand. I believe that although in some cases public shame could be excessive and not fit the crime correctly, that public shaming is an effective and influential form of punishment for certain crimes. Primitively, According to the 8th... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This concept has existed almost as long as humans themselves, right from the beginning of creation in the story of The Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve were tempted into committing the first crime known to man and once committed they were punished publicly by being unclothed. This nakedness and sense of vulnerability was a form of public shame because their entity was exposed and they were provided this punishment as a reflection of self assessment. This similar idea is conveyed in Nathaniel Hawthorne s novel The Scarlet Letter. In the most basic sense, Reverend Arthur Dimmesdale and Hester Prynne represent the primary characters in the biblical story of the Garden of Eden, Adam and Eve. The first scaffold scene, where Hester stands alone with her baby in her arms, in terms of similarities between the story and the biblical one of Adam and Eve, plays on the biblical fact that Eve is said to have eaten the fruit first and then convinced Adam to eat it afterward. The community s belief that women are, by nature, sinful, is backed up by the interpretation of the biblical story and therefore shown in their acts of ridicule to Hester alone. Overall, the use of public humiliation as a way of instilling social discipline in in many ways highly effective when used suitably. It may lack effectiveness if the offender in question ... While the Spanish Settlers arrived at Hispaniola unexpectedly, like the English; however, the Spanish did not leave Europe because of religion persecution; rather, they wanted to expand their religious belief to the New Word. While in both the English and the Spanish colonization, the Indigenous people were oppressed and enslaved but the English took a different approach. Thereby, although both the English and the European colonized in order to obtain gold and silver to help their countries wealth, the Spanish explorers took a more forceful method of gaining land. Colonialism is the reason the world is how it s today geographically, culturally, socially and in many other aspects. The economic systems such as capitalism was derived from the earliest period of colonialism, with the Spanish imposing taxes on the Indians and the cheap labor the Indians provided. Before railways Canada had been faced with a problem in the winter which was the lack of transportation, railways seemed to transform Canada by providing jobs, illuminating violence, and creating international connections. The creation of the railways in Canada was naturally a big job because of this fact many jobs were created for various Canadians. People were always needed to create the path and do the hard labour that was involved, however, this did not pay well for the very physical work that was involved. Much more people were now being employed to construct the railways and drive the newly built trains around that had carried many goods. The railroad system had also decreased the amount of domestic violence that was being taken place in Canadian society. Before the railroad construction in Canada, many people who grew crops as farmers especially in bulk forms had a very difficult time getting their products to market especially in the winter. For an example, grain, if a farmer was not able to get their goods to the market to sell they would usually turn the grain into whiskey. • 17. The Doctrine Of The Trinity The word Trinity cannot be found in the bible, but neither can omnipresent or omniscient; yet they all describe the Biblical expression of who God is and how he is revealed to humanity. Furthermore, the doctrine of the Trinity is so crucial to Christianity, that if it was removed Christianity would crumble and fall into cult status. Even through the doctrine of the Trinitytook almost a three hundred to be formally stated at the Council of Nicea (325) and the Council of Constantople (381);1 Roger Olsen points out that all one has to do is read second and third century church fathers such as Athenagoras, Tertullian, Irenaeus, Origen or Cyprian to see immediately that Christians believed in the Trinity long before Constantine called all the Christian bishops to the first ecumenical council at Nicea in 325. 2 Thereby, this makes the doctrine of the Trinity part of the Great Tradition of Christian Belief for almost 2000 years.3 Specifically; the Trinity is God who is three distinct entities Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Neither is elevated above the other, rather they exist in perfect unity. The evidence supporting the Trinity can been seen clearly in Scripture, has been affirmed by all branches of Christianity and deeply contrasts all other concepts, such as modalism, Arianism and tritheism. First of all, the clearest display of the Trinity, in the Bible is in the baptism of Christ. The three synoptic Gospel writers, Matthew, Mark and Luke, all point to Jesus being in the ... According to Ole Hanseth et al (2010), reflexive standardization is the process of supporting efforts to bring about order and organization in a function, and instead of achieving positive results, negative results are achieved. Reflexive standardization brings about negative results as a result of failing to be planned adequately from the onset. For instance, take for example the Norwegian hospital; the development of the Electronic Patient Record (EPR) was developed as a fragmented record of databases. The records brought about challenges in the manner in which they were accessed and as a result, there was need to redesign the system. Instead of setting aside a development team to redesign the system based on thorough research, the hospital decided to centralize the database and create several views for different system users to view these records. This was deemed to be the reflexive standardization of the information system. It had both advantages and disadvantages as discussed. Jealousy, By William Shakespeare One of the most powerful and prominent themes that is explored in all three of my chosen texts is jealousy, It is presented in many different ways ranging from sexual and romantic jealousy to professional jealousy of someone of a higher rank or social standing. In every example jealousy is portrayed as being the main cause of self destruction of the characters it afflicts. Othellois driven to madness by his jealousyand this culminates in the murder of his wife, Ferdinand loses his sanity and murders his sister because of his intense jealousy over her lover and his desire to possess her body. Finally, hopeless stalker Jed Parry turns suicidal when his desires and lovetoward Joe are not reciprocated and he becomes increasingly jealous of Joe s girlfriend Clarissa. All three writers explore the effects of jealousy and its potentially fatal consequences which I destroy the characters afflicted by this emotion. Webster, Shakespeare and McEwan suggests that jealousy always leads to self destruction and I will be analysing the causes of jealousy as well as the adverse effects it has on the characters experiencing it. Throughout my chosen texts, there are many different causes of jealousy which affect characters in different ways. Under the Land Reform Act of 1960, monks and nuns received the same amount of land as farmers. This event has destroyed almost all of known civilisation to humans, save various survivors and structures once known as cities. The items I have brought in that are symbolic to the text is the following (pulling them out one by one): A horseshoe (to represent luck and hope), a multi tool (to represent survival), a Jar of ash (to represent the lifelessness and landscape), a can of Coca Cola (to represent the past and the boy in the novel) and finally a simple backpack (to represent a journey). A home computer can have too much security when the user installs two separate security programs. These programs then end up fighting each other and not protecting the computer at all. For a business it can be when the company begins to lose money by having less time to be productive. A simple example would be when a company installs an auto log off feature that terminates a user s session after they do not do any actions for ten minutes. After a month of testing the new feature the employees report that they feel as though they are spending as much time logging in as they are doing any work. To help decide when a system has too much securitycan easily be solved when dealing with obvious issues, but if the task becomes harder the issue can be solved in a formulaic fashion. In the study An Analytical Security Model for Existing Software Systems by Ayaz Isazadeh and a few other researchers, over the course of four years, developed a formula for how much security would be needed per architectural system. This type of study helps more than simple businesses, governments everywhere take the information into consideration when creating or changing their system. • 34. Richard Plantagenet Essay For this project I would like to research the public opinion and reception of the political reforms made by Richard Plantagenet as both Duke of Gloucester and King of England. Upon his brother Edward IV s regaining of the throne in 1471, Richard gained properties and offices in the far north of England previously enjoyed only by lords of long standing families such as the Percys. As Duke of Gloucester, Richard served as an extension of royal power and was charged with constructing some semblance of order. Repeatedly, Richard used his close relationship with the king to settle disputes between nobility and local governments in favor of the latter. This suggests an affinity for the lesser classes that continued during his brief reign. In a previous research project I discussed Richard s 1484 Parliament and how it sought to benefit the general public over the nobility. While this argument was backed by fairly substantial evidence as to the intent of the laws and amendments, the public reaction to them was not addressed. Unfortunately, it is virtually impossible to follow up on the effects of these parliamentary statutes as, after his death in 1485, many of Richard s reforms were eradicated or... The Use Of Lichen And Its Effect On The Environment Lichens are widely distributed in many different areas and can be found inhabited within harsh habitats such as dry arid hot deserts and freezing mountain tops. Environmental factors such as temperature, sun exposure levels, and the pH levels of soil influence the growth of Lichens. Their natural structure and symbiotic relationship with fungus and a photosynthetic partner has given these organisms the ability to survive such harsh and exposed environments. Their ability to absorb substances and minerals dissolved in rain and dew has also enabled Lichento live and survive in such extreme areas, but this ability has had the effect of making them very sensitive to pollutants in the air; and therefore cannot survive in polluted areas such as the city because of automobile traffic such as cars, and industrial activity. Lichen can be found growing within soil, on the surface layer of rocks, and most commonly, they are found growing on the bark of trees (Raven et al. 2010, p. 626 627). • 41. What Is The Idiographic Approach To Study Personality 1)In the idiographic approach to studying personality, the goal is to understand all the specific details, factors and characteristics that make up the personality of a specific individual. There are three different kinds of traits in this approach, central traits, secondary traits, and cardinal traits. These three types allow psychologists to identify traits that are the most important to understanding an individual, traits that are vary in when/how they are revealed, and single traits that completely dominate a personality. To study personality using this approach, psychologists read case studies or have participants complete surveys. In the nomothetic approach, rather than focusing on the traits that can be applied to a specific individual, the focus is on finding traits that can be applied to all people. There are three approaches that are used, often in combination. The theoretical approach begins with a theory, which is then used to determine which variables or traits are important. The lexical approach starts with a lexical hypothesis, and is a good starting point for identifying important trait terms and important individual differences. Lastly, the measurement approach starts with a diverse pool of personality items and the goal is to identify major dimensions of personality. Factor analysis can be used to group items together, determine what variables belong on the same group, and is helpful in reducing a large assortment of diverse traits into smaller, useful ...
