Political Parties And The Democratic Party Essay
Introduction:
Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed.
However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the
government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in American government
are the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs which
they present in their platforms. Democrats believe in the need for intervention by government in
the form of more and bigger programs and agree that there must be fairness in government
regulations and freedom of expression. Republicans however, have more conservative values and
cultivate the importance of family and the efforts made by individuals. They, unlike the Democratic
Party, prefer to keep the power out of the hands of the government. Political parties business and
actions affect every American. Especially when the political party is governing and practicing its
beliefs. The structure of marriage, education, taxes, and defense spending are all topics that
influence the daily lives of American individuals. That is why is it is important to know where
each political party stands.
Marriage and Family:
Republicans describe marriage as the union of one man and one woman and their regulations
revolve around these ideals. They state that children s emotional and physical health is stronger
when they are raised in a household with two parents. To Republicans, natural

Role of Food in Construction of Social Identity Essay
Food is a highly unique commodity, for though it is essential to every single person on earth, there
is no other commodity which is acquired and consumed in such diverse ways. It is a multifaceted
social instrument, serving to connect people across cultural boundaries while simultaneously
drawing lines through society, dividing people across raceand class. Though we have discussed the
connections between certain alternative foodmovements and the creation of a white identity, I
contend that the social mechanisms of food extend beyond the production of whiteness , and are
intricately bound up in the creation and perpetuation of other racial and class identities in Western
society. As the ways in which we consume and engage with food... Show more content on

By compartmentalizing food into such racial categories, the white consumer draws boundaries
between themselves and others .
Alternative movements, such as eating organic, also become performative of an elite sensibility
(Guthman 2003, 52), as food is used as a symbol of certain social and environmental values, while
the consumption of this food bolsters a sense of heightened moral superiority. Product
manufacturers have been particularly astute in rebranding even the most unhealthy of foods, such
as sugar, by re enchanting foods, projecting holistic notions such as the family farm across their
plastic packaging. These supermarket narratives play into consumer desires for healthy foods by
emphasizing freshness and sustainability (Reisch 2003), ideas which complement the white
ideology of food. In consuming these healthier foods, the white middle class consumer often
separates themselves from fast food eaters, who are viewed as mindless fools (Guthman 2003, 55).
Through this, it can be seen that the white consumer often assumes that the choice of what to eat is
similar for all, and is ignorant that levels and practices of food consumption have been shaped by
social ranking and

Aaron Is An Nfl Star
Aaron Hernandez was an NFL star. He was a college player the University of Florida, Hernandez
was an All American player and a member of the BCS National Championship Team. He was
drafted into the New England Patriots in 2010, where he became the youngest active player on
any roster in the NFL (Aaron Hernandez Essay). He was only one of two tight end players on
one of the leading teams in the National Football League. During his 2010 season, he was
named Rookie of the Week by Pepsi; he played in his second season the Super Bowl in the NFL;
and by his third year playing with the Patriots he received the highest signing bonus of an NFL
tight end in history. Other than all of that Hernandez had a dark side to him that had a severe impact

Hernandez not only imitated his father s sports star status playing for the Patriots, but also
became involved with criminals and took on the role of his father s gang type lifestyle and
began using drugs. His lifestyle choices almost prevented him from gaining his success as an
athlete in the NFL. Despite his obvious talents, NFL teams were wary of drafting Hernandez
due to his admitted flunking of a drug test. Privately, many teams also worried about his
association with gang types from his home neighborhood. He fell to the fourth round in the 2010
NFL draft before the New England Patriots selected him with the 113th overall pick (Bio, 2015).
Once he was drafted, Hernandez quickly proved his professionalism as a football player. He had
45 catches in his first year, which was a Patriots team record for the tight ends, helping the team
secure the AFC Championship. In his second year, playing alongside with Rob Gronkowski, he
led the Patriots offense with 24 touchdowns and 2,237 receiving yards, helping secure the team s
position in the Super Bowl XLVI. Then in his third year he was injured, but was still positioned to
become a leader of the team, which was recognized by the Patriots with his sizable signing bonus
(A E, 2015). Although Hernandez would not be indicted for murderuntil 2013, his legal problems
began in early 2007, while still attending the University of Florida.

Jane Austen s Novel And True Classic Sense And Sensibility
There are many authors whose works are considered to be classics; perhaps the most influential is
Jane Austen. Jane Austen wrote six novels, that in today s world, we call classics. Her first novel
and true classic Sense and Sensibility, was published in 1811 at a time when the world was just
starting to write full length novels. Though Jane Austenonly lived to be forty one, she contributed
much too modern literature; such as being one of the first major authors to make use of the three
volume novel, and to use chapters within the volumes (Sweeton). One of the many reasons as to
why Jane Austen s novels are considered classics is due to the fact that she wrote about real
social and financial issues of the day; however, financial and social issues are timeless, therefore
they are still relevant in today s world. As one follows along with the Dashwood sisters in Sense
and Sensibility, we see how the title of the story is very fitting; by providing one sister with sense
and the other with sensibility, the story has two different dynamics that create a timeless classic.
Born in 1775, Jane Austen grew up in a time when the dynamics of the world were constantly
changing. Jane Austen was born in Steventon a village of Hampshire England, to a large family
that consisted of seven other children (Jane Austen). Having an interest in writing since a young
age, one of her first works of writing was a novella titled Lady Susan, a story written in epistle form

Changing American Culture
I remember looking at the pictures of me when I was just a little baby in South Korea. One of
my favorite picture was the one with a beer box on top of my head with a bag of Doritos by
myside. I started out my life with the culture of a Korean, but being adopted from my white parents
and living in American has changed my culturedramatically. Since the age of one, I have
experienced and lived the American culture. I adapted to the things that would seem different from
the Korean culture. Growing up I never took a notice to the fact I had white parents or that they
didn t look the same as me. I Just saw them as my mother and father. Throughout school I was quiet

It doesn t matter if you are younger or older, different gender, class, etc. There is always common
ground when communicating with others. In my personal experiences, I have found it difficult
at times to figure out and understand the way their culture can directly affect my culture. Going
back to when I was in high school, I had a lot of friends that had different cultural backgrounds. I
felt privileged growing up in a nice neighborhood compared to some of my friends that didn t
have that opportunity. Growing up my parents always wanted me to get good grades so that I
could get into a good school and be successful. One of the biggest privileges I have noticed was
that I haven t had to pay for college. My parents saved since I was a child to have enough money
for me to go to college. When talking to my friends from different cultures they see that as a
privilege that they do not have. Personally, I don t feel any responsibility toward those who lack
that privilege, but sometimes I try to figure out if I can help in

Reincarnation Is A Philosophical Idea
Introduction:
The purpose of this report is to make the audience aware about the strange yet intriguing superstition
that is reincarnation.
What Reincarnation Is Believed To Be:
Reincarnation is a philosophical religious concept where the aftermath of a drastic, liberating
biological death results in the soul being reborn into another body. The self explanatory Latin
definition expressing the words entering the flesh again. Indians are one of the strong main
believers of reincarnation whilst Christians are strictly against the believing of this practice.
Recorded cases of reincarnation are between the ages of two and five years old and sometimes a
questioning seven years at the oldest. Many people are impervious to the idea of a soul because of
how completely encased it is around around religious and dogma credulity. Some scientists quite
confidently adhere that being able to consciously detach from the body and rehabilitating towards a
new body does indeed happen. Scientists figure that it is a result from dramatic death experiences.
Scientific Proof Of Existence:
There is in fact hard evidence of soul existence and reincarnation. This is quite a large fact to a
claim to, but reincarnation is indisputable and cannot be attributed to many explanations apart
from chance being the most logical. But like lots of other situations we do not necessarily need
hard copy proof to believe in something. For example, if the news was to tell us that there is a
65% chance that it will

The Future of Human Factors in Aviation
The Future of Human Factors in Aviation
The International Ergonomics Association (2000) defines human factors:
The scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other
elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and other methods to
design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance.
The science of human factors in aviation has a come along way since the days of the Wright
brothers in 1913 but it did not actually start with them. According to Dr. Bill Johnson, Chief
Scientist at the Federal Aviation Administration, human factors dates back to the 1600s when
Leonardo da Vinci drew the Vitruvian Man, with all the anthropometric measures, [when] he was
trying to decide if a human was strong enough to propel an aircraft (FAA, 2012). Long after the
work of da Vinci, human factors has brought advancements to aircraft design while creating a
greater understanding of the human role in mishaps.
Brief History of Human Factors
Long after Leonardo da Vinci, human factors research originated with aviation (Salas et al., 2010).
Once the pioneers of aviation began taking to the air, the quest for safety and efficiency began with
an ever increasing fervor. Aviation accidents have long been viewed as spectacular and with the
spectacle of an accident comes the public outcry over safety. While not all human factors research
deals with accidents, the majority of money put into the

Thesis Techniques In Disgrace
Disgrace An old dog will learn no new tricks, no matter what. In Disgrace J.M. Coetzee is using
an exploiting and self centered perpetrator to portray the situation of the post apartheid South
Africa. Through the eyes of David Lurie, a fifty two year old English professor, the changing of
the former social hierarchy is depicted. Lurie is twice divorced and solves the problem with sex
rather scandalously. He is using his position as a teacher to seduce one of his more vulnerable
students, Melanie Isaacs. When facing a committee of inquiry Lurie is willing to admit his guilt,
but refusing to yield to repent. After losing his dignity and respect Lurie resigns from his post and
seeks refuge at his daughter s smallholding. LurieВґs daughter Lucy runs a farm independently in

This Lurie strongly disagrees to, but most likely Lucy will give in to the offer due to her love to
the farm. Coetzee depicts the white rule of apartheid through the characteristics of David Lurie.
Lurie himself never comes to the insight that his actions are wrong. When trying to seduce Melanie

the bounty she brings to the world. She has a duty to share it (Coetzee 16). Not only does this

flip flounders, 64 DSP48E cuts, and 148 square RAMs with 36 Kb size. There are 32 worldwide
clock systems and the load up clock could accomplish 550 MHz clock speed, which completely
fulfills the framework necessities. Table 3.1 and Table 3.2 abridge the region results concerning
asset utilization, and the clock and timing results for the transmitter and recipient, separately. The
timing reports created from Xilinx Timing Analyzer instrument shows no timing clash in the
configuration. The greatest frequency is sufficiently expansive to create 40 MHz clock and drive

Restaurant Analysis
Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ is located in Lexington, South Carolina right off of Highway Six. It
is a small restaurant, but large for a barbecue place. The building is a rectangle shape, inside and
out, the inside is split into sections, two sections for seating, a section for the drive thru window,
and a section for the drinks and BBQ sauces. When I visited Maurice s, half of the seating was
blocked off, I am guessing it is only used for larger parties, and the other half is full of families
and couples, sweet tea filling all of their styrofoam cups. The drive thru window is busy with
people in cars being handed food and drinks, and waitresses running around bringing customers
their food. All the floors I can see are a white tile, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The key for a restaurant to run smoothly and efficiently, especially when there is only one
register, like Maurice s, is to have a well designed menu to explain the sandwiches and
combinations enough so the customer will not spend a lot of time asking the cashier questions.
The main menu on display in Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ does just that. Another important
aspect the menu has is the prices, which were a little higher than I had expected, some items
were priced at almost twenty dollars. When I visited Maurice s, I ordered a serving of banana
pudding and five hush puppies and the order ended up costing just over seven dollars, which is a
whole meal and a milkshake at Cookout. I imagine the owner s have to have it at this price, since
everything is homemade and real southern cooking. The prices also keep the noisy, crazy college
students away, making the restaurant more of a family establishment, attracting families and
older people, the type of people who do not mind to spend a little more for better quality food.
Maurice s menu not only serves the obvious functions of showing customers what is served and at
what cost, but it also brings people together. The menu represents the food people come in to order,
so they can sit down and eat together. This heart of the restaurant shows the love that is shown here
when families choose to eat at Maurice s together, instead of eating by themselves or eating in

Analysis Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi
In a world with billions of people there are bound to be countless opinions of how society should
be run. Some believe that every person should be treated with respect and equality, while others
see a distinct division between those who deserve humane treatment and those who do not. In his
autobiography, Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi reveals just how greatly this difference has
influenced the lives of millions by recalling his experience in the infamous concentration camp,
Auschwitz. Primo Levi is caught between colliding cultures; while part of his book is dedicated
to criticizing the SS officers for their cruelty, a greater focus is placed on the tactics that he
adopted in order to survive in the camp, both mentally and physically. Levi s transition from a life

While this may seem counterintuitive and that Levi could have benefitted from holding on to
hope, he explains that, in the face of driving necessity and physical disabilities many social
habits and instincts are reduced to silence (Levi 187). To put faith in the unlikely chance of
being rescued and reunited with family would prove to be wasteful because that energy could
have been better used to accumulate necessary survival tactics. However, his most distinct
survival tactic was his reliance upon others. He particularly found life within Lorenzo, a man
who, was outside this world of negation , and whose humanity was pure and uncontaminated
(Levi 122). Most other prisoners looked out solely for themselves and neglected social
interaction, which therefore caused loneliness to build on top of the rest of their suffering. By
allowing himself to confide in Lorenzo, [He] managed not to forget that [he himself] was a man
(Levi 122). Were it not for Lorenzo, Levi would not have stayed afloat in the sea of pain and

The Holy Land. What comes to mind when those words are read? To those living in Palestine and
Israel The Holy Land is the center of an ongoing and seemingly endless conflict. Two countries,
both unwilling to acknowledge the others existence, battling over land that holds a key role in

Summary Of Giambologna s The Rape Of The Sabine Women
The era of Mannerism is renown for its increasingly complex works of art, much like the High
Renaissance before it, and the discipline of sculpture is no exception. Out of this period comes
more intricate poses, forms, and emphasis on the illusion of movement which is perhaps most
evident in Giambologna s The Rape of the Sabine Women. His sculpturedepicts a young man
attempting to carry a struggling young woman as he stands over the contorted body of an older
man, either the woman s husband or father. What is interesting about this work is not only the
realistic human forms and perceived chaos of the moment, but also the lack of a dominant side
from which this sculpture would be viewed. In order to achieve these features, Giabologna utilizes
a combination of various textures and diagonallines to create the complete illusion of muscle, flesh,
energy, and multiple focus points.
Before analyzing Giambologna s use of diagonal lines to create various focal points and energy
in the work; first, the most compelling aspect of the sculpture must be examined which is his
utilization of implied textures. For instance, there is an implied texture of thickness and body to
each character s hair which is achieved through fine grooves to show individual locks as well as
deep grooves to create shadows and thus the idea of the hair s volume. In comparison, a similar
concept is seen in the beards of the two men where the deep grooves and shadow give the
appearance of a thick beard in the

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay
In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events
surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic
children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left
open to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghoststory to a tale of
manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings
from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that
the apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. When reading the
novella with this interpretation, it should also be seen in a satirical manner,... Show more content on

Quint is described as being dressed in somebody s clothes. They re smart, but they re not his

Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat
of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The
doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen
in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the
window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When
Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the
same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both
women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological
fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her

Coconut Oil For A Saponification Of Organic Chemistry In...
Abstract Despite most organic chemistry laboratories utilizing coconut oil for a saponification
reaction in laboratories, little has been done to utilize an alternative, more superior, oil for the
reaction. An extremely common allergy to have is to be allergic to nuts, and more specifically
coconuts. When laboratory experiments are conducted using coconut oil it endangers the lives
of students and laboratory personal. Coconut oil is also more expensive than other oils that
could potentially be used in the chemical process. After researching alternatives, it has been
determined that vegetable oil would be the most viable alternative to coconut oil due to its low
cost as well as its fairly high reaction rate. If college and high school laboratories would switch to
a vegetable based oil instead of the more standard coconut oil, then students and staff with
allergies would be safer, the cost for the overall laboratory experiment would be lower, as well as a
consistently high reaction rate.
I.INTRODUCTION
The saponification reaction is one of the most basic foundational blocks for any chemistry major.
The reaction is typically around one hour and consists of the mixings of a fatty oil such as coconut
oil, vegetable oil, bio waste oils (used cooking oil), or other oils and a base such as sodium
hydroxide. The set up for the laboratory experiment is very important, you need to have a

Analysis Of One Love Under God By H. Norman Wright
Week One Reflection As things in this world seem to go by faster and faster each year; we
seldom take the time to remember why we fell in love with our significant other in the first place.
While reading One Love Under God , by H. Norman Wright, it made me think back to the beginning
of my relationship with my husband. Being a divorced mom of a beautiful daughter I wanted
someone that could loveme the way I desired to be loved and cared for. I had never expected to get
a divorce from my first husband, but one to many times of adultery was enough in my books. We
had tried and tried to make things work, but he could not change his ways. I am committed to make
this marriagework not only for our children, but for each other. Wright says, Marriage keeping
involves preserving, caring for, and honoring marriage. This is a commitment to do whatever it
takes, not just for our own marriage, but for others, too (Wright, 2005, p. 15). I desire to be a
keeper of marriage, not only mine, but to also help others who are struggling to find that love
they once had. I feel that more people should help support others in any way they can, including
relationships. Marriage is tough and having a good support system to keep you focused, is
important. I can relate to Wright when he states, One common problem is that so many of us are
concerned first with our own personal happiness and self fulfillment in marriage and then with the
happiness of our spouses (p. 21). In my own

Jaycee later on got pregnant two times. She now has two beautiful baby girls that are growing up

Egon Schiele s Portrait Of Wally Essay
Art, in essence, is one of the most crucial pieces of cultural history. It transcends language,
emanates emotion, provokes thought, and stimulates imagination. In other words, art is of
monumental value in its scope of what befalls under its umbrella. It was no wonder why during
the Nazi regime from 1933 1945 that the Nazis would thieve some of Europe s most treasured
works but also those deemed degenerate. Egon Schieles Portrait of Wally is a perfect example as to
what degenerate art would be considered and what the Nazis would have been interested in
seizing, but why? Egon Schiele s Portrait of Wally is a figurative oil painting depicting Walburga
Neuzil. In this painting, a medium to close up view of Neuzil as she gazes out of the picture
with blue, oversized eyes. She wears a black gown with a white lace collar. Her hair is red, curly
and short. Her head lowered with an inviting charm. A sort of melancholic aura and sadness looms
in the painting.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In their relationship over the ensuing years, Neuzil would become Schiele s model, muse, and
lover. Although four years her senior, Schiele would rely on Neuzil for her care and as
inspiration for his work. A pivotal moment of their relationship occurred when Schiele was taken
into investigative custody for abduction of a minor. Although the charges brought against him
were groundless, Schiele served time in prison for 24 days for distribution of indecent drawings.
During his prison sentence, Neuzil visited Schiele every day to provide art supplies and prove
her devotion. The relationship subsequently came to an end in June of 1915 when Schiele
married Edith Harms. Schiele and Neuzil never met again. Neuzil became a nurse for the war
effort and died on Christmas day of 1917 of scarlet fever in Croatia. Schiele would die months later
from Spanish flu on the 31st of

Upper-Extremity Trauma Case Study
Studies and surveys have shown that upper extremity injuries are a common result of pitching
through youth, high school, and collegiate baseball leagues. There have been surveys taken to
show the relation of elbow and shoulder injuries and pitching. Statistics taken describe (1) the
proportion of pitchers with a history of pitching related upper extremity injury (2) proportion of
pitchers with w history of pitching related elbow and shoulder injury that was treated through
surgery (3)types of upper extremity injuries sustained by pitchers and (4) types of upper
extremity injuries sustained by a certain age category around the same time of injury. Due to the
results of this survey, I find pitching a very relevant subject when dealing with elbow and
shoulder injuries. 1464 packets were sent out to 96 institutions and, out of the 629 consent forms
and questionnaires mailed back, results have shown that 73 percent of injuries that resulted in
surgery are sustained by pitchers. 71.7 percent of these pitchers played for universities in the
National Collegiate Athletic Association Division I, 12.4% were in DII, 14% in DIII, and 1.9%
were in the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. The average age of these pitchers was
20.1 21.6 years old.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means half of shoulder/elbow injuries reported by baseball players were from high school
athletes, and the other half from college and professional league athletes. The elbow injuries
sustained after age 18 were more likely to be treated surgically. The study data shows that injuries
are more common and more severe as pitchers move from high school to college, which suggests
that pitchers practice the correct pitching technique early in their career to prevent pitching related

The development and expression of Judaism from its start in God s revelation to one person
(Abraham) to the important worldwide religion of today is due to the contribution of a number of
significant people and schools of thought and of course the continuation of the community of
believers worldwide. One of these special people was Moses Maimonides. * Using the above
information and the diagram on the next page, explain how Christianity, Judaism and Islam are
linked.
All 3 religions can trace their origins back to a common source and that is the leaders of each of the
religion can be traced back to Adam. This means that all 3 religions have some aspects of
commonality such as the belief of 1 god and all people are descendants of Adam and Eve.

rabbinic discussions on all aspects of Jewish life and includes religious law, ethics, customs and
the stories which define the religious history. The Talmud is made up of two parts: Mishneh;
and the Gemara which is a literary expansion of the ideas in the Mishneh. The Torah is also called
the Law, and is the written law. The Talmud is referred to as the oral law, and it has become the
basis for all later codes or writings of Jewish law. Of all the

The Ethics Of Non Voluntary Active Euthanasia
The idea of non voluntary active euthanasia is not such a disaster, as euthanasia itself. The problem
that comes into consideration is when and why it should be used. When euthanasia is non voluntary
and active, such as on a patient with dementia, the ethical decision comes into play if there are
episodes of clarity and the patient has or has not mentioned what they want to do at the end of life
situations. Principles of deontology suggest dutyand obligation. A medical professional in such
situations have an obligation to fulfill the patient s wishes. The nature of their obligation does not
sway based on what they personally think. Patients with dementia have some moments of clarity,
but because their brains are still deteriorating, non ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Kant s explanation should determine where non voluntary active euthanasia falls on that
spectrum. Morally permissible looks at what is allowed by people from a moral perspective.
This differs in a different place. In the UK, euthanasia, in general, is moral. It can be broken
down using Kant s theory by saying, why has the doctor performed non voluntary active
euthanasia, or why will the doctor perform non voluntary active euthanasia? . By applying Kant s
theory, a doctor performing this duty is doing so morally. A patient ridden with dementia, cannot
make medical decisions. The doctor has performed this procedure because of medical obligation.
The doctor will perform the procedure because of the condition of the patient. It is permissible
morally because the patient himself cannot deny the obligation the doctor should perform the
procedure based on the patient s condition. For the sake of the doctor s duty, he or she is obeying
moral law based on the virtue of his or her morality. In order to fully understand why the doctor
must perform the non voluntary active euthanasia on a patient with dementia who has moments of
clarity, there is another understanding that must be accomplished. If the doctor did not perform this
same procedure on this same patient what would happen?

Coffee Is A Supply Of Money
Introduction
A resource is a supply of money, material, staff or other things of value (assets or commodities)
that can be readily drawn upon when needed or used to produce wealth. Coffee is cultivated in
over 70 countries, however is most effectively grown in the equatorial regions of the world such
as The Americas, Africa, Southeast Asia and India. It can in some cases be grown in subtropical
regions as well. Coffee is a resource that is grown on bushes (therefore being a renewable
resource), varying on value depending on its quality and type (two most common types being
Arabica and Barista). Secondly only to oil coffee is the second most valuable legally traded

There is an Ethiopian legend which says coffee was discovered by a goat herder which noticed
his goats frolicking, full of energy after consuming the small red fruits from the coffee shrub.
The herder tried the fruits and had a similar reaction. Before coffee became the morning
beverage we know it as today it had many different forms of which it was consumed. From a
wine like beverage too just eating the fruit as it was found. The Arabians started the roasted
coffee phenomenon we know today way back in the 13th Century. By parching or boiling the
coffee beans the Arabs were able to corner the market on coffee crops. In fact this was so
affective it is believed not a single coffee plant existed outside Arabia or Africa until the 1600 s.
Fertile beans were smuggled out by an Indian pilgrim aboard a string across his abdomen. This
started the European coffee trade; however the Europeans couldn t grow the plant in their home
countries so they planted elsewhere. The Spanish planted in Central America, the Portuguese in
Brazil and The French in the Caribbean and the Dutch (first to open a coffee estate in 1616) in Sri
Lanka.

Self Disclosure Essay example
To disclose or not to disclose?, That question usually comes when you start a new relationship
with a friend, a boy friend, a new job or any new relationship, but disclosing can also happen with
people we have known for a long time or not. Scholars define self disclosure as sharing
information with others that they would not normally know or discover, but I feel like each
person has his or her own way of defining what self closure is. To me, self disclosure is letting
myself go and trusting the person I am disclosing to, it involves risk and vulnerability on my part
sharing important information to someone. Therefore I go back to the question I posed before, do

very and happy relationship where I allowed myself to let go and have someone I can talk to things
that I would not want to bother my mother with. and also allowed myself to let him know of my
deepest fears and my inner most feelings When it comes to self disclosure at work, I am not one to
disclose to my co workers since I feel like my private life and my work place are two different
entities and what I may tell my co worker can be used against me one day, therefore I disclose as
less as possible. The realizations I have on self disclosure is that, it is one way of letting my self
go. Letting another human being know my inner most feelings and my fears. I am a very
private person and I tend to not say much about myself unless I know the person very well. I tend
to not to like people who disclose a lot of information to me mainly if we do not have a very close

that human beings are naturally equal; that means everybody including the slaves has the human

Examples Of Format A Resume
1 Format your resume. It is vital to make the right first impression to your prospective employers
because the first thing that will jump into their sight is how well organized your resume is. In
most cases, your resume will not get a thorough reading at the first time no matter how well
written. Therefore, it is a good idea to make your resume attractive and readable by formatting.
There are some useful tips for you to format your resume. First, keep your resume short and
simple. Most people do not need more than two pages unless you have extensive related skills and
experience. Second, invite employers attention by using wide margins and a logical format. A
logical format contributes to the effect of the overall design and wide margins... Show more content

3 Make your content shine. The description of your education and work experience is the core of
your resume, which is also the section that employers will mainly focus on. Therefore, making
your content interesting and descriptive will enable your resume to stand out from competitors.
Here are some ways that can help your resume gets noticed. First, use active voice and expressive
verbs to describe the specific things that you have done. These can highlight your ability and
skills, and spice up your resume to make it stand out. For example, if you were an administrative
assistant, you might want to use words such as scheduled and coordinated . You can use them by
writing Scheduled and coordinated appointments. Another good way to make your content shine
is to put more emphasis on your achievements and accomplishments. By emphasizing the results
you have delivered with specific facts and highlighting the ways you have added value in the
past, you will be able to demonstrate your ability and skills for solving problems with convincing
evidence. The last effective way is to choose a descriptive title for your previous job position. For
instance, instead of saying you were a secretary, say you were an administrative assistant. In
addition, think about how well the title can describe the job. For example, manager is a vague

Tartarsals
At the bottom of the Missouri s streams lives the Lampsilis siliquoidea mussels where it lives
out its life cycle. How it lives it s brilliant life cycle is first by luring a smallmouth bass over to it
by copycatting the movement and the appearance of a Tartars fish tail which is actually the skin
of the mussels which has over time evolved. Once the bass notices the lure and strikes the lure the
muscle spews out a white cloud into the bass s mouth and gills which happen to be thousands of
larvaes where they will live off the bass for nutrients. Its also safer for them to transition from
larvae into juvenile mussels. After a couple of weeks the young mussels abandon the bass dropping
leaving the basses unharmed and unaware of what happened making... Show more content on

I never imagined they would be using a fish and other smallmouth basses to spread their
younglings. What surprised me the most about these different mussels was how much they have
evolved into the different ways they disrupted their youngs. For example the Higgins eye
pearlymussel has flaps that represent a minnows in their appearance and the mussels move this
flap imitating the tail movement of the minnow. Then the fishes will bite down on the flap
making the mussels distribute their larvae into their gills. Others will take a less freeloading
approach and use their tongue like a foot moving up riverbanks where they spread their larvae
making this approach less about waiting for a host but will not guarantee that most of the larvae
will survive until youthhood. I think personally the best way for these creatures to repopulate is to
use the method that the fish snapper use which I think happens to be the most riskiest too. As I
explained before in the early paragraph the snapper will display its flesh and snapping its mouth
closed onto the head of the fish force feeding its larvae into the mouth of the fish. Overall I thought
that this was a very interesting article that brought attention to how mussels repopulate in different

Lab On A Chip Lab Report
Introduction The research is specifically carried out on Particle Sorting using the interplay between
the Travelling Surface Acoustic Wave and the Stationary Surface Acoustic Wave. Sorting individual
cells/particles of interest from a heterogeneous population has been of critical importance in
biological studies and clinical applications, such as single cell sequencing, rare cell isolation, and
drug screening. The introduction of lab on a chip (i.e.,

Displacement of acoustic waves is also helpful in creating particle mobility required for separation
of particles in a static fluid volume. In batch systems, with very small samples in contact with a
substrate, separation has been shown using acoustic streaming in droplets, in an open chamber and
in a channel.
Description of Research Methodology In this research we will examine the use of acoustic
radiation forces alone for particle separation in a system, and demonstrate that the controllability
of this type of acoustic force allows highly specific separation. SAW is generated by a spatially
periodic electrical field to create a resonant condition on a piezoelectric substrate.
Further, in TSAW a wavetravels through the substrate and in case of SSAW, there are 2 counter
propagating wave. We will utilise both TSAW and SSAW; the former acts to push the particles
across the chamber, the latter to capture particles in bands of minimum force potential. The system
will consist of a microfluidic chamber, cast in polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS), and bonded onto a
lithium niobate, LiNbO3 (LN) piezoelectric substrate.
The device will be held under a microscope using a frame. The

Australian Kooala s Natural Habitats
As an Australian native marsupial, the koala has been listed as endangered across majority of its
natural habitats. At one point, its population had grown to almost 10 million, but has dropped to
100,000 or less still in the wild because of human activity. Many have taken action to restore the
population of the koala. The koala s background proves that their population decline is effected
mainly on humans. Numerous people refer to the koala as a koala bear, but in reality it is a
marsupial, similar to a wombat. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South
Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests
where its main food source is the leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to
15 years. While it may have no natural predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face,
hands, and feet which can make it vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although
other factors like fires harm koalas, humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not

The Pros And Cons Of Visas In Australia
We will no longer allow 457 visas to be passports to jobs that could and should go to Australians .
This is what Mr Turnbull said in a video posted to Facebook on April 18 this year marking the
beginning to a series of changes to the 457 visa.
The Temporary Work (skilled) (subclass 457) visa is a visa that lets a skilled worker travel to
Australia to work in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor for up to four years
(Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection), most importantly this
can only happen providing that the sponsor could not find an Australian citizen to do the work (The
Australian, April 18, 2017). Earlier this year in April, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull announced

In April, the same month as Mr Turnbull s announcement, the 651 professions eligible for a 457
visa was cut down to 435 eligible occupations. This 33% cut might appear to be a drastic change,
however 18 of these occupations haven t been used in the past decade and include jobs such as
deer farmers and turf growers. Additionally, 46 occupations have never been approved to foreign
workers for the twenty years that the 457 visa has been in place.
Removing occupations such as foreign Ship s masters and picture framers will not return jobs to
Australians. But not only did the government remove these trivial occupations, they also decided to
remove certain scientist, ICT support technicians and engineers.
The IT sector employs the largest percentage of 457 visa workers by field (14.1%) and is one of
Australia s fastest growing industries with a current value of $79 billion projected to grow to $139

Access Economics, in Australia there were 640,000 workers employed in IT in 2016,
approximately 2% (14,000) of whom were sponsored by the 457 visa. Not only is the problem of
foreign workers stealing our jobs over exaggerated, the report projects that 100,000 more IT

By having requirements to return archaeological findings back to their native tribes entirely,
archaeologists are limited in their discoveries and possibly their job. An archaeological

critically important parts of Kennewick Man s skull such as his teeth, but return the rest of the

deriving information from an archaeological discovery such as a skull, but NAGPRA should give
archaeologists the right to keep the most important parts of discoveries for scientific use and then

Essay about Swannanoa Palace
Swannanoa Palace is a beautiful mansion that rests atop Afton Mountain in Nelson County
Virginia. It was built over an eight year time period by James Dooley as a token of love for his
wife, Sallie Dooley. The name was given to their home in honor of Sallie s love for swans and
how they choose one mate for life. Construction of this palace was completed in 1912 with the
effort of 300 artisans and two contractors. The couple also had another home in Richmond, Virginia.
This home was formally known as Maymont . The name was derived from Sallie s maiden name
May, and the french word for hill Mont. This home was extraordinary for it s time. It was a 12,000
square foot home that was divided into 33 rooms. The Dooley s were very... Show more content on

It also consisted of a library, this was exceptional in it s own, not to mention the the Latin
quotations in the woodwork. The walls in the Louis XV style ballroom were covered with
golden fabric, it also contains a mantle with angels carved into it s marble surface. Swannanoa
was made up of 52 rooms, including the ones mentioned above. The exterior of this palace was
just as incredible as the inside. In Rome, there is a building called the Villa Medici, from this,
the contractors and artisans created the appearance of Swannanoa. The Dooley s built their
palace on 126 acres of land just above the Rockfish Gap. This home is truly astonishing, inside
and out. The history of Swannanoa is just as engaging as the palace itself. The history of it being
built is something very significant in it s history. The construction of this palace in 1912 was
marked at $2 million dollars. However, building a house of those means today would be priced
at over $20 million dollars. Swannanoa was built over a time period of eight years. Two
contractors were hired from Waynesboro, Va Mr. Ellis and Virgil Moyer. This palace has had
many purposes throughout it s 97 years of existence. It was originally built by James Dooley as a
Summer home and a token of love for his wife. After James and Sallie passed away, Swannanoa
was sold and turned into Swannanoa Country Club, which was abandoned when the stock market
crashed. In 1948, Walter and

The Impact Of Native Schools On M Ж’Г„ Ori Society Essay
Discuss the impact of the introduction of native schools on MДЃori society.
The establishment of Native Schools around New Zealand in 1867 had many pulverizing effects
which exceeded the few benefits associated with having Native Schools. Native Schools were
fundamentally village day schools set up in rustic areas providing MДЃori children with European
education under the Native Schools Act 1867. Native Schools were managed to be a medium for
the State to gain social control over the MДЃori population and to assimilate MДЃori into civilised
law abiding citizens . This essay will investigate how the State promoted/pushed cultural
homogeneity through the education system at Native Schools as an approach to attain their ideal
outlook of Europeanising and gaining full control over the MДЃori population and their resources.
MДЃori and PДЃkehДЃ had very different aspirations for the establishment of Native Schools from
the very start (Bishop 1996:76). While MДЃori wanted to further enhance their knowledge to battle
the threat forced by the vicinity of PДЃkehДЃ the main focus of the State was merely to control
MДЃori society through assimilation (Simon 1998:106). The fact that MДЃori had to provide land
for which the school was to be built on, and to additionally pay for half the portion of the
development expenses of the school and one quarter of the teacher s wages demonstrates that the
setting up of native schools resulted in a financial burden to the MДЃori society (Duncan 2014).

The United States Contribution to the Rise of Pinochet
The date September 11th is not only a date of terror for the United States, but for the country Chile
it also marks the anniversary of a new error of fear. On September 11th, 1973 General Augusto
Pinochet overthrew President Salvador Allende, a democratically elected socialist. For seventeen
years after this Pinochet dictated over Chile and caused for the murder of over three thousand
Chileans, the disappearance of over a thousand, and the torture and jailing of tens of thousands
more. What might be even more shocking though, is that the United States had a direct contribution
to this brutal dictators rise. The United States fear of communist nations developing and ... Show

Once in power, Pinochet was assisted by the United States to remain in power. Secretaryof State
Henry Kissinger attempted to hide from Congress and the media the breaking of human rights acts
that Pinochet was responsible for. Only a month after he came into power reports from the CIA
came in stating that Pinochet planned to destroy any and all resistance within two months and this
will require more killing by the military. With this knowledge Kissinger, rather than accusing
Pinochet of breaking human rights laws, attempted to outmaneuver the U.S. Congress to supply
Pinochet with weapons that Congress had denied (Landau 1999, pages 16 17). This support
allowed Pinochet to gain a complete dictatorship. As ruler he closed the Chilean Congress, banned
political parties, censored the press and took over the universities. Through the United Sates lack of
action and assistance toward him, Pinochet used his ability to violate human rights standards and
rule over the population with terror for seventeen years (Kornbluh 2003, pages 19 22).
This cruel dictatorship, was one, Kissenger could have prevented (Landau 1999, pages 17).

Comparing The Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce ET...
Comparing The Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce ET Decorum EST
The poems The Charge of the Light Brigade and Dulce ET Decorum EST are war poems. They
reflect on two different but equally harrowing events, however the poets portray these events using
their own style and the and result is two entirely different views of war.
Alfred Tennyson wrote the Charge of the Light Brigade in 1854 and it is about the battle of
Balaclava in the Crimean war. Although this battle had no real influence on the outcome of the war
it showed the bravery of six hundred British soldiers who charged into almost certain death. The
poem itself is a patriotic ballad keeping up with the tradition of the time. The poem is heroic and
romantic. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the other hand however he can also speed up the poem Storm d at with shot and shell, While
horse and hero fell , to give a sense of frenzy.
Owen s use of punctuation to convey a mood is depicted here His hanging face, like a devils sick
of sin; If you could hear, at every jolt, the blood come gargling from the froth corrupted lungs .
Although there are many similarities between the poems if you were to read them each shows
an entirely different aspect of war. Tennyson glamorises the war. His views of the war are very
positive and he sees it as an opportunity for a man to prove himself. He speaks of the qualities of
these men, of their bravery. They are charging in to almost certain death but yet they still follow
orders and fight on in the valley of death . He doesn t speak of the fact that this was a huge
mistake by the general to send his men into almost certain death. He reflects the popular and
widespread opinion of the time, which was that war was a great thing and all young men looked
forward to being able to serve and die for their country. The main reason for this belief was that
there hadn t been a major war fought in Britain for the past two hundred or so years and people
didn t realise the horrors that war brought. Tennyson s poem has none of the gory details of Dulce
ET Decorum EST . Tennyson s poem is removed from the sordid

The Purpose: To learn about the separation techniques that are based on the chemical properties of a
substance. Observe the separation of the mixtures and their component substances. Learning how to
compute the percentage a component makes up of the overall mix. The mixture contains iron filling,
sand, benzoic acid, and table salt. From the visual observation of the mixture, it looks like it has a
large amount of benzoic acid crystals compared to the others.
Procedure:

Gender Stereotypes In Australian Sport
With being involved in several sports at home it was a big interest to me to learn and be around
Australian sports. Though the States and here have some popular sports in common, Australia has a
few that aren t common back in the states like Rugby, Cricket, and AFL, which are very popular
sports. Sports might seem like an easy topic but underneath there are several things that cause
controversy, like national identity, sexism, and racism.
When someone asks what demographics make you think of Australia you may hear many say
beaches, tan surfers, and kangaroos. And if someone were to ask identify an Australian sport player
you might get a big bulky male rugby player . Things are stereotyped. It is important to recognize
that sport in Australia began almost immediately after the nation was colonized in 1788. Sport
reinforced other views of Australian national identity, which is male dominated. Men and women

I think sexism is slowly going in a forward direction especially here on campus but its still
definitely a problem throughout the nation. Currently there is only a men s rugby team on
campus however a friend of mine have mentioned to the university that there should be a women
s rugby team and are starting to put one together. Women s sports are belittled. Women don t get
enough respect clearly being pointed out by the ASC. They have found that media coverage for
male sport is at 81 percent compared to women sport, which is at 8.7 percent. It s astonishing to
me that there is such a gap still in this day and age. Women athletes work just as hard as men.
Same goes for the amount women are paid compared to what men are paid. New.com.au states
This means women are currently earning just 81.8 cents for every dollar their male colleagues
earn, down from an average of 85.1 cents ten years

According to (Carpenter Huffman, 2012, p. 121), there are four stages of sleep; the first four
are called non REM state then the last and final state is called REM )Rapid Eye Movement).
When the sleep cycle starts it lasts an average of 1 2 hours; the first sleep cycle has relatively
short REM sleep followed by a long period of deep sleep. Later in the sleep cycle REM period
lengthen and deep sleep time decreases. Even though cats tend to sleep longer than human its shows
that they have slept similar patterns as humans, including sleep phases of REM stage. When human
enter REM stage, breathing becomes more rapid, irregular and shallow; the eyes start to move
rapidly back and forth. In this stage, the limb muscles become temporarily paralyzed.

The Bombing Of Oklahoma City
The period between 1995 and 2005 is very memorable in America s history. There are several
incidences and occurrences that unfolded which helped in shaping and framing the current United
States of America. The bombing of Oklahoma City is a major epic event that still lingers in the
minds of most Americans. However, there is much to contemplate and deduce based on the
incidence of 19th April 1995. The music industry also experienced drastic changes between this
time frame and analyzing these changes is pivotal in understanding the history of America and may
assist in predicting the changes to be expected within the next one decade. Evolution and
advancement in technology are also a crucial part of the discussion of American history and the
emergence of the digital era. It is, therefore, worth appreciating and acknowledging the past since it
forms part of our identity.
Timothy McVeighwas the main accuser in the case of Oklahoma City bombing. The bomb
exploded during the early morning hours of 19th April 19, 1995. Despite being an ex military
officer, Timothy was the main conspirator, and he used a rented truck to bomb the downtown side
of the Oklahoma City. The accused had parked the truck on the rear part of the Alfred P. Murrah
Federal Building, which is located in the downtown of Oklahoma City. According to the FBI, the
powerful bomb mounted on the truck was made of a mixture of diesel fuel, agricultural fertilizers
and traces of other chemicals ( Oklahoma City Bombing ).

have significant effect on the management style of the managers, and these variables were critical
in shaping management styles in the three electronic plants. These four variables are: the initial

North-South Vs Ldcs
The rivalry of the North South really is a comparison of developed countries versus undeveloped
countries. Countries and states in the Northern Hemisphere generally contain societies that are
much more advanced technologically, economically, socially, and politically than their Southern
hemisphere counter parts.
Northern societies have the advantages derived from coalescing indigenous groups into autocratic
societies over that past 500 years. This allowed them to dedicate a large amount of resources to
meet the needs of each society. As they used technology to improve their lifestyle, they were able
to trade with each other for both goods, services and knowledge. This transference of knowledge
between each other is what led to a huge ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order for the LDCs to start to compete with the EDCs it would require a good amount of money
in order to implement some of the technology and advances that would help them to be more

their own land and develop it with their own people. An additional disadvantage they have when
compared to the EDCs is their lack of education and communication skills. When comparing they
two sides, the South and LDCs have just as many different native languages (if not more) than the
North does. The issue being they cannot communicate with a common language and some of their
languages are arguably more difficult, especially with all the different dialects within their own

was the Nintendo 64. I recall being speechless and in state of shock because I finally had my own

video games. My memories of playing the games with my friends, being excited about a new video
game console, and the pure anticipation of buying the new and hottest video games still stick
with me today. I was glued to my Nintendo 64 and could not stop playing Super Mario 64 and
NFL Blitz. I was like Wade in Ready Player One, I did not care what was happening around me,
all I wanted to do was play my Nintendo 64. Like Wade said in Ready Player One, Going outside

Anyways after the Nintendo 64 phase grew old, it was all about the Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube,

Financial Position of Tesco PLC
Introduction The relevance of evaluating both the financial performance as well as position of
Tesco PLC cannot be overstated. This is more so the case given the need to determine the stability
and viability of the company going forward. This text seeks to evaluate the financial performance as
well as position of Tesco PLC by amongst other things analyzing the entity s financial statements. In
this case, the evaluation will be based on the company s recently published annual accounts.
Tesco PLC: Company Background Yahoo! Finance (2012) describes Tesco PLC as a company
that operates stores that primarily offer food products, as well as general merchandise, clothing
products, and electrical products. In addition to that, Tesco PLC is also involved in the provision
of insurance, financial as well as banking (retail) services (Yahoo! Finance, 2012). Taking into
consideration the number of branches it has in various parts of the world, Tesco PLC can be
regarded one of the largest retailers around the globe. Having been established sometimes in the
year 1919 by Jack Cohen, the company has surely come a long way (Tesco, 2012). The phenomenal
growth of Tesco PLC over time can largely be attributed to both the unwavering vision of the
founder and the selection of a competent team of managers to run the company s operations during
its growth phase. Currently, the company top management team comprises of its CEO Andrew
Clarke, its Chief Financial Officer Laurie Mcllwee and Tim

Inclusive Education in South Africa
The Zulu tribe of South Africa is the largest ethnic group in the country and its language is the most
frequently used of all in South Africa. (Hamlett) The tribe was first discovered when Portugal
settled the land, and since then the tribe and its relationships with the colonists is anything but
peaceful, and to this day there still is tension. Maybe because of this, the education system
throughout the 1900 s refused to allow for the teaching of African culture other than stereotypes and
other inaccurate information that the colonists approved. The Zulu tribe s lack of education and the
use of non native languages in school paired with its relationship toward further discrimination later
in life is an indication that not teaching indigenous culture leads to real world discrimination. South
Africawas segregated until 1994 and therefore is not the epitome of racial tolerance, but it is the
treatment of education of their indigenous tribe the Zulu that shows that education controlled by
one culture will lead to further segregation and worse conditions for the races out of the loop. Now,
the last four presidents of South Africa were black and the current one is Zulu but even with
influence in the highest office the tribe is unable to find work or make a life that is comparable to
their white counterparts. The discrimination of education has led to longer consequences than the
segregation and disenfranchisement because now there are generations of natives unable to compete

  • 2. Political Parties And The Democratic Party Essay Introduction: Originally political parties were seen as skeptical by our Founding Fathers and therefore opposed. However, today our government has political parties. Political parties attempt to gain control of the government and influence its decisions. The two most influential parties in American government are the Republican and Democratic Party. These two parties have very contrasting beliefs which they present in their platforms. Democrats believe in the need for intervention by government in the form of more and bigger programs and agree that there must be fairness in government regulations and freedom of expression. Republicans however, have more conservative values and cultivate the importance of family and the efforts made by individuals. They, unlike the Democratic Party, prefer to keep the power out of the hands of the government. Political parties business and actions affect every American. Especially when the political party is governing and practicing its beliefs. The structure of marriage, education, taxes, and defense spending are all topics that influence the daily lives of American individuals. That is why is it is important to know where each political party stands. Marriage and Family: Republicans describe marriage as the union of one man and one woman and their regulations revolve around these ideals. They state that children s emotional and physical health is stronger when they are raised in a household with two parents. To Republicans, natural ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Role of Food in Construction of Social Identity Essay Food is a highly unique commodity, for though it is essential to every single person on earth, there is no other commodity which is acquired and consumed in such diverse ways. It is a multifaceted social instrument, serving to connect people across cultural boundaries while simultaneously drawing lines through society, dividing people across raceand class. Though we have discussed the connections between certain alternative foodmovements and the creation of a white identity, I contend that the social mechanisms of food extend beyond the production of whiteness , and are intricately bound up in the creation and perpetuation of other racial and class identities in Western society. As the ways in which we consume and engage with food... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By compartmentalizing food into such racial categories, the white consumer draws boundaries between themselves and others . Alternative movements, such as eating organic, also become performative of an elite sensibility (Guthman 2003, 52), as food is used as a symbol of certain social and environmental values, while the consumption of this food bolsters a sense of heightened moral superiority. Product manufacturers have been particularly astute in rebranding even the most unhealthy of foods, such as sugar, by re enchanting foods, projecting holistic notions such as the family farm across their plastic packaging. These supermarket narratives play into consumer desires for healthy foods by emphasizing freshness and sustainability (Reisch 2003), ideas which complement the white ideology of food. In consuming these healthier foods, the white middle class consumer often separates themselves from fast food eaters, who are viewed as mindless fools (Guthman 2003, 55). Through this, it can be seen that the white consumer often assumes that the choice of what to eat is similar for all, and is ignorant that levels and practices of food consumption have been shaped by social ranking and ... • 4. Aaron Is An Nfl Star Aaron Hernandez was an NFL star. He was a college player the University of Florida, Hernandez was an All American player and a member of the BCS National Championship Team. He was drafted into the New England Patriots in 2010, where he became the youngest active player on any roster in the NFL (Aaron Hernandez Essay). He was only one of two tight end players on one of the leading teams in the National Football League. During his 2010 season, he was named Rookie of the Week by Pepsi; he played in his second season the Super Bowl in the NFL; and by his third year playing with the Patriots he received the highest signing bonus of an NFL tight end in history. Other than all of that Hernandez had a dark side to him that had a severe impact ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Hernandez not only imitated his father s sports star status playing for the Patriots, but also became involved with criminals and took on the role of his father s gang type lifestyle and began using drugs. His lifestyle choices almost prevented him from gaining his success as an athlete in the NFL. Despite his obvious talents, NFL teams were wary of drafting Hernandez due to his admitted flunking of a drug test. Privately, many teams also worried about his association with gang types from his home neighborhood. He fell to the fourth round in the 2010 NFL draft before the New England Patriots selected him with the 113th overall pick (Bio, 2015). Once he was drafted, Hernandez quickly proved his professionalism as a football player. He had 45 catches in his first year, which was a Patriots team record for the tight ends, helping the team secure the AFC Championship. In his second year, playing alongside with Rob Gronkowski, he led the Patriots offense with 24 touchdowns and 2,237 receiving yards, helping secure the team s position in the Super Bowl XLVI. Then in his third year he was injured, but was still positioned to become a leader of the team, which was recognized by the Patriots with his sizable signing bonus (A E, 2015). Although Hernandez would not be indicted for murderuntil 2013, his legal problems began in early 2007, while still attending the University of Florida. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Jane Austen s Novel And True Classic Sense And Sensibility There are many authors whose works are considered to be classics; perhaps the most influential is Jane Austen. Jane Austen wrote six novels, that in today s world, we call classics. Her first novel and true classic Sense and Sensibility, was published in 1811 at a time when the world was just starting to write full length novels. Though Jane Austenonly lived to be forty one, she contributed much too modern literature; such as being one of the first major authors to make use of the three volume novel, and to use chapters within the volumes (Sweeton). One of the many reasons as to why Jane Austen s novels are considered classics is due to the fact that she wrote about real social and financial issues of the day; however, financial and social issues are timeless, therefore they are still relevant in today s world. As one follows along with the Dashwood sisters in Sense and Sensibility, we see how the title of the story is very fitting; by providing one sister with sense and the other with sensibility, the story has two different dynamics that create a timeless classic. Born in 1775, Jane Austen grew up in a time when the dynamics of the world were constantly changing. Jane Austen was born in Steventon a village of Hampshire England, to a large family that consisted of seven other children (Jane Austen). Having an interest in writing since a young age, one of her first works of writing was a novella titled Lady Susan, a story written in epistle form (which means as a ... One of my favorite picture was the one with a beer box on top of my head with a bag of Doritos by myside. I started out my life with the culture of a Korean, but being adopted from my white parents and living in American has changed my culturedramatically. Since the age of one, I have experienced and lived the American culture. I adapted to the things that would seem different from the Korean culture. It doesn t matter if you are younger or older, different gender, class, etc. There is always common ground when communicating with others. In my personal experiences, I have found it difficult at times to figure out and understand the way their culture can directly affect my culture. Going back to when I was in high school, I had a lot of friends that had different cultural backgrounds. I felt privileged growing up in a nice neighborhood compared to some of my friends that didn t have that opportunity. Growing up my parents always wanted me to get good grades so that I could get into a good school and be successful. One of the biggest privileges I have noticed was that I haven t had to pay for college. My parents saved since I was a child to have enough money for me to go to college. • 7. Reincarnation Is A Philosophical Idea Introduction: The purpose of this report is to make the audience aware about the strange yet intriguing superstition that is reincarnation. What Reincarnation Is Believed To Be: Reincarnation is a philosophical religious concept where the aftermath of a drastic, liberating biological death results in the soul being reborn into another body. The self explanatory Latin definition expressing the words entering the flesh again. Indians are one of the strong main believers of reincarnation whilst Christians are strictly against the believing of this practice. Recorded cases of reincarnation are between the ages of two and five years old and sometimes a questioning seven years at the oldest. Many people are impervious to the idea of a soul because of how completely encased it is around around religious and dogma credulity. Some scientists quite confidently adhere that being able to consciously detach from the body and rehabilitating towards a new body does indeed happen. Scientists figure that it is a result from dramatic death experiences. Scientific Proof Of Existence: There is in fact hard evidence of soul existence and reincarnation. This is quite a large fact to a claim to, but reincarnation is indisputable and cannot be attributed to many explanations apart from chance being the most logical. But like lots of other situations we do not necessarily need hard copy proof to believe in something. For example, if the news was to tell us that there is a 65% chance that it will ... • 8. The Future of Human Factors in Aviation The Future of Human Factors in Aviation The International Ergonomics Association (2000) defines human factors: The scientific discipline concerned with the understanding of interactions among humans and other elements of a system, and the profession that applies theory, principles, data, and other methods to design in order to optimize human well being and overall system performance. The science of human factors in aviation has a come along way since the days of the Wright brothers in 1913 but it did not actually start with them. According to Dr. Bill Johnson, Chief Scientist at the Federal Aviation Administration, human factors dates back to the 1600s when Leonardo da Vinci drew the Vitruvian Man, with all the anthropometric measures, [when] he was trying to decide if a human was strong enough to propel an aircraft (FAA, 2012). Long after the work of da Vinci, human factors has brought advancements to aircraft design while creating a greater understanding of the human role in mishaps. Brief History of Human Factors Long after Leonardo da Vinci, human factors research originated with aviation (Salas et al., 2010). Once the pioneers of aviation began taking to the air, the quest for safety and efficiency began with an ever increasing fervor. Aviation accidents have long been viewed as spectacular and with the spectacle of an accident comes the public outcry over safety. While not all human factors research deals with accidents, the majority of money put into the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Coetzee is using an exploiting and self centered perpetrator to portray the situation of the post apartheid South Africa. Through the eyes of David Lurie, a fifty two year old English professor, the changing of the former social hierarchy is depicted. Lurie is twice divorced and solves the problem with sex rather scandalously. He is using his position as a teacher to seduce one of his more vulnerable students, Melanie Isaacs. When facing a committee of inquiry Lurie is willing to admit his guilt, but refusing to yield to repent. After losing his dignity and respect Lurie resigns from his post and seeks refuge at his daughter s smallholding. In addition to this Petrus suggests himself marrying Lucy because of the dangers a woman is exposed to living alone on the countryside. This Lurie strongly disagrees to, but most likely Lucy will give in to the offer due to her love to the farm. Coetzee depicts the white rule of apartheid through the characteristics of David Lurie. Lurie himself never comes to the insight that his actions are wrong. When trying to seduce Melanie the first time Lurie tells her: Because a womanВґs beauty does not belong to her along. It is part of the bounty she brings to the world. She has a duty to share it (Coetzee 16). Not only does this medieval view on women state that he is old fashioned. The building is a rectangle shape, inside and out, the inside is split into sections, two sections for seating, a section for the drive thru window, and a section for the drinks and BBQ sauces. When I visited Maurice s, half of the seating was blocked off, I am guessing it is only used for larger parties, and the other half is full of families and couples, sweet tea filling all of their styrofoam cups. The drive thru window is busy with people in cars being handed food and drinks, and waitresses running around bringing customers their food. All the floors I can see are a white tile, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The key for a restaurant to run smoothly and efficiently, especially when there is only one register, like Maurice s, is to have a well designed menu to explain the sandwiches and combinations enough so the customer will not spend a lot of time asking the cashier questions. The main menu on display in Maurice s Piggie Park BBQ does just that. Another important aspect the menu has is the prices, which were a little higher than I had expected, some items were priced at almost twenty dollars. When I visited Maurice s, I ordered a serving of banana pudding and five hush puppies and the order ended up costing just over seven dollars, which is a whole meal and a milkshake at Cookout. I imagine the owner s have to have it at this price, since everything is homemade and real southern cooking. The prices also keep the noisy, crazy college students away, making the restaurant more of a family establishment, attracting families and older people, the type of people who do not mind to spend a little more for better quality food. Maurice s menu not only serves the obvious functions of showing customers what is served and at what cost, but it also brings people together. The menu represents the food people come in to order, so they can sit down and eat together. This heart of the restaurant shows the love that is shown here when families choose to eat at Maurice s together, instead of eating by themselves or eating in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. Analysis Of Survival In Auschwitz By Primo Levi In a world with billions of people there are bound to be countless opinions of how society should be run. Some believe that every person should be treated with respect and equality, while others see a distinct division between those who deserve humane treatment and those who do not. In his autobiography, Survival in Auschwitz, Primo Levi reveals just how greatly this difference has influenced the lives of millions by recalling his experience in the infamous concentration camp, Auschwitz. Primo Levi is caught between colliding cultures; while part of his book is dedicated to criticizing the SS officers for their cruelty, a greater focus is placed on the tactics that he adopted in order to survive in the camp, both mentally and physically. While this may seem counterintuitive and that Levi could have benefitted from holding on to hope, he explains that, in the face of driving necessity and physical disabilities many social habits and instincts are reduced to silence (Levi 187). To put faith in the unlikely chance of being rescued and reunited with family would prove to be wasteful because that energy could have been better used to accumulate necessary survival tactics. However, his most distinct survival tactic was his reliance upon others. He particularly found life within Lorenzo, a man who, was outside this world of negation , and whose humanity was pure and uncontaminated (Levi 122). Most other prisoners looked out solely for themselves and neglected social interaction, which therefore caused loneliness to build on top of the rest of their suffering. By allowing himself to confide in Lorenzo, [He] managed not to forget that [he himself] was a man (Levi 122). • 15. Summary Of Giambologna s The Rape Of The Sabine Women The era of Mannerism is renown for its increasingly complex works of art, much like the High Renaissance before it, and the discipline of sculpture is no exception. Out of this period comes more intricate poses, forms, and emphasis on the illusion of movement which is perhaps most evident in Giambologna s The Rape of the Sabine Women. His sculpturedepicts a young man attempting to carry a struggling young woman as he stands over the contorted body of an older man, either the woman s husband or father. What is interesting about this work is not only the realistic human forms and perceived chaos of the moment, but also the lack of a dominant side from which this sculpture would be viewed. In order to achieve these features, Giabologna utilizes a combination of various textures and diagonallines to create the complete illusion of muscle, flesh, energy, and multiple focus points. Before analyzing Giambologna s use of diagonal lines to create various focal points and energy in the work; first, the most compelling aspect of the sculpture must be examined which is his utilization of implied textures. For instance, there is an implied texture of thickness and body to each character s hair which is achieved through fine grooves to show individual locks as well as deep grooves to create shadows and thus the idea of the hair s volume. In comparison, a similar concept is seen in the beards of the two men where the deep grooves and shadow give the appearance of a thick beard in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Turn Of The Screw Interpretation Essay In the equivocal Victorian novella The Turn of the Screw, author Henry James details events surrounding a tyrannical, oppressive governess as she assumes the care of two seemingly angelic children and subsequently delves deeply into insanity. Purposefully ambiguous, this story is left open to numerous interpretations ranging from viewing it as a frightening ghoststory to a tale of manipulative, inherently evil children. In the psychoanalytic perspective, which follows teachings from prominent figureheads such as Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, analysis of the text reveals that the apparitions were merely hallucinations, viewable only by the protagonist. They re smart, but they re not his own. This instance is one of doubling, as he is obviously being depicted to be a symbol of the Uncle who is at the epicenter of the Governess thoughts. It is clear that Mrs. Jessel is somewhat of an alter ego with the governess, definitely exhibiting her fears through her presence. The doubling isn t merely symbolic, either, as there are numerous cases where the Governess is seen in the place of the spirits. For example, when the protagonist views Quint peering out the window, she duplicates his behavior and manages to terrify Mrs. Grose in the process. When Mrs. Jessel is viewed crying at the bottom of the staircase, the Governess later finds herself in the same exact position and jumps up, repulsed by the memory of the specter. The fact that both women were on a lower step on the stairwell could also be representative of the psychological fear that the Governess holds of her possibly having a lowered social status or class based on her actions. Abstract Despite most organic chemistry laboratories utilizing coconut oil for a saponification reaction in laboratories, little has been done to utilize an alternative, more superior, oil for the reaction. An extremely common allergy to have is to be allergic to nuts, and more specifically coconuts. When laboratory experiments are conducted using coconut oil it endangers the lives of students and laboratory personal. Coconut oil is also more expensive than other oils that could potentially be used in the chemical process. After researching alternatives, it has been determined that vegetable oil would be the most viable alternative to coconut oil due to its low cost as well as its fairly high reaction rate. If college and high school laboratories would switch to a vegetable based oil instead of the more standard coconut oil, then students and staff with allergies would be safer, the cost for the overall laboratory experiment would be lower, as well as a consistently high reaction rate. I.INTRODUCTION The saponification reaction is one of the most basic foundational blocks for any chemistry major. The reaction is typically around one hour and consists of the mixings of a fatty oil such as coconut oil, vegetable oil, bio waste oils (used cooking oil), or other oils and a base such as sodium hydroxide. Norman Wright Week One Reflection As things in this world seem to go by faster and faster each year; we seldom take the time to remember why we fell in love with our significant other in the first place. While reading One Love Under God , by H. Norman Wright, it made me think back to the beginning of my relationship with my husband. Being a divorced mom of a beautiful daughter I wanted someone that could loveme the way I desired to be loved and cared for. I had never expected to get a divorce from my first husband, but one to many times of adultery was enough in my books. We had tried and tried to make things work, but he could not change his ways. I am committed to make this marriagework not only for our children, but for each other. Wright says, Marriage keeping involves preserving, caring for, and honoring marriage. This is a commitment to do whatever it takes, not just for our own marriage, but for others, too (Wright, 2005, p. 15). I desire to be a keeper of marriage, not only mine, but to also help others who are struggling to find that love they once had. I feel that more people should help support others in any way they can, including relationships. Marriage is tough and having a good support system to keep you focused, is important. I can relate to Wright when he states, One common problem is that so many of us are concerned first with our own personal happiness and self fulfillment in marriage and then with the happiness of our spouses (p. 21). By applying Kant s theory, a doctor performing this duty is doing so morally. A patient ridden with dementia, cannot make medical decisions. The doctor has performed this procedure because of medical obligation. The doctor will perform the procedure because of the condition of the patient. It is found in the Australian states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. This nocturnal animal lives mostly in eucalyptus forests where its main food source is the leaves of the tree. Without disturbance, the koala can live up to 15 years. While it may have no natural predators in the wild, it does have exposed skin on its face, hands, and feet which can make it vulnerable to fires and further threaten the population. Although other factors like fires harm koalas, humans have the most impact on the koala. The koala may not be... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is what Mr Turnbull said in a video posted to Facebook on April 18 this year marking the beginning to a series of changes to the 457 visa. The Temporary Work (skilled) (subclass 457) visa is a visa that lets a skilled worker travel to Australia to work in their nominated occupation for their approved sponsor for up to four years (Australian Government Department of Immigration and Border Protection), most importantly this can only happen providing that the sponsor could not find an Australian citizen to do the work (The Australian, April 18, 2017). In spite of the argument one could make that it was unethical to keep the skull since it has to belong to one of the Native American tribes, until a specific tribe was discovered as Kennewick Mans ancestors, I feel as if it was perfectly liable to keep the skull for scientific use. • 41. The Impact Of Native Schools On M Ж’Г„ Ori Society Essay Discuss the impact of the introduction of native schools on MДЃori society. The establishment of Native Schools around New Zealand in 1867 had many pulverizing effects which exceeded the few benefits associated with having Native Schools. Native Schools were fundamentally village day schools set up in rustic areas providing MДЃori children with European education under the Native Schools Act 1867. Native Schools were managed to be a medium for the State to gain social control over the MДЃori population and to assimilate MДЃori into civilised law abiding citizens . This essay will investigate how the State promoted/pushed cultural homogeneity through the education system at Native Schools as an approach to attain their ideal outlook of Europeanising and gaining full control over the MДЃori population and their resources. MДЃori and PДЃkehДЃ had very different aspirations for the establishment of Native Schools from the very start (Bishop 1996:76). While MДЃori wanted to further enhance their knowledge to battle the threat forced by the vicinity of PДЃkehДЃ the main focus of the State was merely to control MДЃori society through assimilation (Simon 1998:106). The fact that MДЃori had to provide land for which the school was to be built on, and to additionally pay for half the portion of the development expenses of the school and one quarter of the teacher s wages demonstrates that the setting up of native schools resulted in a financial burden to the MДЃori society (Duncan 2014). ... My memories of playing the games with my friends, being excited about a new video game console, and the pure anticipation of buying the new and hottest video games still stick with me today. I was glued to my Nintendo 64 and could not stop playing Super Mario 64 and NFL Blitz. I was like Wade in Ready Player One, I did not care what was happening around me, all I wanted to do was play my Nintendo 64. Like Wade said in Ready Player One, Going outside is highly overrated (Cline, P.267) I found this funny because as a kid this is exactly how I felt. Anyways after the Nintendo 64 phase grew old, it was all about the Xbox, Nintendo Gamecube, Playstation and Play Station Portable. Sadly my parents never bought me the Gameboy but they made up for it by buying me three of those four systems. My house had turned into a video arcade, my friends always couldn t wait to come over. What can I say my house was the place to be as a kid. As usual this phase grew old and then it was all about the Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I was in the 9th grade had been working about 8 hours week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Hamlett) The tribe was first discovered when Portugal settled the land, and since then the tribe and its relationships with the colonists is anything but peaceful, and to this day there still is tension. Maybe because of this, the education system throughout the 1900 s refused to allow for the teaching of African culture other than stereotypes and other inaccurate information that the colonists approved. The Zulu tribe s lack of education and the use of non native languages in school paired with its relationship toward further discrimination later in life is an indication that not teaching indigenous culture leads to real world discrimination. South Africawas segregated until 1994 and therefore is not the epitome of racial tolerance, but it is the treatment of education of their indigenous tribe the Zulu that shows that education controlled by one culture will lead to further segregation and worse conditions for the races out of the loop. Now, the last four presidents of South Africa were black and the current one is Zulu but even with influence in the highest office the tribe is unable to find work or make a life that is comparable to their white counterparts. The discrimination of education has led to longer consequences than the segregation and disenfranchisement because now there are generations of natives unable to compete ...
