Data Acquisition And Recording Of Big Data
2.1 Data Acquisition and Recording Big Data is not just simply come from itself it is been
recorded and generated by some data generating source. For instance, if we have our ability to
feel and realize the arena around us, from our own heart rate and getting the data of toxins that
are present in the air we leave this will produce more than one million terabytes of unparalleled
data for every day. Furthermore, scientific experiments will also produce petabytes of data today.
Whatever the data that is produced is not useful, it could be mostly useful or completely waste
of data storage it can be filtered a compressed by other methods. . One task is to define these
filters in this sort of way that they do not discard beneficial facts. as an example, suppose one
sensor gives the different readings than the others it is most likely to be sensor failure however,
how are we able to be sure that it isn t always an artifact that merits interest? The data which is
given by the sensors are mostly partial and temporally correlated. To solve this problem, we need
further research in science of data reduction that how this raw data is intelligently processed that the
users can handle easily without any problems. The second challenge is to generate the right
metadata automatically to describe what data must be recorded and how the data is measured.
Metadata acquisition structures can minimize the human burden in recording metadata. Every other
crucial problem right here is facts

* There are numerous non graphical applications that make use of event driven programs, an
example of this is a smoke alarm: when it sense smoke and the density of smoke reaches a
certain level, the alarm goes off. An event has taken place there; a smoke alarm is non graphical
application but it s very useful for event driven programming. Text Microsoft DOS: An ms Dos
operating system makes use of no graphical interface; it doesn t make use of wimp when it s

instructions such as saving files, opening new documents other than using a mouse to do these
actions. A keyboard is used to enter these commands and key down events occur when this
happens. Non graphical applications compared to graphical applications ten to be out of date

Various Factors For Online Shopping
Abstract
The current research is based on online shopping and various reasons for shopping cart
abandonment. It is an attempt to study various factors causing cart abandonment during online
shopping. Various factors have been identified and study how and why these factors influence cart
abandonment. Total seven potential factors are identified viz. information search, delivery,
payment, product, personal information, technicality and freebies as probable reasons. The
research summarized all these factors with factor load and explanation to justify the findings. The
result of the research presents valuable inputs for online sellers to study and resolve these factors in
order to increase online participation of buyers and reduce cart abandonment. ... Show more content

The purchase and sale transaction is completely accomplished through the internet (E commerce),
and the biggest advantage of being online is there is no requirement of intermediary and this results
reduction in cost.
In recent times online shopping has become very popular among the internet users. Still the target
area of online marketing is middle class, higher middle class and upper class segment but the
approach of online marketing is growing day by day. The basic reason behind this targeted area
must be there should be a computer or a smart phone, a bank account and a debit or credit card,
computer literacy etc.
The way of shopping is changed with the advancement of the technology. According to a study if
any e commerce company focuses on the demographic characteristics of the shopper, it is
concluded that the higher the level of income, occupation and education of the head of the family
then the perception towards online shopping is more favourable. If consumer is inclined towards
technology, then his attitude towards online or non store shopping is increased. Online shopping
has widened the segmentation and target audience. Earlier the young educated men were the main
users of online shopping but this perception is changing with time. For example, in United States
of America the women user internet was very few but till 2001 the population of women were

Tectonic Plates
The Earth is a very detailed planet; there are many actions going on at once on this planet. The
Earth has many boundaries, plates. and layers. The plates beneath our feet mold the world we live
in. While very slowly, the plates are indeed moving. There are a few variations to the plates; they
have different directions in which they move in relation to separate plates. These changes in plate
movement have different side effects, from ocean trenches to miles of mountain ranges. In 1912, a
german climatologist, Alfred Wegener proposed that the continents were once joined and made one
land mass. He named this super continent Pangaea. He had a lot of evidence to prove that they
were once together, but he was missing one key section of information,... Show more content on

Each plate is moving a certain direction due to the convection from the Asthenosphere. The meeting
of two plates is called a boundary, there are three types of boundaries in the world: Convergent
Boundaries, Divergent Boundaries. And Transform Boundaries. In the case of Convergent
Boundaries, two plates are pushing against each other, which can create Deep Ocean Trenches,
Huge Mountains, and/or Volcanic Mountain chains. An example of this happening is the Mariana
Trench, During Convergence, the denser crust, oceanic crust, is subducted below the less dense
crust. If the crusts have the same density then the plates are pushed upwards. At Divergent
Boundaries, the plates are moving away from each other, this can create Mid Ocean Ridges and
Rift Valleys. An example of this happening is the Mid Atlantic Ridge. At the final boundary,
Transform Boundaries, the plates slide the past one another in the opposite direction, causing
shallow earthquakes and offset features. An example of this Boundary is The San Andreas Fault.
While the crust moves, there are places called Hot spots in which a hot portion of the mantle rises
up beneath the crust for millions of years. An example of this is the Hawaii Island

The Themes Of Friendship And War In A Separate Peace
The themes in stories are very crucial when it comes to understanding the truth behind a book or
story. In A Separate Peace the two themes that stand out the most are friendship and war, but not
the kind of war you would think. Not one shot was fired, nor was anyone killed but rather the war
on their hearts and minds. I chose these two themes because they go hand in hand in a way. Most
people have that one friend that they loveto death, but they can sometimes become jealous or
annoyed of that friend and want to punch them in the face. This represents friendshipand war at the
same time. Throughout this essay I will provide examples of Finny and Gene s friendship as well
as the inner war they shared with one another. In A Separate Peace, Gene... Show more content on

The friendship between Gene and Phineas is probably the most important theme throughout the
novel. The boys friendship at the beginning of the story is strong, but as the story goes on and
Gene s jealousy towards Finny grows their friendship becomes weaker and weaker. They have
always loved friendly competition, but when Finny starts to gain popularity and beat records,
their competitiveness becomes not so friendly. Gene feels that their friendship is not equal and
that Finny is better than him which causes complications. Once Finny breaks his leg he is no
longer able to play sports, so he teaches Gene how to play in order to live through him in a way.
After Finny breaks his leg he tells Gene, Listen, pal, if I can t play sports, you re going to play
them for me, and I lost part of myself to him then, and a soaring sense of freedom revealed that
this must have been my purpose from the first: to become a part of Phineas (Knowles 43).
Because Gene is jealous and wants to be more like Finny he goes along with it in hopes of
gaining popularity and being an equal with Finny. Through this the boys become codependent of
one another because Gene is trying to be like Finny, and Finny wants Gene to be like him since he
can t participate in what he loves

Good And Evil In Thomas Malory s Le Morte D Arthur
In the excerpts from Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, King Arthur is a complex character with
both good and poor traits. Arthur maintains his symbolic representation of good throughout the tale,
but Malory crafts Arthur s character in such a way that his weaknesses, or bad traits, shed a rather
mortal light upon his character. These weaknesses, combined with the greatness of Arthur, are
eventually what gives way to the downfall of Arthur. His bad traits reflect much of what we see
in ourselves. Though Arthur is a noble, great, and powerful character, it does not mean that he
may not be a flawed character as well. Arthur, throughout the tales, often falls victim to his own
mortal whims. He is often shortsighted and reckless in his decision making. An example of this
is in Malory s Arthur and Pellinore story from Le Morte d Arthur, Tell me, said Merlin, Do you
prefer the sword or the scabbard? The sword, said Arthur. You are a fool, said Merlin. The scabbard
is worth ten of the sword, because while you wear it, regardless of how seriously you are wounded,
you will lose no blood (2). Through this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
His courage and skill is exemplified by this quote from Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, If King Arthur
s army were the smaller, their courage was the higher, confident they were of the righteousness of
their cause. Without sting they battled through the burning ships, the screaming wounded, and the
corpses floating on the bloodstained waters. Once ashore, they put Sir Mordred s entire army to
flight (232). The fact that these men s strength and spirit are powered by the belief in King Arthur
as their true king, even though they are outnumbered and more vulnerable, is a great indication of
Arthur s inspiring strength. Arthur is a true, just, and courageous leader. Not only is Arthur
inspiring, but he is also

The Suspense And Surprise In And Then There Were None
The suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None
Suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Every well written murder mystery does not
have fixed features because the writers of detective story always want to give their readers a
unique feeling, but suspense and surprise are essential and indispensable. (Alewyn 184) In Agatha
Christie s And Then There Were None, she fully combines suspense and surprise through the
omniscient point of view and poignant plot. Therefore, And Then There Were None is a well
written murder mystery. The omniscient point of view means a method of storytelling in which
the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story. (Abrams 233)
Plot is the series of events that form the story of a novel, play, and film (Abrams 294). I will
show the suspense and surprise through the analysis of narrative, rising action, climax, and falling
action as well as use specific textual evidence from this fiction novel to prove it. In And Then
There Were None, The writer uses the omniscient point of view to describe characters. In other
words, she uses God s perspective to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Stereotypes Of Cheapskate, Impulsive Buyer
We see many people when shopping. In public, we are able to see what they are wearing, how they
act, their attitude, and their personality. These people can range from many different stereotypes
such as: the Cheapskate, the Impulsive Buyer, and the Hater. Even though these people have
different attitudes toward shopping, they all have the same goal: which is to to shop. Coupons,
sales, rewards, and memberships are the holy grail to a shopping Cheapskate. They are the
people we see at the checkout with a book of coupons and dollar signs in their eyes. Cheapskates
are individuals who never buy anything full price and will stop at nothing to save a buck. These
singular identities use coupons all the time and only shop on sales racks. For example, on the tv
show Extreme Couponers, these citizens have it all figured out about being cheap at the store. The...

would want to have nothing to do with the art of shopping. Shopping, to them, is a complete and
utter waste of time. These people usually complain a lot before, during, and even after the
shopping trip. They would rather do anything else besides shopping and will do anything to
avoid it. For example, The Hater might ask a friend or family member to pick up something they
need or will try to find a substitute from what they already have to try to get the task done. In

Analysis Of Angels Displaying The Crown Of Thorns
There are several miniatures in particular that are meant to evoke piety, for Anne, as well as that
which she hoped her son would display, in time. Angels Displaying the Crown of Thorns (Fol.
30r) depicts two angels reverently holding a golden crown of thorns, referencing that worn by
Christ. In Angels Displaying the Eucharist in a Monstrance (Fol. 11v), four angels carefully hold a
monstrance, a device by which the Host of communion could be displayed for worship and
respectful contemplation. These angels are in a similar setting and arrangement to those holding
the crown of thorns, and both images share the same main purpose, as well: to have two extra
sections of this prayer book inadvertently dedicated towards recalling the Passionof Christ. There
are also some other possible implied purposes, though. The inclusion of the crown of thorns in
one folio serves as a reminder of the fact that Anne had privileged access to Sainte Chapelle,
which she undoubtedly took advantage of, built by Louis IX following his obtainment of the
Crown of Thorns, as a place in which to house it, along with other such articles. Her piety is thus
re emphasised through yet another display of devotion for her son to follow. In a similar manner,
the monstrance, an object of great importance to the devout, would serve the same purpose. Yet,
there is also the sense that Anne is showcasing the opulent objects at her disposal, for the crown of
thorns was certainly not a replaceable, nor common,

Media In Pop Culture
The world today is full of information, that ranges from the smallest chip of a phone or the
monstrous screen of a football stadium. It can take the form of anything to grasp people s attention.
Dating back to the 1920s, the word media has been introduced due to the golden age of American
society. Introducing radios and bulky TV s, people in the United States started to turn their head to
these technologies. Eventually, people worldwide are influenced by how much these technologies
can shape their life. However, companies, schools, brands and other forms of businesses began to
advertise themselves among the media. Therefore, marketing the use of mass mediainto today s pop

The Quest For Non Romantic Adoration
Devdas rise above limits to grasp their affection in a profound way. They repudiate their material
belonging and embellishments in the quest for non romantic adoration. This is all that much like
some female holy people in Hinduism, who said that common relational unions speak to both the
bait and the servitude of the world, while their association with God (once in a while discussed as
a profound marriage) speaks to a renunciation of the world and customary parts (Kinsley, 1981).
Paro‟s move from youth to adulthood is spoken to through the picture of a lotus blossoming. In
Hindu otherworldly examination the lotus has a unique spot. It is viewed as unadulterated and
lovely, as well as an image of goodwill, peace, flourishing and bliss (Bhalla, 2009). In its maturing
stage, the lotus symbolizes her inactive adoration that has not achieved full acknowledgment. With
the blossoming of a lotus, which is viewed as blessed in Hindu conviction, Paro‟s profound
adoration achieves a completely created stage. Amid their initially meeting as grown ups, Paro
lights a „diya‟ or a light, something that Hindus do while performing petitions to God. In
Hindu family units a customary oil light is lit day by day before the sacrificial stone of the Lord
(Chary, 2009). Promptly after that, Devdas is appeared from his feet upwards, hoisting his status
from minor mortal to profound significant other. Vasudevan (2010) applies the idea of darshan to
this scene, where the lighting of the

started by the Shulton Company in 1937 and it s original target audience was women, but later
changed it to men s goods as the sales were larger there. The company continues to sell men s
products to this day. The company started advertising to sailors and hard working men at the start
of it s creation. However the company has continued to change its marketing techniques throughout

Some ads also use similes, metaphors, personification, and onomatopoeia. The new ads show how
men should use Old Spice by making crazy commercials while showing strong famous men. They
also try to get women to buy Old Spice for their man by showing a hot man using the product and
what their man could be like if he used Old Spice. Both these techniques like showing men doing
crazy things like some men do and target the emotion in ladies to try and get their men more like
the guy in the commercial have shown to increase sales. The most famous old Spice ad was the,
The Man Your Man Could Smell Like and this ad showcased the stunning Isaiah Mustafa or
commonly known as the Old Spice Man. In the commercial he is shown on a boat with
diamonds or on a horse on an island. The actor states that if her man wore Old Spice he would be
just like him, which was a form of logos. The pathos used against men is that men do crazy things
and wearing Old Spice is for men who do crazy things. The pathos against women is that women
want a civilized hot romantic man and the ads show that if they buy Old Spice for their man, he
will be just that. The ethos was the company using hot and famous models to portray what their
products does.
The Old Spice company has used different rhetorical approaches throughout the years to influence
people to buy their products. In the 1950 s they stated it made you feel better, 1970 s said it made

Cholera In Haiti
Haiti is currently facing several major challenges, and as a third world country has been adversely
affected by them. An earthquake and a recent hurricane, as well as government corruption and
poverty, have further contributed to Haiti s situation. There is a lack of medical resources and
treatment, so disease spreads quickly and impacts all areas of the country. Haiti s choleraepidemic is
one of the most devastating crises it is currently battling. To begin with, although cholera broke out
only a few years ago, its impact has been widespread and debilitating. Cholera first broke out in
Haiti a few months after the catastrophic earthquake in 2010 when United Nationstroops from Nepal

Yet, potential solutions to cholera that are being tested are not successful in eliminating the
disease. Medecins Sans Frontieres, or Doctors Without Borders, treated half of the cholera
victims when the sickness first hit in 2010. Another solution is to immediately treat those with
symptoms, because if symptoms are caught early on, and fluid and electrolyte amounts are
rebalanced, then the disease reverses. This is done by using an oral rehydration formula made
of a grain base and electrolytes. A patient takes sips of this until he becomes hydrated again.
Also, cholera is a bacterial disease, so antibiotics can aid in recovery ( Cholera ). Moreover, The
Water Project is providing financial support to restore wells so Haitians can have access to clean
water (Sentlinger). One proposed solution is to educate Haitians about the importance of sanitation
and hygiene as various relief organizations help repair damaged buildings and facilities destroyed
by the recent hurricane. Haiti began a vaccination campaign recently to attempt to vaccinate half of
the country s population. However, it is difficult to track where the doses of the vaccine go, and to
further complicate the situation, there is currently a worldwide shortage of the cholera vaccine.

The Berlin Wall Essay example
For thirty years, an iron curtain lay across Germany. This iron curtain was called the Berlin Wall,
and it represented the divide between East and West Germany. It also represented the loss of East
Germany s freedom and democracy. The Berlin Wall separated families and friends. This resulted in
children growing up without a father and wives losing all communication with their husbands. The
Berlin Wallpoorly affected many people and businesses, and caused an ugly dent in Germany s
history.
After World War Two ended, Germany was in a horrible state. America would fly in all kinds of

In response to this, the side of Germany under control of the Soviet Union became the German
Republic of Germany, also known as West Germany. This was one of the first steps that would
divide Germany for almost 30 years.
The German Communist Party began restricting East German s ability to travel to the West in
1949 (Levy 13). Germany s Eastern government installed barbed wire and minefields fields along
the border of East and West Germany. However, Eastern Germans still found a way to escape to
the western side of Germany. The most popular way of escape was known as the five cent subway
ride to freedom. There was a subway system in Berlin that linked it s Eastern and Western sides
together. For five cents, eastern Germans would take the train from East Germany to West Germany.
Then that person would slip through the border or take a plane or bus out. According to Debbie
Levy, during the first six months of 1961, 160,000 Germans had escaped from the East to the
West. From 1949 to 1961, more than three million Germans had escaped from the East to the

The application of Internet technologies has been a growing trend in the business world for nearly
a decade. More and more companies are realizing the benefits of using the web. Web use has
morphed from information exchange only to enhancements for collaboration, customer service and
customization. These applications now lead to increasing profits; cutting costs, minimizing
production, and customer satisfaction in all areas of the manufacturing process. Companies such as

this growing trend. This was accomplished by focusing on several key aspects in each of their

Now with the introduction of e commerce, it has increased the development of material handling
systems. Newly designed planning, automated staging systems and manufacturing software has
made the ordering process itself easier by being sent directly to the plant where they are produced.
BMW calls this process ВЎВ§customer oriented sales and productionВЎВЁ. Their newly
developed software system provides real time information of the entire manufacturing process.
Ж’Вґ This means now that customers can make option changes six days before final production

they have termed it. This system makes a delayed option change requested by the customer if

Being able to manage the flow of information from the ordering process to the manufacturing
process has also been a huge success of the system. The ability to keep track of resources
necessary for the production of a car and the wants and needs of the customer is a problem for most
companies involved in product manufacturing. BMW has also allowed its resource suppliers into
the production loop. They changed their information systems both internally and to their suppliers.

Cover Art Symbolism In The Great Gatsby
As one of the most recognizable book covers in the history of American literature: two sad
female eyes and bright red lips adrift in the deep blue of a night sky, hovering ominously above a
carnival scene. Full of sorrow and excess, this image has become so connected to The Great
Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, that many of the elements within the cover such as the eyes and the
figure within them reflect the haunting messages found in the novel. Arguably, the most
prominent image in the cover art is the eyes. The eyes on the cover art symbolize that everything
these characters do are always being watched. The eyes could be representing God and how he is
looking down on the world of The Great Gatsby. For example, the city is seen below the eyes
which show that it is being looked upon. Eyes are a symbol that is used throughout the book. They
exist in the billboard of Doctor T.J Eckleberg, another symbol of how judgement is being passed
on towards the characters. Also, within the eyes a nude woman is seen. The irises of the eyes with
nude women lounging in them represent Jay Gatsbys views on his hopeful future with Daisy
Buchanan. They also represent the wealthy, since this book strips away their outer shell and shows
their true nature.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

floating. Nothing is defined and this represents Daisy because she does not know where she
stands as a person and she always conforms to society. She is not confident in herself as a wife
and mother. Another point of view as to why she has no face or body is because Gatsby had
dreamed about her so much that his perfect idea of her was no longer real anymore. Also in the
face, under the left eye is a tear. The green tear represents the green light and the hopeful spirits of

Cultural Strengths And Cultural Challenges Of IKEA
Introduction IKEA has learn[ed] from its failures and buil[t] on its successes, [providing]
affordable, well designed, functional furniture to the masses (Hill Jones, 2012, p. C96). Incessant
learning, adapting, and modifying is necessary in the highly competitive retail market in which the
company rests. In order to continue helping [its customers] achieve a better everyday life (Hill
Jones, 2012, p. C96), the company has to take a toll of its external opportunities and threats, as well
as its internal strengths and weaknesses. Culture Cultural challenges will continue to prove ruinous
when contemplating IKEA s overall business plan, especially when resurrecting markets of global
standards. As was seen after the acquisition of a portion of the American market, these cultural
variances require the company to adjust and standardize their products with that of the norms of the
area. In order to penetrate new global markets, the company has to take the time to research and
determine which standards and regulations are unwaveringly apparent in the particular country or
segment. From this, the company can then take the time to properly develop products (before any
initial implementation takes place) that are suited to the needs and wants of the target market in
the area. To master such a skill, IKEA must forfeit a greater amount of funds towards research and
development, as well as take a toll of their presence in each global segment semi annually.

The Effect Of Qualification And Income Levels On The...
Abstract
Topics: Variations in electoral voting patterns and educational attainment/skills.
In this essay, I will be investigating the effects of qualification and income levels on the political
status of 6 different Birmingham wards. My research statement is, To what extent does the
relationship between levels of qualification and income, influence the political status of different
Birmingham wards? I shall compare and contrast several different sources of data, as well as
referring to my questionnaire results in my data analysis.
My hypothesis was that wards which had a high level of social class and the majority of their
population had level 4 qualifications and above, as well as a high level of household income; were

Moreover, with the aid of questionnaires I was able to understand a variety of reasons as for why
people did and did not vote for specific wards, and whether it was the local or national policies
which were having a greater influence on the public s political stance.
Word Count: 298 Introduction
Aim:
With a population in excess of 1,000,000 people and over 40 different wards and constituencies,
Birmingham is generally regarded as the second city of the United Kingdom. Within Birmingham,
each ward must vote for their individual party counsellor who may be representing the Labour,
Conservative or Liberal Democrats party . The aim of my investigation is to find out whether the
different levels of qualification and household income throughout Birmingham has any effect on the
party counsellor chosen for that specific ward. I will be investigating; what factors have an effect
on levels of qualification and income and how these levels of income and qualification influence
the overall political status of a Birmingham ward.
Research Question:
To what extent does the relationship between levels of qualification and income, influence the
political status of different Birmingham wards?
Hypothesis:
I hypothesise that affluent wards and constituencies such as; Moseley Kings Heath, Sutton Four
Oaks and Edgbaston whose population are of a high social class (grade C1 and above) and an
average of 47% of their population

Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings
Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now
considered to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the
research in practice, there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest
quality healthcare and ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the
practice in healthcare systems is not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United
States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in
practice is that is provides better outcomes in patients and provides a higher quality of care.
Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs are reduced and there is a reduction in
differences in delivery of care according to geographic area (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011).
Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a practice that involves making
clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from disciplined research, while
research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else unrelated to the original
research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a distinct difference. In
research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word applications.
Evidence based practice (EBP) is broader than research utilization and incorporates research
findings with other factors (Polit Beck, 2012). Many factors work to either facilitate

RESEARCH QUESTION, MODEL AND HYPOTHESES
Performance Measurement Systems (PMS) enable organizations to plan, measure and control their
performance, so that decisions, resources and activities can be better aligned with business
strategies to achieve desired results and create shareholder value. This study addresses the following
research question: What factors, internal or external to the organization, explain the outcomes of
Performance Management Systems? In order to answer this question, we used the model shown in
Figure 1 to examine the factors contributing to three types of PMS outcomes: usefulness,
effectiveness and quality of information.
Figure 1. Factors contributing to PMS outcomes
Usefulness is defined in the literature as the degree to which a person believes that using a
particular system would enhance performance [11]. Usefulness is related to the concept of
voluntary IS use [2,3]. The actual usage of information systems is widely considered an important
measure of IT success in organizations, and has been found to have a strong correlation with the
perceived usefulness of a system by the user [8].
Effectiveness of a PMS is the degree to which the system delivers its intended results [9], i.e,
helping organizations to plan, measure and control their performance, as described above.

Eye Of The Tiger Research Paper
Eye of The Tiger
When I was age four, my mom and I read the Encyclopedia of Animals together. Turning through
one by one, she pointed to the pictures of the animals like adelie penguin and African Bush
elephant, the adelie penguin I always remembered mostly because it s name was brought down to
a few coherent syllables as I was too young to say adelie correctly. The book eventually became
my favorite thing to become transfixed with when it came time to read. I refused other books if I
did not see the distinct tiger on the cover. Later on my mom noticed my added interest in stuffed
animals and the neighbors dogs and cats. Today, I have concluded that my literacy of animals
blossomed from the Encyclopedia of Animals. Skipping ahead to age seven, I got my first book
filled with dog breeds. One, Affenpinscher. Two, Afghan Hound. Three, Airedale Terrier. So on and
so forth. I went on memorizing the book and testing my memory every time my mom would walk

The Power of Personality in Toni Cade Bambara s The Lesson
Developing character is something that comes with time. I believe that there are three major things
that effect how people develop their character where they are from, which includes their financial
status; how they are raised; and the character of the people that have had the most influence on their
lives. Sylvia, in Toni Cade Bambara s The Lesson, is very much influenced by all of these factors.
Sylvia s living in the slums and being poor makes her defensive and judgmental. Her parents not
being around much leaves her without the attention and discipline that children need to develop to
their fullest. Lastly, her friends and Miss Moore also have a great influence on how ... Show more

Because Sylvia does not recognize her own faults, it would be expected that someone else might
see them and correct her appropriately. The problem though, is that Sylvia s parents are always
in a la de da apartment up the block having a good ole time, probably partying. Sylvia s parents,
mentioned infrequently throughout the story, do not seem to have too much involvement with
their daughter. This is represented in Sylvia s behavior, for example, when she wants to steal
Ms. Moore s cab money and run to the bar b que. Although most of Sylvia s actions are
conceivably wrong, it would be inappropriate to blame her solely for her mistakes. It is
impossible for any child to understand what is right or wrong if it was never defined for him/her.
Sylvia was probably not disciplines growing up and so her judgment of what is right or wrong is
based on her own opinions and her observations of what the other children in her neighborhood are
doing.
The children in the neighborhood are probably the most influential people in Sylvia s life, since
she is around them most frequently, and they are her peers. They too seem to come from the same
kind of background as Sylvia poor, defensive,

By the author giving a descriptive description of these two characters personalities and looks, Edith
creates a foundation of the jealousy and resentment. Grace Ansley is portrayed as a quiet and
middle aged woman, but turns out to be a cunning and deceitful person towards the end. She has
a daughter named Barbara, who is the complete opposite of her mother. Barbara Ansley is
described as an open minded, adventurous, and an individual with a lively spirit. The other
daughter that is presented is Jenny Slade. She is the daughter of the second main character, Alida
Slade. Jenny is a more quiet type and staying in the shadow kind of person. The other main
character, Alida Slade is very genuine and charming, however, when one gets further into the story
Mrs. Slade starts exposing her other personality of becoming a person full of envy and jealousy.

location or their surroundings the narrator places more emphasis on the conflict that has been

Ultrasound Technician, No Two Days
However for an ultrasound technician, no two days are exactly the same. Each shift brings with it
a new docket of patients with different ailments. The ultrasound technician job description may
call for a tech to be on their feet for a majority of the day; working in darkened rooms while
performing their scan. Every appointment is different from the last and these sessions can last
anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour. When finished, the reports are then sent to a radiologist for
review and diagnosis. Like many healthcare jobs, working so closely with a physician or surgeon
under stressful circumstances can become a little overwhelming. This is why proper training comes

ability to spot irregularities with the imagery. Ultrasound technicians, also known as diagnostic
medical sonographers, operate machines called sonographic scanners that create images of
patients internal organs. Sonographers can work in physicians offices, clinics or hospitals, and
night and weekend shifts may be required. They may specialize in certain areas, such as breast,
obstetric or vascular sonography. An associate s or bachelor s degree is usually required, and
individuals who already hold a degree in another area of healthcare often can complete sonography
training through a one year certificate program. Sonographers spend much of their day moving

Albert Bandura s Observational Learning Theory
Observational Learning Theory By studying Frank Sinatra through the lenses of the Observational
Learning Theory much can be understood. Albert Bandura s Theory states that individuals learn by
observing. His experiment included a Bobo doll an adult actor and a child observer. Bandura
picked an object, a Bobo doll, that the children had never been exposed to and their fore did not
know how to react to it. He then had the children observe the adults hitting and kicking the doll.
Then when the children were placed alone in a room with the doll they began to emulate what they
watched the adults do. Consequently, showing that the children learned how to interact solely by
observing others interactions. This theory explains numerous behaviors and encounters that Frank
Sinatrahad. He often resembled the actions of his mother and father. Frank s Mother Natalia or
Dolly was resourceful, she utilized her understanding of English and Italian language to make
herself an invaluable translator for immigrants during court proceedings (Kaplan, 2016, Sachs,
1995, Sinatra, 1985). This involvement with the courts allowed her to gain the respect of many
local politicians and eventually lead to her becoming a Democratic leader in her community. Dolly
was also entrepreneurial, she was the first immigrant woman to hold any position in her local
democratic office. Clearly this took immense determination that she demonstrated multiple times

Desiree s Baby Literary Analysis
Identifying the elements of a literary text is very important in applying literary criticism. These
elements can help us analyze and understand a text better. For example one was able to apply
historical criticism in the short story Desiree s Baby . The elements that have helped apply
historical criticism in this short story are the setting, racial background of characters, and the role
they represent. One of the components in the story that implies the application of historical
criticism is the setting. The setting of Desiree s Baby took place in Louisiana before the civil war.
This was the time period where slavery took place and being African American was shameful. In
this story the characters actions and thoughts are influenced by the time period in which the story
occurred. Although Kate Chopin does not directly state that the story is set before the Civil war,
several details from the story support this setting, including the plantations, slaves, slave owners, and
French vernacular. The strong male influence of Armand and the dependence Desiree had on her
husband also gave away that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Inaccurate Western Civilization In The 16th Century
In the 16th to mid 20th century, Western powers and knowledge have dominated other countries,
due to the Western superiority to the other cultures in terms of civilization. According to Said,
having knowledge is to dominate it; having authority is to deny autonomy to the Oriental country.
Evidently, the inaccurate Western cultural perception towards Eastern world has resulted in the
practice of power over, what they presumed, the weaker countries. Java was once an influential

implied admiration. Alexander, son of Philip, the king of the Macedonians, was more than most

Alexander had remarkable ability, and so was great in many different ways. On top of doing
great things, Alexander was a great leader, and a political and military genius. His goal to
conquer Persia was one that he would let nothing stand in the way of. As leader of his troops, he
suffered their same wounds, being one of the last great leaders to personally take the risk of
death in battle. Alexander listened to every man he had, and so became very close to his men.
Some argue his ability in motivating and inspiring his men was in fact the greatest ever seen,
half defeating the opposition in nerves before a battle began. He was also remarkable with
military tactics, employing strategies still used today. As the Encarta Encyclopedia put it:
Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, noted for his brilliance as a tactician and
troop leader and for the rapidity with which he could traverse great expanses... He succeeded
politically as well, earning respect from many people. Alexander s charisma and adoption of
Persian customs gave him strong loyalty needed in order to control his massive empire. However,
the greatness in his work here is questionable: often he used brutal force, sometimes killing
thousands of civilians, or selling them into slavery. But overall, Alexander must be seen as great
man in terms of a leader and a military commander. There is one major area of Alexander where
heated debates often occur: his character and

Stanley George Miller Analysis
The visual cues, color, form depth, and movement are all displayed within the graphical painting
by Stanley George Miller. When looking at the painting you see the different color schemes. You
have the black and white with the blues and greys and also the red, yellow content. When
describing the objective colorwithin the painting, these colors can also project a mood on the
observer. The dark colors such as the women in the red dress with a black background portray
darkness also the women with the draping cloth covering her head and facial demeanor showing a
sense of the deep thought. As you move to the center of the painting you see the contrast of lightand
dark and the bright colors around the dark image. As you move to the right of the painting the
blues and greys lighten your mood of the objects being displayed. Also, you see the ocean waves
and the blue sky with two people embracing one another.

The painting displays diagonal, gestural, and directional lines; repetition; and placement of objects
to give it an illusion of motion (Lamp,n.d., para 12). If you take a look at the women and man
embracing one another is a gestural movement of an action among the two objects. The cloud and
the funnel coming from the women hair is a diagonal line of movement. The waves hitting and
crashing into the land and then going back out to the sea gives you directional and repetition of
these objects.
This painting intrigues me because I was trying to see what the artist was trying to convey to the
viewer. This style of art is part of the new the age of information and the Art Noveau and pop art
of the later part of the 20th century (Mousestudios, n.d). The images of the people on the canvas
display a sense of wonder. The couple is looking off to the future and the women on the left side of
the canvas, with darkness around them, uncertainty and mystery of the

Washington Mutual Mortgage Scandal
1.Form my understanding the Washington Mutual Mortgage scandal, the banks were leading
out more money to people that could not afford the loan was an everyday occurrence. In this
case it really shows that a lot of the time doing the wrong thing can be a lot easier than doing the
right thing. When you really don t have to look at credit scores, and it is a lot easier to give
someone something they want when really they can afford. Darley points out when this is a daily
happing and the boss tell you to do it, people tend to conform. After enough people conform this
becomes a social norm of the workenvironment.
2.I think the biggest problem that both places had is so many people trun a blind eye to the
backroom dealings, because they are

  • 2. Data Acquisition And Recording Of Big Data 2.1 Data Acquisition and Recording Big Data is not just simply come from itself it is been recorded and generated by some data generating source. For instance, if we have our ability to feel and realize the arena around us, from our own heart rate and getting the data of toxins that are present in the air we leave this will produce more than one million terabytes of unparalleled data for every day. Furthermore, scientific experiments will also produce petabytes of data today. Whatever the data that is produced is not useful, it could be mostly useful or completely waste of data storage it can be filtered a compressed by other methods. . One task is to define these filters in this sort of way that they do not discard beneficial facts. as an example, suppose one sensor gives the different readings than the others it is most likely to be sensor failure however, how are we able to be sure that it isn t always an artifact that merits interest? The data which is given by the sensors are mostly partial and temporally correlated. To solve this problem, we need further research in science of data reduction that how this raw data is intelligently processed that the users can handle easily without any problems. The second challenge is to generate the right metadata automatically to describe what data must be recorded and how the data is measured. Metadata acquisition structures can minimize the human burden in recording metadata. Every other crucial problem right here is facts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The plates beneath our feet mold the world we live in. While very slowly, the plates are indeed moving. There are a few variations to the plates; they have different directions in which they move in relation to separate plates. These changes in plate movement have different side effects, from ocean trenches to miles of mountain ranges. In 1912, a german climatologist, Alfred Wegener proposed that the continents were once joined and made one land mass. He named this super continent Pangaea. He had a lot of evidence to prove that they were once together, but he was missing one key section of information,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Each plate is moving a certain direction due to the convection from the Asthenosphere. The meeting of two plates is called a boundary, there are three types of boundaries in the world: Convergent Boundaries, Divergent Boundaries. And Transform Boundaries. In the case of Convergent Boundaries, two plates are pushing against each other, which can create Deep Ocean Trenches, Huge Mountains, and/or Volcanic Mountain chains. An example of this happening is the Mariana Trench, During Convergence, the denser crust, oceanic crust, is subducted below the less dense crust. If the crusts have the same density then the plates are pushed upwards. At Divergent Boundaries, the plates are moving away from each other, this can create Mid Ocean Ridges and Rift Valleys. An example of this happening is the Mid Atlantic Ridge. At the final boundary, Transform Boundaries, the plates slide the past one another in the opposite direction, causing shallow earthquakes and offset features. An example of this Boundary is The San Andreas Fault. While the crust moves, there are places called Hot spots in which a hot portion of the mantle rises up beneath the crust for millions of years. • 9. The Themes Of Friendship And War In A Separate Peace The themes in stories are very crucial when it comes to understanding the truth behind a book or story. In A Separate Peace the two themes that stand out the most are friendship and war, but not the kind of war you would think. Not one shot was fired, nor was anyone killed but rather the war on their hearts and minds. I chose these two themes because they go hand in hand in a way. Most people have that one friend that they loveto death, but they can sometimes become jealous or annoyed of that friend and want to punch them in the face. This represents friendshipand war at the same time. Throughout this essay I will provide examples of Finny and Gene s friendship as well as the inner war they shared with one another. The boys friendship at the beginning of the story is strong, but as the story goes on and Gene s jealousy towards Finny grows their friendship becomes weaker and weaker. They have always loved friendly competition, but when Finny starts to gain popularity and beat records, their competitiveness becomes not so friendly. Gene feels that their friendship is not equal and that Finny is better than him which causes complications. Once Finny breaks his leg he is no longer able to play sports, so he teaches Gene how to play in order to live through him in a way. After Finny breaks his leg he tells Gene, Listen, pal, if I can t play sports, you re going to play them for me, and I lost part of myself to him then, and a soaring sense of freedom revealed that this must have been my purpose from the first: to become a part of Phineas (Knowles 43). Because Gene is jealous and wants to be more like Finny he goes along with it in hopes of gaining popularity and being an equal with Finny. • 10. Good And Evil In Thomas Malory s Le Morte D Arthur In the excerpts from Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur, King Arthur is a complex character with both good and poor traits. Arthur maintains his symbolic representation of good throughout the tale, but Malory crafts Arthur s character in such a way that his weaknesses, or bad traits, shed a rather mortal light upon his character. These weaknesses, combined with the greatness of Arthur, are eventually what gives way to the downfall of Arthur. His bad traits reflect much of what we see in ourselves. Though Arthur is a noble, great, and powerful character, it does not mean that he may not be a flawed character as well. Arthur, throughout the tales, often falls victim to his own mortal whims. He is often shortsighted and reckless in his decision making. An example of this is in Malory s Arthur and Pellinore story from Le Morte d Arthur, Tell me, said Merlin, Do you prefer the sword or the scabbard? The sword, said Arthur. You are a fool, said Merlin. The scabbard is worth ten of the sword, because while you wear it, regardless of how seriously you are wounded, you will lose no blood (2). Through this... Without sting they battled through the burning ships, the screaming wounded, and the corpses floating on the bloodstained waters. Once ashore, they put Sir Mordred s entire army to flight (232). The fact that these men s strength and spirit are powered by the belief in King Arthur as their true king, even though they are outnumbered and more vulnerable, is a great indication of Arthur s inspiring strength. The Suspense And Surprise In And Then There Were None The suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Suspense and surprise in And Then There Were None Every well written murder mystery does not have fixed features because the writers of detective story always want to give their readers a unique feeling, but suspense and surprise are essential and indispensable. (Alewyn 184) In Agatha Christie s And Then There Were None, she fully combines suspense and surprise through the omniscient point of view and poignant plot. Therefore, And Then There Were None is a well written murder mystery. The omniscient point of view means a method of storytelling in which the narrator knows the thoughts and feelings of all of the characters in the story. (Abrams 233) Plot is the series of events that form the story of a novel, play, and film (Abrams 294). I will show the suspense and surprise through the analysis of narrative, rising action, climax, and falling action as well as use specific textual evidence from this fiction novel to prove it. • 13. Analysis Of Angels Displaying The Crown Of Thorns There are several miniatures in particular that are meant to evoke piety, for Anne, as well as that which she hoped her son would display, in time. Angels Displaying the Crown of Thorns (Fol. 30r) depicts two angels reverently holding a golden crown of thorns, referencing that worn by Christ. In Angels Displaying the Eucharist in a Monstrance (Fol. 11v), four angels carefully hold a monstrance, a device by which the Host of communion could be displayed for worship and respectful contemplation. These angels are in a similar setting and arrangement to those holding the crown of thorns, and both images share the same main purpose, as well: to have two extra sections of this prayer book inadvertently dedicated towards recalling the Passionof Christ. There are also some other possible implied purposes, though. The inclusion of the crown of thorns in one folio serves as a reminder of the fact that Anne had privileged access to Sainte Chapelle, which she undoubtedly took advantage of, built by Louis IX following his obtainment of the Crown of Thorns, as a place in which to house it, along with other such articles. Her piety is thus re emphasised through yet another display of devotion for her son to follow. In a similar manner, the monstrance, an object of great importance to the devout, would serve the same purpose. Yet, there is also the sense that Anne is showcasing the opulent objects at her disposal, for the crown of thorns was certainly not a replaceable, nor common, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 15. The Quest For Non Romantic Adoration Devdas rise above limits to grasp their affection in a profound way. They repudiate their material belonging and embellishments in the quest for non romantic adoration. This is all that much like some female holy people in Hinduism, who said that common relational unions speak to both the bait and the servitude of the world, while their association with God (once in a while discussed as a profound marriage) speaks to a renunciation of the world and customary parts (Kinsley, 1981). Paro‟s move from youth to adulthood is spoken to through the picture of a lotus blossoming. In Hindu otherworldly examination the lotus has a unique spot. It is viewed as unadulterated and lovely, as well as an image of goodwill, peace, flourishing and bliss (Bhalla, 2009). In its maturing stage, the lotus symbolizes her inactive adoration that has not achieved full acknowledgment. With the blossoming of a lotus, which is viewed as blessed in Hindu conviction, Paro‟s profound adoration achieves a completely created stage. Amid their initially meeting as grown ups, Paro lights a „diya‟ or a light, something that Hindus do while performing petitions to God. In Hindu family units a customary oil light is lit day by day before the sacrificial stone of the Lord (Chary, 2009). Promptly after that, Devdas is appeared from his feet upwards, hoisting his status from minor mortal to profound significant other. Medecins Sans Frontieres, or Doctors Without Borders, treated half of the cholera victims when the sickness first hit in 2010. Another solution is to immediately treat those with symptoms, because if symptoms are caught early on, and fluid and electrolyte amounts are rebalanced, then the disease reverses. This is done by using an oral rehydration formula made of a grain base and electrolytes. A patient takes sips of this until he becomes hydrated again. Also, cholera is a bacterial disease, so antibiotics can aid in recovery ( Cholera ). This was one of the first steps that would divide Germany for almost 30 years. The German Communist Party began restricting East German s ability to travel to the West in 1949 (Levy 13). Germany s Eastern government installed barbed wire and minefields fields along the border of East and West Germany. However, Eastern Germans still found a way to escape to the western side of Germany. The most popular way of escape was known as the five cent subway ride to freedom. There was a subway system in Berlin that linked it s Eastern and Western sides together. For five cents, eastern Germans would take the train from East Germany to West Germany. Cover Art Symbolism In The Great Gatsby As one of the most recognizable book covers in the history of American literature: two sad female eyes and bright red lips adrift in the deep blue of a night sky, hovering ominously above a carnival scene. Full of sorrow and excess, this image has become so connected to The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, that many of the elements within the cover such as the eyes and the figure within them reflect the haunting messages found in the novel. Arguably, the most prominent image in the cover art is the eyes. The eyes on the cover art symbolize that everything these characters do are always being watched. The eyes could be representing God and how he is looking down on the world of The Great Gatsby. For example, the city is seen below the eyes which show that it is being looked upon. Eyes are a symbol that is used throughout the book. They exist in the billboard of Doctor T.J Eckleberg, another symbol of how judgement is being passed on towards the characters. • 24. Evidence Based Outcomes And Utilizing Findings Evidence Based Outcomes and Utilizing Findings Evidenced based practice (EBP) is now considered to be best practice but, although great strides have been made in applying the research in practice, there is still progress to be made. EBP is central to delivering the highest quality healthcare and ensuring the best outcomes for patients. However, EBP guiding the practice in healthcare systems is not the norm in many healthcare systems across the United States (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). The most overwhelming evidence for using EBP in practice is that is provides better outcomes in patients and provides a higher quality of care. Therefore, patients are more satisfied, healthcare costs are reduced and there is a reduction in differences in delivery of care according to geographic area (Melnyk Fineout Overholt, 2011). Evidence based practice is defined by Polit and Beck (2012) as a practice that involves making clinical decisions on the best available evidence which is usually from disciplined research, while research utilization is using an aspect of a study for something else unrelated to the original research. The two terms are sometimes used synonymously but there is a distinct difference. In research utilization the emphasis is on translating the information into real word applications. Evidence based practice (EBP) is broader than research utilization and incorporates research findings with other factors (Polit Beck, 2012). Many factors work to either facilitate ... In order to answer this question, we used the model shown in Figure 1 to examine the factors contributing to three types of PMS outcomes: usefulness, effectiveness and quality of information. Figure 1. Factors contributing to PMS outcomes Usefulness is defined in the literature as the degree to which a person believes that using a particular system would enhance performance [11]. The actual usage of information systems is widely considered an important measure of IT success in organizations, and has been found to have a strong correlation with the perceived usefulness of a system by the user [8]. Albert Bandura s Theory states that individuals learn by observing. His experiment included a Bobo doll an adult actor and a child observer. Bandura picked an object, a Bobo doll, that the children had never been exposed to and their fore did not know how to react to it. He then had the children observe the adults hitting and kicking the doll. Then when the children were placed alone in a room with the doll they began to emulate what they watched the adults do. Consequently, showing that the children learned how to interact solely by observing others interactions. This theory explains numerous behaviors and encounters that Frank Sinatrahad. He often resembled the actions of his mother and father. Frank s Mother Natalia or Dolly was resourceful, she utilized her understanding of English and Italian language to make herself an invaluable translator for immigrants during court proceedings (Kaplan, 2016, Sachs, 1995, Sinatra, 1985). This involvement with the courts allowed her to gain the respect of many local politicians and eventually lead to her becoming a Democratic leader in her community. • 40. Desiree s Baby Literary Analysis Identifying the elements of a literary text is very important in applying literary criticism. These elements can help us analyze and understand a text better. For example one was able to apply historical criticism in the short story Desiree s Baby . The elements that have helped apply historical criticism in this short story are the setting, racial background of characters, and the role they represent. One of the components in the story that implies the application of historical criticism is the setting. The setting of Desiree s Baby took place in Louisiana before the civil war. This was the time period where slavery took place and being African American was shameful. In this story the characters actions and thoughts are influenced by the time period in which the story occurred. Although Kate Chopin does not directly state that the story is set before the Civil war, several details from the story support this setting, including the plantations, slaves, slave owners, and French vernacular. The strong male influence of Armand and the dependence Desiree had on her husband also gave away that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Inaccurate Western Civilization In The 16th Century In the 16th to mid 20th century, Western powers and knowledge have dominated other countries, due to the Western superiority to the other cultures in terms of civilization. According to Said, having knowledge is to dominate it; having authority is to deny autonomy to the Oriental country. Evidently, the inaccurate Western cultural perception towards Eastern world has resulted in the practice of power over, what they presumed, the weaker countries. Great has many meanings, and will be defined as: important; grand; distinguished; remarkable in ability or character; competent; or above what is normal, with implied admiration. Alexander had remarkable ability, and so was great in many different ways. On top of doing great things, Alexander was a great leader, and a political and military genius. His goal to conquer Persia was one that he would let nothing stand in the way of. As leader of his troops, he suffered their same wounds, being one of the last great leaders to personally take the risk of death in battle. Alexander listened to every man he had, and so became very close to his men. Some argue his ability in motivating and inspiring his men was in fact the greatest ever seen, half defeating the opposition in nerves before a battle began. He was also remarkable with military tactics, employing strategies still used today. As the Encarta Encyclopedia put it: Alexander was one of the greatest generals of all time, noted for his brilliance as a tactician and troop leader and for the rapidity with which he could traverse great expanses... He succeeded politically as well, earning respect from many people. Alexander s charisma and adoption of Persian customs gave him strong loyalty needed in order to control his massive empire. However, the greatness in his work here is questionable: often he used brutal force, sometimes killing thousands of civilians, or selling them into slavery. But overall, Alexander must be seen as great man in terms of a leader and a military commander. There is one major area of Alexander where heated debates often occur: his character and ... The cloud and the funnel coming from the women hair is a diagonal line of movement.
