Health And Illness Of Healthcare
Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration of a
balance between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury, childbirth and
surgery. The main health care professionals that are required are doctors nurses, midwives and
paramedical personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to health care brings a number of
benefits to the patient and many systems and processes are in place to achieve a high standard of
patient outcomes. Positive relationship between patients and the healthcare providers promotes
patient centered care and enhances outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996).
Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven programming,
leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing better healthcare.
Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death. Humans are
very well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating smoothly and without
problems. However when a person s internal balance changes with one system not functioning well
then a flow on of problems to other systems may occur with it including physically,
psychologically and socially. Over time other disciplines began to emerge especially as
technologies expanded and it was recognized that people often needed health services other than
physical care in order to maintain wellness.

Babette s Feast
Dinesen s short story Babette s Feast which is included in her book Anecdotes of Destiny and
Ehrengard is an amazing read. The story is about two sisters, Martine and Philippa, who are
raised in a very religious family. The father of the two young ladies is the leader of a religious
sect and he raised his daughters to be charitable within their community. The beautiful young ladies
were taught not to live life for themselves but for others. To them luxurious fare was sinful,
(Dinesen 32). This quote exemplifies that the two young ladies were raised to deny all temptations
on Earth and that their focus in life should be placed on charity and getting to heaven. The girls are
so used to following the rules of their father, even after his death,... Show more content on

The audience is able to learn that an indulgence and temptation is apart of life. Individuals have
to be able to focus on the present and not just the future. The constituents of Berlevaag were so
concentrated on life after death rather than the current life they were living; they were not living
in reality because they had believed and been taught that reality occurs in the afterlife. However,
Babette was able to teach them otherwise through the feast. She brought the disciples of the Dean
and the sister s together in communion. With the help of General Loewenheilm s rant on his
mental and spiritual journey as well as his regrets along the journey the guests of the dinner were
able to reflect on their journeys and how they have not been living their lives to their full
potential because they have been so blinded by religion. Babette made the people of Berlevaag
realize that life needs to be enjoyed as much as possible. This short story is not only a lesson for the
constituents of Berlevaag, but it is a lesson for the readers as well. We the readers are taught to be
more like Babette, be selfless, to know our own worth, and appreciate what we have on earth while
we still have the opportunity. Therefore to answer the question posed in the title, the meaning to
life is determined by several subfactors within religion and

Level 3 Health and Social Care, Unit 5 P2
Unit 5 P2 Explain what they are, their functions and where they are found. Then go into detail
about two organs, with their functions, what tissues they are made of and where they are found
in the body. Tissues: Tissues are groups of similar cells that have specific functions. In this piece
of work I ll talk about these types of cells: Epithelial Tissues: Epithelial are the lining of internal
and external surfaces and body cavities, including tubes/channels (ducts) carrying secretions from
glands. Epithelial tissues can be made of several layers of cells (called compound epithelia), or a
single layer known as simple epithelia. The lowest layer of cells is attached to the basement
membrane for support and connection. Part of the basement... Show more content on

The matrix of a tissue can be secreted by the connective tissues within the body. The functions of
connective tissues are to transport materials around the body to give support to the weak areas
to protect and support the body. Body Organs: The body has different organs that work together
and they make up a system such as the Respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, the
musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. These are the main systems within the body
and are made up of individual organs that then work together. For instance, the respiratory
system is made of the nose, lungs, heart and this lets us breathe. Blood: Blood is a bodily fluid
that transports oxygen and nutrients to the cells within the body. Blood has plasma that lets the
different types of blood travel round the body. Plasma contains proteins that have different
functions for the blood clotting, transporting and defence organisms and osmotic organisations.
The plasma carries the red blood cell which has a elastic membrane so it can fit through the
small capillaries within the body. Red blood cells can be also known as erythrocytes they don t
have a nucleus when they are matured which gives a bigger space for oxygen, although as there
is no nuclei the red blood cells can t divide so they only live for around 120 days. Red blood cells
gain their colour from haemoglobin, oxygenated blood which is known as arterial blood which
flows through the arteries coming from the heart and

Direct Democracy Vs Representative Democracy Essay
Direct Democracy vs Representative Democracy
The term Democracy is derived from two Greek words, demos, meaning people, and kratos,
meaning rule. These two words form the word democracy which means rule by the people.
Aristotle, and other ancient Greek political philosophers, used the phrase, `the governors are to be
the governed , or as we have come to know it, `rule and be ruled in turn .
The two major types of democracy are Representative Democracy and Direct
Democracy. Clearly the arguments for and against each form of democracy are plentiful. However,
it is my belief that theoretically, Direct Democracy is the superior form of political rule. Due to
problems with in the direct democratic system, its use as a practical ... Show more content on

It is not even thinkable that all citizens will agree on what good is. Rousseau recognized this and
accepted a term of majority rule. Those who voted against a policy which is found to be the best for
the general, must have been thinking of personal gains, rather than the gains of the entire society.
The feature which distinguishes direct democracy from other forms of government is the idea of
agreement and the key to agreement is discussion. It is impossible to reach an agreement without
discussion, because it is not right to think that everybody will have the same opinion on all matters.
But, it is very possible, that through discussion an agreement could be reached by all members.
Representation, on the other hand allows a select few to make decisions in their own best interest,
which is not necessarily the best interest of the society.
However, direct democracy is not the perfect method to produce a union of the community. For a
direct democracy to work, face to face communication between all members of the community is
needed. The only way this is possible is to meet in large groups. Due to the fear of high tension,
many citizens
will not participate in these large group meeting. So in order for these fearful people to voice their
opinions they must get together in smaller, less tensions groups, where they are not as timid to say
as they wish to see happen.
A direct democracy can only work in a small group, so as a form of government for an

Essay On My Birthday
When a personВґs birthday comes around does he/she ever wonder what happened on his/her
birthday before he/she was even thought of? Do they ever wonder about the special events that
happened on that day besides their birth? I was astonished to have found out how much had
happened on October 19. I was born on October 19, 2000. My parents are Billy and Teresa
Summerlin. I was born in Mission Hospital on a Thursday morning. It was fifty eight degrees
and it was dark outside. My doctor was Dr. David Cobb, and he said that I was a miracle baby. I
weighed four pounds and thirteen ounces because I wasn t getting the nutrition that I needed
because the umbilical cord was wrapped around my stomach, and I couldn t breathe well. My
grandmother had a gall bladder attack the same day I was born and was also put in the hospital.
My family said that I looked like a naked squirrel when I was born. My first name, Alexis is a
Greek name that means defender or helper. My last name, Summerlin is a Scottish name that
means mariner, viking, or wander. On October 19, 2012 the statue ВЁBig Tex was destroyed by
fire during the State Fair of Texas. Another thing that happened on my birthday was that Henry Ford
made his first radio speech in 1932. One thing that interested me the most was in 1960, Martin
Luther King Jr. was arrested at an Atlanta sit in at ВЁThe Magnolia RoomВЁ On this day, 52
protesters, including King, were arrested for violating the legislation. They were charged with a

Factors Affecting Management Success
Factors Affecting Management Success
In a rapid and globalized world, management success is often associated with a plethora of carefully
applied strategies that accentuate both the results and the processes utilized to attain a certain goal.
Library shelves bulge with valuable management information about various factors that can affect
our work performance and decisions. However, although we wish to know answers to the question
of what factors affect successful management, most individuals have neither the time to wade
through pages and pages in the off chance of uncovering possible gems nor the capacity to
meticulously examine a particular situation to discover what impedes them to success.
Successful management stands far beyond a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Solving a problem also subsumes decision making. The first decision making lesson we should
learn is, do we really need to make a decision? There may be times when not deciding can be the
best option. This is not the same as deferring a decision, just because it s difficult or
uncomfortable. Not deciding is not a procrastinator s charter; nor is it the same as deciding to do
nothing. This can be a legitimate outcome from a proper situation analysis. However,
deliberately waiting to see if a decision needs to be made is an equally valid approach. Making
an unnecessary decision can do more harm than good. In certain situations some problems do go
away and no decision is the best decision. Patience is here a virtue, and when faced with a decision
making situation, perhaps learning to be patient is also a decision making lesson. Nonetheless, a
manager needs to be careful of oversimplifying this approach, considering that most situations will
require a decision and an action.
In most cases, a successful manager is also aware of the meaning of the word Leadership. For
example, leadership could be defined as the ability to guide, direct, influence or inspire. However,
one word explanations don t really do much to help us understand complex concepts, and leadership
can certainly be defined as that. Good leadership

Essay on Comparison of Animal Rights Texts
Comparison of Animal Rights Texts
I am going to compare two pieces of text called: It s a crying shame and Sorry, but I think dying
people are more important than dumb animals, by an Animal Rights Group and Polly Toynbee
respectively. The first article is intended to appeal to a younger audience who think that killing
animals is wrong because they are cute etc. The second extract is aimed at adults who are interested
in the welfare of human beings. The Animal Aid leaflet is persuasive as it is trying to pledge
donations to stop animal experiments. The newspaper article is informative and persuasive by
saying that killing an animal to save humans is good because would you rather die than an ... Show

I find this rather effective and it would catch my eye if I glanced at the article and draw my
attention towards reading it.
On the Animal Rights Leaflet there is a main image of a dog on the front, which I think appears
to be crying. This looks the part and the dog really does look sad. This attracts attention as if the
dog was crying for help. The use of colour is used well as the picture of the dog is a golden
brown shade, which is very attractive I would say. People will instantly want to read this leaflet
because of the expression on the dog s face. On the back of the leaflet there is picture of a mouse
with some sort of growth coming off its side, I suspect that this is a tumour of some sorts.
Personally I don t find this disturbing but a vast majority of the public will do and will never
want that to happen again so they will want to pledge money to help stop animal
experimentation. There is another picture of a monkey of some sorts and it appears to be very
sad as if it has been tortured etc. I think the choice of pictures on this leaflet is rather good and will
help put the point across to the reader.
The newspaper articles picture is very plain and boring. It is just a

Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration
From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism
that forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary
system of political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives
of its citizens; an ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an
impossible dream, yet too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are
focused on new technology, whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are
based on new social orders, but all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive
architecture. It is this, their new and bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town
planners. Although rarely realized in full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted
in part and have had significant influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and
Paris. They are a catalyst for generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or
for worse the many innovations in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce
a vision of the future that is achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the
future, whether achievable or not, and utopian thinking?
The concept of utopia, derived from Thomas Mores, in his famous text in 1516 where he refers a
place as to both somewhere good and to nowhere. The connections between utopian

Another theme that is present in both works of literature is memories. In The Eternal Sunshine of
the Spotless mind , Joel wanted to forget his memories with Clementine, but he soon realized that
he cherished those memories and did not want to lose them. As a result, he tried to hide them in
his childhood memories from the machine detecting them in his mind. Similarly in Crow Lake,
Kate tried to hide her childhood memories from Daniel as she did not want Daniel to know any
part of her past life. Interaction was also an important theme in both works. In The Eternal
Sunshine of the Spotless mind , Joel was not able to state his feelings clearly to Clementine. He
wrote thoughts in a journal that he kept. Though, Clementine supported him when he felt sad or
alone. This showed that if Joel had opened up about his feelings to Clementine, his emotions that
he wanted to express so eagerly would not have built up inside him. Similarly in Crow Lake, Kate
kept her feelings about Daniel to herself because she felt that if she got too emotionally attached to
Daniel, she would end up losing him just like she lost her

is disease that affects the muscle and the nerves and can lead to partial or full paralysis.
Symptoms of polio include fever, muscle spasms, and muscle pain. The treatment is heat pads
to reduce pain, therapy and pain killers. Franklin was paralyzed from the chest down at first than
the disease relaxed and only paralyzed him from the hips down. No one knew how polio was
contracted. It may have been because of the exhausting weeks with the Navy Administration or
from the chill he received after falling in to a cold bay while fishing. It also may have been the
combo of tiredness and the chill (Tugwell 56). Doctors were called for a diagnosis and each time
they gave a wrong diagnosis. It wasn t until two weeks after contracting the disease that a
specialist gave a correct diagnosis and it was two weeks after the specialist came that Franklin
was transported to New York for therapy (57). He was so determined to overcome his disability
that he devoted seven years of his life to grueling physical therapy (Goodwind 109). But

Music And Music Education In The 19th Century
Music Education Music education dates back to when colonies taught singing for church activities.
In the 18th century, the first singing school was made in Boston, Massachusetts for the purposes of
improving singing and music reading for the church. As time goes on the school s spread
throughout the colonies. In the 19th century, in 1832, Lowell Mason and George Webb formed the
Boston Academy of Musicwith the purposes of teaching singing and theory as well as methods of
teaching music. In 1838, the Boston School Committee approved the inclusion of music in the
curriculum and Lowell Mason became the first recognized supervisor of elementary music. Music
methodology for teachers, as a course, was first introduced in the Normal School. The concept of
classroom teachers in a school that taught music under the direction of a music supervisors was the
standard model for public school music educationduring this century. In the mid 20th century,
during WW2, only vocal lessons were taught at the time. The teachers made sure to touch base on
music appreciation and theory, which are very vital in learningmusic. As the war progressed,
schools allowed for teachers to incorporate instruments into their teaching. Now in the 21st century,
schools are able to incorporate things like: combined men and women choir, orchestra, band, jazz
band, ensembles, etc. Common folk in American society, music, as a tool of empowerment, became
even more prevalent, and reflected the ideology of many

Significance of the Food and Ritual Objects Used at the Festival of Passover
Pesach also known as Passover is observed for seven days, eight outside of Israel. Pesach celebrates
the freedom for two hundred years of Egyptian slavery.
The most important part of the festival is the Sedar meal. This meal takes place, in Jewish homes
on the first night of Pesach. This meal includes a symbolic meaning and retells the story of the
Israelites escape from Egypt. Jews eat unleavened bread during this time. This is called matzah.
Certain preparations must be made for the Sedar meal and Passover. Passover starts by cleaning the
house of all chametz (leaven). This is because they believe that God commanded ... Show more

The Shank bone is to symbolise the Paschal lamb offered as the Passover sacrifice in biblical
times. In some communities, it is common to use a chicken neck in place of the shank bone.
Vegetarian households often use beets for the shank bone on the Seder plate. The red beets
symbolize the blood of the Paschal lamb, which was used to mark the lintel and doorposts of the
houses during the first Passover (Exodus 12:22). Any house with sign of blood was safe from
the lat plague. The egg is to symbolise a new life. The egg is usually hard boiled and then
roasted and grilled. The egg also represents how a dead feature becomes a new life, so in this
case a chick. Jews believe that this is joyful as it relates to them. Jews recite the Hallel during
this time. Marror or bitter herbs are usually freshly grated horseradish or horseradish paste. This
brings tears to the eyes of the Jews, and symbolises the sadness felt by the Jews. This reminds the
Jews of slavery. Maror is used in the Seder because of the commandment (in Numbers 9:11) to eat
the paschal lamb with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. Lettuce is also eaten in Pesach. This
symbolises how first lettuce tastes nice at the beginning and bitter at the end. This shows how the
pharaoh welcomed them to Egypt, and later used them as slaves. Charoset is a mixture of apples,
nuts and spices. This symbolises all

Uses And Uses Of Photosynthesis
Introduction:
Photosynthesis is a process that plants use to create glucose by utilizing sunlight, carbon dioxide,
and water. The pigments in a plant absorb light by way of photosynthesis and each pigment can
absorb different colors but will reflect green light because it does not really absorb it. Therefore,
plants always appear to have a green color. Plants have four pigments that were tested in this
exercise called carotenoids such as carotenes/xanthophyll, also pigments chlorophyll a and
chlorophyll b. Chlorophyll a absorbs blue/violet light, chlorophyll b absorbs red/blue light, and
carotene absorbs blue green/violet colors. Oxygen is after product of photosynthesis along with
glucose which is used later in cellular respiration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One table was used to describe how photosynthesis would occur with regular white light and one
that was covered which measured the rate of cellular respiration. The other table describes the rate
of photosynthesis and gross photosynthesis of green/white light. The table for green/white light was
measured with accuracy with a volumeter tube. By analyzing the data, it can be confirmed that
green light did not perform photosynthesis as fast as white light and white light performed
photosynthesis creating oxygen more rapidly than the tube that had no light.
Discussion:
The second hypothesis on the rate of photosynthesis (green/white light) was correct because the
data in the table above states that the rate of photosynthesis (which was measured in volumeters)
was higher in the tube that was exposed to white light. The green light produced much slower rate
results for photosynthesis because the color was not really absorbed very well. Plants use all
colors of light to use photosynthesis except for green light. This means all wavelengths of light are
used to make oxygen except for the green wavelength. One source of error in this experiment was
the results for photosynthesis with light. The foil kept

Why Is Abu Ghraib Cruel
Abu Ghraib is Not Yet in the Grave According to jail time served by prisoners, it is less
punishable to abuse foreign prisoners than it is to deal drugs. The average time served by the
eleven offenders involved during the Abu Ghraib scandal was 13.1 months, compared to the
average of five years for drug dealers (CNN Library). Only five out of the eleven people directly
involved actually served time at all, with the most time served being 6 years out of an original 10
year sentence. So instead of dealing that heroin, maybe you could torture and humiliate soldiers, if
you re looking to serve less time in jail. The ghastly events at the Abu Ghraib prisonoccurred
throughout 2003, but the American public did not find out until the broadcast of 60 Minutes II in
April of 2004. The photographs released include images of dogs attacking prisoners, soldiers giving

the outside, they can be very dangerous for our bodies and our minds. Games can alter our brains
to think a certain way and cause us to become inhumane. This is because they can lead to more
serious actions, the player can get hurt, and it can distract us from more important things.
Firstly, role playing games can distract us from more important things. They can make us lose our

For example, a game might lead a kid to believe that hurting other people is okay because as
Raise Smart Kids explained, they get used to being rewarded when they hurt other players. They
believe that punching, yelling or even killing other people is okay. They show how Kids who play
video games are more likely to have violent thoughts and actions. Making yourself think a certain
way will make your brain adjust to as if you were playing the game and soon the player might not
be able to decipher fantasy from reality. Also, many studies have shown that kids who play a lot of
video games (a type of violent game) are not able to connect with others. Violent games can be
leading us to something that we would never do without them.
In conclusion, video games that are violent can be very perilous to not only kids but anyone who
plays them. They can have short and long term effects on your career and the way you think.
Violent games are bad because they can lead to serious actions, the player can get hurt, and
because they can distract us. Making the choice to play this game is not only affecting you but it
can affect the people around you and how they think of you. So next time you go to play games you

Girls Participation In High School Sports
Since the passage of Title IX in 1972, girls participation in high school sports has increased
dramatically,[11] by one estimate by more than 900%. (HORWITZ ACL). The sports
participation from females is great, but females playing sports means more knee injuries. It is the
injury rate that comes with females playing hard core sports. Females who are involved in sports
that include twisting and turning ( almost all), are more likely to be injury prone than males
playing the same sport (Lippincott). Females are more injury prone as they mature. On a female,
the knee is one of the most vulnerable part of the body for many reasons.
As females develop and go through the natural stages of life, they develop more estrogen. Estrogen

Males and females develop with different size bones and ligaments, the older they get. As males
get older the bones and ligaments get bigger. This helps them because they tend to play more of the
physical and aggressive sports, where they are strongest. After puberty in the male body, more
strength develops automatically from the hormone testosterone as well. When females are done
going through puberty, their overall size of their ACL is smaller and weaker. Research shows that,
Not only does the intercondylar notch (the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels)
tend to be smaller in women, but so is the ACL itself, leading it more prone to injury (HORWITZ
ACL). One disadvantage that females have, is the size of the ACL. According to Orthopedic
Surgeon Steve Horwitz there is another disadvantage, It is well established that female athletes
typically have poor hamstring strength,[3] which is considered one possible risk factor for ACL
ruptures.[4] If the hamstring cannot balance the power of the quadriceps (front thigh muscle), the
imbalance can cause significant stress to the ACL, leading to injury (HORWITZ ACL). An
unbalanced set of lower leg muscles has a big effect on every movement in sports and it is
important to keep that strength up at a higher level. Most female athletes have one stronger leg,
which makes it a constant fight to get the knees to a balanced strength and a risk to a knee injury
(ModernMedicineACL). When females decide to emphasize strengthening as part of their workout,
it decreases their risk of

Almost every home, school, and library in the United States, has computers and access to the

Repatriation For Refugees From The United States
The options for resettlement for refugees are to return to their home country when there s peace, if
their country remains unstable or dangerous due to persecution and unable to return they are able to
stay in a refugee settlement in another country. Unfortunately, most host countries are unable to
accept refugees permanently. The United States generally only offer to refugees if their fleeing
from persecution and war. The U.S. government maintains a long established humanitarian program
that grants a limited number of refugees who are unable to return home or stay in a host country.
Very little of the refugees who have the opportunity of resettlement, there are three internationally
accepted solutions for refugees: Voluntary repatriation Refugees return to their country of
nationality when conditions have changed that allows them to return safety. Local integration Local
settlement and integration of refugees in their country of first asylum upon receiving agreement
from the host country. Resettlement Most frequently used for refugees whose life, safety, health or
human rights are at risk in their country where they have required refuge. When refugees come to
the United State they must rebuild their lives from disturbing and heartbreaking conditions.

What Role Does Ghrelin Play In Anorexia
Ghrelin has also been known to play a significant role in anorexia. It has been found that high
levels of ghrelin are found in people with anorexia who are restricting food. In fact, it seems that
ghrelin levels and a low body mass index are negatively correlated. (Hasan, 2011) This usually
means that if the weight is restored the ghrelin levels will return to normal. However, the most
interesting about the role ghrelin plays in anorexia is how it contributes to the thinness of someone
with anorexia. A dysfunction in ghrelin levels causes low estrogen levels which can result in
muscular and skeletal problems. (Hasan, 2011) High levels of ghrelin in combination with low

Summary Of Amusing Ourselves To Death
Growing up as a child my mom made a habit of watching the morning news regardless of the
events taking place in America. Whether my mom watched the news for entertainment purposes
or just to see what was significant to her has been left unanswered. I start my paragraph to prove
a point that Neil Postman makes in his book, Amusing Ourselves to Death. In Postman s book, he
argues that the news today is for entertainment and it is irrelevant to the people who obtain it.
Postman s character, Henry David Thoreau gives an example of Postman s debate stating,
Perchance the first news that will leak into the flapping American ear will be that Princess

national and international fame as indicated by winning a number of prestigious awards and
performing at several prominent national and international events, in addition to concert tours.
Furthermore, Kellerman has released a number of recorded albums, which have been distributed

Banning Books Should Be Banned Essay
Banning books does not help anyone; banning a book in a library makes it more difficult for
other people to read the book if they can not afford to buy the book. The definition of a banned
book is a work that contains material that has been deemed inappropriate, offensive, or dangerous
by certain people or organizations. The people that usually challenge the books are parents of
children (Shumaker). An example of banned books would be the Harry Potter series. Parents
wanted to ban the books because the books contains sorcery throughout the whole book.
Furthermore, it is really easy to ban a book, all a person would have to do is challenge the book
by filling out a form of why they think the book should be banned( More ). If not enough people

Social Media And Its Effects On Society Essay
Nations around the globe rely on all types of media to address the general population about
occurring events or incidents in the country. Countries such as America and China are well known
for their excessive use of the media to cover important and none important events around the nation.
The general public is affected by the media s control in many forms, which can include media
marketing of consumerism and social media. The Truman Showalludes the society in which
compliance is forced, due to the media s overwhelming control over the general public; and
argues that there is no actual media control can be broken free from, because it is a person s
choice to seek their own path to freedom. This theme is illustrated through the symbolism of the
characters of Christof, Truman s Wife Meryl, and Truman. The claim is supported by the
articles that include, 13 ways of looking at The Truman Show by Yacowar , Mapping the culture
of control by Wise J. Macgregor, and The Staging of real life by Kilborn . The central argument
that, We accept the reality of the world with which we are presented (Wise), is supported in
Mapping the culture of control by Wise because the general public want what everyone wants due
to their need of fitting in with the so called social norm.
Christof s purpose is that of a symbolic character in which he supports the media s control over the
general public. In many parts throughout the film Christof displays himself as overpowering and

Abstract
There are number of issues facing healthcare in the United States that are not exclusive to one
area and often occur during routine tasks. Although many of these issues are addressed on a daily
basis, the need to fix them is still important. Medical errors are a continuous problem seen
nationwide in hospitals and surgical centers. More exclusively wrong site peripheral nerve blocks

There are a number of reasons why Medical errors occur and causes that can be addressed. Wrong

concern for medical staff each day.
Because to Err is human, operating room staff members should have fail safe provisions in place in
an attempt to prevent wrong site nerve block errors from happening.
There are a number of potential causes of popliteal and femoral nerve block errors that can be
broken down into process factors and system factors. System factors focus on the lack of checklists,
and the exclusion of certain surgical teams members. Whereas, process factors focus on things like,
inadequate communication with team members or one patient having multiple procedures done.

factors that contribute to medical errors.

Macbeth s State Of Mind
Throughout Shakespeare s tragedy of Macbeth, the motif of time plays a significant role as
Macbeth s state of mind progresses throughout the play. Time serves as a vital role in a tragedy, for
as time progresses, a character s inevitable and ill fated end draws closer and closer. In Shakespeare
s play, Macbethbecomes completely consumed by time as he is fixated on an illusory future and
becomes haunted by his inescapable, bloodstained past. Essentially, throughout the play, Macbeth
continually fights for his royal future, yet realizes too late that, due to the unavoidable passing of
time and mortality of life, his position as King of Scotland will be transient and momentary.

Yet, he also recognizes that if he were to disturb the natural time and progression of events in
this bank and shoal of time (I.vii.6), he would be jeopardizing his future, for he would still have
judgment here (I.vii.8). As Macbeth ponders whether or not to kill his king in order to try to
become king himself, his main hesitations arise from the fact that, if he does kill Duncan, he will
be consumed by guilt and will suffer judgment and consequences in both this world and in the
afterlife. Paralleling Hamlet s to be or not to be speech, Macbeth s uncertainty about the afterlife
and what will arise from his mortal actions cause him to desire to proceed no further in this
business (31). Thus, Macbeth s attention on the afterlife reveals his state of mind relative to time at
this point in the play as he focuses on the future while debating whether to essentially overleap time
and make himself King of Scotland, or wait and see if the witches prophecy will come true.
However, in regards to the prophecies, the witches never mention when anything will take place.
Thus, Macbeth is left with an internal struggle as he ponders whether to let nature run its course
and hopefully become king naturally, or whether to disturb the normal order of the world and
overrun the natural progression of time to ensure his crowning. Although Macbeth concludes at the
end of

Designing An Original Toy For Children Aged Eight And Under
Introduction As a part of our final project for GEEN 1400 Engineering Projects, we had to
design an original toy for children aged eight and under. Each group has to come up with a new
toy which has not yet existed. The toy requires the implementation of engineering skills in its
manufacturing and design process. Some of those competence are obtained from in class
workshops or personal experience, though students are also allowed to take workshops outside
of class, in the ITLL, or Idea Forge. Several of the skills most groups require are: laser cutting,
CAD, electronics, 3D printing, etc. Not everyone in the group possesses skills for all aspects of
the project. Students divide among themselves and each member takes over a part of the
project, however, team members still communicate with each other in completing their tasks.
Later, they piece in their parts and collaborate to figure out remaining tasks and possible
improvements to the project. The deadline for this project is the Design Expo where students
present their project to judges visiting from local companies. Our section s theme of the final
project is toys, particularly for those aged eight and under. Therefore, we wanted to construct a
toy which is fun, yet suitable for children within that age group. We decided to design an LED
maze for our final project. It primarily consist of a hockey themed maze with several LED beams
as barriers. A mini air hockey puck is part of the toy and the user utilizes it to glide

Napoleon Bonaparte Moral Responsibility
Moral responsibility is the status of morally deserving praise, blame, reward, or punishment for an
act or omission, in accordance with one s moral obligations. Since the foretelling of history began,
many historians have placed their biased opinion on important events that took place in the past.
This can mean leaving out relevant information about an important event or person which causes
an altered understanding on the subject. Historians are faced with many different types of
evidence regarding an event that took place in the past. As a result they can choose what they want
to ignore or accept based off of their personal morals. It is not appropriate for historians to

For example, the events that took place while Napoleon Bonaparte was the emperor of France,
may have caused historians to have different points of views about his role as a leader.
Historians that live in France today may characterize Napoleon in different ways that historians
in other parts of the world would not. The historians that support Napoleon would tend to over
emphasize his skill and talent as a military leader and highlight all that he did to benefit France.
The French considered Napoleon to be their savior for resolving the French Revolution and
implementing a more stable government. Napoleon said that a leader is a dealer of hope.
Napoleon said this to let his citizens know that he would give them optimism and not let them
down. They also admire him because of The Napoleonic Code. Since feudalism was removed
from France, they had been without laws since the end of the revolution. The code was based
off of the Justinian s Code which was apart of Roman Law. The Napoleonic Code was divided
into three categories; one s personal status, property, and the acquisition of property. However,
Napoleon s achievements may be ignored by a historian that is from a different part of the
world. That historian could entice people to dislike Napoleon by focusing on the negative
aspects of his reign. They would most likely emphasize the Napoleonic Wars, which lasted for 12
years. Also they may bring up the fact that five 500,000 out of 600,000 troops that he sent into
Russia were slaughtered because he failed to notice that the Russians had been tricking him into
coming further and further into Russia. In doing so, the Russians slowly picked off his troops one
by one. By letting their moral beliefs influence what facts they include in their accounts of

This dichotomy reinforces the orientalist notion of the West as male and the East as the female.
But, despite these differences, they both share a crucial value: preserving the patriarchal system,
even if it results in their own commodification. When analyzed in the barest of terms, both of these
women want to get married, and their actions steer them towards that objective. Incidentally, in
striving toward that goal, they become things, not people. Mei Li allows herself to be inspected
like an animal or manufactured product, and Linda s song I Enjoy Being a Girl places the utmost
importance on her appearance, not her personality or intellect.
Race Representation and the Generation Gap
One way that representation of race manifests itself in Flower Drum Song is through a generation
gap: the older versus newer generation. If we compare Ta to his father, there is a clear
distinction in both their dress and their speech. Ta wears American suits and ties while Master
Wang wears stereotypical Chinese garb. He even accidentally burns his suit when he is forced to
wear one. Wang also holds on to a more traditional way of doing things. He is hesitant to put his
money in the bank, and when his sister in law finally convinces him to do so, he is unaware of
how to behave in such a contemporary western setting and sets off the alarm, momentarily creating
a frenzy. His scenes with his younger son are

Aktion T4 Euthanasia
In order to understand Germany s widespread acceptance of the 1933 Law for Prevention of
Hereditarily Diseased Offspring and the subsequent implementation of the T4 euthanasia program
in 1939, it is necessary to discuss the scientific origins of eugenics. Within this discussion a
distinction must also be made between genetics and eugenics. The study of genetics was founded
by German scientist, Gregor Mendel, in the years 1856 to 1863. Although the importance of
Mendel s work was not realized until sixteen years after his death in 1884, he continues to be
credited for his pea plant experiments role in discovering the statistical laws of heredity; from
which it was concluded that genetic traits could be transferred from one generation to the... Show

In order to give it the appearance of a wartime measure, he backdated it to September 1, 1939, the
start date of World War 11. In doing so, he anticipated that public fears of a national crisis would
amass support for his euthanasia program. His plans to eliminate life unworthy of life were first
developed and administered from the Fuhrer s address Tiergartenstrasse 4, under the code name
Aktion T4. This directive involved much of the German psychiatric community and was lead by
some of the nations most creditable physicians. The president of the German Red Cross and SS
head surgeon Dr. Ernst Robert Grawitz, worked alongside Hitlers chancellery Chief Philip Buhler,
his deputy director Victor Brack, and his personal physician Dr. Brandt. Each of these men were
charged, with the responsibility for increasing the authority of physicians to be designated by name,
to the end that patients considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of
their state health can be granted a mercy death. The T4 measure was further extended when
psychiatric professor, Werner Hyde and some other senior psychiatrists, joined the program. Under
the guidance of these psychiatrist a program was developed to identify the psychiatric institutions,
hospitals, and homes, that held chronically ill patients. Once identified the life or death of a patient
was left at the discretion of these medical practitioners. It is also important to note that death was
not equally distributed, patients economic status was a determining factor in their right to life;
individuals unable to or able to perform only routine work could be put to death. Signifying that for
some doctors productivity outweighed the so called dangers of mental

Knapp Commission Scandal
The Knapp Commission, established in 1970 by New York City Mayer John V. Lindsey
(Dempsey Forst, 2016). The Commission was set up by a committee of five members, to
investigate allegations of police corruption in New York City( Dempsey Forst,2016). After
becoming concerned with the corruption of other officers, two New York CityOfficers, Frank
Serpicoand David Durk supplied information to a New York City reporter, David Burnham (Knapp
Commission, n.d.). Burnham wrote a series of articles that appeared in the New York Times. These
reports prompted the establishment of the Knapp Commission.
Accounts of corruption were mainly prostitution, gambling, and narcotics ( Knapp Commission,
n.d.). It was determined that there two types of corruption, the grass eaters, and man eaters(
Dempsey Forst, 2016). The grass eaters were officers that are that do not search for opportunities,
however, do not turn down activities or events that come their way. Officers taking advantage of
free meals, movie tickets, coffee, donuts, or free hotel rooms, do not see this as corruption. It is
seen as appreciation for a job well done. Officers who take advantage of more criminal activities are
called man eaters( Dempsey Forst, 2016). These activities include gambling, narcotics, prostitution,

The Open Boat Symbolism
The struggle for survival can be found in many different settings. It can be seen in a hospital
room, nursing home, the battlefield or at sea like in The Open Boat , written by Stephen Crane.
In this story four different men are on a lifeboat. The oiler represents the good working men, the
correspondent the observers, the cook represents the followers and the captain represents the
leaders. The Oiler named Billie, he is physically the strongest one on the boat and the only one we
know that name of. He keeps the men safe from the waves. The correspondent which is actually
the author himself, he is the one who asks the big questions. Always deep inside his own head.
The captain who mourns his ship, he is a strong guy but he is in charge so

Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
Globalization of Korean Popular Culture in Asia
1. Introduction
Since 1990s, Korean Popular Culture has had a strong influence in Asian countries, including
China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Singapore. This new popular cultural phenomenon in Asia
is called the Korean Wave , also known as hallyu in Korean pronunciation, which refers to the surge
of popularity of Korean popular culture abroad, particularly in Asia(Kin 284). The Korean Waveis
first coined in mid 1999 by journalists in Beijing who are surprised by the fast growing popularity
of Korean entertainment and popular Culture in China(Fiaola 1).
Korean Wave certainly brings a big hit to Asian countries, but at the same time, some anti Korean
feelings are aroused as they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This, originally, supposed to be the last work of Samsung Entertainment Group and the group
will break up afterwards. Shiri, surprisingly, got a big hit from Korea and other Asian countries.
Although it costs only about 2% of average budget of Hollywood films, it was popular throughout
the world. As Diffrient mentioned, Shiri led to a pan Asian phenomenon after its releases in
Japan, Hong Kong and Taiwan(42). Later on, films such as Joint Security Area and My Sassy Girl
also gave a big hit to Asia, which further spread Korean popular culture to other Asian countries. As
a Hollywood reporter said, Korea has transformed itself from an embattled cinematic backwater into
the hottest film market in Asia (Segers 14).
Korean TV dramas also floods the daily programming of free to air TV stations and even become
part of the routine viewing habits of their respective audiences(Beng 2). Starting with What Is
Love All About and Stars in My Heart in the late 1990s, and Winter Sonata and Dae Jang Geum
in recent years, Korean television drama and its stars such as Bae Yong Jun and Lee Young Ae,
have attracted Asian audiences. Korean TV dramas were dubbed into Mandarin in Taiwan in
2004 and into Cantonese in Hong Kong in 2005. It was soon dubbed for broadcasting in China
and Japan in 2006. According to the Television Broadcast Limited(TVB), Dae Jang Geum had
broke the rating record of Hong Kong TV dramas since 1991, which rated 50 points,

The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell
In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical
discussion. In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter
Bell, Remaking the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of
Peter Bell in order to expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and
subject matter. Despite this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our
perspective and distance us from the first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance
prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing the significance of Peter Bell and undermines
Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical
Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent parodies that were written about Peter Bell.
Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by
suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody ultimately serves as a distortion of
Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through Peter Bell s journey of self
discovery. William Wordsworth
dramatizes real life situations by using aspects of the gothic genre
in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine William Wordsworth s
thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to which the gothic mode
of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways

What Did Thomas Edison Contribute To Society
The reason why I think that Thomas Edison was one of the most important is, because one thing
that Thomas Edison did to make a huge impact to the world was he invented the light
bulb.Thomas was born on February 11, 1847 and as a child he grew up very talented and smart,
he had his parents help him set up his own newspaper business of course it was very small but he
was the age of 12 years old when he formed the newspaper it was called Grand Trunk Herald .
Also at the age of 12 years old he set up a small lab in a train cart for baggage for doing some
experiments mainly with chemicals and later into his experiments his train car caught on fire and
he just had to continue selling newspaper along the railroad stations. As Edison excelled in his
career he grew up to age 19 years old he moved away from his parents into Louisville, Kentucky
where he started his experiments once again at a publishing newspaper place but all he could get
on that job was late nights so he just did experiments when he had some freetime.... Show more

him a couple thousand dollars for and he left his job as a publisher and went onto a full time job
as an inventor. He then started to invent a better telegraph that could be better the the original one
and as a young kid he became about half deaf and little noises is all he could

Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business
A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the
right mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s
global economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans
developed by top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will
accomplish and how they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong
as the people they have to do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and
senior managementall at once. They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers
establish a business plan and then, they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their
goals. The most critical resource is their labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if
managers develop a human resourcesplan that specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an
effective business.
An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its
people. In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn
to a Human Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen
Attner, 2013). Just like most functions within an organization, there is a process for staffing that is
made up of eight elements. The eight elements of the staffing process include human resource

Health And Illness Of Healthcare Healthcare is provided by a number of different professionals to achieve the restoration of a balance between all factors of a person s life when faced with disease, illness, injury, childbirth and surgery. The main health care professionals that are required are doctors nurses, midwives and paramedical personnel. This multidisciplinary team approach to health care brings a number of benefits to the patient and many systems and processes are in place to achieve a high standard of patient outcomes. Positive relationship between patients and the healthcare providers promotes patient centered care and enhances outcomes. (Dwamena et al,.2012; Laine Davidoff, 1996). Healthcare professionals build a strong network of providing healthcare driven programming, leadership initiatives to address the ongoing challenges of providing better healthcare. Health and illness lie on a continuum for all individuals from birth through to death. Humans are very well organized but we rely heavily on all our systems integrating smoothly and without problems. However when a person s internal balance changes with one system not functioning well then a flow on of problems to other systems may occur with it including physically, psychologically and socially. Over time other disciplines began to emerge especially as technologies expanded and it was recognized that people often needed health services other than physical care in order to maintain wellness. • 3. Babette s Feast Dinesen s short story Babette s Feast which is included in her book Anecdotes of Destiny and Ehrengard is an amazing read. The story is about two sisters, Martine and Philippa, who are raised in a very religious family. The father of the two young ladies is the leader of a religious sect and he raised his daughters to be charitable within their community. The beautiful young ladies were taught not to live life for themselves but for others. To them luxurious fare was sinful, (Dinesen 32). This quote exemplifies that the two young ladies were raised to deny all temptations on Earth and that their focus in life should be placed on charity and getting to heaven. The girls are so used to following the rules of their father, even after his death,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The audience is able to learn that an indulgence and temptation is apart of life. Individuals have to be able to focus on the present and not just the future. The constituents of Berlevaag were so concentrated on life after death rather than the current life they were living; they were not living in reality because they had believed and been taught that reality occurs in the afterlife. However, Babette was able to teach them otherwise through the feast. She brought the disciples of the Dean and the sister s together in communion. With the help of General Loewenheilm s rant on his mental and spiritual journey as well as his regrets along the journey the guests of the dinner were able to reflect on their journeys and how they have not been living their lives to their full potential because they have been so blinded by religion. Babette made the people of Berlevaag realize that life needs to be enjoyed as much as possible. This short story is not only a lesson for the constituents of Berlevaag, but it is a lesson for the readers as well. We the readers are taught to be more like Babette, be selfless, to know our own worth, and appreciate what we have on earth while we still have the opportunity. Therefore to answer the question posed in the title, the meaning to life is determined by several subfactors within religion and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Then go into detail about two organs, with their functions, what tissues they are made of and where they are found in the body. Tissues: Tissues are groups of similar cells that have specific functions. In this piece of work I ll talk about these types of cells: Epithelial Tissues: Epithelial are the lining of internal and external surfaces and body cavities, including tubes/channels (ducts) carrying secretions from glands. Epithelial tissues can be made of several layers of cells (called compound epithelia), or a single layer known as simple epithelia. The matrix of a tissue can be secreted by the connective tissues within the body. The functions of connective tissues are to transport materials around the body to give support to the weak areas to protect and support the body. Body Organs: The body has different organs that work together and they make up a system such as the Respiratory system, the cardiovascular system, the musculoskeletal system and the nervous system. These are the main systems within the body and are made up of individual organs that then work together. For instance, the respiratory system is made of the nose, lungs, heart and this lets us breathe. Blood: Blood is a bodily fluid that transports oxygen and nutrients to the cells within the body. Blood has plasma that lets the different types of blood travel round the body. Plasma contains proteins that have different functions for the blood clotting, transporting and defence organisms and osmotic organisations. The plasma carries the red blood cell which has a elastic membrane so it can fit through the small capillaries within the body. Red blood cells can be also known as erythrocytes they don t have a nucleus when they are matured which gives a bigger space for oxygen, although as there is no nuclei the red blood cells can t divide so they only live for around 120 days. Red blood cells gain their colour from haemoglobin, oxygenated blood which is known as arterial blood which flows through the arteries coming from the heart and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Direct Democracy Vs Representative Democracy Essay Direct Democracy vs Representative Democracy The term Democracy is derived from two Greek words, demos, meaning people, and kratos, meaning rule. These two words form the word democracy which means rule by the people. Aristotle, and other ancient Greek political philosophers, used the phrase, `the governors are to be the governed , or as we have come to know it, `rule and be ruled in turn . The two major types of democracy are Representative Democracy and Direct Democracy. Clearly the arguments for and against each form of democracy are plentiful. However, it is my belief that theoretically, Direct Democracy is the superior form of political rule. Due to problems with in the direct democratic system, its use as a practical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is not even thinkable that all citizens will agree on what good is. Rousseau recognized this and accepted a term of majority rule. Those who voted against a policy which is found to be the best for the general, must have been thinking of personal gains, rather than the gains of the entire society. The feature which distinguishes direct democracy from other forms of government is the idea of agreement and the key to agreement is discussion. It is impossible to reach an agreement without discussion, because it is not right to think that everybody will have the same opinion on all matters. But, it is very possible, that through discussion an agreement could be reached by all members. Representation, on the other hand allows a select few to make decisions in their own best interest, which is not necessarily the best interest of the society. However, direct democracy is not the perfect method to produce a union of the community. For a direct democracy to work, face to face communication between all members of the community is needed. The only way this is possible is to meet in large groups. Due to the fear of high tension, many citizens will not participate in these large group meeting. So in order for these fearful people to voice their opinions they must get together in smaller, less tensions groups, where they are not as timid to say as they wish to see happen. A direct democracy can only work in a small group, so as a form of government for an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Library shelves bulge with valuable management information about various factors that can affect our work performance and decisions. However, although we wish to know answers to the question of what factors affect successful management, most individuals have neither the time to wade through pages and pages in the off chance of uncovering possible gems nor the capacity to meticulously examine a particular situation to discover what impedes them to success. Successful management stands far beyond a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Solving a problem also subsumes decision making. The first decision making lesson we should learn is, do we really need to make a decision? There may be times when not deciding can be the best option. This is not the same as deferring a decision, just because it s difficult or uncomfortable. Not deciding is not a procrastinator s charter; nor is it the same as deciding to do nothing. This can be a legitimate outcome from a proper situation analysis. However, deliberately waiting to see if a decision needs to be made is an equally valid approach. Making an unnecessary decision can do more harm than good. In certain situations some problems do go away and no decision is the best decision. Patience is here a virtue, and when faced with a decision making situation, perhaps learning to be patient is also a decision making lesson. Nonetheless, a manager needs to be careful of oversimplifying this approach, considering that most situations will require a decision and an action. In most cases, a successful manager is also aware of the meaning of the word Leadership. For example, leadership could be defined as the ability to guide, direct, influence or inspire. However, one word explanations don t really do much to help us understand complex concepts, and leadership can certainly be defined as that. Good leadership ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This attracts attention as if the dog was crying for help. The use of colour is used well as the picture of the dog is a golden brown shade, which is very attractive I would say. • 11. Utopian Urbanism That Forms Utopic Degeneration From recent years, utopian urbanism connects with the so called crisis of modernist urbanism that forms utopic degeneration. Utopia has developed to mean a community with a visionary system of political and societal perfection, where cities that function to improve the daily lives of its citizens; an ideal society, However these concepts are more often than not depicted as an impossible dream, yet too bold, too radical to ever exist in real life. Some utopian visions are focused on new technology, whereas others are on intact landscapes. In other occasions, some are based on new social orders, but all were combined under a radical avant garde and progressive architecture. It is this, their new and bold concepts that drive the imagination of architects and town planners. Although rarely realized in full, principles from some utopian visions have been adopted in part and have had significant influence on existing cities such as New York, Chandigarh and Paris. They are a catalyst for generating ideas and new forms of thinking that leads to, for better or for worse the many innovations in 21st century urban planning. Since utopian thinking can produce a vision of the future that is achievable, what is the connection between having a vision of the future, whether achievable or not, and utopian thinking? The concept of utopia, derived from Thomas Mores, in his famous text in 1516 where he refers a place as to both somewhere good and to nowhere. The connections between utopian ... The red beets symbolize the blood of the Paschal lamb, which was used to mark the lintel and doorposts of the houses during the first Passover (Exodus 12:22). Any house with sign of blood was safe from the lat plague. The egg is to symbolise a new life. The egg is usually hard boiled and then roasted and grilled. The egg also represents how a dead feature becomes a new life, so in this case a chick. Jews believe that this is joyful as it relates to them. Jews recite the Hallel during this time. Marror or bitter herbs are usually freshly grated horseradish or horseradish paste. This brings tears to the eyes of the Jews, and symbolises the sadness felt by the Jews. This reminds the Jews of slavery. Maror is used in the Seder because of the commandment (in Numbers 9:11) to eat the paschal lamb with unleavened bread and bitter herbs. • 18. Uses And Uses Of Photosynthesis Introduction: Photosynthesis is a process that plants use to create glucose by utilizing sunlight, carbon dioxide, and water. The pigments in a plant absorb light by way of photosynthesis and each pigment can absorb different colors but will reflect green light because it does not really absorb it. Therefore, plants always appear to have a green color. Plants have four pigments that were tested in this exercise called carotenoids such as carotenes/xanthophyll, also pigments chlorophyll a and chlorophyll b. Chlorophyll a absorbs blue/violet light, chlorophyll b absorbs red/blue light, and carotene absorbs blue green/violet colors. Oxygen is after product of photosynthesis along with glucose which is used later in cellular respiration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One table was used to describe how photosynthesis would occur with regular white light and one that was covered which measured the rate of cellular respiration. The other table describes the rate of photosynthesis and gross photosynthesis of green/white light. The table for green/white light was measured with accuracy with a volumeter tube. By analyzing the data, it can be confirmed that green light did not perform photosynthesis as fast as white light and white light performed photosynthesis creating oxygen more rapidly than the tube that had no light. Discussion: The second hypothesis on the rate of photosynthesis (green/white light) was correct because the data in the table above states that the rate of photosynthesis (which was measured in volumeters) was higher in the tube that was exposed to white light. The green light produced much slower rate results for photosynthesis because the color was not really absorbed very well. Plants use all colors of light to use photosynthesis except for green light. This means all wavelengths of light are used to make oxygen except for the green wavelength. One source of error in this experiment was the results for photosynthesis with light. The foil kept ... Males and females develop with different size bones and ligaments, the older they get. As males get older the bones and ligaments get bigger. This helps them because they tend to play more of the physical and aggressive sports, where they are strongest. After puberty in the male body, more strength develops automatically from the hormone testosterone as well. When females are done going through puberty, their overall size of their ACL is smaller and weaker. Research shows that, Not only does the intercondylar notch (the groove in the femur through which the ACL travels) tend to be smaller in women, but so is the ACL itself, leading it more prone to injury (HORWITZ ACL). One disadvantage that females have, is the size of the ACL. According to Orthopedic Surgeon Steve Horwitz there is another disadvantage, It is well established that female athletes typically have poor hamstring strength,[3] which is considered one possible risk factor for ACL ruptures.[4] If the hamstring cannot balance the power of the quadriceps (front thigh muscle), the imbalance can cause significant stress to the ACL, leading to injury (HORWITZ ACL). An unbalanced set of lower leg muscles has a big effect on every movement in sports and it is important to keep that strength up at a higher level. In 3.6 million years ago, Australopithecus afarensis is considered the earliest hominins that are close relative to Homo. Afarensis had slender body built, but relatively larger than modern humans, but with smaller brains, and a prognathic face. In 1975, the discovery of Lucy commonly referred as first family , reveals evidence of bipedalism. • 38. Napoleon Bonaparte Moral Responsibility Moral responsibility is the status of morally deserving praise, blame, reward, or punishment for an act or omission, in accordance with one s moral obligations. Since the foretelling of history began, many historians have placed their biased opinion on important events that took place in the past. This can mean leaving out relevant information about an important event or person which causes an altered understanding on the subject. Historians are faced with many different types of evidence regarding an event that took place in the past. As a result they can choose what they want to ignore or accept based off of their personal morals. It is not appropriate for historians to distribute moral responsibilityon events that took place in the past... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example, the events that took place while Napoleon Bonaparte was the emperor of France, may have caused historians to have different points of views about his role as a leader. Historians that live in France today may characterize Napoleon in different ways that historians in other parts of the world would not. The historians that support Napoleon would tend to over emphasize his skill and talent as a military leader and highlight all that he did to benefit France. The French considered Napoleon to be their savior for resolving the French Revolution and implementing a more stable government. Napoleon said that a leader is a dealer of hope. Napoleon said this to let his citizens know that he would give them optimism and not let them down. They also admire him because of The Napoleonic Code. Since feudalism was removed from France, they had been without laws since the end of the revolution. The code was based off of the Justinian s Code which was apart of Roman Law. The Napoleonic Code was divided into three categories; one s personal status, property, and the acquisition of property. However, Napoleon s achievements may be ignored by a historian that is from a different part of the world. That historian could entice people to dislike Napoleon by focusing on the negative aspects of his reign. They would most likely emphasize the Napoleonic Wars, which lasted for 12 years. Also they may bring up the fact that five 500,000 out of 600,000 troops that he sent into Russia were slaughtered because he failed to notice that the Russians had been tricking him into coming further and further into Russia. In doing so, the Russians slowly picked off his troops one by one. By letting their moral beliefs influence what facts they include in their accounts of Napoleon, historians fail to report an accurate record of his ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was the eighth stage musical by the team of Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II. The piece opened in 1958 on Broadway and was subsequently made into a 1961 musical film. The team hired Gene Kelly (famous for Singin in the Rain) to make his debut as a stage director with the musical and scoured the country for their cast. This dichotomy reinforces the orientalist notion of the West as male and the East as the female. But, despite these differences, they both share a crucial value: preserving the patriarchal system, even if it results in their own commodification. When analyzed in the barest of terms, both of these women want to get married, and their actions steer them towards that objective. Incidentally, in striving toward that goal, they become things, not people. Mei Li allows herself to be inspected like an animal or manufactured product, and Linda s song I Enjoy Being a Girl places the utmost importance on her appearance, not her personality or intellect. Race Representation and the Generation Gap One way that representation of race manifests itself in Flower Drum Song is through a generation gap: the older versus newer generation. If we compare Ta to his father, there is a clear distinction in both their dress and their speech. Ta wears American suits and ties while Master Wang wears stereotypical Chinese garb. He even accidentally burns his suit when he is forced to wear one. Wang also holds on to a more traditional way of doing things. He is hesitant to put his money in the bank, and when his sister in law finally convinces him to do so, he is unaware of how to behave in such a contemporary western setting and sets off the alarm, momentarily creating a frenzy. Aktion T4 Euthanasia In order to understand Germany s widespread acceptance of the 1933 Law for Prevention of Hereditarily Diseased Offspring and the subsequent implementation of the T4 euthanasia program in 1939, it is necessary to discuss the scientific origins of eugenics. Within this discussion a distinction must also be made between genetics and eugenics. The study of genetics was founded by German scientist, Gregor Mendel, in the years 1856 to 1863. Although the importance of Mendel s work was not realized until sixteen years after his death in 1884, he continues to be credited for his pea plant experiments role in discovering the statistical laws of heredity; from which it was concluded that genetic traits could be transferred from one generation to the... In doing so, he anticipated that public fears of a national crisis would amass support for his euthanasia program. His plans to eliminate life unworthy of life were first developed and administered from the Fuhrer s address Tiergartenstrasse 4, under the code name Aktion T4. This directive involved much of the German psychiatric community and was lead by some of the nations most creditable physicians. The president of the German Red Cross and SS head surgeon Dr. Ernst Robert Grawitz, worked alongside Hitlers chancellery Chief Philip Buhler, his deputy director Victor Brack, and his personal physician Dr. Brandt. Each of these men were charged, with the responsibility for increasing the authority of physicians to be designated by name, to the end that patients considered incurable according to the best available human judgment of their state health can be granted a mercy death. The T4 measure was further extended when psychiatric professor, Werner Hyde and some other senior psychiatrists, joined the program. Under the guidance of these psychiatrist a program was developed to identify the psychiatric institutions, hospitals, and homes, that held chronically ill patients. Once identified the life or death of a patient was left at the discretion of these medical practitioners. It is also important to note that death was not equally distributed, patients economic status was a determining factor in their right to life; individuals unable to or able to perform only routine work could be put to death. • 45. The Genre Of Victire In William Wordsworth s Peter Bell In recent years, William Wordsworth s Peter Bell has become the subject of much critical discussion. In an article entitled, J. H. Reynolds Re Echoes the Wordsworthian Reputation: Peter Bell, Remaking the Work and Mocking the Man, Brian Bates focuses on subsequent parodies of Peter Bell in order to expose how the parodies mock Wordsworth s use of genre, poetic diction, and subject matter. Despite this harsh criticism, Bates suggests that the parodies renew our perspective and distance us from the first reading of Wordsworth s Peter Bell. This distance prohibits the reader from fully conceptualizing the significance of Peter Bell and undermines Wordsworth s abilities as a writer. John Hamilton Reynolds parody entitled Peter Bell: A Lyrical Ballad was the catalyst for all of the subsequent parodies that were written about Peter Bell. Reynolds satirizes the main character Peter Bell, but he also predicts the ruin of Wordsworth by suggesting that this work leads to his demise. The parody ultimately serves as a distortion of Wordsworth s qualms with morality, which he conveys through Peter Bell s journey of self discovery. William Wordsworth dramatizes real life situations by using aspects of the gothic genre in order to portray the topic of repentance. In this paper, I will examine William Wordsworth s thematic concerns with death in Peter Bell in order to observe the extent to which the gothic mode of writing structures the concept of repentance and the ways ... What Did Thomas Edison Contribute To Society The reason why I think that Thomas Edison was one of the most important is, because one thing that Thomas Edison did to make a huge impact to the world was he invented the light bulb.Thomas was born on February 11, 1847 and as a child he grew up very talented and smart, he had his parents help him set up his own newspaper business of course it was very small but he was the age of 12 years old when he formed the newspaper it was called Grand Trunk Herald . Also at the age of 12 years old he set up a small lab in a train cart for baggage for doing some experiments mainly with chemicals and later into his experiments his train car caught on fire and he just had to continue selling newspaper along the railroad stations. • 47. Organizational Strategy For A Successful Business A successful business is made up of various parts so it is imperative that managers develop the right mix of objectives and personnel if they want to have a fighting chance to survive in today s global economy. An up and coming business starts with strategic, operational and tactical plans developed by top executives and other managers. These plans define what the company will accomplish and how they are going to achieve it. Effective leaders know a plan is only as strong as the people they have to do the work. Bosses cannot be the worker, front line supervisor and senior managementall at once. They have to rely on their workforce to get the job done. Managers establish a business plan and then, they turn their focus on the resources required to realize their goals. The most critical resource is their labor force. Organizational strategy is only effective if managers develop a human resourcesplan that specifies the appropriate manpower needed to run an effective business. An organizational plan defines the purpose of a company, but a business is lifeless without its people. In order to hire, train, and promote a quality talent pool, managers in a large firm will turn to a Human Resource manager or personnel manager to find potential candidates (Plunkett, Allen Attner, 2013). Just like most functions within an organization, there is a process for staffing that is made up of eight elements. The eight elements of the staffing process include human resource ...
