After Recently Beginning My Summer Internship In The Human
After recently beginning my summer internship in the Human Resource Department at North
American Lighting (NAL), I personally observe the issues within the hiring process of new
employees. Although the hiring process at NAL is quite simple, it is not releasing the desired outcome.
To apply for a job at NAL, candidates can either apply by filling out an application at the Employment
Center or going through Lyons, a temporary hiring service. Once the applications are complete, they
are sent to NAL to be reviewed by the Human Resource Team. When reviewing applications, the HR
team mainly focuses on the educational background, skills and abilities, and past employment history.
When looking at the educational background, the HR team confirms ... Show more content on

Below is a chart that displays the resignations of the new hires for the month of March. Figure 1
displays all of NAL new hire resignations for the month of March. The total number of new hires for
the month of March was 34 and by the end of March, 13 of those new hires decided to resign from
their position. This situation is a direct occurrence from new hires lack of knowledge of the actually
job that they applied for and the hiring of underqualified candidates. This paper will analyze research
and data of innovative hiring process that can improve the turnover rate of NAL s new hires. When
taking a deeper look into the hiring process, there are many factors that bring question to NAL s hiring
success. The first was the actually job application. When actually looking at NAL s job application the
top asks the applicant to check the positons applying for and list six job positions. The most important
information needed on a job application is a description of the position applying for because this
becomes the basis for determining who can succeed in the filling the position (Mamoon, 2013). NAL s
application does not have any job descriptions, which means that applicants are not really
understanding the nature of the job or the necessary job traits needed to be successful before applying.
When acquiring a job description, many new companies have begun the innovative process of
obtaining a job

Psychotherapy Theories Practices Final Paper
I believe that psychotherapy is a reciprocal process of engagement, learning and changing that
happens in both the client and the therapist, Therefore, when the client comes from a radically
different cultural background from our own, as clinicians we must familiarize ourselves and adjust to
the nature and conditions of that culture. For a while, the most prominent focal point of
psychoanalytic studies, literature and practices in the United States has been the issues concerning the
development of the sense of self and personal identity and the importance of the child s early
attachment to the mother and the emergence of the self as an independent identity (Corsini, 2011, p.
26). Through my experience as a client, student and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
No matter how acculturated clients are, when using Western psychotherapy with non Western clients,
it is important to consider the possibility that their worldviews contain structures that differ from those
of Westerners. One of the most prominent figures and contributors of the study of development and of
object relations was Hungarian born psychoanalyst Margaret Mahler (1968) who trained in Vienna
and immigrated to New York City. Through the use of an empirical model of observation, Mahler
studied the overt (but pre verbal) behavioral interactions between mother child dyads in order to
formulate the theory of separation individuation, which is the topic I have chosen to focus on for this
paper. Although I acknowledge the values, potential usefulness, and ways in which Mahler s theory of
separation individuation can be universally applicable, I would argue that it can become a critical issue
(having the impact of harm than of help) in psychotherapy with clients from collectivistic and
Confucian societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam.
I recognize the wide scope of clinical implications that Mahler s separation individuation theory
offers, not only in clarifying mother child interactions and object relations, but also in terms of its intra
psychic and inter personal dimensions. Symbiosis is a biological term borrowed and used
metaphorically by Mahler et al. (1975) when referring to the infant s intra psychic

Kansas City Hyatt-Regency Stairs
In 1980 the Kansas City Hyatt Regency Hotel opened, with the main attraction being the atrium
bridged by 3 walkways on the second, third, and fourth floors which were suspended from the hotel
lobby roof. These three walkways stretched a distance of 37 meters and were suspended from the
atrium s roof by 32 millimetre diameter rods (Delatte, 2009). On 17 July 1981, just over a year after
the opening during a dance, two of the walkways collapsed killing 114 people and injuring more than
200 others (Delatte, 2009).
Although many factors contributed to the collapse of the walkways, the biggest contributor was the
design. A few investigations ran but one done by National Bureau of Standards (NBS) came to a
number of conclusions. Firstly, the collapse of the walkways happened under the action of loads that
were noticeably less than the design loads specified by the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall,
1982). Secondly, as constructed, the beam rod connections, the fourth floor to ceiling rods, and the
third floor walkway rods did not satisfy the design requirements of the Kansas City Building Code
(Marshall, 1982). Thirdly, under the original, continuous, rod arrangement, Figure 1, the beam rod
connections would have had the ability to resist the loads calculated to have been acting at the time of
collapse (Marshall, 1982). And lastly, it was also found that neither the quality of workmanship nor
the resources used in the walkways had a major role in starting the collapse (Marshall, 1982). ... Show

Even if the details had not been modified the rod hanger connection would have violated building
standards. As built, however, the connection only supported 30% of the minimum load which explains
why the walkways collapsed well below maximum load (Feld and Carper,

West Coast Guard
Hiss vehemently denied these claims, saying that he had never been a communist , but then was
eventually found guilty. At this point, he had gone too long without being charged and could not be
charged with espionage, his original charge, but he was found to be lying under oath. He was charged
with perjury, and served 44 months in jail. This is one of many examples of the type of persecution
present during this period. Thousands of people were convicted, and even those that were not
convicted suffered setbacks and ostracism by their friends, family, co workers and employers. Many
people who were even suspected of being Communist were almost immediately fired from their jobs.
An example of this is the West Coast Port Security Program. This ... Show more content on

The justification behind this was that any Communist that was working with the ports was a security
risk between Russia and the United States. At first, almost all of the unions of dockworkers and
seamen joined in this program, because they were all anticommunist. After some time, the Coast
Guard became involved in the program. The Coast Guard took over many functions that the unions
had been handling by themselves when it came to this project, and this was met by growing hostility
from the unions as well as the individual employers. After the involvement of the Coast Guard, many
unions became angry and hostile toward the Coast Guard: There was considerable opposition on the
part of the maritime unions to the original transfer of these functions to the Coast Guard and this
antagonism toward the Coast Guard has not altogether abated. (Brown/Fassett). Not only did this lead
to a huge invasion of privacy, nearly 3,800 seamen and dockworkers lost their jobs under the West
Coast Port Security Program that had been established in the immediate aftermath of the Korean War
(Schrecker). Communism was viewed as a huge security risk, and with the government s propaganda

Compare And Contrast Death Camp And The Ghetto
The Ghetto And The death camp In the war of World War two, life was hard when the Germans attack
Denmark and was planning to liquidate the Ghetto. I will be comparing a poem to a story. The two
people i ll be comparing and contrast Cristiana Chiger and Pavel Friedmann. Both people tried escape
from the germans and death. Sadly the only place they could go was the sewer, but Pavel didn t make
it and was sent to death camp where he started his poem. On the other hand Cristiana made it to the
sewer and stayed there for multiple months. This all happen just because they were Jewish. There
choice was sewers or dieng. To die from your enemy or live in torture for months. Pour Cristiana had

Keep in mind that I won t just point out the simple. I am willing to dig deeper into the mine, ... or

different gender person and different age. The places were different as well. A sewer and a death
camp. To be honest I would have wanted to go to the death camp even if I would have a better chance
surviving in the sewer. Cristiana story was much detailed while in the poem there s just not a lot, but
we learn how much they are being torchered. This is not much because the story features torture too.
Last in the differences is the help. While Pavel Friedmann is not in the sewer he not receiving any help
before ... well anything I guess. In the sewer Cristiana and others received help from the sewer men
who come down and up giving food for them to eat. That s the sad story and sasd poem about
Cristiana and Pavel Friedmann. I hope you think about this and feel how lucky you are. For now pray

The Economics of the Fast Food Industry
Huge Profits and Salaries for the Owners
In order to best maximize their profits, the big fast food giant s created the franchise system. This
system allows the companies to maintain overall control of the product, and give them a guaranteed
rate of return, while at the same time allowing local owners to create a low wage work force best
suited to local conditions. For us, as workers, that means our immediate employers are often small
business owners, and franchise owners who plead poverty when we demand higher wages.
At present 2,708 of Pizza Hut s 4,496 stores are franchises. The rest are run directly by corporate
headquarters. In Western Washington the franchise for Pizza Hut has been given to Emerald City.

Answering Company Arguments Against Higher Pay
During our organizing drive management repeatedly tried to justify the poverty level wages we earn.
Below are the most common arguments and how to refute them.
Though we will focus exclusively on the claims made by Emerald City during our campaign, most of
the pizza and other fast food franchises will use similar tactics. These responses can help workers
combat corporate propaganda justifying the low wages and few benefits we are paid.
Pizza Hut doesn t have money for raises and we simply can t compensate you for the cost of
delivering our products .
This is the most common argument made by company executives and owners when workers demand
better compensation for their work. The problem is, this is just an assertion. And they expect us to
believe it. We need to ask: where s the evidence? We want to see financial records, including: all
payment to directors and share holders and payments to the multinationals. When a union organizer
asked an executive of Emerald City to do so, he refused.
This executive then claimed that he too drove a used car and that he was just like the rest of us .
Anticipating this kind of argument, organizers had paid a visit to his listed address only a week earlier
and took photographs of his vast home. Apparently this

Hobbit s Accomplishments
Tolkien is most known for writing both The Hobbit, and later prequel The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
Yet, Tolkien s work reaches much, much further including his works expanding his literary world The
Silmarillion. Although Tolkien has authored many other stories, none have received nearly as much
attention both at the time of publication and after the fact when released into major motion films as
The Lord of the Rings series including the Hobbit. Although Tolkien would receive many awards
throughout his writing career, the most prominent seem to have stemmed from recognition generated
by The Lord of the Rings films. The most prominent award for his works, received in 1957 was the
International Fantasy Award for The Lord of the Rings.
Tolkien s worked tirelessly to build not a single linear story throughout his LOTR series, but to build
an entire world consisting of races, classes, ethnicity, language, cultures and depth to each of these
categories. Tolkien wanted his characters to have more than good plot development to them, he
wanted his characters to have depth and history that exceeded what was merely written on the pages of
his books. Tolkien s intended goal through all of these efforts was to get his readers, to reimagine

De-Extinction Essay
Did you know that scientists are trying to bring extinct animals like the Woolly Mammoth back to
life? That would be cool to see, but is it worth it? Scientists should not bring Woolly Mammoths back
to life. It would be a waste of money, it brings less attention to animals about to go extinct, and it
could hurt the ecosystem.
First, bringing back extinct animals would be a waste of money. In the passage De Extinction
Probably Isn t Worth it it says, Five recently extinct species would come at the cost of conversation
efforts for keeping forty two animals (Zielisk, S., 2017). This supports my opinion because keeping
forty two animals alive is a lot of money. Wasting that on only five extinct animals is insane for me.
Also, on Back From the Dead it says, But the clone, born with lung defects, only lasted seven minutes
(n.a., n.d.). This explains my reason because you could be keeping forty two animals alive, but instead
you brought an animal back to life, only to live seven minutes. Not only would ... Show more content

On the passage De Extinction Probably Isn t Worth it it says, Even if they re successful, it is probably
a bad idea because it would divert conversation money from still living animals (Zielisk, S., 2017).
This shows my opinion because they spent so much money on trying to de extinct animals, there
would be no more money to take care of all of the still living animals about to go extinct. According to
the passage Back From the Dead it says, Scientists also worry that if scientists can bring extinct
animals back, no one will care about keeping endangered species from becoming extinct (n.a., n.d.).
This supports my opinion because even if they did pull of to have enough money, no one would care
about the endangered species and they would eventually die off. To me, that is not a good thing. These
animals hurting the ecosystem does not sound like a good thing

Why Is Oprah Winfrey A Good Role Model
What makes a person a great role model? Does it come with age? Maybe, it comes with character.
Role models are supposed to set an example for others to follow. I consider Oprah Winfrey a role
model because she is very hardworking, humble, and giving.
One reason why I consider Oprah a role model is because of how hardworking she is. For example,
how she rose from poverty to great prosperity. While she used to be poor, she is now a billionaire.
Also, how she continues to persevere through every task. No matter how difficult it is, she always
finds a way to achieve her goal. Especially how she jumps over any hurdles that are in her way,
overlooking problems that most people use as a crutch. In other words, Oprah is a leader and role

Analysis Of Kenneth Gergen s The Defense Of Masks
In today s society masks are used depending on the specific social group we interact with. Most
people tend to have various masks or personalities when they are with specific people; such as with
their friends, family, and during work. In Kenneth Gergen s essay In Defense of Masks, he claims that
people are not apt to find a specific mask to which they can be true too however, having various masks
could be important because it allows people to adapt to various social groups . I disagree with Gergen
s claim and counter argue that utilizing only one specific mask with whomever we interact with will
help anyone live a genuine lifestyle. There are various categories that fall into masks; for instance,
makeup, clothing, religion, and appearance. Many individuals acquire masks because they seek
approval from others or simply because they are mimicking someone. Once someone adapts to having
multiple masks, it is difficult to figure out our true identity due to the variety of personalities that are
being portrayed.
Most people utilize certain masks or personalities when they are with a specific group. Various
individuals, in the presence of their parents, will act in an orderly fashion and not commit deeds which
could get them scolded. When most people are with their friends, they show their true colors. They act
totally different because they know their parents are not there to nag or keep them on check. In
another instance, when people attend work they utilize their most

Improving Recall Of Declarative Memories Essay
Napping: Improving Recall of Declarative Memories in Children Velo Vincent van Houden UC
Berkeley Introduction Sleep has an undoubtedly profound effect on cognitive function and memory
consolidation in young children. Policy makers have the ability to influence sleeping patterns in
children by means of scheduling of classes and funding activities therefore research into sleeping
patterns for optimal achievement is very important when considering the structure of early education.
Extensive research exists showing the positive effects of napping on cognitive performance tasks but
there is still somewhat of a gap in the quantitative information of adolescent napping via actimeter or
electroencephalograph when analyzing the results of declarative memory recall as well as controlling
for the effects of social interaction in lecture settings. Research on preschool children illustrated that
sleep spindles in midday naps enhanced learning for memories acquired earlier that day (Kurdziel,
Duclos Spencer, 2013). A similar study conducted with adolescents showed that napping enhanced the
duration of declarative memories which demonstrates the continued benefits of napping through
development (Lemos, Weissheimer Riberio 2014). A later study showed that nap schedules modulate
children s motor learning in finger tapping exercises and facilitate skill retention for younger children
(Ren, Guo, Yan, Liu, Jia, 2015). In another study, infants who were in a nap

Prejudice In Ron Hall s Same Kind Of Different As Me
All people experience prejudice feelings in their lives no matter who they are, where they live, or what
they have been through. Some people are the source of the prejudice feelings. Others, in contrast, are
the ones who experience the prejudice feelings being thrust upon them for one reason or another. In
Ron Hall s, Same Kind of Different as Me, prejudice is clearly portrayed throughout the novel in great
capacity. As the novel unravels, the prejudice notion is overcome through different aspects and
experiences from the characters. The first apparent trace of prejudice that is quite evident to the reader
is the prejudice that Denver Moore experiences from Ron Hall. In this situation, Ron Hall produces
the prejudice feelings towards Denver Moore because of different qualities about Denver s life. First
and foremost, Ron feels superior to Denver in many ways because of class. Since Denver is a
homeless man, and Ron a successful businessman, Ron feels as if he does not owe anything to Denver
especially his time. Debbie Hall, Ron s wife, successfully persuades Ron to help out at the homeless
shelter after a long period of prodding and encouragement. Without Debbie, Ron may never have

Negotiation Through Paradox, De Carlo
Introduction
In Teaching Negotiation through Paradox, de Carlo, defines a paradoxical professorial stance, believed
to be useful in assisting students learn negotiation concepts and methods. De Carlo defines the
paradoxes as the following: 1) caring for the students while deliberately exposing them to frustration;
2) nurturing a lively, interactive course while respecting those students who prefer to remain silent; 3)
helping the students to be more autonomous while simultaneously manipulating them; 4) accepting
their vulnerability while nurturing their creativity; 5) maintaining both professional distance and
closeness (351).

The goal of the students is to make recommendations about the highway. The project requires complex
decision making from the students. The simulation has four stages: in the first three stages, students
explore the information provided to them on a CD ROM. The CD ROM contains a simulation of a
deliberation over the highway project. Students are to discuss and debrief and record their
experiences. In the final stage, students need to organize a press conference. De Carlo believes these
simulations help students identify their emotions and the emotions of others, and use them as a
foundation to understanding negotiation.
In teaching through a paradox, de Carlo explains that we must rethink of the classroom as a
transitional space described as a place of creation and analysis. This space is intended to develop
coping skills in students who find negotiating frustrated. The professor serves as a mentor to facilitate
learning new ideas and skills with the aim of helping [students] be more effective in negotiation and
creative in life (355). However, de Carlo notes that authority should be present in classroom dynamics
while teaching through paradox. According to de Carlo, authority cannot be negotiated, but needs to
be present to create an environment that is both nurturing and frustrating. This will allow the professor
and the students to acknowledge recognition and respect, but also identify emotional cues needed

Persuasive Essay About Welding School
There are many colleges around the United States that involve courses over welding. It is all up to you
to decide what school you would like to go to to learn how to do the career you love. Midwest
Technical Institute, a.k.a MTI, is a highly appreciated school. Their program is very affordable to all
the students that decide to attend there. Also, unlike a normal university, MTI is only as long of a
program as the student needs to learn their field instead of four or more years. MTI is a school you can
go to in which you will not have to be in a humongous town or city. There is one welding school that
is not that far away from Virginia, Illinois. This school is located in Springfield, Illinois which is only
about forty five minutes away from Virginia, Illinois which is very reasonable for most people (Cost

town to where you do not have to deal with a lot of people. The location is a very reasonable place for
many people who want to stay close to home.
Another very reasonable part of MTI is that it is not all that expensive and can be very affordable for a
lot of people. The prices can vary depending on whether you are on campus, off campus and away
from home, or off campus and with your family. If you were to stay on campus, the total cost would

Theme Of Romanticism In My Antonia
When Jim Burden initially reaches Nebraska, his descriptions of nature help the reader understand not
only his personal experiences, but also the Romanticism prevalent in the book, My Antonia. This sets
the reader up for the struggle and conflict between Modernism and Romanticism in the book, which is
a major theme that Willa Cather utilizes in her novel. However, there is more to this Romantic
description that meets the eye. On pages 12 and 13, Jim describes looking at the land while he travels
to his grandparents, a passage which evokes beauty and hints towards philosophical meaning. Through
this passage in the first chapter, it becomes clear that Jim s narration of the nature around him works to
highlight the idea that the land is a heaven that is untouched. Like young Jim, the land is in a blank
slate, which intertwines the land and Jim together. This is furthered through the progression of the
land and Jim, as they progress into godlike beings. Through this progression and balance, the balance
between Modernism and Romanticism is achieved, and the reader better understands the intentions of
Cather, thus leading to a better understanding of the text as a whole. Jim s view of the land, and his
word choice in describing the land, proves that Nebraska is a symbol for heaven. This heavenly state
is important, as it shows that the land is important and highly placed. Jim explicitly states that, unlike
his hometown, Nebraska was not entirely earthly in presence. He says,

Analysis Of The Submission By Amy Waldman
Trauma can differ from person to person and there are many ways to deal with it. Writing, for
example, can be a way to preserve important traumatic memories for future generations to remember
and learn from. Ellie Wiesel writes, ...I needed to give some meaning to my survival...I only know that
without this testimony, my life as a writer or my life, period would not have become what it is: that of
a witness who believes he has a moral obligation to try to prevent the enemy from enjoying one last
victory by allowing his crimes to be erased from human memory (Wiesel viii). Although Wiesel s
Night is an autobiographical novel, authors can also create characters that exemplify real peoples
traumas and show how fictional characters overcome their grief. In The Submission, Amy Waldman
tells a story of a jury who chooses a memorial design for the victims of a devastating terrorist attack
on Manhattan. Along with the controversy that rises from the juries decision, we learn how characters
would like to deal with their grief through the memorial. Wiesel recalls a year s worth of memories,
written in detail to create images that would give the reader some insight into the traumatic events of
World War II. However, Night is not a novel that states historical facts, rather a collection of personal
struggles Wiesel faced throughout the Holocaust, beginning with the deportation from his home in
Sighet. Never shall I forget that night, the first night in camp, that turned my life

Thesis Statement For Universal Health Care
Health care is an essential requirement for well being (Maruthappu). All over the world, health care is
a constant concern because of the difficulty maintaining quality and affordability. In the United States,
health care reform has been a huge debate topic. The purpose of health care is to satisfy the medical
needs of an individual. However, many Americans consider health care a luxury, because millions of
low income families cannot afford the same care as the middle or high class. In this case, the right to
quality and affordable health care is not extended to all Americans. Universal health care will ensure a
higher life expectancy, reduce the cost of medical treatment through a single payer method, and

Essay On Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal Affective Disorder
Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a form of depression. It is when you feel sad, down, or blue at
specific times of the year. The most common time of year for this is late fall and winter. This is when
the days are shorter and most people spend less time outdoors. This is why SAD is also known as the
winter blues. SAD less commonly occurs in the spring or summer.
SAD can vary in severity and interfere with work, school, relationships, and normal daily activities.
RISK FACTORS
SAD is more common in young women, people with a history of clinical depression or bipolar

Emotional Abuse In Romantic Relationships
In a study conducted by Gormley Lopez, more than half of the college students reported emotional
and/or physical abuse in their romantic relationships, with the effects of emotional abuse being worse
on the individual than the effects of physical abuse (2010). The study results showed that the
recipients of emotional abuse often suffered from depression, lower self esteem, a reduce sense of
independence, fearfulness, and an increased risk of suicidal thoughts. Another study conducted by
Karakut Silver revealed that younger men who experience emotional abuse in interpersonal romantic
relationships don t often see themselves as victims of abuse because the rewards of the relationship
(i.e. access to sex) outweighed the costs of conflict (i.e.

Review Of Twilight By Stephanie Meyers
Twilight is a book written by Stephanie Meyers it is considered a romance, but with a lack of character
depth and without those characters having many redeeming qualities it is hard to classify it as such.
Twilight is the story of a 17 years who move in with her dad and fall in love with a vampire. There are
many poor qualities in this book including Bella the main character, the stalker like qualities of
Edward, the fact no one in the town notices the vampires, terrible parents, and a horrible villain.
Bella is the main character and the narrator of the story she is explained to be pale and that s about it.
Bella is a girl who apparently has always had to be the adult in her mother daughter relationship, but
yet she completely lacks common sense. Numerous times in the book her life is threatened and it
appears as if she actually enjoys it. She had absolutely no preservation of life it as if she thinks she is
invisible with being the most week character in the book. At one point in the book she literally passes
out from seeing blood and yet other times she rushing into danger with out a second thought. The
book tries to play her actions as brave but they come across as childish and not thought out. Another
problem is she is completely ok with Edwards s horrible behavior towards her. He literally was
sneaking into watch her sleep and she thought it was sweet. She is wanted to portrayed as one of the
most mature people in the story but she comes across as clueless

Taking a Look at Dandelions
Medicinal plants have been used since the early ages of humanity and many remedies are still used
today. Among these many plant medicines is the dandelion, whose variety of uses makes it one of the
more popular medicines. Dandelions were often used by Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans, and have
been used in Chinese medicine for over a thousand years. They came to America on the Mayflower,
brought for their medicinal benefits. Before the inventions of the lawn, dandelions were praised as a
bounty of food, medicine, and magic (Sanchez 2007).
Dandelions grow anywhere that has an abundance of sunlight, such as lawns, sidewalks, and roads,
and are difficult to get rid of because of their long roots. Against many gardener s judgement, growing
dandelions in a garden can be beneficial (Sanchez 2007). Their roots loosen the soil making it easier to
grow plants and their leaves, flowers, and roots can be harvested to cure a variety of illnesses.
Dandelions grown as a crop should be spaced about a foot apart and kept clean by hoeing. The tops
should be cut off so the land will not be smothered by the weed when the seeds appear.
Dandelions can be used as a stimulant to our bodies, but are used mainly for the urinary organs, and
also used to treat kidney and liver disorders. The leaves can be used as a general tonic and the roots
can be used for muscle pain. Dandelion greens are used as a diuretic and their effect can help lower
blood pressure. Dandelion roots also are good cleansing and

Risk Management Case Study Greenpoint
Greenpoint through the years
In 1990 over 100 stakeholders in the Greenspoint area petitioned the state to develop a 12 square mile
management district. In order to help spur Houston s growth the greater Greenspoint District was
formed in 1991 by the Texas Legislature. (District) Many business owners sought the newly
developed district to build or expand their businesses. Soon after real estate, schools parks, and public
buildings popped up over the 12 square miles of Greenspoint. In 1994 the crime wave of the late 80 s
that plagued the area was no more and a major development was soon going to open the area to more
people and businesses. The Greater Greenspoint Redevelopment Authority saw a great development in

With thousands of people being displaced by Katrina, Houston welcomed the refugees to the city.
Greenspoint was one of the locations where the refuges would settle until they could go back home
but many of the refuges made the Greenspoint area their permanent home. A few months after Katrina,
the Houston natives were quarreling with the Louisiana natives. Soon the schools, parks, and other
areas became battlegrounds for settling issues. Because of the major change in population many of the
surrounding apartments became Section 8 housing in order to accommodate the influx of so many
families trying to survive. With the new ease of being able to procure a palace to stay more low
income families made their way to Greenspoint. The old Greenspoint families and businesses that
once enjoyed and gave wealth to the district were now moving out farther north. Not long after,
Houston was also victim to a natural disaster. The storm tore apart areas in the city including
Greenspoint. Due to its proximity to the overflowed Greenpoint Bayou, Greenspoint was in dire need
of repair. As it happens more often than not, the low income families bring with them anger,
desperation, and uncertainty, among other

The Importance Of The Gaia Theory
Known as the Gaia Theory aptly named after the Ancient Greek primordial deity Gaia, a primal
Mother Earth goddess who birthed all life in existence Lovelock argued that organisms would interact
with their inorganic surroundings to form a synergistic self regulating system capable of maintaining
and perpetuating the conditions necessary for life. This self regulatory system, named Gaia, results
from the close coupling between organisms and their environment to create a Mother Earth that seeks
a consistent physical and chemical environment optimal for nurturing life, able to resist change if
necessary. For example, consider a thermostat. If a home becomes too warm or cold for comfortable
living, a thermostat can be adjusted to regulate the temperature and re establish normal, comfortable
heat. In the context of Gaia Theory, rather than seek to restore a pleasant temperature, the Gaia system
will correct for alterations in atmospheric composition, global temperatures, ocean salinity, and other
variables to re establish an environment suitable for life. Moreover, instead of a simple thermostat that
begins the warming or cooling process, the natural, complex relationships between biota (living) and
abiota (non living) will sense the chemical and physical shifts away from preferable levels and trigger
the necessary corrective actions. The Gaia Theory is, at its simplest level, a collection of negative
feedback loops involving living and nonliving components that respond

I Am An Active Participant
While it is important that my students are enjoying my class, one of the ways I am able to tell that my
students are excelling is their ability to demonstrate their growth through assessments. Although it is
important students are excelling, it is also important that students are able to be an active participant in
their own growth. Effective teachers allow students to constantly reflect on how they are doing in
class and how they are meeting classroom goals. Assessment reflection ultimately influences how
teachers and learners continue to access material. After teachers have tracked the data of students, it is
then important that they are using a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop
deep understanding of content areas.
Standard 6 states that teachers should use a variety of assessments to ensure students are reaching their
goals. My first piece of evidence includes three different assessments. Each assessment addresses a
different kind of learner. For example, the first assessment is an exit ticket that allows me to see how
students have grasped information at the end of the period. The last assessment I have included is a
writing assessment. After students took the writing assessment, I then recorded their writing scores as
demonstrated in my second piece of evidence. I carefully monitor both my student s reading and
writing progress. In order to engage my students in their own own growth, I provide ample

Jumping The Fire
Sitting around the fire we laughed at the thought. 1,000,000 dollars every year for 10 years, but you
are required to hold someone s hand and stare at them while you relieve yourself in the bathroom. I
lay this thought down on the table awaiting responses. Unanimously everyone said; Yes idiot you
could just pay someone to do it. we all again laughed at the obscene thought of having to pay someone
to sit down and hold your hands and watch you, through the involuntary hand squeezes to the noises to
be made, the mere thoughts makes us exceed a mere chuckle to loud outbursts on this serene summer
night. We keep telling more stories and more random questions as the night drags on. Justin how much
for you to jump the fire? I question, laughing at the idea with Connor and Noah. Free, watch this. He

Jump. I back up. Flash. Skid mark. Arm swing. Jump. Spin. Hard landing. Foot slip. Second skid

inside. The Story ends. The night has also ended. At this time I discovered that simply taking any

Inevitable Blowback Many claim that ISIS has been created as a result of Islamic teachings and
principles. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce of
truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the struggle
for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence. State
sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely contributing causes to
the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic events that took place on 9/11,
Islamophobia was born. It has been over a decade and Islamophobia is not only still existent, but it s
unfortunately growing in the heart of the average American more and more each day. For this we can
thank our lovely media. Muslims are being targeted at every corner. In this country, you are taught by
society to fear Islam. You are led to think that it is a violent cult that preaches hate and teaches
violence. The sad part is, whether Islam does any of this is still a question that is being debated. Only
just recently, CNN attacked Reza Aslan during a live interview for not condemning the religion of
Islam and its teachings. When he replied and defended Islam with supporting facts, they attacked him
for being hostile. In this country, you are taught that Muslims hate your great American freedom, even

Analysis Of Through A Window By Jane Goodall
Connections within Jane Goodall s Through a Window
Throughout the term, reading the book, Through a Window by Jane Goodall has been quite intriguing
for me, in that it has inspired me with new ideas and perceptions about how our own species has
evolved over time. I have really enjoyed seeing the many similarities that hominids share with other
primate species, especially chimpanzees. Goodall s research only further proves that we are not only
extremely biologically similar to chimpanzees in our DNA, but have many behavioral similarities as
well. The film, Monkey in the Mirror also shows support for our likeness in intellectuality. These
documented findings on chimpanzee and human resemblances provides the strong evidence needed to
conclude the fact that humans do indeed share a common ancestor with great apes.
I found Goodall s chapter Mothers and Daughters very fascinating, and caught my interest the most
because I immediately found myself making connections within my own life and experiences. Goodall
compared the parenting styles of the two mothers, Flo, and Passion. These two chimps have
completely opposite ways of raising their young, with Flo being very loving, nurturing, and caring of
her daughter Fifi, while Passion was a very cold, harsh, and intolerant mother to her daughter, Pom.
You can easily see the dramatic difference in how their childhood shaped the two chimpanzees in their
adulthood, just how we commonly see this in humans as well. Fifi had a

Students Overall Learning Environment And Negatively...
Certain schools around the United States have researched many books that could be disruptive to
students overall learning environment and negatively impact teen s transitions into adulthood. A
banned book or challenged book is book that the government thinks the contents inside are wrong for
the minds of the person. Some books are banned by the government or school systems due to what
students are able to read. Books can be banned due to sexual reference, controversial religious
viewpoints, and the use of drugs. For these reasons, schools are banning many books. Even though
themes presented in books are not relative to what schools actually teach, schools may still decide to
ban certain books. Stories in some banned books can show students great adventures, such as Into the
Wild by Jon Krakauer, and motivate readers to live their lives while they can, which is especially
relevant in today s society where technology can run people s lives. Even though Into the Wild by Jon
Krakauer is considered too controversial of a book because of its anti authority and adult themes; but,
the story it tells should still be taught to students because it is a valuable coming of age book for teens.
Jon Krakauer was born in 1954 in Brookline, Massachusetts, and then moved to Corvallis, Oregon,
when he was two years old. He is known for writing in the genre of nonfiction, and some of his major
works include: Into the Wild (1996), Into Thin Air (1997), Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of

The tittle of the article I will be analyzing is republicans seek to put abortion on the front burner in
2016 . The article was published in U.S. News and World Report, written by Tierney Sneed. Abortion
is a never ending debate, it is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United
States each year. Abortion is also one of the most debated topics of all time, it is a never ending debate
of whether it should be legal for women to terminate pregnancy. Some people are against abortion

While Americans long have been split on the general question of abortion though a majority do
believe it should be legal in at least some circumstances, a number of polls show that a majority of
voters oppose abortion after 20 weeks (Sneed). The republicans have proposed a bill that bans
abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be
considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does
not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the
rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights
supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in
cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). In some extreme cases a few people believe that abortion should
be allowed after the twenty week time period has passed, for instance in situations where it s not safe
for the fetus and or the mother to continue with the pregnancy, or if the baby will have some sort of
birth defects. All republican presidential candidates and those considering to join the presidential
candidate race are all supporting the twenty week abortion ban. Americans have been clear that they
do not want politicians to interfere with their health care decisions. Meanwhile

Examples Of Structural Functionalism In Animal Farm
Structural Functionalism is a sociological theory that attempt to explain why society functions the way
it does. In Animal Farm I found the following examples of Structural Functionalism. In Animal Farm,
the animals trusted they could live in peace and were guided by the standards of animalism (pg.
16).As an essential of any liberal foundation, law must be implemented to advance the peace craved.
Thus, the seven commandments were organized to guide all of the animals to practice patience,

First do all the items in your checklist (ABSOLUTELY SET THE SPARK ARM FULL UP). Failure to

injury to your hand or arm. If the car engine is cold, you should turn the key to the straight up position
(off). Go to the front of the car and pull the Choke/Primer out (usually a small wire ring in the left
lower corner of the radiator) while with your right hand, crank the engine a couple of quarter turns.
You ll have to push the crank in (toward the motor) as you turn the crank and you will feel it lock into
the ratchet. Now, go turn the key to the left (counterclockwise) and go back to the front of the engine.
NOW WITH YOUR LEFT HAND CUPPED engage the crank again and pull the crank up. Don t push
it down and don t put your thumb over the crank handle. These are safety precautions in the event the

starts. If after several attempts the engine doesn t start. Go back and turn the key off and repeat the

  • 2. After Recently Beginning My Summer Internship In The Human After recently beginning my summer internship in the Human Resource Department at North American Lighting (NAL), I personally observe the issues within the hiring process of new employees. Although the hiring process at NAL is quite simple, it is not releasing the desired outcome. To apply for a job at NAL, candidates can either apply by filling out an application at the Employment Center or going through Lyons, a temporary hiring service. Once the applications are complete, they are sent to NAL to be reviewed by the Human Resource Team. When reviewing applications, the HR team mainly focuses on the educational background, skills and abilities, and past employment history. When looking at the educational background, the HR team confirms ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Below is a chart that displays the resignations of the new hires for the month of March. Figure 1 displays all of NAL new hire resignations for the month of March. The total number of new hires for the month of March was 34 and by the end of March, 13 of those new hires decided to resign from their position. This situation is a direct occurrence from new hires lack of knowledge of the actually job that they applied for and the hiring of underqualified candidates. This paper will analyze research and data of innovative hiring process that can improve the turnover rate of NAL s new hires. When taking a deeper look into the hiring process, there are many factors that bring question to NAL s hiring success. The first was the actually job application. When actually looking at NAL s job application the top asks the applicant to check the positons applying for and list six job positions. The most important information needed on a job application is a description of the position applying for because this becomes the basis for determining who can succeed in the filling the position (Mamoon, 2013). NAL s application does not have any job descriptions, which means that applicants are not really understanding the nature of the job or the necessary job traits needed to be successful before applying. When acquiring a job description, many new companies have begun the innovative process of obtaining a job ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Psychotherapy Theories Practices Final Paper I believe that psychotherapy is a reciprocal process of engagement, learning and changing that happens in both the client and the therapist, Therefore, when the client comes from a radically different cultural background from our own, as clinicians we must familiarize ourselves and adjust to the nature and conditions of that culture. For a while, the most prominent focal point of psychoanalytic studies, literature and practices in the United States has been the issues concerning the development of the sense of self and personal identity and the importance of the child s early attachment to the mother and the emergence of the self as an independent identity (Corsini, 2011, p. 26). Through my experience as a client, student and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... No matter how acculturated clients are, when using Western psychotherapy with non Western clients, it is important to consider the possibility that their worldviews contain structures that differ from those of Westerners. One of the most prominent figures and contributors of the study of development and of object relations was Hungarian born psychoanalyst Margaret Mahler (1968) who trained in Vienna and immigrated to New York City. Through the use of an empirical model of observation, Mahler studied the overt (but pre verbal) behavioral interactions between mother child dyads in order to formulate the theory of separation individuation, which is the topic I have chosen to focus on for this paper. Although I acknowledge the values, potential usefulness, and ways in which Mahler s theory of separation individuation can be universally applicable, I would argue that it can become a critical issue (having the impact of harm than of help) in psychotherapy with clients from collectivistic and Confucian societies, such as China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam. I recognize the wide scope of clinical implications that Mahler s separation individuation theory offers, not only in clarifying mother child interactions and object relations, but also in terms of its intra psychic and inter personal dimensions. Symbiosis is a biological term borrowed and used metaphorically by Mahler et al. (1975) when referring to the infant s intra psychic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Kansas City Hyatt-Regency Stairs In 1980 the Kansas City Hyatt Regency Hotel opened, with the main attraction being the atrium bridged by 3 walkways on the second, third, and fourth floors which were suspended from the hotel lobby roof. These three walkways stretched a distance of 37 meters and were suspended from the atrium s roof by 32 millimetre diameter rods (Delatte, 2009). On 17 July 1981, just over a year after the opening during a dance, two of the walkways collapsed killing 114 people and injuring more than 200 others (Delatte, 2009). Although many factors contributed to the collapse of the walkways, the biggest contributor was the design. A few investigations ran but one done by National Bureau of Standards (NBS) came to a number of conclusions. Firstly, the collapse of the walkways happened under the action of loads that were noticeably less than the design loads specified by the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Secondly, as constructed, the beam rod connections, the fourth floor to ceiling rods, and the third floor walkway rods did not satisfy the design requirements of the Kansas City Building Code (Marshall, 1982). Thirdly, under the original, continuous, rod arrangement, Figure 1, the beam rod connections would have had the ability to resist the loads calculated to have been acting at the time of collapse (Marshall, 1982). And lastly, it was also found that neither the quality of workmanship nor the resources used in the walkways had a major role in starting the collapse (Marshall, 1982). ... As built, however, the connection only supported 30% of the minimum load which explains why the walkways collapsed well below maximum load (Feld and Carper, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. West Coast Guard Hiss vehemently denied these claims, saying that he had never been a communist , but then was eventually found guilty. At this point, he had gone too long without being charged and could not be charged with espionage, his original charge, but he was found to be lying under oath. He was charged with perjury, and served 44 months in jail. This is one of many examples of the type of persecution present during this period. Thousands of people were convicted, and even those that were not convicted suffered setbacks and ostracism by their friends, family, co workers and employers. Many people who were even suspected of being Communist were almost immediately fired from their jobs. An example of this is the West Coast Port Security Program. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The justification behind this was that any Communist that was working with the ports was a security risk between Russia and the United States. At first, almost all of the unions of dockworkers and seamen joined in this program, because they were all anticommunist. After some time, the Coast Guard became involved in the program. The Coast Guard took over many functions that the unions had been handling by themselves when it came to this project, and this was met by growing hostility from the unions as well as the individual employers. After the involvement of the Coast Guard, many unions became angry and hostile toward the Coast Guard: There was considerable opposition on the part of the maritime unions to the original transfer of these functions to the Coast Guard and this antagonism toward the Coast Guard has not altogether abated. (Brown/Fassett). Not only did this lead to a huge invasion of privacy, nearly 3,800 seamen and dockworkers lost their jobs under the West Coast Port Security Program that had been established in the immediate aftermath of the Korean War (Schrecker). Compare And Contrast Death Camp And The Ghetto The Ghetto And The death camp In the war of World War two, life was hard when the Germans attack Denmark and was planning to liquidate the Ghetto. I will be comparing a poem to a story. The two people i ll be comparing and contrast Cristiana Chiger and Pavel Friedmann. Both people tried escape from the germans and death. Sadly the only place they could go was the sewer, but Pavel didn t make it and was sent to death camp where he started his poem. On the other hand Cristiana made it to the sewer and stayed there for multiple months. This all happen just because they were Jewish. There choice was sewers or dieng. Keep in mind that I won t just point out the simple. I am willing to dig deeper into the mine, ... or sewer in this case and find more differences. First off we can tell that there is a different person, a different gender person and different age. The places were different as well. A sewer and a death camp. To be honest I would have wanted to go to the death camp even if I would have a better chance surviving in the sewer. Cristiana story was much detailed while in the poem there s just not a lot, but we learn how much they are being torchered. This is not much because the story features torture too. Last in the differences is the help. While Pavel Friedmann is not in the sewer he not receiving any help before ... well anything I guess. In the sewer Cristiana and others received help from the sewer men who come down and up giving food for them to eat. That s the sad story and sasd poem about Cristiana and Pavel Friedmann. • 7. The Economics of the Fast Food Industry Huge Profits and Salaries for the Owners In order to best maximize their profits, the big fast food giant s created the franchise system. Tolkien s worked tirelessly to build not a single linear story throughout his LOTR series, but to build an entire world consisting of races, classes, ethnicity, language, cultures and depth to each of these categories. Scientists should not bring Woolly Mammoths back to life. It would be a waste of money, it brings less attention to animals about to go extinct, and it could hurt the ecosystem. First, bringing back extinct animals would be a waste of money. In the passage De Extinction Probably Isn t Worth it it says, Five recently extinct species would come at the cost of conversation efforts for keeping forty two animals (Zielisk, S., 2017). Role models are supposed to set an example for others to follow. I consider Oprah Winfrey a role model because she is very hardworking, humble, and giving. One reason why I consider Oprah a role model is because of how hardworking she is. For example, how she rose from poverty to great prosperity. While she used to be poor, she is now a billionaire. Also, how she continues to persevere through every task. No matter how difficult it is, she always finds a way to achieve her goal. In Kenneth Gergen s essay In Defense of Masks, he claims that people are not apt to find a specific mask to which they can be true too however, having various masks could be important because it allows people to adapt to various social groups . I disagree with Gergen s claim and counter argue that utilizing only one specific mask with whomever we interact with will help anyone live a genuine lifestyle. There are various categories that fall into masks; for instance, makeup, clothing, religion, and appearance. Many individuals acquire masks because they seek approval from others or simply because they are mimicking someone. Once someone adapts to having multiple masks, it is difficult to figure out our true identity due to the variety of personalities that are being portrayed. Improving Recall Of Declarative Memories Essay Napping: Improving Recall of Declarative Memories in Children Velo Vincent van Houden UC Berkeley Introduction Sleep has an undoubtedly profound effect on cognitive function and memory consolidation in young children. Policy makers have the ability to influence sleeping patterns in children by means of scheduling of classes and funding activities therefore research into sleeping patterns for optimal achievement is very important when considering the structure of early education. • 17. Theme Of Romanticism In My Antonia When Jim Burden initially reaches Nebraska, his descriptions of nature help the reader understand not only his personal experiences, but also the Romanticism prevalent in the book, My Antonia. This sets the reader up for the struggle and conflict between Modernism and Romanticism in the book, which is a major theme that Willa Cather utilizes in her novel. However, there is more to this Romantic description that meets the eye. On pages 12 and 13, Jim describes looking at the land while he travels to his grandparents, a passage which evokes beauty and hints towards philosophical meaning. Through this passage in the first chapter, it becomes clear that Jim s narration of the nature around him works to highlight the idea that the land is a heaven that is untouched. Like young Jim, the land is in a blank slate, which intertwines the land and Jim together. This is furthered through the progression of the land and Jim, as they progress into godlike beings. Through this progression and balance, the balance between Modernism and Romanticism is achieved, and the reader better understands the intentions of Cather, thus leading to a better understanding of the text as a whole. Jim s view of the land, and his word choice in describing the land, proves that Nebraska is a symbol for heaven. This heavenly state is important, as it shows that the land is important and highly placed. Jim explicitly states that, unlike his hometown, Nebraska was not entirely earthly in presence. Ellie Wiesel writes, ...I needed to give some meaning to my survival...I only know that without this testimony, my life as a writer or my life, period would not have become what it is: that of a witness who believes he has a moral obligation to try to prevent the enemy from enjoying one last victory by allowing his crimes to be erased from human memory (Wiesel viii). Although Wiesel s Night is an autobiographical novel, authors can also create characters that exemplify real peoples traumas and show how fictional characters overcome their grief. In The Submission, Amy Waldman tells a story of a jury who chooses a memorial design for the victims of a devastating terrorist attack on Manhattan. Along with the controversy that rises from the juries decision, we learn how characters would like to deal with their grief through the memorial. Wiesel recalls a year s worth of memories, written in detail to create images that would give the reader some insight into the traumatic events of World War II. • 26. The Importance Of The Gaia Theory Known as the Gaia Theory aptly named after the Ancient Greek primordial deity Gaia, a primal Mother Earth goddess who birthed all life in existence Lovelock argued that organisms would interact with their inorganic surroundings to form a synergistic self regulating system capable of maintaining and perpetuating the conditions necessary for life. This self regulatory system, named Gaia, results from the close coupling between organisms and their environment to create a Mother Earth that seeks a consistent physical and chemical environment optimal for nurturing life, able to resist change if necessary. For example, consider a thermostat. If a home becomes too warm or cold for comfortable living, a thermostat can be adjusted to regulate the temperature and re establish normal, comfortable heat. In the context of Gaia Theory, rather than seek to restore a pleasant temperature, the Gaia system will correct for alterations in atmospheric composition, global temperatures, ocean salinity, and other variables to re establish an environment suitable for life. Moreover, instead of a simple thermostat that begins the warming or cooling process, the natural, complex relationships between biota (living) and abiota (non living) will sense the chemical and physical shifts away from preferable levels and trigger the necessary corrective actions. Effective teachers allow students to constantly reflect on how they are doing in class and how they are meeting classroom goals. Assessment reflection ultimately influences how teachers and learners continue to access material. After teachers have tracked the data of students, it is then important that they are using a variety of instructional strategies to encourage learners to develop deep understanding of content areas. Standard 6 states that teachers should use a variety of assessments to ensure students are reaching their goals. My first piece of evidence includes three different assessments. Each assessment addresses a different kind of learner. For example, the first assessment is an exit ticket that allows me to see how students have grasped information at the end of the period. I carefully monitor both my student s reading and writing progress. In order to engage my students in their own own growth, I provide ample opportunities for students to ... • 31. Jumping The Fire Sitting around the fire we laughed at the thought. 1,000,000 dollars every year for 10 years, but you are required to hold someone s hand and stare at them while you relieve yourself in the bathroom. I lay this thought down on the table awaiting responses. Unanimously everyone said; Yes idiot you could just pay someone to do it. we all again laughed at the obscene thought of having to pay someone to sit down and hold your hands and watch you, through the involuntary hand squeezes to the noises to be made, the mere thoughts makes us exceed a mere chuckle to loud outbursts on this serene summer night. We keep telling more stories and more random questions as the night drags on. Justin how much for you to jump the fire? I question, laughing at the idea with Connor and Noah. Free, watch this. He backs up in our disbelief and full sprint hurdles the fire. oh... Wow! we exclaim in unison turning to look at one another in disbelief. This is a night of laughs, ... I back up. Flash. Skid mark. Arm swing. Jump. Spin. Hard landing. Foot slip. Second skid mark. Triumphant grin. Told ya I could do it. Flash. Burn mark. Loud noise. It s storming. We went inside. The Story ends. The night has also ended. At this time I discovered that simply taking any moment for granted could be the wrong choice. A simple night around a fire telling dumb jokes could be a night you remember your entire life. I look back and I m glad I can remember times like these. • 32. Islamic Teachings And Principles Of Isis Humom Asamarai Eng 1021.32 Final Draft 3 Poindexter Inevitable Blowback Many claim that ISIS has been created as a result of Islamic teachings and principles. This is false. Islam has existed for over 1,400 years. If the above claim had an ounce of truth to it, ISIS would have emerged long ago. Constant instability in the Middle East and the struggle for political power in the region are some, but not all of the reasons for ISIS existence. State sponsored Islamophobia and fear mongering of Muslims in America are largely contributing causes to the creation of barbaric groups such as ISIS. As a result of the tragic events that took place on 9/11, Islamophobia was born. It has been over a decade and Islamophobia is not only still existent, but it s unfortunately growing in the heart of the average American more and more each day. For this we can thank our lovely media. Muslims are being targeted at every corner. In this country, you are taught by society to fear Islam. You are led to think that it is a violent cult that preaches hate and teaches violence. The sad part is, whether Islam does any of this is still a question that is being debated. Only just recently, CNN attacked Reza Aslan during a live interview for not condemning the religion of Islam and its teachings. When he replied and defended Islam with supporting facts, they attacked him for being hostile. • 33. Analysis Of Through A Window By Jane Goodall Connections within Jane Goodall s Through a Window Throughout the term, reading the book, Through a Window by Jane Goodall has been quite intriguing for me, in that it has inspired me with new ideas and perceptions about how our own species has evolved over time. I have really enjoyed seeing the many similarities that hominids share with other primate species, especially chimpanzees. Goodall s research only further proves that we are not only extremely biologically similar to chimpanzees in our DNA, but have many behavioral similarities as well. The film, Monkey in the Mirror also shows support for our likeness in intellectuality. These documented findings on chimpanzee and human resemblances provides the strong evidence needed to conclude the fact that humans do indeed share a common ancestor with great apes. I found Goodall s chapter Mothers and Daughters very fascinating, and caught my interest the most because I immediately found myself making connections within my own life and experiences. Goodall compared the parenting styles of the two mothers, Flo, and Passion. These two chimps have completely opposite ways of raising their young, with Flo being very loving, nurturing, and caring of her daughter Fifi, while Passion was a very cold, harsh, and intolerant mother to her daughter, Pom. You can easily see the dramatic difference in how their childhood shaped the two chimpanzees in their adulthood, just how we commonly see this in humans as well. Fifi had a ... • 35. Students Overall Learning Environment And Negatively... Certain schools around the United States have researched many books that could be disruptive to students overall learning environment and negatively impact teen s transitions into adulthood. A banned book or challenged book is book that the government thinks the contents inside are wrong for the minds of the person. Some books are banned by the government or school systems due to what students are able to read. Books can be banned due to sexual reference, controversial religious viewpoints, and the use of drugs. For these reasons, schools are banning many books. Even though themes presented in books are not relative to what schools actually teach, schools may still decide to ban certain books. Stories in some banned books can show students great adventures, such as Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer, and motivate readers to live their lives while they can, which is especially relevant in today s society where technology can run people s lives. Even though Into the Wild by Jon Krakauer is considered too controversial of a book because of its anti authority and adult themes; but, the story it tells should still be taught to students because it is a valuable coming of age book for teens. Jon Krakauer was born in 1954 in Brookline, Massachusetts, and then moved to Corvallis, Oregon, when he was two years old. He is known for writing in the genre of nonfiction, and some of his major works include: Into the Wild (1996), Into Thin Air (1997), Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of ... The tittle of the article I will be analyzing is republicans seek to put abortion on the front burner in 2016 . The article was published in U.S. News and World Report, written by Tierney Sneed. Abortion is a never ending debate, it is one of the most common medical procedures performed in the United States each year. Abortion is also one of the most debated topics of all time, it is a never ending debate of whether it should be legal for women to terminate pregnancy. Some people are against abortion while others are for it. people that are against abortion also known as pro life believe that women should not have an abortion because it would be considered murder, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... While Americans long have been split on the general question of abortion though a majority do believe it should be legal in at least some circumstances, a number of polls show that a majority of voters oppose abortion after 20 weeks (Sneed). The republicans have proposed a bill that bans abortion after twenty weeks, if a person were to have an abortion after this time period it will be considered illegal and there will be consequences. If a woman was raped and got pregnant if she does not wish to have the child according to the new law being proposed, that said woman has to report the rape to the police and then she can proceed with the abortion. As stated by the article, Abortion rights supporters counter with polling that shows voters are more supportive of abortions after 20 weeks in cases of fetal abnormalities (Sneed). In some extreme cases a few people believe that abortion should be allowed after the twenty week time period has passed, for instance in situations where it s not safe for the fetus and or the mother to continue with the pregnancy, or if the baby will have some sort of birth defects. All republican presidential candidates and those considering to join the presidential candidate race are all supporting the twenty week abortion ban. Americans have been clear that they do not want politicians to interfere with their health care decisions. Meanwhile ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Animal Farm, the animals trusted they could live in peace and were guided by the standards of animalism (pg. 16).As an essential of any liberal foundation, law must be implemented to advance the peace craved. Thus, the seven commandments were organized to guide all of the animals to practice patience, control, compromise and peace (Pg. 16 17 Symbolic Interaction is the view of social behavior that emphasizes linguistic or gestural communication. • 38. Spark Engine Research Paper Each of these steps are explained below or in the Glossary. Now you are ready to start your Model T. If you have an electric starter (congratulations) the starter button will usually be on the floor by your left heel. You will want to pull the Choke/Primer knob on the dash out and press your heel on the starter button. As soon as the engine fires, let go of the Choke and take your heel off the starter button. Reach up with your right hand and pull the Throttle arm down about ½ way and at the same time with your left hand pull the Spark arm down about ⅓ to ½ way down. If the engine doesn t start, make sure you return the Spark and Throttle arms back to the beginning positions and try again. Note: If the engine is already hot you usually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First do all the items in your checklist (ABSOLUTELY SET THE SPARK ARM FULL UP). Failure to do so may jam an electric starter but with a hand crank, a possible backfire could result in serious injury to your hand or arm. If the car engine is cold, you should turn the key to the straight up position (off). Go to the front of the car and pull the Choke/Primer out (usually a small wire ring in the left lower corner of the radiator) while with your right hand, crank the engine a couple of quarter turns. You ll have to push the crank in (toward the motor) as you turn the crank and you will feel it lock into the ratchet. Now, go turn the key to the left (counterclockwise) and go back to the front of the engine. NOW WITH YOUR LEFT HAND CUPPED engage the crank again and pull the crank up. Don t push it down and don t put your thumb over the crank handle. These are safety precautions in the event the engine kicks back. If the engine doesn t catch the first time turn the crank backward (counterclockwise) and re engage the crank so you are always pulling up. Repeat this until the engine starts. If after several attempts the engine doesn t start. Go back and turn the key off and repeat the process.
