The Other Wes Moore s Life Problems
The situations that both Wes Moore s experience throughout the story The Other Wes Moore are
real life problems that people face each and every day. But what is being done to change this?
Every day people fall victim to things such as racism, assimilation, political and economic power,
and tokenism. Yet, there are ways to help people who are experiencing problems such as these. The
only thing that needs to be done is to have enough people stand up for these problems. Whether the
solutions to these problems are macro, or micro, there needs to be some sort of effort to help the
people who experience these sorts of oppressions. One major issue that the other Wes Moore s
mother experiences is not being able to get an educationdue to a lack of funding. Mary had become
pregnant at the age of 16 and was unable to continue her education. While she was just barely
providing for her familythrough side jobs the paid minimum wage, she was also trying to receive
an education by attending John Hopkins University. She was able to do this through a program
of Pell Grants. She was only able to get 16 credits done when government decided to quit funding
the Pell Grants. Mary, along with many others trying to receive a college education, was unable to
finish her education. Due to the cut in funding Mary could no longer afford it. Without being able
to receive a college education, Mary would continue to live in poverty because without an
education she would not be able to get a good job.

Basketball Team Reflection
This movie is set in 1999 and based on a true story of inspiration of how a team of basketball
players who cannot work together at all, after a true and good Coach can come together and play
very well in a basketball tournament. With a coach who believes in his team and has respect for
his team and teaching them respect to each other and themselves they strive for greatness. Teaching
values in a creative and almost abstract way to these young men to coach them not only for the
game but for the rest of their lives ahead.
It is creative because it doesn t use standard means to display and new creative ways to teach
important life lessons, this movie is based on a true story of how a man came and coached a
basketball team. In a very creative way at one stage closing the basketball gymnasium so that the
players can achieve their school grades that were signed in a contract to maintain.
This message is communicated by different methods one being a strong message of learning respect
and teaching respect. Different methods used include closing the gymnasium so that the players
can up their grades which they signed in their contracts at the beginning of the season to maintain a
certain grade so that they can accept and receive scholarships into university should the opportunity
present itself. Another method used is a strong powerful method of voice and punishment as such
by making them do a lot of physical work should they mess up, however if their team respects each

The Was The Messiah A Little Differently Than Jesus
The Jews pictured the Messiah a little differently than Jesus. Some Jews could have missed Jesus
if you had picture painted of what you thought the Messiah would be like, you might end up
passing them by. the Jews had already made up their minds of who the Messiah was going to be,
therefore, they missed who He actually was, along with the message that He brought. Now knowing
this, it s easier to understand the reasoning behind why the Jews may have denied Jesusas the
Messiah. The Messiah the jew were looking for, was the anointed one, similar to the Messiah.
Instead, they were looking for an all powerful ruler/ political leader, or king that would show up in
a fancy manor, and defeat the oppressor, have the answer to any situation,... Show more content on

7:14). He will be a Nazarene(general OT prophecy) , the Son of God(Matt. 3:17), and also be a
prophet like Moses(Deut. 18:15 19). He will be all knowing, a king, (anointed by perfume Matt.
26: 6 7)as well as Lord of the Sabbath(Matt. 12:14 15, 9:4). He will be called the ultimate
sacrifice, the light of the world, the New Covenant, greater than the prophets, law, and angels,
yet few will recognize Him when He comes. He will be the sinless, perfect sacrificial lamb, who
dies for our sake, even though we don t deserve it. He will be a servant, teacher, and mentor for
many to follow. He will be the chosen seed through the line of David, the anointed one, Christ,
and the Messiah. Even after all of this the Jewish people back in that time period still have no
clue who this man is. He even tells them that He is the Messiah, the Son of Man, yet everyone
seems to believe that He is just some prophet who showed up to do good things, or a blasphemer
that should be put to death. Even the demons know who the Son of Man is(Matt.8:28 29). Although
the people see and hear all of these things that He has done, and know in the back of their minds
that this man s coming and character has been prophesied in the Old Testament and now fulfilled
right before their eyes, they still do not see who He really is, or their hearts are just too hard to

Animal Farm, by George Orwell Essay
The main purpose of satire is to attack, and intensely criticise the target subject. This is superbly
carried out in the classic piece of satire, Animal Farm. The main targets at the brunt of this political
satire are the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, and the
leaders involved in it. George Orwell successfully condemns these targetsthrough satirical
techniques such as irony, fable, and allegory. The immediateobject of attack in Orwell s political
satire is the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolutionof 1917. The events
narrated in Animal Farm obviously and continuously refer to events in another story, the history of
the Russian Revolution. In other words, Animal... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The dogs growl and bite the way real dogs do but to support Napoleon s drive for political power.
Orwell never forgets this delicate balance between how real animals actually behave and what
human qualities his animals are supposed to represent. Let s just say Orwell hadn t used the
technique of storytelling, and had painted an objective picture of the evils he describes. The real
picture would probably be very depressing and extremely boring. So instead, he offers us a
travesty of the situation. The primary reason for this abstraction was to move readers from the
concrete reality. So whilst entertaining us through a fantastic setting, he provides us reader with a
critical vision towards his targets. It is written for entertainment, but contains sharp and telling
comments on the Russian revolution and it s leaders, offering `imaginary gardens with real toads
in them . Part of the fable s humorous charm lies in the simplicity with which the characters are
drawn. Each animal character is a type, with one human trait, or two at most traits usually
associated with that particular kind of animal. Using animals as types is also Orwell s way of
keeping his hatred and anger against exploiters under control. Instead of crying, quot; All political
bosses are vicious pigs! quot; he keeps his sense of humour by reporting calmly: quot;In future, all

Advantage And Disadvantage Of Tunneling Method
It is a type of underwater tunnel. It consists of segments which are constructed somewhere else and
are then floated at the tunnel site to be linked together. These tunnels are normally used together
with other tunnel construction methods like bored tunnel, etc. This method is commonly used for
road and rail crossings of river, sea channels/ harbors, etc. Refer Exhibit 7 for how it works
This method has many advantages:
1.Cost effective
2.Speedy construction
3.Resistant to earthquakes
4.Safety during construction
Some of the disadvantages are:
1.It would have direct contact with water hence it is important to have a careful waterproofing
design.
2.Since the tunnel is constructed in segments, utmost care needs to be taken during the design of ...

Limits the disturbance to the surrounding wall leading to production of smooth tunnel wall making
then suitable for use in highly urban areas.
2.Cost of lining the tunnel is reduced.
Its disadvantages are:
1.Construction of TBMs is really expensive.
2.It is difficult to transport TBMs
New Austrian Tunneling Method
New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM) or also called Sequential Excavation Method (SEM) has
revolutionized the tunneling industry. It is the most popular method of tunnel design and
construction. This method draws its advantage from the capability of using the geological strength
of the surrounding rock mass in stabilizing the tunnel. Refer Exhibit 9 for elements of NATM
The main principle of NATM is to monitor the performance of underground construction during
construction. It is also called as design as you go and design as you monitor approach since on the
basis of observed ground conditions, the desired action can be taken.
There are seven elements in NATM:
1.Exploitation of strength of native rock mass
2.Shotcrete protection
3.Measurement and monitoring
4.Flexible support
5.Closing of the invert
6.Contractual arrangements
7.Rock mass classification.

Empathy In The Rattler
When in times of danger, people must often take the actions they see best fit. In The Rattler, the
author depicts a vivid story of a man who has to make a difficult choice while facing a rattlesnake
in the desert. Despite the man seeing a threat in the snake, it is him that becomes a threat to the
other. By using the descriptions of the man, the snake and the specific setting, the author affects the
readerby creating a sense of empathyfor the narrator and sympathy for the snake. With such a
connection, it adds a greater depth to the story for the reader to analyze.
To begin with, the sense of empathy for the man is formed by including his point of view and a
description of his character. One of the first examples of these techniques is when he finds the
snake and states, My first instinct was to let him go his way. From this thought the reader can
tell that the man has no inclination of killing the snake at first and did not see him as any sort of
immediate threat. With the author s decision to write the passage in the first person perspective
of the man it has a crucial impact of skewing details to reflect off of his perceptions, allowing for
a better insight on the character. Another example that helps the readers empathize with the man is
when he reveals his views on a potential killing by mentioning, I have never killed an animal I was
not obliged to kill. Although all that the man says is that he will only kill an animal if necessary, by
choosing to inform the

I am worth taking up space in the compound because I have 3 skills and 3 qualities that would

You can give me any material and I will make something useful. One time I sewed together a
small bag made entirely out of Capri sun pouches. I can provide all of these blankets and clothes

skill I have is Gardening, not only do I love it, I m awesome at it! When I first learned how to

Immanuel Kant On Enlightenment
In 1784, Immanuel Kant states that Enlightenment is the human being s emergence from his self
incurred minority and the courage to utilize your own discernment.
Minority is inability to make habit of one s own understanding without guidance from another. This
minority is self incurred when its cause lies not in lack of reason but in lack of resolve and courage
to utilize it without guidance from another. Have courage to build habit of your own intellect! Is
therefore the motto of enlightenment. Kant draws a very profound argument by saying that
enlightenment may only be made through a proactive personal exploration of one s own opinions
away from the confines of social dogma.
According to Immanuel Kant, enlightenment is when a person arises

Suicide is the act of deliberately killing oneself. According to World Health Organization data most

In 19th century in Europe there is rapid increase in suicide. The case of death can be positive
action such as jumping from an upper window or negative action such as hunger strike. Durkheim
eliminates psychotic paranoid suicide because it is non sociological explanation of suicide and it is
not the result of self concise aim. The factor correlation between mental disorder and self
destruction varies considerably.
Scotland had comparatively high level of lunacy but there is low level self destruction. While
Saxony showed a low level of lunacy but a high rate of self destruction. Alcohol addiction and
substance abuse are eliminated by Durkheim (Law, 2011, p.200). Undoubtedly, race itself is
abolished as an irrational concept. In the month of summer and at temperature degrees of latitude
(50 55 degrees), there are more suicide cases because when communion is most competency
public, especially in urban areas. One of the causes of non social associated to suicide that
Durkheim examines is imitation. Durkheim differing the suicide rates among protestant and
catholic, he argues that stronger social control among catholic result in lower suicide rates.
According to Durkheim, catholic society has normal levels of integration while protestant society
has low levels. He says that suicide rates are higher in men than in women. Suicides rates are
higher among those who are not in relationship than those who are married. Because of the being
single, the women do not have children so there is more suicide case in

The Financial Sector Is A Crucial Part Of Society s...
The financial sector is a crucial part of society s critical infrastructure. Commerce drives our
daily functions in acquiring necessities as well as desires. The debate for what is a necessity
versus desire is not my point, but the reliance we have on the financial sector in order to function
is. Since the days of bartering have been replaced with a monetary system in addition to
technological advances, we have become as dependent upon the financial system as we are on
oxygen. Accumulation of wealth has always been a driving factor since the financial system s
inception. In the past, bankrobberies were the major concern as such notorious robbers as Jessie
James along with Bonnie and Clyde were infamous for their robbing sprees. However, today s
bank robberies are less likely to be done in the physical nature with advances in technology.
Malware plus Spyware are now the threat to financial securityin personal and commercial capacities.
The financial sector has experienced enormous change over the past few decades. Evaluating the
changes that have transpired over the last 40 years is amazing. Transformation of the industry
began in the 1970 s when the Federal Reserve announced the U.S. dollar was moving away from the
gold standard and has culminated today with the latest technological applications. Henceforth, the
ways financial transactions take place have forever changed (LoМЃpez, Setola, Wolthusen, 2012, p.

Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Testing
Nuclear Testing Ever since Cain murdered Abel, mankind has been a destructive force unto
itself. This is very prominent today. The war on terror has been raging on for over fifteen years.
Terrorists have used several kinds of explosives to kill their targets. However, one specific
explosive remains the fear of all nations, the Nuclear Bomb. The atomic bomb was the brain
child of Robert Oppenheimer. The first nuclear bomb was also the first used in combat. Dropped
by the United States military on Hiroshima, August 5 1945, the city was leveled and left Japan
devastated. After this attack, the world was at a race to see who could perfect the weapon.
Countries across the world had nuclear weaponry tests. One of these countries, was the United
States of America. Many of the United States nuclear tests took place in and around the Bikini
Atoll in the 1940 s, 1950 s, and 1980 s. These tests changed the lives of both the native people,
wildlife, and the once beautiful ecosystem which flourished on those Bikini Atoll islands. (http:/

airstrike codenamed Able and was carried out on July 1, 1946, merely one year after the horrific
attacks of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The second test did the opposite. Nuclear test Baker was a

Blackberry-Picking Essay
In the poem Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the narrator depicts his greed for summer s
blackberries and how that greed leads to disappointment. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by
metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be
savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has
a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil
easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for
them. The narrator also addresses the audience during the picking of the first blackberry: you ate
that first one and its flesh was sweet. By addressing us, the poem appeals to the senses.... Show

By personifying summer and the blackberries through the words flesh and blood, his metaphor
becomes accessible to a wider audience. Heaney also uses the words hoarded and cache to
further augment the value of the berries. Usually, we hoard items we find valuable in caches,
regardless of their literal worth. Heaney utilizes this philosophy to ask us what are the
blackberries we hoard. As the poem progresses the tone changes. What starts out as eagerness
and lust spirals into a mix of anger, guilt, and disappointment. Heaney initiates this change by
including a simile that alludes a British fairytale. After picking and hoarding the blackberries in
a tub, the narrator realizes his palms are sticky as Bluebeard s. The fairy tale is about a man with
a bluebeard who kills his wives and hides them in a closet to rot. His murderous tendencies remain
a secret until one of his later wives opens the locked room. Heaney is not comparing the narrator to

The Atlantic Slave Trade
Everyone has their own understanding of what slavery is, but there are misconceptions about the
history of slavery . Not many people understand how the slave trade initially began. Originally
Africa had slaves but they were servants or serfs, sometimes these people could be part of the
master s family. They could own land, rise to positions of power, and even purchase their freedom.
This changed when white captains came to Africaand offered weapons, rum, and manufactured
goods for people. African kings and merchants gave away the criminals, debtors, and prisoner from
rival tribes. The demand for cheap labor was increasing, this resulted in the forced migration of
over ten million slaves. The Atlantic Slave Tradeoccurred from 1500 to 1880 CE. This large scale
event changed the economy and histories of many places. The Atlantic Slave Trade held a great
amount of significance in the development of America. Africans shaped America by building a
solid foundation for the country.
The act of slavery was already happening in Africa prior to The Atlantic Slave Trade. The slave
trade provided no restrictions, this caused chaos in both Africa and America. Africans captured
slaves and as the demand grew getting slaves became a motivation for war. This lead to internal
conflict in Africa that can still be seen today. An article in The Abolition Project did a good job
summing up this statement, Forms of slavery existed in Africa before Europeans arrived. Some

Katniss matured hunting in the wilderness found outside District Twelve s useless electric fence.
She relied on nature to make a living, since her game fed her family and with it she was able to
trade other objects. This all changed once she was in the arena. Nature was less of a friend, and
more of an enemy. Several plants and animals were genetically manipulated so that they could
harm tributes and possibly lead to their death. Now Katniss had to find ways on how to adapt to
the new environment and use it to her advantage. Tracker jackers, are an example of this, since
Katniss used them to take the lives of two tributes in the Games. The violent and extreme
conditions she was exposed to were important to The Hunger Games because they show Katniss s
determination. In A Long Way Gone, Beah is a lover of nature. He constantly admired its beauty
and had a connection with nature, but it was slowly lost in the war. Before the war, Beah was

The Boom Of Dystopian Literature

reflecting a merge between previous books and today society conflicts. Critics determined that

America s Influence On World Music Essay
In this essay I will be talking about America s influence on World music and how World music has
an influence on American music. I will also discuss how the transistor radio effected this cross
pollination.
America had a huge influence on World music due to the influence of us giving music an actual
name. Some cultures did not even have a name for music. Through a wide range of genres,
America has been the supreme leader of modern music. America has shaped how we listen to
many genres of music, from pop to even folk. For example, punk was an American creation that
was impacting on global music trends. Such as, The Lower East Side and Velvet Underground.
While folk and punk represent one element of American influence on modern music, the greatest
influence has probably been jazz. Jazz was an art form that differed significantly from all of its
predecessors. It began the new era that was able to fuel folk, punk, hip hop and many other
groundbreaking American genres. Part of the reason for America s success in music, could be the
country s consistent output of new sounds and genres. For instance, Hip Hop took its mark on a
new American genre and now it has gained huge success around the ... Show more content on

The History of Special Education in the Twentith Century...
The History of Special Education in the Twentith Century
During the twentieth century, drastic changes were made to vastly improve the special education
system to ensure that all students, regardless of their ability, were given equal rights according to
the Constitution of the United States. During early colonial America, schooling was not mandatory
and it was primarily given to the wealthy Anglo Saxon children (Carlson, p230). Children were
mainly taught in the home or in a single room schoolhouse. Therefore, children of limited mental
capability were not likely to be schooled. Also, in a non graded schoolhouse, children of differing
abilities did not pose problems. With the beginning of mandatory education in 1852 ... Show more

In these special classrooms, a specially trained teacher would provide the instruction. As ideal as
this might sound, it is hardly what did occur. The optimism of the educators to successfully teach
the disabled students faded during the 1930 s and the 1940 s. Special education classes were held
under horrible conditions. The rooms were insufficient, with limited resources, the teachers were
poorly trained and the curriculum was inadequate. Schools also often classified students as having
disabilities when they did not. Additionally, students were often labeled with one type disability
when they had another. This practice (misclassification) (Turnbull et al p16) was a common
discrimination in American schools. One might wonder why the conditions were so deplorable.
Why were the teachers so terribly unqualified? It appears that the common perception of the
disabled students was like that of Quasimodo, in Victor Hugo s The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
They were misunderstood, and considered to be monstrous something to be hidden away,
shunned and rejected by normal people. The public s attitude with disabled children was one of
fear, as if the disability was somehow contagious. They were looked upon as crazy people. This
general outlook set the standard for educating students with special needs. They were classified as
inferior, so why should the school system bother to work with the retards ? The mind set was that

Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States
The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be
required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the
idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the
United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address
the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual
because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in
order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after
the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set
by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it
changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that
our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality
of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than
human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that
everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of
this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. For future interpretation of this facet of our
constitution, the cruel and

Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music
Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history
music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their
commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray
the same message, and this is not a coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting
police brutality and the injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the
audience can see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much
racism going on today. Joey s song, Temptations, explores the issue of racial equality and the
struggle of being black in America. Growing up in a poor neighborhood not having your rent on
time because your mom works a nine to five job that s just enough to make a living as a result of
how the government has set up the average person to be, I really came up from the bottom

how young men are killing one another, and figure that is the way to go about things because of
culture but fail to really see what they are doing as well as who they are hurting. He also mentions
how people make an example out of killing someone rather than spreading positivity and leaves

only with her mom and dad.
Amy walks out to the kitchen and is greeted by her parents. Good morning Amy! her mom and dad

and sat down. Her mom placed a plate of pancakes in front of her. he instantly started to eat them.
When Amy ate, she looked out at the stars admiring how beautiful they were. You can be in space
for ten years and never get sick of them. After she ate, she walked over to the living room to watch

No way Amy! You have schoolto do! Amy s mom yelled. Even though they lived in space, Amy

Effects Of The Wright Brothers
Exoskeletons: From Arachnid To Human Humans have always had the ability to observe the ways
of the world and then figure out how to improve our living with them. For example, Leonardo da
Vinci, the Wright brothers and others watched birds and their patterns until they figured out a way
to make pieces and parts into a flying machine. Their research has now become airplanes, and
aircraft carriers. By simply seeing the world, they figured out a way to better human transportation.
Since the beginning of time, humans have been flawed. Whether the flaws are internal like mental
disabilities, or external like paraplegia, they have always existed. Sometimes people are born with
these disabilities, other times they develop. Either way, we, as humans have one thing that we
want to do: fix the problem at hand. The Wright brothers are a wonderful example of this. They
wanted to change the way humans traveled from place A to place B, thus they found a solution.
Scientists from all around the world have been working on how to make hemiplegia, paraplegia and
quadriplegiamanageable. With this thought in mind, scientists looked to arachnids, lobsters, crabs,
and other creatures with exoskeletons. They marveled at the outer skeleton and wondered how they
could use that idea to help the disabled. Their idea was to have something support and control the
movement outside the body instead of the inside. If the body itself isn t able to work properly, then

Alfred Hitchcock Rear Window Essay
Alfred Hitchcock s Rear Window is a voyeuristic point of view (POV) style of filming. The point
of view captures the intimate details of the neighbors lives through the view of Jimmy Stewarts
character L. B. Jefferies (Jeff). Hitchcock set the tone for movies of the POV style. There are
many films today that have used the same POV techniques, such as 2007 s Disturbia, directed by
D.J. Caruso, who was inspired by Rear Window. Although the setting are different, Disturbia
gives the audience the view from the aspect of a teenager, Kale Brecht (Shia LaBeouf), who
under house arrest starts spying on his neighbors. When one night he watches his neighbor

Rear Window, I felt for its time was somewhat risquГ© for its time period. The suggestion of

I Read My Favorite Book
Ever since I was little, I have always loved to read. If I liked a book, I would read it until I could
barely keep my eyes open. However, I have never fallen asleep while reading a book I enjoyed. The
first book I ever read was Ten Apples Up on Top by Dr. Suess and this book continues to be my
favorite book by him. Other books I read when I was younger included the Five Little Monkeys
books and later Junie B. Jones. The Five Little Monkeys books were enjoyable to me and I
remember having this one amazing, indescribable feeling of joy while reading these books.
Contrastingly, the Junie B. Jones book about the monster under her bed made me extra worried
about monsters under my bed. When I was a little bit older, I read a book called The Mysterious
Benedict Society, which was a long chapter book, unlike the Junie B. Jones books. The
Mysterious Benedict Society is about a group of intelligent kids with different special talents that
the Society uses to help save kids who are being mind controlled at a boarding school. Speaking of
boarding schools, I also read the Harry Potterbooks when I was in Elementary School. My mom
used to try to read the first book to me, but we would forget to keep reading it. Eventually, my
sister read the books, so we watched the movies as she read the series. After a while, though, my
parents told me that I was not allowed to watch any more of the movies until I had read the books,
so I decided to read the books and enjoyed them more than I expected

Sanchi Team Reflection

celebrates group achievements.
Working as a team pays off handsomely for him. As they say, Two heads are better than one. Each
person has a limited set of skills and a finite knowledge base. A group need others help (and unique

Young workers may have different work environment values than more established workers. The
distinction in values isn t really the reason for employee dissonance ,but the inability to
acknowledge the difference is. At the point when representatives neglect to acknowledge the
differences, co workers may offend each other s characters. At the point when insults happen, the
contention escalates until the point that the correct arrangement is offered and acknowledged.
Competition
Unhealthy work environment and rivalry is a reason for worker strife. Rivalry that isn t
appropriately overseen can bring about representatives disrupting or offending each other, which
makes an antagonistic workplace. Undesirable work environment rivalry debilitates teamwork and
promotes working independently.
Therefore, its natural to have such differences and conflicts of opinion at a work place but its all
about bridging the generational gap and finding a common interest and working things out.

The Awakening By Edna Is A Symbol Of Hope For Women
In today s society, all across the globe, women are treated as less than men. Despite how far our
society has come, we still have much more to conquer. On average, men make 30% more money
on their paychecks and are often treated like they deserve more than their counterparts. In The
Awakening, Edna is a representation of women as a whole, as she is not treated with the respect a
womandeserves. She is overlooked and ignored by her husband, which leads her to doing some
questionable things. Ednais then looked at as the bad person in the relationship even though she
was the one being pushed around in the situation. Specifically, Edna represents women s
mistreatment throughout time, but her character also shows how this slave like treatment has led
women to have a lack of individualism. In addition, Edna is a symbol of hope for women in the
future. Edna shows that women don t always have to listen to men, as amazing things can happen
if a woman listens to herself. Edna s portrayal as a female character who is often mistreated reveals
that women throughout time have been forced to conform to man s opinion, thus leading to a lack
of individualism. When in fact women should be listening to themselves and not second guessing
their beliefs.
Despite how far our society has come in treating women as equals to men, we still have many more

Five Pillars Of Islam And Islam
Five Pillars of Islam All great things are built on a solid and strong foundation. The religion of
Islam is no different. The foundation on which Islam was built is known as The Five Pillars of
Islam. These are the essential duties that are required of all Muslims. The pillars are the shahadah
(declaration of faith), salah (establishment of the five ritual prayers), zakah (almsgiving), sawm
(fasting the month of Ramadan), and hajj (pilgrimage to the holy city of Mecca). These five pillars
are in the central religious text of Islam, the Qur an, and are presented as the framework for
worship and a sign of commitment to faith (Esposito, Pillars of Islam ). The pillars are often
compared to a creed such as those seen in Christianity. While the two are similar in regards to the
first pillar, they differ in that the five pillars of Islamare acts or practices that Muslims must perform
while a creed, as defined by Merriam Webster dictionary, is a brief authoritative formula of
religious belief. Shahadah, salah, zakah, sawm, and hajj are the five obligations all Muslims have
to satisfy to live a respectable life according to Islam. They are the framework and foundation of a
Muslim s life. The first pillar, shahadah, is the declaration of faith. La ilaha illa Allah wa
Muhammadrasul Allah . This translates to There is no god but Allah and Muhammad is the prophet
of Allah. This is the shahadah. All faithful Muslims recite this and one must recite this sincerely,

Hinduism
Hinduism cannot be described as an organized religion. One individual did not found Hinduism.
Hinduism is God centered and therefore one can call Hinduism as founded by God. Hinduism is
based upon Eternal Principles. If a great scientist like Einstein discovered or realized laws of

not confined to any one age or country. Self realized persons like Jesus Christ would be called

The Om is to Hindus As the cross is to Christians. It is made up of three Sanskrit letters, aa, au
and ma which, when combined, make the sound Aum or Om. The most important symbol in
Hinduism, it occurs in every prayer and invocation to most deities begins with it. As the symbol
of piety, Om is often found at the head of letters, pendants, enshrined in every Hindu temple and
family shrines. This symbol is actually a sacred syllable representing the Brahman or the Absolute
the source of all existence. Brahman, in itself, is incomprehensible so a symbol becomes
mandatory to help us realize the Unknowable. The syllable Om occurs even in English words
having a similar meaning, for instance, omniscience , omnipotent , omnipresent . Thus Om is also
used to signify divinity and authority. Its similarity with the Latin M as also to the Greek letter
Omega is discernable. Even the word Amen used by Christians to conclude a prayer seems to be
akin to Om.

factors other than wind turbines are as follows: flying into power lines (an estimated death

О”= mx22EI+c1x+c2
Now we work out the values for c1 and c2, we do this by looking at the boundary conditions. These
are:
1. x=0, О”=0
2. x=l, О”=0
Using the first set of conditions we realise that: c2=0 Using the second set of condition we realise
that: c1=ml2EI Subbing these into the full equation, we get:
О”= mx22EI+mlx2EI
Finally, we want to measure the deflection at a point where it is a maximum. Because this is a
symmetrically loaded beam, the point where max deflection occurs is at the centre, where x=l/2.
Subbing this into the equation we get:
О”= ml28EI+ml24EI
When calculating the experimental axial stress, we used the formula: Пѓaxial=E1
ОЅ2Г—Оµax+ОЅ.Оµtr When calculating Оµx, Оµy and П„xy using the rosette strain gauges, we
use the following set of simultaneous equations: Оµ1=
ОµxcosО±2+ОµysinО±2+П„xysinО±cosО± Оµ2= ОµxcosОІ2+ОµysinОІ2+П„xysinОІcosОІ
Оµ3= ОµxcosП•2+ОµysinП•2+П„xysinП•cosП•
Where Оµ1, Оµ2 and Оµ3 are the measurements from the rosette gauges and О±, ОІ and П• are the
angles each strain gauge makes to the axis of the beam.
When analyzing the mohr circle, we used an equation to calculate the centre of the circle, and an
equation to calculate the radius of the circle. Here they are: c=Оµx+Оµy2 for the centre and :
r=(Оµx+Оµy)22+П„xy22 for the radius of the circle.
Method and Rig
We used a rig which consisted of a beam which is symmetrically and simply supported on each
side. The 5 strain gauges were an

Safe Flood Evacuation Plan.
Zubaidah Sabree
EM 505: FOUNDATIONS OF EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
Today the greater Birmingham area has been issued a weather service announcement notice stating
that a sever flood is approaching the area. Birmingham is considered one of the most popular areas
in Alabama we should assume that there is high traffic in the area. Also, exits routes should be set
up in the event of departure. The News may also inform the citizens to have an evacuation route
first aid kit and the necessary supplies to survive for at least three day away from home. Purpose
The purpose of this paper is to show that I have clear understanding of how to properly respond in
a disaster. Also, for the purpose of this paper the citizens must be informed of a plan that will
hopeful lead them to a safe risk management plan. The point is to eliminate the potential risk factor

Also the ability to find temporary shelter is one of the responsibilities I have to take under
consideration when planning and organizing the evacuation process after a disaster. The American
Red Cross, the organization has shelters set up across the emergency route as and they have the
resources to accommodate all persons looking for safe and sufficient refuge they also make
available food and medication to families that have evacuated from the flood. Lastly, returning
home will be very difficult because there is a chance that once we return home environment will
be the same therefore keeping my family safe in all aspects not just the evacuation stage but the
all stages to keep my family protected and out of risk. Keeping my family out of harm s way will
be proven to be a good idea when it comes to rebuilding the community because families are
considered as a main component of the whole community (NRF

Electrospinning Essay
Electrospinning is a convenient method for fabricating various nanofibrous scaffolds for
biomedical applications. In electrospinning process, a conductive collector device plays a critical
role in determining the shape and the structure of the nanofibrous scaffold; however, the
preparation of the collector is often complex. In this study, a novel, flexible, and inexpensive
approach based on pencil on paper method was developed for preparing collectors used in
electrospinning. Graphiteis a conductive material widely used as a component in the pencil core. A
series of collectors were prepared through drawing different patterns on folded and unfolded paper
using a pencil, followed by successfully fabricating two dimensional (2D) nanofibrous... Show more

We believe that the method developed in this study would provide a convenient approach to
fabricate complex collectors for producing ordered 2D or 3D nanofibrous structures.
2. Materials and methods
2.1. Electrospinning
The collector was fabricated using a common 5B pencil and A4 paper. Paper was tailored to
suitable size, and different patterns were drawn using a pencil. Subsequently, the paper was folded
in different shapes as collectors. Poly (Оµ caprolactone) (PCL, MW = 60,000) was dissolved in
dichloromethane/ethanol (v:v =3:1) to form a homogeneous solution with a concentration of 15
wt%, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP, MW = 1,300,000) was dissolved in ethanol at a
concentration of 8 wt%. After that, the solution was transferred to a syringe fastened on an
infusion pump. The solution was pumped at a rate of 0.5 mL/h. 8 kV voltage was applied
between the needle and the collecter placed 10 cm away to form an electrospinning jet. The
collectors and fibers were observed using a camera (Nikon, Japan) and scanning electron
microscopy (SEM) (JSM 7011F, Japan).
2.2. Cell experiment
Murine calvarial preosteoblasts (MC3T3 E1) were selected as the model cell to evaluate the
cytotoxicity of the electrospun fibers. The nanofibrous membranes and films after sterilization
under UV radiation were cut into small pieces, placed in a cell culture plate, and soaked in the
culture medium (DMEM/F 12

Memorial University Application Essay Sample
Many of my studies have focused on subject matter relevant to the teachings of the faculty at
Memorial University such as the topics of climate change, the geology of coastal landscapes,
oceanography, cartography, global positioning systems, remote sensing, and geographic
information systems. I hold an affinity of interests toward technology used for geospatial data
acquisition such as ERDAS Image and ArcGIS. Map making is a big interest of mine. Recently, I
have spent many long hours designing maps with various software including Adobe Illustrator,
ERDAS Imagine, and ArcGIS that were largely enjoyed. When I graduate from San Francisco State
University in Spring, I will have fulfilled degree elective requirements for both resource
management and geographic analysis techniques.
I am environmentally conscious and have an enormous interest in studying sustainability (reduce,
reuse, recycle). A geographer can survey the world to discover what resources are being used and
with what frequency, how the use of the resources impacts the environment in a negative or
positive way, how to manage environmental impacts, and what action can be taken to preserve
resources for as long as ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John s harbor about the fact that there wasn t always a sewage treatment plant there, despite the
fishery; this was a subject that fascinated me and sparked my curiosity. While searching for
graduate schools to apply to, I came across Memorial University without remembering the name
of St. John s and became very interested in the program offered. A few weeks ago, it suddenly
dawned on me that the two places are the same place. My heart settled. I like what I have heard
about St. John s of Labrador and Newfoundland and will be comfortable moving there to study.
Initially, after having researched the Department of Geography faculty members, the thesis subject I
desired to pursue was the spatial distribution and impact of weather systems in the vicinity of St.

Rhetorical Devices In The Crisis No 1 Thomas Paine
In 1776, an important event was happening in the United States, the Revolutionary war. The
thirteen colonies wanted to break away from Britain s rule, however the chances of winning
were very slim. For this reason, 1/3 of the citizens were for a revolution, 1/3 of the citizens were
against it, and 1/3 of them were undecided. Thomas Paine realized that to become a free and
independent nation, he would need the help of every citizen in the colonies. Because of this he
wrote The Crisis No. 1 to increase the morale of the people, so that they would fight against
Britain in the war. In The Crisis No. 1 Thomas Paine effectively used rhetorical devices to convince
people to fight in the revolutionary war. Thomas Paine begins by alluding to the Declaratory

Summary Of The Blizzard, The Painted Door And Locket s Tale
We ve read a lot of short stories about Canada in recent months and I really enjoyed to read them.
We read The Blizzard, The Painted Door and The Locket. They are all sad stories that happened
in the cold Canadian winter. These are stories that show people s psychological conflicts, the
separation of joys and sorrows, and these things happen in the past, so they are all stories about
memories. There is always someone dying in the cold winter. These stories have the same almost
setting, including location selection and season selection, although the roles were different. related
them to My Grandfather s House, you will find that, they all about memories and these stories were

The Most Memorable Moment That Changed My Life
I was born into a prestigious family who has raised me to have proper etiquette , show respect,
and have chivalrous qualities. Throughout my life, I was always viewed as the child of god, the
boy that never lies, the one who would never do that , that s not like him. On the contrary, the
truth is that nobody is perfect nor innocent, including myself. People such as myself receive
judgements such as these periodically due to the fact that we have learned how to keep our
personal lives private. For this reason, for people such as myself, we have difficulties expressing
ourselves. This is just a glimpse of my background so you could have a better understanding of
my point of view . The most memorable moment that has changed my perspective in life was
when I had to move from Upstate New York to Connecticut (CT). I moved in 2014 with my sister
to my half brother s house. It all started in the summer when my sister and I went to go visit my
half brother in CT. When we arrived, that part of the familywelcomed us in a way in which no one
from my mother s side of the family has ever done before. That alone made me feel special; as if
I was actually loved by my father s side of the family. Therefore, we spent some time with them.
We also went to six flags which, quite frankly, was the highlight of the year. We had a blast until
my father came up with the idea of sending my sister to CT. He wanted to do this because she was
hanging out with people that had bad habits such as

The Pros And Cons Of Censorship
As technology advances so to do the laws and rules that help guide engineers and companies to
behave in ways which are not only legal, but also fair to others. Millions of devices these days,
large and small, have the ability to allow a user to view printed materials, listen to radio, and
watch television. The rules that governed the printed format do not necessarily apply to the digital
realm and not many lawmakers know where to apply them. The FCC has censorship over what
may be broadcast however they have little control over what kind of content can be streamed over
someone s desktop computer. Copyrightlaws get brought into question in regards to being misused
or being infringed upon. This has become an increasingly big problem since the... Show more

Since the modified games used in the district court were produced by an employee of the Sega
hardware and development department, whom was very familiar with the TMSS and its code.
(cite) This means that the Sega employee would have known of a way to work around the
TMSS code whereas those unfamiliar with the TMSS code would have had no way of knowing
how it functions and operates. The Ninth Circuit Court reversed the district court s orders and
ruled in favor of Accolade. The use of reverse engineering was protected under fair use and the
alleged violation of the Sega trademark was the fault of Sega. The settlement was handled by
both parties apparently satisfied with the results and any monetary amounts made between the
two were never disclosed to the public. Both parties handled their own court costs when all was
said and done. Accolade was also given official licensing by Sega without exclusivity, and
Accolade later developed and released the game Barkley Shut Up and Jam! while under the
license. As proof of not being held to exclusive rights with Sega, Barkley Shut Up and Jam! was
also released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment

Now knowing this, it s easier to understand the reasoning behind why the Jews may have denied Jesusas the Messiah. The Messiah the jew were looking for, was the anointed one, similar to the Messiah. Even the demons know who the Son of Man is(Matt.8:28 29). Although the people see and hear all of these things that He has done, and know in the back of their minds that this man s coming and character has been prophesied in the Old Testament and now fulfilled right before their eyes, they still do not see who He really is, or their hearts are just too hard to take in the truth. • 6. Animal Farm, by George Orwell Essay The main purpose of satire is to attack, and intensely criticise the target subject. This is superbly carried out in the classic piece of satire, Animal Farm. The main targets at the brunt of this political satire are the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917, and the leaders involved in it. George Orwell successfully condemns these targetsthrough satirical techniques such as irony, fable, and allegory. The immediateobject of attack in Orwell s political satire is the society that was created in Russia after the Bolshevik Revolutionof 1917. Orwell never forgets this delicate balance between how real animals actually behave and what human qualities his animals are supposed to represent. Let s just say Orwell hadn t used the technique of storytelling, and had painted an objective picture of the evils he describes. The real picture would probably be very depressing and extremely boring. So instead, he offers us a travesty of the situation. The primary reason for this abstraction was to move readers from the concrete reality. So whilst entertaining us through a fantastic setting, he provides us reader with a critical vision towards his targets. It is written for entertainment, but contains sharp and telling comments on the Russian revolution and it s leaders, offering `imaginary gardens with real toads in them . Part of the fable s humorous charm lies in the simplicity with which the characters are drawn. Each animal character is a type, with one human trait, or two at most traits usually associated with that particular kind of animal. Using animals as types is also Orwell s way of keeping his hatred and anger against exploiters under control. • 8. Empathy In The Rattler When in times of danger, people must often take the actions they see best fit. In The Rattler, the author depicts a vivid story of a man who has to make a difficult choice while facing a rattlesnake in the desert. Despite the man seeing a threat in the snake, it is him that becomes a threat to the other. By using the descriptions of the man, the snake and the specific setting, the author affects the readerby creating a sense of empathyfor the narrator and sympathy for the snake. With such a connection, it adds a greater depth to the story for the reader to analyze. To begin with, the sense of empathy for the man is formed by including his point of view and a description of his character. One of the first examples of these techniques is when he finds the snake and states, My first instinct was to let him go his way. From this thought the reader can tell that the man has no inclination of killing the snake at first and did not see him as any sort of immediate threat. With the author s decision to write the passage in the first person perspective of the man it has a crucial impact of skewing details to reflect off of his perceptions, allowing for a better insight on the character. Another example that helps the readers empathize with the man is when he reveals his views on a potential killing by mentioning, I have never killed an animal I was not obliged to kill. Although all that the man says is that he will only kill an animal if necessary, by choosing to inform the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Commerce drives our daily functions in acquiring necessities as well as desires. The debate for what is a necessity versus desire is not my point, but the reliance we have on the financial sector in order to function is. Since the days of bartering have been replaced with a monetary system in addition to technological advances, we have become as dependent upon the financial system as we are on oxygen. Accumulation of wealth has always been a driving factor since the financial system s inception. In the past, bankrobberies were the major concern as such notorious robbers as Jessie James along with Bonnie and Clyde were infamous for their robbing sprees. However, today s bank robberies are less likely to be done in the physical nature with advances in technology. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for them. • 21. America s Influence On World Music Essay In this essay I will be talking about America s influence on World music and how World music has an influence on American music. I will also discuss how the transistor radio effected this cross pollination. America had a huge influence on World music due to the influence of us giving music an actual name. Some cultures did not even have a name for music. Through a wide range of genres, America has been the supreme leader of modern music. America has shaped how we listen to many genres of music, from pop to even folk. For example, punk was an American creation that was impacting on global music trends. Such as, The Lower East Side and Velvet Underground. While folk and punk represent one element of American influence on modern music, the greatest influence has probably been jazz. The History of Special Education in the Twentith Century During the twentieth century, drastic changes were made to vastly improve the special education system to ensure that all students, regardless of their ability, were given equal rights according to the Constitution of the United States. During early colonial America, schooling was not mandatory and it was primarily given to the wealthy Anglo Saxon children (Carlson, p230). Children were mainly taught in the home or in a single room schoolhouse. Therefore, children of limited mental capability were not likely to be schooled. Also, in a non graded schoolhouse, children of differing abilities did not pose problems. With the beginning of mandatory education in 1852 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In these special classrooms, a specially trained teacher would provide the instruction. As ideal as this might sound, it is hardly what did occur. The optimism of the educators to successfully teach the disabled students faded during the 1930 s and the 1940 s. Special education classes were held under horrible conditions. The rooms were insufficient, with limited resources, the teachers were poorly trained and the curriculum was inadequate. Schools also often classified students as having disabilities when they did not. Additionally, students were often labeled with one type disability when they had another. This practice (misclassification) (Turnbull et al p16) was a common discrimination in American schools. One might wonder why the conditions were so deplorable. Why were the teachers so terribly unqualified? It appears that the common perception of the disabled students was like that of Quasimodo, in Victor Hugo s The Hunchback of Notre Dame. They were misunderstood, and considered to be monstrous something to be hidden away, shunned and rejected by normal people. The public s attitude with disabled children was one of fear, as if the disability was somehow contagious. They were looked upon as crazy people. This general outlook set the standard for educating students with special needs. They were classified as inferior, so why should the school system bother to work with the retards ? The mind set was that these students ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. Cruel And Unusual Punishment In The United States The 8th amendment of the United States Constitution states that excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. Specifically, the idea of cruel and unusual punishment has been a topic of dispute since its inception. Although the United States practiced execution as a punishment beforehand, the Supreme Court did not address the death penalty issue until 1972. It is often debated how we are to define cruel and unusual because of the vague nature of the terms. Because it is thought that the terms were kept vague in order to keep up with new forms of cruel and unusual punishment that would come into being after the constitution was written, the standards for determining what is cruel and unusual has been set by evolving standards of decency that mark the progress of a maturing society meaning that it changes depending on what our society deems decent or indecent at the time. The problem is that our society has always been split on this issue. Whether it involves the death penalty or the quality of prisoner confinement, some hold the opinion that these people deserve to be treated as less than human because of the crimes they have committed. Others vehemently disagree saying that everyone, no matter what they ve done, deserves to be treated as humanely as possible. Those of this opinion are generally opposed to the death penalty. • 24. Music Essay On Music And The Power Of Music Song Essay The power of music is as strong today as it has ever been before. Throughout history music has been a way for our people to speak out against the government or follow their commands. There is a great irony that a lot of these songs nowadays all tie together to portray the same message, and this is not a coincidence. Today, hip hop has taken the lead in protesting police brutality and the injustices suffered by the poor. Within the selection of songs, the audience can see how the government tries to control us, as well as how there is still much racism going on today. Joey s song, Temptations, explores the issue of racial equality and the struggle of being black in America. Growing up in a poor neighborhood not having your rent on time because your mom works a nine to five job that s just enough to make a living as a result of how the government has set up the average person to be, I really came up from the bottom / Strugglin , my momma on her last dollar / Hustling man I ve been putting in these hours / The government been trying to take away what s ours (line 18 21). In this song, Badmon describes how young men are killing one another, and figure that is the way to go about things because of culture but fail to really see what they are doing as well as who they are hurting. He also mentions how people make an example out of killing someone rather than spreading positivity and leaves you with the question of are you willing to make the sacrifice, to make a ... • 26. Effects Of The Wright Brothers Exoskeletons: From Arachnid To Human Humans have always had the ability to observe the ways of the world and then figure out how to improve our living with them. For example, Leonardo da Vinci, the Wright brothers and others watched birds and their patterns until they figured out a way to make pieces and parts into a flying machine. Their research has now become airplanes, and aircraft carriers. By simply seeing the world, they figured out a way to better human transportation. Since the beginning of time, humans have been flawed. Whether the flaws are internal like mental disabilities, or external like paraplegia, they have always existed. Sometimes people are born with these disabilities, other times they develop. Either way, we, as humans have one thing that we want to do: fix the problem at hand. The Wright brothers are a wonderful example of this. They wanted to change the way humans traveled from place A to place B, thus they found a solution. Scientists from all around the world have been working on how to make hemiplegia, paraplegia and quadriplegiamanageable. With this thought in mind, scientists looked to arachnids, lobsters, crabs, and other creatures with exoskeletons. They marveled at the outer skeleton and wondered how they could use that idea to help the disabled. The American Red Cross, the organization has shelters set up across the emergency route as and they have the resources to accommodate all persons looking for safe and sufficient refuge they also make available food and medication to families that have evacuated from the flood. Lastly, returning home will be very difficult because there is a chance that once we return home environment will be the same therefore keeping my family safe in all aspects not just the evacuation stage but the all stages to keep my family protected and out of risk. Keeping my family out of harm s way will be proven to be a good idea when it comes to rebuilding the community because families are considered as a main component of the whole community (NRF ... • 42. Electrospinning Essay Electrospinning is a convenient method for fabricating various nanofibrous scaffolds for biomedical applications. In electrospinning process, a conductive collector device plays a critical role in determining the shape and the structure of the nanofibrous scaffold; however, the preparation of the collector is often complex. In this study, a novel, flexible, and inexpensive approach based on pencil on paper method was developed for preparing collectors used in electrospinning. Graphiteis a conductive material widely used as a component in the pencil core. A series of collectors were prepared through drawing different patterns on folded and unfolded paper using a pencil, followed by successfully fabricating two dimensional (2D) nanofibrous... We believe that the method developed in this study would provide a convenient approach to fabricate complex collectors for producing ordered 2D or 3D nanofibrous structures. 2. Materials and methods 2.1. Electrospinning The collector was fabricated using a common 5B pencil and A4 paper. Paper was tailored to suitable size, and different patterns were drawn using a pencil. Subsequently, the paper was folded in different shapes as collectors. Poly (Оµ caprolactone) (PCL, MW = 60,000) was dissolved in dichloromethane/ethanol (v:v =3:1) to form a homogeneous solution with a concentration of 15 wt%, and polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP, MW = 1,300,000) was dissolved in ethanol at a concentration of 8 wt%. After that, the solution was transferred to a syringe fastened on an infusion pump. The solution was pumped at a rate of 0.5 mL/h. 8 kV voltage was applied between the needle and the collecter placed 10 cm away to form an electrospinning jet. The collectors and fibers were observed using a camera (Nikon, Japan) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) (JSM 7011F, Japan). 2.2. Cell experiment Murine calvarial preosteoblasts (MC3T3 E1) were selected as the model cell to evaluate the cytotoxicity of the electrospun fibers. The nanofibrous membranes and films after sterilization under UV radiation were cut into small pieces, placed in a cell culture plate, and soaked in the culture medium (DMEM/F 12 ... • 43. Memorial University Application Essay Sample Many of my studies have focused on subject matter relevant to the teachings of the faculty at Memorial University such as the topics of climate change, the geology of coastal landscapes, oceanography, cartography, global positioning systems, remote sensing, and geographic information systems. I hold an affinity of interests toward technology used for geospatial data acquisition such as ERDAS Image and ArcGIS. Map making is a big interest of mine. Recently, I have spent many long hours designing maps with various software including Adobe Illustrator, ERDAS Imagine, and ArcGIS that were largely enjoyed. When I graduate from San Francisco State University in Spring, I will have fulfilled degree elective requirements for both resource management and geographic analysis techniques. I am environmentally conscious and have an enormous interest in studying sustainability (reduce, reuse, recycle). A geographer can survey the world to discover what resources are being used and with what frequency, how the use of the resources impacts the environment in a negative or positive way, how to manage environmental impacts, and what action can be taken to preserve resources for as long as ... John s harbor about the fact that there wasn t always a sewage treatment plant there, despite the fishery; this was a subject that fascinated me and sparked my curiosity. While searching for graduate schools to apply to, I came across Memorial University without remembering the name of St. John s and became very interested in the program offered. A few weeks ago, it suddenly dawned on me that the two places are the same place. My heart settled. I like what I have heard about St. John s of Labrador and Newfoundland and will be comfortable moving there to study. Initially, after having researched the Department of Geography faculty members, the thesis subject I desired to pursue was the spatial distribution and impact of weather systems in the vicinity of St. ... • 44. Rhetorical Devices In The Crisis No 1 Thomas Paine In 1776, an important event was happening in the United States, the Revolutionary war. The thirteen colonies wanted to break away from Britain s rule, however the chances of winning were very slim. For this reason, 1/3 of the citizens were for a revolution, 1/3 of the citizens were against it, and 1/3 of them were undecided. Thomas Paine realized that to become a free and independent nation, he would need the help of every citizen in the colonies. Because of this he wrote The Crisis No. 1 to increase the morale of the people, so that they would fight against Britain in the war. In The Crisis No. 1 Thomas Paine effectively used rhetorical devices to convince people to fight in the revolutionary war. Thomas Paine begins by alluding to the Declaratory ... • 46. The Most Memorable Moment That Changed My Life I was born into a prestigious family who has raised me to have proper etiquette , show respect, and have chivalrous qualities. Throughout my life, I was always viewed as the child of god, the boy that never lies, the one who would never do that , that s not like him. On the contrary, the truth is that nobody is perfect nor innocent, including myself. People such as myself receive judgements such as these periodically due to the fact that we have learned how to keep our personal lives private. For this reason, for people such as myself, we have difficulties expressing ourselves. This is just a glimpse of my background so you could have a better understanding of my point of view . The most memorable moment that has changed my perspective in life was when I had to move from Upstate New York to Connecticut (CT). I moved in 2014 with my sister to my half brother s house. It all started in the summer when my sister and I went to go visit my half brother in CT. When we arrived, that part of the familywelcomed us in a way in which no one from my mother s side of the family has ever done before. That alone made me feel special; as if I was actually loved by my father s side of the family. Therefore, we spent some time with them. We also went to six flags which, quite frankly, was the highlight of the year. We had a blast until my father came up with the idea of sending my sister to CT. He wanted to do this because she was hanging out with people that had bad habits such as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 47. The Pros And Cons Of Censorship As technology advances so to do the laws and rules that help guide engineers and companies to behave in ways which are not only legal, but also fair to others. Millions of devices these days, large and small, have the ability to allow a user to view printed materials, listen to radio, and watch television. The rules that governed the printed format do not necessarily apply to the digital realm and not many lawmakers know where to apply them. The FCC has censorship over what may be broadcast however they have little control over what kind of content can be streamed over someone s desktop computer. Since the modified games used in the district court were produced by an employee of the Sega hardware and development department, whom was very familiar with the TMSS and its code. (cite) This means that the Sega employee would have known of a way to work around the TMSS code whereas those unfamiliar with the TMSS code would have had no way of knowing how it functions and operates. The Ninth Circuit Court reversed the district court s orders and ruled in favor of Accolade. The use of reverse engineering was protected under fair use and the alleged violation of the Sega trademark was the fault of Sega. The settlement was handled by both parties apparently satisfied with the results and any monetary amounts made between the two were never disclosed to the public. Both parties handled their own court costs when all was said and done. Accolade was also given official licensing by Sega without exclusivity, and Accolade later developed and released the game Barkley Shut Up and Jam! while under the license. As proof of not being held to exclusive rights with Sega, Barkley Shut Up and Jam! was also released on the Super Nintendo Entertainment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
