As a Mexican American, Du Bois quote, What after all, am I? Am I an American or
am I Negro? Can I be both? (1897) is something I have personally struggled with all
my life. This question can be answered in two different time periods. To Du Bois the
ideal, what Negroes should strive for, would be to be both. But in his time this was
impossible due to institutionalized and taught racism. Today I feel like it is possible to

in his book The Souls of Black Folk, that the gap between being black and

whether rich or poor, people who give to charity are happier. Perceived happiness
increases, even more, when we see the impact of our gift has on someone.
According to Tony Robbins, writer at Robbins Research Organization, Inc.
Michael Norton, the TED Talk speaker, discussed How to Buy Happiness. Norton is a
professor of business administration at Harvard Business School; he has also studied
psychology. Furthermore, Norton did research on whether spending money on
oneself or on others can make a person happy. According to him, people who spend
money on others are happier than those who spend money on themselves. He wanted
to convince his audience that happiness is in sharing or giving to others. First, he
gained the attention of his public by starting his speech with humor. Similarly, he has
conducted various surveys on how two groups of people, who felt differently, spend
money on others like charity or giving gifts from different countries like Uganda and
Canada. Although Norton s attempts at stablishing credibility were somewhat
ineffective, his arguments were mostly effect because of his use of logos and pathos.
Norton s used ethos in his speech but not very effectively. He had a good
appearance, he was dressed simple but at the same time he looked formal. Besides
this, he gave an enthusiastic and sincere look. His tone of voice throughout his
speech was friendly and reality based and he chose simple vocabulary as well, his
body language was clear and bold while interacting with his audience. He looked
credible because he provided evidence, but he did not really stablish himself as an
expert of happiness; he said that he was in a business school but he does not
convince his audience that he is credible in this way.

I attended the Citizens Advisory Committee on Domestic Violence on March 17, at
the Dutchess County Office Building. While there, I learned that this committee
(mostly of citizens) was discussing the issues of their ideas and proposals being
funded. They had recently lost grants and were coming up with ideas to gain that
money needed to fund their ideas. I found the title eye catching. I m always interested
in what there is to be done about domestic violence, so seeing this meeting was a
great way to see what is being done about this crime. Going to the event was not
what I expected. The room was even smaller than a classroom at Arlington.
Unfortunately, only half the committee was attending, but the ladies that were
there were very nice. They were very serious and considerate of what issues were
on the table. They were well prepared to address ideas that were from previous
meeting and the diversity of the jobs the women worked in gave new insights to the
situation on hand. The women had a very clear understanding of the work that
needed to be done and were trying to come up with solutions to the problems. I

Dear Parents/Guardians of 7th 8th Grade Chapel Choir Members,
I am writing to inform you about recent changes to the Friday only Chapel Choir
class structure.
In an effort to make students more successful, comfortable, and enjoying their class,
the format was altered from a typical choir rehearsal to something more akin to Music
Appreciation/ General Vocal Music. So far, the results have been positive. Students
now do not sing every class period, but are experiencing and learning about many
different aspects and styles of music. They are graded on classwork (work
completion, effort, participation), formative assessments (classwork graded for
accuracy), and summative assessments (projects lasting longer than one class
period). Friday choirs will no longer perform in chapels. I apologize if this is
something you had looked forward to. However, I have offered any student who
wants to sing, the opportunity to sing in chapel as a small group. This is something

government in New Zealand has decided for a different approach that could connect
private businesses and the government together. The government will allow the use
of businesses handling government sectors like schools, prison and hospitals. Social
bonds concentrates on the non profit, and private organisations. These organisations
help deliver services. These services range all sort of things like private business
which can help run private schools, private hospitals, private prisons rather than the
