Event organizers around the world are trying to figure out right now—should we postpone?
When faced with the options of canceling or postponing, cancellations should be the last resort, but while postponement gives temporary relief, it poses some key issues.
For starters, postpone until when?
What if all events are pushed back? What will Q4 look like with more than half the year’s events crammed into that one period?
Will the economic situation even be the same after this?

For those who are using social media, in many cases this is limited to push communications, ignoring its real marketing potential as a means of developing relationships with members, funders, media, decision-makers, and others in key target communities. She feels her biggest contribution has been influencing donors and rural communities to engage in their own development. Her work has taught her empathy, patience, and to acknowledge what she doesn't know in order to truly understand the issues communities face. She shares her experience of initially misidentifying a community's problems to emphasize the importance of listening to understand local realities. She is moved by increased appreciation for healthcare workers during the pandemic and hopes it continues after the crisis ends.

A Guide to AI for Smarter Nonprofits - Dr. Cori Faklaris, UNC Charlotte
Working with data is a challenge for many organizations. Nonprofits in particular may need to collect and analyze sensitive, incomplete, and/or biased historical data about people. In this talk, Dr. Cori Faklaris of UNC Charlotte provides an overview of current AI capabilities and weaknesses to consider when integrating current AI technologies into the data workflow. The talk is organized around three takeaways: (1) For better or sometimes worse, AI provides you with “infinite interns.” (2) Give people permission & guardrails to learn what works with these “interns” and what doesn’t. (3) Create a roadmap for adding in more AI to assist nonprofit work, along with strategies for bias mitigation.
