The courses in my program, particularly those focused on organizational systems, leadership, and evidence-based practice, have helped shape my understanding of quality and safety. I now view it as a multifaceted concept involving systems analysis, error prevention, continuous improvement, and data-driven decision making.
Two key artifacts demonstrate my evolving definition. My leadership paper proposed a project to reduce pressure ulcers through enhanced safety protocols. My organizational systems paper conducted a root cause analysis and designed interventions to address system failures. Together they show my ability to apply quality and safety principles to real-world healthcare issues.

The expansion may benefit some parties, like those profiting from new registrations, but could negatively impact others, like brands vulnerable to cybersquatting. 2. Tobacco s Burden Of Disease Essay
1. Tobacco s burden of disease
Tobacco use is widespread and has a heavy burden of disease . According to the U.S. department of Health and
Human Services [HHS], tobacco use is related to over 443,000 Americans death each year and has caused
approximately 8,860,000 related illnesses (2016). Thus causing it to have a higher mortality rate than HIV,
illegal drug use, motor vehicle injuries, suicides, and murders combined. Tobacco use is thus one of the Nation
s deadliest and most costly public health challenges (HHS, 2016). Tobacco can cause the onset of multiple
diseases, for example, cancer, cardiovascular disease, asthma, COPD, pregnancy complications, SIDS, and oral
diseases (HHS, 2016). The prevalence of tobacco use has been gradually decreasing since the nineteen sixty s,
but even today tobacco use is quite common.
2. The course of the disease: the concepts of incidence, prevalence, and case fatality.
The concepts of the course of disease are not fully relevant to the subject of tobacco, but can be examined and
applied in part. The concept of incidence is the rate of chance that a disease occurs over a period time
(Riegelman Kirkwood, 2015, p. 298). In other words, it is the rate of new cases of a disease. For tobacco use,
over two thousand teens and young adults become daily smokers each day in the United States (CDC, 2015).
The concept of prevalence in public health is the proportion of those within a population at a set period of time
that are afflicted

4. Charles Lindbergh Aviation History
The aviation history started in 1783 with an inedited public demonstration by the Montgolfier brothers. They
constructed the first lighter than air, a hot air balloon which brought new ideas in the course of time ( Museum
of Flight, 1965). In 1900, the first Zeppelin airship was built by Ferdinand Zeppelin. After two years, an
important person who would be noteworthy in the aviation history would be born, named Charles Augustus
Lindbergh. Lindbergh was an American man, who turned fall in love by aviation since he was young. On May

what it was or why I was experiencing it. I have learned that my insomnia is due partially to pain. I have now
been living with Insomnia for the past 2 years and still am learning more about it. Most people think that
insomnia is just the inability to sleep. It actually has different levels that include having a hard time going to

extreme example is people who can t sleep at all. Something else I didn t know about insomnia was the effects

It also helps prepare the brain to recall the information stored in an efficient manner the next day when needed.
What the research studies have found is that patients suffering from insomnia have a problem with this ability.
People who suffer from insomnia might not even know they are exhibiting these symptoms. To them they just
might feel like they are having a hard time getting a handle on the day. In people who suffer from acute
insomnia it may seem like they are just having in a rut and that can possibly end up affecting their work. Next
point is fatigue. Fatigue can be a symptom of insomnia. And when looked at closer at what things fatigue
includes it s easy to see how it has a negative effect on some ones quality of life. Researchers like Ahmed M.
Abdel Khaiek, Ph.D. have that fatigue can have a negative effect on an individual s immune system. Fatigue
can affect an individual s immune system by making them more susceptible to infection and illness such as the
flu. Also if someone is fatigued they can be accident prone. People who suffer from insomnia and display
fatigue also have a tendency to have slower reaction times, and may even end up causing an accident if they
were to be behind the wheel of a car. Lastly difficulties in interpersonal relationships are one of the biggest
concerns among researchers. Research studies show that people who suffer from insomnia are at greater risk to

6. Dominant Limb
Handedness is closely associated with the term dominant arm/leg in that it refers to the limb an individual is
more comfortable using when it comes to motor skills. Research has shown the dominant limb is stronger,
faster, and more accurate in certain tasks than the non dominant limb. A couple theories try to explain why
there is this difference and the neurophysiological aspect of how it works. The open versus closed loop
hypothesis of handedness refers to the motor response from sensory information in order to correct movements.
The dynamic dominance of handedness hypothesis states the non dominant limb is responsible for maintaining
static positions or postures while the dominant limb is in control of the path taken when the limb is moved. ...

proprioceptive feedback, especially when it came to larger scale movements. These findings are similar to other
research, but more is still needed to fully comprehend the difference between dominant and non dominant

She could faintly make out the character Winnie the Pooh. Photographs of Caylee s room and pictures of
Caylee as an infant show here laying on the same patterned blanket. Wrapped tightly around the skull were
three layers of duct tape. Dr. Garavaglia was able to note that this was done prior to any decomposition of the
body. This was because the mandible remained attached to the skull after decomposition had occurred
completely. (Casey Anthony Trial, 2011) Usually, once the soft tissue breaks away, there is nothing holding the
lower jaw to the upper skull portion. The tape had held the mandible in place and all of the baby teeth were still
in place. This is fairly unusual because baby teeth are temporary and do not have true roots holding them in
once the tissue is gone. (Casey Anthony Case, 2013) The tape had been wound through the child s hair and was
still clinging into the tape. Over the mouth area, there was a heart shaped sticker. Investigators found similar
stickers in Casey s room. This pointed even more to the remains belonging to Caylee Anthony. Finally a
definitive answer came in. The DNA results finally came back. The findings were that the remains did in fact
belong to Caylee. Now it was Dr. Garavaglia s job to figure out how this young girl lost her life.

10. The Garden Of Earthly Delights
Hieronymous Bosch s 16th century triptych, The Garden of Earthly Delights, is a heavily discussed image
among scholars. Because of the obscure nature of the painting and its subjects, especially so in the context of
the painting s time period, interpretations and analyses of the image are widespread. Common interpretations of
the piece include that the image is a symbolic warning against shame and sin, a warning against woman s
temptations, the rebirth of a joyous world, and the Garden as a Paradise Lost . In the 15th and 16th centuries,
there were various controversies surrounding the papacy of the Catholic Church, as well as other matters of
Catholic corruption, which would eventually lead to the reformation. Expectedly, an unsophisticated symbolic
analysis of the painting may lead one to interpret the image as a representation of the Final Judgment , which is
plausible given this context of Bosch s time period. Because of religious conflict and turmoil, people were
likely confused and fearful of literal apocalyptic consequences. A more sophisticated allegorical analysis of the
piece is instead revealing of Bosch s conceptual interpretation of the world and reality itself. The title suggests
the piece contains earthly delights , yet the absence of any man like items suggests that Bosch s painting was
instead metaphorically symbolic in its iconographic depictions. The center panel should thus be interpreted
allegorically in order to decode Bosch s conceptual

13. Shake And Stir By William Shakespeare
Shake and Stir Responding Task Shake and Stir Theatre Company is a compelling theatrical voice which
aspires to render Shakespeare s plays to appease modern audiences. However, William Shakespeare penned his
last play 400 years ago; despite this, his plays and sonnets are as alive today as they were in the 16th and 17th
Centuries. Shakespeare s plays still appeal to modern society because of the universality of the dramatic themes
love, deceit, political endorsement, honour, ambition and courage humans still experience these emotions
which give Shakespeare a foothold in modern times. Shake and Stir sequenced together an array of modified
scenes from Shakespeare s most iconic plays, to implore dramatic meaning: Shakespearean text can be
rendered to engross modern audiences while maintaining its integrity and Elizabethan charm. Great Shakes is
staged in a graveyard, where three year ten students, Betty, Brock and Ben are incarcerated. However, after
appearances from several supernaturals, they are returned to their everyday lives, but not before they
manipulate Shakespeare s tragedies, comedies and histories to engage contemporary audiences. It is evident,
Shake and Stir s production, Great Shakes effectively conveyed the dramatic meaning of Shakespeare s
relevance in contemporary society. This was made explicit through; the re contextualization of the historical
context, utilisation of conventions from modern theatre (cinematic theatre) and Elizabethan theatre.

would be difficult for them to come up with the money because of financial issues. If someone was rich, they
would be able to pay the bail or fine without having to worry about providing food on the table or paying bills.
Because of this, it seems like these criminal laws are set up to benefit those who are wealthy and weed out
those that are poor. Those associated with the lower class are usually associated with crime and violence and
because of that, these criminal laws are targeted towards a group of people who are at a disadvantage. In The
Central Park Five, we can see that wealthy people and the authorities hold most of the power. The people

16. Things Fall Apart Misogynist
The novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe, can be viewed or depicted in many different ways depending
on the reader. The novel takes place during the late nineteenth century and the early twentieth century in a
village named Umuofia, Nigeria. The timing is important to the setting because during this period in colonial
history, Britain was trying to modernize and increase economic, cultural, and political influence in Africa. In
Things Fall Apart women are viewed as weak and oppressed, and women are continually given bad
connotations, while the men are viewed as superior. I will explain how a feminist will feel while reading this
novel by pointing out key parts of women s oppression and how a misogynist will feel reading this book as
well. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A misogynist, who is a person that is strongly prejudiced against women, would read this novel and see nothing
wrong with the way the women are being treated. Instead, the misogynist would praise it and see it as a thing
that should be happening. Misogynists would be entertained by the way Okonkwo has an impulsive temper and
acts before he thinks. The way Okonkwo collects and beats his wives makes him manly in his tribe. Okonkwo
gave her a sound beating and left her and her only daughter weeping. Neither of the other wives dared to
interfere beyond an occasional and tentative, It is enough, Okonkwo, pleaded from a reasonable distance.
(Shmoop, Achebe) To have the women be so afraid of the way Okonkwo reacts and his bad temper that his
wives have to tell him to stop beating one of the other wives from a distance, shows how crazy he can get.
Misogynists would not see this as a bad thing, because they want the women to know better than to involve
themselves. If one of the wives were to get involved, meaning pushing Okonkwo off or protecting the wife
getting beaten, then Okonkwo would most likely feel disrespected or intimidated and would end up beating her,

17. The Berlin Wall
Before the creation of the Berlin Wall, West Berlin presented an escape route for thousands of East Germans,
which worsened conditions in the East and put pressure on the West. When East Germany lost civilians, its
economy and social institutions weakened without skilled workers, causing more civilians to flee in a vicious
cycle. The West was also unprepared for the influx of immigrants, due to the Western Leaders mistaken beliefs
that reunification was imminent and economic fragility. East Germans who feared further Sovietization and
coveted the higher wages and civil rights of the West fled West in droves; between 1941 and 1961 alone nearly
3.7 million people fled West. The creation of the Berlin Wall almost completely stopped migration, giving both
nations the time they needed to develop. The Government of East Germany, the East German Democratic
Republic or GDR , provided its citizens with housing, free transport, and excellent public education. However,
for many East Germans these benefits were overshadowed by the methods by which the GDR maintained
control and the lack of economic development. The GDR used an extensive secret police network called the
Stasi to suppress discontent. The Stasi surveyed citizens every move in order to suppress rebellious sentiments
(Cameron). The Soviets had also weakened the German economy by selling German equipment and created a
centralized economy completely controlled by the government (Rosenburg). On the other hand, West

Shooting a Sweep Single From beginners to Olympic Champions, the sweep single is a trenchant takedown
used by all types of wrestlers. It really is a shot that everyone can use no matter the wrestler s size, shape, or
skill level. There are many different variations to this wrestling move with countless set ups and finishes to it.
To successfully complete the sweeping single, a wrestler must focus on creating a variety of movements that
lead to the actual shot which can then be finished to score the two point takedown.
Before a wrestler can ever shoot a sweep single, they first have to get ahold of the opponent by attacking
certain points of the body. In order to obtain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To begin taking the shot the wrestler must first lower their level. This is an intrinsic part in the whole process.
Usually, the wrestler who is lower in height will win the battle, which is the same with many other contact
sports. The attacking wrestler will lower his level to become more powerful and also to avoid the opponent s
upper body defense. The attacking wrestler will then drive off of their back leg and penetrate into their
opponent. This particular shot is called a sweeping single for two reasons. The sweeping part comes in because
as the attacking wrestler is penetrating in, the will windshield wipe their feet around their opponent in order to
get behind them. The second reason is the single part, which means the attacking wrestler will grab one leg
instead of two. After the wrestler is in deep on their sweeping single shot, they can begin to finish the

20. Definition Essay on Love
Love by definition is an emotion explored in philosophy, religion, and literature, often as either romantic love,
the fraternal love of others, or the love of God based on the definition found in The Encarta Encyclopedia. As I
explored the definition by means of the Internet, books, and articles I noticed the definitions changed quite a
bit, but yet had the same basic understanding. The definition I found in The Encarta Encyclopedia was
probably the most simple and most basic. It refers to love in the whole aspect, which is Godly, fraternal, and
romantic. All in which can only be defined by one word and that it love. The definitions of love are the same
and yet different. Godly, for instance is the love of God, and your devotion ... Show more content on

It starts as the love of two individuals, and then progresses to the love of a family. The love between parent and
child is far more different than the love between husband and wife. That is where the difference in the meaning
of love comes in. Romantic love is the love between husband and wife and fraternal love is the love between
parent and child. And if you re a religious family you have the love of your God. All in which are very
different; and yet pretty much the same! Some marriages don t last, unfortunately and the end result is a
divorce. A divorce is basically the termination of a marriage. Most divorces occur due to corrupted love. If it is
true love it ll last a lifetime. Nothing can break the love between two people if it s true love. If it were possible
to break this eternal bond it would have to have been a relationship based on corrupted love. True love is very
rare in my opinion and if it exists it will last a lifetime, regardless. If not, that relationship is corrupt. Corrupted
relationships are relationships that are falsified by ones wrong intentions in a relationship. These intentions
tend to throw the other companion into a belief that their partner loves them when in fact they don t thus
causing heartbreak. Most of these intentions are sexual and physical. Any relationship based strictly on sexual
and physical attraction will fail. True love is primarily emotional. These sexual tendencies are what cause

25. Interpreter Of Maladies By Jhumpa Lahiri
In Interpreter of Maladies , Jhumpa Lahiri uses both art and language as symbols of the difficulty of belonging
when stuck between two or more cultures. Born in London from Indian parents, then raised in the United
States, Lahiri puts in this story her own feeling or removal into the characters: The Das, visiting a country that
has become more foreign than homely; and Mr. Kapasi, who struggles to claim his identity through language
and translation. Bilbro argues that a lot of Lahiri scholarhip overlooks the importance of dealing with one s
tradition in working towards a postnational identity (382). Indeed, this process of initiation is particularly
present in Interpreter of Maladies , where the Das act of taking a tour shows a certain will to engage with this
tradition and heritage. If an active engagement with tradition allows us to participate both in the continued
formation of our identity and in the formation of the tradition that is being handed down , the power of this act
is however tarnished by the family s lack of active and interested engagement with the local art and culture.
Their original interest is a step towards integration, but it is not enough to make them an integral part of Indian
tradition and its transmission.
The Das are indeed so removed from Indian culture that they can only see it through an occidental lens,
different to each of them. As a professor, Mr. Das engages with the world around him through books.

The Portuguese came to America for the opportunity and chance to obtain the American Dream. While most
immigrants that came to America worked factory jobs, the Portuguese came for whaling, fishing, ship making,
and the aquaculture industry. There was a need for the new wave of Portuguese immigrants to be close to the
water since Portugal resides along the Atlantic Ocean, so therefore they settled in regions such as: Southern
New England, San Francisco Bay, California, and Hawaii. Considering Portugal s close approximation to the
water, one may understand why mostly all Portuguese immigrants worked in maritime industry. Unfortunately,
even considering all the labor and business the Portuguese brought to America, there was still discrimination
towards them and their contributions to America s industrial growth. The ideology, nativism, was the concept
of protecting the interests of established inhabitants, which henceforth created countless difficulties for the
Portuguese. Nativist beliefs which marginalized against Portuguese immigrants where laws such as the

29. Employment At The United States
Employment at will
Employment at will is a common law that governs work relationships in most states in the U.S. The rule states
that if an employee is contracted by an employer for an indefinite period of time then the contract can be
terminated by either the employee or the employer at any time and for any given reason unless there is another
law in places that guide otherwise. This simply implies that if an employee is hired under the at will law then
the employer can fire the employee for any reason at any time without prior warning or communication. An
employee, on the other hand, may decide to leave the job at any time without reason or prior warning. The At
will employment became part of the common laws for employment in the United States in the late 19th century.
However, it has been modified by many states in the recent past by adding a number of exceptions in order to
protect employees from unfair dismissal.
Exceptions to the Rule
The exceptions to the employment at will rule are meant to protect workers from wrongful termination of their
employment. This is provided to all employees covered by the federal law, state laws, CDAs, public policy and
employment contracts among other situations. The following are some of the major exceptions to the
employment at will doctrine.
Public Policy
The majority of the jurisdictions in the U.S recognize the existence of certain public policy guidelines that
limits the application of employment at will. Examples of such

This applies to the future for other for other jobs and schools as well. Grades do not affect your life in the long

but gets a low grade and unfortunately, colleges will not know any of this. Some students may even have test
anxiety, making them do bad on test. Around 40 60% of students suffer from test anxiety.(healthycentral.org)
So, around half of students have a chance of doing poorly on a test despite learning a lot. Colleges may not
know this part either; they also do not know how much blood, sweat, and tears a student has put into the 12 14

does not use that information in school, they may think that it is useless learning information out of school.
They may not even think this until they graduate. Recent graduates, a student with a college reputation, a high

meeting I attended was an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. When thinking about what sort of recovery event I

plenty of diversity in the group of individuals based on personalities also, but not much diversity in ethnicities
as all of the members of this meeting were white. Once the meeting went underway, I knew I was in for
