Tesco Marketing
INTRODUCTION
Marketing is essentially a matching process between the needs and expectations of customers, and the
organization s ability and capacity to satisfy them.
One of the main points of this process is the marketing planning.
The purpose of marketing planning and its principal focus are the identification and creation of
competitive advantage. Marketing planning is the planned application of marketing resources to
achieve marketing objectives.
In other words, it is the written document that describes your advertising and marketing efforts for the
coming year; it includes a statement of the marketing situation, a discussion of target markets and
company positioning and a description of the marketing mix you intend to use to ... Show more

Add to that a high rate of unemployment causes a drop in effective demand for goods, that demand
requiring for the production of goods.
While these economic factors are largely outside the control of Tesco, they have an undeniable impact
on the company business performance and its marketing decisions.
Tesco operates in a global world and is now located in several countries, and this international
business is still growing, but it remains dependent on the UK market. This excessive concentration on
a single market exposes them to risks and would be negatively affected by any slowdown in the UK
food market (as the crisis of mad cow in the 1990s)
Finally, the economic crisis, which is still current, tends to reduce the purchasing power of consumers,
who are much more reluctant and afraid to spend more than they can.
New technologies have had a great impact. For instance, online shopping has become a major factor in
Tesco s recent success.
Technology is the basis for the development of many products in the Tesco range. These new
technologies have provided consumers than the company itself.
Consumer satisfaction is higher because services are more personalized and responsive to each and
shopping becomes more enjoyable and seems less arduous. To obtain customer satisfaction, Tesco has
put in place in its stores the following technologies:

Women s Suffrage Essay examples
Women s Suffrage nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; The women s suffrage movement began in 1848
when a group of women met in Seneca Falls New York. These women issued what became known as
the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolution s, and 11 pt. document outlining the demand for equal
rights. Al of the articles of the Declaration passed except for the right to vote. It was widely believed
at that time, that women were both physically and mentally inferior to men, and therefore should not
have the right to vote. The Seneca Falls convention was organized by a group of women who had been
active in the antislavery movement. When they were rejected as delegates to an abolitionist
convention because of their sex, they vowed to turn their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

younger and more radical women who worked for a constitutional amendment to get the vote. The

this would take to long and tried to the the courts to declare that voting is the right of all citizens. She
based this belief on the fact that the 14th amendment made women citizens. In 1872 she went to the

Minor, a friend of Anthony s and president of the Missouri Woman Suffrage Association, tried to vote

The Nursing And Midwifery Council
The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2008) states that nursing care must be evidence or best
practise based. In order to excellently provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 7) states that
nurses must base their delivery of care on the most current, up to date health information available and
rigorous nursing knowledge. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2005) defines Evidence based
practise (EBP) as a problem solving approach to clinical practise that integrates: A systematic search
for and critical appraisal of the most relevant evidence to answer a burning clinical question, one s
own clinical expertise and patient preferences and values. The benefits of EBP include resolving
problems in the clinical setting; provide clinicians with evidence based data, introducing innovation,
Achieve excellence in care delivery and improves efficacy and reducing variation in clinical
performance.
It is therefore vital for students to be able to evaluate and critique research papers in order for them to
regulate the validity of a study and to apply theories to practise. A research critique measures the value
and importance of a study and this is going to be determined by evaluating the strengths and
weaknesses of the study (Brockopp Tolsma, 2003, p. 400). Critical appraisal is the process of carefully
and systematically examining research to judge its trustworthiness, and its value and relevance in a
particular context (Astin 2009). The aim of this essay is to

Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover, By George Bernard Shaw
No matter if a person is a reader of Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw, or a viewer of The
Makeover, it is understood both Eliza Doolittle and Elliot Doolittle are in need of a transformation.
Throughout both the book and film, both characters were going through drastic changes in life. In the
play, Pygmalion, Eliza Doolittle, living in London England, was considered an illiterate, poor girl.
Eliza is a girl that stands at a flower shop and sells flowers. Heavy summer rain had settled into
London, and all the people were seeking shelter. Henry Higgins along with Colonel Pickering and
Freddy were among those taking shelter that very day. Freddy s mother had told him to take a taxi
home. Opening his umbrella, Freddy ran into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hannah is competing against a local weather man for a Congress position. As the film continues,
Hannah s outcome is not so great; she loses to the local weather man. Hannah Higgins is compared to
Henry Higgins, in Pygmalion, because she is grumpy most of the time. After her recent loss, Hannah
and Colleen Pickering were back at the office reviewing. Elliot Doolittle, the local beer distributor,
walked by. He was speaking in a language nobody could understand. Hannah walked up to him telling
him his speaking was not correct. He was extremely offended by her comment and walked away.
The local weather man, competing for the role, never got the weather right, so the day he made his
speech was not any different. He did not know of any thunderstorms in the area, so he died from a
lightning strike. Hannah Higgins was, then, eligible to be in the race again. People would not vote for
her, though, so she had to find some way to win the race. Her perfect solution was to get Elliot
Doolittle in the race. The only problem with him was he was not well dressed and could not speak
fluently. Hannah had also offended him earlier, so the chances of him doing this favor for her was not

Superheros Influence On American Culture
Superheros have been in the American culture since the 1900 s. They were first showcased in comics
and over the years have made it to the big screen. Comic books and superheros have made a huge
impact on American life relating to real life events. Since the early 1900 s comic books have
influenced the American society during harsh times leaving the people with a sense of hope, comic
book superheros also relate to epic heroes and Thor is a great example due to the strength and courage
he demonstrates. The Golden age of comic books could be one of the most important. This was the
age of the first superhero ever. In The History of funnies in America, it says. Action comics make its
first appearance, and feature the first superhero ever: Superman in 1938. The Silver Age of comics
revolutionized heroes by giving them a weakness or something making them more human and

Take Thor and Gilgamesh, both sons of kings giving them a high title. They both also have superior
strength. In, Epic Poetry: Definition, Heroes, Stories, it says, Gilgamesh was an arrogant and
inexperienced ruler. The Babylonian gods were displeased with the way Gilgamesh treated his people,
so they sent a hero named Enkidu to guide Gilgamesh and help him become a better leader. This can
also relate to Thor because he was not yet experienced enough to take after his father, so he sent him
to earth without his powers to teach him a lesson and help him grow to be a greater and stronger
leader. Thor was the son of the ruler of asgard and sometimes referred to as god. In Essential 8 Thor

The Issue Of Availability And Quality Of The Information...
4. Discuss the issue of availability and quality of the information that you base scenarios on.
In order for any scenario to be successful, the type of information used must be current, relevant and
reliable. If this is not the case then your scenario will not be effective at all, leading to a disastrous
event which might even proceed to an organisation losing a lot of money eventually closing down. So
carefully analysis of the type of information received and from which source is this information
received from must be considered.
When developing a scenario, a deep insightful research must be done in order to gather as much data
as possible; from this data serious analysis is done to scan the data and only taking that which is useful
(which now becomes useful information) in creating a scenario. The information needed here is
mostly about that relating to the future, so hence such information will be hard to find or come up
with. This is where the help of experts and external advisors comes to play, in order to verify the
information you have and also add into your information.
Companies usually have management information systems which they use to get the information need,
and in these management information systems there are feathers of scenarios built in, to make the
retrieval of information to be used in a scenario easier. Another way of getting the right type of
information for running scenarios would be through other applications such as spread sheets.

Angela Davis And The Civil Rights Movement
Angela Davis is one of the most influential women when it comes to feminism, race, politics, to just
name a few. She has paved the way for many generations of women to have a voice when they once
wouldn t. It is essential to realize that one can t discuss feminism and black power without discussing
Angela Davis. The reason I chose Angela Davis is because she is a household name that I have always
heard, but had never known much of. I think it s deeply important to understand the impact she s had
on the feminist movement, specifically for women of color.
Angela Yvonne Davis was born in Birmingham, Alabama on January 26, 1944 to Sallye Davis and
Frank Davis. Sallye was a elementary school teacher who was faithfully involved in the civil ... Show

( Davis, Angela 1944 .) In her early years she was exposed to activism through her mother, Sallye
Davis, she was involved with the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
(NAACP), at a time in which it was very dangerous to do so. Her mother was also heavily involved
with the Communist Party, she was involved in the civil right s movement and was an organizer for
the Southern Negro Congress. Since she grew up around such a heavy influence of Communist ideals,
Davis developed a mindset geared towards equal rights at a very young age. Davis views started
coming through in her academics at a very young age as well, in high school Davis did everything she
could to start to an interracial study group, the group was harassed, and then disbanded by the police.
Eventually Davis would go onto start herself a legacy that is greatly inspired by her mother. She
would join the Black Panther Party after a horrible tragedy.
In 1963, four black girls were killed in a bombing of a church, the bombing took place in her
hometown and it became known as the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing. This sparked a passion in
Davis for philosophy because she was personally affected by the bombing, she knew two of the people
killed in it. As a result of this tragedy she joined the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee and
then the Black Panther Party.

How Art Follow One Of The Five Formal Elements Of Art
All aspects of art follow one of the five formal elements of art. The elements are line, shape, texture,
color, and balance. Some elements are subdued, but some paintings have elements that are very
obvious. With the artists use of these elements he states what his style is, as well as, the use of
medium, and color that directs the viewer s eye to a specific area of the painting. I will choose
paintings to show these elements, how they are used, and what idea the artist is trying to show, and
give my impressions.
The first element I will address is shape. There are regular shapes that are geometric and irregular
shapes that show motion. I have chosen, for shape, Little Yellow Horses by Franz Marc, shown on
page 829. This painting was completed in 1912. The medium is oil on canvas in the Expressionism
style. It is currently displayed at Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Germany.
Here we have a painting of three yellow horses with exaggerated curvature and is composed of open
circles. The artist saw yellow as a happy color and thought animals were more beautiful than man. The
curves are accentuated by the black manes of the horses. The two front horses have an added open
circle with their heads being down. The horse in the background has just a slight curve of his back and
the arc of his mane. In this work, at first glance, is a sea of yellow, black and circles. Upon a closer
look, the artist shows the beauty of the horse. The yellow along with the blue and pink

policy, agriculture, discrimination instances, transport, competition rules, visas, immigration and
asylum cases, enhanced cooperation and European Union citizenship .
The assent procedure reiterates that the European council in reaching a decision alone must obtain the
consent of the European Parliament before hand. The decision on the proposed legislation should not
be one that seeks to amend the proposal but rather accept it as it is or reject it as it is; the majority vote
carries the day. Article 16 of the European Union affirms that the Council must act by a qualified
majority unless waived by a subject treaty. Protocol No. 36 on the Transitional provisions on qualified
majority that is valid till October 2014 proposes that Germany, France, Italy and the United Kingdom
shall bear 29 votes each while Spain and Poland shall carry 27 votes each. Netherlands have 13 votes,

Hollywood Vertical Integration
Those who study film surely know the names of brothers Auguste and Louis Lumiére. To many film
historians, these men are credited with history s first public film screening. It is worth noticing that the
Lumiére brothers were responsible for every aspect of their films. This meant that they were in charge
of creating the film and getting it to the audiences. However, as the film industry evolved throughout
the years, these different steps became more complex and needed to be split into three separate stages:
production, distribution, and exhibition. The first stage, production, can be broken down into four
separate parts: development, pre production, production, and post production. In the beginning of
production, the development stage, the idea for the film is carefully selected. Following the selection,
a screenplay is written for the chosen idea and then pitched to a major company. The pitch of the film

However, most people also know that with the spending of money comes risk. Although Hollywood
seems careless with expenditures, the film industry is actually quite conscientious when it comes to
saving time and money, lowering costs and risks, and maintaining the flow of production. In order to
accomplish these things, vertical integration came about which quickly gave rise to Hollywood s
studio system. Vertical integration refers to the owning and involvement in all three stages of the film
industry: production, distribution, and exhibition. This was first seen in the film industry immediately
following WWI when the largest producer distributor created a theater chain. Following this, the
largest exhibition conglomerate became involved in the production of films. Numerous mergers
followed shortly after and created the Big Five: Paramount, MGM, Twentieth Century, Warner
Brothers, and RKO. These companies dominated the film industry through the studio

Causes And Effects Of Islamic Terrorism
Terrorism has been an evident problem in the throughout the world and in the U.S. and has been a
point of strife and grief amongst the affected families and the community. It affects the Nation and the
citizens within. The same goes for the Islamic and Muslim countries as well. These countries often
feeling stronger repercussions because of a larger amount of terrorist activity within the countries
themselves. This giving rise to problems such as economic depression and political controversy
among the countries within themselves. As a result of this it causes immigration into countries more
developed and not war torn such as the United States and countries within the United Kingdom.
Terrorism in the United States has been going on for many years, dating back to the first assassination,
President Abraham Lincoln, in 1865, and has continued to as as late as last week. So for more a
hundred and fifty years we have been dealing with terroristic acts. These acts affects all the countries
citizens not just the victims. For example after 9/11 nearly 200,000 americans lost their jobs and about
40,000 in aerospace careers lost their jobs. These effects are long lasting depending on the severity.
The effects of Radical Islamic terrorism do not just affect the american citizens, but also the Muslim

Lying Definition Essay
What defines a lie, and what do people believe about lying? Well, a lie is a false statement made with
deliberate intent to deceive, and certain people think that lying can be effective in different situations.
As many people know, lying is often seen as a horrible trait. In some situations, lying can be used to
benefit on or the other. These four articles, information about when lying appropriate, when to use lie,
and/or how to lie. This point of view justifies how lying can be a benefit to the liar, and to others. To
begin with, there are multiple of ways to lie, and different ways that lying can justified. Lying can be
used for the greater good, or in negative ways. For example, Tim, 18, said the key to being good at
lying is to keep it simple. If you get caught in a lie, he said, tell another one, and then tell another one
to cover that one up, but keep it simple. You keep it simple so you can recap it in your head and keep
your story straight. (Article 4). This shows that lying to people is terrible. However, lying is an option

To others, it is okay if you do it in a right way. The key to lying is not to tell a whole lie or a whole

groups most likely to say lying is sometimes OK: people aged 18 29, college graduates and those with

most people have an idea that lying is bad. One can also see from this view is that some groups justify

He suggested that investors should choose portfolios and not individual shares.
(http://www.riskglossary.com/link/portfolio_theory.htm). Portfolio Theory: Markowitz contribution
showed that the benefits of diversification depend not just on risking individual assets but also on how
the asset returns interact with each other, or the correlation between returns. E.g. A combination of
investments in Umbrellas and Ice Creams will eliminate the risk of one another, i.e., the low returns
from ice creams in rainy season will be compensated by the umbrella sales. High returns in one
industry, in this case, always offset low returns in the other to give a positive return with certainty
because returns on the two assets are inversely correlated. Risk of a portfolio (combination of shares)
depends on the correlation between the expected return of every pair of shares in a portfolio.
Correlation varies between +1 and 1. Thus a perfectly positively correlated portfolio would mean a +1
and a negatively correlated portfolio would mean 1. In a positively correlated portfolio the expected
return would move in the same direction in the same proportion at all times, however in a negatively
correlated portfolio the returns would move in the opposite direction (J Ogilvie B Koch 2002). A

Research Paper on Hurricane Wilma
Hurricane Wilma
November 24, 2015
Geology 1401
Introducion: Cyclones, Hurricanes, and Typhoons, these cyclonic storms are known by many names
but are all born from the same mechanism: low pressure systems. Also known as depressions.
Thankfully, most hurricanes form only during hurricane season, which is from June 1st to November
30th. Within this season about 85 percent of the most intense hurricanes and 60 percent of minor
Atlantic tropical storms and hurricanes originate from African easterly waves (NOAA Cyclone
Report). These waves, which have a wavelength of 2000 to 2500 kilo meters, originate close to or

Hurricane Wilma On the evening of October 15, 2005 tropical depression number 24 appeared in
Atlantic Ocean, its winds at a mere 35 kilo meters per hour, pressure of about 1004 mb and heading
West at a pace of 5 kilo meters per hour. In the next few hours, the winds of depression number 24
gradually increased to 45 km/h and on the morning of October 16, it had reached speeds of 55 km/h.
On the 17nth of October this depression developed into tropical storm Wilma , with wind speeds at
about 65 km/h and an internal pressure of 1000 mb. At about 10 A.M the Yucatan Peninsula was
issued a warning, alerting them of the possible dangers from Wilma. Following an erratic pattern of

ignoring this problem. Around the world, Tropical Rainforests are being destroyed at a rate of 80 to 90
acres each minute. (Thompson, Heather) The rainforest is home of many living creatures and provide
the world with many supplies such as, food, clean water, and housing, but soon the population of those
living creatures will decrease and those supplies will be gone. People need to end deforestation
globally because of the main effects it has on earth like the social, environmental, and loss of different
species.
Social effects are one of many of the big effects of deforestation. The most threatening social effect
that deforestation has on most areas is in the medical profession. Tropical rainforest have given us
chemicals to treat or cure inflammation, rheumatism, diabetes, muscle tension, surgical complications,
malaria, heart conditions, skin diseases, arthritis, glaucoma, and hundreds of other maladies. (Tropical
Forest In Our Daily Lives.) Every day, nearly 137 species are becoming extinct making it a complete
unknown possibility of Pharmaceutical potential being destroyed. (Deforestation Effects.) Instead of
destroying species everyday for just paper, pencils, and many other sources when people can cut them
down for more useful reasons like medicine and not destroy many all at once.
An obvious effect on deforestation is environmental

Porsche Changes Tack Essay
Porsche Changes Tack
Yes, of course, we have heard of shareholder value. But that does not change the fact that we put
customers first, then workers, then business partners, suppliers and dealers, and then shareholders. Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, CEO, Porsche, Die Zeit, April 17, 2005.
Porsche had always been different. Statements by Porsche leadership, like the one above, always made
Veselina (Vesi) Dinova nervous about the company s attitude about creating shareholder value. The
company was a paradox. Porsche s attitudes and activities were like that of a family owned firm, but it
had succeeded in creating substantial shareholder value for more than a decade. Porsche s CEO, Dr.
Wendelin Wiedeking, had been credited with clarity of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Efficiency is not really critical because the firm s financial goals are not exclusively shareholder
oriented since they are constrained by the other stakeholders. In any case, stakeholder capitalism
assumes that long term loyal shareholders typically, controlling shareholders rather than the transient
portfolio investor should influence corporate strategy. Although both philosophies have their strengths
and weaknesses, two trends in recent years have led to an increasing focus on shareholder wealth.
First, as more of the non Anglo American markets have increasingly privatized their industries, the
shareholder wealth focus is seemingly needed to attract international capital from outside investors,
many of whom are from other countries. Second, and still quite controversial, many analysts believe
that shareholder based multinationals are increasingly dominating their global industry segments.
Porsche AG
I know exactly what I want and what must happen. I am the real one. You can be sure. Dr. Wendelin
Wiedeking
Porsche AG was a publicly traded, closely held, German based auto manufacturer. Porsche s President
and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, had returned the company to both status and
profitability since taking over the company in 1993. Wiedeking s background was in production, and
many had questioned whether he was the right man for the job. Immediately after taking over Porsche,
he had killed the 928 and 968 model platforms to reduce

The Integration Of Computers And Software Tools
Bioinformatics is the integration of computers and software tools to analyse information associated
with biomolecules on a large scale. Conventionally, biological study examines individual system in
detail and uses the data that is produced to frequently compare similar systems that are related.
However, bioinformatics facilitates scientists to study and conduct global analysis of all the available
data. This allows researchers, to uncover common principles that may be applied across numerous
systems, which results in different features to be highlighted (Luscombe , et al., 2001).
Due to the increased amount of research that has been conducted in association with genes and
proteins, computational methods such as bioinformatics has become ... Show more content on

Computational biology became popular during the 1970 s when the price of computers decreased and
they were easier to use and more readily available. Subsequently, this new technology was introduced
primarily to store and manage data that was produced through genomic research. This then resulted in
investigations to be completed in shorter amounts of time, which lead to larger investigations, leading
to more data being produced. Thus, bigger and better computers were needed to manage the data that
was generated. Hence, bioinformatics was used to create tools, algorithms and databases, which
enabled comprehensive management of data. Therefore, as more and more data is being produced, the
need for more powerful computers are needed in order to manage the data. Furthermore, due to large
amount of data being generated, larger databases are required and more powerful tools are needed to
manage and store the data.
The proteins play a key role in the biological function and their studies make possible to understand
the mechanisms that occur in many biological events. The human genome project enabled the
emergence of proteomics. Proteomics is the large scale study of proteins, particularly the functions
and structure of different proteins. The field of bioinformatics has had a significant effect in
proteomics, as it has introduced new algorithms to handle large and heterogeneous data sets.
Moreover, Bioinformatics has offered the

The competition is basically on price and profits. Other small and private carriers are also competing
with FedEx (Foust, 2003).
Strengths
Major strength of FedEx is its fastest home delivery service among all courier companies.
Customer base of FedEx is its one major strength but proper attention should be paid to maintain it
properly.
Another huge privilege which FedEx possess is its Smart Post option which allows it to utilize e
commerce to carry out the courier delivery services.
It has gained the position of 2nd largest LTL carrier in US and thus has gained much popularity among
its clients.
It s well established online courier tracking services are gaining more and more popularity in recent
times thus allowing the clients to attract towards the company more easily.
Innovation is one big advantage which FedEx carries and thus it keeps on innovating new solutions
for client s problems.
Weaknesses
One big weakness of FedEx is its inability in maintaining its competitive position in the marketing
especially in comparison to its big competitor named UPS.
Not completely but high costs are also making its success a bit away because competitors offer such
packages at low rates.
Although it is efficient but sometimes quality of services does not satisfy clients which in case make
the customer base decrease at a slower pace but it is still dangerous for the company.

Comparison Of The Article Dignity And Dreams
Introduction The question of concern in the article, Dignity and Dreams (Sykes, 2015), was whether
the Earned Income Tax Credit [EITC] provided families with enough support to progress financially
just over the poverty line. While This was an important focus there was a The emphasis on how the
family respectfully and discreetly received the money was also an active factor. Likewise, in the
second article, Bonus or Rebate? (Epley, 2006), there was a concern about a consumer s reluctant
choice to spend a check depending on its label. They specifically tracked spending patterns of
consumers receiving either a Rebate (a loss) check or a bonus (a gain) check and documented whether
they spent a larger portion of the check or saved more of it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Or would the recipients spend a surplus of money if thought to be a bonus check? Sykes (2015) had
found that families felt a relief from financial stress when it came to receiving their yearly lump sum
from the government. They were able to pay back many of their debts, just as a responsible family
should. This allowed them to enhance the amount of consumption they were given leeway for. Such as
toys or brand name foods. For families in Welfare who were given limited room to grow, EITC left
enough money to lift dreams off the ground and making it possible for families to invest in their
futures. All of these factors made it easier for the families to feel a sense of citizenship. Social
inclusion plays a larger factor than once thought. Using government programs like SNAP (food
stamps) ostracized people in public areas; making it difficult to feel proud or in a sense normal . I
strongly believe that this article found what they set out to look for. The results clearly show that EITC
gave low wage families a sense of dignity, but since the population interviewed and tracked was so
small it s difficult to believe that all families in the same program live entirely the same. The lurking
variables consisted of past programs impeding on the behavior of present recipients in the EITC
program. These past programs have altered the way of thinking for some people. The

The Controversy About Car Repair Companies
One of the main reasons people complain about car repair companies is that what they thought would
be a very cheap repair ends up costing much more than advertised, or taking longer than expected. In
most cases, this can be avoided by choosing the right car repair company and ensuring that all the
work done is documented and agreed before anything is done to your car. Let s start with selecting a
car repair company. Unless you are in an emergency situation, like your car engine giving up in the
middle of a road trip, chances are you have plenty of time to choose a good and legitimate mechanic
professional to call on when needed. It s always better to ask for referrals, as few people would

Modernism In Form Follows Function, By Wilk Christopher
In this essay I am going to talk about one theme of Modernist, looking at the different views of
designers in two different books which are Form Follows Function by Susan Lambert from 1993 and
the second book is Modernism by Wilk Christopher.
The Modernist theme I had choose is Form Follows Function . Form follows purpose, use is a sense of
right connected with modernist buildings and structure design and to do with industry design in the
20th hundred. The general rule is that the form of a building or purpose should be primarily based
upon its person one is going to be married to group event or purpose.

The Movement Of Fight For Urban Land Reform
The Movimento de Luta nos Bairros, Vilas e Favelas MLB (Movement of Fight in Communities, Vilas
and Favelas, loosely translated), is a Brazilian social movement that fights for urban land reform and
for the human right of decent living conditions. Thousands of families throughout the whole country
make up the movement, most of them victims of the land and propriety speculation predatory action.
They are gathered in a way much alike what Sidney Tarrow described as a social movement, having a
set up of collective challenges by people with common purposes and solidarity in sustained interaction
with elites, opponents and authorities (Tarrow, 1998).
Successive governments in Brazilian history have been ruling the county solely for the rich. During
the last centuries most part of governmental assistance was directed to owners of big industries, great
landowners and, more recently, bankers and financial speculators, and despite Brazil being rich in
natural resources, the majority of Brazilian society is poor and 11% of the population still lives under
the poverty line (Databank.worldbank.org, 2011). Nowadays, more than 7 million families are denied
access to decent housing and about half of the population is not served with basic sanitation.
According to the UN, by 2020, 55 million people will be living in favelas in Brazil (UN, 2012).
MLB then proposes the urban land reform as a way to tackle this issue, an instrument part of a bigger
picture, that has to be used by the

Common Good Analysis
When looking up the definition of the common good, it simply reads the benefit for all. At first glance,
this really gets to the meaning of the common good. It doesn t revolve around the individual but the
collective individual. Furthermore, when the needs of the collective individual isn t cohesive, the
common good is fulfilling the needs of as many humans being as possible. Though in my definition of
the common good, I believe there is another layer to this definition. The common good can t be
achieved unless there is a community united on the same vision. Thus, the common good is tied to the
process of creating flourishing human beings. This can relate to Sandel s eighth chapter in Justice:
What the Right Thing to Do. In this chapter, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He writes, What really is the moral significance of national boundaries? In terms of sheer need, the
billion people around the world who live on less than a dollar a day are worse off than [American]
poor, (238). We may be Americans or Mexicans, or Dubuquers or East Dubuquers, but we are all God
s children. This universality is often forgotten when the common good of different communities are
conflicting. For example, one can be born on the North side of the Rio Grande River along the
Mexican and American border and receive all the benefits from being an American citizen. Someone
born on the South side of the river might someday become jobless and seek work to survive illegally
in America. Thus, some might say the common good of America is to stop this immigrant from
coming to preserve jobs for American workers. In this scenario, Sandel asks, Why should we protect
our own most vulnerable workers if it means denying job opportunities to people from Mexico who
are even less well off? (232). Therefore, in situations like these, it might seem like the common good
of a community had been infringed. However, it seems to be problematic to individualize the common
good in regards to specific communities. Even when communities have conflicting needs, sometimes
the common good results in the community with more power to suffer a little. Consequently, we must
broaden our common good umbrella and apply it to all of God s

Gatorade Lab Report
Background
The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called
photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and
carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to
allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a
home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being
given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question
being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth?
My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly
than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains
water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and
electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the
plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade.
Procedure
Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal
depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Every day, for 33 days, each plant received one half
tablespoon of the specified liquid. Beans one and two got one half tablespoon of water each,

The Cause of the Asian Financial Crisis
This is a review of the political reasons that caused the Asian Financial Crisis in 1997. The review is
made on 5 papers by 5 authors on the subject.
Introduction
The Asian Crisis of 1997 and 1998 affected many of the East Asian and South East Asian countries
surprised many. This was due to the fact that in the early and mid 1990s these same countries were
lauded as model economies with high Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Yet within a space of a few
months in mid 1997, the currency crisis become a financial/economic crisis as many of these countries
currencies were greatly devalued resulting in the contraction of their economies. However, the
severity of the Asian Crisis was not uniformly felt.

Due to this, their states were strong for their struggle to industrialize but weak because of the web of
enmeshment; they are semi sovereign states (Cummings, 1999).
The end of the cold war meant that America no longer had to rely so much on Japan and Korea to safe
guard against the advancement of communist in South East Asia. Therefore from early 1990s,
America has pushed for these countries to adopt multilateral economies (i.e. be more open to accept
American goods and investment). However, Japan and Korea were resistant to this new form of
economic policy.
Though no actual action by American was provided in the paper that resulted in the Asian Crisis, the
author does state that the crisis allowed America, through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to
implement their economic model to Korea. This was done to maintain American s hegemony in Asia,
which before the crisis may have shifted to Japan. That is one of the reasons provided by the author on
why America was firm in its refusal to allow the Asian Fund proposed by Japan to materialise.

Willie Reed Racism
Thesis: The life of Willie Reed shows a different kind of truth within the Jim Crow South, the
determination of a man s soul, and his outright righteousness towards humanity. Reconstruction
defined oppression for Southern African Americans. Abolishing slavery resulted in backlash and more
intolerance to minorities. The South s image tarnished by the institution of slavery did not alter the
social confides of its representatives. African Americans gained freedom, however, their livelihood did
not change. Generations of African Americans, in the South, endured discrimination as the white
population obscured their progress. However, the popular narrative set by the elitist whites would not
endure without conflict. The life of Willie Reed shows a different kind of truth within the Jim Crow
South, the determination of a man s soul, and his righteousness towards humanity. Paul Ortiz
interviewed Mississippi native, Willie Reed, for a study on African Americans living conditions during
the Jim Crow South. Mr. Reed, a prominent African American man, gained notary in Indianola,
Mississippi as a self taught craftsman. His interview showcases a different light in the culture of the
Jim Crow South. A man with deep rooted religious convictions who did not endure the typical
intolerance of the white South. Mississippi portrays the typical footprint of discrimination in the
South. Once the staple of King Cotton , Mississippi embodies the accounts of Civil Rights injustice.

  • 2. Tesco Marketing INTRODUCTION Marketing is essentially a matching process between the needs and expectations of customers, and the organization s ability and capacity to satisfy them. One of the main points of this process is the marketing planning. The purpose of marketing planning and its principal focus are the identification and creation of competitive advantage. Marketing planning is the planned application of marketing resources to achieve marketing objectives. In other words, it is the written document that describes your advertising and marketing efforts for the coming year; it includes a statement of the marketing situation, a discussion of target markets and company positioning and a description of the marketing mix you intend to use to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Add to that a high rate of unemployment causes a drop in effective demand for goods, that demand requiring for the production of goods. While these economic factors are largely outside the control of Tesco, they have an undeniable impact on the company business performance and its marketing decisions. Tesco operates in a global world and is now located in several countries, and this international business is still growing, but it remains dependent on the UK market. This excessive concentration on a single market exposes them to risks and would be negatively affected by any slowdown in the UK food market (as the crisis of mad cow in the 1990s) Finally, the economic crisis, which is still current, tends to reduce the purchasing power of consumers, who are much more reluctant and afraid to spend more than they can. New technologies have had a great impact. For instance, online shopping has become a major factor in Tesco s recent success. Technology is the basis for the development of many products in the Tesco range. These new technologies have provided consumers than the company itself. Consumer satisfaction is higher because services are more personalized and responsive to each and shopping becomes more enjoyable and seems less arduous. To obtain customer satisfaction, Tesco has put in place in its stores the following technologies: ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These women issued what became known as the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolution s, and 11 pt. document outlining the demand for equal rights. Al of the articles of the Declaration passed except for the right to vote. It was widely believed at that time, that women were both physically and mentally inferior to men, and therefore should not have the right to vote. Anthony, a leader in the movement, met a wealthy businessman named George Francis Train while campaigning in Kansas. He offered her the money to launch a suffrage newspaper. In return he would be allowed to write a column about economics. Thus the Revolution was born. It s motto was Men, their rights and nothing more; women, their rights and nothing less. nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp; nbsp;Lucy Stone and a group of conservative suffragists broke away from Anthony s National Woman s suffrage Association and founded the American Woman Suffrage Association. The NWSA attracted younger and more radical women who worked for a constitutional amendment to get the vote. The AWSA directed its efforts toward getting states to give women the right to vote. Anthony believed that this would take to long and tried to the the courts to declare that voting is the right of all citizens. She based this belief on the fact that the 14th amendment made women citizens. In 1872 she went to the polls and cast her ballet for president. Two weeks later she was arrested for voting illegally. • 4. The Nursing And Midwifery Council The Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) (2008) states that nursing care must be evidence or best practise based. In order to excellently provide such care Boswell and Cannon (2009, p. 2 7) states that nurses must base their delivery of care on the most current, up to date health information available and rigorous nursing knowledge. According to Melnyk Fineout Overholt (2005) defines Evidence based practise (EBP) as a problem solving approach to clinical practise that integrates: A systematic search for and critical appraisal of the most relevant evidence to answer a burning clinical question, one s own clinical expertise and patient preferences and values. The benefits of EBP include resolving problems in the clinical setting; provide clinicians with evidence based data, introducing innovation, Achieve excellence in care delivery and improves efficacy and reducing variation in clinical performance. It is therefore vital for students to be able to evaluate and critique research papers in order for them to regulate the validity of a study and to apply theories to practise. A research critique measures the value and importance of a study and this is going to be determined by evaluating the strengths and weaknesses of the study (Brockopp Tolsma, 2003, p. 400). Critical appraisal is the process of carefully and systematically examining research to judge its trustworthiness, and its value and relevance in a particular context (Astin 2009). Comparing Pygmalion And The Makeover, By George Bernard Shaw No matter if a person is a reader of Pygmalion, written by George Bernard Shaw, or a viewer of The Makeover, it is understood both Eliza Doolittle and Elliot Doolittle are in need of a transformation. Throughout both the book and film, both characters were going through drastic changes in life. In the play, Pygmalion, Eliza Doolittle, living in London England, was considered an illiterate, poor girl. Eliza is a girl that stands at a flower shop and sells flowers. Hannah is competing against a local weather man for a Congress position. As the film continues, Hannah s outcome is not so great; she loses to the local weather man. Hannah Higgins is compared to Henry Higgins, in Pygmalion, because she is grumpy most of the time. After her recent loss, Hannah and Colleen Pickering were back at the office reviewing. Elliot Doolittle, the local beer distributor, walked by. He was speaking in a language nobody could understand. Hannah walked up to him telling him his speaking was not correct. He was extremely offended by her comment and walked away. The local weather man, competing for the role, never got the weather right, so the day he made his speech was not any different. He did not know of any thunderstorms in the area, so he died from a lightning strike. Hannah Higgins was, then, eligible to be in the race again. People would not vote for her, though, so she had to find some way to win the race. Her perfect solution was to get Elliot Doolittle in the race. The only problem with him was he was not well dressed and could not speak fluently. Hannah had also offended him earlier, so the chances of him doing this favor for her was not ... • 7. Superheros Influence On American Culture Superheros have been in the American culture since the 1900 s. They were first showcased in comics and over the years have made it to the big screen. Comic books and superheros have made a huge impact on American life relating to real life events. Since the early 1900 s comic books have influenced the American society during harsh times leaving the people with a sense of hope, comic book superheros also relate to epic heroes and Thor is a great example due to the strength and courage he demonstrates. The Golden age of comic books could be one of the most important. This was the age of the first superhero ever. In The History of funnies in America, it says. • 8. The Issue Of Availability And Quality Of The Information... 4. Discuss the issue of availability and quality of the information that you base scenarios on. In order for any scenario to be successful, the type of information used must be current, relevant and reliable. If this is not the case then your scenario will not be effective at all, leading to a disastrous event which might even proceed to an organisation losing a lot of money eventually closing down. So carefully analysis of the type of information received and from which source is this information received from must be considered. When developing a scenario, a deep insightful research must be done in order to gather as much data as possible; from this data serious analysis is done to scan the data and only taking that which is useful (which now becomes useful information) in creating a scenario. The information needed here is mostly about that relating to the future, so hence such information will be hard to find or come up with. This is where the help of experts and external advisors comes to play, in order to verify the information you have and also add into your information. Companies usually have management information systems which they use to get the information need, and in these management information systems there are feathers of scenarios built in, to make the retrieval of information to be used in a scenario easier. Another way of getting the right type of information for running scenarios would be through other applications such as spread sheets. Since we are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

She has paved the way for many generations of women to have a voice when they once wouldn t. It is essential to realize that one can t discuss feminism and black power without discussing Angela Davis. The reason I chose Angela Davis is because she is a household name that I have always heard, but had never known much of. I think it s deeply important to understand the impact she s had on the feminist movement, specifically for women of color. Since she grew up around such a heavy influence of Communist ideals, Davis developed a mindset geared towards equal rights at a very young age. Davis views started coming through in her academics at a very young age as well, in high school Davis did everything she could to start to an interracial study group, the group was harassed, and then disbanded by the police. Eventually Davis would go onto start herself a legacy that is greatly inspired by her mother. She would join the Black Panther Party after a horrible tragedy. In 1963, four black girls were killed in a bombing of a church, the bombing took place in her hometown and it became known as the 16th Street Baptist Church Bombing. This sparked a passion in Davis for philosophy because she was personally affected by the bombing, she knew two of the people killed in it. • 10. How Art Follow One Of The Five Formal Elements Of Art All aspects of art follow one of the five formal elements of art. The elements are line, shape, texture, color, and balance. Some elements are subdued, but some paintings have elements that are very obvious. With the artists use of these elements he states what his style is, as well as, the use of medium, and color that directs the viewer s eye to a specific area of the painting. I will choose paintings to show these elements, how they are used, and what idea the artist is trying to show, and give my impressions. The first element I will address is shape. There are regular shapes that are geometric and irregular shapes that show motion. I have chosen, for shape, Little Yellow Horses by Franz Marc, shown on page 829. This painting was completed in 1912. The medium is oil on canvas in the Expressionism style. It is currently displayed at Staatsgalerie, Stuttgart, Germany. Here we have a painting of three yellow horses with exaggerated curvature and is composed of open circles. The artist saw yellow as a happy color and thought animals were more beautiful than man. The curves are accentuated by the black manes of the horses. The two front horses have an added open circle with their heads being down. The horse in the background has just a slight curve of his back and the arc of his mane. In this work, at first glance, is a sea of yellow, black and circles. Upon a closer look, the artist shows the beauty of the horse. The yellow along with the blue and pink ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To many film historians, these men are credited with history s first public film screening. It is worth noticing that the Lumiére brothers were responsible for every aspect of their films. However, as the film industry evolved throughout the years, these different steps became more complex and needed to be split into three separate stages: production, distribution, and exhibition. The first stage, production, can be broken down into four separate parts: development, pre production, production, and post production. Portfolio Theory: Markowitz contribution showed that the benefits of diversification depend not just on risking individual assets but also on how the asset returns interact with each other, or the correlation between returns. E.g. A combination of investments in Umbrellas and Ice Creams will eliminate the risk of one another, i.e., the low returns from ice creams in rainy season will be compensated by the umbrella sales. High returns in one industry, in this case, always offset low returns in the other to give a positive return with certainty because returns on the two assets are inversely correlated. Risk of a portfolio (combination of shares) depends on the correlation between the expected return of every pair of shares in a portfolio. Correlation varies between +1 and 1. Thus a perfectly positively correlated portfolio would mean a +1 and a negatively correlated portfolio would mean 1. In a positively correlated portfolio the expected return would move in the same direction in the same proportion at all times, however in a negatively correlated portfolio the returns would move in the opposite direction (J Ogilvie B Koch 2002). Thus, bigger and better computers were needed to manage the data that was generated. During the last centuries most part of governmental assistance was directed to owners of big industries, great landowners and, more recently, bankers and financial speculators, and despite Brazil being rich in natural resources, the majority of Brazilian society is poor and 11% of the population still lives under the poverty line (Databank.worldbank.org, 2011). Nowadays, more than 7 million families are denied access to decent housing and about half of the population is not served with basic sanitation. According to the UN, by 2020, 55 million people will be living in favelas in Brazil (UN, 2012). MLB then proposes the urban land reform as a way to tackle this issue, an instrument part of a bigger picture, that has to be used by the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 30. Common Good Analysis When looking up the definition of the common good, it simply reads the benefit for all. At first glance, this really gets to the meaning of the common good. It doesn t revolve around the individual but the collective individual. Furthermore, when the needs of the collective individual isn t cohesive, the common good is fulfilling the needs of as many humans being as possible. Though in my definition of the common good, I believe there is another layer to this definition. The common good can t be achieved unless there is a community united on the same vision. Thus, the common good is tied to the process of creating flourishing human beings. This can relate to Sandel s eighth chapter in Justice: What the Right Thing to Do. In this chapter, ... In terms of sheer need, the billion people around the world who live on less than a dollar a day are worse off than [American] poor, (238). We may be Americans or Mexicans, or Dubuquers or East Dubuquers, but we are all God s children. This universality is often forgotten when the common good of different communities are conflicting. For example, one can be born on the North side of the Rio Grande River along the Mexican and American border and receive all the benefits from being an American citizen. Someone born on the South side of the river might someday become jobless and seek work to survive illegally in America. Thus, some might say the common good of America is to stop this immigrant from coming to preserve jobs for American workers. In this scenario, Sandel asks, Why should we protect our own most vulnerable workers if it means denying job opportunities to people from Mexico who are even less well off? (232). Therefore, in situations like these, it might seem like the common good of a community had been infringed. However, it seems to be problematic to individualize the common good in regards to specific communities. Even when communities have conflicting needs, sometimes the common good results in the community with more power to suffer a little. Consequently, we must broaden our common good umbrella and apply it to all of God s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 31. Gatorade Lab Report Background The growth and survival of a plant depends on the reactions that occur internally called photosynthesis. Photosynthesis is a reaction that captures the sun s energy and converts it, water, and carbon dioxide into glucose, with a byproduct of oxygen. Glucose is a sugar that provides energy to allow for a plant to grow and live. This experiment is to test how photosynthesis can be sped up with a home solution. The variable being changed in this experiment is the solution that the plant is being given. In this instance, some of the plants will be given Gatorade, rather than water. The question being asked is, How well will a solution found in the home affect plant growth? My hypothesis is that, if a plant is given Gatorade instead of water, then it will grow more quickly than if the plant is just given water. This is because of the components of Gatorade. Gatorade contains water, a key component of plant growth. But, because Gatorade contains various vitamins, sugars, and electrolytes, the plant should already be supplied with some of the products of photosynthesis, so the plant should produce sugars at a normal rate, plus have the additional bonus from the Gatorade. Procedure Four cups of equal size were filled with one cup of garden soil. Lima beans were planted at an equal depth (one inch as instructed on the bag). Every day, for 33 days, each plant received one half tablespoon of the specified liquid. Beans one and two got one half tablespoon of water each, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The end of the cold war meant that America no longer had to rely so much on Japan and Korea to safe guard against the advancement of communist in South East Asia. Therefore from early 1990s, America has pushed for these countries to adopt multilateral economies (i.e. be more open to accept American goods and investment). However, Japan and Korea were resistant to this new form of economic policy. Though no actual action by American was provided in the paper that resulted in the Asian Crisis, the author does state that the crisis allowed America, through the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to implement their economic model to Korea. This was done to maintain American s hegemony in Asia, which before the crisis may have shifted to Japan.
