Post Polio Research Paper
Epidemics have initial devastating consequences; however, what about the patients that survive?
According to Robin Howard in Poliomyelitis and the Postpolio Syndrome (2005), the World Health
Organization (WHO) discussed a significant drop in polio cases between 1988 and 2003 due to
increased immunizations. WHO identified that although there was a drop from 350,000 to 900 cases
worldwide, polio is still considered an epidemic in six third world countries. While its important to
understand polio and its initial symptoms its equally important to understand that polio survivors may
develop significant symptoms decades later; this classified as PPS. Suffers are more likely to have
surgical procedures related to their age as a result of deterioration. Although polio has lost its grip on
the world population as an imminent epidemic threat, the potential for anesthesia providers to
encounter PPS patients is real and present. If health care providers want to avoid the cliché history
repeats itself, its imperative to understand PPS is present and can be invisible.
Polio
Understanding post polio syndrome cannot be explained without investigating polio. Polio, also
known as paralytic poliomyelitis, which was a devastating epidemic that resulted in patients suffering
paralysis and possibly death. Richard Underwood, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The polio virus helped to lay the road for the sanitation reform because it was transmitted by fecal oral
route. During the incubation phase of 7 to 14 days, replication occurred in the pharynx and intestines
before initiating an immune response. Donna Wheeler (2011), identified three subtypes of polio:
abortive, nonparalytic, and paralytic. Abortive polio symptoms are described as flu like symptoms and
nonparalytic polio resembles viral meningitis. Paralytic polio, on the other hand resulted in muscle
pain that could eventually result in

Forms Of Sexual Hypocrisy In George Eliot s Middlemarch
The 19th century literature depicts the bodily desire largely rather than being enunciated explicitly.
The forms of love and desire in this era has philosophical, historical and aesthetic contexts. Visual arts
and literature has shaped love in this time. The Victorian period on one hand where publicly used to
have a respectable discussion on sexuality, on the other hand had undeniable modesty in matters of
speech, gesture and clothing.
There was once a society which is still held above all others to be the paradigm of sexual hypocrisy.
An ostensibly, even ostentatiously virtuous society which furtively broke its own rules of conduct; a
society which had nothing to say on sexual matters but left them but left them to the professionals.
The summary image of Victorian Society is extraordinarily tenacious.
The novel Middlemarch written by George Eliot (1871 1872) enjoyed immense popularity as it
dominated the European Literature in the 18th century. Eliot showcases social values and personal
importance by theorizing desire in her novel. The scene between Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw
in the library at Ludwick, that scene which lends itself to a dynamic representative reading to desire s
function in Eliot s work. In An Erotic s of Detachment: Middlemarch and Novel reading as a Critical
Practice David Kurnick places Dorothea in the role of the restless and perpetually desirous novel
reader. Kurnick argues that Middlemarch as a 19th century novel depicting English society

Importance Of Visit To A Shinto Church
I decided to write about my visit to a Shinto Church as my cultural experience. The church I visited is
called Izumo Taisha Mission of Hawaii. I had actually been to this church many times since I was a
child to participate in Japanese cultural events, but I have little knowledge of what the Shinto religion
actually practices. This is also the shrine where my family goes for our New Year s blessing ritual.
Since turning to Christianity, I still liked to attend the church s events and New Year s ritual, but other
than that, I just didn t have the desire to learn more about Shinto. Based on my fieldwork into the
appearance, clothing, and rituals of Shinto, I theorize that Shinto is religion to focuses highly on
keeping one s body and soul pure and in good fortune through worship to multiple God s.
When I visited the church, I had scheduled the meet the Bishop, Daiya Amano. He has been a friend
of my family for a long time, and he was happy to share the Shinto culture despite knowing I had
already chosen my belief. Shinto is one of the two primary religions of Japan, and the church is a good
place for tourist and local Japanese to pay their respects to. Shinto is a religion of polytheism and
animism, and thus, believes in God s of animate and inanimate objects. Shinto believes that every
aspect of life has a God in charge. There s a God of nature, weather, business, knowledge, war,
fishing, etc. Shinto practices a worship to these God s so that they may bring good fortune and

Early Moorish Architecture In America
Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and Spanish (Andalusian)
Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was largely fantastical rather than
archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This type of architecture in America was
seen as very exotic and many of the buildings constructed in this style were non traditional. The
details of the early Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian
styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about Moorish Styles.
During the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the Oriental Style, while Asian styles
were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style

6 + 1 Traits Of Writing Analysis
Education Northwest created 6+1 Traits of Writing as a method for teaching and assessing writing.
This model consists of six writing qualities, ideas, voice, organization, conventions, word choice, and
fluency, and one appearance quality, presentation. The main theme and the details of the writing are
presented in the ideas of the piece. The ideas describe how clearly the writer shows his thoughts. The
internal structure of the writing is presented through the organization , which lays out the sequence of
the story, its strength and logic, and the connections in the written material. The writer expresses his
feelings trough the voice . The voice distinguishes the writer as who he is. Through the word choice ,
the writer articulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Too often students think that they cannot write and that is because they do not know what is expected
of them. With proper modeling and guiding, the 6+1 traits of writing helps students develop their
skills. The rubrics aid students in evaluating their own writing and make improvements. These traits,
which should be taught in English classes, can and should be applied in other classes, such as math,
science, and history. For example, in math class students demonstrate sentence fluency when they
explain their reasoning while solving problems. In science class, students practice and use the
convention trait when applying formulas and assigning units of measurements, the same way they use
grammar and punctuation in English classes. Although 6+1 Traits of Writing has seven essential traits,
which should be taught and assessed by English teachers, in my opinion, content area teachers,
included myself, do not have to use all of them concurrently. In Math or Science classes, I can focus
on one or two traits, depending on the information which is being taught during a certain lesson. A
great way to implement and use this model would be writing a research paper with a theme from
history or science in collaboration with the English teachers, whose focus would be teaching the
sentence fluency and conventions. Six plus one traits of writing can be applied in core classes, but
only if it is taught in English Language Arts

Rules And Controls In Anthem By Ayn Rand
Anthem s Society Anthem is a book written by Ayn Rand and is about a boy who lives in a future
society where there are numerous rules and controls which keep people in line. It is forbidden to be
alone therefore everyone is required to say plural pronouns and it is illegal to say personal pronouns.
In real life, the present is the past in anthem and is called the unmentionable times. The extensive rules
may be present because of what the people of the unmentionable times has done to the Earth like
pollution or destroying other life on Earth so the new society was created to fix this and create a new
population which would not pollute the Earth and destroy the wildlife as much as their counterparts
from the unmentionable times. The main character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The rule of never being alone would affect the generations by never having people be able to do things
by themselves and let everyone be lazier by doing only half of their work, because there is always
another person to do the rest. The controls would make the future generation s minds to think that
everything is ok and start to obey the leaders therefore creating a generation of, technically, slaves
which would whatever you want them to do and this is cruel and they should be able to do what they
want, go where they want, and see what they want. The generations ahead could be physically
changed too by being more skinny and less strong, because all they do is eat, work, and sleep which
could affect the brain and other organs to not work properly due to the lack of nutrients and exercise.
In the society of many rules and controls almost everyone is short and small due to the lack of
activities they do Ever have the Teachers and the Leaders pointed to us and frowned and said: There is
evil in your bones, Equality 7 2521, for your body has grown beyond the bodies of your brothers.
(Rand 18) Overall the effect of including these rules and controls would prove to be bad for the future

Essay about The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine...
The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine Mansfield s Bliss
Katherine Mansfield s Bliss is quite an interesting story full of underlying meanings and themes. Upon
a first reading, it seems to be a simple story of a woman who feels uncontainable bliss one day, only to
have it end when she discovers her husband is having an affair. Although this is a correct
interpretation, after a second reading, much more is apparent. Bliss is a story of the revelation of a
vibrant young woman, of criticism of society, and of sexual revolution.
In order to fully comprehend the work, we see that significance comes from small details. A tree is the
major symbol in this piece, and the details assist in understanding why the pear ... Show more content

Could this awry feeling be coming from an unexpected extramarital affair in which Bertha s
significant other is involved? The audience s first glimpse at the affair that Harry, Bertha s husband, is
having may come when he phones home to say he will be late for their dinner party. He gives no
reasons for his tardiness, and his delayed arrival coincides with Miss Fulton s overdue entrance. Could
they have had a possible rendezvous before the dinner party? It is quite feasible.
It is also at this same time that the reader becomes aware of Bertha s yearning for her husband. It is
very evident in the line, She only wanted to get in touch with him for a moment (146). Bertha is
brimming with life, she wants to reach out and share it with someone. She tries to share it with her
baby, but all her feeling of bliss came back again, and again, she didn t know how to express it (146).
Bertha has trouble expressing these new feelings to others. The nanny is angry when Bertha wants to
feed the child, showing how little Bertha is involved in her daughter s life. The audience becomes
aware that Bertha and her husband are not intimate; they have more of a friendship and partnership.
With Bertha saying that she wanted to get in touch with Harry, an explanation for her feelings begins
to suggest itself; without her realizing what is happening, he sexual desire is brewing inside of her.
As Bertha dresses for dinner, she sees the

Jackie Robinson Essays
Jackie Robinson
Jackie Robinson and integration are two phrases that cannot be segregated. Whether he liked it or not,
he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major League
Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors shows,
amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every corner of the
land ; (Robinson 16). But this amazing triumph over the Jim Crow laws could only have been possible

The Dodgers got their name from the electric streetcars in Brooklyn that were so dangerous that
people had to be skilled amp;#8220;dodgers ; of them in order not to get run over. Why was Brooklyn
the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had transformed from a white
middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews. amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn
amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger faithful, Jews were probably far more ready
than any other major group, such as the Irish or the Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim
Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220 221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks
amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s belittlement of them and the similar discriminations
they both faced. Many of the Robinson amp;#8217;s friends were Jewish, perhaps because
amp;#8220;the Robinsons found Jews far more ready than other whites to accept them socially ;
(Rampersad 221). Jackie Robinson was able to live successfully in Brooklyn, and not only because he
was a great athletic superstar but because he had many friends and supporters that didn amp;#8217;t
consider him an outsider. They let him live amongst them, supported him, and befriended him and his
family. Rachel Robinson (Jackie amp;#8217;s wife) sums it up by saying that, amp;#8220;We didn

It imposes the obligation to perform professional services to the best of the auditor s ability with
concern for the best interest of the public.
1. I think that auditors should be held liable for failing to discover fraud. There are many ways the
fraud could have been discovered over the years if the auditors performed an objective audit that
followed rules and regulations. It is an auditor s obligation to perform an audit with objectivity,
skepticism, independence, and objectivity. Ernst amp; Whinney failed to meet these criteria. The
auditors did not follow professional skepticism because when Minkow asked them to sign a
confidentiality agreement to not follow up with any contractors, insurance companies, or building
owners. This is not something to simply accept from Minkow. Ernst clearly did not perform a
thorough audit and did not perform the necessary tests for reasonableness. 2. Ernst and Whinney
should have seen a red flag from the start because there was an unreasonable growth in his company
and he lived an extremely extravagant lifestyle. Minkow also had problems meeting his loan debt and
there were many inconsistencies in ZZZZ invoices. I think that the relationship between Ernst and

Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci
Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an
emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary due
to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given that
different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the poems
La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and Mother in a
Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how poets living in
different times present love in their own unique approach.
La Belle Dame sans Merci is a ballad written by English poet John Keats in the year 1819, where ...

When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did love, /
And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the idea of
unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse with him to
favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him. On the other hand
an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the knight s heartbeat, this
represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the relationship and sexual
intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in
this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love between the woman and the knight will not last
long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are
gone! also signifies his role in the Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual
expression and obsessive nature towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display
the sincere and direct emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The
dependent clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has
disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La Belle
Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits for the
woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing her for a day
does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is eager to see
Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has vanished,
disappeared. This poem can

Military Apprenticeship Paper
United Services Military Apprenticeship Program (USMAP)
Veteran s today face many challenges as they seek civilian jobs, according to the Bureau of Labor
Statistics 2014 report more than 190,000 of the 2.8 million Gulf War II Veterans cannot find work,
USMAP could help resolve this issue (Watson, 2014). Senior Enlisted Leaders need to understand the
advantages USMAP in order to provide transitioning service members from active duty to civilian life.
This paper will provide the background information, discussion, and recommendation for the
increased use of USMAP.
Background Information
Veteran unemployment is an ever increasing issue for service members departing from active duty.
USMAP established as a formal military training program in 1999 through the consolidation of the
U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Naval apprenticeship programs, and the U.S. Coast Guard apprenticeship
programs in 2007, the program supplies service members with certification as Journey Workers per
standards of the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) in specific occupational fields. USMAP could
seriously assist in reducing the number of unemployed veterans. With the background information
provided, the discussion will provide further information.

Currently there are nearly 64,000 active apprentices enrolled. Service members are able to choose the
trade they pursue as long as it relates to their military occupation. Upon completion of the program,
participants receive a nationally recognized Completion Certificate to help attract employers when a
service member returns to the civilian workforce (Aleshire, 2012). A current trend in USMAP shows
an increase in personnel registering in the program, however due to current deployments and
schedules many members are not completing for the following reasons (Shatkin ,

performers who are interrogating space through movements, but it also extends to an audience who

on how the dancers engage to depict the site through various sensory receptors and the latter part

In Dusk the performance is designed imaginatively to retrace the histories of the place and to
acknowledge the land (as evidenced in set of movement vocabularies built upon bhumi namaskar),
agreed by Harrison and Subramaniam. Both Subramaniam and Harrison s narratives contained
abundant tactile metaphors about having contacts with grass underfoot (Fig 5.5.1.1). Subramaniam
informed me that: We had choreographed and rehearsed in a studio, so the texture of the grass made it
difficult to move initially (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013).
From the transcription I found that the dancers variously depicted the site as: soft , resistant , hard ,
uneven (texture), huge , small , magnanimous (size), airy , fresh , stuffy (olfactory), illuminated , dark
(visibility) and sacred (belief). As most of the dance artists and dancers agreed that it was meant to pay
tribute to the site, I narrow down my discussion to the concept of sacredness drawing on a set of three
selected photos and narratives. Subramaniam said that: The stones felt sacred, each was feeling like a
deity with personality and compassion. We were blessed with extraordinarily good weather and the
sun provided perfect lighting (Facebook interview, April 29, 2013). Dusk expands the concept of
sacredness through cultural and religious appropriations. In Fig 5.5.1.1 the proximate vicinity of the
stones forces the dancers to experience them as skin. Their gorgeous silk

They believed that the king would come to their aid but this was far from the truth as Thomas Pane
proves. Lille efficiently establishes that the idea of independence spread almost overnight, it did not
come easily. He take us back and reveals things that we may not have previously known, he shows us
his true colors in valuing Common Sense and its importance. Pane attacked the king saying that he
was just as responsible as parliament for the state of the colonies. After Thomas Paine was condemned
by the British after the revolution, he became the sole reason for the American Revolution and their
thirst for independence. Liell did an outstanding job in reporting most of Paine s life before and after
his fame in America. Never before has as single document had such an impact on people that they
took action for something they believed in. Common Sense was and will forever be one of the most
valuable writing in all of our history I feel it can easily without hesitation be compared to the
Declaration of independence. They are both based on the same subject matter for one goal for the
colonies to breach the oppression of the King. Lille says O! ye that love mankind! Ye that dare oppose
not only the tyranny but the tyrant, stand forth! Every spot of the world is overrun with oppression.

some very important violations in employment law. This case study is based out of a law firm that has
hired a partner who did not disclose that she had a child and the case eludes that she is a single parent.
Based on the case study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her is starting to
complain about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this end the partner
has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child when she interviewed
(Walsh, 2013, p. 96). The next issue that arises in this case study is that the male partner that hired her

employment. Company pay raises and promotions are based on numerous factors, only one of which

Code Of Ethics Paper
A code of ethics is one of many documents an organization will develop to establish how they will
conduct business. In many organizations, documents such as the mission statement stand alone and are
reviewed annually, put on company letter head, passed out on business cards and so forth. To increase
the visibility of an organization, I would take steps to add bullets from the organizations ethics
program to things such as business cards, put it on the corporate website, have it as a screen saver on
all corporate computers and even integrate it into the voice mail of phones and when callers are placed
on hold. I would ensure the organization looks at its corporate ethics in a similar fashion as this look at
their vision statement.
To ensure the viability and sustainability of a corporate ethics program, Man Fong, McGeorge,
Loosemore (2004) have broken the step of implementing a corporate ethics program into five step.
The steps are as follows: Objectives, Creation, Content, Implementation and Enforcement, and
Administration. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Several authors indicate that the development through implementation phase of a code of ethics is a
way for an organization to share their commitment to the stakeholders as an ethical organization

Way To Love
Are You Pleasing Others But Giving Up Yourself? By Diane Corriette Jan 6, 2009 In Anthony De
Mello s book The Way To Love he talks alot about our attachment to people and things. In particular
he mentions our need to be loved by another as if we would die if they did not exist. When we give up
who we are to please another person we do what I call prostitute our being. We are no longer ourselves
but instead begin to conform to what they want/expect of us. Even when we think we know what it is
another person wants there are no guarantees that we will get it right so we live in constant fear of
making a mistake. That is no way to live and it is certainly no way to love. I am certainly no expert on

suddenly reduced to nothing worth looking at when you visit your friend. This is why placing your

make you feel great and other times when it won t! It will never help fill the void for what you are
truly looking for. It provides temporary relief from feeling like nothing but at any moment if you lost
your precious thing you will drop right back down again. Plus you have to work hard to keep it,
maintain it and replace it with something better. You will worry about people stealing, breaking and
ruining it and this worry will cause ill health. How much easier is it to focus on building our inner
strength. In knowing that when we spend time on our own personal growth we can get to a place of
inner strength that will not be shaken in any circumstance or with any person. We are connected with a
Source of power that guides us and supports us in our goal to manifest our intentions. This ever

Religious Tourism
Mosques and Kramats
Kramats and mosques are an important part of South African heritage as they represent the second
oldest religion introduced to the country. The first Muslims brought to the cape arrived as Malay
slaves, who practiced their faith in secret until the early 19th century. Prisoners who were fighting for
freedom in the Dutch East Indies were also brought to the Cape. They included teachers of Islam.
Some of these holy men were of noble birth and those who died were buried in shrines known as
Kramats or Mazaars, of which there are about 30 in and around Cape Town. Kramats in South Africa
can be found from Muizenberg to Mowbray, with four on signal hill alone. The most visited by

Therefore, when price falls the amount purchased increases. When price falls, the consumer s income
is in effect reduced and he has to curtail his expenditure on the commodity. So the amount purchased

wealth of the consumer increases. As in the case of inferior goods, the consumers become monetarily

Allegory In Veidt s Watchmen Moore And Gibbons
In Watchmen, Moore and Gibbons have a few subplots branching off of the main story. One of these
subplots centers on a newsvendor in New York City. A boy sitting close by is reading a pirate comic
book, and as the story moves forward, various panels and pieces of text from this comic interposed
with the real storyline. In this passage of Watchmen Moore and Gibbons utilize the gritty allegory of
the Sea Captain in the Black Freighter to foreshadow the ending of the graphic novel and to give the
reader more insight to the question raised throughout the entire story: Who watches the Watchmen?
On page nine of chapter five, the first thing the reader sees is the other comic in the Watchmen s
universe, the Black Freighter. The overarching plot ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is one of the key themes from Watchmen. The Watchmen, who use their time and effort attacking
people who they believe to be the cause of the recent murders, make hasty determinations of
culpability and impose their vigilante execution without any foresight were doomed to make mistakes.
And, in defending the innocents, this raises the questions: how many mistakes will be tolerated before
one is considered villainous? How many innocent civilians can one harm without becoming the very
monster being fought against? Moore and Gibbons were using the Watchmen not as a case for the
necessity for people to take justice upon themselves but to show the idea that vigilantes are essentially
destined to turn into the villains they fight against. The main story is the example of the message
contained within the Tales of the Black

Summary Of Kids React To Gay Marriage
fter watching the Kids React to Gay Marriage video, I was a little surprised that the kids reacted
positively on the subject of gay marriage. Furthermore, I did not think that kids were very educated on
gay marriage because, like the 7 year old, Sydney said, kids do not usually talk about that topic, but I
was astonished at how much was said by the children in the video. The video became interesting to me
when the speaker said there is a controversy on whether it is not right to compel a religion to listen to
the law if it conflicts against their religion, I saw the autonomy argument on this topic, which is why I
loved Addy s response, It is not your decision to make them not love each other and not marry each

Harry Potter Essay
Harry Potter In the past couple years, there has been a growing phenomenon in the world of children s
literature, this phenomenon is Harry Potter. J.K. Rowlings series of novels about a young wizard and
his years at Hogwarts School of Wizarding and Witchcraft, has become one of the most successful
children s book series of all time. Before reading any of the now four novels, one may find it hard to
believe that a children s novel may be so entertaining. But once one starts reading any of the four
books, it is plain to see why these books are so popular.
Before first reading a Harry Potter novel, I was skeptical that a children s book about an orphan
wizard going to school would be entertaining. But within 15 minutes I found ... Show more content on

Whether it is a fight for his life, winning a quidditch match, or just staying out of trouble, these novels
are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books have been such a
success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to maintain the readers
attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that while reading, the reader
wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling where life is anything but
ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one led by the characters of the
novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having extraordinary things happen and just
being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some. These novels have the ability to reignite the
long lost imaginations of adults, and keep the imaginations of children strong.
Although I am a strong supporter of this book series, I do find one thing wrong with the books. All the
novels have endings which are almost the same, Harry saves the day and Voldemort the major
antagonist gets defeated in one way or another. Also only Harry and his friends seem to be the ones
who go on adventures to defeat huge beasts or save family members from monsters known as
dementors, this to me makes the novel slightly unappealing but still one of

Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in
this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a
person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that
belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not
benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The
best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an
apartment.
Buying a house has some very good ownership benefits. As a buyer and not an actual ... Show more

Buying a house provides stability forever unless the owner decides to sell or to move into another
home in which the owner gains equity for selling. This is still a huge benefit. Owning a home is a very
huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can control
who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm systems and
everything that goes on in a person s home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner the option of
what is allowed and what goes on is controlled by the actual homeowner. If an issue comes up and the
owner has to move somewhere else then this is a huge benefit. As a seller a person can earn so much
money and it can build equity (Media, 2010). Usually homes sell for way more than the purchase
prices, especially if the owner has customized the home, in which was discussed earlier (RP Reality,
2011). The selling price could be a huge benefit to any owner who is selling their home and moving.
These benefits cannot be earned by an apartment renter. Buying a home is the best route to choose in
any situation. Buying a home means actually owning something. There is no more following another
person s rules, no more paying out unnecessary money. It means a sense of security and stability for a
person s family. It is the key to a better lifestyle. The benefits are all there. There is

root factors: The financial crisis, and subsequently the poor state of the economy prior to 1989, meant
that many farms and agricultural industries could not afford the chemicals required so traditional

country from many of the problem pests involved in farming on the mainland. The second factor
adding to the prosperity of the industry was the jump the Dominican Republic had on the organic food

To The Memory Of Some I Knew Who Are Dead And Who Loved...
The Easter Rising of 1916 occurred in Ireland in the midst of World War One, and the two events are
closely entwined. Many Irish people initially struggled to reconcile the politics of Irish nationalism
with Irish contributions to World War One. George Russell was one of the first to attempt to offer an
equal commemoration of both events. In 1917, Russell published his poem To the Memory of Some I
Knew Who are Dead and Who Loved Ireland in the Irish Times. This poem was a revised version of
Salutation, which Russell had written to commemorate the rebels of the Easter Rebellion. In the
revised version, Russell interspersed each stanza about the rebels with stanzas about Irish soldiers.
Russell unites these two great losses and their ideologies. He reveals the shared struggle in the trauma
of both events, forming the foundation for a collective memory and shared Irish identity. To the

especially because it brought fighting to Dublin. He notes that women, particularly poor women,
disliked the Volunteers, because many...had husbands and relations fighting for the British on the

  • 2. Post Polio Research Paper Epidemics have initial devastating consequences; however, what about the patients that survive? According to Robin Howard in Poliomyelitis and the Postpolio Syndrome (2005), the World Health Organization (WHO) discussed a significant drop in polio cases between 1988 and 2003 due to increased immunizations. WHO identified that although there was a drop from 350,000 to 900 cases worldwide, polio is still considered an epidemic in six third world countries. While its important to understand polio and its initial symptoms its equally important to understand that polio survivors may develop significant symptoms decades later; this classified as PPS. Suffers are more likely to have surgical procedures related to their age as a result of deterioration. Although polio has lost its grip on the world population as an imminent epidemic threat, the potential for anesthesia providers to encounter PPS patients is real and present. If health care providers want to avoid the cliché history repeats itself, its imperative to understand PPS is present and can be invisible. Polio Understanding post polio syndrome cannot be explained without investigating polio. Polio, also known as paralytic poliomyelitis, which was a devastating epidemic that resulted in patients suffering paralysis and possibly death. Richard Underwood, a ... During the incubation phase of 7 to 14 days, replication occurred in the pharynx and intestines before initiating an immune response. Donna Wheeler (2011), identified three subtypes of polio: abortive, nonparalytic, and paralytic. Abortive polio symptoms are described as flu like symptoms and nonparalytic polio resembles viral meningitis. • 3. Forms Of Sexual Hypocrisy In George Eliot s Middlemarch The 19th century literature depicts the bodily desire largely rather than being enunciated explicitly. The forms of love and desire in this era has philosophical, historical and aesthetic contexts. Visual arts and literature has shaped love in this time. The Victorian period on one hand where publicly used to have a respectable discussion on sexuality, on the other hand had undeniable modesty in matters of speech, gesture and clothing. There was once a society which is still held above all others to be the paradigm of sexual hypocrisy. An ostensibly, even ostentatiously virtuous society which furtively broke its own rules of conduct; a society which had nothing to say on sexual matters but left them but left them to the professionals. The summary image of Victorian Society is extraordinarily tenacious. The novel Middlemarch written by George Eliot (1871 1872) enjoyed immense popularity as it dominated the European Literature in the 18th century. Eliot showcases social values and personal importance by theorizing desire in her novel. The scene between Dorothea Brooke and Will Ladislaw in the library at Ludwick, that scene which lends itself to a dynamic representative reading to desire s function in Eliot s work. In An Erotic s of Detachment: Middlemarch and Novel reading as a Critical Practice David Kurnick places Dorothea in the role of the restless and perpetually desirous novel reader. Kurnick argues that Middlemarch as a 19th century novel depicting English society ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Importance Of Visit To A Shinto Church I decided to write about my visit to a Shinto Church as my cultural experience. The church I visited is called Izumo Taisha Mission of Hawaii. I had actually been to this church many times since I was a child to participate in Japanese cultural events, but I have little knowledge of what the Shinto religion actually practices. This is also the shrine where my family goes for our New Year s blessing ritual. Since turning to Christianity, I still liked to attend the church s events and New Year s ritual, but other than that, I just didn t have the desire to learn more about Shinto. Based on my fieldwork into the appearance, clothing, and rituals of Shinto, I theorize that Shinto is religion to focuses highly on keeping one s body and soul pure and in good fortune through worship to multiple God s. When I visited the church, I had scheduled the meet the Bishop, Daiya Amano. He has been a friend of my family for a long time, and he was happy to share the Shinto culture despite knowing I had already chosen my belief. Shinto is one of the two primary religions of Japan, and the church is a good place for tourist and local Japanese to pay their respects to. Shinto is a religion of polytheism and animism, and thus, believes in God s of animate and inanimate objects. Shinto believes that every aspect of life has a God in charge. There s a God of nature, weather, business, knowledge, war, fishing, etc. Shinto practices a worship to these God s so that they may bring good fortune and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Early Moorish Architecture In America Moorish architecture is the Western term used for describing North African and Spanish (Andalusian) Islamic architecture. Moorish style architecture in America was largely fantastical rather than archaeological and often combined with many other styles. This type of architecture in America was seen as very exotic and many of the buildings constructed in this style were non traditional. The details of the early Moorish Style were usually blended with forms from Egyptian, Turkish, and Indian styles. This blending occurred before there was much archaeological awareness about Moorish Styles. During the nineteenth century, these styles were referred to as the Oriental Style, while Asian styles were referred to as Chinese. The Oriental Style ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. 6 + 1 Traits Of Writing Analysis Education Northwest created 6+1 Traits of Writing as a method for teaching and assessing writing. This model consists of six writing qualities, ideas, voice, organization, conventions, word choice, and fluency, and one appearance quality, presentation. The main theme and the details of the writing are presented in the ideas of the piece. The ideas describe how clearly the writer shows his thoughts. The internal structure of the writing is presented through the organization , which lays out the sequence of the story, its strength and logic, and the connections in the written material. The writer expresses his feelings trough the voice . The voice distinguishes the writer as who he is. Through the word choice , the writer articulates ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Too often students think that they cannot write and that is because they do not know what is expected of them. With proper modeling and guiding, the 6+1 traits of writing helps students develop their skills. The rubrics aid students in evaluating their own writing and make improvements. These traits, which should be taught in English classes, can and should be applied in other classes, such as math, science, and history. For example, in math class students demonstrate sentence fluency when they explain their reasoning while solving problems. In science class, students practice and use the convention trait when applying formulas and assigning units of measurements, the same way they use grammar and punctuation in English classes. Although 6+1 Traits of Writing has seven essential traits, which should be taught and assessed by English teachers, in my opinion, content area teachers, included myself, do not have to use all of them concurrently. In Math or Science classes, I can focus on one or two traits, depending on the information which is being taught during a certain lesson. A great way to implement and use this model would be writing a research paper with a theme from history or science in collaboration with the English teachers, whose focus would be teaching the sentence fluency and conventions. Six plus one traits of writing can be applied in core classes, but only if it is taught in English Language Arts ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Rules And Controls In Anthem By Ayn Rand Anthem s Society Anthem is a book written by Ayn Rand and is about a boy who lives in a future society where there are numerous rules and controls which keep people in line. It is forbidden to be alone therefore everyone is required to say plural pronouns and it is illegal to say personal pronouns. In real life, the present is the past in anthem and is called the unmentionable times. The extensive rules may be present because of what the people of the unmentionable times has done to the Earth like pollution or destroying other life on Earth so the new society was created to fix this and create a new population which would not pollute the Earth and destroy the wildlife as much as their counterparts from the unmentionable times. The main character ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rule of never being alone would affect the generations by never having people be able to do things by themselves and let everyone be lazier by doing only half of their work, because there is always another person to do the rest. The generations ahead could be physically changed too by being more skinny and less strong, because all they do is eat, work, and sleep which could affect the brain and other organs to not work properly due to the lack of nutrients and exercise. • 9. Essay about The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine... The Metamorphosis of Bertha in Katherine Mansfield s Bliss Katherine Mansfield s Bliss is quite an interesting story full of underlying meanings and themes. Upon a first reading, it seems to be a simple story of a woman who feels uncontainable bliss one day, only to have it end when she discovers her husband is having an affair. Although this is a correct interpretation, after a second reading, much more is apparent. Bliss is a story of the revelation of a vibrant young woman, of criticism of society, and of sexual revolution. In order to fully comprehend the work, we see that significance comes from small details. A tree is the major symbol in this piece, and the details assist in understanding why the pear ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Could this awry feeling be coming from an unexpected extramarital affair in which Bertha s significant other is involved? The audience s first glimpse at the affair that Harry, Bertha s husband, is having may come when he phones home to say he will be late for their dinner party. He gives no reasons for his tardiness, and his delayed arrival coincides with Miss Fulton s overdue entrance. Could they have had a possible rendezvous before the dinner party? It is quite feasible. It is also at this same time that the reader becomes aware of Bertha s yearning for her husband. It is very evident in the line, She only wanted to get in touch with him for a moment (146). Bertha is brimming with life, she wants to reach out and share it with someone. She tries to share it with her baby, but all her feeling of bliss came back again, and again, she didn t know how to express it (146). Bertha has trouble expressing these new feelings to others. Whether he liked it or not, he played the star role in the integration of society during the time that he played Major League Baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers. His heroic journey that landed him in the Majors shows, amp;#8220;how integration has come to baseball and how it can be achieved in every corner of the land ; (Robinson 16). But this amazing triumph over the Jim Crow laws could only have been possible in New York as Robinson says, amp;#8220;Cooperstown, New York, and Birmingham, Alabama, are both in the Unites States. Why was Brooklyn the place that integration could occur? After World War Two, Brooklyn had transformed from a white middle class population to a mix of blacks, Latinos and Jews. amp;#8220;About half of Brooklyn amp;#8217;s population was Jewish; among the Dodger faithful, Jews were probably far more ready than any other major group, such as the Irish or the Italians, to identify with the fight against the Jim Crow embodied by Robinson ; (Rampersad 220 221). Obviously, the Jews related to the blacks amp;#8217; plight against society amp;#8217;s belittlement of them and the similar discriminations they both faced. Many of the Robinson amp;#8217;s friends were Jewish, perhaps because amp;#8220;the Robinsons found Jews far more ready than other whites to accept them socially ; (Rampersad 221). Jackie Robinson was able to live successfully in Brooklyn, and not only because he was a great athletic superstar but because he had many friends and supporters that didn amp;#8217;t consider him an outsider. I think that auditors should be held liable for failing to discover fraud. There are many ways the fraud could have been discovered over the years if the auditors performed an objective audit that followed rules and regulations. It is an auditor s obligation to perform an audit with objectivity, skepticism, independence, and objectivity. Ernst amp; Whinney failed to meet these criteria. The auditors did not follow professional skepticism because when Minkow asked them to sign a confidentiality agreement to not follow up with any contractors, insurance companies, or building owners. This is not something to simply accept from Minkow. Ernst clearly did not perform a thorough audit and did not perform the necessary tests for reasonableness. 2. • 13. Theme Of Love In La Belle Dame Sans Merci Bitter. Sweet. Tender. Love. This subjective idea may refer to a concept, a feeling, an attitude, an emotion, one could have towards another. Throughout history, one s perception on love may vary due to the ideology they were being indoctrinated with as well as their family background. Given that different historical periods may affect one s perception on their idea of love, an analysis on the poems La Belle Dame sans Merci by John Keats, My Last Duchess by Robert Browning, and Mother in a Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe, will be made in order to examine and explore how poets living in different times present love in their own unique approach. When the knight and the woman was having a sexual intercourse, She looked at him as she did love, / And made sweet moan The declarative, she looked at him as she did love expresses the idea of unrequited love. The woman may have only decided upon having a sexual intercourse with him to favour his sexual desires, yet it does not represent that she has an affection for him. On the other hand an iambic tetrameter is also used in the same quotation as a motif of the knight s heartbeat, this represents the excitement and passionate emotions he has within the relationship and sexual intercourse. A sense of negativity can be seen in the line And made sweet moan , the iambic dimeter in this line has a foreboding effect to it, hinting that love between the woman and the knight will not last long. Likewise to La Belle Dame sans Merci , Keats short poem The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! also signifies his role in the Romanticism movement by the reinforcement of his individual expression and obsessive nature towards his lover Fanny Brawne. This is evident when Keats display the sincere and direct emotions of himself in the title The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone! The dependent clause, and all its sweets are gone is a metaphor that the sweetness of their relationship has disappeared due to the distance between Keats and Brawne. This metaphor can be likened to La Belle Dame sans Merci through the knight s loneliness and sentimental emotions when he waits for the woman he loves. The intensifier all reinforces Keats desires to see Brawne, not seeing her for a day does not only signify the loss of sweetness, but also marking the end of his day. He is eager to see Brawne, and by not seeing her the sweetness of his day, the significance of his day has vanished, disappeared. This poem can ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Based on the case study the other partner that is in the same office who hired her is starting to complain about the fact that she had not disclosed the fact that she had a child. To this end the partner has said that he was upset because she had not said anything about the child when she interviewed (Walsh, 2013, p. 96). In many organizations, documents such as the mission statement stand alone and are reviewed annually, put on company letter head, passed out on business cards and so forth. Before first reading a Harry Potter novel, I was skeptical that a children s book about an orphan wizard going to school would be entertaining. But within 15 minutes I found ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Whether it is a fight for his life, winning a quidditch match, or just staying out of trouble, these novels are anything but boring. This I believe, is one of the biggest reasons why these books have been such a success, the author knows how to keep the story going at all times in order to maintain the readers attention. Another factor which I believe has led to the novels success is that while reading, the reader wishes that they could live in this fantasy world created by Rowling where life is anything but ordinary. The novels make the reader somewhat desire a life like the one led by the characters of the novels, like going to a school to learn wizarding, always having extraordinary things happen and just being at Hogwarts seems like an unequaled joy for some. These novels have the ability to reignite the long lost imaginations of adults, and keep the imaginations of children strong. Although I am a strong supporter of this book series, I do find one thing wrong with the books. All the novels have endings which are almost the same, Harry saves the day and Voldemort the major antagonist gets defeated in one way or another. Also only Harry and his friends seem to be the ones who go on adventures to defeat huge beasts or save family members from monsters known as dementors, this to me makes the novel slightly unappealing but still one of ... • 29. Persuasive Essay On Home Sweet Home Final: Persuasive Essay Home Sweet Home COM/156 Why spend money that is really needed for other things? Why live uncomfortably? Why be trapped in this hole called a home that belongs to another person? Why not live free and peacefully? When a person rents he or she usually throws away money that could be used to purchase something that belongs to them. Money is not easy to come by so why pay out hundreds toward something that is not benefit to the person paying it out. There is no good explanation for making a decision like this. The best option in a situation like this is to buy a house. Buying a house is a better option than renting an apartment. Buying a house has some very good ownership benefits. As a buyer and not an actual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Buying a house provides stability forever unless the owner decides to sell or to move into another home in which the owner gains equity for selling. This is still a huge benefit. Owning a home is a very huge security measure. When a person is an actual homeowner and not a renter he or she can control who actually enters his or her home (Map, 2011). It is easier to purchase home alarm systems and everything that goes on in a person s home is controlled by the owner. As a homeowner the option of what is allowed and what goes on is controlled by the actual homeowner. If an issue comes up and the owner has to move somewhere else then this is a huge benefit. As a seller a person can earn so much money and it can build equity (Media, 2010). Usually homes sell for way more than the purchase prices, especially if the owner has customized the home, in which was discussed earlier (RP Reality, 2011). The selling price could be a huge benefit to any owner who is selling their home and moving. These benefits cannot be earned by an apartment renter. Buying a home is the best route to choose in any situation. Buying a home means actually owning something. There is no more following another person s rules, no more paying out unnecessary money. It means a sense of security and stability for a person s family. It is the key to a better lifestyle. The benefits are all there. There is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Dominican Republic root factors: The financial crisis, and subsequently the poor state of the economy prior to 1989, meant that many farms and agricultural industries could not afford the chemicals required so traditional methods were used to maintain the soil, the fact that the Dominican Republic is an island isolated the country from many of the problem pests involved in farming on the mainland. The second factor adding to the prosperity of the industry was the jump the Dominican Republic had on the organic food market, which arose in the early 90s due to their lack of chemical use. At this time 90% of organic products exported from the Dominican Republic went to Europe . By 2005, Europe was still the main importer of organic products from the Dominican Republic ... • 31. To The Memory Of Some I Knew Who Are Dead And Who Loved... The Easter Rising of 1916 occurred in Ireland in the midst of World War One, and the two events are closely entwined. Many Irish people initially struggled to reconcile the politics of Irish nationalism with Irish contributions to World War One. George Russell was one of the first to attempt to offer an equal commemoration of both events. In 1917, Russell published his poem To the Memory of Some I Knew Who are Dead and Who Loved Ireland in the Irish Times. This poem was a revised version of Salutation, which Russell had written to commemorate the rebels of the Easter Rebellion. In the revised version, Russell interspersed each stanza about the rebels with stanzas about Irish soldiers. Russell unites these two great losses and their ideologies. He reveals the shared struggle in the trauma of both events, forming the foundation for a collective memory and shared Irish identity. Many Irish opposed the actions of the National Volunteers, the group promoting Irish nationalism and a small faction of who were responsible for the Rebellion. Resistance of British rule seemed inappropriate to many during the war. In Myths and Memories of the Easter Rising, Jonathan Githens Mazer states that opinion hardened against the Volunteers over the entire course of the Rising, especially because it brought fighting to Dublin. He notes that women, particularly poor women, disliked the Volunteers, because many...had husbands and relations fighting for the British on the continent. • 32. Citizenship In Sports Sports participation with today s youth is universal in society. It is important to understand the conditions youth engage in organized sports promotes development and character. Today s youth are unruly and unforgiving, but if they participated in organized sports they would be productive citizens, develop bonds with coaches and players to gain the key attributes in life like discipline, sacrifice, integrity and responsibility. The PGA is working towards to help with youth and get their attention. They are going through with this through 2019 so they will have enough time and an impact on a kid s life. The report card did five categories which were child centered philosophy, coaching, health and safety, officiating, and parental behavior and involvement, the results were bad and unsettling trend im sports was the mentality of win at all cost and the report card exposed it and did a wakeup call for people that only thought that way. Representative, Mclntyre knew and studied that athletes make better grades in school, are less likely to be obese, get in less trouble or no trouble at all, and be successful in life also teaches them values such as sportsmanship, discipline, civility, respect and teamwork and give them a sense of home instead of going to gangs or anything else that gets them in trouble and keep them off the streets. Also, organized sports have the opportunity to make themselves someone and build character. Rep. Mclntyre launched the CCYS (Congressional Caucus on Youth Sports) and they shot to commit to bringing fun, recreation and character development back to the forefront of youth sports. Rep. Most of the PSO algorithms suffer from the problem of premature convergence in the early stages of the search and hence are unable to locate the global optimum. The idea here is to exercise proper control over the global and local exploration of the swarm during the optimization process. The PSO_TVAC based approach for practical non convex ELD problem is tested on four test systems having different sizes and non linearities. Out the four, two test systems are with valve point loading effects, one system has POZ and one system has a large dimension with 38 generating units. The PSO_TVAC is found to ... In first case generator constraints are considered along with the lossless system and in second case generator constraints are considered with the losses. All the programming has been done in MATLAB environment. In this study, three and six unit thermal power plant is considered which is solved for two different cases with and without losses. Vo Ngoc Dieu [16], proposed an augmented Lagrange Hopfield network (ALHN) for real power dispatch on large scale power systems. The proposed ALHN is a continuous Hopfield network with its energy function based on augmented Lagrange function. For this combination, the ALHN method can easily deal with large scale problems with nonlinear constraints. The proposed ALHN has been tested on systems from 40 units to 240 units, IEEE 118 bus and IEEE 300 bus systems, and the obtained results have been compared to those from other methods. The test results have shown that the ALHN method can obtain better solutions than the com¬pared methods in a very fast manner. Therefore, the proposed ALHN could be favorable for implementation on the real power dispatch problems for large scale systems. The proposed ALHN has been tested on differ¬ent systems with large number of generating units and buses for two cases neglecting power loss and including power loss in transmission system. Serhat ...
