For example the Romans utilized segments that the Greeks had utilized yet they included the curve

First of all, in the meantime, the Romans manufactured theaters like the Greeks yet they concocted

this are the Coliseum in Rome and the Temple of Zeus in Athens that the Romans fabricated. This

Surviving Homelessness In Canada
This world is filled with many issues. Climate change, war and other problems take over news
stations and the minds of people. Homelessness is an issue that is not talked about much. When
the thought of homelessness comes up, the thought of developing countries come to mind.
However, homeless people are seen by millions of people in cities like New York, London,
Montreal, Vancouver and Toronto. As of 2013, there are approximately 5,219 homeless people in
Toronto. This is a 1.6% increase from 2009, the population of homeless people is increasing.
Information on how those people ended up on the streets, how they survive, and how to get them
off the streets is what the world needs. Many people today think that just because they aren t

But does the money or food really help them? Sure it might help them last a few days or
whatever, but, the goal is to get these people off the streets. By the end of it they should have a
job, house and a stable life. Firstly, let s look at what the government is doing about
homelessness. In 2013 the federal government issued a plan that includes an investment on
ending homelessness by providing five years of renewed funding for the homelessness
partnering strategy (HPS), and placing a strong emphasis on the housing first approach (Toronto
Star, 2013). 60 communities across Canada will be supported by HPS, and 80% of it will go to
the 10 biggest cities in the country. Without this the amount of people on the streets will increase
dramatically. Even though the government is helping, the only way to get these people off the
streets is by donating to organizations like Salvation Army. These large organizations have a
larger chance if more people help. The homeless people in areas like toronto need extra care
because of the brutal, cold winter. With temperatures dropping to as low as 15 degrees, these
people need to be brought inside. These people can not survive

Rebecca Bloomwood Research Paper
Throughout this journal, one can see that Rebecca Bloomwood can be characterized as outgoing
and ecstatic. Initially, Rebecca Bloomwood can be characterized as outgoing for a diversified
amount of explanations. First of all, she went on a trip with her boyfriend and had to go a few
days without clothes. She has decided to make outfits on the go. Some people may believe that
she is outgoing because this is not easy to pull off. In addition, Rebecca is not afraid to take
risks. She went on a trip with Luke in a days notice. Rebecca may feel like she is being a good
girlfriend by going on trips with her boyfriend in a short notice and that s why she is so outgoing.

Thirdly, when Rebecca was at the wedding she told everyone that Luke was there when he was
really not. This shows she is creative and can come up with any excuse on the spot. Some people
may think she is lying due to her stories she makes up as well as some people may believe she is
innovated. She interacts with people well and can start a conversation with any person. She also
puts herself out there like talking to people she does not know at the wedding. On the other
hand, Rebecca Bloomwood can be characterized as ecstatic for an assorted number of reasons.
The first reason is she came up with a motto to go by. In the book it states, My new motto is buy
only what you need. I know, it sounds almost too simple but it really does work. Before each
purchase, I ask myself one question: do I need this? And only if the answer is yes do I make the
purchase. Its all just a matter of self discipline . This quote shows that she gives herself a goal in
her shopping problem to stop spend so much. People can tell she sets good goals on spending

again after they split up. And it seems that the reunion is kicking off after Axl Rose and lead
guitarist Slash have already reconciled after a long conflict. During the recent gig of Limp

The Most Brutal Dictators Of Jeff Stalin
I agree with this quote the most even though it was said by one of the most brutal dictators in the
world, Josef Stalin. Education is an extremely powerful object that you need to use carefully. In
other words supply the student with the correct and fact based answer rather than an answer that
you think is correct.
In America a good education is the difference between working at Walmart, and being a computer
programer at Google. A good education is one that has these qualities, it is enticing to the student, it
prepares the student for the world to come, and provides the student with facts that they can make
their own opinions on. Enticing is key to keep the student focus on school rather than other things.

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to
encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The most important factor for the company
is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help
them gauge social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know
what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors
when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products.
Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too
much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them, while trying to buy
something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney
characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for
children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy this , you have a
chance to win this which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big
prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who then
makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to
promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are
looking for that happinessand joy but when they buy it they do not find what they were looking for.

Emotional Guilt in Nathaniel HawthorneВґs The MinisterВґs...
Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil is a story of guilt, humility, sin, hypocrisy, love,
compounded emotional stability and trials of life. It is a work of gothic literary art that describes
the complexity of emotions and the psychological give and take that takes place when processing
and dealing with any human emotion. The gothic writing style Hawthorne uses in The Minister s
Black Veilmakes it easy for him to focus on one main emotion: guilt. Hawthorne is no stranger to
guilt, a huge reason why he discusses its nature so much. The Hawthorne families, formally known
as Hathorne, were involved in the Salem Witch Trials and have carried the shameand guilt of their

Hooper.
The use of a minister as the main character is especially significant throughout this gothic story. In
literary symbolism, a minister is applied as a symbol of light, happiness and peace. Hawthorne
takes this symbol and instead transforms Hooper into a representation of distress and obscurity. The
rumor Our parson has gone mad! (2432), becomes the general consensus of the surrounding
community. In this specific condemnation Hawthorne skillfully uses the word mad in this sentence
to portray various contexts. Firstly, the word mad is used to describe the mental state of the
Minister but it is also applied to depiction of the condition concerning the community s sense of
ordinariness. This coincides with the public s view that the Minister has become deranged because
they assume that he is hiding his identity from the community. Secondly, the connotation of the
word mad is that the community is slowly going mad because of the lack of knowledge of what is
happening with Mr. Hooper. Hawthorne also introduces a personal response from one of the public
that reads: ...I would not be alone with him for the world (2433), which describes the mistrust of
their minister that, in turn, is influencing them to become mad . A large portion of The Minister s
Black Veil that demonstrates this story is gothic is the technique

What Did The Babylonians, Chinese Contribute To...
1.What did the Babylonians, Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Islamic, and Chinese contribute to
mathematics?
Babylonian: The base 60 system that is still used today in the division of hours into minutes and
seconds. They left clay tables that contained tables of multiplication, division, squares cubes, and
square roots, and the measurement of area and length. All of these allowed the solution of linear
and quadratic equation to be determined. They knew the Pythagoras Theory before invented and
made predictions of when an astronomical event will occur.
Egyptians: 1 Used math to solve practical problems (measuring time, the annual Nile flooding,
calculating area of land, bookkeeping, accounting, calculating taxes). 2 Introduced Approximation
by giving the approximate area of a circle. 3 Introduced the base 10 counting system they used for
measuring time, flood, areas and records.
Greeks: used math for music, made Pythagorean theorem, Euclidean algorithm, latitude and
longitude, buoyance, pi, exponents, odometer.
Pythagoras (theorem, discovered the square root of two p/q) and Thales (stated that since ABC are
points in a circle, AC must be the diameter and the angle computer design.

Sexist vs Misanthrope
Executive Summary The following journal will express how ethics theories take place into
people personalities and thoughts. It focuses in a social dilemma about a misanthrope and a
sexiest living their normal lives, and how they are influenced by their judgments in the decision
making process. First of all, Harold, as a misanthrope person dislike people in general, no
mattering gender, age, race, social preferences, etc. He does not treat people differently, therefore
he does not discriminate. In a business environment, he would hire any person for a specific

experienced workers. With their on the job training they are given basic tasks, like placing a

Throughout the training process as the worker gains experience they begin to perform more
defined tasks as of basic machine operations and job tasks with minimal supervision. To become

Analysis Of Sandra Cisneros s The House On Mango Street
Just by looking at the front cover of The House on Mango Street, one could grasp an idea of what
the novel is about and how it is presented. It is a story, decorated with colorful detail and
authenticity, of a girl adjusting to a new home and growing up. In the introduction to the novel,
Cisneros paints a picture of who she had been at the time she had written this novel. Cisneros
discusses how as a girl she always wanted to move into a standalone house as opposed to the
apartments she had been living in throughout her early childhood. She also mentions her father s
role in her life and how they had not often seen eye to eye. Her father had never understood why
she wanted to live in a house. He also had wanted Cisneros to marry and have babies, however, at
the time she had written this novel, she had been uninterested in that. Meanwhile, she states that
she has never had a father or boyfriend beat her when she writes about how privileged her life had
been up to that point. This is all reflected in The House on Mango Street. Sandra Cisneros writes in
her own unique voice in The House on Mango Street by using unconventional short anecdotes that
feature a cast of distinct characters to include aspects of her own life. In the beginning of the
introduction, Cisneros describes what she was like when she was a young. Cisneros writes, As a
girl, she dreamed of having a silent home, just to herself... (Cisneros xii). This desire is reflected

Accounting Standards and Auditing Techniques
Accounting standards and auditing techniques can help determine important information in the
corporate world. A comparison of two companies in the same industry can illuminate the importance
of this tool while also producing other relevant and practical information. The purpose of this paper
is to compare two pharmaceutical giants within the industry, Merck and Novartis, to demonstrate
the applicability of accounting and auditing standards. Merck is, according to their website, Merck
Co., Inc. provides various health solutions through its prescription medicines, vaccines, biologic
therapies, animal health, and consumer care products worldwide. This company is part of the
pharmaceutical industry which is a very strong and influential industry. Novartis is also in this
industry and is a competitor of Merck. Both Novartis and Merck s accounting standards arise from
the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). These principles are a set of rules and
practices having substantial authoritative support. GAAP is the standards that companies use to
compile their financial statements such as the income statement, balance sheet, and statement of
cash flows. GAAP is composed of many small rules, covering many types of accounting
transactions, issued over a long period of time. FASB, the Financial Accounting Standards Board,

Comparison Of Handel s Hornpipe From Water Music Ensemble
Marliz Dume When comparing or analyzing styles of play by different ensembles of either
different pieces of music or the same, one must keep a keen ear to the technicalities and expression
attempted for the listener to clearly hear. In this report, first, two different ensembles playing
George Frideric Handel s Hornpipe from Water MusicSuite is compared and contrasted. Next, yet
another comparison is made between two different ensembles playing the piece written by Ludwig
van Beethoven, Sym. #5, 1st movement(beginning). Finally, an analysis of Caroline Shaw s
Allemande from Partita for 8 voices is made.
Two versions of Handel s Hornpipe were listened to and compared against each other. The
ensemble deemed as using authentic period instruments will be regarded as the version 1 , while
version 2 will be by the ensemble using contemporary instruments. After multiple listens of each
version, the listener should be able recognize many differences and similarities between the two
versions. To start with the differences heard, the two versions distinctly play in different styles. In
version 1 of Handel s piece a more staccato fashion style of play is heard in comparison to version
2, where the ensemble plays the notes in a more legato fashion. At first listen, the difference was
very apparent as in version 1, the ensemble played the notes more sharply or syncopated than in
version 2. Another difference that can be made between the two versions is the balance of the

The Paintings of Romantic Period
The Romantic Period, characterized by new ideas in Western art, literature and music, lasted from
the end of the eighteenth century to the mid nineteenth century. Romantic artists eschewed
Neoclassical history painting to focus on imaginary and exotic subjects, as well as nature. The poet
and critic Charles Baudelaire wrote in 1846, Romanticismis precisely situated neither in choice of
subject nor in exact truth, but in a way of feeling (Galitz 2004). The Romantic movement was
shaped by political, philosophical, social and artistic movements and embraced passionately in
France, Germany, Switzerland, Britain and North America (Farthing, 2010, p. 266). In each
country, artists expressed the movement in characteristic ways. French painters sought to capture
both reality and the exotic. In The Raft of the Medusa, for example, ThГѓ odore GГѓ ricault
recreated an emotional and horrifying shipwreck scene that occurred three years earlier. He
employed the classical pyramid composition and created emotion by contrasting pale, lifeless
figures with dark, swirling waters and an ominous sky. The painting caused a scandal when it was
unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1819 because it depicted a terrible accident the public sought to
forget. Survivors had turned to cannibalism and many went mad. The ship that rescued the
survivors, the Argus, is seen in the background of the painting, which can be construed as a
criticism of the government for not dispatching the rescue ship in time

The Hero Of Jesus Christ
It is common for people to have a hero they admire and strive to be like. Often these heroes are
people such as athletes, celebrities, world leaders, and family members. These ordinary people
become heroes because of desirable attributes they exhibit. These characteristics are ones that
people can relate to, characteristics that give birth to a desire to elevate oneself to be a heroto others.
Such is my hero. My hero was born long ago to two devoted parents that loved him dearly. Life
was not easy for him or his family; nevertheless, he grew up and became strong. Even though he
was the son of a lowly carpenter, he learned of his divine calling and rose to the challenge that
came with the call. The challenges that afflicted him in his life molded him into the hero I see him
to be. He is JesusChrist, a man with amazing attributes and my hero. Christ had many great and
marvelous attributes. He lived his entire life by these attributes and encouraged others to develop
these same values. He magnified a way for others to find happiness and meaning. These attributes
are the reason Jesus Christ is my hero. One of Christ s greatest attributes is love. He loved
everyone. He loved the poor, the wealthy, the young, and the old. Through his example, people
around him felt more inclined to love. When an individual is filled with love, they develop a strong
desire to serve others. People sacrifice time and resources to serve others less fortunate then

encompasses three immigrant small business owners in Houston, Texas that have continued their
business for over five years. The implications for positive social change include the potential for
successful immigrant small business owners to encourage immigrants and entrepreneurs to expand

because I will be gathering data to explore the phenomenon of immigrant small business
sustainability. Although researchers employ a phenomenological design to explore a phenomenon,
it uses minimal data samples (Stovell, Wearden, Morrison, Hutton, 2016). The phenomenological
design will not be suitable for this study because I will not be using minimal data samples to

Tennis Has Long Been A Favorite Sport Of Mine Due To The
Tennis has long been a favorite sport of mine due to the constant movement and the sense of
suspension that it creates. The observer never knows what the players are going to do next with
respect to where, how hard, or even how soft they will send or hit the ball. All of this movement is
not just by chance however, physics is at work throughout every moment the ball is on the court.
Starting with the basics we must look first at force. Force can be defined as the strength or energy
exerted or brought to bear which causes motion or a change in motion. There are multiple forces
acting on the ball throughout the course of a match. The main force being exerted comes from the
racket which gets its energy from the player. Other forces acting... Show more content on

Since hitting the ball is really how the game of tennis is played these laws of motion are very
important. Another concept that is important when looking at the physics of tennis is gravity.
As mentioned earlier, one of the main forces acting on the ball is the force the ground exerts on
the ball to make it bounce back up into the air. The force of gravity is what pulls the ball to the
ground so the ground can exert its force on the ball. Just like everything else on Earth, or any
planet or celestial body for that matter, gravity is acting on the ball at all times. Now, from the
previous discussion on force we know that force is in a direct relationship with acceleration. So,
because the exact force of gravity is at all times acting on the ball. The ball is constantly
accelerating. Now, due to the force of the players on the ball and the ground on the ball once it
hits the ground it is always accelerating in different directions; however, it will always tend to be
pulled down toward the ground due to gravity. One can calculate the exact force of gravity on the
ball by multiplying the mass of the ball times the acceleration due to gravity which is always of
the value of 9.8 m/s2. Another concept of physics that plays a role in tennis is that of momentum.
We have previously discussed that the racket exerts a force on the ball and the ball exerts a force

We ve all experienced this before, and for future drivers it is bound to happen. Before driving home
after a long day at work, you head to the nearest gas station to find the prices at a hefty $3.59 per
gallon. You shrug since the cost last week was a few cents higher, and proceed to fill up your car.
With your gasolinecapacity at its limit, you drive around the corner only to have your jaw drop
when you realize that this gas station s price is thirty cents cheaper than what you just paid for.
Then, talking to the empty seat beside you, you ask, Why do gas stations in the same area charge
different amounts per gallon?
The first economic principle that gas companies have applied is the costs versus benefits principle.
Each company obtains

In this novel, Miss Harriet has an affair with Tomas Arroyo to save the old gringo#8217;s life.
Supposedly, Arroyo claimed that he would kill the gringo unless she slept with him. At the end
of the story, Harriet despises Tomas Arroyo for everything he does and learns to love the old
gringo as a father. The old gringo is a very mysterious, adventure and death seeking character. He
comes to Mexico in search of death, hoping that he could just die in the battlefield. We learn that
he had his own family, but all were dead or wanted nothing to do with him. He was a bitter
American journalist who had made an abrupt break with his past and is riding into Mexico to
join Pancho Villa #8217;s revolutionary army. Clues suggest that if this man were ever named
he would prove to be Ambrose Bierce, an American journalist, who vanished from the United
States into Mexico during 1913. In the end of this story, he is killed by Tomas Arroyo and is
taken back into the U.S. to be buried in Miss Harriet #8217;s father #8217;s empty grave in
Arlington. This character was very well respected for his bravery shown in the field and his
special qualities that made Miss Harriet love him so much. Tomas Arroyo is the man who is

Part 2 of the Town Visit is scheduled for Sunday Oct.30 2005. This additional Town visit was
scheduled based on feedback received by the Councilor Candidates on the first Town Visit on Oct.

further impart the importance of a vote for our Team on Nov.6.

An unexpected offer to distribute our platform message via the Lake Association email list has
been evaluated. The Lake Association has offered this service to all of the Candidates (both slates).
Its reasoning was to allow a more immediate distribution of information to the Lake s residents. We
have decided that additional contact with the Citizens could have a negative impact. Receiving a

Literary Devices In Poetry
Literature is never original. In one way or another, one text alludes to a previous text which in
turn alludes to a previous. Common reoccurring allusions are to the Bible, Greek mythology,
Shakespeare, or other writers. Themes such as; faith, childhood, love, and loneliness, are repeated
and expanded upon in a wide variety of ways in all genres of literature but none as unique as poetry.
Poetry is often regarded as one of the more difficult forms of literature, it employs an array of
techniques which allows each poem to express a theme or idea, although reoccurring or clichГ©, in
its own particular light that brings a new perspective to the subject matter. The subject of deathis as
old as time itself. Throughout the years people have expressed many different emotions through
poetry regarding death. In Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that good night , John Donne
Death be not proud , and Emily Dickenson s Because I could not stop for Death, it can be
observed the different and similar techniques used to portray like or contrasting ideas of death.
Techniques such as; literary devices, form, and diction, are used to evoke like and different ideas
surrounding the topic of death. In Donne s sonnetDeath be not proud , the overall portrayal of death
is that it is something that is weak and has no control over humans or human nature. Sonnets are set
up in a systematic why that aids in the poem s analysis; Shakespearean sonnets, such as Donne s,

How Did Julius Caesar Change
Augustus became Rome s first emperor after Rome changed from republic to empire after Julius
Caesar assassination. Julius Caesar is Augustus great uncle and adopted father. He shrewdly
combined military might, institution building and lawmaking to become Rome s sole ruler, laying
the foundations of the 200 year Pax Romana (Roman Peace) and an empire that lasted, in various
forms, for nearly 1,500 years (History.com).
He was born in 63 B.C. and even his adoption he was known as Octavian. At the age of 16
Octavius donned the toga because it was the Roman sign of manhood and was taking on
responsibilities through his family connections (History.com). Octavius went to modern day Spain

My Father Is A Hero Or Villain Essay
My Father: Hero or Villain? A stranger once questioned my thirteen year old self, Would you
rather live an easy life or an interesting life? and in the moment without hesitation to think about
it, I responded an easy life. Ever since I was able to realize right from wrong, my immature mind
always struggled understanding why bad things happen to good people and why our world can
t be at peace. Or why must my body react anxiously? Or why my parents are divorced? Now, only
God has the answers to all these questions. However, God simply wants YOU to figure out the
obstacles on your own that appear throughout your growth. As I looked up with my arms wide
open asking Uppie uppie? ..my father says Okay EB, one last time as he picked me up and held
me, I noticed his gestures. Ever since I was young, I ve always had the power of observing and
memorizing what surrounded me. Then, it hit me. The strange characteristics my father held. His
aggressive temper, the impatient OCD, the odd jokes directed at my mother, the constant blaming as
if he never made mistakes. Twas the night time that I dreaded the most. His time to shine . His
enjoyment was down in the basement watching either football or baseball and through the thin
walls I could hear that snap of a beer can opening. Every single night. I was about eleven years old
when I finally connected the dots. Those dots meant everything but also meant nothing. My father

Analysis Of Dreams From My Father By Barack Obama
Dreams from my father written by; former president Barack Obama. This text shows another
side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered
chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his
experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his
presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand
Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the
community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to
citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to
help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s
problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our
parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation
much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles
and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even
to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He
has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles.
Obama had chosen to work in the community to fix the problems in Chicago. This speaks a lot of

The Properties Of Life In Plants And Plants
The properties of life that plants and animals should possess include heredity and growth,
homeostasis, cellular organization, metabolism and responsiveness. Merriam Webster defined the
transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is
the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a
property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others.
Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal
environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. In summation, the cellular
organization is another attribute of animation where all living things are composed of cells where
some have unicellular organisms and some have multicellular organisms. Furthermore, metabolism
is needed to provide organisms with energy and responsiveness must do with outside
environmental changes. Lastly, reproduction is not necessary for the survival of organisms, but is
necessary for there to be a prolongation of life. Not only do organisms require the properties of
spirit for survival but also molecules that are important for the prolongation of life. These molecules
include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates contain sugars and starches
that provide and store energy for cells. Also, carbohydrates serve as the construction material for the
physical structure of plants.

Franchising Is An Important Industry
INTRODUCTION
The idea of franchising has been a thought that dates all the way back to the middle ages when
landowners would grant peasants to hunt, hold fairs, and hold markets on their land. It was not
until 1858 that franchising became an important industry. Today, franchising is still one of the
largest industries in existence ( The History Of Franchising, n.d.). Franchising is an agreement
between a party (Franchisor) who gives the privilege to another individual (Franchisee) to own,
manage, and run his or her business in another place with certain expenses that the franchisee is
responsible for and laws that the franchisee must abide by.
Over the years, franchising has become very important to the economy. When franchising is done...

The franchisor has the power to reject or accept anyone who wants to franchise his or her business.
Franchisors only accept a franchisee after the candidate passes certain company requirements that
show the franchisor that the candidate is serious about upholding the expectations for the franchise
that the franchisor has set in place. A consulting company (Reliable Background Screening)
towards franchisors, gives advice to franchisors and say, By thoughtful and careful analysis, you
improve your odds of choosing the best franchisee owners to represent and promote your franchise
company s image and values. ( Background Checks to Protect Your Franchise Brand, n.d.).
Franchisors have to make the right choice when it comes to picking their franchisee because in the
future they will be the one representing their company. If in the future the franchisee and franchisor
are not seeing eye to eye it can open up conflicts which can ultimately hurt their brand.
The Importance of the Franchisor
Franchising is quite different than other industries because two entrepreneurs are involved in it and
their relationship is vital for success. The franchisee needs the right tools, guidance, and a
respectable amount of money in order for him or her to generate the appropriate profits to make the
franchise worth the investment. However, franchisors must also be ready to assist their franchisees
with all of the tools and guidance they need to make them successful. Mark Siebert the CEO of

Malcolm Gladwell Blink

Review about the book Blink
The blink is a great achievement of the author to explain the psychology of how the unconscious
part of our brain works. The author of the book is Malcolm Gladwell born on September 3, 1963
is an English Canadian author, journalist and a speaker having experience of research conducting
about social psychologies. He is a graduate of Toronto University, Canada. He has written five
books, The tipping point, Blink, Outliers, David and Goliath and what the Dog saw. He has been
working with the New Yorkers (an American magazine of reportage, commentary, criticism, essays,
fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry) since 1996.
The book Blink is about rapid cognition, the ability to make snap judgments in the blink of an
eye. It is about what we know in the first two seconds by looking at any object. It is about reading
faces and expressions. It is about making decisions from our unconscious part of brain that is faster
and often more correctly than the logical part of the brain can manage.

Planning And Assessment Of The Primary School For A Teacher
Planning, teaching and assessment are essential in the primary school for a teacher to ensure
that successful learning and progression takes place. These three components link together
however they should not be considered as a linear experience because assessment should not
and does not always occur at the end of these processes (Earl, 2003). The process has a cyclic
nature where each part contributes to the final outcome; you must plan to be able to teach a
lesson, but to do so you must assess prior knowledge to allow for future progression. I will
explore how this important cyclic process takes place and how different approaches, such as using
story books, are used to do so in relation to the foundation subjects, particularly looking at Religious
Education(RE), music and computing.
Thorough planning in the primary school is important as it ensures teachers have a structure and
context for each lesson and that they can have a positive impact on children s learning and
progress. Pugh and Pugh (1998, p. 115) recognise that without clear planning, teachers would not
know what they re trying to achieve, how to achieve it and when it is to be achieved. Despite the
age of this literature, the concept around planning remains today; it is crucial to plan the curriculum
and lessons in three stages; short, medium and long term.

Melchizek In The Alchemist
The Alchemist When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve

goes on a quest to find his Personal Legend. However, it is not the universe, but one character
that conspires to assist Santiago, allowing him to surmount obstacles and achieve his dreams.
That character is named Melchizedek, and he appears very briefly at the beginning of the story
in order to guide Santiago. Although brief, his appearance sets the theme of the story, his
intervention initiates the actions that occur, and sets Santiago on his live changing journey. The
appearance of Melchizedek (The King of Salem) reveals the theme of the story. He does this by
directly lecturing him on various topics such as the Soul of the World, Beginner s Luck, and
Personal Legends. He tells Santiago how he should pursue his dreams, ultimately leading to the
actions that take place throughout the story. He appears to Santiago as a mentor or a life coach,
telling him how to read and understand omens. He intervenes at a critical time in the young boy s

To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf Essay
To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf
When speaking of modernism in the work Virginia Woolf, scholars too readily use her innovations
in style and technique as the starting point for critical analysis, focusing largely on the ways in
which her prose represents a departure from the conventional novel in both style and content. To
simply discuss the extent of her unique style, however, is to overlook the role of tradition in her
creation of a new literary identity. In To the Lighthouse, Woolf s invention reveals itself instead as a
reinvention, a recasting of the conventional through the use of the traditional. Within the text, this
relationship manifests itself in Lily Briscoe s relationship with Mrs. Ramsay and the extent to which

To the Lighthouse most appropriately fits this latter definition, where Woolf s own discourse
suggests a similar understanding of the term (Zwerdling 180). In a diary entry of 1928, Woolf
notes her reluctance to consider To the Lighthouse a novel, describing it instead as a final act of
remembrance: I used to think of him [father] and mother daily she recalled, but writing The
Lighthouse laid them in my mind. In another entry the same year, Woolf describes To the
Lighthouse as a burial rite, a cathartic elegy in which she expressed some very long felt and deeply
felt emotion...and in expressing it explained it, and then laid it to rest. Contemporary scholars of
Woolf s work have similarly affirmed the importance of the concept of elegy within To the
Lighthouse, asserting as Eavan Boland does that the true text of To the Lighthouse is undoubtedly
Mrs. Ramsay, a figurative representation of Julia Duckworth Stephen, Woolf s mother (Boland 10).
In a letter sent to Woolf after reading the novel, Vanessa Bellfurther reinforces Mrs. Ramsay s
connection to Julia, noting that Woolf had created in Mrs. Ramsay a portrait of mother which is
more like her to me than anything I could have ever conceived of as possible. Through Woolf s
own comments as well as those familiar with her life, it therefore

the roman empire is the greatest civilization of all time
The Roman Empire was the period of time after the Roman Republic and before the Byzantine
Empire from 29 B.C. to A.D. 476. It was the highest point of Roman civilization, greater than any
prior empires and towers over even the empires after it; it triumphed over the world .
The Roman Republic was what built up the foundation for the Roman Empire. During the
Republic, a small group of people started from scratch and developed their own systems, which
later develops into the Roman Empire. The strong leaders of the Republic had conquered much
land and people for Rome. The Roman Republic thus ignites Roman civilization, which leads on to

The Greek Empire occurred before the Romans and when compared to the Roman Empire, seems
to be modest, not as great. The Greeks did not have as much conquered lands, which lessens their
power. What they did have conquered was divided into parts amongst different rulers, who were
constantly at war with each other, lacking the peace that Pax Romana had. The conquered Greek
lands did not have a chance to civilize as one great empire as the Romans had.
The Byzantine Empire followed the Roman Empire, and it, also, seems meager in comparison. It
had evolved from the Roman Empire, and because it was in the late stage that it was in, land had
been lost, so in terms of size, the Roman Empire was superior to the Byzantine. The empire wasn t
strong, either. At the start, the first ruler, Justinian, attempted to reconquer Roman lands, but in
doing so, left his own land in ruins, and his conquests were lost right after his death. The Empire
faced many enemies and was threatened constantly by them. Eventually, all land was lost except for
the Constantinople, the rich and powerful capital city, and the land surrounding it.
As can be seen, the Roman Empire was great for its time in more ways that one, with its
undefeatable strength and size . It was greater than the empires before it

She also puts herself out there like talking to people she does not know at the wedding. On the other hand, Rebecca Bloomwood can be characterized as ecstatic for an assorted number of reasons. The first reason is she came up with a motto to go by. In the book it states, My new motto is buy only what you need. I know, it sounds almost too simple but it really does work. Before each purchase, I ask myself one question: do I need this? And only if the answer is yes do I make the purchase. Its all just a matter of self discipline . Education is an extremely powerful object that you need to use carefully. In other words supply the student with the correct and fact based answer rather than an answer that you think is correct. In America a good education is the difference between working at Walmart, and being a computer programer at Google. The most important factor for the company is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help them gauge social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products. Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them, while trying to buy something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy this , you have a chance to win this which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who then makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Minister s Black Veil is a story of guilt, humility, sin, hypocrisy, love, compounded emotional stability and trials of life. It is a work of gothic literary art that describes the complexity of emotions and the psychological give and take that takes place when processing and dealing with any human emotion. The gothic writing style Hawthorne uses in The Minister s Black Veilmakes it easy for him to focus on one main emotion: guilt. Hawthorne is no stranger to guilt, a huge reason why he discusses its nature so much. The Hawthorne families, formally known as Hathorne, were involved in the Salem Witch Trials and have carried the shameand guilt of their families decisions through generations. In literary symbolism, a minister is applied as a symbol of light, happiness and peace. Hawthorne takes this symbol and instead transforms Hooper into a representation of distress and obscurity. The rumor Our parson has gone mad! (2432), becomes the general consensus of the surrounding community. In this specific condemnation Hawthorne skillfully uses the word mad in this sentence to portray various contexts. Firstly, the word mad is used to describe the mental state of the Minister but it is also applied to depiction of the condition concerning the community s sense of ordinariness. This coincides with the public s view that the Minister has become deranged because they assume that he is hiding his identity from the community. Secondly, the connotation of the word mad is that the community is slowly going mad because of the lack of knowledge of what is happening with Mr. Hooper. Hawthorne also introduces a personal response from one of the public that reads: ...I would not be alone with him for the world (2433), which describes the mistrust of their minister that, in turn, is influencing them to become mad . It is a story, decorated with colorful detail and authenticity, of a girl adjusting to a new home and growing up. In the introduction to the novel, Cisneros paints a picture of who she had been at the time she had written this novel. Cisneros discusses how as a girl she always wanted to move into a standalone house as opposed to the apartments she had been living in throughout her early childhood. She also mentions her father s role in her life and how they had not often seen eye to eye. Her father had never understood why she wanted to live in a house. He also had wanted Cisneros to marry and have babies, however, at the time she had written this novel, she had been uninterested in that. Meanwhile, she states that she has never had a father or boyfriend beat her when she writes about how privileged her life had been up to that point. This is all reflected in The House on Mango Street. Sandra Cisneros writes in her own unique voice in The House on Mango Street by using unconventional short anecdotes that feature a cast of distinct characters to include aspects of her own life. The Paintings of Romantic Period The Romantic Period, characterized by new ideas in Western art, literature and music, lasted from the end of the eighteenth century to the mid nineteenth century. Romantic artists eschewed Neoclassical history painting to focus on imaginary and exotic subjects, as well as nature. The poet and critic Charles Baudelaire wrote in 1846, Romanticismis precisely situated neither in choice of subject nor in exact truth, but in a way of feeling (Galitz 2004). The Romantic movement was shaped by political, philosophical, social and artistic movements and embraced passionately in France, Germany, Switzerland, Britain and North America (Farthing, 2010, p. 266). In each country, artists expressed the movement in characteristic ways. French painters sought to capture both reality and the exotic. In The Raft of the Medusa, for example, ThГѓ odore GГѓ ricault recreated an emotional and horrifying shipwreck scene that occurred three years earlier. He employed the classical pyramid composition and created emotion by contrasting pale, lifeless figures with dark, swirling waters and an ominous sky. The painting caused a scandal when it was unveiled at the Paris Salon in 1819 because it depicted a terrible accident the public sought to forget. Survivors had turned to cannibalism and many went mad. Often these heroes are people such as athletes, celebrities, world leaders, and family members. These ordinary people become heroes because of desirable attributes they exhibit. These characteristics are ones that people can relate to, characteristics that give birth to a desire to elevate oneself to be a heroto others. Such is my hero. My hero was born long ago to two devoted parents that loved him dearly. Life was not easy for him or his family; nevertheless, he grew up and became strong. Even though he was the son of a lowly carpenter, he learned of his divine calling and rose to the challenge that came with the call. The challenges that afflicted him in his life molded him into the hero I see him to be. He is JesusChrist, a man with amazing attributes and my hero. Christ had many great and marvelous attributes. He lived his entire life by these attributes and encouraged others to develop these same values. He magnified a way for others to find happiness and meaning. These attributes are the reason Jesus Christ is my hero. One of Christ s greatest attributes is love. He loved everyone. He loved the poor, the wealthy, the young, and the old. The observer never knows what the players are going to do next with respect to where, how hard, or even how soft they will send or hit the ball. All of this movement is not just by chance however, physics is at work throughout every moment the ball is on the court. Starting with the basics we must look first at force. Force can be defined as the strength or energy exerted or brought to bear which causes motion or a change in motion. There are multiple forces acting on the ball throughout the course of a match. The main force being exerted comes from the racket which gets its energy from the player. Other forces acting... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Since hitting the ball is really how the game of tennis is played these laws of motion are very important. Another concept that is important when looking at the physics of tennis is gravity. As mentioned earlier, one of the main forces acting on the ball is the force the ground exerts on the ball to make it bounce back up into the air. The force of gravity is what pulls the ball to the ground so the ground can exert its force on the ball. Just like everything else on Earth, or any planet or celestial body for that matter, gravity is acting on the ball at all times. Now, from the previous discussion on force we know that force is in a direct relationship with acceleration. So, because the exact force of gravity is at all times acting on the ball. The ball is constantly accelerating. Now, due to the force of the players on the ball and the ground on the ball once it hits the ground it is always accelerating in different directions; however, it will always tend to be pulled down toward the ground due to gravity. One can calculate the exact force of gravity on the ball by multiplying the mass of the ball times the acceleration due to gravity which is always of the value of 9.8 m/s2. Themes such as; faith, childhood, love, and loneliness, are repeated and expanded upon in a wide variety of ways in all genres of literature but none as unique as poetry. Poetry is often regarded as one of the more difficult forms of literature, it employs an array of techniques which allows each poem to express a theme or idea, although reoccurring or clichГ©, in its own particular light that brings a new perspective to the subject matter. The subject of deathis as old as time itself. Throughout the years people have expressed many different emotions through poetry regarding death. In Dylan Thomas Do not go gentle into that good night , John Donne Death be not proud , and Emily Dickenson s Because I could not stop for Death, it can be observed the different and similar techniques used to portray like or contrasting ideas of death. • 30. My Father Is A Hero Or Villain Essay My Father: Hero or Villain? A stranger once questioned my thirteen year old self, Would you rather live an easy life or an interesting life? and in the moment without hesitation to think about it, I responded an easy life. Ever since I was able to realize right from wrong, my immature mind always struggled understanding why bad things happen to good people and why our world can t be at peace. Or why must my body react anxiously? Or why my parents are divorced? Now, only God has the answers to all these questions. However, God simply wants YOU to figure out the obstacles on your own that appear throughout your growth. As I looked up with my arms wide open asking Uppie uppie? ..my father says Okay EB, one last time as he picked me up and held me, I noticed his gestures. Ever since I was young, I ve always had the power of observing and memorizing what surrounded me. Then, it hit me. The strange characteristics my father held. His aggressive temper, the impatient OCD, the odd jokes directed at my mother, the constant blaming as if he never made mistakes. Twas the night time that I dreaded the most. His time to shine . His enjoyment was down in the basement watching either football or baseball and through the thin walls I could hear that snap of a beer can opening. Every single night. This text shows another side to Obama that many of us has never seen of him before. In class my group and I covered chapters 12 13; our group discussed some of the ideas of Obamas character. As we discussed his experiences early in his career in the community of Chicago had helped him in the future, for his presidency. The text we read showed a lot about Obama as a person it helped me understand Obama even more. Obama is a caring man that only wants to help, for him to help the community he has to understand the problems they are facing. Obama takes time to talk to citizens in poverty stricken areas of Chicago. I think that shows that Obama genially wants to help others and is taking his own time to properly gather a better understanding of the citizen s problems. Also we discussed if America has grown as a country, and if the ideals from our parents have been bestowed to us their children. Has time truly changed is our current generation much different from past generations? Since Obama was young he has lived a life of struggles and hardships, from his mother and father not staying together. The constant moving around even to different parts of the world. Obama has chosen to be the example that America has seen. He has taken the hard times he has been dealt and focused on to try to help other people s struggles. The Properties Of Life In Plants And Plants The properties of life that plants and animals should possess include heredity and growth, homeostasis, cellular organization, metabolism and responsiveness. Merriam Webster defined the transmission of such qualities from ancestor to descendant through the genes. Therefore, heredity is the power of an organismto reach data about itself onto its young. As well, growth is included as a property of life because all living things originate and some may develop much quicker than others. Another attribute of life is homeostasis. This is when living things possess a stable internal environment regardless of any alterations in their external environment. In summation, the cellular organization is another attribute of animation where all living things are composed of cells where some have unicellular organisms and some have multicellular organisms. Furthermore, metabolism is needed to provide organisms with energy and responsiveness must do with outside environmental changes. Lastly, reproduction is not necessary for the survival of organisms, but is necessary for there to be a prolongation of life. Not only do organisms require the properties of spirit for survival but also molecules that are important for the prolongation of life. These molecules include carbohydrates, lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. Carbohydrates contain sugars and starches that provide and store energy for cells. • 33. Franchising Is An Important Industry INTRODUCTION The idea of franchising has been a thought that dates all the way back to the middle ages when landowners would grant peasants to hunt, hold fairs, and hold markets on their land. It was not until 1858 that franchising became an important industry. Today, franchising is still one of the largest industries in existence ( The History Of Franchising, n.d.). Franchising is an agreement between a party (Franchisor) who gives the privilege to another individual (Franchisee) to own, manage, and run his or her business in another place with certain expenses that the franchisee is responsible for and laws that the franchisee must abide by. • 35. Planning And Assessment Of The Primary School For A Teacher Planning, teaching and assessment are essential in the primary school for a teacher to ensure that successful learning and progression takes place. These three components link together however they should not be considered as a linear experience because assessment should not and does not always occur at the end of these processes (Earl, 2003). The process has a cyclic nature where each part contributes to the final outcome; you must plan to be able to teach a lesson, but to do so you must assess prior knowledge to allow for future progression. I will explore how this important cyclic process takes place and how different approaches, such as using story books, are used to do so in relation to the foundation subjects, particularly looking at Religious Education(RE), music and computing. Thorough planning in the primary school is important as it ensures teachers have a structure and context for each lesson and that they can have a positive impact on children s learning and progress. Pugh and Pugh (1998, p. 115) recognise that without clear planning, teachers would not know what they re trying to achieve, how to achieve it and when it is to be achieved. Despite the age of this literature, the concept around planning remains today; it is crucial to plan the curriculum and lessons in three stages; short, medium and long term. • 39. To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf Essay To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf When speaking of modernism in the work Virginia Woolf, scholars too readily use her innovations in style and technique as the starting point for critical analysis, focusing largely on the ways in which her prose represents a departure from the conventional novel in both style and content. To simply discuss the extent of her unique style, however, is to overlook the role of tradition in her creation of a new literary identity. In To the Lighthouse, Woolf s invention reveals itself instead as a reinvention, a recasting of the conventional through the use of the traditional. To the Lighthouse most appropriately fits this latter definition, where Woolf s own discourse suggests a similar understanding of the term (Zwerdling 180). In a diary entry of 1928, Woolf notes her reluctance to consider To the Lighthouse a novel, describing it instead as a final act of remembrance: I used to think of him [father] and mother daily she recalled, but writing The Lighthouse laid them in my mind. In another entry the same year, Woolf describes To the Lighthouse as a burial rite, a cathartic elegy in which she expressed some very long felt and deeply felt emotion...and in expressing it explained it, and then laid it to rest. Contemporary scholars of Woolf s work have similarly affirmed the importance of the concept of elegy within To the Lighthouse, asserting as Eavan Boland does that the true text of To the Lighthouse is undoubtedly Mrs. Ramsay, a figurative representation of Julia Duckworth Stephen, Woolf s mother (Boland 10). In a letter sent to Woolf after reading the novel, Vanessa Bellfurther reinforces Mrs. Ramsay s connection to Julia, noting that Woolf had created in Mrs. Ramsay a portrait of mother which is more like her to me than anything I could have ever conceived of as possible. What they did have conquered was divided into parts amongst different rulers, who were constantly at war with each other, lacking the peace that Pax Romana had. The conquered Greek lands did not have a chance to civilize as one great empire as the Romans had. The Byzantine Empire followed the Roman Empire, and it, also, seems meager in comparison. It had evolved from the Roman Empire, and because it was in the late stage that it was in, land had been lost, so in terms of size, the Roman Empire was superior to the Byzantine. The empire wasn t strong, either.
