Experiment 2. Newton s Third Law
INTRODUCTION
Newton s Third Law is one of the fundamental symmetry principles of the universe which states
that For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction [1] .In simple words it means that for
every action there is a reaction, which is equal to the magnitude of the force applied but opposes the
direction of the action.
EQUIPMENT
2 toy trucks of the similar type
2 equal weights of 0.5 kg each
2 Force Sensors CI 6746
Data Studio Software for data analysis
Resolution of the force sensor:
0.03 N or weight of 3.1 gram mass
Procedure of examination of force sensors:
The two force sensors (CI 6746) that are mounted on the toy trucks are connected to the Data
Studio Interface. Truck 1 is connected to Channel A and Truck 2 is connected to Truck2. Before
taking the readings, the TARE button located on top of the sensors was pressed in order to zero
the readings. To confirm the proper working of the sensors the trucks are pushed but not made to
collide and a straight line graph is observed. The sample rate set for the experiment is 200 Hz,
which is not as slow as 10 Hz or not very fast as 1000 Hz. This enables us to acquire accurate
results during the course of the experiment.

A Brief Look at Richard LaGrevenese
A Big Apple native born October 30, 1959, LaGravense grew up in Brooklyn and studied acting
at New York University s experimental theater department at the Tisch School of Arts. As a
student, he explored his skills with dialogue and formed a New York based comedy group, for
which he also wrote sketches. His sketch material led to an offer by former Saturday Night Live
writer Neil Levy, to co write the script for the 1989 release, Rude Awakening. He wrote (and
sold) his first piece of writing for the off Broadway musical revue, My Name is Alice directed by
Joan Michlin Silver. Mr. LaGravenese began his solo screenwriting career with his original
screenplay The Fisher King, directed by Terry Gilliam. The film went on to earn five Academy
Award nominations, including Best Screenplay, winning Best Supporting Actress for Mercedes
Ruehl. Mr. LaGravenese directed his original screenplay for the critically acclaimed Living Out
Loud starring Danny DeVito, Holly Hunter and Queen Latifah. He joined other directors for the
omnibus Paris J taime with stars Fanny Ardent and Bob Hoskins. In 1995, LaGravenese gained
additional acclaim with his screenplays for his popular adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnetts A
Little Princess. Set during World War I, this film focuses on a young girl who is demoted to a life
of servitude in a New York City boarding school by the headmistress after receiving news that her
father was killed in combat. Loosely based upon the novel A Little Princess, this

The Irony In Human Freedom And The Concept Of Determinism
THE IRONY IN HUMAN FREEDOM
AND THE CONCEPT OF DETERMINISM
Having the topic of freedom concerns me a lot because it is certainly a tough thing to tackle and
honestly in my 17 years of living I don t really know if I m capable of discussing such crucial
concept in lined with my chosen philosopher. In contradiction with this, I want to challenge myself
if I have this philosopher capability to oppose and fight the different concepts in the world
regarding freedom specifically the notion of Rene Descartes.
Significance of the Topic
First and foremost, the significance of this topic, The Irony in Human Freedom and the Concept of
Determinism is to create a paper containing my thoughts, comprehension and evidences of

Descartes on Human Freedom
Having consider that Rene Descartes believed the presence of human freedom, it is not discernible
and clear what he held this freedom to consist in. Following to Descartes s argument that man are
the supreme source of human mistake or error and certainly not God based on the Fourth
Meditation, he offers and presents an interpretation of the activity of the human will and how it
may be described as free will. Assumed that Descartes discusses the freedom of choice and will as
similar and compatible in his argument, critics opt to emphasis on it to know Descartes s certain
notions on human freedom.
Descartes illustrates an analogy between human will and the divine, stressing that it is human
will which is utmost perfect function because it lets them to bear in some way the image and
likeness of God (CSM 2:40). Rene Descartes understands and identifies that God s will is
certainly much higher than man s own in power. Though, Descartes also confesses that regardless
of this, God s will does not seem any greater than mine when considered as will in the essential and
strict sense. (CSM 2:40)

Julius Caesar Bust Essay
Since the ancient mesopotamian civilizations sculptures have played a crucial role in society and
history. Sculptures and busts have served varying purposes as far back as prehistory. They served
as guides for young women to understand their role as child bearer. Ancient civilizations began the
practice of sculpting gods and deities in order worship and comprehend their divine nature. Others
use busts and sculptures represent kings. Often times propagandic in nature, these depictions of
rulers often time presented the elite in a powerful and regal manner. Once the reign of the leaders
end, often due to death, busts and sculptures are created in their image to preserve their legacy.
Funerary busts were not just made for the aristocratic elite... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Ultimately, the Greeks achieved mastery of human anatomy and proportion. After the Greek
civilization came the Roman Empire. The Romans captured the essence of the Greek style and
added their own personal flair to the sculpture. Though, their sculptures mostly mimicked the
Greeks it also provided a unique historical record and a deeper perspective of the ancient rulers
of the time and Roman dictator Julius Caesar is no exception. Many busts were sculpted of
Julius Caesar throughout his lifetime and after his reign. These busts ranged from materials such
as bronze, marble, terracotta, and most distinctly green schist. The green schist bust of Julius
Caesar is a 16 inch sculpture sculpted after his death. The bust was created with the many ideals
of proportion and realism established by the Greeks, that were later adopted by the Romans. This
sculpture chooses to throw away the classical style of idealism and takes on a defining sense of
precise realism. Gloria states that these busts are, unflattering as for they are honest .... In their
lack of idealization and their affection for literal detail they reveal Roman sculpture as a record of
commonplace reality. The bust of Julius Caesar is significant in Roman history because it gives
insight into Roman ideals for art and architecture, it provides a historical reference of Julius Caesar,
and it demonstrates the importance of the ancestral legacy of the Ancient

I Have An Avid Golfer
I have been an avid golfer, ever since I was five years old. I aspired to be like the profession ladies I
would watch golf on TV. Before my eight grade year, I thought it would be a good idea to attend an
LPGA event. At this age, it would be perfect, because I am young enough that I can get into these
tournamentfor free with an adult, and I am old enough that I would know what to watch for when
I am there. The only problem was, I had to pick a tournament that I could possibly be able to play
in one day. For most tournaments, there are certain requirements you have to meet to play in. Also,
all of the LPGAevents were not close to Nebraska, they are all either on the coasts of the U.S. or in
another country.
The only tournament ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For professionals, that already have their tour card, they can enter into this tournament, along with
either being on the top 20 in tournament winnings, top 50 on the money list/Rolex Rankings, or
again have a sponsorship. So, in my dreams I could possibly qualify and participate in this
tournament one day.
There are around 160 players that qualify for this tournament and play on Thursday and Friday,
but to play for the weekend, they have to make the cut. To make the cut, the players have to shoot
four over par, which makes for high competition to make the cut. This would leave around 70 ladies
that would make the cut that get to play the rest of the weekend.
A few days before my dad and I leave for the tournament, I mentally prepare myself to know what
I m going to look for while I m there, so I can hopefully apply what I see to improve my game.
This would be a great learning experience for me. To watch the professionals and evaluate their
swings, alignment, etc. to apply to my golf game. So, when I start getting serious about golfing and
enter high school or enter into summer tournaments, I can be ahead of the game. Also, to know
what kind of competition I will have to deal with if I ever enter into this tournament.
So, my dad and I get to our hotel Wednesday night. We settle in before the next day to go to the
tournament. Thursday morning, we wake up bright

Love And Responsibility In A. S. Byatt s The Pink Ribbon
A. S. Byatt s story, The Pink Ribbon, is about the havoc wreaked on a marriage as a result of a
traumatic experiences, as well as how the struggle between duty and love manifests itself. In this
story, a man doing what he thinks is his duty becomes overwhelmed with feelings of anger, fear,
and resentment after his transition from spouse to caretaker. Through seemingly imagined
encounters with a beautiful young woman, this man is reminded of his wife and what it is like to
have meaningful contact with another person, which causes him to make a choice in the name of
mercy, both for himself and his wife. Byatt shows the deterioration of James and Madeleine s
relationship through the use of diction, irony, and symbols. As a result of those... Show more content

The word mass is used to describe Mado or her characteristics around the beginning of the story.
The word is first used in order to describe her hair, which implies a loss of her former beauty and
strength. The second time it is mentioned it is used to describe her brain as a mass of thick
plaques and tangles of meaningless stuff (201 202), which shows how absent she really is in
their relationship due to her dementia. She is no longer an active participant in their relationship,
rather she is just kind of there. The word intelligent, or some form of it, is used throughout much
of the story. Madeleine valued and embraced her own intelligence and that of others, while Mado
is not even capable of coherent thought or speech. Mado s inability to hold even a simple
conversation with anyone only emphasizes the one sidedness of James and Madeleine s current
relationship. The word intelligent also serves as a form of irony in the story by showing the
differences between Madeleine and Mado. Madeleine was a teacher before WWII, while during and
after the war she worked in the aptly named intelligence department. Mado, on the other hand, finds
enjoyment in fantastical television shows that were created for children. Another source of irony is
the fact that although she became ill and completely lost herself, Madeleine still remained the
dominant person in the relationship. Before her dementia Madeleine was the more direct

How Mikhail Gorbachev Changed America s Economy
Hundred twenty years ago a boy destined for greatness. A boy destined to reshape the world was
lost before he could. This boy is Mikhail Gorbachev. He was born in March, 1931 to a Russian
Ukraine family who lived in poverty. Mikhail lived through the horrendous soviet famine. His
uncles were exiled to Siberia. In the midst of all this misfortune, he managed to graduate from
Moscow State University with a degree in law. Not so long after, he became general secretary of
the Communist party on March 11, 1985 after Chernenko s death. Ultimately, Mikhail ended the
cold war, dismantled the community power on Russia, and the Soviet union. Also took down the
Berlin wall. However, this would entirely perish when a straightforward trip turns catastrophe.
It is the August of two thousand fifty. Exactly sixty five years ago the Cold War came to an end.
As a result America s economy was boomting. Unemployment was non existent, business was
booming, and America actually housed the worlds most billionaires. Not only was the United
States prospering but Russia too. Russia was also had a impressive economy. Both countries now

Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Essay
Principles of Physics in Ultrasound
Physics has become an important part of medicine allowing specialist doctors and radiographers to
rapidly access a patient s condition and to help in long term diagnosis.
This enables doctor s to treat patients before their condition deteriorates.
This procedure would not be possible without the use of X rays, CAT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound
and endoscopes, which allow doctors to see inside the body with little or no surgery.
Without such equipment doctors would be forced to use invasive techniques, which could cause
patients more harm as it increases the risk of infection.

The early work in the 20th century used ultrasound as a therapy tool and it was not until the 1940 s
that research began into its use as a diagnostic tool.
The use of ultrasound in medicine began during and shortly after the 2nd World War in various
centres around the world. (NSC, UK national screening committee)
The work of Dr.Karl Theodore Dussik in Austria in 1942 on transmission ultrasound investigation of
the brain provided the first published work on medical ultrasonic s.
Although other workers in the USA, Japan and Europe have also been cited as pioneers, the work
of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues in Glasgow, in the mid 1950s, did much to facilitate the
development of practical technology and applications.
This lead to the wider use of ultrasound in medical practice in the subsequent decades.
Rapid technological advances in electronics and piezoelectric materials provided further
improvements from energy to greyscale images, and from still images to real time moving images.
The technical advances at this time led to a rapid growth in the applications to which ultrasound
could be put.
The development of Doppler ultrasound had been progressing alongside the imaging technology,
but the fusing of the two technologies in Duplex scanning and the subsequent development of
colour Doppler imaging provided even more scope for investigating the

A Method Of Preventing School Shootings
A method of preventing school shootings would be to acknowledge risk factors that the student
is facing. For example, bullying is a risk factor for school shootings. In a research study done in
2001 of 37 school shootings, it was reported that 75% of the school shooters felt bullied,
threatened, or injured by others in which most of the shooters in the report had experienced long
term bullying and harassment from their peers (Duplechain Morris, 2014). In addition, the
authors do state: School personnel too often accept that children get teased and bullied every day,
because teachers, parents, students, and other adults have grown up thinking that bullying is a
normal part of school life. It has easily become an accepted part of today s school culture (Ibid,
2014). The authors believe that schools view bullying as something that students should get used
to. This does show how bullying is an issue in schools. It is not solely to blame in regards to
school shootings, but is a risk factor for them. Relationships and past traumas are risk factors for
school shootings (Duplechain Morris, 2014). The author states in regards to relationships and
school shootings
The lack of attachment with their parents or caregivers at the beginning of their life to some of the
school shooters. Sueng Hui Cho, who was the shooter of the Virginia Tech Massacreon April 16,
2007 suffered from this kind of risk factor. Cho did not communicate with his parents or those

Baraka And Kaufman
Question: What can be seen by examining the nexus of marginalized experiences expressed in both
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka s poetry (using critical race theory and queer theory), which
centers on homophobia and racism, and produces cultural isolation, alienation/imprisonment, and a
devastating psychic loneliness.
Question: How does the subject presented in Bob Kaufman and Amiri Barak s poetry polarize a
shift in American Culture and thus redefine what it means to be an American.
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka as poet activists drew influence from William Blake and Arthur
Rimbaud by adopting and building on their poetic techniques of self mythologization and self

Correspondingly, [Allen] Ginsberg s and [William] Burroughs s homosexuality is consumed as
decontextualized, as if there were no gay culture in which these men participated (or didn t), and as
if this status as lonely Other served merely to enhance their glamour for a straight white
counterculture. (Damon 141). This completely ignores that fact that in San Francisco where
Kaufman lived, and in New York where Baraka lived, the Beat culture lived in close and
overlapping proximity with a burgeoning gay male community which had cultural but as yet no
political visibility (141). During the Beat Generation, the black man was a source of fear and desire
for white men both gay and straight. In this space the Black hipster carried a presumed
straightness (144). In her essay Triangulated Desire and Tactical Silences in the Beat Hipscape:

Kanban Pros And Cons
Kanban (literally signboard or billboard) is a system for scheduling for lean and just in time (JIT)
production. It is a controlling system the logistical chain from a view of production, and is not an
inventory control system. Taiichi Ohno developed Kanban, at Toyota, to find a system for
improvement and maintainence of high level of production.
Kanban became an effective tool in support of running a production system as one, and it has
proved by becoming an excellent way for promoting improvement. Areas where problems occurred
were highlighted by reducing the number of kanbans in circulation.
Origin of KANBAN:
In the late 1940s, Toyota started studying supermarkets with the idea of apply storing and shelf
stocking techniques to the factory floor. At a supermarket, the required quantity is only obtained
by the customers at the required time, no more or less. Furthermore, what it is expected to sell
within a given time frame is only stocked by the supermarket, and only what is needed by the
customers they take, since supply in the future is assured. This observation of the supermarket led
Toyota to viewing the processes as being a customer of one or more preceding processes, and the

through e mail notifications. When the stocks of a particular component gets depleted by the
quantity assigned on kanban card, a kanban trigger is created (which can be manual or automatic),
an order for purchasing is released with the predefined quantity for the vendor defined on the card,
and the vendor is expected to dispatch the material within a specified lead

Effective Use Of Rhetoric In Old Spice Commercials
Rhetoric is a common method used by many people involved in a company s marketing, the
purpose is to discretely convey certain feelings towards an audience. Commercials and
advertisements are more than likely the most common of these as many of us watch television
and thus are exposed to many rhetoric commercials without realizing, such as the Old Spice
commercials. The old spice commercials tend to appeal towards not only men but also women.
During the commercial, most of the scenery tends to be in tropical places which creates a feeling
of paradise. This scenery appeals to the women but as the rhetorician challenges the men s
masculinity throughout the commercial it also appeals to men. Men will view the commercial as a

The Importance Of Social Class In Great Expectations By...
In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens shows that social classes existed but didn t limit the
characters. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book
makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated
them and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing
the social classes. Charles Dickensin Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not
limited to their social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make
changes to social classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by
Charles Dickens, Pip is portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a
poor blacksmith with common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in
the courtyard to look at my course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows
how Pip is becoming aware that his clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he
wanted to change his lifestyle to become a gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded
all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical
bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has accomplished his goal of changing his
social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work showing that social classes do not
limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens portrays how characters are
not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard work helps achieve goals.
People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the
society were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip
thought only that he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots
were thick; that I had fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more
ignorant than I had considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way.
(Dickens, 782). This shows how Pip thought of himself having a bad life because he was poor and
how thoughts of people being rich unlike him made

reason why, I feel that the righteousness of God is earned. Simply because Romans 1:17 states
that For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from
first to last, [a] just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17).
Paul tells us that righteousness is given to the people, by God in verse 1:17. In this passage Paul
reveals the revelation of God; he is the revelation of the righteousness (van Aarde 1). God
pardons those who repent of their sins , while punishing the wicked , [this shows the
righteousness that God gives the people] (Sanders 305). He God gives all a chance to ask for
forgiveness of their sins. It is the righteousness and tender mercy that the Lord has over his people.
Some may beg to different and say that it s the covenant promise that makes us righteous. Because
God made a promise to all man before we entered the world, they feel that righteousness is given. I

Workmen s Auto Insurance Company V. Guy Carpenter, Inc.
Are Insurance Brokers Agents Fiduciaries?
Insurers, insureds, and even their attorneys frequently incorrectly assume that insurance agents and
brokers owe fiduciary duties to their insureds. While the law is not completely clear regarding the
applicability of agency principles and their fiduciary duties in this area, legal precedent can offer
some guidance on the issue. Currently, there is no appellate precedent permitting an insured to sue
its agent or broker under a common law action for breach of fiduciary duty. However, the
California courts have yet to be willing to rule that the cause of action based on common law
agency principles is completely inapplicable to brokers and agents.
Demonstrative of the Court s unwillingness to create a bright line rule is the heavily litigated case
of Workmen s Auto InsuranceCompany v. Guy Carpenter Co., Inc. In 2011, the Court of Appeal
in Workmen s answered the question regarding fiduciary duties of brokers and agents definitively
in the negative, ruling that an insurance broker cannot be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. The
ruling finally provided the guidance and rule necessary to put the issue to rest. However, the relief
was short lived when in 2012, after a rehearing that affirmed the Court s ruling, the opinion was
vacated and depublished, again leaving the law in this area without ... Show more content on

The Presidential Campaign
Levy (2016) states that Struggling to make ends meet, Ben Carson s 2016 Republican presidential
campaign woes continued Thursday with the announcement of a reorganization that cost dozens of
paid staffers their jobs. This statement shows the impact that finances have on the US presidential
campaigns. It follows that the fate of the presidential candidates fate relies on organization and by
extension, their pockets.
Private financing forms the biggest percentage of political parties funding and their candidates
which comes with both dangers and virtues. While enabling political parties or candidates to
engage the electorate better stands as a virtue, the financing also poses considerable risk to
democracy. The main concern is the source of money which could be from illegal or criminal
activities aimed at curtailing the course of justice. The main concern among the electorate is the
upholding of impunity and buying influence by the campaign financiers.
Obama Romney Campaign
In the last US elections, the front runners were the current president Obama and the republican
candidate mitt Romney. According to Vogel, Levinthal and Tarini (2012), the camping used $
1.123 billion for Obama and $ 1.019 billion for Romney which was debuted as the most expensive
presidential election in the history of US presidential campaigns.

The Different Sports Each Breed Does (Quarter horse and Thoroughbred) The Quarter horse is a
common breed that does many different kinds of sports. The main sports that the Quarter horse is
found to compete in is rodeo events, horse racing, and some jumping events. These horses are very
common in the United States especially for these different sports that they do (Blocksdorf, 2018).
The Quarter horse is very known to be a western riding horse, especially back in the old time
western days. Nowadays these horses are most commonly known to be race horses. These horses
are used for short distance racing, because they are very fast but only for a short distance. Many

dressage which is basically horse dancing. Both of these sports takes unique skills for the horse to
be able to do. Not all Quarter horse are able to do these sports. The Quarter horse is used in many
different sports today (Huggett, 2018).
The Thoroughbred is found in many of the same sports as the Quarter horse. The most commonly

and prompted a national debate on gun control and school safety, as well as a major investigation
to determine what motivated the gunmen, Eric Harris, 18, and Dylan Klebold, 17. There was

It initially was reported that one student, Cassie Bernall, was asked by one of the gunmen if she

a book titled She Said Yes, honoring their daughter. However, it later was determined the question
was not posed to Bernall but to another student who already had been wounded by a gunshot.
When that victim replied, Yes, the shooter walked away. Subsequent investigations determined
Harris and Klebold chose their victims randomly, and the two teens originally had intended to
bomb their school, potentially killing hundreds of people. There was speculation that Harris and
Klebold committed the killings because they were members of a group of social outcasts called
the Trenchcoat Mafia that was fascinated by Goth culture. It also was speculated that Harris and
Klebold had carried out the shootings as retaliation for being bullied. Additionally, violent video
games and music were blamed for influencing the killers. However, none of these theories was

discovered the teens had been planning for a year to bomb the school in an attack similar to the

How To Replace Your Roof
Is your roof starting to show its age? Are you wondering whether it s time to replace your roof or
if you can get by with a simple repair? Although you should ask a roofing professional about
your roof in particular, here are some different issues and what they might mean for your roof:
Missing shingles: It s almost inevitable that your roof will start to loose shingles as it ages.
When a large storm blows through, it shouldn t be too big a surprise if you find that one or more
shingles have gone missing as a result. If it s just a few shingles from a small section of your
roof, then roofing repair may still be a good option for you. But if your roof has lost a several
shingles from all across your roof, it may be time to replace the whole thing. Each shingle that
falls off means that any or all the six or eight shingles around it may also need to be replaced
during the course of the repair. If it looks like you may have to pull up a significant portion your
roof in order to replace the damaged shingles, pulling up the whole roof and replacing it may
actually end up costing less than the repair.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
While this may be true, it may also be that your roof flashing has gone bad. The flashing on your
roof is strips of metal that get nailed down underneath the shingles. It goes in your roof valleys,
on the peaks and around any vents and helps prevent water from entering your home. When the
flashing gets reused, instead of replaced, it can be all but impossible to use the exact same nail
holes as before. As a result, water may eventually start to leak into your home. Fortunately, this
roof repair is rather simple and should only require a small portion of your shingles to be
temporarily removed so that the flashing can be replaced

Comparing Brazilian Business Culture with German Business...
What is culture?
Background
What is culture? How can culture be defined? How is culture influenced? Searching in books or on
the Internet, hundreds of different definitions of culture can be found. Each person has his or her
own opinion of how culture should be defined. The term somebody is cultured is often heard. But
what defines actually a culture? Before comparing parts of the Brazilian business culture with
German business culture, the idea of culture itself must be defined. After that, their business
relationships can be scrutinized by using the technique of critical incidents.
In 1871, the anthropologist Edward B. Taylor was one of the first to define culture as That complex
whole which includes knowledge, beliefs, art, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The following model from the anthropologist Edward T Hall shows what is actually noticeable in
a culture and how the first contact of a foreigner in a new culture feels. Like with an iceberg, only
a small fraction of a culture can be seen.
The model shows that the most parts of our culture are actually hidden. The outward behavior is
the visible part of a culture and can be seen by foreigners. Art, clothing, food, music and language
are examples of the visible part.
The values, beliefs and norms of a society for example friendship, the view on the world, and
religious beliefs are invisible and can be only understood through interaction. They can be only
learned by interaction for example through interviewing the members of this particular society.

dreams come true with faith and hard work. Our theme my senior year was Face your Giant , and I
faced my giant with the people in my important picture.
Our theme, Face your Giant , was inspired by the Biblical story of David and Goliath. David was a

Slaughterhouse s Wastewater Treatment Plant
The influent, after screening and decanting is stored to the flow and organic load equalization
tank and then inflows at a rate of QF = 80m3 d 1 to the SNdN activated sludge system. The SNdN
system actually functions as an autonomous treatment plant where oxidation of organic pollutants,
nitrification/denitrification and suspended solids sedimentation are taking place. Furthermore a
sludge recycling from the secondary clarifier to the aeration tank is performed so as to ensure the
required microbiological load (5000 В± 450 mg L 1). The aeration tank of the SNdN activated
sludgesystem operates under low D.O. concentration (between 0,2 to 0,7 mg L 1). According to
Mercalf and Eddy (2003), under low D.O. concentration conditions, low nitrification rates result, as
the activated sludge floc will be partially aerobic. Denitrification occurs in the anoxic zones within
the floc particles due to oxygen depletion. These conditions results nitrogen removal in a single
aeration tank, referred as simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (Mercalf and Eddy, 2003).
In such systems, although usually both nitrification and denitrification are occurring at low rates,
relative high SRT and HRT values achieves significant nitrogen removal (Mercalf and Eddy,
2003). The SRT and HRT values of the SNdN system studied are 29 and 0,75 days respectively.
Subsequently the overflowing effluent of the SNdN system is then transferred for further treatment

Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism...
Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms,
these are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens
need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s
body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain
healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an
organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence
against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous
membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences
takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is
followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific
and specific.
(Rowland, 1992)
Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin
is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist
of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of
micro organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains

Behavior Modification Case Study Essay
Case Study Mark As a teacher having one student that cause disruptions and distractions in the
classroom can be a problem. This is due to the distractions that the student poses for those around
them and the typical disrespect that is shown to the teacher. Behavior modification can be done
for students but this process can take time, but the time it takes can also yield rewards. In this
case study we will be finding ways to modify a Mark s behavior, who is a 6th grader that poses
problems within the classroom.
Behavioral Theories Mark is often finding way to disrupt others in the classroom and tends to
not only distract those around himself, but his actions also affect his work completion. He is a
class clown who for his behavior has been reprimanded thorugh a number of ways. His behavior
is not longer acceptable, and his actions are causing him to spend more time out of class than he
should. The first step is to identify what behavrior theory fits Mark s leanred behavior. Mark s
leanerd behavior theory would be best at Operant Conditioning. This means that Mark would
benefit from Behavior modification techniques based on operant conditioning. The main principle
comprises changing environmental events that are related to a person s behavior (McLeod, 2007).
This would allow the teacher to create a plan for Mark, that targets specific behaviors and from
these behaviors Mark would learn that there are both consequences and rewards for specific actions.

Why Did The Confederate Lose The Civil War Analysis
1.Why did the Confederacy lose the Civil War? What changes in military strategy, commanders, and
prosecution of the war finally secured Union victory in the end?
Multiple factors contributed to the Confederacy losing the Civil War; a lack of resources for the
South, a change in military strategy from the Southern leadership, the failures of the Confederate
leadership to combat evolving Union aggressive military strategy, and prosecution of Union
prisoners of war.
First, the South had a myriad of disadvantages when compared to the North is terms of a lack of

The Union s resolve to finish re unification was strengthened by contempt for the Confederacy s
treatment of Union soldiers during the war, specifically black soldiers, which became relevant
after the1863 Emancipation Proclamation became official and black soldiers joined the army.
The event that sparked anger in the North took place on July 1863 when several prisoners from
the 54th Massachusetts were not exchanged with the rest of the white soldiers who participated
is the assault on Fort Wagner. This led Lincoln to issue General Order 252, which effectively
suspended the Dix Hill Cartel until Confederate forces agreed to treat black prisoners the same as
white prisoners. This led to a large scale effort to house captured soldiers on both sides. This
however led to South erecting one of the most notorious prisoner of war camps Andersonville

Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour
The Story of an Hour Analysis Don t be quick to jump to conclusions, not everything is what it
appears to be. Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour is a great representation of this.
Chopin s story is about the thoughts of a woman named Louise Mallard, after she is told that her
husband has died in an accident. The use of an omniscient third person narrator helps the reader
understand what all the characters are thinking. The setting correlates the title and the duration of
the story, all events in the story took place within an hour. The irony adds depth to the story, in the
beginning Louise thinks her husband has died, but then, she dies herself in the end. Chopin s use of
narration, setting, and irony clearly summarizes the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If the story was told in first person, by Louise, the reader wouldn t get the full effect of the story,
since she dies at the end. Also the narrator gives Louise an excuse for acting so different when
she finds out her husband is dead. There was something coming to her and she was waiting for
it, fearfully. What was it? She did not know; it was too subtle and elusive to name. But she felt it,
creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, and the color that
filled the air (Chopin 550). The narrator makes it sound like it s not Louise s fault that she feels
happy that her husband has died. And concludes that her feelings are occurring because she feels
free from her husband. If it were told in first person, Louise would seem very apathetic and
neglectful towards the situation. In addition, the narrator explains how Louise s sister
communicates the bad news. It was her sister Josephine who told her, in broken sentences; veiled
hints that revealed in half concealing (Chopin 549). The way Josephine tells her sister about the
tragedy is so indirect, that the narrator shields the reader from this news just as Josephine

social networking sites
CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW Introduction The Internet is more than just a means of
seeking information. People discovered that the Internet could be used to connect with other
people, whether for business or commercial purpose, make new friends, reawaken old friends
and long lost relatives. The emergence of social networking sites (SNSs) simplify the whole
process as majority of them are free to use, they are easier to use and navigate, because it does not
require advanced knowledge and experience of the internet and are made up of a wide array of
different formats and topics; this means that just about anyone can connect. Currently, there are
hundreds of SNSs that can draw millions of people, with diverse technological affordances.... Show

The profile is generated using the answers to these questions, which typically include descriptors
such as age, location, interests, and an about me section. Most sites also encourage users to
upload a profile photo. Some sites allow users to enhance their profiles by adding multimedia
content or modifying their profile s look and feel. Others, such as Facebook, allow users to add
modules ( Applications ) that enhance their profile. The visibility of a profile varies by site and
according to user discretion. By default, profiles on Friendster and Tribe.net are crawled by
search engines, making them visible to anyone, regardless of whether or not the viewer has an
account. Alternatively, LinkedIn controls what a viewer may see based on whether she or he
has a paid account. Sites like MySpace allow users to choose whether they want their profile to
be public or Friends only. Facebook takes a different approach by default, users who are part of
the same network can view each other s profiles, unless a profile owner has decided to deny
permission to those in their network. Structural variations around visibility and access are one of
the primary ways that SNSs differentiate themselves from each other. (Boyd, 2006) After joining a
social network site, users are prompted to identify others in the system with whom they have a
relationship. The label for these relationships differs depending on the site popular terms include
Friends, Contacts, and Fans.

Poetry Research And Analysis Essay
Poetry Research and Analysis Essay
Persuasive
Wouldn t it be great if everything was just black and white, unfortunately that s not always the
case? To me, the answer to the question regarding song lyrics being poetry is more complicated
than yes or no. I think it falls in the gray area in the middle. In respect to that, I will discuss the fact
that poetry and songs can be different in structure yet very similar in meaning; that without the
voice implemented in the music, songs loose poetic and emotional value; and that the amount of
literary merit does not define something as poetry and something that is not.
Research

I agree strongly with this fact, a haiku and its three lines and 17 words is just as much poetry as an
epic. Literary devices do not define something as poetry or not.
Analysis
Despite the similarities, and plethora of areas to compare these two a distinction should be
made. While both are intertwined with the usage of literary devices they should not be
compared. With that being said, the artist who I believe most successfully infuses his lyrics with
poetic strokes is Logic. Therefore, the rest of this essay will be devoted to analyzing and
celebrating Logic s two pieces, Black Spiderman and Flexicution Logic or Robert Bryson Hall came
from a broken home where he didn t always have someone to look up to. However through music
he found a man he could idolize. Robert Bryson Hall also refers to himself as Young Sinatra , as
Frank Sinatra s work has had a huge impression on him ( Logic s Biography 1). Logic, like
Sinatra, started his music career at a young age. Unlike his idol though Logic s childhood was
very rough as both his parents were alcoholic and addicted to drugs ( Logic s Biography 1).
Logic s troubled childhood took place in a smaller town in Maryland just north of Washington
D.C. Every person has their skeletons they try to find an escape from, Logic s escape was film.

Healthcare Challenges Of Health Care
GMFCs Health Care Challenges Health care costs in America have been on the rise for quite
some time. Majority of employees obtain some level of health care insurance through their

accessibility and accessibility continues to rise due to soaring health care costs (Cole
McCullough, 2006). Private sector company s, such as GMFC, are faced with making harsh
financial decisions on benefits impacting their employees. As a multidivisional company, GMFC
employs over 50,000 employees and is faced with the same rising cost expenditures many other
corporations are faced with. This paper will address and describe GMFCs currently state of health
benefits and concerns, compare and contrast the benefits of using Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act (PPACA) benefits on future health care alternative benefits at GMFC to
commence bargaining renegotiations with the Local 385 union, to ensure the overall financial
posture of GMFC. Health Care Benefits GMFC s current health care coverage with Vesuvius
Health Care (VCA) is considered one of the largest health care insurance companies in the United
States. Currently VCA has been utilized for procedures and negotiating payment levels with
various health care providers across the U.S. As a result of rising costs, PPACA is now requiring

Aryan Imperialism
Hitler had special plans for Denmark. He regarded Denmark as a fellow Aryan nation that shared
its Nordic roots with Germany. According to Nazi ideology s scale of racial standing, the Aryan
race represented by the German elite was superior. The Nordic race was a close second and the
most authoritative dogmatists [including Alfred Rosenberg and Joseph Goebbels] of the Nazi
creed have repeatedly pointed to Scandinavia as the true home of the glorious Nordic race. In
addition, Hitler also believed specifically that the peninsula that makes up the majority of Denmark,
the Jutland, was mythically the ancestral home of the Nordic race. Denmark would therefore not be
treated like another conquered country but as an ally. Instead, it would... Show more content on

In response, Hitler received a telegram that simply said, MY UTMOST THANKS, CHRISTIAN
REX. Although the actual German text ( SPRECHE MEINEN BESTEN DANK AUS ) was no

some of his advisors in Berlin, Hitler adopted the idea that Denmark had become too defiant and
uncooperative in its role as a protectorate. According to several German officials, such as Gestapo
senior official Rudolf Mildner, And ever since then Hitler hated Denmark. Ribbentrop ordered
Renthe Fink to deliver a message of protest to the Danish government on September 29 and recalled
him immediately back to Berlin. The Danish envoy stationed in Berlin was also requested to return

The Role of the Leader in Evaluating Data to Improve Quality and Safety
Quality and Safety has been recognized as important issues in creating the delivery of effective
and responsive health care. To improve Quality and Safety the leader must analyze data and
interpret the information to develop a system for clinical performance by motivating, supervising,

The data shows that ninety four percent of the falls reported were patients prescribed diuretics.
Diuretics have the capacity to cause dehydration by fluid volume depletion, increase the urge to
void, potentially causes dizziness and cause postural hypotension therefore increasing the risk of
falls in all patients but is increased in older women (Lim, 2009). Telemetry unit have more patients
with arrhythmias and other cardiac related problems and are often prescribed diuretic,
anticoagulants, antihypertensive and other cardiac medications, which can increase the risk of falls
(Carey, 2001).
Quality Improvement Plan The quality management process involves review of the data that tracks
activities and outcomes. Six sigma is a quality management program that focuses on the patient, the
data collected provides evidence of the results and the emphasis is on the processes used within the
system (Sullivan, 2013). A risk managementplan would identify risk for injuries, accidents and
financial losses, it would review the monitoring system, analyze the data and identify ways to
eliminate or reduce the risks. A continuous quality improvement plan for fall prevention needs to be
established because falls are the leading cause of fatal and nonfatal

The Structure And Function Of Cell Organelles
The Structure and Function of Cell Organelles
Cells are surrounded with a boundary known as the cell surface membrane and as well as holding
the cell together, being semi permeable, it controls the movement of materials across it. Within the
cell are a number of structures each which have specific functions. These structures are known as
organelles. The cell surface membrane and the membranes of any of the membrane bound
organelles described below are made of the same material, a double layer of phospholipid
molecules. Within the cell surface membrane, the intracellular space known as the cytoplasm,
contains all the organelles and a fluid known as cytosol. Within the cytosol is a network of
microtubules and fibres called the cytoskeleton. This cytoskeleton s main functions are to give
support to the cell helping to maintain its shape and aid the movement of organelles. Most cell
organelles and structures are common to both animal and plant cells but there are some differences

Newton s Third Law INTRODUCTION Newton s Third Law is one of the fundamental symmetry principles of the universe which states that For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction [1] .In simple words it means that for every action there is a reaction, which is equal to the magnitude of the force applied but opposes the direction of the action. Truck 1 is connected to Channel A and Truck 2 is connected to Truck2. Before taking the readings, the TARE button located on top of the sensors was pressed in order to zero the readings. To confirm the proper working of the sensors the trucks are pushed but not made to collide and a straight line graph is observed. The sample rate set for the experiment is 200 Hz, which is not as slow as 10 Hz or not very fast as 1000 Hz. This enables us to acquire accurate results during the course of the experiment. • 3. A Brief Look at Richard LaGrevenese A Big Apple native born October 30, 1959, LaGravense grew up in Brooklyn and studied acting at New York University s experimental theater department at the Tisch School of Arts. As a student, he explored his skills with dialogue and formed a New York based comedy group, for which he also wrote sketches. His sketch material led to an offer by former Saturday Night Live writer Neil Levy, to co write the script for the 1989 release, Rude Awakening. He wrote (and sold) his first piece of writing for the off Broadway musical revue, My Name is Alice directed by Joan Michlin Silver. Mr. LaGravenese began his solo screenwriting career with his original screenplay The Fisher King, directed by Terry Gilliam. The film went on to earn five Academy Award nominations, including Best Screenplay, winning Best Supporting Actress for Mercedes Ruehl. Mr. LaGravenese directed his original screenplay for the critically acclaimed Living Out Loud starring Danny DeVito, Holly Hunter and Queen Latifah. He joined other directors for the omnibus Paris J taime with stars Fanny Ardent and Bob Hoskins. In 1995, LaGravenese gained additional acclaim with his screenplays for his popular adaptation of Frances Hodgson Burnetts A Little Princess. The Irony In Human Freedom And The Concept Of Determinism THE IRONY IN HUMAN FREEDOM AND THE CONCEPT OF DETERMINISM Having the topic of freedom concerns me a lot because it is certainly a tough thing to tackle and honestly in my 17 years of living I don t really know if I m capable of discussing such crucial concept in lined with my chosen philosopher. In contradiction with this, I want to challenge myself if I have this philosopher capability to oppose and fight the different concepts in the world regarding freedom specifically the notion of Rene Descartes. Descartes on Human Freedom Having consider that Rene Descartes believed the presence of human freedom, it is not discernible and clear what he held this freedom to consist in. Following to Descartes s argument that man are the supreme source of human mistake or error and certainly not God based on the Fourth Meditation, he offers and presents an interpretation of the activity of the human will and how it may be described as free will. Assumed that Descartes discusses the freedom of choice and will as similar and compatible in his argument, critics opt to emphasis on it to know Descartes s certain notions on human freedom. Descartes illustrates an analogy between human will and the divine, stressing that it is human will which is utmost perfect function because it lets them to bear in some way the image and likeness of God (CSM 2:40). Rene Descartes understands and identifies that God s will is certainly much higher than man s own in power. • 5. Julius Caesar Bust Essay Since the ancient mesopotamian civilizations sculptures have played a crucial role in society and history. Sculptures and busts have served varying purposes as far back as prehistory. They served as guides for young women to understand their role as child bearer. Ancient civilizations began the practice of sculpting gods and deities in order worship and comprehend their divine nature. Others use busts and sculptures represent kings. Often times propagandic in nature, these depictions of rulers often time presented the elite in a powerful and regal manner. Once the reign of the leaders end, often due to death, busts and sculptures are created in their image to preserve their legacy. Funerary busts were not just made for the aristocratic elite... The Romans captured the essence of the Greek style and added their own personal flair to the sculpture. Though, their sculptures mostly mimicked the Greeks it also provided a unique historical record and a deeper perspective of the ancient rulers of the time and Roman dictator Julius Caesar is no exception. Many busts were sculpted of Julius Caesar throughout his lifetime and after his reign. These busts ranged from materials such as bronze, marble, terracotta, and most distinctly green schist. The green schist bust of Julius Caesar is a 16 inch sculpture sculpted after his death. The bust was created with the many ideals of proportion and realism established by the Greeks, that were later adopted by the Romans. This sculpture chooses to throw away the classical style of idealism and takes on a defining sense of precise realism. Gloria states that these busts are, unflattering as for they are honest .... In their lack of idealization and their affection for literal detail they reveal Roman sculpture as a record of commonplace reality. The bust of Julius Caesar is significant in Roman history because it gives insight into Roman ideals for art and architecture, it provides a historical reference of Julius Caesar, and it demonstrates the importance of the ancestral legacy of the Ancient ... • 6. I Have An Avid Golfer I have been an avid golfer, ever since I was five years old. I aspired to be like the profession ladies I would watch golf on TV. Before my eight grade year, I thought it would be a good idea to attend an LPGA event. At this age, it would be perfect, because I am young enough that I can get into these tournamentfor free with an adult, and I am old enough that I would know what to watch for when I am there. The only problem was, I had to pick a tournament that I could possibly be able to play in one day. For most tournaments, there are certain requirements you have to meet to play in. For professionals, that already have their tour card, they can enter into this tournament, along with either being on the top 20 in tournament winnings, top 50 on the money list/Rolex Rankings, or again have a sponsorship. So, in my dreams I could possibly qualify and participate in this tournament one day. There are around 160 players that qualify for this tournament and play on Thursday and Friday, but to play for the weekend, they have to make the cut. To make the cut, the players have to shoot four over par, which makes for high competition to make the cut. This would leave around 70 ladies that would make the cut that get to play the rest of the weekend. A few days before my dad and I leave for the tournament, I mentally prepare myself to know what I m going to look for while I m there, so I can hopefully apply what I see to improve my game. This would be a great learning experience for me. To watch the professionals and evaluate their swings, alignment, etc. to apply to my golf game. So, when I start getting serious about golfing and enter high school or enter into summer tournaments, I can be ahead of the game. • 7. Love And Responsibility In A. S. Byatt s The Pink Ribbon A. S. Byatt s story, The Pink Ribbon, is about the havoc wreaked on a marriage as a result of a traumatic experiences, as well as how the struggle between duty and love manifests itself. In this story, a man doing what he thinks is his duty becomes overwhelmed with feelings of anger, fear, and resentment after his transition from spouse to caretaker. Through seemingly imagined encounters with a beautiful young woman, this man is reminded of his wife and what it is like to have meaningful contact with another person, which causes him to make a choice in the name of mercy, both for himself and his wife. The word mass is used to describe Mado or her characteristics around the beginning of the story. The word is first used in order to describe her hair, which implies a loss of her former beauty and strength. The second time it is mentioned it is used to describe her brain as a mass of thick plaques and tangles of meaningless stuff (201 202), which shows how absent she really is in their relationship due to her dementia. She is no longer an active participant in their relationship, rather she is just kind of there. The word intelligent, or some form of it, is used throughout much of the story. Madeleine valued and embraced her own intelligence and that of others, while Mado is not even capable of coherent thought or speech. Mado s inability to hold even a simple conversation with anyone only emphasizes the one sidedness of James and Madeleine s current relationship. The word intelligent also serves as a form of irony in the story by showing the differences between Madeleine and Mado. Madeleine was a teacher before WWII, while during and after the war she worked in the aptly named intelligence department. Mado, on the other hand, finds enjoyment in fantastical television shows that were created for children. Another source of irony is the fact that although she became ill and completely lost herself, Madeleine still remained the dominant person in the relationship. Before her dementia Madeleine was the more direct ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. How Mikhail Gorbachev Changed America s Economy Hundred twenty years ago a boy destined for greatness. A boy destined to reshape the world was lost before he could. This boy is Mikhail Gorbachev. He was born in March, 1931 to a Russian Ukraine family who lived in poverty. Mikhail lived through the horrendous soviet famine. His uncles were exiled to Siberia. In the midst of all this misfortune, he managed to graduate from Moscow State University with a degree in law. Not so long after, he became general secretary of the Communist party on March 11, 1985 after Chernenko s death. Ultimately, Mikhail ended the cold war, dismantled the community power on Russia, and the Soviet union. Also took down the Berlin wall. However, this would entirely perish when a straightforward trip turns catastrophe. It is the August of two thousand fifty. Exactly sixty five years ago the Cold War came to an end. As a result America s economy was boomting. Unemployment was non existent, business was booming, and America actually housed the worlds most billionaires. Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Essay Principles of Physics in Ultrasound Physics has become an important part of medicine allowing specialist doctors and radiographers to rapidly access a patient s condition and to help in long term diagnosis. This enables doctor s to treat patients before their condition deteriorates. This procedure would not be possible without the use of X rays, CAT scans, MRI scans, ultrasound and endoscopes, which allow doctors to see inside the body with little or no surgery. Without such equipment doctors would be forced to use invasive techniques, which could cause patients more harm as it increases the risk of infection. The early work in the 20th century used ultrasound as a therapy tool and it was not until the 1940 s that research began into its use as a diagnostic tool. The use of ultrasound in medicine began during and shortly after the 2nd World War in various centres around the world. (NSC, UK national screening committee) The work of Dr.Karl Theodore Dussik in Austria in 1942 on transmission ultrasound investigation of the brain provided the first published work on medical ultrasonic s. Although other workers in the USA, Japan and Europe have also been cited as pioneers, the work of Professor Ian Donald and his colleagues in Glasgow, in the mid 1950s, did much to facilitate the development of practical technology and applications. This lead to the wider use of ultrasound in medical practice in the subsequent decades. Rapid technological advances in electronics and piezoelectric materials provided further improvements from energy to greyscale images, and from still images to real time moving images. The technical advances at this time led to a rapid growth in the applications to which ultrasound could be put. The development of Doppler ultrasound had been progressing alongside the imaging technology, but the fusing of the two technologies in Duplex scanning and the subsequent development of colour Doppler imaging provided even more scope for investigating the ... • 10. A Method Of Preventing School Shootings A method of preventing school shootings would be to acknowledge risk factors that the student is facing. For example, bullying is a risk factor for school shootings. In a research study done in 2001 of 37 school shootings, it was reported that 75% of the school shooters felt bullied, threatened, or injured by others in which most of the shooters in the report had experienced long term bullying and harassment from their peers (Duplechain Morris, 2014). In addition, the authors do state: School personnel too often accept that children get teased and bullied every day, because teachers, parents, students, and other adults have grown up thinking that bullying is a normal part of school life. It has easily become an accepted part of today s school culture (Ibid, 2014). The authors believe that schools view bullying as something that students should get used to. This does show how bullying is an issue in schools. It is not solely to blame in regards to school shootings, but is a risk factor for them. Relationships and past traumas are risk factors for school shootings (Duplechain Morris, 2014). The author states in regards to relationships and school shootings The lack of attachment with their parents or caregivers at the beginning of their life to some of the school shooters. Sueng Hui Cho, who was the shooter of the Virginia Tech Massacreon April 16, 2007 suffered from this kind of risk factor. Cho did not communicate with his parents or those around him (Ibid, ... • 11. Baraka And Kaufman Question: What can be seen by examining the nexus of marginalized experiences expressed in both Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka s poetry (using critical race theory and queer theory), which centers on homophobia and racism, and produces cultural isolation, alienation/imprisonment, and a devastating psychic loneliness. Question: How does the subject presented in Bob Kaufman and Amiri Barak s poetry polarize a shift in American Culture and thus redefine what it means to be an American. Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka as poet activists drew influence from William Blake and Arthur Rimbaud by adopting and building on their poetic techniques of self mythologization and self othering. It is important to analyze these foundations because as Maria Damon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Correspondingly, [Allen] Ginsberg s and [William] Burroughs s homosexuality is consumed as decontextualized, as if there were no gay culture in which these men participated (or didn t), and as if this status as lonely Other served merely to enhance their glamour for a straight white counterculture. (Damon 141). This completely ignores that fact that in San Francisco where Kaufman lived, and in New York where Baraka lived, the Beat culture lived in close and overlapping proximity with a burgeoning gay male community which had cultural but as yet no political visibility (141). During the Beat Generation, the black man was a source of fear and desire for white men both gay and straight. In this space the Black hipster carried a presumed straightness (144). In her essay Triangulated Desire and Tactical Silences in the Beat Hipscape: Bob Kaufman and Others Maria Damon juxtaposes the poem Bagel Shop Jazz, which is a kind of exposГ© into the Beat poetic scene and Russell Fitzgerald s unpublished diary, which she deems to be the counter text to the aforementioned poem one illuminating the other. Nonetheless, The queer side of Bob Kaufman, such as it was, and of the Beat scene, is dramatically excised from the bagel shop poem which is framed precisely to exclude the formal presence of queers as a group that makes up the counterculture. It is a controlling system the logistical chain from a view of production, and is not an inventory control system. Taiichi Ohno developed Kanban, at Toyota, to find a system for improvement and maintainence of high level of production. Kanban became an effective tool in support of running a production system as one, and it has proved by becoming an excellent way for promoting improvement. Areas where problems occurred were highlighted by reducing the number of kanbans in circulation. Origin of KANBAN: In the late 1940s, Toyota started studying supermarkets with the idea of apply storing and shelf stocking techniques to the factory floor. At a supermarket, the required quantity is only obtained by the customers at the required time, no more or less. Furthermore, what it is expected to sell within a given time frame is only stocked by the supermarket, and only what is needed by the customers they take, since supply in the future is assured. • 14. The Importance Of Social Class In Great Expectations By... In Great Expectations, Charles Dickens shows that social classes existed but didn t limit the characters. The main character Pip starts off as a lower class blacksmith but throughout the book makes his way up the social classes. The social ranking a character had based how people treated them and how the character thought of themselves. Helping others can benefit success in climbing the social classes. Charles Dickensin Great Expectations, portrays that the characters were not limited to their social class, but that social rankings existed. Pip shows how hard work can make changes to social classes. Social classes can change with hard work. In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Pip is portrayed wealthy in his lifestyle compared to when he used to work as a poor blacksmith with common clothes. In the courtyard I took the opportunity of being alone in the courtyard to look at my course hands and my common boots (Dickens, 781). This shows how Pip is becoming aware that his clothes were the same as any other poor person and how he wanted to change his lifestyle to become a gentleman. While Estella is next to Pip he, we folded all my bills up uniformly, docketed each on the back, and tied the whole into a symmetrical bundle (Dickens, 861). This is suggesting that Pip has accomplished his goal of changing his social status and becoming a real gentleman with his hard work showing that social classes do not limit characters that they could move up or down the ranks. Dickens portrays how characters are not limited and held back due to the social level they had and how hard work helps achieve goals. People were based on their social classes. Charles Dickens shows that the way people in the society were treated and how Pip was self conscious because he was in the lower class. Pip thought only that he was a common labouring boy; that my hands were coarse; that my boots were thick; that I had fallen into a despicable habit of calling knaves jacks; that I was much more ignorant than I had considered myself last night, and generally that I was in a low lived bad way. (Dickens, 782). This shows how Pip thought of himself having a bad life because he was poor and how thoughts of people being rich unlike him made ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In this essay I will address the current question that many people have concerning the right way to interpret the meaning of righteousness. Proverbs 13:4 states that The soul of the sluggard craves and gets nothing, while the soul of the diligent is richly supplied (Bible Gateway, Prov. 13.4). This passage teaches us that the Lord rewards those try. This passage is the reason why, I feel that the righteousness of God is earned. Simply because Romans 1:17 states that For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, [a] just as it is written: The righteous will live by faith (Bible Gateway, Rom 1.17). Paul tells us that righteousness is given to the people, by God in verse 1:17. In this passage Paul reveals the revelation of God; he is the revelation of the righteousness (van Aarde 1). God pardons those who repent of their sins , while punishing the wicked , [this shows the righteousness that God gives the people] (Sanders 305). He God gives all a chance to ask for forgiveness of their sins. It is the righteousness and tender mercy that the Lord has over his people. Insurers, insureds, and even their attorneys frequently incorrectly assume that insurance agents and brokers owe fiduciary duties to their insureds. While the law is not completely clear regarding the applicability of agency principles and their fiduciary duties in this area, legal precedent can offer some guidance on the issue. Currently, there is no appellate precedent permitting an insured to sue its agent or broker under a common law action for breach of fiduciary duty. However, the California courts have yet to be willing to rule that the cause of action based on common law agency principles is completely inapplicable to brokers and agents. Demonstrative of the Court s unwillingness to create a bright line rule is the heavily litigated case of Workmen s Auto InsuranceCompany v. Guy Carpenter Co., Inc. In 2011, the Court of Appeal in Workmen s answered the question regarding fiduciary duties of brokers and agents definitively in the negative, ruling that an insurance broker cannot be sued for breach of fiduciary duty. Slaughterhouse s Wastewater Treatment Plant The influent, after screening and decanting is stored to the flow and organic load equalization tank and then inflows at a rate of QF = 80m3 d 1 to the SNdN activated sludge system. The SNdN system actually functions as an autonomous treatment plant where oxidation of organic pollutants, nitrification/denitrification and suspended solids sedimentation are taking place. Furthermore a sludge recycling from the secondary clarifier to the aeration tank is performed so as to ensure the required microbiological load (5000 В± 450 mg L 1). The aeration tank of the SNdN activated sludgesystem operates under low D.O. concentration (between 0,2 to 0,7 mg L 1). According to Mercalf and Eddy (2003), under low D.O. concentration conditions, low nitrification rates result, as the activated sludge floc will be partially aerobic. Denitrification occurs in the anoxic zones within the floc particles due to oxygen depletion. These conditions results nitrogen removal in a single aeration tank, referred as simultaneous nitrification and denitrification (Mercalf and Eddy, 2003). In such systems, although usually both nitrification and denitrification are occurring at low rates, relative high SRT and HRT values achieves significant nitrogen removal (Mercalf and Eddy, 2003). The SRT and HRT values of the SNdN system studied are 29 and 0,75 days respectively. Subsequently the overflowing effluent of the SNdN system is then transferred for further treatment in the PCMAS part of the WWTP. The PCMAS is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 36. Biological Structures And Processes Within An Organism... Human s body is constantly under attack by: bacteria, viruses and many other microorganisms, these are called pathogens. Our body is a rich source of water and nutrients that these pathogens need to survive, it is a perfect environment for them to live and develop. Nevertheless, human s body has its own way to protect itself from these invaders, therefore most of the time we remain healthy. Immune systemis a system of many biological structures and processes within an organism that provides a defence against disease. There are three major lines of our defence against pathogens. The first is to prevent their entry by defences of the skin and mucous membranes in the respiratory, digestive and urogenital tracts. If this fails, two internal defences takes over: an initial non specific inflammatory response to injury, or if this unsuccessful, is followed by specific immune response. Two major divisions of the immune response: non specific and specific. (Rowland, 1992) Non specific defence attacks any molecule, which the body recognises as being non self and skin is the first barrier that antigen needs to pass through. The first layer of the skin epidermis, consist of the layer of dead skin cells that lack of water and suitable food, which inhibits the growth of micro organisms inside the epidermis. Sebum, secreted by sebaceous gland in the skin, contains fatty acids, which are toxic to many microorganisms. Areas that are not covered by the skin have alternative ... • 37. Behavior Modification Case Study Essay Case Study Mark As a teacher having one student that cause disruptions and distractions in the classroom can be a problem. This is due to the distractions that the student poses for those around them and the typical disrespect that is shown to the teacher. Behavior modification can be done for students but this process can take time, but the time it takes can also yield rewards. In this case study we will be finding ways to modify a Mark s behavior, who is a 6th grader that poses problems within the classroom. Behavioral Theories Mark is often finding way to disrupt others in the classroom and tends to not only distract those around himself, but his actions also affect his work completion. He is a class clown who for his behavior has been reprimanded thorugh a number of ways. His behavior is not longer acceptable, and his actions are causing him to spend more time out of class than he should. The first step is to identify what behavrior theory fits Mark s leanred behavior. Mark s leanerd behavior theory would be best at Operant Conditioning. This means that Mark would benefit from Behavior modification techniques based on operant conditioning. The main principle comprises changing environmental events that are related to a person s behavior (McLeod, 2007). This would allow the teacher to create a plan for Mark, that targets specific behaviors and from these behaviors Mark would learn that there are both consequences and rewards for specific actions. What changes in military strategy, commanders, and prosecution of the war finally secured Union victory in the end? Multiple factors contributed to the Confederacy losing the Civil War; a lack of resources for the South, a change in military strategy from the Southern leadership, the failures of the Confederate leadership to combat evolving Union aggressive military strategy, and prosecution of Union prisoners of war. This led Lincoln to issue General Order 252, which effectively suspended the Dix Hill Cartel until Confederate forces agreed to treat black prisoners the same as white prisoners. This led to a large scale effort to house captured soldiers on both sides. This however led to South erecting one of the most notorious prisoner of war camps Andersonville Prison. Kate Chopin s short story, The Story of an Hour is a great representation of this. Chopin s story is about the thoughts of a woman named Louise Mallard, after she is told that her husband has died in an accident. The use of an omniscient third person narrator helps the reader understand what all the characters are thinking. The setting correlates the title and the duration of the story, all events in the story took place within an hour. She did not know; it was too subtle and elusive to name. But she felt it, creeping out of the sky, reaching toward her through the sounds, the scents, and the color that filled the air (Chopin 550). The narrator makes it sound like it s not Louise s fault that she feels happy that her husband has died. And concludes that her feelings are occurring because she feels free from her husband. If it were told in first person, Louise would seem very apathetic and neglectful towards the situation. In addition, the narrator explains how Louise s sister communicates the bad news. Others, such as Facebook, allow users to add modules ( Applications ) that enhance their profile. The visibility of a profile varies by site and according to user discretion. By default, profiles on Friendster and Tribe.net are crawled by search engines, making them visible to anyone, regardless of whether or not the viewer has an account. Alternatively, LinkedIn controls what a viewer may see based on whether she or he has a paid account. Sites like MySpace allow users to choose whether they want their profile to be public or Friends only. Facebook takes a different approach by default, users who are part of the same network can view each other s profiles, unless a profile owner has decided to deny permission to those in their network. Structural variations around visibility and access are one of the primary ways that SNSs differentiate themselves from each other. (Boyd, 2006) After joining a social network site, users are prompted to identify others in the system with whom they have a relationship. The label for these relationships differs depending on the site popular terms include Friends, Contacts, and Fans. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To me, the answer to the question regarding song lyrics being poetry is more complicated than yes or no. I think it falls in the gray area in the middle. In respect to that, I will discuss the fact that poetry and songs can be different in structure yet very similar in meaning; that without the voice implemented in the music, songs loose poetic and emotional value; and that the amount of literary merit does not define something as poetry and something that is not.
