Vaccination Argumentative
Every year, more than ten million vaccinations are given to children under the age one. Ten million
vaccinations just in babies, can you imagine the global number for all ages? Since the end of the 1700
century, vaccinations have built an immunity to many infectious diseases, saving millions of lives;
however with new controversy data shows that these vaccines could be causing more harm than good.
With the eradication of smallpox, vaccination numbers have skyrocketed and the effectiveness and
safety have been questioned. To begin with readers will gain basic knowledge on what a vaccine really
is and how it works.
Many people come into the clinic receiving vaccinations, unsure of how they work. A vaccine is a
product that produces immunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Evidence shows that some vaccinations are made from the cells of aborted fetuses and this doesn t fit
into many people s morals. Some contain ingredients like animal products that create conflicts with
vegetarian and vegan philosophers lifestyles. Others believe the side effects are minor and a
vaccination isn t required to solve these health problems. These are people s own beliefs and morals
on vaccinations.
Another reason is because people are fearful of receiving vaccinations. After 9/11 there was public
fear of bioterrorism, where someone would put harmful ingredients into vaccinations. Others were
afraid of the government warnings of the bird flu crossing the species barrier to infected humans. Then
there was the fear of the MMR vaccine causing problems related to autism. All these problems made
people very concerned about vaccinations. The advantages and disadvantages being told really make
people wonder.
With large numbers into thousands about people getting vaccinated, these debts are critical to our
nation as a whole. Are people not being informed enough about what they are? Is the history of
vaccinations better than the present? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? How do these
debts affect the future of tomorrow and its outlook on vaccinations? The future of vaccinations lies
within us and remains

Comparing The Stage And War Is Never Over
The poems The Stage, written by Avenged Sevenfold, and War Is Never Over, written by Cecil L.
Harrison, both suggest that life is a war disguised by a curtain of innocence. Both describe their
respective topics life and war in a negative light suggesting that neither is what it seems to be.
The way life is described as a performance in The Stage challenged me to consider what life might
look like to an audience. The poem is structured with the different stages of life in each stanza. This
shows the development of humankind, both individually and as a species. At the beginning of the
poem, the poet starts us off with So I arrived, naked and cold, suggesting both a newborn baby, and
the beginning of humanity. The poet says that the innocence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The poet uses the text to expose war as an eternal hell stating that War is never over in the many
soldiers and loved ones eyes. War Is Never Over reveals that freedom is fought for and that No
freedom is not free! The poem focuses on the after effects of war, for example, the memories of the
battles and the nightmares that ensue. For me, the poet uncovers that although tough times such as war
are resolved in the end, there are still many holes left by the aftereffects of that particular event. It is
not only the soldiers that suffer after the war, but also families and loved ones. Those left home to wait
know this. For many are still waiting. It was their farewell kiss. This led me to believe that the many
soldiers that left for war have most likely died or are missing in action leaving their families awaiting
their impossible return. At one stage, the poet goes as far as calling the soldiers heroes; however,
reveals to us that although they have come back home, in their minds they hold memories known to
them alone. This means that the soldiers have not fully recovered from the war and have to suffer from
the terrifying memories of their experiences during the war. I believe that Cecil L. Harrison wrote this
poem to warn the many people who overlook these after effects of war when joining due to the glory
that they assume they are going to receive when they come home. The reality is, many soldiers that go
off to war never come back. War Is Never Over reminds us of the sacrifices that many soldiers have
made to make sure that future generations would never have to share the memories that are still fresh
in their minds. The poem reminds us that War is never over. Though we win the victory, still in our
minds the battles. No freedom is not free! Ultimately, this led me to believe that the poem is meant as
a momento and warning for future

A Hanging By George Orwell Essay
A Hanging By George Orwell
A Reflective Essay on the Short Story A Hanging by George Orwell
The short story A Hanging by George Orwell illustrates the experience and intrigues surrounding the
hanging of a Hindu prisoner in Burma. Orwell dwells on the inhuman nature of capital punishment
and how the hangmen disregard the dignity of human life to commit a prisoner to the gallows.
Unarguably, the purpose of this non fiction story is to persuade the readers of the horrifying injustice
of subjecting a convict to the death penalty. As this reflective paper shall present, throughout the short
story, the author intelligently uses irony and sarcasm to manipulate the mood of the audience thereby
convincing the readers of his criticism of capital punishment and the barbaric administration of justice
in the Burma prisons.
To begin with, Orwell is explicitly against any administration of capital punishment on convicts. He
describes capital punishment as not only mysterious and unjustified, particularly when the individual
is in his most potential stage of life (Orwell, 2). In addition, he expresses his ... Show more content on

It is surprising that even the dog disapproves of capital punishment and behaves strangely as the
Hindu man is escorted to the gallows. The actions of the dog as the man is being escorted to the
gallows as the author describes demonstrates the equality of every human being. The dog does not
discriminate against anybody and instead embraces the condemned man (Orwell, 2). This is a very
symbolic action and with the surprise that ensued, there is a clear indication of the discontentment in
having to take somebody s life. Clearly, the symbolism of the dog creates an irony on how human
beings have failed to use their conscience to understand the value of human life. It also demonstrates
Orwell s position on capital punishment one that killing a human being is

Environmental Challenges Facing The American Automotive...
Environmental Challenges Facing the American Automotive Industry Since Henry Ford invented the
mass production techniques that made cars affordable to the public, the United State s economy has
been dramatically influenced by this key component in its affluence. Exponentially, jobs were created
because the auto business grew. Employees were needed for the constantly growing assembly lines.
Consequently, Ford s model Ts became the primary preferred, affordable, mass manufactured cars.
(Davis, 2012). For more than a century, the United States automotive industry constantly had a large
impact on the national economy. The quantity of cars sold annually has always been a reliable
indicator of the nation s economic well being. Thus, once the recession hit in 2008, automotive sales
declined sharply, indicating the decrease in customer purchase power. Environmental challenges
impacting the American automotive industry consist of, yet not limited to, fierce global competition,
vigorous technological advancements race, emissions and governmental approach toward a cleaner
environment and, finally, customer satisfaction of the American product.
Global competition resulted in decreased market share for American automobile makers and
jeopardized company profits as a lot of foreign brands approached the American market. The overall
market share of General Motors fell from 28.2% in 2000 to 17.6% by 2014. (Investopedia, 2015). The

not be worn without a skirt, dress, shorts, etc. Students may wear leggings in gym, but for a regular
school schedule, they are not permitted. Leggings are not pants, therefore, they should not be worn as
pants. They were simply meant to be an undergarment to keep legs warm under a dress or skirt.

The Ethical Theories Of The Ethics
There are eight major ethical theories the ones that were focused on in the video were deontological
and utilitarian. The deontological theory is the sense of obligation, that someone feels that it their
morally duty to do the right thing. The utilitarian theory is that people act and behave so that they will
produce happiness for the greatest number of people. These two different ethical theories are ways that
people behave and think is morally correct. In the video the professor talked about the two ethical
theories and how the choices that people make can connect to these two theories. The professor said
that the utilitarian theory mantra is that good makes something right, and that these people are results
oriented. The deontological theory mantra is that right makes something good, and that these people
are motive oriented. The big question is what is the morally right thing to do? consequential moral
reasoning says that someone should not kill an innocent person to say others. I think people should
always try to avoid hurting other people, but if you could save five people and only one person die,
would you do it? For example in the first situation where there are two ways the train can go with
workers on it, with no brakes, and it can either hit five workers and save the one, or save five, and kill
one worker by going down another track. The train driver has to decide quickly what to choose. Either
way someone has to die, should it be five people or one? I

Pyramids Research Paper
Pyramids A pyramid, by definition, is a type of ancient structure that is massive in scale and has a
square base with four sides that form a triangular shape. These pyramids were constructed thousands
of years ago and still stand strong. They were built by the ancient Egyptians, by basically piling loads
and loads of materials on top of each other in the shape of a pyramid. It seems like a simple process
but it was very time consuming and required a lot of analyzing to make sure the pyramids turned out
symmetrical. Since these pyramids are still in decent shape, it shows how well they were built. The
materials used to build these pyramids consisted of mostly stone, wood, and copper. The egyptians

These pharaohs were believed to live forever, even after death. The pyramids were supposed to help
them in be able to live in the afterlife. The dead pharaohs were mummified and then stored in tombs

pyramids, it shows how important the afterlife was to them. Building these pyramids was a very
important part of their life. Ziggurats, on the other hand, were not used to store dead bodies, they was
used for more religious and ceremonial purposes. Other pyramids, like the Aztec stepped pyramid
called the Templo Mayor, was used for rituals and was used to perform sacrifices. These magnificent
structures called pyramids, have had many purposes and importance to many. Not only did they serve
as tombs for important pharaohs, but they were a place for religious practice, ceremony, and rituals.
These structures hold great significance because they give us an insight as to what the egyptians
viewed as important in their lifetime. It gives us some history on ancient egyptians and their abilities.

Boxing Expectations
My personal expectations for this assignment is that I will gain better knowledge into boxing as well
as learning the technique to help manage my stress and the benefits. With my strength of positivity, I
know that going into this I will have an open mind, stay focused, and think positively of this technique
working for me. I am adaptable which will easily help me to go with the flow and take things as they
come and allow me to easily train. Within the strength of futuristic I am able to think about the future
outcome of how things will work or turn out which in turn helps me to think about the long term effect
of boxing and stress management. Also I know I can look forward to releasing stress each time I box,
then while a tensful situation comes up I wouldn t allow it to effect me so much because I can look
forward to when I go boxing to release it. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

also my overall health. I have a strength of restorative, I like to problem solve, analyzing the
symptoms, and find solutions. Boxing will help to reduce the stress within my life which in turn helps
to find the solution to the problem (which is stress). I will also be able to leave it all in the ring and
allow my problems to be put away and help to deal with all the stress going on at that specific time.
After all the research I do believe that the tension in my muscles will be at ease and I will feel
rejuvenated. With the release of serotonin because of the intense pace it will help me to feel relaxed

Over Your Dead Body
Takashi Miike movies are never meant for general audiences, with both Audition and Ichi the Killer
being two movies that are extremely weird, but very well made. In Audition s case, it was a film that is
frightening and made you think twice about blind dating. Miike s newest movie Over Your Dead
Body, which premiered in Canada at the Toronto Film Festival in 2014, is a film that looks artistically
beautiful, yet the story doesn t back it up, falling apart midway through and never able to recover. I m
sure there are fans of this movie out there, so Scream Factory has does their job by releasing it on Blu
ray, but it may be a hard purchase to recommend. Read on to see if you agree... PRODUCT

a twist your way and it may or may not have actually happened. In the end, a very confusing mess is
what Over Your Dead Body ends up being. BLU RAY The Blu ray from Scream Factory is certainly
nice looking, with the play scenes being the most eye pleasing material. There are some blooming
issues in certain scenes and a bit of graininess during night scenes, but overall it s a nice looking disc.

How To Reduce Gun Violence In The United States
In the United States, there is a mass shooting that kills four or more people every twenty three hours.
Gun violence has risen to epidemic proportions. The United States has allowed guns to become so
easily accessible that in four out of five states anyone, even someone without a gun license, can buy
an unregistered firearm from a private vendor. It has also become incredibly easy to be approved for a
gun in most states. Currently it is more difficult to get a driver s license, even with extensive testing,
than it is to own a firearm. We, as a nation, cannot expect to progress far if we don t even moderately
control the flow of firearms that is flooding into the streets. We have the capacity to fix this and create
a safer country for everyone.
In order to improve the yearly death tolls from gun violence, we have to limit how one can even get a
gun in the first place. Currently, the country only has ten states that prohibit the sale of guns at gun
shows and through private vendors, who don t have proper licensing. Another ten states only prohibit
handgun sales, and the other thirty states have nothing. This means one can walk into a gun show with
cash and walk out the same day with a gun. If we prohibit ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

one may be allowed to purchase a gun because the background check did not come quickly enough. In
some countries, such as Germany, most people who purchase a firearm must also be given a
psychological evaluation. This can limit the number of violent or depressed citizens from receiving
firearms and hopefully encourage them to find the medical help they may require. Ultimately,
whoever has purchased a gun may be inconvenienced through the process, but the reward is that guns

Logical Fallacies In The Second Commercial
The first two commercials represent logical fallacies as they are subjective appeals. The Lincoln
commercial displays a famous man, admired by many, driving a Lincoln while talking about his
positive opinion of the Lincoln. The video shares no statistical evidence to prove Lincoln
manufactures better cars than other brands. The logical fallacy behind the commercial is that an
example set by a successful person should be followed despite the lack of individuality in making a
decision based on someone else s. The second commercial was a television advertisement in which
Dish Network compared one or multiple anonymous networks to pigs, implying they overcharge.
Although, the commercial never provided support for Dish Network to present its benefits over other
companies. Quality service, channels, packages, and other aspects of a television subscription were
not discussed to explain why one company is worse than the other. The commercial did not discuss
whether Dish Network s prices were better than the company they represented as a pig. The logical
fallacy in the second commercial is an ad hominem because it was offensive without significant
reason. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that a different action should be taken. In the commercial, DIRECTV asserts that if someone has

able to return home. The commercial s argument is that a customer with DIRECTV will never become

Synopsis Of Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
The focus of my essay is going to be mainly on characterisation: how this two characters are
constructed and how they interact with each other in this fragment, and on speech acts: what types of
speech acts are performed in this fragment and what s the intention behind them. This fragment was
taken from the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It tells the story of Joel Barish and
Clementine Kruczynski, two completely different persons who have been former lovers in the past
two years but can t recall it because both of them have had that memory erased from their minds. The
film opens up with Joel, a very emotional and timid man who whilst being on the train station about to

That explains why when they met at the beginning of the film, it was the first time they met each other
after erasing each others memories. The fragment I have chosen takes place when Joel is getting the
procedure done for the first time, and the first memory they erase happens to be the last memory they
shared together, which funnily enough is nothing but an argument. After that, their relationship was
over. In this scene Joel is waiting for Clementine, who has gone out without him and is coming home
late and drunk. Joel is mad at her because of that but also, since this is the end of their relationship,
they are are more susceptible to what each of them does, which contributes and can be clearly seen in
this argument. They start arguing about Joel s car, which Clementine has broke down because she was
driving whilst being under the effects of alcohol. He is clearly not happy about that and he starts
blaming her for possibly having cause some more damage apart from the car. They start to get more
angry at each other, specially from the moment Joel calls Clementine a wino and since Clementine is
clearly offended by that she points out to Joel that the only reason he is mad at her is because he is
contemplating the possibility of her having had sexual relationships with another person that is not
him, which is something he wouldn t like to happen. But Joel response to that is that he assumes she
has done that, since that

The Trusty Model Of Dependent Personality Disorder
Abstract
Many theorists for decades have presented theoretical approaches in an effort to comprehend
personality. Hence, to this date, no theorist has been able to find all the answers in their theory to
understand an individual personality. The purpose of this paper is to present the Trusty model of
dependent personality disorder. Major topics relevant to the disorder will be explored including the
human image (determination vs. free will, nature vs. nurture and the past vs. the present) as well as the
dysfunctional personality style. As you read this paper, I hope you will be more enlightened from the
information presented and also gain a better understanding of dependent personality disorder.

Personality Theory: The Trusty Model
To be honest people need each other. We exist as social creatures. However, it is almost a tough
situation to co exist with individual who suffer from dependent personality disorder as a result of their
clingy behavior. The Trusty model for dependent personality disorder is described below.

Nature versus nurture. The origin of personality is character biological nature with a heredity support.
Individuals with dependent personality generally display orientation towards being vigilant and at the

The American Filipino War And The Filipino Revolution Essay
The American Filipino war, the Filipino Revolution, the Filipino Insurrection, whatever name you
give to the armed conflict between America and the Philippines that occurred at the end the eighteenth
century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, it happened and it stays as a footnote on both
America s history and the Philippines history. This war, or how my friend humorously called it, A
chain of war atrocities , ended in the Americans favor. However, the question stands, did the Filipino
forces ever stand a chance against the Americans? Also, did the Filipino war help the Filipinos get
what they wanted all along, Filipino Independence? For the former, you have to look at the
belligerents on both sides as well as their tactics along with the reasons of why my friend called the
conflict a chain of war atrocities rather than a war; for the latter, you must instead look at the different
states the Philippines was in after the war leading up to its independence in order to find out if the
American Filipino war acted as a factor. Philippines for a long time could be considered the Russia of
the Pacific. Nations just kept on coming to conquer them. However, unlike Russia, the Philippines
failed to keep its independence every single time. After America, Japan came and took over for a
while. Before America, the Spanish occupied the Philippines. Ferdinand Magellan was a Portuguese

pollock Essay
For centuries artist along with society have placed an emphasis on meaning in a piece of art. Art has
always consisted of subject matters, motifs and other pre concieved ideas or thoughts about what one
should use as their focal point in a work of art. The very definition of art though, is an appealing or
attractive object created through any of the fine arts. Nowhere does it say that a work of art must have

This movement typically saw artist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Pollock s influence upon my work runs strictly in the process itself. Being an athlete, action is the key
to a performance. Whether its throwing a ball or swinging a bat, the relationship in the physical nature
of Pollock s process holds many similarities to the physical aspect of a sport. This relationship is what
s so appealing to me. Other forms of art confine you to standing in front of an easle or sitting at a
desk. Pollock s process on the other hand, allowed him to freely move around the painting while
gracefully and sometimes rigorously applying his paint. Just like in sports, you have a general idea of
how you want to perform but you don t always have control over the results. Abstract expressionism
allows the creator the ability to have a general notion of what he or she wants to create but the final
product may come out altered from the original idea.
In my work the similarities to the works of Pollock run in the process itself. I worked from all angles
of the page, spattering ink from an inkwell. This allowed me to control the flow of the ink, along with
the placement of it upon the page. The differences in my piece are what it mainly possesses. Scale is
probably the most noticeable. Pollock worked on a much larger scale, usually nearing the ten feet
mark. Another big difference

Zen In The Art Of Archery Summary
Zen in the Art of Archery, by Eugen Herrigel describes the ritualistic arts of discipline and focus that
the Zen religion focuses around. In this book, Herrigel describes many aspects of how archery is, in
fact, not a sport, but an art form, and is very spiritual to those in the east. The process he describes
shows how he overcame his initial inhibitions and began to look toward new ways of seeing and
understanding. In the beginning of the book Herrigel tells us that he is writing about a ritual and
religious practice, whose aim consists in hitting a spiritual goal, so that fundamentally the marksman
aims at himself and may even succeed in hitting himself. (Herrigel p. 4) Through his studies, the
author discovers that within the Zen ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Let go and enlightenment will come to you. This is the same underlying concept that Zen and
Buddhism rely on. If one focuses too much on meditation then he will never actually clear your head
and reach the blissful goal of enlightenment. His master explains this as, The right art is purposeless,
aimless! The more obstinately you try to learn how to shoot the arrow for the sake of hitting the goal,
the less you will succeed in the one and the further the other will recede. (Herrigel p. 31) So, for
Herrigel to learn the art of archery he must cease to strive towards hitting the target and stop grasping
at his goal. Instead he must focus only on the moment and let the goal come to him.
As Herrigel spent more time with his master he learned more and more about the Zen ways of
thinking. Throughout his time there, his master taught him time after time that it is important to be in
the moment when the moment is happening. To reach your goal you must allow yourself to become
part of it and not focus on one individual aspect. The right frame of mind for the artists is only reached
when the preparing and the creating, the technical and the artistic, the material and the spiritual, the
project and the object, flow together without breaks. (Herrigel p. 43) All of your actions up to reaching
your goal should flow from you as if without effort and as part of your self. Is it I who draw the bow,

Language is our main means of communication and learning, without it we would not understand each
other efficiently enough to communicate our needs and thoughts. It is a very complicated feature of
human cognition. Yet children acquire language very naturally and quickly without any formal
instruction. Many language experts such as Chomsky (1965) and Pinker (2000) believe this suggests
that there is some innate predisposal to acquire language, by this it is meant a genetic mechanism that
holds what he calls the universal grammar common to all languages. Noam Chomsky call s language

Humans who began to learn language would find it easier to survive and then pass on their language
to their children and so on. Therefore Darwin s theory does not support Chomsky s claim of humans
having an innate predisposal to acquire languages as he believed it was something that has evolved
and then been developed over time, not something that has always been present in our genetics.
Most animals communicate with one another non verbally, for example some bee species have very
specific and evolved ways of communicating with each other about the location and quality of food
(Winston, 1987, p. 25) or the emperor penguin which uses an intricate set of calls that are very vital
for individual recognition between parents, offspring, and mates, demonstrating a very wide range of
individual calls from all the penguins (Williams 1995, p. 68). As all these forms of communication
appear to be very natural to the species they are relevant to, it suggests they are easily developed and
learnt through the social context the being is in. Perhaps this means that these forms of communication
are innately predisposed to the specific species, which would surely mean language to be innately
governed within humans as it s our way of communication. However one cannot really compare the
communications of animals to humans as the humans have a much greater mental capacity than that of
any other species. Although other species can communicate, the

The Effects Of Global Warming On The Health Of Humans And...
Global warming is one of the largest environmental problems of the time, and this naturally occurring
phenomenon intensified by pollution has become a threat to the health of humans and wildlife,
communities, and economies around the world. Normal greenhouses gases (GHGs) present in the
atmosphere include carbon dioxide, water vapor, and nitrous oxide. These gases prohibit too much
infrared radiation from reflecting back into space; hence, they trap this energy in the atmosphere to
create a constant temperature for Earth. Therefore, the term greenhouse describes how these gases
surround and regulate the Earth s temperature like a greenhouse or glasshouse for plants. In addition to
the natural atmospheric gases, humans have artificially created an additional GHG composed of
chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which are non flammable chemicals are composed of chlorine, fluorine,
and carbon found in refrigerant and aerosol products. Humans are not only constructing new GHGs
but also dramatically increasing the amount of the natural gases such as carbon dioxide. Combing the
emissions directly from the tailpipe to the extraction and production of fuel, the transportation sector
is responsible for 30% of the United States emissions of carbon dioxide and other global warming
gases. The human population is increasing and becoming more dependent on fossil fuels particularly
for fuel, yet the burning of fossil fuels cause an increase of two to three parts per million in carbon
dioxide

NANDA label: Urge Incontinence; The state in which an individual experience involuntary passage of
urine, occurring soon after strong sudden need to void.
Definition: Involuntary passage of urine occurring soon after a strong sense of urgency to void
Urge incontinence is defined within the context of overactive bladder syndrome. The overactive
bladder is characterized by bothersome urgency (a sudden and strong desire to urinate that is not easily
deferred) (Abrams et al, 2002). Overactive bladder is typically associated with frequent daytime
voiding and nocturia, and approximately 37% will experience urge urinary incontinence (Stewart et al,
2003).
Related to (r/t) factors: frequent accidents after sudden urge to void, inability to delay urine with
sudden urge and increasing urinary accidents over past year. Neurological disorders (brain disorders,

Mr. Erwin Martin In James Thurber s The Catbird Seat
The Catbird Seat by James Thurber introduces the prime character, Mr. Erwin Martin has been an
employee at F S for 22 years. Over time, he has established a reputation of one who does wrong, but
they are unaware of what monstrous deeds he is capable of. Mrs. Ulgine Barrows is the latest to join F
S, where she has only been for a few months. In addition to her coming, she takes it upon herself, to
reign over the established company. Continuously, she pushes his buttons further, and he is
anticipating to rub her out, in order to rid of her before she begins taking over(1). This is how he
justifies the idea to kill her. Although he is debating whether it be necessary, he finally decides and his

Burrows . This is the moment he is visualizing repeatedly, and one can assume that he will take her
life once he sneaks in. There is no reasonable explanation he would be here. This woman was nothing
other than a nuisance to him, and it is obvious he is showing up with unpleasant intentions. He does
not walk in as a guest, he prowls like a poisonous snake, on the move for his prey. Once he is clear of
potential witnesses, he makes his way to her door where she stands. This shocks him and he moves
into swift motion and, He rushed past her like a football tackle (3). Mrs. Barrows blows it off with a
snarky comment, but there is suspicion lingering, when he questions if there is anyone else there.
Sadly, she does not head warning, but instead she answers him concluding they are indeed alone, and
he is at ease. Frantically, he scans the room for the weapon for murdering her. Mr. Martin is not a hunt
for any weapon, the text reads, Mr. Martin looked quickly around the living room for THE weapon
(3). The search for something to hit her with is not random, it is the weapon he assumes would be
available, as mapped out. Initially, his plan all along was to kill her with whatever he found in her
place. Following, he catches sight of a knife and he test if it is sharp enough, but came to a loss
because, It was blunt. It wouldn t do (4). Obviously, this is a red flag, especially considering how
much he despises her. Not only is he seeking the appropriate sharp object, he also makes sure to retain
his gloves, in case there is a residue of blood or fingerprints. Once he fails to find a dagger, a sudden
thought arises. Instead of striking her dead, he realizes it is possible to deceive her. As he lies, he still

Mother Jones Speaks to Striking Coal Miners
Mother Jones Speaks to Striking Coal Miners August 15, 1912 I live in the Untied States, but I do not
know exactly where. My address is wherever there is a fight against oppression.... My address is like
my shoes: it travels with me.... I abide where there is a fight against wrong, remarked Mary Jones in
her infamous speech, Mother Jones Speaks to Striking Coal Miners , on August 15, 1912 as she
addressed William E. Glasscock, Governor of the State of West Virginia (Jones 69). Mary Harris
Jones, benevolently known as Mother Jones, dedicated her life to the inequalities that coal miners and
children faced during this era. Despite her many hardships she took a stand for making a progressive

The Pros And Cons Of Cryonics
Cryonics will not be possible in the future. People today view cryonics as unorthodox, but it will be a
matter of is it worth it to spend $200,000 ($400 every year) to have a full body suspension or even
$80,000 for a brain suspension when one may only be partially cognitive(being able to be conscious or
fully aware). With the rapid increase in technology, theoretically, cryonics is possible, but only if we
are talking about a materialistic point of view. The idea is to be able to download a brain onto a
computer. The process is flawed because the cooling of the body damages part of the brain. With the
damaged part of the brain, one could lose personality, knowledge, speech, and many other aspects of
oneself (Harris). From a Christian standpoint, one could argue that it is useless to do such a thing
because why would one want to come back from heaven? From a secular point of view, it seems that
this is the answer to many problems. Immortality, sickness, epidemics, and extinction are all things
that could come about or be prevented.
While the process of downloading one s mind onto a computer seems difficult to understand, one must
know the process of being cryogenically frozen. First, the body must be taken while ... Show more

important to understand that God put humans on the earth to have dominion over it. Humans should
try and stretch the limits of science and social norms. Cryonics is definitely a stretch, but many look at
new concepts as impossible. Most major discoveries came from people willing to push the idea of a
better more efficient world. Cryonics is almost indefinitely impossible which in turn, can help one to
focus on other things while humans still exist, such as finding ways now to cure diseases, help the

The Grapes Of Wrath And Jacob Lawrence s The Grapes Of Wrath
During the Dust Bowl and Great Depression migration in the United States impacted the nation just as
much as immigration did in the early twentieth century. The Dust Bowl was the time in which severe
dust storms occurred in the South because the ground was so infertile from all the years of farming on
it the wind would blow it away. Along with other agricultural and economic reasons it was during this
time that many Southerners began their migration North in search of work. John Steinman s, The
Grapes of Wrath and Jacob Lawrence s, The Migration Series demonstrate one characteristic of the
American Dream, the pursuit of happiness, through the theme of family both during times of need and
difficult situations.
The mother figures had the job to take care of everyone and make sure the family remained together
and one during their journey. One scene in The Grapes of Wrath the Joad family just arrived at a camp
and Mama Joad was making food when all the kids around her came to see if they could be fed too.
She knew she needed to take care of her family first and made sure that was a priority. After they were
fed she extended her love and care to the children of the camp by offering them what was left of the
remaining food. It was because of her nurturing persona she was able to find a way to feed the
children as well her family. Panel 11 labeled Food had doubled in price because of the war (68 69)

The New School Occupation Analysis
The New School occupation issued their demands of resignation of Bob Kerrey and James Murtha. I
personally feel that, disruptive movements ought to make their demands known. Demands serve as an
outline of what a movement is trying to accomplish. Demands ground one s struggle in terms that are
easily recognizable, consensual, and strategic . It sets a goal that people can either make a decision to
follow or not. However, after reading the text it seems like it may be more beneficial to not make any
demands at all. Giving demands leaves you in the hands of those with power. The whole idea
according to the author is that the idea that demands are incredibly unwise, isn t completely correct.
While the author argues that they either (1) define ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sixty students occupied the building for as long as it takes . Though mentioned above as being unwise,
and normally in many cases I would agree, in the case of the demands of the New School occupation
their demands were also the demands of the facility. Being that they were paying students, who were
granted the right to make decisions such as the ones that they were demanding, that ultimately weren t
being met, their demands were justified. The way that they are going about the situation may take
away from it or even devalue their demands but the foundation of all their actions I m led to believe
are in order. The best course of action for the New School occupation would be to not list their
demands. The most dangerous occupation would be of one that demands nothing. Demanding nothing
would tip the scale, it would force the police or administration to offer things to the occupation as a
means to a safe end. This give them all the leverage. Until the proper reparations are offered and made
the occupation would have every right to remain where they are. This goes with the text with their first
problem was with them constantly attempting to negotiate rather than get comfortable and settle down
into their occupation. Eventually after all hope is lost and those being opposed see no end they will
have no choice but to adhere to your main demands as a means of an

The Evolution Of Afric Evolution And Human Evolution
Human evolution is the gradual process in which people, or Homo sapiens, originated from apelike
ancestors. Scientific evidence, particularly in the form of fossils and secondary remains, show that the
physical and behavioral traits shared by all people evolved over a period of approximately six million
years. Humans are primates. Both genetic and physical similarities show that humans and the great
apes (large apes) of Africa, chimpanzees (including bonobos, or so called pygmy chimpanzees ) and
gorillas share a common ancestor that lived between 8 and 6 million years ago. The volume of fossils
found in Africa suggests that most evolution occurred there and is likely the place of origin for early
humans. This brings to fruition the out of Africa theory, also called the single origin hypothesis.
The out of Africa theory implies that Anatomically modern humans evolved in East Africa between
400,000 and 200,000 years ago and began to disperse throughout the world roughly 70,000 to 135,000
years ago. In 2011, scientists came to the conclusion there were likely two major waves of migration
out of Africa the Early northern Africa dispersal and Southern Route dispersal.
The early northern Africa dispersal occurred 130,000 115,000 years ago, as a result of tropical Africa
experiencing megadroughts, forcing humans towards the seashores for food and water. Certain groups
attempted to cross over to other continents in search for viable living conditions, but many retreated or

The American Revolution Essay
Prior to the American Revolution, each of the colonies had its own form of currency that was used to
settle financial transactions. During the Revolutionary War, the Congress began issuing large amounts
of paper money, known as Continentals, which would be redeemed for gold and silver after the war
ended. The states also began to issue their own paper currencies, and since these issuances were not
regulated, paper money soon became nearly worthless. When the war ended, the individual states
continued to control and regulate their own currencies, using mostly coins from Portugal, Spain,
France and England. However, there was no consistency among the states in exchange rates for these
foreign coins, which made it difficult to carry out transactions. The creation of the dollar as the
monetary unit and coinage for the new nation was logical and necessary because it helped to unify the
colonies and to establish an identity for the new nation that was separate from its European origin. As
a result of mercantilism, British coins were always in short supply in the American colonies, as they
were sent to Britain as payment for the manufactured goods that had been purchased. As a result of
this shortage of coins, many colonists had to resort to barter in order to acquire goods locally. In
addition, trade with the West Indies brought Spanish, Portuguese and other European coins into the
colonies, which could then be used as payment for goods purchased elsewhere. In the Memorandum

The Properties Of A Whole ( System )
As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression,
confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due
diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of
the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must have
the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties for
understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change are:
Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or fail
depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter of
resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by
applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and
finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential
properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the
parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more on
the interaction of the parts working together not separately. For instance, we discussed in class that (3

Understanding The Director Of National Intelligence
Understanding the Director of National Intelligence (DNI) priorities are necessary to recommend any
initiatives that will have the most value to the intelligence community (IC). The DNI fully identifies to
the IC what his mission, vision, and goals are. The DNI uses the National Intelligence Strategy (NIS)
to explain the objectives and the priorities for the IC. There are a few areas, which if made a priority
would have a beneficial impact on the IC. These recommendations would not require a lot of
resources. They include adapting one overall IC vision, enhancing current agency to agency
communication, and furthering foreign relations within the IC. One of the first priorities to establish
which would add a large benefit to the IC would be to have one vision with a joint strategy on how to
achieve the vision. The intelligence enterprise needs to not only indicate they have an overall vision
but they also need to adapt the vision into their organizations. With 17 different IC components that
each offers a unique service, there needs to be integration as has been the theme but also the visions
and actual employment of the visions and goals need to be aligned as well. The DNI lists his mission,
vision, and goals as: Mission Lead Intelligence Integration. Forge an Intelligence Community that
delivers the most insightful intelligence possible. Vision A Nation made more secure because of a fully
integrated Intelligence Community. Goals Integrate intelligence analysis and

Ideals Of Womanhood In Jane Eyre
Fred Astaire is considered one of the greatest American dancers of all time, for his amazing
choreography and flawless performances. However, a newspaper quipped that he could only be
considered second best: his partner, Ginger Rogers, was better since she had to do everything he
could, but backwards and in heels. Women being ignored or the assumption that women are lesser
than men has been a constant social struggle. A century before Astaire and Rogers, British author
Charlotte Brontë fought against Victorian sexism. Through her novel Jane Eyre, Brontë attempts to
subvert the Victorian ideals for women. Professor Kathryn Hughes in the article Gender Roles in the
19th Century and Lynn Abrams, author of Ideals of Womanhood in Victorian Britain both explain that
the expectation was for women and men to occupy separate spheres, with women occupying the
domestic sphere meaning that they educated, seeking marriage. Brontë succeeds in challenging these
Victorian standards for women, through the characterization and actions of Jane Eyre, and Rochester
and others.
The Victorian ideal elevates women in the moral sphere. Hughes explains that it was the job of women
to counterbalance the moral taint of the public sphere [while] also preparing the next generation to
carry on this way of life (Hughes 1). Women were expected both a better sense of morality and a
strong educational background, exemplified by Jane s job as a governoress. Brontë manages to subvert

The moral that we can learn from hecate is that even though her name means The distant one she s
always around when you need her help or when you need her to protect you from the streets at night

The Myall Creek Massacre During Colonial Australia
The Myall Creek Massacre in Colonial Australia was caused by arising conflict from British
imperialism as the greed for land and goods caused the English to disregard the rights of the
Australian natives. In pursuit of resources and Newmarket s, Britain colonised the majority of the
world and the ramifications of this have continued into today. Firstly, upon colonising the land, settlers
were continuing to ship convicts to Australia, due to America refusing the convicts after the War of
Independence. The tensions that arose as a result of British colonisation culminated several episodes
of conflict such as the Myall Creek Massacre. This event occurred as the result of escalating tensions
between white settlers and the Aborigines which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The convicts did not follow this conduct and most believed that the Australian natives were barely
human (MacDougall .A.K 2004). The population ratio of British settlers in Australia to the natives,
drastically altered over the century in the result of rapid colonisation and the conflicts which the
Commonwealth of Australia Official Year Books explicitly depicts. The British settlers came in
masses bringing a new society and culture to the land. The indigenous people were not familiar with
an individual possession society and believed that the stock on the land was to be hunted and used as a
food source. This is epitomised in a letter sent to the editor of The Sydney Monitor and Commercial
Advertiser by Daniel Eaton in 1838, stating that five horses [were] killed, and four others were
wounded... a hundred head of cattle killed and the flocks and herds were driven away in all directions
by the blacks (Convict Creations, 2013). Newspapers from the time showed that the British reacted to
the natives by killing them off the land and believed that the Natives should be slaughtered...[because]
they are baboons, blood thirsty dogs and black animals (Stewart D,1986). The British were not
interested in negotiating with the natives of the land and believed their culture was inhuman wasting
the land. Governor Gawler stated in a newspaper article, Black men we wish to make you happy, but

Fiasco Finish Descriptive Writing
The Fiasco Finish As I struggled to continue running on that August afternoon just four months ago,
the blinding rays of sunlight shone down upon me. The skin piercing rays of sunlight, along with the
high heat and humidity, overpowered anyone that dared to take a step outside. My face glistening with
sweat was proof of that. I once again automatically raised my right foot as my left racing spike hit the
damp ground, still soggy from the previous day s rain. With my blue eyes focused on the maze, which

Decatur High School s cross country course, I swung my rather thin arms to and fro and my dark
blond ponytail bobbed with every step. Unfortunately, few markers or signs pointed the way.
Consequently, I, along with the rest of the herd of about two dozen high school maze runners from
four area schools, was left wondering where to go. My completely royal blue uniform glistened with
sweat, and my breath cackled as I searched ahead for a faded yellow flag set in the short muddy grass
marking the way. The fact it was the first meet of my junior season already made my task difficult
enough; not knowing where to go just made matters worse. Fortunately, I recognized this final part of

Man For All Seasons Corruption
The play in A Man for All Seasons, written by Robert Holt in the 1960s, retells the story of King
Henry the VIII, his separation from the Church, and how his chancellor Thomas More resisted all
attempts from the King to make him approve of the action. This story confirms that management of
political power corrupts the minds and hearts of groups and individuals, such as Cromwell and King
Henry VIII, but for some, such as Thomas More, it teaches them the importance of integrity and
remaining faithful to one s own truths. While political power itself is not evil, it is still an effective
tool to achieve ambitions and aspirations good or bad. This quality of power tends to easily break

Because of his constant cultivation of character and regular remembrance of principles, More was

it. He silently but resolutely resisted the King s attempts to break him, until his death
Power itself is not evil, and never has been. It s only a tool. But there are temptations of power;
temptations of absolute control, fame, and gain. People stumble underneath the pressure of these
enticements, because their character and moral strength are not established enough. People like this,
like Master Rich, are so eager to achieve that fame or absolute control, that they willingly relinquish
their better judgement and good character. Often this happens through other men of corruption and
carnal desires. But, even among hosts of weak and stumbling men, Thomas More remains steadfast to
his beliefs and principles, valuing integrity and wisdom far higher than fame and popularity. While the

being better than its competitors in the market, and offers the best standards of services to its

to be able to differentiate between a difficulty and a mess. A mess may be regarded as a problem or
situation that is perceived and understood in different terms by different people. With a mess, external
settings are what cause dissatisfaction. A difficulty on the other hand is a problem or situation that is

What Is The Value Chain Analysis Of Pepsico
In order to provide an outside perspective, PepsiCo tasked us with creating a recommendation to one
of its current problems: how should it adjust its beverage product portfolio to better align with
changing retailer and consumer tastes and preferences? After much consideration and analysis, we
have decided to approach the problem by focusing on society s shift to more health and
environmentally conscious purchasing habits, which has caused annual decreases in carbonated soft
drink (CSD) sales. To further explore PepsiCo s problem, we conducted PEST, PORTER, VIRO, and
Value Chain analyses. Below are the results from each analysis: Through our PEST analysis, we found
political/legal factors as the most pertinent. This is in slight contrast to our focus on lifestyle and
consumer changes because we are focusing on a subset of social factors and the others sections caused
the category to be devalued in the bigger picture. Overall, we valued tax laws, foreign trade laws, and
attitudes toward foreign companies as the highest because tax laws determine how much revenue may
be converted into net income or if it marginally increases product price. The only factor ranked with
low importance was stability of government. While it is true that a stable government results in a
stable market, PepsiCo is not currently heavily invested in any unstable or contested governments, and
its choice to generally have non politicized practices make it safe to individual political concerns.

Essay On SARS
Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome or SARS for short, is an internationally known epidemic that first
broke out in 2002 in southern China. SARS is caused by the SARS coronavirus, or SARS CoV which
was genetically proven to have originated from Guangzhou. Guangzhou is the origin of which caused
the spread of SARS into other countries. By 2003 SARS became a global disease severely affecting
several other countries such as, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Vietnam, Canada, and Singapore. SARS causes
numerous respiratory complications, some of which become fatal if not properly treated in adequate
time. Treatment options for SARS vary depending on the severity of the disease, how strong or weak
the person infected with SARS immune system is, and how quickly ... Show more content on

Lots of times when respiratory failure and hypoxemia become present, and as the infected patient s
health continues to deteriorate they are placed in the hospital s ICU. If further decline of the
respiratory system takes place and treatment does not succumb to the disease ARDS can take place,
which will require invasive mechanical ventilation. Death has occurred as a result from this disease
which is why the seriousness of seeking treatment early on is momentous. Due to SARS being a
newly discovered disease in 2002 2003, treatment options, possible cures, and plans for care of this
disease were unprecedented. Oxygen therapy was normally initiated in the preliminary stages of
SARS. Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) was reported to be found efficacious in those with respiratory
failure as a result from SARS. NIV reduced the occurrence of intubation or invasive ventilation, as
well as reduced the length of hospital stays in patients researched with SARS. Ribavirin which is a
drug that is helpful in fighting certain viruses by preventing replication of viral cells has been greatly
used in the treatment of SARS. Research later provided that the drug had no notable effect on the
disease. Lopinavir, another antiviral drug was another drug that was experimented with as a treatment
of SARS and was found to reduce overall death rate by 2.3% as well as intubations. Other drugs such

The Use of TDZ and BAP for Shoot Regeneration Essay
Discussion
Shoot regeneration using TDZ and BAP
Recently, many research groups have been involved in establishing reliable regeneration procedures
for agronomically and industrially important plants, because it would be a primary step to facilitate
introduction of genes and improvement of the crops. In vitro regeneration system is the first step
towards transformation and once successfully attempted, can pave the way for the development of
genetically transformed plants with desired traits (Pérez Molphe Balch and Ochoa Alejo, 1998).
Growth and proliferation of excised tissues and organs depend wholly on the external supply of the
nutrient and plant growth regulators on synthetic media. Type and concentration of growth regulators

austriacum were taken as explants. The result of the present study shows that TDZ is most effective
for direct shoot regeneration from decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants.
Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants demonstrated
that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l 1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ,
respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl 1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a
potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et
al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation has been demonstrated in other plant
systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots
elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and suitable for transferring to rooting
medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower concentration of TDZ, while further
addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ
concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies
have been reported the inhibitory effects of high concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece
and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010;
Kumar et al., 2010a,b, 2011a,b), and our results are in agreement with the above

Toronto s Public Transit System Analysis
Toronto s public transit system is a mess, and it is about to get much worse. Congestion on Toronto
Transit Commission (TTC) buses and subways already stops many Toronto commuters from even
considering taking public transit, despite the gridlock on city roads. In 2013, an average of 900,000
daily commuters crowded onto overcrowded buses and subways, according to a TTC operating
statistic, further burdening a system that severely failed to keep up with Toronto s population growth.
(TTC Operating Budget, 2013) In ten years, the ridership on the Yonge University Spadina line
jumped from 583,000 people per work day to 711,000. (ibid). With the population of the GTA
projected to double, over the next 20 years, another million vehicles will join ... Show more content on

Compounding all this has been a refusal by both the Ontario government and the GTA s municipal
councils to impose congestion charges (user fees/service charges/toll booths/vehicle registration tax)
or other measures that would deliver sustained funding for transit expansion. Municipal shares of both
operating and capital subsidies for public transit in Canada come primarily from property taxes,
supplemented in some cases by special levies on gasoline sales, parking and hydro

There are famous thinkers that have little in common with what makes them strive to achievement
personal and professional goals. Some famous thinkers have creative ideas in which create a secure
foundation for the creative process. Several of these ideas circle around finding a solution to a
problem, or changing the way people think about upcoming issues. There are two particular famous
thinkers: Sam Walton and Bill Gates., both of these men were able to use the creative process to alter
the way people observed the issues of the day. They each made precise contributions to society during
difficult times.

catapulting him to success (Gates, B. 2012). Bill Gates has made many contributions to society. He is
the founder of Microsoft Inc., which is the industry standard for business and academic software but
his most important contribution to society is his philanthropic dedication. It is a well known fact that
Bill Gates is a very wealthy man but what he has done with his wealth is astonishing. He and his wife,
Melinda has pledged 95% of their wealth through their philanthropic organization, Bill and Melinda
Gates Foundation. 95% of anyone s income in staggering but 95% of the Gates is mind blowing. So
far to date, the organization has made grants of $26 billion, of which $15 billion went to global health

Samuel Moore Sam Walton
Samuel Moore Walton entered the world in the usual way on March 29, 1918, in the town of
Kingfisher, Oklahoma. Sam s parents moved the family to Missouri in 1923 where he spent the
remainder of his childhood bouncing from one Missouri town to another. Life was not easy for Sam
and his family while growing up during the depression, nor did he take the easy way out ever. Sam

  • 2. Vaccination Argumentative Every year, more than ten million vaccinations are given to children under the age one. Ten million vaccinations just in babies, can you imagine the global number for all ages? Since the end of the 1700 century, vaccinations have built an immunity to many infectious diseases, saving millions of lives; however with new controversy data shows that these vaccines could be causing more harm than good. With the eradication of smallpox, vaccination numbers have skyrocketed and the effectiveness and safety have been questioned. To begin with readers will gain basic knowledge on what a vaccine really is and how it works. Many people come into the clinic receiving vaccinations, unsure of how they work. A vaccine is a product that produces immunity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Evidence shows that some vaccinations are made from the cells of aborted fetuses and this doesn t fit into many people s morals. Some contain ingredients like animal products that create conflicts with vegetarian and vegan philosophers lifestyles. Others believe the side effects are minor and a vaccination isn t required to solve these health problems. These are people s own beliefs and morals on vaccinations. Another reason is because people are fearful of receiving vaccinations. After 9/11 there was public fear of bioterrorism, where someone would put harmful ingredients into vaccinations. Others were afraid of the government warnings of the bird flu crossing the species barrier to infected humans. Then there was the fear of the MMR vaccine causing problems related to autism. All these problems made people very concerned about vaccinations. The advantages and disadvantages being told really make people wonder. With large numbers into thousands about people getting vaccinated, these debts are critical to our nation as a whole. Are people not being informed enough about what they are? Is the history of vaccinations better than the present? Do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? How do these debts affect the future of tomorrow and its outlook on vaccinations? • 3. Comparing The Stage And War Is Never Over The poems The Stage, written by Avenged Sevenfold, and War Is Never Over, written by Cecil L. Harrison, both suggest that life is a war disguised by a curtain of innocence. Both describe their respective topics life and war in a negative light suggesting that neither is what it seems to be. The way life is described as a performance in The Stage challenged me to consider what life might look like to an audience. The poem is structured with the different stages of life in each stanza. This shows the development of humankind, both individually and as a species. At the beginning of the poem, the poet starts us off with So I arrived, naked and cold, suggesting both a newborn baby, and the beginning of humanity. The poet says that the innocence ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The poet uses the text to expose war as an eternal hell stating that War is never over in the many soldiers and loved ones eyes. War Is Never Over reveals that freedom is fought for and that No freedom is not free! The poem focuses on the after effects of war, for example, the memories of the battles and the nightmares that ensue. For me, the poet uncovers that although tough times such as war are resolved in the end, there are still many holes left by the aftereffects of that particular event. It is not only the soldiers that suffer after the war, but also families and loved ones. Those left home to wait know this. For many are still waiting. It was their farewell kiss. This led me to believe that the many soldiers that left for war have most likely died or are missing in action leaving their families awaiting their impossible return. At one stage, the poet goes as far as calling the soldiers heroes; however, reveals to us that although they have come back home, in their minds they hold memories known to them alone. This means that the soldiers have not fully recovered from the war and have to suffer from the terrifying memories of their experiences during the war. I believe that Cecil L. Harrison wrote this poem to warn the many people who overlook these after effects of war when joining due to the glory that they assume they are going to receive when they come home. The reality is, many soldiers that go off to war never come back. War Is Never Over reminds us of the sacrifices that many soldiers have made to make sure that future generations would never have to share the memories that are still fresh in their minds. The poem reminds us that War is never over. Though we win the victory, still in our minds the battles. No freedom is not free! Ultimately, this led me to believe that the poem is meant as a momento and warning for future ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. A Hanging By George Orwell Essay A Hanging By George Orwell A Reflective Essay on the Short Story A Hanging by George Orwell The short story A Hanging by George Orwell illustrates the experience and intrigues surrounding the hanging of a Hindu prisoner in Burma. Orwell dwells on the inhuman nature of capital punishment and how the hangmen disregard the dignity of human life to commit a prisoner to the gallows. Unarguably, the purpose of this non fiction story is to persuade the readers of the horrifying injustice of subjecting a convict to the death penalty. As this reflective paper shall present, throughout the short story, the author intelligently uses irony and sarcasm to manipulate the mood of the audience thereby convincing the readers of his criticism of capital punishment and the barbaric administration of justice in the Burma prisons. To begin with, Orwell is explicitly against any administration of capital punishment on convicts. He describes capital punishment as not only mysterious and unjustified, particularly when the individual is in his most potential stage of life (Orwell, 2). In addition, he expresses his ... The actions of the dog as the man is being escorted to the gallows as the author describes demonstrates the equality of every human being. The dog does not discriminate against anybody and instead embraces the condemned man (Orwell, 2). This is a very symbolic action and with the surprise that ensued, there is a clear indication of the discontentment in having to take somebody s life. Clearly, the symbolism of the dog creates an irony on how human beings have failed to use their conscience to understand the value of human life. It also demonstrates Orwell s position on capital punishment one that killing a human being is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Environmental Challenges Facing The American Automotive... Environmental Challenges Facing the American Automotive Industry Since Henry Ford invented the mass production techniques that made cars affordable to the public, the United State s economy has been dramatically influenced by this key component in its affluence. Exponentially, jobs were created because the auto business grew. Employees were needed for the constantly growing assembly lines. Consequently, Ford s model Ts became the primary preferred, affordable, mass manufactured cars. (Davis, 2012). For more than a century, the United States automotive industry constantly had a large impact on the national economy. The quantity of cars sold annually has always been a reliable indicator of the nation s economic well being. Thus, once the recession hit in 2008, automotive sales declined sharply, indicating the decrease in customer purchase power. Environmental challenges impacting the American automotive industry consist of, yet not limited to, fierce global competition, vigorous technological advancements race, emissions and governmental approach toward a cleaner environment and, finally, customer satisfaction of the American product. Global competition resulted in decreased market share for American automobile makers and jeopardized company profits as a lot of foreign brands approached the American market. The overall market share of General Motors fell from 28.2% in 2000 to 17.6% by 2014. (Investopedia, 2015). The remaining duo of the big three automobile makers lost ... Leggings are not pants, therefore, they should not be worn as pants. They were simply meant to be an undergarment to keep legs warm under a dress or skirt. • 7. The Ethical Theories Of The Ethics There are eight major ethical theories the ones that were focused on in the video were deontological and utilitarian. The deontological theory is the sense of obligation, that someone feels that it their morally duty to do the right thing. The utilitarian theory is that people act and behave so that they will produce happiness for the greatest number of people. These two different ethical theories are ways that people behave and think is morally correct. In the video the professor talked about the two ethical theories and how the choices that people make can connect to these two theories. The professor said that the utilitarian theory mantra is that good makes something right, and that these people are results oriented. The deontological theory mantra is that right makes something good, and that these people are motive oriented. The big question is what is the morally right thing to do? consequential moral reasoning says that someone should not kill an innocent person to say others. I think people should always try to avoid hurting other people, but if you could save five people and only one person die, would you do it? For example in the first situation where there are two ways the train can go with workers on it, with no brakes, and it can either hit five workers and save the one, or save five, and kill one worker by going down another track. The train driver has to decide quickly what to choose. Either way someone has to die, should it be five people or one? I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

These pyramids were constructed thousands of years ago and still stand strong. It seems like a simple process but it was very time consuming and required a lot of analyzing to make sure the pyramids turned out symmetrical. • 11. How To Reduce Gun Violence In The United States In the United States, there is a mass shooting that kills four or more people every twenty three hours. Gun violence has risen to epidemic proportions. The United States has allowed guns to become so easily accessible that in four out of five states anyone, even someone without a gun license, can buy an unregistered firearm from a private vendor. It has also become incredibly easy to be approved for a gun in most states. Currently it is more difficult to get a driver s license, even with extensive testing, than it is to own a firearm. We, as a nation, cannot expect to progress far if we don t even moderately control the flow of firearms that is flooding into the streets. We have the capacity to fix this and create a safer country for everyone. In order to improve the yearly death tolls from gun violence, we have to limit how one can even get a gun in the first place. Currently, the country only has ten states that prohibit the sale of guns at gun shows and through private vendors, who don t have proper licensing. • 12. Logical Fallacies In The Second Commercial The first two commercials represent logical fallacies as they are subjective appeals. The Lincoln commercial displays a famous man, admired by many, driving a Lincoln while talking about his positive opinion of the Lincoln. The video shares no statistical evidence to prove Lincoln manufactures better cars than other brands. The logical fallacy behind the commercial is that an example set by a successful person should be followed despite the lack of individuality in making a decision based on someone else s. The second commercial was a television advertisement in which Dish Network compared one or multiple anonymous networks to pigs, implying they overcharge. Although, the commercial never provided support for Dish Network to present its benefits over other companies. Quality service, channels, packages, and other aspects of a television subscription were not discussed to explain why one company is worse than the other. This fragment was taken from the film Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It tells the story of Joel Barish and Clementine Kruczynski, two completely different persons who have been former lovers in the past two years but can t recall it because both of them have had that memory erased from their minds. The fragment I have chosen takes place when Joel is getting the procedure done for the first time, and the first memory they erase happens to be the last memory they shared together, which funnily enough is nothing but an argument. After that, their relationship was over. In this scene Joel is waiting for Clementine, who has gone out without him and is coming home late and drunk. Joel is mad at her because of that but also, since this is the end of their relationship, they are are more susceptible to what each of them does, which contributes and can be clearly seen in this argument. They start arguing about Joel s car, which Clementine has broke down because she was driving whilst being under the effects of alcohol. He is clearly not happy about that and he starts blaming her for possibly having cause some more damage apart from the car. They start to get more angry at each other, specially from the moment Joel calls Clementine a wino and since Clementine is clearly offended by that she points out to Joel that the only reason he is mad at her is because he is contemplating the possibility of her having had sexual relationships with another person that is not him, which is something he wouldn t like to happen. Hence, to this date, no theorist has been able to find all the answers in their theory to understand an individual personality. Major topics relevant to the disorder will be explored including the human image (determination vs. free will, nature vs. nurture and the past vs. the present) as well as the dysfunctional personality style. The American Filipino War And The Filipino Revolution Essay The American Filipino war, the Filipino Revolution, the Filipino Insurrection, whatever name you give to the armed conflict between America and the Philippines that occurred at the end the eighteenth century and the beginning of the nineteenth century, it happened and it stays as a footnote on both America s history and the Philippines history. This war, or how my friend humorously called it, A chain of war atrocities , ended in the Americans favor. However, the question stands, did the Filipino forces ever stand a chance against the Americans? Also, did the Filipino war help the Filipinos get what they wanted all along, Filipino Independence? For the former, you have to look at the belligerents on both sides as well as their tactics along with the reasons of why my friend called the conflict a chain of war atrocities rather than a war; for the latter, you must instead look at the different states the Philippines was in after the war leading up to its independence in order to find out if the American Filipino war acted as a factor. Philippines for a long time could be considered the Russia of the Pacific. Nations just kept on coming to conquer them. However, unlike Russia, the Philippines failed to keep its independence every single time. After America, Japan came and took over for a while. Before America, the Spanish occupied the Philippines. Whether its throwing a ball or swinging a bat, the relationship in the physical nature of Pollock s process holds many similarities to the physical aspect of a sport. This relationship is what s so appealing to me. Other forms of art confine you to standing in front of an easle or sitting at a desk. Pollock s process on the other hand, allowed him to freely move around the painting while gracefully and sometimes rigorously applying his paint. Just like in sports, you have a general idea of how you want to perform but you don t always have control over the results. Abstract expressionism allows the creator the ability to have a general notion of what he or she wants to create but the final product may come out altered from the original idea. In my work the similarities to the works of Pollock run in the process itself. I worked from all angles of the page, spattering ink from an inkwell. In this book, Herrigel describes many aspects of how archery is, in fact, not a sport, but an art form, and is very spiritual to those in the east. The process he describes shows how he overcame his initial inhibitions and began to look toward new ways of seeing and understanding. In the beginning of the book Herrigel tells us that he is writing about a ritual and religious practice, whose aim consists in hitting a spiritual goal, so that fundamentally the marksman aims at himself and may even succeed in hitting himself. (Herrigel p. 31) So, for Herrigel to learn the art of archery he must cease to strive towards hitting the target and stop grasping at his goal. Instead he must focus only on the moment and let the goal come to him. As Herrigel spent more time with his master he learned more and more about the Zen ways of thinking. Throughout his time there, his master taught him time after time that it is important to be in the moment when the moment is happening. To reach your goal you must allow yourself to become part of it and not focus on one individual aspect. The right frame of mind for the artists is only reached when the preparing and the creating, the technical and the artistic, the material and the spiritual, the project and the object, flow together without breaks. (Herrigel p. 43) All of your actions up to reaching your goal should flow from you as if without effort and as part of your self. • 18. Evaluate the Arguments, Presented in the Course,... Language is our main means of communication and learning, without it we would not understand each other efficiently enough to communicate our needs and thoughts. It is a very complicated feature of human cognition. Yet children acquire language very naturally and quickly without any formal instruction. Many language experts such as Chomsky (1965) and Pinker (2000) believe this suggests that there is some innate predisposal to acquire language, by this it is meant a genetic mechanism that holds what he calls the universal grammar common to all languages. Noam Chomsky call s language the human essence (1972). He is a discontinuity theorist, this means he believes the human brain appears to have an inborn capacity to learn and obtain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Humans who began to learn language would find it easier to survive and then pass on their language to their children and so on. Therefore Darwin s theory does not support Chomsky s claim of humans having an innate predisposal to acquire languages as he believed it was something that has evolved and then been developed over time, not something that has always been present in our genetics. Most animals communicate with one another non verbally, for example some bee species have very specific and evolved ways of communicating with each other about the location and quality of food (Winston, 1987, p. 25) or the emperor penguin which uses an intricate set of calls that are very vital for individual recognition between parents, offspring, and mates, demonstrating a very wide range of individual calls from all the penguins (Williams 1995, p. 68). As all these forms of communication appear to be very natural to the species they are relevant to, it suggests they are easily developed and learnt through the social context the being is in. Perhaps this means that these forms of communication are innately predisposed to the specific species, which would surely mean language to be innately governed within humans as it s our way of communication. However one cannot really compare the communications of animals to humans as the humans have a much greater mental capacity than that of any other species. Although other species can communicate, the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Global warming is one of the largest environmental problems of the time, and this naturally occurring phenomenon intensified by pollution has become a threat to the health of humans and wildlife, communities, and economies around the world. Normal greenhouses gases (GHGs) present in the atmosphere include carbon dioxide, water vapor, and nitrous oxide. These gases prohibit too much infrared radiation from reflecting back into space; hence, they trap this energy in the atmosphere to create a constant temperature for Earth. Therefore, the term greenhouse describes how these gases surround and regulate the Earth s temperature like a greenhouse or glasshouse for plants. In addition to the natural atmospheric gases, humans have artificially created an additional GHG composed of chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) which are non flammable chemicals are composed of chlorine, fluorine, and carbon found in refrigerant and aerosol products. Humans are not only constructing new GHGs but also dramatically increasing the amount of the natural gases such as carbon dioxide. Combing the emissions directly from the tailpipe to the extraction and production of fuel, the transportation sector is responsible for 30% of the United States emissions of carbon dioxide and other global warming gases. The human population is increasing and becoming more dependent on fossil fuels particularly for fuel, yet the burning of fossil fuels cause an increase of two to three parts per million in carbon dioxide ... With the rapid increase in technology, theoretically, cryonics is possible, but only if we are talking about a materialistic point of view. The idea is to be able to download a brain onto a computer. The process is flawed because the cooling of the body damages part of the brain. With the damaged part of the brain, one could lose personality, knowledge, speech, and many other aspects of oneself (Harris). From a Christian standpoint, one could argue that it is useless to do such a thing because why would one want to come back from heaven? From a secular point of view, it seems that this is the answer to many problems. Immortality, sickness, epidemics, and extinction are all things that could come about or be prevented. The Grapes Of Wrath And Jacob Lawrence s The Grapes Of Wrath During the Dust Bowl and Great Depression migration in the United States impacted the nation just as much as immigration did in the early twentieth century. The Dust Bowl was the time in which severe dust storms occurred in the South because the ground was so infertile from all the years of farming on it the wind would blow it away. Along with other agricultural and economic reasons it was during this time that many Southerners began their migration North in search of work. John Steinman s, The Grapes of Wrath and Jacob Lawrence s, The Migration Series demonstrate one characteristic of the American Dream, the pursuit of happiness, through the theme of family both during times of need and difficult situations. The mother figures had the job to take care of everyone and make sure the family remained together and one during their journey. One scene in The Grapes of Wrath the Joad family just arrived at a camp and Mama Joad was making food when all the kids around her came to see if they could be fed too. The way that they are going about the situation may take away from it or even devalue their demands but the foundation of all their actions I m led to believe are in order. The best course of action for the New School occupation would be to not list their demands. The most dangerous occupation would be of one that demands nothing. Demanding nothing would tip the scale, it would force the police or administration to offer things to the occupation as a means to a safe end. This give them all the leverage. • 26. The Evolution Of Afric Evolution And Human Evolution Human evolution is the gradual process in which people, or Homo sapiens, originated from apelike ancestors. Scientific evidence, particularly in the form of fossils and secondary remains, show that the physical and behavioral traits shared by all people evolved over a period of approximately six million years. Humans are primates. Both genetic and physical similarities show that humans and the great apes (large apes) of Africa, chimpanzees (including bonobos, or so called pygmy chimpanzees ) and gorillas share a common ancestor that lived between 8 and 6 million years ago. The volume of fossils found in Africa suggests that most evolution occurred there and is likely the place of origin for early humans. This brings to fruition the out of Africa theory, also called the single origin hypothesis. The out of Africa theory implies that Anatomically modern humans evolved in East Africa between 400,000 and 200,000 years ago and began to disperse throughout the world roughly 70,000 to 135,000 years ago. In 2011, scientists came to the conclusion there were likely two major waves of migration out of Africa the Early northern Africa dispersal and Southern Route dispersal. The early northern Africa dispersal occurred 130,000 115,000 years ago, as a result of tropical Africa experiencing megadroughts, forcing humans towards the seashores for food and water. • 27. The American Revolution Essay Prior to the American Revolution, each of the colonies had its own form of currency that was used to settle financial transactions. During the Revolutionary War, the Congress began issuing large amounts of paper money, known as Continentals, which would be redeemed for gold and silver after the war ended. The states also began to issue their own paper currencies, and since these issuances were not regulated, paper money soon became nearly worthless. When the war ended, the individual states continued to control and regulate their own currencies, using mostly coins from Portugal, Spain, France and England. However, there was no consistency among the states in exchange rates for these foreign coins, which made it difficult to carry out transactions. The creation of the dollar as the monetary unit and coinage for the new nation was logical and necessary because it helped to unify the colonies and to establish an identity for the new nation that was separate from its European origin. As a result of mercantilism, British coins were always in short supply in the American colonies, as they were sent to Britain as payment for the manufactured goods that had been purchased. As a result of this shortage of coins, many colonists had to resort to barter in order to acquire goods locally. In addition, trade with the West Indies brought Spanish, Portuguese and other European coins into the colonies, which could then be used as payment for goods purchased elsewhere. • 28. The Properties Of A Whole ( System ) As stated in my previous paper, change in an organization is often met with resistance, aggression, confusion and most of all misunderstanding. When organizations do not perform adequate due diligence prior to understanding major activities of change, employees become confused because of the level of uncertainty that comes with change, for this reason people undergoing change must have the knowledge of the properties of understanding change. This paper will discuss the properties for understanding change and how these properties interact. The properties of understanding change are: Understand that people are reluctant to change and fear change, change can be successful or fail depending on the mindset of the organization, change is not about or doesn t occur as a matter of resources or intelligence, and also the understanding that the motivation of change can happen by applying both E and O theories, the understanding that continuous change happens in cycle, and finally understanding that change goes through challenges. Russell Ackoff s stated that the essential properties of a whole (system) are the product of the interactions of the parts, not the action of the parts taken separately. Therefore for an organization to be productive it needs to concentrate more on the interaction of the parts working together not separately. However, a newspaper quipped that he could only be considered second best: his partner, Ginger Rogers, was better since she had to do everything he could, but backwards and in heels. Women being ignored or the assumption that women are lesser than men has been a constant social struggle. A century before Astaire and Rogers, British author Charlotte Brontë fought against Victorian sexism. Through her novel Jane Eyre, Brontë attempts to subvert the Victorian ideals for women. Professor Kathryn Hughes in the article Gender Roles in the 19th Century and Lynn Abrams, author of Ideals of Womanhood in Victorian Britain both explain that the expectation was for women and men to occupy separate spheres, with women occupying the domestic sphere meaning that they educated, seeking marriage. Brontë succeeds in challenging these Victorian standards for women, through the characterization and actions of Jane Eyre, and Rochester and others. The Victorian ideal elevates women in the moral sphere. Hughes explains that it was the job of women to counterbalance the moral taint of the public sphere [while] also preparing the next generation to carry on this way of life (Hughes 1). • 43. What Is The Value Chain Analysis Of Pepsico In order to provide an outside perspective, PepsiCo tasked us with creating a recommendation to one of its current problems: how should it adjust its beverage product portfolio to better align with changing retailer and consumer tastes and preferences? After much consideration and analysis, we have decided to approach the problem by focusing on society s shift to more health and environmentally conscious purchasing habits, which has caused annual decreases in carbonated soft drink (CSD) sales. To further explore PepsiCo s problem, we conducted PEST, PORTER, VIRO, and Value Chain analyses. Below are the results from each analysis: Through our PEST analysis, we found political/legal factors as the most pertinent. This is in slight contrast to our focus on lifestyle and consumer changes because we are focusing on a subset of social factors and the others sections caused the category to be devalued in the bigger picture. Overall, we valued tax laws, foreign trade laws, and attitudes toward foreign companies as the highest because tax laws determine how much revenue may be converted into net income or if it marginally increases product price. The only factor ranked with low importance was stability of government. While it is true that a stable government results in a stable market, PepsiCo is not currently heavily invested in any unstable or contested governments, and its choice to generally have non politicized practices make it safe to individual political concerns. Death has occurred as a result from this disease which is why the seriousness of seeking treatment early on is momentous. Due to SARS being a newly discovered disease in 2002 2003, treatment options, possible cures, and plans for care of this disease were unprecedented. Oxygen therapy was normally initiated in the preliminary stages of SARS. Non Invasive Ventilation (NIV) was reported to be found efficacious in those with respiratory failure as a result from SARS. NIV reduced the occurrence of intubation or invasive ventilation, as well as reduced the length of hospital stays in patients researched with SARS. Ribavirin which is a drug that is helpful in fighting certain viruses by preventing replication of viral cells has been greatly used in the treatment of SARS. Research later provided that the drug had no notable effect on the disease. Experiments on the decapitated cotyledonary stage seedlings and cotyledon explants demonstrated that the greatest shoot formation was on the medium containing 0.25 mg l 1 and 0.5 mg l 1 TDZ, respectively. Thidiazuron (TDZ), a substitute of phenyl urea (N phenyl 1,2,3 thidiazol 5 ylurea) is a potent cytokinin used in experiments related to in vitro shoot induction (Mok et al., 1982; Thomas et al. 1986) and its ability to induce multiple shoot formation has been demonstrated in other plant systems (Kerns and Meyer, 1986; Fellman et al., 1987; Fiola et al., 1990). Adventitious shoots elongating over... cm in length, which were easy to handle and suitable for transferring to rooting medium, were also obtained most efficiently with a lower concentration of TDZ, while further addition of TDZ concentration resulted in decreased shoot regeneration and elongation. Higher TDZ concentrations lead to reduction of shoot regeneration and resulted in stunted shoots. Previous studies have been reported the inhibitory effects of high concentrations of TDZ on shoot elongation (Preece and Imel, 1991; Malik et al. 1992; Feyissa et al., 2005; Raghu et al., 2006; Kumar and Reddy, 2010; Kumar et al., 2010a,b, 2011a,b), and our results are in agreement with the above ...
