Features Of Behavioural Economics
Behavioural Economics ECN42260
Assessment 2
Behavioural Economics Public Policy
Rashi Mittal
16203017
Behavioural Economics is extensively being used to inform and develop policy interventions.
Behavioral economics brings insights from psychology and other social sciences into economic
models. Behavioural insights are also used for economic models of decision making. A key feature of
behavioural economics is its empirical approach. There is a growing scope of the contribution of
behavioural economics to the design and improvement of tax policy. Many behavioural economic
ideas have helped develop the traditional economic choice framework, in which people are assumed to
make rational, self interested and consistent choices. But that is not always the case behavioural
models suggests often different assumptions which make the predictions of the model align more
closely to observed outcomes and which explains the pattern of behavioural not easily ... Show more

The first is based on behavioural economics and nudging, the second is from cognitive social
psychology covering tax perspectives, morals, fairness and the role of social norms and the third is co
determination between government and consumer.
A good example of behavioural economics is the prospect theory in which it is demonstrated that most
of the people are risk averse for gains and risk seeking for equivalent losses.
The second insight discusses that taxpayers have positive attitude towards revenue authorities and
belief that the government works for the benefit of the individuals then there may be positive
relationship between tax morale and tax compliance. It is very essential that taxpayers feel that the
system is trustworthy, fair and just and the money paid by them is utilized in the right manner. There is
evidence that tax attitudes improve when the link to public expenditure is

Meaning Of The Ancreon Song
Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer that had boarded the British ship of their fleet to persuade
the British to release one of his friends who had been recently been arrested. Even though he got what
he had hoped for, the British refused to let them go. This is due to them already having knowledge of
the the attack that was about to occur. Therefore, under the British s watch, the British allowed them to
return to their ship. Under the watch of the British, Key witnessed the bombardment on Fort Mc
Henry. On the night of September 13, 1814, as he sat and watched, he continued to view the distinct
pictures that were there. This includes: clearing smoke, darkness, gunshots, and red. (Brinkley 176)
Then later, as he continued to watch what was happening on Fort Mc Henry, Key continued to write
his thoughts. Watching this, he thought to himself that the British would win, but in reality, it was an
American victory. On September 14, he saw the American flag still flying over the fort. (Siegel and
Green 30) While still on the ship, Key put all of his thoughts on paper making it into a poem. He
named this poem The Defence of Ft. Mc Henry . His poem was a tune of a older song set to The
Anacreon Song . Ralph Tomlinson wrote An Anacreon in Heaven that was used as a tone for Key to
write his poem. This song was commonly used for the Anacreontic Society. This club consisted of
wealthy men who were named after a poet, Anacreon. His poems mainly focused on love and wine.

Walter Rauschenbusch Social Gospel
In A Theology for the Social Gospel by Walter Rauschenbusch (1917), and Love and Justice:
Selections from the Shorter Writings of Reinhold Niebuhr (1957) are both sensitively passionate about
people, and the social gospel presented to them. Gonzalez shares, Rauschenbusch is amongst a small
core of liberals that devote their efforts to exploring and showing the relationship between the
demands of the gospel and the misery in which the urban masses lived. He insisted that the social and
economic life of the nation should conform to the requirements of the gospel, and showed that
economic liberalism the theory that the law of supply and demand suffices to regulate the marketplace
results in great inequity and social injustice. The task of Christian in that context is to seek to limit the
unbridled power of runaway capital, and to advocate the enactment of laws that will aid ... Show more

The social gospel plainly concentrates religious interest on the great ethical problems of social life.
The more the social gospel engages and inspires theological thought, the more religion is concentrated
on ethical righteousness. The social gospel is bound to be a reformatory and Christianizing force
inside of theology (p.15). The social gospel approximates lay religion. It deals with the ethical
problems of the present life with which the common man is familiar and which press upon his
conscience. Yet it appeals to God, his will, his kingdom; to Christ, his spirit, his law. There will be an
increase of health when theology takes in hand the problems of social redemption and considers how
its doctrines connect with the Kingdom of God in actual realization (p.17). The social gospel fuses the
Christian spirit and the social consciousness in a new outreaching toward God and in remarkable
experiences of his comfort

Theme Of Imperfection In The Scarlet Letter
The Scarlet Letter
Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American author that lived in the 1800 s. Hawthorne was also part of the
anti transcendentalism movement. Do to the fact that his great uncle was John Hathorne, Hawthorne
became somewhat obsessed with the Puritan time of the 1600 s. This was a time period in which as his
books are written in, including his most famous The Scarlet Letter. In The Scarlet Letter Hawthorne
uses the symbolism of Pearl, Hester s Cabin, and Dimmesdale to contribute to the overall theme of
imperfection.
To begin, Hawthorne uses Pearl to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. Pearl is the
beautiful daughter of Hester the main character, and Dimmesdale a minister. Even though Pearl is
beautiful she was born in prison as a child of adultery. As regular child would commonly be pure, for
they had just come from the hands of God, Pearl was more wicked as if she had been presented by the
devil to the hands of her mother because of her adultery. Hawthorne says, God, as a direct
consequence of sin... had given her a lovely child... (Hawthorne 81). This quote explains that Pearl is a
beautiful treasure that came from her mother s sinful act of adultery so she is imperfect. This is just
like how beautiful pearl that is made from the grinding together of sand inside of a dirty clam is
imperfect. As the story goes on it begins to talk about how Pearl is the living form of the A. Hester
says, She is my happiness! She is my torture, none the less!

Irish Republican Army Essay
Irish independence has been fought for a long time ever since the British occupied Ireland in 1172.
The King of England invaded and controlled Ireland. The invasion led to religious and territorial
conflicts. There was an effort to create a church comparable to the Church of England in the 1500s.
Catholics who live in Ireland were against the idea and a conflict for independence has emerged
(Arena Arrigo, 2004). The suppression of Irish nationalism by the British in the 20th century led to the
creation of martyrs for the cause led by the Irish Republican Army (Combs, 2011).
The alleged origin of the Irish Republican Army could be traced back to the Easter Rising of 1916
(Alonso, 2001; Arena Arrigo, 2004; Filardo Llamas, 2013; Hart, 1997; Page Smith, 2000). Radical
nationalists, who were part of a group called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB), took the
opportunity to take up arms against the British during the war in Europe (Filardo Llamas, 2013). The
Irish Republican Brotherhood was the precursor of the modern IRA. They were a secret society who

The campaign had ultimately led to the creation of the Act of Ireland of 1920. This created a twenty
six county Irish Free State and six counties in Northern Ireland (Filardo Llamas, 2013; White, 1989).
This act also allowed Northern Ireland to choose whether or not to stay with Britain or become part of
the Free State. Northern Ireland ultimately decided to stay with the United Kingdom and Northern
Ireland created its own parliament in Stormont in Belfast (Bosi, 2012; Filardo Llamas, 2013). The
Free State was mostly inhabited by Catholics while Northern Ireland was populated mostly by
Protestants (White, 1989). But the road to have a Free State did come at a price. Over 7,500 people
lost their lives or were wounded between 1917 and 1923. Many lost their homes, family and friends

Masculinity And Its Effect On Society
These claims by culture and feminism do not match up with the definition of manliness, and that is
where the debate lies. If the discrepancy was due to the researchers Mansfield and Gilmore, what are
they to make of their observations and study? What are we to do with centuries of history in which
humans lived with men at the helm because they were needed? How are we to explain the unconscious
feeling that a man is doing right when he works to provide for his family? How can we explain the
opposite feeling when a man does not? The argument that is not being made on the manliness side is
that men should be the only ones in government or in business or that misogyny plays any role at all.
They are not arguing for a return of the patriarchy, but they are arguing for a return of true manliness.
It is here that we find the real problem of men today. In a culture that ignores true masculinity and a
society that has no need for men to follow a code, manliness has become something of the past.
Recalling the illustration of Tahiti, men today have a Tahiti mindset. There is no longer any need for
men to protect, provide and procreate due to the expansion of technology and culture. There is little to
compel men to follow manly principles thus they simply choose not to. Jack Donovan puts it this way:
For what may be the first time in history, the average guy can afford to be careless (188). Men can
afford to opt out of contributing to society because there are little to no

Diversity And Inclusion For Diversity
In the most simplest terms diversity and inclusion can be explained by diversity being the mix and
inclusion is getting the mix to work well together. In broader terms, diversity is anything that can be
used to differentiate groups and people from one another. This can be anything from life experiences,
learning styles, personality types to race, gender, sexual orientation or even county of origin. These
differences can be used to achieve quality teaching, learning and support services. Inclusion is used to
describe a state of being valued, respected and also supported. The term is also used to describe the
active, intentional and ongoing engagement with diversity. This also focuses on the need of every
particular person and making sure that the right conditions are set for them to reach their full potential.
Diversity is the balance in each individual in a certain group, whereas inclusion is the strategies that
allow each person s strengths to be welcomed and embraced. It is important to spread the rule of
diversity and inclusion in the workplace in order to ensure that your employees feel comfortable and
valued in your company. When a diversity and inclusion agreement is in place you have to make sure
that staff, faculty and anyone going in or out of the office are actually practicing it. This means
celebrating different cultures, religions and ethnicities as well as equipping the employees with
programs to strengthen their skills and knowledge about each other s

Media And Driving Essay
For the past couple of decades, Media plays a significant part in shaping our perspective on society.
This is evident through a majority of films, television shows and news sources portraying males as
dominant, power hungry and thrill seekers. This is considered a common misinterpretation of
hegemonic masculinity as media often refers to this behavior as a focus on being the alpha male
(Moston, S, Coventry, G, 2012). In relation to the chosen criminal offense; NSW crime: Dangerous
Driving Occasioning Death or Grievous Bodily Harm, the theory of labeling heavily correlates with
the relationship between media and reckless driving. Criminologists Stephen Moston and Garry

However, illegal drug use is not widely considered on its overall effect on an individuals driving
ability. Drugs overall have a major negative effect on our ability to drive. Majority of drugs include a
depressant, which slows down an individual s coordination and cognitive skills, resulting in minor and
severe motor accidents (Goode, Erich, 2008). Those that identify with a stimulate drug, generate
tension and anxiety/anxiousness, which usually results in the driver becoming less rational and more
hasty in their decision making. Erich Goode references this to the Enslavement Model, it is evident
that majority of the believed masculine population turn to drugs as a causation of minor or severe
mental issues and take refuge in drug use (Goode, Erich, 2008). Both drugs and alcohol should be
baron in any case revolving around driving, as your emotional state, weight, gender and tolerance can
vary your reaction and effect your cognitive skills (Ross, Stuart, 2012). On the Transport for NSW
website, statistics state that car crashes involving drink driving have a 1/5 chance of someone losing
their life (Transport for NSW, 2016). There is an overall improvement on the war on drugs, as
authorities are now able to stop any driver and request a drug and/or alcohol test. However, although
this is a major improvement, there is still a large portion of Australia that ignores this due to their

Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus Essay
Tone in Sylvia Plath s Lady Lazarus
In Lady Lazarus by Sylvia Plath, the speaker s tone is revealed through many different poetic aspects.
Throughout her writing, the speaker s attitude towards death appears to be happy but, when looking
more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly through the diction,
images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s feelings about death.
First, diction or word choice used throughout this poem depicts apart the meaning and stresses the
tone. Next, the images used to describe the speaker s experiences with death shows the emotions and
thoughts that go through the speaker s mind concerning death. These events the speaker ... Show more

I manage it (3), sort of (4), Do I terrify? (12), underestimate (72) and Beware (80) explain the choice
of words by Plath that explains the doubtful tone of the poem and helps to create the image of death
through the shallow voice of this helpless woman.
Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example,
annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd / Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and That
knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means to destroy,
which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers to the
others and their discouragement in this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an
unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe the speaker s
feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem
further supports the pessimistic nature.
Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore, internally
affect the tone of the poem. First, in line fourteen they use the word vanish which means to go away
and never come back. This word is directly related to what death means and in using this word
suggests that there is death involved in this particular poem, and the attitude towards it is not positive.

The Giver Community
The Giver by Lois Lowry written in 1993 captures a setting of a dystopia of conformity and
contentment where emotions and individuality are unacceptable and frowned upon in this type of
society. The main character, Jonas, obtains his jobs as The Receiver and spends time with an old man
who is The Giver, who keeps memories and knowledge from past communities. Jonas, an adolescent
boy of 12 who lives in a utopian society. In the Community everyone is equal, and there is only a gray
routine of existence. But Jonas is singled out by The Giver, a wise old man who teaches Jonas the
range of human emotions, and the two then plots the salvation of the Community. (n. pag) Before,

Having no personal freedoms to do so in Jonas community is completely outrageous. People in this
community believe that everything should be the same and everyone needs to be the same. As Jonas,
being an individual, lives on being different and no the same from everyone else. The failure of the
previous selection was ten years ago, and my energy is starting to diminish. I need what strength I
have remaining for your training. We have hard and painful work to do, you and I (Lowry 96). The
Giver is saying that him and Jonas have can use their own individual skills to fulfill their duties. Jonas
community knows that he is different from everyone else, that is why he is chosen to be the Receiver
and soon after his training and the old man leaving his work to live until his release inter House of
Old. The only character allowed any degree of personal freedom is The Giver. The power of his
individuality is symbolized. . . (Telgen and Hile 160 182). Being The Giver is a sign of personal
freedoms. Jonas will soon have the personal freedom while everyone else will forever learn the
routine of non individuality. The Giver exhibits the unique quality of combining the theme of
responsibility in society within a literary context agreeable to adolescents. Themes such as the power
of knowledge, conformity, censorship, governmental control, and responsibility for self provide
students with the foundation with which to explore their roles in society (Tarner, Danielle, and Adam
Umak). The Giver explains that if one should be their own person then one should have themes of
power. Having a sense of responsibility is an important characteristic of being an

The Effects Of Epigenetic Changes During Postnatal...
Another experiment studies maternal separation in mice that showed one to three hours of separation
per day throughout the postnatal period induced multiple changes with neuroendocrine and

pituitary adrenal) axis response to stress due to brain region specific epigenetic alterations that were
induced through the reductions of maternal care experienced (Champagne, 2012, p43). The

Moreover, gender roles were an adaptation that developed through evolution such that females grew
into roles that were more empathetic while males would become more aggressive. The studying of
sexual differentiation, behavioral, and hormonal variations helps to advance our understanding of
epigenetics in the shaping of the social brain. Identifying how the interactive nature of society, media,
and a child s own understanding influences gender learning will assist scientists to better discern how
the roles are currently changing, and what we should expect in the future. Epigenetic and lifestyle Not
only social experiences cause epigenetic changes, but also the lifestyle. Although epigenetic marks are
more consistent during adulthood, it follows the human lifespan through the malleability of the
lifestyle varieties and environmental impact. Nutritional bioactivity in certain foods can modify gene
expression via alteration in DNA with methylation and histone modifications, which have influences
on health and wellbeing ( Epigenetics: the link between nature and nurture, 2013). Studies have
revealed that different foods have different impacts on the epigenome and health; for example, diets
that are high in fat, and low in low carbohydrates may open up chromatin and improve mental
capability via HDAC (histone deacetylase) inhibitors (Epigenetics: Fundamentals, History, and

Second Wave Feminism In Education
was not a lot of freedom for women in my generation. We did what we were supposed to do. I went to
school to teach because there weren t a lot of options to pursue any other kind of fields. She went on
to explain how opportunities began to open for women. A few years after I graduated in 1959, things
began to change. I don t think there were any kinds of political reforms yet, but women just began to
complain about not having enough options. Soon, the schools began to listen, and all types of fields
began to open up for women in education. She further stated, I wish I would have been a few years
younger, I would have liked all the changes that the 60s brought with it. I would have majored in

However, the theories themselves were not without criticism. For instance, the second wave feminist
did not make an effort to include men in their movement. In addition, the prominent focus of second
wave feminism was white middle class women. Furthermore, the second wave feminism did not focus
on multicultural concerns, such as the impact of sexism in addition to racism and oppression.
Additionally, feminist of this period were often disparaging of housewives and esteemed women who
worked over women who chose to stay at home and raise a family. In addition to these criticisms, the
empowerment prospective received criticism for focusing solely on working for change within an
existing system and not aiming to change the system as a whole (Van Wagner). Though many of these
concerns and criticisms were addressed in the third wave of feminism, the second wave isolated from
itself many men and women who would perhaps have otherwise been allies for change. Despite these
short coming, the second wave of feminism and the feminist theory brought about significant change
not only to specific institutions such as the education system, but also brought about awareness of the
inequalities and sexism that permeated nearly every facet of life for women prior to the 1960s and
1970s. Feminist theory was birthed out of the lack of opportunities that women like my grandmother
and those before her experienced. Even though she may not have directly benefited from the changes
that took place in society during her lifetime, she was able to see her children and grandchildren
inherit the opportunities that were not afforded to

Dorm Student Research Paper
When someone mentions the words single apartment student or dorm student , two images of
contrasting people normally come to mind. At the University of Louisiana at Monroe, students who
live in the apartments by themselves are painted out to be shy, withdrawn individuals who prefer to
work alone and have difficulty making friends due to always being in solitude. However, students who
reside in the dorms with another roommate tend to be more likely to study in groups and are more
outgoing individuals because they go through the process of getting to know their roommate, a
stranger. This preconception, nonetheless, can occasionally be the opposite. Once in a while, there are
people who are rather opposite from the presumption they ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
On the surface, Haley s always crossed arms and darting eyes would give off the impression that she is
a withdrawn individual. However, after moving into a dorm with a roommate, she has become more
unreserved, stating that, When you are in a dorm, it forces you to become familiar with a complete
stranger. Another social advantage of living in the dorms is having the opportunity to become familiar
with the people who live in the rooms surrounding theirs. I could simply be walking down the hall and
someone else who lives here greets me, she says. Even the simplest act of a greeting from another
resident causes her to feel more extroverted. Although living in a dorm has caused her to become more
outgoing, Haley still prefers to study alone rather than in a group. Studying alone is the best way that
she retains information, but having a roommate can sometimes conflict with her study schedule. There
are times when I want to study but my roommate is doing something that distracts me, she remarks,
shedding light into why she will sometimes go out of her way to find a quiet place in the library to
study. Even though her roommate causes a slight conflict from time to time, Haley is ultimately
pleased with the benefits that come with a roommate, saying, I feel my roommate made me more
outgoing because she is my friend now. When you are in a dorm, it forces you to become familiar with
a complete stranger. I wouldn t look at it as a bad thing, but a learning

Annotated In The Sage Of Theare
In The Sage of Theare , a child, Thasper is born, and is prophesized to be the Sage of Dissolution, a
title that is much unwanted in the world because it brings disorder. Thasper is transferred to a different
world to grow up in but once he hears of stories about the Sage of Dissolution, he travels to learn more
about this mysterious character. Although The Sage of Theare takes place in a fictional world, Diana
Wynne Jones creates a world of order by using diction, as well as personal experiences to bring light
to how current society mimics the social context of the story.
The world on Earth is constructed very differently from the world of Theare but the people that reside
in both worlds have the same tendencies to want order. On Earth, ... Show more content on

In an interview that she had, she said, The Sage of Theare started because I remembered, or thought I
remembered, a story by Borges being read on the radio, in which a scholar arduously tracked down a
learned man but never quite found him. I started having dreams about it strange circular dreams in a
strange city where gods took a hand and the dream person never found the wise man he was looking
for. In order to exorcise the dreams, I wrote the story. Here, the rhetor s original purpose of writing
this story was to get rid of her strange dreams. However, this adds on to the idea that people are
uncomfortable with disorder because her strange dreams deviate from the norm and she wants it to
disappear. This is similar to the story because the gods that live in Theare hate disorder. Also, because
the rhetor wrote this in the time that she did, many events that occurred during the 1980s in Britain
might have influenced the way she wrote this story and why she wrote it. As mentioned previously,
Britain experienced political unrest during this time. There were many riots sparked by racial tensions,
local problems, and poor relations between predominantly black communities and the police. There
was also conflict in prisons as prisoners started a hunger strike to protest the right to be treated as
political prisoners, resulting in 61 deaths. Not only that, economic recession in Britain during this time
resulted in high unemployment rates of up to three million unemployed citizens. Because Diana
Wynne Jones wrote The Sage of Theare during this time, the story reflects some aspects of these
events. For example, the world of Theare is crafted to be a utopian society, a world of order where
there is no chaos. The rhetor might have chosen to depict Theare in this way as a distraction from what
is actually going on in the real world. In this fantasy world, everything

Gender and Life Expectancy
Gender and Life Expectancy It s a phenomena seen in every population and every country: women
live longer than men by 4 to 5 years everywhere. At first people tried to explain this fact by saying that
men did more dangerous things and therefore died younger. Men ride motorcycles, don t go see the
doctor and just take more risks. When the statisticians got done with the data, though, these
explanations didn t really explain much. It seems women just live longer. In fact, men are around five
times more likely to die from cardiovascular problems than women. Why could this be happening?
Life expectancy in the human race has risen dramatically in the past century (Harris, 2009) reaching
its highest level for both males and females on record (Office for National Statistics (ONS), 2006).
Japan currently has the longest surviving individual with a life span averaging 84 years for both men
and women (World Health Organization (WHO), 2006). According to Rooney et al (2004) the term
life expectancy is defined as the number of years that somebody can expect to live, according to
statistics (p. 1084).Over the last 100 years, the expectancy of life has increased and the overall goal is
to live a long and healthy life. Some social scientists have predicted that the western population has a
possible life span within the range of 85 100years. Others have suggested that with medical advances
humans can be expected to live beyond these ages. The longest lived human on record was 122 years

The Holocaust And The Nazi Party
Between the years of 1939 and 1945 many of the people in Germany let out their inner beast. Some
likely never knew this inner brutality existed within them and others had kept it hidden deep inside
intentionally. Irma Grese used the Holocaust to express her inner most anger and hate. She abused,
killed, and controlled the people in the camps she worked at, all with the blessings of the German
Nazis she worked for. A Holocaust survivor, Olga Lyngel, later described Grese as a twenty two year
old girl...completely without pity. This description of Irma Grese only gives a glimpse into her true
essence. She consisted of a nature so completely devoid of compassion and empathy it barely
resembled anything close to normal human behavior. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her father worked on someone else s land for wages. Alfred and Berta Grese raised their children in
Wrechen, a small village located north of Berlin, near the future location of Ravensbrück
concentration camp. Alfred Grese did join the NAZI party, but never received the indoctrination that
Irma did. Irma at age twelve returned home with her father and siblings to find her mother had
committed suicide by drinking hydrochloric acid. Her sister Helene testified at her trial on her behalf
and seemed to claim that other children bullied Irma as a child and that she tended to be a coward.
Helene Grese stated in her testimony, In our schooldays when, as it sometimes happens, girls were
quarrelling and fighting, my sister had never the courage to fight, but on the contrary she ran away.
She left home around the age of fourteen and moved to a nearby village working on a local farm. She
obtained several menial jobs over the next few years. At the age of fifteen she went to work as an
apprentice nurse at Hohenlychen. History professor Wendy Lower wrote in her book, Hitler s Furies,
that, Young women of modest backgrounds asserted themselves by leaving their villages, enrolling in
training programs as typists or nurses, and joining a political movement. This statement seems to
apply directly to Irma Grese. Her work as a nurse at Hohenlychen likely introduced her to the

Rosetta Research Paper
On March 2 2004, the European Space Agency (ESA) launched the Rosetta spacecraft with the Philae
lander on a 10 year trajectory towards the comet Churyumov Gerasimenko(67P). Comet 67P was not
the planned destination for the Rosetta mission however, the mission was planned for comet
Wirtanen(46P). However, due to the failure of the Hot Bird 7 launch, the mission had to be delayed
until they determined the cause of the problem. The mission was set for a new comet, 67P. The
Rosetta mission was deployed using an Ariane 5 rocket, built by the ESA and launched on March 2
2004 at 7:17 GMT from Guiana Space Center.

Figure 2 shows one of these pictures, nicknamed The Fist because of its fist like appearance. This is an
indication of tectonic layering in the comet. The other photograph was of a crack. Experts currently do
not know why a crack would form on the surface. The only theory right now is that there is tectonic
movement that caused the crack to form. The Rosetta mission also measured non visual data. Rosetta
found that the magnetic fields of 67P oscillated at 40 50 millihertz. It was discovered later that the
magnetic fields were caused by solar winds, not the comet s core. This means that the magnetic field
varies based on the solar winds at that moment of time. Rosetta took the isotopic signature of water
vapor in the coma, the gasses surrounding the comet. The water was compared to the water found on
earth and it was found to have more deuterium than on earth. The deuterium to hydrogen ration was
three times that on earth. Thus, water on earth could not have been brought by comets like 67P, the
comet would have to have similar ration of deuterium to hydrogen ratio. The water vapor being
released by 67P is increasing as the comet heads towards the sun. In June of 2014, there was an
ejection of 300 milliliters of water per second. By August, there was 1200 milliliters of water being
ejected each second. This increase of water vapor in the coma is one of the comet s behaviors as

In Chapter 14 of Ken Blanchard s Leading at a Higher Level, we learn that servant leaders are a part
of a different type of leadership. Servant leaders want to make a difference in the lives of their people
and, in the process, impact the organization (pg.262). Ken Blanchard also offers several different
scenarios of those that can be referred to as a servant leader for example, the DMV manager
mentioned on pg.263, although the examples were helpful in understanding this concept I have found
that the character of Norma Rae offered the best understanding. Norma Rae was a hardworking,
determined, and independent woman. She was a servant leader who put herself aside to help change
other people s life for the better. In the movie Norma Rae

Concentration Camps At Auschwitz Essay
Did you know that over one million people died at Auschwitz? Auschwitz was the largest
concentration camp of all the concentration camps. It was also the most horrifying. concentration
camps were camps where people were detained without trial. They were kept in extremely harsh
conditions and without any rights. Concentration camps were an atrocious aspect of World War II
because of what happened to the people that lived there and simply because of the reason they were
there. Concentration camps were camps where people were detained without trial and were tortured by
the Nazis. Between 1933 and 1945, Nazi Germany established about 20,000 camps to imprison its

At Auschwitz, the largest of all concentration camps to have existed, children were often killed upon
arrival. Children born in the camps were generally killed on the spot (auschwitz.dk). As to say that
innocent children were brutally murdered for not being able to do tasks meant for men. Prisoners were
fed a small cup of watery soup, a piece of bread, and imitation coffee and sometimes not at all
(www.theholocaustexplained.org). Prisoners were starved and even to death for being unliked. Nazi
Germany exploited the labor of the occupied peoples from the onset of the occupation. More that
fourteen million people and 2.5 million prisoners of war were transported to Germany for labor
(yadvashem.org). Nazis took many occupied people and prisoners to yield other camps with prisoners
to do their dirty work, simply because of the hatred for people different from themselves.
Concentration camps established a foundation for Hitler s hatred. These camps may have not been a
direct cause for World War II, but they did set a sturdy base for theNazi s to take control and they will
always be a memory of the people we lost and how they are part of why we have freedom today.

My Journey To The World Essay
Gateway To The World
Traveling isn t in everyone s favor, but it sure is in mine. British novelist, Lawrence Durrell once
quoted, Travel can be one of the most rewarding forms of introspection. The reason I enjoy traveling
is because it takes me on a journey for finding my inner self. Before traveling, I ve always been closed
minded at how I viewed the world, but once I got a bigger look at how the world works, my thoughts
and I, myself have changed. It all begins on a sweltering day in Schertz, Texas. My mom had received
a phone call that was certain to come at some point. The person on the other side of the phone
informed her that we would have to travel to Turkey and live there for 2 years. Since I was 5 years old
at the time, I thought traveling to foreign countries every now and then was normal for every family.
There were trucks coming and going, suit case zippers zipping, and chaos all around me. One month
later, I m was on a plane headed to this unknown country that was too far away for the impatient self
that I am. Eager to march out of the plane, I was at last at the final destination. As I looked around the
Adana Airport, people looked different and their clothing was divergent as they wore dilapidated shirts
and pants. Entering the real world of Turkey, transportation mainly consisted of grimy metro buses
and bikes. The atmosphere smelled like thousands of Burger King Whoppers were trampled on with a
side of six week old onion rings. After all the luggage

Why Did So Many American Countries Begin To Expand
Expansionism was a key component during this time frame, as many countries were battling to take
over other countries land or saving the land they had. However, defending countries did not always
win these battles due to several causes. Therefore, how did countries begin to expand their land and
how did the tactics of using new weaponry and the use of water help these countries expand their
land? Countries were going into battle to try to conquer more land, by doing so, if they were
victorious they were able to call the land theirs. They would conquer the land by tactics of using the
waterways and new weaponry that would give them an efficient way of winning the land. The
Europeans used their transoceanic powers, land frontiers powers, and the western states in Americans
to expand. The transoceanic powers were important to Britain as they had the most transoceanic gains.
Not only did Britain use the water to make advances in other countries to expand, but so did France.

Features Of Behavioural Economics Behavioural Economics ECN42260 Assessment 2 Behavioural Economics Public Policy Rashi Mittal 16203017 Behavioural Economics is extensively being used to inform and develop policy interventions. Behavioral economics brings insights from psychology and other social sciences into economic models. Behavioural insights are also used for economic models of decision making. A key feature of behavioural economics is its empirical approach. There is a growing scope of the contribution of behavioural economics to the design and improvement of tax policy. Many behavioural economic ideas have helped develop the traditional economic choice framework, in which people are assumed to make rational, self interested and consistent choices. But that is not always the case behavioural models suggests often different assumptions which make the predictions of the model align more closely to observed outcomes and which explains the pattern of behavioural not easily ... The first is based on behavioural economics and nudging, the second is from cognitive social psychology covering tax perspectives, morals, fairness and the role of social norms and the third is co determination between government and consumer. A good example of behavioural economics is the prospect theory in which it is demonstrated that most of the people are risk averse for gains and risk seeking for equivalent losses. The second insight discusses that taxpayers have positive attitude towards revenue authorities and belief that the government works for the benefit of the individuals then there may be positive relationship between tax morale and tax compliance. • 13. Meaning Of The Ancreon Song Francis Scott Key was an American lawyer that had boarded the British ship of their fleet to persuade the British to release one of his friends who had been recently been arrested. Even though he got what he had hoped for, the British refused to let them go. This is due to them already having knowledge of the the attack that was about to occur. Therefore, under the British s watch, the British allowed them to return to their ship. Under the watch of the British, Key witnessed the bombardment on Fort Mc Henry. On the night of September 13, 1814, as he sat and watched, he continued to view the distinct pictures that were there. This includes: clearing smoke, darkness, gunshots, and red. (Brinkley 176) Then later, as he continued to watch what was happening on Fort Mc Henry, Key continued to write his thoughts. Watching this, he thought to himself that the British would win, but in reality, it was an American victory. On September 14, he saw the American flag still flying over the fort. (Siegel and Green 30) While still on the ship, Key put all of his thoughts on paper making it into a poem. He named this poem The Defence of Ft. Mc Henry . His poem was a tune of a older song set to The Anacreon Song . Ralph Tomlinson wrote An Anacreon in Heaven that was used as a tone for Key to write his poem. This song was commonly used for the Anacreontic Society. This club consisted of wealthy men who were named after a poet, Anacreon. His poems mainly focused on love and wine. ... • 14. Walter Rauschenbusch Social Gospel In A Theology for the Social Gospel by Walter Rauschenbusch (1917), and Love and Justice: Selections from the Shorter Writings of Reinhold Niebuhr (1957) are both sensitively passionate about people, and the social gospel presented to them. Gonzalez shares, Rauschenbusch is amongst a small core of liberals that devote their efforts to exploring and showing the relationship between the demands of the gospel and the misery in which the urban masses lived. He insisted that the social and economic life of the nation should conform to the requirements of the gospel, and showed that economic liberalism the theory that the law of supply and demand suffices to regulate the marketplace results in great inequity and social injustice. The task of Christian in that context is to seek to limit the unbridled power of runaway capital, and to advocate the enactment of laws that will aid ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The social gospel plainly concentrates religious interest on the great ethical problems of social life. The more the social gospel engages and inspires theological thought, the more religion is concentrated on ethical righteousness. The social gospel is bound to be a reformatory and Christianizing force inside of theology (p.15). The social gospel approximates lay religion. It deals with the ethical problems of the present life with which the common man is familiar and which press upon his conscience. Yet it appeals to God, his will, his kingdom; to Christ, his spirit, his law. There will be an increase of health when theology takes in hand the problems of social redemption and considers how its doctrines connect with the Kingdom of God in actual realization (p.17). The social gospel fuses the Christian spirit and the social consciousness in a new outreaching toward God and in remarkable experiences of his comfort ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Theme Of Imperfection In The Scarlet Letter The Scarlet Letter Nathaniel Hawthorne was an American author that lived in the 1800 s. Hawthorne was also part of the anti transcendentalism movement. Do to the fact that his great uncle was John Hathorne, Hawthorne became somewhat obsessed with the Puritan time of the 1600 s. This was a time period in which as his books are written in, including his most famous The Scarlet Letter. In The Scarlet Letter Hawthorne uses the symbolism of Pearl, Hester s Cabin, and Dimmesdale to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. To begin, Hawthorne uses Pearl to contribute to the overall theme of imperfection. Pearl is the beautiful daughter of Hester the main character, and Dimmesdale a minister. Even though Pearl is beautiful she was born in prison as a child of adultery. As regular child would commonly be pure, for they had just come from the hands of God, Pearl was more wicked as if she had been presented by the devil to the hands of her mother because of her adultery. Hawthorne says, God, as a direct consequence of sin... had given her a lovely child... (Hawthorne 81). This quote explains that Pearl is a beautiful treasure that came from her mother s sinful act of adultery so she is imperfect. This is just like how beautiful pearl that is made from the grinding together of sand inside of a dirty clam is imperfect. As the story goes on it begins to talk about how Pearl is the living form of the A. Hester says, She is my happiness! She is my torture, none the less! ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. Irish Republican Army Essay Irish independence has been fought for a long time ever since the British occupied Ireland in 1172. The King of England invaded and controlled Ireland. The invasion led to religious and territorial conflicts. There was an effort to create a church comparable to the Church of England in the 1500s. Catholics who live in Ireland were against the idea and a conflict for independence has emerged (Arena Arrigo, 2004). The suppression of Irish nationalism by the British in the 20th century led to the creation of martyrs for the cause led by the Irish Republican Army (Combs, 2011). The alleged origin of the Irish Republican Army could be traced back to the Easter Rising of 1916 (Alonso, 2001; Arena Arrigo, 2004; Filardo Llamas, 2013; Hart, 1997; Page Smith, 2000). Radical nationalists, who were part of a group called the Irish Republican Brotherhood (IRB), took the opportunity to take up arms against the British during the war in Europe (Filardo Llamas, 2013). The Irish Republican Brotherhood was the precursor of the modern IRA. They were a secret society who was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The campaign had ultimately led to the creation of the Act of Ireland of 1920. This created a twenty six county Irish Free State and six counties in Northern Ireland (Filardo Llamas, 2013; White, 1989). This act also allowed Northern Ireland to choose whether or not to stay with Britain or become part of the Free State. • 17. Masculinity And Its Effect On Society These claims by culture and feminism do not match up with the definition of manliness, and that is where the debate lies. If the discrepancy was due to the researchers Mansfield and Gilmore, what are they to make of their observations and study? What are we to do with centuries of history in which humans lived with men at the helm because they were needed? How are we to explain the unconscious feeling that a man is doing right when he works to provide for his family? How can we explain the opposite feeling when a man does not? The argument that is not being made on the manliness side is that men should be the only ones in government or in business or that misogyny plays any role at all. They are not arguing for a return of the patriarchy, but they are arguing for a return of true manliness. It is here that we find the real problem of men today. In a culture that ignores true masculinity and a society that has no need for men to follow a code, manliness has become something of the past. Recalling the illustration of Tahiti, men today have a Tahiti mindset. There is no longer any need for men to protect, provide and procreate due to the expansion of technology and culture. There is little to compel men to follow manly principles thus they simply choose not to. Jack Donovan puts it this way: For what may be the first time in history, the average guy can afford to be careless (188). Men can afford to opt out of contributing to society because there are little to no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 20. Diversity And Inclusion For Diversity In the most simplest terms diversity and inclusion can be explained by diversity being the mix and inclusion is getting the mix to work well together. In broader terms, diversity is anything that can be used to differentiate groups and people from one another. This can be anything from life experiences, learning styles, personality types to race, gender, sexual orientation or even county of origin. These differences can be used to achieve quality teaching, learning and support services. Inclusion is used to describe a state of being valued, respected and also supported. The term is also used to describe the active, intentional and ongoing engagement with diversity. This also focuses on the need of every particular person and making sure that the right conditions are set for them to reach their full potential. Diversity is the balance in each individual in a certain group, whereas inclusion is the strategies that allow each person s strengths to be welcomed and embraced. It is important to spread the rule of diversity and inclusion in the workplace in order to ensure that your employees feel comfortable and valued in your company. When a diversity and inclusion agreement is in place you have to make sure that staff, faculty and anyone going in or out of the office are actually practicing it. Throughout her writing, the speaker s attitude towards death appears to be happy but, when looking more closely at Plath s use of poetic devices her attitude is bitter. Shown mainly through the diction, images, sounds and repetition, this depressing tone emphasizes the speaker s feelings about death. First, diction or word choice used throughout this poem depicts apart the meaning and stresses the tone. Next, the images used to describe the speaker s experiences with death shows the emotions and thoughts that go through the speaker s mind concerning death. These events the speaker ... Also, there are words that describe actions taking place when death attempts occur. For example, annihilate (24), The peanut crunching crowd / Shoves in to see (26 27), I rocked shut (39) and That knocks me out (56) shows negative action towards death. First of all, annihilate means to destroy, which gives a downbeat connotation towards the tone of the poem. Then, the crowd refers to the others and their discouragement in this woman s life, which leads to disappointment and an unconstructive tone towards death in the poem. Then the last two examples describe the speaker s feelings towards a hopeless end to life. This type of diction used to accentuate the tone of the poem further supports the pessimistic nature. Lastly, another use of diction in Plath s poem is words associated with death and therefore, internally affect the tone of the poem. First, in line fourteen they use the word vanish which means to go away and never come back. This word is directly related to what death means and in using this word suggests that there is death involved in this particular poem, and the attitude towards it is not positive. ... In an interview that she had, she said, The Sage of Theare started because I remembered, or thought I remembered, a story by Borges being read on the radio, in which a scholar arduously tracked down a learned man but never quite found him. I started having dreams about it strange circular dreams in a strange city where gods took a hand and the dream person never found the wise man he was looking for. In order to exorcise the dreams, I wrote the story. Here, the rhetor s original purpose of writing this story was to get rid of her strange dreams. However, this adds on to the idea that people are uncomfortable with disorder because her strange dreams deviate from the norm and she wants it to disappear. This is similar to the story because the gods that live in Theare hate disorder. Also, because the rhetor wrote this in the time that she did, many events that occurred during the 1980s in Britain might have influenced the way she wrote this story and why she wrote it. As mentioned previously, Britain experienced political unrest during this time. There were many riots sparked by racial tensions, local problems, and poor relations between predominantly black communities and the police. There was also conflict in prisons as prisoners started a hunger strike to protest the right to be treated as political prisoners, resulting in 61 deaths. Not only that, economic recession in Britain during this time resulted in high unemployment rates of up to three million unemployed citizens. Because Diana Wynne Jones wrote The Sage of Theare during this time, the story reflects some aspects of these events. At first people tried to explain this fact by saying that men did more dangerous things and therefore died younger. Men ride motorcycles, don t go see the doctor and just take more risks. When the statisticians got done with the data, though, these explanations didn t really explain much. It seems women just live longer. In fact, men are around five times more likely to die from cardiovascular problems than women. Why could this be happening? Life expectancy in the human race has risen dramatically in the past century (Harris, 2009) reaching its highest level for both males and females on record (Office for National Statistics (ONS), 2006). Japan currently has the longest surviving individual with a life span averaging 84 years for both men and women (World Health Organization (WHO), 2006). According to Rooney et al (2004) the term life expectancy is defined as the number of years that somebody can expect to live, according to statistics (p. 1084).Over the last 100 years, the expectancy of life has increased and the overall goal is to live a long and healthy life. The Rosetta mission also measured non visual data. Rosetta found that the magnetic fields of 67P oscillated at 40 50 millihertz.
