Censorship Of Female Nipples On Social Media
Censorship of Female Nipples on Social Media
Censorship has become a controversial topic on social media platforms. This has been clearly
exemplified online with the use of hashtags like #freethenipple. The #freethenipple was
spearheaded by activist and filmmaker Lina Esco, which will be explained more thoroughly. The
popularity of these social media website has allowed campaigns like #freethenipple to have
worldwide success. In addition to this campaign I will be taking a deeper look into Courtney
Demone, a transgender women who has tested Instagrams censorship policies regarding the female
chest and what Instagram considers female. With these campaigns it is important that social media
platforms like Instagram review its policies regarding nudity and the female nipple.
Before I look into these campaigns it is important to first understand what censorship is. Censorship

#FreeTheNipple has failed to show the diverse ways in which people with differing bodies are
sexualized, fetishized, exoticized and shamed. It has also failed to recognize that baring her nipples
doesn t mean freedom for every woman, wrote Courtney Demone (Mashable, 2015).
Currently all of the pictures that Demone posted on Instagram revealing her nipple have been
removed except for one where she does not refer to herself as a female. However, the same pictures
remain on Facebook.
When Instagram was asked about why Demone pictures were removed they released a statement
saying, they understood the importance of an individual s personal journey (transitioning) and that
they do their best to help people express themselves on their sites. But, for women like Demone
and others like her who have identified themselves as trans women and use the pronoun she, their
pictures are being censored (dna,

Symbolism In The Veldt
While money can t buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery (Groucho
Marx). Money and pride are two things can prove extremely destructive to a family s relationship
with each other. The short story, The Veldt effectively demonstrates how so. This story is the first
of an anthropology, The Illustrated Man, written by Ray Bradbury, who is also known for writing
the successful book, The Martian Chronicles . In The Veldt , Bradbury proves the theme that pride
and money should not get in the way of living through the use of symbolism and dialogue.
Bradbury uses symbolism throughout the text. One example is the Happylife Home, a symbol of
the pride and money that ruined the lives of the Hadley family.

Use of Magical Realism in Chronicle of a Death Foretold...
Use of Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold
Magical realism is clearly present throughout Gabriel Garcia Marquez s novel Chronicle of a Death
Foretold. Magical realism is the juxtaposition of realism with fantastic, mythic, and magical
elements. A secondary trait was the characteristic attitude of narrators toward the subject matter:
they frequently appeared to accept events contrary to the usual operating laws of the universe as
natural, even unremarkable. Though the tellers of astonishing tales, they themselves expressed
little or no surprise.
Obviously the most concise definition of magical realism is that it is the combination of magical and
real elements. The magical elements that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The bride was given a chest with table settings in pure gold for twenty four guests. They also
brought in a ballet company and two waltz orchestras. (44)
This is clearly exaggeration because there is no doubt that the small poor town could not afford
such lavish gifts. Pedro saying that the pain in his groin had reached his throat and how he could
not sleep for eleven months are signs of magical realism. The narrator said that he believed him
when he said these things.
He was carrying a suitcase with clothing in order to stay and another just like it with almost two
thousand letters that she has written him they were arranged by date in bundles tied with colored
ribbons, and they were all unopened.
No person writes someone two thousand letters with reply let alone without one. This is ridiculous
but we accept it as truth because of Marquez s mastery of magical realism.
Chronicle of a Death Foretold has many humorous parts mostly because they are ludicrous. These
parts are magical realism because the suspend belief through humor.

The Socio-Cultural Analysis Of India
The Socio Cultural Analysis of India Culture is defined as The arts, beliefs, customs,
institutions, and other products of human work and thought considered as a unit, especially
with regard to a particular time or social group by American Heritage Dictionary of the English
Language (2011). Also, the Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms (2005) defines culture
as A feature of the terrain that has been constructed by man. Included are such items as roads,
buildings, and canals; boundary lines; and, in a broad sense, all names and legends on a map .
In a nutshell, culture is everything that makes up the basic ways of life. Culture is comprised of
five basic characteristics. Culture is learned, shared, symbolic, integrated, and dynamic (Bueno,
2012). This means that aspects of culture are spread by social interactions such as trade, language
and other communication technologies. Some of the more common forms of communication
technologies and language are movies, television shows, literature, arts, and local history.
Symbolism is similar to the learned and shared aspects in many ways. Language, literature, and
the arts are all major ways in which the symbolism of a specific culture is spread. The integration
of culture is based on pattern. The specific dimensions of social life create social norms that are
followed. The economy and politics are two of the more prevalent forms of social life that lead to
the patterns of integration. Lastly, there is a

An Ideal Weight Of The Body Mass Index
There are many people struggling to keep their weight ideal. An ideal weight according to the
medical definition is the weight that provides an individual with lowest health risks (Wicks,
2016). There are many different ways to figure out if an individual is considered to have ideal
weight; one of which is by measuring the body mass index, also known as BMI (Wicks, 2016).
BMI can be measured by weight in kilogram divided by height in meters squared. Ideal weight is
above 18.5 and below 24.5, anything below 18.5 is consider underweight and above 24.5 is
considered overweight (Wicks, 2016). Although BMI can be easily calculated, it does have some
concerns regarding the fact that it does not take into consideration body composition and
distribution (Wicks, 2016). To reach their ideal healthy weight some individuals turn to changing
their diet while others seem to turn to exercising. Those who turn to changing their diet take
kilocalories into consideration. Kilocalories is the unit used for measurement of energy, and to
determine one s weight, energy balance equation is used; this equation is energy input minus
energy output equals either positive or negative energy (Wicks, 2016). People who are overweight
consider these kilocalories in everything they eat and drink. Although there is more than one way to
achieve a healthy weight, exercising seems to be more beneficial for various reasons. Dieting
consists of changing and considering the nutritionvalue in every food item

Shared Knowledge And Personal Knowledge
Shared knowledge and personal knowledge, although they may come from the same concept of
acquiring them through a variety of situations, it differs on the process of gaining them. Thereupon,
such approach is seen through human sciences and natural sciences. Human sciences portray shared
knowledge through socio psychological experiments and theories created from personal
experiences and circumstances, as well as a set of collective norms and values that change
depending on a group of society or culture. On the other hand, natural sciences are made up of
theories, formulation of hypothesis and through experiments; which are obtained from paradigm
shifts where it involves perception, reasoning, language, and memory. But how does shared

Analysis Of Miss Lonelyhearts And The Day Of The Locust
In Miss Lonelyhearts and The Day of the Locust, each character experiences suffering, and in each
case the suffering is ridiculed. Schadenfreude is a basic human experience; human beings do find
humor in other s misfortune. Society is so accustomed to the feeling of schadenfreude that hardly
anyone knows exactly where it comes from or how distasteful it is. Society feeds schadenfreude of
physical pain by letting it reside throughout comedy. Almost every comedic movie, show, song,
sketch or any other form of entertainment is cluttered with people being hurt. Harry Greener s
clown show in The Day of the Locust is completely centered around his pain. When he stands up,
the audience, which failed to laugh at his joke, laughs at his limp, so he continues lame for the rest
of the act, (West, The Day 78). The entire comedy genre thrives off of schadenfreude. Perhaps this
is because the audience knows that the subject is not truly hurt, so it becomes funny to see people
such as Curly, Moe, and Larry beat each other. Perhaps it is because people use laughter as a shield
against pain. When people see pain they laugh to make it seem that it did not actually hurt. It is a
product of empathy for him who was hurt. Laughter serves to camouflage embarrassment which is
included in empathy. The ways in which characters receive injuries are usually embarrassing, and
the audience feels the embarrassment causing them to laugh.
Schadenfreude is embedded in human emotions such as envy,

The Chinese Revolution of 1949
The Chinese revolution of 1949
Introduction
The declaration of the People s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949 by the Chinese Communist
leader Mao Zedong signified a revolution in China that brought an end to the costliest civil war in
Chinese history between the Nationalist Party or Kuomintang (KMT) and the Chinese Communist
Party (CCP) that had lasted a period of 22 years from 1927 to 1949. The Chinese revolution of
1949 signified the beginning of an era of Communist Chinese rule ushered in by the popular
Chinese Communist Party at the expense of the Nationalist Party. According to historian Michael
Lestz, the Communist victory was an inevitability that was aided by the actions of the preceding
Nationalist government (Lestz, 2010). Lestz ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Second Unified Front was marred with distrust and suspicion and was therefore short lived.
Chiang Kai shek was not contented with shifting focus to the Japanese invasion and in the
processes expended KMT s resources on the Communists, while the communist took the opportunity
to further their influence among the rural peasants.
The CCP lobbied for its policies on land reforms that were lauded by the peasants as it included
fighting of the Japanese invaders from the land that rightfully belonged to the Chinese people more
so the peasants who had no wealth but ancestral land (Karl, 2010). The Nationalist party (KMT)
experienced dissent from the peasants due to the wartime corruption, undemocratic policies and
lack of a forward approach to fight against the Japanese invaders. The second Sino Japanese war
escalated to be part of the Second World War. The Sino Japanese war took a toll on the Chinese
economy and the Chinese public was disgruntled at the manner in which the KMT chose to handle
civil matters and the rising inflation that had increased the cost of living. General George Marshall
of the United States was astonished at the manner in which the KMT government did not concern
itself with the country s civil affairs and stated that the dominating KMT military accentuated the
weakness of the civil government, an administration system that he termed as deplorable. The KMT
generals were not capable of

Perfection In Dancing
Perfection in the eyes of dancers is thinness as well as good health, great performance, and overall
the best dancer. Perfection is an abstract idea that everyone wants to achieve. Smith states that
dancers are one of the most driven people, however perfection is their main obstacle. Their goal to
achieve perfection throws them off because they slowly begin to develop eating disorders without
realizing, all because they want to appear thinner and slim. Dancers are especially more prone to
developing eating disorders due to their environment and peers; the unhealthy body expectations

Eating disorders may initially be a choice not to eat but it becomes an addiction, similar to how
smoking or drinking becomes addictive. Ballerinas are more likely to dislike their body because
their body may not fit their body goals. Body dissatisfaction is present among 37% to 84% of
ballet dancers (Ringham). Similar to how some teens idolize celebrities rich lifestyles,
ballerinas idolize professional dancers body physiques. In the dancing world, having a skinny
body is praised. It is seem as a necessity as a dancer, when it really is not. The percentage is
unfortunately a high amount, which means that the eating disorders must be stopped. Coaches
and dance teachers are beginning to reach out to any of their students that seems to have an
eating disorder, by monitoring their behaviors and maybe their eating habits if permitted. It is
unfortunate to have dancers develop eating disorders from a hobby and passion that they love.
Anorexia [an eating disorder where one starves themselves] is something I will have to deal with

Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession etc., are the times we feel closer to God s presence,
therefore; Sacraments are like thin places, are there to remind us of God. Brothers and sisters,
let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries is how
the Eucharistic liturgy starts, which is basically taking us into a thin place. These ceremonies
and sacraments take us way closer to God and help us enter into a sacred mystery where we
encounter Christ. Every sacrament is a window through which the light of Christ can shine into
our darkness and through these, Christ comes into our lives. After learning about this in lecture,

The world of telecommunications is a dog eat dog world. Marketing and innovation is key.
Leading the pack as America s fastest growing network (*) is none other than T Mobile. Of course
it was not always this way. With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small
telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T

years later it was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 million and rebranded T
Mobile US the following year. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be
purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would
lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding
started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden
their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract
free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to
their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the
fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). In 2016 there were
talks of T Mobile purchasing Sprint. In November of 2017, after months of negotiations and

most common after effects. And in adults, septic shock, brain swelling, and hydrocephalus are most
likely to occur if the disease advances without treatment within a sufficient time period. The three
main bacteria responsible for bacterial meningitisare streptococcus pneumoniae, haemophilus

In the 1930s, infant mortality because of bacterial meningitis caused by Haemophilus influenza
type B was almost at one hundred percent. But with the onset of antibiotics in the 1960s, the
mortality rate was reduced to a mere range of five to ten percent. Thirty percent of survivors
were often left with defects such as deafness, blindness, seizures, and mental retardation(Mark A.
Herbert, ed. Derek W. Hood, ed. E. Richard Moxon, ed. Haemophilus influenza Protocols ,

and throat. Though they are dormant in the carrier, the carrier can still pass them on to another
person through ways such as: kissing, coughing, sneezing, sharing a cup, utensil, lip gloss, or
cigarette. In other words, through the exchange of respiratory and throat secretions. Some of these
ways of transmission are the core reasons as to why this disease is more prevalent in children under
five years of age (Common Bacterial Hib).
Streptococcus pneumoniae is a gram positive bacterium that is a normal inhabitant of the human
respiratory tract. This bacterium is present in the nasopharyngeal region of five to ten percent of
healthy adults and twenty to forty percent of healthy children and causes no harm to the individuals

Honesty In The Necklace
The short story, The Necklace , written by Guy de Maupassant, displays the the theme of honesty,

The Impact Of Substance Abuse On Mental Health
This paper examines current research and literature based on the impact of substance abuse on
mental health. Mental health is defined as those conditions in a society leading to a situation
where people in their individual capacities, and in interaction with one another as members of
groups are able to live lives of quality in all contexts of their existence (Psychological Association
of South Africa, 1989, p. 5).
A substance, otherwise known as a drug , alters mental states such as mood, perception or
consciousness when taken by a living organism (Fuhr, 1978). In the latest edition of the Diagnostic
and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM 5) substance abuse, also known as addiction, is
considered a disease (Griffin, 2015).
Substance use in South Africa has a long history (Meghdadpour, 2010). Researchers estimated that

Indian Colonies Under British Rule
Colonies under European rule manifested in two main forms: extractive colonies that were a way
for colonisers to both access a new market and extract resources as they saw fit and civilising
missions that attempted to bring Western norms and values to indigenous people under the guise
of religion alongside a notion of local culture being savage. At times there were also conflicts
between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the
other. India was once part of the British Empire and despite being a thriving nation today, it has had
a number of laws imposed on it both during colonization and globalization that have had significant
social, economic and political impact. One of the main consequences... Show more content on

Marriage in Britain was a largely independent affari compared to India where, once married, the
wife would proceed to live with her husband and his family. The consequence of changes to
inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager
inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new
husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage
and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were
to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late
husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a
cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the
families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring.
Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a
lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most widows as the deeply
rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . Thus slowly, almost as a
reaction to the British hijacking on Indian culture and law, customary laws began to be replaced by

The Pros And Cons Of Cryptography
INTRODUCTION
Cryptography Is considered the most important thing by means of secure communication. It is used
to encrypt and decrypt data and provide secure communication between the sender and receiver. As
a finance company, the most important thing to look after is the process speed and security of the
data. There are two types of encryption and decryption methods known as a Symmetric key and
Public key cryptography. Symmetric key has set of algorithms such as Blowfish, two fish, DES,
3DES, AES etc and on the other hand Asymmetric key has set of an algorithm such as Elliptic

Asymmetric cryptography:
Asymmetric encryption is also known as public key encryption. This uses two keys for
encryption and decryption of data. The two keys are the Public key which it can be shared with
anyone and the other one is a Private key or secret key which should be kept secretly. Each user
will have its own public key and private key. Let s assume Alice and Bob are the sender and
receiver. Alice(A) wants to send a message to Bob(B). Alice will first encrypt(E) the plaintext(M)
with Alice s public key and send to bob. Now Bob verifies Alice s message by checking whether it
is Alice s digital signature and then bob decrypts(D) the key using the bob private key. This process
will be the same if Bob sends Alice message.

Teaching Portfolio Analysis
In this portfolio, I have documented my first experiences not only teaching social studies, but also
teaching an eighth grade inclusion class in an urban middle school. Although these lesson plans
might not as good as my lesson plans of the future will be, I feel they reflect a great deal of work

had to base my unit plan on a chapter in the book that was meant to be an introduction to the

The fundamentals of my philosophy have stuck, such as teaching responsibility and life skills,

students taking notes and participating in lesson through discussion and other activities and

The Eight Stages Of Erikson s Theory Of Identity And Identity
Introduction
In this assignment, I will be focusing on Erikson s theory of psychosocial development. There are
eight stages in which only the fifth stage identity versus role confusion will be discussed. Aspects
such as identity crises, exploration of autonomy whilst developing a sense of self, factors that may
contribute to identity formation as well as the successful/unsuccessful resolution of this particular
stage will be discussed thoroughly. James Marcia s identity statuses will be also highlighted. This
essay will then progress into a case study based on Anna Monroe in connection to the difficulties
she was confronted with such as gender, sexuality, peer pressure, suicide and the experimentation
with different identities she encountered.

Interview Vs Interrogation
The main difference between the two is that an interview is nonaccusatory in nature whereas
interrogations are accusatory. Interviews should be nonaccusatory even if the investigator has clear
reason to believe that the suspect is involved in the offense or has lied to them. Another key
difference is their purpose, the purpose of an interview is to gather information while, the purpose
of an interrogationis to learn the truth. The people who are subjected to each also varies, by that I
mean that an investigator should interview everyone involved, if possible, including victims,
witnesses, and the suspect, while an interrogation should only be conducted when the investigator
is reasonably certain of a person s guilt, meaning only suspects are interrogated. Interviews can be
conducted in various locations and are free flowing and relatively unstructured. Interrogations
should, ideally, be conducted in a controlled environment free from distractions, and involve active
persuasion.

Definitive management of male rectourethral fistula
Historically, there have been many surgical techniques to repair anorectal malformations. These

A Foley catheter is inserted and the patient is placed in prone position with the pelvis elevated. The

How Far A Projectile Travels Based On Its Angle
In this experiment, we are measuring the difference in how far a projectile travels based on its
angle. To use the mathematical model to find this, we must measure the initial velocity and the
angle used to launch the projectile. The independent variables in this case are the initial velocities
and the angles, while the dependent variable is the distance traveled by the projectile.
Not shown above are the cables attaching the projectile launcher to a LabQuest device to allow
the collection of data, which was then connected to a computer to show the data that was
collected, and the hand pump which applies pressure to launch the projectile. The model is not
to scale. This setup was chosen due to the need to measure the distances the projectiles were
launched at during each trial. The marker tape was used to see where the projectile, a small
metal ball, landed so that its distance could be measured easily. The blocker, the case the balls
were kept in, had a foam bottom and was used to prevent the projectiles from bouncing away
from the trial area. The projectile launcher was placed approximately one meter away from the
blocker to allow the projectile to travel as far as needed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Using the LabQuest to measure the velocities the projectiles were launched at helped minimize
error. If the launch speed had been left uncontrolled, the results would have been inconsistent, as the
projectile could have been launched to an unreasonable distance compared to the controlled trials,
and our initial velocities would have been either too high or too low. Keeping our pressure used to
launch at 25 psi and watching the projectile launcher were both critical to achieving consistent

The Dangers Of Animal Abuse
Background Research:
What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on
any animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left
out on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are thrown into shelters. This
became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds.
When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were
often killed because little monetary value was placed on them (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in
the United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter
workers and others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are
living beings just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that authorities
had seized 23 puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self processed animal rescue after they
were found in the rescuer s filthy home. ( No Kill Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means
that an unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe shelter .
The shelter being a dirty home.
Animal abuse awareness is very important because it is showing that harm to an animal is not
okay, it is a crime, and should not be taken lightly. Animals feel too, dogs don t hide what they feel

Lemurs are creatures that are solely found on the island of Madagascar and islands off the east
coast of Africa. These species have diversified greatly into niches because of no competition
from other primates (since other primates are not present on the island). In the documentary,
Spirits of the forest (Lemurs), several species physical and behavioral adaptations are described.
Some of these species include the mouse, ring tailed, sifakas, and Indris lemurs. Lemurs are
described to resemble dog like primates whose eyes are faced forward. This physical
characteristic contributes to binocular vision, which helps lemurs gauge the distance between
trees. They have strong olfactory capabilities compared to other primates and bond by grooming
one another. Ring tailed lemurs are more terrestrial than arboreal. Females are the dominant
gender in their society. They form close troops of about ten to twelve, or even possibly more than
twenty members of each troop. Daily, ringtails spend part of their time on the ground in the dry

wealth and the ability to spend frivolously. The stained glass windows are brightly colored, as
was the clothing of the wealthy during this era. The windows contain a sizeable amount of red
colored glass in particular, which was a very fashionable color at the time and would appear in
many of the period garments of the higher class. A portion of the palace was even built largely of
red brick. During this era there was also an increase in the use of gold. Henry VIII often wore
doublets that had that had cloth of gold lining. This color was present in the paint on the moldings
of the rooms as well as in the tapestries at the palace, which were threaded with gold and silver. The
tapestries are mammoth and were fabricated with a substantial amount of material, similar to the

Evaluating Janet s Vocabulary
Reason for Referral and My Suggestions Janet is experiencing academic difficulty in mathematics
and timed tasks, however her language skills (vocabulary and comprehension) appear to be strong,
yet her parents feel it would be best to evaluate Janet in order to draw on her strengths and help pin
point her limitations. As the psychologist that will be evaluating Janet, I will be administering the
following tests:
Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children IV (WISC IV) o Consists of 15 subtests, 10 of which
are designated as core subtest used in the computation of composite scores and full Scale IQ, and
five of which are designated as supplemental (Gregory, 2010, p.172).

My reasoning for using this theory over another would be the architectural system (hardware) refers
to biologically based properties necessary for information processing, such as memory span and
speed of encoding/decoding information (Gregory, 2010,, p.154). Memory span and speed of
decoding is very important when dealing with mathematical work such as how remember our
multiplication table, which some individuals remember by using mnemonic techniques while still
others struggle. According to Gregory (2010), individuals who are able to use the metacognition
approach to learning tend to have higher performance levels than those individuals that do not use
the metacognition approach. Two Other Theories of Intelligence in Comparison Gardner s original
Theory of Multiple Intelligences consists of three components, seven intelligences, and eight
supporting criteria of what comprises an intelligence. The Three Components include: a definition
of intelligence, a challenge to the notion of a general intelligence (g), and a challenge to the
conviction that g can be reliably measured. (Helding,

Panera Bread Company Essay
A loaf of bread in every arm is the mission statement of Panera Bread Company (Vincelette
Fogarty, 2010, p.1). Panera started as a small bakery under the name Au Bon Pain and grew to one
of the largest fast food service companies in the U.S. In 2008 they had the 5th overall rating in the
restaurant industry. Panera Breadis widely recognized for driving the nationwide trend for specialty
breads (Panera Bread, 2011).

The sale of Au Bon Pain lead to their corporate name change to Panera Bread Company. In the
early 2000 s the company grew through franchise agreements, acquisitions and expansion. In 2010
Shaich stepped down from his roll of CEO to the company s executive chairman to focus on
concept and strategy. Shaich had what he referred to as concept essence the blueprint of what he
wanted to achieve. Concept essence included a focus on artisan bread, quality products and a warm,
and friendly, and comfortable environment (Vincelette Fogarty, 2010, p4.).
Strategy
Panera has three business segments: Company owned bakery cafГ©, franchise operations and fresh
dough operations. The company s growth strategy was to grow their store profits, to increase
transactions and gross profits per transaction, use capital wisely and put into place drivers for
concept differentiations and competitive advantage (Vincelette Fogarty, 2010, p7.). In 2009 while
everyone else was experiencing the hard economic times Panera Bread was sticking to their
strategic plan. Panera did not lay off employees, or worry about closing underperforming stores.
Instead, they continued to add menu items and even increased prices on existing items. This
strategy worked for them and they were able to take advantage of clientele that came from fine
dining. The company has

this dominant position, the master of the house appeared to control the boundaries of his home.

This is significant for the discussion of ritual to note the difference in suburban villa house structure
verses the previously stated traditional Roman house. The Roman Villahas long been epitomized as
an elegant and luxurious refuge, and a haven removed from the commotion of everyday life. Even
in antiquity the time spent at villas were synonymous with pleasure, wealth, and leisure. As the
letters of Cicero and Pliny expressively demonstrate, the aim of every wealthy noble was to have
several villas, or country residences, preferably with immaculate views. This acceptance of more
opulent style of life has been regarded as an acculturation effect resulting from Rome s expanded
rule into the western and eastern Mediterranean, and their direct contact with the Hellenistic world.
Roman aristocrats began to desire lavish surroundings to match their sense of power and
dominance. This new way of life called for opening the house to the landscape and including
gardens within the inhabited space. The Roman Villa s clever orientation of porticos, dining rooms,
and bedrooms to take advantage of particular vistas shows that Roman aristocrats and their
architects consciously included nature and the landscape in their designs to enhance them and add
a new dimension to the inhabitant s enjoyment. As one can see within each Roman dwelling,

The Monkey s Paw by W.W. Jacobs
Would you want three wishes to be granted to you? You probably said yes, but have you ever
thought of anything that could go wrong with your three wishes? In W.W. Jacobs, The Monkey
s Paw , the story is about the White family who received a monkey s paw that allows three wishes
to be made. They find out that this monkey s paw is one big troublemaker that causes havoc and
unrest. Overall, The Monkey s Paw , had very distinct and believable characters and a great plot
that was fraught with danger and suspense. One element I like in The Monkey s Paw was it had
very distinct characters. For instance, Mrs. White s unawareness of what s going to happen really
contributes to the outcome of the story. If it weren t for Mrs. White s naГЇve and unwary
personality, the book probably would have been different as this quote suggests. Wish! she cried in a
strong voice. It s foolish and wicked, said Mr. White. Wish! repeated his wife. (192) When she
had forced Mr. White to make this wish she did not know that Herbert would come back as an
undead corpse. Every mom wants her kid, but she did not realize that bringing her son would
make things even worst. Along with Mrs. White s unwariness, Mr. White s interest in the paw
without a doubt contributes to the developing story. I deem that Mr. White paid no attention to the
warnings Sergeant Morris conveyed. Pitch it in the fire like a sensible man said Morris. Mr. White
shook his head and examined his new possession closely. How

Vanzetti was being tried under Massachusetts felony murder rule, but no direct evidence had been
tied Vanzetti s .38 nickel plated Harrington Richardson five shot revolver to the crime scene. The
only question that arouse with it was that the slain guard apparently had one identical in type and
appearance, but was missing from the crimescene. No witness testified to seeing anyone take the
gun. Additionally, witnesses to the payroll shooting had described Berardelli as reaching for his
gun on his hip when he was cut down by pistol fire from the robbers, but his holster was empty
when the body was found. There were other attempts made at proving he had stolen the gun, but
not proper evidence or complete advance was able to be shown.

The Revision Of The Wedding
For the revision of The Wedding, I used the rubic and the instructor s critiques. I changed the
opening into an attention getter suggested by the instructor. I also chose the perspective of the
main character to add more depth to the poem. I took the dramatic tension and gave more life to
that so I could tie it into the character s perspective. I changed the ending to make it more effective
for this poem using the thirteen ways of looking at revision. For the revision of The Bra, I used the
suggestions of my peers. Several suggestions came up about the title so I changed it to Support

I looked at examples of other writers and the different styles of poetry. I changed the rhythm of this
poem to make it flow easier. I used the guidelines from thirteen ways of looking at revisions.
Now the poem has a solid, rhythmic pattern. For the revision of Dear Father, I used the instructor
s critiques. I added more lines to the poem to make my voice more expressive and relatable to
my life. I removed a few lines so the poem could have a specific tone and rhythm for the reader. I
looked at the poetry website we had to use for a quiz. I was able to read various poems to get a
feel of flow. After reading different poems, I felt more confident in the route I was going with my
revision. The readings from assignments were very helpful in understanding how to write and the
different styles that can be used. I enjoyed the assigned readings, poems, and short stories, because
it gave you a whole different view of writing styles you may have not otherwise been exposed to.
I was able to apply all of this to my revisions. Although the quizzes were challenging, they pulled
out of me thoughts and ideas I didn t know I had in me. It was challenging at first, but eventually
I caught on and gave more effort. So I can say the quizzes helped me to push the envelope for my
revisions. I developed my passion for the art of writing again after reading my

Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening
Robert Frost is known for his layering poetry that includes unique characters for the audience to
enjoy. He, always wants to reach for a more complicated vision, one arrived at after much pain,
much sucking up of passive, reflected beauty (Panini 235). This quote about Frost suggests that
his writing flourishes in the face of uncomfortable subject matter, a quality most ordinary people
do possess. However, Frost is not trying to steer the audience toward his way of thinking, he is
simply telling us that the characters we sense in the text will have bold personalities, also known
as persona. An illustration of this writing strategy is present in Frost s poem, Stopping by Woods
on a Snowy Evening, from the 1928 collection, West Running Brook. Here, Frost creates a good
example of a Rubaiyat stanza that is broken into four sections totaling sixteen lines. From the
moment we meet the narrator, we are aware that his persona is suspicious, from his inspections of
the winter surrounding, to the focus on his odd behavior and the final reminder of a plan. What
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening deeply concerns is found in the fresh behaviors and subtle
hints that the narrator presents to the reader. Due to Frost s skillful delivery of narrator s persona in
this poem, the topic of suicidal thoughts is presented to the audience in an attempt to create
awareness about this life threatening condition. In a strategic move by Frost, he presents us with an

  • 2. Censorship Of Female Nipples On Social Media Censorship of Female Nipples on Social Media Censorship has become a controversial topic on social media platforms. This has been clearly exemplified online with the use of hashtags like #freethenipple. The #freethenipple was spearheaded by activist and filmmaker Lina Esco, which will be explained more thoroughly. The popularity of these social media website has allowed campaigns like #freethenipple to have worldwide success. In addition to this campaign I will be taking a deeper look into Courtney Demone, a transgender women who has tested Instagrams censorship policies regarding the female chest and what Instagram considers female. With these campaigns it is important that social media platforms like Instagram review its policies regarding nudity and the female nipple. Before I look into these campaigns it is important to first understand what censorship is. Censorship is when material ... It has also failed to recognize that baring her nipples doesn t mean freedom for every woman, wrote Courtney Demone (Mashable, 2015). Currently all of the pictures that Demone posted on Instagram revealing her nipple have been removed except for one where she does not refer to herself as a female. However, the same pictures remain on Facebook. When Instagram was asked about why Demone pictures were removed they released a statement saying, they understood the importance of an individual s personal journey (transitioning) and that they do their best to help people express themselves on their sites. But, for women like Demone and others like her who have identified themselves as trans women and use the pronoun she, their pictures are being censored (dna, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Symbolism In The Veldt While money can t buy happiness, it certainly lets you choose your own form of misery (Groucho Marx). Money and pride are two things can prove extremely destructive to a family s relationship with each other. The short story, The Veldt effectively demonstrates how so. This story is the first of an anthropology, The Illustrated Man, written by Ray Bradbury, who is also known for writing the successful book, The Martian Chronicles . In The Veldt , Bradbury proves the theme that pride and money should not get in the way of living through the use of symbolism and dialogue. Bradbury uses symbolism throughout the text. One example is the Happylife Home, a symbol of the pride and money that ruined the lives of the Hadley family. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Use of Magical Realism in Chronicle of a Death Foretold... Use of Magical Realism in Gabriel Garcia Marquez s Chronicle of a Death Foretold Magical realism is clearly present throughout Gabriel Garcia Marquez s novel Chronicle of a Death Foretold. Magical realism is the juxtaposition of realism with fantastic, mythic, and magical elements. A secondary trait was the characteristic attitude of narrators toward the subject matter: they frequently appeared to accept events contrary to the usual operating laws of the universe as natural, even unremarkable. Though the tellers of astonishing tales, they themselves expressed little or no surprise. Obviously the most concise definition of magical realism is that it is the combination of magical and real elements. The magical elements that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pedro saying that the pain in his groin had reached his throat and how he could not sleep for eleven months are signs of magical realism. The narrator said that he believed him when he said these things. He was carrying a suitcase with clothing in order to stay and another just like it with almost two thousand letters that she has written him they were arranged by date in bundles tied with colored ribbons, and they were all unopened. No person writes someone two thousand letters with reply let alone without one. This is ridiculous but we accept it as truth because of Marquez s mastery of magical realism. Chronicle of a Death Foretold has many humorous parts mostly because they are ludicrous. These parts are magical realism because the suspend belief through humor. • 5. The Socio-Cultural Analysis Of India The Socio Cultural Analysis of India Culture is defined as The arts, beliefs, customs, institutions, and other products of human work and thought considered as a unit, especially with regard to a particular time or social group by American Heritage Dictionary of the English Language (2011). Also, the Dictionary of Military and Associated Terms (2005) defines culture as A feature of the terrain that has been constructed by man. Included are such items as roads, buildings, and canals; boundary lines; and, in a broad sense, all names and legends on a map . In a nutshell, culture is everything that makes up the basic ways of life. Culture is comprised of five basic characteristics. Culture is learned, shared, symbolic, integrated, and dynamic (Bueno, 2012). This means that aspects of culture are spread by social interactions such as trade, language and other communication technologies. Some of the more common forms of communication technologies and language are movies, television shows, literature, arts, and local history. Symbolism is similar to the learned and shared aspects in many ways. Language, literature, and the arts are all major ways in which the symbolism of a specific culture is spread. The integration of culture is based on pattern. The specific dimensions of social life create social norms that are followed. The economy and politics are two of the more prevalent forms of social life that lead to the patterns of integration. Lastly, there is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. An Ideal Weight Of The Body Mass Index There are many people struggling to keep their weight ideal. An ideal weight according to the medical definition is the weight that provides an individual with lowest health risks (Wicks, 2016). There are many different ways to figure out if an individual is considered to have ideal weight; one of which is by measuring the body mass index, also known as BMI (Wicks, 2016). BMI can be measured by weight in kilogram divided by height in meters squared. Ideal weight is above 18.5 and below 24.5, anything below 18.5 is consider underweight and above 24.5 is considered overweight (Wicks, 2016). Although BMI can be easily calculated, it does have some concerns regarding the fact that it does not take into consideration body composition and distribution (Wicks, 2016). To reach their ideal healthy weight some individuals turn to changing their diet while others seem to turn to exercising. Those who turn to changing their diet take kilocalories into consideration. Kilocalories is the unit used for measurement of energy, and to determine one s weight, energy balance equation is used; this equation is energy input minus energy output equals either positive or negative energy (Wicks, 2016). People who are overweight consider these kilocalories in everything they eat and drink. Although there is more than one way to achieve a healthy weight, exercising seems to be more beneficial for various reasons. • 10. Analysis Of Miss Lonelyhearts And The Day Of The Locust In Miss Lonelyhearts and The Day of the Locust, each character experiences suffering, and in each case the suffering is ridiculed. Schadenfreude is a basic human experience; human beings do find humor in other s misfortune. Society is so accustomed to the feeling of schadenfreude that hardly anyone knows exactly where it comes from or how distasteful it is. Society feeds schadenfreude of physical pain by letting it reside throughout comedy. Almost every comedic movie, show, song, sketch or any other form of entertainment is cluttered with people being hurt. Harry Greener s clown show in The Day of the Locust is completely centered around his pain. When he stands up, the audience, which failed to laugh at his joke, laughs at his limp, so he continues lame for the rest of the act, (West, The Day 78). The entire comedy genre thrives off of schadenfreude. Perhaps this is because the audience knows that the subject is not truly hurt, so it becomes funny to see people such as Curly, Moe, and Larry beat each other. Perhaps it is because people use laughter as a shield against pain. When people see pain they laugh to make it seem that it did not actually hurt. It is a product of empathy for him who was hurt. Laughter serves to camouflage embarrassment which is included in empathy. The ways in which characters receive injuries are usually embarrassing, and the audience feels the embarrassment causing them to laugh. Schadenfreude is embedded in human emotions such as envy, ... The Chinese Revolution of 1949 The Chinese revolution of 1949 Introduction The declaration of the People s Republic of China (PRC) in 1949 by the Chinese Communist leader Mao Zedong signified a revolution in China that brought an end to the costliest civil war in Chinese history between the Nationalist Party or Kuomintang (KMT) and the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) that had lasted a period of 22 years from 1927 to 1949. The Chinese revolution of 1949 signified the beginning of an era of Communist Chinese rule ushered in by the popular Chinese Communist Party at the expense of the Nationalist Party. Anorexia [an eating disorder where one starves themselves] is something I will have to deal with for the rest of my life, however, and truly getting over it is a long process (Cappelle). The approaches he used to train Victor impact this area of study, even today. Eugene Bleuler furthered this field when he discovered patients that were seen to be very self centered. These children had been labeled as schizophrenic, but he labeled as autistic because they were people that lived in a different type of reality. I decided to take Basics of Catholic Faith course in order to have an understanding of the Catholic Church and their teachings. In today s world, there are many religions that teach different aspects of God. Catholic teachings offer a lot of moral and spiritual guidance that other Churches narrows down. Catholic Churchsays Jesus is good news, and Catholic faith means graciously accepting that good news and sharing it with others. Holy Communion, Baptism, Confession etc., are the times we feel closer to God s presence, therefore; Sacraments are like thin places, are there to remind us of God. Brothers and sisters, let us acknowledge our sins, and so prepare ourselves to celebrate the sacred mysteries is how the Eucharistic liturgy starts, which is basically taking us into a thin place. These ceremonies and sacraments take us way closer to God and help us enter into a sacred mystery where we encounter Christ. Every sacrament is a window through which the light of Christ can shine into our darkness and through these, Christ comes into our lives. After learning about this in lecture, and having a better understanding of thin places , I am able to feel God s presence more while taking Holy Communion, which I would gladly say I am that person who walks into Church, feeling God s presence by entering onto the Holy ground. I feel a connection so strong at that place that I never felt anywhere else. I feel like God is listening whenever I am there. I get a serene feeling that renews my faith that we are indeed connected to God and such places do help us feel that. To understand how these styles and perceptions can impact nursing care; this paper will examine communication style and time orientation of the Mexican culture, and to increase awareness to these issues to guide nurses to provide culturally educated care. The Mexican American people are among the fastest growing minority population in the United States (Eggenberger, Grassley, Restrepo, 2017). By educating nurses on the culture of the Mexican people; nurses can then provide a more competent and appropriate care to these clients. It is often widely thought that the people of Mexico tend to be animated, or heated in their communication styles. For those either unfamiliar with this group of people or lacking knowledge about this group, it can be seen as being out of control. Those of the population who were not raised in the United States may even avoid eye contact with authority figures; which nurses can be seen as, or when they are in awkward situations. This means that nurses should understand that they are not shy nor are they avoiding eye contact to lie, but, rather to be seen as humble or to avoid awkwardness (Luis Pajewski, 2017) . Leading the pack as America s fastest growing network (*) is none other than T Mobile. Of course it was not always this way. With the on boarding of CEO John Legere in 2012, the then small telecommunications company, skyrocketed to 73 million customers(Feloni, 2016). In 1994 T Mobile, with the name of VoiceStream Wireless PCS, was established by John Stanton. Seven years later it was purchased by Deutsche Telekom AG for a whopping $39 million and rebranded T Mobile US the following year. In 2011 T Mobile was in financial trouble and was looking to be purchased by AT T. The deal was struck down by the US Department of Justice because it would lessen the competition in the market. In early 2012 John Legere became CEO and the rebranding started. T Mobile then went on to acquire MetroPCS Communication in October 2012 to broaden their customer base and increase prepaid service revenue. John Legere then introduced contract free pricing in 2013 which then forced the big guys (Verizon and AT T) to follow suit. Due to their success, Sprint attempted to acquire the company in 2013 but abandoned the idea due to the fact that it was unlikely to be approved by the government (Maynes, 2017). At times there were also conflicts between colonising powers over territory that would consequently be transferred from one to the other. The consequence of changes to inheritance law was that, while in Britain a widow s choice was to either keep the meager inheritance she got and enjoy her independence or remarry and share the money with her new husband, in India things got far more complicated because of deep seated notions of marriage and widowhood that hinged on unequivocally Indian norms, values and culture. If a woman were to receive money under the change in law there would be significant resentment from her late husband s family. The widow had a high chance of still living with his family resulting in a cloistered but not sheltered existence. Sexuality and autonomy were often controlled by the families based on notions of female sexuality and as a way of preserving caste and offspring. Despite this Indian women were often sexually active, although more often than not, there was a lack of consent. Moreover, remarriage was not a viable option for most widows as the deeply rooted Hinduism in India promoted notions of ascetic widowhood . To use the mathematical model to find this, we must measure the initial velocity and the angle used to launch the projectile. The independent variables in this case are the initial velocities and the angles, while the dependent variable is the distance traveled by the projectile. Not shown above are the cables attaching the projectile launcher to a LabQuest device to allow the collection of data, which was then connected to a computer to show the data that was collected, and the hand pump which applies pressure to launch the projectile. The model is not to scale. This setup was chosen due to the need to measure the distances the projectiles were launched at during each trial. The marker tape was used to see where the projectile, a small metal ball, landed so that its distance could be measured easily. • 38. The Dangers Of Animal Abuse Background Research: What is animal abuse? For starters, animal abuse is when a person inflicts suffering or harm on any animal. Most people, all over the world own an animal; but there are still far more animals left out on the street. Homeless animals are either left out on the streets or are thrown into shelters. This became a problem because not all animals are domesticated. Animal shelters began as pounds. When the system began to be used to impound wandering dogs and cats, these animals were often killed because little monetary value was placed on them (Lila Miller, Animal sheltering in the United States: Yesterday, today, and tomorrow, 1) . This issue persists because shelter workers and others truly believe that an animal life has no value, but that is not true; animals are living beings just like humans with brains, hearts, and bones. A reported case was that authorities had seized 23 puppies, 11 cats, and four adult dogs from a self processed animal rescue after they were found in the rescuer s filthy home. ( No Kill Label Slowly Killing Animals, 3). This means that an unauthorized person hoarded many animals and forced the animals into an unsafe shelter . The shelter being a dirty home. These species have diversified greatly into niches because of no competition from other primates (since other primates are not present on the island). In the documentary, Spirits of the forest (Lemurs), several species physical and behavioral adaptations are described. Some of these species include the mouse, ring tailed, sifakas, and Indris lemurs. Lemurs are described to resemble dog like primates whose eyes are faced forward. This physical characteristic contributes to binocular vision, which helps lemurs gauge the distance between trees. They have strong olfactory capabilities compared to other primates and bond by grooming one another. Ring tailed lemurs are more terrestrial than arboreal. Females are the dominant gender in their society. They form close troops of about ten to twelve, or even possibly more than twenty members of each troop. Daily, ringtails spend part of their time on the ground in the dry forest and bush. Their physical features include long tails with white and black rings. Their tails are held high which helps hold the troop together. Ringtails spend a part of their time on the ground eating leaves, flowers, and small invertebrates to... Equiano exhibited no bitterness or anger, revealing a moral superiority over his tormentors that spoke volumes about the potential of the human spirit. This is significant for the discussion of ritual to note the difference in suburban villa house structure verses the previously stated traditional Roman house. The Roman Villahas long been epitomized as an elegant and luxurious refuge, and a haven removed from the commotion of everyday life. Even in antiquity the time spent at villas were synonymous with pleasure, wealth, and leisure. As the letters of Cicero and Pliny expressively demonstrate, the aim of every wealthy noble was to have several villas, or country residences, preferably with immaculate views. This acceptance of more opulent style of life has been regarded as an acculturation effect resulting from Rome s expanded rule into the western and eastern Mediterranean, and their direct contact with the Hellenistic world. Roman aristocrats began to desire lavish surroundings to match their sense of power and dominance. This new way of life called for opening the house to the landscape and including gardens within the inhabited space. The Roman Villa s clever orientation of porticos, dining rooms, and bedrooms to take advantage of particular vistas shows that Roman aristocrats and their architects consciously included nature and the landscape in their designs to enhance them and add a new dimension to the inhabitant s enjoyment. In W.W. Jacobs, The Monkey s Paw , the story is about the White family who received a monkey s paw that allows three wishes to be made. They find out that this monkey s paw is one big troublemaker that causes havoc and unrest. Overall, The Monkey s Paw , had very distinct and believable characters and a great plot that was fraught with danger and suspense. One element I like in The Monkey s Paw was it had very distinct characters. For instance, Mrs. White s unawareness of what s going to happen really contributes to the outcome of the story. If it weren t for Mrs. White s naГЇve and unwary personality, the book probably would have been different as this quote suggests. Wish! she cried in a strong voice. It s foolish and wicked, said Mr. White. Wish! repeated his wife. (192) When she had forced Mr. White to make this wish she did not know that Herbert would come back as an undead corpse. Every mom wants her kid, but she did not realize that bringing her son would make things even worst. Along with Mrs. White s unwariness, Mr. White s interest in the paw without a doubt contributes to the developing story. I deem that Mr. White paid no attention to the warnings Sergeant Morris conveyed. Pitch it in the fire like a sensible man said Morris. Mr. White shook his head and examined his new possession closely. How ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 54. Stopping By Woods On A Snowy Evening Robert Frost is known for his layering poetry that includes unique characters for the audience to enjoy. He, always wants to reach for a more complicated vision, one arrived at after much pain, much sucking up of passive, reflected beauty (Panini 235). This quote about Frost suggests that his writing flourishes in the face of uncomfortable subject matter, a quality most ordinary people do possess. However, Frost is not trying to steer the audience toward his way of thinking, he is simply telling us that the characters we sense in the text will have bold personalities, also known as persona. An illustration of this writing strategy is present in Frost s poem, Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening, from the 1928 collection, West Running Brook. Here, Frost creates a good example of a Rubaiyat stanza that is broken into four sections totaling sixteen lines. From the moment we meet the narrator, we are aware that his persona is suspicious, from his inspections of the winter surrounding, to the focus on his odd behavior and the final reminder of a plan. What Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening deeply concerns is found in the fresh behaviors and subtle hints that the narrator presents to the reader.
