I.Introduction:
A.Relate to self and audience: I love story. Matter of facts, I would love to get to know each of
you and listen to your personal stories. Especially, I enjoy listening to struggles related stories.
Every day, each of us walks to class and acts normal , though we might carry something deep inside.
Something that is too dark which we cannot let others know. From time to time, we keep carrying
that wound. It hurts us every now and then, but we say nothing.
Transition: For today, I am going to show you mine.
B.Attention Getter: I was bullied for seven years straight. During the first five years, the end of
middle school and entire high school, I was being targeted physically and emotionally. I tried to

Therefore, oxytocin is known as cardio protective as it keeps the heart healthy (Hamilton, 2011).
Transition: What I m trying to say here is that all of these complicated processes happened because
of giving and receiving kindness. It actually improves the soul of our heart, but also its physical
well beings.
B.Main point II: Kindness reflects leadership quality because it teaches leader how to lead and take
initiatives.
Orly Wahba, CEO of Life Vest Inside, once said that a small act of kindness shows that we have a
power to make a change like a leader (TED Talk, 2014). It also demonstrates that we push ourselves
out of our comfort zone and take actions to help others (TED Talk, 2014).
She emphasizes that our kind actions, big or small, prove that we want to take charge and make
the world become a better place (TED Talk, 2014). And that, in her opinion (also mine), kindness
is such a simple, valuable quality which demonstrates a powerful role, a leader (TED Talk, 2014).
Transition: I want to you take these two points and understand them through my story and my
perception.
Need + Satisfaction + Visualization: Imagine this, you, in my body, wake up and ready to start
your day. However, before you get out of bed, you have to look real quick at social media. Right
that moment, you are flooded with hatred direct messages from people in your past. They call you

Jean Paul Sartre No Exit Existentialism Essay
It was in the 19 Th centuries where a French writer Jean Paul Sartre who popularized the concept
of existentialism this was during his play No Exit. Sartre explained Existentialism, which states
on the belief that life has no meaning. Each is separate from all other individuals, so each person
has the power to place himself in the position he wishes, that every individual is responsible for
his actions. (Reynolds)People should be responsible for themselves rather than make excuses for
the occurrences in their life, the belief that humans have free will. The play was published in
1943. In his plays introduces us to three main characters that are locked up in a room in hell. The
first character is an assassinated journalist by the name of Garcia, believes that he is in hell for
mistreating his wife. The second character is a postal worker and seduces her fellow women by the
name Inez. The final character murdered her child which led to the child s father committing suicide
is called Estelle. The three characters in the play are intelligent and can figure out the situation
none of the characters has a clue about the other although locked up in this room each character
can be able to see what is happening on earth they can see their family and friends. These
characters are locked up in eternity where they shall spend their time with people they dislike.
In the room there are no mirrors or windows, bathrooms no one can eat, lights are always on, and

Effects Of Ww1 On The Western Front
WW1 on the western front
In the trenches of ww1 it was hard for all soldiers, so during Christmas day of 1914 along the
western front the two sides joined in no mans land to celebrate Christmas. Both sides of the war
had yet been in a full out battle with each other and that gave them a better mind set to have peace
but even though Paul from all quiet on the western front had been in multiple battles, with the
German army, he still had compassion and still saw the good in life. During the war Paul was
determined to help his friends and work with his buddys even if it meant doing some odd stuff to
help them and food was a big problem so they had to hunt down a lot of food and sometimes an
animal such as when he had worked with Kat to steal

The Cultural Experience Of The Biennale Of Sydney
If each era posits its own view of reality, what is ours? Stephanie Rosenthal
Sydney s 20th Biennale is entitled The future is already here it s just not evenly distributed, where it
explores the ideas about technology, virtual reality, science fiction and the ways in which
individuals and communities are living in an increasingly digital and technological world. This
theme was inspired by an American Canadian science fiction writer. The artistic director, Stephanie
Rosenthal investigates the relationship we have with technology and the power it holds to transport
us to another world allowing new concepts and opportunities to arise however it also removes us
from our environment and physical bodies.
The aims of the Biennale of Sydney is to allow inventive and creative experimentation to be
explored and to challenge the norms of predictable artmaking practices. The Biennale advocates a
real cultural experience through combining the many different artworks created by many different
artists instigating a global conversation about art. The Biennale occurs every two years in Sydney
and brings such a cultural experience to the Sydney.
The 20th Biennale of Sydney is presented in seven main venues around Sydney and each location
is known as an embassy , where they display different ideas however are connected. Having the
exhibition spread over these venues is beneficial giving the audience variety in choice and a
different experience depending on the venue. The

Passivity and Impotence in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein
Passivity and Impotence in Frankenstein
There are many ways to interpret a literary text, especially one as laden with ethical questions and
literary allegory as Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Shelley s complex family dynamic her conflicted
relationship with her father, her need to please her mentor/husband with literary success, her infants
deaths enhances the intrigue of the novel and suggests multiple themes and layered meanings. One
discernible theme in Frankenstein is illuminated by the bold line that separates male character from
female: The men inevitably fail the women whom they claim to love, but the women are
maddeningly passive, seemingly blind to the men s inadequacies. Here, however, this passivity is a

Though weak, she has enough intelligence to realize which choice will serve her better.
Elizabeth s lack of force and tepid presence in the book Victor s descriptions of her generous
nature notwithstanding mirror Victor s weaknesses. His follies are the meat of Frankenstein, and
though his initial failure to study the right books can be blamed on Alfonse, the rest of the book s
mayhem lays squarely on his shoulders.
Victor glorifies his own childhood and his parents responsibility for his happiness when he
describes it, With this deep consciousness of what they owed towards the being to which they had
given life...I received a lesson of patience, of charity, and of self control... (33).
Unfortunately, he absorbs none of their parental talent or compassion. When Victor creates the
hideous Monster, he abandons the Monster and essentially abandons the world on which the
Monster is unleashed. Victor s failure as a father to the Monster is the second link in the chain of
death swung by the Monster at William, Clerval, Elizabeth, and by default, Justine.
Like Alfonse, Victor excels at female worship but falls a step beyond Alfonse s well meaning
ineptitude into a deep crag of impotence. Throughout the novel, Victor speaks of Elizabeth in

Drinking Age Persuasive Speech
The world is changing every day and new situations are popping up that need to be fixed.
Teenagers are already at greater risks at being exposed to peer pressure, drinking, smoking,
violence, risky behaviors and etc.. We are the world today and we are trying to make a change but
how will a changed be inflicted if people want to lower the minimum legal drinking age(MLDA). I
understand that young people like to party, turn up, and get lit(littttt) but in reality it s not all about
that so I m here to persuade you that the minimum legal drinking age shouldn t be lowered.
All fifty states minimum drinking age is twenty one but there are exceptions based on state by state
bases and certain necessary essentials. There are a lot of proponents and opponents of lowering the
minimum legal drinking age from 21 because teenage drinking is occurring so heavily so there
might be rules to push this underage drinking or binge drinking into controlled environments or
places and private environments that are secured. If these new rules are established this can lead to
drinking more from young teens, unhealthy behaviors and life endangering behaviors by teens. The
alcohol prohibition was created under the 21st amendment on December 5,1933 to set up
regulations on alcoholic consumption but there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore that can mean that drinking should be similarly restricted to 21 years of age still due
to the responsibilities required to self and others. Analysis still help support and prove that
higher legal drinking ages were associated with lower alcohol consumption. MLDA 21 Laws
reduces the number of underage drinkers. There are studies that help trace and indicate that when
the drinking age is 21, those who are younger than 21 drink less and continue to drink less during
their early 20 s. It was also said that youth who tend to wait to drink until they are 21 years of age
tend to drink less as

Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism Essay
Beowulf, Christianity, and Paganism
The poem Beowulf is a renowned story that displays many different surroundings and religious
beliefs. Some may believe the story of Beowulf portrays pagan beliefs or customs and others
believe that the poem is more in agreement with Christian ethnicity. The author of Beowulf uses
both Christian and pagan elements in the poem to define the heroic warrior, Beowulf, and the evil
dragons. After reading Beowulf the author clearly shows how Beowulf is a man who is filled with
Christian customs and is willing to die and defend the world against evil using the help of God.
Beowulf s courage and faith can be seen throughout the entire poem. The author shows what the
other characters thought of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This quote clearly shows the reference back to the Bible. It explains how the author uses
Grendel as one of the offspring s of Cain whom killed his brother Abel. Beowulf was the one
warrior who was able to stop Grendel. Beowulf travels to Grendel s lair in the marsh with some
of his finest soldiers. When Beowulf and his men met Grendel the weapons of Beowulf s army
became dull from a spell. The weapons could not scratch the skin of Grendel. Beowulf used the
faith from God to defeat Grendel without the use of weapons. Beowulf was able to hold onto
Grendel s arms until they were ripped off. Beowulf put his life at risk by using his courage and
faith to overcome Grendel.
Another evil that Beowulf was able to concur using the help of God was Grendel s Mother.
Grendel s Mother was furious about the death of her only son and came into Hrothgar s kingdom.
While in the kingdom she captured one of Hrothgar s men and devoured him. Before Grendel s
mother flees she takes the arm of her son which is hanging in the hall as a trophy. Beowulf then
takes his men along with Hrothgar s to the cave in which Grendel s mother lives. The author
shows Beowulf s courage in lines 607 611, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought

The Two Arrangements of Water Quality Parameters
There are two arrangements of water quality parameters:
пѓјConservative
пѓјNon conservative Conservative parameters of water which are hardness, alkalinity, salinity, and
temperature are not affected significantly by activities of microorganisms. [30] Ammonia, nitrate,
nitrite, total nitrogen, pH, phosphorous, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total dissolved solids,
chemical oxygen demand, and oxygen reduction potential which are affected by biological activity
are considered as non conservative. [30] [31] Now let s discuss the crucial water quality parameters
taking into consideration the importance of monitoring them in an aquaculture setting for reusing
them for irrigating processes. So at first nitrogen cycle must be discussed. [30] [32] The nitrogen
cycle can be described as follows. Figure 1 The graph of nitrogen cycle

Nitrogen fixation is the process by which bacteria, aerobic, anaerobic and photosynthetic transform
atmospheric nitrogen to organic nitrogen. [30] Many organisms such as plants also rely on this
process for survival. Ammonification is the process by which organic nitrogen is converted to
nitrogenous ammonia by heterotrophic microorganisms. Nitrification is the biological conversion
of ammonia to nitrate. Nitrifies carry out this process and can be autotrophic

Importance Of The Opera Rinaldo
The opera Rinaldo by George Fredric Handel is one of Handel s earliest most successful works. This
case study aims at discovering more about the different contexts of the opera, the structure, and the
performances of Rinaldo. The context around Rinaldo is important as it can examine the
environment around the time of the composition and the relationship that Handel had with the
patrons, performers, librettists, audiences, and publishers. The compositional elements that Handel
used in Rinaldo as well as the significance of the genre and the relationship between musicand its
text setting is crucial to the discussion and discovery of the structure through the music. Through

In 1706, Handel travelled to Rome but at the time, the church had banned opera in some states so
he wrote sacred music for the church. It was in 1707 and 1709 that Handel wrote his fifth opera
Rodrigo and sixth opera Agrippina respectively. In 1710 on his way to London, after becoming
Kapellmeister to Prince George, Handel wrote his 7th opera, Rinaldo which premiered in 1711
on the 24th of February (Schoelcher, 1857). Handel wrote Rinaldo within a fortnight with the
directional aid of Aaron Hill who was the director of the Haymarket Theatre at the time. They
performed the opera 15 nights in a row which back then, was a rare occurrence (Lang, 2012).
These moments may have lead Handel to write the opera Rinaldo in 1711.
George Fredric Handel s librettist for the opera Rinaldo was Aaron Hill but Giacomo Rossi
translated it into Italian (Rodina, 2008). Rossi, has been universally condemned as a miserable
poetaster. However, the opera Rinaldo was Rossi s first libretto for Handel. Rossi does defend
himself for the pace that he had to write the lyrics for the opera. Mr. Hendel, the Orpheus of our
century, while composing the music, scarcely gave me time to write, and to my great wonder I
saw an entire opera put to music by that surprising genius, with the greatest degree of perfection...
Handel was often in front of the librettist when writing the music to any opera but especially for
Rinaldo. He was so impatient when waiting for lyrics from the librettist that

6.5. Pre emulsifying extrusion in lipid nanoparticle preparation
Solid lipid nanoparticles and nanostructure lipid carriers are among the most explored nano sized
drug delivery systems. They posses potentials for myriad applications such as targeting DD,
controlled DD, absorption enhancement (MГјller, Radtke et al. 2002). They can be formulated in
most of treatment routes, from topical dosage forms to brain drug delivery. Because of their
lipophilic nature, lipid nanoparticles have great potential to incorporate sparingly soluble APIs to
modulate therapies. Lipid nanoparticles preparation can be categorized into solvent based or non
solvent techniques (Mehnert and Mäder 2001). The later technique can further be divided into two

2015) to enhance its bioavailability. By choosing proper processing parameters, a solid lipid
dispersion with particle size below 200 nm could be obtained that significantly enhanced the oral
bioavailability of fenofibrate compared to a commercial product. In another study, a conjugation
of a sonication probe with an extruder was used to fabricate a nanostructure lipid carrier loaded
with lidocaine (Bhagurkar, Repka et al. 2016). The lipid nanosuspension was formulated to a
topical gel for cutaneous pain management. The drug release profile of the dosage form was
governed by drug release from the lipid matrix, and thus it was claimed to have extended release
effect. Even though extrusion emulsifying effect is not as powerful as that of high speed
homogenizers or colloidal mills, it poses a potential to integrate into a continuous manufacturing
process.
6.6. Pharmaceutical reactive extrusion
The term of reactive extrusion has been used in polymer science for several decades. It is
considered as an efficient mean for continuous polymerization, chemical modification of polymers,
as well as combination of chemical synthesis and shaping polymer products (Tzoganakis 1989). Hot
melt extrusion offers heat and microscale homogenizing simultaneously, thus it has a potential to
melt/soften compounds and blend them together at molecular level. It enables molecular contacts,
and thus chemical reactions without solvent needed. Therefore, melt extrusion is viewed as an
environment

Graphene Structure, Physical Properties, And Fabrication...
1.3 Graphene structure, physical properties, and fabrication methods
1.3.1 Graphene structure
In 2004, two scientists prepared the graphene, a single planar layer of graphite, which has a double
carbon atoms bonds. Each carbon atom joins itself with three atoms by strong Пѓ covalent bonds,
the strong carbon carbon bonding granted graphene a rigid structure. With four valence electrons,
each carbon atom can contribute one unbounded electron to form ПЂ bonds above the plane of the
carbon sheet. Graphene layers arrange as hexagons and every hexagon is completely surrounded by
other hexagons that are packed in a honeycomb crystal lattice as shown in Figure ‎1 3. Their
thickness is about one atom thick [6] and their bond length in the range of 0.142nm[7][8]. Thus, in
1 mm thick graphite, there are about 3 million graphene sheets[9]. The 2010 Nobel Prize in
physics has been awarded to the two scientists: Andre Geim and Konstantin Novoselov from
University of Manchester (UK) for their research in graphene discovery. Also, the surface area of
the single sheet is 2630 m2/g [10].
This sheet is the most interesting form of carbon allotropes which promises to be a super material
due to its super properties. Graphene is the mother of other carbon allotropes as shown in Figure

electrostatic force [12].

Into The Wild Transcendentalism
On September 6, 1992, a group of moose hunters discovered the remains of Chris McCandless
body, which, through abject starvation, had withered and decayed in the unforgiving Alaskan bush.
Upon discovery, Chris corpse became a symbol of misguided passions and misinterpreted values
and inspired many to explore and document his story of demise. In Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild,
the story of Chris, attempting to achieve ultimate freedom and independence is told. On this
journey, it is evident that Chris McCandless shunning of society was unjustified because he took
the transcendentalist ideas expressed in Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Ralph Waldo Emerson
s
Self Reliance and radically misinterpreted them. Because of his analytical error, McCandless was
unable to attain freedom and independence, despite his support for these values; egotism overcame
individualism, and McCandless hubris and extreme risk taking resulted in foolish isolationism and
rendered his journey useless. One of the central tenets of transcendentalism is the aspiration of
freedom and the desire to pursue a life of individualism. This is described in Self Reliance, where
Ralph Waldo Emerson states ... that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide... (1). Both envy and
imitation are parts of collectivism, and as such, cannot be well integrated into the philosophy of
transcendentalism, which has a deep contempt for society. At first, McCandless seems to satisfy the
mandate of individualistic pursuit,

coincidental or was it planned? Also, while on the subject of videos, in the video To Live and Die

Flight Operations Into Known Icing
Flight Operations into Known Icing

Abstract
During this research paper we will be looking into the definition of flight into known icing as it s
described by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) with special emphasis on the word known
or forecasted icing as a legal requirement for both pilots and aircraft. We will look at aircraft
systems designed for such operations and we will be analyzing the misunderstanding that many
pilots have about this issue. One of the biggest misconceptions is that an aircraft equipped with
deicing equipment makes it rated for known icing conditions. We will briefly look at the regulations
on aircraft certifications and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will be focusing more on airborne anti icing as part of Aircrafts rating for flight and the
known icing conditions as defined by the FAA. While ground removal of ice is not the focus FAR
135.227 and FAR 91.527 state.
No pilot may take off an aircraft that has frost, ice, or snow adhering to any rotor blade, propeller,
windshield, stabilizing or control surface; to a power plant installation; or to an airspeed, altimeter,
rate of climb, flight attitude instrument system, or wing, except that takeoffs may be made with
frost under the wing in the area of the fuel tanks if authorized by the FAA. (FAR, 2016)
There are always exceptions to this rule including meeting training requirements of FAR 135.341
and meeting additional criteria outlined in FAR 135.227.
There are several deferent types of ground de icing including manual removal and the use of
chemicals or solutions (some heated) to remove ice and snow or preventing ice buildup on the
aircraft during the takeoff phase of flight. This is only to protect the aircraft until the aircrafts own
anti icing equipment can become effective. Some good sources for ground deicing processes and
procedures can be found in Aeronautics Information Manual (AIM) under section 7 5 14. As well
as the FAA s Standardized International Aircraft Ground Deice Program (SIAGDP) (2010).
Defining Icing Conditions The definition of known icing conditions can be found in the (AIM, 7 1

stocks in fish and marine mammals from the 11th century onwards (Roberts, 2009). Ocean
overfishing is defined as catching fish from sea at rates too high thus lead to depletion of the stock
of fish. As today, there are almost 90 percent of fish population have been depleted by humans
worldwide because fish is considered as a sources of food. In 2010, 148 million tonnes of fish from
fisheries and aquaculture were used by the world and 86 percent of which was used as food for
people (Katz, 2012). Besides, according to the non profit group New Economics Foundation,
Ireland, Spain, and Sweden were the worst offenders. Based on a

Erlenmeyer Foils
Procedure: First, 350 mL of water in a 600 mL beaker was heated up to a boil on a hot plate,
While the water was heating, a clean 125 mL Erlenmeyer flask was dried out with a paper towel.
Then, a piece of aluminum foil and a rubber band were placed on top of the Erlenmeyer flask.
The flask, aluminum foil and rubber band were weighed on the balance. Their mass, in grams,
was recorded on a piece of paper. Next. the aluminum foil and the rubber band were taken off of
the Erlenmeyer flask. 2 mL of the unknown liquid was poured into the flask. The aluminum foil
was placed back on the mouth of the Erlenmeyer flask and loosely folded around its neck to make
an aluminum foil cap. The rubber band was used to tightly secure the foil cap in place. Using

Spinal Cord Protection Strategies For Thoracic...
Spinal Cord Protection Strategies for Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair With an incidence
once as high as 40%, spinal cord paralysis in thoracoabominal procedures has declined, however,
still remains a devastating threat post surgery (Roman, Grewal, Taylor, Grigore, 2014). Modern
techniques for repair of thoracic aneurysms and dissections include an open incision with
extracorporeal bypass and aortic clamping. This surgical procedure puts patients at great risk for
spinal cord paralysis. Open procedures required meticulous reimplantation of intercostal blood
vessels, deep hypothermic cardiac arrest, epidural cooling, and various pharmacologic
interventions. As surgical technique has advanced to percutaneous endograft repair, most of these
techniques are no longer needed. However, the incidence of paralysis is still prevalent in patients
having a TEVAR procedure. Naloxone, an opioid antagonist, has been studied as an additional
pharmacologic adjunct in the prevention of spinal cord paralysis (Roman, Grewal, Taylor,
Grigore, 2014). Spinal cord injury can be multifactorial and a review of the literature indicates for
patients undergoing endovascular repair of thoracic aneurysms, the use of multiple spinal cord
protection strategies collectively reduce spinal cord injury compared to the use of naloxone as a
primary measure.

Hunter V Moss Criticisms Essay
Certainty of subject matter and the critcisms of hunter v moss
When creating an express trust knight and knight articulated that there must be certainty of subject
matter, certainty of intention and certainty of objects.
Certainty of subject matter is where there must be an identification of the trust property and
certainty as to whom is which part of the trust property to be held. In relation to uncertainty of
beneficial interests, the trust will fail where the method of distribution is stipulated by the sethlow
but cannot take effect (Boyce v Boyce). However the trust will not fail where the method of
distribution is not stipulated by the sethlow leaving the court to intervene (re napton). If there is an

However in Re Golay the court looked at the tester s intention . To deduce what reasonable income

Oliver J articulated the orthodox approach or rule in re London wine where property must be
segregated form a lager mass of similar property for there to be a valid trust he said To create a
trust it must be possible to ascertain with certainty not only what the interest of the beneficiary is
to be but to what property it is to attach. The mere declaration that a given number of animals out
of the flock would be held on trust would not create a trust .
This approach was followed in re Goldcorp which affirmed that property must be separately
identifiable before it can be held on a valid trust.
The contention arose with Hunter v Moss which did not follow the orthodox approach where
Hunter was entitled 50 out of moss s 1000 shares. Under the Goldcorp rule there would be no
trust because the property was not separated however Dillon J said there was a valid trust. The
rationale for this controversial decision was that it would have made no difference which 50
shares would have been given because they were all identical. So here there was no need to
segregate the property if it was intangible.
The problem with this case is that Dillon is giving the trustee of the will who only has legal title
subject to the terms of the trust an executor status, i.e. putting him in the shoes of the sethlow. This
is a problem because the executor acquires legal

All Saints Day in Guatemala
All Saints Day, which is celebrated in Guatemala, is a day of celebrating loved ones who have
died. This day, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, originated in Mexico centuries ago. 1
It is a day of joy and not of sorrow. This is the when people pray for help from the saints who
have passed on. They also pray that those who have died without becoming saints will become
saints. Fancy decorations, food, and fun are all joined together to help celebrate this day in
Guatemala. The home is one of the places that is beautifully decorated. An alter is set up with
pictures of their loved ones, candles, flowers, bread, fruit, atole and aguardiente. Atole is a drink
that is made of corn flour and water; while aguardiente is liquor made from sugar cane. The
people continue their rituals and before dawn they place flowers above the doors of their home
to welcome the spirits of their deceased loved ones.2 This adds to the beautiful decor of the
home. Next, comes the decorations at the grave side. People clean the tomb stones, paint them,
and then decorate them with many colorful flowers. Flowers like lilies, chrysanthemums, and
flor de muerto (a strong marigold) are used to decorate.3 At the tops of the graves are placed
wax paper wreaths.4 The cemeteries on this day turn into a massive color display. After the
wreaths are placed, it is time to eat.5 The families have picnics there in the cemeteries by the
graves of their loved ones. The fiambre salad is a traditional

I Robot
Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, allows a machine to function as if the machine has the
capability to think like a human. While we are not expecting any hovering cars anytime soon,
artificial intelligence is projected to have a major impact on the labor force and will likely
replace about half the workforce in the United States in the decades to come. The research in
artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly at an unstoppable rate. So while many people feel
threatened by the possibility of a robot taking over their job, computer scientists actually propose
that robots would benefit a country s efficiency of production, allowing individuals to reap the
benefits of the robots. For the advantage of all, researchers and analysts... Show more content on

scholarly analysis that involved a mathematical formula to identify and rank which of the 702

Frey and Osborne found that automation in the future will mainly substitute for low skill and
low wage jobs. Carl Frey and Michael Osborne write: Our model predicts that most workers in
transportation and logistics occupations, together with the bulk of office and administrative

Jim Sinegal
In 1983, Jim Sinegal s idea for a new business was a place where there were no signs identifying
isles, no advertising, no way for customers to bag their purchases, and before customers would
be allowed to shop, they had to pay an annual fee. That business is Costco and during Jim s 30
years as founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he grew that business into the fourth largest
retailer in the country. Looking back on the legacy Jim left behind when he retired, it is clear that
Jim is one of the most visionary and ethical leaders of our modern times. First, we will look at
how Jim implemented his vision while demonstrating idealized influence by setting aside his self
interests and gaining the trust of the customer for the good of the company. Then we will explore
Costco s code of ethics that employs Dr. Toner s principles of owing, ordering, and oughting.
Finally, we will explore how Jim s leadership style has impacted me and influenced my leadership.
Visionary Leader
Jim Sinegal was a visionary leader as demonstrated by his departure from the generally accepted
retail business practices in favor of a transformational leadership style that gained the trust of his
customers. Jim founded Costco with the idea that no product would be marked up by more than 15

The Structure Of The Skeletal Muscle Essay
In mammals, there are an abundant amount of varying systems and components that all work
together in order for the body to function properly and sustain life; one of those components that
have a great portion of responsibility is the skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is responsible for a
great portion of movements of the body, such as transportation, obtaining food, and fight or flight
responses. Muscles are composed myofibrils, which when grouped together forms musclefibers and
when those are grouped together they form muscles fascicles; multiple muscle fascicles are formed
together to form skeletal muscles. All skeletal muscles are motor neuron dependent and composed
of muscle fibers that are innervated by a motor axon and together form what is known as the motor
unit. The muscle fibers all work together to form a muscle contraction, which is initiated by a
neuronal action potential. The action potential can be activated one of two ways, it can be either
voluntary by the person or it can be in voluntary, which would include electrical stimulation to the
peripheral nerve. After the action potential is initiated, a neurotransmitter is released in the
neuromuscular junction, which results in the depolarization of the muscle or a contraction
(Schiaffino, Blaauw, Dyar, 2016). There are several different ways to measure the overall activity
of skeletal muscles; one way deals with the electrical activity. During a contraction of skeletal
muscles a significant amount of

On a construction site, workers are constantly climbing up and down ladders. As the construction
progresses, the structure gets higher as well as wider. Ladders are often used to reach the upper
heights during the construction phase before the interior is built including stairs. Unfortunately,
falls from a ladder or scaffolding is one of the biggest risks and injuries a construction worker
will face. The ladder can slip, shift, break or slide out from under you causing you to fall from
dangerous heights. Along with construction workers, other tradesman use ladders too. Anyone

Serious injury could be a broken extremity, spinal injury, head trauma or brain damage. The
injuries could lead to long term consequences that result in a person becoming a parapalegic or
serious neurological damage. It might even result in death. This is why there are serious labor
laws in the state to protect workers. There s a section of New York Labor Law that gives special
protection to construction crews and workers who find themselves at high heights during their
work duties. Thousands of workers are injured and lose their lives due to ladder falls. Section
240 of the labor law says that workers must be given braces, ropes, slings and other safety
equipment to perform on ladders. They should be provided with harnesses too. Along with the
section of the labor law, OSHA has rules as well. OSHA Rules Ladders and scaffolds should not

They bring employment to the area with new businesses.
They disperse the populations of large cities.
Good rail and road links close by to access the larger cities for commuters.
Higher employment rates in a lot of new towns due to industries setting up nearby.
Good public transport around the town.
Lots of green space in and around the town.
Generally lots of affordable housing.
There is a country feel whilst still being in a larger town.
b) New Towns: Negatives?
The people moving to new towns are generally between the ages of twenty and forty. There are
lots of zero to five year old children and this creates a population bulge. Lots of primary and
secondary schools with empty classrooms.
They disrupt the social sides of families. Parents and family being left behind.
The social mix is very similar. Houses are the same price so people of the same income bracket and
social background live in the towns.
They are very unattractive places to live.
The town centres can be very congested.
Pockets of depravation and inequality. Lack of community feel.
Generally less character in the towns and much less history.

What Is Jane s Coming Of Age
In Jane Eyre, we see Jane grow up, essentially, by learning the hardship by criticisms of society
through experiences. Jane s coming of age is internalized, meaning her factors of growing up
weren t something as extreme as in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man but domestic. Since
Jane Eyre was written in first person, the reader gets to look at Jane s thought process when
making decisions. Compared to Stephen, in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man is heavily
influenced by religion as an external factor since he went to a boarding school. As a result, Stephen
can be seen as a byproduct of rigorous religious teaching. Even though their stories might be
different, both books show the characters growing up through their narration and characterization....

Within the narration, there was imagery that the author was conveying through the protagonist s
dialogue which both books did. In Jane Eyre it was her paintings which described her progression
throughout the book so the reader can pinpoint what stage of the coming of age process the
protagonist is in. For A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man, the reader doesn t know the age of
Stephen throughout the book so the reader can use clues from his narration to attach description
of his surroundings to an age. An example is Moocow (Joyce 2) and Pick, pack, pock, puck
(Joyce 27) which shows the sensory description which children usually do. Both characters are
also characterized similarly by having parallel stories relating to family for example both growing
up poor, attending boarding schools they hated and eventually leaving, and family problems such as
Jane s aunt being cruel and Stephen s father being alcoholic. Stephens and Jane s internal
development is visible through their advancement mainly climbing the social class, evident from an
early age of their family struggles. Through the first person narration in Jane Eyre, the reader can
characterize Jane through her perspective but also what others say to her. For example, in the

Mountains Beyond Mountains Summary
Dokte Paul. the first part of the book titled Mountains Beyond Mountains, begins when author
and journalist Tracy Kidder first met Dr. Farmer in Haiti. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a big
shot Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian type work in Haiti even though he could
have an easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical
doctor who would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their healthholistically
instead of just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder
back to Haitiwith him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr.
Farmer s patients and co workers call him Dokte Paul; the word dokte is Haitian Creole for
doctor. Kidder also observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There,
Dr. Farmer established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for friend health.
This charity not only provides low cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr.
Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite
being a successful physician. Dr. Farmer begins educating journalist Kidder about the Haitian
people, the health issues they face, and some of their superstitions. He also explains the Haitian
proverb, mountains beyond mountains, which means that for every metaphorical mountain a person

What if, this debate might not be necessary in the first place? What if the notion of the oil a vast

will be nowhere near to being done by 2030. While this means a more stable business, it also means
that the drilling will have a much longer living effect on the area. Also, according to the
Environmental Information Administration, or the EIA, even with the nation s shrinking
dependency on foreign oil with a boom in fracking, current imports of petroleum are far greater than
the ANWR will ever produce. Many groups would argue by mentioning that the ANWR drilling is
positive because it will reduce the United States reliance on foreign oil, which saves the United

Meanwhile, I notice the covers revolves around Gene and Finny sitting and hanging out on the
lone tree as best friends lounging together, which was inaccurate, Gene and Finny never climbs
the tree to converse. Thus, I did not feel the artist made justice of the relevance of the scene. So,
I flip through my cool dark blue sketchbook to a silky and blank neonate page; crisp and full of
possibility. Thereupon, I drew two people as Gene since Leper remarks, I could see both of
them... the sun was blazing... the rays... shooting past them...like golden machine gun fire... them

the other one sank and fell (174 176). There is an uncertainty whether Gene is in front or behind
Finny, however, Gene and the readers understand Gene is in front, who pushes Finny off. I
display Gene on the tree with lax Finny falling down the branches, I made Finny falling like an
elegant leaf floating down to the ground. Moreover, Finny extends his athletic arms outwards to
Gene like a child to his stuffed teddy bear. This scene is a cause to Gene s bitter step to adulthood.

The topic I am going to write about is The Eiffel Tower in France about its structure, history etc.
Because Eiffel Tower is a very significant man made building at that time(1889) and still the most
famous and recognizable tower people could think of in the world nowadays.
1.1 History and background of The Eiffel Tower.
The Eiffel Tower is located in Paris, France, buildt in 1889 and it is 1063 feet tall. The reason of
the name of the Eiffel Tower is because it was named after Alexandre Gustave Eiffel, who was a
famous civil engineer and architect. The tower was built for the International Exhibition of Paris in
memory of the centenary of the French Revolution. It means too much for the french people, it is a

*The Eiffel Tower is an excellent viewpoint, to get the whole city of Paris under your eyes, and it is
a great spot for observation.
*The tower saves a lot of land space.
Disadvantage
*Because the tower is very high and famous, it became a very popular place for people to commit
suicide, approximately more than 350 people jumped off from Eiffel Tower and died. So safety is
one of the major disadvantages of The Eiffel Tower.
*The cost is often much higher to build a tower rather than a lower structure, and requires more
people and money to clean or repair from high.
2.5 Interesting facts about the Eiffle Tower
Thomas Edison visited the tower in September 1889 and left a message of congratulations for M
Eiffel .
In February 1912 Austrian Franz Reichelt attempted to jump off the first floor of the tower using
his home made parachute to glide to the ground. Unfortunately during the 60 m drop his parachute
failed to open and he died on impact.
Between 1925 and 1934, three sides of the Tower accommodated advertising space for Citroen
which made it the world s tallest advertising structure at the time.

Persuasive Essay On Equal Rights
Equal rights are guaranteed to all citizens no matter what race, sex, marital status and/or economic

our amendments say American citizens should do are not half way near what citizens actually do.
U.S News, Senator Jeff Merkley stated in 2015 that According to the Human Rights Campaign,
which advocates for greater LGBTrights, 31 states do not have laws that explicitly prohibit
discrimination based on sexual orientationor gender identity. I think that is wrong, we are not living
in the 1940s we should not be still arguing about whether we should not give equal rights to women

the table. So I was one of the lucky ones. Except things aren t always as simple as they seem. The
people around me weren t the only ones who faced difficult situations. Growing up the way I did
broke me down and built me back up repeatedly, but because my problems never seemed to
compare to others and everyone was struggling with something in their own way, I learned to keep
them to myself.
My family moved to Fitchburg right before I was going to kindergarten. When we first moved
here, we lived in a dangerous neighborhood so my parents wouldn t allow me to associate with
the kids on my street. This resulted in me spending a lot of time alone because I was an only
child. My mom had a job a few towns away and my dad found work in the next town over. They
worked opposite shifts so seeing the two of them together was not a common occurrence. For
these reasons, it was incredibly exciting for me as a child when the three of us would venture out
to visit a family friend. It was my mom s closest friend, Rob, who lived

Lord Capulet To Blame In Romeo And Juliet
The story of Romeo and Juliet, tragedy no doubt, but this 421 year old play doesn t have a
defined cause, until now. At the end of the novel, star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet take their
own lives. What drew them to this, who got them in this position, is a hard question. My claim
is that it was Juliet s father Lord Capulet who should be blamed. He pressures Juliet, he s hasty
and sporadic, and is already half of the problem in the beginning. Lord Capulet isn t the best
father. He pressures a forced marriage on Juliet, when she is already married to Romeo. When she
protests he throws a tantrum and yells at Juliet. Proud, and I thank you, and I thank you not, And
yet not proud ? Mistress minion you... (167 Shakespeare). He does not have much regard towards
her opinion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the book he advances the wedding of Paris and Juliet a day earlier. He doesn t take no for an
answer. Lady Capulet: No not till Thursday. There is time enough. Capulet: Go, Nurse. Go with.
We ll to church tomorrow. (189 Shakespeare). Lord Capulet straight up ignores his wife. Also, as
seen in paragraph 2, he throws a tantrum when he doesn t get what he wants. However, I do
have a counter argument. Who killed Romeo and Juliet is a grey area. It is a common theory
that it was both of the teens fault. Aristotle concluded more than 2,300 years ago that the young
are heated by Nature as drunken men by wine. (Beautiful Brains, Dobbs). Them dying could be
easily avoidable if they didn t kill themselves. On top of the 2 reasons I have presented, I have
another. He was already the problem when the book started. It was in fact Capulet s servants that
started the fight at the beginning of the book. If he was nice and pushed the family feud behind
him, then Romeo and Juliet might have been able to be public about their marriage. If he was a
good father he would have done the right

My Summer Vacation in Florida Essay
Have you ever been on a vacation? To me a vacation is a time to be with friends or family. When
I think of vacations, I think of packing, the flight or drive, and relaxation. Not only is it very
exciting to go on a vacation, but you get closer to the people that go with you.
Linda, my best friend s mom had asked me if I would want to go with their family to Florida. When
she asked me I thought she was kidding, but when she said, I need to know because if you are I
need to get you a airplane ticket, I knew she was serious. I was so excited I could have kissed her. I
was going to Florida with my best friend, Lisa, and her family. The people from Lisa s family that
were going were Tina, Randy, Ashley, and Linda. Tina is Lis ?s sister,... Show more content on

Although the drive was three hours the time went fast before I knew it we were at the airport.
I had never been on an airplane. My stomach felt like I had just eaten rotten fish and I was about
to throw up. I was so excited to go, but at the same time I was scared because I had never been on
a plane. We waited in the airport for at least an hour. Finally our flight was called, as I walked on
the plane my heart was about to jump out of my skin. After the flight attendant had went through
all the rules and we put our seat belts on the plane was going to take off. I thought the worst thing
about the flight was taking off and landing. I didn?t like taking off and landing because my ears
popped. Other than the fact that my ears popped taking off and landing the flight went smooth, we
didn?t crash. When the plane landed, I couldn?t wait to stand on solid ground again.
When I got off the plane the first thing I saw was a giant palm tree. It wasn?t like the palm trees
you see in pictures. This palm tree was kind of ugly it was about thirty feet tall, the leaves at the
top looked like they were dead, and it was leaning to the right. Other than that palm tree it was a
beautiful day. It was ninety seven degrees, but it didn?t feel like Minnesota?s ninety seven degrees
because there wasn?t much humidity. Before we could leave we had to wait for

Importance Of Intracellular Bound Nucleus And Organelles...
Describe, using named examples and annotated diagrams where appropriate, membrane bound
nucleus and organelles within eukaryotes cells; explain evolutionary advantages of intracellular
compartmentalization.
Living cells are the functional biological building blocks of animals. They come together to form
complex organic tissues, organs, and whole bodies, as well as some of these organisms
themselves existing in a unicellular form. Cells vary in size and dimension, with Eukaryotes
ranging from 1x10 3m to 1x10 4m in length, whilst the smaller and less structurally complex
Prokaryotes exist between measurements of 1x10 4m to 1x10 7m in length. This size is contained
by the cell membrane; providing surface area, whilst the three dimensional formations offer volume
to the cell, which comes from the structural sum of all constituents present in the cytoplasm.
Cells have evolved; they are small in order to benefit from a large surface area to volume ratio. An
increased surface area is very advantageous as it allows more sites for protein carriers to transport
nutrients into the cell, as well as encouraging more biochemical reactions on the surface, and across
the membrane. With both Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes having ability to transport multiple nutrients
and molecules into the cell, a range of reactions can take place within these cells. All the vital
catalysts, reactants and reagents required to make use of these transported substances are in the
cytoplasm of both types of

  • 2. Persuasive Speech Essay I.Introduction: A.Relate to self and audience: I love story. Matter of facts, I would love to get to know each of you and listen to your personal stories. Especially, I enjoy listening to struggles related stories. Every day, each of us walks to class and acts normal , though we might carry something deep inside. Something that is too dark which we cannot let others know. From time to time, we keep carrying that wound. It hurts us every now and then, but we say nothing. Transition: For today, I am going to show you mine. B.Attention Getter: I was bullied for seven years straight. Transition: What I m trying to say here is that all of these complicated processes happened because of giving and receiving kindness. It actually improves the soul of our heart, but also its physical well beings. B.Main point II: Kindness reflects leadership quality because it teaches leader how to lead and take initiatives. Orly Wahba, CEO of Life Vest Inside, once said that a small act of kindness shows that we have a power to make a change like a leader (TED Talk, 2014). It also demonstrates that we push ourselves out of our comfort zone and take actions to help others (TED Talk, 2014). She emphasizes that our kind actions, big or small, prove that we want to take charge and make the world become a better place (TED Talk, 2014). And that, in her opinion (also mine), kindness is such a simple, valuable quality which demonstrates a powerful role, a leader (TED Talk, 2014). Transition: I want to you take these two points and understand them through my story and my perception. Need + Satisfaction + Visualization: Imagine this, you, in my body, wake up and ready to start your day. However, before you get out of bed, you have to look real quick at social media. • 3. Jean Paul Sartre No Exit Existentialism Essay It was in the 19 Th centuries where a French writer Jean Paul Sartre who popularized the concept of existentialism this was during his play No Exit. Sartre explained Existentialism, which states on the belief that life has no meaning. Each is separate from all other individuals, so each person has the power to place himself in the position he wishes, that every individual is responsible for his actions. Effects Of Ww1 On The Western Front WW1 on the western front In the trenches of ww1 it was hard for all soldiers, so during Christmas day of 1914 along the western front the two sides joined in no mans land to celebrate Christmas. Both sides of the war had yet been in a full out battle with each other and that gave them a better mind set to have peace but even though Paul from all quiet on the western front had been in multiple battles, with the German army, he still had compassion and still saw the good in life. Stephanie Rosenthal Sydney s 20th Biennale is entitled The future is already here it s just not evenly distributed, where it explores the ideas about technology, virtual reality, science fiction and the ways in which individuals and communities are living in an increasingly digital and technological world. This theme was inspired by an American Canadian science fiction writer. The artistic director, Stephanie Rosenthal investigates the relationship we have with technology and the power it holds to transport us to another world allowing new concepts and opportunities to arise however it also removes us from our environment and physical bodies. The aims of the Biennale of Sydney is to allow inventive and creative experimentation to be explored and to challenge the norms of predictable artmaking practices. The Biennale advocates a real cultural experience through combining the many different artworks created by many different artists instigating a global conversation about art. The Biennale occurs every two years in Sydney and brings such a cultural experience to the Sydney. Passivity and Impotence in Mary Shelley s Frankenstein Passivity and Impotence in Frankenstein There are many ways to interpret a literary text, especially one as laden with ethical questions and literary allegory as Mary Shelley s Frankenstein. Shelley s complex family dynamic her conflicted relationship with her father, her need to please her mentor/husband with literary success, her infants deaths enhances the intrigue of the novel and suggests multiple themes and layered meanings. One discernible theme in Frankenstein is illuminated by the bold line that separates male character from female: The men inevitably fail the women whom they claim to love, but the women are maddeningly passive, seemingly blind to the men s inadequacies. Teenagers are already at greater risks at being exposed to peer pressure, drinking, smoking, violence, risky behaviors and etc.. We are the world today and we are trying to make a change but how will a changed be inflicted if people want to lower the minimum legal drinking age(MLDA). I understand that young people like to party, turn up, and get lit(littttt) but in reality it s not all about that so I m here to persuade you that the minimum legal drinking age shouldn t be lowered. All fifty states minimum drinking age is twenty one but there are exceptions based on state by state bases and certain necessary essentials. There are a lot of proponents and opponents of lowering the minimum legal drinking age from 21 because teenage drinking is occurring so heavily so there might be rules to push this underage drinking or binge drinking into controlled environments or places and private environments that are secured. • 10. The Two Arrangements of Water Quality Parameters There are two arrangements of water quality parameters: пѓјConservative пѓјNon conservative Conservative parameters of water which are hardness, alkalinity, salinity, and temperature are not affected significantly by activities of microorganisms. [30] Ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, total nitrogen, pH, phosphorous, dissolved oxygen, conductivity, total dissolved solids, chemical oxygen demand, and oxygen reduction potential which are affected by biological activity are considered as non conservative. [30] [31] Now let s discuss the crucial water quality parameters taking into consideration the importance of monitoring them in an aquaculture setting for reusing them for irrigating processes. In 1706, Handel travelled to Rome but at the time, the church had banned opera in some states so he wrote sacred music for the church. It was in 1707 and 1709 that Handel wrote his fifth opera Rodrigo and sixth opera Agrippina respectively. In 1710 on his way to London, after becoming Kapellmeister to Prince George, Handel wrote his 7th opera, Rinaldo which premiered in 1711 on the 24th of February (Schoelcher, 1857). Handel wrote Rinaldo within a fortnight with the directional aid of Aaron Hill who was the director of the Haymarket Theatre at the time. They performed the opera 15 nights in a row which back then, was a rare occurrence (Lang, 2012). These moments may have lead Handel to write the opera Rinaldo in 1711. George Fredric Handel s librettist for the opera Rinaldo was Aaron Hill but Giacomo Rossi translated it into Italian (Rodina, 2008). Rossi, has been universally condemned as a miserable poetaster. However, the opera Rinaldo was Rossi s first libretto for Handel. Rossi does defend himself for the pace that he had to write the lyrics for the opera. Upon discovery, Chris corpse became a symbol of misguided passions and misinterpreted values and inspired many to explore and document his story of demise. In Jon Krakauer s Into the Wild, the story of Chris, attempting to achieve ultimate freedom and independence is told. On this journey, it is evident that Chris McCandless shunning of society was unjustified because he took the transcendentalist ideas expressed in Henry David Thoreau s Walden and Ralph Waldo Emerson s Self Reliance and radically misinterpreted them. Because of his analytical error, McCandless was unable to attain freedom and independence, despite his support for these values; egotism overcame individualism, and McCandless hubris and extreme risk taking resulted in foolish isolationism and rendered his journey useless. One of the central tenets of transcendentalism is the aspiration of freedom and the desire to pursue a life of individualism. This is described in Self Reliance, where Ralph Waldo Emerson states ... that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide... (1). Both envy and imitation are parts of collectivism, and as such, cannot be well integrated into the philosophy of transcendentalism, which has a deep contempt for society. Spinal Cord Protection Strategies for Thoracic Endovascular Aneurysm Repair With an incidence once as high as 40%, spinal cord paralysis in thoracoabominal procedures has declined, however, still remains a devastating threat post surgery (Roman, Grewal, Taylor, Grigore, 2014). Modern techniques for repair of thoracic aneurysms and dissections include an open incision with extracorporeal bypass and aortic clamping. This surgical procedure puts patients at great risk for spinal cord paralysis. Open procedures required meticulous reimplantation of intercostal blood vessels, deep hypothermic cardiac arrest, epidural cooling, and various pharmacologic interventions. As surgical technique has advanced to percutaneous endograft repair, most of these techniques are no longer needed. However, the incidence of paralysis is still prevalent in patients having a TEVAR procedure. This day, Dia de los Muertos, or the Day of the Dead, originated in Mexico centuries ago. 1 It is a day of joy and not of sorrow. This is the when people pray for help from the saints who have passed on. They also pray that those who have died without becoming saints will become saints. Fancy decorations, food, and fun are all joined together to help celebrate this day in Guatemala. The home is one of the places that is beautifully decorated. An alter is set up with pictures of their loved ones, candles, flowers, bread, fruit, atole and aguardiente. Atole is a drink that is made of corn flour and water; while aguardiente is liquor made from sugar cane. The people continue their rituals and before dawn they place flowers above the doors of their home to welcome the spirits of their deceased loved ones.2 This adds to the beautiful decor of the home. Next, comes the decorations at the grave side. People clean the tomb stones, paint them, and then decorate them with many colorful flowers. Flowers like lilies, chrysanthemums, and flor de muerto (a strong marigold) are used to decorate.3 At the tops of the graves are placed wax paper wreaths.4 The cemeteries on this day turn into a massive color display. After the wreaths are placed, it is time to eat.5 The families have picnics there in the cemeteries by the graves of their loved ones. The fiambre salad is a traditional ... While we are not expecting any hovering cars anytime soon, artificial intelligence is projected to have a major impact on the labor force and will likely replace about half the workforce in the United States in the decades to come. The research in artificial intelligence is advancing rapidly at an unstoppable rate. So while many people feel threatened by the possibility of a robot taking over their job, computer scientists actually propose that robots would benefit a country s efficiency of production, allowing individuals to reap the benefits of the robots. Frey and Osborne found that automation in the future will mainly substitute for low skill and low wage jobs. Carl Frey and Michael Osborne write: Our model predicts that most workers in transportation and logistics occupations, together with the bulk of office and administrative support workers, and labor in production occupations, are at risk. McCauley Air Force Senior Noncommissioned Officer Academy November 5, 2014 Instructor: HptFw Rainer Lichtsinn Jim Sinegal In 1983, Jim Sinegal s idea for a new business was a place where there were no signs identifying isles, no advertising, no way for customers to bag their purchases, and before customers would be allowed to shop, they had to pay an annual fee. That business is Costco and during Jim s 30 years as founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), he grew that business into the fourth largest retailer in the country. Looking back on the legacy Jim left behind when he retired, it is clear that Jim is one of the most visionary and ethical leaders of our modern times. First, we will look at how Jim implemented his vision while demonstrating idealized influence by setting aside his self interests and gaining the trust of the customer for the good of the company. Then we will explore Costco s code of ethics that employs Dr. Toner s principles of owing, ordering, and oughting. Finally, we will explore how Jim s leadership style has impacted me and influenced my leadership. Visionary Leader Jim Sinegal was a visionary leader as demonstrated by his departure from the generally accepted retail business practices in favor of a transformational leadership style that gained the trust of his customers. • 28. The Structure Of The Skeletal Muscle Essay In mammals, there are an abundant amount of varying systems and components that all work together in order for the body to function properly and sustain life; one of those components that have a great portion of responsibility is the skeletal muscle. Skeletal muscle is responsible for a great portion of movements of the body, such as transportation, obtaining food, and fight or flight responses. Muscles are composed myofibrils, which when grouped together forms musclefibers and when those are grouped together they form muscles fascicles; multiple muscle fascicles are formed together to form skeletal muscles. All skeletal muscles are motor neuron dependent and composed of muscle fibers that are innervated by a motor axon and together form what is known as the motor unit. The muscle fibers all work together to form a muscle contraction, which is initiated by a neuronal action potential. The action potential can be activated one of two ways, it can be either voluntary by the person or it can be in voluntary, which would include electrical stimulation to the peripheral nerve. After the action potential is initiated, a neurotransmitter is released in the neuromuscular junction, which results in the depolarization of the muscle or a contraction (Schiaffino, Blaauw, Dyar, 2016). There are several different ways to measure the overall activity of skeletal muscles; one way deals with the electrical activity. During a contraction of skeletal muscles a significant amount of ... Lots of green space in and around the town. Generally lots of affordable housing. There is a country feel whilst still being in a larger town. b) New Towns: Negatives? Lots of primary and secondary schools with empty classrooms. They disrupt the social sides of families. Parents and family being left behind. The social mix is very similar. Jane s coming of age is internalized, meaning her factors of growing up weren t something as extreme as in A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man but domestic. Since Jane Eyre was written in first person, the reader gets to look at Jane s thought process when making decisions. Compared to Stephen, in A Portrait of an Artist as a Young Man is heavily influenced by religion as an external factor since he went to a boarding school. As a result, Stephen can be seen as a byproduct of rigorous religious teaching. Even though their stories might be different, both books show the characters growing up through their narration and characterization.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within the narration, there was imagery that the author was conveying through the protagonist s dialogue which both books did. In Jane Eyre it was her paintings which described her progression throughout the book so the reader can pinpoint what stage of the coming of age process the protagonist is in. For A Portrait of the Artist as Young Man, the reader doesn t know the age of Stephen throughout the book so the reader can use clues from his narration to attach description of his surroundings to an age. An example is Moocow (Joyce 2) and Pick, pack, pock, puck (Joyce 27) which shows the sensory description which children usually do. Both characters are also characterized similarly by having parallel stories relating to family for example both growing up poor, attending boarding schools they hated and eventually leaving, and family problems such as Jane s aunt being cruel and Stephen s father being alcoholic. Stephens and Jane s internal development is visible through their advancement mainly climbing the social class, evident from an early age of their family struggles. Kidder describes Dr. Farmer as a big shot Boston doctor who has chosen to do humanitarian type work in Haiti even though he could have an easy career as a lecturer back in Boston. Kidder realizes that Dr. Farmer is the atypical doctor who would rather get to know his patients as people and cares about their healthholistically instead of just treating the symptoms and moving on. The next year, Dr. Farmer invites Kidder back to Haitiwith him, and Kidder begins to observe Dr. Farmer at work. Kidder notices that Dr. Farmer s patients and co workers call him Dokte Paul; the word dokte is Haitian Creole for doctor. Kidder also observes the unsanitary conditions of life in the Cange region of Haiti. There, Dr. Farmer established the charity called Zamni Lasante, which is Haitian Creole for friend health. This charity not only provides low cost or free medical care, it also builds houses and schools. Dr. Farmer often uses his own money to help keep the charity going, and lives very modestly despite being a successful physician. Also, according to the Environmental Information Administration, or the EIA, even with the nation s shrinking dependency on foreign oil with a boom in fracking, current imports of petroleum are far greater than the ANWR will ever produce. Many groups would argue by mentioning that the ANWR drilling is positive because it will reduce the United States reliance on foreign oil, which saves the United States money. At the end of the novel, star crossed lovers Romeo and Juliet take their own lives. What drew them to this, who got them in this position, is a hard question. My claim is that it was Juliet s father Lord Capulet who should be blamed. He pressures Juliet, he s hasty and sporadic, and is already half of the problem in the beginning. Lord Capulet isn t the best father. He pressures a forced marriage on Juliet, when she is already married to Romeo. When she protests he throws a tantrum and yells at Juliet. Also, as seen in paragraph 2, he throws a tantrum when he doesn t get what he wants. However, I do have a counter argument. Who killed Romeo and Juliet is a grey area. It is a common theory that it was both of the teens fault. Aristotle concluded more than 2,300 years ago that the young are heated by Nature as drunken men by wine. (Beautiful Brains, Dobbs). Them dying could be easily avoidable if they didn t kill themselves. On top of the 2 reasons I have presented, I have another. He was already the problem when the book started. Describe, using named examples and annotated diagrams where appropriate, membrane bound nucleus and organelles within eukaryotes cells; explain evolutionary advantages of intracellular compartmentalization. Living cells are the functional biological building blocks of animals. They come together to form complex organic tissues, organs, and whole bodies, as well as some of these organisms themselves existing in a unicellular form. Cells vary in size and dimension, with Eukaryotes ranging from 1x10 3m to 1x10 4m in length, whilst the smaller and less structurally complex Prokaryotes exist between measurements of 1x10 4m to 1x10 7m in length. This size is contained by the cell membrane; providing surface area, whilst the three dimensional formations offer volume to the cell, which comes from the structural sum of all constituents present in the cytoplasm. Cells have evolved; they are small in order to benefit from a large surface area to volume ratio. An increased surface area is very advantageous as it allows more sites for protein carriers to transport nutrients into the cell, as well as encouraging more biochemical reactions on the surface, and across the membrane. With both Eukaryotes and Prokaryotes having ability to transport multiple nutrients and molecules into the cell, a range of reactions can take place within these cells. All the vital catalysts, reactants and reagents required to make use of these transported substances are in the cytoplasm of both types of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
